This paper presents a study of obtaining a model of the real quarter-car suspension device. The system is equipped with an automotive engineering magnetorheological (MR) rotary brake. Due to the complex mechanical structure of the apparatus the considered model contains several simplifications. In the parameter estimation process the grey-box method was used, while the process itself was split into two separate steps. In the first step, the parameters of the nonlinear model of suspension part are identified and the static profile of the MR damper is experimentally determined. The second step is to estimate the parameters of the model of the wheel-eccentricity part. Comparison of the modelled system trajectories and real-time experiments are presented. The identification results show that the obtained model is accurate and can be successfully applied to simulate the device.
W artykule przedstawiono proces modelowania systemu zawieszenia ćwiartki pojazdu. Układ wyposażony jest w rotacyjny tłumik magnetoreologiczny (MR). Wykorzystany model dynamiczny urządzenia zawiera szereg uproszczeń, a w celu identyfikacji jego parametrów zastosowano metodologię szarych modeli. Estymacja parametrów modelu została podzielona na dwie fazy. W pierwszej fazie zidentyfikowano układ wahacza oraz wyznaczono statyczną charakterystykę tłumika MR. Druga faza polegała na identyfikacji parametrów układu wymuszenia kinematycznego koło-mimośród. W pracy przedstawiono porównanie eksperymentalnych i symulowanych trajektorii badanego systemu. Wyniki identyfikacji wskazują, że zaproponowany model wystarczająco wiernie przedstawia dynamikę obiektu rzeczywistego i może zostać użyty do jej symulacji.

An N1 vehicle model is created, which allows for changing suspension parameters and conditions of experimental performance. A methodology of computer testing performance for vehicle ride comfort and stability service properties’ characterization in a virtual environment is proposed. Vehicle suspension system modelling and simulation are performed. The results of the N1 vehicle suspension system from full-scale laboratory and road tests are given.

Power distribution networks are an important element of the Electric Power System. Opis:
The deforestation and forest degradation rates have a propensity to rise every year. The problems in pertaining with the issue is not solely preoccupied on the ecological concern but also to the socio-economic impacts. The complexity of forest management is a serious barrier in determining a better management policy. Modeling system is a simple method to describe the real situation in nature. A qualitative approach is used to identify the relationship between the dynamics of important behaviors. The causal relationships among the factors were investigated by using causal loop diagram. The model conceptualization was constructed by using a stock-flow diagram. The result of the simulation model was used to determine the alternative policies for better forest management. The results indicated that the tenant welfare would be enhanced through the provision of production-sharing by 25% and the Corporate Social Responsibility by 2%, which yields a reduction in cultivated area of 916.61 ha within a period of 67 years or a decline of land area by an average of 13.68 ha per year.

W referacie przedstawiono metodę modelowania systemu fotowoltaicznego (PV) w środowisku MATLAB & SIMULINK oraz wyniki badań wpływu częściowego zacienienia na wartość uzysku energii z instalacji fotowoltaicznej. Zaproponowano model układu PV zbudowanego z pięciu połączonych równolegle paneli fotowoltaicznych typu TPSM6U. Przeprowadzono badania symulacyjne, uwzględniając efekt lekkiego rozproszonego zacienienia paneli, powodującego różnice w gęstości mocy promieniowania (irradiancji) dla poszczególnych paneli. Wyznaczono wartości energii elektrycznej generowanej przez poszczególne panele PV oraz cały system fotowoltaiczny dla wymuszenia rzeczywistego, opracowano wyniki i sformułowano wnioski końcowe.
The paper presents a method of modelling the photovoltaic system (PV) in MATLAB & SIMULINK environment and the research results of the partial shading impact on the energy yield value from the PV system. A model of the PV system made up of five parallel TPSM6U photovoltaic panels has been proposed. Simulation studies were carried out taking into account the effect of scattered light shading PV panels, resulting in differences in the solar radiation power density (irradiance) for each panel (up to 5%). The values of electricity generated by the PV panels and individual photovoltaic system for the actual input function were determined and to come up with results and draw final conclusions.

The aim of this paper is to present the concept of the supply chain resilience assessment in the case of disruptive events occurrence. Firstly, the methods for modelling uncertainty in terms of their application to assess this type of risk will be discussed, and then the concept of a fuzzy logic expert model enabling a quantitative assessment of supply chain resilience will be presented. Finally the structure of the simulation model has been proposed, which consists of the partial resilience models, namely: security, survivability and recovery ones. In the course of the simulation process, it is possible to identify the rules involved in system output as well as changes in resilience level which account for changes in inputs values.

The paper presents the idea of a 3D modeller dedicated to bent metal plates modelling, designed as a part of a greater application and destined for small and medium-sized enterprises. The aim of the application is to deliver a simple tool for free form surface modelling in two independent modes: as a rectangular parametric NURBS surface defined by regular net of points or alternatively as a surface smoothly interpolating an irregular set of data points, exposed to the process of triangulation and multiple subdivision of mesh of triangles.
W artykule zaprezentowano modeler powierzchni swobodnych zaprojektowany i zaimplementowany z przeznaczeniem do wdrożenia w małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach. System pracuje w dwóch niezależnych trybach: NURBS i Triangulacja. W trybie NURBS służy do modelowania gładkich powierzchni o ciągłej krzywiźnie, zadanych regularnymi siatkami punktów. W trybie Triangulacja (Mesh) służy do wprowadzania nieregularnych zbiorów punktów i generowania na ich podstawie powierzchni interpolujacej. Zadanie to rozwiązano za pomocą triangulacji, a następnie iteracyjnego zagęszczania siatek (tzw. subdivision) z użyciem zmodyfikowanej metody Butterfly. Zapis wyników działania w obu trybach do postaci plików DXF umożliwia przekazywanie danych do innych aplikacji, w celu ich późniejszego wykorzystania do analiz metodą elementu skończonego, w procesie obróbki zaprojektowanej powierzchni itp.

This paper presents the results of renewability research and evaluation of groundwater runoff in the Prosna river catchment of. The drainage basin is characterized by a considerable variation in geomorphology, hydrography and geology. The evaluation of groundwater renewability has been compared using both hydrological methods and mathematical modelling. Hydrological research consisted of genetic separation of the hydrograph for 1951-1980, and the Wundt and Kille methods based on low river flows for 1981-2010. Mathematical modelling has been conducted for the hydrodynamic state for 2014. The obtained results show a high convergence of about 3.7% in the case of the methods: Wundt, genetic separation hydrograph and mathematical modelling methods. On the contrary, a divergence of about 8-11% can be observed between these methods and the Kille method. Tables 1 and 2 present the results of renewability and groundwater runoff research in the Prosna river catchment. In conclusion, the mathematical modelling methods are considered as the most reliable for the evaluation of renewability and groundwater resources in catchments, due to spatial and various multilayer groundwater circulation systems.

This paper presents the design and investigation of a photovoltaic‒flywheel system for household purposes. The main goal of this work is the electrical and mechanical integration of the electromechanical high speed kinetic energy storage as UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) with photovoltaic solar system. The paper contains calculation and division of photovoltaic panels system according to its integration with active magnetic bearing (AMB) flywheel and external electric grid. The photovoltaic solar installation costs as well as its size were considered. The composite shell AMB flywheel prototype configuration design (using CAD-software) and two different material variants are investigated and presented. In particularly, the structural composite shell stress calculations of two different materials vs rotational speed are performed using a direct coupling of SolidWorks and Matlab software. The analytical calculations of PV‒flywheel system are provided in order to choose optimal type of photovoltaic panels according to motor/generator flywheel and household energy system requirements. All elements of PV‒flywheel system as transducers, bridges, wiring diagrams, etc., are optimized using Simscape tools. Finally, short- and long-time simulations results of PV‒AMB‒flywheel system and initial experimental results are presented and discussed.
W artykule przedstawiono wstępne badania zintegrowanego układu paneli fotowoltaicznych z łożyskowanym magnetycznie zasobnikiem energii kinetycznej. Głównym celem pracy jest próba integracji elementów elektrycznych i mechanicznych wysokoobrotowego elektromechanicznego magazynu energii kinetycznej jako urządzenia UPS z układem paneli fotowoltaicznych. W szczególności przeprowadzono obliczenia najważniejszych parametrów elektrycznych łożyskowanego magnetycznie zasobnika energii połączonego z układem paneli fotowoltaicznych celem jego integracji z trakcją sieci elektrycznej niskiego napięcia. Wykorzystując pakiety oprogramowania: CAD, SolidWorks i Matlab, wykonano badania symulacyjne wskaźników wytrzymałości koła zamachowego zasobnika energii kinetycznej w szerokim zakresie prędkości obrotowej dla dwóch różnych typów materiałów kompozytowych. Następnie, wykorzystując między innymi narzędzia Simscape, przeprowadzono optymalizację elementów systemu celem dopasowania jego głównych parametrów do wymagań stawianym domowym instalacjom fotowoltaicznym z akumulatorami energii elektrycznej. Wyniki badań symulacyjnych, przeprowadzone w cyklach krótko‒ i długo‒ czasowych, układu paneli fotowoltaicznych zintegrowanych z elektromechanicznym akumulatorem energii potwierdziły wstępne obliczenia i założenia.

The main aim of proposed article is the design of new software system for modelling and control of discrete‐event and hybrid systems using Arduino and similar microcontrollers. In this paper we propose a new tool. It is based on Petri nets and it is called PN2ARDUINO. It offers a capability of communication with the microcontroller. Communication with the microcontroller is based on modified Firmata protocol so control algorithm can be implemented on all microcontrollers that support this type of protocol. The developed software tool was successfully verified for control of laboratory systems. It can also be used for education and also for research purposes as it offers a graphical way for designing control algorithm for hybrid and mainly discrete‐event systems. Proposed tool can enrich education and practice in the field of cyberphysical systems (Industry 4.0).

Wstęp i cel: W pracy zaprezentowano zastosowania wybranych systemów ekspertowych we wspomaganiu zarządzania komponentami środowiska. Przedstawiono ogólny model oraz typologie systemów ekspertowych dla wspomagania podejmowania decyzji w działaniach zarządzania i ochrony środowiska. Scharakteryzowano wybrane systemy United States Environmental Protection Agency - U.S. EPA: EXAMS II - Exposure Analysis Modelling System II oraz system FGETS - Food and Gill Exchange of Toxic Substances Simulation System. Wyszczególniono szereg przykładów systemów ekspertowych klasy symulacyjno-prognostycznej jak systemy CORMIX I/II - Cormell University on Mixing Zone Model Expert System, HSPF, SWMM, WASP i in. Systemy znajdują m.in. zastosowanie we wspomaganiu analizy i oceny stanu środowiska wodnego oraz wspomaganiu decyzji w dziedzinie ochrony i zarządzania komponentami środowiska. Materiał i metody: Metody syntezy, przegląd literatury. Wyniki: Wskazanie przydatności systemów ekspertowo-symulacyjnych z celowością ich dalszego rozwoju i adaptacji. Wniosek: Możliwość wykorzystania i adaptacji pakietów systemów ekspertowych w diagnozowaniu oraz wspomaganiu podejmowania decyzji w ochronie i zarządzaniu komponentami środowiska oraz w dydaktyce.
Introduction and aim: The selected expert systems for support the environmental management and protection were presented. The general model of environmental expert system for decision support for management and analysis of the environment condition were depicted. Selected examples of expert systems from United States Environmental Protection Agency - U.S. EPA were shortly characterized. There were systems for analyzing the water environment as EXAMS II - Exposure Analysis Modelling System II and FGETS - Food and Gill Exchange of Toxic Substances Simulation. A few another systems especially for the prediction and simulation the water environment parameters were pointed: CORMIX I/II - Cormell University on Mixing Zone Model Expert System, HSPF, SWMM, WASP and others. Systems are found, among others application in supporting the analysis and assessment of the condition of the water environment and supporting decision in the field of protection and management of environmental components. Material and methods: method of synthesis, bibliographical review Results: Pointing the useful functionality the expert system in Environmental management protection and didactics. Pointing the possibility of adapting and developing mentioned systems. Conclusion: Usability the depicted expert systems in supporting processes of decision making and performing didactics.

