Opis:

In this paper, we introduce and study a corresponding logic to equality-algebras and obtain some basic properties of this logic. We prove the soundness and completeness of this logic based on equality-algebras and local deduction theorem. We show that this logic is regularly algebraizable with respect to the variety of equality∆-algebras but it is not Fregean. Then we introduce the concept of (prelinear) equality∆-algebras and investigate some related properties. Also, we study ∆-deductive systems of equality∆-algebras. In particular, we prove that every prelinear equality ∆-algebra is a subdirect product of linearly ordered equality∆-algebras. Finally, we construct prelinear equality ∆ logic and prove the soundness and strong completeness of this logic respect to prelinear equality∆-algebras.

Równość jest jedną z najważniejszych kategorii w refleksji pedagogicznej, jednak określenie jej zakresu znaczeniowego jest niezwykle trudne ze względu na to, że ma ona różne dymensje: ontologiczną, prawno-społeczną, gospodarczą i polityczną. Podejmowane w literaturze próby jej określenia prowadziły zwykle do zawężania jej zakresu znaczeniowego do pewnych dymensji z równoczesnym legitymizowaniem jakiegoś obszaru nierówności. W rezultacie, równość została sprowadzona do kwestii równości w godności i równości praw oraz równości wobec prawa. Na gruncie edukacji takie ujęcie nie jest zadowalające, ponieważ daje przyzwolenie na wszystkie innerodzaje nierówności. Ponadto dotychczasowe polityki równościowe mają charakter zewnętrzny i arbitralny wobec doświadczających nierówności podmiotów. Egalitaryzacja edukacji wymaga więc zaangażowania wszystkich podmiotów w rozpoznawanie, dekonstruowanie i przeciwdziałanie nierównościom.
Equality is one of the most important categories in pedagogical reflection. However, it is difficult to determine its semantic scope, because it has many various dimensions: ontological, legal, social, economic and political ones. The attempts to define it in literature have usually led to narrowing its semantic scope to certain dimensions, while at the same time legitimizing a certain area of inequality. As a result, equality has been reduced to the matter of equality in dignity, equality of rights and legal equality. In education, this approach is not satisfactory, because it gives permission for all other types of inequality. In addition, current equality policies are external and arbitrary in the face of entities experiencing inequality. Thus, the egalitarianization of education requires involvement of all entities in recognizing, deconstructing and counteracting inequalities.

We confront Plato's understanding of equality in geometry with that of Euclid. We comment on Phaedo, 74b-c, Meno, 81e-85d and Elements, Book I. We distinguish between two meanings of equality, congruence and equality of the area, and show that in Plato equality means congruence. In Euclid, starting with the first definitions until Proposition I.34, equality means congruence. In the proof of Proposition I.35 equality gains a new meaning and two figures that are not congruent, and in this sense unequal, are considered to be equal. While Plato's geometry is based on self-evident facts, Euclid's geometry rests on deduction and the axioms that are by no means self-evident. However, the shift of meaning from congruence to equality of the area can be substantiated by reference to Euclid's axioms of equality. Finally, we present an ontological interpretation of the two attitudes to equality that we find in Plato's and Euclid's writings.

The present status of women in social life and economy has been formed for many centuries and it has been influenced by a variety of cultural and economic events. In the past, the role of women was limited to the narrow scope of household environment. The first women movements began in the USA in the late 18th century. In the late 50-ties, the European Community was created and the Treaties of Rome were signed. The article raises the issue of the situation of transgender people in Poland. It criticizes the decision making system of public administration in relation to transgender people but also to straight people. The administration in Poland is detached from the problems of society, apply the law based onthe developed, rigid standards. The Constitution emphasizes equality and respect for the individual, what is not seen in the case law and administrative activities. Article draws attention to the possibility of administrative law - material in the process of issuing a decision in relation transgendered people after gender reassignment surgery. Currently to this action is being used only civil procedure.

The paper from 1981 on the social functions of “Solidarity” is re-published and commented from the 2006 perspective. In the original paper five pairs of the opposed functions were discussed: 1) activation vs. totalisation; 2) unification vs. polarization; 3) civilization of the opponent vs. demystification of the opponent; 4) non-egalitarian egalitarianisation; and 5) institutionalization of the change. In 2006 the author observes the continuing social function of the “Solidarity,” again the conflicting way, as the positive myth that more and more serves as normative reference in current political debates, and as the real political actor that compromised itself through the active participation in politics. The significance of the old functions is discussed in reference to the complexity of non-egalitarian egalitarianism that seems to undermine the whole transformation since 1989 and went to the fore today. The value of the “dialectical functionalism” is thus reasserted.

In Israel’s legal system, equality is a fundamental principle. LGBT people in Israel suffer from discrimination due to their sexual orientation and their right to equality, parenting, and family life is impaired. Regarding the surrogacy procedure, the Supreme Court has unequivocally stated that the relevant laws discriminate against LGBT people and their fundamental rights when compared to heterosexual people. The main problem is that the statutes block the access to the surrogacy procedure of single men and male couples, harming their right to equality, right to a family life and parenting. The article suggests adopting the minority ruling of Justice Uzi Vogelman in HCJ 781/15 and declaring the nullity of the sections in the laws that discriminate against single men and male couples. This remedy is a lawful and operative solution for the inequality rooted in the surrogacy arrangements towards homosexuals that want to establish a family and become parents. The expectation from the legislature to amend the law is unrealistic, due to the political construction of the Israeli Knesset (parliament). An innovative approach for the amendment of the inequality towards LGBT people should be the nullity of the discriminating sections of the law.

Równość płci zarówno w wymiarze de jure, jak i w wymiarze de facto stanowi jeden z priorytetów w działalności Organizacji Narodów Zjednoczonych, Rady Europy oraz Unii Europejskiej. Stanowi też ważny fundament przepisów krajowych, tym ważniejszy, że ma rangę konstytucyjną. Jest ponadto zasadą mającą odniesienie do wszystkich innych zasad konstytucyjnych w państwach demokratycznych. Jak wielokrotnie podkreślał Trybunał Konstytucyjny, zasada równości ma charakter uniwersalny i wszelkie jej ograniczenia, które nie wynikają z dążenia do pogłębienia faktycznej równości społecznej, są niedopuszczalne. W niniejszym artykule autorka zaprezentowała podstawowe regulacje prawne dotyczące zasady równości płci, odnosząc się do przepisów konstytucyjnych, a także innych aktów prawnych rangi ustawy regulujących m.in. rządową politykę równości płci, prawo wyborcze i prawo pracy. Rozważania zostały uzupełnione o kilka uwag zaczerpniętych z orzecznictwa Trybunału Konstytucyjnego.
Gender equality, both de jure and de facto, is one of the priorities for United Nations, European Council and European Union activities. It is also an important foundation for the national legislation, even more so considering it has constitional status. On top of that, it is also a principle applicable for all other constitional principles in democratic countries. As the Constitutional Court repeatedly stressed, the principle of equality is universal and all its limitations, which are not a result of striving to deepen the current state of social equality, are unacceptable. In the following article the author presents basic legal regulations concerning the gender equality principle referring to constitional laws and to other acts in the rank of statute regulating government policy on gender equality, electoral law and labour law. Reflections were supplemented by several comments taken from Constitutional Tribunal orders.

This article critically analyses European jurisprudence to ascertain the extent to which the right to freedom of religion has been interpreted as a right of religion to internal autonomy. It asserts that women are being denied an effective right to freedom of religion insofar as they are unable to directly influence the content or structure of their religion. It argues that to fulfil women's equal right to freedom of religion, women's power and position within religion must be equivalent to men's. It therefore asserts that an intrinsic part of States' obligation to secure the right to freedom of religion is the facilitation of gender equality within religion. The article culminates by proposing proportionate and appropriate methods to facilitate gender equality within religion.

Provisions of the bill, inter alia, impose on entrepreneurs information and reporting obligations regarding the difference in remuneration between genders. The instruments proposed in the bill may, but do not have to, lead to a reduction in the gender pay gap, which flows, inter alia, from the fact that most employees in Poland work in micro and small enterprises. The introduction of this statute will produce administrative and financial consequences for employers, the minister competent for labour and the Social Dialogue Council, as well as for employees. Eurostat data show that gender pay gap in Poland is not high when compared to many other EU countries. The bill requires further legislative work.

