Opis:
The paper reports the design and tests of the planar autopilot navigation system in the three-degree-of-freedom (3-DOF) plane (surge, sway and yaw) for a ship. The aim of the tests was to check the improved maneuverability of the ship in open waters using the improved nonlinear control algorithm, developed based on the sliding mode control theory for the ship-trajectory tracking problem of under-actuated ships with static constraints, actuator saturation, and parametric uncertainties. With the integration of the simple increment feedback control law, the dynamic control strategy was developed to fulfill the under-actuated tracking and stabilization objectives. In addition, the LOS (line of sight) guidance system was applied to control the motion path, whereas the sliding mode controller was used to emulate the rudder angle and propeller rotational speed control. Firstly, simulation tests were performed to verify the validity of the basic model and the tracking control algorithm. Subsequently, full scale maneuverability tests were done with a novel container ship, equipped with trajectory tracking control and sliding mode controller algorithm, to check the dynamic stability performance of the ship. The results of the theoretical and numerical simulation on a training ship verify the invariability and excellent robustness of the proposed controller, which: effectively eliminates system chattering, solves the problem of lateral drift of the ship, and maintains the following of the trajectory while simultaneously achieving global stability and robustness.

This paper focuses on trajectory tracking control for ro‐ bot manipulators. While much research has been done on this issue, many other aspects of this field have not been fully addressed. Here, we present a new solution using feedforward controller to eliminate parametric uncer‐ tainties and unknown disturbances. The Takagi‐Sugeno fuzzy descriptor system (TSFDS) is chosen to describe the dynamic characteristics of the robot. The combination of this fuzzy system and the robust H∞ performance makes the system almost isolated from external factors. The li‐ near matrix inequalities based on the theory of Lyapunov stability is considered for control design. The proposed method has proven its effectiveness through simulation results.

Opis:
The paper presents a sequential neural network (NN) identification scheme for the four-wheeled mobile robot subject to wheel slip. The sequential identification scheme, different from conventional methods of optimization of a cost function, attempts to ensure stability of the overall system while the neural network learns the nonlinearities of the mobile robot. An on-line weight learning algorithm is developed to adjust the weights so that the identified model can adapt to variations of the characteristics and operating points in the four-wheeled mobile robot. The proposed identification system that can guarantee stability is derived from the Lyapunov stability theory. Computer simulations have been conducted to illustrate the performance of the proposed solution by a series of experiments on the emulator of the wheeled mobile robot.

The subject of discussion is a tank gun stabiliser (in azimuth and elevation). For the investigation of the considered control system one applied a method of computer simulations. The mathematical model and its numerical implementation were experimentally verified. The results of experimental and model simulation investigations showed that the mathematical model and its numerical implementation were worked-out correctly. Using the verified mathematical model of the system, the simulation investigations of the influence of regulation potentiometers settlings on stabilisation exactness and transient processes quality were carried-out. The possibilities of improving performance characteristics of the stabiliser via altering of feedback’s gain coefficients as well as the influence of disturbing inputs amplitude and frequency (propagated from the hull on the gun and turret) on stabilisation exactness of a given position were also analysed. The presented technique is quite general and may be applied to any type of vehicle to study dynamic effects of several rigid bodies, which move relative to each other (when displacements are small) and are connected by constraint equations.

Opis:
This paper proposes an autonomous obstacle avoidance method combining improved A-star (A*) and improved artificial potential field (APF) to solve the planning and tracking problems of autonomous vehicles in a road environment. The A*APF algorithm to perform path planning tasks, and based on the longitudinal braking distance model, a dynamically changing obstacle influence range is designed. When there is no obstacle affecting the controlled vehicle, the improved A* algorithm with angle constraint combined with steering cost can quickly generate the optimal route and reduce turning points. If the controlled vehicle enters the influence domain of obstacle, the improved artificial potential field algorithm will generate lane changing paths and optimize the local optimal locations based on simulated annealing. Pondering the influence of surrounding participants, the four-mode obstacle avoidance process is established, and the corresponding safe distance condition is analyzed. A particular index is introduced to comprehensively evaluate speed, risk warning, and safe distance factors, so the proposed method is designed based on the fuzzy control theory. In the tracking task, a model predictive controller in the light of the kinematics model is devised to make the longitudinal and lateral process of lane changing meet comfort requirements, generating a feasible autonomous lane-change path. Finally, the simulation was performed in the Matlab/Simulink and Carsim combined environment. The proposed fusion path generation algorithm can overcome the shortcomings of the traditional single method and better adapt to the dynamic environment. The feasibility of the obstacle avoidance algorithm is verified in the three-lane simulation scenario to meet safety and comfort requirements.

