Opis:
The aim of this study was to compare personality profiles of groups of voters varying in ideological and political preferences. A six-dimensional model of personality (HEXACO) and lexical approach to the study of personality structure were used. The results showed that lower Agreeableness and higher Conscientiousness distinguished right-wing voters from other groups. Lower Extraversion characterized the group of voters who did not establish their ideological preferences. The group of centrist voters did not show distinct individuality in respect to personality. Personality traits distinguishing supporters of PiS are characteristic of right-wing voters and traits distinguishing supporters of PO are characteristic of left-wind voters but both groups of voters were similar in relatively high Conscientiousness. The results of the research showed some personality traits which characterized supporters of PSL, RP and SLD.

Survey of consumer preferences on the bee product market. Part 1. Honey. The survey concerning the market consumer preferences of bee products was based on the internet anonymous questionnaire (517 persons). Over 95% of respondents declared honey consumption. More men than women eat honey. The quantity and frequency of honey use increases with age. As many as 70% of respondents sweeten using honey. The respondents choosing honey follow mainly the taste, individual properties of type of honeys, availability, price and appearance. Respondents the most willingly consume honey coming from Poland, and more than half of the respondents buy honey directly from a beekeeper. The most preferred are multi-fl ower, lime, acacia, buckwheat, honeydew and rapeseed honeys. A defi nitely higher percentage of respondents working in the sectors related to agriculture ate buckwheat, heather and dandelion honeys.

This paper presents results of research related to preferences and attitudes of young consumers (at the age of 10-17 years) on the example of milk. It was shown, among other things, that milk is a product consumed often, mainly because of nutritive value, good taste and positive influence on health. Average consumption of milk ? about 2.5 glasses a day is similar to average daily level recommended by food science. Younger children consume milk in lower quantities, usually to meals in different forms. For teenagers milk is mainly a beverage, and they drink it in higher quantities, usually impulsively without any special occasion. 
Pomimo specyfiki rynku dziecięco-młodzieżowego można zauważyć, iż młody konsument przejawia racjonalne postawy i preferencje w odniesieniu do spożycia produktów mleczarskich. Chętnie zjada różne produkty, a w szczególności spożywa mleko, ma wyraźnie określone preferencje odnośnie do rodzaju mleka, zawartości tłuszczu, formy spożycia czy też stopnia podgrzania mleka. Mleko jest więc produktem powszechnie spożywanym, wybieranym głównie ze względu na walory odżywcze, zdrowotne i smakowe. W decyzjach konsumpcyjnych młodych konsumentów istotną rolę odgrywa marka produktu; większość dzieci i młodzieży zna marki mleka, ma swoją ulubioną i tę markę preferuje w codziennym spożyciu.

Survey of consumer preferences on bee product market. Part 2. Bee products. The aim of the work was to examine consumer preferences when choosing bee products. The research was conducted on the basis of the questionnaire presented in Part 1 of the article. Beeswax, propolis, bee bread were the bee products known to over half of the respondents. Education or work related to agriculture, animals and nutrition signifi cantly affected the knowledge of the properties of individual bee products. After learn ing the medicinal properties of bee products unknown to the respondents, 37.3% of them declared willingness to use inhalation with beehive air, 33.2% of royal jelly, 30.5% bee pollen and honey, 25.5% bee venom, 17.6 propolis, and 15.6% beeswax.

The aim of this paper was to create a psychometric instrument for the measurement of socially oriented preferences in economic decisions made in professional and private life as well as at scrutinizing the effects of various environmental variables on these preferences. For this purpose, two surveys were carried out on a group of adult working Poles (N=348+487=835). The idea of the new questionnaire and the results of factor analysis are described herein, along with the other examinations confirming the accuracy of the new instrument. A significant correspondence between eight situational factors: five in professional life (goal setting strategy, work style, role and responsibility, position, nonfinancial rewards) and three in private life (frequency of family meeting, marital status, parenthood), and the intensity of socially oriented preferences in economic decisions was confirmed. Both surveys showed that these preferences undergo significant alterations along with each slightest change in situational factors, even ones not directly connected with the decision at hand. Moreover, the studies indicate that the intensity of socially oriented preferences vary with respect to gender and age. Practitioner Points: (1) Team goal setting strategy, work style, responsibility and non-financial rewards intense socially oriented preferences. (2) Financial rewards are irrelevant for socially oriented preferences.

The article contents some results of research on political preferences of candidates for City Council in Szczecin. The survey was done just before the 2014 local elections. In the survey’s results published in this paper, the main object was to determine the relation of candidates for councilors to competition for the mayor of Szczecin. The analysis is focused on the issues of mayor’s potential attributes such as: previous achievements, personal competence, image, party affiliation and program for action in future. Moreover the concentration was also done on preferences of mayor’s candidates: it was very interesting to compare answers on the question who would be better mayor of Szczecin. In the research the modified Analytic Hierarchy Process methods was used. Firstly, the modification, called the method of weighting the selection preferences, showed Piotr Krzystek (mayor of Szczecin since 2006) as a most preferred pretender in 2014 - the majority of party electoral committees recognized him as a second choice candidate. Secondary, each electoral committee had disloyal followers.

The pseudo-entropy hybrid model is suggested as the measure of uncertainty of operators' subjective preferences. Because of the introduced relative prevailing preferences factor the proposed hybrid model has advantages comparatively to the traditional measures of uncertainty in the view of Boltzmann's or Shannon 's entropy. According to the relative dominating preferences index the pseudo-entropy varies within [-1...1] showing the sign and magnitude of the relative subjective assuredness. Analytical expressions have been achieved. The theoretical concept is illustrated with examples and graphs.

The main aim of this article is to supplement gaps in current knowledge concerning the development of competences related to goods allocation choices. We conducted a study in which 158 children aged 5 to 6 made choices concerning allocations of goods between themselves and the other, anonymous child. The crucial findings point to boys as more selfish in their choices than girls. Furthermore, we provide evidence for the claim that young children (especially boys) are aware that their choices are egoistic. Since our study adopted a similar methodology to that of the recent Swiss study, we were able to conduct cross-cultural analysis. The comparison of children’s choices in the Polish study and the Swiss one pictures Polish children as displaying a stronger egalitarian preferences and revealing egoistic preferences less frequently than the children from Switzerland.

The destructive impact of natural disasters (and other random events that are usually difficult to predict) is increasingly being felt in all areas of the functioning of modern states. The governments of those countries (often in cooperation with local authorities) take various measures to prevent such events and to minimise their consequences, including helping victims of their occurrence. One way to achieve some of the above intentions – although certainly not of fundamental importance – is the use of tax law instruments, in particular tax preferences. This study is an attempt to analyse and assess these provisions of tax law that allow victims of natural disasters to benefit from preferential tax rules. The study discusses the tax instruments used to help victims of natural disasters used by tax authorities. The analysis shows that the system of tax instruments protecting victims of natural disasters is largely based on discretionary solutions, used only as a result of an appropriate procedure followed by a formal decision of an authorised body (legal act or decision). In light of the studies carried out, it can be concluded in general that the system of tax instruments to protect persons affected by natural disasters requires certain measures to improve its effectiveness. Certain requests in this regard, addressed to the legislature, were generally indicated in the study. The article also presents some specific issues related to the interpretation of of the regulations under consideration, including some editorial and terminology doubts.

The migration crisis influenced the internal situation in Sweden to a great extent. Owing to an intensive migrant inflow and a massive submission of asylum applications, the topic of immigration became an integral part of the political discourse. Therefore, a question should be asked, whether intensified migration will cause any visible changes in Sweden, especially in the field of politics and social attitudes towards foreigners. Sweden, until now, has been perceived as a tolerant and open state and society. The aim of the article is to test the hypothesis assuming that there is a correlation between the migration crisis, the radicalisation of the Swedish society and the growing support for the Sweden Democrats, the only anti-immigration political party in Sweden.

The objective of the paper was to learn about behavioural consumer preferences with regard to organic products distribution on the area of Małopolskie Voivodeship. The research studies covered purposefully selected a 100-person group of respondents. On account of the growing awareness of consumers concerning healthy food, they will even more often reach for organic products. Thus, the process of their distribution should be properly prepared so that the demand for this kind of food is the highest. The investigated respondents use a previously prepared shopping list and carefully read available products while shopping. Majority of them look for loose products. A proper quality of products and form of sale may increase the consumers’ interest and consequently their distribution.

The article presents Hungarian electorate’s preferences in the time of transition and democratic consolidation beginning in 1990. The preferences are confrontated with results of parliamentary elections held in 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010. Author tries to show how the left and right preference division developed on the basis of socioeconomic cleavages. The evolution of Hungarian electorate preferences has moved toward bidimensional “left – right” structure since the elections in 1998, yet first symptoms appeared in 1994 when post-socialis party MSzP won the elections. Since then only this party and rightist Fidesz were able to succeed and create Hungarian governments.

In den letzten Jahren wird steigende Interesse der Verbraucher an Land- und Regionalherkunft der gekauften Lebensmittelprodukte beobachtet. Um die Verbrauchergruppen zu ermitteln, die vor allem auf regionale Herkunft der Lebensmittelprodukte achten, wurde eine Segmentierung, d.h. eine Verteilung des Verbrauchermarktes gemacht. Es wurde das Verbraucherverhalten auf dem Markt der regionalen Produkte dargestellt, und auch die Beziehungen zwischen den soziodemografischen Determinanten und Interesse an dem regionalen Angebot bestimmt.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki segmentacji konsumentów wykonanej na podstawie ich preferencji wobec produktów spożywczych pochodzących z wybranego regionu - Wielkopolski. Wyodrębniono trzy segmenty: konsumentów o najwyższym, średnim i najniższym stopniu zainteresowania ofertą regionalną. Stwierdzono, iż nastawienie do produktów z regionu zależy od takich cech demograficznych, jak wiek, wykształcenie i poziom dochodów. Do grupy konsumentów najczęściej zwracających uwagę na regionalne pochodzenie nabywanych produktów należą osoby w wieku powyżej 35 lat, ze średnim wykształceniem, których dochody kształtują się na dość wysokim poziomie.

Include foods from all 12 food groups in your diet. Dry legumes constitute the ninth group. They are a source of valuable protein, dietary fiber and valuable minerals needed for the proper functioning of the body. The average protein content in legume seeds ranges from 20% to 35% on average. In recent years, due to the growing trend for plant-based diets, chickpeas have gained popularity, especially hummus from the Middle East. Most of the respondents participating in the study were students of the first year of the second degree of dietetics 51.7% (N=31). The majority of respondents - 78.3% (N=47) suggested that they eat hummus. When asked about the reason for hummus consumption, the most frequently chosen answer was "It's tasty", which was indicated by 66.7% (N=40) of students. The most frequently consumed type of hummus in terms of taste was natural hummus, chosen by 38.2% (N=23) of the respondents. Most respondents, 81.7% (N=49), believed that hummus is an important source of protein when following a vegetarian diet. At the end, the best and the worst hummus were assessed, taking into account all the sensory characteristics of hummus: color, texture, smell and taste. The vast majority of the surveyed students of dietetics included hummus in their diet, most of whom chose this product because of the taste.
W diecie warto umieścić żywność ze wszystkich 12 grup produktów spożywczych. Suche nasiona roślin strączkowych stanowią dziewiątą grupę. Są źródłem cennego białka, błonnika pokarmowego i cennych minerałów potrzebnych do prawidłowego funkcjonowania organizmu. Średnia zawartość białka w nasionach roślin strączkowych wynosi średnio od 20% do 35%. W ostatnich latach, ze względu na co raz większą modę na diety roślinne, popularność zyskała ciecierzyca, a w szczególności pochodzący z terenów Bliskiego Wschodu hummus. Najwięcej respondentów biorących udział w badaniu było studentami I roku II stopnia dietetyki 51,7% (N=31). Większość ankietowanych – 78,3% (N=47) zasugerowała, że spożywa hummus. Na pytanie o powód spożycia hummusu najczęściej wybieraną była odpowiedź „Jest smaczny”, którą wskazało 66,7% (N=40) studentów. Najczęściej spożywanym rodzajem hummusu ze względu na smak był hummus naturalny, wybrany przez 38,2% (N=23) ankietowanych. Najwięcej respondentów, bo 81,7% (N=49) uważało, że hummus stanowi istotne źródło białka podczas stosowania diety wegetariańskiej. Na koniec próbowano ocenić najlepszy oraz najgorszy hummus, biorąc pod uwagę wszystkie cechy sensoryczne hummusu: barwę, konsystencję, zapach oraz smak. Zdecydowana większość ankietowanych studentów dietetyki uwzględniła w swojej diecie spożywanie hummusu, z czego większość wybierała ten produkt ze względu na smak.