Gender construction in Nigeria is culturally constructed, gender processes are inculcated through the family, school, religion, peer group etc, as such women are relegated on their line of actions culturally. Thus, gender inequality has gained momentum. However, in the Pentecostal doctrines and dogma women position have change drastically giving credence to equal partnership with the men. Hence, this research aims at showing that Pentecostalism adapting itself as a Christian denomination that saturate itself as a possible gospel, involved in the rejuvenation of humanity have tendencies towards the appreciation and equivalent status women enjoys with the men counterpart, dominantly recognizing the important role women can play in the church and the society, as such priding the feminine role as a necessary complement to the masculine role. As such, women are allowed to own their parishes, women ministry, women pastorate, women counselors, women wing, and side by side leadership role with men etc. This serves as advocacy mechanism by Pentecostal ministry to reconstruct the cultural/traditional construct of gender in Nigeria.

The issue of values is essential for Amartya Sen’s political philosophy, likewise for the early works of John Rawls. Considering the fundamental political value of social justice, Sen rejects the Rawlsian attitude because of the erroneous concept of human nature, adopted by him, which led him to a „blind” morality. He proposes a diff erent approach, referring to the notion of human capabilities on which his own theory of justice is based and he investigates it in the framework of political philosophy, which takes into account the qualitative dimension of human choices. Martha Nussbaum also builds her theory of justice on this notion, however, she derives it from the Aristotelian concept of man so that it takes on a deeper philosophical meaning. The aim of this paper is to compare and to assess both these concepts of justice, referring to human capabilities, as well as to shed some light on the new path of research in political philosophy opened by them.

From the times of William the Conqueror to 1858, jurisdiction in all marriage matters belonged to the ecclesiastical courts. The courts decided the cases applying the canon law. Marriage, as an institution of the canon law, was also the sacred sacrament. As a consequence, it was treated as an indissoluble union, lasting until the death of one spouse. Although it seemed that the idea of indissolubility of marriage was widely accepted, actions taken by people from various social layers were in contradiction to it. Since 1858 to the third decade of XX c. the English law of divorce was largely changed. This changes were accompanied by the transformation in social consciousness, that is why marriage has never been seen as before.

The paper starts with focusing on three forms in which ‘Civil Ethics’ can be considered, accord-ing to whether we approach it from the minimum Ethics common to the citizens, or universal rights, or the ethical backbone of civil society. Subsequently, the paper examines historical rea-sons that account for the imposition of the above mentioned. Which would there be the most suitable one? If civil freedom and equality are to be ethical and metaphysical mainstays of democ-ratic values, the article shows the weakness of the first two approaches. As the third one is con-cerned, it seems to be fruitful insofar as democratic values are accompanied by civic virtues, which are the only ones that can make them effective. The article is concluded with an analysis of the virtues of responsibility, strength, and prudence with the particular connotation that they have in the realm of public life.

In this article, I focus on the function of the notions of precariousness, vulnerability, and grievability of life in Judith Butler’s writings, and reflect upon their place in a broader context of the thought of what I call, following Jacques Derrida, “originary mourning.” On the one hand, therefore, I want to reconstruct Butler’s task of rethinking the possibi-lity of creating a community based on the equal allocation of precariousness and grievability. Such a reflection allows Butler to treat grievability as an insightful and unique passageway to the problematics of safeguarding of life and equality between living beings. On the other hand, by referring to the writings of Jacques Derrida, I want to inscribe Butler’s notions of precariousness and grievability in a broader framework of mourning, to show how every constitution of a social bond based on the principle of shared precariousness and vulnerability inevitably has to come up against the paradox of its genesis.

The education system and its role in reproducing gender inequality have been discussed in different European countries for over 40 years. The research-based reports from 16 European countries delivered to European Commission within Exchange of Good Practice on Gender Equality forum created a unique opportunity to learn about the main themes, intensity and stages of development of gender and education discourse across Europe. The analysis of the situation in various countries revealed some differences and similarities in the approach to introducing gender in education between post-communist countries and countries with long-time history of gender equality debate. The areas of difference refer to social perception of gender, discrepancy between official legislation and practice, cooperation with educational authorities, textbooks contents and attitude to sexual education. The major similarities concern teachers’ awareness and attitudes, gender gap between boys and girls in scholastic achievements, segregation in vocational choice and feminization of teaching profession. The country overview allows to locate Poland on the map of this European discourse as well as to show inspiring examples coming from the countries far more developed in introducing gender sensitive mechanisms in educational practice.

This text is an attempt to subjectively consider of the issue of equality, on the topic of which Ryszard Borowicz in 1988 wrote a monograph entitled “Równość i sprawiedliwość społeczna” [Equality and Social Justice]. The author, referring to a historical and legal overview of the notion of the citizen, tries to suggest that it is the political system that determines the status of its citizens. What is more, it also determines not only their legal situation but also the scope of their subjective rights, freedoms and obligations. The general principles enshrined in the constitution are the means that the legislator uses to show the citizens which values he considers the most important and which are intended to guide social change. The main goal of the authors’ deliberations is to signal the need to continue research on equality, especially given that the notion of equality should be considered from a wider perspective, for example taking into account the change of the political and legal system.

Jednym z podstawowych parametrów charakteryzującą każdą nawierzchnię lotniskową jest jej równość. Stan równości decyduje nie tylko o komforcie ruchu po nawierzchni lotniskowej, lecz również wpływa na wielkość dynamicznych oddziaływań na nawierzchnię i tym samym na bezpieczeństwo wykonywania operacji lotniczych. Ponadto, zmieniający się stan równości w wyniku obciążeń dynamicznych, złych warunków atmosferycznych czy nieodpowiedniej technologii budowy nawierzchni lotniskowych prowadzi do powstania odchyleń od pożądanego stanu w postaci nierówności podłużnych i poprzecznych. W artykule przedstawiono również: dokumenty normatywne, kryteria i metodyki oceny stanu równości oraz sposób przedstawiania wyników badań. Omówiono także możliwe zagrożenia eksploatacyjne wraz z przedstawianiem przykładowych uszkodzeń zagrażających bezpiecznemu wykonywaniu operacji lotniczych oraz działania realizowane dla poprawy warunków bezpieczeństwa.
One of the basic parameters characterizing each airfield pavement is the evenness. This parameter is decisive for the comfort of moving around the pavement, and in the same time affects the dynamic effects upon the pavement thereby influence the safety of performing aircraft operations. As the surface deteriorates, a result of the dynamic load, severe atmospheric (climatic) conditions or improper construction technology, the quality of the evenness value deviates from the desired state, in the form of longitudinal and transverse irregularities. This paper presents normative documents (standards), criteria and methodology for the evaluation of the pavement's evenness also contains a presentation of the tests results. Also discussed are the dangers of not maintaining the pavement along with a sample of the types of surface damage threatening the security and performance of the airport operations along with the actions and activities carried out to improve safety conditions.

The paper attempts to determine statistical correlations between the Knowledge Economy Index (KEI) and the measure of men and women’s equali-ty/inequality reflected in the Gender Equality Index. According to the authors’ hypothesis such correlations exist. The authors chose the methods of estimation of functional interdependencies between the selected data (KEI, GEI) for the states of the European Union. The analysis confirmed the occurrence of statistically significant positive correlations between the studied indicators, proving that the knowledge-based economy encouraged gender equality. The strongest correlations with the knowledge-based economy were found for such components of the Gender Equality Index as “Time”, “Work” and “Knowledge”, lesser ones for “Money” and “Health” and the smallest for “Power”.

In the paper I discuss theoretical differences between left and rightlibertarianism. (I will skip the specific and practical issues which differ left and rightlibertarians, including among others the minorities and immigration policies or affirmative action. I assume that practical solutions suggested by the followers of both positions stem from their theoretical assumptions.) I will focus on two issues which determine the fundamental difference between left and rightlibertarianism. These are property and equality. I compare standpoints of some leftlibertarians with the positions of rightlibertarians represented by Murray Rothbard, concerning property and equality. I conclude that the main and fundamental difference between leftand rightlibertarians concerns equality. Leftlibertarians are egalitarians whereas rightlibertarians are antiegalitarians. I also argue that egalitarian position is not compatible with the notion of full selfownership, which leftlibertarians advocate for.

Pan-Africanism was a movement developed by the African people in the wake of their struggle for recognition of their humanity, dignity and equality with the rest of the world that had battered them. This movement had among other objectives the unification of Africa, a return to Africa by people of African descent living in the Diaspora and universal expression of black pride and achievement. It was also seen as the harbinger of liberation. The onus of this research work is to assess the success or not of this movement of the African by the African and for the African with a view to showing if appreciable success has been recorded especially as it affects the objective of ensuring a return of the Africans in Diaspora to the continent. This paper seeks to highlight areas where the African of today needs to address in order to bring to fruition the benefits expected of the Pan African Movement. It also seeks to establish in very clear terms that the African has a lot of work to do or else he will more than ever before be swallowed up by the West through an unbridled acceptance without scrutiny of the agents of globalization.

