Let $ A $ be a bounded linear operator in a complex separable Hilbert space, $ A^∗ $ be its adjoint one and $ A_I := (A − A^∗)//(2i) $. Assuming that $A_I $ is a Hilbert-Schmidt operator, we investigate perturbations of the imaginary parts of the eigenvalues of $ A $. Our results are formulated in terms of the “extended” eigenvalue sets in the sense introduced by T. Kato. Besides, we refine the classical Weyl inequality $ \Sigma_{k=1}^\infty (Im \lambda_k (A))^2 ≤ N_2^2 (A_I) $, where $ λk(A) (k = 1, 2, . . .) $ are the eigenvalues of $ A $ and $ N_2(·) $ is the Hilbert-Schmidt norm. In addition, we discuss applications of our results to the Jacobi operators.

In this paper, we fix N -many l$\text{}_{2}$-Hilbert spaces Hk whose dimensions are $n_{k} \in \mathbb{N}^{\infty} = \mathbb{N} \cup \{\infty\}$ for $k = 1, \ldots, N \in \mathbb{N} \backslash \{1\}$. And then, construct a Hilbert space $\mathfrak{F} = \mathfrak{F}[H_{1}, \ldots, H_{N}]$ induced by $H_{1}, \ldots, H_{N}$, and study certain types of operators on $\mathfrak{F}$. In particular, we are interested in so-called jump-shift operators. The main results (i) characterize the spectral properties of these operators, and (ii) show how such operators affect the semicircular law induced by $\bigcup_{k=1}^{N} \mathcal{B}_{k}$, where Bk are the orthonormal bases of $H_{k}$ , for k = 1, . . . , N.

In a recent paper, Carlson, Foiaş, Williams and the author proved that isometric Hilbert modules are projective in the category of Hilbert modules similar to contractive ones. In this paper, a simple proof, based on a strengthened lifting theorem, is given. The proof also applies to an equivalent theorem of Foiaş and Williams on similarity to a contraction of a certain 2 × 2 operator matrix.

This paper presents a sensor based diagnostic system for a cylindrical plunge grinding process which ensures a reliable process state and tool wear identification. A new signal processing technique, i.e. Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) was evaluated for this purpose based on the vibration and acoustic emission signal measurements. Numerical and experimental studies have demonstrated that the process state and tool wear may be effectivel detected through a statistical analysis of the time-dependent amplitudes and instantaneous frequencies resulting from the HHT. A principal component analysis was used to diagnose different grinding process states.

The Hilbert transform and the analytic signal are widely known tools of 1D signal pro cessing. They are useful for many applications, such as AM-FM demodulation or edge detection. Developing the multidimensional generalization of this method is particularly important for the purposes of image processing. Unfortunately, it is not obvious how to generalize the transform, keeping its essential properties. In this paper I survey some ideas: basic approaches with spectral masks imitating 1D signum function, the spiral phase operator method and the method involving quaternionic Fourier transform. I present and compare how these algorithms are useful for the amplitude demodulation of typical interferometric images.

Opis:

Three phase induction motors are widely used in industrial processes and condition monitoring of these motors is especially important. Broken rotor bars, eccentricity and bearing faults are the most common types of faults of induction motors. Stator current and/or vibration signals are mostly preferred for the monitoring and detection of these faults. Fourier Transform (FT) based detection methods analyse the characteristic harmonic components of stator current and vibration signals for feature extraction. Several types of simultaneous faults of induction motors may produce characteristic harmonic components at the same frequency (with varying amplitudes). Therefore, detection of multiple faults is more difficult than detection of a single fault with FT based diagnosis methods. This paper proposes an alternative approach to detect simultaneous multiple faults including broken rotor bars, static eccentricity and outer/inner-race bearing faults by analysing stator current and vibration signals. The proposed method uses Hilbert envelope analysis with a Normalized Least Mean Square (NLSM) adaptive filter. The results are experimentally verified under 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% load conditions.

All mechanical systems behave nonlinearly to a certain extent since there are always reasons for nonlinearities, such as friction and slip effects, in the actual structures. It is important to detect and identify the nonlinearity due to friction and contact in order to investigate their effect on the global behavior of the workpiece-fixture system. That is a prerequisite for modeling the dynamic contact behavior at the interface between the workpiece and clamping elements. In this research, the workpiece-fixture system was excited with a shaker using the swept sine signal. The nonlinearities could be detected by comparing and analyzing the frequency responses of the structures in Bode plots. However, the nonlinearities behaved differently at various frequencies within the observation range. Different mechanisms such as nonlinear stiffness and damping, micro-slip friction, are responsible for that. Then the nonlinear contact behavior at the clamping positions was successfully identified by means of the Hilbert transform. In addition, the clamping force directly influenced the nonlinear stiffness of the workpiece-fixture system.

Opis:

The paper presents an algorithm for detection of a complex envelope of power grid signals. The algorithm is based on a Hilbert transform. It was prepared for an analysis of a lowfrequency disturbances, but can also be used as a compex envelope source for other applications. An implementation of the algorithm in a digital signal processor was made to proof an ability of a realtime operation. Analyses with various numerical representations and input signal quantization were done. Execution times on a DSP were measured. Tests proved that the presented algorithm is able to analyze power grid signals in a real-time with satisfying performance and uncertainty.

