Opis:
This paper presents a new digital modulation recognition algorithm for classifying baseband signals in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise. Elaborated classification technique uses various statistical moments of the signal amplitude, phase and frequency applied to the fuzzy classifier. Classification results are given and it is found that the technique performs well at low SNR. The benefits of this technique are that it is simple to implement, has generalization property and requires no apriori knowledge of the SNR, carrier phase or baud rate of the signal for classification.

In the paper, using some MATLAB fuzzy logic toolbox Demos, in which the fuzzy controllers are compared with the classical PID ones, it is shown that the well tuned classical PID controllers are significantly better than those fuzzy presented in the Demos. It is shown, that using fuzzy approach, it is very difficult to shape the input-output nonlinearity, describing the so called fuzzy block of the fuzzy controller. It is also shown, that the linear fuzzy block (created to obtain comparable results with the classical PID controllers) is not justified at all, because it may be replaced by the usual summing junction, which is significantly simpler. The considerations of the paper do not support the idea of fuzzy controllers.

This paper presents certain important aspect soft he fuzzy logic extension, one of whichis OFN. It includes basic definition soft hat discipline. It also compares fuzzy logic arithmetic with the arithmetic of ordered fuzzy numbers in L-R notation. Computational experiments were based on fuzzy observation of the impounding basin. The results of the study show that there is a connection between the order of OFN number and trend of changes in the environment. The experiment was carried out using computer soft ware developed specially for that purpose.When comparing the arithmetic of fuzzy numbers in L-R notation with the arithmetic of ordered fuzzy number son the ground soft he experiment, it has been concluded that with fuzzy numbers it ispossible to expand the scope of solutions in comparison to fuzzy numbers inclassic form. The symbol of OFN flexibility is the possibility to determine the number that always satisfies the equation A+X=C, regardles soft hevalue of arguments. Operations performed on OFN are less complicated, as the yare performed in the same way regard less the sign of the input data and the irresults are more accuratein the majority of cases.The promising feature of ordered fuzzy numbers is their lack of rapidly growing fuzziness. Authors expect to see implication of that fact in practice in the near future.

The article introduces a new proposal of a def uzzification method, which can be implemented in fuzzy controllers. The first chapter refers to the origin of fuzzy sets. Next, a modern development based on this theory is presented in the form of ordered fuzzy numbers (OFN). The most important characteristics of ordered fuzzy numbers are also presented. In the following chapter, details about the defuzzification process are given as part of the fuzzy controller model. Then a new method of defuzzification is presented. The method is named center of circles intersection (CCI). The authors compare this method with a similar geometric solution: triangular expanding (TE) and geometric mean (GM). Also, the results are compared with other methods such as center of gravity (COG), first of maxima (FOM) and last of maxima (LOM). The analysis shows that the proposed solution works correctly and provides results for traditional fuzzy numbers as well as directed fuzzy numbers. The last chapter contains a summary, in which more detailed conclusions are provided and further directions of research are indicated.

Zastosowanie regulatora rozmytego (FLC) poprawiło dymanikę i dokładność pozycjonowania serwonapędu pneumatycznego oraz wyeliminowało zakłócenia w jego układzie regulacji. W procesie przetwarzania rozmytego zastosowano wyznaczanie poziomu zapłonu typu min, implikacji typu min oraz agregacji poszczególnych wyjść reguły typu max. W celu uzyskania ostrej wartości wyjścia zastosowano metodę środka obszaru COA. Analizowano przebiegi procesu regulacji rozmytej serwonapędu pneumatycznego z regulacją przestawną, regulacją nadążną oraz regulacją kontroli trajektorii ruchu. Badania wykazały, że logika rozmyta może być stosowana w regulacji serwopneumatycznych manipulatorów o różnej strukturze kinematycznej. Przedstawione badania sa podstawą do zastosowania logiki rozmytej w regulacji pneumatycznego manipulatora równoległego typu tripod.
Application of fuzzy logic controller (FLC) improved dynamics and positioning accuracy of pneumatic servo-drive and eliminated disturbances in its control system. In fuzzyfication process conditionally firing rules of type min, implication operator of type min and aggregation of output rules of type max were employed. To obtain fuzzy output value the center of area function (COA) was used. Transpose control, follow-up control and trajectory motion control of pneumatic servo-drive with different input signals were carried out. The research proves applicability of fuzzy logic in control of servo-pneumatic manipulators with different kinematic chain structure. On the basis of the research the control of pneumatic tripod parallel manipulator using fuzzy logic can be established.