As the competition among international container terminals has become increasingly fierce, every port is striving to maintain the competitive edge and provide satisfactory services to port users. By virtue of information technology enhancement, many efforts to raise port competitiveness through an advanced operation system are actively being made, and judging from the viewpoint of investment effect, these efforts are more preferable than infrastructure expansion and additional equipment acquisition. Based on simulation, this study has tried to prove that RFID-based real-time location system (RTLS) data collection and dynamic operation of transfer equipment brings a positive effect on the productivity improvement and resource utilization enhancement. Moreover, this study on the demand for the real-time data for container terminal operation have been made, and operation processes have been redesigned along with the collection of related data, and based on them, simulations have been conducted. As a result of them, much higher productivity improvement could be expected.

A voiceless stop consonant phoneme modelling and synthesis framework based on a phoneme modeling in low-frequency range and high-frequency range separately is proposed. The phoneme signal is decomposed into the sums of simpler basic components and described as the output of a linear multiple-input and single-output (MISO) system. The impulse response of each channel is a third order quasi-polynomial. Using this framework, the limit between the frequency ranges is determined. A new limit point searching three-step algorithm is given in this paper. Within this framework, the input of the low-frequency component is equal to one, and the impulse response generates the whole component. The high-frequency component appears when the system is excited by semi-periodic impulses. The filter impulse response of this component model is single period and decays after three periods. Application of the proposed modelling framework for the voiceless stop consonant phoneme has shown that the quality of the model is sufficiently good.

The effective implementation of new market strategies presents the mining enterprises with new challenges which require precise assessment instruments of the carried out business to be met at the level of mines, preparation plants, coking plants, and steelworks. These instruments include deposit, technological, and economic parameters, which together with a safety margin, determining the percentage reserve level of each parameter, shape the profitability of undertaken projects. The paper raises the issue of designing an IT architecture of the system for deposit modelling and mining production scheduling, implemented in the JSW SA. The development and application of the system was important with regard to the overriding objective of the Quality ProgramProgram of the JSW Capital Group, which is increasing the effectiveness of deposit and commercial product quality management. The paper also presents the required specification of the technical architecture necessary to implement systems and the actions required to integrate them with other IT systems of the JSW Group. The heuristic technical architecture of the JSW SA production line management system presented in the paper enables an analysis of the production process profitability in a carried account system in the area of mines, preparation plants, and coking plants of the mining group of the biggest European coal producer for metallurgical purposes.
Skuteczna realizacja nowych strategii rynkowych stawia przed przedsiębiorstwami wydobywczymi nowe wyzwania, których realizacja wymaga precyzyjnych instrumentów oceny prowadzonej działalności na szczeblu kopalń, zakładów przeróbczych, koksowni, jak i hut. Instrumentami tymi są parametry złożowe, technologiczne i ekonomiczne, które wraz z marginesami bezpieczeństwa określającymi procentowy poziom rezerw każdego z parametrów kształtują rentowność podejmowanych przedsięwzięć. W artykule poruszono tematykę projektowania informatycznej architektury systemu do modelowania złoża oraz harmonogramowania produkcji górniczej, wdrożonego w JSW SA. Opracowanie i zastosowanie systemu było istotne z pespektywy realizacji nadrzędnego celu Programu Jakość Grupy Kapitałowej JSW, czyli zwiększenia efektywności zarządzania jakością złoża i produktu handlowego. Następnie w artykule przedstawiono opracowaną wymaganą specyfikację architektury technicznej, niezbędnej dla wdrożenia systemów oraz wymagane działania niezbędne do integracji z innymi systemami IT Grupy JSW. Prezentowana w artykule heurystyczna architektura techniczna systemu zarządzania ciągiem produkcyjnym JSW SA pozwala analizować rentowność procesu produkcyjnego w układzie rachunku ciągnionego w obszarze kopalń, zakładów przeróbczych i koksowni grupy górniczej największego europejskiego producenta węgla do celów metalurgicznych. Sytuacja rynku surowcowego staje się problematyczna dla przedsiębiorców, którzy muszą w sposób elastyczny dopasowywać swoje firmy do zmiennych warunków rynkowych, aby utrzymać tzw. biznesowość swoich projektów górniczych.

The paper presents a concept for the use of fuzzy modelling and reverse inference to analyze the effects of planned implementation of an ERP system in a medium-sized manufacturing company. The proposed approach allows the possibility of achievement of the effects corresponding to the assumed enterprise targets to be evaluated, and is based on the assignation of suffcient conditions providing these effects defined in the form of selected indicators. The paper also includes a presentation of the results of computer experiments in the field of the determination of the influence of selected fuzzy modelling parameters on the obtained solutions. The suggested concept is dedicated to consultants of ERP software to support decision-making processes.

There is presented the practical application example of the theory of constraints, in the paper. In all enterprises from engineering industry, the main problem connected with realization of production orders are the constraint existing in every production system. Searching and increasing of the bottleneck (constraint) should be the first step in situation, when exist necessity to increase production. There are described principles and stages of the production system improvement, which are based on the mentioned above theory. In the paper, there is demonstrated that the computer simulation is very useful aiding tool for finding constraints and facilitating the analysis of different proposed changes in production systems.

Numerical simulations of tension and shear tests for a polycrystalline, anisotropic material were performed using crystal plasticity theory. The slip was considered here as the main mechanism of plastic deformation. Constitutive equations to describe the elastic-plastic deformation caused by the slip are presented. The generation and meshing of various shapes geometries (cubic and paddy shapes) with randomly-orientated grains by means of open source program NEPER program was shown. The Voronoi tessellation was used in order to include morphological properties of a crystalline material. The selected results of elastic-plastic analyses (stress, strain distributions and the macroscopic stress-strain resulting from homogenization) are presented here. The results obtained show the non-uniform distribution of stress and strain for different grains associated with their crystal orientation. The crystal plasticity finite element modelling of materials subjected to plastic deformation is important for microstructure-based mechanical predictions, as well as for the engineering design and to perform simulations involving not only the change of a material’s shape at a macro level but also the phenomena occurring in material in a micro-scale.

We present and analyze numerically a mathematical model of interactions between adaptive immune system and viral infection. The model is a bilinear system of partial integro-differential equations of Boltzmann type. It is a generalization of the recently proposed kinetic models that consider particular (namely, the cellmediated and the humoral) immune mechanisms used in the fight against viral infections. We use Matlab to solve complicated system of equations, present the results of computer simulations and explain their immunological meaning. The results show that the model can describe in a better way (in comparison with the previous kinetic models) real biological situations and is able to illustrate various methods of therapy.

This article presents the development of a mathematical model of a quadrotor platform and the design of a dedicated control system based on an optimal approach. It describes consecutive steps in development of equations forming the model and including all its physical aspects without commonly used simplifications. Aerodynamic phenomena, such as Vortex Ring State or blade flapping are accounted for during the modelling process. The influence of rotors’ gyroscopic effect is exposed. The structure of a control system is described with an application of the optimal LQ regulator and an intuitive way of creating various flight trajectories. Simulation tests of the control system performance are conducted. Comparisons with models available in the literature are made. Based on above, conclusions are drawn about the level of insight necessary in creation of control-oriented and useable model of a quadrotor platform. New possibilities of designing and verifying models of quadrotor platforms are also discussed.

This article presents the main stages and challenges in modelling and designing of modern ultrasonic welding and cutting systems. First, the key components of such a system, such as an ultrasonic stack (consisting of a high power ultrasonic transducer and a sonotrode) and a digitally controlled ultrasonic power supply with precise control of the output power, have been considered. Next, a concept of measurement system for verification and validation of mathematical models of ultrasonic stacks and its components has been presented. Finally, a method of ultrasonic stack e-diagnosis based on ultrasonic transducer electrical impedance measurement during welding and cutting process has been described.

The present articles covers a concept of the creation and testing of assembly systems with the use of modern CAD and CAE systems on the example of an assembly system designed for joining parts with circular surfaces that are fitted with positive clearance. The numerical investigations were based on the constructed spatial skeleton pattern of the system. The purpose of the simulation tests was to determine the impact of the measurement and angular inaccuracies of all the elements of the assembly system as well as the inaccuracy of the positioning of the robot’s drives on the positioning accuracy of the parts joined taking into consideration the conditions of assembly in automatic assembly.

In the paper are presented assumptions for developing a computational model of engine inlet system. The aim of developing an inlet system model will be determination of the effect of different factors on the value of engine filling coefficient and, what is connected with that, on the parameters of its operation. Intention of the author is that a model developed will be of developmental character and would be capable of being expanded by further components enlarging the range of its applications. In the paper are also presented the results of test bed examinations for the SW-680 engine with the inlet system enabling modiflcation of the length of inlet pipes. Findings are presented in the form of external characteristics where the effect of inlet pipe length on such parameters like power or torque, as well as on the rotational speed at which a maximum torque, is visible. The effect of inlet pipe length on torque rotational speed can be of significant importance in case of a possibility ofshaping the engine characteristic and matching the area of engine operation with vehicle operating conditions, which is presented on universal characteristics in the form of resistance-to-motion lines. Test bed examinations have also served a purpose of verifying the model developed. The author is aware of the fact that the model presented requires further development. After considering certain corrections, it will be possible to develop a working computer programme being of use in simulation tests for the inlet systems of different engines.

There is presented a practically well grounded approach concerned with the identification, evaluation, prediction and optimization of reliability, availability and safety of technical systems related to their operation processes. The main emphasis of this approach is on multi-state systems composed of ageing components and changing during the operation processes their structures and their components reliability and safety characteristics. There are proposed the convenient tools for analyzing these systems in the form of semi-markov modeling the systems’ operation processes and multistate modeling the systems’ reliability. There are described theoretical results of the proposed approach to reliability and safety analysis of multistate systems with degrading components in their operation processes and the possibility of their practical applications to the reliability and safety analysis and optimization of the complex technical port and maritime transportation systems.

From the point of view of enterprises dealing with WDS operation and maintenance, parameter assessment of reliability of WDS functioning is one of the basics for the assessment of the quality of water-supply services afforded by enterprises. To make reliability assessment possible, a two-state model of WDS reliability has been proposed. The basic parameter of this model is the probability of satisfactory performance of the system as a function of its reliability. Other, no less important parameters characterizing the model are probability of part fault state, intensity of occurrence of part fault states, average time of satisfactory performance state and average time of part fault state of the system. The model has been used to estimate the function of a definite WDS reliability on the basis of operational research of reliability during 3years of its functioning.

