Filipiak et al. emphasizes that psychological assessment in a broad sense is an inevitable part of psychologists’ occupation regardless of whether or not psychological tests are used. Also, competence in the area of psychological assessment is not independent of competence in specific areas of psychological practice. This is the reason why general education in psychological assessment is not sufficient to gain assessment competence; still, it can be a solid basis for improving the quality of assessment in specific areas of psychology.

The research aims to present the psychological concept of civic identity formation, namely author's view on the nature of civic identity, the stages and psychological mechanisms of civic identity formation. Methods. A system of general scientific methods was used: analysis and synthesis of the main provisions of research sources on the study of civic identity as a complex multidimensional personality formation, comprehension of the psychological foundations of civic identity, systematization and generalization of scientific provisions on the stages and mechanisms of identity. Results. It is proposed to consider civic identity as a kind of organizational identity, which is self-determination in the organizational environment of the state, as well as self-identification with the role of a citizen and is the primary psychological regulator of civic behavior. The main stages of civic identity formation are: perceptual-systemic, normative-community and individual-integrational. The main mechanisms of formation of civic identity are: internalization of stereotypes and attitudes of citizenship; imitation of models of civic behavior; individuation of the meanings (sense) of citizenship; exteriorization of stereotypes, attitudes and patterns of civic behavior; implementation of the experience of interaction with the state and fellow citizens; comprehension of one's own citizenship. Conclusions. Formation of civic identity (civic protoidentity – reproductive civic identity – productive civic identity) is a dynamic process that has staged nature as it involves a series of successive stages, at each of which civic identity undergoes qualitative changes and is formed as an individual's awareness and reflection of his/her place, role and degree of activity in the system of interaction with other citizens and the state.

A specific problem in the work of a psychologist is caring for the voluntary participation of patients and clients in research. The first part of the article presents and scientifically analyzed the term "voluntary". The concept in opposition to voluntariness is arbitrariness. An arbitrary person is characterized by an optional attitude. Voluntariness, in turn, is an attitude of active participation in one's own life and the surrounding reality. The second part of the article deals with the issue of voluntariness in psychological research. The psychologist must obtain an informed and voluntary decision by the patient regarding his or her participation in the research. The examined person has the right to withdraw from the research at any time. People addicted to alcohol and drugs constitute a specific research group. In the third part of the article, attention was paid to voluntary research of students and children. A special place and significance is played by voluntary activity in research conducted by an academic psychologist on their own students. Voluntariness in children involves not only the cognitive but also the emotional sphere. Therefore, the psychologist must first obtain the child's parents' written consent to participate in the research.

This paper highlights the manner in which contemporary psychological horror games rely on repetitive storylines and plot twists, resulting in predictability of new titles, and the way in which this negatively affects immersion and players' emotional investment. Through examining the game Blair Witch (2019) developed by Polish studio Bloober Team, and its inclusion of an animal companion, the article demonstrates how shifting the players' affective identification from the avatar to the companion character can cause the players to overlook the shortcomings of the game. At the same time, by juxtaposing Blair Witch with other similar digital game texts, the paper showcases how linearity and reliance on predictable tropes in a game can be masked by the effective inclusion of an interesting companion with appropriate mechanics.
Artykuł poświęcony jest zauważalnej we współczesnych grach z gatunki psychological horror tendencji do polegania na wielokrotnie powielanych strukturach fabularnych oraz wynikającej z tego przewidywalności fabularnej nowych tytułów pojawiających się na rynku, jak również negatywnemu wpływowi tejże tendencji na immersję i zaangażowanie emocjonalne graczy. Poprzez analizę gry Blair Witch (2019) polskiego studia Bloober Team, a w szczególności wprowadzenia postaci towarzyszącej graczowi - psa - do rozgrywki, artykuł objaśnia, w jaki sposób przesunięcie identyfikacji afektywnej z postaci awatara na postać towarzyszącą może sprawić, że gracze nie zwrócą uwagi na słabe punkty gry. Jednocześnie zestawienie Blair Witch z innymi podobnymi grami cyfrowymi pozwala zilustrować to, w jaki sposób włączenie do rozgrywki interesującej postaci towarzyszącej może maskować linearną fabułę i stosowanie przewidywalnych schematów i motywów w grze cyfrowej.

The analysis of the development of the situation around Ukraine gives every reason to assert that today Ukraine is faced with such a form of military operations as hybrid warfare. A characteristic feature of hybrid warfare is that the information, psychological, economic and military components are the basis for its conduct. The article is devoted to a meaningful analysis of the information and psychological component of modern hybrid wars. The content of the information-psychological component is revealed through such concepts as ‘information war’, ‘psychological war’, ‘information-psychological confrontation’ and ‘information-psychological influence’.

This paper has two purposes. From the personal side, the topic was chosen because I am interested in the history of psychological operations. To benefit the reader, I address psychological operations in selected military conflicts after the Second World War in order to consider this issue. The goal of this study is to depict examples of the psychological operations conducted after World War II as part of military operations and examine the increasing importance of these issues to all involved in the battle. The article describes methods and means of psychological activities carried out by both sides in conflicts against both soldiers and civilians. Most attention in the article is devoted to the potential of the United States, which is without doubt a leader in the development of psychological operations. US PSYOP equipment is the most sophisticated and covers a broad spectrum of diverse technological means of influence. It results especially from the permanent engagement of US troops in military activities in various parts of the world after the end of World War II. Psychological operations have been an essential element of warfare since ancient times. The purpose of psychological operations is to induce or reinforce foreign attitudes and behaviour favourable to the originator’s objectives. It has been used throughout history to influence foreign groups and leaders. Moreover, psychological operations targeted the enemy’s will to fight. In various conflicts after World War II, we can observe more and more attention being paid to psychological operations. Today we can observe a revolution in PSYOP capabilities. This is related to the development of modern technologies, especially the internet, which gives new opportunities for information transfer.

This article examines questions dealing with the 'psychological contract,' indicating changes taking place in its essence. Consideration concentrates on the causes and directions of transformation in the informal relations of mutual expectations with respect to various aspects of the job situation and organizational employee-employer functions. Analysis of topical literature allows the conclusion that changes in the paradigm are universal and stresses the importance of this fact with respect to HR departments and the employees themselves.

Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie terminologii związanej z wojną psychologiczną, omówienie problemów związanych z jej definiowaniem oraz przedstawienie podstawowych sposób jej prowadzenia, jako elementu polityki państwa. Zostaną w nim omówione historyczne oraz obecnie funkcjonujące definicje pojęcia wojna psychologiczna i zjawisk z nią związanych, w szczególności wojny informacyjnej, propagandy, dyplomacji publicznej, informacji międzynarodowej. Wojna psychologiczna jest stałym elementem współczesnej rzeczywistości międzynarodowej, wyjaśnienie związanych z nią definicji może ułatwić analizę zjawiska i prowadzenie dalszych badań w tym zakresie. Zestawienie ze sobą definicji funkcjonujących na Zachodzie oraz naszkicowanie rosyjskiego podejścia do tego zagadnienia może z kolei pomóc lepiej zrozumieć różnice w pojmowaniu i prowadzeniu wojny psychologicznej, jakie występują między Rosją, a państwami NATO, w szczególności Stanami Zjednoczonymi.
This article will present terminology about psychological warfare, questions about its definition and major methods of conducting, as important element of states policies. In the article will be discussed historical and contemporary definitions of psychological warfare and related matters, like for example information warfare, propaganda, public diplomacy, international information. Psychological warfare is permanent element of contemporary inernational relations. Explanation of its definitions could help to analyse this phanomen and to conduct further research on this area. A comparison of Western definitions and Russian point of view on this question could help to better understand diferences in percepction and conducting of psychological warfaer between Russia and NATO countries, first of them USA.

