A driver’s mental and physical states while driving on hazardous roads significantly determine the incident of traffic accident. The objectives of this paper are to analyze the impact of road complexity on the psychophysiological load experienced by drivers through the use of Electroencephalography (EEG). Three conditions were examined through driving simulation, namely motorway, rural road, and city road. The data were collected from three respondents (drivers) who had different driving experiences, including < 3 years, 3 to 5 years, and > 5 years. Besides, each respondent would go through two tests with different situations: a normal situation and interfered situation (noises). The tool used was Emotive EPOC neuroheadset with 5 channels (electrode) which represent brain parts, such as the frontal (AF3 and AF4), temporal (T7 and T8), and parietal/occipital Pz. The simulation test results show that the beta signal for the motorway road situation in the occipital lobe, which functioned as visual, is more dominant compared to electrodes in other parts. Meanwhile, data from the rural road and the city road indicate a strong signal of emotions and visuals. In addition, based on the metrics performance result, the drivers’ level of stress reached its highest on the city road, as much as 45, followed by the rural road = 44 and the motorway = 42. While for the concentration index, the city road achieved 47, the rural road = 50 and the motorway = 53. EEG can be used as the basis for drivers performance assessment within different road situations so that the alert system for drivers can be engineered better.

During the operation of vehicles, their operational parameters change, which is related to the influence of working factors, the current situation on the road and its capacity, as well as the wear processes of the vehicle components. Improving the operational and ecological properties of motor vehicles, taking into account technical, legal and operational factors, is a constantly important issue. The article presents selected test results of a vehicle used in the eco-driving technique in urban traffic. The main objective of the study was to verify the possibility of limiting intensive braking and the number of braking thanks to the use of eco-driving. Limitations of intensive braking allow extending the service life of the friction elements of the braking system. The research was carried out on the so-called routine route from work to home in a selected area of the city of Lublin in south-eastern Poland. The obtained research results focus on the influence of selected driving parameters, such as: mileage, road characteristics, number of vehicle stops, number of vehicle stops at intersections and in front of pedestrian crossings, depending on the driving style. The analysis of the results shows the benefits of eco-driving in city traffic.

In its judgment of 6 July 2016, I OSK 1516/16, the Supreme Administrative Court ruled that proceedings initiated by the complaint referred in Art. 68 of the Act on Vehicle Drivers by a person subjected to a driving test is an administrative proceeding for the invalidation of the state driving test, which, pursuant to Art. 72 Clause 1 of the Act on Vehicle Drivers, should be concluded by an administrative decision. This means that the test taker has the right to challenge the conduct of a driving test in jurisdictional administrative proceedings, because he or she is entitled to initiate proceedings for its invalidation. It is a new, precedent-setting and favorable view for the examinee. Although it is also socially significant, because it concerns a common matter, it is impossible to agree with it, because in accordance with the intention of the legislator, the examinee is not entitled to initiate such proceedings. He or she only can signal in the complaint procedure specified in Section VIII of the Act of 14 June 1960 the Code of Administrative Procedure to the voivodeship marshal the need to initiate such proceedings ex officio.

Drivers suffering from epilepsy are commonly regarded as a threat to road safety. However, inability to use their own means of transport very often implies specific professional effects and lowers the quality of life. The aim of this study was to analyze the driving status of patients with epilepsy in Poland.Material and MethodsThe prospective study was performed using an independent questionnaire developed by the authors, consisting of 4 parts: 1) socio-demographic information, 2) clinical information, 3) driving information, and 4) opinions about patients with epilepsy as drivers. The study was conducted in November 2018–September 2019. A total of 188 patients completed this study.ResultsMore than one-quarter of the patients have a driving license. Among them, 35 individuals (accounting for 18.62% of the whole study group) said that they had received their driving license after the diagnosis of epilepsy. In 10 cases (5.32%), seizures occurred while the patients were driving and in 72 cases (38.30%) while they were traveling as passengers. Among all socio-clinical factors, having a driving license was conditioned by the marital status (p = 0.008) and education (p = 0.007). Other factors did not affect having a driving license or the time of obtaining the license (p > 0.05 for all cases). A relationship was observed between the occurrence of side effects of antiepileptic drugs and the occurrence of seizures while traveling as a car passenger (p = 0.001). Other factors did not affect the occurrence of epileptic seizures while traveling by car, either as a driver or a passenger (p > 0.05).ConclusionsA significant proportion of the respondents were of the opinion that patients with epilepsy should not be allowed to obtain a driving license, which is probably related to concerns about the occurrence of epileptic seizures while driving. It is necessary to conduct a nationwide educational and information campaign on epilepsy in various aspects.

Driving comfort and performance is of vital importance to evaluate the control quality of an automatic driving system. The control quality and calibration of the automatic driving system not only affects comfort but also psychological load and tension. Therefore, this paper proposed an analysis method of driving comfort combined with subjective and objec- tive factors, including multidimensional analysis based on the velocity domain, acceleration energy and power analysis, perceived risk and deviation analysis. Moreover, the feature of typical uncomfortable manoeuvres is analysed and generates an intelligent identification al- gorithm. It has been found that the uncomfortable identification performance is excellent (the accuracy reached 99%).

The driving techniques improvement because of economic, environmental and operating benefits of vehicle referred to as eco-driving, is a solution having a large application potential in different conditions of vehicle use. The article brought closer the idea of eco-driving and presented an extensive review of the literature regarding this subject. Driver assistance systems available as vehicle equipment in the field of driving economics were also presented. The article is an introduction to the issues of ecodriving and capabilities resulting from its application supported by literature reports from around the country and the world carried out by various research centers and experienced authors.

Introduction. The impact of a driver’s cognitive capability on traffic safety has not been adequately studied. This study examined the relationship between cognitive failures, driving errors and accident data. Method. Professional drivers from Iran (160 males, ages 18–65) participated in this study. The cognitive failures questionnaire (CFQ) and the driver error questionnaire were administered. The participants were also asked other questions about personal driving information. A principal component analysis with varimax rotation was performed to determine the factor structure of the CFQ. Poisson regression models were developed to predict driving errors and accidents from total CFQ scores and the extracted factors. Results. Total CFQ scores were associated with driving error rates, but not with accidents. However, the 2 extracted factors suggested an increased effect on accidents and were strongly associated with driving errors. Discussion. Although the CFQ was not able to predict driving accidents, it could be used to identify drivers susceptible to driving errors. Further development of a driving-oriented cognitive failure scale is recommended to help identify error prone drivers. Such a scale may be beneficial to licensing authorities or for developing driver selection and training procedures for organizations.

Driving anxiety is a relatively undervalued topic of research, despite the fact that it can have a substantial detrimental impact on an individuals’ life. The prevalence of driving anxiety in motor vehicle crash (MVC) survivors has been found to range from 18–77%. Although driving anxiety can develop without crash involvement, no information currently exists on the prevalence of driving anxiety in the general population. One barrier to gathering this information is that most of the instruments are designed to measure driving anxiety in MVC survivors. However, the Driving and Riding Avoidance Scale (DRAS; Stewart & St. Peter, 2004) is one instrument that shows promise as a more general measure of driving anxiety, although previous research has noted the need for some minor adaptations (Taylor & Sullman, 2009). Therefore, the present study investigated the psychometric properties of an adapted version of the DRAS and the level of driving anxiety amongst a sample of 210 Polish participants. Internal consistency for the overall DRAS was .91 and ranged from .77 to .85 for the subscales. Factor analysis of the DRAS resulted in two clear factors, with the fi rst containing driving avoidance items and the second consisting solely of riding avoidance items. Therefore it appears that the DRAS can be a useful measure of driving avoidance in samples drawn from the general population as well as MVC survivors.

Human-related factors are considered to be the main cause of traffic incidents or accidents, causing 69.70% of the incidents. Several studies have been conducted to identify the relationship between drowsiness or fatigue and driving performance. Furthermore, a number of other studies not only discussed the symptoms causing drowsiness but also tried to investigate related factors that cause sleepiness or fatigue while driving. On the other hand, some discussed the quantity and quality of sleep as well as food and drink intake before and while driving. This systematic review, which is based on the PRISMA method, aims to map previous studies that investigated the effect of different food/drink consumption, either taken prior to driving or while driving, on the on-road driving characteristics of drivers. Furthermore, this article is expected to serve as a reference for further research that could potentially contribute to minimizing driving errors that lead to incident or accident. From 1871 articles screened, 7 studies related to food/drink intake and driving performance were reviewed. On the basis of the existing studies, no real evidence showing the presence of the association between food intake and the monotony of the road to decrease the driving performance has been found; therefore, further research is needed.

The bulk of the research that seeks to understand driving behavior and decision making has been performed by behavioral psychologists and engineers. These studies have a tendency to focus on the individual driver, examining such topics as road and vehicle design, cognitive skills, and the effects of collisions on the human body. This disparate research has produced a wealth of knowledge but with little unifying theory. The act of driving occurs within social environments that exist at many levels; the same act can be viewed through multiple lenses. In its exploration of the social context, this paper moves from an analysis of the global scale to the regional to the local. Our roads are monitored by police services and illegal acts are punished by judicial systems; these social institutions attempt to modify behavior through punitive measures. These punitive measures are derived from social theories of deviance and deterrence, methods shown here to be flawed. Empirical data derived from observations in Al Ain, UAE, are used in a quasi-experimental design that describes how drivers alter their choice of speed based on their observations of other drivers. This paper concludes by suggesting that, both by examining and legislating for driver behavior, there is a pressing need to situate the driver within his/her social environment.

Most of road accidents are caused by human error. To study these errors road safety researchers developed selfreported measures. DBQ (Driver Behaviour Questionnaire) is one of the most frequently used tools for studies carried out in scope of traffic psychology. It has become an international standard which is used by driver behaviour researchers, yet it is still quite unknown in Poland. The questionnaire describes aberrant behaviour of the drivers in two basic dimensions: errors and violations. The main purpose of following article is to present the theoretical principles underlying the human error model, structure of this tool and polish adaption of the questionnaire. Polish version of the DBQ has 32 items in total. Another aim of the study was to investigate the factorial structure of the DBQ presented in previous studies. The reported data included a sample of 467 drivers. Reliability coefficients were calculated for each scale and their value were around .80 representing high overall reliability. Our analysis indicates that the DBQ construct was fairly congruent with the one presented in the Swedish study. Behaviours were classified due to their factor loadings in following dimensions – violations, mistakes, inattention and inexperience. Seven behaviours have different factor loading, which indicates different psychological mechanism underlying these aberrations. Issues related to these findings are discussed.