The present paper consists of two parts. In Section 1 we consider fractional-linear transformations (f.-l.t. for brevity) F in the space $ℒ(X_1,X_2)$ of all linear bounded operators acting from $X_1$ into $X_2$, where $X_1, X_2$ are Banach spaces. We show that in the case of Hilbert spaces $X_1, X_2$ the image F(ℬ) of any (open or closed) ball ℬ ⊂ D(F) is convex, and if ℬ is closed, then F(ℬ) is compact in the weak operator topology (w.o.t.) (Theorem 1.2). These results extend the corresponding results on compactness obtained in [3], [4] under some additional restrictions imposed on F. We also establish that the convexity of the image of f.-l.t. is a characteristic property of Hilbert spaces, that is, if for the f.-l.t. $F:K → (I+K)^{-1}$ the image $F()$ of the open unit ball of the space ℒ(X) is convex, then X is a Hilbert space (Theorem 1.3). In Section 2 we apply the compactness of F(̅) for the closed unit operator ball ̅ to the study of the behavior of solutions to evolution problems in a Hilbert space ℋ. Namely, we establish the exponential dichotomy of solutions for the so-called hyperbolic case (such that the evolution operator is invertible). This is an extension of Theorem 1.1 of [5], where the corresponding assertion was established for the particular case of a Pontryagin space ℋ.

Opis:

Tillmann [11] proved that every operator A which fulfils the canonical commutation relation A*A - AA* = Id is an orthogonal sum of canonical creation operators. We extend this result for operators which fulfil generalized commutation relation A*A - AA* = E², where EA = AE. In addition, some inequalities which are helpful in describing analytic vectors of operators A*A, where A fulfils the generalized commutation relation, are established.

Opis:

This paper presents the design of a wearable electroencephalography device and signal processing algorithm for early detection and forecasting of the epileptiform activity. The availability of the examination of functional brain activity for a prolonged period, outside of the hospital facilities, can provide new advantages in early diagnosis and intervention systems. In this study, the low-cost five-channel device is presented. The system consists of two main parts: the data acquisition and transmission units and processing algorithms. In order to create the robust epileptiform pattern recognition approach the application of statistical sampling and signal processing techniques are performed. The discrete wavelet and Hilbert-Huang transforms with principal component analysis are used in order to extract and select a low-dimension feature vector.

This paper characterizes the commutant of certain multiplication operators on Hilbert spaces of analytic functions. Let $A=M_z$ be the operator of multiplication by z on the underlying Hilbert space. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki wstępnych badań dotyczących nowatorskiej metody pozyskiwania informacji o wybranych parametrach źródeł wahań napięcia z wykorzystaniem ulepszonej empirycznej transformaty falkowej. Dla przeprowadzonych badań założono, że oddziaływanie źródeł wahań napięcia można identyfikować jako modulację amplitudową sygnału napięcia. Uwzględniając to założenie, daną wejściową dla ulepszonej empirycznej transformaty falkowej była obwiednia sygnału napięciowego, wyznaczona z zastosowaniem transformaty Hilberta. Poprawność działania metody zweryfikowano w oparciu o wykonane symulacje numeryczne dla sygnału deterministycznego z wykorzystaniem programu MATLAB.
The article presents the results of preliminary research on an innovative method of analysis of voltage fluctuation sources with the use of an enhanced empirical wavelet transform. For the tests, it was assumed that the influence of voltage fluctuation sources can be identified as the amplitude modulation of the voltage signal. Given this assumption, the input data for the enhanced empirical wavelet transform was a voltage signal envelope derived from the use of the Hilbert transform. The correctness of the method was verified on the basis of performed simulation tests for a deterministic signal using the MATLAB program.

Opis:

Krzysztof Maurin was an extremely versatile intellectual and academic teacher. He worked in mathematics (monograph “Methods of Hilbert space”), philosophy (publication “Karl Jaspers – a philosopher of truthfulness”), theology (essay “The Son of Man as the foundation of great religions”) as well as in psychology and he taught in the Faculty of Physics of the Warsaw University: I was taught by Him during a second half of His life since the beginning of the 70s. Now we are seeing and presenting his various activities in the time analysed by him in senses of quantum and cosmic physics, Heidegger's philosophy,  Schweitzer's theology and human and humanitarian psychology. Therefore we remind below his lectures on Medieval Universities, Humboldt's reform, the XIX century mathematics and indeterministic interpretation of quantum mechanics. Then, according to a chronological order, we are switching our attention to Krzysztof Maurin himself as a student of university underground courses during the time do Nazists occupation in Poland, then as a silent university employee resisting communist totalitarian ideology and after 1956, as a methodical professor of the University of Warsaw collaborating with Western Europe scientists such as Lårs Gårding, Werner Heisenberg, Rene Thom and Friedrich von Weizsacker as well as admiring especially intellectual achievements of Hermann Weyl and Martin Heidegger. To the end of biographical considerations we can observe successes and obstacles encountered by Krzysztof Maurin while He has tended to conciliate various or opposite ways of philosophical understanding or social behaving by his beloved thinkers.

An accurate numerical method is established for matrix inversion. It is shown theoretically that the scheme possesses the high order of convergence of seven. Subsequently, the method is taken into account for solving linear systems of equations. The accuracy of the contributed iterative method is clarified on solving numerical examples when the coefficient matrices are ill-conditioned. All of the computations are performed on a PC using several programs written in MATHEMATICA 7.

Opis:

Classical canonical correlation analysis seeks the associations between two data sets, i.e. it searches for linear combinations of the original variables having maximal correlation. Our task is to maximize this correlation. This problem is equivalent to solving the generalized eigenvalue problem. The maximal correlation coefficient (being a solution of this problem) is the first canonical correlation coefficient. In this paper we construct nonlinear canonical correlation analysis in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. The new kernel generalized eigenvalue problem always has the solution equal to one, and this is a typical case of over-fitting. We present methods to solve this problem and compare the results obtained by classical and kernel canonical correlation analysis.

