Opis:
In this study, it was achieved by using the method of impulse noise to detect internal or surface cracks that can occur in the production of ceramic plates. Ceramic materials are often used in the industry, especially as kitchenware and in areas such as the construction sector. Many different methods are used in the quality assurance processes of ceramic materials. In this study, the impact noise method was examined. This method is a test technique that was not used in applications. The method is presented as an examination technique based on whether there is a deformation on the material according to the sound coming from it as a result of a plastic bit hammer impact on the ceramic material. The application of the study was performed on plates made of ceramic materials. Here, it was made with the same type of model plates manufactured from the same material. The noise that would occur as a result of the impact applied on a point determined on the materials to be tested has been examined by the method of time-frequency analysis. The method applied gives pretty good results for distinguishing ceramic plates in good condition from those which are cracked.

Opis:
Extending the use of the p–y curves included in the regulation codes API and DNV to design large-diameter monopiles supporting offshore wind turbines (OWTs) was unsuccessful as it resulted in an inaccurate estimation of the monopile behavior. This had prompted many investigators to propose formulations to enhance the performances of Winkler model. In this paper, two case studies are considered. A case consisting of an OWT at Horns Rev (Denmark) supported by a monopile in a sandy soil was studied first. Taking the FEA using ABAQUS as reference, results of WILDOWER 1.0 (a Winkler computer code) using the recently proposed p–y curves giving design parameters were plotted and evaluated. In order to see the ability of proposed p–y curves to predict the monopile head movements, and consequently the first natural frequency (1st NF), a second case study consisting of a monopile supporting an OWT at North Hoyle (UK) was selected. The monopile head stiffness in terms of lateral, rocking, and cross-coupling stiffness coefficients, necessary for the 1st NF, were computed using both ABAQUS and WILDPOWER 1.0. Comparisons with the measured 1st NF showed that with the exception of one p–y model, none of other proposed Winkler methods is able to predict accurately this parameter.

Opis:
In this paper, the vibration analysis in terms of modal and harmonic responses are investigated for the power station structure of Kenyir Dam in Terengganu, Malaysia. Modal analysis is carried out to provide the dynamic characteristics of the power station which includes the natural frequencies and mode shapes. Meanwhile, the harmonic response analysis is performed by applying the force to the structure to obtain the Frequency Response Function (FRF) in certain range of frequencies. A real scale threedimensional (3D) model of the Kenyir Dam power station is constructed using Solid Works software and imported to ANSYS software for the Finite Element (FE) analysis. A proper boundary condition is taken into consideration to demonstrate the real behaviour of the power station structure. From the results, six most significant natural frequencies and mode shapes including the FRF in all three axes are selected. The highest natural frequency value occurred at 5.4 Hz with the maximum deflection of 0.90361 m in the z axis direction. This value is important in order to verify whether the structure can overcome the resonance phenomenon from the external disturbance forces in the future.

Opis:
Functionally Graded Materials (FGM) are extensively employed for hip plant component material due to their certain properties in a specific design to achieve the requirements of the hip-joint system. Nevertheless, if there are similar properties, it doesn’t necessarily indicate that the knee plant is efficiently and effectively working. Therefore, it is important to develop an ideal design of functionally graded material femoral components that can be used for a long period. A new ideal design of femoral prosthesis can be introduced using functionally graded fiber polymer (FGFP) which will reduce the stress shielding and the corresponding stresses present over the interface. Herein, modal analysis of the complete hip plant part is carried out, which is the main factor and to date, very few research studies have been found on it. Moreover, this enhances the life of hip replacement, and the modal, harmonic, and fatigue analysis determines the pre-loading failure phenomena due to the vibrational response of the hip. This study deals with the cementless hip plant applying the finite element analysis (FEA) model in which geometry is studied, and the femoral bone model is based in a 3D scan.