The work describes an automatically on-line Self-Tunnable Fuzzy Interference Systems (STFIS) of a new configuration of mini-flying called XSF (X4 Stationary Flyer) drone. A Fuzzy controller based on-line optimization of a zero order Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy interference system (FIS) by a back propagation like algorithm is successfully applied. It is used to minimize a cost function that is made up of a quadratic error term and a weight decay term that prevents an excessive growth of parameters. Thus, we carried out control for helical trajectories by using the STFIS technique. This permits to prove the effectiveness of the proposed control law. Simulation results and a comparison with a Static Feedback Linearization controller (SFL) are presented and discussed. We studied the robustness of the two used controllers in the presence of disturbances. We presented the case of an engine breakdown as well as a gust of wind and taking into account white noise disturbances.

In this paper the stability of a closed-loop cascade control system in the trajectory tracking task is addressed. The considered plant consists of underlying second-order fully actuated perturbed dynamics and the first order system which describes dynamics of the input. The main theoretical result establishes the conditions for Lyapunov stability formulated for the perturbed cascade control structure taking advantage of the active rejection disturbance approach. In particular, limitations imposed on a feasible set of an observer bandwidth are discussed. In order to illustrate characteristics of the closed-loop control system simulation results are presented. Furthermore, the particular implementation of the cascade control algorithm is verified experimentally using a two-axis telescope mount. The obtained results confirm that the considered control strategy can be efficiently applied for a class of mechanical systems when a high position tracking precision is required.

This paper deals with the application of a variable structure observer developed for a class of nonlinear systems to solve the trajectory tracking problem for rigid robot manipulators. The analyzed approach to observer design proposes a simple design methodology for systems having completely observable linear parts and bounded nonlinearities and/or uncertainties. This observer is basically the conventional Luenberger observer with an additional switching term that is used to guarantee robustness against modeling errors and system uncertainties. To solve the tracking problem, we use a control law developed for robot manipulators in the full information case. The closed loop system is shown to be globally asymptotically stable based on Lyapunov arguments. Simulation results on a 3-DOF robot manipulator show the asymptotic convergence of the vectors of observation and tracking errors.

This paper presents a control concept for a single-axle mobile robot moving on the horizontal plane. A mathematical model of the nonholonomic mechanical system is derived using Hamel's equations of motion. Subsequently, a concept for a tracking controller is described in detail. This controller keeps the mobile robot on a given reference trajectory while maintaining it in an upright position. The control objective is reached by a cascade control structure. By an appropriate input transformation, we are able to utilize an input-output linearization of a subsystem. For the remaining dynamics a linear set-point control law is presented. Finally, the performance of the implemented control law is illustrated by simulation results.

Opis:
Heavy dump vehicles are usually working with big load changes and bad work environment, thus change the friction performance of transmission clutches, as well as great affect the shift quality seriously, which influence the vehicle performance. Many researchers developed a lot to design a useful automatic transmission control system. Using PID tracking control and Monte Carlo method, the controller based on an dynamic model was set up to analyze the shifting process of automatic transmission and its robustness in this paper. The shift process was divided into four stages, low-gear phase, torque phase, inertia phase and high-gear phase. The model presents the process from the first gear to the second gear when the torque has big change. Since the jerk and the friction work of clutch are both related to the speed of clutch which was easier to control, it was chose as the target to control the oil pressure for satisfying the requirement of shift quality. The simulation software, Maplesim and Simulink, were used to build the vehicle model and shifting controller for simulation under different working conditions, and the maximum jerk was changed from 34 m/s3 to 12 m/s3 after the optimization. In this paper the Monte Carlo has been used to quantize and evaluate the robustness of the closed-loop system for the friction coefficients and output torque of turbine variation leading by the friction feature parameters and throttle angle changed. Monte Carlo method was used to analyze the effectiveness and robustness of PID controller, which proves that it has good control effect when the throttle is ongoing minor fluctuations. When the throttle is full opening, a quadratic optimal controller based on disturbance is designed by the method of multi-objective optimization. When it changes within 20 percent, PID controller was designed under the guidance of tracking thoughts. The results also show that the controller could still obtain better effect when the friction coefficient ranged from -40 % to 40 % as well as engine torque changed from -20 % to 20 %, which indicates the robustness of controller.