An ideal observability subspace expression is stated for bilinear abstract system with bounded operator in Hilbert spaces. The case of finite dimentional space is also treated. Opis:

GE algebras (generalized exchange algebras), transitive GE algebras (tGE algebras, for short) and aGE algebras (that is, GE algebrasverifying the antisymmetry) are a generalization of Hilbert algebras. Here some properties and characterizations of these algebras are investigated. Connections between GE algebras and other classes of algebras of logic are studied. The implicative and positive implicative properties are discussed. It is shown that the class of positive implicative GE algebras (resp. the class of implicative aGE algebras) coincides with the class of generalized Tarski algebras (resp. the class of Tarski algebras). It is proved that for any aGE algebra the property of implicativity is equivalent to the commutative property. Moreover, several examples to illustrate the results are given. Finally, the interrelationships between some classes of implicative and positive implicative algebras are presented.

We show that the strong dual X' to an infinite-dimensional nuclear (LF)-space is homeomorphic to one of the spaces: $ℝ^ω$, $ℝ^∞$, $Q×ℝ^∞$, $ℝ^ω×ℝ^∞$, or $(ℝ^∞)^ω$, where $ℝ^∞ = lim ℝ^n$ and $Q=[-1,1]^ω$. In particular, the Schwartz space D' of distributions is homeomorphic to $(ℝ^∞)^ω$. As a by-product of the proof we deduce that each infinite-dimensional locally convex space which is a direct limit of metrizable compacta is homeomorphic either to $ℝ^∞$ or to $Q×ℝ^∞$. In particular, the strong dual to any metrizable infinite-dimensional Montel space is homeomorphic either to $ℝ^∞$ or to $Q×ℝ^∞$.

Opis:

Among all the techniques combining multi-carrier modulation and spread spectrum, the multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) system is by far the most widely studied. In this paper, we present the performance of the MC-CDMA system associated with key single-user detection techniques. We are interested in problems related to identification and equalization of mobile radio channels, using the kernel method in Hilbert space with a reproducing kernel, and a linear adaptive algorithm, for MC-CDMA systems. In this context, we tested the efficiency of these algorithms, considering practical frequency selective fading channels, called broadband radio access network (BRAN), standardized for MC-CDMA systems. As far as the equalization problem encountered after channel identification is concerned, we use the orthogonality restoration combination (ORC) and the minimum mean square error (MMSE) equalizer techniques to correct the distortion of the channel. Simulation results demonstrate that the kernel algorithm is efficient for practical channel.

In this paper, we present a result on relaxability of partially observed control problems for infinite dimensional stochastic systems in a Hilbert space. This is motivated by the fact that measure valued controls, also known as relaxed controls, are difficult to construct practically and so one must inquire if it is possible to approximate the solutions corresponding to measure valued controls by those corresponding to ordinary controls. Our main result is the relaxation theorem which states that the set of solutions corresponding to ordinary controls is weakly dense in the set of solutions corresponding to relaxed controls. This is presented in Theorem 5.3 after giving some existence results on optimal controls for the infinite dimensional Zakai equation used for its proof.

The issue of using the physical method in economics is no longer an innovative idea. However, nowadays the methods of mathematical quantum mechanics are also applied to economic sciences. This is the natural result of the fact that as applicable in quantum mechanics, mathematical spaces and tools turn out to be useful in other fields of science. Then it is possible to assume that the problem of the choice of the space is a universal question that is associated not only with mathematics and physics but also with economics or social sciences. In this paper the author considers various formulations of Hilbert space in relation to finite-dimensional quantum mechanics which constitutes a fundament to also apply my outcomes in economics. On the basis of mathematical considerations the author puts forward the hypothesis that the complex Hilbert space is characterized with numerous advantages in relation to its real and quaternionic alternatives.

Opis:

A new approach for frequency analysis of recorded signals and readout the frequency of harmonics is presented in the paper. The main purpose has been achieved by the cross$correlation function and Hilbert transform. Using the method presented in the paper, there is another possibility to observe and finally to identify single harmonic apart from commonly used Fourier transform. Identification of the harmonic is based on the effect of a straight line of the envelope of the cross$correlation function when reference and signal harmon$ ic have the same frequency. This particular case is the basis for pointing the value of the frequency of harmonic component detected.

In this paper we formulate an immunization problem, which is rarely stated. Instead of reconstructing an existing bond portfolio B with the aim of securing a desired amount of, say L dollars, q years from now, against uncertain future interest rates shifts (under various, sometimes strong assumptions), we identify the shifts of the current term structure of interest rates against which portfolio B is already preimmunized. We state this problem in two different mathematical settings, and solve it with the help of Proposition 2 from Barber (1999), or, equivalently, Theorem 1 from Rzadkowski and Zaremba (2000). In the first part of this paper shifts are supposed to be polynomials of degree less than a certain number n, while in the second part, where we employ a Hilbert space approach, the shifts are allowed to be continuous functions.

In this paper we consider the question of optimal control for a class of stochastic evolution equations on infinite dimensional Hilbert spaces with controls appearing in both the drift and the diffusion operators. We consider relaxed controls (measure valued random processes) and briefly present some results on the question of existence of mild solutions including their regularity followed by a result on existence of partially observed optimal relaxed controls. Then we develop the necessary conditions of optimality for partially observed relaxed controls. This is the main topic of this paper. Further we present an algorithm for computation of optimal policies followed by a brief discussion on regular versus relaxed controls. The paper is concluded by an example of a non-convex problem which is readily solvable by our approach.

