Opis:: Despite the ambiguity of the term discourse in German studies on discourse, a tendency is visible to specify the term for the purposes of particular research studies. These issues are addressed in the opening sections of the article. The article also discusses the relation between text and discourse, and reaches the conclusion stating that discourse linguistics is more than merely an extension of text linguistics, as both phenomena, i.e., text and discourse display a difference in quality. A question is also raised about the place of text in various trends of research on discourse. Particular schools/research groups show diversity in terms of theoretical conceptions, research methods, as well as in relation to the reception of Foucault’s ideas. Texts are in them undoubtedly an element of continuing discourse in the sense of corpus, in discourse analysis itself, however, researchers frequently focus only on selected linguistic aspects, rarely relying on text linguistics tools. The closing sections present a few suggestions within text-oriented discourse linguistics, which is understood here as a trend of the evolutionary character.

Opis:: This paper focuses on the phenomenon of profiling and invokes the proposition by Waldemar Czachur (2011) to integrate the Polish school of ethnolinguistics with German discourse linguistics (Diskurslinguistik) in order to investigate the essence of dynamic profiling of meanings and senses. The paper aims to demonstrate further opportunities for such integration. As a point of departure, it uses the definition of profiling by Ronald W. Langacker (1987, 1991, 2009) and attempts to embed it within the paradigms of German text linguistics and discourse linguistics. The categories considered in the paper, undoubtedly subject to the profiling process, include the discourse topic and topics raised in discourse.
Niniejszy artykuł poświęcony jest zjawisku profilowania, a przedstawione tutaj rozważania nawiązują do zaproponowanej przez Waldemara Czachura (2011) integracji polskiej szkoły etnolingwistycznej i niemieckiej lingwistyki dyskursu przy wyjaśnianiu istoty dynamicznego profilowania znaczeń i sensów. Celem artykułu jest wykazanie dalszych możliwości integracji. Punktem wyjścia staje się bowiem definicja profilowania, której autorem jest Ronald W. Langacker (1987, 1991, 2009) i podjęcie próby wpisania jej w paradygmaty niemieckiej lingwistyki tekstu i dyskursu. Kategorami, którym poświęcona zostanie uwaga, a które niewątpliwie podlegają procesowi profilowania, są temat dyskursu oraz tematy podejmowane w dyskursie.

Opis:: The goal of the article is to introduce school books as a possible object of study of contrastive discourse linguistics. The analysis of selected German and Polish history textbooks for the level Oberstufe II/Liceum provides, thanks to its contrastiveness, information about similarities and differences (or gaps, fr. le non dit) between the presented knowledge about neighbouring countries and binational relationships. The imparted knowledge order can be recognized at the word-level, in text strategies, text-image relations, and at the level of discourse. The article outlines several examples of these kinds of knowledge manifestations distinctive for Polish-German affairs. The result of the multi-level analysis serves to elicit the role of a textbook as a knowledge-canonising medium and its influence on formation of the normalization discourse as well as to criticize this medium especially in consideration of meta-linguistic aspects.
Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na podręczniki szkolne jako na przedmiot badawczy kontrastywnej lingwistyki dyskursu. Analizie poddane zostały wybrane niemieckie i polskie podręczniki do historii na poziomie liceum/Oberstufe II. Analiza kontrastywna dostarcza informacji o podobieństwach i różnicach (także o „lukach treściowych”) występujących w sposobie przedstawiania wiedzy o danym kraju i o wzajemnych relacjach polsko-niemieckich. Porządek wiedzy obecny w polskich i niemieckich podręcznikach można wyśledzić w oparciu o zjawiska występujące na płaszczyźnie słowa, w strategiach tekstowych, relacjach tekst – obraz oraz na płaszczyźnie dyskursywnej. Wyniki analizy wielopłaszczyznowej wskazują na szczególną rolę podręczników w kształtowaniu kanonu wiedzy oraz dyskursu o normalizacji stosunków polsko-niemieckich, uwzględniają one przy tym także aspekty metajęzykowe.