We propose a methodology to support decisions on how to construct rankings of objects which account for decision makers' preferences. As it is not always so that objects to be ranked are known upfront, the methodology is focused on constructing ranking algorithms rather than rankings themselves. The methodology builds on Multiple Criteria Decision Making paradigms. To operationalize it we provide a consistent interactive framework which allows the decision maker to express his preferences with respect to objects directly, with respect to the criteria selection process (multiple criteria model building), and with respect to attributes resulting from the selected criteria. The methodology is illustrated by a numerical example of municipality rankings.

As a result of previous multilateral negotiations tarif rates are generally low and cannot explain the reasons for recent proliferation of preferential trade agreements (PTAs). The aim of the paper is to look for other motivations of EU PTAs and to assess their importance for the EU. The main research methods are statistical, review and assessment of WTO documents and critical analysis of literature. First, the present level of tarif protection on selected import markets was estimated. This level illustrates the scale of countries' interest in their elimination of the existing tarifs. Also the share of preferential imports in the EU extra-trade was calculated and compared with trade on MFN basis. Next, reasons for PTAs were identified. eTh conclusions prove that 21st century PTAs are mainly motivated not by a reduction of tarifs but by the willingness to reduce the regulatory barriers (contained in rules on public procurement, environmental protection, etc.). The most dynamic trade nowadays involves flows of accessories and services. In this situation the importance of PTAs results from the fact that they serve as instruments eliminating national regulatory barriers faced by exporters of goods and resources on foreign markets. Thus PTAs support production and sales abroad. In the EU political motivations of PTAs are important as well.

In our paper, the results concerning the research devoted to wine consumers’ preferences, obtained with the use of method called the conjoint analysis, are presented. The basis for measurements of such the preferences is the utility function that enables to assign numerical characteristics to each of available variates. The conjoint analysis is a survey-based multivariate statistical technique where respondent has different objects at the disposal, each of which is determined by the chosen set of relevant attributes, taking the given values (levels), in order to give some information about the total preferences regarding these objects. The objective of our work is to gain the knowledge about the wine consumers’ preferences and, in particular, to establish what factors are vital for them when purchasing wine. We conduct a questionnaire survey based on a sample consisting of 248 randomly chosen respondents, declaring wine consumption. The collected sample has been divided into the female and male groups, as well as into the three age categories (18–35 years, 36–55 years and 56 years or more). In our study, we have stated that the price of wine is the most decisive factor when it comes to selection of the preferred sort of wine. The wine dryness and its color turn out to be the second and the third most signifi cant factors regarding this choice, while the sort of wine and the number of awarded prizes or accolades are the least important factors for buying the specifi c kind of wine.

The main goal of this paper is to understand the interconnections between cultural and functional aspects of car exploitation. It is argued that these two aspects should be considered as different sides of the same automobility phenomenon, which has a great impact on the transportation preferences of citizens. In order to explain how the interconnections would influence each other and shape the preferences, the analysis results are considered within the framework of a biographical approach, with particular attention to the adulthood transition. The paper provides evidence that the mobility orientation of many local inhabitants changes as a result of obtaining a job. At this biographical stage, the growing importance of the dominating strategy of “being a driver” could be observed, mainly due to different socially constructed requirements, e.g. the demonstration of buyer power, flexibility and multi-functional existence. Finally, it is also emphasized that the interconnections strengthening the role of private cars should not be considered in terms of what does not change, since they trigger opposition discourses which criticise automobility domination.

Wraz z rozwojem gospodarki i poprawą poziomu życia ludzi, podróże stają się jednymz ważniejszych elementów stylu życia. W procesie rozwoju turystyki coraz więcej badaczy koncentruje się na analizie aspektów związanych z rozwojem turystyki, a w szczególności produktów turystycznych oferowanych na rynku, jak również preferencji ich odbiorców. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza preferencji turystycznych mieszkańców Białegostoku. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań wskazują, iż największym zainteresowaniem wśród ankietowanych cieszy się turystyka wypoczynkowa oraz rozrywkowa. W trakcie wyjazdów turystycznych respondentom najczęściej towarzyszą znajomi bądź ich partnerzy i rodzina. Informacje o miejscu przyszłego wypoczynku badani pozyskują najczęściej z Internetu oraz od rodziny i znajomych. Ważnym źródłem informacji są dla nich również foldery i katalogi. Ankietowani wybierając miejsce wypoczynku, najczęściej kierują się urokiem otoczenia, jednocześnie zwracając uwagę na cenę oferty. Podczas organizacji wyjazdu turystycznego często korzystają z usług biur podróży, jednakże najczęściej organizują podróże samodzielnie. Jako środek transportu badani wskazują głównie samochód. Wśród form wypoczynku przeważnie preferują spotkania z przyjaciółmi oraz zwiedzanie zabytków i muzeów. Białostoczanie jednakowo chętnie uczestniczą w wyjazdach krótkoterminowych i długoterminowych. Na podstawie dokonanej analizy porównawczej otrzymanych wyników z rezultatami badań prowadzonych przez Instytut Turystyki w 2011 r. należy zauważyć, że pomimo wielu różnic w innych sferach życia, mieszkańcy Białegostoku mają podobne preferencje turystyczne jak pozostała część polskiego społeczeństwa.
With the development of economy and the improvement of living standards of people, traveling has become one of the most important elements of lifestyle. In the process of tourism development, more and more research is focused on the analysis of aspects related to the development of tourism, especially tourism products offered on the market, as well as the preferences of their customers. The purpose of this article is to analyze the tourism preferences of the inhabitants of Bialystok. The main method applied in the conducted research was a diagnostic survey, carried out with the usage of the questionnaire technique. The results of this study indicate that leisure and entertainment tourism are the most popular among respondents. During their tourist trips most respondents are accompanied by friends or their partners and family. The respondents most frequently acquire information concerning the future recreation locations from the Internet or from friends and family. Folders and directories are an important source of information for them as well. When selecting a holiday destination the respondents are mostly driven by the attractiveness of the environment, at the same time paying attention to the price of the offer. When organizing a tourist trip, the respondents often use the services of travel agencies, but most frequently they organize trips themselves. As a means of transport the respondents indicate mainly the car. Among the leisure activities, the respondents generally prefer meeting friends, as well as visiting monuments and museums. The citizens of Bialystok are equally willing to participate in short and long term trips. On the basis of the comparative analysis of the obtained results with the results of the research conducted by the Institute of Tourism in 2011 it should be noted that despite many differences in other spheres of life, the inhabitants of Bialystok have similar tourist preferences as the rest of the of the Polish society.

The article examines the issues surrounding tourist activity and social interest in agritourism among residents of the main cities in Kazakhstan. Based on the survey results among a group of n = 577 respondents, the article inspected the extent of their participation in rural tourism, including agritourism, as well as their preferences and expectations regarding the type and extent of services offered on tourist farms. Research results show that the interest of city residents in using agritourism farm services is limited despite of a generally positive attitude towards rural tourism. Potential tourists’ expectations of agritourism farm services focus primarily on the quality of accommodations and the sanitary conditions present in the facilities providing them. Domestic tourists especially expect to be able to take advantage of natural products with medicinal and cosmetic properties. They view active forms of leisure as a mere supplement. The respondents’ opinions and assessments can determine the ways agritourism farms adapt to this clientele as well as impact organisational decisions and strategic planning of rural tourism in the country.

Revenues of police offi cers obtained for their service, as in case of other professional groups, are subject to personal income tax. However, this does not change the fact that certain categories of the above benefi ts have been treated favourably in terms of the tax law. By means of the exemptions in question, the tax legislator waives the obligation to pay tax on benefi ts which, due to their specifi c nature (e.g. relating to the specifi c nature of the business relationship, social, family, health or other axiological considerations), should remain free of tax. The important thing is that the analysed tax preferences are differentiated in terms of their legal structure — while some of them cover only cash benefi ts, in some cases they concern benefi ts in kind. In addition, some tax exemptions for police offi cers do not involve waiving the obligation to pay tax of the full amount of income from a particular source, but only a certain part of it. The exemption from income tax for certain categories of benefi ts received by police offi cers has a direct impact on the performance of so-called instrumental duties, in particular the obligation to submit income tax returns.

Celem pracy było określenie warunków i sprawdzenie możliwości wprowadzania na rynku artykułów spożywczych strategii sprzedaży opartej na regionalnym pochodzeniu w wybranym regionie Polski - Wielkopolsce. Chodziło przede wszystkim o poznanie opinii i analizę preferencji konsumentów co do artykułów spożywczych pochodzących z regionu Wielkopolski, a także o określenie miejsca i znaczenia regionalnych produktów w ofercie rynkowej.

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the preferences of English-major students to determine their reading activities when they have the choice of reading a printed text or an electronic text. The participants chosen for the study were 105 students from English reading classes at an English department. For the purpose of finding out students’ preferences for English reading from printed or electronic texts, a questionnaire for online reading comprehension was employed. The result of an independent-samples t test showed that there was no significant difference between the genders (male and female) regarding preference for printed or electronic texts. The results of a one-way ANOVA showed that there were significant differences between the different proficiency levels (high, intermediate, and low) regarding their preferences for printed text or electronic text in male and female groups. Interestingly, both the males and females in the high proficiency group preferred the printed text over the electronic text, and the students at the low proficiency level preferred to use the electronic text over the printed text to read. In conclusion, these results can provide educators and instructors with text preferences for their students when they designate the reading medium which could improve readers’ reading comprehension performance in the long run.

In the last decade, the emergence of diverse students in a streamed class based on the mathematical ability brought upon challenges for the teacher to find an approach which could accommodate all students. This study aims to investigate the connection of students’ ability with their learning preferences in mathematics by applying differentiated instruction using tiered assignments and parallel tasks. This qualitative approach was used for this study from a sample of year 7 mathematics students within Pengukuhan Kemahiran Asas programme (PeKA) (the Basic Skills Strengthening programme), which revolved upon low ability for students with very weak numeracy skills. The findings in general revealed that there is an improvement in their performance.

