Qualitative interviews with six female runners shed light on the gender gap in women’s participation in shorter versus longer road races. The interviews reveal that “mother guilt” and “time constraints” play a significant role in the development of a running identity among women. While the running community promotes a discourse centered around a “disembodied” runner — someone totally and unconstrainedly dedicated to running — the participants in this study experienced conflicts between their roles as mothers and their identity as runners. The conflicts led them to engage in challenging the dominant discourse by actively negotiating a mothering and running identity. The findings suggest that women are redefining the boundaries around running and subsequently — running subculture itself.

Background. Running tourism began to develop along with a growing popularity of running as a form of recreation. The aim of this study was to define the concept of running tourism and to find out the Polish runners’ motives for participation in this form of tourism. Material and methods. The research tool was a questionnaire developed by the authors. It was possible to fill it in during the Cracovia Marathon (04.22.2012) or online; 186 runners answered 20 questions in the detailed part of questionnaire. Results and conclusions. The runners chose the competition venue taking into account the length of the run and the distance from the place of residence. Other important factors were also: attractiveness of the competition, atmosphere and a desire to visit interesting places after participating in the competition. Awareness of running tourism among the runners in Poland is low. The majority of respondents (74%) stated they knew this term, but only 47% of respondents clearly admits participating in it. In Poland the form of running tourism – a guided running tour – does not exist, but it is a niche sector of travel services that has not been developed yet.

The current investigation was conducted to determine whether sex differences in skeletal accelerations and shock attenuation were evident during running. Twelve male and twelve female recreational runners ran at 4.0 m.s-1. Axial accelerations were measured at 1,000 Hz using accelerometers mounted at the tibia and sacrum. Peak tibial and sacrum axial accelerations were obtained and utilized to calculate the extent of shock attenuation. The results showed that peak sacrum accelerations were significantly larger in female runners (5.16 ±0.64 g) compared to males (4.37 ±0.75 g). It was also shown that shock attenuation (31.90 ±19.85%) was significantly lower in female runners in relation to males (47.89 ±11.46%). The findings from the current investigation indicate that female runners experience greater skeletal accelerations which may place greater stress on the musculoskeletal structures required attenuate transients forces which can be detrimental to passive tissues.

Physical differences associated with birth-date among athletes of the same selection year have been described as the Relative Age Effect (RAE). The aim of this study was to examine whether RAE still exists in soccer and running sport disciplines as well as to evaluate its progress among different gender, age, and sport context and if it has an effect on performance. Using official archives of the international sports’ associations (World Athletics-UEFA), birthdates and performance were collected for 7226 athletes (4033 males; 3198 females) who participated in soccer and running events. A chi-square test was used to assess differences between observed and expected birth date distributions. The study showed an over-representation of athletes born in the first quarter of the selection year for both soccer and running events. RAE is more obvious in younger age groups and in sports that require higher explosive speed, strength, power and anaerobic capacity such as soccer and short distance sprints. It was also found that RAE is associated with performance. In conclusion, athletes of younger age groups with greater biological age have a physical advantage in explosive sports (i.e. soccer and short distance running) that probably does not predict their future development.

The paper presents results of a research focused on Polish running clubs (NGOs for runners and running volunteers). The research method was desk research on-line and the study refers to all 99 identified running clubs in Poland, including their activity in 2014 and 2015. Collected data includes location, number of members and activities undertaken by running clubs (in the perspective of collaboration with local authorities, other NGOs and business). Results of the study may be useful when analyzing the running boom in the perspective of the theory of social capital by Robert D. Putnam.
W artykule zostały przedstawione wyniki badania własnego dotyczącego działalności stowarzyszeń biegaczy-amatorów (tzw. klubów biegacza) w Polsce. Badanie zostało wykonane z wykorzystaniem analizy danych zastanych on-line (ang. desk research), obejmując 99 zidentyfikowanych organizacji tego typu. Pomiar uwzględniał aktywność badanych podmiotów w 2014 i 2015 roku. Zebrane dane dotyczą lokalizacji (województwo, wielkość miejscowości), liczby członków oraz rodzajów działań podejmowanych przez kluby biegacza, w układzie ich współpracy z jednostkami samorządu terytorialnego, innymi organizacjami pozarządowymi oraz firmami komercyjnymi. Uzyskane wyniki mogą być interpretowane w perspektywie teorii kapitału społecznego, w ujęciu proponowanym przez Roberta D. Putnama.

This study focuses on the development of a reliable prosthetic running blade primarily composed of carbon fiber. The reliable performance of novel prosthetic running blades has been evaluated by mechanical testing and finite element numerical modeling. Theexperimental analysis confirmed that these blades exhibit superior suitability for high-impact activities, demonstrating reliable load-bearing capacity and effective shock absorption properties. The tensile testing exhibited a linear elastic behavior of the composite material up to a strain of 0.075 mm/mm. Further, it was found that stress concentration areas and fracture points within the blade structure. Furthermore, numerical results revealed a maximum deflection of 29.60 mm that the blade can achieve. The kinetic energy loss during impact demonstrated an 8.5% decrease in blade kinetic energy, with the highest loss occurring at Vy = 30 m/s. Ultimately, this research aims to enhance the reliability, durability, and safety of prosthetic running blades, empowering athletes to reach new heights in sports.

The current study aimed to investigate the influence of energy boost, spring and conventional footwear on running economy and substrate usage. Ten male runners completed 5 min steady state runs in energy boost, spring and conventional footwear. Running economy and percent contribution of carbohydrate to total calorie expenditure were assessed. Participants also subjectively indicated which shoe condition they preferred for running. Differences between footwear were examined using repeated measures ANOVA. The results showed firstly that running economy was significantly improved in the energy return (33.36 ml.kg.min -1) compared to spring (34.83 ml.kg.min -1) and conventional footwear (34.65 ml.kg.min -1). In addition, percent carbohydrate was significantly lower in the energy return (74.51%) in comparison to the spring (78.56%) and conventional (78.52%) footwear. As running economy was improved and carbohydrate utilization reduced in the energy return footwear, this study indicates that they may be associated with improvements in running performance.

Nowadays Didymosphenia geminata is one of the most frequently studied diatoms in the world, due to its massive development in most continents. In Poland, up to the 1990’s only a small number of specimens were recorded, from streams in the Tatra Mountains and the Dunajec River. D. geminata was found in 2007–2008 in the middle and upper sections of the Wisłok River, while in 2009 and 2011 it was also found in the Wisłoka, Ropa, Bielcza and San. The cells belonged to one morphotype “geminata” and were characterized by high variability of size. It develops in mesotrophic, well-oxygenated, upper parts of flowing waters with rapid currents. It was most abundant below reservoirs on the San, Wisłok and Wisłoka.