Opis:
Autonomous vehicles are the most advanced intelligent vehicles and will play an important role in reducing traffic accidents, saving energy and reducing emission. Motion control for trajectory tracking is one of the core issues in the field of autonomous vehicle research. According to the characteristics of strong nonlinearity, uncertainty and changing longitudinal velocity for autonomous vehicles at high speed steering condition, the robust trajectory tracking control is studied. Firstly, the vehicle system models are established and the novel target longitudinal velocity planning is carried out. This velocity planning method can not only ensure that the autonomous vehicle operates in a strong nonlinear coupling state in bend, but also easy to be constructed. Then, taking the lateral location deviation minimizing to zero as the lateral control objective, a robust active disturbance rejection control path tracking controller is designed along with an extended state observer which can deal with the varying velocity and uncertain lateral disturbance effectively. Additionally, the feed for ward-feedback control method is adopted to control the total tire torque, which is distributed according to the steering characteristics of the vehicle for additional yaw moment to enhance vehicle handing stability. Finally, the robustness of the proposed controller is evaluated under velocity-varying condition and sudden lateral disturbance. The single-lane change maneuver and double-lane change maneuver under vary longitudinal velocity and different road adhesions are both simulated. The simulation results based on Matlab/Simulink show that the proposed controller can accurately observe the external disturbances and have good performance in trajectory tracking and handing stability. The maximum lateral error reduces by 0.18 meters compared with a vehicle that controlled by a feedback-feedforward path tracking controller in the single-lane change maneuver. The lateral deviation is still very small even in the double lane change case of abrupt curvature. It should be noted that our proposed control algorithm is simple and robust, thus provide great potential for engineering application.

The paper adresses optimal control problem of mobile manipulators. Dynamic equations of those mechanisms are assuemd herein to be uncertain. Moreover, unbounded disturbances act on the mobile manipulator whose end-effector tracks a desired (reference) trajectory given in a task (Certesian) space. A compytionally efficient class of two-stage cascaded (hierarchchical) control algotithms based on both the transpose Jacobian matrix and transpose actuation matrix, has been proposed. The offered control laws involve to kinds of non-singular terminal sliding mode (TSM) manifolds, which were also introduced in the paper. The proposed class of cooperating sub-controllers is shown to be finite time stable be fulfilment of practically reasonable assumptions. The performance of the proposed control strategies is illustated on an exemplary mobile manipulator whose end-effector tracks desired trajectory.

In this paper the trajectory tracking control algorithm with obstacle avoidance capability is presented. As a robot gets into a neighborhood of the obstacle, the collision avoidance behavior is turned on. It is implemented using the artificial potential function (APF) that increases to infinity as the robot approaches a boundary of the obstacle. This feature guarantees collision avoidance. As avoidance behavior is active only in the neighborhood of the obstacle it does not affect the motion when there is no risk of the collision. Authors show that trajectory of the robot converges to desired one when a robot is out of the APF area. Due to a local characteristic of the APF, the implementation of the algorithm of the robot that uses only on-board sensors is possible. The stability proof is presented for both a near obstacle and obstacle-free areas. Effectiveness of the algorithm is illustrated with experiments on a real robot in an environment with static circle-shaped obstacles.

The proposed stiffness controller is evaluated on a research robot manipulator performing a task in the operational space. Tests attempted to achieve fast motion with reasonable accuracy associated with lower computational load compared to the non-fuzzy approach. The stability analysis is presented to conclude about the mapping error influence and to obtain precondition criteria for the gains adjustment to face the trajectory tracking problem. Simulation results that supported the implementation are presented, followed by experiments and results obtained. These tests are conducted on a robot manipulator with SCARA configuration to illustrate the feasibility of this strategy.

In this paper, the design and implementation of a nonlinear model‐based predictive controller (NMPC) for predefined trajectory tracking and to minimize the control effort of a smartphone‐based quadrotor are developed. The optimal control actions are calculated in each iteration by means of an optimal control algorithm based on the non‐linear model of the quadrotor, considering some aerodynamic effects. Control algorithm implementation and simulation tests are executed on a smartphone using the CasADi framework. In addition, a technique for estimating the energy consumed based on control signals is presented. NMPC controller performance was compared with other works developed towards the con‐ trol of quadrotors, based on an H∞ controller and an LQI controller, and using three predefined trajectories, where the NMPC average tracking error was around 50% lower, and average estimated power and energy consumption slightly higher, with respect to the H∞ and LQI controllers.

In multi-axis motion control systems, the tracking errors of single axis load and the contour errors caused by the mismatch of dynamic characteristics between the moving axes will affect the accuracy of the motion control system. To solve this issue, a biaxial motion control strategy based on double-iterative learning and cross-coupling control is proposed. The proposed control method improves the accuracy of the motion control system by improving individual axis tracking performance and contour tracking performance. On this basis, a rapid control prototype (RCP) is designed, and the experiment is verified by the hardware and software platforms, LabVIEW and Compact RIO. The whole design shows enhancement in the precision of the motion control of the multi- axis system. The performance in individual axis tracking and contour tracking is greatly improved.