Aim Religion in India continues to remain a male-bastion with men occupying positions of leadership in religious institutions and wielding inordinate control. Against this backdrop, this research analyses the recent emergence of women claiming their space in religion, with specific focus on decision making powers, accessibility to religious careers, and rights and entitlements to religious finances and accruements. Methods The review made use of extensive and in-depth analysis off secondary sources of research and informative materials available, specifically on the subject matters of religion, women and modern feminist campaigns. Major sources utilized were newspapers articles, journal articles, scholarly research on related topics and court hearings and judgments of relevant cases. Results The analysis reveals that there is clear progress by feminist movements in challenging inequality in religion, by demanding equal access to places of worship and questioning religious practices that exclude them. Women are calling out male leadership where they have abused their power under the guise of faith. Feminist movements are also demanding women’s participation in the financial endowments that accrues to religion. Women are also making determined entry into careers related to religion. The growing number of institutions that provide religious training to women are not only enabling women to take up priestly and other religious roles, but also equipping them to question patriarchal interpretation of scriptures. Conclusion While the rising feminist movement towards obtaining equality within religion becomes quite apparent, one of the contributing factors could be the consistency of the judiciary in upholding the constitutional rights granted to women. Specifically, the Supreme Court, with its judgements and progressive interpretations of religious laws, has aided the women in their struggle. Since the questioning of patriarchal control of religious structures is happening almost parallelly across all major religions in India, it can also be theorised that there is a rising feministic consciousness that underpins the quest for religious equality and equal treatment.

This article analyzes the idea of women’s equality in the perspective of human rights. Starting from the definitional formulation of human rights, through the inclusion of women’s rights to human rights, the legal and social aspects of equality has been indicated and human rights, in the context of the socio-political situation of women in Poland, has been presented. The main research question is whether women’s equality is achieved and to what extent. Are we talking about a practical dimension (implemented) or only a declarative one? To answer this key question, the programs of political groups in Poland and their equality policy were subjected to a comparative analysis. For the purpose of the research, the programs of those groups that obtained parliamentary mandates in the 2019 elections, i.e., Law and Justice, Civic Coalition, and Polish People’s Party, were analysed.

In this paper a completely elementary method of generating the trigonometric equalities and identities is presented. Among them, the equalities connected with roots of Perrin’s polynomial and the generalizations of known Ramanujan’s equalities are proven.

Social and cultural factors can lead to gender-biased expectations in physical therapy (PT) career. In Saudi Arabia, female physical therapists might be undergoing more cultural competencies than males to develop their career. This study aimed to investigate whether there are differences between men and women physical therapists (PTs) in their career expectations in Saudi Arabia. We tested 496 responses 192 (38.7%) were males and 307 (61.3%) were females. 325 (65.5%) responses were obtained from students including those in the internship year while the rest of the responses 171 (34.5%) were from graduated PTs. A descriptive cross-sectional study was undertaken using a questionnaire sent electronically to PT students and graduates in Ha’il City, Saudi Arabia. The answers to questions regarding the future career expectation and the perception of PT career among other healthcare professions were analyzed. Statistically higher female numbers were expected to conduct research activity, become faculty teaching staff, continue their education, and attend special courses. No sex-related differences were found regarding the expectation to occupy a governmental job, own a private business and participate as an active member of the Saudi Physical Therapy Association. A higher proportion of females see that PT practice is as independent and prestigious as other medical and health specialties. Both genders considered PT is an prestigious as other heakth professions. There are sex-related differences in PT career expectations and the perception of PT career compared to other healthcare professions.

Na tym tle przypomniany zostaje - w zarysie - walor równości i tożsamości proponowany w chrześcijańskiej antropologii.
The article concerns the moral and pedagogical aspect of the ideology of gender. The theory of gender promotes itself as a descriptive study on the cultural gender roles, and also as a project of education equality. Therefore it is making a radical criticism of current educational proposals, pointing to their character of the training of the submissiveness. The article in the considerable part is polemisizing with, pointing to the essential elements of the proposal for gender education. Its crux is the proposition of equality, which is done at the expense of total questioning and denying the identity. Against this background it is recalled – in the outline - value of equality and identity proposed in Christian anthropology.

A Roman dominating function (RDF) on a graph G= (V, E) is a function ƒ : V → {0, 1, 2} satisfying the condition that every vertex u for which ƒ(u) = 0 is adjacent to at least one vertex v for which ƒ(v)=2. The weight of an RDF is the value [formula]. An RDF ƒ in a graph G is independent if no two vertices assigned positive values are adjacent. The Roman domination number ΥR (G) (respectively, the independent Roman domination number ΥR(G) is the minimum weight of an RDF (respectively, independent RDF) on G. We say that ΥR(G) strongly equals iR(G), denoted by ΥR(G) ≡ iR(G), if every RDF on G of minimum weight is independent. In this note we characterize all unicyclic graphs G with ΥR(G) ≡ iR(G).

The main influence comes from biotechnologies and information science which modify the definition of nature. This article focuses on Rousseau’s discourses of nature understood as moral and gendered bases of social order. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the effects of Article 113 of the Albanian Criminal Code on women. This article appears to be gender neutral, but it’s enforcement affects women disproportionately and face them with forms of indirect gender discrimination. Through monitoring of Tirana Judicial District Court’s decisions, with object article 113 of the ACC, “Prostitution”, for a four year period from 2010 through 2013 and interviews with women who have exercised prostitution, there are brought in attention the profiles of the individuals who exercise prostitution and also social aspects of this phenomena. The hypothesis raised in this paper is that the profile of an individual who exercises prostitution is a vulnerable woman, with low education, unemployed, with low income, who is faced with family and social problems. This paper analyses the relation between the social aspects and legal dynamics of article 113 of ACC. The changes of 2012 introduced in the article 113 of the ACC brought sanctions for persons who buy the service of prostitution reflecting the process of social changes and understanding of gender equality. The issue of the next steps to address this phenomenon is analysed in this article too.

The aim of the article is to assess substantive rightness and consistency with EU law of the Proposal for a Directive on improving the gender balance among non‑executive directors (members of supervisory boards) of companies listed on stock exchanges. The article explains the reasons for under‑representation of women in supervisory boards of companies (corporations). It focuses on a formal analysis of the proposed binding acts of the European Union. The assessment is performed in the context of the principles of private law and conformity with EU legal standards, particularly the principles of proportionality and subsidiarity. The author proves that the proposal is not consistent with the subsidiarity principle, as the proposed action is not necessary and its objectives can be achieved by other means.

Opis:

The article aims to describe and analyse the opinions of European physicists as to the reasons for the overrepresentation of men in the discipline, as well as to supply some reflections on the barriers encountered by female physicists in their careers. The article is based on qualitative data – 83 in-depth interviews with female and male physicists – collected in 2016 and 2017 under the framework of the project “Gender Equality Network in European Research Area” (GENERA). The main reasons voiced by interviewees for the gender imbalance in physics are to be found ‘outside’ the scientific institutions themselves, namely the early processes of the socialisation of girls and boys, together with existing gender stereotypes. Other reasons are related to recent developments in academia linked to work organization and structural conditions – precariousness, competitiveness, and the demand for mobility, but also to a masculinised working culture resulting in gender bias, as well as microaggressions and discrimination. In relation to recent studies showing that awareness of gender (in)equalities remains of crucial importance for structural/institutional change, the article reflects on the potential implications of the perception by physicists of the determinants of gender inequality for the implementation of gender equality policy in research organisations.
Celem artykułu jest analiza opinii i refleksji fizyków pracujących w europejskich instytucjach badawczych dotyczących przyczyn nadreprezentacji mężczyzn w tej dyscyplinie oraz barier, jakich doświadczają kobiety realizujące karierę naukową w fizyce. Artykuł opiera się na danych jakościowych pochodzących z 83 indywidualnych wywiadów pogłębionych, zebranych w latach 2016-2017 w ramach projektu „Gender Equality Network in European Research Area” (GENERA). Główne powody nierówności liczebnej kobiet i mężczyzn w fizyce, podawane w wywiadach, sytuowane są poza samymi instytucjami naukowymi – wskazuje się na proces socjalizacji dziewczynek i chłopców oraz istniejące stereotypy płciowe jako główne przyczyny nierówności. Inne powody dotyczą niedawnych przeobrażeń w obrębie akademii odnoszących organizacji pracy i strukturalnych uwarunkowań – wśród nich wymieniane są takie zjawiska jak prekaryzacja pracy, konkurencyjność, wymóg mobilności. Dodatkowo uczestnicy i uczestniczki badań podkreślali rolę zmaskulinizowanej kultury pracy, przyczyniającej się do występowania uprzedzeń ze względu na płeć, mikroagresji czy dyskryminacji. W nawiązaniu do niedawnych studiów pokazujących, że świadomość (nie)równości płci pozostaje istotnym elementem w dążeniu do implementacji strukturalnej i instytucjonalnej zmiany, artykuł wskazuje, w jaki sposób postrzeganie przez fizyków przyczyn nierówności płci może wpływać na realizację polityki równości płci w instytucjach badawczych.