The article presents results of an own research, which was carried out on a group of amateur runners from the Lodz province. The case of runners’ motivation was investigated. The survey was carried out by using an on-line questionnaire for 101 respondents, belonging to runner’s clubs and runner’s communities from the Lodz province. A key finding is, that the respondents were guided by health reasons when they had started running trainings. Running has become an easy way for them to improve their health, condition and stress reduction. Moreover, running also changed their non-sport sphere of daily life: their habits, self-esteem and openness for other people.
W artykule zostały przedstawione wyniki badania własnego, przeprowadzonego na próbie biegaczy-amatorów z województwa łódzkiego. W badaniu sprawdzano, jakimi motywacjami kierowali się biegacze, rozpoczynając przygodę z tym sportem oraz jak bieganie zmieniło ich życie i stan zdrowia. Badanie zostało wykonane z wykorzystaniem kwestionariusza ankiety on-line, objęło 101 respondentów, należących do klubów biegacza i społeczności biegaczy z województwa łódzkiego. Wyniki badań wykazały, iż ankietowani, gdy rozpoczynali treningi biegowe, kierowali się głównie przesłankami zdrowotnymi. Bieganie stało się łatwym sposobem na poprawę zdrowia, kondycji czy zredukowanie stresu. Rozpoczęcie przygody z bieganiem zmieniło także ich pozasportową sferę codziennego życia, zmieniły się ich nawyki i przyzwyczajenia; bieganie wniosło do ich życia wiele pozytywnych zmian.

In this paper, we analyze data sets, collected from the public web sites, containing the finishers arrival times in five different half marathons. We focus on finding patterns in the arrival times distributions as well as on studying the differences between the female and male runners’ arrival times distributions. The main statistical tools used are Analysis of Variance and Kolmogorov - Smirnov test for identifying underlying distributions and for comparing distributions of two samples. The obtained results indicate that the dynamics of groups of female runners is different than that of male runners. Also, a meaningful factor for the sha pe of the distribution is time limit set by the races organizers.

Objectives. Post exercise proteinuria (PEP) is found in about 20–40% of sportsmen after intensive exercise. Urinary NGAL is a new marker of tubulointerstitial kidney damage. The relationship between PEP and uNGAL has not been defined yet. In presented study a resting uNGAL as a predictor of PEP was analyzed. The changes of albuminuria after exercise were monitored to estimate a frequency and range of PEP. Methods. 40 amateur healthy runners (mean age 36.65 ±10.61 years) participating in 10-km run took part in the study. Before and after the competition urine was collected. NGAL, albumin and creatinine were subsequently measured in urine. uNGAL to creatinine ratio (NCR) and albumin to creatinine ratio (ACR) were calculated. Results. 28 participants (mean age 37.9 ±11.46, 19 M, 9 F) with uNGAL below 15 ng/ml before competition were analyzed. The increase of ACR was observed in every case. Mean post-exercise ACR was 104.55 ±123.1 mg/g and was significantly higher than pre-exercise ACR 6.33 ±5.86 mg/g (p < 0.0005). The positive correlation was found between resting NCR and post-exercise ACR (r = 0.60, p < 0.05). Conclusions. Resting uNGAL positively correlated with PEP. The possible explanation of these findings is that persons with PEP had some early, occult tubulointersitial kidney damage. It is speculated that those runners have higher risk of chronic kidney disease.

The article discusses a preliminary concept of a method enabling the identification of chosen rail running surface defects, such as squats, spalling, and running surface defects, by analysing the parameters of vibration signals. It features a description of the methodology of the conducted tests, the scope thereof, and the selection of the measurement points with specific defect types. The article covers selected results of vibration tests, the results of analyses of recorded signals for defective track sections and those for control track sections. The presented measurement results have been obtained for the technical–operating conditions occurring on railway line no. 213 Reda – Hel and line no. 131 Chorzów Batory – Tczew. The preliminary test results and conclusions included in the article show that it is reasonable to pursue further research into the phenomena involving the utilisation of vibroacoustics in rail performance diagnostics.

This paper presents a modified Independent Component Analysis (ICA)-based Fault Detection Method (FDM). The proposed FDM constructs a set of matrices, revealingthe trend of the variable samples and execute ICA algorithm for each set of matrices in contrast to the FDM based on dynamic ICA (DICA) which constructs the high dimensional augmented matrix. This paper shows that the proposed FDM decreases the matrix dimensions and as a result compensates for some disadvantages of using the high dimensional matrix discussed in previous articles. Furthermore, other advantages of the proposed FDM are the decreases in the running time, computational cost of the algorithm and the orthogonalization estimation errors. Moreover, the proposed method improves the detectability for a class of faults compared to DICA-based FDM. This class of fault occurs when two or more consecutive samples of fault source signal have opposite signs and cancel out each other. Simulation results are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.

Running is one of the most popular methods of spending time in active form in the world. The vast majority of managers who organise runs are former or actual runners. It is interesting to note that more men are leaders of teams which organise running events, while women as leaders are very rare. The main purpose of the research was to find the influence of sex of leader on the style of leadership, decision process and atmosphere in team. The author of this article conducted quality research using individual deep interview method. Data were collected from 23 individual deep interviews with managers of big running events organised in Poland, and 14 with the members of their teams. Currently, effective leaders should have competences different than what were prevalent 20–30 years ago. More important is, for example, emotional intelligence, empathy and interpersonal skills. Organisations operating in the amateur sport market have to build networking with many partners from the public and business sector, so leaders should concentrate on cooperating with stakeholders representing different expectations. Competences that women possess over men are required. Unlike other industries, in the running market there are very few women as leaders. Several reasons abound for this, some of which include economic and sociological grounds.

Triathlon is dev eloping very quickly nowadays. In our paper we are interested in cross triathlon. The road bike is replaced by the mtb mountain bike and the run is also done in the mountain. Triathlon is the endurance kind of sport where the AeT’s (aerobical threshold) a nd AnT’s (anaerobical threshold) level is the basic indicator of a sports performance. The curve of the both thresholds changes under the influence of a lot of factors during the year. We studied the influence of the running preparation on the aerobic and anaerobic threshold at the cross triathlon specialist during one year. We monitored the level, especially the changes in the sports performance during the ATC (annual training cycle). We valued the training proccess, the quantization of the training load and its influence on the triathlet’s performance with the intraindividual analysis.We gained the necessary data from the training diary and with help of the tests realized in the laboratory conditions .We detected the speed at the aerobic and anaerobic thr eshold by the running belt. Then we corelated them with the training parameters and we found out the addaction. We followed their actual influence on the performace and the influence of the training paramaters in the time intervals.

