Opis:
Taking as the starting point a recently suggested reaction scheme for zymogen activation involving intra- and intermolecular routes and the enzyme-zymogen complex, we carry out a complete analysis of the relative contribution of both routes in the process. This analysis suggests the definition of new dimensionless parameters allowing the elaboration, from the values of the rate constants and initial conditions, of the time course of the contribution of the two routes. The procedure mentioned above related to a concrete reaction scheme is extrapolated to any other model of autocatalytic zymogen activation involving intra- and intermolecular routes. Finally, we discuss the contribution of both of the activating routes in pepsinogen activation into pepsin using the values of the kinetic parameters given in the literature.

So far, azide has been consistently reported to act as an inhibitor of metal enzymes, especially copper proteins. The present work shows that azide can also act as an activator of polyphenol oxidase II (PPO II) from tobacco leaves. From0 the square-wave voltammetry of native PPO II, peroxide-PPO II complex and azide-PPO II complex, the reduction of nitro blue tetrazolium by the enzymes and activation of PPO II by peroxide it follows that the binding of azide to PPO II induces the formation of CuO(2)(2-)Cu in the active site of PPO II from CuO(2)(-)Cu in native PPO II. The reason for azide acting as an activator can be attributed to azide complexing with PPO II, thus inducing the formation of CuO(2)(2-)Cu, which is the active site of the peroxide-PPO II complex in which peroxide plays the role of activator.

Opis:
The neutron emission rate is a crucial parameter for most of the radiation sources that emit neutrons. In the case of large fusion devices the determination of this parameter is necessary for a proper assessment of the power release and the prediction for the neutron budget. The 14 MeV neutron generator will be used for calibration of neutron diagnostics at JET and ITER facilities. The stability of the neutron generator working parameters like emission and angular homogeneity affects the accuracy of calibration other neutron diagnostics. The aim of our experiment was to confi rm the usefulness of yttrium activation method for monitoring of the neutron generator SODERN Model: GENIE 16. The reaction rate induced by neutrons inside the yttrium sample was indirectly measured by activation of the yttrium sample, and then by means of the γ-spectrometry method. The pre-calibrated HPGe detector was used to determine the yttrium radioactivity. The emissivity of neutron generator calculated on the basis of the measured radioactivity was compared with the value resulting from its electrical settings, and both of these values were found to be consistent. This allowed for a positive verifi cation of the reaction cross section that was used to determine the reaction rate (6.45 × 10–21 reactions per second) and the neutron emission rate (1.04 × 108 n·s–1). Our study confi rms usefulness of the yttrium activation method for monitoring of the neutron generator.

The article presents the results of research on the implementation of innovative social investments at the local level based on the case study Assistance from A to Z – Professional activation of homeless people from Wroclaw Circle St. Brother Albert Aid Society. The aim is to analyse the possibilities of applying innovative and investment solutions in the area of social and professional activation of people threatened by social exclusion, especially the homeless. The author uses the case study method and the method of desk research, in which the analysis of the strategy documents, source materials and acts was carried out. The analysis of the Assistance from A to Z project showed that applied in the project forms of support brought satisfactory results in the field of social and professional activation of the homeless, brought social and economic benefits and thus the project can be seen as a social investment.

Podstawowym celem artykułu jest określenie użyteczności koncepcji rządzenia (governance) dla analizy programów aktywnej polityki społecznej (APS). W opracowaniu wykazano, że governance jest szeroka perspektywą badawczą, która pozwala na wielowymiarowe badania empiryczne. Rządzenie jest właściwą kategoria do analizowania funkcjonowania podmiotów polityki społecznej odpowiedzialnych za programy aktywnej polityki społecznej. Podstawową zaletą governance jest aktualność tego podejścia, którą dobrze oddaje hasło „rządzenia bez rządu” w ramach powiązań sieciowych i z wykorzystaniem szerokie spektrum instrumentów współczesnego zarządzania.
The main objective of this paper is to discuss a general concept of governance for the analysis of active social policy programs (APS). The study shows that governance is a broad prospect research, which allows for multi-dimensional empirical studies. Governance is the right category to analyze the functioning of bodies responsible for social policy programs of an active social policy. The main advantage of governance is the relevance of this approach, which is well illustrated by the slogan “governance without government” in the network connections and using a wide range of contemporary management instruments.

Growth kinetics of boride layers in AISI H13 steel was investigated using the pack boriding method at temperatures of 1073, 1173 and 1273 K (800°C, 900°C and 1000°C) for periods of 2, 4 and 6 h with nano-sized boron (NB) and micron-sized Ekabor II powders as boriding agents. The total thickness of the boride layer (including both FeB and Fe2B) after boriding at 1273 K (1000°C) for 6 h was 103.8 μm and 96.5 μm for the NB and Ekabor II specimens, respectively. X-ray diffraction analysis of the boride layers on the surfaces borided with NB and Ekabor II revealed the presence of FeB and Fe2B phases with sawtooth morphology. The FeB/Fe2B volume ratio was higher in the specimens borided with NB. The thickness of the boride layer (FeB + Fe2B) increased with the increasing boriding temperature and time. The FeB layer in the NB specimen displayed a (002) preferred orientation.