The Verilog-A "Analogue Device Model Synthesizer" (ADMS) has in recent years become an established modelling tool for GNU General Public License circuit simulator development. Qucs and ngspice are two examples of open source circuit simulators that employ ADMS for compact semiconductor model construction. This paper presents a "turn- key" compact device modelling and circuit macromodelling system based on ADMS and implemented in the QucsStudio circuit design, simulation and manufacturing environment. A core feature of the new system is a modelling procedure which does not require users to manually patch, by hand, circuit simulator C++ code. At the start of QucsStudio simulation the software automatically detects any changes in Verilog-A model code, re-compiling and dynamically linking the modified code to the body of the QucsStudio cod e. The inherent flexibility of the "turn-key" system encourage s rapid experimentation with analogue and RF compact device models and circuit macromodels. In this paper QucsStudio "turn-key" modelling is illustrated by the design of a single stage RF amplifier circuit and the Harmonic Balance large signal AC simulation of a 50 Ω RF diode switch.

There has been designed a device for verticalization and aiding the gait of individuals suffering from paresis of the lower limbs. It can be counted in the category of so-called “wearable robots”, whose task is to replace or aid human limbs. Dependently on the function realized, these robots are classified into one of the following three groups: a) exoskeletons - strengthening the force of human muscles beyond their natural abilities, b) orthotic robots - restoring lost or weakened functions of human limbs, c) prosthetic robots - replacing an amputated limb. A significant feature of the device that has been designed is the fact that it has not to replace human limbs, but only restore them to their lost motor capabilities. Thus, according to the presented classification, it is an orthotic robot. Unlike in the case of the existing systems for verticalization, the gait is to be realized in a way that is automatic to the highest possible extent, keeping the user involved as little as possible, and the device is to imitate the natural movements of man with the highest fidelity. Within the works on the system for verticalization and aiding the motion, a simulation model of the device was created. It includes a structure of the robot, a model of the actuators and a model of the human body that constitutes the load for the driving units. Then, simulation studies were carried out, including evaluation of the power demand of the device as well as the influence of the gait rate and of the length of the steps on the operation of the system.

The paper develops a new methodology of FE modelling and simulation of the bridge - track - moving train system with the use of CAE systems. The KNI 140070 viaduct of span length 14.40 m, located on the Polish Central Main Line, has been selected. The modernized track contains: 60E1 main rails equipped with Vossloh 300-1 fasteners, 60E1 side rails with SB3 fasteners, B 320 U60 sleepers, crushed stone ballast, approach RC slabs. A KTX (Korea Train eXpress) high-speed train, being a modification of a TGV train, is taken into consideration. A methodology of physical and numerical modelling of the viaduct, the track and the train was developed using Altair HyperMesh and LS-PrePost software. The FE model of a bridge superstructure consists of 4-node shell elements (main beams) and 8-node 48 DOF solid elements (reinforced concrete platform). RAIL TRACK and RAIL TRAIN modules available in LS-Dyna system were applied for simulating the train — trach interaction. Hughes-Liu beam elements were used for the rail modelling. Rail fastenings were simulated using one-dimensional discrete spring and damper elements. Carbodies, bogieframes and wheelsets were considered as rigid bodies and they were modelled using shell and beam elements. Cylindrical and revolute constrained joints and discrete springs and dampers were applied to connect all components of the FE model of rail-vehicles. The exemplary simulation of transient vibrations of the bridge - trach -train system has been made for service velocity 300 km/h. Contours of displacement and stress and selected time histories for displacements, accelerations and stresses, created in LS-PrePost and HyperView software, have been analysed.

The scientific study is devoted to the development of conceptual bases, principles and scenario of the modelling of environmental safety in the system of sustainable development. The study considers artificiality, structural instability, quantifiability and duality of environmental safety. Factor and time components of safety determined according to the modified stochastic approach are also disclosed. They interpret the dependence of the environmental competitiveness of the region on the level of environmental hazard (component by component), innovation and investment activity aimed at improving the state of the environment. The authors of the paper argue that safety modelling, in view of institutional transformations (or responses), characterizes the level of response to challenges, taking into account the analysis of environmental safety issues in the system of sustainable development, the state of legal mechanisms, the struggle against threats and risks, etc. In the light of the aforementioned, an econometric model of the period and change in the dependence of the ecological competitiveness of the territory on the level of environmental hazard, innovation and investment activities aimed at improving the state of the environment is developed. The obtained results of the modelling, based on modified stochastic approach using real information that quantitatively reflects the features of such processes, prove a significant influence of genetic factors on competitiveness.

This paper presents a predicted target architecture of an integrated manufacturing and management system, based on a metropolitan-type intranet and an industrial process control and monitoring network. Such systems are urgently required by prospective users, especially large-scale manufacturing enterprises. Nevertheless, neither big manufacturers of computer integrated manufacturing systems nor big manufacturers of computer integrated systems are willing to develop combined computer integrated manufacturing and management systems. To evaluate performance, a method developed for packet switching networks with end-to-end acknowledgement was applied. The paper describes the investigations carried out for the case study. Some consideration is given to the performance evaluation accuracy, based on the validation work results obtained from analytical work, simulation and measurements on the Polish pilot wide area network.

The main goal of the TRANSCAT project is to create an operational and integrated comprehensive Decision Support System (DSS) for optimal water management of catchments in borderland regions. The analysis of system requirements was followed by the analysis of possible architecture of the complex system and its appropriate design. The core of the proposed system (ETRA GIS) contains gis-Toolkit, web server, DBS, database interface, web services application interface and remote components. The system utilises selected software tools of hvdrological and hvdrogeological modelling (HEC-HMS, ModFlow, GRASS GIS modules). The special wrappers for each of the model were developed, enabling communication among models. Decision-making is supported by integrated decision applications (mDSS, Mediator, ProDec, BarTend, ArgWar) facilitating mainly the process of evaluation of a wide spectrum of indicators and the process of decision-making. The core of the system utilises a database with special design. The object part of the database represents a data warehouse with multidimensional structure. Implementation of TDSS was undertaken in Bela/Biala Glucholaska (CZ/PL), Pasvik (NO/RUS), Sumava (CZ/D), Mesta/Nestos (BG/GR) and Guadiana (P/ESP) pilot areas, where also respective models were calibrated.

The paper presents a uniform, port-based approach to modelling of beam/bar systems (trusses). The port-based model of such a distributed parameter system has been defined by application of the bond graph methodology and the distributed transfer function method (DTFM). The proposed method of modelling enables one to formulate input data for computer analysis by application of the DTFM. The constructed computational package enables frequency domain analysis. Additionally, the presented approach uses DTFM to obtain a modal reduced model of the considered system in the form of modal bond graph. The presented algorithm in a simply way allows one to obtain a modal reduced model of complex distributed-lumped parameter beam/bar systems.
W pracy przedstawiono jednolity sposób modelowania konstrukcji belkowo-prętowych (kratownice). Model rozważanego systemu o parametrach rozłożonych został opracowany przy zastosowaniu metodologii grafów wiązań i metody transmitancji układów o parametrach rozłożonych (DTFM). Proponowana metoda modelowania pozwala sformułować wygodny algorytm do analizy komputerowej z zastosowaniem DTFM. Opracowany system obliczeniowy umożliwia analizę w dziedzinie częstotliwości oraz otrzymanie zredukowanego modelu modalnego rozważanego układu w postaci modalnego grafu wiązań. Prezentowany algorytm w prosty sposób pozwala na uzyskanie zredukowanego modelu modalnego złożonych, dyskretno-ciągłych układów belkowo-prętowych.

Opis:
Active suspension systems ease the conflict between comfort and handling. This requires the use of suitable actuators that in turn need to be efficiently controlled. This paper proposes a model-based control approach for a nonlinear suspension actuator. Firstly the concept is derived in the linear framework in order to simplify the synthesis and analysis phase. There a linear model of the actuator is proposed and discussed. Further, this design phase includes a comparison between model-free PID controllers and a newly proposed two-degree-of-freedom controller which allows one to shape reference and disturbance responses separately. Subsequently, the two-degree-of-freedom controller, which proves to be superior, is adapted to the nonlinear framework by considering a linear parameter varying representation of the nonlinear plant. Finally, the nonlinear controller is implemented in a test car confirming the concept applicability to real hardware.
Aktywne systemy zawieszenia łagodzą konflikt między komfortem a właściwościami jezdnymi samochodu. Wymagają one użycia odpowiednich siłowników, a te z kolei powinny być efektywnie sterowane. W artykule zaproponowano opartą na modelowaniu koncepcję sterowania nieliniowego siłownika w zawieszeniu samochodu. Koncepcja tego rozwiązania jest początkowo przedstawiona w ramach opisu liniowego, co ma uprościć fazę syntezy i analizy. Na tym etapie jest proponowany i dyskutowany model liniowy. Ta faza projektowania obejmuje ponadto porównanie między niezwiązanymi z modelem sterownikami PID i proponowanym, nowym sterownikiem o dwu stopniach swobody, który pozwala niezależnie kształtować odpowiedź referencyjną i odpowiedź na zakłócenia. W dalszym etapie, dla sterownika o dwu stopniach swobody, który okazał sie lepszy od pozostałych, wprowadza się opis nieliniowy, traktując parametr liniowy jak zmienną reprezentację nieliniowego obiektu regulacji. Ostatecznie, nieliniowy sterownik zawieszenia jest instalowany w samochodzie testowym, a badania potwierdzają celowość zastosowania tej koncepcji w rzeczywistym sprzęcie.

The purpose of this paper is to present a survey and analysis of the dynamic interaction between the pantograph and a catenary system. The work presented in this paper emphasizes the modelling, simulation of co-operating systems and identification done by experiments on a physical model. For analytical and numerical investigation the overhead electrification system is modelled by visco-elastically connected double Bernoulli-Euler beams. For the pantograph - a model of masses vibrating in the vertical plane at a constant velocity and having four degrees of freedom (DOF) is adopted. The construction of a simple virtual model for computer simulation and some results obtained from investigations carried out on this model are presented. The work constains some numerical examples that illustrate presented theoretical investigations. The analysis of the virtual and two physical experimental models goves the possibility and benefit of their mutual verification and comparison.
Celem pracy jest analiza dynamicznej współpracy pantografu z linią trakcyjną. Rozważane są zagadnienia związane z modelowaniem i symulacją zjawisk zachodzących w układach zasilania kolejowej trakcji elektrycznej, a także identyfikacją na fizycznym modelu doświadczalnym. W pracy przyjęto model sieci trakcyjnej złożony z dwóch równolegle umieszczonych belek Bernoulliego-Eulera. Odbierak prądu, poruszający się ze stałą prędkością, modelowany jest nieliniowym cztero-masowym układem wykonującym ruch w płaszczyźnie pionowej. Przedstawiono konstrukcję modelu wirtualnego i wyniki symulacji przeprowadzonych na tym modelu. Analiza wyników eksperymentów przeprowadzonych na fizycznym modelu doświadczalnym i na modelach symulacyjnych pozwala na ich wzajemną weryfikację.