The purpose of this study was to compare of two aerobic training methods on health-related physical fitness in 10 to 12 years old boys. Thirty-three male students (age 11.27±0.64 year, weight 40.58±9.03 kg, height 151.45±6.34 cm) were recruited from preliminary school and randomly were assigned into rope-jump training (n=12), running training (n=11) and control (n=10) groups. Due to the grouping, each for 8 weeks did the rope jumping or running. Before and after the 8-week training period, factors of health-related fitness, including flexibility, muscular endurance, aerobic power and fat Percentage of the subjects were measured. The results indicated a significant positive effect of rope-jumping training on aerobic power, muscular endurance and body composition and meaningful improvement of aerobic power and body composition by running training (p≤0.05). Due to increasing urbanization and lack of space in homes and schools, rope-jump training can be a good alternative rather than running for physical fitness promotion.

The aim of this study is to examine and evaluate the effects of long-term stress on muscle and heart biomarkers after completing a 100 km ultramarathon. Material and Methods: Venous blood samples of nine runners (average age 38.8±10.2 years), who successfully finished a 100 km ultramarathon at an elevation of 3130 m, were examined before the start, at the finish line immediately after the run, one day after the run and then after 5 and 10 days. Clinical, laboratory, and somatometric data were obtained from all measurements, and biomarkers: aspartate aminotransferase (AST), cortisol (COR), troponin T (cTnT), creatine kinase (CK) and C-reactive protein (CRP). Also, their training experience and ultramarathon experience was monitored. Discovered values were further analyzed with the use of t-test a ω2 (ω2≥0.1), and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient (r) at the significance level of p<0.05. Results: The average finish time of the runners was 13:55:40 (min: 12:12:35, max: 16:52:02). After finishing the ultramarathon, runners showed an average weight loss of 2.4 kg (p<0.05). The results show that hematological changes were caused by physiological stress and long-term physical load. The values of all monitored biomarkers showed a significant exceeding of the normal values immediately after the race in 8 competitors out of 9. The values of cTnT showed an increase of more than 50 % (pre -race: 8.2±2.3, post-race: 34.22±25.9 ng/l, max=98 ng/l). After 24 hours, however, this condition had returned to the normal values for all participants. The results show that the AST hepatic enzymes significantly correlated with the training experience (r=-0.41, p=0.043), the total number of kilometers run per year (r=-0.45, p=0.04) and the achieved finish time (r=0.67, p=0.001). At the same time, athletes who had the best finish time achieved lower CRP values (r=0.74, p=0.023) and cTnT values (r=0.49, p=0.040). The study found that the competitors who had the longest experience with ultramaraton had the lowest cTnT (r=0.44, p=0.050). Conclusion: Long-term physical stress is associated with metabolic and cardiovascular changes. Blood abnormalities found in our study suggest that due to long-lasting extreme stress, heart exhaustion may occur. However, these changes did not last long and after a few days they returned to the normal values for all runners.

W XXI w. na świecie zaczęto z zamiłowaniem uprawiać biegi rekreacyjne. Od 2013 r. jogging stał się najbardziej popularną aktywnością fizyczną wśród Polaków. Głównym celem artykułu jest ukazanie, że bieganie rekreacyjne, które jest nie tylko aktywnością ruchową służącą utrzymaniu właściwej kondycji fizycznej, ale także „sportem dla wszystkich”, zaczyna przybierać rangę specyficznego produktu turystyczno-sportowego – imprezy biegowej. W pracy do analizy wybrano toruńskie zawody biegowe i wydarzenia im towarzyszące, a także wykorzystano dane statystyczne dotyczące organizacji imprez biegowych w Polsce.
In the twenty-first century recreational running has been taken up and practised by people virtually on a global scale. Since 2013, jogging has become the most popular physical activity among Poles. The main aim of this article is to demonstrate that recreational running is not only a physical activity performed in order to maintain proper physical condition, but also as a „sport for everyone”, it begins to take the status of a specific tourist and sport product – a running event. In this article, running competitions in Torun and supporting events have been selected for the analysis, as well as statistical data has been used concerning the organization of running events in Poland.

The article presents a review of the constructional solutions of running gears of freight wagons resulting from the requirements of national and European regulations. A short characteristic of traction vehicles operating in freight traction is presented. The main types of bogies used in Poland and Europe, mainly the family of bogies of Y25 type, are described. A brief historical overview of the running systems of freight wagons is provided. A brief historical outline of the running gears of freight wagons is contained. Requirements of the interchangeability of the running gear as a standard gear are presented. The main issues related to the design of running gears, requirements, criteria, technical specifications are discussed.
W artykule przedstawiono przegląd rozwiązań konstrukcyjnych układów biegowych wagonów towarowych wynikających z wymagań zawartych w krajowych jak i europejskich przepisach. Przedstawiono krótką charakterystykę pojazdów trakcyjnych poruszających się w trakcji towarowej. Opisano główne typy wózków stosowanych w Polsce i Europie przede wszystkim rodzinę wózków typu Y25. Zawarto krótki rys historyczny układów biegowych wagonów towarowych. Przedstawiono wymagania zamienności układu biegowego jako układu standardowego. Omówiono główne zagadnienia związane z projektowaniem układów biegowych, wymaganiami, kryteriami, specyfikacją techniczną.

Authors in their contribution deal with the issue of reactive and running agility in sport. Upon constructing the methods of research we assumed that players ́ performances in running agility (Illinois test) should increase with the age of soccer players. W e expected that we shall not prove this tendency in the level of reaction agility (FAC) with regard to the fact that performance in reaction agility is limited, besides motor, also by other prerequisites such as perception, state of receptors, sensoric and autonomous functions, spinal and supraspinal levels of motor system. We also expected that there will be no proved relationship between these tests ́ results in any age category. The level of performance in running and reactive agility increases with age; t he increase is smooth in running agility and cascaded in reactive agility starting with the 14 yrs. category. We also noted a downward tendency in the correlation between running and reactive agility with increasing age. This decline is most evident from t he 14 th year of age. The relationship between running and reaction agility was not observed in the study group from the age of 13. Coaches are recommended to switch over to the specific development of agility using the way of weakening anticipation ability of the player and to replace exercises with closed -loop skills by the ones of open -loop skills.