In the paper presented is a method of designing a fuzzy-logic-based autopilot for control of horizontal motion of an unmanned underwater vehicle. The control system’s synthesis was performed under the assumption that the vehicle can move with variable linear and angular velocities and the quantities possible to be measured are: position and orientaŹtion of the vehicle in the inertial reference system. The task of the autopilot was to minimiŹze the mean squares of deviations from the motion trajectory given in the form of a broken line defined by the coordinates of successive turning points. To generate control signals three independent fuzzy PD controllers using the control principles based on the Mac Vicar-Whelan’s standard base, were applied. For the linguistic variables of each controller appropriate fuzzy sets were selected and linear membership functions of trapezoidal and triangular form were defined. The presented results of the simulation tests performed for the remotely operated underwater vehicle "Ukwiał", with and without influence of disturbances resulting from sea current, confirm the proposed approach to be correct and effective.

This paper presents a fuzzy logic-based, service differentiated, QoS aware routing protocol (FMSR) offering multipath routing for WSNs, with the purpose of providing a service differentiated path meant for communication between nodes, based on actual requirements. The proposed protocol initially forms a cluster by fuzzy c-means. Next, the building of a routing follows, so as to establish multiple paths between nodes through the modified QoS k-nearest neighborhood, based on different QoS constraints and on optimum shortest paths. If one node in the path fails due to lack of residual energy, bandwidth, packet loss, delay, an alternate path leading through another neighborhood node is selected for communication. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol performs better in terms of packet delivery ratio, delay, packet drop ratio and throughput compared to other existing routing protocols.

In complex socio-technical systems there is an influence of safe unwanted events on the occurrence of accidents. It is like domino bricks. Therefore, it is not only the recovery from major events that is important, but also the recovery from disruptions in operation. As the literature review shows, the recovery of operation processes is analysed by single criterions for small disruptions. On the other hand, resilience research is focused on the network and major events, but not on frequent small-consequence events that affect operational processes. The performance of a system is a key parameter when evaluating resilience. As a result of the performed literature survey, the aim of the paper was to propose a new method for evaluating performance in terms of operational processes and resilience analysis. Moreover, it is also important to order the most important terms related to this issue, as well as to introduce new types of qualities, which are not only focused on the system, but also on the implemented operational processes. The paper consists of eight sections. The introduction section describes generally the problem, that leads to formulation of the aim of the paper and description of its structure. It is followed by the second section consisting of a complex literature survey. Section three orders the reliability, robustness and resilience definitions. Section four analyses the performance influencing factors using Fault and Event Tree Analysis, while section five defines the operational layer of the system and shows a formal description of operation processes. Section six presents the operation process evaluation model. It was elaborated using the Fuzzy Logic approach, that allows combining of incoherent system and process qualities: punctuality, probability no further delays, quantitative implementation of scheduled processes, reconfiguration level. Afterwards a case study is shown to present the method application. The performed case study shows the advantages of the proposed approach, which is related to the most common methods. The paper ends with conclusions and further research perspectives.

Water supply network is an essential element of urban water supply systems. The operation of a water supply system is inseparably connected with a risk of failure. The main problem in the risk of failure analysis of water mains is the uncertainty of the information collected on the description of failure. In order to consider the uncertainty of information, the theory of fuzzy sets was used. The fuzzification of frequency, severity and the consequences of the incident scenario is basic input for fuzzy risk analysis. The presented model is part of a complex model of risk management of failures in water mains and can be used in practice in system operator’s decision-making process. An adaptation of the fuzzy set theory to analyse risk of failure of water mains is not a standard approach. An effect of the analysis of different sources of risk can be used for the design of a more reliable safety system assurance.