The article touches on the question of eco-driving – a conception that offers a turn of the style of driving into more economical and more favorable to the environment. There have been shown the assumptions of eco-driving which provide a reduction in fuel consumption and, thanks to that, a saving of money and the environment’s components. The increase of a driving culture thanks to eco-driving may become one of the methods of activization the informal environmental education.

W pracy przedstawiono propozycję wskaźnikowego ujęcia zagadnienia oceny przyrostu umiejętności kierowcy w wyniku przebytego szkolenia z zakresu doskonalenia techniki jazdy. Na podstawie parametrów jakości jazdy takich jak: czas przejazdu trasy testowej, liczba popełnionych błędów różnego rodzaju, mierzonych przed oraz po szkoleniu, zaproponowano przekształcenie wielowymiarowej przestrzeni wyników w dwuwymiarową przestrzeń wskaźnika umiejętności oraz przyrostu umiejętności kierowcy. Tradycyjnie stosowane wskaźniki poprawy umiejętności typu bezwzględne lub względne skrócenie czasu przejazdu są mocno skorelowane z czasem pierwszego przejazdu i w związku z tym nie mogą być podstawą do obiektywnej oceny poziomu szkolenia. Proponowane w artykule wskaźniki uwzględniają fakt, że uzyskanie znaczącej poprawy wyników podczas treningu zależy nie tylko od poziomu szkolenia, ale także od początkowych umiejętności kierowcy. Opracowane wskaźniki pozwalają obiektywnie porównywać zarówno stopień umiejętności kierowcy przed szkoleniem jak i jej przyrost w efekcie przebytego treningu. Wskaźnikowa ocena efektów szkolenia jednego kierowcy rozszerzona na wieloosobową populację kierowców może być podstawą do oceny jakości samego kursu. Z kolei porównanie jakości szkoleń w funkcji czasu będzie podstawą do określenia dynamiki ich poprawy. Opracowaną metodykę oceny wykorzystano do analizy skuteczności szkoleń przeprowadzonych na populacji 212 kierowców w pierwszej połowie 2012 r. przez Ośrodek Doskonalenia Techniki Jazdy Tor Rakietowa.
In the paper a new indicator to evaluation of the effectiveness of training vehicles drivers was presented. Based on the number of mistakes made by the driver during driving route set test before and after the training and the time to overcome this route, authors proposed a driving skills rate. Described in the paper methodology was used to analysis of efficiency of training on 212 drivers realized by Driving Technique Centre ”Tor Rakietowa” in first half 2012 y.

The aim of the paper is to present the European Project "MODULE CLOSE TO". The project is executed in eleven European Union countries. The paper describes main objectives and guidelines of the project. The project's main result in the final stage should be the development of conditions for unification of drivers''training system across Europe by introducing into drivers' training new educational module. The module consists in realization of educational method called "peer-to-peer" during drivers' training, which is taken from addiction treatment prevention in which a peer reports on a problem to another peer. In drivers' training, the course participants are confronted with road accident offenders (course participants' peers) and their stories, which should lead to positive changes in attitudes and behaviours of young, beginning drivers and therefore to permanent reduction in number of both road accidents and their victims. The preliminary research confirmed that classes with road accident offenders have a positive influence on developing proper attitudes of young drivers. A discussion concentrated on offender, his/her susceptibility to risky behaviours, accident's circumstances, confrontation with its consequences and on serving an adjudged sentence makes an impression on young course participants. The project anticipates introduction of pilot classes in driving schools, high schools, etc. within the framework of drivers' training with participation of road accident offenders and also evaluation of its influence on course participants. The final effect of the project will be the development of conditions for introducing a new educational module into existing drivers' training system as well as developing conditions for recruiting accident offenders and actions motivating them to join the project realization.

Celem badań było zweryfikowanie wpływu stylu jazdy kierowcy na emisję substancji szkodliwych w spalinach. Do realizacji celu wykonano pomiary emisji drogowej podstawowych gazowych związków toksycznych w spalinach emitowanych do atmosfery przez jednostkę napędową pojazdu. Do pomiarów zawartości poszczególnych zanieczyszczeń gazowych wykorzystano mobilną aparaturę do badań toksyczności spalin typu PEMS.

W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki pomiarów toksyczności spalin samochodu dostawczego w rzeczywistych warunkach ruchu. Celem badań było wstępne zweryfikowanie wpływu stylu jazdy kierowcy na emisję substancji szkodliwych w spalinach oraz zużycie paliwa przez pojazd. Do realizacji celu wykonano pomiary emisji drogowej dwutlenku węgla i innych związków szkodliwych spalin emitowanych do atmosfery przez jednostkę napędową pojazdu. Do pomiarów zawartości poszczególnych zanieczyszczeń gazowych w spalinach wykorzystano mobilną aparaturę do badań toksyczności spalin typu PEMS.

The study presents an important part of fourth chapter of the monograph 'Energy Consumption in Relation to Fuel Efficiency Under Complex Driving Conditions' (2003) concerning opportunities to improve vehicle drive efficiency through application, during one phase of driving in neutral in two-phase driving cycle. Theoretical simulation of total energy consumption in vehicles with SI engine provided explanation of a relatively low fuel efficiency observed under real driving conditions in serial cars [1]. The study cites the original method of calculations developed by the author in order to calculate the efficiency of vehicle power unit in two-phase driving cycle assuming that one of the phases might be non-driving. The calculations were made for complex driving conditions, i.e. simulated changes with predefined steps for road slope (-3.5o to 3.5o), acceleration (-0.36-0.36 m/s2) and average speed (60-140 kmph) for a distance of 2x500 m. The results of calculation variants for each type of a drive system of a car proved that there are significant limitations of optimising the fuel consumption of cars. The first one is conditioned by the fact that the engine works at full dynamic load and the second one by the fact that idle running is against the 'Highway Code'.

The paper describes systems responsible for driving safety of vehicles weighing up to 3.5 t. It is focused on selected failures (fouling) of braking systems that are typical during motor cars operation. Simulation testing regarding effect of selected failures (fouling) of braking system elements on braking force and braking efficiency were performed. In order to perform such testing, author of the paper worked out the methodology of testing which is also described here. The test results (partial) are displayed as tables and charts. The negative effect of selected failures on braking force and braking efficiency index is influencing directly on motor cars driving safety. It is also emphasized that it is important to maintain and observe automotive manufacturers’ technical requirements regarding braking system elements such as tyre pressure, tyre tread condition, brake shoes wear, etc. Basing on the test results it is found that excessive wear of tyres and brake shoes wear could be the reason of significant WSH index decrease resulting in faulty car. This can be visible through lower than allowable level of braking efficiency index WSH, which is the basic legal diagnostic parameter of break system condition assessment. Replacing such elements significantly improves braking efficiency index WSH.

Modern cars are more and more frequently equipped not only with the driver assisting systems, but also with multimedia devices allowing to track the information, use the Internet or send and receive e-mails. This type of activity can cause dangerous situations by inducing various forms of distraction to the driver. In order to identify the effects caused by performing additional tasks while driving, two types of secondary tasks were proposed. The following article presents the results of a pilot study that uses two additional tasks to induce the driver with cognitive load not related to driving. At the same time, in the course of the experiment, both the driving performance and the quality of performing additional tasks were observed. The article describes selected results of the conducted study.

The main objective of this study was to determine the effect of stress of a practical, thirty-hour driving course on changes in salivary cortisol concentration and on changes in systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The second objective was to determine the relation between the style of coping with stress (psychological indicator) and changes in the assessed biological parameters. All volunteers aged 18-30 years completed the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS) before the start of the course. They were divided into control (n=15) and experimental (n=18) groups. In the experimental group saliva samples to measure cortisol were collected from each participant: before the start of the course, before the 1st, 13th and 28th driving hour, and blood pressure was measured before the course, during the 15th and 30th hour of the course. Participants in the control group had one saliva sample taken and their blood pressure was measured once at the same time. The results suggest that cortisol concentration in saliva correlates with the hour of the course. Systolic and diastolic pressure also correlates with the hour of the course. CISS test related differences among the individuals in copying with stress (sex as well as age-related) but they did not correlate with the cortisol and blood pressure responses. A driving course is a stress factor that causes changes in salivary cortisol concentration and systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The style of coping with stress does not correlate with changes in the salivary cortisol concentration during the course. Changes in systolic and diastolic blood pressure during the driving course do not depend on the way of coping with stress.

The paper refers to some problems of a top-of-the-range driving simulator that have been implemented in 27 EU members by Directive 2003/59/EC. The truck simulator from France, Finland, Germany and USA have been stressed. The Mark III Motion-Based Driver Training Simulator combines a fully operational truck cab with the latest digital simulation technology to create life-like training scenarios that improve driving behaviour and skill. Renault has built the simulator, which can offer several truck configurations (tractor, rigid, articulated) with different engine and equipment types. Additionally the TRUST 3000 simulator for Truck Driving Training and BUS 3000 simulator for Bus Driving Training were stressed. A top-of-the-range simulator may play the main role in many training areas, it is clear that the particular requirements of the driving industry must be considered in order to develop optimal cost-effective systems. Preliminary analysis shows that simulation can have a beneficial contribution in the areas of fuel efficient driving, emergency situations, poor weather driving skills, and learning the handling characteristics of different types of load. Authors have determined requirements on a top-of-the-ange driving simulators.

In this paper, selected elements of the theory of the car's motion were presented. It was emphasised that it is extremely important to know the rules of behaviour of a car in curvilinear motion, an example of which is a curve, especially when driving in adverse weather conditions resulting in the significant reduction of the car's traction to the surface. The active electronic stability programme (ESP) of the car's trajectory, its principle of operation and benefits of use were briefly discussed. The next part was to present the basics of the mechanics of a vehicle's motion, especially the forces acting on a car during its stop phase, the forces acting on the curve of the road. On this basis, the basic equilibrium equations were presented, which in turn led to defining the correlation for determining the so-called safe speed of driving in circular motion, which also guarantees the impossibility of the cars skidding. In the further part, the calculations, in accordance with the BMW 320d car's data were made. Hypothetically, it was assumed that this car might have only a front-wheel drive, only a rear-wheel drive or a four-wheel drive. The idea was to check to what extent the type of drive has an impact on the achieved value of the safe speed of driving in the circular motion with a minimum turning radius for this vehicle. The article was completed with short conclusions, in which the importance of the electronic stability programme (ESP) of the car's trajectory was emphasised.

The first aim of this study was to investigate Chinese drivers’ preferences to risk-taking behaviors encountered in daily life, including safety and health, finance, recreation, social areas, and ethics. The second aim was to evaluate the association between Chinese risky driving and other risk-taking behaviors. A questionnaire survey was conducted with the 324 Chinese drivers who responded. Through a principal component analysis an 8-factor structure was created to interpret different domains of risk-taking behaviors. They were risks in driving, ethics, recreation, gambling, abused health (voluntarily engaging in smoking and binge drinking), investment, ignored health (ignoring personal health, such as eating expired food), and monetary social areas. The result of multiple regression analysis showed that drivers who were likely to engage in driving risks were also likely to take risks in domains of ethics, abused health, gambling, investment, recreation, and ignored health.