Philosophical anthropology claims that every human being necessarily operates in specific communities. These communities must also be based on certain ethical principles. One of the principles forming this ethical foundation is the principle of social justice. The Polish Constitution of 1997 does not contain any legal definition of this principle and the doctrine has problems with defining it as well. In this connection, the Catholic Social Teaching, which combines the principle of social justice with human dignity, the common good, equality and solidarity, can be an important interpretative support.

In this article I will try to articulate that gender equality means also changing the patriarchal system. In my opinion, family changes in the last decades contributed to defense and development of women’s rights. Family changes and family varies from one society to the other. Anywhere and at any time in the history of human societies, kinship systems and family systems have evolved and continue to do so. But European societies today are torn between two contradictory trends, on the one hand we can observe the extension of social relationship in the case of blended families, and on the other hand the continuing reference to a genealogical, therefore biological relationship, because adoption in Europe and the United States still refers to the model of a fictitious family lineage. It displaces real family lineage of birth parents which legally disappear.

Subject and purpose work: The study analysed the role of women in the development of the rural areas of the municipality of Skenderaj and its agriculture. Despite the fact that the women in agriculture in this municipality are highly influential and contribute to its economic development, gender equality in the area is not at the desired level. Materials and methods: The study is based on primary and secondary sources and it aims to describe the state of the women’s rural society in the municipality of Skenderaj and the women’s role in decisionmaking at the local and national levels. Results: The results of this study show that in the Government of the Republic of Kosovo gives priority to women farmers in its agricultural policies. The support could be seen as the offer of good employment opportunities since women are the most vulnerable part of society in Kosovo. Furthermore, the support given to the women engaged in agriculture will help the agricultural sector to improve productivity, efficiency, and efficacy through a better and faster connection of producers with the market. It will also help to promote a new way of monitoring and ensuring thar agricultural products are in compliance with the set standards. Conclusions: The study confirms that the women in the municipality of Skendraj make substantial contributions to agriculture and rural enterprises. There is a wide diversity in women roles and any overgeneralisation undermines the importance and planning of policies.

The aim of the article is to present a discussion on language on the portal Feminoteka.pl. This non- academic debate, led by average language speakers, is being analysed through the category of verbal hygiene, which refers to popular, egalitarian and everyday speech. The strategies used by feminists reveal their attempts to transform the style of communication in Poland. They promote discourse of equality, a form of social interaction that uses both argumentation (in a rhetorical sense) and communication practices (in a normative sense) to favour feminist notions.

Opis:

The 20th century is sometimes called the „century of women.” Feminism of the second wave, preceded by the involvement of suffragists and their effective fight for political rights, accelerated the process of shaping women’s self-consciousness. However, this process started much earlier. The 19th century protests of emancipated women had been preceded by a hundred-year history of women’s rebellions. Although their motivation at the stage of contestations in the 17th and 18th centuries was primarily economic and political, and they only supported men’s activity, still the reflection on the inadequacy of social contribution of women and their actual participation was born. This article is therefore devoted to these timid beginnings of the revived awareness of equality, expressed in various forms of rebellion and protest.
XX wiek bywa nazywany „stuleciem kobiet”. Feminizm drugiej fali, poprzedzony zaangażowaniem sufrażystek i ich skuteczną walką o prawa polityczne, doprowadził do przyspieszenia procesu kształtowania samoświadomości kobiet. Wszelako proces ten rozpoczął się znacznie wcześniej. Dziewiętnastowieczne protesty emancypantek poprzedzała stuletnia historia buntów kobiet. Wprawdzie ich motywacja na etapie siedemnasto- i osiemnastowiecznych kontestacji miała przede wszystkim charakter ekonomiczny i polityczny, a działania te były wspomagające względem aktywności mężczyzn, lecz rodziła się już wówczas refleksja nad nieekwiwalentnością społecznego wkładu kobiet i ich rzeczywistej partycypacji. Niniejszy artykuł jest zatem poświęcony owym nieśmiałym początkom odradzającej się świadomości równościowej, wyrażanej w różnych formach buntu i protestu.

A Roman dominating function (RDF) on a graph $G = (V,E)$ is a function $ f : V \rightarrow {0, 1, 2} $ satisfying the condition that every vertex $ u $ for which $ f(u) = 0 $ is adjacent to at least one vertex $v$ for which $f(v) = 2$. The weight of an RDF is the value $ f(V (G)) = \Sigma_{u \in V (G) } f(u) $. An RDF $f$ in a graph $G$ is independent if no two vertices assigned positive values are adjacent. The Roman domination number $ \gamma_R (G) $ (respectively, the independent Roman domination number $ i_R(G) $) is the minimum weight of an RDF (respectively, independent RDF) on $G$. We say that $ \gamma_R(G)$ strongly equals $ i_R(G)$, denoted by $ \gamma_R (G) \equiv i_R(G)$, if every RDF on $G$ of minimum weight is independent. In this paper we provide a constructive characterization of trees $T$ with $ \gamma_R(T) \equiv i_R(T) $.

Opis:

The endemic nature of insecurity in Africa stands out as one which is disastrous, thereby making African a shadow of itself. This study examines defense security and sustainable development in emerging democracies of Sub-Saharan Africa. Methodologically, Crosssectional descriptive survey design was adopted in the study, while primary and secondary sources of data were relied upon, interview and focus group discussion (FGD) were used as primary instruments of data collections. The social contract theory is adopted as the framework of analysis. Finding of this study revealed that bad governance has perpetuated class antagonism which breeds dissatisfaction amongst people in a bid to seek equality and justice in the distribution of power and economic resources. This process conceives conflict and the result for which many take to demand for rights which are unmet, hence unleashed terror to secure inalienable rights, access to power and economy. An analysis on Sustainable Development in this study, does reveal that denial and lack of access and opportunities are fundamental premises under which devastations of an economy can ensue and hence the entrenchment of the reign of terror. This process, as applicable in Africa, did also permeate the preponderance of reserved armies of unemployed under the guise of mendicant friars that further heightened the predominance of the terrorist regime in Africa amidst destruction of lives and economy. A way out of this is to create mechanism to open up more equitable access to power and economic opportunities which could lead to full capacity utilization of people’s potentials and subsequently empower them with incomes and improved living conditions. This requires both commitment and diplomacy of the government and to undertake under the banner of collective responsibility and good governance.

The analysis of women’s participation in elections has long been an important theme within political studies. Scholars have looked at factors that affect women’s participation in politics in general, as well as their decisions to run in parliamentary or regional elections. In 2011, as the second Central and Eastern Europe country (the first being Slovenia), Poland introduced gender quotas into the proportional electoral system. Researchers looking into the consequences of such systemic solutions in various countries have established that the intended goal of increasing the proportion of women in legislative bodies has not always been achieved. In fact, the outcomes have varied widely. Such discrepancies invite further examination. The presented study focuses on regional assembly elections in Poland between 2010 and 2018. The article elaborates on and complements the results of the authors’ prior work on the 2010 and 2014 elections. The research looks at how effective women were in winning the available mandates, what were their placements and which parties managed to get most women into the assemblies.

Opis:

Finland is at the top in different rankings concerning education. In March 2018 the author of the article had a chance to participate in "Benchmarking Finnish Education System" course in Helsinki and observe and analyze Finnish best practices. In the article, the author tries to describe what she discovered about the educational success of Finnish school and answered the question whether it is possible to apply these elements to Polish educational reality. Writing the article, the author used the materials distributed during the course, either by the organizer or his guests. While quoting statistics, the author mainly referred to online sources, as they are usually regularly updated. The conclusions drawn are the results of the author's observations, as well as the analysis of the reference sources. The author discovered that the critical factors in Finnish educational success are: student and teacher's autonomy, free access to education, equality, no dead ends, and tailor-made school curricula. In the final part of the article, the author writes about the weaknesses of the Finnish system. In conclusion, the author wonders whether it is possible to integrate Finnish best practices into Polish schools.

