The aim of this article is a presentation of methodologies which refer to improvement of processes and products defined as Six Sigma. The workers' qualifications play the essential role in the implementation of improvement projects while utilizing these methodologies. The organizations which are using Six Sigma as the tool operating improvement try to actively include all the workers in realization of these projects. The employees have to have a cycle of intensive trainings. These courses could help them to acquire the knowledge which is necessary to use the tools and techniques for the implementation of improvements.

Growing competition, clients’ requirements as well as advances in technology make modern industrial enterprises search for a way of achieving and maintaining strong position on the market. One of the principal and at the same time necessary conditions to achieve this aim is continuous development of all of the processes in order to fulfil various clients’ expectations. Enterprises make use of different concepts and management methods which in significant way upgrade ongoing processes by raising their efficiency. One of such is the concept of ‘lean’ production - Lean Manufacturing. Management according to Lean Management rules allows to produce more with the use of less resources - at the same time approaching the aim which is to deliver clients the exact product they want. The process of resources use limitation is not easy to perform however, the concept of Lean Manufacturing by the application of chosen tools allows successfully and effectively to introduce ‘lean’ model of management in an enterprise and undertaking following improvement activities in every of its field.

The aim of the article was to present the results of statistical analysis of the ability of the process of repairing motor vehicles in the Polish dealer network. The article presents the results of research carried out on a sample of six organizations. In empirical proceedings, the following research methods were used: literature review, analysis of secondary research, observation, statistical analysis of process capability and network analysis methods. The second point presents the assumptions of statistical analysis of the process capability. Then, the structure of empirical proceedings was described. In the third point, the results of the basic empirical study were characterized. The next point of the article presents the results of the analysis of the process capability of the studied process using the CPM and PERT methods.

Tools which support and automate the execution of information processes may be created in a spreadsheet by following the author’s signature concept of “Microtools Based on the Relational Data Model”. While developing them, one must apply adequate solutions enabling representation of identified entities and ensuring data integrity as well as acquisition of the reports and collations assumed to be generated. This article addresses the problem of conformity between values of foreign keys in child entities and values of primary keys in parent entities. Four cases of relationships between a parent entity and a child entity have been discussed. One of the criteria that differentiates between these cases is the occurrence of a simple key or a composite key. Another applicable criterion is the sequence in which data are entered using the tool. With regard to all the identified cases, solutions that support data integrity have been presented and discussed. In accordance with the concept in question, the solutions proposed in the paper make use of standard spreadsheet features and components, without involving any additional code created in any programming language.

The world around us is a very complex and multi-parametric system, like the weather, traffic, operation of machines, production processes, service processes, etc. Understanding of the characteristics, operation and behaviour of these systems and processes is not easy due to their complexity. The design of optimal production and service procedures is an essential task for planners. The target is the increasing of the efficiency of the production and service and analysis of the effect of parameter changing. There are lot of tools and sophisticated methods for design, analysis and improvement of logistical processes. The most often used analysis tool is the simulation in the production processes. Our aim in this article is to show that the simulation can be used efficiently in case of analysis of service processes, not only in case of production processes. The simulation is available for bottleneck analysis of service activities not only for production processes. In this study the simulation of a service process was realized by the AnyLogic software. The relevance of the simulation technique for analysis of complex service processes is proved by a case study of a service and maintenance activity of a multinational shopping centre.

With reference to the current situation of national public hospitals, the article presents the possibility to implement the Lean Management concept in hospital management. Numerous common features connecting the management of commercial entities with the management of healthcare institutions are indicated. It has been stated that the management of contemporary organizations, regardless of the type of conducted operations, needs to focus on customer/patient satisfaction, financial liquidity and high quality. The purpose of the article is to assess the possibility to implement the Lean Management concept in hospitals. In particular, an attempt was made on the basis of a pilot survey to assess the introduction of the above concept in two selected hospitals. Critical analysis of the literature on the subject, the analysis of research results of other authors, casual interview, observation of practice as well as a survey based on the prepared questionnaire were used to achieve the purpose.

The article describes the problems of software process improvement. In the first part it presents five models for software process improvement: PDCA, SIX SIGMA, ISO, CMMI and IDEAL. The article points out the important role of reference models and process maturity assessment models in software process improvement. Next, it presents the draft of the concept for software process improvement, where the starting point is the strategy of improving the information system, taking into account issues of strategic management, enhanced with the use of methods and techniques of software engineering. The draft of the concept for software process improvement identifies five stages: identification problems, strategic research and situational analysis of the system, preparation strategy for improvement, preparation project and its execution.

Opis:

The aim of this research is to improve a warehousing process. Its operations are characterized by deterministic and stochastic parameters. In such circumstances, the classical approaches based on deterministic methods leading to better performance of the process would not provide the expected results. Thus, the authors propose the methodology of process improvement. Introduction of a new technical equipment and reassignment of tasks to employees was proposed. The problem has been solved, providing significant improvement of the warehousing process. The proposed methodology of simulation-based process improvement has been proposed and verified. The process map created as the result of process analysis facilitates and accelerates the simulation model construction. The possibility to reflect random values brings the model closer to reality and increases the credibility of results.

This paper concerns Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) which is one of lean tools applied for reduction of change over time on machines. It is a review paper on the basis of the literature collected from three electronic databases: Elsevier Science, Springer and E-resources from the library of Poznan University of Technology. The retrieved articles were screened following the inclusion/exclusion criteria. After applying the literature selection criteria 40 articles published between the years 2000-2017 were chosen. These papers were classified on the basis of the year of publication, the journal title, the main issue, tools and methods, type and also location. Their analysis revealed that SMED was applied in various range of enterprises in order to reduce time of setups and eliminate unnecessary activities which have no value for the process. It was also a useful tool for production process improvement as it may support lean tools in order to increase the process efficiency. The vast majority of papers was published in European countries. However, the increasing number of publications in recent years may suggest the increase of interest in this subject in different areas.

Thai jewelry is the world’s leading jewelry which has gained high reputation and recognition from customers worldwide. In the past decade, jewelry have become one of the top ten export product of Thailand with the current export value of around 58,000 million baht per year which is 3.4 percent of all Thailand export products. Due to the high competition in the world market, however, Thai jewelry manufacturers needs to continue to improve their product quality as well as process efficiency in order to gain more market share. Currently, computer-aided tools have become more powerful tool in jewelry production management. They have been used to design production process, plant and workstation layout, production planning, worker’s scheduling, and other decisive decision making in both high management and shop floor levels. This research demonstrates a case study of plant simulation application for jewelry production process improvement. The objective is to reduce bottlenecks and increase productivity in wax pattern and casting processes using line balancing. Various scenarios have been proposed in order to support different level of desired output rate due to the increase of demand. The results of line balancing and simulation models reduce bottlenecks. Hence, productivity is increased. The desired throughput rates are achieved with the minimum number of workers and machine in the system.

The visual management technique used in process improvement, i.e. value stream mapping (VSM) has been presented in the paper. Value stream mapping is one of the basic management tools in the context of Lean Management or Lean Production. It allows to visualize the flow of decision, information, material and their connections in the full production cycle (from the order, through planning, production, to shipping to the customer). VSM is a lean tool that gives the ability to create flows in the process before implementing changes. In this paper, the possibilities of changes planning based on the current and future status maps have been discussed. On the basis of the current state map (CSM), the areas requiring improvement and operations which efficiency is decisive and for the process have been designated. Particular attention has been paid to the possibilities of using VSM in unit production processes. In the paper has been proposed the two possibilities for company development in terms of the improvement technique in line with the Kaizen philosophy as well as the implementation of process innovations. Which means balanced development through the improvement of the existing process or an acute development strategy through the implementation of process innovations (which involves significant costs).

Analysis of production process enabling to identify weakness points in the company. It should be used in all the spheres of the company. The article provides the theoretic description of extrusion process and complaints which the company received from internal and external customers. The authors also describe a case study based on gained experience.
Dla każdego przedsiębiorstwa dokładna analiza procesu produkcyjnego, z uwagi na możliwość identyfikacji newralgicznych jego punktów, jest podstawą doskonalenia. Analiza ta swoim zasięgiem powinna obejmować wszystkie obszary przedsiębiorstwa. W artykule autorzy poddali analizie proces ekstruzji, a oceniając go uwzględnili zarówno własne doświadczenia jak i przesłanki teoretyczne. Dodatkowo przeprowadzili analizę reklamacji otrzymanych od klien-tów wewnętrznych jak i zewnętrznych. Wszystkie badania i analizy umożliwiły ocenę procesu i uszczegółowienie opracowanych zasad postępowania z wyrobem niezgodnym.

Issues related to the quality of the final product and the individual components that comprise it are important in every branch of the industry. This is especially true for the automotive branch, where the consequences of quality errors are very severe and costly. The article presents the use of the Six Sigma method for the improvement of the process of height measurement of a controller board chip in a production stream for a premium-class client. The method used, which can be defined mathematically, allowed for minimising the causes for excessive rejection rates of the element in question, which was presented in the article.
Zagadnienia związane z jakością produktu finalnego i poszczególnych komponentów składających się na produkt końcowy są ważne w każdej branży. Szczególnie w branży motoryzacyjnej, gdzie konsekwencje błędów jakościowych są bardzo dotkliwe i kosztowne. Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie zastosowania metody Six Sigma do doskonalenia procesu pomiaru wysokości chipa na płytce kontrolera na strumieniu produkcyjnym dla klienta klasy Premium. Zastosowana metoda, którą można zdefiniować w sposób matematyczny, pozwoliła zminimalizować przyczyny zbyt wysokiego odrzutu wybranego elementu, co zostanie zaprezentowanie w artykule.

The paper presents the notion of good practices in management and refers it to the issue of process improvement. In the beginning, it widely discusses the essence of good practices. Next, it depicts process improvement in the context of contemporary challenges posed to business organisations. The paper ends with a presentation of means of process improvement implemented by a selected company, which, due to outstanding results, can be considered an example of good practices in the described regard. The above merits were written based on the literature review, online sources and the analysis of results of categorised interviews.

Opis:

Abstract Meeting quality characteristics of products and processes is an important issue for customer satisfaction and business competitiveness. It is necessary to integrate new techniques and tools that improve and complement traditional process variables analysis. This paper proposes a new methodological approach to analyze process quality control variables using Fuzzy Cognitive Maps. Application of the methodology in the production process of carbonated beverages allowed identifying process variables with the greatest influence on finished product quality. The process variables with the greatest impact on carbon dioxide content in the beverage were the beverage temperature in the filler, the carbo-cooler pressure, and the filler pressure.

Opis:

The aim of this work was to determine the effectiveness of using the FMEA method in the traditional and modern versions for a small company producing plastic toys. It also identified the production process of a plastic instrument toy selected for analysis by dividing operations into adding and not adding value, in accordance with the Lean concept. Through the FMEA sheets constructed and presented in this work in both versions of this method, the causes and effects of defects in the technological operations of the production process of the test subject were presented. A risk analysis was carried out using assessments available for the traditional and new versions, and preventive and detective actions were proposed. The result of the work was a comparison of risk indicators characteristic for both versions of the FMEA method and an assessment of the effectiveness of this method in the analysed enterprise. Emphasis was placed on the human factor in the research. Both the division of operations into adding and not adding value, as well as the FMEA method, were useful for further optimization and process improvement activities.

Opis:

Modern technologies and technics nowadays play a very important role in optimizing many processes. Healthcare sector is a vital system of every country and it requires great investment and constant improvement, which makes integration with modern technologies and technics inevitable. Efficiency, speed and time savings are thus crucial for achievement of this integration. Lean RFID approach is completely new way of modeling and optimizing healthcare systems. The objective of this paper is to identify, describe and analyze recent trends in merging healthcare (Emergency Department) and Lean and RFID principles into a unique system. Obtained results indicate that the application of certain segments of Lean "thinking" significantly increases the efficiency of focused processes in healthcare. The main idea of the integration of medicine and Lean RFID approach is to constantly create and improve new values and reject all the activities that are categorized as "waste" in order to provide time savings, which are extremely important in this branch.