Due to the safety of road traffic, the study of visual performance of drivers in real life conditions is often very difficult or downright impossible. Vehicle driving simulators turn out to be excellent testing equipment in such situations. A static driving simulator of a medium class passenger vehicle for carrying out drivers' visual performance test in nighttime conditions was built in the laboratory of the Lighting Technology and Electroheat Department of the Poznan University of Technology. During the tests a necessity was identified to formulate recommendations and guidelines on measuring drivers' visual performance with the use of a car driving simulator. The article presents the examination procedure and the results of research aiming to determine the criteria and conditions of carrying out examinations of drivers' visual performance with the use of a car driving simulator.

The article deals with the problems connected with road traffic safety highlighting driver’s ability to notice an untypical obstacle in the light of low beam headlights while driving in the night. Visibility of an unlit object during the night is not only related to its motion but also to the necessity of its being lit to up to the required minimum height. On the basis of a study of a road accident, it was found that the standards accepted in reconstruction of the accident for determination of the light beam height to be used for lighting an obstacle should not be taken for granted. The driver’s surprise at the sight of an unlit obstacle is accompanied with the need to direct the light beam higher, which causes shortening of the distance available for a driver to react in an attempt to avoid hitting into an obstacle. An analysis of this case shows that verification of road accidents involving a crash with an untypical, incompatible obstacle that happen during the night needs to be carried out with attention and care. A simulation program V-SIM4 version and Ratschbacher AutoView database was used for calculation of the possibility to avoid an accident. The results obtained on the basis of the authors own investigations can also be used in information campaigns, education for road safety improvement and development of proper attitudes of the road traffic users.

The paper presents theoretical evaluation of the effect of operating parameters on electric vehicle energy consumption and driving range. The objective of this study was to analyse the effect of temperature (at constant pressure) and traction properties on the energy consumption and driving range related to it of a chosen electric vehicle. The test methods assumed the analysis of parameters of the test object based on a simulation model. The evaluation involved a Nissan Leaf vehicle equipped with an electric motor, the torque characteristic curve of which was used in the test model. The values of basic and additional resistance to motion for the adopted conditions: external temperature and pressure-dependent air density, and vehicle technical parameters, such as its weight, capacitance of batteries, vehicle dimensions, type of drive system, drag coefficient and tyre dimensions, were determined. Basing on these data and the characteristic curve of engine torque, electric vehicle energy consumption and driving range were determined. The following relationships were obtained because of the analysis: vehicle energy consumption / vehicle driving range and external temperature, vehicle energy consumption / vehicle driving range and vehicle acceleration, vehicle energy consumption / vehicle driving range and acclivity slope. It was proven that the operating parameters could considerably increase the energy consumption and the driving range of an electric vehicle.

Most vehicles are powered by internal combustion engines. Due to the nature of their operation they emit, among others, carbon dioxide which contributes to the greenhouse effect. CO2 production is strictly correlated with fuel consumption. The article presents the results of road tests of a passenger car with a spark-ignition engine meeting the Euro 6 emission norm. The test vehicle was equipped with a classic exhaust gas aftertreatment system – a three-way catalytic converter. The aim of the study was to verify the impact of the cruise control use on the vehicle fuel consumption. The measurements were based on Portable Emission Measurement System type mobile equipment for exhaust emission tests. The tests were carried out in real driving conditions travelling on an express way. Test drives took place on a route with variable topographic profile. Three test drives with different speeds were carried out, but the aim was to obtain an average speed of 130 km/h.

In dynamic conditions, the functional properties of internal combustion (IC) engines in steady thermal state depend on time histories of the quantities that characterize the intensity of engine operation. For the automotive engine, the most important process that determines the engine operation is the vehicle speed process. To evaluate the impact of the conditions of operation of motor vehicles on the properties of their IC engines, the investigation of passenger car speed processes in the conditions of typical vehicle use was taken up. The recorded speed vs. time curves were treated as realizations of stochastic processes and basic characteristics of the processes were determined. The vehicle motion was modelled as motion in the street congestion, urban, extra-urban, and high-speed traffic conditions. Based on empirical tests and analyses carried out, sets of passenger car speed vs. time curves have been proposed as realizations of model processes representing the vehicle motion in the conditions under consideration.
Właściwości użytkowe siników spalinowych zależą w warunkach dynamicznych w ustabilizowanych stanie cieplnym silnika od przebiegów wielkości charakteryzujących intensywność pracy silnika. W silniku samochodowym najważniejszym procesem determinującym jego pracę jest prędkość pojazdu. W celu oceny wpływu warunków użytkowaniu pojazdów samochodowych na właściwości silników spalinowych zajęto się badaniem procesów prędkości samochodów osobowych w warunkach ich typowego użytkowania. Zarejestrowane przebiegi prędkości potraktowano jako realizacje procesów stochastycznych i wyznaczono dla nich podstawowe charakterystyki. Ruch pojazdów modelowano jako ruch w zatorach ulicznych (kongestie), w miastach, poza miastami i na trasach szybkiego ruchu. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań empirycznych i analiz zaproponowano zbiory przebiegów prędkości samochodu osobowego, stanowiące realizacje procesów modelujących ruch pojazdów w rozpatrywanych warunkach.

This paper provides characteristics of the evacuation and technical rescue heavy vehicles. Heavy tactical evacuation and technical rescue vehicles are built on the chassis of tactical vehicles with high loading capacity, generally with8x8 driving system. In each analysed case, the vehicles are one of the family members of the tactical heavy-duty vehicles. Evacuation equipment of such vehicles is as follows: main winch, arm or towing device, and lifting equipment. A domestically manufactured vehicle, developed under the project No. 356/BO/1, was presented. The testing process that such type of vehicles, including the above mentioned, are subject to have been discussed herein. Revision of parameters received and as specified in the requirements and relevant standards enforces an adequate scope of testing. In the case of the MAMUT vehicle, the following requirements have been checked: structural design, engine, driving system, cab, main winch, auxiliary winch, winch for self-recovery, hydraulic crane, hydraulic hoisting and towing equipment, power generator, electrical system, safety, ergonomics and technical aesthetics, specialist equipment, secret camouflage, and transportability.

This paper presents the results of measurements of attitudes towards a demonstrative virtual-reality railway simulator for eco-driving techniques training. This device has been prepared for InnoTrans 2016 railway trade fair, and during this exhibition 144 railway professionals from 35 countries took part in the simulation and filled a questionnaire about their experience and whether they found this type of simulator a viable choice for railway driver training. The results have been very positive with barely any negative answers. This shows that a VR-based railway simulator could potentially be used as a low-cost solution supporting energy efficient train driving.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to verify whether simultaneous responses from the muscular and circulatory system occur in the driver's body under simulated conditions of a crash threat. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out in a passenger car driving simulator. The crash was included in the driving test scenario developed in an urban setting. In the group of 22 young male subjects, two physiological signals - ECG and EMG were continuously recorded. The length of the RR interval in the ECG signal was assessed. A HRV analysis was performed in the time and frequency domains for 1-minute record segments at rest (seated position), during undisturbed driving as well as during and several minutes after the crash. For the left and right side muscles: m. trapezius (TR) and m. flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS), the EMG signal amplitude was determined. The percentage of maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) was compared during driving and during the crash. Results: As for the ECG signal, it was found that in most of the drivers changes occurred in the parameter values reflecting HRV in the time domain. Significant changes were noted in the mean length of RR intervals (mRR). As for the EMG signal, the changes in the amplitude concerned the signal recorded from the FDS muscle. The changes in ECG and EMG were simultaneous in half of the cases. Conclusion: Such parameters as mRR (ECG signal) and FDS-L amplitude (EMG signal) were the responses to accident risk. Under simulated conditions, responses from the circulatory and musculoskeletal systems are not always simultaneous. The results indicate that a more complete driver's response to a crash in road traffic is obtained based on parallel recording of two physiological signals (ECG and EMG).

Interactions between road users, motor vehicles, and environment affect to driver’s travel behavior; however, frailer of proper interaction may lead to ever-increasing road crashes, injuries and fatalities. The current study has generated the green driver concept to evaluate the incorporation of green driver to negative outcomes reduction of road transportation. The study aimed to identify the green driver’s behaviors affecting safe traveling by engaging two research phases. Phase one was to identify the safe driving behaviors using Systematic literature review and Content Analysis methods. Phase one identified twenty-four (24) sub-factors under reckless driving behaviors cluster, and nineteen (19) sub-factors under safe driving practice cluster. Second phase was to establish the actual weight value of the sub-factors using Grounded Group Decision Making (GGDM) and Value Assignment (VA) methods, in order to determine the value impact of each sub-factor to green driving. Phase two resulted that sub-factors Exceeding speed limits (DB f2.2.) and Driver’s cognitive and motor skills (SD f1.2.2.) have received highest actual values, 0.64 and 0.49, respectively; ranked as the High contributor grade. Contrary, the sub-factors Age cognitive decline (DB f1.2.) and Competitive attitude (DB f1.2.), and Avoid gear snatching (SD f1.1.4.) have the lowest actual values; and ranked in low-contribution grade. The rest of the sub-factors have ranked in medium-contribution grade. The research also found out drivers’ personalities (included, physical and psychological characteristics) remains unaccountable and non-measureable yet in driver travel behavior assessment models. The study outputs would be used in development of Green Driver Index Assessment Model.

The demand for electric vehicles is high due to the fact of their low travel costs. Meanwhile, an increase in the car driving range is expected. Hence, this paper examines different concepts related to driving a battery electric vehicle. The driving scenarios were divided into two parts. The first part consisted of four stages: driving in a mixed cycle, charging the battery, driving a very short distance, and driving distances that were within the maximum theoretical range of the batteries. The second part involved driving a distance until the range extender system was activated. The outcomes of these experimental investigations are described and the key findings are presented in the discussion.
Popyt na pojazdy elektryczne jest duży ze względu na niskie koszty podróży. Jednocześnie spodziewany jest wzrost zasięgu. Dlatego w niniejszym artykule przeanalizowano różne koncepcje związane z prowadzeniem pojazdu elektrycznego. Scenariusze jazdy zostały podzielone na dwie części. Pierwsza część składała się z czterech etapów: jazdy w cyklu mieszanym, ładowania pakietu bateryjnego, przejazdu bardzo krótkiego odcinka oraz przejazdu odcinków o różnej długości, mniejszej niż maksymalny zasięg teoretyczny. Druga część polegała na przejechaniu odcinka do momentu aktywacji systemu REx. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań zostały zaprezentowane, a kluczowe ustalenia przedstawiono w sekcji dyskusji.