Postępująca w ostatnich latach cyfryzacja wymusza na projektantach implementację narzędzi cyfrowych. Stopniowo pojawiają się systemy, które umożliwiają parametryczne generowanie modeli, czy to architektonicznych, jak BIM (ang. Building Information Model), czy dotyczących krajobrazu – LIM (ang. Landscape Information Model). Problematyka komputerowego modelowania krajobrazu jest bardzo rozległa. Obejmuje całe spektrum zagadnień dotyczących form terenu oraz jego pokrycia, w tym obiektów o charakterze kulturowym i przyrodniczym. W opracowaniu omówiono zagadnienia dotyczące tworzenia trójwymiarowych modeli drzew, w tym szczególnie struktur bazujących na L-systemach. Dzięki wykorzystaniu liczb losowych, a z drugiej strony – bardzo precyzyjnemu opisowi gramatyki przestrzennej, pozwalają one na generowanie niepowtarzalnych okazów drzew, które jednocześnie zachowują cechy charakterystyczne dla określonego gatunku. Porównano i oceniono dwa programy służące tworzeniu modeli drzew.
Recently, digital techniques have made a rapid progress, forcing designers to implement numerical tools. Gradually, the systems appear, which allow generation of parametric models, whether in architecture – BIM (Building Information Model), or in landscape architecture – LIM (Landscape Information Model). In case of landscape the problem of computer modelling is very complex. It covers the whole spectrum of issues, starting from the landform to its cover, including objects of cultural and natural heritage. The paper discusses the issues concerning creation of three-dimensional models of trees, particularly, structures basing on L-systems. Thanks to the use of random numbers, and, on the other hand, very precise description of the spatial grammar, they enable creation of the unique examples of trees, which at the same time have the characteristics of the given species. Two programs for the generation of tree models were compared and evaluated.

System transportowy podlega różnym zakłóceniom, których źródeł należy szukać zarówno w obszarze funkcjonalno-użytkowym (np. brak odpowiedniej efektywności w odniesieniu do wielkości popytu), w obszarze techniczno-eksploatacyjnym (np. roboty drogowe prowadzące do całkowitego lub częściowego zamknięcia elementów sieci), jak również w obszarze związanym z czynnikami losowymi (np. niekorzystne warunki atmosferyczne, działania terrorystyczne, wypadki i kolizje drogowe). Zdarzenia te prowadzą do zmniejszenia przepustowości elementów sieci transportowej oraz obniżenia poziomu swobody ruchu. W efekcie tego często powstaje zatłoczenie (kongestia) a wywołane nim straty czasu powodują spadek jakości przemieszczania. W artykule, na podstawie dostępnej literatury, przedstawiono przegląd i klasyfikację czynników wpływających na występowanie kongestii i zakłóceń w ruchu drogowym. Konsekwencje zakłóceń w sieci drogowej są znacznie szersze niż wzrost czasu podróżowania i powinny być rozpatrywane jako problem zredukowanej efektywności całego systemu transportowego w mieście. Proces powstawania ruchu w systemie transportowym opisywany jest często w postaci czterostopniowego (klasycznego) modelu podróży jako efekt sekwencyjnego podejmowania decyzji dotyczących potrzeb i czasu przemieszczania (transportu), wyboru miejsca docelowego, środka transportu oraz drogi przemieszczania. W takim ujęciu szeroki zakres oddziaływania zakłóceń wiąże się z koniecznością uwzględnienia ich wpływu na każdym z etapów procesu decyzyjnego.
Transportation system is expose to different disturbances, the sources of that could be found not only in functional and practical area (e.g. lack of proper efficiency of demand value), technical and operating area (e.g. road works carry on to total or partial closure of road network elements) but in the area related to random events (e.g. unfavourable weather conditions, terrorist actions, road traffic accidents and collisions). The events lead to the decrease of capacity of transportation network and to reduction of level of traffic freedom. As a result there is a congestion on the roads and waste of time causing the decrease of travel quality. The review and classification of factors influencing on congestion and disturbances appearance in road traffic have been given in the paper. The consequences of disturbances in road network are more extended than only increase of travel time and they should be considered as a problem of reduced capacity of transportation system in a city. The process of traffic arisen in transportation system is often described in form of four-step (classical) model as an effect of sequential process of taking a decision towards necessities and travel time, choice of destination, means of transport and route of travel. This approach leads to the necessity of taking into account disturbances and their influence at each step of decision process.

In this work project and implementation of software simulator of client-server system is presented. Selected characteristics of such system are discussed. Every elements of client-server model are defined. Possibilities of simulator from the system efficiency point of view are presented. Many characteristics which can be obtained during simulation experiments of client-server exploitation are shown.

W artykule sformułowano rozważane problemy modelowania i symulacji relacji niezawodnościowych. Modelowaniem relacji niezawodnościowych nazywamy identyfikację systemów, tworzenie modeli relacji niezawodnościowych i weryfikację tych modeli. Tworzenie modeli relacji niezawodnościowych stanowi myślowe odwzorowanie relacji niezawodnościowych i eksperymentalne odwzorowanie (symulacja i badania) relacji niezawodnościowych. Wskazano drogę postępowania w modelowaniu relacji niezawodnościowych według sformułowanych zasad. Wskazano także na użyteczność rozważanego modelowania relatywnie do tych zasad.
In this paper, considered problems of modelling and simulation of reliability relations are formulated. We call modelling of reliability relations the identification of systems, the creation of models of reliability relations and the verification of these models. The creation of models of reliability relations is a mental expression of reliability relations and an experimental expression (simulation and investigation) of reliability relations. The proceeding course in modelling of reliability relations according to formulated basic principles is shown. The utility of considered modelling in relation to these principles is also pointed out.

In this article, the problem of microbial contamination occurring in the fuels and oils was presented. It shows the types of microorganisms and the conditions for their growth. Then the factors influencing the growth of bacteria in petroleum products were described in detail. In the next section the symptoms, development and contamination of petroleum products was discussed. The influence of microbial contamination on the marine engine fuel system and the problems that this brings were also presented. In the following part of the article, the impact of microbial contamination of fuel tanks and purifiers was described. Then the causes of sludge were discussed and contamination layers in the settling tanks were presented. In the next part of the article the fuel impact modelling of microbial contamination on filtration efficiency was performed. The modelling presented in the article is an example showing how undesirable phenomenon is the microbial contamination and how pollution affects the other elements of the entire system. As part of the modelling, numerical model of filtration with the solution was presented. Then analysis results on the basis of the impurities concentration characteristics in the fuel as a function of the fouling thickness in the partition of the filter is performed. The development of impurities was divided into three stages. For each case the line trend and forecast further growth after the application of measures to prevent the proliferation of microorganisms were designated. The article was completed applications, of which the most important is the need to combat harmful microorganisms. And besides, there is a need to find new methods of combating microbial contamination that will not destroy beneficial microorganisms and will be environmentally friendly.

Mathematical models of an electromechanical system with an induction motor are dealt with in the paper. An electric motor model is described in the equivalent axial coordinate system (x, y). The mathematical model of the gear train has been formulated by means of a hybrid method of rigid and deformable finite elements. Special attention has been paid to problems of modelling of planetery gears. The sensitivity analysis and optimization have been carried out using an objective function describing the maximal forces in kinematic pairs. The applied algorithm of direct differentiation makes it possible to examine the influence of parameters of the electromechanical model on the dynamic phenomena occuring in the system. From the performed investigations it appears that, when modelling the mechanisms under consideration, it is necessary to take electromechanical couplings into account.
W pracy omówiono sposób modelowania elektromechanicznych układów napędowych z silnikami indukcyjnymi. Model silnika elektrycznego opisano w zastępczym układzie współrzędnych (x, y). Model matematyczny przekładni zębatej opracowano z wykorzystaniem hybrydowej metody sztywnych i odkształcalnych elementów skończonych. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na modelowanie przekładni planetarnej. Analizę wrażliwości i optymalizację przeprowadzono dla funkcji celu opisującej wartości maksymalne sił dynamicznych. Zaprezentowana metoda bezpośredniego różniczkowania umożliwia określenie wpływu parametrów silnika napędowego na zjawiska dynamiczne w części mechanicznej.

The Simulation Based Operational Training Support System (SBOTSS), which was constructed in order to provide cost-effective approach of Computer Assisted Exercises, is an integrated, interactive, many-sided land analysis and training support model (with logistics, engineering, electronic warfare and intelligence functions). The idea and model of command and control process applied for the decision automata on the tactical level are presented. The automata execute the two main processes: decision planning process and level are presented. The automata execute the two main processes: decision planning process and direct combat control. The decision planning process relating to the automata contains three stages: identification of a decision situation, generation of decision plans, variants evaluation and nomination of the best variant of these, which statisfy the proposed criteria. The paricular approach to identification of decision situation and variants of action are presented. The procedure of variants generation, based on some kind of pre-simulation process, contains the evaluation module, which allows us the best choice of action plan according to specified criteria. The direct combat control process contains such phases like command, reporting and reaction to fault situations. Some results of the simulation process including the decisions made by automata are considered.
System Symulacyjnego Wspomagania Szkolenia Operacyjnego Wojsk (SSWSO), który został skonstruowany w celu prowadzenia niskokosztowych ćwiczeń wspomaganych komputerowo (ang. Computer Assisted Extercises, CAX) jest zintegrowanym, interaktywnym, wieloszczeblowym, wspomagającym ćwiczenia i analizy postsymulacyjne systemem (z uwzględnieniem logistyki, wojsk inżynieryjnych, walki elektronicznej i rozpoznania). W pracy przedstawiono ideę i model procesu dowodzenia i kontroli w zastosowaniu do automatu decyzyjnego na szczeblu taktycznym. Automat realizuje dwa główne procesy: proces planowania decyzji i bezpośredniej kontroli walki. Proces planowania decyzji składa się z trzech etapów: identyfikacji sytuacji decyzyjnej, generowania wariantów decyzji (planów działań), oceny wariantów i wyboru wariantu najlepszego, który spełnia pewne kryteria. Zaprezentowano specyficzne podejście do problemu identyfikacji sytuacji decyzyjnych oraz wariantów działań. Procedura generowania wariantów bazuje na procesie presymulacji i zawiera moduł oceniający, który umożliwia nam wybór najlepszego planu działań w zależności od przyjętych kryteriów. Proces bieżącej kontroli walki zawiera takie fazy, jak: dowodzenie, meldowanie i reakcję na tzw. sytuacje awaryjne. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki wybranych symulacji uwzględniających decyzje podejmowane przez opisywany automat decyzyjny.

In this paper a technique of modelling mechatronic systems is investigated. Such technique is developed in order to build an integrated model of workpiece-fixture system additionally equipped with active deformation compensation system. The analysed type of workpieces is flexible, thin-walled parts under mechanical and non-mechanical loads. The model has been implemented in ABAQUS/Standard FEM code where the behaviour of actuator drives and a control system has been emulated with user subroutines. Model simulation data is confronted against data from experimenta investigations and theoretical calculations. Additional multi-domain simulations with the use of temperature-displacement calculation scheme, utilising the analogous deformation compensation method are described. Finally, results are discussed and conclusions are drawn.

W pracy przedstawiono modelowanie oraz wielokryterialną optymalizację pneumo-hydraulicznego układu zawieszenia, którego właściwości wibroizolacyjne są kształtowane poprzez zmianę charakterystyk sił reakcji sprężyny pneumatycznej i amortyzatora hydraulicznego. Zaproponowana procedura optymalizacji umożliwia znalezienie Pareto-optymalnych rozwiązań układu, dla którego uzyskuje się jednoczesną minimalizację przeciwstawnych kryteriów wibroizolacji: przyspieszenia drgań izolowanego obiektu oraz przemieszczenia względnego układu zawieszenia.
A design of vibro-isolating pneuma-hydraulic systems, constructed at present, is a big challenge for engineers, because of conflicted criteria that are involved in their design [13]. For example, in the automotive industry it is desired to reduce vibrations of a cabin floor transmitted to an operator seat. On the one hand, dynamic forces transmitted from the cabin floor to the seat should approach zero to protect driver's health. On the other hand, the suspension travel should approach zero in order to ensure the controllability of working machines. The best compromise between opposite require-ments creates a complex, nonlinear optimisation problem [1]. In this paper the modelling and multi-objective optimisation of a suspension system are presented. The investigated passive suspension system has vibro-isolating properties that are shaped by a change of forces in a pneumatic spring and hydraulic damper. A combined optimisation procedure has allowed to find the Pareto-optimal system configuration with the simultaneous minimization of the conflicted criteria: suspended body acceleration and suspension travel. The basic findings of the paper consist in the multi-criteria optimisation procedures of a suspension system taking into account its nonlinear dynamic behaviour.