Opis:: The current German discourse on euthanasia may readily be reduced to the main topic of ‘Pro vs. Contra active euthanasia’. In this respect, we are dealing not so much with a factual debate but, rather, with attempts at exerting considerable influence on opponents’ emotional attitude towards (active) euthanasia. Based on publicly communicated texts, the Author identifies contrasting modes of thought which, during the last two decades, have determined a set of emotionally charged arguments thus constituting the discourse topic as a communicative reality. It will be shown that opponents of the discourse support the contrasting emotional assessment of (active) euthanasia by means of context-specific topoi of argumentation. Since these topoi cannot be described linguistically without making reference to a cognitive-semantic representation format, we will use the frame approach as a more comprehensive model. Based on knowledge-based analysis that specific knowledge will be elicited, which, on a deep semantic level, underlies various competing discourse contributions and constitutes a discourse topic based on an excerpt of a thinking pattern typical of its time.
Der aktuelle deutsche Sterbehilfediskurs lässt sich auf das Hauptthema „Pro vs. Contra (aktive) Sterbehilfe“ reduzieren, wobei es weniger um eine Sachdebatte als um eine Beeinflussung der emotionalen Einstellung zur (aktiven) Sterbehilfe beim Diskursgegner geht. Aus öffentlich kommunizierten Texten werden die kontrastierenden Denkweisen ermittelt, die innerhalb der letzten zwei Jahrzehnte die emotional geführte Argumentation bestimmen und damit das Diskursthema als kommunikative Wirklichkeit konstituieren. Gezeigt wird, dass die Diskursgegner die kontrastierende emotionale Bewertung der (aktiven) Sterbehilfe mit Hilfe von kontextspezifischen Argumentationstopoi stützen. Da diese linguistisch nicht ohne Bezug auf ein kognitiv-semantisches Repräsentationsformat beschreibbar sind, wird der Frame-Ansatz als das umfassendere Modell herangezogen. Im Ergebnis der wissensbezogenen Analyse wird dasjenige verstehensrelevante Wissen eruiert, das den konkurrierenden Diskursbeiträgen tiefensemantisch zugrunde liegt und einen Ausschnitt zeittypischen Denkens zum Diskursthema ausmacht.

Opis:: This article addresses the latest stage of transformations in Polish scientific discourse, the origins of which are commonly traced back to the 16th century in relation to Polish culture. The paper provides a synthetic and report-like overview, offering several key insights regarding the examined area of communication: 1. Changes in the discourse in contemporary humanities, influenced by the intellectual aura of postmodernism, pertain to certain areas of scientific reflection. 2. Science reflects the transformations in cultural and social nature, thus scientific discourse absorbs the characteristics of the world it describes. 3. Revaluations within scientific discourse serve as a certain signal of its denormalisation, although this process does not encompass the entirety of scientific communication but rather signifies cracks and shifts that emerge in the proposed and normative understanding of discourse. 4. Transformations within scientific discourse should not be regarded as a crisis, but rather as manifestations of certain qualities and general tendencies in culture that may bring new and surprising effects in the future. 5. The transformations of scientific discourse are also influenced by the field in which it operates. The specific nature of humanities sciences, situated in a particular way in relation to other branches of knowledge, should be taken into account. 6. Despite changes in the scope of scientific discourse, many of its characteristics remain relevant. 7. Scientific discourse should not be regarded as monolithic; on the contrary, it is a complex, multidimensional quality dependent on various aspects. 8. The specificity of scientific discourse as one of the areas of communication becomes more graspable when examined from a certain distance. Therefore, a historical perspective on the issue proves fortunate for the proposed conclusions.

Opis:: School textbooks have rarely been examined by text linguistics up to now, yet they appear particularly interesting from the perspective of contrastive studies. As an important element in societies’ education systems, textbooks are interrelated with many other texts (from curricula to examinations) and, in certain countries, have to be licensed by governmental authorities. Textbooks are not genres in the strict sense. Rather, they represent a complex multimedia ensemble of different modules, and in many cases their coherent sense may be reconstructed only in classroom work. This paper uses history textbooks (chapters on the Russian Revolution) as examples to demonstrate such particularities, taking into account bi- and multi-national projects. An explorative study of school textbooks used in England, France, Germany, as well as German- and French-speaking Switzerland presents different levels of analysis (covering content and form) and shows considerable variations not only across, but also within nations and linguistic areas.
Schulbücher haben bislang in der Textlinguistik wenig Interesse gefunden, stellen aber gerade für kontrastive Studien einen besonders aufschlussreichen Gegenstand dar: Sie stellen ein Element im Erziehungssystem der Gesellschaft dar, sind mit vielen anderen Texten vernetzt (von Lehrplänen bis zu Prüfungen) und unterliegen in bestimmten Ländern direkter staatlicher Kontrolle. Es handelt sich nicht um eine Textsorte im engen Sinne, sondern um einen komplexen und multimedialen Verbund verschiedener Bausteine, aus denen teilweise erst im Unterricht ein kohärentes Ganzes rekonstruiert werden kann. Der Beitrag stellt diese Zusammenhänge am Beispiel von Lehrwerken für den Geschichtsunterricht vor und bezieht dabei auch bi- und multinationale Projekte ein. Eine Untersuchung von Lehrwerken (Kapitel zur Russischen Revolution) für England, Frankreich, Deutschland und die deutsch- und französischsprachige Schweiz stellt Analysemöglichkeiten auf verschiedenen Ebenen (inhaltlich und formal) vor und zeigt, dass mit relativ großer Varianz der Lehrmittelgestaltung nicht nur zwischen, sondern auch innerhalb von Nationen und Sprachräumen zu rechnen ist.