Cu2+ and Pb2+ are widely used as activators for the flotation of stibnite. In this work, by the treatment of Cu2+ or Pb2+, the activation product and the thickness of activation layer on the stibnite surface were both investigated. Based on the flotation results, zeta potential analysis and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) study, it was found that Cu2+ was reduced to Cu+ at the stibnite surface and a layer of Cu2S was formed at the surface. While, a PbS layer presenting at the stibnite surface is responsible for the activation flotation of stibnite with Pb2+. Time of flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS) analysis further implies that, when stibnite was activated with 5×10-5 mol/dm3 of CuSO4 or Pb(NO3)2, the thickness of Cu2S layer on the Cu-activated surface was close to 2.7 nm, while the thickness of PbS layer was about 1.8 nm on the Pb-activated surface.

Activation and grassroots initiative of inhabitants are components of social change affecting local development. It is here that ideas materialise through the actions of individuals. It is assumed that development always exists in an active relation to social and cultural change, involving human, financial, environmental and infrastructural resources. It includes primarily community interactions of individuals in the process of activation for the local environment. The study assumed the hypothesis that activation and grass-roots initiative have a significant impact on local development of auxiliary units. The management of local affairs is based on the assumption that inhabitants of a certain area constitute a community aware of their needs and objectives, able to manage their own affairs independently. Activation and development of the community is defined as a collective undertaking, which requires, among other things, emotional commitment and effort of residents. It is a process that follows the steps of planned operation which involves preparing the action programme, establishing the aim, and setting ways to its implementation. At the same time there must be determined a method which will allow to achieve the intended effectiveness of the undertaking. Comprehensive understanding of activation and grassroots initiative indicates the role of development planning, strategy, and the importance of citizen participation in building a better future for their own socio-cultural environment. Activation within the meaning of citizen activation is associated with the search for independence and identification with the community and place as a “little homeland.”

The application of a Fast Neutron Activation Analysis (FNAA) technique on samples of pure gold, irradiated by a plasma focus of 7 kJ, has been investigated. The reaction was the inelastic scattering of neutrons, 197Au(n,n'gamma)197Aum. To avoid problems connected with peculiar features of the neutron emission from this kind of source, a preliminary standardisation of the method has been carried out. The results obtained have a practical interest in view of possible applications to the technology of extraction of minerals.

Opis:
A way of use of shape memory alloy (SMA) fibers for dynamics response modification of laminated beams is presented in the paper. The considered concept of adaptive control is based on the ability to change the Young modulus during a temperature activated, reversible, martenstic transition that is specific to SMAs. It is assumed that the laminate is midplane symmetric and the corresponding layers of the same fiber orientation are activated simultaneously, and the SMA fibers can freely elongate in the matrix. A cantilever laminated beam with mass distributed on its free edge is subject to numerical analysis. Due to the quasi-steady one-dimensional model of heat conduction, martensite fraction and natural frequency time relations for the phase transition of SMA have been obtained. The influence of temperature on natural frequencies of the system has been analysed for some different locations of activated plies and directions of SMA fibers. The frequency response functions varying with the material phase transformation for a harmonic load acting on the free end of the beam have also been presented.
W pracy przedstawiono zastosowanie włókien ze stopu z pamięcią kształtu (SMA) do modyfikacji właściwości dynamicznych belek laminowanych. Koncepcję adaptacyjnego sterowania oparto na unikalnej zdolności stopów SMA do wyraźnej zmiany wartości modułu Younga w procesie odwracalnej przemiany martenzytycznej wywołanej temperaturą. Założono, że warstwy laminatu są ułożone i uaktywniane symetrycznie względem powierzchni środkowej, a włókna SMA mogą swobodnie odkształcać się w osnowie. Symulacja numeryczna dotyczy belki laminowanej utwierdzonej wzdłuż jednego brzegu, z masą równomiernie rozłożoną na swobodnym, przeciwległym brzegu. Zgodnie z przyjętym stacjonarnym, jednowymiarowym modelem przewodnictwa cieplnego, wyznaczono przebiegi czasowe temperatury i zawartości martenzytu we włóknach SMA, oraz przebiegi podstawowej częstości własnej w zakresie przemiany fazowej. Zbadano wpływ temperatury na częstości własne zmieniając położenie warstw uaktwnianych a także kierunek ułożenia włókien SMA. Zakładając wymuszenie harmoniczne działające na swobodny brzeg belki, wyznaczono charakterystyki amplitudowo-częstotliwościowe odpowiadające pełnemu zakresowi transformacji fazy materiałowej.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to present seniors’ opinions about their activity and ways to meet seniors’ needs. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research problem was centered around: participation in senior social life; forms of activity undertaken by seniors; ways to spend free time by seniors and the needs of the elderly. Survey was used as the research method. The studies were diagnostic and exploratory. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The progressive demographic change in Polish society makes active and active aging more active and the elderly’s needs for care and support become a major stimulus for satisfaction and quality of life. The article reviews the opinions of seniors about their activity and ways of meeting their needs. RESEARCH RESULTS: This study has shown that participation in social life, forms of activity and the needs of the elderly in various ways are met and implemented. Seniors indicating inactivity (in this study are mainly social welfare beneficiaries) generally declare that they feel socially excluded. These people choose a type of home and solitary activity, and spending their free time is mainly based on watching TV and listening to the radio. On the other hand, active seniors (in this study are mainly participants in senior clubs) are satisfied with their role in society. Free time is spent on meetings with people, e.g. in the club and prefer to take various activities. Research also shows that various forms of senior activism, including senior ones, have an impact on the quality of life of the elderly, significantly improving their activity, while addressing higher needs and counteracting social exclusion. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMENDATIONS: There is a need for more intensified action by aid institutions, directed towards seniors who are inactive, excluded – social welfare clients, so that they too can live in the “autumn of life.” Training should also be provided to social workers who equip tchem with the necessary knowledge and skills to work effectively with the seniors and to effectively and effectively reintegrate and reintegrate them.