Subject and purpose of work: The article’s goal was to discuss consumers’ preferences as to product delivery methods on the e-commerce market. Detailed goals were to identify the delivery methods chosen most often, and to indicate factors determining such decisions and their associations with selected variables. Materials and methods: An on-line questionnaire survey was conducted among 302 respondents. The questionnaire served as a measurement tool. Associations between variables were studied in a series of analyses employing Pearson’s χ2 tests, and comparative analysis was made using MannWhitney U tests. Results: InPost parcel lockers proved to be the most popular method to deliver products purchased online. Among the factors determining the choice of the delivery method, those valued most included delivery price, parcel collection flexibility, and no need to wait for a courier at home. Statistical associations were noted between the place of residence and frequency of online shopping, and the delivery methods chosen most often. Conclusions: The study results are useful for companies offering deliveries on the e-commerce market. They provide valuable information concerning popularity of particular methods, as well as factors determining decisions to choose various delivery methods on the e-commerce market

The studies were conducted in the summers of 2017 and 2018 on three watercourses in Central and North-Western Poland, the where maintenance works involving disposal of sediment and silt were performed in the autumn of 2017. Monitoring of the ichthyofauna in the Rurzyca River and the Tywa River before (year 2017) and after the maintenance works (year 2018) indicated a decrease in the number of species. Altogether, 23 fish species were caught in all the watercourses. Out of these, 12 species were not recorded after the studied rivers had been dredged. A slight decrease in the number of fish species was observed in each studied river after the maintenance works. The values of physicochemical parameters obtained for each watercourse indicate a low quality of the waters. After silt had been removed from the watercourses, lower N-NO3values were observed at most research sites, whereas the N-NH4+ values increased significantly (except for one site on the Kanał Habdziński). Additionally, high volumes of P-PO43-were observed (except for sites 2 and 3 on the Kanał Habdziński and site 2 on the Rurzyca River). Maintenance works performed on small watercourses have a negative impact on the quality of waters and a less significant impact on the number of fish and biodiversity. This appears to be connected with migration of fish in the river during the maintenance works and avoidance of the consequent unfavourable conditions to gradually return to their habitats afterwards.

Przeprowadzono dwa eksperymenty, które dotyczyły preferencji konsumenckich w kontekście teorii samoregulacji Higginsa. W badaniu 1 (N = 134) testowano, czy chroniczne (RFQ – Regulatory Focus Questionnaire) i sytuacyjne ukierunkowanie samoregulacyjne (tj. aktywizowane eksperymentalnie) mają wpływ na ważność przypisywaną utylitarnym i hedonistycznym cechom produktu. W badaniu 2 (N = 240) sprawdzano, czy dopasowanie zgodnego (tj. produkt promocyjny i slogan promocyjny lub produkt prewencyjny i slogan prewencyjny) i niezgodnego przekazu reklamowego (tj. produkt promocyjny i slogan prewencyjny oraz produkt prewencyjny i slogan promocyjny) z chronicznym ukierunkowaniem samoregulacyjnym (RFQ) wiąże się z intencją zakupu reklamowanego produktu. Uzyskane wyniki w badaniu 1 wskazały na wpływ prewencyjnego sytuacyjnego lub promocyjnego chronicznego ukierunkowania samoregulacyjnego na ważność przypisywaną utylitarnym cechom produktu. Nie stwierdzono wpływu sytuacyjnego i chronicznego ukierunkowania samoregulacyjnego na ważność cech hedonistycznych produktu. Wyniki badania 2 wskazały na związek zgodnego promocyjnego przekazu reklamowego i chronicznego ukierunkowania promocyjnego z intencją zakupu produktu. Ponadto stwierdzono związek niezgodnego przekazu (tj. produkt promocyjny i slogan prewencyjny) i chronicznego ukierunkowania promocyjnego z intencją zakupu produktu. Związek zgodnego prewencyjnego przekazu reklamowego i chronicznego ukierunkowania prewencyjnego z intencją zakupu był nieistotny statystycznie.
Two experiments were carried out to examine consumer preferences in the context of Higgins’ Regulatory Focus Theory. Study 1 (N = 134) tested whether chronic regulatory focus (RFQ) and momentary regulatory focus affect the importance attached to functional and hedonic product attributes. Study 2 (N = 240) checked whether the regulatory fit of consistent or inconsistent advertisements (types of advertisement appeal: prevention and promotion, and types of products: functional and hedonic) and chronic regulatory focus (RFQ) are linked with intention to purchase an advertised product. The results obtained in study 1 indicated that prevention momentary regulatory focus or promotion chronic regulatory focus influence the importance attached to utilitarian product attributes, whereas no such influence was observed for the importance attached to hedonic product attributes. The results obtained in study 2 showed that consistent promotion advertising and promotion chronic regulatory focus affect the intention to buy a product. Moreover, the findings demonstrated that inconsistent advertisements (i.e. hedonic product and prevention advertising appeal) and promotion chronic regulatory focus affect the intention to purchase a product. It was also found that there is no significant influence of consistent prevention advertising and prevention chronic regulatory focus on the intention to buy a product.

The paper contributes to the literature on other-regarding preferences challenging the narrow self-interest assumption. Experimental evidence confirms that the same individuals might express different otherregarding preferences in different situations or contexts. The structure of their interaction, their relative positions in it might trigger different behavioral patterns. In this paper we propose a model of multi-level other-regarding preferences assuming that different levels are actualized depending on the context in which an individual has to take her decision. We analyze the experimental trust game letting the players have multi-level preferences. Under certain parameterization and asymmetric information assumption, we show that the share given up by the leader of the game in favor of the follower is strictly monotonically increasing with altruism of the former. It is also demonstrated that utilitarian social welfare is increasing with the leader’s altruism if the players are not extremely risk-averse. In the case when information for both players is incomplete, a separating equilibrium exists allowing to distinguish between leaders with different other-regarding preferences.

The main objective of this paper is to identify consumers’ behavior on the market by obtaining an opinion on the preferences in the choice of the shop as a place of purchase, the reasons for consumers to make purchases in retail chains and grocery stores, the factors affecting the choice of location as well as shopping areas which retail chains and grocery stores do not meet their expectations. The report contains the results of the conducted survey. The research concerned Lubuskie Voivodeship. The research sample was selected at random according to the age bracket. The minimum sample size for the study was set at 412 consumers. The total number of consumers was 531. The survey representativeness for Lubuskie Voivodeship has been statistically confirmed. The emergence of commercial networks influenced the changes in consumer behaviour, in terms of where and how purchases are made. The studies show that most respondents make purchases in trade networks because of the economic benefits: saving money and time. Commercial networks attract primarily customers with low prices and a wide range of goods. Grocery stores, however, located near the place of residence are rated as less cost-competitive, but customers of these shops notice other advantages in comparison with commercial networks.

The article addresses the issue of consumer preferences for brands of coffee in Poland (for ground coffee, instant coffee, coffee beans and instant cappuccino). The main source of the study is the results of primary research conducted using a structured interview (CAPI – Computer Assisted Personal Interview) on a nationwide sample of 800 coffee consumers. The results of the research which have been included in the article indicate, among others, ongoing changes in the preferences of Polish consumers regarding their choice of coffee brands. The results show that brands offered by small, local manufacturers are of little significance on a national level in terms of brand awareness, consumption, and consequently sales. Branded products offered by large corporations such as Jacobs, Nescafe, Lavazza and Tchibo play a major role in the coffee market in Poland.

This paper describes using current literature and research a problem that has plagued social scientists for centuries, see that of „moral sentiments?. Human beings are inherently social by nature and hold certain regard for others? opinions (esteem preferences) as well as for others generally (altruism). It is argued in the article that such preferences may in fact be consistent with a core rational human agent. It is furthermore argued that the lack of regard for such preferences in social sciences research (and particularly within the domain of economics) severely weakens models and theories in the respective disciplines. A few potential avenues for including social preferences writ large into social science (read: economic) modeling are outlined.

The measurement of preferences can be based on historical observations of consumer behaviour or on data describing consumer intentions. In the latter case, the measure-ment of preferences is performed using methods which express consumer attitudes at the time of research. However, most of these methods are very laborious, especially when a large number of objects is tested. In such cases incomplete analyses may prove useful. An incomplete analysis involves the division of objects into subgroups, so that each pair of objects appears at exactly the same frequency and all objects are in each subgroup. The purpose of the work is to compare two incomplete methods for measuring the similarity of preferences, i.e. the triad method and the tetrad method. These methods can be used whenever similarities are measured on an ordinal scale. They have been com-pared in terms of their labour intensity and ability to map the known structure of ob-jects, even when all pairs of objects in subgroups cannot be presented equally frequent-ly.

The aim of the present study was to assess the propensity for risk taking among patients with obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome by means of a single-outcome gambling task that involved actual monetary losses and gains. We recruited 23 patients and 17 controls matched for sex, age and education. To explore the influence of previous outcomes on risky behaviour, we calculated the proportion of risky choices following sequences of one, two or three consecutive gains or losses. Patients with OSAS made significantly more risky choices than the controls. However, like the controls, they made more risky choices after two and three losses than after one, and fewer risky choices after two and three gains than after one. Their level of impulsivity did not differ from that of the controls. Our results show that OSAS induces a shift towards risk preference, but the ability to fully monitor and control ongoing behaviour remains intact.

Abstract: The paper discusses appeals to pride and compassion as emotional strategies for mobilization in political communication, developing the Emotional Rescue Model of enthusiasm, anger, and fear. Exploring general results of brain activity, facial expressions, cognitive responses, attitude change, and prosocial behavior, it examines how compelling pride-related and compassion-related narratives are. Moreover, it considers the possibilities of targeting emotional content to specific audiences, verifying how results correspond with participants’ empathy, political preferences, and attitudes toward collective remembrance. The paper explores age, gender, and election attendance as other possible factors correlated with the outcomes of manipulation. In conclusion, it suggested that appeals to pride should target supporters of the cause, but compassionate narratives can address non-supporters and undecided recipients.

On the basis of empirical studies and available sources, the author presents tourism as undertaken by young Poles from Generation Y, with reference to demographic, and above all generational changes. She focuses on presenting tourism preferences and typical behaviour. The analysis shows that their behaviour is similar to those observed by Generation Y globally. This paper presents the usage of PCA in segmentation of students according to their food purchase preferences. The aim of this research was to select and describe segments of young people with their various food preferences and attitudes. The criteria of segmentation were descriptive and psychographic characteristics. The questionnaire survey was carried out in 2000 among students of 3 Rzeszów universities and 3 high schools in Rzeszów and Jarosław. The respondents were asked to rank the importance of factors determining food purchase. These factors were related to: product quality (attractive appearance, smell and taste, nutritional value, food safety, freshness, ease of preparation, attractiveness of packaging, and price) and psychographic factors such as: fashion and advertising influence, health care, food habits, diet, willingness to distinguish oneself, willingness to change one’s diet, sensitivity to environmental pollution. The PCA was used to reduce the data collection; there were 4 principal components isolated, explaining altogether 83.91% of variance. The first principal component was formed with price, smell and taste, ease to prepare, attractiveness and functionality of packaging. Respondents related to these factors can be referred to as “pragmatic” and their opposite as “thrifty”. The second principal component is formed with freshness, need to care about one’s appearance, going on a food diet. Respondents related to these factors can be referred to as “image-creators” and their opposite as “apathetic” . The third principal component is formed with nutritional value, food safety, need to care about one’s health and sensitivity to environmental pollution. Respondents related to these factors can be referred to as “modem” and their opposite as “traditional” . The fourth principal component is formed with attractive appearance of product, vulnerability to advertising and fashion, need to distinguish oneself. Respondents related to these factors can be referred to as “effect-makers” and their opposite as “conservative” .
W artykule przedstawiono zastosowanie analizy głównych składowych do segmentacji studentów ze względu na ich zachowania nabywcze na rynku żywności. Celem wykonanych badań było wydzielenie i opis tych segmentów spośród młodzieży ostatnich klas szkół średnich i studentów, które istotnie różnią się postawami i preferencjami na rynku produktów żywnościowych. Podstawę segmentacji stanowił zespół czynników deskryptywnych i psychograficznych. Badania wykonano w 2000 r. metodą bezpośredniego wywiadu na terenie trzech szkół wyższych Rzeszowa oraz trzech szkół średnich (w Rzeszowie i Jarosławiu). Do respondentów skierowano Pytanie o subiektywnie odczuwaną ważkość - przy podejmowaniu decyzji o zakupie żywności - wskazanych cech jakościowych produktów żywnościowych oraz czynników psychograficznych. Chcąc wykonać redukcję danych i zachować jednocześnie informacje zawarte w ich zbiorze, zastosowano procedurę analizy czynnikowej - metodą głównych składowych. Wyodrębniono 4 składowe główne wyjaśniające, łącznie 83,91% wariancji. Pierwszą składową główną formują: cena, smak i zapach, łatwość przygotowania do spożycia, atrakcyjność i funkcjonalność opakowania. Respondentów zwracających uwagę na te właśnie parametry produktu można by nazwać „pragmatykami” - ich przeciwieństwem są „konsumenci oszczędni”. Druga składowa główna reprezentowana jest przez: świeżość produktu, dbałość o własny wygląd, konieczność stosowania diety. Respondentów kierujących się przy zakupie żywności powyższymi przesłankami można by nazwać „image’owcami” - ich przeciwieństwem są konsumenci „apatyczni”. Z trzecią składową główną skorelowane są: wartość odżywcza produktu, bezpieczeństwo jego spożywania, dbałość o własne zdrowie i chęć zmniejszenia skażenia środowiska naturalnego. Respondentów zwracających przy zakupie żywności uwagę na powyższe aspekty można by określić mianem „nowoczesnych”; ich przeciwieństwem są konsumenci „tradycjonalni". Czwartą główną składową reprezentują: wygląd produktu, podatność na wpływ mody lub reklamy, potrzeba wyróżniania się w środowisku. Respondentów kierujących się przy zakupie żywności takimi motywami można określić mianem „efekciarzy” - ich przeciwieństwem są konsumenci „konserwatywni”.