Opis:: This paper focuses on the question of conditions under which a written or a spoken phrase can be interpreted as ‘critical’. After all, the possibility to express something in different ways—contrasted with the expressions that have already been uttered - is one of the main features of language in use. Contrastive discourse linguistics as critical practice interrelates expressions from different languages. In this way, it shows alternative expressions and thoughts beyond their own discursive environment.
Punktem wyjścia podjętych w pracy rozważań jest odpowiedź na pytanie dotyczące warunków, które muszą zostać spełnione, by móc uznać realizację jakiegoś wyrażenia za ‘krytyczne’ na tle innych. Każdy odmienny sposób wyrażania (pojmowany tutaj jako ciągłe re-formułowanie i tym samym kontrastowanie z tym, co zostało już powiedziane, czyli proces nieodłącznie wpisany w codzienną komunikację) stanowi wszakże podstawową właściwość języka w użyciu. Skupiając się na relacjach wyrażeń pochodzących z różnych języków, kontrastywna lingwistyka dyskursu w ujęciu krytycznym, ukazuje na ich tle alternatywne możliwości wyrażania i sposoby myślenia.
Ausgangspunkt ist die Frage, welche Bedingungen erfüllt sein müssen, um die sprachliche Realisierung eines Ausdrucks im Kontrast zu anderen Ausdrücken als ,kritisch‘ bewerten zu können. Schließlich ist das Anders-Sagen als stetige Re-Formulierung und der damit einhergehende alltägliche gesellschaftliche Vorgang der Kontrastierung zu bereits Gesagtem eine grundlegende Eigenschaft von Sprache im Gebrauch. Kontrastive Diskurslinguistik als kritisches Verfahren verstanden setzt Ausdrücke unterschiedlicher Sprachen in Beziehung und zeigt dadurch alternativen Ausdrucks- und Denkweisen auf.

Opis:: Discourse Linguistics, an applied field of research focused on complex contentmacrostructures open to multiple transformations in functioning, currently raises such a research problem as how to cope with its multidimensional units staying focused on its holistic nature. For this integrative methodological platforms are introduced and tested. The authors, accepting discourse community representations built within the composites of the image-making discourse type as a forefront research object, introduce and verify such kind of a platform both theoretically and practically (on the discourse of respondents who represent one of currently built Belarusian discourse communities). The approaches inbuilt into the platform are Tartu-Moscow semiotic school (Lotman 2005, 205-226), French school of discourse analysis (Maingueneau 2002, 185-190), the causal-genetic approach of discourse modeling / CGA (Oukhvanova 2017, 5-16), and Swales’ approach to discourse community research (2016).