Chrysocolla is a kind of copper oxide mineral which was difficult to float. In this study, Diethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC) was employed to modify the surface of chrysocolla to improve its xanthate adsorption and floatability. Flotation experiments showed that the DDTC exhibited ability to activate rather than acting as a collector for chrysocolla flotation. After DDTC activation, chrysocolla can be effectively recovered by xanthate. The activation mechanism of DDTC was investigated via Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). During the activation, DDTC bonded to the surface copper atoms of chrysocolla, and more Cu(II) species on the mineral surface were reduced to Cu(I) species, which caused the formation of larger amounts of Cu active sites as –N–C(=S)S–Cu(II)– and Cu(I) species. The results of the adsorption tests and zeta potential measurements revealed that the DDTC-modified mineral surface reinforced adsorption of xanthate ions, thereby improving the chrysocolla floatability. Therefore, the Cu ions double interaction of DDTC and xanthate on the chrysocolla surfaces enhanced the strength and stability of the hydrophobic layer, resulting in an enhanced hydrophobization of the chrysocolla for its flotation.

The pearlite spheroidization in Fe-0.76%C high purity steel was investigated. The samples of a coarse pearlite microstructure were isothermal annealed at 700, 680, 660, 640 and 620°C for various times, up to 800 hours. For quantitative description of the spheroidization process stereological parameter, SV (ferrite/cementite interface surface density) was used. The activation energy 104.8±11.4 kJ/mol was found for the spheroidization process. This value shows good agreement with the activation energy for iron and carbon diffusion along a ferrite/cementite interface, so the coupled interface diffusion is the rule-controlling process.

In the present paper the degradation of chitosan and its blends with hydroxyapatite, nanoclay and nanosilver as well as the impact of those nanofillers added to chitosan on its decomposition at high temperatures are studied. The applied films of thickness 50 μm were obtained by casting the acidic solutions: chitosan and its blends with hydroxyapatite, nanoclay and nanosilver. To mix solutions with nanofillers ultrasounds were applied. To study the thermal degradation we applied thermogravimetry in dynamic and static conditions, which is a method of thermal analysis involving the continuous recording of weight loss Based on experimental data activation energies of thermal decomposition close to a maximum rate loss were calculated using different methods for chitosan and its blends with hydroxyapatite, nanoclay and nanosilver. The addition of three nanofillers mentioned above result in a visual increase of activation energy of thermal degradation process of chitosan due to slower evolution of decomposed gases from chitosan matrix reflected by a slower rate of weight loss.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the article is to present strengths and weaknesses of the Polish system of vocational guidance and career counselling for convicts on the example of occupational activation forms. The forms are presented in the context of the functionality of the system of career guidance and counselling provided to convicts in Poland, along with entities responsible for its implementation. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research problem has been formulated as the following questions: What are the forms of occupational activation of convicts, considering the context of the functionality of the system of occupational guidance and career counselling for convicts in Poland? The following methods have been applied for the research: an on-line questionnaire survey and a free-form interview with targeted questions. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: In the introductory part of the article the term of vocational guidance and career counselling is explained. Then the career counselling system in Poland is characterised. The considerations presented in the article are focused on strengths and weaknesses of vocational guidance and career counselling for convicts. RESEARCH RESULTS: The analysis refers the career guidance and counselling system for convicts. It also indicates a necessity of synergy which would incorporate all the elements into one system. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Considering economic and social aspects, the functionality of the system of career guidance and counselling for convicts is highly significant. Occupational activation of convicts contributes to the prevention of recidivism and it allows them to find employment after they leave prison.