W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję laboratoryjnego systemu wentylacji zrealizowanego w celach dydaktycznych. Zaprojektowane stanowisko pozwala zaznajomić się z zasadą działania falownika napięcia PWM oraz środowiska LabVIEW, jako tzw. komputerowego systemu szybkiego prototypowania. W środowisku LabVIEW zaimplementowano opcję automatycznego sterowania systemem poprzez wykorzystanie regulatora rozmytego. Ponadto umożliwiając również, w celach dydaktycznych, modyfikowanie jego ustawień przez m.in. dobór funkcji przynależności, bazy reguł rozmytych, czy metody wyostrzania.
The laboratory ventilation system (Fig. 1) presented in the paper is intended mainly for didactic purposes. One of the main advantages of the ventilation system is the ability to control mode selection – basic mode and extended mode. Availability of function blocks (Fig. 2) depends on the control mode. In the basic mode, only a speed control unit (Fig. 5) is available. Dynamic progress of power electronics has led to a change in the construction of drives with variable speed [1]. This function block uses a PWM inverter for air flow rate control. The PWM inverter supply 3-phase induction motor is currently the most popular solution for the drive system with variable speed [2]. In the extended mode, there are additionally available a heating control unit and a master control unit. The system uses a resistive heater. Its control (Fig. 7) is based on the group control method. One of the options in this mode is the ability of automatic adjustment using a fuzzy logic controller (Fig. 8). Fuzzy logic uses the knowledge base in the form of fuzzy rules of conditional if-then [3]. In this system, controller settings can be properly modified by the change of membership functions (Figs. 9, 10, 11), base of fuzzy rules (Tab. 1), or the method of defuzzification. In the extended mode, all control is made using a computer with LabVIEW software. The test results for the automatic adjustment proved the correctness of the system.

The paper presents the design and implementation of a digital rule-relational fuzzy logic controller. Classical and decomposed logical structures of fuzzy systems are discussed. The second allows a decrease in the hardware cost of the fuzzy system and in the computing time of the final result (fuzzy or crisp), especially when referring to relational systems. The physical architecture consists of IP modules implemented in an FPGA structure. The modules can be inserted into or removed from the project to get a desirable fuzzy logic controller configuration. The fuzzy inference system implemented in FPGA can operate with a much higher performance than software implementations on standard microcontrollers.

In many situations, the model of the transportation network contains a very large number of nodes, so the algorithms operating on such a model may be too time-consuming. Therefore there is a need to simplify the model by reducing the number of nodes. The simplest approach using the physical neighbourhood of the nodes and then aggregation of nearby nodes may be insufficient, because it does not take into account the different roles played by the nodes subject to the merger. Some of them have local significance and can be aggregated without disturbing the traffic flows across the whole network. For other nodes traffic flows associated with geographically distant nodes can be much larger than the local flows. Nodes of this kind should not be aggregated with their neighbours. This paper presents an algorithm for grouping the transportation network nodes using fuzzy logic, which processes the qualitative characteristics of nodes.

We describe in this paper the combination of soft computing techniques and fractal theory for achieving intelligent manufacturing. Soft computing techniques can be used to develop hybrid intelligent systems. Fractal theory can be used to analyze the geometrical complexity of natural and artificial objects. The careful combination of soft computing and fractal theory can provide us with a good mix of intelligent techniques and fractal mathematical tools, which can help in achieving automation of manufacturing processes. We consider in this paper several manufacturing and automation problems that are efficiently solved with the proposed approach.

This paper describes a modular neural network (MNN) with fuzzy integration for the problem of signature recognition. Currently, biometric identification has gained a great deal of research interest within the pattern recognition community. For instance, many attempts have been made in order to automate the process of identifying a person’s handwritten signature; however this problem has proven to be a very difficult task. In this work, we propose a MNN that has three separate modules, each using different image features as input, these are: edges, wavelet coefficients, and the Hough transform matrix. Then, the outputs from each of these modules are combined using a Sugeno fuzzy integral and a fuzzy inference system. The experimental results obtained using a database of 30 individual’s shows that the modular architecture can achieve a very high 99.33% recognition accuracy with a test set of 150 images. Therefore, we conclude that the proposed architecture provides a suitable platform to build a signature recognition system. Furthermore we consider the verification of signatures as false acceptance, false rejection and error recognition of the MNN.