The tests made and the follow-authors of the paper shows that today's consumers are diverse both in terms of the needs, tastes and preferences. This thesis confirms the need for studies of consumer behavior, which, more often, especially in Poland, shows the characteristics of smart-shopping streets of the phenomenon. Hence, the acquisition of knowledge about them - the belief authors of the paper - should be regarded as an important source of information that allows for proper targeting of the actions of traders in the business of creating original models. Market analyzes indicate that the place of real opportunity for smart shoppers are Outlet centers. Their biggest advantage is that they give you the opportunity to buy more products than in the ordinary mall, for the same amount. Therefore, to create their own unique style should use the principles of smart shopping streets of. Thanks to them, the customer will save less, plus your time, and shopping will become more pleasant. The focus on the consumer and their needs is not, of course, any discovery or innovation, because from the beginning of the market economy, it is assumed that the focus of the company's consumer. The change in this case is a different behavior than previously known. new consumer, which we define as "smart-shopper", which is not limited as ever, just a simple meet their needs. This knowledge, as well as access to relevant sources of information about products or services (Internet, telephone, promotional newsletters, catalogs, etc.) may consciously and rationally so select the various offers that appear in the available sources of information. Described is characterized primarily by consumers more willing to experiment and take risks as compared to the rest of society. The result of this behavior is the low degree of loyalty and skeptical attitude to brands. In general, the consumer of this profile also knows his worth, knowing what he needs. Often, too (which is probably one of the most important for the national carried traders question) willingly loudly and publicly like to express their opinions on the purchased product structure - service. To conclude this brief discussion on the profile and behavior of modern consumers, which are only a background for further analysis presented in this paper studies consumer should be added that the behavior described entities also affects many other factors (both external and or internal). The consumer preferences are the main issue in the study of their behavior on the market. Consumers makes of such elections to maximize the benefits achieved with the existing budget constraints. All choices are made individual preferences, tastes, habits, which are called preferences. Conjoint analysis is based on the decomposition of the overall desirability of the product, which is described by means of the selected attributes. The decomposition is performed by measuring the total preferences are considered the dependent variable and is identified with the total utility. Model is a model of consumer attitudes compensation, which means that the buyer in their assessments compensates unattractive product attributes its attributes attractive. The article presents a method of testing conjoint analysis of consumer preferences, and the results were discussed on the example of regional food consumers. The final result of analysis is developed profile of the product and the designated characteristics describing potential buyers.

Article presents tax preferences in Czech Republic and Poland in the comparative aproach. The aim of the comparative study is to show how particular problems can be tackled by different countries by different measures. Both in Poland and the Czech Republic it is possible to identify common problems in the area of the tax law. One of such problems is an appropriate shape of tax preferences within the income tax contruction. The aim of the present article is to demonstrate how Poland and the Czech Republic, by shaping tax preferences within the construction of the income tax, tackle the problem of the taxpayer’s ability to pay. Further, it is shown how the two countries, by means of tax instruments, supplement their policy in areas as important as pro-family policy, supporting subjects implementing public tasks, the pension system, policy on people with disabilities, and housing policy.

Purpose of the study was to identify and diagnosis of opinions, preferences, behaviors and expectations of the citizens of cities with respect to agritourism. Surveys were conducted in March and April 2014 on a sample of 573 adult city dwellers. About 45,5% of the respondents were not interested in leisure in the countryside. The remaining part had a more positive attitude to this form of tourism – 3/4 of them were on a tourist farm, the others were planning the first trip of this type. As reasons for choosing this form of tourism was pointed chance to relax in peace and quiet, health-promoting natural values of rural areas, the desire to change the current method of relaxation and competitive price. While choosing a particular farm respondents took into account value for money and the convenience of driving directions. Information on farms searched on the internet and among friends. Tourists manifested great interest in active forms of leisure. A large part of them willingly met by rural cultural sphere. Recognizing behaviors, expectations and preferences of the main group of clients agritourism farms - city dwellers, should contribute to the improvement of the offer and dynamise development of this form of tourism.

The presented text is the result of reflections on the issue of perceiving visual messages which are an illustration of the content of printed text by adults as primary recipients of book illustrations addressed to children of pre-reading age. The article contains reflections on the pictorial character of our environment, it presents the underlying assumptions of the strategy of recognizing image preferences related to book illustration and trends in the preferences of adult intermediaries in the area of book illustration in the aspect of areas of image realization and artistic quality recognized as the dominant elements of imaging. The article concludes with fi nal reflections focused on the quality and value of observations in the context of a visual image in the form of a book illustration.

Measurement of consumer preferences is one of the most important elements of marketing research. In the measurement of consumers’ preferences Maximum Difference Scaling method can be used, which was implemented in the module MaxDiff (Best-Worst Scaling) of Sawtooth Software. The aim of the article is to present the author’s MaxDiff package for the R program, which is one of the most important no-commercial programs offered under the GNU GPL licence with free access to the source code. The article presents some functions of the MaxDiff R package with the example of application of consumers’ preferences in empirical analysis.

In aging populations osteoporosis is a serious problem. Low adherence to osteoporotic therapies is a well-known fact. There is a crisis in the therapy of osteoporosis: even with a diagnosis of osteoporosis or after an osteoporotic fracture there are patients without adequate therapy. The aim of the study was to analyze the association between the patients’ subjective importance of osteoporosis and medication adherence, quality of life, depression status and self-reported socio-economic factors, and find the risk groups which can be identified in the community pharmacy setting to improve the quality of care of osteoporotic patients. A cross-sectional study was conducted in four public hospitals in Hungary. Medication adherence was measured by the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale, quality of life was measured by the EQ5D-3L, depression status was checked by the Beck Depression Scale. Patients were asked to what extent their life was affected by osteoporosis compared to their chronic co-morbidities. Three patient groups were analyzed: High, Low and No osteoporosis importance groups. Statistical analyzes were carried out by SPSS program. Significant differences were found between the groups of osteoporosis importance in age, T-score, working status, type of the medication, existing fracture, frequency of pain and number of chronic diseases. The main target of pharmaceutical therapy management is to maintain a therapy-length lasting, periodic contact with the osteoporotic patient to improve the patients’ subjective perception of quality of life. Improving the importance of the disease in patients with low osteoporosis importance could help to improve the patients’ quality of life.

Vegetables are a basic element of each diet and their relatively low consumption in Poland is a stimulus to look for new attractive forms of the products. This paper presents an outline of production technologies of dried vegetable snacks and results of a questionnaire on vegetable consumption and social acceptance of new products in the area as described in this paper. The new processing technologies of vegetable snacks are based on a drying method that generates products attractive in terms of physical and chemical properties. A questionnaire survey shows that interest among respondents to buy snacks made of root vegetables is highest with respect to carrot-based products. The respondents highly assessed visual properties of the new product, primarily the colour and shape.
Warzywa to podstawowy element diety, a ich relatywnie niskie spożycie w Polsce skłania do poszukiwania nowych, atrakcyjnych form produktów. W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono zarys technologii produkcji suszonych przekąsek z warzyw oraz wyniki badań ankietowych dotyczących spożycia warzyw i akceptacji społecznej dla nowych produktów w zakresie przedmiotowym opisywanym w niniejszej pracy. Nowe technologie produkcji tzw. snacków warzywnych, oparte na metodzie suszenia, pozwalają uzyskać atrakcyjne pod względem właściwości fizyko-chemicznych produkty. Z przeprowadzonych metodą ankietową badań wynika, że skłonność respondentów do zakupu przekąsek z warzyw korzeniowych była największa w przypadku produktów marchwiowych. Respondenci wysoko ocenili walory wizualne nowego produktu, w tym głównie barwę i kształt.

Celem pracy było poznanie preferencji konsumentów i przyczyn wyboru dań różnych kuchni narodowych. W badaniu ankietowym wzięło udział 150 osób. Najbardziej popularną wśród respondentów była kuchnia włoska ze względu na smaczne dania, dostępność produktów i przystępne ceny posiłków. Nad inne przedkładano też kuchnie turecką i chińską. Są one popularne ze względu na niskie ceny dań, liczne placówki gastronomiczne, oryginalność i prozdrowotny sposób przygotowania posiłków. Według ankietowanych dostępność dań danej kuchni, ich cena i smak są bardziej istotne niż prozdrowotne żywienie.
The aim of the study was to determine consumer preferences and the reasons of selection of various dishes of national cuisines. One hundred and fifty persons participated in the survey. It was found that respondents were choosing Italian cuisine most commonly because of the delicious dishes, the availability of products and affordable meals. Respondents also indicated a preference for Turkish and Chinese cuisine. They are popular among them because of the low prices of meals, numerous catering establishments, as well as the originality of cuisine and preparing meals in health-promoting way. According to the respondents, the availability of ethnic dishes, their price and flavour are more important than healthy nutrition.

This paper has a methodological and empirical character. Its aims at analysis the changes that have occurred in the preferences of the University of the Third Age members from 2009 to 2013. The study used two methods of asymmetric multidimensional scaling: the gravity unfolding analysis and the drift vectors method. Gravity unfolding analysis was used for the graphical presentation of the respondents' preference similarities in a definite period, and the drift vectors method was used to indicate the direction and the strength of this changes.

lthough the literature about the objective socio-economic characteristics of the Italian North-South divide is wide and exhaustive, the question of how it is perceived is much less investigated and studied. Moreover, the consistency between the reality and the perception of the North-South divide is completely unexplored. The paper presents and discusses some relevant analyses on this issue, using the findings of a research study on the stated locational preferences of entrepreneurs in Italy. Its ultimate aim, therefore, is to suggest a new approach to the analysis of the macro-regional development gaps. What emerges from these analyses is that the perception of the North-South divide is not consistent with its objective economic characteristics. One of these inconsistencies concerns the width of the ‘perception gap’, which is bigger than the ‘reality gap’. Another inconsistency concerns how entrepreneurs perceive in their mental maps regions and provinces in Northern and Southern Italy. The impression is that Italian entrepreneurs have a stereotyped, much too negative, image of Southern Italy, almost a ‘wall in the head’, as also can be observed in the German case (with respect to the East-West divide).

The aim of this paper is to present aggregation methods of individual preferences scores by means of distance measures. Three groups of distance measures are discussed: measures  which use preference distributions for all pairs of objects (e.g. Kemeny’s measure, Bogart’s measure), distance measures based on ranking data (e.g. Spearman distance, Podani distance) and distance measures using permissible transformations to ordinal scale (GDM2 distance). Adequate distance formulas are presented and the aggregation of individual preference by using separate distance measures was carried out with the use of the R program.