Paper describes possibilities to use advanced vehicles simulator combined with additional supporting research devices for measuring drivers' behaviour. Analyzing drivers' behaviour with driving simulators is a rapidly growing field of research, which also demands the interdisciplinary approach from different science disciplines like psychology and simulation engineering. Paper presents modern research methods in transport safety researches and devices that are used to understand better driver's behaviour inside the driving simulator, e.g. Vienna Test System and mobile eye-tracker. Paper also explains a problem of simulator sickness that frequently occurs during the studies inside the driving simulators. Main advantage of using simulators is possibility to achieve full standardization of research conditions. Visualization system based on set of four projectors and cylindrical screen with 200 degrees of vision range, which allows to completely cover the range of sight of the driver to enhance driving reality. The view in the car mirrors is presented on three LCD screens which sizes are very close to the mirrors used in real car mirrors. The scenery generated by computer simulation is moving according to the car speed in the simulation. Similarly to the passenger car simulator, simulator of truck and bus is build based on visualization system which is composed of cylindrical screen, with two hundred degrees of horizontal range of view. Simulator gives the ability to trace functioning of few different types of vehicles.

Climate change and the associated global warming affect all of us. These changes cause the melting of the glaciers and consequently the increase in sea and ocean levels. This phenomenon threatens the existence of some of the island states. The warming casing all this was brought on by the economic activity of humans, with the greatest responsibility being attributed to the ever-increasing production of greenhouse gases. Transport generates large portion of these gases. When means of transport are in motion, they are affected by certain driving resistances which try to keep vehicle from moving. In order to overcome them, it is necessary to produce certain useful work equivalent to the measurement of driving resistances. An internal combustion motor is the most frequent source of such energy. It generates energy by oxygenating hydrocarbon fuels, and in addition to the useful work, it produces also unfavourable emission. The amount of such emissions equals to the amount of burnt fuel. Thus, levels of emissions can drop by reducing fuel consumption. The most commonly mentioned gas is the CO2. Reduction of CO2 production is essential to affect the high level of CO2. The article focuses on the possibilities of reducing CO2 from road transport. The possibilities of reducing CO2 from road transport are quantified in the form of mathematical model calculations.

In the assumptions, regarding to the transport policy both at the level of country and Europe there is the concept of sustainable development of transport. Warsaw University of Technology in cooperation with Poznan University of Technology performs research work concerning the shaping of environmentally friendly transport system – Project EMITRANSYS. In this project, one of the conditions is to reduce exhaust emissions by means of transport. The paper presents the reasons for the testing of the exhaust emissions under Real Driving Emissions testing (RDE). Research potential of Institute of Combustion Engines and Transport at Poznan University of Technology in the area of road testing of passenger and heavy-duty vehicles has been presented in the paper. Example test results have been shown in the aspect of the emission-related classification of vehicles. The major challenge of worldwide emission standards, engine operating parameters in various emissions tests, the test potential under real operating conditions, the view of the analyser for on-road emission testing of vehicles, the test results for road emission of CO, HC and NOx, detailed characteristics of the averaged particle number for the entire test run (vehicles with different mileage and different emission class) for: Euro 4 class and 75,000 km; Euro 4 class and 500,000 km; Euro 5 class and 75,000 km; Euro 5 class and 500,000 km are presented in the paper.

Passenger cars are a means of transportation used widely for various purposes. The category that a vehicle belongs to is largely responsible for determining its size and storage capacity. There are situations when the capacity of a passenger vehicle is not sufficient. On the one hand, this insufficient capacity is related to a paucity in the space needed for stowing luggage. It is possible to mount a rooftop cargo carrier or a roof basket on the roof of a vehicle. If a vehicle is equipped with a towbar, a towbar cargo carrier can be used for improving its space capacity. These accessories, however, offer limited additional space, and the maximal load is determined by the maximal payload of the concerned vehicle. If, on the other hand, there is a requirement for transporting a load with a mass or dimensions that are greater than what could be supported using these accessories, then, provided the vehicle is equipped with a towbar, a trailer represents an elegant solution for such demanding requirements. A standard flat trailer allows the transportation of goods of various characters, such as goods on pallets, bulk material, etc. However, the towing of a trailer changes the distribution of the loads, together with changes of loads of individual axes of the vehicle–trailer axles. The distribution of the loads is one of the key factors affecting the driving properties of a vehicle–trailer combination in terms of driving stability, which is mainly a function of the distribution of the load on the trailer. This research introduces a study into how the distribution of the load on a trailer influences the driving stability of a vehicle–trailer combination. The research activities are based on simulation computations performed in a commercial multibody software. While the results presented in the article are reached for a particular vehicle–trailer combination as well as for a particular set of driving conditions, the applicability of the findings can also be extended more generally to the impact that the load distributions corresponding to various vehicle–trailer combinations have on the related parameters and other driving properties.

Ensuring the effectiveness of adaptive algorithms for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) requires online recognition of driving styles. The article discusses studies carried out during real driving cycles based on the GPS parameters and OBD system data of a hybrid vehicle. The work focuses on the search for measures of the speed and acceleration signals of the car and the measures determined on their basis that best describe the driving style responsible for the vehicle traffic safety and ecological safety. Relations between the type of driver, driving dynamics, and fuel consumption were studied. The driver's categorization was based on a statistical analysis of input signals and mean tractive force (MTF) by clustering.

The purpose of this study was to analyse the possibility of using information from the On Board Diagnostics (OBD) system of the vehicle to determine the characteristics of the driver's driving style. Available data from the OBD system were considered and the most useful ones were selected for further investigation. Selected zero-dimensional characteristics of vehicle velocity as well as characteristics of relative position of the accelerator pedal were proposed as criteria for the assessment of driving style. The tests were carried out in conditions of real road traffic using a passenger car with a spark-ignition engine. The car was equipped with a device for recording signals from the OBD system. The tests included two drivers traveling on routes in the urban and rural areas. The obtained results were used to analyse the driving style of both drivers separately in the considered traffic conditions. On this basis, conclusions on the suitability of information from the OBD system for the assessment of the driver's driving style were formulated.

W pracy przedstawiono analizę współpracy układu koło napędowe-droga leśna w aspekcie strat energetycznych wynikających z poślizgu. Badania przeprowadzono na gruntowej drodze leśnej zlokalizowanej w Leśnictwie Nowa Wieś Książęca. Do badań użyto opony napędowe o rozmiarach 9.5-24 oraz 7.5-16. Pomiary przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem specjalistycznego stanowiska do badan trakcyjnych w warunkach polowych. Badania wykazały, że najwyższe wartości sił napędowych i sprawności analizowane opony uzyskiwały przy poślizgu poniżej 15%. Dalszy wzrost poślizgu przejawiał się znacznym wzrostem strat energetycznych.
The paper presents an analysis of cooperation in the drive wheel - forest road arrangement in the aspect of energy losses resulting from slip. The tests were carried out on a soil-surfaced forest road located in the Forest Administration Region of Nowa Wieś Książęca. Drive wheel tyres sized 9.5-24 and 7.5-16 were used in the tests. Measurements were carried out using specialist setup for traction tests in field conditions. The research has shown that highest values of driving forces and efficiency are reached by the analysed tyres at slip under 15%. Further slip growth was accompanied by a significant increase in energy losses.

The constant development of geotechnical technologies imposes the necessity of monitoring techniques to provide a proper quality and the safe execution of geotechnical works. Several monitoring methods enable the preliminary design of work process and current control of hydrotechnical works (pile driving, sheet piling, ground improvement methods). Wave parameter measurements and/or continuous histogram recording of shocks and vibrations and its dynamic impact on engineering structures in the close vicinity of the building site enable the modification of the technology parameters, such as vibrator frequency or hammer drop height. Many examples of practical applications have already been published and provide a basis for the formulation of guidelines, for work on the following sites. In the current work the author’s experience gained during sheet piling works for the reconstruction of City Channel in Wrocław (Poland) was presented. The examples chosen describe ways of proceedings in the case of new and old residential buildings where the concrete or masonry walls were exposed to vibrations and in the case of the hydrotechnical structures (sluices, bridges).

Article describes advanced high class research simulator of passenger car with complete inside equipment including adjustable driver seat, steering wheel, dashboard, gear selector, accelerator pedal, brake and clutch, parking brake etc. Simulator is based on six axis motion platform and original vehicle cabin adapted from Opel Astra IV body, purchased by Motor Transport Institute. Furthermore, simulator is equipped with dedicated devices which allow conducting research on driver's behaviour which is not possible to conduct in real traffic situations due to the safety issues. Researcher can record parameters related to driver's activities, which could be next analyzed and combined with data received from other external instruments. AS1200-6 can be used also for drivers training in dangerous conditions e.g. learning how to react to the abnormal behaviour of other road users or pedestrians and learning how to drive in different weather conditions. This paper gives an overview of the hardware and software components as well as of the research possibilities that are aimed at making transportation safe and clean. The results of the research are very important especially for the road safety. The simulator enables simulation of dangerous traffic situation in the safe virtual environment.

In the era of the rapid development of motorization one of the most important characteristics of transport vehicles is the safety and comfort of their drivers and passengers. In particular, people driving vehicles professionally are exposed to vibrations, which may adversely affect their bodies, causing discomfort, dysfunctions, and even lesions of disease. The vibration level triggered by the system a road – a vehicle depends on the type and profile of the road surface as well as the driving speed. Vibration levels are assessed by means of characteristics and comfort comparative indexes determined by experimental methods. Attempts at assessing the comfort while driving along paved roads may be found in many publications; however, there is a lack of information on testing vehicles moving in off-road conditions, which is substantial from the point of view of military vehicle crews’ comfort. The driving comfort of crews of wheeled vehicles is subjected to examinations at the Military Institute of Armored and Automotive Technology.

Opis:
The extortions that result in the vibrations of a hull of the combat vehicle have an impact on the tracked combat vehicle during the off-road driving. They may have a negative impact on the crew, internal equipment, shooting accuracy. A level of the hull loads depends on quality of the suspension system, which main responsibility consists in minimising an amplitude of the vibrations. Therefore, it is necessary both to improve a structure of the suspension system, and its components, as well as their optimisation. The tests of the driving smoothness of the vehicle and quality of the suspension elements can be realised both within a frame of the model tests and while driving in the real conditions. The assessment criteria of the driving smoothness are directly related to the negative influence of the vibrations to the human body. The suspension quality should be assumed both upon an execution of the vehicle prototype, and during the design or modernisation phase. It results both in reducing the time, and minimisation of the costs and risk related to the structure development. The model tests enable to evaluate the driving smoothness and comfort prior to an execution of the prototype. The tests on the test tracks in the final phase of the development are carried out in order to evaluate the driving smoothness.