In this study, all cases of femicide in Iceland over a thirty-year period were explored. A total of sixteen women and girls were killed during the years 1986-2015. Femicide was defined in this study as the murder of a woman by a partner, former partner, or because of passion. According to this definition, eleven femicide cases occurred during this time period. The data analyzed were court verdicts and news reports of the incidents. Qualitative methods were used for analysis. Interestingly, there was a different dynamic related to femicide cases, which included 1) sex femicide, 2) former partners and 3) current partners. Alcohol consumption and the willingness of the victim to end sex appear to be a dangerous mixture, judging from the results of the sexually-related femicide cases. Alcohol consumption was a factor in all current partner femicide cases in addition to low SES status; empathy was lacking, and patriarchal views were prominent in some of them. In former partner femicide cases, jealousy and possessiveness were major themes, but not alcohol consumption. It is important to study such dynamics and contextual factors in greater detail in larger studies.

Opis:

South Korea is a country where gender inequality has been observed from the past to the present. Many studies point out that gender inequality in Korean society is a consequence of Confucianism which still exists in the social norms, structure and hierarchy of society and the mentality of contemporary Korean people. It causes that gender inequality remains strong not only in the job market but also in the gender division of homework and care work issues, particularly in the sphere of family life. The main object of this paper is to investigate the possibility of making marital relationships equal while women are economically active. To achieve the paper’s main goal, the statistical analysis was carried out with logistic regression on data from the Korean Longitudinal Survey on Women and Families in 2012 and 2020. The results indicated that despite the significant social and economic changes in Korean society, women’s activity in the job market did not introduce a significant change in the division of household duties among men and women, which shows women’s involvement in economic support of the family it does not make any significant changes to the aspect of equality in the relationship.

The purpose of this article is to describe the phenomenon of the digital crowd, which is a phenomenon specific to the functioning of political debate on the Internet (with particular emphasis on social media). Celem artykułu jest opisanie zjawiska cyfrowego tłumu, specyficznego dla funkcjonowania debaty politycznej w Internecie (ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem mediów społecznościowych). Odnosząc się do koncepcji G. Le Bona i R. Girarda, przedstawia sposób zachowania się cyfrowego tłumu i jego znaczenie dla rozwoju debaty publicznej w obszarze komunikacji masowej, jakim jest Internet.

The publication deals with the description of attitudes towards the democratic principles of equality and freedom among students. The survey was conducted four times in five-year time intervals (2003, 2008, 2013, 2018). Samples had 325, 379, 368, and 371 respondents respectively. The author speculated that the advancement of the transformation is accompanied by growth of the acceptance of pro-democratic attitudes among students, namely the wider acceptance of the principles of equality and freedom. The attitudes were diagnosed using nine pairs of statements (these include both original statements and statements adopted from literature). The hypothesis was not confirmed. The acceptance of the principles of equality and freedom has not increased in consecutive surveys and for many statements the acceptance has decreased.

Hasło sprawiedliwości społecznej różnie w historii było rozumiane; bywało podstawą przemian – w szerokim sensie tego słowa – demokratycznych, ale też okazywało się propagandowym „chwytem” i wstępem do tyranii. Platon był bodaj pierwszy, który w swojej opisowej koncepcji ewolucji ustrojów zwrócił uwagę na to, że demokracja – kiedy wątek „redystrybucji dóbr” w imię egalitaryzmu i zrównania wychodzi na plan pierwszy – niejako spontanicznie zamienia się w tyranię. Próbował temu zapobiec Arystoteles w swojej koncepcji politei. Chciałbym się zastanowić (w ogromnym, rzecz jasna, skrócie), na ile te koncepcje „sprawdzały się w historii” i są obecnie aktualne. Chciałbym też – na zakończenie – zaprezentować trzy modele „sprawiedliwości społecznej”: hierarchiczny (starożytny), oparty na równym kryterium (nowożytny, liberalny) oraz egalitarystyczny (utopijny, zrównujący), będący ideologią prowadzącą do scentralizowanej, arbitralnej, a nawet tyrańskiej władzy.
The slogan of “social justice” was variously understood in history; it was the basis of changes – in the broad sense of the word – democratic, but it also turned out to be a propaganda “catch” and an introduction to tyranny. Plato was perhaps the first who pointed out that democracy – when the theme of “redistribution of goods” and egalitarianism comes to the forefront – spontaneously turns into tyranny. Aristotle, in his policy concept (politeia), tried to prevent it. I would like to consider (in a nutshell) how these concepts “worked in history” and are currently valid. Finally, I would like to present three models of “social justice”: hierarchical (ancient), based on an equal criterion (modern, liberal) and egalitarian (utopian, leveling), which is an ideology leading to centralized, arbitrary and even tyrannical power.

Artykuł stanowi próbę zdefiniowania równości w zatrudnieniu – pojęcia, które w ocenie autora nie zostało zdefiniowane w zadowalający sposób. W rozważaniach nad nim został wykorzystany dorobek nie tylko nauk prawnych, ale także filozofii społecznej. Wnioski wynikające z filozoficznych badań nad równością wskazują bowiem na kierunek rozważań prawnych. Można bowiem dostrzec, że prawne ujęcie równości odnosi się do koncepcji znanych filozofii społecznej. W artykule dokonano analizy sposobu wyrażenia równości w aktach prawa międzynarodowego, unijnego oraz polskiego, odnoszących się w szczególności do kwestii zatrudnienia. Na podstawie tych rozważań zaproponowana została definicja tego pojęcia.
The article is an attempt to define equality in employment – a concept which, in the author’s opinion, has not been defined in a satisfactory manner. In consideration of it, the achievements of not only legal sciences, but also social philosophy have been used. The conclusions of the philosophical research on equality point in the direction of legal considerations. It can be noticed that the legal approach to equality refers to the concepts known to social philosophies. The article analyses the way in which equality is expressed in international, EU and Polish legal acts, referring in particular to employment issues. On the basis of these considerations, a definition of this concept is proposed.

The article aims at evaluating the capabilities of local government as a partner of women’s and emancipation movements in Poland in promoting social changes in favour of greater equality. The paper employs theoretical framework of state feminism and gender equality politics. It is based on the research findings concerning the extent to which local government administration embraees the idea of equal treatment. The article consists of fours parts. The first one conceptualizes state with the reference to the present claims of emancipation movements in Poland and legal framework. The second part defines Polish gender studies’ achievements related to the topic. It also sets the theoretical background for the empirical research presented in the third part. The last section discusses the findings in the context of current challenges faced by social movements fighting discrimination and exclusion in Poland.

The EU agencies were set up to provide expertise and - by delivering legal, technical or scientific back-up - help the EU institutions make the right decisions. The purpose of the article is to find out what kind of role plays one of the EU agencies (European Institute for Gender Equality) in relation to the idea of equal treatment. It presents both: the origins and context of the functioning of EIGE, as well as its areas of current activity, showing concrete results of its actions (in particular the reports and databases), which can significantly support the EU and Member States to achieve real gender equality dimension.

Opis:

Równość płci jest ważnym aspektem dobrego funkcjonowania rodziny. Wyraża się w równości w zakresie podziału obowiązków, podejmowania decyzji związanych z organizacją życia rodzinnego, równego traktowania synów i córek itp. Celem badania była ocena, w jakim stopniu imigracja modyfi kuje spostrzeganie równości płci w rodzinie. W badaniu uczestniczyło 196 osób (100 Wietnamczyków mieszkających w Wietnamie i 96 mieszkających w Polsce), które wypełniały kwestionariusz opracowany na potrzeby badania. Dodatkowo 15 osób, które zawarły związki małżeńskie z Polakami, uczestniczyło w pogłębionym wywiadzie. Analizowano dwa typy relacji rodzinnych: pomiędzy małżonkami oraz pomiędzy rodzicami i dziećmi. Uzyskane rezultaty wskazują na akceptowanie równości kobiet i mężczyzn pod względem ekonomicznym, skoro oboje partnerzy pracują poza domem oraz zarabiają pieniądze. Choć badani otwarcie akceptowali równość synów i córek, to w szczególnych sytuacjach wyrażali wolę posiadania syna. Obie grupy Wietnamczyków – mieszkających w Wietnamie i w Polsce – wykazały wiele podobieństw w zakresie swoich poglądów dotyczących równości płci.
Gender equality is an important aspect of a happy family. It is expressed in equality of tasks sharing, decisions related to organization of family life, equal treatment of daughters and sons etc. The main aim of the study was to look at the eff ect of immigration on the perception of gender equality. Respondents of this study were 196 Vietnamese living in Vietnam (100 persons) and Poland (96 persons). Methods of the study included: the purposely designed questionnaire administered to all participants and the in-depth interview conducted with 15 Vietnamese who got married to Poles. Two types of family relations are the main focus of the paper: a relation between spouses and between parents and off spring. The results indicate equality of husbands and wives in work and economic aspects, as both work outside the house and contribute fi nancially. Although participants overtly confi rmed the equality of children of both sexes, but in particular situations they still expressed some preference for sons. Such pattern of results is confi rmed in both groups of participants.