The paper describes modelling and testing of the piezoelectric beam as energy harvesting system. The cantilever beam with two piezo-elements glued onto its surface is considered in the paper. As result of carried out modal analysis of the beam the natural frequencies and modes shapes are determined. The obtained results in the way mentioned above allow to estimate such location of the piezoactuator on the beam where the piezo generates maximal values of modal control forces. Experimental investigations carried out in the laboratory allow to verify results of natural frequencies obtained during simulation and also testing of the beam in order to obtain voltage from vibration with help of the piezo-harvester. The obtained values of voltage stored on the capacitor 0 shown that the best results are achieved for the beam excited to vibration with third natural frequency, but the worst results for the beam oscillating with the first natural frequency.

Pollution of the marine environment by ship garbage is an urgent problem to be solved at home and abroad. The ship kitchen garbage vacuum collection system is a new environmental protection scheme for garbage disposal. It has many advantages, such as using a pipeline instead of manual operation, creating high-level sanitary conditions, realising completely closed garbage collection and transportation, eliminating cross-pollution, saving space and so on. In this paper, the system is modelled, and the calculation of pipeline pressure loss, the vacuum degree of the vacuum tank and the energy consumption of the system are briefly introduced. In order to reduce the energy consumption, an algorithm for the emptying and discharging port is presented. In order to solve the problem of optimising relevant parameters, the vacuum transport mechanism of garbage is studied based on an optimisation model of the pipe network, and the experimental platform of a simulation device is set up. In engineering, this is of great significance to the design of cruise ship garbage collection and treatment systems and the development of supporting technology.

The study develops a methodology for numerical modelling and simulation of a 12.7 mm 13.4 g FSP fragment impact into the ALFC shield – ARMOX 500T steel plate system. The ALFC shield is composed of the ALF energyabsorbing subsystem and a 10 mm-thick 99,7% Al2O3 alumina ceramic layer. The ALF subsystem is designed to absorb blast wave impact energy induced by explosive materials up to 10 kg TNT. The ceramic layer is designed to stop fragments from IED explosion. The 5 mm-thick Armox 500T steel plate constitutes the body bottom segment of a light armoured vehicle. The ALF subsystem has the following layered structure: Al2024 aluminium alloy plate, SCACS hybrid laminate plate, ALPORAS aluminium foam, SCACS hybrid laminate plate. The layers are joined with Soudaseal 2K chemoset glue. SCACS hybrid laminate contains the following components: VE 11-M modified vinylester resin (matrix), SWR800 S-glass plain weave fabric, Tenax HTA40 6K carbon plain weave fabric, Kevlar 49 T 968 aramid plain weave fabric. The total thickness of the ALFC shield amounts to 90 mm. Proof ground tests of a 12.7 mm 13.4 g FSP fragment impact into the ALFC shield - ARMOX 500T steel plate system have been performed at impact velocity 715 m/s and used for experimental validation of numerical modelling and simulation. In the numerical modelling, the aluminium alloy plate and Armox 500T steel plate are working in the elasto-plastic range according to Johnson-Cook model. The 99.7% Al2O3 alumina ceramic is working in elasto-short range according to JH-2 Johnson-Holmquist model. The simulations correspond to large displacements, large deformations and potential contact among all the components of the system. In FE mesh, the 8-node 24 DOF hexahedral finite elements with single integration point have been used. Failure criteria governing ad-hoc erosion of finite elements have been applied. The FEM modelling, simulation and postprocessing have been carried out using Catia, HyperMesh, LS-DYNA and LS-PrePost systems. The simulation results in the form of displacement/penetration contours and the FSP final deformation have been compared with the experimental results.

The study presents FE modelling and simulation of a system for range testing of protective shields for light armoured vehicles. The protective shield designed by Authors is used against HE mines and IEDs up to 10 kg TNT. The system consists of the multiple-use portable rangę stand, a protected Armox 500T steel plate and a protective shield. The shield has a multi-layer structure and has the following main layers: PA11 aluminum, SCACS hybrid laminate, ALPORAS aluminum foam, SCACS hybrid laminate, connected together using SOUDASEAL chemo-set glue. The HE spherical charge is suspended centrally at 400 mm distance from the top surface of the stand. Overall dimensions of the test stand are approximately 800x800x180 mm, the protected piąte has dimensions 650x650x5 mm, and the protective shield is of 450x450x76 mm dimensions. The system is supported by an additional steel plate stiffening the subsoil. FE modelling, numerical simulations and processing the results were performed for the system under blast shock wave using the following CAE systems: CATIA, HyperMesh, LS-Dyna, and LS-PrePost. The 8-nodes brick finite elements were used, taking into account friction and contact phenomena. Isotropic and orthotropic material models and advanced nonlinear equations-of-state for some parts of the system were chosen, with relevant failure and erosion criteria, including the Johnson — Cook model for Armox 500T steel and PA11 aluminum and the MAT 161 model for plies of hybrid laminates. The shock wave was modelled approximately using the LOAD BLAST ENHANCED option available in LS-Dyna Version 971 R4 Beta code. Numerical simulations were performed for 2 kg TNT.

We compare two bounded model checking methods for properties expressed in the existential fragment of Computation Tree Logic (Ectl). To this end we use the generic pipeline paradigm (GPP) and the train controller system (TC), the classic concurrency problems, which we formalise by means of a finite transition system. We consider several properties of the problems that can be expressed in Ectl logic, and we present the performance evaluation of the mentioned bounded model checking methods by means of the running time and the memory used.

In the/this paper a concept of an integrated information system for complex management of water networks is presented. The ICT system is under development at the Systems Research Institute (IBS PAN) in Warsaw for a couple of years and it is gradually tested in some Polish communal waterworks of differentiated size. Several waterworks management tasks requiring mathematical modelling, optimization and approximation algorithms can be solved using this system. Static optimization and multi-criteria algorithms are used for solving more complicated tasks like calibration of the water net hydraulic model, water net optimization and planning, control of pumps in the water net pump stations etc. [4] But some of the management tasks are simpler and can be performed by means of repetitive simulation runs of the water net hydraulic model. The water net simulation, planning of the SCADA system, calculation of water age and chlorine concentration in the water net, localization of hidden water leaks occurring in the network and planning of water net revitalization works are the examples of such tasks executed by the ICT system. They are described in this paper.

Opis:
The process of modelling and developing commonality and variability for system families should be supported by suitable methods and notations. The object-oriented methods and their notations, which are used at present, focus on the development of a single system at a time. In this paper we analyse feature models as a representation of the common parts and variants contained in a system family, and propose using a feature diagram as a basic representation of commonality, variability and dependencies. We examine various approaches to customizing the standard modelling language UML to model system families and propose how to extend the UML for the purposes of modelling variants in object-oriented analysis and design techniques. We recommend the use of UML standard lightweight extensibility mechanisms (stereotypes combined with tagged values) without changing the UML metamodel. This enables us to join the advantages of feature models with UML and provides the traceability of a concept throughout system development. An application of lightweight UML extension mechanisms allows the existing standard UML modelling tools to be used without any adaptations. An example of an application illustrates our approach.

In order to approximate discrete-event systems in which there exist considerable states and events, David and Alla define a continuous Petri net (CPN). So far, CPNs have been a useful tool not only for approximating discrete-event systems but also for modelling continuous processes. Due to different ways of calculating instantaneous firing speeds of transitions, various continuous Petri net models, such as the CCPN (constant speed CPN), VCPN (variable speed CPN) and the ACPN (asymptotic CPN), have been proposed, where the continuous flow is specified uniquely by maximal firing speeds. However, in applications such as chemical processes there exist situations where the continuous flow must be above some minimal speed or in the range of minimal and maximal speeds. In this paper, from the point of view of approximating a time Petri net, the CPN is augmented with maximal and minimal firing speeds, and a novel continuous model, i.e., the Interval speed CPN (ICPN) is defined. The enabling and firing semantics of transitions of the ICPN are discussed, and the facilitating of continuous transitions is classified into three levels: 0-level, 1-level and 2-level. Some policies to resolve the conflicts and algorithms to undertake the behavioural analysis for the ICPN are developed. In addition, a chemical process example is presented.

В статье представлена функциональная модель коммуникативного моделирования рациональных личностных конструктов подростков в специально спроектированных условиях учебно-воспитательного процесса. Рассмотрены теоретико-методологические кон- цепты реализации данной модели в контексте системно-интегративной научной парадигмы и генетико-моделирующего метода. Стратегическим вектором организации процесса моде- лирования личностных конструктов выбран формат рефлексивно-диалогического взаимо- действия в системе «педагог – подросток». Эмпирическая часть исследования представляет результаты анализа коррекционно-развивающего потенциала моделирования личностного профиля подростков в образовательном пространстве.
W artykule przedstawiono funkcjonalny model modelowania komunikatywnego konstruktów racjonalnych osobowości nastolatków w warunkach specjalnie zaprojektowanego procesu edukacyjnego. Omawiamy teoretyczne i metodologiczne koncepcje realizacji tego modelu w kontekście systemowo-integracyjnym naukowego paradygmatu i metody modelowania genetycznego. Czynnik strategiczny w organizacji konstruktów osobistych symulacji wybrano na podstawie interakcji odblaskowej dialogicznej w formacie: system „nauczyciel–nastolatki”. Część empiryczna pracy przedstawia wyniki analiz naprawczego rozwoju potencjalnego nastolatków modelowania profili osobowości w przestrzeni edukacyjnej.
The article presents a functional model of communicative modelling of teenagers’ rational personality constructs under the specially designed conditions of the educational process. The theoretical and methodological concepts of the implementation of this model in the context of the system and integrative scientific paradigm and genetic and modelling method were considered. The format of the reflective and dialogical interaction in the system “teacher–teenager” has been selected as the strategic vector of organization of the process of modelling personal constructs. The empirical part of the study presents the results of the analysis of correlation and developmental potential of the personality profile modelling of teenagers in the educational space.

In the article are presented chosen research results of influence of local defects in toothed gear on the vibroacoustic signal. Vibroacoustic methods of diagnostics are perfectly suitable to the task of monitoring the status of devices during their normal work. Monitoring of vibrations during operation is particular importance for industrial toothed gear as well gears working in the power transmission systems of aircrafts. Taken into account negative consequences of damages in toothed gears, determination of changes in vibroacoustic signal can prevent possible failures, and is therefore very important. Researches were performed with use residual signals created from synchronously averaged time signals generated by identified dynamic model of toothed gear working in circulating power system. Superior purpose of work is development of effectively methods of damage detection, especially in its early stages, what has great importance during operating aircrafts. The study shows that local damage of the wheels affects changes in the frequency distribution of vibroacoustic signals energy. The degree of damage significantly impacts to the possibility of detecting it on the basis of time signals analyses.