The paper presents a new approach to reliability and functional analysis of sophisticated complex systems using fuzzy logic. We propose to use such methodology since dependability parameters of the system are mostly approximated by experts instead of classical sources of data. Presented approach show different idea – modeling system using the unified structure – in functional sense. We assess the reliability of the system by accumulated down time. Fuzzy logic based reliability analysis, as well as Computer Information System and Discrete Transport System modeling and simulation are presented. Moreover, results of numerical experiment performed on a test case scenario related to the economic and functional aspects using proposed methodology are given. Fuzzy approach allows reducing the problem of assumptions of reliability distributions and – this way – seems to be very interesting for real systems management and tuning.

Opis:
Issues related to the automatic selection of the PID controller settings have been known for several years. This article describes the concept of self-tuning using fuzzy logic block (FLB). The FLB represents expert knowledge and in the process serves as the master. It describes the advantages of the designed structure of fuzzy logic simulation system application. The paper contains block diagram descriptions of designed controller and control loop. The designed tuning algorithm bases on quality indicators and rule bases which was described as membership functions. The readjustment of the controller settings takes place in subsequent iterations of the tuning process. Simulation tests result of the proposed tuning system topology were presented. As the simulation environment was used Matlab Simulink.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest omówienie zaproponowanego algorytmu do identyfikacji obwiedni izotopowych, opartego na teorii systemów rozmytych. Obecnie proteomika jest ściśle powiązana z chorobami nowotworowymi. Dlatego też bardzo ważne jest precyzyjne zidentyfikowanie białek znajdujących się w obszarze raka; stosowana jest w tym celu spektrometria masowa. Jedną z technik spektrometrii masowej jest MALDI. Otrzymane dane będące widmem masowym składają się ze stosunku masy do ładunku jonów oraz intensywnosci pików. W celu przetworzenia danych, usunięcia szumu, linii bazowej etc. stosuje się przetwarzanie wstępne. Identyfikacja obwiedni izotopowych jest częścią procesu przetwarzania wstępnego w proteomice. Polega ona na identyfikacji izotopów wchodzących w skład obwiedni izotopowej, a także pozwala na zredukowanie wymiaru danych. Istnieje wiele algorytmów do identyfikacji obwiedni izotopowej, jednak każdy z nich dedykowany jest dla innego rodzaju techniki spektrometrii masowej (MALDI, LC-MS, ESI, etc.) bądź dla konkretnego rodzaju cząsteczek. Dlatego też zaproponowany algorytm został oparty na teorii systemów rozmytych, a reguły wnioskowania zostały oparte na wieloletnich doświadczeniach eksperta w dziedzinie spektrometrii masowej. Przetestowany był on na danych uzyskanych z Instytutu Onkologii im. Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie w Gliwicach, pochodzących z badań nad rakiem głowy i szyi dla losowo wybranej grupy peptydów i lipidów. Wyniki autorskiego algorytmu do identyfikacji obwiedni izotopowych porównano z jedną z istniejących metod do identyfikacji obwiedni izotopowych.
Nowadays, mass spectrometry is widely used in proteomics for confident and precise identification of the protein. One of the most important steps in the signal analysis is deisotoping because some peaks in the spectrum are not the unique compound, but there are members of an isotopic envelope. Although the mass spectrometry is present in proteomics for a long time already, the problem of isotope peaks identification is not solved yet. The existing algorithms, usually designed for the particular type of spectrometer, are semi-supervised and do not give satisfactory results. We propose a new algorithm based on fuzzy inference systems that can accurately identify the isotopic envelopes in the spectrum of the complex structure.