In this work, continuous third-order sliding mode controllers are presented to control a five degrees-of-freedom (5-DOF) exoskeleton robot. This latter is used in physiotherapy rehabilitation of upper extremities. The aspiration is to assist the movements of patients with severe motor limitations. The control objective is then to design adept controllers to follow desired trajectories smoothly and precisely. Accordingly, it is proposed, in this work, a class of homogeneous algorithms of sliding modes having finite-time convergence properties of the states. They provide continuous control signals and are robust regardless of non-modeled dynamics, uncertainties and external disturbances. A comparative study with a robust finite-time sliding mode controller proposed in literature is performed. Simulations are accomplished to investigate the efficacy of these algorithms and the obtained results are analyzed.

This paper analyses a trajectory tracking control problem for a wheeled mobile robot, Rusing integration of a kinematic neural controller (KNC) and a torque neural controller (TNC), in which both the kinematic and dynamic models contain uncertainties and disturbances. The proposed adaptive neural controller (PANC) is composed of the KNC and the TNC and is designed with use of a modeling technique of Gaussian radial basis function neural networks (RBFNNs). The KNC is a variable structure controller, based on the sliding mode theory and is applied to compensate for the disturbances of the wheeled mobile robot kinematics. The TNC is an inertia-based controller composed of a dynamic neural controller (DNC) and a robust neural compensator (RNC) applied to compensate for the wheeled mobile robot dynamics, bounded unknown disturbances, and neural network modeling errors. To minimize the problems found in practical implementations of the classical variable structure controllers (VSC) and sliding mode controllers (SMC), and to eliminate the chattering phenomenon, the nonlinear and continuous KNC and RNC of the TNC are applied in lieu of the discontinuous components of the control signals that are present in classical forms. Additionally, the PANC neither requires the knowledge of the wheeled mobile robot kinematics and dynamics nor the timeconsuming training process. Stability analysis, convergence of the tracking errors to zero, and the learning algorithms for the weights are guaranteed based on the Lyapunov method. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Avariety of approaches for trajectory tracking control of wheeled mobile robots have been implemented. This paper presents a model for a time optimal motion control based on fuzzy logic algorithm for a three wheeled nonholonomic mobile robot with desired function. Simplified kinematic equations of a differentially driven robot are designed to follow the path with evaluated linear and angular velocities. Here, the proposed kinematic model is based on a simple geometric approach for getting the desired position and orientation. The speeds are varied depending on the variations in the path and on the posture of the robot. The robot is subjected to move in a constrained workspace. The control architecture was developed based on fuzzy logic algorithm to obtain time optimal motion control of robot trajectory tracking. The kinematic model was done on Matlab software environment and profound impact on the ability of the nonholonomic mobile robot to track the path was evaluated.

This paper proposes the use of gain scheduling as a method of controlling a servo system with hard non-linear elements. The servo controls two elements of a tracker mounted on a ship at sea. There is stiction at the zero velocity point and non-linear friction against the motion of each tracker axis. A dual feedback loop control structure is employed. Fuzzy logic is used to provide smoothly varying non-linear scheduling functions to map the velocity of the servo relevant to the deck of the ship onto the rate loop controller parameters. Consideration is given to the use of a derivative signal as a secondary input to the fuzzy inference system. Results are presented which demonstrate that this method of controlling the servo system gives a dramatic improvement over the traditional linear control methodology for low velocity tracking performance. A linear PID controller is used in the outer loop and its design is also given some consideration.

This paper presents a comparative study between the conventional PI (Proportional Integral) and backstepping controllers applied to the DFIG (Doubly Fed Induction Generator) used in WECS (Wind Energy Conversion System). These two different control strategies proposed in this work are developed to control the active and reactive power of the DFIG on the one hand, and to maintain the DC-link voltage constant for the inverting function on the other hand. This is ensured by generating control signals for two power electronic converters, RSC (Rotor Side Converter) and GSC (Grid Side Converter). In order to optimise the power production in the WT (Wind Turbine), an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) algorithm is applied along with each control technique. To simulate the effectiveness of the proposed controllers, MATLAB/Simulink Software is used, and the obtained results are analysed and discussed to compare PI and backstepping controllers in terms of robustness against wind speed variations and tracking performance in dynamic and steady states.

In this paper, a robust sliding mode tracking controller with prescribed performance is developed for an underactuated surface vehicle (USV) with time-varying external disturbances. Firstly, to guarantee the transient and steadystate performance of the closed-loop system, the error transformation technique is presented. Further, the design of the prescribed performance function implements predefined tracking performance constraints, which eliminate the requirement for prior knowledge about the initial errors. Then, a Lyapunov stability synthesis shows that all closed-loop signals remain bounded and the tracking errors remain strictly within the predefined bounds. Finally, simulations and a comparative study are performed to illustrate the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed robust sliding mode control scheme.