Opis:

This paper analyses the effects of combined implementation of gain sharing wage incentives and continuous process improvement on productivity growth in the apparel industry. Results were obtained through empirical research conducted in a Serbian apparel manufacturer - Javor. A five step research approach was designed and applied in Javor, where productivity was continuously measured over a five year period. Results show a significant increase in productivity in Javor by the end of the fifth year, even though productivity was in decline in the apparel sector. The results were statistically tested, showing that productivity gains can really be attributed to combined implementation of gain sharing and continuous process improvement. The paper has significant practical implications, since it suggests that wage incentives can be used as an efficient tool for motivating employees to take an active role in improvement efforts while relying on existing knowledge and resources.
Praca analizuje efekty wspólnego zastosowania odpowiedniego udziału płac i ciągłego procesu wzrostu produktywności w przemyśle odzieżowym. Wyniki uzyskano poprzez badania empiryczne wprowadzone w serbskim przedsiębiorstwie produkującym odzież – Javor. Zaprojektowano badania pięciostopniowe i zastosowano w przedsiębiorstwie Javor, gdzie produktywność była mierzona w sposób ciągły podczas kolejnych pięciu lat. Wyniki wykazały znaczny wzrost produktywności w Javorze pod koniec piątego roku badań, nawet w okresie kiedy produktywność zmniejszała się w całej branży odzieżowej. Wyniki były oceniane statystycznie pokazując, że produktywność może być rzeczywiście odniesiona do wspólnego zastosowania odpowiedniego udziału płac i ciągłego procesu wzrostu produktywności w przemyśle odzieżowym. Artykuł ma znaczenie praktyczne wskazując realne możliwości poprawy produktywności.

W artykule przedstawiono rozwiązania, które zostały zastosowane w celu Weryfikacji poprawności tworzonego planu, w narzędziu informatycznym wspomagającym proces układania planu zajęć dla kursu edukacyjnego. Zaprezentowane narzędzie stworzono w arkuszu kalkulacyjnym zgodnie z autorską koncepcją „Mikronarzędzi Bazujących na Relacyjnym Modelu Danych”. Określając założoną funkcjonalność rozwiązania, ustalono główne warunki, które muszą być spełnione, żeby gotowy plan mógł zostać uznany za poprawny. Za pomocą diagramu związków encji zgodnego z CASE – Method pokazano zidentyfikowaną dla przeanalizowanego zagadnienia strukturę danych. Przedstawiono sposób implementacji tej struktury w arkuszu kalkulacyjnym. W najistotniejszej części opracowania, szczegółowo opisano zaproponowane rozwiązania, które pozwalają na weryfikację wszystkich zidentyfikowanych warunków. W końcowej części artykułu zidentyfikowano wszystkie elementy arkusza kalkulacyjnego, które pozwoliły na uzyskanie założonej funkcjonalności.
The article presents solutions applied to verify the correctness of a timetable being developed using an IT tool supporting the process of timetable scheduling for an educational course. The tool being addressed was originally created in a spreadsheet by following the author’s signature concept of “Microtools Based on the Relational Data Model”. In the part dedicated to establishing the functionality assumed for the solution in question, main conditions to be satisfied in order for the timetable to be verified as correct have been determined. The data structure identified for the problem analysed has been illustrated using the Entity Relationship Diagram in line with the CASE Method. The manner in which this structure is implemented in a spreadsheet has been discussed. The most important section of the study provides a detailed description of the proposed solutions enabling verification of all the pre-defined conditions. In closing paragraphs of the article, all spreadsheet elements which enabled the assumed functionality to be achieved have been identified.

The aim of the study was to identify the problems and improve the production of cement in a ball mill in terms of technology and management associated with the use of known methods and techniques to improve quality. A detailed analysis helped to explain the process which affects the efficiency of grinding cement and which is the most common cause of disturbance and incompatibilities in the process of milling, how the production process is managed and controlled in order to obtain the required grain size, which is the main parameter influencing the quality of the manufactured product. To manage the change of the process there has been used a value stream map for analysis of the intermediate process of cement production, transport to the silos, bagging and selling. Based on the research some proposals of the process improvement have been designed that might have a chance of implementation and execution.

Opis:

Productivity modeling and validation is the assessment of data to establish scientific indications that a process is stable. The aim of this paper is to present a novel approach using statistical analyses for process improvement. This study highlights the process behavior of three different lathe machines unit with the intention to replace one of them. The research methodology has illustrated by producing a steel rod of 3.175 millimeter diameter based on 180 samples collected from each machine. For statistical data value analysis, MS Excel 2016 and Minitab 18 were utilized. The results showed that lathe machine 1 and 2 had an equivalent inconsistency, but significantly different data spreads. Similarly, the throughput for machine 2 was higher with greater variability as compared to machine 1 while machine 3 encountered a low rate of throughput. On the basis of the fallouts of the analysis, the research team has officially suggested to substitute lathe machine 3.

Pomimo dynamicznego rozwoju grupy narzędzi, jaką są arkusze kalkulacyjne, pracownicy stosujący je w swojej codziennej pracy wykorzystują jedynie niewielką grupę dostępnych w ich zakresie mechanizmów i funkcji. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczących wykorzystania różnych elementów arkuszy kalkulacyjnych przez osoby pracujące w dziale magazynowania i dystrybucji polskiego oddziału międzynarodowego przedsiębiorstwa branży handlowej, działającego na rynku żywności, środków czystości oraz pielęgnacji ciała. Dla każdego z wybranych elementów ocenione zostało jego ogólne wykorzystanie, przydatność oraz znajomość wśród pracowników. Dodatkowo wśród badanych osób zidentyfikowane zostały najistotniejsze źródła wiedzy oraz umiejętności w zakresie używania rozpatrywanej grupy narzędzi.
Despite the dynamic development of the group of software tools represented by spreadsheets, those using them in everyday work utilise only a limited number of mechanisms and functions they offer. This article provides a discussion on the results of studies concerning utilisation of various elements of spreadsheets by persons employed at the warehousing and distribution department of a Polish division of an international trade enterprise. An assessment comprising each of the selected elements covered its overall utilisation, applicability and the degree the employees were familiar with one. Furthermore, the most important sources of knowledge and skills applied in using the given group of tools were identified among those surveyed.

Opis:

The aim of the article is to outline potential directions of changes in production processes in furniture manufacturing that may occur under the impact of Industry 4.0. The research methods used as part of the study include a critical literature review, nd a case study of a selected company operating in the furniture manufacturing sector supplemented with a survey. The results obtained indicate the impact of Industry 4.0 on enterprises operating in this sector, which is visible in their efforts aimed at modernizing their production processes. A particularly important direction of the changes involves the implementation of integrated systems, processing data in real time, which allows for customizing the manufacturing while meeting the requirements of mass production. The results obtained broaden the knowledge of the application of 4.0 technologies in areas that involve the use of simple technologies, including industries with low levels of innovation, i.e. in sectors traditionally not susceptible to revolutionary changes brought about by new production management technologies.
Celem badań, których wyniki zamieszczono w tym artykule, jest wskazanie możliwych kierunków zmian w procesach produkcji w sektorze producentów mebli, które mogą zajść pod wpływem Industry 4.0. Metodami badawczymi wykorzystanymi w badaniach są: krytyczny przegląd literatury, studium przypadku wybranej firmy sektora producentów mebli uzupełnione o badanie ankietowe. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują na wpływ Industry 4.0 na przedsiębiorstwa z polskiego sektora produkcji mebli, który widoczny jest w dążeniu tych przedsiębiorstw do modernizacji procesów produkcji. Szczególnie istotnym kierunkiem zmian jest wprowadzanie systemów zintegrowanych przetwarzających dane w czasie rzeczywistym, które pozwalają na kastomizację produkcji przy jednoczesnym zachowaniu założenia masowości. Uzyskane wyniki poszerzą wiedzę w zakresie stosowania technologii 4.0 w obszarach prostych technologii i w sektorach o niskim poziomie innowacji, czyli w sektorach tradycyjnie niepodatnych na rewolucyjne zmiany wywoływane użyciem nowych technologii w zarządzaniu produkcją.

W artykule scharakteryzowano najpopularniejsze obecnie metody doskonalenia procesów produkcyjnych: Lean Management (Lean Production, Lean Manufacturing) i Six Sigma (6 Sigma, 6σ). Podano różnice i podobieństwa pomiędzy obiema metodami, a także opisano metodę Lean Six Sigma, będącą połączeniem najważniejszych zalet Lean Management i Six Sigma. Przedstawiono przypadki wdrożenia tej metody w przemyśle wydobywczym oraz przykładowe efekty finansowe. Branża górnicza jest miejscem, gdzie efekt synergii powstały z połączenia Lean i Six Sigma jest szczególnie wysoki.
The article characterizes currently most popular methods for improving production processes: Lean Management (Lean Production, Lean Manufacturing) and Six Sigma (6 Sigma, 6σ). It also presents the differences and similarities between the two methods. Subsequently paper describes Lean Six Sigma method, which is a combination of the most important advantages of Lean Management and Six Sigma. The implementation of this method in the mining industry and examples of financial results are reported. Mining industry is the area where the synergy effect created from the combination of Lean and Six Sigma is particularly high.

The scope of the work includes the technological identification of the furniture manufacturing and assembly process in real production conditions, on the basis of which the appropriate simulation model was built. The course of the process was analyzed in the Arena software on the basis of a computer simulation based on reports. As a result of the simulation of the manufacturing process with the use of information from report of usage, an area for improvement was located. The re-analysis of the material flow made it possible to propose a change in the input parameters for the simulation model in the indicated area. The results of the second simulation show significant changes in the effective use of workstations and increase in the efficiency of the production line. In practice, it can be the basis for introducing simulated changes in the production system.
W artykule opisano zagadnienia związane z tworzeniem dyskretnych modeli symulacyjnych dla realizacji procesu wytwarzania i montażu mebli w przedsiębiorstwie branży meblarskiej. Przedstawiono metodykę analizy systemu wytwarzania, która ma za zadanie wspierać właściwe podejście dla budowy modeli symulacyjnych. Zakresem praca obejmuje identyfikację technologiczną procesu wytwarzania i montażu mebli w rzeczywistych warunkach produkcyjnych, w oparciu o którą zbudowano właściwy model symulacyjny na przykładzie procesu wytwarzania w rzeczywistych warunkach produkcyjnych. Analizę przebiegu procesu na podstawie symulacji komputerowej w oparciu o raporty przeprowadzono w oprogramowaniu Arena. W wyniku przeprowadzonej symulacji procesu wytwarzania z wykorzystaniem informacji z raportu obciążeń stanowiskowych zlokalizowano obszar do doskonalenia. Powtórna analiza przepływu materiałowego pozwoliła zaproponować zmianę parametrów wejściowych dla modelu symulacyjnego we wskazanym obszarze. Wyniki drugiej symulacji wskazują istotne zmiany w zakresie efektywnego wykorzystania stanowisk pracy oraz zwiększenia wydajności linii produkcyjnej. W praktyce może to stanowić podstawę do wprowadzenia symulowanych zmian w omawianym systemie produkcyjnym.

Opis:

In the paper the possibilities of process re-organizing in relation to simple principles for limiting waste in the production cycle have been presented. Based on value stream mapping and monitoring of performance indicators, the possibilities of changes identification of in the assembly line process have been presented. Furthermore, based on the availability, performance and quality values, it has been proved that relatively small changes can have a very positive effect on the assembly process. Based on the OEE coefficient, it has been found that the proposed changes improved the process's efficiency by more than 20%.