Following the principle that “transport does not carry the goods, people do”, this study identifies the problematical aspects of professional experience of seafarers as people of maritime transport, as well as personalities in terms of expression of their psychological defense mechanisms and their insights into the possibilities for self-management. The type of the research is a qualitative, pilot and expert study, which has indicated that seafarers are able to recognize their psychological defense mechanisms and can define them quite clearly on the basis of their personal experience of living and working on board a ship. The abilities of seafarers’ intellectual consideration about their experience are acceptable from a point of view of scientific, namely, psychoeducational logic. The development of self-leadership and transformational leadership skills may help to partially control defensive reactions, and should be an appropriate tool to psychologically stabilize the seafarers’ professional activities in terms of possibilities to create more constructive relationships among them in a team while achieving the common purpose of transportation.

Cichociemni were the elite of the Polish Armed Forces in the West. They were trained in Great Britain to operate in occupied Poland and were ready for any sacrifice for the Fatherland. Despite the fact that over 2600 candidates volunteered for training and served only 316 of them were parachuted into occupied Poland. The article raises the issue of psychological traits of Cichociemny. The current literature on the subject focuses mainly on aspects of physical training, marginalizes an issue of personality and temperament. Today, the problem exists in the currently recruitment process of a modern soldier of the special forces. From the perfect soldier, popularly called the commandos, is expected not to only excellent physical fitness, but also appropriate psychological predispositions as self efficacy, commitment and sacrifice. According to the analysis of documents from the period of activity of Cichociemni these traits were also important then as today. It allows to put the thesis of the psychological profile of the ideal warrior, regardless of the time and place.

This article presents an analysis of relationships between the psychological contract and the propensity for knowledge to be created, stored, and transferred within an organization. It is widely known that using knowledge increases organizational capability, and that the quality of relationships between employers and employees has an effect on how strongly the latter are committed to their organization, including activities other than those required in their job descriptions. The awareness of these facts makes knowledge management more effective and, consequently, raises organizational capability determined by the psychological contract to a higher level. This article discusses the outcomes of pilot focus group interviews conducted with respondents employed at three banks. Four main factors contributing to effective knowledge management and thereby to the development of the psychological contract in the organization are identified: the prevalence and opportunity for knowledge sharing, the character of interpersonal relations, cultural aspects for knowledge management, and the level of perceived safety.

The paper summarizes the discussion on continuing education in psychological assessment to which the lead article by Filipiak et al., published in Roczniki Psychologiczne (18(2015), No 2, 171-183 pp.), was an invitation. The issues discussed concern the definition of assessment as a service vs. competency, the placement of formal regulations on education at the Polish vs. European level, the contents of education, and the organization of education in the broader context of the psychologist’s professional role, as well as the problem of education in assessment, not only for psychologists. Presenting their stance on the issues discussed, the authors formulate recommendations concerning: (a) systemic solutions for continuing education in psychological assessment, (b) the need to pursue research verifying the usefulness of particular forms of teaching assessment competencies, and (c) the need for promoting the culture of co-operation between practicing and academic psychologists.

The model of manager’s competence formation is developed by the authors. Psychological ability to practice is a key part of this model. An empirical research of psychological ability of future managers to practice is carried out using five questionnaires of psychological tests on the example of Sumy National Agrarian University. It was conducted during 2012/2013 academic year. The authors evaluated the future professionals’ abilities to motivation, risk, entrepreneurship, leadership etc. The results showed that, depending on their psychological features, respondents of each of the four groups are inclined to work in different sectors of economy.

The article describes the United States psychological operations (US PSYOP). It presents the US definition of PSYOP, the organization of US PSYOP groups, both active and functioning as the reserve component, as well as the structure of US PSYOP. The US PSYOP equipment encompasses the military state-of-the-art assets and classic tools of psychological influence. Furthermore, the article describes, in detail, the PSYOP proces including preparation, conduct and control of the psychological operations. The process comprises: planning; target audience analysis; development of a series ofpsychological products; psychological product design; approval of (series of) psychological products; production, distribution and dissemination of psychological products and psychological impact assessment.

Previous research has shown the importance of time perspectives (TP) in future-oriented decision making. However, the possible associations between time perspectives and seeking out psychological help in need have not been examined extensively, especially taking further influencing factors into consideration. Therefore, this study aimed to assess associations between personal time perspectives, stigma, socio-economic factors, and attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help (ATTSPPH) in a sample of adults in the general population in Hungary (N=273) aged 18-84 (mean=28.47, SD= 10.31). Multivariate regression analyses found that attitudes towards seeking professional psychological help were inversely associated with stigma, and residing outside of the capital city and positively associated with female gender. None of the time perspectives were associated with help-seeking. The results are discussed regarding the importance of mental health in Hungary.

The problem of sharing psychological tests with non-psychologists concerns the sharing of chosen psychological tools with people without full psychological education. An analysis of the principles of sharing psychological tests was attempted. The Workgroup of Psychological Tests of The Polish Psychological Association (Pracownia Testów Psychologicznych Polskiego Towarzystwa Psychologicznego) makes psychological tools available in 4 categories, each of which includes various psychological tests. The issues of concern are the platform “Epsilon,” which has been recently introduced by The Workgroup of Psychological Tests, a training program, which is supposed to endorse the basics of psychometrics, or the possibility to access psychological tests from the category “for psychologists only,” given to people with a “doctor of psychology” degree. It is necessary to discuss the subject of the use of psychological tests by people without adequate psychological education. Easy access to the tests by non-psychologists can be harmful to the prestige of the psychological profession.

The main objective of this paper is to present the current state of empirical research on the application of the theory of Jungian types to the psychology of religion and spirituality, pointing out the necessity of broadening them by including Polish context. The paper presents an outline of this theory and the methods of studying these types (MBTI, KTS, FPTS) used in religion and spiritual-ity. Next, the author presents the results of research on the relation between aspects of the theory of psychological types and the religiosity variables, prayer, and spirituality of individuals as well as groups and centers connected with religion and spirituality. The paper concludes with comments concerning the most important empirical findings and their value for science and practice. A need for research aimed at the verification and generalization of the obtained results with reference to the modern reinterpretations of Jung’s theory and methods of studying personality is also pointed out.

Autorka podkreśla szczególne znaczenie jakie dla psychologii transportu ma przywrócenie od 1 stycznia 2004 r. zasady okresowości badań psychologicznych, których wyniki stanowią także dla kierowcy wskazówkę do oceny zmieniających się sprawności fizycznych i psychicznych.
This article introduces readers to the problems of mental predisposition for driving a vehicle. It discusses necessary physical and mental abilities which drivers need to behave appropriately during constantly changing road situations. The meaning of those tests for road safety prophylaxis is stressed. The author underlines the special significance of bringing back on 1st January 2004 periodic psychological tests for drivers. Their results are crucial – also for the drivers – in assessing their physical and mental capabilities, which change.

