In this paper we consider a system of work with a literary text, based on the effective methods of teaching speaking skills to foreign students. Taking into account the importance of literature in the training process of the foreign students-philologists at advanced level as well as its role in the individual development and improvement of communicative skills, we should use not only textbooks, but also adapted additional texts (with a block of tasks and exercises on communication), that belong to different styles of speech, typical for the literary works, and give an opportunity to solve not only the purely linguistic problems of teaching the Russian language on the curriculum, but also affect the intellect, stimulate creative thinking, influence feelings, arouse emotions, improve memory and thus facilitate language learning.

The popularity of games, both computer ones and those with a board, does not surprise anyone these days. They are played by both youngest children as well as adults. It may thus be worthwhile to introduce games into academic education as one of educational activities. For thanks to a game, one can better understand a given problem, actively participate in its resolution, but also study material from a given lesson unit. Whether educational games work out as tools in educating students and whether they can be recommended to learners at the primary level of education - it will turn out in the further part of the article. Our intention is to carry out an experiment in which we wish to compare two groups of students, one of which (the experimental group) is using games during their classes, whilst the other one (the control group) is not using such games and acquires material in the traditional form.

Nowadays, we witness changing trends in terms of the interest in language learning. In Poland, more and more higher education establishments, not only public, but also private, introduce various types of majors concerning oriental languages, such as Chinese translation programmes. The aim of this paper is to compare the Chinese learning process in China and in Poland. In the first part, a comparative outline of both types of learning processes will be introduced, on the base of author’s few years of experience gained while teaching and studying in both of those countries. Furthermore, the author will investigate the results of teaching Chinese in Poland, a place of very few Chinese native speakers, as compared to teaching Chinese in the mainland of China. In the end, the proposals on what to do to improve the Chinese learning system in non-Chinese speaking countries will be introduced.

The youth, being inextricably bound up with the newest technology in the reality outside the school, expects that the traditional teaching will as well pander to the certain updating. It challenges the contemporary foreign language policy, which ought to meet those expectations and make use of new teaching methods. The methods of teaching Polish language as the foreign one should take advantage of the digital information sources. It will not only enable learners to acquire knowledge more easily but also will make the whole teaching method more user-friendly. The significant majority of the learners use numerous mobile apps and online ebsites, such as Wikipedia, Facebook, You Tube, which were called by Paul Levinson “new new media”. The new new media allows its users to gain knowledge in an entertaining and easy manner, also motivates to learn Polish language. The learners who were demanding the possibility of controlling and creating information, now can eventually do so. Their daily activity in new new media, comments and discussions connected with the new information, beneficially influence their level of knowledge of Polish language.

The quality of education is increasingly being measured less by the knowledge gained during schooling and more by the level of competence possessed by students at doing a particular job after completing their education. Target and process-planned curricula are being replaced more and more by competenceoriented curricula, especially in science and technology education, where competences, generally defined as the ability of an individual to do a job properly, are placed at the forefront. In these, skills are not understood primarily as cognitive skills (e.g. critical thinking), but mostly as skills in connection to psychomo torics. If competence is the desired criterion for educational quality, it can be easily established that suitable instruments and methods of measurement are needed for this kind of quality evaluation, which, however, are not yet available. This is why in the field of competences a special unified competences taxonomy was developed, based on different taxonomies for the cognitive and also affective and psychomotor fields. Additionally, suitable instrumentation was developed in this study. Its use was demonstrated in the example of elementary education in Slovenia in the field of science and technology education.

Problem-Based Learning (PBL) represents a major development and change in educational practice that continues to have a large impact across subjects and disciplines worldwide. PBL is a successful teaching and learning strategy used to engage students in deep rather than surface learning and where the learning is student focused rather than teacher focused (Biggs,1999). The paper presents the comparison of PBL with traditional learning in the teaching of geography in high school. Comparative analysis of the results of the pedagogical experiment, which included three high schools, 14 classes with 339 students, is carried out. In the statistical analysis of data t-test was used to check the hypothesis on the differences of the arithmetic means. The results of the final test showed that there was a significant difference in the arithmetic means between the students who had taken a PBL course and the students who had taken a traditional course. It can be concluded that PBL has a positive impact on improving student achievement in the learning of geography in elementary and secondary schools.