Opis:
Frequency Response Analysis (FRA) is one of diagnostic methods for power transformer state. At present measurements are taken on the base of diagnostic personnel experience and manuals of commercial devices. There are some important measuring issues, given in the paper, which are interpreted in different ways by various diagnostic companies. This leads to difficult or even impossible analysis of measured data, as the FRA method is based on com-parison, very often visual, of recorded curves. In over one year there will be published IEC 60076-18 standard, which describes techniques of taking the measurements and properties of measuring devices. The author is a member of working group preparing this standard. This paper describes basic principles of FRA mea-surements, with focus on issues which have significant impact on measurements, but often depend on personnel habits and can be easily adopted to IEC standard.

Opis:
The paper presents the idea of a Cross Test Comparison (CTC) method for the analysis of Frequency Response measurement results. FRA is used to detect deformations or electric faults in transformer windings. At the current stage of FRA method development, it is possible to perform repetitive measurements, however there are still problems with interpretation of test results. Authors of this paper found that analysis of results coming from two test setups (end-to-end and interwinding capacitive), which is done simultaneously is a more sensitive tool to detect some faults, and in addition it binds the influence of both voltage sides of a transformer in a single test result. The paper contains results obtained from laboratory tests, where controlled deformations were introduced into windings and also measurements from industry. The CTC method combines both the end-to-end and capacitive interwinding measurements into a single dataset, by subtracting the amplitudes at the corresponding frequencies. The resulting combined dataset is more sensitive in identifying deviations from baseline measurements.

The diagnostics of power transformers is a very fast developing branch. Due to increasing average age of assets and changes in asset management strategies, nowadays companies introduce asset management based on technical condition. One of important methods used for diagnostics of a transformer’s active part is Frequency Response Analysis (FRA). It allows determination of mechanical condition of windings, their displacements, deformations and electric faults, as well as some problems with internal leads and connections, core and bushings. In the FRA measurements of many power transformers there can be observed a first resonance, which position on frequency axis and damping factor seems to be similar for primary and secondary windings. The authors are going to explain this strange phenomenon, not depending on inductance of the winding being measured.

Opis:
The paper presents results of deformational tests conducted on the real transformer. The aim of the research was to compare the influence of various winding deformations on the frequency response measured in standard end-to-end connection setup as well as in interwinding setup. The results showed that for all kinds of simulated deformations interwinding measurements show changes in wide frequency range. In many cases these changes are easier to be detected than for end-to-end measurements. It is recommended to perform interwinding measurements for transformers having changes in frequency response after standard end-to-end tests.

Results of deformational tests performed on RTdxP 160 MVA autotransformer are described in the paper. It was based on the infliction of controlled changes in transformer's structure, and changes in measurements of FRA curves (Frequency Response Analysis) were detected. The first issue analyzed in the experiment was change of insulating liquid. It gave clear results - a shift of transformer response along frequency, resulting from permittivity changes of insulating medium. Following tests showed influence of rough deformations of regulation windings, as well as, influence of small deformations in series winding (HV). Part of the HV winding was deformed axially and radially. Also some short-circuits between windings were simulated. On the base of obtained results it was possible to draw conclusions concerning correct interpretation and analysis of FRA results. One of important conclusions is that small changes in winding geometry or local short-circuits can be difficult to detect in case of geometrically large transformers.

Trzy fazy napięcia i prądu zostały zmierzone w trzech wybranych punktach sieci zasilającej.
This paper presents the results of measurement experiment conducted in the operating steel plant. The measurement system was built with real time system with FPGA module, capable of measuring analog signals. Three phase voltages and currents were acquired in three selected points of supplying power network. Frequency analysis of measured signals revealed an interesting phenomenon, as it happened that after switching off the electric arc furnace, the frequency of the supplying voltage and current increased slightly instead of decreasing, as we would normally expect. This abnormal frequency behavior was identified by phasor analysis and also confirmed by DTFT (Discrete Time Fourier Transform) analysis, and MatrixPencil analysis. Performed measurements proved phasor analysis to be a useful application for electric arc furnace frequency monitoring.
