Opis:
This paper presents a new digital modulation recognition algorithm for classifying baseband signals in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise. Elaborated classification technique uses various statistical moments of the signal amplitude, phase and frequency applied to the fuzzy classifier. Classification results are given and it is found that the technique performs well at low SNR. The benefits of this technique are that it is simple to implement, has generalization property and requires no apriori knowledge of the SNR, carrier phase or baud rate of the signal for classification.

In the paper, using some MATLAB fuzzy logic toolbox Demos, in which the fuzzy controllers are compared with the classical PID ones, it is shown that the well tuned classical PID controllers are significantly better than those fuzzy presented in the Demos. It is shown, that using fuzzy approach, it is very difficult to shape the input-output nonlinearity, describing the so called fuzzy block of the fuzzy controller. It is also shown, that the linear fuzzy block (created to obtain comparable results with the classical PID controllers) is not justified at all, because it may be replaced by the usual summing junction, which is significantly simpler. The considerations of the paper do not support the idea of fuzzy controllers.

This paper presents certain important aspect soft he fuzzy logic extension, one of whichis OFN. It includes basic definition soft hat discipline. It also compares fuzzy logic arithmetic with the arithmetic of ordered fuzzy numbers in L-R notation. Computational experiments were based on fuzzy observation of the impounding basin. The results of the study show that there is a connection between the order of OFN number and trend of changes in the environment. The experiment was carried out using computer soft ware developed specially for that purpose.When comparing the arithmetic of fuzzy numbers in L-R notation with the arithmetic of ordered fuzzy number son the ground soft he experiment, it has been concluded that with fuzzy numbers it ispossible to expand the scope of solutions in comparison to fuzzy numbers inclassic form. The symbol of OFN flexibility is the possibility to determine the number that always satisfies the equation A+X=C, regardles soft hevalue of arguments. Operations performed on OFN are less complicated, as the yare performed in the same way regard less the sign of the input data and the irresults are more accuratein the majority of cases.The promising feature of ordered fuzzy numbers is their lack of rapidly growing fuzziness. Authors expect to see implication of that fact in practice in the near future.

The article introduces a new proposal of a def uzzification method, which can be implemented in fuzzy controllers. The first chapter refers to the origin of fuzzy sets. Next, a modern development based on this theory is presented in the form of ordered fuzzy numbers (OFN). The most important characteristics of ordered fuzzy numbers are also presented. In the following chapter, details about the defuzzification process are given as part of the fuzzy controller model. Then a new method of defuzzification is presented. The method is named center of circles intersection (CCI). The authors compare this method with a similar geometric solution: triangular expanding (TE) and geometric mean (GM). Also, the results are compared with other methods such as center of gravity (COG), first of maxima (FOM) and last of maxima (LOM). The analysis shows that the proposed solution works correctly and provides results for traditional fuzzy numbers as well as directed fuzzy numbers. The last chapter contains a summary, in which more detailed conclusions are provided and further directions of research are indicated.

In the paper presented is a method of designing a fuzzy-logic-based autopilot for control of horizontal motion of an unmanned underwater vehicle. The control system’s synthesis was performed under the assumption that the vehicle can move with variable linear and angular velocities and the quantities possible to be measured are: position and orientaŹtion of the vehicle in the inertial reference system. The task of the autopilot was to minimiŹze the mean squares of deviations from the motion trajectory given in the form of a broken line defined by the coordinates of successive turning points. To generate control signals three independent fuzzy PD controllers using the control principles based on the Mac Vicar-Whelan’s standard base, were applied. For the linguistic variables of each controller appropriate fuzzy sets were selected and linear membership functions of trapezoidal and triangular form were defined. The presented results of the simulation tests performed for the remotely operated underwater vehicle "Ukwiał", with and without influence of disturbances resulting from sea current, confirm the proposed approach to be correct and effective.

This paper presents a fuzzy logic-based, service differentiated, QoS aware routing protocol (FMSR) offering multipath routing for WSNs, with the purpose of providing a service differentiated path meant for communication between nodes, based on actual requirements. The proposed protocol initially forms a cluster by fuzzy c-means. Next, the building of a routing follows, so as to establish multiple paths between nodes through the modified QoS k-nearest neighborhood, based on different QoS constraints and on optimum shortest paths. If one node in the path fails due to lack of residual energy, bandwidth, packet loss, delay, an alternate path leading through another neighborhood node is selected for communication. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol performs better in terms of packet delivery ratio, delay, packet drop ratio and throughput compared to other existing routing protocols.

In complex socio-technical systems there is an influence of safe unwanted events on the occurrence of accidents. It is like domino bricks. Therefore, it is not only the recovery from major events that is important, but also the recovery from disruptions in operation. As the literature review shows, the recovery of operation processes is analysed by single criterions for small disruptions. On the other hand, resilience research is focused on the network and major events, but not on frequent small-consequence events that affect operational processes. The performance of a system is a key parameter when evaluating resilience. As a result of the performed literature survey, the aim of the paper was to propose a new method for evaluating performance in terms of operational processes and resilience analysis. Moreover, it is also important to order the most important terms related to this issue, as well as to introduce new types of qualities, which are not only focused on the system, but also on the implemented operational processes. The paper consists of eight sections. The introduction section describes generally the problem, that leads to formulation of the aim of the paper and description of its structure. It is followed by the second section consisting of a complex literature survey. Section three orders the reliability, robustness and resilience definitions. Section four analyses the performance influencing factors using Fault and Event Tree Analysis, while section five defines the operational layer of the system and shows a formal description of operation processes. Section six presents the operation process evaluation model. It was elaborated using the Fuzzy Logic approach, that allows combining of incoherent system and process qualities: punctuality, probability no further delays, quantitative implementation of scheduled processes, reconfiguration level. Afterwards a case study is shown to present the method application. The performed case study shows the advantages of the proposed approach, which is related to the most common methods. The paper ends with conclusions and further research perspectives.

Zastosowanie regulatora rozmytego (FLC) poprawiło dymanikę i dokładność pozycjonowania serwonapędu pneumatycznego oraz wyeliminowało zakłócenia w jego układzie regulacji. W procesie przetwarzania rozmytego zastosowano wyznaczanie poziomu zapłonu typu min, implikacji typu min oraz agregacji poszczególnych wyjść reguły typu max. W celu uzyskania ostrej wartości wyjścia zastosowano metodę środka obszaru COA. Analizowano przebiegi procesu regulacji rozmytej serwonapędu pneumatycznego z regulacją przestawną, regulacją nadążną oraz regulacją kontroli trajektorii ruchu. Badania wykazały, że logika rozmyta może być stosowana w regulacji serwopneumatycznych manipulatorów o różnej strukturze kinematycznej. Przedstawione badania sa podstawą do zastosowania logiki rozmytej w regulacji pneumatycznego manipulatora równoległego typu tripod.
Application of fuzzy logic controller (FLC) improved dynamics and positioning accuracy of pneumatic servo-drive and eliminated disturbances in its control system. In fuzzyfication process conditionally firing rules of type min, implication operator of type min and aggregation of output rules of type max were employed. To obtain fuzzy output value the center of area function (COA) was used. Transpose control, follow-up control and trajectory motion control of pneumatic servo-drive with different input signals were carried out. The research proves applicability of fuzzy logic in control of servo-pneumatic manipulators with different kinematic chain structure. On the basis of the research the control of pneumatic tripod parallel manipulator using fuzzy logic can be established.

Water supply network is an essential element of urban water supply systems. The operation of a water supply system is inseparably connected with a risk of failure. The main problem in the risk of failure analysis of water mains is the uncertainty of the information collected on the description of failure. In order to consider the uncertainty of information, the theory of fuzzy sets was used. The fuzzification of frequency, severity and the consequences of the incident scenario is basic input for fuzzy risk analysis. The presented model is part of a complex model of risk management of failures in water mains and can be used in practice in system operator’s decision-making process. An adaptation of the fuzzy set theory to analyse risk of failure of water mains is not a standard approach. An effect of the analysis of different sources of risk can be used for the design of a more reliable safety system assurance.