Consumer ethnocentrism is a concept defined as a consequent and conscious preference for local products over foreign, usually measured by using CETSCALE (Shimp & Sharma, 1987). Besides its popularity, this scale is criticized because of its too strong a normative and ideological character. We assume that consumer ethnocentrism also has a psychological aspect – it can be more automatic, sometimes unconscious, and also based on social identification mechanisms. To investigate these assumptions, we conducted three studies. The first one (N = 590), which was conducted in Poland, validated a new tool to measure consumer ethnocentrism: SCONET – a 6-item scale, and its relation to brand preference (BPM). Moreover, we used Cameron’s social identification scale (Cameron, 2004). The analysis showed that social identification with one’s own group does not directly explain the choice of foreign vs. local products (BPM) but this relationship is moderated by consumer ethnocentrism (measured by SCONET). The second study, conducted in Poland on a representative nationwide sample (N = 1002), confirmed that SCONET is a single-factor scale with good statistical parameters (confirmatory factor analysis). The third study, conducted in Indonesia (N = 323), was a cross-cultural validation of the SCONET scale and explored the relationship found in study 1 in other cultures. The results confirmed the relationship between SCONET, social identity, and brand preference (BPM) that was found in Poland.

The growth of research and development is a major driver of innovation in economies. Because the authorities of both EU and Poland fully recognize the importance of R&D, the question of their development has been addressed in the Europe 2020 strategy, as a consequence of which also Poland adopted the “Plan for Responsible Development”. R&D can be funded not only from direct increases in public expenditures, but also through the use of tax preferences aimed at the implementation of this objective. This paper investigates the scale and method of conducting R&D activity in enterprises, identifies changes in R&D expenditures in the context of the objectives set by the Europe 2020 strategy and discusses the principle, scale and significance of the income tax credit on R&D expenditures of enterprises.

In the last decade, creating and sharing videos online has become a mainstream movement and has led to some creators generating one personal video per day, also called daily vlogging. Although robust solutions exist to suggest photographs based on aesthetic criteria, the rising number of online videos created and watched means that such recommendation systems are required more than ever for videos. The main purpose of this paper is to transfer the skill of computational aesthetic classification of photographs to videos while developing new ways of investigating video creation. Using a dataset of photographs rated on aesthetic criteria by an internet community and recently developed feature extraction algorithms, the computational aesthetic classifier is capable of state-of-the-art photograph classification depending on aesthetic preferences learnt from people’s ratings. On a test set of YouTube videos, the same system then displays satisfying aesthetic classification results that consist of an attempt to match the provided human aesthetic quality ratings. Achieving a transfer of skill from photograph to video classification, the computational classifier is used to analyze the evolution of aesthetics in feature films; this highlighted the aesthetic classifier’s visual preferences and caused some interesting patterns to emerge that were related to filmmakers’ decisions. Aesthetic classification makes it possible to observe the evolution of aesthetics over the careers of daily content creators thanks to their abundant and regular online video content. It can aid the investigation into the impact of aesthetics on the popularity of online videos using the available metadata about the internet audience's appreciation. This can also provide a new tool for video content creators to assess their work and assist them in the production of content of higher aesthetic quality.

Introduction: It is notable that patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) have insufficient knowledge about their disease and are willing to be more involved in their treatment. Nowadays medical information is easily available and health-related topics state the third most frequent reason for using the Internet. Therefore, patient’s health-related self-awareness and willingness to take part in medical decisions have improved. The possibility of choice of specialized health services may have a positive effect on patient’s satisfaction. The aim of the study was to characterize the extent of Internet use for health information among a representative sample of IBD patients and to examine the effects that Internet and other sources of information about specialized health services have on patients’ choices of a doctor and hospital department. Materials and methods: In total, 135 IBD patients admitted to the Department of General and Colorectal Surgery at Medical University of Lodz were asked to complete an anonymous questionnaire. Only 123 fully completed questionnaires were included for analysis. The study group involved 68 women and 55 men. Results: A total of 85.4% IBD patients used Internet in order to gather medical information about their disease. Age of those patients was significantly lower than of those patients who did not use Internet. The most reliable source of information about physicians was Internet. Opinions and recommendations gathered from the Internet have a notable influence on patients’ preference of hospital department and attending physician. Conclusions: A majority of patients used Internet as a source of medical information related to IBD. Opinions obtained from the Internet seem to be the most reliable regarding attending physicians treating IBD patients.

The sex and age of the physician performing the digital rectal examination (DRE) procedure is one of the parameters influencing patients’ comfort. It is postulated that the stress related to DRE during admission to the surgical ward may affect the compliance. The aim of the study was to characterize patients’ preferences according to their sex, age, socioeconomic status and according to DRE-related variables. Material and methods. Patients admitted to the Department of General and Colorectal Surgery at Medical University in Łódź between October 2014 and June 2015 were asked to complete a questionnaire regarding their sex, age, ethnic background, socioeconomic status and preference for a physician performing the DRE during admission to the surgical ward. Results. The study enrolled 225 patients, 52% (n=117) women and 48% (n=108) men. Most patients 73.3% (n=244) expressed no preference for sex of the physician performing the DRE during admission, while 22.7% (n=51) preferred a same-sex physician. Analysis showed that the age, female sex, lower education status, small amount of comorbidities and number of hospitalizations, and no previous colonoscopy experience were all associated with preference for a same-sex physician. Conclusions. In our study most patients expressed no preference for sex of the physician performing the DRE during admission to the surgical ward. However, over one-tenth of patients reported such preferences. Most of these patients preferred a same-sex physician. It is important to offer these patients the choice of physician performing the DRE. Addressing patients’ preferences may improve the atmosphere in the clinical environment, reduce stress, and facilitate better treatment.

The real estate market is considered to be one of the least technologically advanced markets. Despite this, attempts are made to implement modern technologies referred to as Prop-Tech. The aim of this study is to assess customers’ expectations in the use of modern technologies in the process of buying and subsequent use of flats on the local primary residential real estate market. The study has been conducted in order to achieve the above-mentioned goal. A survey questionnaire was used as a research tool. The subjects were young people (up to 35 years of age) from the area of Poznań (non-random sample selection, sample size n=220). Based on the research, it can be concluded that there is a large group of customers that are aware of modern technologies and claim that they would be willing to pay more for the technologies they choose. Probably this number could be increased if the buyers were pointed to specific savings from investing in modern solutions. The adopted spatial scope (city of Poznań) results from the specificity of this research area. And although there are no substantive grounds for major generalisations, taking into account the size of the market in Poznań, it can be assumed that in other large Polish cities customer preferences are similar.

Celem pracy było ukazanie możliwych powiązań pomiędzy strukturą osobowości respondentów a ich preferencjami turystycznymi. W tym celu przebadano studentów Turystyki i Rekreacji z Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego. Badania zostały poddane analizie i ukazane w formie tabel. W niniejszej pracy wykorzystano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego z zastosowaniem dwóch kwestionariuszy ankietowych.
The aim of this study was to show possible links between the structure of the respondents personality and their tourist preferences. Therefore, the students of Tourism and Recreation at the University of Rzeszów were taken as the respondents. The research has been reviewed and presented in the form of tables. In this study the authors used the method of diagnostic survey using two survey questionnaires.

In most studies of voting behavior, political preferences are explained at the level of the “country, election, electoral cohort or individual voter” (Franklin 2004). Notably absent from these studies is the impact of voters living abroad. Their importance is not to be neglected, especially in democratizing states. This research targets the predictions that lie behind the turnout and preferences of Romanian emigrants. Romanian Diaspora consistently votes for parties and candidates that promise reforms. This vote is associated with liberal economic policy preferences and support for minority groups. I test these hypotheses with elections results data from 2000 to 2016 coupled with data collected from Votulmeu.com an online Voting Advice Application from the 2012 parliamentary and 2014 presidential elections in Romania.

Agrotourism is a form of alternative tourism which means that it is not being organized by specialized tourist offices, on a mass scale. It is frequently considered to be rural tourism but in fact it is not. Rural tourism is defined as temporary residence at private summer houses, boarding houses, small camp cities etc. Overwhelming majority of researchers investigating the problem lean towards opinion that agrotourism is strictly connected with a farm. Principal purpose of the paper was to discuss opportunities of practising agrotourism in Czorsztyn commune. The issue was presented in the context of existing in the commune agrotourist associations as well as the results of poll inquiries which were carried out at the commune among tourists resting on agrotourist farms.

Pension systems are a major part of the political economy of current societies – much beyond providing old-age income security. The well-known demographics of population aging as well as globalization today challenge their financial viability. Later retirement seems to be a good way to meet these challenges. However, it is not only unpopular but also inequitable in terms of differential longevity. The paper first discusses these problems, with a particular focus on the social stratification of mortality. It then analyzes the preferences towards retirement age at several levels:  in terms of attitudes towards public spending on pensions or towards the state’s responsibility in this matter, of support for pension policy alternatives, and of preferred individual age of retirement. Results show that large majorities across all age groups are in favour of more government spending on pensions. There is a substantial amount of ‘involuntary retirement’, meaning that people would have preferred to work longer than they actually did, as well as a somewhat lower amount of ‘involuntary work’, but the preferred ages are everywhere below 65, and in some countries still below 60. Finally, the paper examines the policies of raising the retirement age adopted during the last two decades. What has especially been lacking in these policies is a consideration of socially differentiated longevity.

This paper centres to the presentation of analyzed potential relations between the determinants of purchasing decisions regarding insurance products and socio-demographic variables, i.e. age, gender, place of residence, income, occupational status, and number of people in the household. The authors also examined whether making financial decisions in a household determines purchasing decisions concerning insurance products. The main hypothesis is: from the perspective of an elderly customer, inherent features of an analyzed insurance product are more vital than aspects regarding the sales process. The analysis was conducted using the ordered logit model, where factors determining purchases of insurance products were used as dependent variables.

In this paper, the author deals with the saving profiles of households in relation to the perception of their subjectively preferred incomes. The author shows that household savings are influenced by a behavioral attitude concerning the evaluation of one’s household income. The variable used in the analysis of household behavior is an income preference ratio constructed by the author. This variable is computed as a ratio of the subjectively preferred income as declared by the household head to the current disposable income of the household. An analysis of the income preference ratio has been conducted with respect to the age and gender of the household head. It shows that women as heads of households generally have lower expectations regarding preferred income and that income preferences vary according to the age of the household head, being the highest at a young age. Household savings are correlated with the level of current disposable income and income preferences. Positive household savings can even be observed among households with very low incomes. Savings rise significantly in households with income higher than “sufficient” and are very high in households with “good” and “very good” income. The results of the analysis show that the income preferences of Polish households tend toward higher income levels than the actual level of disposable income. The propensity to save suggests that the financial condition of Polish households may be better than subjectively perceived and declared by the household head. The subjectively preferred incomes of households positively influence household saving profiles, with the exception of households with “insufficient” incomes. The research is based on 2004 data for 32,000 households from Household Budget Surveys for Poland.

Objectives: The neoclassical economic framework is a dominant approach in both theoretical and applied fields, such as public policy design. Despite the substantial amount of criticism towards the neoclassical assumptions of rational choice and obstacles related to preference aggregation, there is a minor concern regarding the underlying philosophy of the mainstream public policy design, namely static social utility maximisation under exogenously given social preferences.This paper analyses the inherent biases of the public policy based on the neoclassical background, attempting to prove that although such an approach can theoretically lead to the socially optimal outcome, it is hardly in line with the long-run social survival and development objectives. Other than this, the paper attempts to explore how incorporating alternative approaches towards individual and collective rationality into the theory of social choice can allow for designing a more sustainable public policy. Research Design & Methods: The paper presents the review of the relevant literature alongside the theoretical inquiry into the underlying logic and philosophy of the neoclassical approach towards the public policy design as well as the most relevant non-mainstream theories. Findings: It is demonstrated that the assumptions behind the neoclassical framework are inconsistent with the notions of social evolution and social sustainability. Implications / Recommendation: The persistent idea that public policymakers should attempt to maximise social utility implies artificial limitations for public policy as well as ill-designed goals and objectives. There is a strong need to reconsider the appropriateness of using the neoclassical analytical framework in public policy design. Contribution / Value added: The framework discussed in this article serves as the ground for more sustainable public policy design principles.