The paper contains the description of Mucharz region before the installation of the dam called “Świnna Poręba” and new possibilities it gave. The traditional agricultural region will be transformed into touristic centre of aquatic sports. Strategic planning helps preparing the local development in the future but some aspects of the implementation are more important than others and must provoke the quick reaction from administration authorities. The preparation of appropriate infrastructure must start from now – potential visitors should be attracted by an interesting offer (both sport and cultural) and staff should be educated. The social revitalization is conditioned before all by the economic development of the region and by the successful collaboration between public and private partners. They cooperate not only in the search for subsidies but at all phases of the project and in the work for common good.

Opis:
Ignalina NPP Unit 1 with the RBMK-1500 type reactor enters the preparatory stage for its decommissioning. A big volume of graphite has to be dismantled and managed. This paper evaluates the composition of radionuclides in irradiated graphite on the basis of the calculation scheme with computer codes MCNPX and CINDER'90. Full scale calculations take into account the whole energy spectrum of neutrons, the spatial neutron flux in different reactor structures and the impurities of RBMK-1500 graphite measured by two independent methods. Principal contributors to the total activity as well as other radionuclides important from the radiological point of view are identified. The uncertainties of such calculations are discussed.

In the present paper the technique of the dynamic stability analysis proposed for conventional laminated structures is extended to cover the activated electrorheological fluid-filled beam under the time-dependent axial loading. The thin simmetrically laminated structure consists of the uniform beam and the multi-cell chains containing the electrorheological fluid in an extensional configuration. Changing the electric field on the cell electrodes modifies basic mechanical properties such as Young's modulus, and the retardation time. The present paper aims at analysis of the classical stability domains of the beam. In order to derive the dynamic stability criteria the Liapunov functional as a sum of the modified kinetic energy and the elastic energy of the beam is chosen. The stability regions as functions of loading characteristics, damping coefficient are given.
Dynamiczna stateczność laminatu z cieczą elektroreologiczną. Praca dotyczy analizy klasycznego zagadnienia stateczności belki wypełnionej cieczą elektroreologiczną w celu odpowiedzi na pytanie: jak elektryczna aktywacja cieczy zamienia obszary stateczności. Ciecz elektroreologiczną opisano modelem standardowym i modelem cieczy Oldroyda o współczynnikach zależnych od przyłożonego pola elektrycznego. W celu wyprowadzenia kryteriów stateczności posłużono się bezpośrednią metodą Lapunowa.

Copper-ion activation plays a highly important role in cervantite (Sb2O4) flotation. Without metal-ion activation, cervantite cannot be floated by sodium oleate. In this study, flotation tests were conducted to study the effect of Cu2+ on the flotation behaviours of cervantite and quartz (SiO2) as the main gangue mineral. Metal-ion adsorption capacities, zeta potentials, solution chemistry and X-ray photoelectron spectra were analyzed to study the adsorption behavior and mechanism of copper ions and sodium oleate interaction with the minerals surfaces. The results demonstrate that under weakly acidic conditions, cervantite can be flotated and separated from quartz by the addition of copper ions. The reason is that copper ions can be selectively adsorbed on the cervantite surface under weakly acidic conditions, thereby promoting the adsorption of sodium oleate onto the cervantite surface by chemical adsorption. Conversely, copper ions are weakly adsorbed on quartz surfaces below pH 6.1, and sodium oleate cannot be adsorbed on quartz surfaces by chemical adsorption. The hydroxy copper species are integral to the selective activation of cervantite over quartz.

Cheerleading is a new sport, practiced in 110 nations; since 2016 enjoys provisional Olympic status. Its leaders claim that it is a “happy” sport, but research on its psychological effects is lacking. In this field-study we examined core-affect, positive-affect, and negative-affect in 65 cheerleaders before, during, after, and one-hour after a cheerleading training. Core-affect was more positive during and immediately after training, but it tapered off one hour following the training when feeling states were still more positive than at baseline. Negative-affect declined linearly from baseline to one-hour following training when it became significantly lower than its previous values. Positive-affect showed quadratic dynamics, in parallel with arousal, being higher during and immediately after training than during baseline, or one-hour after training. These results demonstrate for the first time that cheerleading is a “happy” sport, which apart from the skill-development also yields positive psychological emotions both during and after training.