This article focuses on the issue of equality of elections, in the context of the 2014 European Parliament election in Poland. Most often the definition of principles of elections’ equality comes down to emphasizing its two aspects: the formal one and the material one. The first of them refers to guaranteeing each person with the active voting right the same number of votes. The material aspect of the equality principle is connected with striving to guarantee the same “voting power” to the election participants. Most briefly, it means that a given number of people elect as many representatives as another group with the same numerical strength. The main aim of this article is focus on the material aspect of implementing the principle of equality in EP elections. In the article will be emphasized three issues decisive for the specific features of the electoral system (electoral districts, election threshold and electoral formula), at the same time influencing the range of implementation of the material equality of elections. General findings will be confronted with empirical data, which will allow to formulate conclusions about the degree to which the European Parliament election conducted in Poland on 25th May 2014 met the principle of material equality.

As the embodiment of civil society in Europe, the role of the EESC is to promote participatory democracy and the values upon which European integration is founded. Fertility decline in developed countries over recent five decades and persisting low fertility in the remarkable number of countries are increasingly attributed to changing gender roles, particularly to incompatibilities between institutional adjustments of individual- and family- oriented institutions as well as within the family and changing perceptions on social roles of women and men. These arguments are voiced also when debating on low fertility in Poland. The article focuses on perceptions of gender roles and their diversity across population groups which differ by socio-demographic attributes. Additionally, possible influences of parental home on opinions about gender roles are accounted for. The data coming from the Generations and Gender Survey, carried out in Poland in 2010/2011, made it possible to define two synthetic variables which described attitudes towards gender equality in the social sphere and in the private sphere (a responsibility for a child). Descriptive results confirmed findings of other studies: the gender attitudes are more diversified among women than men, especially as regards gender equality in the social sphere, women show more egalitarian attitudes than men, and within an age increase a social approval for gender equality declines. The generalized linear mixed models of two synthetic gender variables were used to identify predictors of gender attitudes across two birth cohorts of women and men – those born either in the years 1950–1969 or in the years 1970–1989. Among individual characteristics education, religiosity and place of residence were found out – as expected – the main predictors of gender attitudes. Contrary to expectations, labour market status, marital status and a number of children did not always play a significant role for distinguished cohorts of men and women. Economic activity showed its impact on women’s gender attitudes only. There are also some signs that in the 1970–1989 cohorts younger people are less in favour of gender equality than those over 30 years of age. Parental home attributes (place of residence at age 15, mother’ education and mother’s economic acitivity, number of siblings, and religiosity) were displayed as relevant predictors of gender attitudes for both birth cohorts of men and women. However, paid work of a mother seemed to be a weaker predictor than expected.

Over 40 years ago the French Research Committee on Violence, Crime and Delinquency published a document that contained current analyses on the occurrence of social problems and their determinants, as well as guidelines to reduce risks and reduce the sense of threat and insecurity in modern society. The document became the basis for the reflection on public debate on violence in international communities and psychological practice against violence in both interpersonal and wider social relations. The combination of the individual and the social perspective gives a chance to criticise and rethink the guidelines suggested by the Committee from the point of view of such issues as community responsibility, individual rights and the current state in psychological and social care against violence. Special attention was paid to ten recommendations.

The dignity and equality mentioned in the title include a wide range of interdisciplinary considerations (based on the international, constitutional, civil or criminal law). This analysis focuses on their subjects (children) who – just like adults, regardless of their features of character or level of mental and physical development – are entitled to certain rights and liberties (human rights) whose source is none other than dignity. Is children’s dignity equal to that of adults? Based on the applicable legal regulations, it is; however, in practice, in the context of „certain actions” of various adults, it may not always be so. Several currently occurring „non-legal actions”, including criminal ones – diminishing children’s dignity and turning them into „objects” at the disposal of persons in control (parents, guardians, intermediaries) – have been presented. The study concentrates on the following three aspects: (i) direct influence on family legislation (by commercial use of genetic material); (ii) human trafficking (except adoption); and (iii) assessment of the recognition of children’s dignity in respect of custody (any attempts at appropriation, enslavement, violence or maltreatment whereby children become instruments of adults’ aspirations).

The purpose of this article is an attempt to show the development of Polish social work based on the works of Prof. Ryszard Borowicz. In the text were subjected to scientific reflections definitions and the main categories of research described by the author, which may be a starting point for the development of the theory and practice of social work (human dignity, work, equality and social justice, the auto-selection). The author devotes attention to questions of education and social work tasks facing contemporary social work. Text analysis R. Borowicz has allowed many findings. The main thing is that social work is transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary science that combines the traditions of different disciplines (especially sociology, pedagogy, social policy), the creation of social theory and practice should benefit from the experience of the world, but without forgetting the native and most importantly you need think about the future, and not focus on the present, because there will be more social problems and new needs that challenge for social work. Notably, many of the issues raised by the researcher is still valid and therefore worth reaching for his works and re-discover them.

Opis:

Liberalism and republicanism constitute two major concepts of civic participation, both in the historical and the socio-philosophical meaning. The first one is questioned because of its individualistic vision of citizenship leading to impairment of community ideas and values, responsibility and motivation to engage in actions promoting the common good and decay of social bonds. The republican pattern of civic participation is a correction of this concept, putting emphasis on the value and meaning of communal forms of social life as well as on civil education. The article characterizes and compares both patterns of civic involvement in socio-political life, emphasizing differences and simplifications occurring between particular orientations of both republican and liberal concepts. Moreover, the article aims at interpreting main ideas constituting the republican idea, such as: freedom, equality, community, common good and solidarity.

The publication deals with the description of attitudes towards the democratic principles of equality and freedom among students. The survey was conducted four times in five-year time intervals (2003, 2008, 2013, 2018). Samples had 325, 379, 368, and 371 respondents respectively. The author speculated that the advancement of the transformation is accompanied by growth of the acceptance of pro-democratic attitudes among students, namely the wider acceptance of the principles of equality and freedom. The attitudes were diagnosed using nine pairs of statements (these include both original statements and statements adopted from literature). The hypothesis was not confirmed. The acceptance of the principles of equality and freedom has not increased in consecutive surveys and for many statements the acceptance has decreased.

Revolution seen through the eyes of VendéeThis paper aims at reviewing a publication entitled "The Franco-French Genocide. Vendée – the Department of Vengeance" by Reynald Secher. The book touches on the issue of fights between the Republicans and peasants opposing the regime of the revolutionaries. This event’s history has been hushed up. Moreover, it has effectively been removed from the national narrative. Reynald Secher propagates the process of reminding us of those facts. In this review, information on the fights will be contrasted with theories presented by other historians in order to make the reader aware of the whole process’s complexity and of many persistent inaccuracies.Materials collected by the author will be subjected to our analysis. Due to the reconstruction of events by eye-witnesses, previously an underestimated but abundant source of knowledge, the author has learned the truth about the acts of the revolutionary heroes. In Secher's work, the accuracy with which he presents all the issues becomes equally important.Special attention should be paid to the very word “genocide” and its associations. Indeed, the work is not focused on carnage. Instead, it plays a part both as a reminder that carnage did take place, and a presentation of reasons for its occurrence. Rewolucja oczami WandeiNiniejsza praca ma na celu zrecenzowanie publikacji „Ludobójstwo francusko-francuskie. Wandea - Departament Zemsty” Reynalda Sechera. Książka dotyczy walk między republikanami oraz chłopami sprzeciwiającymi się rządom rewolucjonistów. Historia o tym zdarzeniu została wyciszona i skutecznie usunięta z narracji narodowej. Reynald Secher propaguje proces „odpamiętnienie” tamtejszych wydarzeń. W niniejszej recenzji informacje na temat walk zostaną skontrastowane z teoriami prezentowanymi przez innych historyków, aby uświadomić czytelnikowi złożoność całego procesu oraz o wielu wciąż istniejących nieścisłościach.Analizie poddane zostaną zebrane przez autora materiały. Dzięki rekonstrukcji zdarzeń oczami bezpośrednich świadków wydarzeń, będącymi dotąd niedocenioną skarbnicą wiedzy, autor poznał prawdę o czynach bohaterów rewolucji. W pracy Sechera równie ważna staje się szczegółowość, z jaką przedstawia wszystkie elementy.Szczególną uwagę należy przyłożyć do samego słowa „ludobójstwo” i konotacji z nim związanych. Sednem pracy nie jest bowiem przedstawienie rzezi, ale przypomnienie, że miała ona miejsce i zaprezentowanie powodów jej zaistnienia.