Why you need a teacher in high school, just as the carrier and transmitter of information? But it is in this capacity he is much inferior to many other sources of information such as books and computers. Higher education institution serves not only and may be not so much for the transfer specialized knowledge but for the development and reproduction of specific cultural group, the most important element of which is itself a specialist. He is characterized as a representative of a particular culture not only a specific set of knowledge and skills, but also a certain worldview, life attitudes and values, especially the of professional conduct and others. So the teacher not only sends the student knowledge and professional skills, and attaches it to a specific culture, and that this culture was developed and reproduced needed live people, live human communication. This truth more than a hundred years ago formulated by K. D. Ushinsky: “Only a person can act on the development and definition of personality, only nature can be used to form the character” [Ушинский 1984: 78–83].

Student uniqueness demands that the teacher/catechist is inventive not only in the learning methods and teaching techniques employed but also in the way content is structured. Only in this way can the teacher ascertain that his/her students’ requirements are met and, consequently, student learning facilitated. However, teachers’ creativity should not mean haphazard choice of methods and techniques. Teaching is both an art and a science. The limitless nature of creativity should be used judiciously and made to bear fruit through the application of knowledge of educational psychology and instructional design. By using Adaptive Religious Education, the teacher may be guided to use different techniques in a methodical manner in order to ensure and enhance student learning. In particular, thesystematic use of different symbol systems can help teachers to improve student learning. The paper will put forward a number of principles and practical suggestions that may guide teachers in planning R.E. lessons.

It is one of the oldest and most effective methods of working with a student – a method which builds upon the growing relationship between the teacher and the student, often called the master‒student method or simply tutoring – and yet, it is still not common in Polish universities. One may say that from the view of the general public this method is considered elitist, because for various reasons it has been understood that only a small group of selected students can be taught this way, and only a few can use this method. Hence, in order to make certain how it is actually understood, a survey was prepared and presented to two groups of people: a group of students and graduates of the College of Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Wrocław, and a group of 125 employees of the University of Wrocław who worked as tutors in the past. It remains to be hoped that tutoring will be introduced into the education system in Poland not only in higher education – as has already begun to happen – but also on a larger scale in secondary and primary education. Regardless of how tutoring is actually perceived fortunately it is becoming an increasingly popular teaching method in Poland.

Nowadays using graphic display calculators (GDCs) is becoming more and more popular in learning and teaching mathematics. One of the main usages of this device is to obtain a graph of almost all functions with one variable. If we have a graph of a function we can observe some special properties of the function. Graphic display calculators (even without computer algebra system (CAS)) can do even more - calculate derivative at any point and draw graphs of derivatives of the first and the second degree, find other properties of functions like: minimum, maximum, x- and y-intercepts and so on. Traditionally students are taught differentiation while using limits of functions. Hence the natural question is whether there exists another method of teaching about differentiation? The aim of this paper is to analyze attempts of teaching some aspects of differentiation with using GDC.

Article focuses on the changing role of the teacher, which affects the nature of contemporary social change. The current form of education based on the schematic action and “safe” methods of teaching, does not meet the needs of the generation brought up in the world of new technologies. Requirements for modern teachers are associated with the creation of the student's education, so as to trigger the need for questioning and seeking answers, stimulate motivation, develop bold decisions and innovative actions and thinking.

Opis:
This paper explores social responsibility training as part of university educational programmes. The authors compare French and Bulgarian students’ perceptions of various elements of social responsibility and how social responsibility is approached in universities’ curricula. Bulgarian students see social responsibility more often in terms of volunteer work, charitable activities and career opportunities, while French students associate it with environmental aspects. The only statistically significant gender difference in Bulgaria emerged in linking improving working conditions with social responsibility. French students placed stronger emphasis on business and the possible practical applications of social responsibility training offered by universities.

Opis:
The article presents educational activities of the Children’s University of Interesting History. The various methods that allow effective teaching of the history are analyzed. The Children’s University of Interesting History has been a part of Warsaw educational market for six years. The case study included in the paper illustrates the university’s unique methods and attitude towards students. The author analyzes different teaching methods and educational goals concerning every university group, from the youngest students – Observers and Explorers, by Travelers and Researchers up to the oldest – Creators. Such a diversified approach allows building the coherent vision of history. Teaching this vision is the basic concept of the Children’s University of Interesting History, which is also visible in practice. Referring to what Leszek Kołakowski says, one may call such approach a translation project.