The article presents the results of a questionnaire survey aimed at determining social preferences in relation to running as a form of active leisure time in forests. These preferences were established on the basis of surveys conducted via the Internet by means of social media services. The survey was carried out in 2016 and covered 346 people living in Poland, interested in running and jogging. It involved people over 18 years of age. As a research tool, an Internet questionnaire was used, which included questions concerning the attractiveness of the forest for practicing running, the frequency of running events in the forest, and factors motivating to take part in the running event. Statistical analysis was performed considering the influence of personal characteristics (gender, age, place of residence) and experience in running on the preferences of respondents with the use of the chi-square test. Men dominated among the respondents. The majority of respondents were people aged 35–44 living in towns. Over half of the respondents declared that they practiced athletic or recreational running for more than 4 years. The results show that the Polish forests are an attractive place for running. The preferences varied significantly, mainly in relation to gender, age, and experience in running. Age differentiated the views of respondents on the attractiveness of the forest as a place for running. Participating in forest running events was determined by gender, place of residence, and experience in running. Participants of such events are more frequently men, residing in towns. It was observed that the frequency of participation in running events increases with experience. The attractiveness of the running event was associated mainly with its general atmosphere and the characteristics of the running trail. However, the views were diversified according to gender, age, residence, and experience in running.

The current investigation aimed to examine the effects of different orthotic conditions on the biomechanical mechanisms linked to the aetiology of chronic pathologies using musculoskeletal simulation. Methods: 16 male and 20 females ran over an embedded force plate at 4.0 m/s, in five different conditions (medial, lateral, no-orthoses, semi-custom and off the shelf). Kinematics of the lower extremities were collected using an eight-camera motion capture system and lower extremity joint loading also explored using a musculoskeletal simulation approach. Differences between orthoses conditions were examined using 2 2 mixed ANOVA. Results: External instantaneous load rate was significantly reduced in the off the shelf orthoses (male = 1290.60 and female = 1567.10 N/kg/s), compared to the medial (male = 1480.45 and female = 1767.05 N/kg/s) and semi-custom (male = 1552.99 and female = 1704.37 N/kg/s) conditions. In addition, peak patellofemoral stress was significantly lower in the off the shelf orthoses (male = 68.55 and female = 94.91 KPa/kg) compared to the lateral condition (male = 70.49 and female = 103.22 KPa/kg). Finally, peak eversion angles were significantly attenuated in the medial orthoses (male = –6.61 and female = –7.72 deg) compared to the lateral (male = –9.61 and female = –10.32 deg), no-orthoses (male = –8.22 and female = –10.10 deg), semi-custom (male = –8.25 and female = –9.49 deg) and off the shelf (male = –7.54 and female = –8.85 deg) conditions. Conclusions: The current investigation shows that different orthotic devices/ configurations may provide distinct benefits in terms of their effectiveness in attenuating the biomechanical parameters linked to the aetiology of chronic running injuries.

In many countries we are observing now an increase of fashion for running and in connection with the participation of athletes in various running events – marathons, halfmarathons, ultramarathons. Running events become recently an important stimulus to the development of sports tourism, now one of the fastest growing industries of leisure time. The aim of this article is to show who participates in running events in Poznań (the case study of Poznań Halfmarathon). The work on the basis of empirical studies conducted using diagnostic survey interview technique standardized defined socio-demographic profile of both athletes, who live in the city where the event is held and defined the profile of the runner – sports tourist.
W wielu krajach obserwujemy obecnie wzrost mody na bieganie i w związku z nim udział sportowców w rozmaitych imprezach biegowych – maratonach, półmaratonach, ultramaratonach. Imprezy biegowe stają się w ostatnim czasie istotnym stymulatorem rozwoju turystyki sportowej, dziś jednej z najdynamiczniej rozwijających się gałęzi przemysłu czasu wolnego. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie, kto jest uczestnikiem imprez biegowych w Poznaniu – na przykładzie Półmaratonu Poznańskiego. W pracy na podstawie badań empirycznych przeprowadzonych metodą sondażu diagnostycznego, techniką wywiadu standaryzowanego, określono profil społeczno-demograficzny sportowców, mieszkających w mieście, w którym odbywa się impreza, określono też profil biegacza – turysty sportowego.

The aim of the study is to to examine the motivations for participating in a half-marathon among two groups of runners, local running in their place of residence and sports tourists, and to evaluate the differences between them. With the increase in the popularity of ‘running tourism’ the question becomes important as it encourages runners to engage in physical activity outside their everyday place of residence. Freyer and Gross’s (2002) four types of motivation for participation in sports events was the basis for the development of the author’s questionnaire. The empirical research (sample size=346) then recognized these motives for participation. The article also presents a review of the literature on such motivations in mass running events. Results indicate that both group of respondents, residents of the place where the half-marathon was organised and sports tourists, have different forms of motivation. The greatest relevance for sports tourists turned out to be motivation for sensation-seeking but for local runners it was the result, and this confirms that sports tourists travel generally in search for strong emotions and sensations.

While Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) are proven to increase vehicle conspicuity during various times of the day, their safety effectiveness is still debatable. This study utilized various statistical techniques and a field study to assess the impact of the compliance rate, and the penetration of the Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) technology on the safety efficacy of regulatory headlight use signs. Daytime head-on and opposite sideswipe multivehicle crashes for Daytime Running Lights and non-DRLs equipped passenger vehicles on mountainous rural two-way highway sections with and without regulatory headlight use signs were examined in a matched case control design. Preliminary analysis showed that only 23% of vehicles involved in crashes on the study sections were equipped with DRLs. Although results from the odds ratios and ratios of odds ratios indicated some safety benefits of the headlight use signs, the safety benefits were statistically insignificant. The study concluded that the low compliance rate of 12% affected the safety effectiveness of the regulatory headlight signs. Transportation agencies should have different considerations when evaluating the safety effectiveness of compliance-and behavioral-based countermeasures.