W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję laboratoryjnego systemu wentylacji zrealizowanego w celach dydaktycznych. Zaprojektowane stanowisko pozwala zaznajomić się z zasadą działania falownika napięcia PWM oraz środowiska LabVIEW, jako tzw. komputerowego systemu szybkiego prototypowania. W środowisku LabVIEW zaimplementowano opcję automatycznego sterowania systemem poprzez wykorzystanie regulatora rozmytego. Ponadto umożliwiając również, w celach dydaktycznych, modyfikowanie jego ustawień przez m.in. dobór funkcji przynależności, bazy reguł rozmytych, czy metody wyostrzania.
The laboratory ventilation system (Fig. 1) presented in the paper is intended mainly for didactic purposes. One of the main advantages of the ventilation system is the ability to control mode selection – basic mode and extended mode. Availability of function blocks (Fig. 2) depends on the control mode. In the basic mode, only a speed control unit (Fig. 5) is available. Dynamic progress of power electronics has led to a change in the construction of drives with variable speed [1]. This function block uses a PWM inverter for air flow rate control. The PWM inverter supply 3-phase induction motor is currently the most popular solution for the drive system with variable speed [2]. In the extended mode, there are additionally available a heating control unit and a master control unit. The system uses a resistive heater. Its control (Fig. 7) is based on the group control method. One of the options in this mode is the ability of automatic adjustment using a fuzzy logic controller (Fig. 8). Fuzzy logic uses the knowledge base in the form of fuzzy rules of conditional if-then [3]. In this system, controller settings can be properly modified by the change of membership functions (Figs. 9, 10, 11), base of fuzzy rules (Tab. 1), or the method of defuzzification. In the extended mode, all control is made using a computer with LabVIEW software. The test results for the automatic adjustment proved the correctness of the system.

In many situations, the model of the transportation network contains a very large number of nodes, so the algorithms operating on such a model may be too time-consuming. Therefore there is a need to simplify the model by reducing the number of nodes. The simplest approach using the physical neighbourhood of the nodes and then aggregation of nearby nodes may be insufficient, because it does not take into account the different roles played by the nodes subject to the merger. Some of them have local significance and can be aggregated without disturbing the traffic flows across the whole network. For other nodes traffic flows associated with geographically distant nodes can be much larger than the local flows. Nodes of this kind should not be aggregated with their neighbours. This paper presents an algorithm for grouping the transportation network nodes using fuzzy logic, which processes the qualitative characteristics of nodes.

Opis:
We describe in this paper the combination of soft computing techniques and fractal theory for achieving intelligent manufacturing. Soft computing techniques can be used to develop hybrid intelligent systems. Fractal theory can be used to analyze the geometrical complexity of natural and artificial objects. The careful combination of soft computing and fractal theory can provide us with a good mix of intelligent techniques and fractal mathematical tools, which can help in achieving automation of manufacturing processes. We consider in this paper several manufacturing and automation problems that are efficiently solved with the proposed approach.

This paper describes a modular neural network (MNN) with fuzzy integration for the problem of signature recognition. Currently, biometric identification has gained a great deal of research interest within the pattern recognition community. For instance, many attempts have been made in order to automate the process of identifying a person’s handwritten signature; however this problem has proven to be a very difficult task. In this work, we propose a MNN that has three separate modules, each using different image features as input, these are: edges, wavelet coefficients, and the Hough transform matrix. Then, the outputs from each of these modules are combined using a Sugeno fuzzy integral and a fuzzy inference system. The experimental results obtained using a database of 30 individual’s shows that the modular architecture can achieve a very high 99.33% recognition accuracy with a test set of 150 images. Therefore, we conclude that the proposed architecture provides a suitable platform to build a signature recognition system. Furthermore we consider the verification of signatures as false acceptance, false rejection and error recognition of the MNN.

The paper presents a new approach to reliability and functional analysis of sophisticated complex systems using fuzzy logic. We propose to use such methodology since dependability parameters of the system are mostly approximated by experts instead of classical sources of data. Presented approach show different idea – modeling system using the unified structure – in functional sense. We assess the reliability of the system by accumulated down time. Fuzzy logic based reliability analysis, as well as Computer Information System and Discrete Transport System modeling and simulation are presented. Moreover, results of numerical experiment performed on a test case scenario related to the economic and functional aspects using proposed methodology are given. Fuzzy approach allows reducing the problem of assumptions of reliability distributions and – this way – seems to be very interesting for real systems management and tuning.

Opis:
Issues related to the automatic selection of the PID controller settings have been known for several years. This article describes the concept of self-tuning using fuzzy logic block (FLB). The FLB represents expert knowledge and in the process serves as the master. It describes the advantages of the designed structure of fuzzy logic simulation system application. The paper contains block diagram descriptions of designed controller and control loop. The designed tuning algorithm bases on quality indicators and rule bases which was described as membership functions. The readjustment of the controller settings takes place in subsequent iterations of the tuning process. Simulation tests result of the proposed tuning system topology were presented. As the simulation environment was used Matlab Simulink.

The paper presents the design and implementation of a digital rule-relational fuzzy logic controller. Classical and decomposed logical structures of fuzzy systems are discussed. The second allows a decrease in the hardware cost of the fuzzy system and in the computing time of the final result (fuzzy or crisp), especially when referring to relational systems. The physical architecture consists of IP modules implemented in an FPGA structure. The modules can be inserted into or removed from the project to get a desirable fuzzy logic controller configuration. The fuzzy inference system implemented in FPGA can operate with a much higher performance than software implementations on standard microcontrollers.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest omówienie zaproponowanego algorytmu do identyfikacji obwiedni izotopowych, opartego na teorii systemów rozmytych. Obecnie proteomika jest ściśle powiązana z chorobami nowotworowymi. Dlatego też bardzo ważne jest precyzyjne zidentyfikowanie białek znajdujących się w obszarze raka; stosowana jest w tym celu spektrometria masowa. Jedną z technik spektrometrii masowej jest MALDI. Otrzymane dane będące widmem masowym składają się ze stosunku masy do ładunku jonów oraz intensywnosci pików. W celu przetworzenia danych, usunięcia szumu, linii bazowej etc. stosuje się przetwarzanie wstępne. Identyfikacja obwiedni izotopowych jest częścią procesu przetwarzania wstępnego w proteomice. Polega ona na identyfikacji izotopów wchodzących w skład obwiedni izotopowej, a także pozwala na zredukowanie wymiaru danych. Istnieje wiele algorytmów do identyfikacji obwiedni izotopowej, jednak każdy z nich dedykowany jest dla innego rodzaju techniki spektrometrii masowej (MALDI, LC-MS, ESI, etc.) bądź dla konkretnego rodzaju cząsteczek. Dlatego też zaproponowany algorytm został oparty na teorii systemów rozmytych, a reguły wnioskowania zostały oparte na wieloletnich doświadczeniach eksperta w dziedzinie spektrometrii masowej. Przetestowany był on na danych uzyskanych z Instytutu Onkologii im. Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie w Gliwicach, pochodzących z badań nad rakiem głowy i szyi dla losowo wybranej grupy peptydów i lipidów. Wyniki autorskiego algorytmu do identyfikacji obwiedni izotopowych porównano z jedną z istniejących metod do identyfikacji obwiedni izotopowych.
Nowadays, mass spectrometry is widely used in proteomics for confident and precise identification of the protein. One of the most important steps in the signal analysis is deisotoping because some peaks in the spectrum are not the unique compound, but there are members of an isotopic envelope. Although the mass spectrometry is present in proteomics for a long time already, the problem of isotope peaks identification is not solved yet. The existing algorithms, usually designed for the particular type of spectrometer, are semi-supervised and do not give satisfactory results. We propose a new algorithm based on fuzzy inference systems that can accurately identify the isotopic envelopes in the spectrum of the complex structure.

The crime rates in Mexico have been increasing in recent years; every day, there are reports on social media and in the news where assaults and verbal aggression by criminals can be seen. Public transportation units suffer from violence that authorities have not been able to reduce despite their efforts. This is why we have developed a fuzzy logic model that can adapt to almost any scenario thanks to the dynamism that we have implemented in each of its stages. We have obtained promising results that we believe will be of great help to the authorities for detecting the exact moment in which verbal aggression that is typical of a violent assault is happening in real time. This is a tool to help the authorities, not a substitution; we are simply making use of the latest technologies that are available to us. The goal of this paper is to provide a novel method for Mexican authorities in Mexico City in order to help the actual surveillance systems make faster decisions about whether violent assaults are happening or not.

Opis:
A calculation model of teaching costs in a university is a system of guidelines, notions and relations to facilitate an assessment of the costs generated by individual university departments, majors, subjects etc. The existing calculation models based on the assessment of costs with the use of precision data prove to be ineffective in practice. The major drawback of these systems is the fact that it is not possible to take into account non-precision data in relation to cost generating factors (e.g. the number of didactic groups, hourly rates etc.). This article presents the author’s own proposal of a cost calculation model based on the formalism of fuzzy logics (with the use of the L-R representation). On the basis of the model proposed, it is possible to assess the costs of an academic subject with imprecise information concerning cost generating factors, or the values of those factors are assessed which imply the values set of the cost of a subject.

The purpose of this paper is to present a novel mechatronic system for gait re-education which consists of a body weight support system (BWS system) and a treadmill. This publication covers mainly issues related to the design and optimization process of a control algorithm dedicated for the unloading system. The proposed control system is based on a fuzzy logic controller coupled with a PID regulator. The optimization of parameters for regulators has been conducted based on numerical simulations in which a hybrid optimization method combining a genetic algorithm with a gradient algorithm has been used. The developed control system has been tested experimentally.