There are no greater treasures than spiritual values of the employees for their development and organizational development. Psychological capital provides a combined construct as a main contributor to the competitive advantage of organisations. The construct adds the value of positive psychological resources to the existing best measure of organisational worth, comprised of the more established constructs of social capital, human capital, and traditional physical and financial capital. The presented study examined the relationship between Spiritual Values and Psychological Capital among 100 school teachers and 100 non-teaching staff of Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India. A Spiritual Values Scale developed by Husain, Zehra and Jahan (in press), and a Psychological Capital Questionnaire by Luthans et al. (2007) were administered to them. The data were analyzed by means of Cronbach’s alpha and multiple regression analysis. Cronbach’s alpha for the total sample was found to be 0.947. Significant positive correlation coefficients were found between spiritual values and self-efficacy, spiritual values and hope, and spiritual values and psychological capital among males, females and non-teaching staff members. Significant positive correlations were also found between spiritual values and self-efficacy, spiritual values and hope, spiritual values and resilience, spiritual values and optimism, and spiritual values and psychological capital among university employees.

Aim/purpose – Despite increasing importance of fostering innovation among employees, and the growing interest in Positive Organizational Behaviour (POB) constructs, little empirical research has been conducted on the topic of innovation with POB. Moreover, though research proved significant relationship between positive psychological capital (PsyCap) and creative performance, no studies examined PsyCap with innovative behavior. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to examine the link between positive psychological capital and innovative behavior as well as the link between innovative behavior and job satisfaction as well as engagement. Design/methodology/approach – Using regression analyses, data were obtained from Egyptian professionals (N = 250). The survey included measures of psychological capital and innovative behavior as well as job satisfaction and engagement. Findings – Regression analyses reveal that PsyCap, with its four components of hope, optimism, resilience and efficacy, predict innovative behavior, which in turn affects satisfaction and engagement. Research implications/limitations – Limitations, contributions and recommendations for future research are noted. Results contribute to a better understanding of how psychological capital enhances Innovative behavior in the workplace, which in turns, enhances job satisfaction and engagement. Originality/value/contribution – The study is the first to examine the relationship between psychological capital and innovative behavior.

Aim. The article is aimed at determining the indicators of psychological safety inherent in volunteers with signs of emotional exhaustion in combat zones. Methods. The study included the following methods: a) testing: Emotional Exhaustion Questionnaire (EEQ), Psychological Safety of Individual Questionnaire; b)statistical analysis: methods of descriptive statistics (percentage, minimum, maximum, range, standard error, mean, standard deviation). The group of respondents included 48 people, who were involved in volunteer activities in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine from March 2022 up to November 2022. Results. It was determined that the largest subgroup in the general group of respondents were volunteers with a high level of emotional exhaustion (46%) – these are people who feel general tension and do not remember the last time they experienced positive emotions. Among all the indicators of psychological safety, the indicators of moral-communicative and internal comfort turned out to be the least developed. Conclusions. Volunteer groups need specially organized psychological help and support, just like military or military medics. The constant danger of the activity, the need to be in contact with different people, moral fatigue lead to rapid emotional exhaustion and can causehealth disorders or even cost the volunteer's life.

The paper focuses on the modernist psychological novel as a genre that dramatizes the radical transformations of spatial and temporal categories of the time. The genre is often identified with the narrative experiments of stream of consciousness, which represent the mind in and through time. Yet an equally important inheritance of the generic experiments is the spatialization of the mind — understood in the context of the spatial conception of human subjectivity and in terms of the spatial character of inner reality. The paper argues that the most vivid spatialization of the mind is evident in the portrayal of schizophrenic experience and demonstrates the thesis in the analyses of two novels — Virginia Woolf’s The Waves and Samuel Beckett’s Murphy.

Research background: Most of the studies and their authors focus on the social and economic impacts of energy-saving behavior. However, they do not focus on the psychological factors affecting the efficiency of energy consumption in households. Lithuania has a lack of a unified and justified opinion on psychological factors that affect the energy efficiency of households. Purpose of the article: The main objective of the article is to identify the psychological factors that influence energy efficiency in households and to identify the appropriate measures to change the individual's energy consumption behavior. Methods: The article was based on analysis of scientific literature and expert evaluation, when experts selected the most influencing psychological factors. Expert valuation allowed to set the right conditions in which individuals are more easily assimilated by means of energy saving. Findings: In most cases, economic and technological factors significantly influence household energy consumption. Increased energy-efficient equipment production and supply is causing an energy consumption growth in households, because they are more inclined to buy and use more efficient electrical equipment. An investigation has showed that the energy consumption is strongly influenced by some cultural and psychological factors: with greater public openness to innovation, the households tend to use energy more efficiently. Also, some psychological indicators have significant impact on energy consumption has - frequently the more pronounced neuroticism or extraversion rate. Since the research was performed only in Lithuania, in the future it will seek to carry out an investigation in several countries and to compare a various factors on the proposed measures and the efficiency of household energy consumption.

The most basic aim of the psychological and pedagogical advisory centre is providing the child and its family with support at every stage of the problems arising. The target of such centres is also undertaking preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, counselling and advisory actions. The profession of a diagnostic – therapeutic counsellor triggers ethical dilemma. Two parties meet and interact with each other in the relations occurring in such advisory centres – the counsellor and the person who needs advice and help. To enable such a contact and make it effectively therapeutic instead of destructive, specialists employed in these centres have to be not only competent and highly qualified but also should possess a sufficient amount of knowledge about themselves, their system of values, opinions etc.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was a critical analysis of the concept of positive psychological� capital (PsyCap) and an indication of ts applicability in organizations that implemented participatory management. Methodology: The study was based on the review and comparative analysis of literature. The theoretical foundations of the concept and its practical translation into organization reality, as well as the results of a meta-analysis of the impact of PsyCap on employee attitudes, behavior and performance, was presented. The limitations of this concept in the context of participatory management were also indicated. Findings: Conducted debate supported the conclusion that the development of employee self-efficacy, hope, optimism and resilience can contribute to strengthening participatory attitudes among workers, and thus enhancing the efficiency of the entire organization. However under several conditions, employee positive psychological states were treated not as organizational resources but as an integral part of themselves. Employees felt responsible for their personal development and development of their own PsyCap was optional. Originality: The study dealt with the relatively new issue of a psychological capital management in organizations that could provide an alternative to the classical human capital management. Its implementation in organizations with participatory management has not yet been discussed in the management literature.