Opis:

The paper presents theoretical basis for identification of nonlinear systems using the method based on Hilbert transform. Discussed method was verified by analyzing the synthesized signals of known parameters. Developed and verified mathematical tools were used for analysis of dynamic responses of the real object: a laboratory (physical) model of the transmission tower. For the considered laboratory model it was possible to simulate damages of individual truss elements and observe changes in system dynamic characteristics. Results of the carried out research proved that the first natural frequency and damping factor change in the observable extent as a result of damage presence.
W pracy przedstawione zostały teoretyczne podstawy identyfikacji układów nieliniowych z wykorzystaniem transformaty Hilberta. Omówioną metodę zweryfikowano przeprowadzając analizę syntezowanych sygnałów o znanych parametrach. Opracowany aparat matematyczny zastosowano do analizy odpowiedzi dynamicznych obiektu rzeczywistego: modelu laboratoryjnego (fizycznego) przemysłowej konstrukcji wsporczej znajdującej się w ciągłej eksploatacji. Rozpatrywany model laboratoryjny umożliwił symulowanie uszkodzeń poszczególnych elementów kratownicy i badanie ich wpływu na zmianę parametrów dynamicznych. W pracy wykazano, że w wyniku uszkodzenia układu wartości pierwszych częstotliwość drgań własnych oraz tłumienia zmieniają się w stopniu obserwowalnym.

W referacie przedstawiono wyniki badań nad konstrukcją detektora wykrywającego moment pęknięcia tafli szklanej drogą analizy sygnału dźwięku. W pierwszym podejściu zastosowano meto-dę JTFA (ang. Joint Time-Frequency Fourier Analysis) do analizy procesu dezintegracji szkła. Opracowano uproszczony model pęknięcia szkła i pierwsze algorytmy diagnostyczne. W kolejnym kroku opracowano metodę diagnostyczną wykorzystującą transformację Hilberta do wydobywania elementów sygnałów przenoszących informację o zjawisku pękania szkła. Prace te zakończyły się opracowaniem metody diagnostycznej opartej na systemie eksperckim, możliwej do implementacji w mikrokontrolerach średniej klasy.
The paper presents research results on design of detector for detection of glass pane brake, based on analysis of acoustic signal. Joint Time-Frequency Analysis (JTFA) has been applied in first attempt to analyze glass decomposition process. Simplified glass break model and first diagnostic algorithms has been evaluated. Further research led to development of diagnostic method applying Hilbert transformation to extract signal components characterizing glass break phenomena. The research has been finalized with evaluation of diagnostic method based on expert system, possible to be implemented in mid-class microcontroller.

This work presents the analysis of vibration signals by an approach consists of several mathematical tools more elaborate such as the Hilbert transform, kurtogram, which allows the detection of vibration defects in a simple and accurate way. The determination of the defective organs at an optimal time is a very important operation in the industrial maintenance, which keeps the equipment in a good condition and ensures the assiduity of work. To see the effectiveness of fault detection by the proposed approach by analyzing the real vibration signals of a bearing type 6025-SKF available on the Case Western Reserve University platform.

In this paper, we consider the question of controllability of a class of linear and semilinear evolution equations on Hilbert space with measures as controls. We present necessary and sufficient conditions for weak and exact (strong) controllability of a linear system. Using this result we prove that exact controllability of the linear system implies exact controllability of a perturbed semilinear system. Controllability problem for the semilinear system is formulated as a fixed point problem on the space of vector measures and is concluded controllability from the existence of a fixed point. Our results cover impulsive controls as well as regular controls.

Opis:

Hardware realizations of an algorithm of discrete Hilbert transform (DHT) are made mainly with using the FFT because of its higher resolution [1] [4] in comparison to the direct DHT based on unwindowed impulse response (IR). On the other hand, as it is shown previously in [5] [6] the appropriate use of weight windows for IR provides a higher resolution of the direct DHT in comparison to the DHT method with FFT using. In this work a parallel algorithm and appropriate filter structure for the direct windowed DHT which are faster than the algorithms and structures based on the FFT are presented. The work of the algorithm and filter is illustrated by examples of phase transitions capturing of noisy signals.
Sprzętowe realizacje algorytmu dyskretnego przekształcenia Hilberta (DHT) w przewadze wykonywane są przy użyciu DHT opartego na FFT, ze względu na jego wyższą rozdzielczość w porównaniu z bezpośrednim DHT z nieokienkowaną charakterystyką impulsową. Z drugiej strony, jak pokazano prędzej w [5] [6], odpowiednie użycie okien wagowych dla charakterystyki impulsowej pozwala otrzymać wyższą rozdzielczość bezpośredniego DHT w porównaniu z metodą DHT opartą na FFT. W tej pracy zostały zaprezentowane algorytm równoległy oraz odpowiednia struktura filtru dla bezpośredniego okienkowanego DHT, które są szybsze w porównaniu z algorytmami i strukturami opartymi na FFT. Działanie zaprezentowanych algorytmu i filtru zostało zademonstrowane na przykładach przechwytywania zmian fazy sygnałów zaszumionych.

The present paper is concerned with the problem of scattering of the P-wave by two co- -planer finite rigid strips placed symmetrically in an infinitely long orthotropic strip. Using the Hilbert transform technique, the mixed boundary value problem has been reduced to the solution of dual integral equations which has finally been reduced to the solution of a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Solving this integral equation numerically, stress intensity factors have been calculated at the inner and outer edges of the rigid strips, and the vertical displacement outside the strips has been calculated and plotted graphically to show the effect of material orthotropy.