Vertikale wie horizontale Text(sorten)verschränkungen, aus denen sich ihre funktionale und/oder thematische Spezifik und Eigenart ergibt und aus denen die sog. kreative Komponente in einem gegebenen Diskurs oder Diskursausschnitt herausgearbeitet werden kann, können komplementär zur Diskurse determinierenden Iterativität von Phänomenen stehen, die sich aus dem Korpus ergibt. An einigen Exemplifizierungen aus dem in der deutschen und polnischen Presse u. a. im Jahre 2006 kreierten Diskursausschnitt zu Vertreibungen wird im vorliegenden Beitrag versucht, mögliche Ebenen für solche Kooperationen vorzuschlagen.
For a linguistics-oriented discourse researcher there is no doubt that the approach to analytical practice of discourse which is based on text linguistics and linguistics of text types lies in the centre of their attention and seems obvious. In this context the concepts of the incorporation of text types’ interrelations in discursive projects, formulated by Kirsten Adamzik, should be considered as anexpansion of the linguistic cooperation between text linguistics and discourse linguistics. Vertical and horizontal interrelations between text types give rise to their specific functional and/or thematic character. Moreover, in that way the creative components of text types can be developed in discourse analysis. All of them can be seen as complementary to the iterativity that forms a discourse in the analysed corpus. Based on the discourse on the so-called ‘expellees’, created by the Polish and German press in, e.g., 2006, the author will attempt to demonstrate some practical levels of such cooperation.
Dla lingwistycznie ukierunkowanego badacza dyskursu nie ulega wątpliwości, że wynikające z założeń lingwistyki tekstu i lingwistyki rodzaju tekstu podejście do analitycznej praktyki dyskursu jest pierwszoplanowe, i do tego oczywiste. W tym kontekście należy rozumieć koncepty włączenia sieci rodzajów tekstów do projektów analizujących dyskursy, sformułowane m. in. przez Kirsten Adamzik, jako rozszerzenie kooperacji między lingwistyką tekstu a lingwistyką dyskursu. Wertykalne i horyzontalne powiązania rodzajów tekstów, z których wynika funkcjonalna i/lub tematyczna specyfika, dzięki której można wypracować tzw. komponent kreatywny rodzaju tekstu w danym dyskursie lub jego fragmencie, mogą być komplementarne do iteratywności zjawisk dyskursywnych, wynikających z korpusu. Na kilku egzemplifikacjach z wycinka dyskursu na temat wypędzonych, kreowanego w polskiej i niemieckiej prasie m. in. w 2006 roku, zostanie podjęta próba wykazania kilku możliwych płaszczyzn owej kooperacji.

Opis:: In dieser Arbeit wird die Diskurslinguistik weder als eine Methodologie noch als eine Forschungsperspektive definiert, sondern als ein transdisziplinäres Forschungsprogramm, das sich die positiven Errungenschaften des tiefgreifenden Wandels in den Geisteswissenschaften zunutze macht. Ihr Forschungsgegenstand sind die diskursspezifischen Relationen zwischen dem Sprachgebrauch, den kollektiven Wissensformationen und den kulturellen Prozessen. Von Interesse ist dabei, wie die sprachlichen Perspektivierungen kollektive Bedeutungen konstituieren und damit spezifische Weltbilder modellieren. Auf diese Weise wird die Diskurslinguistik zu einer integrierenden und projektierenden Linguistik. Wenn ihr Forschungsgegenstand, ihr Erkenntnisinteresse und ihr Forschungsverfahren in einem Projekt erfasst werden, integriert sie verschiedene theoretische, methodologische und methodische Perspektiven.
In this paper, discourse linguistics is defined neither as a methodology nor as a research perspective, but as a transdisciplinary research programme that draws on the broadly defined changes in humanities. Discourse linguistics studies the discursively shaped relations between the use of language, collective belief systems, knowledge selection processes and culture, and it also asks how linguistic perspectivising creates socially shared meanings, thus modeling specific images of reality. Thus, discourse linguistics becomes an integrative and designing discipline. It integrates different theoretical, methodological and methodical perspectives in designing its research subject, cognitive objective and research procedure.

Opis:: The language situation in Belarus is atypical in many respects and difficult to grasp theoretically: for its analysis, it is particularly important to consider the internal perspective, i.e. attitudes towards the language. The aim of the study is to develop an interdisciplinary set of analytical instruments for the discursive determination and detailed description of (language) attitudes by integrating a socio-psychological attitude model and a discourse-linguistic topos-based multi-level analysis. This tool can be used to record the contradictory construct of the national language in collective thinking in Belarus and to gain knowledge on how to design language planning activities in the country. The identified discursive argumentation architecture can serve as a reference base when setting up argumentation typologies in relation to non-dominant national languages. The research model created is intended to allow each social discipline to engage in a differentiated examination of attitudes towards all discursively present socially relevant objects in a generalized manner.