In this work, the results of studies on the preparation of sorbents from selected polymers were presented. The polymers were carbonized and subsequently physically activated by steam or carbon dioxide, or alternatively, chemically activated with potassium hydroxide. For the obtained materials, a specific area was evaluated by means of low-temperature nitrogen adsorption and benzene adsorption, iodine number was also determined. The obtained results indicated a possibility to procure hydrophobic sorbents of microporous structure. Sorbents having the best properties, i.e. the specific area of above 2000 m2/g were produced from poly(ethylene terephthalate) and phenol-formaldehyde resin.

A model for interaction of class A G protein-coupled receptor with the G protein Gα subunit is proposed using the rhodopsin-transducin (RD/Gt) prototype. The model combines the resolved interactions/distances, essential in the active RD*/Gt system, with the structure of Gtα C-terminal peptide bound to RD* while stabilizing it. Assuming the interactions involve conserved parts of the partners, the model specifies the conserved Helix 2 non-polar X- - -X, Helix 3 DRY and Helix 7/8 NP- -Y- - F RD* motifs interacting with the Gtα C-terminal peptide, in compliance with the structure of the latter. A concomitant role of Gtα and Gtγ>C-termini in stabilizing RD* could possibly be resolved assuming a receptor dimer as requisite for G protein activation.

Wielkopolska mimo najniższej w kraju stopy bezrobocia jest regionem bardzo zróżnicowanym, a różnice na rynkach lokalnych wynoszą 10 punktów procentowych. Populacja bezrobotnych w wielkopolskich urzędach pracy w 2015 r. wyniosła ponad 104 tys. osób. Dlatego tak ważne są formy aktywizacji zawodowej stosowane w stosunku do poszczególnych grup bezrobotnych, wielkość wydatkowanych na nią środków oraz efektywność stosowanych form aktywizacji. W opracowaniu zanalizowano poszczególne formy aktywizacji i ich wielkość. W Wielkopolsce najpopularniejsze są; staże, szkolenia i dofinansowanie podejmowanej działalności gospodarczej, z których to form wsparcia skorzystało łącznie przeszło 70% bezrobotnych objętych aktywnymi formami przeciwdziałania bezrobociu. Łącznie z form aktywizacji skorzystało w omawianym roku 4578 osób, a wydatkowano na aktywizację 270 676,4 tys. zł.
The changes taking place in the labour market and the funds allocated for an intervention on it, require permanent monitoring and analysis. In this paper I present an analysis of all the methods and instruments of labour activation implemented in the Wielkopolska Voivodeship in 2015 and financed from the Labour Fund and the European Social Fund. During this period, expenditures on these activities increased by 13.5% and covered 36% of all those registered unemployed. These forms of labour activation are supplemented with support of the unemployed and job seekers within Priority Area 6 of the Regional Operational Programme for Wielkopolska, which is co-funded by the European Social Fund. Priority Axis 6, named “Labour market”, covers six initiatives of activation, which support professional activity in the current financial perspective, and the total amount allocated is 311 737 921 PLN.

The paper deals with mechanisms used for reducing unemployment among women in Poland after the World War II, the so-called “women productivisation.” I discussed women’s attitude to employment and the state’s standpoint as far as the problem of women’s unemployment is concerned, and analyzed women’s unemployment figures in the introductory part. Employment policy in the early days of the Polish People’s Republic was a combination of many factors, among which the most important were ideology, pre-war tradition, and war-related experiences. Women found employment in the industry since the beginning of industrialization of the Polish lands in 19th century. In the interwar period and the early days of the Polish People’s Republic, employment increased mainly out of economic reasons (necessity to support family and oneself). It was in keeping with the Marxist ideology in place after the World War II. The “new woman” was to be free from capitalist exploitation and on par with a man in terms of professional career. The role model of the woman was in particular a female-worker employed in industry. After the war, in 1940s, the number of women registered at labor offices was rising. According to labor offices’ figures, the number of job offers for women was insufficient or these were unattractive. Hence, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (Ministerstwo Pracy i Opieki Społecznej) conceived the idea of developing short-term training for women and employing them in the cottage industry - action “AZ”. It lasted from 1947 to 1950; it was evolved due to changing regulations. Undoubtedly, the action “AZ” contributed to the development of “female” cooperatives, but with time it was considered as ineffective and its scope was limited. My fundamental goal was to discuss the ‘AZ’ program, including its course, scope, and scale, as well as its evaluation. The subject matter in question has not been discussed in detail to date but only briefly addressed in the literature listed below.

In this paper, the kinetics of the platinum(IV) chloride complex ions reduction reaction was studied. It was shown that the mechanism exhibits autocatalytic character. The presence of metallic platinum in the system significantly increases the reaction rate. The influence of the initial concentration of precursor, reductant, ionic strength, initial concentration of the chloride ions as well as the temperature on the process rate was investigated. The activation energy was determined and is equal to 93.57 kJ/mol. Moreover, the obtained metallic phase was analyzed, and it was observed that it has a micrometric size.