Global-in-time existence of solutions for equations of viscous compressible barotropic fluid in a bounded domain Ω ⊂ $ℝ^3$ with the boundary slip condition is proved. The solution is close to an equilibrium solution. The proof is based on the energy method. Moreover, in the $L_2$-approach the result is sharp (the regularity of the solution cannot be decreased) because the velocity belongs to $H^{2+α,1+α/2}(Ω × ℝ_+)$ and the density belongs to $H^{1+α,1/2+α/2}(Ω× ℝ_+)$, α ∈ (1/2,1).

We prove two sampling theorems for infinite (countable discrete) weighted graphs G; one example being "large grids of resistors" i.e., networks and systems of resistors. We show that there is natural ambient continuum X containing G, and there are Hilbert spaces of functions on X that allow interpolation by sampling values of the functions restricted only on the vertices in G. We sample functions on X from their discrete values picked in the vertex-subset G. We prove two theorems that allow for such realistic ambient spaces X for a fixed graph G, and for interpolation kernels in function Hilbert spaces on X, sampling only from points in the subset of vertices in G. A continuum is often not apparent at the outset from the given graph G. We will solve this problem with the use of ideas from stochastic integration.

We present a new criterion for the existence of Hilbert-symbol equivalence of two number fields. In principle, we show that the system of local conditions for this equivalence may be expressed in terms of Clifford invariants in place of Hilbert-symbols, shifting the focus from Brauer groups to Brauer-Wall groups.

Opis:

Recent studies have utilizes color, texture, and composition information of images to achieve affective image classification. However, the features related to spatial-frequency domain that were proven to be useful for traditional pattern recognition have not been tested in this field yet. Furthermore, the experiments conducted by previous studies are not internationally-comparable due to the experimental paradigm adopted. In addition, contributed by recent advances in methodology, that are, Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) (i.e. Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) and Hilbert Transform (HT)), the resolution of frequency analysis has been improved. Hence, the goal of this research is to achieve the affective image-classification task by adopting a standard experimental paradigm introduces by psychologists in order to produce international-comparable and reproducible results; and also to explore the affective hidden patterns of images in the spatial-frequency domain. To accomplish these goals, multiple human-subject experiments were conducted in laboratory. Extended Classifier Systems (XCSs) was used for model building because the XCS has been applied to a wide range of classification tasks and proved to be competitive in pattern recognition. To exploit the information in the spatial-frequency domain, the traditional EMD has been extended to a two-dimensional version. To summarize, the model built by using the XCS achieves Area Under Curve (AUC) = 0.91 and accuracy rate over 86%. The result of the XCS was compared with other traditional machine-learning algorithms (e.g., Radial-Basis Function Network (RBF Network)) that are normally used for classification tasks. Contributed by proper selection of features for model building, user-independent findings were obtained. For example, it is found that the horizontal visual stimulations contribute more to the emotion elicitation than the vertical visual stimulation. The effect of hue, saturation, and brightness; is also presented.

In this paper we consider controlled McKean-Vlasov stochastic evolution equations on Hilbert spaces. We prove existence and uniqueness of solutions and regularity properties thereof. We use relaxed controls, adapted to a current of sub-sigma algebras generated by observable processes, and taking values from a Polish space. We introduce an appropriate topology based on weak star convergence. We prove continuous dependence of solutions on controls with respect to appropriate topologies. Theses results are then used to prove existence of optimal controls for Bolza problems. Then we develop the necessary conditions of optimality based on semi-martingale representation theory on Hilbert spaces. Next we show that the adjoint processes arising from the necessary conditions optimality can be constructed from the solution of certain BSDE.

Opis:

Small vibrations of a nonhomogeneous string of length one with left end fixed and right one moving with damping are described by the one-dimensional wave equation [formula] where ρ is the density of the string and h is a complex parameter. This equation can be rewritten in an operator form as an abstract Cauchy problem for the closed, densely defined operator B acting on a certain energy space H. It is proven that the operator B generates the exponentially stable C0-semigroup of contractions in the space H under assumptions that Re h > 0 and the density function is of bounded variation satisfying 0 < m ≤ ρ(x) for a.e. x ∈ [0; 1].

We establish an inversion formula for the M. M. Djrbashian & A. H. Karapetyan integral transform (cf. [6]) on the Siegel domain $Ω_n = {ζ ∈ ℂ^n : ϱ (ζ) >0} $, $ϱ(ζ) = Im(ζ_1) - |ζ'|^2$. We build a family of Kähler metrics of constant holomorphic curvature whose potentials are the $ϱ^α$-Bergman kernels, α > -1, (in the sense of Z. Pasternak-Winiarski [20] of $Ω_n$. We build an anti-holomorphic embedding of $Ω_n$ in the complex projective Hilbert space $ℂℙ(H^2_α(Ω_n))$ and study (in connection with work by A. Odzijewicz [18] the corresponding transition probability amplitudes. The Genchev transform (cf. [9]) is shown to be well defined on $L^2(Ω, ϱ^α)$, for any strip Ω ⊂ ℂ, and applied in a problem of approximation by holomorphic functions. Building on work by T. Mazur (cf. [15]) we prove the existence of a complete orthonormal system in $H^2_α(Ω_n)$ consisting of eigenfunctions of a certain explicitly defined operator $V_a$, $a ∈ B_n$.

The article is a proposition of a new approach to building a neural model based on the system of Day-Ahead Market operating at TGE S.A. The reason for the proposed method is an attempt to find a better model for the DAM system. The proposed methodology is based on using mathematical models used in quantum computing. All calculations performed on learning the Artificial Neuron Network are based on operations described in Hilbert space. The main idea of calculations is to replace the data from the decimal system into the quantum state in Hilbert space and perform learning operations for a neural model of the DAM system in a special manner which relay on the teaching model for each position of the quantum register for all data. The obtained results were compared to the “classical” neural model with the use of a comparative model.