Opis:: Der Artikel ist fokussiert auf das Verhältnis zwischen Diskursmarker und den Prozess der Rezeption. Unter Nutzung der Begriffe und Methoden der Diskurslinguistik ist es möglich, die unterhalb der Textoberfläche wirkenden Prozesse zu beschreiben und so ein besseres Verständnis von dem Zusammenwirken von Konzept auf der einen Seite und benutzten stilistischen Elementen wie Allegorie auf der anderen Seite zu erhalten. Es war auch möglich zu demonstrieren, dass die Art des Mediums, kombiniert mit einem speziellen Netzwerk von Wissen, spezielle Typen textueller Strukturen und sprachliche Mittel offeriert. Zusammenfassend kann festgehalten werden, dass die kognitive Linguistik in Kombination mit Methoden der Diskursanalyse, ein signifikante Menge an Werkzeugen für die systematische Erforschung von Texten und Diskursen bereitstellt.
The article is focused on the relationship between discourse markers and the process of reception. By using terms and methods of discourse linguistics, it is possible to describe the processes working under the surface of texts and discourses and to obtain a better understanding of the cooperation between the concept on the one side and used stylistic elements such as allegory on the other side. It was also possible to demonstrate that the kind of medium combined with a special network of knowledge offers special types of textual structures and language tools. In conclusion, we would maintain that cognitive linguistics in combination with methods of discourse analysis provides a significant set of tools for the systematic investigation of texts and discourse.
Tematem artykułu jest relacja pomiędzy znacznikami dyskursu a procesem jego recepcji. Użycie terminów i metod lingwistyki dyskursu umożliwia opis procesów działających pod powierzchnią tekstów i dyskursów, a także lepsze zrozumienie wzajemnych oddziaływań pomiędzy konceptem z jednej strony a użytymi elementami stylistycznymi, takimi jak alegoria, z drugiej. Analiza umożliwiła pokazanie, że rodzaj medium w połączeniu ze szczególną siecią wiedzy stwarza szczególne rodzaje struktur tekstowych i narzędzi językowych. Podsumowując, można stwierdzić, że lingwistyka kognitywna w połączeniu z metodami analizy dyskursu dostarcza ważnych narzędzi dla systematycznych badań tekstów i dyskursów.

Die Datenbasis besteht somit aus verschiedenen sprachbasierten und multimodalen Einheiten. Ziel ist es, zu zeigen, wie rechte Diskursgemeinschaften in Deutschland durch Wir-Sie-Relationen, Benennungspraktiken und visuelle Muster im Zeitverlauf und plattformübergreifend konstruiert werden.
The article examines how right-wing discourse communities are linguistically and visually constituted in social media in the context of flight, migration and Islam. The PEGIDA Facebook Corpus covering user comments (2014–2015), the PolRrA Corpus containing right-wing populist speeches (2016–2017) and the Instagram Corpus of the hashtag #identitäre (2019–2020) with postings and user comments are the data basis. Thus the corpus consists of different language-based and multimodal entities. The aim is to show how right-wing discourse communities in Germany are constituted by us-you relations, naming practices and visual patterns across time, platform and organization.

Opis:: The combination of linguistics and cultural analysis leads back to Wilhelm von Humboldt’s concept of linguistic worldview. In it, a direct connection between thinking and speaking (in a particular ethnic or national language) is presupposed, thus implying the influence of languages on cultures. In contrast to this postulate of the unity of languages and cultures, discourse-sensitive linguistics shows the diversity of varieties within ethno- or national-language-demarcated cultures. Linguistics in cultural studies thus escapes the danger of hypostasis of languages and cultures and methodologically becomes an integrative linguistics in which systemic, pragma- and sociolinguistic methods can be incorporated. Discourse-sensitive cultural linguistics analyzes cultures according to thematic and, above all, institutional discourses (of politics, religion, law, economics, science, etc.) and examines language use down to the level of individual utterances and their linguistic microstructures within the framework of these discursive macro levels. Another type is perlocutionary discourses which almost exclusively aim at the effect of communicative actions: advertising, propaganda, scandalous discourses etc. Discourse types are shown by Russian examples, especially the Russian national hymn, the provocative performances of the group Pussy Riot as an example of scandalous discourses, and state patriotic education as an example of propaganda discourses.
Badania lingwistyczne, które stawiają sobie za cel analizę kulturową, odwołują się do koncepcji językowego obrazu świata Wilhelma von Humboldta. Koncepcja ta zakłada istnienie bezpośredniego związku między myśleniem a mówieniem (w danym języku etnicznym lub narodowym), co również implikuje wpływ języków na kultury. W przeciwieństwie do postulatu zakładającego jedność/homogeniczność języków i kultur lingwistyka zorientowana dyskursologicznie zwraca uwagę na fakt, że kultury i ich języki są zróżnicowane. W ten sposób lingwistyka kulturoznawcza chce uniknąć niebezpieczeństwa hipostazy języków i kultur, a jednocześnie staje się w ujęciu metodologicznym lingwistyką integrującą, która uwzględnia metody z zakresu analizy systemu języka, jak i z zakresu pragma- oraz socjolingwistyki. Lingwistyka kulturoznawcza zorientowano dyskursologicznie porządkuje kultury według dyskursów tematycznych, a także instytucjonalnych (dyskursy polityki, religii, prawa, ekonomii, nauki itp.) oraz bada użycie języka aż do poziomu wypowiedzi indywidualnych i ich językowych mikrostruktur przez pryzmat ich funkcji w dyskursie. Innym rodzajem są dyskursy perlokutacyjne, które niemal wyłącznie dążą do wywołania u odbiorcy określonego efektu: reklama, propaganda, dyskursy skandalu itp. Istotę wymienionych rodzajów dyskursu pokazano na przykładach pochodzących z rosyjskiego obszaru językowo-kulturowego, w szczególności na przykładzie hymnu narodowego Rosji, prowokacyjnych wystąpień grupy Pussy Riot, które uznajemy za przykład dyskursów skandalu, oraz państwowej edukacji patriotycznej uchodzącej za przykład dyskursów propagandowych.