The aim of the study is to determine motivation of runners from Poland and the Czech Republic in the context of their participation in running competitions. In this study, correlations between age, experience, training period and motives for participation in the competition by comparing the cross-country runners from both countries was researched. The study examined the place of health in the structure of motives. The study involved 847 runners from Poland and 118 from the Czech Republic. The method of a diagnostic survey was carried out using questionnaires. Competition with ourselves, overcoming our own limits, and improving physical fitness are the main motives of runners who participate in running events. Motives related to health are placed in subsequent positions. Polish runners are more sport goal-oriented; this may result from the fact that in the Czech Republic recreational sport is more grounded in culture. Running events are an important element of cross-country passion, since up to nearly 45% of runners from the Czech Republic and more than half from Poland would limit the practice, or stop it, if they did not have eligibility to participate in competitions. Organizers of sports and recreational events involving road running should rather educate runners in the direction of healthy behaviors. They should enrich the content of health education emphasizing the value of active participation and healthy lifestyle over sports rivalry.

One of the basic characteristic that characterize combat vehicles or transportation special vehicles, regardless of type of vehicle, is ability to move along any kind of roads as well as overcome different kind of off road obstacles natural and artificial. These vehicles on their road can encounter rigid pavement, flexible or plastic pavement, that could have high or low road adhesion, wet or dry, covered by fluffy or wet snow, ice, stones, rubble or else other objects. Natural terrain configuration is characterized by different undulating extent, hills, steep slopes, ditches and gorges, water-courses and rivers. Combat vehicles, with tracked or wheeled chassis, while tasks realization any minute now can encounter such environment, they have to overcome it and achieve the destination. Endless consideration and disputes to the point, which of combat vehicles: with tracked chassis or wheeled chassis can better realize the tasks in of road condition, are carrying on for many years and the end is unknown. There are presented various views concerning that issue including military vehicles producers as well as their users. Both sides are right because it is very difficult to choose optimal solution it is chosen compromise solution. In the paper were presented results of analysis of some factors that have essential influence on tracked and wheeled chassis traction characteristics on bearing on using them in future combat vehicles and transportation special vehicles.
Jedną z podstawowych właściwości charakteryzujących pojazdy bojowe lub specjalne transportowe, niezależnie od rodzaju podwozia, jest ich zdolność do poruszania się po dowolnych drogach oraz pokonywania różnego rodzaju przeszkód terenowych naturalnych i sztucznych. Pojazdy te na swojej drodze mogą napotkać nawierzchnie twarde, elastyczne lub plastyczne, które mogą być o dużej lub o małej przyczepności, mokre lub suche, pokryte puszystym śniegiem, lodem lub mokrym śniegiem, pokryte kamieniami, gruzem lub innymi przeszkodami. Naturalne ukształtowanie terenu charakteryzuje się różnym stopniem pofałdowania, wzniesieniami, stromymi skarpami, rowami i jarami, ciekami wodnymi i rzekami. Pojazdy bojowe, z podwoziem gąsienicowym lub kołowym, podczas realizacji zadania w każdej chwili mogą trafić na takie środowisko, muszą je w szybkim tempie pokonać i osiągnąć cel. Rozważania i spory na temat, które z pojazdów bojowych: czy z podwoziem gąsienicowym czy też z kołowym lepiej mogą poradzić sobie z realizacją zadań w terenie, toczą się od wielu lat a ich końca nie widać. Prezentowane są różne poglądy na ten problem w tym przez producentów pojazdów wojskowych jak i ich użytkowników. Racje są po jednej i po drugiej stronie i ponieważ trudno jest wybrać rozwiązanie optymalne, wybiera się rozwiązania kompromisowe. W pracy przedstawiono rezultaty analizy niektórych czynników mających istotny wpływ na właściwości trakcyjne podwozi gąsienicowych i kołowych w aspekcie zastosowania ich do przyszłych pojazdów bojowych i specjalnych transportowych.

From 1992 in Poland was obligation to use passing beam headlights in automotive traffic during daytime in autumn and winter. From April 2007 was introduced extension of this obligation to spring and summer. This obligation caused controversies and discussions. In some, mostly European countries this obligation is present during part of year or during full year on all or selected roads. Known research shows that profits of this obligation understanding as decreased number of killed and injured people exceed costs understanding as additional fuel consumption and light sources replaced. This law in Poland is used till now some month more over one year. The results and differences can be observed only for few months of2007 in relation to adequate few months in 2006. It is to short period of time to reach final conclusions. Because in 2007 the total number of accidents increases comparing 2006 there is a pressure of part of mass media and public opinion to withdraw this law. Preliminary detailed analysis of accidents connected with using lights during daytime shows rather decreased number of daytime light-dependent accidents when is observed increased number of night accidents. It means that common feeling regarding using lights in daytime and nigh-time can be far from objective research results. The base is differences in perceptions between people and mistakes of subjective assessment. In this paper is presented preliminary analysis of problems and results of using lights during daytime in Poland in spring/summer period.

This article draws on data collected through semi-structured interviews with intercollegiate cross country and track athletes to investigate how female distance runners experience their sport concerning gender and embodiment. The runners identified gender as affecting their sport by way of shorter distances for women’s races, heightened involvement of coaches in corporeal matters such as diet and weight, as well as sex verification policies. Distance running was also specifically identified as a sport that intensifies societal pressures for women to be thin. Drawing on Foucault’s theory of disciplinary power, this paper explores how dominant discourses on gender and the body are reproduced within distance running through a combination of structural and cultural practices. However, the paper also highlights resistance to cultural ideals among female runners, calling for a more dynamic understanding of disciplinary power that accounts for individual agency.

The paper examines the problem of the social output of the leisure running boom as a relatively durable phenomenon of nowadays global scope. The concept of the “social footprint” to describe the social consequences and impact of the phenomenon of interest, is proposed, developed and implemented. Analysis conducted is focused on Poland as an exemplary country under social, political and economic modernization. The first two decades of the 21st century constitute the time frame of the study performed. The collected and analyzed empirical data allow us to claim that the running boom contributed to the progress of Polish modernization in the form of reconstruction of social structure (macro-social level), generation of social capital, strengthening of the position of local government, modernization of rural and urban landscape in social and spatial dimension (mezzo-social level) and changes in gender roles (micro-social level).