The research participants were people aged 60-79. The research shows that higher employment status contributes to their psychological well-being, primarily to positive interaction with others and their ability to master the environment. The research has proved that higher education and confidence in financial well-being of employed people reduces the intensity of asthenic emotions, while in those unemployed it increases the intensity of asthenic emotions. The employed are more self-confident, their self-confidence contributes to their psychological well-being. Self-confidence of the unemployed people while enhancing psychological well-being at the same time increases sthenic emotions. It is shown that reticence as self-attitude modality plays a greater role in the personality structure of the elderly people who are unemployed. The conclusions are made on weak and strong points of employment in late adulthood

Purpose: This article describes these kinds of working conditions which has become known as psychological safety. Design/methodology/approach: The article describes the workforce development from farm forced-labor to the first Industrial Revolution factory workers and finally to the knowledge 11 based company personnel. As the work was becoming more complicated and technologically advanced, the methods of incentives to increase the productivity of the workforce needed to be revised. To solve the complex problems of the world, one person or either one discipline is not sufficient. It is required that people work together, communicate with each other and exchange knowledge. Findings: This paper is focusing on building psychological safety as an organizational culture. Psychological safety is also being incorporated into education as a method conducive towards learning and the exchange of knowledge. Post-secondary graduates already trained in a psychologically safe environment are a great asset to their future employers. Most proactive knowledge-based companies, especially in Industry 4.0, already have psychologically safe environments or are in the process of creating them. Research limitations/implications: As a direct consequence of the research topic, theoretical activities will be carried out in the next publication. The direct consequence of such activities will be theoretical activities aiming, in the next publication, at building a model and empirical research aiming at verifying the theoretical layer of the described problematic. The issues of security and its threats constitute a constant element present in the actions of individuals and social groups interpreted in a historical perspective. Nowadays, these issues have been treated as important and in need of ordering in accordance with the requirements of science. In accordance with the requirements of science. Practical implications: This article is an introduction to further research in the field of safety psychology and may serve as an inspiration for other researchers or companies in improving work safety procedures, employee training, awareness of safe work, etc. Social implications: The topic of the psychology of occupational safety is part of society's concerns about the health of people working in industry. Originality/value: In the next industrial revolution- Industry 4.0, the topic of safety psychology is a new area of research because factories are building smart environments.

Aim. The article represents the results of research into the success of the students who are preparing themselves for teaching activity in the nearest future while obtaining their professional education. The aim of this research is to examine the notion of professional success, with the focus on the cognitive component of this process through the prism of purpose in life. Methods. In accordance with a developed theoretical model of the professional success achieved by a person, empirical research was carried out on a sample of the future primary school teachers with the focus on the cognitive component. To realise the purpose and objectives of the paper, a set of tests (the Test of the Life-Sense Orientations; the Purpose-in-Life Test (PIL); and a questionnaire of early childhood decisions, etc. were used as diagnostic tools to find out the correlation between components of professional success. Statistical correlation was analysed with the use of Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Results. The results of the correlation analysis between the indicators of personal readiness for change and the scenarios show a reversed two-way correlation between the indicators of the Confidence scale and the attributes “Don’t be, don’t be alive”, “Don’t be yourself”, “Be excellent”; between the metrics of the “Passion” scale and the “Don’t grow up”, “Don’t be yourself”. Conclusion. It was found that meaningful orientations of the future primary school teachers and scenario settings like “Do Not Get Close, Don’t Love, Don’t Feel, Be Perfect, Try, function as psychological barriers to achieving professional success.

The main focus of my research lies within the psychology of human development, especially in late adulthood. There are many reasons why psychologists are interested in climate change. One of the fathers of modern medicine, Hippocrates, proclaimed that the climate affects the mood (liquids) existing in the human body. I wrote an article about climate change and its relationship to the psychological functioning of people in old age. As we enter adulthood, the new generation will severely experience increasingly extreme weather events. Already this phenomenon is more frequent than several decades ago and takes a deadly toll. Heat waves will be more frequent and so the children and older people will be often exposed to that phenomenon. It may have a detrimental effect on those in the declining period of their lives. In my opinion, an important question is to what extent modern living should (in a moral sense) limit the current consumption of many goods because of the duty to care for the standard of living and its quality and the interests of people who will live in the future.

Women continue to be underrepresented in the world of politics, even though the formal barriers limiting their access to this sphere of activity have long been removed. The paper ana- lyzes the issue of political factors in women’s political careers and the reasons for their poor presence in this field of activity. Two feasible hypotheses to explain this state of affairs are presented in the paper: the first one assumes that the world of women does not fit that of politics; the second one assumes women’s insufficient competence and a lack of the personal or cognitive predisposition required in order to play political roles. Both hypotheses are tested against the results of numerous studies, including the author’s own research on sexual stereo- types, stereotypes in the perception of politics and politicians, and research into the differences between women in men in respect of the features and competencies that are significant in the profession of a politician.

The present study aimed to explore the effects of psychological needs on the relationship of peer victimization and anxiety. Methods: A sample of 889 4th, 5th and 6th primary school students in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were recruited with the measurement of Peer victimization Questionnaire, Psychological needs Scale and Anxiety Scale (SAS). Results showed that: (1) There were no significant gender and grade differences with respect to Peer victimization; (2) Significant negative correlations were found between all types of peer victimization and the subscales of psychological needs. In addition, significant positive correlations were found between all types of peer victimizationand, anxiety and significant negative correlations between all the subscales of psychological needs and anxiety; (3) Psychological needs partially mediated the relationship between Peer victimizationexperience and anxiety.

The principal goal of psychological science is not application but theory. This is because a good theory yields accurate predictions and control, two preconditions for applications. Thus, good psychological science is one that produces good theories. Against the background of reproducibility crisis and the apparent non-existence of an integrated subfield of psychology addressing those issues, I submit psychological theoretics (or psycho-theoretics) as a potential solution. The scope of psychological theoretics is outlined and distinguished from other closely related subfields. It was argued that psychological theoretics has the potential to make a unique contribution to the advancement of good psychological science. It is also worth noting that even if the global community of psychologists might not be ready for psychological theoretics as a new subfield, the reforms proposed under its rubrics would still remain relevant today and in the future. Indeed, the question of whether it is completely new will surely be the subject of scientific debate.

Artykuł podejmuje kwestię kompleksowego wynagradzania jako jednego z czynników organizacyjnych kształtujących kontrakt psychologiczny w organizacji. Celem artykułu jest próba wnioskowania o roli, jaką składniki wynagradzania odgrywają w wyznaczaniu kierunku kontraktu psychologicznego. Część teoretyczna opiera się na wyjaśnieniu genezy koncepcji kontraktu psychologicznego. Promuje koncepcję kompleksowego wynagradzania (total rewards) w perspektywie realizacji postanowień kontraktu psychologicznego. Dalej zaprezentowano wyniki badań obrazujących sposoby wynagradzania pracowników w perspektywie kształtowania kontraktu psychologicznego w polskiej praktyce gospodarczej.
This article looks at the issue of comprehensive compensation as one of the organizational factors influencing the shaping of the psychological contract in the organization. It attempts to draw conclusions on the role that remuneration factors play in determining the direction of the psychological contract. The theoretical part is based on an understanding the genesis of the concept of the psychological contract. It promotes a new theoretical approach to remuneration (total rewards) as viewed from the perspective of the performance of the provisions of the psychological contract. It goes on to present research results, portraying ways for compensating employees with a view to the molding of the psychological contract subject to Polish economic practice.