W referacie omówiono budowę prototypu symulatora jazdy samochodem. Przedstawiono model bryłowy urządzenia, zaproponowano rozwiązanie jego kinematyki w celu określenia wysuwu siłowników napędowych w funkcji przemieszczenia kątowego poszczególnych jego członów. Przedstawiono zagadnienia dotyczące wirtualnego prototypowania w celu wyznaczenia trajektorii ruchu i wielkości dynamicznych charakteryzujących symulator. Omówiono budowę układu sterowania przy zastosowaniu dedykowanej komputerowej karty sterującej.
The paper presents a prototype of driving simulator. A model of solid devices was proposed. Also, there was proposed the kinematics solution to determine the extension actuator drive as a function of the angular displacement of each of its members. The problems concerning virtual prototyping were shown in order to determine the trajectory and size of dynamic simulator. The construction of the control system using a dedicated computer control card was discussed.

Opis:
Cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) for human and autonomous self-driving aims to achieve active safe driving that avoids vehicle accidents or traffic jam by exchanging the road traffic information (e.g., traffic flow, traffic density, velocity variation, etc.) among neighbor vehicles. However, in CACC, the butterfly effect is encountered while exhibiting asynchronous brakes that easily lead to backward shock-waves and are difficult to remove. Several critical issues should be addressed in CACC, including (i) difficulties with adaptive steering of the inter-vehicle distances among neighbor vehicles and the vehicle speed, (ii) the butterfly effect, (iii) unstable vehicle traffic flow, etc. To address the above issues in CACC, this paper proposes the mobile edge computing-based vehicular cloud of the cooperative adaptive driving (CAD) approach to avoid shock-waves efficiently in platoon driving. Numerical results demonstrate that the CAD approach outperforms the compared techniques in the number of shock-waves, average vehicle velocity, average travel time and time to collision (TTC). Additionally, the adaptive platoon length is determined according to the traffic information gathered from the global and local clouds.

Artykuł prezentuje wyniki symulacji komputerowych nowych układów napędowych przeznaczonych do akumulatorowych lokomotyw kopalnianych o masie 12 ton. Analizy napędu dokonano z zastosowaniem silnika szeregowego prądu stałego, wykorzystywanego powszechnie w obecnie używanych lokomotywach oraz z silnikami prądu zmiennego asynchronicznym klatkowym i synchronicznym z magnesami trwałymi. Przedstawiono uzyskane na drodze symulacji parametry elektryczne i mechaniczne lokomotywy wyposażonej w powyższe typy napędów oraz dokonano porównania uzyskanych wyników. Przedstawione w artykule wyniki symulacji różnych typów układów napędowych lokomotywy pozwalają na dokonanie wyboru typu napędu podczas modernizacji lokomotyw kopalnianych.
The article features the results of a computer simulation of new driving systems designed for 12-tonnes accumulator mine locomotives. The analysis of the drive was conducted with the use of a DC series motor which is commonly applied in locomotives today and with the use of AC motors: an asynchronous squirrel cage motor and a synchronous motor with permanent magnets. The author presented the electrical and mechanical parameters, obtained in the course of the simulation, of a locomotive equipped with the above different types of driving systems. Then the results were compared. The presented simulation results of different locomotive driving systems allow to select a type of a driving system during the modernization of mine locomotives.

The article presents the results of the assessment of the impact of Eco-driving on the operation of vehicles. In the first part of the work, Eco-driving was characterized, then the results of the analysis and experimental studies of the discussed system were presented. Volvo v 70 and Renault Scenic were used for the tests. The article ends with a summary and the wording of the conclusions.

Opis:
An energy method for the position stability analysis of critical points (equilibrium positions) of dynamical systems with an arbitrary finite number of degrees of freedom is presented. The method proposed consists in the analysis of the potential energy balance of a perturbation of an arbitrary number of generalised co-ordinates of the dynamical system in order to establish the energy stability of individual degrees of freedom and of the whole system. In the case of mechanical systems, the position stability criterion, understood as minimisation of loads of driving systems with conservative forces, is discussed. Some examples of application of the method to the position stability analysis of critical points of one- and two-degree-of-freedom systems are analysed.
W artykule przedstawiono metodę energetyczną analizy stateczności punktów krytycznych (położeń równowagi) układów dynamicznych o dowolnej skończonej liczbie stopni swobody. Proponowana metoda polega na analizie bilansu energii potencjalnej zaburzenia dowolnej liczby współrzędnych uogólnionych układu dynamicznego w celu określenia stateczności energetycznej poszczególnych stopni swobody oraz całego układu. W przypadku układów mechanicznych przedstawiono kryterium stateczności w sensie minimalizacji obciążeń układów napędowych siłami zachowawczymi. Przedstawiono przykłady zastosowania metody dla celów analizy stateczności punktów krytycznych układów o jednym i dwóch stopniach swobody.

This study’s objective was to determine the level of safety measures used in mobile robot prepared for teleoperation tasks in long distances and harsh environment. The vehicle under test was six-wheeled Mars rover equipped with robotic arm, designed to compete in URC (University Rover Challenge). The analysis has been subjected to the following: communication system, performance of onboard computer and emergency stop system. Communication system has been tested for message exchange speed under various data transmission protocols. Link between base station and mobile robot has immediate influence on onboard computer performance. Emergency stop is an indispensable part of hardware and software, it was tested in different state of the robot to ensure it robustness. This study demonstrates that for the teleoperation control, the UDP protocol is suitable for communication while at the same time allows to maintain low usage of a computing power at the on-board computer.

Article shows analysis of implemented telematic system FleetBoard in transportation company X. The values of gauges were evaluated, there generated in monthly reports. The gauges include such as criteria like: driving style, difficulty to use, distance, average weight, average of fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, average of speed and other. Each of report concerns of one truck and semi-trailer. Research include data and information for monthly reports for 12 trucks from six months, which splitted to two three month duration parts. The aim of article is affirm or override hypothesis: Include ecodriving contribute to improvement exploitation transportation fleet. The article witch splitted to two parts. First parts shows review of literature, second parts contains results of conducted analysis, scores and conclusions.

In a 2017 landmark reform, Saudi authorities decided to lift the ban on women driving in this conservative society. In tribute to women's newly-gained freedom to drive, major automakers turned to Twitter to launch creative femvertising campaigns that vividly articulate the female empowering motto 'driving is feminine'. Building on the eloquence of visual rhetoric, which combines the communicative force of figurative language with the expressive potential of visual imagery, automobile advertisers resorted to visual metaphtonymy to efficiently target prospective female consumers. The selection of this visual compound, which emerges from the intricate interplay between metaphor and metonymy, allows for a dynamic interaction between the highlighting function of metonymy and the mapping role of metaphoric thought to establish informed parallels between femininity and automobility. Analysis of survey data on the likeability, complexity and effectiveness of a representative sample of four digital automobile advertisements asserts the role and value of visual metaphtontonymy in automobile femvertising.

During our research, we focus on a less researched area in the development of autonomous vehicles. Automotive industry is turning more and more from conventional, internal combustion engine equipped vehicles to the electric cars. Today, electric driving is mostly limited to urban traffic, this is the area where range and refueling limits can be a real alternative. However, it is important to think of those who intend to use vehicle in longer distances, and hybrid technology can provide them a modern, environmentally conscious way of transport. In this article, we describe the method of creating the fuel consumption influencing factors matrix, which is the starting point of our research. We studied relevant researches and based on refueling studies we created the matrix. Based on results of real tests, we determined the factor mix that are the basis of our fuel consumption prediction model. These results will be inputs of planning routes of autonomous vehicles with optimized refueling and fuel consumption.

Mobile police officers perform many of their daily duties in their vehicles. Combined workspace inflexibility and prolonged driving create potential musculoskeletal injury risks. Limited research exists that quantitatively describes postural and load exposures associated with mobile police work. The purpose of this study was to characterize officer activity during a typical workday and identify opportunities for ergonomic intervention. Digital video of traffic officers (N = 10) was used to classify postures according to work activity. Cumulative time in 10 activities was calculated, and a time-history of driver activity documented. Most (55.5 ± 13.4%) time was out of the vehicle, and 22.3 ± 10.5% was spent in single-arm driving. On paper documentation and mobile data terminal use were identified as in-car activities that may benefit from targeted interventions. The primary contribution of this study is characterization of daily mobile police activity and the identification of possible intervention strategies to mitigate physical exposure levels.

Omówione zostały zasady jazdy wchodzące w skład stylu prowadzenia pojazdu w sposób przyjazny środowisku oraz obecne wymogi związane z uzyskaniem nowego prawa jazdy kategorii B. Artykuł zawiera także propozycje przykładowego programu szkolenia wykorzystującego wysokiej klasy symulator samochodowy w celu skutecznego nauczenia oraz zweryfikowania stosowania wytycznych eco-drivingu przez przyszłych adeptów ośrodków szkolenia kierowców.
The article presents an analysis and assessment of the tests suitability of using advanced passenger cabin vehicle simulator to verify the application of using eco-driving guidelines by drivers. The guidelines that make up the style of the vehicles driving in an environmentally friendly way and the present requirements for obtaining a new license B category will discussed. This article contains proposition of example training program that use the high class vehicle simulator for effective teach and verify the eco-driving guidelines for future students of driver training centers.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych wśród kierowców zawodowych. Przeprowadzone ankiety dotyczyły oceny skuteczności oraz zasadności zastosowania systemów wspomagających pracę kierowcy, które wpływają głównie na komfort jazdy, ale pośrednio mają również wpływ na bezpieczeństwo, która została dokonana przez kierowców zawodowych. Badanymi systemami były tempomat i tempomat adaptacyjny.
The security of the transport service is one of the key elements of the business. This article presents the results of surveys conducted among professional drivers. The questionnaires concerned the assessment of the effectiveness and appropriateness of the driver-assisted driving systems that primarily affect driving comfort, but indirectly also affect the safety of drivers. The tested systems were cruise control system and adaptive cruise control.

The article aims to illustrate the process of obtaining permission to drive vehicles in Poland. Statutory conditions for participation in the training of candidates for drivers and the procedure for taking the state examination were presented. A lot of attention has been focused on the examination process. Presented the course of the examination procedure for the theoretical and practical. Were discussed in detail the tasks required exam. Because of the breadth and diversity of the examination procedure, the procedure is discussed in the basic category ,,B”.