Background: Manufacturing companies nowadays have to cope with ever-increasing speed and complexity to manage their global supply chain. Information flow manage the supply chain needs to be more accurate and real-time than ever before. Item master data management is no exception as well. This research demonstrates the potential benefits of applying robotic process automation (RPA) technology in master data management based on two companies in the manufacturing industry. Methods: The method approached by the research was a qualitative method, utilizing interpretation of data extracted from literature and semi-constructed interviews. Results: The article proposes a framework for RPA implementation in the master data managing process. Automation with software robots can greatly benefit the organization, namely: lower processing time, reduce human errors, lower operations cost, improved compliance level and higher data accuracy. Conclusions: With the objective to examine the benefits of RPA in master data management, the researchers have investigated 2 companies in the manufacturing industry to understand how they have benefited from RPA for item master data management processes. The result showed that RPA is affirmed to bring about many benefits for the organizations through structured automation. The researchers have proposed a framework for implementing RPA to capture item master data based on the change management model and the framework is separated in 3 phases involving important tasks in each phase. Future researches might use this study as a stepping stone for further studies in cognitive RPA, utilizing cognitive technology in combination with RPA technology with the mean to achieve a higher level of automation.
Wstęp: Firmy produkcyjne działają obecnie w warunkach coraz większej kompleksowości zarządzania swoim łańcuchem dostaw. Przepływ informacji wspomagający zarządzanie łańcuchem dostaw musi być coraz precyzyjniejszy oraz odbywać się w czasie rzeczywistym. Zarządzanie danymi podstawowymi nie jest tu żadnym wyjątkiem. Praca przedstawia potencjalne zalety zastosowania technologii automatyzacji procesów RPA w zarządzaniu danymi podstawowymi na podstawie dwóch firm produkcyjnych. Metody: W pracy została zastosowana metoda jakościowa polegająca na interpretacji danych pochodzących z literatury fachowej oraz przeprowadzonych wywiadów. Wyniki: Wysunięto propozycję zastosowania zasad RPA w procesie zarządzania danymi podstawowymi. Automatyzacja w połączeniu z oprogramowaniem robotów wpływa pozytywnie na pracę przedsiębiorstwa poprzez skrócenia czasu obróbki, redukcję błędów ludzkich, obniżenie kosztów operacyjnych, podniesienie wzajemnej zgodności danych oraz większej ich dokładności. Wnioski: W celu określenia zalet zastosowania metody RPA w zarządzaniu danymi podstawowymi, zostały poddane analizie dwie firmy produkcyjne, które wdrożyły RPA w procesach zarządzania danymi podstawowymi. Otrzymane wyniki potwierdziły pozytywny wpływ wdrożenia automatyzacji. Zaproponowano model wdrożenia RPA oparty na modelu zarządzania zmianą i podzielony na trzy oddzielne etapy, z wyszczególnieniem zadań specyficznych dla każdego z tych etapów. Uzyskane wyniki mogą być zastosowane w dalszych pracach nad RPA.

Opis:

Business process management is a very important factor in assessing the effectiveness of production systems (entire enterprises or departments). And while the planning and management of business processes is mastered, it is difficult to create relationships between coexisting processes within one production system. Usually, business process management refers to extracted (isolated) processes, in this case relationships between different processes were looked for. This paper is devoted to the assessment and analysis of the interaction of business processes related to the implementation of one engineering project. The paper presents the results of research carried out in relation to four coexisting business processes in a manufacturing company - with assumption that the four analyzed business processes are located within one project. Business processes were defined on the basis of areas determined in the Big Picture analysis (in Value Stream Mapping analysis). As indicators of the impact of business process elements, the correlation coefficient was taken into account, the value of which determined the impact (or lack of impact) between the components of the various business processes. It has been noticed that the attributes from process 1 (Launching the project implementation) and process 2 (Scheduling and project management) show a very strong and strong correlation with the attributes in other processes 3 (Management and supply of materials) and 4 (Production and distribution). On the basis of the presented results, the critical points of the information / decision flow between the coexisting business processes have been indicated.
Zarządzanie procesami biznesowymi jest bardzo ważnym czynnikiem w ocenie efektywności systemów produkcyjnych (całych przedsiębiorstw lub działów). I o ile planowanie i zarządzanie procesami biznesowymi jest opanowane, trudno jest tworzyć relacje między współistniejącymi procesami w ramach jednego systemu produkcyjnego. Zazwyczaj zarządzanie procesami biznesowymi odnosi się do wyodrębnionych (wyizolowanych) procesów, w tym przypadku poszukiwano relacji pomiędzy różnymi procesami. Artykuł poświęcony jest ocenie i analizie interakcji procesów biznesowych związanych z realizacją jednego projektu inżynierskiego. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w odniesieniu do czterech współistniejących procesów biznesowych w przedsiębiorstwie produkcyjnym - przy założeniu, że cztery analizowane procesy biznesowe są ulokowane w ramach jednego projektu. Procesy biznesowe zostały zdefiniowane na podstawie obszarów określonych w analizie Big Picture (w analizie Mapowania Strumienia Wartości). Jako wskaźniki wpływu elementów procesu biznesowego brano pod uwagę współczynnik korelacji, którego wartość określała wpływ (lub brak wpływu) pomiędzy komponentami różnych procesów biznesowych. Zauważono, że atrybuty z procesu 1 (Uruchomienie realizacji projektu) i procesu2 (Planowanie i zarządzanie projektami) wykazują bardzo silną i silną korelację z atrybutami w innych procesach 3 (Zarządzanie i dostawa materiałów) i 4 (Produkcja i dystrybucja). Na podstawie przedstawionych wyników wskazano krytyczne punkty przepływu informacji/decyzji pomiędzy współistniejącymi procesami biznesowymi.

W artykule przedstawiono propozycję narzędzia zgodnego z koncepcją „Mikronarzędzi bazujących na relacyjnym modelu danych” wspomagającego proces analizy niezgodności wyrobów walcowanych. W pierwszej kolejności omówiono sam proces analizy identyfikując rodzaje raportów, które w jego trakcie są opracowywane. Na podstawie analizy problemu zaproponowano strukturę danych dla tworzonego narzędzia. Zidentyfikowane w ramach tej struktury encje zostały scharakteryzowane a powiązania pomiędzy nimi zostały przedstawione na odpowiednim diagramie związków encji. W dalszej kolejności przedstawiono sposób implementacji encji w narzędziu, w arkuszu kalkulacyjnym a następnie zaprezentowano i omówiono przykładowe rozwiązania zastosowane w celu automatycznego wygenerowania zidentyfikowanych raportów. Założoną dla narzędzia funkcjonalność uzyskano przy wykorzystaniu wbudowanych funkcji arkusza bez konieczności tworzenia kodu w jakimkolwiek języku programowania.
The aim of this article has been to propose a tool developed in accordance with a concept referred to as “Microtools based on the relational data model” used to support the process of nonconformity analysis for rolled products. The first part of the paper provides a discussion on the analysis itself, and individual types of reports created in the process have been identified. Based on a problem analysis, a specific data structure has been proposed for the tool in question. The entities identified within this structure have been characterised, and the links functioning between them have been illustrated using an adequate entity relationship diagram. Another section of the paper is focused on implementation of the entities in the tool in a spreadsheet, followed by presentation and discussion of selected examples of solutions applied for purposes of automatic generation of pre-defined reports. The target functionality assumed for the tool has been attained using built-in spreadsheet features without being forced to create a code in any programming language.

This article examined a variant of the Capability Maturity Model integrated (CMMi) through the lens of advertising process improvement. The population and sample were taken from a national array of U.S. marketing organizations. Using ANOVA, a 0.05 significance level, and a stratification of service marketing organizations versus product marketing organizations, the study showed a statistically significant difference (F(1, 304) = 4.03; p = 0.04; ω2 = 0.00) regarding the hypothesis representing the notion that processes were potentially sporadic, chaotic, and ad hoc. This notion corresponded to the first maturity level of the examined process maturity framework. With respect to the Likert-scale data representing the first maturity level, the successive means analysis showed that both service marketing firms (M = 2.99) and product marketing firms (M = 2.74) reported neutrality regarding whether processes were deemed sporadic, chaotic, and ad hoc. Thus, the respondents perceived no evidence of the first maturity level among the queried work settings. Future studies may examine different stratifications of marketing firms (e.g., for-profit versus non-profit; domestic versus international; and so on) to better explore the proposed advertising maturity model.
Niniejszy artykuł poświęcony jest badaniu wariantu modelu Capability Maturity Model integrated (CMMi) z perspektywy doskonalenia procesu reklamowego. Populacja i próba zostały pozyskane z narodowego zasobu amerykańskich organizacji marketingowych. Z zastosowaniem ANOVA, poziomu istotności 0.05 oraz stratyfikacji organizacji usług marketingowych, badanie wykazało statystycznie istotną różnicę (F(1, 304) = 4.03; p = 0.04; ω2 = 0.00) w odniesieniu do hipotezy reprezentującej twierdzenie, że procesy były sporadyczne, chaotyczne i nieprzygotowane. To twierdzenie odpowiada pierwszemu poziomowi dojrzałości badanego schematu dojrzałości procesu. W odniesieniu do danych na skali Likerta reprezentujących pierwszy poziom dojrzałości, analiza kolejnych średnich wykazała, że zarówno firmy dostarczające usługi marketingowe (M = 2.99) jak też firmy zajmujące się marketingiem produktu (M = 2.74) wskazywały na neutralność w odniesieniu do tego czy procesy były uważane za sporadyczne, chaotyczne i nieprzygotowane. Zatem, respondenci nie dostrzegli dowodów na pierwszy poziom dojrzałości w badanych układach pracy. Przyszłe analizy mogą zbadać inne stratyfikacje firm marketingowych (n.p. dla zysku kontra non-profit; narodowe kontra międzynarodowe; i tak dalej) w celu lepszego zbadania proponowanego modelu dojrzałości reklamowej.

The article provides a discussion on a concept of an information tool proposed to support the creation of documents in the steel strip manufacturing process. Firstly, the author has described the production process focusing on the documents it requires to be used. With reference to the data contained in the documents in question, a relational database structure has been proposed bearing in mind the tool’s functionality envisaged. What follows is an elaboration of specific solutions assumed to enable creation of a tool based on the relational structure of data using a spreadsheet.

The use of remote communication tools is nowadays becoming a phenomenon which is more and more visible not only in companies, but also in other entities of the economy. The paper presents the actual ways in which modern remote communication tools are used both between the members of a student organisation and with other entities, the types of these tools and the characteristic nature of such an entity in the era of the coronavirus pandemic.
Wykorzystywanie narzędzi komunikacji zdalnej w obecnych czasach staje się zjawiskiem coraz częściej zauważalnym nie tylko w firmach, ale także w innych podmiotach gospodarki. Użytkowanie nowoczesnych narzędzi komunikacji zdalnej pozwala na zwiększenie efektywności funkcjonalnej danego podmiotu oraz usprawnienie kontaktu pomiędzy członkami jednostki. W pracy zaprezentowano rzeczywiste sposoby wykorzystania nowoczesnych narzędzi komunikacji zdalnej zarówno pomiędzy członkami organizacji studenckiej, jak i z innymi podmiotami, rodzaje tych narzędzi oraz charakterystyczny dla tego rodzaju podmiotu charakter działania w dobie pandemii COVID-19.

Przeprowadzanie badań oraz sprawdzanie poprawności wykonania prac budowlanych to powinność, która dotyczy każdego etapu budowy. W wielu wypadkach krotność oraz zakres badań wymaganych przez inwestora jak również przewidzianych przez dokumentację projektową wymaga dużej pracochłonności. Fakt ten jest wyjątkowo uciążliwy w przypadku robót drogowych, które niejednokrotnie są prowadzone symultanicznie na długości wielu kilometrów. Chociaż istnieje możliwość przygotowania jednostki badawczej, która będzie za to odpowiedzialna, to jednak w wielu wypadkach może to okazać się niewystarczające przy dynamicznym procesie budowlanym. Właśnie z tego powodu niezwykle istotne jest umiejętne wykorzystywanie narzędzi, które mogą pozwolić na optymalizację procesu prowadzenia badań.
Carrying out, testing and checking the correctness of construction works is an obligation that applies to every stage of construction. In many cases the number of tests required by the investor as well as by project documentation means a lot of work. This fact is extremely burdensome in the case of road works, which are often carried out simultaneously over many kilometers. Although it is possible to prepare a research unit that will be responsible for it, but still it could be insufficient with a dynamic construction site process, causing delays. For this reason, it is extremely important to skillfully use tools that can optimize the research process.