Introduction and objective. Due to the reported efficacy of in vitro fertilization (IVF) this method of dealing with infertility is increasing being used. Experiencing IVF can be a source of psychological and emotional difficulties for couples trying to have a child. A systematic review was performed to discuss IVF as a psychological issue that impacts on the functioning of individuals, couples and families. Ebsco, Science Direct and PsycARTICLES databases were searched using the keywords: IVF fertilization, IVF psychology, infertility, and IVF consequences, using published peer reviewed articles from 2006 onwards. Studies in the English and Polish languages, peer reviewed and investigating general IVF and infertility psychological issues were included. Data was collected by the authors between June 2015-January 2016. Brief description of the state of knowledge. Studies indicate that partners going through IVF may not have enough support from their closest social environments. It is argued that these unsupportive social interactions affect the well-being of couples, can hinder conception, and therefore are one of the reasons for attrition from IVF, the most effective assisted reproduction method. Conclusions. There is a need to conduct studies on the effect of supportive social interactions for the functioning of couples undergoing IVF.

The issue of morality does not represent a dominant topic of the current psychological research, although the interest of predominantly social psychologist in understanding the processes that are behind reasoning of people with respect to moral issues and explaining moral or immoral behaviour can not be denied. The submitted study presents a brief introduction of basic psychological concepts dealing with morality emphasizing the specific notion of moral orientation. The orientation to justice or to care when solving moral dilemmas is known in literature under the term the moral orientation. Gilligan can see the cause of differences in moral orientation in gender differences acquired during the process of socialization. A psychological approach provides many useful explanation of how thinking of people with respect to moral issues is pursued. The actual psychology of morality is mainly based on cognitivistic theories coming out of conceptions of Piaget and Kohlberg. They interconnected approaches isolated and focused on intentions by that time and emphasized importance of a constitutional conditioning of moral judgment. The attention was aimed to judgment processes having an adequate level of cognitive development as an indispensable (even if not sufficient) condition. An important contribution of cognitivists is based also on a rich professional discussion that they invoked. Supporters of cognitivistic scheme “neo-kohlbergians” or its criticisers revise and amend the basic Kohlberg`s model in such aspects as relativizing of a primary role of cognitions as a sole aspect of the moral decision making, emphasize the significance of concept, situations, type of solved dilemma, influence of conventions, point out the differences in solving hypothetical dilemmas and dilemmas of everyday life etc.

This study examines the relationship between psychological flexibility and attitudes, perceptions, and feelings towards individuals with disabilities and towards integrating people with disabilities in society. This integrated study, presented here, is a stage in a broader study that examined the relationship between psychological flexibility, educational elements, and various components that take part in shaping and assimilating perceptions and attitudes towards disabilities. The study presented here was conducted in two parts: The first part included data collection and quantitative analysis from 153 adult subjects to understand the statistical relationship between psychological resilience and attitudes toward disability. The second part included integrated data collection and analysis, quantitative and qualitative, from 60 respondents, 30 children, and 30 adults, to deepen our understanding regarding the correlations between psychological flexibility and the approach towards disabilities and the understanding of components that affect the correlation. The study shows a positive correlation between psychological flexibility and an attitude towards disabilities, and contributes to deepening the understanding of components that have different effects on this relationship.

Gilligan can see the cause of differences in moral orientation in gender differences acquired during the process of socialization. A psychological approach provides many useful explanation of how thinking of people with respect to moral issues is pursued. The actual psychology of morality is mainly based on cognitivistic theories coming out of conceptions of Piaget and Kohlberg. They interconnected approaches isolated and focused on intentions by that time and emphasized importance of a constitutional conditioning of moral judgment. The attention was aimed to judgment processes having an adequate level of cognitive development as an indispensable (even if not sufficient) condition. An important contribution of cognitivists is based also on a rich professional discussion that they invoked. Supporters of cognitivistic scheme “neokohlbergians” or its criticisers revise and amend the basic Kohlberg`s model in such aspects as relativizing of a primary role of cognitions as a sole aspect of the moral decision making, emphasize the significance of concept, situations, type of solved dilemma, influence of conventions, point out the differences in solving hypothetical dilemmas and dilemmas of everyday life etc.

Aim/purpose – Though psychological capital has become a hot topic in the recent years, scholars have given little attention to its antecedents. This study used the job characteristics model (Hackman & Oldham, 1975) as a framework to examine the relationship between the five job characteristics and the four components of psychological capital. Moreover, task performance is examined as an outcome of psychological capital. Design/methodology/approach – Using structural equation modelling, data were obtained from Egyptian professionals (N = 251). The survey included measures of psychological capital and job characteristics as well as task performance, which was rated by employees’ supervisors. Findings – Results indicate that the five job characteristics of skill variety, task significance, job feedback, job identity and job autonomy are positively related to the four components of psychological capital. Moreover, hope, self-efficacy and resilience were positively related to task performance. However, Egyptian employees’ optimism was not found to be related to task performance. Research implications/limitations – Results contribute to a better understanding of what enhances psychological capital in the workplace. Originality/value/contribution – The current study is the first to integrate the theory of work design with the psychological capacities of hope, optimism, resilience and self- -efficacy. Research on the development of psychological capital has been limited to interventions with little or no attention given to macro or organisational factors that could contribute to its enhancement. Moreover, it is the first to link psychological capital to job performance in an Arab country.

ObjectivesMedical students suffer from a considerable level of stress, which can result in the deterioration of their mental health, including depression or suicidal ideation. They are afraid to seek help due to stigmatization and environmental ostracism. The goal of the study is to analyze the psychological support and stress management programs for students supported by medical schools in PolandMaterial and MethodsThe authors sent out e-mails with 9 questions regarding the issue being analyzed to all 19 medical schools in Poland. They obtained answers from 15 such schools, which corresponds to a response rate of 79%. The study was conducted in 2018–2019, before the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.ResultsDue to the lack of central regulations, support is provided by medical schools individually. Those solutions focus on short-term, temporary therapy. If a longer therapy is needed, students are redirected to external health providers. Moreover, information about the support is not transferred by student-friendly communication channels. Conclusions: Support should be flexible, and it should quickly adapt to the emerging trends and consider students’ feedback. A future model of psychological support could be a center organized as a transfer point between a university problem-solving facility and external health providers, concentrating on short-term activity. Quick support would eliminate potential complications and more serious mental problems.

During the past 20 years of research in occupational safety and health (OSH), major contributions have been made by psychology in general, foremost German work and organizational psychology. This is the result of an empirical study with 216 scientific projects that were analyzed by content, and 32 interviews on OSH with experts on science, as well as in professional occupations and federations. Its sound methodological and theoretical approach has helped work and organizational psychology to embody itself as a driving force of OSH. The research focuses on the development of tools for job analysis, striving for the valid diagnosis of occupational hazards and mental load. Consequently, work and organizational psychology provides a solid foundation for deriving human and personality ameliorating organizational measures. Among the predominant means of intervention are training in coping with stress, behavioral training and modeling, health circles, and the arrangement of environments sensitive to occupational load. Major deficits in the field of research show up within evaluation and transfer as well as within quality control of the developed diagnostic and devices regarding intervention. Future scientific effort by means of application-orientated methods is vital to detect and overcome effectively a mounting mental load in the occupational world.

Breast cancer affects a large number of women worldwide. Surgical management has evolved towards mastectomies and breast-conserving surgeries. The complications following a mastectomy can be physical and/or psychological. The physical complications include pain, scarring, lymphedema, limitation in range of motion at the shoulder, muscle weakness, change in body posture, etc. Some of the psychological complications are negative boy image, anxiety, depression and depressive disorders, negative body image. Appropriate management requires a multi-disciplinary team of which the physiotherapist is a part of. Literature has shown that there is a better improvement in physical function if physiotherapy is commenced early. Therefore, physiotherapy should be incorporated pre and post-mastectomy. Physiotherapy management should focus on lymphatic drainage, soft tissue mobilization, range of motion exercises, strengthening exercises and postural correction. Increased physical activity and recommendation of support groups can help to improve psychological outcomes. It is the role of the physical therapist to deal with the physical and psychological complications of a mastectomy to improve the quality of life of the patients.