This paper proposed a sensor based navigation method with a fuzzy combiner for navigation of a mobile robot in uncertain environments. We discuss a fuzzy approach to path design and control of simple individual behaviours of a wheeled mobile robot in an unknown 2D environment with static obstacles. A strategy of reactive navigation is developed including three main behaviours: reaching the middle of a collision-free space behaviour, goal-seeking behaviour and wall-following behaviour. These simple individual behaviours are achieved by means of fuzzy inference systems. It is assumed that each low-level behaviour has been well developed at the design stage and then fused by the fuzzy combiner of behaviours to determine proper actions acting on the environment at the running stage. The fuzzy combiner can fuse low-level behaviours so that the mobile robot can go for the goal position without colliding with obstacles. The fuzzy combiner is a soft switch that chooses more than one low-level action to be active with different degrees through fuzzy combination at each time step. The output of the navigation level is fed into a fuzzy tracking controller that takes into account the dynamics of the mobile robot. A computer simulation have been conducted to illustrate the performance of these proposed fuzzy combiner of behaviours by a series of experiments on an emulator of the wheeled mobile robot Pioneer-2DX.
W pracy analizuje się zagadnienie nawigacji odruchowej mobilnego robota kołowego w nieznanym otoczeniu. Przedstawiono rozmyte podejście do projektowania trajektorii ruchu i sterowania prostych indywidualnych zachowań mobilnego robota kołowego w nieznanym środowisku dwuwymiarowym ze statycznymi przeszkodami. Stategię odruchowej nawigacji zastosowano do realizacji trzech elementarnych zachowań: osiągnij środek wolnej przestrzeni, idź do celu, podążaj przy ścianie. Powyższe elementarne zachowania zrealizowano stosując układy z logiką rozmytą. Zakłada się że każde z elementarnych zachowań realizowane przez niższy poziom sterowania jest poprawnie zaprojektowane, a ich koordynacja odbywa się na wyższym poziomie hierarchii sterowania przez rozmyty układ koordynacyjny, którego zadaniem jest wygenerowanie właściwych sterowań umożliwiających realizację zadania nawigacji. Rozmyty układ koordynacji elementarnych zachowań łączy te zachowania generując zadaną trajektorię ruchu wybranego punktu mobilnego robota kołowego. Trajektoria ta jest realizowana przez układ niskiego poziomu sterowania ruchem nadążnym mobilnego robota kołowego uwzględniającym dynamikę obiektu sterowania. W celu weryfikacji zaproponowanego rozwiązania przeprowadzono symulacje komputerowe na emulatorze mobilnego robota Pionner-2DX.

The article presents the concept of automated final process of aircraft taxiing to the gate at the terminal. On the basis of an analysis of the possibilities of aircraft taxiing in civil airports, the authors attempted at optimizing this process. The main objective of the project is to reduce the taxiing time, consequently reducing fuel consumption as well as the rotation time. As a result of the work, the authors designed a controller based on fuzzy logic, which, depending on the initial parameters, calculates the set values for the execution system of aircraft control in the horizontal plane and for the taxi speed. The controller receives two input signals, which determine two output signals. The designed controller allows comprehensive and fully automated aircraft steering. The project relies on data with regard to the apron class D, suited to handle aircraft with a wingspan of up to 52 m and the characteristics of a Boeing 767-200 in speed taxiing and the maximum turn of the nose gear. The measurements of the apron have been adopted in accordance with international regulations in the ICAO DOC 9157 “Aerodrome Design Manual”. The maximum deviation of the nose gear from the centre line was assumed 2.5 m in each direction and a safe distance behind the immobile aircraft equal to 25 m. The length of the Boeing aircraft 767-200 is below 48 m, therefore the input boundary parameters are equal to +/- 2.5 m from the centre line and 80 m from the designated aircraft stand (nose gear). The article presents the project of the controller and its optimization. The authors simulated the controller operation in the package MATLAB “Simulink”. The article ends with data analysis and final conclusions.

This article presents a methodological proposal for implementing interval type-2 fuzzy processors over digital signal controller technology. We describe the main considerations that a practitioner or an engineer should follow when implementing an interval type-2 fuzzy system over an embedded processor. These considerations guide the implementation study of eight interval type-2 fuzzy processors, which are fully characterized and tested. Results show that by combining fast computing strategies and technologies like digital signal controllers, the inference time of an embedded type-2 fuzzy processor can be set to hundreds of microseconds.

Opis:
The most popular control algorithm in attitude stabilization of multirotor aerial vehicles is a PID controller. It is used so frequently because of low computational requirements and simplicity of implementation and tuning. However, there are many other control algorithms suitable for this task, for example fuzzy logic or neural networks controllers. These algorithms are more complex than PID, but with appropriate knowledge and hardware it is possible to implement them in the on-board controller. This paper presents the comparison of the mentioned algorithms during simulation experiments. The construction process of a micro multirotor flying platform NeuroQuad and the implementation of the tested algorithms on this platform are described.

In this work the optimization process of the tracking and reactive controllers for a mobile robot are presented. The Chemical Reaction Algorithm (CRA) is used to find the optimal parameter values of the membership functions and rules for the reactive and tracking controllers. In this case, we are using five membership functions in each variable of the fuzzy controllers. The main goal of the reactive controller is aimed at providing the robot with the ability to avoid obstacles in its environment. The tests are performed on a benchmark maze problem, in which the goal is not necessarily to leave the maze, but rather that the robot avoids obstacles, in this case the walls, and penalizing for unwanted trajectories, such as cycles. The tracking controller’s goal is for the robot to keep into to a certain path, this in order that the robot can learn to react to unknown environments. The optimization algorithm that was used is based on an abstraction of chemical reactions. To perform the simulation we use the “SimRobot” toolbox, the results of the tests are presented in a detailed fashion, and at the end we are presenting a comparison of results among the CRA, PSO and GA methods.

Mobile adhoc network is self-configurable and adaptive. Due to node mobility we cannot predict load on the network which leads to congestion, one of the widely researched area in manets. A lot of congestion control techniques and metrics have been proposed to overcome it before its occurrence or after it has occurred. In this survey we identify the currently used congestion control metrics. Through this survey we also propose a congestion control metric RFR(resource free ratio) which considers three most important parameters to provide congestion free route discovery. Further we show the results of node selection based on fuzzy logic calculations using the proposed metric.

Nowadays, applied computer-oriented and information digitalization technologies are developing very dynamically and are widely used in various industries. One of the highest priority sectors of the economy of Ukraine and other countries around the world, the needs of which require intensive implementation of high-performance information technologies, is agriculture. The purpose of the article is to synthesise scientific and practical provisions to improve the information technology of the comprehensive monitoring and control of microclimate in industrial greenhouses. The object of research is nonstationary processes of aggregation and transformation of measurement data on soil and climatic conditions of the greenhouse microclimate. The subject of research is methods and models of computer-oriented analysis of measurement data on the soil and climatic state of the greenhouse microclimate. The main scientific and practical effect of the article is the development of the theory of intelligent information technologies for monitoring and control of greenhouse microclimate through the development of methods and models of distributed aggregation and intellectualised transformation of measurement data based on fuzzy logic.

This study assessed the spatio-temporal changes in corn climatic suitability in the Philippines under futureclimate condition. Using extracted climatic data from WorldClim database for the country under baseline and futureclimate condition, changes in corn suitability was assessed using fuzzy logic approach and published rainfall andtemperature requirement of the crop. Based on the data, the large portion of the country will experience increase inmonthly total rainfall (88%) while increase in monthly mean and minimum temperature under future climate conditionis projected for the entire country. These increases in rainfall and temperature resulted in changes of corn climaticsuitability in the country depending on the month and location. On the average, changes in rainfall resulted in reduction(8%) and improvement (6%) in corn suitability while increase in temperature resulted in 5% and 0.4% reductionand improvement, respectively.

In this paper, a fuzzy based trust management system is proposed to facilitate cloud consumers in identifying trustworthy providers. The performance of the proposed system is validated through a simulation using CloudAnalyst and Simulink.

The aim of this paper is to present the concept of the supply chain resilience assessment in the case of disruptive events occurrence. Firstly, the methods for modelling uncertainty in terms of their application to assess this type of risk will be discussed, and then the concept of a fuzzy logic expert model enabling a quantitative assessment of supply chain resilience will be presented. Finally the structure of the simulation model has been proposed, which consists of the partial resilience models, namely: security, survivability and recovery ones. In the course of the simulation process, it is possible to identify the rules involved in system output as well as changes in resilience level which account for changes in inputs values.

This paper presents the study and implementation of a new vector control strategy using a hybrid control technique applied to the mechanical position loop aiming to obtain a system that acts in the fractional horsepower motor driver running at near zero frequency. For this purpose, some control techniques are employed to check which one has the best performance regarding this type of application. The use of three control techniques is considered: the Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller with fixed gain; the Generalized Predictive Control (GPC) controller; and a hybrid controller. The last one behaves as both PID and GPC using fuzzy logic in order to achieve improved system performance. Simulation and experimental results are shown and discussed to demonstrate the merits of the proposed approach.