Since the fall of their socialist centralized systems, the countries of Central and Eastern Europe have experienced considerable changes to their socioeconomic policies. The Republic of Albania has encountered several noteworthy challenges since 1992, and initially, eradicating gender inequality was not given much emphasis. Gender equality is an essential element that needs to be incorporated into the legal frameworks of all candidate countries aspiring to join the EU, in addition to being a fundamental right and a shared vision of EU institutions. In developing nations, social exclusion can be either active or passive. Because females are excluded from many facets of society, such as the workforce, education, access to the legal system, the realization of their property rights, and so forth, women's demands and interests are frequently disregarded. Following the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), the Republic of Albania has developed a number of laws, policies, and action plans pertaining to gender equality, in addition to measures addressing issues such as human trafficking, domestic abuse, closing the representational gap in politics and the economy, and other matters. This essay looks at Albania's methodology for evaluating European standards and, where necessary, adapts them to regional political and cultural norms. Ensuring that the body of legislation is in accord with the culture in which it functions is a better strategy to enforce laws than merely making models, rules, and regulations. This is a comprehensive effort to assess and contrast specific in pursuing full EU integration. This is an overall attempt to evaluate and compare some of the strategies and actions Albanian representatives and society have taken to address the gender factor in the democratization process and institution-building while pursuing full EU integration.

The political transformations of late 1980s and early 1990s marked a ‘new political opening’ for Central and Eastern Europe. In each country of the region, a new institutional order was built in its specific historical and cultural context. However, all countries disregarded the problem of gender balance in bodies of power. As a result, the share of women in descriptive representation shrunk considerably throughout the region. Initially, all countries had a low percentage of women at power but the situation began to diverge over time. This paper presents research findings from a study of women and men parliamentarians in Poland, Latvia and Macedonia, focussing on political representation and, in particular, on barriers which obstruct women’s more active involvement in the public sphere as well as actions, such as quotas, aimed to mainstream gender equality into politics. The problem of women’s participation in the legislature as well as barriers to women’s involvement turned out to bring in an interesting differentiation into gender equality discourses in the three countries under study.

Opis:

From feminist and critical point of view sport has been a sexist institution. Despite the women empowerment in sport they are still trivialized and marginalized. Research also shows that sport organizations may be exceptionally opposed to women, valuing hegemonic masculinity. Therefore the aim of this article is to check whether gender inequalities occur in Polish sports organizations and what is the scale of those inequalities in comparison to international and British organizations. The study used methods of examining official documents (information generated by other empirical data from official documents of the organisation). The sample consists of 17 Polish, 17 international and 17 British sports organisations. The results of research showed that in Polish sports organisations there are working less women than in the international and British organisations, there are also less women in committees and women committees (if they have been established). More women work in organisations which represent women-orientated sports disciplines.

Problem edukacji równościowej w zakresie dotyczącym równości kobiet i mężczyzn odgrywa coraz większą rolę. W aktach normatywnych i dokumentach międzynarodowych coraz bardziej widoczna jest konieczność zapewnienia takiej edukacji. Kwestia ta również jest coraz bardziej „zawłaszczana” przez określone ruchy społeczne, które – w celu propagowania swojego programu – kładą duży nacisk na edukację społeczną. Tym samym edukacja taka ma charakter światopoglądowy. Analiza proponowanych przepisów prawa zdaje się potwierdzać tezę, że coraz większą rolę w sferze takiej edukacji odgrywa perspektywa gender (płeć społeczno-kulturowa). Jeszcze do niedawna stwierdzenie, że „współczesne systemy prawne – bez wyjątku – oparte są na dychotomicznym podziale ludzi na mężczyzn i kobiety, i z podziałem tym wiążą wiele ważnych konsekwencji”,  pozostawało aksjomatem. Obecnie jednak samo pojęcie płci zmienia się, a nowe jej koncepcje (właśnie płeć społeczno-kulturowa – gender) odgrywa coraz większą rolę w stosunkach społecznych, oddziałując także na system prawa.

In this article, I propose to use Søren Kierkegaard’s existential critique of the establishment — intellectual, social, and religious — in the name of common people to bring out the dialectic character of populism often overlooked or ignored in the present-day use of the concept. Although populism is generally viewed as negative, Kierkegaard can help us to see that notwithstanding the very real and dangerous threat that populism poses to liberal societies, it is not, from a liberal perspective, unequivocally negative. Populism is endemic to liberalism, and we should not — and cannot — simply try to suppress or eradicate populism from our agendas. Instead, we have to see how populism dialectically reveals serious problems at the heart of contemporary liberalism. A Kierkegaardian approach to populism will allow me to bring out one of the most fundamental of these problems, namely the persistent inequality that permeates liberal democracies undermining the admittedly vague Enlightenment ideal of equality.

Gender equality is a cornerstone in the process of Albania’s integration into the European Union. Although gender equality terminology was once considered impossible, progressive steps have now been taken to increase female involvement at the top of public office, decision-making, and local government. The continuous political changes of our country have created a huge legal gap over the role of women in society. Political and economic reforms after the 1990s aimed to create an equitable system of benefits between women and men, concerning their freedoms and personal rights. It is very important to emphasize that gender equality policies have an impact on improving the welfare of society by creating a parity that aims to flourish in a modern state. Reforming the legal framework on gender equality policies in Albania is a challenge, but its implementation is a considerable legal treasure trove for human rights. The same treatment of both genders will lead to the national restructuring of the monetary and human resources which will be governed by the treaties ratified by our state in creating a very good legal guide to the implementation of European standards.

This article aims to analyze the state of gender equality in the Ukrainian economy and identify key issues. The article considers the indicators of gender equality, which are planned in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals. And also, the place of Ukraine in various country rankings on gender equality is analyzed. For comparison, data from other countries, including Poland. The main problems that prevent overcoming gender inequality in Ukraine are identified based on the study. Achieving gender equality is an important condition for sustainable development for any country. That is why Ukraine needs to develop and implement effective measures to address the imbalance between women and men, especially in the economic sphere. Using the potential of women will increase economic performance and promote socio-economic and environmental development. Further research will focus on the experiences of other countries that have better achieved gender equality. Based on these studies, recommendations for further action for Ukraine can be developed.

The article presents Didymus the Blind’s teaching on the Holy Spirit. It is to be noticed that continues and develops the principles of Saint Athanasius’ pneumatology. Didymus rejects the opinion of the tropiko… that the Holy Spirit belongs to the created beings. Didymus underlines that the Spirit is equal to the Son and the Father, and consequently He belongs to the Holy Trinity. The Spirit is holy, but He did not receive His holiness; He has wisdom, but he did not receive it from anybody; He knows everything without learning. There is no change in the nature of the Holy Spirit. Holiness and wisdom and other qualities belong to His nature. He possesses them eternally and He cannot lose them. The Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit possess the same substance within the Trinity, but their missions are different. The three Divine Persons operate together ad extra, i.e. outside of the Trinity for the salvation of the people.
Artykuł przedstawia nauczanie Dydyma Ślepego o Duchu Świętym. Daje się zauważyć, że kontynuuje on i rozwija główne punkty pneumatologii św. Atanazego. Dydym odrzuca opinie tropików jakoby Duch Święty należał do stworzenia i podkreśla, że jest On równy Ojcu i Synowi, i dlatego należy do Trójcy Świętej. Duch jest święty, ale nie otrzymał on świętości; posiada On wiedzę, ale jej nie otrzymał od nikogo, On wszystko wie, ale nie musiał niczego się uczyć. W naturze Ducha Świętego nie ma zmian. Świętość, wiedza i inne przymioty należą do Jego natury; On posiada je odwiecznie i nie może ich utracić. Ojciec, Syn i Duch Święty posiadają tę samą substancję w Trójcy Świętej, ale każda z Osób ma inną misję do spełnienia. Trzy Osoby Boskie działają wspólnie ad extra, czyli na zewnątrz Trójcy Świętej dla zbawienia ludzi.