The last 20 years have seen a tremendous growth in mobile computing and wireless communications and services. An experimental study was conducted to explore the effect of text/background color on a laptop computing system along with variable environmental vibration on operators’ data entry task performance in moving automobiles. The operators’ performance was measured in terms of the number of characters entered per minute without spaces (NCEPMWS) on a laptop computing system. The subjects were divided into 3 categories, namely, Novices, Intermediates and Experts. Findings suggest a re-evaluation of existing laptop designs taking ergonomics into consideration. It appears that proper selection of text/background color on the laptop coupled with controlled vehicular speed could result in a better quality of interaction between human and laptops and it could also resolve the problem of poor data entry task performance.

Correct and secure position of a multitasking device inside watercourse is the basis of regenerative technology to shape the open watercourses. The article describes the ways to drive a device when performing basic operations related to holistic treatment of reclamation, beginning from the placing the device into the watercourse through the work and avoidance of the obstacles inside the watercourse, and ending with the removal of the device beyond the watercourse.
Podstawą nowej technologii regeneracyjnego kształtowania otwartych cieków wodnych jest prawidłowe i bezpieczne umiejscowienie urządzenia wielozadaniowego wewnątrz cieku wodnego. W artykule przedstawiono sposoby prowadzenia urządzenia podczas wykonywania podstawowych operacji związanych z całościowym zabiegiem melioracji, od wprowadzania urządzenia do cieku wodnego, pracę i omijanie przeszkód wewnątrz cieku, aż do wyprowadzania urządzenia poza ciek wodny.

There are a lot of activities world-wide, aimed at increasing road safety. According to the statistics, young novice drivers are at the highest risk of being involved in crashes, and more often than other age groups, cause danger on the road. A proper driving education of teenagers and young persons may contribute to a decrease of accident risk. One of the solutions is accompanied driving, which currently exists in 17 European countries, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand. It allows a driver to start driver training before he or she has reached the legal age for receiving a driving license. Currently, a draft of national law concerning drivers, which introduces accompanied driving, is being considered in Poland. This study concerns drafting of the new regulations, and it constitutes a proposal of methodological and organizational solutions of accompanied driving, trainings and preparation of people participating in it in Poland. The study describes the role of accompanying person as a lay instructor and as a model for road traffic behaviour.

Najczęstszą przyczyną niepożądanych drgań w pojazdach samochodowych, poza pracą samego silnika napędowego, są zakłócenia związane z ruchem wzdłuż nierównej drogi, drgania wywołane niewyważeniem kół, czy też oporem przepływu powietrza względem nadwozia. Zakresy częstotliwości w jakich występują zjawiska wywołane przez te źródła są różne, różne są też drogi propagacji drgań. Ze względu na bezpieczeństwo w ruchu drogowym, niezwykle istotne wydają się wszelkie inicjatywy zmierzające do redukcji drgań działających na kierowcę, a ze względów zdrowotnych – działających również na pasażerów pojazdów samochodowych. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki mające na celu zidentyfikowanie poziomu drgań ogólnych w samochodzie, działających na kierowcę i pasażerów przy różnych warunkach drogowych. Artykuł stanowi pierwszą z dwóch części.
The most common cause of undesirable vibrations in automotive vehicles, in addition to the operation of the drive motor are interference associated with the movement along a uneven road, vibration caused by unbalance of the wheels, or the air flow resistance relative to the body. The formation of vibration sources may be imposed by structural, technological and operational circumstances. The frequency ranges in which phenomena are caused by these sources are different, there are also different vibration propagation path. Because of the road safety, essential seem to be any initiatives to reduce the vibration on the driver, and for health reasons - also acting on the passengers of motor vehicles. The article presents the results intended to identify the level of overall vibration in the car, acting on the driver and passengers with different road conditions.

The social legislation is a current and political issue in the field of road freight transport. Working conditions for drivers in the EU (including Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland) are governed by Regulation (EC) No 561/2006. Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 - known as the Driving Time Regulation - lays down rules on driving times, breaks and rest periods for drivers of lorries and buses to improve working conditions and road safety. A number of new amendments to this regulation were adopted on 15 July 2020. The aim of this paper is to present the most important changes adopted compared to the previous version of the Regulation. The paper deals with the adopted changes in the following areas: weekly rest periods, secure parking areas, vehicles which are transported by ferry or train and exceeding driving time which may jeopardize road safety. The main purpose of this paper is to summarize and inform researchers, practitioners and all interested parties about the adopted changes in the Regulation, as well as the transport companies responsible for planning and scheduling the working time of drivers and also for preventing unpleasant experiences resulting from possible compliance with the conditions of the Regulation. The adopted changes in Regulation are also illustrated in the figures and table to better understand the differences.

This paper presents the results of tests conducted in real traffic conditions in a mountainous area, taking into account the natural topography characteristics. The tested vehicle was of SUV type (Sport Utility Vehicle) with gasoline and Diesel engine, complying with emission standard Euro 5. Using the portable system for measurement of harmful substances, measurements of pollution emissions were conducted. The results obtained confirmed the substantial changes in the emission of harmful components of exhaust fumes with the change of the road grade. In all considered cases, it was confirmed that with the increasing route grade, the road emissions of all harmful components of exhaust fumes increase, however this increase varies for different pollutants. The most sensitive for spark ignition engines is emission of particulate matter, which is associated mainly with the compression ignition engines. For small changes of the road grade, the most sensitive seems to be road emission of carbon monoxide, for gasoline engines emission of particulate matter is specific, first, to all diesel engines, increase of the road grade to 10% caused on average twofold increase in the emission of harmful components of exhaust gases.

The paper presents up to date state of driving simulators applications in drivers training. It is rather qualitative then quantitative description. Formal recommendations were presented for driving simulator applications as well as brief overview of selected concepts of its designs. Special attention was paid for Polish products. The presented material was illustrated by exemplary products.

The paper describes dynamic load-generating sources and their effects on high-speed tracked vehicles, placed people and equipment within it. The variety of the operation conditions causes a complex dynamic load, both in terms of level, direction and distribution. The effects of the impacts are shown in photographs. It is important to know the level of loads in terms of the development of resistant and safe high-speed tracked vehicles. The selected results of its own researches of high-speed tracked vehicles were presented. research were carried out under conditions similar to those typical for this class of vehicles, both during the rides on the road, the ground and obstacles on the specially constructed for this purpose. The results of research and analysis compare in the form of graphs and the estimated value. The presented scope and methodology allows the multi-variants investigation and estimate the loads of the hall, interior fittings and people in special vehicles and other objects that may be exposed to this type of loads. The presented results of the study confirm the possibility but also the need to load test and analysis of dynamic loads on the vehicle, its crew and equipment within it. Knowing the value of these loads allows for the rational formation of the vehicle structure for obtaining the highest possible technical and combat duration.

The paper discloses opportunities of how information recorded by on-board recorders of flight parameters can be used for investigation of avionic events. An example of the methodical approach is presented of how to verify data acquired from flight recorders, which unambiguously indicates the feasibility of further investigation and analyses of avionic events that may happen to aircrafts. Subsequently the effect of the engine stall is outlined, which enables analysis of those avionic events when the effect of engine(s) stall took place. The paper discloses two cases of avionic events when engine stall was the underlying reason of problems, i.e. when a helicopter entered a stream of exhaust gases produced by a missile launched by that helicopter and when icing of the intake channel occurred in a turbojet engine installed on a helicopter. Investigations of that type are indispensable due to operation constraints and technical conditions of aircrafts operations, where meeting these conditions is the principal requirements in terms of flight safety. This study confirms that opportunities to use data from on-board recorders of flight parameters to find out what was going on with the aircrafts during avionic events are considerable.

The article compares driving test data using the latest legislative proposals applicable to passenger cars. Real Driving Emissions procedures have been introduced in the Commission Regulation (EU) 2016/427. Currently, quantitative RDE requirements have been established to limit emissions from exhaust systems in all operating conditions in accordance with the road emission limits set out in Regulation (EC) No. 715/2007. Several measurements were performed on the same test route in accordance with the RDE test guidelines, which requires a number of criteria to be met. These criteria include the length of the measuring segments, their overall test timeshare, and the dynamic characteristics of the drive. A mobile device for reading the EOBD System information was used to record the engine and vehicle operating parameters during tests. This allowed for the monitoring of parameters such as: load value, engine speed and vehicle velocity. The obtained results were then analysed for their compatibility with the RDE procedure requirements. Despite the same research route, the obtained results were not the same. The analysis also uses the two-dimensional operating time-share characteristics expressed in vehicle velocity and acceleration co-ordinates. As a result, it was possible to compare the dynamic properties, share of operating time and, consequently, to check the validity of conducted drive tests in terms of their practicability and emission values.

This paper presents a method of wireless measurement of pressure and temperature of air in a car wheel with Tire Pressure Monitoring System - one of the modern safety systems used in the automotive industry. The readings were performed on a specially designed test bench. It was described a construction and operating principle of key elements of this test bench allowing work with sensors, TPMS module, reference instruments, and the format of data and correctness of data transmission between TPMS and host computer. The created software for embedded system emulating real on-board computer let to observe the uncorrected sensor readings and the effect of calibration in two points of characteristic.

The main purpose of this paper is to summarize and inform researchers, practitioners and all interested parties about the adopted changes in the Regulation, as well as the transport companies responsible for planning and scheduling the working time of drivers and also for preventing unpleasant experiences resulting from possible compliance with the conditions of the Regulation. The adopted changes in Regulation are also illustrated in the figures and table to better understand the differences.

Badacze od dawna próbują ustalić różnice i podobieństwa między kobietami i mężczyznami w zakresie funkcjonowania w różnych sferach życia. Analizy dotyczą zarówno sposobu funkcjonowania poznawczego, w tym sprawności intelektualnej, jak również społecznego i emocjonalnego. Z punktu widzenia psychologii transportu istotny jest toczący się odwieczny spór pomiędzy kobietami a mężczyznami w zakresie umiejętności prowadzenia pojazdu i zachowania na drodze. Przysłowiowa „kobieta za kierownicą” mężczyznom zazwyczaj kojarzy się pejoratywnie, zdarzają się też kobiety, które dość stanowczo reagują na zbyt pasywną jazdę swoich koleżanek. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi próbę zweryfikowania, czy przekonania oparte na wiedzy "zdroworozsądkowej" mają swoje uzasadnienie empiryczne. W prezentowanych analizach skupiono się na omówieniu niektórych różnic oraz podobieństw między kobietami i mężczyznami w zakresie ich zdolności poznawczych - mechanizmów przetwarzania informacji, takich jak pamięć, uwaga, percepcja, ale również pewnych zmiennych osobowościowych i temperamentalnych, mających wpływ na zachowanie.
Researchers have long been trying to determine the differences and similarities between women and men in terms of functioning in various spheres of life. The analyses concern both cognitive functioning, including intellectual capacity, as well as social and emotional one. From the viewpoint of transport psychology, important is an ongoing age-old dispute between women and men on the driving skills and behaviour. The proverbial "woman behind the wheel" usually brings about negative connotations to men, although there are also women who react quite strongly too passive driving of other women. This article is an attempt to verify whether the conviction based on the knowledge of „common sense” has their empirical justification. The presented analyses focus on discussing some of the differences and similarities between women and men in terms of their cognitive abilities - the mechanisms of information processing, such as memory, attention, perception, but also certain temperament and personality variables affecting behaviour.