Opis:

Purpose: identification of possibilities of using quality management methods and tools to improve maintenance processes. Design/methodology/approach: the tools used were adjusted to the results of cognitive interview and maturity analysis of maintenance process carried out among representatives of various levels of the organization's management, based on an original tool. Findings: it was found that the level of maturity of the process is in the chaotic phase, despite the fact that the company implemented integrated management systems, quality management methods and tools are not systematically used in the process; it seems, however, the needs in this area are very large. Research limitations/implications: the study was conducted on the basis of only one process, in one workplace; only on the basis of own observations it can be concluded that other processes in this plant, as well as similar ones, will show similar deficiencies, which should, however, be subjected to a deeper analysis. Practical implications: it can be assumed that the research results presented in this paper, as well as the proposed practical solutions, may support not only the process under study, but also completely different processes; the study seems to indicate the need of educating the managers in the field of practical skills for improving the processes in the organizations. Originality/value: the study proposes the use of an original tool for measuring process maturity as an entrance to further steps, it also presents the possibility of using tools, the process of their implementation in an actual process, as well as barriers encountered.

Opis:

Celem rozważań jest zaprezentowanie przyczyn rozszerzenia koncepcji zarządzania procesowego. Wychodząc od analizy zasad funkcjonowania małych firm przedstawiono podstawowe problemy zarządzania dużymi organizacjami w gospodarce wiedzy. Następnie przedstawiono koncepcję dynamicznego zarzą-dzania procesami biznesowymi (dynamic BPM) będącą rozszerzeniem klasycznego zarządzania procesowego i pokazano, w jaki sposób implementując zasady dynamic BPM organizacja może wyeliminować podstawowe wady klasycznego zarządzania procesowego. W artykule pokazano implementację dynamic BPM oraz przedstawiono podstawowe wymagania i korzyści z wdrożenia tej koncepcji zarządzania procesowego, takie jak możliwość szybkiego i efektywnego zarządzania wiedzą czy wykorzystanie technologii IT do podniesienia jakości i efektywności realizowanych procesów. Od strony praktycznej określono podstawowe wymagania dla systemów dynamic BPMS, pozwalających na praktyczną implementację koncepcji w organizacjach oraz podstawowe wymagania oraz rezultaty dzielenia się wiedzą w ramach organizacyjnego procesu social BPM. Artykuł ma charakter koncepcyjny i adresowany jest do kadry zarządzającej, badaczy, procesowców i pracowników firm zajmujących się wdrażaniem metodyk jakościowych i procesowych w organizacjach.
An aim of considerations is to present the reasons for extension of the concept of process management. Departing from an analysis of the principles of small companies functioning, the author presented the basic problems of managing large organisations in the knowledge economy. Next, he presented the concept of dynamic BPM (business process management) being an extension of the classical process management and showed how, implementing the principles of dynamic BPM, an organisation can eliminate basic faults of the classical process management. In his article, the author showed the implementation of dynamic BPM and presented basic requirements and benefits issuing from implementation of this concept of process management such as the possibility of quick and affective knowledge management or use of IT for the purpose of raising quality and effectiveness of the implemented processes. From the practical side, he described the essential requirements for the systems of dynamic BPMS (business process management suites) allowing for a practical implementation of the concept at organisations as well as the basic requirements and results of knowledge sharing within the framework of the organisational process called “the social BPM”. The article is of the conceptual nature and is addressed to the managerial staff, researchers, process engineers, and employees of the companies dealing with implementation of the quality and process methodologies at organisations.

Opis:

Companies are encouraged to make changes and improve business processes to achieve performance and competitiveness. For these purposes, industrial engineering methods can be used in business practice. The main aim of this paper is to identify the most frequently used industrial engineering methods in Czech manufacturing companies. The secondary aim is to compare the use of individual industrial engineering methods in selected industrial areas. The necessary data were collected through online questionnaire (N=118). The results shows, that the most commonly used industrial engineering method are standardization, Material Requirements Planning (MRP I), Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II), 5S and Kaizen. This study confirms that the use of standardization, 5S, Kaizen, and MRP I depends on the type of industry in which the company operates; the industry focus does not affect whether or not TQM or MRP II are used.
Firmy są zachęcane do wprowadzania zmian i ulepszania procesów biznesowych w celu osiągnięcia wydajności i konkurencyjności. W tym celu w praktyce biznesowej można stosować metody inżynierii przemysłowej. Głównym celem tego artykułu jest identyfikacja najczęściej stosowanych metod inżynierii przemysłowej w czeskich zakładach produkcyjnych. Drugim celem jest porównanie wykorzystania poszczególnych metod inżynierii przemysłowej w wybranych obszarach przemysłowych. Niezbędne dane zebrano za pomocą kwestionariusza internetowego (N=118). Wyniki pokazują, że najczęściej stosowaną metodą inżynierii przemysłowej jest standaryzacja, planowanie zapotrzebowania materiałowego (MRP I), planowanie zasobów produkcyjnych (MRP II), 5S i Kaizen. Badanie to potwierdza, że zastosowanie normalizacji, 5S, Kaizen i MRP I zależy od rodzaju branży, w której działa firma; koncentracja na branży nie ma wpływu na to, czy stosuje się TQM, czy MRP II.

Nowadays, modern production processes are undergoing intensive technological development, according to Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0 assumptions. Despite the separate differentiation and numbering of these terms, the assumptions of the two approaches do not contradict each other. Industry 5.0 is a type of an extension of the drive for the highest possible degree of integration of automated systems (along with the pillars assumed in Industry 4.0) by finding a place where humans prove to be irreplaceable and their needs are identified as the most essential, central aspect. This leads to the implementation of semi-automated processes in which the cooperation between human and machine is the key. The paper presents an analysis and the results of the studies performed in company that produces vehicle control systems in automotive. The research includes quarter-a-year of studies and observation of production process. The studies aimed identifying waste in production process and proposing improvement methods, with particular reference to automated operations. Implementation of proposed improvements was mainly based on re-programming automated systems, but also on adding new process of cleaning brakes, that allowed to reduce the number of scrapped parts. Moreover, the implicated solutions allowed to achieve reduction of production process cycle time, financial savings and risk of the defects.
W dzisiejszych czasach nowoczesne procesy produkcji przechodzą intensywny rozwój technologiczny, powiązany z wdrażaniem założeń Industry 4.0 i Industry 5.0. Pomimo odrębnego rozróżniania i numerowania tych terminów, założenia obu tych podejść nie są ze sobą sprzeczne. Industry 5.0 jest niejako poszerzeniem dążenia do możliwie wysokiego stopnia zintegrowania zautomatyzowanych systemów (wraz z filarami zakładanymi w Industry 4.0) o odnalezienie miejsca, w którym człowiek okazuje się być niezastąpiony, a jego potrzeby identyfikowane są jako najistotniejszy, centralny aspekt. Prowadzi to do powstawania procesów pół-automatycznych, w których znaleźć można miejsce na współpracę pomiędzy człowiekiem i maszyną. W artykule przedstawiono analizę i wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w firmie produkującej systemy sterowania pojazdami w branży motoryzacyjnej. Badania obejmują kwartał-rok badań i obserwacji procesu produkcyjnego. Badania miały na celu identyfikację marnotrawstwa w procesie produkcyjnym oraz zaproponowanie metod usprawnień, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem operacji zautomatyzowanych. Wdrożenie zaproponowanych usprawnień polegało głównie na przeprogramowaniu systemów automatycznych, ale także na dodaniu nowego procesu czyszczenia hamulców, który pozwolił na zmniejszenie liczby złomowanych części.

W artykule zaprezentowano koncepcję narzędzia informatycznego wspomagającego prowadzenie kart kontrolnych Shewarta. W pierwszej kolejności omówiono ogólnie koncepcję kart kontrolnych a także określono założoną funkcjonalność dla tworzonego narzędzia. Dla założonej funkcjonalności, zidentyfikowano dane, które muszą być gromadzone i przechowywane w narzędziu. Dla zidentyfikowanych danych zaproponowano strukturę zgodną z relacyjnym modelem danych. W dalszej kolejności szczegółowo omówiono implementację bazy danych w arkuszu kalkulacyjnym oraz przedstawiono rozwiązania pozwalające na przeprowadzenie analizy dla wybranej właściwości. Zaproponowane rozwiązania pozwalają na automatyczną identyfikację punktów tworzących przedstawione w normie konfiguracje wskazujące sytuacje wymagające wyjaśnienia. Stworzone mechanizmy pozwalają również na przejrzystą prezentację wyników zarówno w formie tabelarycznej jak i za pomocą odpowiednich wykresów dla wybranego przez użytkownika zakresu próbek.
The article addresses a concept of an IT tool proposed to support the application of the Shewart control charts. The concept of control charts has been generally explained in the initial sections of the paper, providing a definition of the functionality envisaged for the tool being developed. With regard to the said functionality, data which must be acquired and stored in the tool have been identified. For the sake of the data identification, a specific structure conforming with the relational data model has been proposed. What follows is a detailed description of database implementation in a spreadsheet as well as an introduction of a solution allowing the chosen property to be analysed. All the solutions proposed enable automatic identification of the points forming the configurations specified in the reference standard, indicating situations which require further explanation. The mechanisms developed also make it possible to represent the results obtained in a transparent form, both in tables and by means of appropriate graphs, depending on the range of samples chosen by the user.

In the current, full of technological novelties, companies that want to maintain their position on the market are obliged to implement continuous improvement of their operations. A frequent and recently popular phenomenon is the creation of workplaces in organizations for specialists in the field of continuous improvement. Improvement is a laborious and long-lasting process. The activities of the company that create added value for the customer should be improved, in other words they increase the competitive advantage on the market, then they will be effective for the company. The article presents the possibility of using the Six Sigma methodology to improve the efficiency of the production process of a rubber product on one of the production lines. To achieve the intended goal, qualitative and quantitative research methods were used to analyze the results obtained as part of the company's case study. In addition, the statistical analysis of the obtained results allowed to identify factors in the areas affecting the efficiency of the manufacturing process and to determine the action plan identifying the actions that should be implemented to improve the production process.
W obecnych, pełnych nowinek technologicznych firmach, które chcą utrzymać swoją pozycję na rynku, zobligowane jest do ciągłego doskonalenia swojej działalności. Częstym i ostatnio popularnym zjawiskiem jest tworzenie w organizacjach miejsc pracy dla specjalistów z zakresu ciągłego doskonalenia. Doskonalenie jest pracochłonnym i długotrwałym procesem. Działania firmy, które tworzą wartość dodaną dla klienta powinny być doskonalone, czyli zwiększają przewagę konkurencyjną na rynku, wtedy będą efektywne dla firmy. W artykule przedstawiono możliwości wykorzystania metodyki Six Sigma do poprawy efektywności procesu produkcji wyrobu gumowego na jednej z linii produkcyjnych. Aby osiągnąć zamierzony cel, zastosowano jakościowe i ilościowe metody badawcze do analizy wyników uzyskanych w ramach studium przypadku firmy. Ponadto analiza statystyczna uzyskanych wyników pozwoliła zidentyfikować czynniki w obszarach wpływających na efektywność procesu produkcyjnego oraz ustalić plan działania określający działania, które należy wdrożyć, aby usprawnić proces produkcyjny.

The expedited procedure is a type of special first-degree proceding which – apart from the cases specified in the Act on the Safety of Mass Events – is optional, also in cases of offenses prosecuted on the basis of private prosecution, if they are of hooligan nature. Insofar as it is permissible to reduce the formal requirements for charges to be presented in simplified proceedings, it is not possible to apply any simplification when it comes to evidence-based decision whether to file an indictment against a specific person. In cases involving offences prosecuted on the basis of private prosecution, it is not necessary to show public interest. Ap - prehension of the offender as a precondition of the procedure requires that all the conditions specified in Article 243 of the Code of Criminal Procedure are met. Apprehension “immediately after committing a crime” is not essentially equiva- lent to “in the pursuit immediately afterwards”. Time of suspect’s detention is counted to the nearest minute from the moment of actual deprivation of liberty or – in cases where suspect is apprehended – from the moment the apprehended person is taken over by the police.