This article considers the difficulties associated with grief, mourning, and healing during the COVID-19 pandemic. The current pandemic has affected the way individuals overcome grief, since the bereaved must grieve without the usual social, cultural, and religious supports. Due to the ban on visiting the sick in hospitals as well as gathering and mourning in funeral homes, many people are experiencing pathological grief. This article indicates the importance of pastorally accompanying people who are going through the complicated process of mourning, and it emphasizes that, through spiritual help and psychological accompaniment, this period can lead to healing that results in posttraumatic adaptation (resilience) and inner development.

Przy niejasnym znaczeniu denotacyjnym o wartości i popularności wsparcia psychologicznego świadczyć zatem może jego znaczenie konotacyjne. Dla zweryfikowania hipotez o pozytywnym obrazie emocjonalnym wzbudzanym przez to pojęcie, różnicach istniejących między asocjacjami budzonymi przez wsparcie psychologiczne i inne terminy z zakresu specjalistycznej praktyki służącej zdrowiu psychicznemu przeprowadzono badanie metodą dyferencjału semantycznego wśród psychologów i pedagogów pracujących w dwóch miejskich specjalistycznych poradniach psychologiczno-pedagogicznych w Olsztynie.
The term „psychological support‘ is frequently used by practitioners in the fields of psychology and pedagogy to describe recommendations for the application of therapeutic measures. It seems, however, that it lacks a concise definition to specify its inherent qualities. Even in absence of a denotational precision its connotational significance and value may account for its popularity and common appreciation. To verify the hypothesis of a positive emotional association with this terminus technicus, to demonstrate the differences between the emotions evoked by the term „psychological support‘ in contrast to others conveyed by similar terms equally in common use within the field of psychic health care an investigation was carried out amongst psychologist and pedagogues working at two psychological and educational consultation centres in Olsztyn. The method applied was semantic differential.

The article concerns possible use of narrative games in psychology. Narrative games are recognized as projective games, which allow to reach some hidden needs and motives of players by means of using the game world – a set of symbols which have a personal meaning for the players. Diagnosis of the players is possible due to analyzing characteristics and behavior of the characters they create. Therapy with the use of narrative games allows to support treatment of some mental disorders (such as phobia or depression), helps to develop social skills, to cope with unpleasant emotions and to create ways of thinking. Contraindications against the use of narrative games in diagnosis and therapy include psychotic and personality disorders, intellectual defi cits, and inability to separate the Self from the Self-of-Character.
Artykuł porusza problematykę wykorzystania gier narracyjnych na użytek psychologii. Ujmuje gry narracyjne jako gry projekcyjne, pozwalające dotrzeć do ukrytych potrzeb i motywów graczy poprzez wykorzystywanie świata gry, który stanowi zestaw symboli mających dla graczy osobiste znaczenie. Diagnoza graczy możliwa jest dzięki analizie charakterystyk oraz sposobów postępowania tworzonych przez nich postaci. Terapia przy użyciu gier narracyjnych pozwala na wspomaganie leczenia niektórych zaburzeń psychicznych (jak fobia czy depresja), rozwijanie kompetencji społecznych, a zatem naukę radzenie sobie z przykrymi emocjami i kształtowanie sposobów myślenia. Przeciwwskazania do wykorzystywania gier narracyjnych w diagnozie i terapii stanowią zaburzenia psychotyczne i osobowościowe, defi cyty intelektualne i nieumiejętność oddzielenia Ja od Ja postaci.

Problematykę śmierci i umierania podejmują różne dyscypliny naukowe i każda z nich wnosi własne rozumienie rozważanych pojęć: śmierci i umierania. Niniejsza refleksja ma charakter jedynie psychologiczno-teologiczny (pastoralny) i zmierza do znalezienia odpowiedzi jak pomóc osobom w obliczu tych niepowtarzalnych wydarzeń. W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiona jest problematyka śmierci w perspektywie teologii. Konieczne jest więc zatrzymanie się na Objawieniu Bożym i nauce zawartej w Piśmie Świętym. Zarówno Stary Testament, jak również Nowy Testament podejmują bardzo wyraźnie rozważane pojęcie. Zbawczy charakter śmierci chrześcijanina wiąże się ze zbawczą śmiercią Chrystusa. W drugiej części artykułu - perspektywa psychologii - ukazany jest wyraź niej proces umierania a nie sam moment śmierci. Pozytywny sens ludzkiej śmierci psychologowie dostrzegają w kontekście wcześniejszego sensownego życia. Przezwyciężyć bezsens śmierci jawi się jako psychologiczne wyzwanie dla osób towarzyszących osobom umierającym. W takim kontekście zaprezentowany jest model umierania według Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. Ostatnia część artykułu to sugestie pastoralne. Posługa pastoralna podejmowana w Kościele przez duszpasterzy powinna uwzględniać psychologiczne uwarunkowania dotyczące procesu umierania oraz śmierci.
The issue of death and dying is examined by various scientific disciplines and each of them enriches the understanding of the notions in question: death and dying. The article has a merely psychological and theological (pastoral) character and aims at finding the answers how to help people in the face of these unrepeatable events. In the first part of the article the author presents the issue of dying from the perspective of theology. Therefore, one needs to consider Divine Revelation and the teachings included in the Holy Bible. The Old Testament, as well as the New Testament clearly deal with the issue in question. The redemptive character of a Christian’s death is connected to the redemptive death of Jesus Christ. In the second part of the article – psychology perspective – the author presents more clearly the process of dying, not the moment of death itself. Psychologists see the positive sense of death in the context of a previous meaningful life. The persons who accompany dying people face the psychological challenge of overcoming the senselessness of death. In such a context the model of dying according to Elisabeth Kübler-Ross is presented. The last part of the article deals with pastoral suggestions. The pastoral ministry undertaken in Church by priests should take into account the psychological conditions connected to the process of dying and death.

Pain is a complex and challenging problem for patients with low back pain and for the psychologists and physiotherapist. One of the most common musculoskeletal pain problems is low back pain. Literature data allow us to assume that possible cause of decreased multifidus size include reflex inhibition and disuse atrophy. Increased fatigability (decreased endurance) of the multifidus muscle has been demonstrated in low back pain (LBP) patients in several research studies. Taking up physical activity belongs to one of the fundamentals of the therapy Formal exercise programmes used in conjunction with other methods of treatment and psychological therapy are one the main forms treatments in low back pain. Lifestyle, physical activity in particular is one on the factors influencing the health of youth and adults. Passiveness and apathy do not facilitate the persistence in realizing the aims of treatment.