Firstly, in view of the kinematic and dynamic models of USVs and the design idea of a virtual control law in a backstepping approach, the trajectory tracking control problem of USVs’ cooperative formation is transformed into a stabilisation problem of the virtual control law of longitudinal and lateral velocities. Then, aiming at the problem of differential explosion caused by repeated derivation in the process of backstepping design, the first-order low-pass filter about the virtual longitudinal velocity and intermediate state quantity of position is constructed to replace differential calculations during the design of the control law, respectively. In order to reduce the steady-state error when stabilising the virtual lateral velocity control law, the integral term is introduced into the design of the sliding mode surface with a lateral velocity error, and then the second-order sliding mode surface with an integral is structured. In addition, due to the problem of controller oscillation and the role of the tracking differentiator (TD) in active disturbance rejection control (ADRC), the LVTD is designed to smooth the state quantity of lateral velocity. Subsequently, based on the dynamic model of USV under complex marine environment disturbances, the nonlinear disturbance observer is designed to observe the disturbances and compensate the control law. Finally, the whole cooperative formation system is proved to be uniformly and ultimately bounded, according to the Lyapunov stability theory, and the stability and validity of the method is also verified by the simulation results.

Opis:
An adaptive neural network (NN) event-triggered trajectory tracking control scheme based on finite time convergence is proposed to address the problem of trajectory tracking control of underdriven surface ships. In this scheme, both NNs and minimum learning parameters (MLPS) are applied. The internal and external uncertainties are approximated by NNs. To reduce the computational complexity, MLPs are used in the proposed controller. An event-triggered technique is then incorporated into the control design to synthesise an adaptive NN-based event-triggered controller with finite-time convergence. Lyapunov theory is applied to prove that all signals are bounded in the tracking system of underactuated vessels, and to show that Zeno behavior can be avoided. The validity of this control scheme is determined based on simulation results, and comparisons with some alternative schemes are presented.

A robust adaptive kinematic control strategy, based on the methodology of variable structure control is considered in this paper. Because the dynamics of mobile robots is subject to uncertainties and disturbances, a fuzzy compensator is adopted to estimate them. In order to minimize the tracking errors and to attenuate the chattering phenomenon, an adaptation law for the fuzzy compensator is obtained by Lyapunov stability theory so as to asymptotically stabilize the control system as well as guarantee the convergence of the tracking errors. In terms of comparison with the boundary layer variable structure controller, simulations and experiments verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed kinematic control strategy for the nonholonomic mobile robots under the incidence of uncertainties and disturbances.

This paper presents a user‐friendly simulator developed based on Windows Forms and deployed as a test bed for validating automatic control algorithms. The effectiveness of some of the integrated track controllers has been tested with free running experiments carried out in the Towing Tank for Manoeuvres in Shallow Water in Ostend, Belgium. The controllers enable a ship to follow predefined random paths with high accuracy. Ship‐to‐ship interaction is considered in some cases. Simulator environments provide useful tools for extending the number of validation scenarios, supplementing the work performed in the towing tank. The simulator is presented with a graphical user interface, aiming at providing a good user experience, numerous test scenarios and an extensively‐validated library of automatic control algorithms. With the usage of the simulator, further evaluation of developed control algorithms by implementing extensive test runs with different ships and waterways could be made. Case studies are shown to illustrate the functionality of the simulator.

This paper details a proposal for the position control system of a two-axis ship-mounted tracker. Aspects of the non-linear dynamics governing Line-Of-Sight (LOS) errors between the tracker and the target are presented. It is shown that the regulation of LOS errors can be achieved by introducing a feed-forward term based on the target’s velocity. This velocity is not measurable, and an estimator is required. Given that the tracking problem is non-linear, the classical separation principle does not hold, and cascading the estimator and regulator together may not lead to an optimal position control system. The ‘LQAdaptive’ system proposed here aims therefore to improve conformity to the separation principle. Simulation trials show that tracking is improved under the LQAdaptive system in comparison to a simple estimator-regulator structure.

Opis:
In the paper the problem of ship trajectory tracking with ε-accuracy is considered. A three-degrees-of-freedom ship model full dynamic interaction between motions in roll, sway and yaw is assumed. The aim of the paper is to determine the robust control for ship trajectory tracking with ε-accuracy. Such control is obtained by means of a state feedback (called Tytus feedback) system characterised by an arbitrarily high gain. For this purpose a non-linear as well as linearised stable and unstable ship model is used. the simulation results confirm that a high precision performance can be achieved by the proposed control scheme.
W pracy rozważa się problem sterowania ruchem statku po zadanej trajektorii z dowolnie małą ε-dokładnością. W rozważaniach przyjęto model statku o trzech stopniach swobody i pełnym opisie zależności dynamicznych pomiędzy przechyłami bocznymi, kołysaniem wzdłużnym i kursem statku. The goal of this paper was to determine necessary dynamical conditions for the object tracking task. Developing these conditions required examining dynamical relationships between the UAV, camera head, disturbances and tracked object. This analysis was conducted in order to assess whether a given UAV-camera head set was suitable for a given object tracking task. The study assumed that the UAV was equipped with a flight trajectory control system. We discussed the methods of the dynamical properties description and finding a range of application for a particular set “UAV-camera head”. For each dynamical element of the examined system, we proposed a method of computing the parameters of the simulation model which corresponded to the behaviour of the real elements. In order to describe the range of the applications for the UAV-camera head set, we defined the space Ω – all combinations of the parameters which characterized the dynamics of the disturbance and object. Moreover, this study developed the method of selecting the subspace Ωs which described acceptable parameters of the object’s and disturbance’s dynamics. This paper presented the example of proper object tracking in the case of meeting the dynamical conditions and the example of losing the object in the opposite case.