The economic progress of recent years has contributed to the fact that both the quality of products and services offered and ISO standardization have become priority criterion that determines the success of manufacturing enterprises. Therefore, the monitoring and supervision of processes carried out in manufacturing companies is a key issue. These aspects support the achievement of key economic and quality objectives. The paper presents the results of a study on manufacturing enterprises in the context of process monitoring maturity. The research objective of the study was to determine the level of maturity in the use of process monitoring techniques and methods in manufacturing enterprises. The subject of the research were the techniques and methods used by the surveyed enterprises in such areas as: production management, machinery park management, warehouse management, transport management, inventory and supply management and IT tools. In order to determine the level of maturity, the author’s model was used, according to which the level of maturity of a manufacturing enterprise in the area of process monitoring depends on the instrumentation that is used in it.

The purpose of the paper is to present the author’s reflections on the origin and popularity of various approaches to maintenance and improvement of production processes, their terminological consistency, understanding, and practical application of their principles. The author’s reflections are based on his observations made over his many years of activity as a lecturer and consultant in the area of production engineering and management. It was shown that there is a need to make scientists and practitioners aware of the relatively large degree of freedom in defining the scope and way of application of strategies of continuous improvement. The author’s proposal is to refer to all approaches to maintenance and improvement of production processes with the title “Strategies of Efficient Action” and all supporting methods as “Practices of Efficient Action”. Considerations presented in the paper can be useful in more and more efficiently applying the power of TQM, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and other strategies of processes maintenance and improvement in the daily activities of companies.

Due to the pressure of competition, high process efficiency has become a corporate ob¬jective for companies to maintain their global competitiveness. To ensure high process efficiency, it is important to constantly reduce process losses within various business activities. Different concepts to evaluate the efficiency of a company's key processes have therefore been discussed in academia. These concepts largely concentrate on the production area of one single company. Currently, howev¬er, not only individual companies but also entire supply chains are competing with each other. For this reason, it is necessary to thoroughly evaluate and increase the efficiency of production, transport, handling, and warehousing processes along the entire Supply Chain. We addressed this challenge with the conceptual design of a supply chain improvement system (SCIS). The results of empirical research focussing on the managerial purpose of the SCIS indicate that intercompany efficiency evaluation and improvement are prevalent issues in entrepreneurial practice.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to present the benefits of using selected Lean Management elements in the production process on the example of a company producing mechanical seals. Design/methodology/approach: The article is theoretical and empirical in nature and is based on the analysis of a selected case. In the empirical part, the analysis concerns selected elements of the production process in the examined enterprise. Findings: The results obtained in the article refer to the benefits of using Lean Management in the production process in the analyzed enterprise. The use of identification and elimination of waste and standardization of activities at workplaces (introduction of job instructions) in selected areas of the production process allowed for the improvement of its parameters, which was presented in the article. Research limitations/implications: The limitations in the empirical area could be the reference only to selected aspects of Lean Management and the analyzed process. Future research will cover the broader scope of Lean Management and other companies. Practical implications: The results of the case study show the direct impact of Lean Management on the parameters of the analyzed production process. Thanks to the use of Lean Management, the process parameters have improved, which is an important factor in the context of the effectiveness of the company's functioning as a system. Originality/value: The added value of the article is the practical presentation of the use of Lean Management to improve the parameters of the production process.

Paper presents the methodology of shaping dependability of devices used in process with use key performance indicators for increasing Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) which are a subject of devices' parameters monitoring under operation. Value of Overall Equipment Efficiency describes the technical state of devices included into production process. Value itself can be different for different production lines even in one industry. For engineers it is important to put all possible effort to increasing values of particular key performance indicators which are building Overall Equipment Efficiency. Values of particular key performance indicators, shows to experienced engineer real technical state of whole production line. Presented in paper selected indicators are connected and have influence for each other, moreover operation parameters of devices' are characterizing production process. Key performance indicators presented in paper represents three the most important aspects of the production process: handling of the process, operators' area of responsibility, management of the process, managers' area of responsibility and optimization of the process, planners' area of responsibility. Only proper cooperation of these three groups of people can benefits requested result. From owners point of view, presented areas have the same importance, problems created in one of them can negatively influence for overall income of whole enterprise.

W artykule dokonano analizy przebiegu procesu dystrybucyjnego w oparciu o znane narzędzia zarządzania wizualnego. W niniejszej pracy zaprezentowano mapę logiczną procesu dystrybucji oraz zestaw map powstałych w wyniku analizy VSM – Value Stream Mapping. Na podstawie graficznego zaprezentowania procesu dystrybucji określono określeno czynności wchodzących w skład procesu, zidentyfikowano hierarchię wykonania operacji, wyszukano powiązań pomiędzy operacjami, określono realizatorów działań. Najistotniejszym jednak wynikiem analizy było zidentyfikowanie i wskazanie obszarów powstawania marnotrwawstwa w procesie, które wymagają doskonalenia.
The paper presents the results of the distribution process analysis based on the well-known visual management tools. This paper presents a logical map of the distribution process and a set of maps resulting from the VSM analysis - Value Stream Mapping. On the basis of a graphical presentation of the distribution process, the number of activities included in the process was determined, the hierarchy of operation execution was identified, relationships between operations were searched, and action providers were identified. However, the most important result of the analysis, was the identification of wastage areas in the process that require improvement.

Depending on the process behavior, available know-how and organizational goals, different techniques and tools can be used for business process modeling. We concentrate on e-commerce, and try to find the best marketing strategy for the sales process improvement. In the paper we present the multilayer approach to define enterprise scenarios. This allows us to collect the suitable knowledge necessary for enterprise analysis and improvement. Moreover, we use BPMN notation to formalize this approach and show its capability for the concrete example of an e-shop.

Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja stymulatorów procesowego rozwoju przedsiębiorstw. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki diagnozy dojrzałości procesowej w kontekście celów projektów przedsiębiorstw. Założono, że kierunek procesowego rozwoju przedsiębiorstwa i jego poziom dojrzałości determinują cele zmian. Do realizacji zadania wykorzystano technikę wywiadu i wielowymiarową analizę korespondencji. Efektem prac jest identyfikacja celów rozwojowych na określonych etapach dojrzałości procesowej przedsiębiorstwa.
The purpose of this paper is to identify the triggers of development process-oriented enterprises. The article presents the results of the process maturity diagnosis in terms of objectives of enterprises development. It was assumed that the scope of the changes determines the direction of the enterprise development and its level of maturity. To accomplish research tasks questionnaire-based technique and multidimensional correspondence analysis were used. The result of the research is identification of development goals pursued by the company at certain maturity levels.

W artykule dokonano analizy procesu produkcji worków foliowych wykorzystując do tego wybrane metody i narzędzia inżynierii jakości takie jak: metoda FMEA oraz narzędzie – diagram Ishikawy. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy określono, które z problemów są najistotniejsze i należy wprowadzić działania doskonalące i zapobiegawcze. W pierwszej kolejności należy zastosować działania doskonalące i korygujące dla wad: "klejenie się worków oraz zbyt mała ilość dodatku antiblock w procesie produkcyjnym” oraz „brak norm i uregulowań dotyczących parametrów technicznych folii i sposobach ich kontroli”.
The article presents an analysis of the manufacturing process of plastic bags using selected methods and tools of quality engineering such as: the FMEA method and the Ishikawa diagram. Based on the analysis conducted the most important of the problems which require preventive and improvement measures were identified. First, improvement and correction measures should be applied to the “bags sticking together and too little antiblock additive in the manufacturing process” and “lack of norms and regulations pertaining to the plastic foil’s technical parameters and the methods of their control” faults.

Każde przedsiębiorstwo szuka sposobów na doskonalenie swoich procesów oraz produktów powstających w wyniku tych procesów. Jedną z metod wykorzystywanych w takich sytuacjach jest metoda 5W2H. W czasie wykorzystania metody zadaje się najczęściej następujące pytania: Co? Dlaczego? Kiedy? Jak? Gdzie? Kto? Za ile?, które dotyczą badanego problemu. Celem artykułu jest wykorzystanie metody 5W2H do doskonalenia procesu produkcji wentylatorów na przykładzie wybranego polskiego przedsiębiorstwa. Badania przeprowadzono w przedsiębiorstwie X, które działa w branży wentylacyjno-klimatyzacyjnej i powstało w latach siedemdziesiątych w okolicach Częstochowy. Przedstawiono pojęcie doskonalenia. Dokonano charakterystyki przedsiębiorstwa, oraz wybranego wyrobu, który podlegał doskonaleniu. Przeprowadzono analizę problemu niezgodnych elementów obudów wentylatorów z wykorzystaniem metody 5W1H. Okazało się, że zidentyfikowane niezgodności powstają podczas produkcji wyprasek, na stanowiskach obróbki wykańczających oraz podczas transportu gotowych elementów.
Every enterprise looks for ways to improve its processes and products resulting from these processes. One of the methods used in these cases is the 5W2H method. During the use of this method most often the following questions are asked: What? Why? When? How? Where? Who? How much?, which relate to a given problem. The purpose of this paper is to use the 5W2H method to improve the production process of fans on the example of chosen Polish enterprise. The research was conducted in the enterprise X, which operates in the field of ventilation and air conditioning and was created in the seventies in the neighbourhood of Czestochowa. The concept of improvement was presented. Characteristics of the chosen enterprise and chosen product, which was subjected to improvement, were presented. An analysis of the problem of nonconformities occurring in housing elements of fans with use of the 5W1H method was conducted. It turned out that the identified nonconformities appeared during the production of moldings, on the finishing processing stations and during transportation of finished parts.

In the paper there was presented the role and importance of choosing appropriate quality management methods in making decisions on implementing corrective actions on the example of a selected metallurgical company. There was presented application of the results of production process improving methods, such as 5 Why and FMEA, to indicate corrective actions. Moreover, it was analyzed whether, after introducing these activities, it was possible to eliminate or limit defects in the production process. For this purpose, the level of the RPN index was recalculated - after the changes were introduced. Furthermore, the costs of defects before and after the introduction of corrective actions were estimated.

Rozwiązania pokazane w artykule na przykładzie wybranego studium przypadku, mogą zostać zaadoptowane przez inne podmioty gospodarcze, borykające się z podobnymi problemami w analizowanym zakresie.
The study concerns the analysis and as a result of its improvement, the process of managing returnable packaging from customers in a large enterprise, dealing in the production of car body seals for cars and the production of transmission belts for the automotive industry and household appliances. Problems identified in the company in the field of packaging management were presented and an improvement project was proposed, including implementation of the 5S method and the Kanban system. The solutions shown in the article on the example of a selected case study may be adopted by other business entities struggling with similar problems in the analyzed scope.

Traditional statistical process control approaches are less effective in dealing with multivariate and autocorrelated processes. With the continual increase in process complexity, this inefficiency is becoming more apparent. A special type of multivariate and autocorrelated process is a process occurring within a heterogeneous production environment (a variety of types of machines, pots, etc. used for the same task). This makes the quality control of such processes more difficult. The approach presented in the paper utilizes time series fitting, cluster analysis and association mining in relation to a single data mining model for the analysis of complex multivariate autocorrelated processes. The aim is to divide the production cells (machines, pots, etc.) into groups exhibiting similar behaviors. This can then be used for more effective quality control of the entire process and afterwards to analyze the reasons for this behavior. This paper includes someof the results obtained from applying the model to an actual multivariate high autocorrelated process, the production of primary aluminum using the Hall-Heroult electrolysis process. The Hall-Heroult electrolysis process is a continual process that is ongoing in several pots simultaneously. The average plant operates 300 pots. Therefore, the quality control of such a complex process faces many issues concerning monitoring and problem diagnosis. The paper describes a method for dividing the pots into control groups exhibiting similar behaviors, which can then be used in the planning phase of the quality control analysis and to make improvements within these groups and thereby within the whole process.