Results of consumer researches showed that milk is still a very popular and invaluable component of food model of Polish consumer. Only the consumer preferences were changing in relation to sort of milk, the form of its package or place of buying and quantity of buying. The main objective of this paper was to show selected aspects of consumer behaviors associated with liquid milk on the instance of Poznań city households.
Celem niniejszego opracowania było przedstawienie wybranych elementów zachowania konsumentów na rynku mleka spożywczego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem preferencji w odniesieniu do rodzaju wybieranego mleka, formy opakowania, miejsca zakupu oraz częstości i wielkości zakupu.

This article presents research on value preferences of eleven-year-old fifth grade pupils. Differences between two groups of gifted pupils were observed - between 71 contemporary pupils and 229 pupils in ELSPAC in the years 2002 - 03. The identical identification criteria were used in the selection of both groups. By selecting questions from the ELSPAC questionnaires we compared the value preferences data of both of the gifted groups. We were dealing with research questions: which values the gifted prefer in friends, which priorities of life values they have, and which one is the most important for them. No statistically significant differences were found in the comparison of the majority of the values of the two groups. In the evaluation of friends, all the respondents most preferred the item “how you get along“ and then “their reliability“. The most significant difference was found in the item “the gain from your friendship with them“ which moved from the 15t to the 5t place in 10 years. No statistically significant differences were found in the question of life values between the two groups of gifted children in our data set except for the item “personal property,“ which was more important for the gifted of 2012. The most important value for both of the groups was “family relations“ ahead of the item “health“ and “having friends“.

INTRODUCTION The eating preferences and habits initiated from the beginning of our life have a significant impact on proper nutrition through our lifetime. Parents play a major role in this process because their children learn from them what is healthy and what is not. The main objective of the work is to assess the food preferences of children aged 7-10 years, taking into account the views of children and their parents. An additional aim is to demonstrate the correlation between the frequency of consumption of selected products, and their declared level of acceptance. MATERIALS AND METHODS During our research we focused on a group of 110 children aged 7–10 and parents who live in Zabrze and Ruda Slaska. Both groups were asked to take part in a survey by filling in two authorial questionnaires. Statistical analysis was conducted based on χ2 Pearson’s test. RESULTS Most of the meals consumed from the analysed group of products were approved of by the children. The research showed that 92% of the children liked apples very much. Out of vegetables, 67% of the children preferred cucumbers. Out of dairy products, 62% of the children selected milk and 56% indicated fruit yogurt as their preferred products. Sour fermented dairy products were defined as products that were the most disliked by children, i.e. 55% of children disliked buttermilk, and 20% of children disliked dark/ whole grain bread. CONCLUSIONS The eating habits and preferences of children are well known by most of their parents. However, this research has not shown the relationship between the level of acceptance of the products and the frequency of their consumption. The results gathered during this research have shown that there is a need to educate both children and their parents to make sure that they understand the rules of good eating habits and its influence on the development of growing children.
W S T Ę P Na prawidłowe żywienie wpływają nawyki i upodobania żywieniowe, które kształtują się od najmłodszych lat życia. Ważną rolę w tym procesie odgrywają rodzice, od których dziecko uczy się tego, co jest zdrowe, a co nie. Celem głównym pracy jest ocena preferencji żywieniowych dzieci w wieku 7–10 lat, z uwzględnieniem opinii dzieci i ich rodziców. Celem dodatkowym jest wykazanie zależności między częstością spożycia wybranych produktów a deklarowanym poziomem ich akceptacji. M A T E R I A Ł I M E T O D Y Badaniem objęto grupę 220 osób, w tym 110 uczniów w wieku 7–10 lat mieszkających w Zabrzu i Rudzie Śląskiej oraz grupę 110 rodziców dzieci, wykorzystując dwa autorskie kwestionariusze ankiety. Dokonano analizy statystycznej używając testu χ2 Pearsona, przyjmując poziom istotności α = 0,05. WYNIKI Większość produktów spożywczych z analizowanych grup żywności była akceptowana przez dzieci. W badaniach wykazano, że najbardziej preferowanymi owocami były jabłka, które 92% dzieci bardzo lubiło. Spośród warzyw, najchętniej uczniowie spożywali ogórki (67%), a z grupy produktów mlecznych mleko (62%) i jogurt owocowy (56%). Do szczególnie nielubianych produktów zaliczano fermentowane przetwory mleczne, takie jak maślanka, której nie lubiło 55% dzieci, kefir (35%) i ciemne pieczywo (20%). WNIOSKI Zdecydowana większość badanych rodziców dobrze zna upodobania żywieniowe swoich dzieci, nie wykazano jednak w badaniach zależności między poziomem akceptacji produktów a częstością ich spożycia. Wyniki badań wskazują na potrzebę edukacji żywieniowej zarówno dzieci, jak i ich rodziców z zakresu zasad prawidłowego żywienia i jego wpływu na rozwój dorastających dzieci.

Introduction: Local governments should see striving for a sustainable development of their towns, cities, municipalities and communes as a key policy objective. Achieving that objective requires that the needs and preferences of local communities are properly identified and recognised in various areas, including the housing market – a specific segment of the real estate market that is characterised by its locality and uniqueness, and which serves to accommodate the needs of households, both the basic ones (such as physiological needs, security or belonging) and those higher up the hierarchy (such as esteem or self-actualisation). Aim of the paper: This paper presents data on dwelling size preferences in the local housing market in Poznań, showing that such preferences remained unchanged over 2010-2021. The paper identifies housing affordability as a potential limiting influence on such changes and a factor that may negatively affect the sustainable development of both the city and its population. Materials and methods: The paper uses relevant aggregate data on the real estate market, including those found in publications from Statistics Poland (GUS) and the National Bank of Poland (NBP), and the results of research conducted by the Poznań University of Economics and Business, Department of Investment and Real Estate. Results and conclusions: The results show that the local housing market saw no changes in dwelling size preferences over 2010-2021.On average, dwelling units bought are not big – they have two or three rooms and an area of around 50 sqm. This is caused by relatively low housing affordability in Poznań (too low incomes in relation to dwelling prices), giving rise to concerns regarding proper and sustainable development of local communities going forward.

The main aim of this article is to show to what extent social mobility weakens cultural barriers. The findings are based on the results of a study on the stratification of musical tastes conducted in Poland in 2019 on a nationwide random sample. We demonstrate that upwardly mobile individuals adapt more to their status of origin than to their new position. Our results also disconfirm hypotheses concerning the “socialization” of downwardly mobile individuals to the highbrow culture. It shows that individuals moving down are closer to the lower classes in participation in culture as compared to “stayers.” The results suggest an important shift: the upwardly mobile have ceased to translate their occupational success into a more esteemed culture to gain social approval. Respectively, the skidders do not resist the status implications of downward mobility by denying failure and striving to compensate socio-economic degradation with sharing their tastes with their status peers.

The uncertain equivalence method (UE) is a newly proposed technique for elicitation of 1-D utilities in the case of monotonic preferences. Previous publications argue that the rationale behind the introduction of this technique is that UE estimates are not influenced by certainty effect, UE elicits points that well describe the curvature of the utility function, which is somewhat closer to the true function than the one of the lottery equivalence method (LE), and there is no increase in the width of the elicited UE uncertainty intervals compared to those of the certainty equivalence method (CE). This paper analyzes these assumptions quantitatively on the basis of empirical data from 104 volunteers who constructed their utility functions over monetary prizes using CE, LE and UE. The data was analyzed with the help of four one-tail statistical tests for paired samples. Results showed that: 1) UE results are not influenced by the certainty effect, unlike CE; 2) the UE utility function is more curved than that of LE, but that might be associated with the better selection of approximation nodes and not with the certainty effect; 3) the length of the UE uncertainty intervals is greater than that of the CE intervals, perhaps because of higher complexity of the method, but the increase is only by 30%.

W artykule przedstawiono skąd dojeżdżają na Politechnikę Lubelską pracownicy i studenci oraz ich preferencje trans-portowe. Do analizy wykorzystano narzędzia informatyczne takie jak dodatek Analysis ToolPak oraz PowerMap w programie Microsoft Excel.

Podlaskie Voivodship is located in a climatic zone perceived as unfavourable for pear production. This study examines production, trade and consumption of pears in Poland and argues that Podlaskie Voivodship can exploit the existing demand for pears in the region given the physiological opportunities resulting from the phenomenon known as parthenocarpy. Parthenocarpy permits production of pears despite the flower damaging spring frosts. Regionally important pear cultivars are recognized and consumed by residents in the area and in the neighbouring countries located to the East and Northeast of Podlasie. Although Podlaskie Voivodship plays a secondary role in tree fruit production in Poland, pear production is relatively more important in the region than in the country as a whole. Moreover, it appears that the pattern of large and small crops in the region and in Poland follow different pattern making Podlaskie Voivodship a reliable supplier of pears in when the pear crop may be particularly small in the country as a whole. The growing popularity of pears with Polish consumers and preferences for the familiar cultivars such as ’Beurre Alexandre Lucas’ or ‘Conference’ produced in the region bodes well for producers, but attention to quality is necessary in the very competitive fresh fruit market. Additional markets in the neighbroing countries may offer additional opportunities for growers, who could expand pear production and benefit the regional economy.

This paper tries to shed some light on factors influencing the positions of the new member states of the EU on Eastern Partnership in its initial phase. It utilises an analytical approach developed by Copsey and Haughton (2009) and argues that the two most important factors affecting positioning of newcomers towards the initiative are: perceived size and geography. While the new members were especially keen to support their immediate neighbours, they were using a common policy towards these countries to increase their presence and influence in the region since the initiative helped them to deal with neighbourhood issues they were not able to solve on their own. The paper suggests an amendment to the theoretical approach and proposes an assumption explaining positioning of the member states towards the third countries that better reflect the empirical evidence than the original framework. Moreover, the research showed that Poland differed from the rest of the new EU countries, was much more active and influential and rather resembled the old members. However, due to its not very positive image (caused by its assertive approach and strong effort to play a prominent role within the EU) its influence within the EU was limited and, therefore it proposed the Eastern Partnership together with Sweden that held a much better image.

In this article we make use of preference theory developed by Hakim (2000) in the context of reconciling work and family to cover and explain different patterns of retirement exit paths and retirement satisfaction levels in the Czech Republic. We propose that lifestyle preferences and values may help to explain why some older workers continue to work while others are determined to retire as early as possible. Three types are identified among the 55–65 age group: work oriented, retirement oriented, and adaptive. The data shows that self-perception of the respondent as being active or more rest-oriented is associated with actual labour market activity of the respondent. Different types also perceive and evaluate labour market exit differently, and most importantly they differ in their reaction to various labour market and pension policies and family/partnership conditions. In the discussion we challenge the notion of active ageing as a general “one-size-fits-all” policy and urge that more attention be paid to the role of individual values and preferences when looking at the organisation of latter life roles.

In recent years the Stołowe Mountains National Park has become an increasingly popular destination for the purposes of mountain tourism. Such tourism takes different forms throughout the year, but the most common is hiking. Its continuing popularity results from the close contact with nature it provides, along with the possibility of active leisure pursuits and exploration. The aim of the study is to describe the motivations, preferences and leisure behaviours of hiking tourists who visit the Stołowe Mountains National Park, through survey-based research in 2015 and 2016. The study will highlight the relationship between the respondents’ characteristics and their motivations, preferences and behaviour, to identify the main kinds of tourists.