Using functions from electrical networks (graphs with resistors assigned to edges), we prove existence (with explicit formulas) of a canonical Parseval frame in the energy Hilbert space [formula] of a prescribed infinite (or finite) network. Outside degenerate cases, our Parseval frame is not an orthonormal basis. We apply our frame to prove a number of explicit results: With our Parseval frame and related closable operators in [formula] we characterize the Priedrichs extension of the [formula]-graph Laplacian. We consider infinite connected network-graphs G = (V, E), V for vertices, and E for edges. To every conductance function c on the edges E of G, there is an associated pair [formula] where [formula] in an energy Hilbert space, and Δ (=Δc) is the c-graph Laplacian; both depending on the choice of conductance function c. When a conductance function is given, there is a current-induced orientation on the set of edges and an associated natural Parseval frame in [formula] consisting of dipoles. Now Δ is a well-defined semibounded Hermitian operator in both of the Hilbert [formula] and [formula]. It is known to automatically be essentially selfadjoint as an [formula]-operator, but generally not as an [formula] operator. Hence as an [formula] operator it has a Friedrichs extension. In this paper we offer two results for the Priedrichs extension: a characterization and a factorization. The latter is via [formula].

Opis:

Motivated by applications, we consider new operator-theoretic approaches to conditional mean embedding (CME). Our present results combine a spectral analysis-based optimization scheme with the use of kernels, stochastic processes, and constructive learning algorithms. For initially given non-linear data, we consider optimization-based feature selections. This entails the use of convex sets of kernels in a construction of optimal feature selection via regression algorithms from learning models. Thus, with initial inputs of training data (for a suitable learning algorithm), each choice of a kernel K in turn yields a variety of Hilbert spaces and realizations of features. A novel aspect of our work is the inclusion of a secondary optimization process over a specified convex set of positive definite kernels, resulting in the determination of “optimal” feature representations.

The paper presents the overview of the theory of 2-D complex and quaternion analytic signals with the 1st-quadrant spectrum support. Both signals are expressed as complex/hypercomplex sums of partial and total 2-D Hilbert transforms. Moreover, starting with the definition of 2-D complex and quaternion Fourier transforms, the 2-D Hilbert transforms are derived in the form of sums of parts of different parity with respect to signal-domain variables. Some new relations for Hilbert quaternion spectra have been derived. The paper is illustrated with the example of the 2-D separable Cauchy signal.

The equation which describes the small vibrations of a nonhomogeneous damped string can be rewritten as an abstract Cauchy problem for the densely defined closed operator iA. We prove that the set of root vectors of the operator A forms a basis of subspaces in a certain Hilbert space H. Furthermore, we give the rate of convergence for the decomposition with respect to this basis. In the second main result we show that with additional assumptions the set of root vectors of the operator A is a Riesz basis for H.

In this paper, we consider a class of semilinear stochastic evolution equations on Hilbert space driven by a stochastic vector measure. The nonlinear terms are assumed to be merely continuous and bounded on bounded sets. We prove the existence of measure valued solutions generalizing some earlier results of the author. As a corollary, an existence result of a measure solution for a forward Kolmogorov equation with unbounded operator valued coefficients is obtained. The main result is further extended to cover Borel measurable drift and diffusion which are assumed to be bounded on bounded sets. Also we consider control problems for these systems and present several results on the existence of optimal feedback controls.

We use Green's function of a suitable boundary value problem to convert the variational problem with quadratic functional and linear constraints to the equivalent unconstrained extremal problem in some subspace of the space L2 of quadratically summable functions. We get the neccessary and sufficient criterion for unique solvability of the variational problem in terms of the spectrum of some integral Hilbert-Schmidt operator in L2 with symmetric kernel. The numerical technique is proposed to estimate this criterion. The results are demonstrated on examples: 1) a variational problem with deviating argument, and 2) the problem of the critical force for the vertical pillar with additional support point (the qualities of the pillar may vary discontinuously along the pillar's axis).

The main aim of this article is to review the existing state of art concerning the complete controllability of semilinear dynamical systems. The study focus on obtaining the sufficient conditions for the complete controllability for various systems using the Banach fixedpoint theorem. We describe the results for stochastic semilinear functional integro-differential system, stochastic partial differential equations with finite delays, semilinear functional equations, a stochastic semilinear system, a impulsive stochastic integro-differential system, semilinear stochastic impulsive systems, an impulsive neutral functional evolution integro-differential system and a nonlinear stochastic neutral impulsive system. Finally, two examples are presented.

Opis:

Electroencephalogram (EEG) is one of biomedical signals measured during all-night polysomnography to diagnose sleep disorders, including sleep apnoea. Usually two central EEG channels (C3-A2 and C4-A1) are recorded, but typically only one of them are used. The purpose of this work was to compare discriminative features characterizing normal breathing, as well as obstructive and central sleep apneas derived from these central EEG channels. The same methodology of feature extraction and selection was applied separately for the both synchronous signals. The features were extracted by combined discrete wavelet and Hilbert transforms. Afterwards, the statistical indexes were calculated and the features were selected using the analysis of variance and multivariate regression. According to the obtained results, there is a partial difference in information contained in the EEG signals carried by C3-A2 and C4-A1 EEG channels, so data from the both channels should be preferably used together for automatic sleep apnoea detection and differentiation.