The crime rates in Mexico have been increasing in recent years; every day, there are reports on social media and in the news where assaults and verbal aggression by criminals can be seen. Public transportation units suffer from violence that authorities have not been able to reduce despite their efforts. This is why we have developed a fuzzy logic model that can adapt to almost any scenario thanks to the dynamism that we have implemented in each of its stages. We have obtained promising results that we believe will be of great help to the authorities for detecting the exact moment in which verbal aggression that is typical of a violent assault is happening in real time. This is a tool to help the authorities, not a substitution; we are simply making use of the latest technologies that are available to us. The goal of this paper is to provide a novel method for Mexican authorities in Mexico City in order to help the actual surveillance systems make faster decisions about whether violent assaults are happening or not.

Opis:
A calculation model of teaching costs in a university is a system of guidelines, notions and relations to facilitate an assessment of the costs generated by individual university departments, majors, subjects etc. The existing calculation models based on the assessment of costs with the use of precision data prove to be ineffective in practice. The major drawback of these systems is the fact that it is not possible to take into account non-precision data in relation to cost generating factors (e.g. the number of didactic groups, hourly rates etc.). This article presents the author’s own proposal of a cost calculation model based on the formalism of fuzzy logics (with the use of the L-R representation). On the basis of the model proposed, it is possible to assess the costs of an academic subject with imprecise information concerning cost generating factors, or the values of those factors are assessed which imply the values set of the cost of a subject.

The purpose of this paper is to present a novel mechatronic system for gait re-education which consists of a body weight support system (BWS system) and a treadmill. This publication covers mainly issues related to the design and optimization process of a control algorithm dedicated for the unloading system. The proposed control system is based on a fuzzy logic controller coupled with a PID regulator. The optimization of parameters for regulators has been conducted based on numerical simulations in which a hybrid optimization method combining a genetic algorithm with a gradient algorithm has been used. The developed control system has been tested experimentally.

This paper proposed a sensor based navigation method with a fuzzy combiner for navigation of a mobile robot in uncertain environments. We discuss a fuzzy approach to path design and control of simple individual behaviours of a wheeled mobile robot in an unknown 2D environment with static obstacles. A strategy of reactive navigation is developed including three main behaviours: reaching the middle of a collision-free space behaviour, goal-seeking behaviour and wall-following behaviour. These simple individual behaviours are achieved by means of fuzzy inference systems. It is assumed that each low-level behaviour has been well developed at the design stage and then fused by the fuzzy combiner of behaviours to determine proper actions acting on the environment at the running stage. The fuzzy combiner can fuse low-level behaviours so that the mobile robot can go for the goal position without colliding with obstacles. The fuzzy combiner is a soft switch that chooses more than one low-level action to be active with different degrees through fuzzy combination at each time step. The output of the navigation level is fed into a fuzzy tracking controller that takes into account the dynamics of the mobile robot. A computer simulation have been conducted to illustrate the performance of these proposed fuzzy combiner of behaviours by a series of experiments on an emulator of the wheeled mobile robot Pioneer-2DX.
W pracy analizuje się zagadnienie nawigacji odruchowej mobilnego robota kołowego w nieznanym otoczeniu. Przedstawiono rozmyte podejście do projektowania trajektorii ruchu i sterowania prostych indywidualnych zachowań mobilnego robota kołowego w nieznanym środowisku dwuwymiarowym ze statycznymi przeszkodami. Stategię odruchowej nawigacji zastosowano do realizacji trzech elementarnych zachowań: osiągnij środek wolnej przestrzeni, idź do celu, podążaj przy ścianie. Powyższe elementarne zachowania zrealizowano stosując układy z logiką rozmytą. Zakłada się że każde z elementarnych zachowań realizowane przez niższy poziom sterowania jest poprawnie zaprojektowane, a ich koordynacja odbywa się na wyższym poziomie hierarchii sterowania przez rozmyty układ koordynacyjny, którego zadaniem jest wygenerowanie właściwych sterowań umożliwiających realizację zadania nawigacji. Rozmyty układ koordynacji elementarnych zachowań łączy te zachowania generując zadaną trajektorię ruchu wybranego punktu mobilnego robota kołowego. Trajektoria ta jest realizowana przez układ niskiego poziomu sterowania ruchem nadążnym mobilnego robota kołowego uwzględniającym dynamikę obiektu sterowania. W celu weryfikacji zaproponowanego rozwiązania przeprowadzono symulacje komputerowe na emulatorze mobilnego robota Pionner-2DX.