Opis:
Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) perfectly fit into the future vision of merchant fleet. MASS autonomous navigation system combines automatic trajectory tracking and supervisor safe trajectory generation subsystems. Automatic trajectory tracking method, using line-of-sight (LOS) reference course generation algorithm, is combined with model predictive control (MPC). Algorithm for MASS trajectory tracking, including cooperation with the dynamic system of safe trajectory generation is described. It allows for better ship control with steady state cross-track error limitation to the ship hull breadth and limited overshoot after turns. In real MASS ships path is defined as set of straight line segments, so transition between trajectory sections when passing waypoint is unavoidable. In the proposed control algorithm LOS trajectory reference course is mapped to the rotational speed reference value, which is dynamically constrained in MPC controller due to dynamically changing reference trajectory in real MASS system. Also maneuver path advance dependent on the path tangential angle difference, to ensure trajectory tracking for turns from 0 to 90 degrees, without overshoot is used. All results were obtained with the use of training ship in real–time conditions.

Opis:
This work deals with the problem of the robust optimal task space trajectory tracking subject to finite-time convergence. Kinematic and dynamic equations of a redundant manipulator are assumed to be uncertain. Moreover, globally unbounded disturbances are allowed to act on the manipulator when tracking the trajectory by the endeffector. Furthermore, the movement is to be accomplished in such a way as to minimize both the manipulator torques and their oscillations thus eliminating the potential robot vibrations. Based on suitably defined task space non-singular terminal sliding vector variable and the Lyapunov stability theory, we derive a class of chattering-free robust kinematically optimal controllers, based on the estimation of transpose Jacobian, which seem to be effective in counteracting both uncertain kinematics and dynamics, unbounded disturbances and (possible) kinematic and/or algorithmic singularities met on the robot trajectory. The numerical simulations carried out for a redundant manipulator of a SCARA type consisting of the three revolute kinematic pairs and operating in a two-dimensional task space, illustrate performance of the proposed controllers as well as comparisons with other well known control schemes.

Opis:
One of the most critical systems of any satellite is the Electrical Power System (EPS) and without any available energy, the satellite would simply stop to function. Therefore, the presented research within this paper investigates the areas relating to the satellite EPS with the main focus towards the CubeSat platform. In this paper, an appropriate EPS architecture with the suitable control policy for CubeSat missions is proposed. The suggested control strategy combines two methods, the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and the Battery Charge Regulation (BCR), in one power converter circuit, in order to extract the maximum power of the Photovoltaic (PV) system and regulate the battery voltage from overcharging. This proposed combined control technique is using a Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) strategy serving two main purposes, the MPPT and BCR. Without an additional battery charger circuit and without switching technique between the two controllers, there are no switching losses and the efficiency of the charging characteristic can be increased by selecting this proposed combined FLC. By testing a space-based PV model with the proposed EPS architecture, some simulation results are compared to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed control strategy over the conventional strategies such as Perturb and Observe (P&O) and FLC with a Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller.

Opis:
In industrial control systems, practical interest is driven by the fact that today’s processes need to be operated under tighter performance specifications. Often these demands can only be met when process nonlinearities are explicitly considered in the controller. Nonlinear predictive control, the extension of well-established linear predictive control to nonlinear systems, appears to be a well-suited approach for this kind of problems. In this paper, an optimal nonlinear predictive control structure, which provides asymptotic tracking of smooth reference trajectories, is presented. The controller is based on a finite–horizon continuous time minimization of nonlinear predicted tracking errors. A key feature of the control law is that its implementation does not need to perform on-line optimization, and asymptotic tracking of smooth reference signal is guaranteed. An integral action is used to increase the robustness of the closed-loop system with respect to uncertainties and parameters variations. The proposed control scheme is first applied to planning motions problem of a mobile robot and, afterwards, to the trajectory tracking problem of a rigid link manipulator. Simulation results are performed to validate the tracking performance of the proposed controller.