Introduction. Both walking and its faster, running, consist of cyclical subsequent phases of swing and support; however, they differ in their time proportions as well as magnitude of acting forces. There is a lack of studies concerning the longterm consequences of repeated jogging cycles on the function of feet and, above all, on their permanent impact on the shape of foot arches. Objectives. The objective of this study was to answer the question whether regular jogging changes the shape of the transverse and medial longitudinal arches of the feet. Materials and method. The research material consisted of 96 women with an average age of 26.57, and included 50 actively jogging women, and 46 of non-joggers. The study was performed with the use of EMED-SF force platform. The plantar surface of the foot was divided into 10 regions according to Cavanagh, for which peak pressure and contact time were established. Two indicators were defined: metatarsal bone pressure distribution pattern acc. to Kantali, and longitudinal arch index acc. to Cavanagh. Results. The data obtained revealed more frequent occurrence of the greatest pressure under the centrally located metatarsal heads (lack of functional foot transverse arch) among the female joggers, compared with the non-joggers. Moreover, the findings indicate the higher frequency of medial longitudinal foot arch flattening among female runners, with a great deal of consistency between both feet, whereas results for the control group show asymmetrical medial arch shapes with right foot propensity to normal arch shape and left foot tendency for excessive arch. Conclusion. The observed differences in feet arch shapes between female joggers and non-joggers indicate the influence of jogging on feet functional adaptations.

Psychological mechanisms explaining running performance have not been fully identified yet. One of the factors potentially important in running performance is positive orientation—a higher order construct capturing the core of self-esteem, life satisfaction, and optimism. The aim of the study was to investigate the role of positive orientation in explaining running performance of recreational runners. The study involved 204 recreational runners taking part in a marathon race. Before the race, they reported their positive orientation, training engagement, BMI, and previous marathon experience. Actual running performance was measured using runners’ personal bib numbers and their objective time scores obtained from the official competitors’ list after the race. Structural equation modelling results show that the higher is runners’ positive orientation, the higher is also their training engagement before the marathon, which in turn predicts their actual running performance. The study extends the understanding of a role of personality in recreational sport performance. The findings broaden also evidence concerning the role of positive orientation in effective functioning.

The aim of the research is to analyze the quality of life improvement (Kaizen) in the running aspect in Poland. Until now, issues related to the running analysis of the quality life in terms were not the subject of broader, comprehensive scientific considerations. The research was taken in 2019 year and covered a group of 396 runners. The respondents are women posing 67,9% and men posing 32,1% residing in different areas of Poland. The research was based on a questionnaire (CAWI - Computer Assisted Web Interview). Although for most respondents the result is not the most important, they try to improve their running attitude and time. Runners use different ways to be motivated to work on themselves. An example of motivators can be a medal, obtained at the finish line or sharing success with participation in competition on social networks (Facebook).

Wearable products with high tech content for any sport activity or exercise could perform to fulfil unmet needs or goals. The research investigated consumption goals and product evaluation with the Goal-Based Model for a study of smart running shoes. Online research was carried out to obtain the attributes of smart running shoes. Face-to-face interviews with voluntary participants were performed to explore desired goals corresponding to each attribute of the product. New participants filled in a survey questionnaire in order to measure their own subjective evaluation of the product as per their own goals. All participants were staying in Nottingham, UK during the survey. Eight different consumption goals were obtained in accordance with the attributes of smart running shoes. Product evaluation was calculated using the probability and importance of goals expected from the consumption of the product.

The study is devoted to an analysis of the working conditions of the running gear elements with elastomer tracks in the typical applications of an industrial vehicle. The loads of the undercarriages elements for the selected running gear with elastomer tracks were determined on the basis of this analysis. Particular attention was paid to the operation of the inner track lugs (during the drive transmission and track guiding), and the elastomer lining of the driving sprocket. Numerical computations were conducted by means of the finite element method using nonlinear static. The elastomers used in running gears, mainly the rubber with various mechanical properties (for instance hardness) were modelled as incompressible hyperelastic materials using the two-parameter Mooney-Rivlin model. The computations took into account contact effects andfriction in the areas of the mating elements contact. The results of the numerical analyses demonstrate the possibilities of increasing the loads transmitted by the analyzed elements of the running gear. The local character of the loads in the drive transmission system using the positive power transmission is noteworthy. The results of the computations may be used for the optimal dimensioning of the elastomer elements of the drive transmission system between the driving sprocket and the elastomer track.

Wpływ tarcia na zmiany warstwy wierzchniej powierzchni trących jest faktem znanym i oczywistym. Niezbędne jest dokładne poznanie zjawisk i mechanizmów zmieniających w trakcie procesu tarcia własności warstwy wierzchniej. W pracy opisane zostały wyniki badań mikrotwardości wybranych polimerów ślizgowych. Badania prowadzono dla próbek polimerowych poddanych tarciu ślizgowemu po stali. W pracy opisane zostały zmiany mikrotwardości, mierzonej metodą Vickersa, na skutek tarcia przy różnych parametrach ruchowych. Zmieniane były wartości prędkości poślizgu, nacisku jednostkowego oraz charakteru ruchu (ruch ciągły i przemienny). Badaniom poddano cztery materiały z grupy termoplastów: polioksymetylen (POM), polietylen o ultrawysokim ciężarze cząsteczkowym (PE-UHMW), poliamid (PA) oraz politetrafluoroetylen (PTFE). Badania tribologiczne prowadzone były w styku rozłożonym na stanowiskach typu tarcza-trzpień oraz płytka-trzpień.
It is know that friction changes the microstructure of surface layer of the material. This modification follows as a result of interactions between contacting surfaces. There is a need to investigate the modification mechanism of the surface layer during friction. A subject of the investigation was the microhardness variation of some polymers after friction against steel. The experiment was done in surface-surface, sliding friction conditions. Vicker's microhardness measuring method was used. The influence of some friction parameters (unite pressure p, sliding velocity vs, character of friction) on the microhardness of polymers is also described in the paper. The polymers used in the experiment were polyoksymethylene (POM), ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (PE-UHMW), polyamide (PA), and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).

Tunnel thrusters are propulsion and active control devises that provide a side force, or transverse thrust, to support mooring operations or position keeping. They shorten the time of manoeuvring, reduce the cost of towage and since inception, manoeuvrability specifically in ports has become a lot easier. Tunnel thrusters can either be operated manually or with the help of Dynamic Positioning systems which makes it even more efficient. Theoretically, the transverse force due to tunnel thruster action should generate only lateral and rotational motion. Therefore, it is typical and a common practice during manoeuvring simulations that the longitudinal motion due to the action of tunnel thrusters is neglected. Nevertheless, the experience of masters and pilots shows that some longitudinal motion due to the action of tunnel thrusters appears. This paper shows some examples of turning manoeuvres carried out with bow thrusters only, i.e. no additional control devices or tug assistance have been used. The manoeuvres have been carried with minimal possible initial longitudinal nor lateral speed. Model tests have been done with the use of large manned models of VLCS, PCTC and LNG carrier, which differ in hull shape, dimensions and shape coefficients. Results obtained from the tests confirm that the motion caused by bow thruster besides rotational and lateral motion consists additionally of longitudinal motion. Analysis of the combination of motions due to the action of tunnel thrusters have been done and some rationale for this phenomenon has been presented. Additionally a short analysis of position of pivot point during tunnel thruster test has been carried out.