Secondary activation of commercial activated carbon (AC) ORGANOSORB 10-CO was carried out at 600, 700 and 800°C with mass ratios of potassium to AC (K/AC) in range 1–3. Crucial samples have shown following CO2  uptakes and SSA – 3.90 mmol/g and 1225 m2/g, 4.54 mmol/g and 1546 m2/g, 4.28 and 1717 m2/g for pristine material and samples obtained at 700°C with K/AC = 2 and at 800°C with K/AC = 3 respectively. Last sample also indicated significant mesopore volume increase in diameter range 2–5 nm, from 0.11 to 0.24 cm3/g. CO2 uptake increase was explained by formation of micropores up to diameter of 0.8 nm, which distribution was established from CO2  sorption using DFT. Surface chemistry of all samples has not changed during modification, what was proven by XPS. Moreover, deeper incorporation of potassium ions into graphite at higher temperatures was observed as confirmed with EDS, XPS and XRD.

The flotation of rutile can be enhanced using lead ion as an activator. However, the binding behavior of collector on the activated rutile surface is still not fully understood. In this work, flotation and theoretical calculation approaches were employed to evaluate the activation behavior of lead ion in the flotation of rutile with octyl hydroxamic acid (OHA). Flotation results indicated that the activation flotation with lead ion should be conducted at pH 6.5. The binding features of OHA molecule on the inactivated and Pb-activated rutile surfaces were both investigated by density functional theory (DFT) studies. The OHA molecule may dissociate into OHA− anion on the inactivated rutile surface, generating a new Ti–O bond. Differently, the chelate complex of Pb-OHA anion was generated on the activated rutile surface, producing two Pb–O bonds. The adsorption of OHA onto the activated rutile surface was more stable than that on the inactivated rutile surface, due to the formation of more chemical bonds on the activated rutile surface. The DFT calculation results delineated the role of Pb2+ in the rutile flotation with OHA.

This article is devoted to the analysis of the labour market in the district of Ropczycko-Sędziszowski and the situation of young people looking for em-ployment. Unemployment among young people is a negative phenomenon, the consequences of which negatively affect the development of the district. Among the registered unemployed aged 18 - 25, special attention is paid to those with the status of "special situation on the job market", who remain unemployed for more than 12 months and require to take various activation actions. In addition, the situation is becoming worse because of the fact that often the first experience in the job market is the registration at the job of-fice. A significant impact on the structure of youth unemployment are demo-graphic changes and interest in undertaking further studies. The results of analysis were used from own statements based on the statistical reporting of the District Job Office in Ropczyce and the statistical database of the Cen-tral Statistical Office, including the information from the Local Data Bank.

This paper presents a new method applied to measure the angular neutron emission from Plasma Focus (PF) - type deuterium discharges performed within the PF-1000 facility. Neutrons were recorded by activation of especially optimized (mass and shape) indium samples with subsequent gamma spectrometry to measure the induced activity of the samples. The neutron fluence rate on every indium sample used was determined using neutron transport calculation and measured activity of the samples.

The paper presents a short description of aluminosilicate materials which are microspheres derived from fly ash from coal combustion in power stations. The most important properties of such materials, the conditions of their formation, methods of obtaining and selected areas of application are discussed. The microspheres that were tested came from the Power Plant Skawina. Analysis of particle size and wall thickness of the microspheres and the analysis of the chemical composition have been carried out. This article also presents preliminary results of the alkaline activation of the microspheres in order to obtain a fraction within the zeolite. Alkali activation was carried out in several variants, using aqueous solutions of sodium hydroxide and the obtained results allow to determine the suitability of the microspheres to obtain zeolites in their substrate. Observations with the scanning electron microscope showed the existence of significant quantities of specific forms of zeolites, after alkaline activation processes of microspheres.

In order to explore the polymorphic transition law for ε-CL-20 in composite systems, the polymorphic transition process of pure ε-CL-20 crystals stimulated by heat was investigated by the X-ray Diffraction (XRD) method, and the kinetic parameters of the polymorphic transition process were calculated (including the apparent activation energy Ea and the pre-exponential factor lnA). Meanwhile the effects of different additives on the polymorphic transition process and kinetics of ε-CL-20 were explored in detail. The experimental results showed that the ε-form tends to transform into the γ- form on heating and that the Ea and lnA for the transition process were 209.97 kJ/mol and 57.47, respectively. The first group of additives clearly promoted the polymorphic transition of ε-CL-20 and lowered the initial transition temperature and the activation energy. The second and third groups of additives inhibited the polymorphic transition of ε-CL-20 and raised the initial transition temperature and the activation energy.