The terms ‘left’ and ‘right’ cannot describe two extremes of a single ideological dimension. Instead, a bi-dimensional model including socio-cultural and socio-economic facets of leftism/rightism is postulated. Several studies conducted in the USA and Western Europe show a relative coherence of left-wing and right-wing orientation regarding both dimensions, whereas very diverse patterns can be found in the countries of Eastern Europe. In Poland cultural and economic leftism-rightism seem to be clearly negatively related. The general hypothesis in this paper claims that such ideological inconsistency is a product of coherence at the level of preferences for values, i.e. covariance within individualistic (Openness to change and Self-enhancement) as well as within collectivist values (Conservation and Self-transcendence). Based on a survey study (N = 750) conducted on a representative sample of Poles, it was shown that preferences for values made up two distinct dimensions: Openness to change vs Conservation, and Self-enhancement vs Self-transcendence. They are positively related but have fundamentally different relationships with political self-identification and ideology.

The objective of this contribution is to provide an analysis of consonant clusters based on the assumption that phonotactic preferences are encoded in phonological features of individual segments forming a cluster. This encoding is expressed by a set of parameters established for the following features: complexity, place of articulation, manner of articulation and voicing. On the basis of empirically observed tendencies of feature distribution and co-occurrence, novel phonotactic preferences for English word-initial consonant clusters are proposed. Statistical methods allow us to weigh the preferences and determine a ranking of phonological features in cluster formation.

Country of origin of a product is a key factor for a large group of consumers, although the importance is varied and depends on industry. Manufacturers and retailers aware of the importance of this factor are trying to use it also in the case when the real place of origin is not favourable to them in respect of image, by misleading customers. The aim of the article was to present diverse scope of importance of country of origin for different segments of buyers in relation to the differ-ent product categories. An attempt was made to determine the methods and sources which are used by consumers to collect information about the country of origin. Research was conducted in Q4 2014, among 158 respondents, residents of Podkarpackie voivodship. The research indicates that consumers in many cases have a problem with identifying the country of origin, or declare that they are able to do so but the sources of information indicated by them are of doubtful credibility. The effect of country of origin is the impact of the available information about a specific country, its stereotypes or attitudes, on the evaluation of a product, which is identified with this country. Connotations, in connection with the country of origin may therefore affect the sales on interna-tional market. This depends to large extent on those positive and negative stereotypes concerning the country of origin of products, which are deeply rooted in consumers’ minds.
Kraj pochodzenia produktów jest czynnikiem istotnym dla sporej grupy konsumentów, choć ranga jego jest różna w zależności od branży. Producenci i handlowcy świadomi znaczenia tego czynnika starają się go wykorzystać także w przypadku, gdy ich rzeczywiste pochodzenie nie jest dla nich wizerunkowo przychylne, poprzez informacje wprowadzające klienta w błąd. Celem artykułu było przedstawienie zróżnicowanego znaczenia kraju pochodzenia dla róż-nych segmentów nabywców w odniesieniu do różnych kategorii produktów. Ponadto dążono do ustalenia sposobów i źródeł informacji, poprzez które konsumenci określają kraj pochodzenia. Źródłem danych stanowiących podstawę wnioskowania były wyniki badania ankietowego przeprowadzonego w IV kwartale 2014 r, wśród 158 respondentów, mieszkańców woj. podkarpackiego. Badania dowodzą, że konsumenci w wielu przypadkach mają problem z określeniem kraju pochodzenia, względnie deklarują, że są w stanie tego dokonać, ale wymieniane źródła informacji podają te deklaracje w wątpliwość. Efekt kraju pochodzenia oznacza wpływ posiadanych informa-cji o określonym kraju, jego stereotypu lub nastawienia do niego, na ocenę produktu, który jest z tym krajem utożsamiany. Konotacje, mające związek z krajem pochodzenia mogą mieć zatem wpływ na poziom sprzedaży firm działających na rynku międzynarodowym. Uzależnione jest to głównie od zakorzenionych u odbiorców tych pozytywnych, jak i negatywnych stereotypów, związanych z pochodzeniem produktów.

Głównym celem projektu było sprawdzenie, czy pomiędzy konsumentami usług gastronomicznych występują różnice ze względu na płeć i/lub wiek. W badaniu wykorzystano model RPB (Restaurant Preferences-Behavior Model), który składa się z 34 stwierdzeń pogrupowanych w ramach pięciu czynników determinujących wybory konsumentów na rynku usług gastronomicznych. Badania prowadzono metodą wywiadu bezpośredniego, ankietowani wyrażali swój stopień akceptacji dla każdego ze stwierdzeń w skali 1-5. Stwierdzono, że w badanej grupie respondentów różnice ze względu na wiek występują w czterech z pięciu czynników składowych modelu RPB, natomiast ze względu na płeć tylko w jednym. Zidentyfikowano również elementy czynnika (pytania), w zakresie których występuje największa liczba różnic. Uzyskane dane stanowią uzupełnienie istniejących badań w zakresie preferencji na rynku gastronomicznym i są dobrym punktem wyjściowym zarówno do formułowania hipotez badawczych w przyszłych badaniach naukowych, jak również do segmentacji konsumentów w praktycznej działalności obiektów gastronomicznych.
The main objective of the project was to check whether there take place between catering service consumers differences in terms of gender and/or age. In the survey, there was used the RPB (restaurant preferences-behaviour) model which consists of 34 statements grouped within the framework of five factors determining consumers’ choices in the market for catering services. The surveys were carried out by the method of face-to-face interview and the interviewees expressed their degree of acceptance for each of the statements in the scale from 1 to 5. It was stated that in the surveyed group of respondents the differences in terms of age took place in four of five factors, components of the RPB model, whereas in terms of gender – only in one. There were also identified elements of the factor (question), in terms of which there takes place the biggest number of differences. The obtained data are a supplement to the existing research as regards preferences in the market for catering services and they are a good starting point both to formulate research hypotheses in future research surveys and to carry out consumers segmentation in the practical activities of catering facilities.
Основной целью проекта была проверка, выступают ли между потребителями услуг заведений общественного питания отличия с точки зрения пола и/или возраста. В исследовании использовали модель RPB (англ. restaurant preferences-behaviour model), которая состоит из 34 утверждений, сгруппированных в рамках пяти факторов, предопределяющих выборы потребителей на рынке услуг предприятий общественного питания. Исследования проводи- лись по методу прямого интервью, а опрашиваемые выражали свою степень одобрения в отношении каждого из утверждений на шкале 1-5. Констатировали, что в обследуемой группе респондентов отличия по полу выступают в четырех из пяти факторов-компонентов модели RPB, тогда как по возрасту – только в одном. Выявили также элементы фактора (вопроса), в отношении которых выступает самое большое количество отличий. Полученные данные представляют собой дополнение существующих исследований в области предпочтений на рынке услуг общепита и они являются хорошей отправной точкой как для формулировки исследовательских гипотез в будущих научных исследованиях, так и для сегментации потребителей в практической деятельности объектов общественного питания.

Obecnie w społeczeństwie informacyjnym podstawowym narzędziem pracy, środkiem pozyskiwania, gromadzenia i przetwarzania informacji oraz komunikowania się jest komputer. Bez niego wręcz niemożliwe jest przetwarzanie i wykorzystywanie rosnących zasobów informacyjnych w organizacji. Na polskim rynku konsumenci mogą wybierać spośród przynajmniej kilkunastu marek laptopów w różnych przedziałach cenowych (od kilkuset do kilkunastu tysięcy złotych), różnych marek oraz wielu kanałów ich dystrybucji. W artykule przeanalizowano preferencje konsumentów, które stanowią podstawę do podjęcia decyzji o zakupie laptopów w aspekcie jakości. Następnie przeanalizowano ich zróżnicowanie ze względu na płeć, wykształcenie, markę oraz lojalność wobec producentów. Celem publikacji była konsumencka ocena jakości komputerów typu laptop.
Presently, in the information society a basic tool of work, a means of acquisition and processing of information and communicating is computer. Without it, impossible is the processing and using of information resources in organization. On a Polish market, customers may choose from at least a dozen brands of laptops in a various price ranges (from as low as few hundred zloty up to few thousand zloty), many brands and many ways of distribution. In the paper, customers assessment, which are the base to make a buying decision in quality aspect were analyzed. Next, the differentiation between attributes in view of variables formally characterizing a sample was analyzed. The purpose of the paper was consumer assessment of laptop computer quality.

According to the research conducted by Vohs, Mead, and Goode (2006, 2008), reminders of money cause people to behave self-sufficiently, and especially to reveal a reduced tendency to charitable behaviour. In this study, we wanted to establish if this tendency would be present in the dictator game, and if so, whether money activation would just change behaviour, or whether it would also change people’s evaluation of their own decisions. We assumed that people who revealed symbolic and instrumental money attitudes would react differently to money activation. As expected, money priming caused smaller money transfers compared to the control condition, and this effect was significant among those with symbolic attitudes toward money. Moreover, participants who transferred at least half of the sum after money activation declared stronger negative emotions and lower satisfaction with the decision than those who made similar transfers in the control condition.

Traditional elements are generally influenced as the symbols of cultural context that contains the sign of the past. Costume color study of Bangladesh mainly found through psychological thinking that depends on several factors, such as the use of traditional festival elements from history, costume color aesthetics, costume decoration colors of selected geographical regions To analyze costume color firstly, Zaltman Metaphor Elicitation Technique (ZMET) visual analysis method was performed that gives in-depth thoughts on research viewpoints; secondly, statistical analysis was done from research questionaries’ report, and the result has shown that the traditional colors analyzed from the visual analysis are significant. The findings of this analysis would be beneficial in establishing the concept of clothing color in Bangladeshi culture, also presenting an appreciation of the traditional context for the art design learner.

Some aspects of discounting of infinite streams of economic quantities (consumption, saving, utility) are considered. The main points of the paper may be summarized as follows. The philosophy of discounting concerns methods of evaluation and/or comparison of multi-period phenomena and processes. The techniques applied (numerical, analytical) may equalize the gravity of subsequent generations or privilege certain generations rather than other ones. They can – to some extent – influence quality of life and the chances of survival in future generations. These (quite natural) connections between discounting and intergenerational justice and sustainability have been pointed out. Systems of axioms for “ethical” and “sustainable” preferences are presented, together with some related (sub)disciplines. Inspirations derived mainly from psychology suggest the modification of the geometric discounting paradigm by slowing down the convergence of discount factors to zero. It should be pointed out that such “heavy tailed” discounting has proved to be useful (and become strongly recommended) for evaluation of a variety of long-time horizon undertakings. Some examples of non-classical discounting rules are given. Finally, the author’s proposal of modeling the duration of the world as a Poisson random variable has been formulated.

Fiscal preferences belongs to the measures of public policy which aim is supposed to fix the market failures. However, there is a shortage of studies which evaluates the effects of the fiscal instruments on enterprises from all sectors. Moreover, it is not clear how strong their influence in comparison to other external factors. One of the most important of the external determinants is the economic growth. Therefore, the aim of the paper is to analyze the effects of fiscal preferences on profitability of enterprises against the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and its components in Poland. We set three hypotheses but only two of them could be confirmed and only in some part. The effects of the fiscal instruments on profitability is positive although only for some kinds of enterprises. It was a little stronger impact than for selected macroeconomic variables connected with GDP. However, one must take into consideration that the impact of GDP or some of its components is negative and regards medium-sized companies.