This paper presents the optimized fuzzy logic controller (FLC) with on-line tuning of scaling factors for vibration control of thin-walled composite beams. In order to improve the performances and robustness properties of FLC, the proposed method adjusts the input scaling factors via peak observer. The membership functions of the proposed FLC are optimized using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The composite beam is modeled by the third-order shear deformation theory (TSDT) and discretized by using the finite element method. Several numerical examples are provided for the cantilever composite beam under a periodic excitation and periodic excitation with an unexpected disturbance. In order to present the efficiency of the proposed controller, the obtained results are compared with the corresponding results in the cases of the optimized FLCs with constant scaling factors and LQR optimal control strategy.
W pracy zaprezentowano zoptymalizowany sterownik z logiką rozmytą (FLC) o bieżąco dostrajanych współczynnikach skalowania zastosowany do redukcji drgań cienkościennych belek kompozytowych. Dla poprawy efektywności i stabilności pracy sterownika zaproponowano dostrajanie współczynników skalowania na wejściu poprzez śledzenie wartości szczytowej sygnału. Funkcje przynależności sterownika FLC zoptymalizowano algorytmem roju cząstek (PSO). Rozważaną belkę kompozytową opisano modelem teorii odkształceń postaciowych trzeciego rzędu (TSDT) i zdyskretyzowano metodą elementów skończonych. Przedstawiono kilka przykładów belki wspornikowej poddanej wymuszeniu okresowemu z nieoczekiwanym zakłóceniem tego wymuszenia. W celu zeprezentowania efektywności analizowanego sterownika uzyskane wyniki porównano z istniejącymi rezultatami odpowiadającymi sterownikom FLC o stałych współczynnikach skalowania i zoptymalizowanej strategii sterowania wykorzystującej regulator liniowo-kwadratowy (LQR).

Fuzzy logic has been used in different research fields for more than three decades. It has become a robust method to solve complex and intricate problems which are otherwise difficult to solve by traditional methods. But it still requires some human experience and knowledge. In the present study, an attempt is made to design a hybrid optimization technique for automatic formation of the fuzzy knowledge based rules using an evolutionary algorithm. This hybridization technique has been applied in the field of damage detection and location of cracks in cracked structural elements. In this paper, a robust fault diagnostic tool based on a differential evolution algorithm and fuzzy logic has been proposed. Theoretical and Finite Element analyzes are done to model the crack and to find the effect of the presence of cracks on changes of vibrational characteristic (natural frequencies) of a fixed-fixed beam. The inputs to DEA-FL system are the first three relative natural frequencies, and the outputs from the system are the relative crack depth and relative crack location. For the validation of the results obtained from the proposed method and to check the robustness of the controller, experimental analysis is performed. To find average error rates, the bootstrap method has been adopted.

Many authors have highlighted the importance of physical assets maintenance management in relation to resilience engineering, especially for systems operating under significant uncertainty. Thus, the authors presented a new approach to system maintenance based on resilience concept implementation. They introduced Maintenance Support Potentials (MSP) as a measure of an organization's maintenance support capacity. Moreover, based on the MSP definition, they developed a fuzzy-based organization's maintenance support potential level assessment method. The proposed approach takes into account two main MSP parameters – potential readiness level and process regency. It followed four main steps, including organization's MSP identification/evaluation, MSP weights assessment, Maintenance Support Capacity assessment, and final reasoning. A case study of a global manufacturer from the automotive industry is presented to illustrate the method's applicability. The authors also indicated further research directions to optimize the maintenance strategy based on Resilience-Based Maintenance concept.

Fuzzy logic determination of the material hardening parameters based on the Heyer’s method was applied in this research. As the fuzzy input variables, the length of two measuring bases and the maximum force registered in the Heyer's test were used. Firstly, the numerical experiment (the simulation of the fuzzification of the input data) with the assumed disturbance of input variables was performed. Next, on the basis of experimental investigations (eleven samples made from the same material), the membership functions associated with the input data were created. After that, the fuzzy analysis was examined. Fuzzy material hardening constants obtained by means of the α-level optimization and the extension principle methods were compared. Discrete values of the hardening data are found in the defuzzification process, by application of the mass center method.

This work proposes a software environment implementing a methodology for acquiring and exploiting the collective perception (CP) of Points of Interests (POIs) in a Smart City, which is meant to support decision makers in urban planning and management. This environment relies upon semantic knowledge discovery techniques and fuzzy computational approaches, including natural language processing, sentiment analysis, POI signatures and Fuzzy Cognitive Maps, turning them into a cohesive architectural blend in order to effectively gather the realistic perception of a user community towards given areas and attractions of a Smart City. The environment has been put to the test via a thorough experimentation against a massive user base of an online community with respect to a large metropolitan city (the City of Naples). Such an experimentation yielded consistent results, useful for providing decision makers with a clear awareness of the positive as well as critical aspects of urban areas, and thus helping them shape the measures to be taken for an improved city management and development.

The analysis of eye movements is valuable in both clinical work and research. One of the characteristic type of eye movements is saccade. The accurate detection of saccadic eye movements is the base for further processing of saccade parameters such velocity, amplitude and duration. This paper presents an accurate saccade detection method which is supported by the fuzzy clustering. The proposed detection function is computationally efficient and precisely determines the time position of the saccadic eye movement event. The described method is characterized by low sensitivity for any kind of noise and can be applied in the analysis of the congenital nystagmus.

The proactive maintenance is an effective approach to enhance the system availability through real time monitoring the current state of a system. The key part of this method is forecasting the nonoperational states for advanced warning of the failure possibility that can bring the attention of machines operators and maintenance personnel to impending danger facilitate planning preventive and corrective operations, and resources managing as well. The paper presents the HMI/SCADA-type application used to support decision-making process. The proposed approach to proactive maintenance is based on forecasting the remaining useful life of device equipment and delivering the user-defined maintenance strategy developed during system operation. The HMI/SCADA application is used to collect data in form of failures history, changes of operational conditions and performances of a monitored process between failures, as well as heuristic knowledge about process created by experienced user. The data history is used to design the predictive fuzzy models of time between failures of system equipment. The fuzzy predictive models are designed using the genetic algorithm applied to optimize the fuzzy partitions covering the training data examples, as well as to identify fuzzy predictive patterns represented by a set of rules in the knowledge base. The evolutionary learning strategy, which has been proposed in this paper, provides the effective reproduction techniques for searching the solution space with respect to optimization of knowledge base and membership functions according to the fitness function expressed as a ratio of compatibility of fuzzy partitions with data examples to root mean squares error. The proposed application was created and tested on the laboratory stand for monitoring the availability of the overhead travelling crane.

This paper presents a new differential protection scheme for transmission lines with application of fuzzy signal processing and support of phase comparison criterion. Traditional differential relays may have problems with proper classification of external faults with CT saturation. Better protection stabilization for such cases is obtained with support of fuzzy signal processing. In proposed solution the input signals as well as the standard percentage characteristic are fuzzified. The performance of presented fuzzy protection scheme has been tested with the signals generated with use of EMTP-ATP program and compared to the traditional solution.
W artykule zaprezentowano nowe zabezpieczenie różnicowe, w którym zastosowano rozmyte przetwarzanie sygnałów oraz dodatkowe kryterium porównawczo-fazowe. Proponowane zabezpieczenie jest bardziej odporne na zwarcia zewnętrzne z nasyceniem przekładników prądowych, co potwierdziły przeprowadzone testy. Proponowany algorytm testowany był na sygnałach pochodzących z symulacji w EMTP-ATP, a wyniki porównano ze standardowym przekaźnikiem różnicowym.

Sensitive equipment and non-linear loads are now more common in both the industrial/commercial sectors and the domestic environment. Because of this a heightened awareness of power quality is developing amongst electricity users. Therefore, power quality is an issue that is becoming increasingly important to electricity consumers at all levels of usage. This article presents the fuzzy system to determine the power quality. The performance of three-phase induction motor is observed for different power quality conditions in laboratory. The power quality is in terms of voltage is intentionally disturbed by means of three-phase motor alternator set and chopper circuit. It is observed that the fuzzy system is able to make correct diagnosis of power quality. It is also observed that as the power quality become poor, the motor efficiency decreases, causing significant rise in power input to meet the rated load demand, and thereby rise in electric bill.

The idea of using the Cloud of Things is becoming more critical for e-government, as it is considered to be a useful mechanism of facilitating the government’s work. The most important benefit of using the Cloud of Things concept is the increased productivity that the e-governments would achieve; which eventually would lead to significant cost savings; which in turn would have a highly anticipated future impact on egovernments. E-government’s diversity goals face many challenges; trust is one of the major challenges that it is facing when deploying the Cloud of Things. In this study, a new trust framework is proposed which supports trust with the Internet of Things devices interconnected to the cloud; to support the services that are provided by e-government to be delivered in a trusted manner. The proposed framework has been applied to a use case study to ensure its trustworthiness in a real mission. The results show that the proposed trust framework is useful to ensure achieving a trusted environment for the Cloud of Things for it to continue providing and gathering the data needed for the services that are offered by users through E-government.