Artykuł dotyczy wykorzystania wybranych narzędzi jakości w celu analizy i oceny jakości serka homogenizowanego produkowanego przez badaną Okręgową Spółdzielnię Mleczarską. Zastosowano takie narzędzia jakości, jak: histogram, diagram Ishikawy, diagram relacji, oraz diagram systematyki w celu analizy i oceny danych liczbowych oraz problemów jakościowych i poszukiwania rozwiązań. Dokonano oceny stabilności masy netto badanego produktu, w tym celu użyto kart kontrolne, oraz oceny zdolności jakościowej procesu przy wykorzystaniu wskaźników Cp i Cpk. Wykazano, że proces dozowania jest statystycznie ustabilizowany, natomiast tego procesu nie można uznać jako zdolnego jakościowo. Wykazano także, że na jakość produktu mają wpływ różnorodne czynniki, które są związane z wystąpieniem niezgodności oraz posiadają wzajemne powiązania między sobą. Określono, aby udoskonalić proces produkcyjny oraz poprawić jakość produktu spożywczego należy zapewnić szkolenia dla pracowników, poprawę warunków ich pracy oraz odpowiednio ich motywować. Należy zwiększyć także częstotliwość dokonywania przeglądów linii produkcyjnej, a także jak najlepiej dopasować ustawienia maszyn wykorzystywanych przy produkcji.
The article concerns the use of selected quality tools to analyze and evaluate the quality of homogenized cheese produced by the examined District Dairy Cooperative. Quality tools such as a histogram, Ishikawa diagram, interrelationship diagram, and tree diagram were used to analyze and evaluate numerical data and quality problems and search for solutions. The stability of the net mass of the tested product was assessed, for the purpose control cards were used, and the qualitative capability of the process was assessed with the use of Cp and Cpk indices. It has been shown that the dosing process is statistically stabilized, but this process cannot be considered qualitatively capable. It has also been shown that the quality of the product is influenced by various factors that are related to the occurrence of non-conformance and are related to each other. It was determined that in order to improve the production process and improve the quality of the food product, it is necessary to provide training for employees, to improve their working conditions and to motivate them accordingly. The frequency of inspections of the production line should also be increased, as well as the best adjustment of the settings of machines used in production.

In times of innovation, rapid economic development and high competition, each producer tries to improve the condition of his company. Then the quality of services or products is improved, losses are minimized, production processes are optimized and costs associated with running a business are reduced. The Kaizen philosophy can be used to solve any problem and issue related to work in the organization. Its main value is to strive for the continuous company’s development through small ideas, which incrementally cause continuous improvement of the company. The paper presents how the functioning of the Kaizen philosophy in a company affects the initiatives of employees, which directly affect the optimization of processes. The presented research results show how innovative solutions consisting in limiting the use of masking tapes influence the improvement of product assembly process.

The elaboration concerns the analysis of the issue of process and product improvement, taking into account the quality management methods and tools commonly used in industrial practice and required by the industrial standards. The quality management methods and tools which are most commonly used in practice were indicated, taking into account their correlation and significance for effective improvement process as part of the systemic approach to quality management. A general model of systemic approach to process and product improvement with the use of the quality management methods and tools indicated in the elaboration was proposed.

Zaprezentowane przedsiębiorstwo jest przykładem, gdzie zarządzanie procesami przebiega sprawnie, nie może ono jednak istnieć bez normy oraz procedur ich opisujących.
Currently, the system and process approach is listed as one of eight quality management principles of ISO 9001. The company, which has been the subject of research is a manufacturing company located in the middle of central Poland, which produces machines with low seriality, but a large complexity. In these companies can be divided into 3 types of standard processes: the mai, auxiliary and management. The audited company is an example of pro- active in this field, where management processes run smoothly, but it can not exist without standards and procedures describing all these principles.

The aim of the article is to show the ability to use visual management concepts to improve operations and processes in manufacturing companies. The article indicates the large potential of this management concept in communicating information and solving the problems, it was highlighted the fact of superiority that concept over the others due to the orientation on human senses, particularly the sense of sight by the fact that the recipient - employees are the most sensitive to visual stimuli, tactile and auditory, when they are directly in our environment. It specifies the fundamental objectives of the use of visual management in manufacturing companies, conditions of its use, ways to assess the effectiveness and efficiency and tangible benefits resulting from the implementation of this concept.

Opis:

Improvement of processes connected with maintenance is important from the perspective of the company’s productivity. The proper functioning of the departments responsible for maintaining technical assets in working order affects the production efficiency, safety of the operating personnel, quality of the products and the effectiveness of realisation of the production plans. One of the most important tasks of the maintenance department is minimising the length of stoppages caused by breakdowns. The article presents a proposal of using SPC tools for the constant improvement of the maintenance process. Implementation of static process control allowed for identifying the major problems which lengthen the breakdown removal time, as well as continuously monitoring the breakdown removal process. The study is based on breakdown data gathered in a production company over the period of three years.
Doskonalenie procesów związanych z utrzymaniem ruchu jest istotne z punktu widzenia produktywności przedsiębiorstwa. Od sprawnie działających służb odpowiedzialnych za utrzymanie w sprawności środków technicznych zależy wydajność produkcji, bezpieczeństwo obsługujących, jakość wyrobów oraz skuteczność realizacji planów produkcyjnych. Jednym z najważniejszych zadań utrzymania ruchu jest minimalizowanie długości trwania przestojów spowodowanymi awariami. W artykule zaprezentowano propozycję zastosowania narzędzi SPC do ciągłego doskonalenia procesu utrzymania ruchu. Implementacja statystycznej kontroli procesu umożliwiła identyfikację najważniejszych problemów wpływających na przedłużanie czasu usuwania awarii oraz stały monitoring procesu usuwania awarii. Opracowanie opiera się na danych o awariach zbieranych w jednym z przedsiębiorstw produkcyjnych w okresie trzech lat.

Opis:

The article presents the essence of the method of value stream mapping on the example of a selected production process in an automotive company. The analysis presented in the paper concerned the indication of potential organizational possibilities of actions aimed at implementing changes in the organization based on the results of measuring the process with the use of the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) indicator. All stages of the production process were explained, which allowed to obtain the results of the process efficiency analyses. Further on, the results of the analysis of process improvement in accordance with the PDCA approach are discussed. The significance of establishing the method in order to improve the functioning of the process and the meaning and usage of the value stream mapping methodology in building successful relations with the end customer were emphasized. The undertaken activities constitute a research gap defined as follows: the effectiveness of management methods in an organization depends on the efficiency of using the applied indicators and reacting to changes. Thus, defining models with potential application capabilities in order to increase management effectiveness is one of the most important issues in the area of enterprise organization.

Dokonana została także weryfikacja oddziaływania zakładowej kontroli produkcji na doskonalenie, zarówno produktu, jak i procesu, w oparciu o badania własne przeprowadzone w trzech organizacjach prowadzących działalność produkcyjną.
The study drew attention to the difference between a certified factory production control and quality management system according to iso 9001. It was also depicted by the range of impacts of factory production control on the organizations. The impact of the factory production control was reviewed to improve both the product and process, on the basis of research carried out in the three organizations engaged in production activities.

The purpose of this paper is the identification of main areas of customer service process improving in the cinema with using the Servqual and the Importance-Performance methods. The first part of the article contains theorecital characteristic of the chosen research methods. Afterwards, there are presented the results of the empirical research conducted on the group of one hundred cinema customers which analysis contributed to the indication of the most important attributes of the process that require improving.
Podstawowym celem artykułu jest identyfikacja kluczowych obszarów doskonalenia procesu obsługi klienta w kinie z wykorzystaniem metody Servqual i Importance-Performance Analysis. Pierwsza część opracowania zawiera teoretyczną charakterystykę wybranych metod badawczych. Następnie przedstawione zostały wyniki badań empirycznych przeprowadzonych na grupie stu klientów kina, których analiza przyczyniła się do wskazania najważniejszych cech procesu wymagających doskonalenia.

Mapowanie procesu w zarządzaniu jakością ma istotne znaczenie, ponieważ pozwala przeanalizować w sposób szczegółowy zachodzące procesy w organizacji i na tej podstawie przeprowadzać analizę za pomocą wybranych narzędzi lub metod zarzadzania jakością, krytycznych punktów występujących w procesie produkcji. Organizacje stale poszukują nowych, innowacyjnych rozwiązań i metod, których zastosowanie może doprowadzić je do wyższej efektywności działania i podwyższenia jakość produktów. Istotnym działaniem współczesnych firm jest identyfikacja przyczyn braków zarejestrowanych podczas procesu produkcji i analiza reklamacji od klienta zewnętrznego. Pozwala to na obniżenie kosztów produkcji i wzrost wiarygodności w oczach klienta. Aby jednak to osiągnąć należy w pierwszej kolejności przeprowadzić mapowanie procesu. W artykule zostało zaprezentowane doskonalenie procesu produkcyjnego przesiewacza wibracyjnego produkowanego przez przedsiębiorstwo produkujące maszyny i urządzenia dla przemysłu wydobywczego za pomocą mapy procesy. Przeprowadzona analiza pozwoliła na zaproponowanie korekt i zmian w przebiegu procesu produkcji co pozwoliło na podniesienie efektywności wytwarzania analizowanego produktu.
Process mapping is of significant importance in quality management as it allows us to precisely analyse the processes going on in the organisation and, based on it, conduct an analysis of the critical points in the production process using selected quality management tools or methods. Organisations constantly search for new, innovative solutions and methods which can be used to increase their efficiency and product quality. An important measure taken by today's companies is the identification of causes of the defects recorded in the production process, and analysis of returns from external clients. This makes it possible to reduce production costs and increase the company's reliability in the eyes of the client. However, to achieve it, the company first needs to map the process. The article presents improving the production process of a vibrating screen manufactured by a company which produces machinery and equipment for the mining industry, using a process map. The analysis conducted made it possible to propose corrections and changes to the production process, which increased the efficiency of the analysed product.

The article presents the results in the scope of analysis and improvement of the galvanized wire production process with the use of Six Sigma's DMAIC cycle. The basic problem was identified - incorrect wire diameters after galvanizing and specific tools and methods were used to analyze this problem and look for its solution. The potential of Pareto analysis, SPC method, control plan, 5WHY analysis was used. As a result of the analyzes carried out, the source cause was identified - contaminated containers dispensing the preparation maintaining the temperature in the galvanizing unit. To eliminate the problem, maintenance of the machine used to cover the bare wire with zinc was carried out, which allowed to achieve the following results: standstills at the Drawing and Galvanizing Department were eliminated, the duration of the manufacturing process and the percentage of products beyond the specification were significantly reduced.

In this note, a novel robust control design for a class of unstable systems with dual pole and dual zero is addressed. In the algorithm, αfeedback node was moved from the interior of the controlled plant to its right-hand side. Then, the closed-loop gain shaping algorithm was used to design the feedback transfer function. Consequently, controller and the controlled plant have clear physical meaning and are easily tuned. Simulation results show that the control effects are better than for the previous modification, the system can have rapid settling time with no overshoot, zero steadystate error and satisfactory robust stability to model perturbation and disturbance. The method has the advantages of simple and efficient design, and it was also successfully applied to control static unstable missile.

W artykule zaprezentowano udaną próbę wdrożenia metody 8D, czyli Eight Disciplines do rozwiązania problemów zidentyfikowanych w procesie remontowym wagonów kolejowych. Metoda 8D wykorzystywana jest przede wszystkim przez inżynierów jakości w przemyśle motoryzacyjnym, ale z powodzeniem może zostać zaimplementowania w innych procesach produkcyjnych i usługowych. Na podstawie danych historycznych zidentyfikowano najbardziej znaczące problemy w procesie naprawczym, a następnie wykorzystując metodę 8D znaleziono ich przyczyny i opracowano działania doskonalące, co w znacznym stopniu udoskonaliło analizowany proces.
In the article a successful attempt of applying the 8D method, i.e. Eight Disciplines, to solve problems identified in the process of railway carriage renovation has been presented. The 8D Method is mainly used by quality engineers in the automotive industry, but it can also be successfully implemented in other processes related to production and the provision of services. Based on historical data, the author identified the most significant problems in the repair process and, using the 8D method, found their causes and developed improvement actions, which considerably streamlined the analysed process.