Artykuł dotyczy rynku SVoD w Niemczech na tle rynku kinowego i innych (płatnych) rynków kina domowego. Rynek ten ukazano w perspektywie historycznej i współczesnej, nie zapominając o jego (możliwej) przyszłości. Przedstawiono jego wzrost, głównych graczy, charakterystykę widzów i wpływ na branżę produkcyjną w Niemczech. Ważne cezury tego rynku to pojawienie się pierwszej platformy SVoD (2006), start Netfliksa (2014), osiągnięcie wyższych przychodów z subskrypcji niż ze sprzedaży biletów w kinach (2019), pojawienie się platform należących do „starych studiów filmowych”: Disney i Paramount (2020-2022). Omówiono fenomen produkcji niemieckich originals. Przybliżono preferencje filmowe widzów streamingu. Wykorzystano raporty FFA, GfK, Goldmedia, a także inne publikacje dotyczące rynku streamingu w Niemczech. Przywołano książkę Rewolucja Netfliksa Olivera Schüttego, otwierającą i zamykająca rozważania.
The article discusses the SVoD market in Germany against the background of the cinema market and other (pay) home cinema markets. The market is shown in a historical and contemporary perspective, also venturing into its (possible) future. Its growth, main players, audience characteristics and impact on the production industry in Germany are presented. Important points in the timeline of this market are the emergence of the first SVoD platform (2006), the launch of Netflix (2014), the outbalancing of cinema ticket sales by subscription revenues (2019), the emergence of platforms belonging to the old film studios: Disney and Paramount (2020-2022). The article also describes the phenomenon of German original productions and zooms in on the film preferences of streaming audiences. Reports from FFA, GfK, Goldmedia, as well as other publications on the German streaming market have been used. Oliver Schütte’s book The Netflix Revolution is referenced, opening and closing the discussion.

Transport needs result from the essence of human needs (from the need for movement or from natural mobility) and from the scientific, cultural, economic or administrative activities carried out. They have a diverse character resulting from both objective and subjective reasons, and their consequence is the emergence of journeys. The specificity of these mobility can be analyzed in reference to various spaces related to the implementation of journeys. The purpose of the paper is to present the results of research carried out as part of the project Strategy for urban development of the Radom Functional Area (ROF). These studies concerned the recognition of transport users’ behaviours and preferences of commuting in Radom. The research was carried out in traffic generators performing the most important urban functions and defining the specificity of socio-economic processes in Radom.

W artykule zaprezentowano literaturę hipertekstową w kontekście preferencji czytelniczych młodych ludzi i pogłębiającego się kryzysu czytelnictwa. Autorka uzasadnia wartość e-utworów w rozwijaniu zainteresowań czytelniczych współczesnej młodzieży, wykazując, że dzieła cyfrowe dzięki przełamanej linearności, wielopiętrowej architekturze, multimedialności, zespoleniu typografii statycznej z kinetyczną gwarantują swoistą literacko-rozrywkową ucztę, a przy tym intelektualno-twórczą inspirację. Odbiorca z jednej strony obcuje z atrakcyjną hybrydalną strukturą i otrzymuje możliwość lektury opartej na dokonywaniu samodzielnych wyborów, a z drugiej – wciąż może rozwijać zdolność czytania ze zrozumieniem, wrażliwość estetyczną, inteligencję emocjonalną i racjonalną, wyobraźnię, a także inne różnorakie umiejętności: interpretacyjne, argumentacyjne, analityczne itd.
In the article hypertext literature is presented in the context of the reading preference of young people and the deepening crisis of readership. The author justifies the value of e-literature in developing the reading interests of contemporary young people, demonstrating that digital works thanks to broken linearity, multilevel architecture, multimediality, and the combination of static and kinetic typography, digital works, guarantees a special kind of literary and entertainment feast combined with intellectual and creative inspiration. On the one hand, the recipient assorts with the attractive hybrid structure and has the possibility of reading based on making one’s own choices; on the other – the reader could still continue to develop reading comprehension skills, aesthetic sensitivity, emotional and rational intelligence, imagination, as well as a variety of other skills: interpretative, argumentative, analytic etc.

The purpose of the paper was to establish and compare consumer preferences concerning the methods of fruit production (traditional or organic ones) in the years 2001, 2003 and 2006 and the relations between the preferences and the socio-economic and demographic features of the consumers. The analysis was conducted on the basis of the data from surveys carried out among the inhabitants of Lublin. Results of those surveys point out that certain features of the consumers such as the sex, incomes and the family type significantly differentiated preferences concerning the method of fruit production. Increased incomes were connected with greater acceptance of the organic method, and their decrease was related to greater frequency of indicating the conventional method. Interest in the method of production, while buying the fruit was significantly higher among men than among women. Declaring the willingness to pay more for organic fruit was also correlated with the consumers‘ sex. Besides, in 2006 it was not too strongly related to the incomes of the respondents. In the years 2001 and 2006 changeability of preferences concerning the willingness to pay a higher price for organic fruit and no change in the interest in the technology of fruit production while purchasing the fruit were shown.
Celem pracy było określenie i porównanie preferencji konsumentów dotyczących metody produkcji owoców (konwencjonalnej lub ekologicznej) w latach 2001, 2003 i 2006 oraz związków pomiędzy preferencjami a cechami społeczno-ekonomicznymi i de-mograficznymi konsumentów. Analizę wykonano na podstawie danych z badań ankietowych, przeprowadzonych wśród mieszkańców Lublina. Wyniki badań wskazują na to, że niektóre cechy konsumentów, jak płeć, dochody i typ rodziny, istotnie różnicowały preferencje w zakresie wyboru technologii produkcji owoców. Wzrost dochodów wiązał się z większą akceptacją metody ekologicznej, a ich spadek z większą częstotliwością wskazań na metodę konwencjonalną. Zainteresowanie metodą produkcji podczas zakupu owoców było istotnie wyższe wśród mężczyzn niż kobiet. Deklaracja zapłaty wyższej ceny za owoce ekologiczne była także współzależna z płcią konsumentów, a ponadto w 2006 roku – niezbyt silnie związana z dochodami ankietowanych. W latach 2001 i 2006 wykazano zmien-ność preferencji w zakresie deklaracji zapłaty wyższej ceny za owoce ekologiczne, a nie-zmienność zainteresowania technologią produkcji owoców podczas zakupów.

Sociologists traditionally focus on the power of socio-economic variables as drivers of aesthetic tastes and cultural practices, leaving other important factors outside the purview of analysis. As a remedy, this article makes use of recent progress at the intersection of the sociology of culture and network theory to show that individual interest in and preferences for art are also embedded in social relationships of a different kind. Data from a specially designed survey on personal networks and cultural tastes in Polish society is analyzed. Cultural taste is measured in detail by presenting respondents with ten color illustrations depicting different styles of visual art. These ten evaluations are then reduced to two significant dimensions (traditional vs. more modern art). The regressions analyses show distinct relations of network characteristics (such as heterogeneity, type of contacts, density, or associational membership) with the type of art preferred. The findings are interpreted in terms of social influence and affinity between cultural orientations (e.g., openness) and the manners in which social ties are developed and maintained. Additionally, the article sheds light on distinction patterns by arguing that status is claimed through specific (modern) preferences.

The main purpose of the article is to analyse the most important borrower characteristics determining preferences in the choice of the interest rate formula in mortgage contracts. Based on the PFSA statistics, the portfolio of newly-issued mortgages in 2016 was analysed to identify a group of consumers corresponding to the borrower characteristics who, in the light of European and global research, would be willing or obliged to choose a fixed interest rate. The conducted research shows that in Poland, the scale of the fixed interest rate choice in mortgage contracts is insignificant and represents only 0.2% of total mortgage debt. The analysis allows to identify a group of Polish consumers who should be given an option to choose a fixed rate when signing a mortgage contract. The size of the target group that should get acquainted with the offer of fixed-rate mortgages varies in Poland, depending on the chosen borrower characteristics. On the basis of the research, however, it can be incurred that in about 20% of the concluded contracts, there should be an option to choose the interest rate formula.

During the last year, the one of COVID-19 pandemic, the lives of many people have changed in many ways, one of them is media consumption. We wanted to verify whether “stay at home” recommendations influenced viewers’ preferences concerning films, their watching habits, motivation to choose a specific film and how media use is related to some psychological variables, mainly a sense of loneliness, self-esteem and pandemic psychological resilience. Results of the online survey showed that participants watch more films or series during the pandemic than before and that they prefer various genres. They more often use streaming platforms and go to the cinema less frequently compared to the period before the pandemic. Participants watch films more for both entertainment and as a way to get away from everyday reality than before. Cast, film topic and recommendations became less important when choosing a film. There was also found a weak, however significant correlation between describing oneself as a fan of a specific film genre and the pandemic psychological resilience. Results show that the pandemic psychological resilience is moderately, negatively related to loneliness. A positive, however weak, relation of pandemic psychological resilience to self-esteem was also found.

Niniejsze opracowanie przedstawia dorobek socjologii ekonomicznej z zakresu badań nad zjawiskami cen i wartości oraz przeciwstawia go uproszczonemu podejściu przyjętemu przez ekonomię neoklasyczną. Ta ostatnia postrzega wartość przez pryzmat ceny oraz zakłada istnienie stałych preferencji zatomizowanych jednostek funkcjonujących na izolowanych rynkach. Socjologia zakłada natomiast, że ani cena, ani pieniądzb nie są rzeczywistymi miernikami wartości oraz próbuje zrozumieć formowanie się cen nie jako wyniku indywidualnych preferencji, ale jako rezultatu społecznych i politycznych czynników warunkujących funkcjonowanie rynku.
This paper reviews the research of economic sociology on the phenomena of prices and valuation and contrasts it with the simplified approach of neoclassical economy. The latter perceives value through the prism of prices and assumes fixed preferences of atomized actors acting on isolated markets. Sociology posits instead that neither money nor prices are the true measuring rod of worth and tries to understand how prices are set not as an outcome of individual preferences, but as a result of social and political factors determining the functioning of markets.

Theoretical background: In the light of the sustainable development paradigm, the concepts and categories of public finance science require verification. This issue concerns, among others, taxes in terms of making them pro-ecological. Therefore, the necessity to research shaping sustainable taxes is justified not only by its importance and topicality but also by the fact that it is not sufficiently recognized in the literature. In particular, this regards research into the Polish tax system.Purpose of the article: The article aims to identify and assess pro-ecological real estate tax allowances and exemptions applied within the local tax sovereignty on the example of municipal communes of the Silesian Voivodeship.Research methods: The article employed literature studies (due to the specific nature of the subject – mainly domestic), analysis of the economic aspect of legal acts, in particular local law, simple statistical methods, and elements of comparative analysis. Empirical research was carried out on a full sample (49) of municipal communes of the Silesian Voivodeship. The analysis covered all resolutions of municipal councils from five years, i.e., from 2017 to 2021 (and in some cases also from earlier years), regarding real estate tax allowances and exemptions. In total, this amounts to 580 resolutions, the provisions of which were in force from 2018 to 2021 and are still applicable in 2022.Main findings: The study identified pro-ecological real estate tax allowance and exemption provisions, introduced under the tax sovereignty by the councils of the surveyed municipal communes. The authors proposed their own classification of the preferences in question and carried out their assessment, also in a comparative approach. The conducted research provides the basis for positive verification of the adopted research hypothesis, assuming that pro-ecological real estate tax allowances and exemptions are applied by municipal authorities to a limited extent. Directions for further research on the discussed issues were outlined at the end.

The study aimed to establish the relationship between values and people’s preferences for sustainable improvement in Nigeria’s indigenous housing context. The relationship was tested in SEM using ordinal survey data obtained between February and March 2022 with 241 valid samples. The mainstream values were statistically validated using CFA while the relationships were generated in the SEM. Results established a significant relationship between values and the people’s preferences for transformative improvements. The findings provide a foundation for long-term policy formation, practical transformative experimentation, and an empirical foundation for future methodological research.