W artykule zaprezentowano przesłanki metodycznej koncepcji ergonomicznego narzędzia diagnostycznego umożliwiającego ocenę użyteczności oraz możliwych funkcjonalności konkretnej platformy internetowej. Ocena ta ma umożliwiać doskonalenie funkcjonowania układu, w którym z jednej strony występują użytkownicy tej platformy, z drugiej natomiast twór techniki w postaci internetowej aplikacji informatycznej. Propozycja metody ma charakter jakościowo-heurystyczny i obejmuje siedem konkretnych kryteriów oceny. Autorzy sugerują wykorzystanie jednego z dwóch wariantów szczegółowego (opartego na zestawie pytań kontrolnych typu check-list) arkusza jego oceny: szacowania punktowego z uśrednianiem lub zastosowania logiki rozmytej w celu określania ocen grupowych i oceny całościowej.
The paper presents the methodological premises of an ergonomic diagnostic tool which assesses the utility as well as functionality of a particular internet platform. This assessment is supposed to enable the improved functioning of the system which involves, on the one hand, the platform users, and on the other hand, some internet application technologies. The proposed method has a qualitative-heuristic character and involves seven assessment criteria. The authors suggest using one of the two detailed alternatives (based on a check-list) of assessment: point estimation of the mean or application of fuzzy logic for determining group and comprehensive evaluations.

Opis:
Data management and monitoring is an important issue in scientific computation. Scientists want to access their data as quickly as possible. Some experiments need to store a lot of data which have to be secure. By saying this we mean that this data can not disappear or be damaged also the data storage should be as cheap as possible. In this paper we present an approach to the automation of monitoring and management of data storage. We introduce a knowledge based system which is able to manage data, i.e., make decisions on migrating data, replicating or removing it. We discuss some of the existing solutions which are popular on the market. In this paper we aim to present our system which uses such AI techniques like fuzzy logic or a rule-based expert system to deal with data storage management. We exploit in this system a cost model to analyze the proposed solutions. The operations performed by our system are aimed to optimize the usage of the monitored infrastructure.

The paper aims to present an empirical application of an originally developed model for corporate potential innovativeness assessment and comparison. The proposed model provides a framework for combined static and dynamic potential innovativeness assessment with the use of fuzzy logic. Fuzzy logic is used to assess corporate potential innovativeness from two perspectives: resources conditioning innovation activities in an enterprise, and the engagement of an enterprise in their continuous development. In this context, selected companies from the information technology sector listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange were examined. The need for corporate innovativeness measurement and evaluation for management purposes arises from its growing importance in building enterprise value and achieving long-term competitive advantage. The proposed model enables the fairly current and good orientation in both general and a more in-depth innovativeness potential level of the assessed enterprises. This can be the basis for various comparison analysis and managerial decisions regarding e.g. innovation management as well as managing corporate image and reputation.

This paper deals with pretabularity of fuzzy logics. For this, we first introduce two systems NMnfp and NM½, which are expansions of the fuzzy system NM (Nilpotent minimum logic), and examine the relationships between NMnfp and the another known extended system NM-. Next, we show that NMnfp and NM½ are pretabular, whereas NM is not. We also discuss their algebraic completeness.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) acquired a lot of attention due to their widespread use in monitoring hostile environments, critical surveillance and security applications. In these applications, usage of wireless terminals also has grown significantly. Grouping of Sensor Nodes (SN) is called clustering and these sensor nodes are burdened by the exchange of messages caused due to successive and recurring re-clustering, which results in power loss. Since most of the SNs are fitted with nonrechargeable batteries, currently researchers have been concentrating their efforts on enhancing the longevity of these nodes. For battery constrained WSN concerns, the clustering mechanism has emerged as a desirable subject since it is predominantly good at conserving the resources especially energy for network activities. This proposed work addresses the problem of load balancing and Cluster Head (CH) selection in cluster with minimum energy expenditure. So here, we propose hybrid method in which cluster formation is done using unsupervised machine learning based kmeans algorithm and Fuzzy-logic approach for CH selection.

In the paper issues related to the design of a robust adaptive fuzzy estimator for a drive system with a flexible joint is presented. The proposed estimator ensures variable Kalman gain (based on the Mahalanobis distance) as well as the estimation of the system parameters (based on the fuzzy system). The obtained value of the time constant of the load machine is used to change the values in the system state matrix and to retune the parameters of the state controller. The proposed control structure (fuzzy Kalman filter and adaptive state controller) is investigated in simulation and experimental tests.

In fact, reliability as the qualities metric is the probability success or the probability that a system or a set of tasks will work without failure for a specified constraints of time and space, as specified in the design and operating conditions specified temperature, humidity, vibration and action. A relatively new methodologies for developing complex software systems engineering is an aspect oriented software systems, that provides the new methods for the separation of concerns multiple module configuration or intervention and automatic integration them with a system. In this paper, a method using fuzzy logic to measure software reliability based on the above aspects is presented. The proposed approach regarding the use of appropriate metrics and low errors in the estimation of reliability has a better performance than other methods.

Wireless sensor networks have attracted attention of researchers considering their abundant applications. One of the important issues in this network is limitation of energy consumption which is directly related to life of the network. One of the main works which have been done recently to confront with this problem is clustering. In this paper, an attempt has been made to present clustering method which performs clustering in two stages. In the first stage, it specifies candidate nodes for being head cluster with fuzzy method and in the next stage, the node of the head cluster is determined among the candidate nodes with cellular learning automata. Advantage of the clustering method is that clustering has been done based on three main parameters of the number of neighbors, energy level of nodes and distance between each node and sink node which results in selection of the best nodes as a candidate head of cluster nodes. Connectivity of network is also evaluated in the second part of head cluster determination. Therefore, more energy will be stored by determining suitable head clusters and creating balanced clusters in the network and consequently, life of the network increases.

The present paper presents a systemic approach to foundry management. Thanks to production process modelling and simulation techniques, an attempt was made to synthesise many interconnected devices and numerous manufacturing stages into one production system. The sheets of multi-criterion evaluation were prepared, where criteria and variants were assessed by means of subjective point evaluation and fuzzy character evaluation. The paper presents an analysis example of finishing activities of castings realized in foundry and in cooperation.

Combining the outputs of multiple neural networks has been used in Ensemble architectures to improve the decision accuracy in many applications fields, including pattern recognition, in particular for the case of fingerprints. In this paper, we describe a set of experiments performed in order to find the optimal individual networks in terms of the architecture and training rule. In the second step, we used the fuzzy Sugeno Integral to integrate results of the ensemble neural networks. This method combines objective evidence in the form of the network's outputs, with subjective measures of their performance. In the third step, we used a Fuzzy Inference System for the decision process of finding the output of the ensemble neural networks, and finally a comparison of experimental results between Fuzzy Sugeno Integral and the Fuzzy Inference System are presented.

In this contribution, a control scheme based on multi input multi output Fuzzy Sliding Mode control (MIMOFSMC) for linear speed regulation of multi-motors system is proposed. Once the decoupled model of the multi- motors system is obtained, a smooth control function with a threshold was chosen to indicate how far the state from to the sliding surface is. However, the magnitude of this control function depends closely on the upper bound of uncertainties, and this generates chattering. So, this magnitude has to be chosen with great care to obtain high performances. Usually the upper bound of uncertainties is difficult to known before motor operation, so, a Fuzzy Sliding Mode controller is investigated to solve this difficulty; a simple Fuzzy inference mechanism is used to reduce the chattering phenomenon by simple adjustments. A simulation study is carried out and shows that the proposed controller has great potential for use as an alternative to the conventional sliding mode contro.

Efficient control of the process of jigging ore of small and fine grain allows avoiding the loss of valuable material in production residual. Due to the multi-dimensionality and multi-connectivity of this enrichment process, classical control methods do not allow achieving the maximum technological indicators of enrichment. This paper proposes investigating intelligent algorithms for controlling the jigging process, which determine the key variables - the level of the natural «bed» and the ripple frequency of the jigging machine. Algorithms are developed using fuzzy logic, neural and hybrid networks. The adequacy of intelligent algorithms was evaluated using the following criteria: correlation of expert and model values (R); Root Mean Square Error (RMSE); Mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). To assess the adequacy of the obtained algorithms, a test sample of input variables, different from the training one, was compiled. As a consequence, we determined an algorithm that gives a minimal discrepancy between the calculated and experimental data.