The real operation and maintenance processes of technical objects are characterised by so called secondary action, it means that the values of the features describing the process states and the analysed operation and maintenance states of technical objects as well as the after-effect ofthose states depend not only on their present state, but very often on the state or sequence of the previous states, too. In spite of the fact that the mathematical models of the real processes are intrinsically a significant simplification of the actual state, it however seems that omission of a secondary action in a certain class of operation and maintenance processes is an excessive simplification and the results obtained from investigations of models of that type may be affected by a significant error. The paper presents a model of operation and maintenance process of means of transport characterised by a secondary action as well as an example of computer simulation of performance of a stochastic process describing the features of the operation and maintenance process under analysis. The elaborated model of operation and maintenance process of technical objects takes into account the specificity of the systems of the urban bus transport. The computer simulation of the maintenance process enables, among other things, to estimate the values of the chosen indicators characterising the investigated process. On the basis of the analysis of the statistical data, obtained from the operation and maintenance investigations, the values of the essential input parameters of the model were estimated. The considerations presented in the paper include an assumption that it is possible to distinguish n disjoint subsets ofhomogenous objects, from the point of view of the investigation purpose, in the set of the technical objects being operated and maintained in the system under analysis. The investigation object is a system of operation and maintenance of means of transport.

This paper deals with the family of CMAC neural networks. The most important properties of this family are the extremely fast learning capability and a special architecture that makes effective digital hardware implementation possible. The paper gives an overview of the classical binary CMAC, shows the limitations of its modelling capability, gives a critical survey of its different extensions and suggests two further modifications. The aim of these modifications is to improve the modelling capability while maintaining the possibility of an effective realization. The basic element of the first suggested hardware structure is a new matrix-vector multiplier which is based on a canonical signed digit (CSD) number representation and a distributed arithmetic. In the other version, a hierarchical network structure and a special sequential training method are proposed which can constitute a trade-off between the approximation error and generalization. The proposed versions (among them a dynamic extension of the originally static CMAC) are suitable for embedded applications where the low cost and relatively high speed operation are the most important requirements.

The article presents a model of connection of ETCS application and classical base layer equipment. The model distinguishes three layers: physical, logic and data, which require different modelling techniques and at the same time must be consistent. The model will form the basis for the digital mapping in the Digital Twin of the ETCS application. Layer division is a natural way to represent the structure of a device and its operating rules. It allows a detailed and structured representation of the interfaces of a connection and then an analysis of the connection both with respect to the layer of interest and from the point of view of the interaction between features in the different layers. The S-interface of the LEU encoder of the ETCS is described, taking into account different solutions encountered in practice. The conditions of the connection between the LEU encoder and the environment form a description of one of the two boundaries between the ETCS application, i.e. the implemented ERTMS/ETCS on a specific area of the railway network, and the environment. A general connection model and definitions of a connection and an interface are presented. As an example, the electrical connection with signals transmitted through galvanic connections has been assumed to be typical for LEU encoder and track-side signalling control circuits found in base layer equipment. The physical layer is described in terms of physical parameters and their values. The parameters are divided into electrical (current, voltage and frequency) and mechanical ones (number of leads, conductor thickness, etc.). The values of the electrical parameters are expressed in terms of a uncountable set with defined limits. The logic layer was described in a vector-matrix form. Logic signals are assigned to electrical signals with specific physical parameters. The data layer contains information about the assignment of specific telegrams to specific electrical signals.

The decision making in complex economic systems, such as enterprises, is a difficult task and requires a proper approach. Most often it is connected with constructing of the proper model, where is possible to simulate the entire system operation from the heterogeneous entities point of view. The aim of the article is to introduce the issue of agent behaviour modellling in multi-agent simulation systems used in the management and indicate main determinants of agent (decision-maker) behaviour.

The paper presents the process of computer modeling to reconstruct the actual working conditions of the water supply network in Mońki, Białystok county. The calculations enabled to simulate the operation of the network and make decisions affecting the efficiency of the entire system. The EPANET 2.0 computer software, which was created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), was used in the research. It allows for periodic hydraulic simulations and provides an image of water operation in the pressure pipeline network. The study included the model of the evaluated network in terms of basic quality parameters such as flow velocity, pressure, unit losses, water age and operating conditions during the simulated network failure.

In the paper a heating system with a vapour compressor heat pump and vertical U-tube ground heat exchanger for small residential house is considered. A mathematical model of the system: heated object - vapour compressor heat pump - ground heat exchanger is presented shortly. The system investigated is equipped, apart from the heat pump, with the additional conventional source of heat. The processes taking place in the analyzed system are of unsteady character. The model consists of three elements; the first containing the calculation model of the space to be heated, the second the vertical U-tube ground heat exchanger with the adjoining area of the ground. The equations for the elements of vapour compressor heat pump form the third element of the general model. The period of one heating season is taken into consideration. The results of calculations for two variants of the ground heat exchanger are presented and compared. These results concern variable in time parameters at particular points of the system and energy consumption during the heating season. This paper presents the mutual influence of the ground heat exchanger subsystem, elements of vapour compressor heat pump and heated space.

Systemy kierowania i sterowania ruchem kolejowym (ksrk) zapewniają bezpieczne i efektywne prowadzenie ruchu kolejowego. Ich funkcjonalność oraz stopień integracji nieustannie rośnie wraz z rozszerzaniem zastosowania techniki komputerowej i teleinformatycznej do realizacji ich zadań. W Zakładzie Sterowania Ruchem Wydziału Transportu Politechniki Warszawskiej od kilkudziesięciu lat są prowadzone badania i prace rozwojowe w tym kierunku. Jednym z nurtów tych badań jest modelowanie systemów ksrk w celu porządkowania i definiowania ich struktur i funkcjonalności w oderwaniu od konkretnych rozwiązań dostarczanych przez producentów. W związku z obecnie prowadzonymi i zapowiadanymi przez PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. inwestycjami mającymi na celu wdrażanie systemu ERTMS, jak również innymi rozwiązaniami wprowadzanymi w Metrze Warszawskim, naturalnym wydaje się rozszerzenie modelu warstwowego ksrko rozwiązania wynoszące funkcjonalność sterowania ruchem na pokład pojazdu trakcyjnego. Rozwiązania te w sensie technicznym nie są nowością, jednak nie doczekały się jeszcze uogólnienia w wymiarze modelowym. Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą wypełniania tej luki.
Systems of the railway traffic management and control (rtmc) provide safe and efficient traffic supervision. Their functionality as well as scope of integration permanently increases with support from computer technology and nowadays telecommunication solutions. The Team of Railway Traffic Control, Faculty of Transport, Warsaw University of Technology has been working on analysis of that class of systems since 80-ies. One part of that research is modelling of rtmc structures and functionality. The goal of this work is generalization and abstraction. Nowadays investments executed by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. will change the scope of rtmc systems regarding on-bord systems. This article presents the extension of the rtmc model covering these changes.

The paper contains the results of research on the impact of the number of factors used to build the Day-Ahead Market model at Polish Power Exchange S.A. Five models with a different number of factors influencing the model were tested. To test the quality of models according to the adopted evaluation criteria, i.e., mean square error and the coefficient of determination for the weighted average prices sold in a given hour of the day, the influence of weather factors, socio-economic factors and energy demand were adopted. The results obtained from the analysis show a relatively high correctness of the simplest of the adopted models, which differs slightly from the best model.

The article presents a discussion on designing warehouse facilities and processes as a part of logistics systems. The main technical and organizational conditions of designing and modelling warehouses as well as internal and external factors influencing warehouse operation are presented. The stochastic nature of these factors is indicated. In the next part, a six-piece model of the warehouse facility is presented and discussed. The model embraces spatial conditions of the object and hierarchical division of space for functional reasons, internal transport subsystem with its resources, warehousing process and a set of organizational assumptions for modelling and designing. Typical elements of warehousing process, classification of warehouses due to their functions and tasks, functional classification of warehouse facilities, technological and organizational conditions of designing warehouse facilities, warehouse designing loop, the determinants of warehouse designing, the elements of the model of a warehouse, functional structure of a warehouse, warehousing process, internal transport system, logistics task, work organization rules and informatics system are presented in the paper.

The paper presents design and implementation of the hybrid system, which is the part of investigation focused on application of multiscale modeling in simulation of real industrial processes. The hybrid system is dedicated to support production processes based on metal forming, by using artificial intelligence and optimization algorithms. The proposed system is based on the multilayer architecture and consists of several functional components responsible for management of production process, modeling and simulations and, finally, optimization. The latter module aims at searching for optimial parameters of selected production processes, which form production chain, i.e. rod rolling and cold forging. Optimization is performed using results obtained from multiscale modeling calculations. Then, the optimized approach is passed directly to the configuration and control centre of the real industrial process as a feedback to obtain better quality of products employing lower costs of manufacturing. Moreover, the hybrid system is designed to exchange information with other external systems implemented inside an enterprise e.g. ERP and its modules. The internal structure of presented system is described in the paper, as well as measurable advantages of hybrid system application to real environment.

Ticket tariff is an important factor influencing the demand for public transport. Among basic problematics regarding ticket tariffs are designing new fare systems and optimization of current systems. The task of optimization is influenced by two main factors: ticket prices and the structure of the tariff. Both elements were researched in this article, based on eleven public transport organizers fare systems in Poland – metropolitan areas and cities of a different scale. The purpose of this article was to define basic tariff types used in urban and regional public transport with a presentation of their function models. Ticket tariffs split into two main groups: flat and differential. Differential group of tariffs covers: distance (usually are encountered fares based on a number of kilometres or stops travelled), quality (e.g. different fares on basic and express lines), time (minutes, hours or days of ticket validity, but also different tariff during on-peak and off-peak hours), sections (between which passenger travel on a transit route) and zones (transport network divided into areas, e.g. designated by municipalities boundaries) tariffs. The concept of this study was to transform as many tariffs as possible from tabular form to the mathematical function. Five types of functions were considered for each tariff schematic: linear, power, polynomial, logarithmic and exponential. Functions and associated with them R-squared parameters were obtained as a result of re-gression analysis. The paper indicates that for time, distance and flat tariffs conformity (R2) was in most cases very high and above 0,90. The results indicate that the power function best describes time tariffs. In the case of distance tariffs, different kind of functions can be used: logarithmic, power or polynomial. The proposed function form of tariffs may speed up the process of creating new fare systems or upgrading existing ones. With general knowledge about the structure of tariffs and their function forms, it would be easier to determine the price of different kinds of tickets. New fare integration solutions could be also proposed in the future by using Big Data analysis.

Analiza i kwantyfikacja ryzyka przeprowadzona została z wykorzystaniem modelowania rozmytego w środowisku MATLAB oraz modelowania i symulacji komputerowej w środowisku ADONIS. Przedstawiono przykład kwantyfikacji i hierarchizacji ryzyka na przykładzie rzeczywistego projektu realizowanego w branży energetycznej z wykorzystaniem Rozmytych Systemów Wnioskujących. W przedstawionym przykładzie pokazano wykorzystanie symulacji w programie ADONIS w celu oszacowania wpływu ryzyk na czas i koszt projektu. W pracy nie analizowano wpływu ryzyka na pozostałe cele projektu, tj. zakres, jakość.
The paper presents the problem of project risk management with particular emphasis on the risk assessment. The authors describe own approach to quantitative risk assessment. The proposed approach combine fuzzy modeling in MATLAB environments and modeling in ADONIS environment. The proposed approach has been applied for quantification and prioritization of project risk. An practical example of project has been presented in a chosen enterprise from energy industry. The sources of data used in the example were collected from interview surveys with project experts. Fuzzy Inference Systems are used to identify and assess potential risks. The risks were modelling in ADONIS. The authors used simulation in this system to assess the impact of risks on time and cost of the project. The author did not assess the impact of project risk on the another project aims, ie. scope and quality.