The article presents the solution to the problem of trajectory tracking of a self-organized group of wheeled robots in the environment without obstacles. The group of robots is tracking a trajectory realized as following a reference point by the geometric center of the group, as well as simultaneously, reaching and maintaining a given distance between neighboring robots. The proposed method is based on virtual forces from virtual spring-damper connections between robots, which allows for the trajectory tracking of the previously self-organized group while maintaining its desired shape. The presented method of control is described in detail with the description of i-th robot dynamics and was tested numerically and experimentally. The paper presents the results of numerical tests and experimental research and ends with discussion and conclusions. The paper’s results could be expanded for applications related to robotic group trajectory tracking.

Analizę wydajności nadążnej instalacji fotowoltaicznej przeprowadzono w stosunku do instalacji o stałym kącie pochylenia.
The paper presents the experimental operational results of dual-axis solar tracking system during March 2015 to September 2017. The analysed plant, with a total capacity 3 kWp, is installed in the campus of Bialystok University of Technology (Bialystok, north-east Poland). The performance of the solar tracker was analysed and compared with the static solar panel. The influence of the solar tracking system on the photovoltaic power generation in the urban area using the case study of the Bialystok city is discussed. The results show that the two-axis tracking system has increased the annual energy production by approximately 40% compared with that obtained from the fixed panel tilted at 38° towards the south. The method for improving accuracy of control algorithm on the dual-axis solar tracker is presented.

Opis:
When it comes to reducing emissions caused by the generation of electricity, among different renewable energy sources, the solar energy gains prominence, due to its geographical availability, simplicity of implementation, and absence of physical moving parts. However, the performance of photovoltaic systems is dependent on environmental conditions. Depending on temperature and solar irradiation, the photovoltaic (PV) system has an operating point where maximum power can be generated. The techniques that are implemented to find this operating point are the so-called maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms. Since weather conditions are variable in nature, the output voltage of the PV system needs to be regulated to remain equal to the reference. Most of the existing studies focus either on MPPT or on voltage regulation of the PV system. In this paper, the two-stage PV system is implemented so that both MPPT and voltage regulation are achieved simultaneously. Additionally, an improved version of the perturb and observe (P&O) algorithm based on artificial potential fields (APF), called APF-P&O, is presented. According to the results of the simulations carried out in MATLAB/Simulink software, the APF-P&O method is more efficient than the conventional method.

W pracy przedstawiono analizę możliwości sterowania innowacyjną głowicą skanująco-śledzącą wchodzącą w skład pocisków rakietowcy i przeznaczoną do wykrywania oraz śledzenia wymienionych obiektów. Niektóre wyniki badań symulacji numerycznych przedstawiono w postaci graficznej.
On the modern battlefield, there is a need to continually increase combat capabilities, including speed, target detection, target identification and fire-fighting performance of short-range artillery-rocket sets. A big challenge is the ability to effectively fire through such sets of conditions of interference, not only from the direction of targeted air strike, but also from the moving platform on which the artillery-rocket set with self-guided rocket missiles is located. The paper presents the analysis of the possibilities of controlling an innovative scanning and tracking IR seeker that is a part of missile launchers and is designed to detect and track the above-mentioned objects. Some results of numerical simulation tests are presented in a graphical form.

Artykuł przedstawia badania efektywności zarządzania układami mobilnymi przez Internet oraz testowanie skuteczności algorytmu śledzenia robota sterowanego zdalnie. Eksperymenty zostały przeprowadzone na zrealizowanym do tego celu systemie - serwis internetowy oferujący przeprowadzanie gry pomiędzy dwoma, zdalnie sterowanymi robotami. Do wykonania powyższych założeń wykorzystany został statystyczny algorytm śledzenia punktu oparty o rozszerzony filtr Kalmana. Przeprowadzono szereg testów.
The paper presents an analysis of the effectiveness of mobile system management via the Internet [1] and testing of the effectiveness of the tracking algorithm robot controlled remotely [2, 3]. A object tracking algorithm based on the Extended Kalman Filter is implemented into a game for two robots (Fig. 1). The project proves the efficiency of the robot control and the EKF accuracy by observing and analyzing the work of the internet service, which allows two remote-controlled robots to take a part in the game [8]. Similar examples are in medicine [5] as well as international research and education [6]. All of them use advanced robotics technologies [4, 7, 9]. The robot used in the experiments is an educational robot Mindstorms NXT and in this paper we prove that it also gives many possibilities to achieve interesting results in robot remote-control and human-robot interaction (Fig. 2). In the case of tests for the reaction time of the robot on request, one can draw positive conclusions. In situations where no response is required from the server, the response time of the systems to commands from the remote computers is instant. The effectiveness of the tracking algorithm for the remote-controlled robot was tested by conducting a series of tests. They showed a proportional dependency between the velocity of the robots and the coordinate errors (Figs. 3 and 4). A possible direction of development of the system may be the use of more advanced Internet technologies, which could accelerate communication between a client and a server.