The computational intelligence tool has major contribution to analyse the properties of materials without much experimentation. The B4 C particles are used to improve the quality of the strength of materials. With respect to the percentage of these particles used in the micro and nano, composites may fix the mechanical properties. The different combinations of input parameters determine the characteristics of raw materials. The load, content of B4 C particles with 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10% will determine the wear behaviour like CoF, wear rate etc. The properties of materials like stress, strain, % of elongation and impact energy are studied. The temperature based CoF and wear rate is analysed. The temperature may vary between 30°C, 100°C and 200°C. In addition, the CoF and wear rate of materials are predicted with respect to load, weight % of B4 C and nano hexagonal boron nitride %. The intelligent tools like Neural Networks (BPNN, RBNN, FL and Decision tree) are applied to analyse these characteristics of micro/nano composites with the inclusion of B4 C particles and nano hBN % without physically conducting the experiments in the Lab. The material properties will be classified with respect to the range of input parameters using the computational model.

W artykule przedstawiono praktyczne zastosowanie regulatora rozmytego do stabilizacji parametrów pracy pompy próżniowej. Opisano wymagania stawiane regulatorowi od strony podzespołów wykonawczych, jak również ograniczenia wynikające z zastosowanego układu sterowania. Zaprezentowano strukturę, tablicę decyzyjną, zmienne wejściowe i wyjściową oraz uzyskaną powierzchnię sterowania. Pokazano zachowanie regulatora podczas pracy przy stałej wartości temperatury zadanej, przy jej zmianie skokowej, a także jej wpływ na parametry pracy pompy.
The paper presents practical application of a fuzzy logic controller to stabilization of work parameters of a vacuum pump shown in Fig. 1 cooperating with the machine filling bottles with beer. A fragment of the filling machine visualisation system (Fig. 2) containing a controlled object together with description of its main components is shown in Paragraph 2. The third paragraph of the paper is concerned with the requirements given to a controller from the executive component as well as limitations for program development resulting from the applied controller system. Paragraph 4 deals with a fuzzy controller. There is presented its structure (Fig. 3), controller decision chart (Fig. 4), input variables (Figs. 5 and 6) and output variable (Fig. 7). The obtained control surface of the applied controller is shown in Fig. 8. The description of program implementation in Simatic S5 controller is given in the fifth paragraph. The developed program includes a simplified way of calculations resulting from limitations of the central processing unit of the applied controller. In the sixth paragraph there are presented the results of operation controlled by the vacuum pump controller. The controller reaction during work at the given constant value of temperature and interferences is shown in Fig. 9. The unit was also tested with a step change of the given temperature and its influence on the obtained vacuum of the pump input was investigated.

Fuzzy logic systems, unlike black-box models, are known as transparent artificial intelligence systems that have explainable rules of reasoning. Type 2 fuzzy systems extend the field of application to tasks that require the introduction of uncertainty in the rules, e.g. for handling corrupted data. Most practical implementations use interval type-2 sets and process interval membership grades. The key role in the design of type-2 interval fuzzy logic systems is played by the type-2 inference defuzzification method. In type-2 systems this generally takes place in two steps: type-reduction first, then standard defuzzification. The only precise type-reduction method is the iterative method known as Karnik-Mendel (KM) algorithm with its enhancement modifications. The known non-iterative methods deliver only an approximation of the boundaries of a type-reduced set and, in special cases, they diminish the profits that result from the use of type-2 fuzzy logic systems. In this paper, we propose a novel type-reduction method based on a smooth approximation of maximum/minimum, and we call this method a smooth type-reduction. Replacing the iterative KM algorithm by the smooth type-reduction, we obtain a structure of an adaptive interval type-2 fuzzy logic which is non-iterative and as close to an approximation of the KM algorithm as we like.

The article discusses the manner of controlling the propulsion system in the aircraft Zlin 143LSi, which is equipped with a piston engine driving a variable-pitch propeller. All the operating procedures are carried out manually by the pilot in accordance with the flight manual. The authors attempted at developing the project of a controller based on fuzzy logic, whose main goal was automating the control system of the propulsion unit, thus lowering the level of difficulty of pilotage, and increasing the economics of the operation. The project was made in an interactive environment FuzzyLogic Toolbox of the MATLAB programme. In the analysis, three input parameters were taken into account, exerting an impact on changing the rotational speed of the propeller: the charging pressure of the propulsion unit expressed in inches of mercury, the speed of the aircraft (TAS) in knots and the angle of attack, at which the flight is made, expressed in degrees. On the basis of the above-mentioned input signals, the rotation speed of the propeller was determined, by changing the blade pitch and the recommended angle of attack for the parameters in order to make an optimal use of the data of the flight conditions. The article presents the project of the controller and its optimization. The authors simulated the controller operation in the package MATLAB “Simulink”. The article ends with data analysis and final conclusions.

Opis:
A novel data knowledge representation with the combination of structure learning ability of preprocessed collaborative fuzzy clustering and fuzzy expert knowledge of TakagiSugeno-Kang type model is presented in this paper. The proposed method divides a huge dataset into two or more subsets of dataset. The subsets of dataset interact with each other through a collaborative mechanism in order to find some similar properties within eachother. The proposed method is useful in dealing with big data issues since it divides a huge dataset into subsets of dataset and finds common features among the subsets. The salient feature of the proposed method is that it uses a small subset of dataset and some common features instead of using the entire dataset and all the features. Before interactions among subsets of the dataset, the proposed method applies a mapping technique for granules of data and centroid of clusters. The proposed method uses information of only half or less/more than the half of the data patterns for the training process, and it provides an accurate and robust model, whereas the other existing methods use the entire information of the data patterns. Simulation results show the proposed method performs better than existing methods on some benchmark problems.

We describe in this paper a general overview oj the analysis and design of hybrid intelligent systems for pattern recognition applications. Hybrid intelligent systems can be developed by a careful combination of several soft-computing techniques. The combination of soft computing techniques has to take advantage of the capabilities of each technique in solving port of the pattern recognition problem. We review the problems of face, fingerprint and mice recognition and their soiution using hybrid intelligent systems. Recognition rates achieved with the hybrid approaches are comparable with the best approaches known for solving these recognition problems.

Opis:
Communication atmosphere based on emotional states of humans and robots is modeled by using Fuzzy Atmosfield (FA), where the human emotion is estimated from bimodal communication cues (i.e., speech and gesture) using weighted fusion and fuzzy logic, and the robot emotion is generated by emotional expression synthesis. It makes possible to quantitatively express overall affective expression of individuals, and helps to facilitate smooth communication in humans-robots interaction. Experiments in a household environment are performed by four humans and five eye robots, where emotion recognition of humans based on bimodal cues achieves 84% accuracy in average, improved by about 10% compared to that using only speech. Experimental results from the model of communication atmosphere based on the FA are evaluated by comparing with questionnaire surveys, from which the maximum error of 0.25 and the minimum correlation coefficient of 0.72 for three axes in the FA confirm the validity of the proposal. In ongoing work, an atmosphere representation system is being planned for casual communication between humans and robots, taking into account multiple emotional modalities such as speech, gesture, and music.

In this paper, fuzzy logic is used to perform switching controllers for Multiple Model Adaptive Control (MMAC) in manipulator robot. In the cases which uncertainty bounds of system’s parameters are large, the performance and stability issue of system are considerable concerns. Multiple Model Adaptive Control approach can be useful method to stabilize these kinds of systems. In this control method, the uncertainty bound is divided into several smaller bounds. As a result, the process of stabilization would be streamlined. In this regard, one estimation is obtained for uncertain parameter in every minor bound, and based on estimation errors designed controller can alter. In order to avoid switching controllers and pertinent challenges a summation of controllers with coefficient tuned by fuzzy logic is considered. Simulation results substantiate the efficacy of this method.

Over the last two decades, a different modeling method based on fuzzy logic or neural networks has become popular and has been used by many researchers for a variety of engineering applications. Nowadays, for reducing the amount of experiment costs, modeling methods based on artificial neural networks and fuzzy logic systems have become more popular and have been used by many researchers for many civil engineering management applications. In this study a neuro-adaptive learning approach about costs of residential buildings was designed. As a result, NAL can be an alternative approach for the evaluation of the cost estimations of residential buildings construction.

Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is one of the well-known techniques of quality management that is used for continuous improvement in product or process design. One important issue of FMEA is the determination of the risk priorities of failure modes. The purpose of this paper is to compare three different methods for prioritizing failure modes in a process FMEA study. These methods are traditional approach, fuzzy logic and Genetic Algorithms using a risk-cost model of FMEA - to estimate the weight of risk factors. According to the findings, the integration of Genetic Algorithms and fuzzy revealed a difference in prioritizing failure modes among the methods. Because these methods eliminate some of the shortcomings of the traditional approach, they are useful tools in identifying the high priority failure modes. They can also provide the stability of process assurance.
Analiza przyczyn i skutków wad (FMEA) należy do dobrze znanych technik zarządzania jakością; jest wykorzystywana do ciągłego doskonalenia projektów, produktów lub procesów. Jedną z ważnych kwestii FMEA jest ustalanie priorytetów ryzyka niezgodności. Celem niniejszej pracy jest porównanie trzech metod ustalania poziomu ryzyka niezgodności: podejścia tradycyjnego, logiki rozmytej i algorytmów genetycznych na potrzeby analizy FMEA. Integracja algorytmów genetycznych i logiki rozmytej ujawniła różnicę w ustalaniu znaczenia przyczyn niezgodności. Ponieważ metody te eliminują niektóre wady podejścia tradycyjnego, są użytecznymi narzędziami w identyfikacji przyczyn niezgodności o wysokim ryzyku. Mogą również zapewniać stabilność procesu.