Professional activation of people with disabilities is dependent on three elements constituting a system of: employers, medical service and the very people with disabilities. The ability to do a job is a result of both motivation and ability of a person with disabilities to carry out a job, sort of job, along with possible appropriate adjustment of a work place and diagnostic-adjudging process conducted by authorities that adjudge the ability to work. The article presents opinions of the employers from Zielona Góra and its vicinity regarding barriers that in their minds lie in the Polish system of professional activation. Amongst many barriers it is necessary to enumerate: changeability of the law, unsatisfactory financial stimuli, low productivity of people with disabilities and the necessity to adjust the work place and the whole company to the specific needs of a person with disabilities.

Trampoline flight time is a recent addition to Olympic scoring and was sufficient in weight to displace a formed medal winner from a podium placement at the 2012 Olympics. The aim of our study was to examine different warm-up routines on trampoline flight time. We examined ten elite, female trampolinists (mean ± SD: age 19.2 ±5.4 y) who performed six different warm-up routines in a randomised, cross-over, counter-balanced manner: (a) static stretching (STAT, control), (b) STAT+10 trampoline bounces, (c) dynamic stretching (DYN), (d) DYN+10 trampoline bounces, (e) DYN+Drop jumps (DYN+DJ) and (f) DYN+isometric mid-thigh pulls (DYN+IP). Data were analysed using general linear models, Dunnett-HSU post-hoc tests vs. Control/STAT and magnitude based inferences vs. control. Our analysis demonstrated that total flight time following DYN 10 (17.29 ±0.52s, 83% likely beneficial, P < 0.002) was significantly longer versus STAT (16.59 ±0.49 s), with a trend toward significance for DYN (16.97 ±0.20 s; 22% likely beneficial, P = 0.077). The DYN-IP (14.04 ± 0.48 s) and DYN-DJ (14.15 ±0.66 s) produced the shortest vs. all warm-up forms (P < 0.005). To the contrary, the DYN+DJ and DYN+IP conditions were >99% likely to be detrimental to performance. Our results demonstrate a clear improvement in flight times when using a dynamic warm-up coupled with a trampoline specific bouncing task (DYN+10).

In this study, the effect of calcination temperature and time on the structure of calcinated magnesite was investigated. In addition, the effect of calcinated magnesite on rheology when added into bentonite suspension was also examined. Electrokinetic, rheological and stabilization studies including coagulation and gelation tests were performed to explain the mechanism of viscosity increase in bentonite suspension upon addition of the calcinated products. FTIR, SEM, BET analyses and rheological data were used to determine the transition degree of MgCO3 to MgO, and evaluate the structure of MgO and bentonite suspensions. The results from this study showed that specific surface area (SSA) and mean pore radius (MPR) values for the calcinated products were directly affected by the calcination temperature and time. According to the ignition loss and transition ratio from MgCO3 to MgO of the calcinated samples, it was found that the calcination was completed above 800 oC. In order to obtain a bentonite suspension with higher viscosity, interaction of the sufficient amount of MgO particles with bentonite particles were necessary. Based on these results, the formation of gelation and heterocoagulation between MgO and bentonite particles were found to be responsible for these effects.

The leaching kinetics of cerussite in alkaline medium was investigated with respect to experimental variables such as sodium hydroxide concentration, temperature, particle size and stirring speed. The results showed that leaching reagent concentration and reaction temperature exerted significant effects on the extraction of lead, whereas particle size and stirring speed exhibited a relatively moderate effect on the leaching rate. The leaching process followed the kinetic law of the shrinking core model, and the dissolution rates were controlled by the surface chemical reaction with an apparent activation energy value of 43.79 kJ/mol. A corresponding dissolution kinetic equation was also proposed to describe the dissolution reaction. The results indicated that sodium hydroxide could be used as an effective leaching reagent for extracting lead from cerussite.

Three different methods were used to obtain Bi5Ti3FeO15 ceramics, i.e. solid-state sintering, mechanical activation (MA) with subsequent thermal treatment, and electrical discharge assisted mechanical milling (EDAMM). The structure and magnetic properties of producedBi5Ti3FeO15 samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The purest Bi5Ti3FeO15 ceramics was obtained by standard solid-state sintering method. Mechanical milling methods are attractive because the Bi5Ti3FeO15 compound may be formed at lower temperature or without subsequent thermal treatment. In the case of EDAMM process also the time of processing is significantly shorter in comparison with solid-state sintering method. As revealed by Mössbauer spectroscopy, at room temperature theBi5Ti3FeO15 ceramics produced by various methods is in paramagnetic state.