Opis:

Analysis of power consumption presents a very important issue for power distribution system operators. Some power system processes such as planning, demand forecasting, development, etc.., require a complete understanding of behaviour of power consumption for observed area, which requires appropriate techniques for analysis of available data. In this paper, two different time-frequency techniques are applied for analysis of hourly values of active and reactive power consumption from one real power distribution transformer substation in urban part of Sarajevo city. Using the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) with wavelet power spectrum and global wavelet spectrum some properties of analysed time series are determined. Then, empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) are applied for the analyses of the same time series and the results showed that both applied approaches can provide very useful information about the behaviour of power consumption for observed time interval and different period (frequency) bands. Also it can be noticed that the results obtained by global wavelet spectrum and marginal Hilbert spectrum are very similar, thus confirming that both approaches could be used for identification of main properties of active and reactive power consumption time series.

We derive lower two-weight estimates for the essential norm (measure of noncompactness) for multilinear Hilbert and Riesz transforms, and Riesz potential operators in Banach function lattices. As a corollary we have appropriate results in weighted Lebesgue spaces. From these statements we conclude that there is no \((m+1)\)-tuple of weights \((v,w_1, \dots, w_m)\) for which these operators are compact from \(L^{p_1}_{w_1} \times \dots \times L^{p_m}_{w_m}\) to \(L^q_v\).

Opis:

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of friction forces on strains of a gas pipeline pipe in conditions of static and dynamic load. The experiments were conducted on a 28-metre section of pipe laid in quartz sand haunching. The source of dynamic loads was artificially generated soil vibration of a pulse character, which can be interpreted as seismic-like waves of mining origin. The static loads were applied by means of an actuator, which allowed the setting of different values of tension force acting along the pipe axis. The dynamic strain and vibration acceleration of the pipeline were measured during the experiments at different values of tension forces. The recorded signals were subjected to the time-domain decomposition by using the Hilbert-Huang transform. The method allows for the correct decomposition of the primary signal that describes the non-stationary and nonlinear phenomena as a sum of quasi-harmonic components whose amplitudes and frequencies are the parametric functions of time. The analysis included the determination of the influence of friction force in contact between the pipe and the sand haunching on the parameters of dynamic strain signals.
Celem badań było określenie wpływu sił tarcia na stan odkształceń rury przesyłowej gazociągu w warunkach obciążenia statycznego oraz dynamicznego. Eksperymenty przeprowadzono na 28-metrowym odcinku rury ułożonej standardowo w gruncie w obsypce z piasku kwarcowego. Źródłem obciążeń dynamicznych rury przesyłowej w trakcie eksperymentów były wywoływane sztucznie drgania gruntu o charakterze impulsowym, które można interpretować jako fale parasejsmiczne pochodzenia górniczego. Obciążenia statyczne rury wywoływane były za pomocą siłownika, umożliwiającego zadawanie różnych wartości siły naciągu działającej wzdłuż jej osi. Podczas eksperymentów dla różnych wartości sił naciągu rury zmierzono sygnały dynamiczne jej odkształceń oraz przyspieszeń drgań. Zarejestrowane sygnały poddano dekompozycji w dziedzinie czasu z zastosowaniem transformacji Hilberta-Huanga. Metoda umożliwia poprawną dekompozycję sygnału pierwotnego na sumę quasi-harmonicznych składowych, których amplitudy oraz częstotliwości są parametrycznymi funkcjami czasu. W ramach analizy określono wpływ wartości siły tarcia w kontakcie rury z obsypką piaskową na wartości parametrów dynamicznych sygnałów odkształceń.

Opis:

The paper presents comparison of results of impulse response spectral analysis that has been obtained using a method based on cross-correlation with results obtained using classical FFT. The presented non-Fourier method is achieved by correlating the analyzed signal and reference single-harmonic signals and using Hilbert transform to obtain an envelope of cross-correlation. The envelope of cross correlation makes it possible to calculate appropriate indicator and make its plot in frequency domain as a spectrum. The spectrum obtained this way has its advantage over the FFT that the spectral resolution does not depend on duration of signal. At the same time, the spectral resolution can be much greater than spectral resolution resultant from FFT. Obtained results show that presented non-Fourier method gives frequency readout more accurate in comparison to FFT when the impulse response is a short-time signal e.g. few dozen of miliseconds lasting.

Heart rate is constantly changing under the influence of many control signals, as manifested by heart rate variability (HRV). HRV is a nonstationary, irregularly sampled signal, the spectrum of which reveals distinct bands of high, low, very low and ultra-low frequencies (HF, LF, VLF, ULF). VLF and ULF components are the least understood, and their analysis requires HRV records lasting many hours. Moreover, there are still no well-established methods for the reliable extraction of these components. The aim of this work was to select, implement and compare methods which can solve this problem. The performance of multiband filtering (MBF), empirical mode decomposition and the short-time Fourier transform was tested, using synthetic HRV as the ground truth for methods evaluation as well as real data of three patients selected from 25 polysomnographic records with a clear HF component in their spectrograms. The study provided new insights into the components of long-term HRV, including the character of its amplitude and frequency modulation obtained with the Hilbert transform. In addition, the reliability of the extracted HF, LF, VLF and ULF waveforms was demonstrated, and MBF turned out to be the most accurate method, though the signal is strongly nonstationary. The possibility of isolating such waveforms is of great importance both in physiology and pathophysiology, as well as in the automation of medical diagnostics based on HRV.