Proper planning of the training process based on individual LT and AT metabolic thresholds is essential to improve athletic performance. Development of endurance in soccer players is mainly based on continuous runs and variable-intensity runs, supplemented with strength conditioning and sport-specific training. The aim of the study was to analyse selected parameters of physical capacity of soccer players after 8-week variable-intensity running training and circuit training. The experiment was carried out in a group of 34 soccer players aged 21 to 26 years. The athletes were divided into two groups: 17 people in the experimental group and 17 people in the control group. The experimental group was involved in 30-minute tempo runs two times a week for 8 weeks with variable intensity at AT. In the same period, the control group performed two 60-minute continuous runs at the intensity of 70-75%HRmax. The determination of metabolic thresholds used two indirect tests: the multistage shuttle run test (beep test) and maximal lactate steady state test (MLSS) with author's own modification. In order to evaluate maximal heart rate (HRmax), the research procedure was started from the beep test (distance: 20 m). The speed at the first level was 8.5 km/h and increased with each level by 0.5 km/h. Training of the experimental group where variable exercise intensity was used caused a statistically significant increase in HRmax (by 1.9%) and blood lactate levels at the AT (by 20.5%). The training in the experimental group led to the statistically significant (p < 0.05) increase in the parameters of the following variables: HRmax (by 1.9%); lactate level (by 7.85); HR at the AT (by 1,9%); lactate level at the AT (by 20.5%). The assumptions of the experimental training did not cause statistically significant changes in pretest vs. posttest HRmax and blood lactate levels for the LT. Endurance training with high intensity is more effective in soccer players compared to training with moderate intensity. Development of special endurance in soccer should also assume the intensity and method of working similar to the method used during sport competition.

Introduction: The distinctive modes of human locomotion are walking and its faster form running. The basic feature of gait cycle, the successive phases of swing and stance, is common for walking and running, however, they differ in the time proportions of the gait cycle phases and the characteristics of the acting forces. Research suggests, that the motor behavior of the foot can be changed as a result of long-term training of different movement patterns. Hence, it can be assumed that long-term training of running gait can induce adaptive changes in the walking pattern. The research project: Analysis of the impact of recreational jogging on female forefoot loading pattern change.Materials and methods: The research included 96 women aged between 20 and 50 years, including 50 female joggers (the Research Group) and 46 non-joggers (the Control Group). Women who met the study criteria from both groups were assembled randomly from Cracow residents and its surroundings. The research was performed on an EMED-SF force platform. The foot was divided into 10 masks according to Cavanagh, for which three parameters of their time of their loading were assessed. On the basis of these parameters the duration of each subphase of the stance phase was calculated. The magnitude and the area of maximum forces acting during the push-off phase were also found.Results: For the female runners group when compared with the Control Group the following differences were observed: extension of the left forefoot push-off phase, higher maximum forces during the push-off phase for both feet; and a more frequent greater loading of the lateral than the central forefoot for the left feet. Conclusions: Our results seem to indicate the effect of running training on a permanent change in the forefoot loading pattern manifested during free walking. The analysis suggests more dynamic changes in the forefoot loading pattern on the left side.
Wstęp: Charakterystyczne dla człowieka formy lokomocji to chód oraz jego szybsza forma czyli bieg. Podstawowa cecha chodu polegająca na cyklicznie następujących po sobie fazach wymachu i podporu jest wspólna dla chodu i biegu, jednak przebiegają one w innej proporcji czasowej i ze zmienioną wielkością oraz charakterystyką oddziałujących sił. Badania wskazują, że stopy mają możliwość zmiany zachowań motorycznych pod wpływem długotrwałego trenowania zróżnicowanych wzorców ruchowych stąd przypuszcza się, że długotrwały trening biegowy może wywołać adaptacyjne zmiany w schemacie ruchowym chodu. Projekt badań: Analiza wpływu rekreacyjnego biegania na trwałe zmiany we wzorcu obciążania przodostopia u kobiet. Materiał i metody: Materiał badań stanowiło 96 kobiet w wieku od 20 do 50 roku życia, w tym 50 uprawiających bieganie (Grupa Badana) oraz 46, które biegania nie uprawiają (Grupa Kontrolna). Grupy Badana i Kontrolna zostały zebrane losowo spośród mieszkanek Krakowa i okolic spełniających kryteria badań. Badania przeprowadzono przy użyciu platformy stykowej EMED-SF. Dokonano podziału stopy na tzw. maski Cavanagha, dla których wyznaczono 3 parametry dotyczące czasu ich obciążenia. Na podstawie powyższych parametrów wyliczono czas trwania poszczególnych podfaz fazy podporu. Ustalono również wielkość i obszar oddziaływania siły maksymalnej w fazie odbicia z przodostopia. Wyniki: Dla grupy kobiet uprawiających bieganie w porównaniu z Grupą Kontrolną zaobserwowano: wydłużenie fazy odbicia z przodostopia stopy lewej, dla obu stóp wyższe siły maksymalne działające w fazie odbicia z przodostopia; dla stóp lewych dodatkowo częstsze oddziaływanie sił maksymalnych na zewnętrzną, a rzadsze na centralną część śródstopia. Wnioski: Uzyskane wyniki wydają się wskazywać na wpływ treningu biegowego na trwałe zmiany w sposobie obciążania przodostopia przejawiające się w trakcie swobodnego chodu. Przeprowadzona analiza sugeruje większą dynamikę zmian wzorca obciążenia przodostopia po stronie lewej.

Opis:
This paper describes the matter how a developed product passes through the company. The important influence is underlined here, which the designing process has on the order passage through the company. The fact is underlined here that innovation cycles have been reduced in a considerable way. Especially in pre manufacturing stages, the innovation cycle can be reduced in a considerable way by means of theoretically supported system methods of creative designing. The paper describes key principles how to apply these principles which enable apparently contradictory system introduction to designers' work with simultaneous increasing of a space for their demanding creative work, with the target to increase the quality of their work and to increase the passage possibilities of this "narrow bottle neck" within development and order processes.