Introduction: Death anxiety, fear of abundance, isolation, stigma of the disease and medication side effects are among the most common sources of anxiety and depression in patients with breast cancer. Purpose: To examine the possible relationship between religiosity, psychological resilience and depression on breast cancer patients. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional design was employed in this study which 152 breast cancer patients participated. Data were collected with the following instruments: Patient Health Questionnaire-2-item scale, Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale 25 and Centrality of Religiosity Scale and a special designed sheet reporting social, demographic and clinical characteristics. Statistical analyses were conducted with the Statistical Package for the Social Science V25. Descriptive statistics such means, and frequencies were calculated and inferential statistics such correlation test, simple and multiple regression analysis were applied. Results: Approximately 1 in 3 patients suffered symptoms of depression while they were reporting moderate religiosity and resilience values. Based on the four-step mediation analysis religiosity was strongly associated with psychological resilience but it was not found to affect directly either depression, but psychological resilience can be a mediator between religiosity and depression. Conclusion: This study supports the notion thatreligiosity and spirituality can have a beneficial influence on health outcomes.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to review the effects of psychological capital on employees’ burn out in the work environment. This research is paired with Self-Efficacy Theory, which emphasizes that the results of efforts and performances are the most significant sources of self-efficacy. Methodology: Data collected from 416 Turkish workers employed at public institutions in Turkey were included in the analyses to identify the effects of psychological capital on burnout by using two different types of scales (burnout and psychological capital scales) into a single questionnaire form with Likert-type response scale. Beside the Reliability Analysis, different statistical valuation methods –such as regression and correlation analyses– have also been used. Findings: The results of analyses conducted on the sample of 416 Turkish workers reveal that statis tically significant relationships appear between self-efficacy and depersonalization, hope and low personal accomplishment, optimism and emotional exhaustion, optimism and depersonalization. Optimism is negatively related to emotional exhaustion and depersonalization while positively and insignificantly related to low personal accomplishment. Both self-efficacy and optimism are signifi cantly effective in explaining depersonalization. Hope positively and significantly contributes to explain the low personal accomplishment level of employees. On the other hand, optimism negatively and significantly contributes to emotional exhaustion. Implications: As found in the results of this research, optimism will decrease emotional exhaustion. Resilient people can more easily adapt to changes in life. Organizations may focus not only on improv ing organizational structure but also foregrounding workers’ positive personality traits and healthy psychological capital systems. Value: This research which emphasizes the effects of psychological capital on burnout levels of em- ployees is as valuable as others in relevant literature with different research results which are more valuable than the other. null

Introduction: The aim of the presented research was to check whether there is a connection between teachers’ self-efficacy and their psychological well-being from a holistic (hedonic and eudaimonic) perspective. Method: The study involved 100 teachers who were asked to fill in the following research tools with proven psychometric properties: the General Self-Efficacy Scale, the Satisfaction with Life Scale, the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule, and the Psychological Well-being Scale. Results: The obtained data confirm that there is a connection between self-efficacy belief, and hedonic and eudaimonic well-being. The degree of professional promotion grades modifies the relationships considered. Conclusions: The psychological well-being of teachers is significantly associated with their evaluation of efficacy, which may have a positive impact on the effectiveness of teachers’ professional functioning and the achievements of their students.

Celem przeprowadzonych badań było udzielenie odpowiedzi na trzy pytania badawcze. Pierwsze dotyczyło częstości z jaką kobiety i mężczyźni w bliskich związkach prezentują wobec siebie zachowania świadczące o ich asertywności, drugie wiązało się z poznaniem roli jaką odgrywa płeć psychologiczna w podejmowaniu tego typu zachowań, a trzecie konsekwencji jakie wynikają z podejmowania tego rodzaju zachowań dla zadowolenia z intymnej relacji. W przeprowadzonych badaniach uczestniczyło 60 par (120 osób). Wykorzystano trzy narzędzia samoopisowe: własnej konstrukcji Kwestionariusz Zachowań Asertywnych w Związkach, Inwentarz Płci Psychologicznej A. Kuczyńskiej oraz Kwestionariusz Miłości B. Wojciszke. Badania wykazały m.in., że kobiety częściej wyrażają wobec swoich partnerów prośby i oczekiwania oraz negatywne opinie, a mężczyźni częściej niż ich partnerki prezentują nadmierną uległość. Kobiecość nie miała związku z częstością podejmowania zachowań świadczących o asertywności, a męskość była słabo, ale istotnie związana z wyrażaniem próśb i oczekiwań przez kobiety i mężczyzn oraz nadmierną uległością u mężczyzn. Im rzadziej kobiety prezentowały zachowania nadmiernej uległości oraz unikania konfliktów tym wyższa była satysfakcja ze związku doświadczana zarówno przez kobiety jak i mężczyzn. Im częściej kobiety wyrażają swoje prośby i oczekiwania wobec swoich partnerów tym były one i ich partnerzy zadowoleni ze swoich relacji. Rezultaty badań interpretowano w aspekcie współczesnych teorii i dotychczasowych wyników badań.
The aim of the research was to answer three research questions. The first referred to the frequency with which women and men in close relationships are assertive towards each other, the second was connected with discovering the role of psychological gender in this type of behaviour, and the third was about the consequences of such behaviour on the level of satisfaction with an intimate relation. The research comprised 60 couples (120 individuals). Three self-descriptive instruments were used: the author’s own design, a Questionnaire of Assertive Behaviour in Relationships, the Bem Sex-Role Inventory by A. Kuczyńska and the Love Questionnaire by B. Wojciszke. The research shows, among others, that women express requests and expectations towards their partners as well as negative opinions more often, while men, more often than their partners, present excessive submissiveness. There was no connection between femininity and assertive behaviour, while masculinity was feebly, but importantly connected with expressing requests and expectations by women and presenting excessive submissiveness by men. The less frequently women presented excessive submissiveness and strategies of avoiding conflicts, the bigger was the satisfaction with the relationship for both women and men. The more frequently women express their requests and expectations towards their partners, the more satisfied with the relationships they and their partners are. The results of the research were interpreted in relation to modern theories and results of earlier research.

The purpose of the study was to investigate what psychological variables contribute to the prediction of reducing overweight in women. 78 women with overweight (M of BMI = 31.27), aged 35–55 years (M of age = 46.8); were examined twice, before and after the programme of reducing overweight based on psychological actions. Eight methods were used in the study: Stress Perceived Scale, Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations, Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale, Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale, Life Orientation Test, Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale, State-Trait Personality and Kuhl’s Action Control Scale. Self-efficacy beliefs, perceiving stress, coping with stress (task and avoidance oriented strategies) and optimism appeared predictors of reducing overweight in women.

The aim of the study was to establish psychological characteristics of overweight and obese women and to delineate the similarities and differences of this characteristics between women with overweight and obesity and women with normal weight. 80 women aged 48, with increased body mass index (43 with overweight – BMI = 25.1A˛30 and 37 with obesity – BMI > 30) and 80 women at similar age (average 46,8) with normal weight participated in the study. Various techniques were used: Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale, Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale, Life Orientation Test, Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale, 3-factors Personality States and Traits Questionnaire, Kuhl Action Control Scale, Perceived Stress Scale and Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS). The results indicate that women with overweight and obesity reveal lower level of personal resources such as self-efficacy, self-esteem and level of optimism. Obese women elicited beliefs in powerful others in health locus of control. Obese subjects stronger perceive stress than women with normal weight. In coping with stress they use less task, and more avoidance strategies.