The article presents the concept of automated final process of aircraft taxiing to the gate at the terminal. On the basis of an analysis of the possibilities of aircraft taxiing in civil airports, the authors attempted at optimizing this process. The main objective of the project is to reduce the taxiing time, consequently reducing fuel consumption as well as the rotation time. As a result of the work, the authors designed a controller based on fuzzy logic, which, depending on the initial parameters, calculates the set values for the execution system of aircraft control in the horizontal plane and for the taxi speed. The controller receives two input signals, which determine two output signals. The designed controller allows comprehensive and fully automated aircraft steering. The project relies on data with regard to the apron class D, suited to handle aircraft with a wingspan of up to 52 m and the characteristics of a Boeing 767-200 in speed taxiing and the maximum turn of the nose gear. The measurements of the apron have been adopted in accordance with international regulations in the ICAO DOC 9157 “Aerodrome Design Manual”. The maximum deviation of the nose gear from the centre line was assumed 2.5 m in each direction and a safe distance behind the immobile aircraft equal to 25 m. The length of the Boeing aircraft 767-200 is below 48 m, therefore the input boundary parameters are equal to +/- 2.5 m from the centre line and 80 m from the designated aircraft stand (nose gear). The article presents the project of the controller and its optimization. The authors simulated the controller operation in the package MATLAB “Simulink”. The article ends with data analysis and final conclusions.

This article presents a methodological proposal for implementing interval type-2 fuzzy processors over digital signal controller technology. We describe the main considerations that a practitioner or an engineer should follow when implementing an interval type-2 fuzzy system over an embedded processor. These considerations guide the implementation study of eight interval type-2 fuzzy processors, which are fully characterized and tested. Results show that by combining fast computing strategies and technologies like digital signal controllers, the inference time of an embedded type-2 fuzzy processor can be set to hundreds of microseconds.

Opis:
The most popular control algorithm in attitude stabilization of multirotor aerial vehicles is a PID controller. It is used so frequently because of low computational requirements and simplicity of implementation and tuning. However, there are many other control algorithms suitable for this task, for example fuzzy logic or neural networks controllers. These algorithms are more complex than PID, but with appropriate knowledge and hardware it is possible to implement them in the on-board controller. This paper presents the comparison of the mentioned algorithms during simulation experiments. The construction process of a micro multirotor flying platform NeuroQuad and the implementation of the tested algorithms on this platform are described.

In this work the optimization process of the tracking and reactive controllers for a mobile robot are presented. The Chemical Reaction Algorithm (CRA) is used to find the optimal parameter values of the membership functions and rules for the reactive and tracking controllers. In this case, we are using five membership functions in each variable of the fuzzy controllers. The main goal of the reactive controller is aimed at providing the robot with the ability to avoid obstacles in its environment. The tests are performed on a benchmark maze problem, in which the goal is not necessarily to leave the maze, but rather that the robot avoids obstacles, in this case the walls, and penalizing for unwanted trajectories, such as cycles. The tracking controller’s goal is for the robot to keep into to a certain path, this in order that the robot can learn to react to unknown environments. The optimization algorithm that was used is based on an abstraction of chemical reactions. To perform the simulation we use the “SimRobot” toolbox, the results of the tests are presented in a detailed fashion, and at the end we are presenting a comparison of results among the CRA, PSO and GA methods.

Opis:
Mobile adhoc network is self-configurable and adaptive. Due to node mobility we cannot predict load on the network which leads to congestion, one of the widely researched area in manets. A lot of congestion control techniques and metrics have been proposed to overcome it before its occurrence or after it has occurred. In this survey we identify the currently used congestion control metrics. Through this survey we also propose a congestion control metric RFR(resource free ratio) which considers three most important parameters to provide congestion free route discovery. Further we show the results of node selection based on fuzzy logic calculations using the proposed metric.