Modelling and simulation investigations of a car non-linear dynamics with regard to freeplay (backlash in steering gear) and friction (kinetic and static friction in king-pins) is always a challenge for researchers. Fortunately, by special luz(...) and tar(...) projections and their mathematical apparatus the elaborated models and simulation procedures of stick-slip phenomena in a steering system are managed in efficient forms (without any entangle constraints) even for optimization and sensitivity studies. Exactly, the presented studies deal with problems of sensitivity of optimized maneuvers for vehicle models considering freeplay / friction effects. Double lane change maneuvers (overtaking and avoiding) are discussed. A criterion function refers to several evaluations (precision of maneuver, calm steering, feeling of comfortable travel). The optimization of steering wheel angle signal is done on a reference model with "nominal" freeplay and friction parameters. Such input signal is applied to a "real" vehicle having "real" freeplay and friction parameters. The differences of output signals as well as differences between criterion function values are a subject of sensitivity analysis. The sensitivity of reference models on a variation of freeplay and friction parameters appears as important from theoretical as well as practical points of view. The paper takes up the problems of sensitivity analysis of steering system model applied for synthesis steering algorithms for a double lane change maneuver.

This paper presents the results of thermodynamic analyses of a system using a horizontal ground heat exchanger to cool a residential building in summer and heat it in the autumn-winter period. The main heating device is a vapour compression heat pump with the ground as the lower heat source. The aim of the analyses is to examine the impact of heat supply to the ground in the summer period, when the building is cooled, on the operation of the heating system equipped with a heat pump in the next heating season, including electricity consumption. The processes occurring in cooling and heating systems have an unsteady nature. The main results of the calculations are among others the time-dependent values of heat fluxes extracted from or transferred to the ground heat exchanger, the fluxes of heat generated by the heat pump and supplied to the heated building by an additional heat source, the parameters in characteristic points of the systems, the temperature distributions in the ground and the driving electricity consumption in the period under analysis. The paper presents results of analysis of cumulative primary energy consumption of the analyzed systems and cumulative emissions of harmful substances.

In the wake of much needed energy transformation, European Union urges member states to take action for supporting microgeneration. As Poland introduced novel to Renewable Energy Act in mid-2018, microgeneration systems of up to 50 kWe installed can benefit from a prosumer scheme. This paper investigates scenarios for installation of a hybrid system composed of a microcogeneration unit and a photovoltaic installation, applied to an existing public building located in northern Poland. The building is heated by a 32 kW oil-fired boiler and gets all it’s 60.9 MWh of the annual electricity needs from the distribution system operator grid. The actual state was assumed as a reference scenario. The microgeneration unit is composed of a wood pellet-fired boiler of 25 kW nameplate capacity and the linear free piston Stirling engine of 1 kW electric nameplate power. The microcogeneration unit works together with 24 kWp rooftop photovoltaic system, configured in East-West setup. Modelling heat and power demand and production via the energy conversion units was conducted in the commercial modelling software package. The models were built based on the actual data and time series for external weather conditions. Two scenarios were analysed – one where the basic setup of microcogeneration unit and photovoltaic system is topped up with 3 m3 buffer tank and another, where instead of buffer, 10 kW electrical boiler is used for peak loads. Relevant simplified investment and operation expenditures were calculated over a period of 10 years. Calculations proved that despite very little electricity surpluses available for the prosumer support scheme, both scenarios bring positive cash flows within 5.5 and 7.1 years, respectively.

The subject of the paper is the Bialystok water supply network. The studies on the Bialystok water supply network are aimed at identifying new, more rational ways of operation (decreasing the pressure value) and defining the conditions for expansion and modernization of the water supply network, with the particular system analysis as a part of identifying the most dangerous places on the network. The increase of requirements concerning the quality and the time of realisation in the scope of the design studies requires the introduction of computer technology in calculations. The work presents the processes based on mapping and refinement of specific conservative states of the water distribution system (SDW), using mathematical modelling taking into account the latest available computer techniques.

This contribution discusses the usefulness of (max, +) algebra as a mathematical framework for a class of manufacturing systems. This class can be described as dynamic and asynchronous, where the state transitions are initiated by events that occur at di screte instants of time. An event corresponds to the start or the end of an activity. Such systems are known as discrete event systems (DES). An overview of the concepts of modelling and analysis using the (max, +) algebra approach to DES has been given. Also, examples of manufacturing systems have been provided to illustrate the potential of this approach. The type of production process used, such as serial line, assembly line, etc., influences the modelling of different basic manufacturing systems. We have also presented the impact of the capacity of interoperable buffers. Based on an analytical model, effectiveness and performance indexes have been evaluated.

The advancing emissions requirements and the customer demand for increased performance and fuel efficiency are forcing the diesel engine technology to keep improving. In particular, the large diesel engines are undergoing to a significant restriction in emission standards. Reaching the new limits requires innovative solutions, improved calibration and controls of the engine combustion technology, as well as the optimization of the injection system that has experienced the most fundamental development over the last decade. The objective of the paper is to present preliminary results of an investigation for the development of an efficient combustion system for marine diesel engines. The effect of different engine parameters on performance and engine out emissions were evaluated. Specifically, different nozzle geometries, injection pressure, injection timings were taken into account. The investigation was carried out both experimentally and numerically. Three different nozzles geometries for three different values of the start of injection were tested. The in-cylinder pressure, rate of heat release, NOx and soot were evaluated for a high load engine condition. The experimental activity was carried out on a large displacement single cylinder direct injection diesel engine equipped with a high-pressure common rail injection system able to manage multiple injections. The engine test bench was equipped with an external air supercharger able to set high air boost levels. The system controls the intake air temperature by means of a heater exchanger. The numerical investigation was carried out using the commercial CFD STAR-CD code in a three-dimensional domain including the cylinder head and piston bowl. Combustion behaviour was simulated using the 3 Zones Extended Coherent Flame Model (ECFM3Z).

To analyse the behaviour of marine diesel engines in unsteady states for different purposes, for example to determine the fuel consumption or emissions level, to adjust the control strategy, to manage the maintenance, etc., a goal-based mathematical model that can be easily implemented for simulation is necessary. Such a model usually requires a wide range of operating data, measured on a test stand. This is a time-consuming process with high costs and the relevant data are not available publicly for a selected engine. The present paper delivers a rapid and relatively simple method for preparing a simulation model of a given marine diesel engine, based only on the widely available data in the project guides indicated for steady state conditions. After establishing the framework of the mathematical model, it describes how the parameters of the model can be adjusted for the simulation model and how the results can be verified as well. Conceptually, this is a trial and error method, but the presented case example makes clear how the parameters can be selected to reduce the number of trials and quickly determine the model parameters. The necessary descriptions are given through a case study, which is the MAN-B&W 8S65ME-C8 marine diesel engine. The engine is assumed to be connected to a constant pitch propeller. The presented mathematical model is a mean-value zero-dimensional type with seven state variables. The other variables of the engine are determined based on the state independent variables and the input value, which is the fuel rate. The paper can be used as a guideline to prepare a convenient mathematical model for simulation, with the minimum publicly available data.

This paper presents the concept of the modelling methodology of a payload-vessel system allowing for a comprehensive investigation of mutual interactions of the system dynamics for lifting in the air. The proposed model consists of six degrees of freedom (6-DoF) vessel and three degrees of freedom (3-DoF) lifting model that can replace the industrial practice based on a simplified approach adopted for light lifts. Utilising the response amplitude operators (RAOs) processing methodology provides the ability to incorporate the excitation functions at the vessel crane tip as a kinematic and analyse a wide spectrum of lifted object weights on a basis of regular wave excitation. The analytical model is presented in detail and its solution in a form of numerical simulation results are provided and discussed within the article. The proposed model exposes the disadvantages of the models encountered in engineering practice and literature and proposes a novel approach enabling efficient studies addressing a lack of access to reliable modelling tools in terms of coupled models for offshore lifting operations planning.

A sliding mode controller for the photovoltaic pumping system has been proposed in this paper. This system is composed of a?photovoltaic generator supplying a?three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor coupled to a?centrifugal pump through a?three-phase voltage inverter. The objective of this study is to minimise the number of regulators and apply the sliding mode control by exploiting the specification of the field oriented control scheme (FOC). The first regulator is used to force the photovoltaic generator to operate at the maximum power point, while the second is used to provide the field oriented control to improve the system performance.The whole system is analysed and its mathematical model is done. Matlab is used to validate the performance and robustness of the proposed control strategy.

Based on the results of tests of the monorail transport system using suspended diesel locomotives with traditional transport beams and with the use of an innovative system of transport beams for the delivery of heavy loads, it was found that to reduce the dynamics of the load to the elements of the suspended route segments fastened to the arches of the arch support, it is beneficial to use the proposed an innovative technical solution that increases the reliability of the route catches to the support arches, which is important when transporting heavy loads. The new solution significantly reduces the dynamic loads to the route catches to the support arches by redistributing the load over a greater number of sections of the suspended monorail route. It has been proven that during the period of intensification of preparatory work, these technical solutions make it possible to keep to the timely preparation of new mining pillars and are perceived as a promising direction for improving the existing transport system for the mines of the region and ensuring the operational parameters of mining transport equipment at a high technical level in the specific conditions of the mines of Western Donbass.

Growing pressure to improve the performance of IC engines has resulted in development of improved control systems. These requirements, combined with the introduction of control algorithms that could only be simulated experimentally were the foundations of control-oriented modelling techniques. The paper presents the assumptions and requirements toward control oriented models and a model of an idling SI engine. Some results of identification and verification tests of the model are presented for the 1.5 GLI engine. On the basis of the engine model, the simulation of sensor failures had been carried out.
Rosnące wymagania stawiane silnikom spalinowym przyczyniają się do wprowadzania nowych systemów sterowania Wymagania te związane są z opracowaniem nowych algorytmów sterowania, które powinny być wyznaczane drogą eksperymentalną i w postaci modelowania. Artykuł przedstawia przyjęte założenia i wymagania dotyczące modelowania w aspekcie sterowania wolnych obrotów silnika. Wybrane badania identyfikacji i weryfikacji w postaci testów przeprowadzono dla modelu silnika 1.5 GLI. Na bazie modelu silnika przeprowadzono symulacje typowych uszkodzeń czujników.

The paper put forward a thesis that modelling dissymmetric non-linear multi-bolted connections as a system is possible. Modelling of the systems composed of four subsystems on the assembly state was presented. These subsystems included: a couple of joined elements (a flange and a support), a contact layer between them, and bolts. The physical model of the system was described considering the tightening of bolts according to a specific sequence. In this model: the flange and the support were built using spatial finite elements, the contact layer was formed as the non-linear Winkler model, and the bolts were replaced with simplified models made of flexible beams. The calculation model which can be applied to determine the changes in bolt forces, as well as in the normal contact pressure between the joined elements during the tightening of the system and at its end, was presented. The results of sample calculations for the selected multi-bolted system were shown.

There are given the formulae estimating the probabilities of the climate-weather change process staying at the particular climate-weather states at the initial moment, the probabilities of the climate-weather change transitions between the climate-weather states and the parameters of the distributions suitable and typical for the description of the climate-weather change process conditional sojourn times at the particular climate-weather states. The proposed statistical methods applications for the unknown parameters identification of the climate-weather change process model determining the climate-weather change process parameters for the initial point of the port oil piping transportation system are presented.