Forest waste is a significant ecological and economic problem, requiring effective solutions that will not only reduce its quantity but also contribute to the protection of the natural environment. This research paper focuses on the use of sawdust from mixed trees, as one of the main forest wastes, for production of biochars characterized by adsorption properties. Sawdust, a by-product of the wood industry, has a porous structure, which makes it an attractive precursor to biochar. Using pyrolysis technology and hydrothermal activation under various conditions, sawdust was transformed into biochars with a developed specific surface area. The studies proved that the parameters of the pyrolysis process have a significant impact on the structural, surface and adsorption properties of biochars. The materials were characterized based on the results of N2 adsorption, scanning electron microscopy SEM/EDS, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) and Raman spectroscopy. The surface characterization was made using the Boehm titration and pHpzc determination. The sorption capacity of methylene blue (MB) was studied. It was stated, that the obtained materials were characterized by a large specific surface area (227.5 – 1019 m2/g), the micro/mesoporous structure and the large pores volume (0.106 – 0.784 cm3/g). The surface oxygen functionalities allowed for large adsorption of MB. The adsorption process follows the Langmuir theory (qm,cal from 357.1 to 434.8 mg/g) and can be described using the kinetic pseudo-second-order model (R2 = 0.99). The obtained biochars showed high adsorption capacity of methylene blue impurities which indicates their significant potential for use in water purification.

The article deals with the topic of unemployment and its consequences in the context of selected forms of social and professional activation. Unemployment is considered to be one of the most difficult socio-economic problems and can be considered on many levels. Unemployment significantly reduces the standard of living of an unemployed person and meeting their necessary needs, causing negative effects in the psychosocial economic sphere both for the individual and the society. The implementation of solutions aimed at reducing the level of unemployment is dealt with by the employment policy, unemployment prevention, especially in its active model. The aim of this social policy is social and professional activation of the unemployed, their return to the labor market and economic independence. The article discusses selected forms of social and professional activation by the example of programs implemented by the Social Welfare Center in Chorzów.

The presented article describes social integration clubs functioning in Poland as one of the main activating institutions. They also serve as entities of supported employment; one example is Social Integration Club in Chorzów. The clubs’ main task is social and professional activation, as well as counteracting social exclusion, which is understood as the most serious form of marginalization.
W niniejszym artykule scharakteryzowano działające w Polsce kluby integracji społecznej jako jedną z głównych instytucji aktywizujących. Funkcjonują one również jako miejsca wsparcia zatrudnienia; za przykład służy Klub Integracji Społecznej w Chorzowie. Głównym zadaniem klubów jest aktywizacja społeczna i zawodowa, a także walka z wykluczeniem społecznym, rozumianym jako najpoważniejsza forma marginalizacji.

This paper aims to show the effect of activation method of tyre pyrolysis char (TPC) on adsorptionof bisphenol A (BPA) from aqueous solutions. The TPC was produced from end-of-life-tyres (ELT)feedstock in a pilot plant at 773 K. Activation was accomplished using two classical methods: physicalactivation with CO2and chemical activation with KOH. The two produced adsorbents had pores rangingfrom micro- to macropores. Distinct differences in the BET surface areas and pore volumes betweenthe adsorbents were displayed showing better performance of the chemically activated adsorbent foradsorption of BPA from water.The results of the kinetic studies showed that the adsorption of BPA followed pseudo-second-orderkinetic model. The Freundlich, Langmuir, Langmuir–Freundlich and Redlich–Peterson isotherm equa-tions were used for description of the adsorption data. The Langmuir–Freundlich isotherm model bestfits the experimental data for the BPA adsorption on both adsorbents. Opis:
During the flotation of metal sulfide minerals, due to the interference of unavoidable ions, the quartz also partially floats in some cases. The studies on the mechanism of quartz being activated and floating up are still insufficient. In this study, the influence of the Cu2+ and Ni2+ unavoidable ions on the floatation of quartz was studied by micro-flotation experiments, adsorption detection, zeta potential measurement, solution composition calculation, infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses, and atomic force microscopy (AFM) observation. This provides a theoretical reference for further understanding the mechanism of sodium ethylxanthogenate and quartz surface, as well as the development of a new quartz depressant. The results of flotation showed that after activation by Cu2+ (1×10-4 mol/dm3) and Ni2+ (5×10-5 mol/dm3), the quartz was captured by sodium ethylxanthogenate (EX: 1.4×10-4 mol/dm3) under alkaline conditions (pH=10), while the best recoveries were obtained as 80% and 43%, respectively. The results of adsorption and zeta potential measurements showed that the precipitation rate of Cu2+ was greater than that of Ni2+ under alkaline conditions. Additionally, both Cu2+ and Ni2+ electrostatically adsorbed on the quartz surface and changed the zeta potential of quartz. The solution composition calculation further showed that Cu(OH)+, Cu(OH)2(s), and Ni(OH)+, Ni(OH)2(s) were the main components in the solution under alkaline conditions. The FT-IR and XPS analyses and AFM observations demonstrated that Cu and Ni species adsorbed on O atoms on the quartz surface, providing active sites for EX adsorption, and EX combines with Cu and Ni species on the quartz surface to generate -O-Cu-EX and -O-Ni-EX complexes. Finally, the quartz floated up due to the formation of hydrophobic products and firm adsorption.