Nowadays, applied computer-oriented and information digitalization technologies are developing very dynamically and are widely used in various industries. One of the highest priority sectors of the economy of Ukraine and other countries around the world, the needs of which require intensive implementation of high-performance information technologies, is agriculture. The purpose of the article is to synthesise scientific and practical provisions to improve the information technology of the comprehensive monitoring and control of microclimate in industrial greenhouses. The object of research is nonstationary processes of aggregation and transformation of measurement data on soil and climatic conditions of the greenhouse microclimate. The subject of research is methods and models of computer-oriented analysis of measurement data on the soil and climatic state of the greenhouse microclimate. The main scientific and practical effect of the article is the development of the theory of intelligent information technologies for monitoring and control of greenhouse microclimate through the development of methods and models of distributed aggregation and intellectualised transformation of measurement data based on fuzzy logic.

This study assessed the spatio-temporal changes in corn climatic suitability in the Philippines under futureclimate condition. Using extracted climatic data from WorldClim database for the country under baseline and futureclimate condition, changes in corn suitability was assessed using fuzzy logic approach and published rainfall andtemperature requirement of the crop. Based on the data, the large portion of the country will experience increase inmonthly total rainfall (88%) while increase in monthly mean and minimum temperature under future climate conditionis projected for the entire country. These increases in rainfall and temperature resulted in changes of corn climaticsuitability in the country depending on the month and location. On the average, changes in rainfall resulted in reduction(8%) and improvement (6%) in corn suitability while increase in temperature resulted in 5% and 0.4% reductionand improvement, respectively.

Cloud promises for easiness and reduced expense to service providers and consumers. However, a lack of trust between these two stakeholders has hindered the universal accep¬tance of cloud for outsourced services. In this paper, a fuzzy based trust management system is proposed to facilitate cloud consumers in identifying trustworthy providers. The performance of the proposed system is validated through a simulation using CloudAnalyst and Simulink.

The aim of this paper is to present the concept of the supply chain resilience assessment in the case of disruptive events occurrence. Firstly, the methods for modelling uncertainty in terms of their application to assess this type of risk will be discussed, and then the concept of a fuzzy logic expert model enabling a quantitative assessment of supply chain resilience will be presented. Finally the structure of the simulation model has been proposed, which consists of the partial resilience models, namely: security, survivability and recovery ones. In the course of the simulation process, it is possible to identify the rules involved in system output as well as changes in resilience level which account for changes in inputs values.

This paper presents the study and implementation of a new vector control strategy using a hybrid control technique applied to the mechanical position loop aiming to obtain a system that acts in the fractional horsepower motor driver running at near zero frequency. For this purpose, some control techniques are employed to check which one has the best performance regarding this type of application. The use of three control techniques is considered: the Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller with fixed gain; the Generalized Predictive Control (GPC) controller; and a hybrid controller. The last one behaves as both PID and GPC using fuzzy logic in order to achieve improved system performance. Simulation and experimental results are shown and discussed to demonstrate the merits of the proposed approach.

This paper presents the optimized fuzzy logic controller (FLC) with on-line tuning of scaling factors for vibration control of thin-walled composite beams. In order to improve the performances and robustness properties of FLC, the proposed method adjusts the input scaling factors via peak observer. The membership functions of the proposed FLC are optimized using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The composite beam is modeled by the third-order shear deformation theory (TSDT) and discretized by using the finite element method. Several numerical examples are provided for the cantilever composite beam under a periodic excitation and periodic excitation with an unexpected disturbance. In order to present the efficiency of the proposed controller, the obtained results are compared with the corresponding results in the cases of the optimized FLCs with constant scaling factors and LQR optimal control strategy.
W pracy zaprezentowano zoptymalizowany sterownik z logiką rozmytą (FLC) o bieżąco dostrajanych współczynnikach skalowania zastosowany do redukcji drgań cienkościennych belek kompozytowych. Dla poprawy efektywności i stabilności pracy sterownika zaproponowano dostrajanie współczynników skalowania na wejściu poprzez śledzenie wartości szczytowej sygnału. Funkcje przynależności sterownika FLC zoptymalizowano algorytmem roju cząstek (PSO). Rozważaną belkę kompozytową opisano modelem teorii odkształceń postaciowych trzeciego rzędu (TSDT) i zdyskretyzowano metodą elementów skończonych. Przedstawiono kilka przykładów belki wspornikowej poddanej wymuszeniu okresowemu z nieoczekiwanym zakłóceniem tego wymuszenia. W celu zeprezentowania efektywności analizowanego sterownika uzyskane wyniki porównano z istniejącymi rezultatami odpowiadającymi sterownikom FLC o stałych współczynnikach skalowania i zoptymalizowanej strategii sterowania wykorzystującej regulator liniowo-kwadratowy (LQR).