An enterprise which is managed in a modern way should be based on the concept of knowledge management. It is particularly important in the case of processes related to facility maintenance, where the efficiency and effectiveness of work is directly connected with the employees’ knowledge. Improvement of processes involved in facility maintenance has a real influence on the productivity of a manufacturing enterprise. High accessibility of technical equipment and its correct functioning influence not only production efficiency but also the quality of products and the safety of operators. The article is a description of an attempt to implement one of quality engineering methods for improving the facility maintenance process. The author decided to use the 8D method to shorten the duration of downtimes caused by breakdowns. Owing to the conducted analysis and the implementation of the improvement and preventive actions, we were able to shorten the duration of a downtime of a machine having a crucial importance for the company. Investigations and implementation were conducted in one of Silesian production plants.

Opis:

Purpose: The aim of the paper is to present a case of effective application of the indicator analysis to assess and improve the process of installing a fiber optic Internet network installation at the customer’s site. The processes carried out outside the company’s headquarters, in particular their limited possibility of supervision and direct contact with the customer, cause these processes to require a special approach to management. Design / methodology / approach: The assessment of the installation process was carried out by means of the indicator analysis. The key indicators and their target values were obtained on the basis of research conducted in one of the telecommunications companies. The assessment of the quality and efficiency of the process and the effectiveness of improvement actions was based on observations and analysis of data from the company’s reports from 2017 and 2019. The theoretical scope of the work concerns methods of improving the quality and efficiency of manufacturing processes. Findings: The research process identified a set of indicators that can be used to assess the process of installation of systems in the examined company or similar ones. The quality and efficiency of the analyzed process was evaluated. The key factors determining these process properties were identified, owing to which it was possible to determine the necessary improvement actions to be implemented in the examined organization. A comparative analysis was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the implemented solutions. Practical implications: The study allowed to broaden the knowledge about the analyzed process in terms of methods of its measurement and factors having a decisive influence on its quality and efficiency. The process under analysis has been effectively improved. Originality / value: Application of the indicator analysis to a process with limited supervisory capabilities, key impact on customer satisfaction and business costs. The paper is addressed to the managerial staff of telecommunications companies involved in the installation of Internet network systems outside the company’s headquarters. The paper contains identified indicators of the assembly process and factors, mainly organizational ones, affecting its characteristics.

W warunkach współczesnego rynku proces produkcji i logistyki musi mieć charakter wielowymiarowy i wielokryterialny. Działania związane z produkcją i logistyką są ze sobą ściśle powiązane. Doskonalenie procesu produkcji i obszarów logistyki w przedsiębiorstwach ma ogromne znaczenie i może przynieść wiele korzyści. Każda optymalizacja procesu produkcji i logistyki powinna być przeanalizowana, dostosowana do potrzeb danego przedsiębiorstwa i sukcesywnie wdrażana. Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia propozycje doskonalenia procesu produkcji i logistyki w badanym przedsiębiorstwie, poprzez identyfikację problemów funkcjonalnych. Ponadto wskazuje istotne możliwe do uzyskania korzyści, wynikające z zastosowania narzędzi, systemów i technik optymalizujących obszary produkcji i logistyki w organizacji.

Opis:

Podnoszenie efektywności funkcjonowania systemów lotniczych dotyczy również ich systemów eksploatacji. Ocena obiektu technicznego (OT), w tym systemu utrzymania jego stanu zdatności (systemu obsługiwania), może być dokonana w oparciu o kryterium dostępności (gotowości), czyli zdolności do wykorzystania OT do realizacji nakazanego zadania, po wystąpieniu takiej potrzeby. Wskaźniki dostępności OT łączą w sobie trzy parametry: niezawodność, podatność obsługowa oraz efektywność systemu wsparcia (logistyki). Wspominana podatność obsługowa, charakteryzująca pracochłonność czynności obsługowych, jest podatna na modyfikacje. Dlatego zasadnym jest zbadanie możliwości „optymalizacji” systemu utrzymania stanu zdatności OT, w zakresie planowych obsług zapobiegawczych PM (Preventive Maintenance). W swoim referacie przedstawiłem przykład podniesienia poziomu dostępności OT przy wykorzystaniu metodologii RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance), tj. metody doboru czynności obsługowych, pod katem ich odpowiedniości oraz efektywności dla zachowania istotnych funkcji OT. Podstawowym warunkiem stosowania RCM dla modyfikacji systemów obsługiwania OT jest bezwarunkowe zapewnienie: bezpieczeństwa eksploatacji, skuteczności realizacji wymaganego zadania oraz ekonomiki eksploatacji. Przy analizie niniejszego zagadnienia posłużyłem się przykładem systemu obsługiwania śmigłowca morskiego Mi-14PŁ. Ten statek powietrzny jest eksploatowany wg. strategii PBM (Preventive Based Maintenance) – planowych obsług zapobiegawczych. To powoduje, że jego obsługiwanie cechuje duża pracochłonność, wskaźnik MMFH (średniej pracochłonności obsług na godzinę nalotu) przekracza wartość 25 rh/h nalotu. Stosując RCM zaprezentowałem metodę zmniejszenia ww. pracochłonności obsług. Przy pomocy opracowanego modelu przedstawiłem sposób badania poziomu dostępności OT (śmigłowców). Pozytywną cechą metodologii RCM jest możliwość stosowania jej do OT (np. śmigłowców), będących już w eksploatacji. Daje to bardzo skuteczne narzędzie obniżania wskaźników pracochłonności obsługiwania i tym samym poprawy wskaźników dostępności dla śmigłowców od lat eksploatowanych wg. nieefektywnych strategii eksploatacji.
Improvement of effectiveness of aviation systems performance is related to their maintenance systems as well. The assessment of technical item (including its maintenance system) can be done from availability perspective, which means ability of the item to be ready to perform dedicated task, when it is needed. The availability combines three factors: reliability, maintainability and supportability. The mentioned maintainability as maintenance workload measure is able to be modified. So it is reasonable to research capability to optimize the preventive maintenance procedures for the item. In this paper I have presented example of improving item`s availability by utilizing RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) analysis. The RCM is a process of selection the most appropriate and effective maintenance actions to keep significant functions of the item. The basic rule of using RCM to modify maintenance system is unconditionally keeping for the item: high level of safety, effectiveness of performing dedicated task and economy of service. As an example of this topic I have analyzed Mi-14PŁ maritime helicopter maintenance system. Maintenance of this aircraft is based on Preventive Based Maintenance (PBM) strategy, which effects on very high workload rate for maintenance system – the value of its MMFH (Maintenance Manhours per Flight Hours) index is over 25 man-hours/flight hour. Applying RCM process I have shown the method of reduction of maintenance man – hours. Thanks to specially designed model I have presented the way of analysis of helicopter availability level. Very positive feature of RCM is its ability to be applied for technical items (for example helicopters) already being in service. It gives effective tool to reduce maintenance man-hours and improve availability rates, for helicopters which have been maintained in accordance with poor effective maintenance system for years.

The chapter presents use of the DMAIC method for the analysis and improvement of the process of soldering pins in a plug connecting a bundle of wires to the board of a controller, part of the steering system of a passenger car. The main problem in the soldering process - an unsatisfactory share of bad soldered connections between the board and the plug and the instability of that number - was identified using a five-phase improvement process. Key points and main causes of the defect were pointed out, and process improvement measures suggested. Due to the analysis conducted and the correct implementation of improvement measures the share of defective connections has been decreased twofold.

Opis:

Cel: zasadniczym celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza znajomości przez studentów wykorzystania i możliwości zastosowania modelowania procesów biznesowych w usprawnianiu organizacji. Projekt/metodologia/podejście: badania dokonano za pomocą metody CAWI. Przygotowaną do tego celu ankietę najpierw zweryfikowano przy udziale ekspertów z dziedziny modelowania procesów biznesowych, a następnie udostępniono studentom do wypełnienia na serwerach Wydziału Zarządzania Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Badana dotyczyły znajomości pojęć związanych z modelowaniem procesów biznesowych. Wyniki: badania pokazały, że zainteresowanie najnowszymi zasadami zarządzania procesami technologicznymi wśród studentów nie jest zbyt wysokie, a pojawiające się nowości w tym zakresie nie są znane. Pokazały też, że główną barierą dla studentów w zakresie modelowania procesów biznesowych jest konieczność uczenia się narzędzi pozwalających na ich wspomaganie. Większość ankietowanych stwierdziła, że wykorzystałaby modelowanie procesów biznesowych w celu usprawnienia działalności organizacji. Ostatecznie sformułowano wnioski dotyczące świadomości wykorzystania modelowania procesów biznesowych przy usprawnianiu organizacji w chwili obecnej wśród osób, które będą je stosować w najbliższej przyszłości. Ograniczenia/implikacje badawcze: przeprowadzone badanie miało swoje ograniczenia – zostało przeprowadzone tylko na jednym wydziale uniwersyteckim, co nie pozwala na daleko idące uogólnienia. Wydawać by się mogło, że po dwóch latach zajęć z podstaw informatyki oraz technologii informacyjnych, studenci powinni uzupełniać swoje zainteresowania wiedzą, która gwarantuje im późniejsze zatrudnienie i świadczy o rozumieniu przez nich procesów. Oryginalność/wartość: na podstawie badań dowiedziono, że pomimo niewielkiej wiedzy studentów na temat komputerowego modelowania procesów biznesowych, uznają oni je za niezbędne dla rozwoju organizacji.
Purpose: The main aim of this article is to analyze the knowledge of the students – future users of these systems – of the awareness of the use and possibilities of using business process modeling in improving the organization. Design/Methodology/Approach: The research was carried out using the CAWI method. The questionnaire prepared for this purpose was first verified with the participation of experts in the field of business process modeling and then made available to students to fill in on the servers of the Faculty of Management of the University of Warsaw. The study concerned general knowledge of concepts related to business process modeling, and detailed knowledge of definitions of selected categories in this field. Findings: The research has shown that the interest in the latest technologies among students is not very high, and the emerging new products are not known. Research has shown that the main barrier for students to model business processes is the need to learn tools. Finally, conclusions were drawn regarding the awareness of the use of business process modeling in improving the organization at present among people who will use it in the near future. Research limitations/Implications: The conducted study had its limitations – it was carried out only in one university department. The analysis of the views of the most active users does not allow us to judge the assessment of the entire society. It would seem that after two years of classes in the basics of computer science and information technology, students can supplement their interests with knowledge that almost guarantees them later employment and proves their understanding and modern approach to the interpretation of economic phenomena. Originality/Value: If such an opportunity arose, most of the respondents would use business process modeling to improve the organization’s operations. The use of business processes evaluates employees and intellectual capital to make informed decisions. Employee awareness and commitment are essential elements for the successful use of models.

W konsekwencji w doskonaleniu procesów logistycznych przedsiębiorstwa mogą być zastosowane równocześnie koncepcje zarządzania projektami, zarządzania procesami oraz zarządzania jakością. Wskazane jest ich łączne wykorzystanie, co w praktyce napotyka na różnego rodzaju ograniczenia i bariery. W artykule zaprezentowane zostaną przejawy i skutki braku koordynacji tych koncepcji w doskonaleniu procesów logistycznych przedsiębiorstwa oraz możliwe sposoby przeciwdziałania temu. Artykuł ma charakter teoretyczno-metodyczny, a do jego przygotowania wykorzystano metodę krytycznej analizy literatury przedmiotu.
Logistics processes support the basic business processes and they are subject to improvement. Improving logistics processes can have the character of ongoing improvements and/or major changes. The last ones are introduced with the help of the projects. Consequently in the improvement of logistics business processes at the same time the concepts of project management, process management and quality management can be used. It is indicated to use them combined which in practice encounters all sorts of restrictions and barriers. This article will present the symptoms and consequences of a lack of these concepts coordination in the logistic business processes improvement and the possible ways to prevent this. The article has a theoretical-methodological character and its preparation has been based on the critical analysis of the subject literature method.