Opis:

Changing gender roles are increasingly considered as a driving factor of both fertility decline in European countries and its recovery in some of these countries. The fertility decline is attributed to the first stage of the gender revolution when increasing women’s labour force participation is accompanied by some progress in gender equality in the public sphere while in the family life a gender asymmetry remains. During the second stage of the gender revolution the progress towards new roles of men and women in the private sphere takes place – they both are considered as economic providers and careers and share work and family responsibilities (e.g. McDonald 2000b, Goldscheider, Bernhardt, Lappegård 2015, Esping-Andersen, Billari 2015). The article compares on-going changes in gender roles in Poland and Norway, two countries which are at different stages of this process, and their interplay with fertility (mean number of children and intensions about the second and third child). Attitudes towards gender equality are studied by taking into account views on this issue on one side and sharing care and housework on the other. Data come from the first round of the Generations and Gender Survey. The study has been performed for respondents aged 20–44, living together with a partner and children under 14 years of age. The descriptive analyses showed that Poles are not only less advanced in gender role changes in two gender dimensions studied: their views on gender roles are more traditional than Norwegian ones, women’s share in family duties is higher contrary to men who contribute less to family responsibilities than women and men in Norway. There is also a higher variation of views and practices among Poles. In Poland and Norway, egalitarian men participate more in family duties than those who declare traditional views, while egalitarian women are less burdened by home work and care. However, in Norway there is remarkably more egalitarian women with low and medium share of domestic duties in parallel to more numerous egalitarian men who take a great share of family responsibilities. More egalitarian respondents have fewer children than the traditional ones in both countries. However, the mean number of children among this group of respondents in Norway is higher than in Poland. Moreover, women in both countries are less inclined to declare intensions to have a second or third child when they participate more in care and domestic duties. This relationship has been found for men in Norway as well.

Opis:

The article explores the alternative strategies adopted by the lowest caste groups known by the generic term dalits to improve their social status in India. The mapping of various strategies has been done by taking into consideration the four historical stages, namely, medieval period, renaissance, postcolonial modernity and postmodernity. It has been argued that in these stages different strategies were employed by the dalits. It is in the postmodern state that the dalit discourse of equality has shifted its emphasis from inclusion and equality to exclusivity and difference. There are two predominant dalit discourses, each complimenting the other, in contemporary India. The first is the use of democratic means to claim power at the formal level by creating a distinct voter-constituency through the articulation of dalit identity. The second is a strong articulation of the exclusiveness of the dalit experience. The argument is that the dalit experience cannot be comprehended by non-dalits as a result of which only dalit can theorise his experience.

Starting from the mid-nineteenth century, along with technological progress and the pursuit of equality between women and men, the processes of feminization of the press market has intensified. The issue of gender equality and the separation of powers in the media sector is closely related to the activity of women in the public sphere. These days, despite the apparent equality in the media of mass communication, the participation of women in the key decision-making processes in the media, or their presence on the boards of media companies, remains lower than in the case of men. This paper deals with the concept of ”the fourth power”, relating it to the contemporary journalistic activity of women. The article spotlights the diverse dimensions of women’s activities in the media and their real impact on the audience. In conclusion, the need for equal participation of women and men in media communication processes was accentuated.
Począwszy od połowy XIX wieku, wraz z postępem technicznym i dążeniem do równouprawnienia kobiet i mężczyzn, nasilały się procesy feminizacji rynku prasowego. Zagadnienie równości płci i podziału władzy w sektorze mediów pozostaje w ścisłej relacji z aktywnością kobiet w przestrzeni publicznej. Współcześnie, mimo pozornej równości w środkach masowego komunikowania, udział kobiet w procesach podejmowania kluczowych decyzji w mediach, czy ich obecność w zarządach spółek medialnych pozostają niższe niż w przypadku mężczyzn. W tekście poruszono problematykę pojęcia „czwartej władzy”, odnosząc je do współczesnej aktywności dziennikarskiej kobiet. W artykule zwrócono uwagę na zróżnicowane wymiary działań kobiet w mediach i ich realny wpływ na odbiorców. W podsumowaniu podkreślono potrzebę równego udziału kobiet i mężczyzn w procesach komunikacji medialnej.

Opis:

The equal access of women and men to goods and economic services plays an important role in achieving gender equality and empowerment of women. Gender equality, in the distribution of economic and financial resources, encompasses a multiple positive effect on the fulfillment of the key priorities to increase welfare and the living standard in the society. It contributes to the consolidation of the women’s rights by enabling them to initially manage and control their own life and consequently influence on the society. Removing gender bias in the economic level affects not only the improvement of the women’s own situation, but also the growth of the children’ s welfare and that of the other family members, considering that women spend a part of their time and costs for the later.

Opis:

Currently, there is a large disparity between the proportion of women who are employed and well educated and those who sit on corporate boards in the EU. This poses a great challenge for the EU and its Member States. This disparity should be significantly reduced because it is mandated by the EU fundamental right of equality between women and men (Article 23 of the Charter) and by the need for democratic legitimisation of the EU and of its economic governance (Articles 2 and 3(3) TEU). The proposal for a directive on gender equality on boards of listed companies is a legislative solution that should be further developed and improved.

Opis:

The aim of this work is to establish to what extent discrepancies of substantive misdemeanour law (relating to criminal law), which stem from simplification of responsibility rules, impact the position of victim. There are no general rules and principles relating to formation of the position of victim in either criminal law or misdemeanour law. Only by analysing particular regulations of the both respective codes allows one to reconstruct the status of victim and confronting it on the plain of the two responsibility regimes in question. The said confrontation reveals far-reaching differences within the scope of victim’s position in substantive regulations of misdemeanour law, some of which weaken the victim’s position, while other – strengthen it. Although those differences vary to their weight, yet it seems that regulations restricting the presence of the figure of victim are more significant – they genuinely decrease the competence of a person to whom the harm was made. Amongst the said regulations, first and foremost, have to be counted those that relate to possibility of ruling compensatory penal measures, as well as regulations defining the periods of limitation (aside from other discussed regulations). The assumed dual model of responsibility within this scope, in some cases, compromises the principle of equality before the law enshrined in Article 32 paragraph 1 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland.

Celem artykułu jest zarysowanie problemu nierówności płci w programach informacyjnych. Osią tekstu są wyniki badań własnych przeprowadzone wśród dziennikarzy nad przyczynami niskiej reprezentacji kobiet wśród gości w programach i materiałach przygotowywanych przez dziennikarzy informacyjnych. Wśród wniosków wskazano na przyczyny społeczno-kulturowe (5 przyczyn) oraz przyczyny organizacyjno-formalne (2 przyczyny). Wskazano też przykłady rozwiązań zmierzających do zwiększenia udziału kobiet w programach informacyjnych.
The study aims to outline the problem of gender inequality in news programs. The text is based on the research conducted among journalists about the lowered representation of women among guests in programs prepared by news journalists. Socio-cultural reasons (5 reasons) and organizational and formal reasons (2 reasons) were indicated among the conclusions. The aim of this paper is also to present examples of solutions aimed at increasing the participation of women in news programs.

The emergence and growth of the internet and social media platforms have engendered significant transformations in everyday life, affecting not only society’s most innermost life but also its structural organization. This digital realm impacts gender equality, giving rise to spaces for feminist community building and activism, but at the same time enabling online gender harassment and violence. Our aim was to construct possible scenarios of the future, focusing on foreseeable consequences of social media on gender (in)equality in Europe. Using the Delphi+ method, we generated diverse future scenarios envisioning the intersection of gender and social media platforms. Through an analysis of these scenarios, we identified three recurring themes situated on a continuum from utopian to dystopian perspectives, including various positions in relation to the question of social media as safe or unsafe spaces. This study then provides us with possible imaginaries in relation to gender and social media platforms.

As diversity, equity and inclusion policies gain momentum in the Global North, the strikingly low visibility of women in Polish public space is being addressed not only via bottom-to-top activism but also through initiatives by local governments. This, in turn, results in controversies over the very need for gender equality in urban naming, as well as over the commemoration-worthiness of particular personages. The present paper aims to assess the changes that have taken place in Poland since the beginning of 2018, when an analysis of the 12 biggest cities revealed a persistent under-representation of women as namesakes in street naming. We offer a quantitative analysis and then focus on four selected case studies, each exemplifying one type of situation: open conflict, covert tactics, and two combinations of surface vs core values relationship.