Fuzzy logic has been used in different research fields for more than three decades. It has become a robust method to solve complex and intricate problems which are otherwise difficult to solve by traditional methods. But it still requires some human experience and knowledge. In the present study, an attempt is made to design a hybrid optimization technique for automatic formation of the fuzzy knowledge based rules using an evolutionary algorithm. This hybridization technique has been applied in the field of damage detection and location of cracks in cracked structural elements. In this paper, a robust fault diagnostic tool based on a differential evolution algorithm and fuzzy logic has been proposed. Theoretical and Finite Element analyzes are done to model the crack and to find the effect of the presence of cracks on changes of vibrational characteristic (natural frequencies) of a fixed-fixed beam. The inputs to DEA-FL system are the first three relative natural frequencies, and the outputs from the system are the relative crack depth and relative crack location. For the validation of the results obtained from the proposed method and to check the robustness of the controller, experimental analysis is performed. To find average error rates, the bootstrap method has been adopted.

Many authors have highlighted the importance of physical assets maintenance management in relation to resilience engineering, especially for systems operating under significant uncertainty. Thus, the authors presented a new approach to system maintenance based on resilience concept implementation. They introduced Maintenance Support Potentials (MSP) as a measure of an organization's maintenance support capacity. Moreover, based on the MSP definition, they developed a fuzzy-based organization's maintenance support potential level assessment method. The proposed approach takes into account two main MSP parameters – potential readiness level and process regency. It followed four main steps, including organization's MSP identification/evaluation, MSP weights assessment, Maintenance Support Capacity assessment, and final reasoning. A case study of a global manufacturer from the automotive industry is presented to illustrate the method's applicability. The authors also indicated further research directions to optimize the maintenance strategy based on Resilience-Based Maintenance concept.

Fuzzy logic determination of the material hardening parameters based on the Heyer’s method was applied in this research. As the fuzzy input variables, the length of two measuring bases and the maximum force registered in the Heyer's test were used. Firstly, the numerical experiment (the simulation of the fuzzification of the input data) with the assumed disturbance of input variables was performed. Next, on the basis of experimental investigations (eleven samples made from the same material), the membership functions associated with the input data were created. After that, the fuzzy analysis was examined. Fuzzy material hardening constants obtained by means of the α-level optimization and the extension principle methods were compared. Discrete values of the hardening data are found in the defuzzification process, by application of the mass center method.

This work proposes a software environment implementing a methodology for acquiring and exploiting the collective perception (CP) of Points of Interests (POIs) in a Smart City, which is meant to support decision makers in urban planning and management. This environment relies upon semantic knowledge discovery techniques and fuzzy computational approaches, including natural language processing, sentiment analysis, POI signatures and Fuzzy Cognitive Maps, turning them into a cohesive architectural blend in order to effectively gather the realistic perception of a user community towards given areas and attractions of a Smart City. The environment has been put to the test via a thorough experimentation against a massive user base of an online community with respect to a large metropolitan city (the City of Naples). Such an experimentation yielded consistent results, useful for providing decision makers with a clear awareness of the positive as well as critical aspects of urban areas, and thus helping them shape the measures to be taken for an improved city management and development.