Opis:: Speech acts identification by the participants of interaction in public communication The purpose of this article is to analyze the public discourse in terms of speech acts identification by the participants of the interaction. The research material comes from two radio programs (“Radio Zet-Guest” and “The 7th Day of the Week”), in which a journalist interviews politicians. Political discourse is not a field of creating sincere speech acts, but rather a playground on which identifying speech acts is strategically important. The preinteraction is very important, which determines both the creation and perception of speech acts. This manifests itself in breaching the preferred communication behaviors, and instead using avoidance strategies. With the development of the discourse in time it becomes more and more authentic and discourse participants “truly” identify speech acts.

Opis:: Application of step-method in conversation for research of media interaction on local level The goal of this article is to adjust research tool, such as step-method in conversation (originally created for colloquial conversation analysis) to explore public discourse. Political debate in the media has been choosen as a research material. Local level of dialog means investigating structure created by consecutive interlocutors. This is an effect of their cooperation, therefore regard and reference to utterance, common topic exploration. Medial interaction analysis showed differences between colloquial conversation and public debate in their organization and goal. Types of journalist’s steps named initial, steering and reacting constitute a structural skeleton for each of the segments. Leader’s organizational activities play an important part. He directs interlocutors’ activity to be in line with species requirements as well as with medial discourse. Controversial, beeing an expression of negative opinions, clear valuate and persuasive function content is picked up and exposed.

Opis:: The paper asks whether contrastive studies are conducted within the framework of French discourse analysis and attempts to find an answer to that question. First, the Author offers a brief overview of the origins of Polish textology and French discourse analysis, and explains the differences in how these two streams of linguistics approach comparative studies. While contrastive studies are not undertaken by French discourse analysts, recent years have seen attempts at comparing sociolinguistic behaviours using the criterion of occupation as well as cultural differences.
Artykuł jest próbą znalezienia odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy w ramach francuskiej analizy dyskursu prowadzone są badania kontrastywne. Autorka przypomina w skrócie genezę polskiej tekstologii i francuskiej analizy dyskursu, tłumacząc różnice w podejściu obu lingwistyk do badań porównawczych. Francuscy dyskursywiści nie prowadzą badań kontrastywnych; można jednak w ostatnich latach zauważyć tendencje do porównywania zachowań społeczno-językowych w aspekcie wykonywanych zawodów oraz ze względu na różnice międzykulturowe.

Opis:: The present paper explores the current nexus between Cognitive Linguistics (CL) and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), focusing on theories of conceptual positioning, distancing and perspective-taking in discourse space. It assesses the strengths, limitations, and prospects for further operationalization of positioning as a valid methodology in CDA, and political discourse studies in particular. In the first part, I review the cognitive models of positioning that have made the most significant contribution to CDA. Discussing Deictic Space Theory and Text World Theory, among others, I argue that these models reveal further theoretical potential which has not been exploited yet. While they offer a comprehensive and plausible account of how representations and ideologically charged worldviews are established, they fail to deliver a pragmatic explanation of how addressees are made to establish a worldview, in the service of speaker’s goals. The second part of the paper outlines Proximization Theory, a discursive model of crisis and conflict construction in political discourse. I argue that, unlike the other models, it fully captures the complex geopolitical and ideological positioning in political discourse space, providing a viable handle on the dynamics of conflict between the opposing ideologies of the space.