Driving style and driver behaviour are important in evaluating city bus drivers. Buses are one of the means of public transportation in cities, used by millions of people. The purpose of this study was to present a model for preliminary classification of driving style of the professional drivers based on averaged maximum values of lateral and longitudinal acceleration recorded during regular work. First, the recorded acceleration values of 69 city bus drivers were analysed. Then, the correlation between the acceleration values and the age and experience of the city bus drivers was examined. Based on the results of the preliminary classification of drivers, extreme values for both lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration (deceleration and acceleration) were obtained by 3 drivers out of the 69 tested. The study also examined the relationship between averaged values of maximum lateral and longitudinal acceleration and driver age and experience. Based on the correlation results, showed that age and the number of years of holding a driver’s license are not significantly related to acceleration. Therefore, the method can be used to analyse drivers regardless of their age and experience.

Vehicle exhaust emissions depend on multiple factors, such as the emission norm, driving parameters (speed, acceleration) or the technical condition of the vehicle. These driving parameters may often depend on the condition of the road infrastructure and other factors influencing road conditions. The article attempted to assess the emissivity during acceleration of a vehicle powered by a compression ignition engine. Mapping the actual values is possible with the use of exhaust emission measurement equipment that operates under the actual operating conditions of a vehicle. Recently, an increase in the use of simulation methods in research of this type has been observed. The authors decided to check the suitability of using road traffic simulation software to estimate the $CO_2$ emissions during vehicle acceleration. The obtained results are promising, because in terms of the emissions of the analyzed exhaust gas component, the simulation results differed from the results obtained during measurements with the use of Portable Emissions Measurement System (PEMS) equipment by less than ±20%.

The introduction of new exhaust emissions norms for motor vehicles forces manufacturers to rely on th new technologies of exhaust gas aftertreatment and emission reduction. The past studies by the authors demonstrated a significant emission of nanoparticles from the gasoline engines with direct fuel injection, especially dangerous for the human health and life. The latest solution is a particulate filter designed for spark ignition engines, introduced in parallel with a norm limiting their number emission. The research conducted within the article concerned testing its effectiveness by measuring the vehicle equipped with and without the filter under real driving conditions. The drive cycle was made in accordance with the requirements of the RDE (Real Driving Emission) standard using PEMS (Portable Emissions Measurement System) equipment. The values of harmful gaseous components and solid particles were measured in terms of mass and number. The comparison of emission results indicated a significant efficiency of the filter in terms of particle weight and number reduction. The dimensional distribution of particle diameters were also analyzed, which changed as a result of the filter. The authors believe that the filter efficiency is the result of much higher temperatures of exhaust gases than in the case of diesel engines, which causes the incineration.

The paper presents computational modelling using the Finite Element Method (FEM) for technological operation of a driving band mounted in a groove of a projectile shell. Exemplary results of analysis for shrapnel cal. 35 mm are given. The analysis showed significant factors influencing the mounting process and a field of residual stresses in a projectile shell. It allowed for determination of mechanical properties of materials of a driving band and a projectile shell as well as of characteristic dimensions of half-finished product of a driving band and a groove in a projectile shell. The obtained investigation results show substantial advantages of such analyses for a design process of new types of gunnery ammunition. Thus, it is possible to optimise the construction and technology, i.e., to minimise the reduced stresses in a field of residual stresses in a projectile shell what limits the possibility of a driving band break (rupture) or cracking a projectile shell inside a barrel during the shot.
W pracy przedstawiono sposób modelowania metodą elementów skończonych (MES) operacji technologicznej osadzania pierścienia wiodącego w rowku skorupy pocisku. Zamieszczono przykładowe wyniki analizy dla pocisku typu szrapnel kal. 35 mm. Analiza pozwoliła wskazać czynniki mające zasadniczy wpływ na przebieg opierścieniania i pole naprężeń szczątkowych w skorupie pocisku. Dzięki temu było możliwe ustalenie wymagań: dla właściwości mechanicznych materiałów pierścienia wiodącego i skorupy pocisku oraz parametrów technologicznych operacji osadzania pierścienia, jak również kształtu i charakterystycznych wymiarów: półwyrobu pierścienia wiodącego i rowka w skorupie pocisku. Otrzymane wyniki badań wskazują na istotne korzyści z prowadzenia tego typu analiz w procesie projektowania nowych wzorów amunicji. Dzięki temu możliwa jest optymalizacja konstrukcji i technologii, polegająca na minimalizacji naprężeń zastępczych w polu naprężeń szczątkowych w skorupie pocisku, która ogranicza możliwość wystąpienia zerwania pierścienia wiodącego lub pęknięcia skorupy pocisku wewnątrz lufy podczas strzału.

The paper deals with coasting as an option of using the vehicle kinetic energy. It highlights the need for changes in the legislation in conjunction with the use of new trends in the management of motor vehicles with regard to safety. The article describes the use of the vehicle is coasting as a part of the driving mode, which leads to the reduction in fuel consumption and in exhaust emission. This solution takes into account all the running resistances and creates a basis for designing appropriate control strategies. These options were analyzed with respect to various drive strategies and kinds of transport.

Podano sposób wykorzystania dostępnej aparatury pomiarowo-analitycznej. Przedstawiono widma amplitudowo-częstotliwościowe sygnałów drganiowych zarejestrowanych przez akcelerometr mocowany w różny sposób w kilku punktach pomiarowych na kadłubach badanych mostów napędowych. Sformułowano wnioski i zalecenia dotyczące dalszych badań.
It has been assessed engine test bench usefulness for vibroacoustic process’s studies which accompany to AMV Rosomak driving axle’s operating. The way of available measurement and analysis equipment utilization has been given. There are presented the amplitude-frequency spectrum of vibration signals registered by accelerometer which is mounted in various ways in a few measuring points on driving axle’s body. The conclusions and recommendations regarding of further studies has been formed.

With the invention of specialized, portable research equipment, construction of which enabled road tests of vehicles, it has become possible to verify benefits ensuing from application of eco-driving rules outside the laboratory – the test stand measurements. Test of the vehicles’ operation in terms of ecology are essential especially in case of toxicity of exhaust gases in dynamic, transient conditions of engine operation. Despite the attempt to reflect those conditions in dynamic research tests, it is not possible for fully reconstruct real conditions of operation of vehicles of different homologation categories. Due to this fact in recent years, the biggest research potential in automotive industry has been focused right on the road tests of vehicles in real traffic conditions. The article presents the results of measurements of exhaust emissions of passenger car in real traffic conditions. The aim of this study was to initial verification how the driving style influences on the carbon dioxide emissions from vehicle engine and fuel consumption. The determinants were the measurements of the concentration of CO2 emitted to the atmosphere from the power unit of the tested vehicle. In the measurements, a portable exhaust emission analyser was used.

The paper explains how information stored in on-board recorders of flight parameters can be used for acceptance tests, also referred to as qualification tests. The disclosed example refers to the An-28 ‘Bryza’ aircraft where an old airscrew was substituted with the new generation Hartzell airscrew of the HC-B5 MP-3D type. The airscrew is an integral part of the driving system for the airscrew propelled aircraft that is provided with the TWD-10B engine. After revamping of the airscrew, the aircraft was named as TWD-10B/PZL-10S. The follow-up investigations were carried out with the aim to find out how much the airscrew substitution affected the alteration of key performance characteristics achieved by the driving unit of the aircraft. The investigations comprised both ground and in-flight tests and have led to determination of the essential characteristics for the engine operation as well as variations of the operational parameters in time. In some cases also so called phase portraits were found out for parameters of the engine operation so that to reflect dynamic properties of the engines. Such investigations are indispensable since the aircrafts are subject to operational limitations and technical conditions that must be mandatory fulfilled due to requirements of flight safety. The paper demonstrates that the data stored in on-board recorders of flight parameters can be really useful for execution of such acceptance (qualification) tests.

Following any type of statistics, the human being (a driver) is the weakest element of the man - vehicle - environment system. The paper discusses research on drivers behaviours in pre-accident situations, conducted in driving simulator auto PW under the research project MNiSzW N509 016 31/1251. Tests have been performed in a staged situation of danger involving unexpected emergence of an roadblock - passenger car into the road area, with a simultaneous limitation of space for making a passing-by manoeuvre on the opposite traffic lane, which was caused by the fact that a delivery vehicle was approaching on the lane. The work presents issues that are related to the preparation of research scenario by realising vehicle traffic in the way assuring the probability of individual tests. Basic featur es of the autoPW car driver simulator have been characterised. The modifications, introduced in the simulator for purposes of the research, have been discussed. Selected research results - the probability diagrams of occurrence ofa specific type of collision, depending on the so-called risk time (potential time that a driver has to avoid the collision), have been presented. The diagrams indicate a clear boundary beyond which avoidance of the collision becomes practically impossible. The results obtained have been compared to results of research being similar in their character, conducted in another research centre.

The aim of the study is to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence of driving instructors with their styles of coping with stress. The study included 100 instructors, 70 of whom were men, whose age ranged between 23 and 69 years of age and 30 women aged between 25 and 55 years old. Instructors job experience was 8 years old. The study used Popular Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire by Jaworowski, Matczak et al. and Questionnaire and Coping with Stressful Situations by Strelau et al. The analysis revealed statistically significant differences between male and female instructors at the average results of the level of emotional control and understanding of emotions. At instructors-business owners it is noted signifi-cantly higher levels of all the features of emotional intelligence than at instruc-tors-workers. Driving instructors, both men as well as women achieved average results in applied styles of coping with stress. The highest level, instructors obtained in the style of coping with stress, concentrated on the task whose outcome was significantly different from other styles.