Trendy związane z dbałością o środowisko, ochroną przyrody i propagowaniem ekologicznych rozwiązań w życiu codziennym coraz częściej widoczne są również w turystyce i rekreacji. Jednym z popularniejszych wśród biegaczy jest plogging, czyli połączenie biegania i zbierania śmieci. Na świecie oraz w Polsce odbywa się coraz więcej ploggingowych imprez, a w mediach społecznościowych tworzy się coraz więcej lokalnych grup ploggingowych. Wśród 158 studentów Turystyki i rekreacji Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego w Krakowie przeprowadzono anonimową ankietę, której celem było poznanie opinii na temat stanu wiedzy studentów dotyczącej ploggingu, jego popularności i przydatności w Polsce, a także ocena niektórych zachowań badanych osób związanych z dbałością o otoczenie. Niewielka grupa badanych słyszała wcześniej o idei ploggingu. Większość studentów uważa plogging za bardzo dobrą inicjatywę, lecz niewielka tylko część przyłączyłaby się do tego typu aktywności. Znaczna część studentów nie zbiera śmieci pozostawionych przez innych, a za zły stan czystości terenów rekreacyjnych winią m.in. zbyt małą dostępność koszy na śmieci oraz niski stan świadomości społecznej.
Trends related to care for the environment, nature protection and promotion of ecological solutions in everyday life are also increasingly visible in tourism and recreation. One of the most popular among runners is plogging, which is a combination of running and collecting rubbish. There are more and more plogging events in the world and in Poland, and more and more local plogging groups are created in social media. An anonymous questionnaire was conducted among 158 students of Tourism and Recreation, the purpose of which was to find out the opinion on the state of knowledge of these students about plogging, popularity and usefulness in Poland, as well as to evaluate some of the behaviors of respondents related to caring for the environment. A small group of respondents had heard about the idea of plogging before. Most students find plogging a very good initiative, but a small minority of them would join to this type of activity. A significant number of them do not collect rubbish left by others, and blame the poor cleanliness of recreational areas, among others, on insufficient availability of litter bins and low level of public awareness.

Opis:
The minimum-time running problem is reconsidered. The time of covering a given distance is minimized. The function that should be found is the runner’s velocity that varies with the distance. The Hill-Keller model of motion is employed. It is based on the Newton second law and an equation of power balance. The new element of the current approach is that the trace slope angle varies with the distance. The problem is formulated and solved in optimal control applying the Chebyshev direct pseudospectral method. The essential finding is that the optimal velocity during the cruise is constant regardless of the local slope of the terrain. Such result is valid if the inequality constraints imposed on the propulsive force or the energy are not active.

The paper includes a short review of selected problems in railway vehicle-track system dynamics which are related to the running safety. Different criteria used in assessment of the running safety are presented according to the standards which are in force in Europe and other countries. Investigations of relevant dynamic phenomena, including the mechanism of railway vehicle derailment, and the resulting modifications of the running safety criteria are also discussed.

W artykule przedstawiono standardowe uszkodzenia wtryskiwaczy, które wykorzystywane są w układach typu Common Rail firmy Bosch. Wyszczególniono przyczyny ich występowania, dokonując oceny usterek i stopnia zużycia poszczególnych elementów w aspekcie możliwości ich naprawy oraz przeprowadzenia testów na próbnikach. Wyniki badań zostały ujęte w postaci stabelaryzowanej, a przykłady charakterystyczne dodatkowo zilustrowano.
The article describes typical damages of Bosch Common Rail injectors. It has been detailed the reasons of theirs getting up. It has been accomplished the assessment of defects and extent of uses the injectors elements in aspect of possibilities to repairing and testing theirs on special testers. The results of researches have been presented on charts and the examples have been illustrated additionally.

This study is aimed at analysing the variability of oxygen parameters in subsequent annual training cycles at championship training level in mountain running. The study employed the following indirect methods: the Astrand Test, Conconi Running Test, and also a direct method (Bruce Test). Research material is a young, talented 28-year-old athletic mountain runner. Research results were obtained within 4-5 years period, which were as follows: VO2max 83-90ml/kg/min - increased on average to 2-3 ml / kg / min per year, HR max 172-177 beats / min, PPA 158-169 beats / min. The case study was carried out within the framework of longitudinal research and was used to collect data for the formulation of a specific exercise profile in a new, dynamic sports discipline. The research aims to serve as an example of a novel method of conducting training microcycles to the cyclic lifting aerobic capacity athletes.

It is common that service manuals of modern passenger car do not establish any special rules of engine running-in process. It does not mean that the running-in process does not take place in the combustion engine, but the geometrical precision of engine elements is so high that manufacturers permit to operate the engine with full power from the very beginning of passenger car operation. To determine if such approach is correct the investigation of resistance to motion during engine initial operation period was made. The friction losses sum of all kinematic couples is the basic parameter that allows to evaluate the advance of engine running-in process. Many factors have influence on resistance to motion of combustion engine which means that determination of friction forces changes during running-in process is very difficult. The investigations presented in the paper were made on the engine in which most of the friction losses components are eliminated and only crank mechanism is considered. Obtained results allow to state that manufacturers resigned to early from running-in prescription which would guarantee the maximization of service life after running in period. Presented results of resistance to motion torque investigations are also the preliminary attempt to determine in which engine cycle phase the differences during and after running-in period are greatest.
Obecnie instrukcje użytkowania samochodów osobowych nie przewidują szczególnych zasad docierania silnika w okresie początkowej eksploatacji. Nie oznacza to oczywiście, że proces docierania został wyeliminowany, jednak precyzja wykonania oraz jakość powierzchni współpracujących elementów pozwalają na pełne obciążenie silnika nowego samochodu. W celu określenia zasadności ww. poglądu zostały przeprowadzone badania zmian przebiegu sił tarcia w początkowym okresie eksploatacji silnika. Straty tarcia w parach kinematycznych silnika spalinowego są podstawowym parametrem pozwalającym ocenić zaawansowanie procesu docierania silnika. Niestety na opory ruchu silnika składa się szereg czynników, co powoduje, że określenie zmian sił tarcia w okresie docierania jest bardzo trudne. Zaprezentowane w artykule badania przeprowadzono na silniku spalinowym, w którym wyeliminowano większość składowych momentu oporu ruchu. Uzyskane wyniki pozwalają wyrazić opinię, że w obecnych instrukcjach obsługi silników spalinowych zbyt wcześnie zrezygnowano z zaleceń gwarantujących maksymalne wydłużenie eksploatacji po okresie docierania po okresie docierania. Zaprezentowane wyniki badań momentu oporu ruchu są również wstępną próbą określenia, w jakim momencie cyklu pracy silnika różnice w okresie docierania i po tym okresie są największe.