Opis:
Design of experiments (DOE) is an effective method providing useful information about the interaction of operating variables and the way the total system works by using statistical analyses. However, its industrial application is limited because it is almost difficult to maintain variables in DOE matrix at desired constant levels in industrial environment. Thus, this paper aims to present a new mixed modeling method which is a combination of fuzzy logic and design of experiments methods to overcome such practical limitations. The method first uses a fuzzy model which is trained by practical data gathered from industry to predict DOE response corresponding to each run in DOE matrix. Then, a statistical parametric model is constructed for the prediction of process response to any change of operating parameters under real industrial conditions. The proposed mixed method was successfully validated by using data obtained from a coal hydraulic classifier at Zarand Coal Washing Plant (Kerman, Iran). The method also seems to be a promising tool for modeling all devices and processes in real industrial environment and allows researchers to benefit from all the advantages of experimental design and fuzzy logic methods simultaneously.

This paper presents a method based on the use of fuzzy logic for the rapid selection of optimal induction sintering parameters. The prepared fuzzy controller uses expert knowledge developed from the results of induction sintering tests of Ti-5Al-5Mo-5V-3Cr alloy green compacts produced from a mixture of elemental powders. The analysis of the influence of the applied sintering parameters on the material characteristics was based on the evaluation of the microstructure state and the measurement of the relative density of the samples after sintering. In this way, a universal tool for estimating the sintering parameters of titanium powder-based green compacts was obtained. It was shown that with the help of fuzzy logic it is possible to analyze the influence of the parameters of the manufacturing process of metal powder materials on the quality of the obtained products.

Situation awareness is a crucial factor in decision-making. It involves monitoring and identification of relationships among the state changing objects in collaborative dynamic environments. In the domain of airport security a critical need is to support security operators in real-time management of risky airside scenarios. This work relies on a fuzzy cognitive ontology-based approach to model situation awareness and introduces an agent-based distributed evaluation architecture to address the problem. Specifically, in order to model situation awareness this work instantiates and integrates two assessed ontological meta-models, Situation Theory Ontology (STO) and Saw Core Ontology (SAW), extended to cope with uncertainty when modeling relations among objects occurring in the addressed dynamic environment. Many task-oriented soft computing agents are in charge of monitoring the modeled situations while distributing the information evaluation process leads to achieving better real-time like performance.

Research background: The relevance of the research on corporate culture in the conditions of changes is substantiated and its elements, which are important for effective transformations, are defined. The influence of corporate culture on the company performance and its elements is identified. The article deals with hierarchical levels of corporate culture which identify elements of corporate culture and "hidden" factors that allow establishing relationships with the outside world and promote productive work. Purpose of the article: The objective of the article is to identify the elements of the organizational culture at the enterprise level, which influence the effectiveness of its activities under the changes and generalization of its components that determine its ability to transform the existing state in accordance with the established world experience and practice. The research is based on the experience of gas transportation companies in Ukraine. Methods: The McKinsey 7S model was used to describe the enterprise to assess the state of the proposed levels of formation and to change its corporate culture. The McKinsey 7S Framework used in this study as analytical tool to explore a system of interrelated elements which improve the organization's work, raising the level of employee culture and generating common values. The expert method was used to assess the qualitative indices of enterprise internal environment, including "style/culture" and "common values", based on the questionnaire of the experts' group. The survey was conducted at three levels of management for the gas transportation companies, located in different regions of Ukraine. The three levels of management for the mentioned above enterprises - top, middle and low managers were taken into account. The use of the fuzzy logic method makes it possible to investigate the influence of the corporate culture elements on the results of the enterprises and to identify those elements which are important for the implementation of changes at the enterprise and without which it is impossible to achieve effective transformations. Findings & Value added: Taking into account the results of the assessment of corporate culture elements at the investigated companies, the directions of corporate culture development for enterprises that are in a state of changes are pointed out, namely: use of different management styles; support of employees in making innovative decisions; development of cooperation and elimination of conflicts between workers; formation of general corporate values; creating trust between employees and top managers; promoting the development of young workers; use of the mechanisms of education and maintenance of a high level of morality and culture of workers.

In the article a method of parametric diagnostics of a gas turbine, based on fuzzy logic is proposed. The diagnostic map of interconnection between some parts of turbine and changes of corresponding parameters has been developed. Also we have created model to define the efficiency of the compressor using fuzzy logic algorithms.
W artykule zaproponowano metodę parametrycznej diagnostyki turbiny gazowej w oparciu o logikę rozmytą. Opracowana została diagnostyczna mapa połączeń między niektórymi zespołami turbiny gazowej oraz zmianami odpowiednich parametrów. Ponadto udało nam się stworzyć model do określania wydajności sprężarki przy użyciu algorytmów logiki rozmytej.

Despite of the always growing attention to safety related topics, the enforcement of directives, regulations and technical standards and the improvement of technical solutions aimed to minimize the occupational risks, the number of people dying every day at workplaces is still excessively high. The overall number of injuries is recently decreasing, but both the frequency and the total yearly number of fatalities still remain fundamentalny unchanged in the last years. The main problem with accidental data, as officially reported, is that very often, no evaluation is possible in terms of root causes, e.g. standard violations. Since the target of the analysis is the determination of the causal chain of events that lead to the accident to understand how it happened and how to avoid the occurrence of similar situations, the lack of detailed information lead to many difficulties in the definition of the suitable prevention measures. This paper shows three different, but integrated. methods able to collect, manage and analyze the information related to occurred accidents for preventive purposes.

The problem under consideration in the paper of automation transportation operation realized by material handling devices is focused on time and accuracy of an overhead travelling crane's shifting process. The presented anti-sway crane control system was solved in the paper using combination of an indirect adaptive pole placement (IAPP) control method, fuzzy logic and artificial neural network. The presented approach to crane control is based on assuming structure of crane dynamic linear model with varying parameters, and linear closed-loop discrete control system consisting of proportional-derivative controllers with gains adjusted to changes of model's parameters using pole placement method (PPM). The parameters of crane dynamic model are estimated on-line using recursive least squares (RLS) algorithm. The estimation process is speeded up by neuro-fuzzy estimator, created using Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) fuzzy inference system, which determines the initial parameters of crane model based on scheduling variables, rope length and mass of a load changing in stochastic way. The neuro-fuzzy estimator is created in off-line process of neural network learning using least mean squares (LMS) method, based on a set of parametric output error models of crane dynamic identified for fixed values of rope length and mass of a load. The TSK estimator is next on-line improved by RLS algorithm.

Evacuation of people located inside the enclosed area of LNG terminal is a complex problem, especially considering that accidents involving LNG are potentially very hazardous. In order to create an evacuation model managed through fuzzy logic, extensive influence must be generated from safety analyses. A very important moment in the optimal functioning of an evacuation model is the creation of a database which incorporates all input indicators. The output result is the creation of a safety evacuation route which is active at the moment of the accident.

In automated manufacturing processes the safety, precise and fast transfer of goods realized by automated material handling devices is required to raise efficiency and productivity of manufacturing process. Hence, in those industrial branches where cranes are extensively used the problem of an anti-sway crane control is especially important to speed-up the time of transportation operations and ensures the safe and effective transportation operations. The precise positioning of a cargo requires controlling the speed of crane motion mechanisms to reduce the sway of a payload. Moreover, the anti-sway crane control scheme involves applying the adaptive techniques owing to the nonlinearities of a system that comes especially from stochastic variation of rope length on which a payload is suspended and mass of this payload. The paper provides the design method of an adaptive control system for a planar model of crane. The control system is based on the gain scheduling control scheme created using fuzzy logic controller with Takagi-Sugeno-Kang-type fuzzy implications. The design process of a gain scheduling control system consists in selecting such a suitable set of operating points at which the linear controllers are determined that interpolation control scheme ensures the expected control quality within the known range of nonlinear system parameters changes, when those parameters vary in relation to the exogenous variables: rope length and mass of a payload. The method that is proposed in this paper to solve the problem of designing the fuzzy gain scheduling crane control system for minimum set of operating points is based on the pole placement method and genetic algorithm.