Następnie, przedstawiono opracowanie diagramu Ishikawy oraz wyszczególnienie jednej grupy kategorii dla problemu: zła jakość wyrobu gotowego – czekolady mlecznej.
The objective of the article is to present the practical application of the Ishikawa diagram in quality management for chosen production process. The first part of the analysis contains the theoretical framework of quality, quality management and characteristic of the Ishikawa diagram: the essence, objective, methodology and advantages and barriers of using the Ishikawa diagram. Afterwards, the Ishikawa diagram with specification of one category group for the problem: low quality of a finished product – milk chocolate has been presented.

Artykuł poświęcony został problematyce postępowania przyspieszonego. The paper covers the issue of the accelerated penal procedure. It discusses conditions for the application of this mode under Polish law and presents them against the background of regulations in force in other countries, including Germany, France, Spain, Portugal and Belgium. The assumption of the study was to assess Polish legal solutions and to demonstrate the basic similarities and differences between laws of the aforesaid countries.

The objective of the analysis conducted and described in this paper has been to present the practical application of the Six Sigma method based on the DMAIC cycle in improving the quality of the service process. The first part of the article contains the theoretical framework of six sigma and the issue of using its tools in the aspect of services. Afterwards, there has been calculated the initial sigma value which indicated the need for improvement. Measurement phase has been developed by the value stream mapping, process FMEA and customer survey which results have been analyzed in Pareto chart and fishbone diagram. Improve phase includes the Impact&Effort Matrix and target sigma level that can be achieved as a result of failures reducing and service quality improvement.

Opis:

Artykuł podejmuje dwa główne zagadnienia. Pierwszym są dysfunkcje prawa, drugim możlie kierunki jego doskonalenia, w zakresie procesu ustawodawczego. Wady polskiego prawa są różne. Należą do nich między innymi  inflacja prawa, jego mała czytelność, brak jasnych podstaw aksjologicznych, transgresja rozumiana jako przekraczanie obszarów materialnych przez akty prawne usytuowane na różnych poziomach w hierarchii aktów prawnych. Mankamentami prawa są również jego zbyt częste zmiany oraz nadmierna instrumentalizacja. Dlatego istnieje potrzeba usprawnienia procesu ustawodawczego. Wydaje się, że zmiany powinny odpowiadać kilku podstawowym hasłom. Każde z nich zawiera oczywiście wiele pomniejszych elementów, które także powinny być przedmiotem ewentualnych korekt. Są nimi kierunkowe wskazania:  1) proces ustawodawczy powinien być bardziej racjonalny; 2) proces ustawodawczy powinien być bardziej profesjonalny; 3) proces ustawodawczy powinien być bardziej uspołeczniony; 4) proces ustawodawczy powinien być bardziej kontrolowany i 5) proces ustawodawczy powinien być bardziej  efektywny.
Article take two main issues. The first are the dysfunctions of the law, the second possibility directions of its improvement, in terms of the legislative process. Disadvantages of Polish law are different. These include, among other things, inflation law, his little clarity, the lack of clear axiological foundations, transgression understood as crossing areas by material acts arranged at different levels in the hierarchy of legal acts. Drawbacks of law are also the too frequent changes and excessive instrumentation. Therefore, there is need to improve the legislative process. It seems that the change should correspond to a few basic terms. Each course includes a number of smaller items, which should also be subject to any adjustments. They are directional indications: 1) the legislative process should be more rational; 2) the legislative process should be more professional; 3) the legislative process should be more socialized; 4) the legislative process should be more controlled and 5) legislative process should be more effective.

Despite the fact that many researchers and practitioners agree that organisational issues are equally important as technical issues from the software cost estimation (SCE) success point of view, most of the research focus has been put on the development of methods, whereas organisational factors have received surprisingly little academic scrutiny. This study aims to identify organisational factors that either support or hinder meaningful SCE, identifying their impact on estimation success. Top management’s role is specifically addressed. The study takes a qualitative and explorative case study based approach. In total, 18 semi-structured interviews aided the study of three projects in three organisations. Hence, the transferability of the results is limited. The results suggest that the role of the top management is important in creating prerequisites for meaningful estimation, but their day-to-day participation is not required for successful estimation. Top management may also induce undesired distortion in estimation. Estimation maturity and estimation success seem to have an interrelationship with software process maturity, but there seem to be no significant individual organisational factors, which alone would make estimation successful. Our results validate several distortions and biases reported in the previous studies, and show the SCE research focus has remained on methodologies and technical issues.

Opis:

Kształtowanie środowiska pracy w przestrzeni produkcyjnej to bardzo ważny aspekt z punktu widzenia zarówno bezpieczeństwa i higieny pracy, jak i efektywności czy ciągłości procesów produkcyjnych. W świetle nowoczesnych technik zarządzania pełen pakiet rozwiązań do doskonalenia środowiska pracy zawiera koncepcja lean management, wspierana przez narzędzia, metody i koncepcje, takie jak: metoda 5S, kaizen czy ciągłe doskonalenie. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań mających na celu określenie poziomu zrozumienia podstawowych zasad lean management przez pracowników przedsiębiorstw produkcyjnych.
Shaping the working environment in the production space is a very important aspect both from the point of view of occupational health and safety, as well as efficiency and production processes continuity. Modeling conditions at the workplace relates primarily to compliance with legal provisions and minimizing the impact of various factors on the employee. In the light of modern management techniques, the full package of solutions for improving the work environment includes the concept of lean management supported by tools, methods and concepts, such as the 5S method, kaizen, continuous improvement. This paper presents the results of research aimed at determining the level of the lean management basic principles understanding by employees from manufacturing companies.

Opis:

Wśród specjalizacji inteligentnych dla województwa śląskiego wymieniane są technologie informatyczne i telekomunikacyjne. Problemem, który występuje w tym obszarze w wielu organizacjach jest ręczna realizacja procesów, w ramach których przetwarzane są dane. Problem ten występuje pomimo stosowania nowoczesnych rozwiązań informatycznych a czasami jest nawet związany z ich wykorzystywaniem. Może on zostać rozwiązany poprzez zautomatyzowanie procesów z wykorzystaniem narzędzi tworzonych w arkuszach kalkulacyjnych. Przykład takiego narzędzia, wdrożonego w celu automatyzacji procesu generowania komunikatów EDI w systemie klasy ERP został opisany w artykule. Przedstawiono przebieg procesu wykonywanego przez człowieka oraz omówiono główne elementy zaproponowanego narzędzia. Porównano także czasy konieczne do realizacji procesu w różnych wariantach zarówno przed, jak i po wdrożeniu stworzonego narzędzia.
Information and telecommunication technologies are among the smart specialisations defined for Silesian Voivodeship. The problem faced by many organisations in this respect is the manual execution of processes which involve data processing. It exists in spite of using state-of-the-art IT solutions, and there are even cases when it exactly stems from their application. It may be solved through process automation by means of tools created in spreadsheets. An example of such a tool, deployed for the purpose of automation of a process implemented for generation of EDI messages in an ERP class system, has been described in the article. What has also been discussed is the course of a process performed by a man as well as basic components of the tool proposed. The article also provides a comparison of duration times required to complete the process under different variants, both before and after the implementation of the tool created.

Opis:

The aim of this article is to show the use of the analysis of the failure causes and effects as a prevention tool in controlling the quality of a given production process in the company. The scope of the work covers an analysis of a selected process, definition of inconsistencies present in this process, and then the FMEA analysis. In the production company one should implement thinking and actions based on the so-called ‘quality loop’ – it is an interdependence model of the undertaken actions which affect the quality shaping. It is carried out from the possibility for identifying a customer’s requirements through a project, production process, up to the assessment of effective capability for meeting the defined requirements. The application of such an approach enables to take the actions improving the operation of quality management in a systemic way.

The study presents the results of completed research using the observation of a work station in a selected manufacturing enterprise. Their aim was to assess the effectiveness of the operator’s work organization, to propose improvements, to implement the proposals and to finally assess the changes introduced. The publication contains a detailed description of the research and implementation procedure that can meet the expectations of practitioners as an example of the use of research in the production sphere.

Opis:

Purpose: Critical defects are of great significance when evaluating the production process effectiveness, especially in the automotive branch. It is important to analyse these defects and distinguish the crucial ones. In this article, the authors have identified critical defects in the process of brake master cylinders production using quality management tools, and proposed improvement actions. Design/methodology/approach: The aim of the article was to analyse defects and the reasons for their occurrence, and improve the production process of master cylinder with special attention to critical defects. In order to improve this process, critical flaws had to be identified and eliminated from the entire set, which was the engineering problem to be solved. Then the causes of their occurrence as well as the factors causing process disturbances affecting the final occurrence of the defect were identified, and actions eliminating or limiting their occurrence were proposed. In the project, they were used to analyse the tools and principles, i.e. process diagram, Pareto-Lorenz diagram, cause-effect diagram, and to improve the Poka-Yoke process. Findings: Based on the examined causes of defects, improvements were proposed, i.e. guides for applying the body, a program stopping the piston assembly station to control the oil level, purchase of caps from sealed material and the need to work in long-sleeved work clothing, moving the body type verification camera from the final to first station, pallet spacers to protect against piston damage, change of supplier, especially of body castings. Research limitations/implications: The major limitation of the paper is that it is based on one case of an organization. In the future, it will be necessary to conduct studies in more organizations so as to find out if the same result can be achieved. Originality/value: Until now, no quality management tools have been used to analyse and organize the formation of defects in production processes.

Opis:

The paper presents the results of qualitative analysis and improvement of the printing process with UV inks on glass packaging with the use of selected quality management tools and methods. The research was carried out in a glass factory located in the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland. The qualitative analysis included the risk assessment related to the printing process with UV inks, print quality, and the type of nonconformities occurring during printing. Based on the conducted analyses, proposals for improving the printing process with UV inks were determined. As part of the analyses, such methods and quality tools as fault tree, FMEA analysis, Pareto-Lorenz diagram, and tree diagram were used. It was found that the most common nonconformity of printing with UV inks on glass packaging is smearing of the emulsion covering the glass vessel and that most of the nonconformities resulted from errors made by employees, which were caused by non-compliance with the instructions for individual activities by people employed in production positions and quality inspection employees. It was proposed to implement employee training at individual workplaces, in particular the implementation of instructions for performing specific activities, as well as the introduction of additional employee supervision and implementation of changes in the management of the printing process and quality inspection of the decorated products.

Opis:

A procedure of the modernisation of the maintenance system of the tramcars used in public transport was presented in this paper. The analysis is based on the maintenance information stored in the database of a city transport company. General and seasonal changes of the number of failures are analysed as well as their reasons and consequences. The effects of the failures are counted proportionally to the financial loss that is characteristic for each of tramcar. Using reliability indexes is essential for the proper description of the failure frequency of the tramcars were presented. The analysis allows one to evaluate the quality of the available information about maintenance process. Therefore, it may lead to decisions about improving the data storage system. The whole procedure provides information that is useful in choosing possible and effective ways of improving the maintenance system which will consequently lead to a reduction of the number of tramcars' failures and a better utilisation of financial resources. The results of the analysis are useful during planning the times of maintenance work, the extents of regular servicing and the supply of spare parts as well as the possibilities of modernising the rolling stock.
W opracowaniu przedstawiono procedurę modernizacji systemu obsługiwania wagonów tramwajowych funkcjonujących w komunikacji miejskiej. Działania podejmowane są w oparciu o informację eksploatacyjną zgromadzoną w bazie danych przedsiębiorstwa transportowego. Przeprowadzona analiza oraz zaproponowana metodyka ocenowa uwzględniają koszty ponoszone przez przedsiębiorstwo. Przedstawione charakterystyki niezawodnościowe stanowią podstawę działań modernizacyjnych w zakresie systemu obsługiwania. Zaproponowana procedura pozwala na ocenę procesu obsługiwana oraz realizację zmian mających na celu poprawę niezawodności. Zmiany powinny również dotyczyć funkcjonującego w przedsiębiorstwie systemu informacyjnego.