Opis:
This paper studies innovative application of sliding mode control (SMC) for a Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES) in grid-connected and autonomous modes of operation. The considered HRES includes a photovoltaic (PV), wind turbine (WT) based on a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG). The PV generator is coupled to the common DC bus via a DC/DC converter. The latter is controlled by an MPPT algorithm based on the Adaptive Perturbation and Observation Algorithm Method (APOAM) to search the optimum working of this source. A SMC is utilized to manage the PV voltage to achieve the Maximum Power Point (MPP) by altering the obligation duty cycle. The battery interfaced by a bidirectional buck-boost DC/DC converter can be charged or discharged depending on the production situation. On the one hand, the wind turbine conversion chain is equipped with a PMSG and a rectifier controlled to regulate the operating point of the wind turbine to its optimum value. During a Stand-Alone Mode (SAM) operation, the Voltage Source Converter (VSC) was used for controlling the output voltage in terms of amplitude and frequency delivered to the AC load. However, in Grid-Connected Mode (GCM) operation, the VSC was adapted to control the electrical parameters of the grid. To better appreciate the advantages of the proposed SMC approach, we have proposed a series of comparative tests with the conventional PI control in the operating modes GC and SA and under different scenarios. The proposed control strategy has undeniable advantages in terms of control performance and very low total harmonic distortion THD value compared with the conventional PI control. Finally, It is concluded that the proposed approach improves the quality and provides a stable operation of the HRES.

Opis:
This paper considers the problem of the accurate task space finite-time control susceptible to both undesirable disturbance forces exerted on the end-effector and unknown friction forces coming from joints directly driven by the actuators as well as unstructured forces resulting from the kinematic singularities appearing on the mechanism trajectory. We obtain a class of estimated extended transposed Jacobian controllers which seem to successfully counteract the external disturbance forces on the basis of a suitably defined task-space non-singular terminal sliding manifold (TSM) and the Lyapunov stability theory. Moreover, in order to overcome (or to minimise) the undesirable chattering effects, the proposed robust control law involves the second-order sliding technique. The numerical simulations (closely related to an experiment) ran for a mobile manipulator consisting of a non-holononic platform of (2;0) type and a holonomic manipulator of two revolute kinematic pairs show the performance of the proposed controllers and make a comparison with other well-known control schemes.

Opis:
This study provides a new class of controllers for freeflying space manipulators subject to unknown undesirable disturbing forces exerted on the end-effector. Based on suitably defined taskspace non-singular terminal sliding manifold and the Lyapunov stability theory, we derive a class of estimated extended transposed Jacobian controllers which seem to be effective in counteracting the unstructured disturbing forces. The numerical computations which are carried out for a space manipulator consisting of a spacecraft propelled by eight thrusters and holonomic manipulator of three revolute kinematic pairs, illustrate the performance of the proposed controller.

Opis:
In recent years there has been an increasing demand for electric vehicles due to their attractive features including low pollution and increase in efficiency. Electric vehicles use electric motors as primary motion elements and permanent magnet machines found a proven record of use in electric vehicles. Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) as electric propulsion in electric vehicles supersedes the performance compared to other motor types. However, in order to eliminate the cumbersome mechanical sensors used for feedback, sensorless control of motors has been proposed. This paper proposes the design of sliding mode observer (SMO) based on Lyapunov stability for sensorless control of PMSM. The designed observer is modeled with a simulated PMSM model to evaluate the tracking efficiency of the observer. Further, the SMO is coded using MATLAB/Xilinx block models to investigate the performance at real-time.

Opis:
The wind energy conversion systems (WECS) suffer from an intermittent nature of source (wind) and the resulting disparity between power generation and electricity demand. Thus, WECS are required to be operated at maximum power point (MPP). This research paper addresses a sophisticated MPP tracking (MPPT) strategy to ensure optimum (maximum) power out of the WECS despite environmental (wind) variations. This study considers a WECS (fixed pitch, 3KW, variable speed) coupled with a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) and proposes three sliding mode control (SMC) based MPPT schemes, a conventional first order SMC (FOSMC), an integral back-stepping-based SMC (IBSMC) and a super-twisting reachability-based SMC, for maximizing the power output. However, the efficacy of MPPT/control schemes rely on availability of system parameters especially, uncertain/nonlinear dynamics and aerodynamic terms, which are not commonly accessible in practice. As a remedy, an off-line artificial function-fitting neural network (ANN) based on Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is employed to enhance the performance and robustness of MPPT/control scheme by effectively imitating the uncertain/nonlinear drift terms in the control input pathways. Furthermore, the speed and missing derivative of a generator shaft are determined using a high-gain observer (HGO). Finally, a comparison is made among the stated strategies subjected to stochastic and deterministic wind speed profiles. Extensive MATLAB/Simulink simulations assess the effectiveness of the suggested approaches.