GIS data processing techniques are currently being used to revise many ideas in the field of geomorphology and related scienc-es. The paper presents the characteristics of the landform relief of the Mroga and Mrożyca interfluvial area (on the northern margin zone of the Łódź Plateau) based on the results of GIS spatial analysis models. These are techniques that have not been used so far for such a detailed fragment of the Łódź Plateau. The aim of this paper was to show the possibility of detailing topographic and geomorphological analysis and re-imagining the features of the Łódź Plateau relief on the example of a case study of the Mroga and Mrożyca interfluvial area. In this case, the use of GIS modelling confirmed the main features of the strongly transformed relief of the Mroga and Mrożyca interfluvial area, which is a result of overlapping elements of relief formed during the Warta stadial of the Odra Glaciation and further, during periods of the Vistulian and Holocene morphogenesis.

The paper presents capabilities of Enterprise Dynamics software in modelling and simulation of production process in job-shop conditions. The modelled production process was conducted on the total of 8 machine tools representing 5 different types. The conducted simulation represented production of three types of parts in an alternating sequence of jobs according to the technological machine sequence. The production process of the developed model was controlled by means of 4D Script programming language.

A fault diagnosis scheme for unknown nonlinear dynamic systems with modules of residual generation and residual evaluation is considered. Main emphasis is placed upon designing a bank of neural networks with dynamic neurons that model a system diagnosed at normal and faulty operating points.To improve the quality of neural modelling, two optimization problems are included in the construction of such dynamic networks: searching for an optimal network architecture and the network training algorithm. To find a good solution, the effective well-known cascade-correlation algorithm is adapted here. The residuals generated by a bank of neural models are then evaluated by means of pattern classification. To illustrate the effectiveness of our approach, two applications are presented: a neural model of Narendra's system and a fault detection and identification system for the two-tank process.

Electric power steering (EPS) systems are important ingredients of modern cars. Basing on mechanic (steering mechanism), electric (electric motor), electronic (controller) and mechatronic (sensors) components, they are typical servo mechanic devices, which support drivers handling action. The paper presents mathematical modelling of EPS systems treated as multi body mechanisms with power assistance, including strong non-linear phenomena caused by a friction (especially in king-pins) and a feeplay (in gear-box). Mathematical model consists of several variable structure ordinary differential equations with piecewise linear characteristics. Model non-linearities are described with using special piecewise linear luz (…) and tar(...) projections. These projections and their original mathematical apparatus facilitate synthesis and analysis of the model. The model equations are derived from constitutive equations and control rules. This method can be also applied for synthesis of other non-linear multi-body electromechanical systems. The elaborated models of EPS systems have the forms ready to use in simulation programs. Some examples of simulation studies of the open car tests due to sensitivity analysis of steering system model are also presented in the paper.

The effect of the method and accuracy of modelling automatic control systems of generating units on parameters of the power system stability evaluation has been investigated. The evaluation parameters are the following: values of the critical short-circuit time tkr, and corresponding to them values of the stability margin kt,, and the regulation times t50% and t15%. The obtained results make an attempt at establishing the effect of the way generating units are modelled on the conclusions following from the power system stability analyses.
Autorzy przedstawili badanie wpływu sposobu i dokładności modelowania układów automatycznej regulacji nowych bloków wytwórczych na wskaźniki oceny stabilności systemu elektroenergetycznego. Wskaźnikami oceny są czasy krytyczne trwania zwarcia tkr, odpowiadające im współczynniki zapasu stabilności kt, czasy połowienia t50% oraz czasy regulacji t15%. Zaprezentowane wyniki badań są próbą rozstrzygnięcia, jaki wpływ na wnioski wynikające z analiz stabilności ma sposób modelowania bloków wytwórczych.

Two-dimensional stationary problem of heat conduction and thermoelasticity for infinite elastic body containing periodic system of inclusions and cracks is considered. Solution of the problem is constructed using the method of singular integral equations (SIEs). The numerical solution of the system integral equations are obtained by the method of mechanical quadrature for a plate heated by a heat flow, containing periodic system elliptic inclusions and thermally insulated cracks. There are obtained graphic dependences of stress intensity factors (SIFs), which characterise the distribution of intensity of stresses at the tops of a crack, depending on the length of crack, elastic and thermoelastic characteristics inclusion, relative position of crack and inclusion.

Eksperyment miał na celu porównanie skutków zużywania mechanicznego i ścierno-mechanicznego węzła tribologicznego przy zastosowaniu dwóch rodzajów próbek różniących się kształtem powierzchni roboczej. Badania przeprowadzono w dwóch etapach, pierwszym, w którym wartość zużycia była rezultatem zużywania tylko mechanicznego i drugim, w którym do układu jako dodatkowy czynnik ścierny, dodano ścierniwo, a efektem tego procesu było zużycie ścierno-mechaniczne.
The paper presents some results of model investigations of mechanical and abrasive wear. The research was carried out for different shape of sliding surface. The tests were carried out in two methodical variants. In the first one wear was the effect of mechanical wear only (without abrasive) and in the second one abrasive was introduced to the friction connection as a friction factor. The wear characteristics were compared.

This paper deals with a quadrature-booster phase shifter for power flow control and for transient stability improvement in AC transmission systems. The PWM AC bipolar matrix chopper (MC) is proposed for the control of the qudrature voltage component of the original voltage. There are presented in this paper both steady and transient state analyses of a transmission system with passive load based on averaged circuit models. Furthermore, simulation and experimental test results obtained in a three-phase 3 kVA laboratory model are also presented.

The main purpose of this study was to develop a mathematical model, in a steady state and dynamic mode, of a Catalytic Partial Oxidation (CPOx ) reformer – Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) stack integrated system in order to assess the system performance. Mass balance equations were written for each component in the system together with energy equation and implemented into the MATLAB Simulink simulation tool. Temperature, gas concentrations, pressure and current density were computed in the steady-state mode and validated against experimental data. The calculated I–V curve matched well the experimental one. In the dynamic modelling, several different conditions including step changes in fuel flow rates, stack voltage as well as temperature values were applied to estimate the system response against the load variations. Results provide valuable insight into the operating conditions that have to be achieved to ensure efficient CPOx  performance for fuel processing for the SOFC stack applications.

In the paper, there are presented the methods for identification of the critical infrastructure operation process on the basis of statistical data coming from this process realizations related to the critical infrastructure operating environment threats. These are the methods and procedures for estimating the unknown basic parameters of the critical infrastructure operation process semi-Markov model and identifying the distributions of the critical infrastructure operation process conditional critical infrastructure operation process sojourn times at the particular operation states. There are given the formulae estimating the probabilities of the critical infrastructure operation process straying at the particular operation states at the initial moment, the probabilities of the critical infrastructure operation process transitions between the operation states. Moreover, there are given formulae for the estimator of unknown parameters of the distributions suitable and typical for the description of the critical infrastructure operation process conditional sojourn times at the operation states. Namely, the parameters of the uniform distribution, the triangular distribution, the double trapezium distribution, the quasi-trapezium distribution, the exponential distribution, the Weibull’s distribution and the chimney distribution are estimated using the statistical methods such as the method of moments and the maximum likelihood method. The chi-square goodness-of-fit test is described and proposed to be applied to verifying the hypotheses about these distributions choice validity. The procedure of statistical data sets uniformity analysis based on Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is proposed to be applied to the empirical conditional sojourn times at the operation states coming from different realizations of the same critical infrastructure operation process.

Modern light rail vehicles, such as a tram or rail bus, due to the need to provide mobility for the elderly or disabled people and the requirements of operators operating passenger rail transport or transport in urban areas must have a 100% low floor. Structurally, this is associated with the use of wheelset with independently rotating wheels (IRW) in such vehicles. It is also possible to use a bogie structure without the use of a wheelset axle by mounting the wheels directly in the side parts of the bogie frame. This construction is more complex and will not be discussed in this article. Bearing in mind the dynamic behavior of such vehicles during operation (lateral stability, profile wear) in various driving conditions (curve traffic, crossovers) and taking into account operating costs, it becomes necessary to install wheel rotation control systems to maintain center movement mass of the wheelset around the centerline of the track. The subject of the article will be considerations on modeling and simulation of rail vehicle bogie motion with IRW sets including the wheel control system. Nominal and mathematical models of the analyzed vehicle will be presented, as well as a controlled strategy based on the comparison of the angular velocities of the wheels of the wheelset A review of works on solutions of such systems will be presented, and a control concept will be proposed. The summary contains conclusions regarding the possibility of practical use of the proposed method of steering wheels of a wheelset in the case of independently rotating wheels.

Operation and maintenance of technical objects is related to occurrence of various events, the effects of which affect the operation and maintenance process course, and particularly the courses of their use and service processes. Occurrence of those events may be of both determined and random nature. Assessing, analysing and forecasting the operation and maintenance process course, in complex technical systems, are connected with the problems of modelling the operation and maintenance processes of technical objects. Those processes are random ones which depend on one another. The paper presents an example of the Markov decision process to model changes of the analysed operation and maintenance states of technical objects. The investigation object is a real operation and maintenance system of urban transport buses in a middle-sized agglomeration (about 400 k residents). Supporting a decision maker, in the process of making decisions concerning performance of the operation and maintenance process of the means of transport, may be carried out by analysing the results of the investigations of the operation and maintenance process model. The investigations of that type are to determine values of the selected measures of technical and economic efficiency of the process being carried out for the estimated values of the model parameters. The values of the model parameters were estimated on the basis of the analysis of the results of the investigations performed in the analysed system of urban bus transport. A change to the values of the model parameters may reflect a change of influence of internal and external factors on behaviour of the system and the operation and maintenance process of the means of transport being carried out in it. Mathematical models of the operation and maintenance processes are intrinsically simplified, therefore practical conclusions resulting from investigating those models should be formulated carefully.

With the development of microprocessors, actuators and structural micro-components, new concepts of micro-electro-mechanical systems/machines are constantly being introduced. One of the consequences of this tendency is seeking for best techniques to connect metal micro-components. Because of tools simplicity, no additional fastening parts and the undisturbed structure of the material, clinching appears to be a promising method for joining in micro-scale. A procedure for the analysis of micro-clinching process is proposed in the paper, and unique, support flexible tooling system designed. This system allows to easily change key parameters of the process. With the use of flexible micro-tooling, a successful micro-clinching of silver sheets of thickness 0.18 mm has been conducted. An effective numerical method - Rapid Numerical Strength Test - for modelling the process of tearing the joints has been presented. Compliance of key phenomena recognized in modelling with experimental results was obtained.
Wraz z rozwojem mikroprocesorów, siłowników i mikroskładników strukturalnych stale wprowadzane są nowe koncepcje systemów/maszyn mikroelektromechanicznych. Jedną z konsekwencji tej tendencji jest poszukiwanie najlepszych technik łączenia mikrokomponentów metalowych. Biorąc pod uwagę prostotę narzędzi, brak dodatkowych elementów mocujących i niezakłóconą strukturę materiału, klinczowanie wydaje się być obiecującą metodą łączenia w mikroskali. W artykule zaproponowano procedurę analizy procesu mikro-klinczowania oraz zaprojektowano unikalny, wspierający elastyczny system narzędziowy. System ten pozwala na łatwą zmianę kluczowych parametrów procesu. Dzięki zastosowaniu elastycznego mikro-oprzyrządowania przeprowadzono udane mikro-klinczowanie blach srebrnych o grubości 0,18 mm. Przedstawiono skuteczną metodę numeryczną - Rapid Numerical Strength Test - do modelowania procesu rozrywania złączy. Uzyskano zgodność kluczowych zjawisk rozpoznanych w modelowaniu z wynikami eksperymentalnymi.