Electroencephalograph (EEG) data provide insight into the interconnections and relationships between various cognitive states and their corresponding brain dynamics, by demonstrating dynamic connections between brain regions at different frequency bands. While sensory input tends to stimulate neural activity in different frequency bands, peaceful states of being and self-induced meditation tend to produce activity in the mid-range (Alpha). These studies were conducted with the aim of: (a) testing different equipment in order to assess two (2) different EEG technologies together with their benefits and limitations and (b) having an initial impression of different brain states associated with different experimental modalities and tasks, by analyzing the spatial and temporal power spectrum and applying our movie making methodology to engage in qualitative exploration via the art of encephalography. This study complements our previous study of measuring multichannel EEG brain dynamics using MINDO48 equipment associated with three experimental modalities measured both in the laboratory and the natural environment. Together with Hilbert analysis, we conjecture, the results will provide us with the tools to engage in more complex brain dynamics and mental states, such as Meditation, Mathematical Audio Lectures, Music Induced Meditation, and Mental Arithmetic Exercises. This paper focuses on open eye and closed eye conditions, as well as meditation states in laboratory conditions. We assess similarities and differences between experimental modalities and their associated brain states as well as differences between the different tools for analysis and equipment.

In this paper the definition of Hilbert transform and analytical representation of the signal are presented. The method of determining the envelope of amplitude modulated signals using Hilbert transform is defined. The article discusses the benefits of this method with the use of radio transmission, which are affected by the interference from low frequency signals the source of which may be a network of electricity. This subject is supported by specific examples.
W pracy przedstawiono definicję przekształcenia Hilberta oraz związane z nim zagadnienia analitycznej reprezentacji sygnału oraz splotu sygnałów. Określono metodę wyznaczania obwiedni sygnałów zmodulowanych amplitudowo z wykorzystaniem przekształcenia Hilberta. Omówiono korzyści wynikające ze stosowania niniejszej metody przy stosowaniu transmisji radiowej, na którą wpływ mają zakłócenia spowodowane sygnałami niskoczęstotliwościowymi, których źródłem może być sieć elektroenergetyczna. Opis:

In this paper, an asynchronous demodulation method for a four-single sideband (SSB) signal arranged on the frequency axis is developed to support burst mode transmission in a mobile radio path and to achieve greater data throughputs. When a reduced pilot carrier is placed at the center of the 4-SSB signal, it is guarded by lower and upper sidebands, that is, this scheme is classified into a tone-in-band (TIB) system. Digital signal processing (DSP) processors are useful for implementing a Hilbert transform. However, we have for a long time neglected introducing it into the demodulation process of SSB signals.

Opis:

We show that a class of countable weighted graphs arising in the study of electric resistance networks (ERNs) are naturally associated with groupoids. Starting with a fixed ERN, it is known that there is a canonical energy form and a derived energy Hilbert space Hε. From Hε, one then studies resistance metrics and boundaries of the ERNs. But in earlier research, there does not appear to be a natural algebra of bounded operators acting on Hε. With the use of our ERN-groupoid, we show that Hε may be derived as a representation Hilbert space of a universal representation of a groupoid algebra [formula], and we display other representations. Among our applications, we identify a free structure of [formula] in terms of the energy form.

In this paper, we study semicircular-like elements, and semicircular elements induced by p-adic analysis, for each prime p. Starting from a p-adic number field Qp, we construct a Banach *-algebra [formula], for a fixed prime p, and show the generating elements Qpj of [formula] form weighted-semicircular elements, and the corresponding scalar-multiples Θpj of Qpj become semicircular elements, for all j ∈ Z. The main result of this paper is the very construction of suitable linear functionals [formula] on [formula], making Qpj be weighted-semicircular, for all j ∈ Z.

A linear quadratic optimal control problem for a class of discrete distributed systems is analyzed. To solve this problem, we introduce an adequate topology and establish that optimal control can be determined though an inversion of the appropriate isomorphism. An example and a numerical approach are given.

In this paper, we prove that the topological dual of the Banach space of bounded measurable functions with values in the space of nuclear operators, furnished with the natural topology, is isometrically isomorphic to the space of finitely additive linear operator-valued measures having bounded variation in a Banach space containing the space of bounded linear operators. This is then applied to a stochastic structural control problem. An optimal operator-valued measure, considered as the structural control, is to be chosen so as to minimize fluctuation (volatility). Both existence of optimal policy and necessary conditions of optimality are presented including a conceptual algorithm.

In the general geometric asset price model, the asset price P(t) at time t satisfies the relation
$P(t) = P₀ · e^{α·f(t) + σ·F(t)}$, t ∈ [0,T],
where f is a deterministic trend function, the stochastic process F describes the random fluctuations of the market, α is the trend coefficient, and σ denotes the volatility.
The paper examines the problem of optimal trend estimation by utilizing the concept of kernel reproducing Hilbert spaces. It characterizes the class of trend functions with the property that the trend coefficient can be estimated consistently. Furthermore, explicit formulae for the best linear unbiased estimator α̂ of α and representations for the variance of α̂ are derived.
The results do not require assumptions on finite-dimensional distributions and allow of jump processes as well as exogeneous shocks. .

Opis:

W artykule zaprezentowano wirtualny stetoskop, który został opracowany w środowisku LabVIEW do cyfrowej rejestracji i analizy (w post procesie) tonów oraz szmerów serca. Sygnały akustyczne serca są rejestrowane za pomocą stetoskopu z mikrofonem. W pracy szczegółowo omówiono metodę detekcji tonów podstawowych serca na podstawie analizy falkowej sygnału fonokardiograficznego (tj. sygnału FKG obejmującego tony i szmery serca).
This paper describes a virtual stethoscope designed in LabVIEW environment for use in heart sounds recording and off-line analysis. Heart sounds and murmurs are recorded by a microphone built into the stethoscope. A method for detection of the first and second heart sounds is presented in details. This method is based on wavelet analysis of PCG signal (i.e. heart sounds and murmurs).