W niniejszym artykule sformułowano połówkowy model dynamiki zawieszenia platformy gąsienicowej 2S1, w którym obecne są dwa tłumiki magnetoreologiczne o nieliniowej charakterystyce. W badaniach numerycznych, w celu sterowania, wykorzystano sterownik sky-hook operujący na estymowanych zmiennych stanu systemu zawieszenia. Zadanie estymacji przeprowadzono wykorzystując rozszerzony filtr Kalmana. Wobec konwencjonalnych roz-wiązań działanie to pozwala na dokładne odtworzenie zmiennych stanu, opisujących dynamikę systemu zawieszenia oraz redukuje liczbę zmiennych, które muszą być mierzone. Działanie sterowania hybrydowego oraz zastosowanego filtru zweryfikowano na podstawie porównania amplitudy przemieszczeń oraz przyśpieszeń odpowiednich punk-tów.
In this article, the model of the 2S1 tracked suspension system has been formulated. The model contains two magnetorheological dampers. For the numerical stud-ies in order to control, sky-hook strategy has been chosen. The control algorithm uses variables estimated by Extended Kalman Filter. In comparison to conventional solutions this approach allows for accurate estimation of state variables which describe suspension dynamics. Evaluation of control algorithm has been made by comparison of the displacement, angle and acceleration of vehicle, measured in the vertical direction.

This paper presents analysis of conditions of CO2, CO, HC and NOX emissions during engine braking phase invehicles with 1.6 SI engine, based on the results of investigations by Professor Romaniszyn. The analysis aimed to determine the effect of cooling of catalytic converter and engine chamber on emissions of toxins and fuel efficiency in next driving phase. Based on own investigations, the synthesis of fuel consumption under three non-driving conditions of engine operation (i.e. continuous drive, engine braking and drive in neutral) is also presented. Current research centres often carry out extensive investigations of fuel efficiency and emissions of toxic compounds during real use of vehicles. Their results, due to previous assumptions or limitations in the scope of investigations, rarely provide an overall view of the problem. These attempts are typically made in scientific papers and dissertations [1-3]. Selective approach to the problem can be justified by the complexity and varied impact of each phase of engine 's operation on fuel consumption under unsteady heat conditions. Opis:
A novel parallel manipulator with 3 legs (2 actuated by linear actuators and one supporting pillar),which is applied in a wheel loader driving simulator, is proposed in this paper. The roll angle and the pitch angle of the platform are derived in closed-form of functions of the variable lengths of two actuators. The linear velocity and acceleration of the selected point and angular velocity of the moving platform are determined and compared with measurement results obtained in the respective point and in the body of the wheel loader. The differences between the desired and actual actuator displacements are used as feedback to compute how much force to send to the actuators as some function of the servo error. A numerical example with a proposed mechanism as a driving simulator is presented.

W artykule przedstawiono najważniejsze informacje na temat doboru trasy opracowanej na potrzeby badań symulacyjnych dotyczących weryfikacji stosowania wytycznych eco-drivingu przez kierowców pojazdów drogowych. Wskazano w nim między innymi podstawowe kryteria doboru trasy przejazdu dla realizacji przedmiotowych badań w aspekcie jazdy ekologicznej i ekonomicznej. Urządzeniem badawczym był symulator pojazdu samochodowego AutoSim AS 1200-6 wraz z dedykowanym oprogramowaniem.
The article presents the most important information about the selection of the route for the purposes of simulation research concerning the verification of the application of the eco-driving guidelines by the drivers. There are indicated, inter alia, basic criteria for selection of a route for the implementation of objective research in terms of ecologic and economic driving. The research device was a vehicle simulator AutoSim AS 1200-6 with dedicated software.

The paper discloses the analysis of processes that take place during the start-up operation of the driving unit for the training aircraft of the TZL-130 TC-II Turbo-Orlik type. The aircraft is designed for selective and initial trainings at the Air Force School of “Little Eagles” in Dęblin. The driving unit comprises the PT6A-25C turbo-propeller engine from Pratt & Whitney combined with the four-bladed airscrew from Hatzell. It is specifically mentioned that data for the analysis were sourced from the S2-3a on-board recorder of flight parameters manufactured by the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). The analysis was carried out both during ground and flight tests. The paper briefly outlines general structures and operation principles of typical start-up systems with the focus to their key components. Attention is paid to how important it is to select an appropriate start-up system to match the specific aircraft type and the guideline parameters for selection that should be adhered to are specified. Also there are disclosed the key mathematical relationships that are indispensable to design start-up systems and to find out their basic characteristics. It is emphasized that the start-up operation must be considered as a non-stationary process that lasts from the standstill state of the engine until the moment when the minimum required rpm is reached, sufficient to generate necessary power of the engine. In addition, the attention is paid to the fact that the value of the engine acceleration is crucial to the achievable start-up time that is deemed as one of key parameters for all start-up systems. It is demonstrated that to achieve the required level of acceleration, it is necessary to secure the so called overhead of the engine power which needs constant flow offuel and air into the combustion chamber of the engine. The last part of the paper comprises selected characteristic curves that were obtained from the analysis of the engine start-up processes both on ground and in flight. The final conclusions emphasize that the start-up system for the presented driving unit is really efficient and guarantees correct operation of the engine under any conditions.

If we speak about the Smart City’s transport system, autonomous vehicles idea is the first thing that comes to mind. Today, it is strongly believed that the autonomous vehicles’ introduction into the traffic will increase the road safety. However, driverless cars are not the solution by itself. The road safety and, accordingly, sustainability will strongly depend on decision making algorithms inbuilt into the control module. Therefore, the goal of our research is to design and test the data mining algorithm based on Entity–Attribute–Value (EAV) model for decision making in the Intelligent System in the fully- or semi-autonomous vehicles. In this article, we describe the methodology to create 3 main modules of the designed Intelligent System: (1) an Object detection module; (2) a Data analysis module; (3) a Knowledge database built on decision rules generated with the help of our data mining algorithm. To build the Decision Table on the base of the real data, we have tested our algorithm on a simple collection of photos from a Polish two-lane road. Generated rules provide comparable classification results to the dynamic programming approach for optimization of decision rules relative to length or support. However, our decision making algorithm thanks to excluding the mistakes made on the object detection stage, works faster than existing ones with the same level of correctness.

Obecnie pojawia się coraz więcej sposobów, które pozwalają chronić Ziemię. Jednym z nich jest wdrożenie ekologicznej i ekonomicznej koncepcji eco-drivingu. Znalazła ona zastosowanie m.in. w przedsiębiorstwach świadczących usługi transportowe, gdzie jej zasady są przekazywane podczas specjalnych szkoleń dla zawodowych kierowców.
Nowadays, one of the world's challenge are ecological problems. Our planet is destroying by many ways f.e. redundant exploitation of natural resources, clearing tropical forests, emission of greenhouse gases and as well as individual and negative human's behaviours. At present there are many different ways, which can be used to protect the earth. One of them is an implementation of economic and ecological concept, which is called "eco-driving". This idea is using among others in enterprises, which are providing transport services. The company's workers are appreciated with principles rules of theory during special training for professional drivers.

Natural hazards are frequently causing disturbances for different types of infrastructures, in particular for transport systems. Flooding and storm are considered as major threats to these systems. Based on examples of natural hazards’ impact on roads, possible approaches of vulnerability assessment are described. In order to reduce the threats resulting from natural hazards on road transport, appropriate technical countermeasures to increase resilience and robustness for continuous road safety and mobility are necessary. Moreover, the behaviour of the driver is also an important factor to avoid accidents in case of specific weather conditions. Autonomous driving may support a reduction of accidents in the future and, in particular, necessary evacuation processes in cases of wildfires or hurricanes.

This paper presents an original method of synthesizing driving cycles treated as sets of realizations of a stochastic process of car velocity. The proposed method is based on the criterion of similarity of amplitude-frequency characteristics of test and on-road cycles. Because a driving cycle is treated here as a set of realizations of a random process, the method allows not only to determine the values of zero-dimensional characteristics defining the properties of a car, but also to perform probabilistic evaluation of these properties. In the present study, example realizations of the stochastic velocity process were obtained and analyzed using a test based on the amplitude-frequency characteristics of the Federal Test Procedure cycle – FTP-75.
W pracy przedstawiono autorską metodę syntezy testów jezdnych, traktowanych jako zbiór realizacji procesu stochastycznego prędkości samochodu, z zastosowaniem kryterium podobieństwa charakterystyki amplitudowo-częstotliwościowej w warunkach badań i rzeczywistego użytkowania pojazdu. Dzięki potraktowaniu testu jako zbioru realizacji procesu przypadkowego jest możliwe w proponowanej metodzie nie tylko wyznaczanie wartości ocenianych zerowymiarowych charakterystyk, określających właściwości użytkowe samochodów, ale i jest możliwa również ocena probabilistycznych właściwości tych wielkości. W pracy wyznaczono i przebadano przykładowe realizacje procesu stochastycznego prędkości w teście na podstawie charakterystyki amplitudowoczęstotliwościowej testu FTP-75 (Federal Test Procedure – federalna procedura badawcza).

Objectives The aim of the study was to establish whether the driver’s visual strategy may influence a driver’s behavior to avoid a crash in a high-risk situation. Any published papers on drivers’ visual strategies just before a crash were not found. Material and Methods Tests were performed using a high-tech driving bus simulator. Participants comprised 45 men drivers, aged 43.5±7.9 years old, seniority as a bus driver of 13.3±8.6 years. The tests were preceded by medical examinations: general, neurological and ophthalmological. Each participant drove the same city route for approximately 40 min (entire route – ER). In the final phase, a collision situation was simulated (a phantom car blocked the participant’s right of way). Driver’s visual strategy was analyzed using the FaceLab device with 2 cameras during ER and just before collision. The field-of-view covered by camera 1 was divided into 8 regions, by camera 2 into 10 regions. The distribution of gazes in regions was a criterion of visual strategy. Results Thirty-five drivers completed the simulated driving test, 14 escaped the collision, 21 crashed. These groups differed only in resting systolic blood pressure before the test. The analysis of covariance, after adjusting to this factor, indicated that during the ER visual strategy recorded by camera 1 did not differ between groups, in camera 2 the drivers in the crash group fixed their gaze more frequently (p = 0.049) in region 3 (close part of the road in front of the windshield). Just before the collision drivers who escaped the collision fixed their gaze significantly more often in region 6 (left side of the road) in camera 1 and in region 6 (in front of the windshield,) and region 10 (right side) in camera 2. Conclusions The visual strategy has an impact on the road safety. The analysis of visual strategies may be a useful tool for the training of drivers. Int J Occup Med Environ Health. 2019;32(2):161–74

Driving safety is a major concern all around the world of both the concerned authorities and the general public. In the context in which aggressive driving behaviour is generally considered to be a major cause of traffic accidents, the study of such a problem can help policy-makers in their endeavour to design better programs that aim at reducing aggressive driving behaviour. The purpose of the present paper is to analyse the above-mentioned problem by considering short- and medium-term alternative measures in terms of social cost. The optimal combination of short- and medium-term solutions will be shown to depend on the drivers’ level of aggressiveness, which, naturally, also depends on the gap between the existent infrastructure and the volume of motorized traffic. Special attention is given to the impact of civic campaigns on the level of aggressiveness.