Technological advancements within the educational sector and online learning promoted portable data-based adaptive techniques to influence the developments within transformative learning and enhancing the learning experience. However, many common adaptive educational systems tend to focus on adopting learning content that revolves around pre-black box learner modelling and teaching models that depend on the ideas of a few experts. Such views might be characterized by various sources of uncertainty about the learner response evaluation with adaptive educational system, linked to learner reception of instruction. High linguistic uncertainty levels in e-learning settings result in different user interpretations and responses to the same techniques, words, or terms according to their plans, cognition, pre-knowledge, and motivation levels. Hence, adaptive teaching models must be targeted to individual learners’ needs. Thus, developing a teaching model based on the knowledge of how learners interact with the learning environment in readable and interpretable white box models is critical in the guidance of the adaptation approach for learners’ needs as well as understanding the way learning is achieved. This paper presents a novel interval type-2 fuzzy logic-based system which is capable of identifying learners’ preferred learning strategies and knowledge delivery needs that revolves around characteristics of learners and the existing knowledge level in generating an adaptive learning environment. We have conducted a large scale evaluation of the proposed system via real-word experiments on 1458 students within a massively crowded e-learning platform. Such evaluations have shown the proposed interval type-2 fuzzy logic system’s capability of handling the encountered uncertainties which enabled to achieve superior performance with regard to better completion and success rates as well as enhanced learning compared to the non-adaptive systems, adaptive system versions led by the teacher, and type-1-based fuzzy based counterparts.

Artykuł dotyczy problemu automatycznego parkowania pojazdu oraz sterowania wykorzystującego zasady logiki rozmytej. Przedstawiono istotę zagadnienia i zastosowane uproszczenia. Opracowano model symulacyjny w programie MATLAB/Simulink i wizualizację procesu, pozwalające na przeprowadzenie eksperymentów dotyczących parkowania i sterowania rozmytego. Baza reguł sterownika logiki rozmytej została wygenerowana automatycznie na podstawie danych numerycznych w oparciu o algorytm Wang+. Przeprowadzono dodatkowe eksperymenty badające wpływ zmian w strukturze sterownika na jakość parkowania. Na podstawie tego sterownika zaprojektowano stanowisko laboratoryjne, wykorzystując zestaw LEGO Mindstorms.
The article concerns the automatic parking of a vehicle problem and control that uses fuzzy logic rules. It presents the essence of the issue and used simplifications. The simulation in MATLAB/Simulink program and visualization of the process were elaborated, allowing to execute experiments concerning parking and fuzzy control. Rule base of the fuzzy logic controller was automatically generated with numerical data, based on the Wang+ algorithm. Additional experiments were made to check influence of changing controller structure on parking quality. It is designed educational exercise, based on the controller and LEGO Mindstorms set.

Artykuł opisuje implementacje układu sterowania dżojstikiem typu haptic w sterowniku PLC. Do jego projektowania wykorzystano metody szybkiego prototypowania systemów sterowania - środowisko Matlab Simulink oraz narzędzie Automation Target for Simulink pakietu Automation Studio firmy Bernecker & Rainer [4]. Dzięki niemu możliwe stało się przeniesienie zaprojektowanego modelu sterowania bezpośrednio do sterownika PLC. W sterowniku nadrzędnym przebadano regulator proporcjonalny i rozmyty, porównując otrzymane wyniki. Sygnał sterujący, wypracowany w sterowniku PLC trafiał na sterowniki silników poszczególnych osi.
The article describes the implementation of a haptic joystick control in the PLC. Authors used the rapid prototyping methods in designed the control systems - Simulink Matlab environment and B&R Automation Simulink Target for Automation Studio tool. . The control signal which was generated in the PLC has been sent to the motor drivers hit of each axis. The primary driver was tested with fuzzy and proportional controller. The results has been compared. System was tested in the simulation and in the experimental researches.

The inherent characteristics of fuzzy logic theory make it suitable for fault detection and diagnosis (FDI). Fault detection can benefit from nonlinear fuzzy modeling and fault diagnosis can profit from a transparent reasoning system, which can embed operator experience, but also learn from experimental and/or simulation data. Thus, fuzzy logic-based diagnostic is advantageous since it allows the incorporation of a-priori knowledge and lets the user understand the inference of the system. In this paper, the successful use of a fuzzy FDI based system, based on dynamic fuzzy models for fault detection and diagnosis of an industrial two tank system is presented. The plant data is used for the design and validation of the fuzzy FDI system. The validation results show the effectiveness of this approach.

Operational control of welding quality is the fundamental element of the entire rail manufacturing process. In practice, real-time systems are used for this purpose. This article features a new method that makes use of fuzzy logic to analyze the data from mechanical tests and from the ultrasound inspection of connections.
Kontrola operacyjna jakości zgrzewania szyn jest zasadniczym elementem kontroli procesu całego procesu technologicznego produkcji szyn. W praktyce do tego celu stosowane są systemy działające w czasie rzeczywistym. W artykule zaproponowano nową metodę, która stosuje logikę rozmytą do analizowania danych pochodzących z testów mechanicznych połączeń oraz inspekcji ultradźwiękowej połączeń.

Measuring system design comprise the elaboration of the idea of measuring methods and systemic solutions and methods and algorithms of the signal processing and the control. One of the property of the measuring system is the characterization of the I/O type. It is shaped with the use of algorithms of the signal processing. This proposal of the use of the fuzzy inference of the characterization design in the paper is presented.

The article dwells upon possibilities of the implementation of smooth calculation methods for predicting the demand for passenger transportation. The developed model which is based on fuzzy logic successfully solves the problem with traffic assignment – formation of passenger throughput for each traffic route. The model of correspondence takes into account such defining factors as fare on the route, average headway on it and fullness of the vehicle saloon. Different combination of these factors forms attractiveness as a criterion of an optimal route for a prospective passenger. It is determined that the lower saloon fullness, transportation fare and headway, the higher attractiveness is. Using the reasoned criterion, it is possible to allocate the total number of prospective passengers according to each existing route.

The theoretical modeling is then followed by numerical examples. There is further extension of model toward assessment and comparison for enterprises of different size and various business branches.

W obecnych czasach wymagania stawiane sieciom TCP/IP zostały znacznie zróżnicowane poprzez aplikacje wymagające odmiennych poziomów usług sieciowych QoS (ang. Quality of Service). Dodatkowo, wzrastający udział transmisji czasu rzeczywistego RTP wymusza poszukiwanie nowych metod aktywnego zarządzania obsługą pakietów w węzłach sieci. Autor wskazuje możliwość wykorzystania logiki rozmytej w mechanizmach adaptacyjnych AQM (ang. Active Queueing Management), w celu poprawy wydajności układów zarządzania przepływem pakietów.
Active Queue Management (AQM) is the name given to router mechanisms used in congestion control. AQM mechanisms manage queue lengths by dropping (or marking) packets during building up congestion, that is, before the queue is full. End-systems can then react to such losses by reducing their packet rate, hence avoiding severe congestion. AQM mechanisms are also relevant in the context of DiffServ. The DiffServ architecture has been defined to provide IP networks with scalable quality of service (QoS) processing of traffic aggregates, based on a special field in the IP header. This paper presents new active queue management mechanisms to provide congestion control in TCP/IP best-effort networks. The author propose how to use fuzzy logic to better solve the drop tail problem in the basic AQM mechanism (REM) with one buffer and a server. The objective of the fuzzy controller is to determine the optimal admission policies so as to maximise the average profit (reward minus cost). The proposed fuzzy logic approach for congestion control allows using linguistic knowledge to capture the dynamics of nonlinear probability marking functions. In the introduction the author defines a structure of Supervisory Expert Control System [10, 12, 14] and the project aims illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3 [15]. In Section 3 the author presents implementation of a new algorithm FREM that uses a Fuzzy Logic Controller. The model of FREM algorithm [8] is shown in Fig. 5. In Section 5 the author shows the plan on future works: a project of the FLC controller and verification of the FREM algorithm performance. The paper presents the FREM algorithm with nonlinear probability marking functions. There is shown a conception of applying Supervisory Expert Control System to congestion control in TCP/IP networks. The author proposes how to ensure the adaptation ability of the REM algorithm. The presented solution requires an additional FLC supervisory module. The objective of fuzzy controller is to determine the optimal admission policies so as to maximise the average profit (reward minus cost). The proposed fuzzy logic approach to congestion control allows using linguistic knowledge to capture the dynamics of nonlinear probability marking functions.

Opis:
In general, this paper focuses on finding the best configuration for PSO and GA, using the different migration blocks, as well as the different sets of the fuzzy systems rules. To achieve this goal, two optimization algorithms were configured in parallel to be able to integrate a migration block that allow us to generate diversity within the subpopulations used in each algorithm, which are: the particle swarm optimization (PSO) and the genetic algorithm (GA). Dynamic parameter adjustment was also performed with a fuzzy system for the parameters within the PSO algorithm, which are the following: cognitive, social and inertial weight parameter. In the GA case, only the crossover parameter was modified.