Aim. Human sexuality is an important multidimensional subject for psychological research. However, the study of sexuality remains relatively closed for Ukrainian researchers, primarily due to a lack of valid and reliable measures of sexuality in general, and in particular, measures of psychological patterns in human sexuality. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to validate a self-report English-language tool, the Multidimensional Sexual Questionnaire (MSQ), for the Ukrainian language. Methods. A total of 1113 Ukrainian-speaking participants were administered the MSQ-UA. The MSQ-UA factor structure was measured using EFA and CFA procedures. Alpha and Omega estimates of internal consistency were calculated. The test-retest reliability was established in a five-week time period. The correlations of the MSQ-UA subscales with relevant psychopathology, personality measures and control statements were accomplished to prove the construct validity of the questionnaire. Results. Findings indicated that the MSQ-UA is an eleven-dimensional measure, which is almost identical to the original English-language version. Subscales of the MSQ-UA display acceptable excellent psychometric properties of internal consistency (Alpha and Omega within a range of 0.70 to 0.92). The test-retest reliability over the five-week period was appropriate (r=0.68-0.93). The MSQ-UA subscales demonstrated from moderate to high correlations with relevant measures, and the associations were absent or low in cases when criterion measures were irrelevant to the subscale. Conclusion. The MSQ-UA demonstrated appropriate psychometric properties and may be applied to assess a broad range of psychological patterns in sexual relationships in the Ukrainian-speaking population.

Purpose: The article attempts to identify the relationship between employers’ psychological contract perception (relational and transactional expectations) and the occurrence of counterproductive work behavior among their employees. The study seeks to extend the understanding of the psychological contract concept and its correlation with counterproductive work behaviors. There are numerous studies analyzing the perceptions of obligations and promises of a psychological contract from the employee’s viewpoint. However, the question of employer expectations and the perception of the fulfillment of these expectations is not less important, albeit much less elaborated. Methodology: Participants were 101 managers and owners of small and medium companies who represent different businesses in construction industry in the Ukrainian market. Data were collected through a questionnaire. Key findings: The results of the study show that employers have a high level of expectations toward their employees, and the relational character of the expectations is dominant. However, the per ceptions of the fulfillment of these expectations were at a moderate level. The results also show that employers reveal a moderate level of counterproductive work behavior (CWB) and a significan relationship between psychological contract (PC), relational expectations, and CWB.

Artykuł poświęcony jest problematyce kosztów ponoszonych przez nabywców, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem kosztów psychologicznych. Celem opracowania jest ukazanie teoretycznego sensu kategorii kosztów psychologicznych, jak również przedstawienie źródeł i sposobów ich powstawania. Rozpoznawanie tej kategorii pojęciowej może posłużyć organizacjom w lepszym zrozumieniu i wyjaśnieniu mechanizmów kształtujących zachowania nabywców, a także w opracowaniu programów działań służących łagodzeniu negatywnych konsekwencji ponoszonego przez konsumentów w sytuacji nabywczej dyskomfortu psychicznego.
Costs that consumer bear before, during and after purchase, are one of the key factors that influence consumer behavior and the buying process. The main objective of the work is to analyze the nature of psychological costs of buyer behavior. The work provides a theoretical basis for analyzing the psychological costs. The source of occurring that costs category will be also discussed. Knowledge of that theoretical construct can help the organization to better understand the mechanism of consumer behavior. It can also help to create a sustainable relationships with consumers, as well as can be potentially important source of competitive advantage.

The article presents an analysis of the socio-cultural changes in Poland after 1989 in the context of changes of the identity of young people and new educational forms resulting from it. For several years there are observable changes taking place in educational systems in Poland, which causes a discussion and polemic on the issue of introducing changes. There are voices of satisfaction, but there are also a lot of critical ones, which encourage to seek further for educational solutions. There are also many negative phenomena which can be observed at schools, such as the increasing level of aggression of students, hyperactivity problems, and also addiction problems of many kinds. When analyzing the socio-cultural changes connected with the educational changes, one can clearly see in students a lower level of independent and creative thinking and an attitude towards the ad hoc, often mercantile goals. The teachers, on the other hand, often find themselves in new situations which confront them with new challenges, which requires them to use a special approach to a student and an appropriate range of interpersonal and communicative skills. That is why teachers are offered to study psychological education which can be conducted in a form of specialized training, workshop or even interpersonal training.

The article embraces the problem of woman’s victimology in domestic violence environment; origins and sustainability of her role as a victim of familial abuse – all in context of her psychological portrait. According to the author, the components of such portrait are personality, capability in stress management, fear and socioeconomic situa on. Author’s own research referenced in the ar cle suggests that characteristics of a woman who repetitively experiences violence in domestic environment are: neuroticism, introversion, low openness for experiences, coping with stress focused on emotions and lesser job skills as in comparison with subjects in control group. It allowes to come to a conclusion which personality traits are most likely to be fund in people who are subjects of social exclusion due to domestic violence.
W artykule poruszono problematykę wchodzenia, a następnie podtrzymywania roli ofiary przemocy w rodzinie w kontekście próby stworzenia portretu psychologicznego kobiet doświadczających przemocy w swoim środowisku rodzinnym. Składowymi portretu psychologicznego – zdaniem autorów artykułu – jest osobowość, styl radzenia sobie ze stresem, lęk i sytuacja socjoekonomiczna. Badania własne wskazały, że cechami charakteryzującymi kobiety doświadczające wielokrotnej przemocy w środowisku domowym są: neurotyczność, introwersja, niska otwartość na doświadczenia, styl radzenia sobie ze stresem skoncentrowany na emocjach oraz gorsza niż w grupie kontrolnej sytuacja na rynku pracy i niższe wykształcenie. Pozwala to na wysunięcie wniosków o prawdopodobnych cechach osób narażonych na wykluczenie społeczne z powodu przemocy w rodzinie

Psychological distress associated with body image disorders in patients with breast cancer is well described in the literature. Given the known insults to body image caused by both disease and oncological treatment, body image distress is commonplace within this patient population. Stress is also a frequent sequela of a diagnosis of and treatment for cancer and may manifest various forms. This study undertook to investigate the nature of stress and body image distress within a cohort of 80 female breast cancer patients drawn from three outpatient cancer treatment facilities in the Durban, South Africa region and to examine its correlation with psychological and behavioural indices reported by these patients as compared to a group of 80 female patients undergoing treatment for other types of cancer. The results indicated that although there were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of depressive symptomatology and measures of self-esteem, where scores largely fell within normal ranges, the breast cancer patients experienced higher levels of body image dissatisfaction as compared to the other group and that stress tended to be expressed in psychological and behavioural indices as opposed to physiological expression.

ObjectivesThe authors characterized the demographic, socioeconomic, and psychosocial work factors associated with performance of unskilled manual work, and then identified the modifiable psychosocial work factors that affected the psychological well-being of these workers.Material and MethodsThis study analyzed data from the fifth Korean Working Condition Survey conducted in 2017. The study subjects were 37 081 Korean employees. The occupational classes investigated were: managers, professionals, and clerks; service and sales workers; and skilled or unskilled manual workers.ResultsUnskilled manual workers were more likely to be elderly and less educated, to have low income, to work fewer hours weekly, to have a shorter work duration, to perform temporary or daily jobs, and to report poor subjective health and well-being. Unskilled manual workers were also more likely to experience psychosocial hazards, such adverse social behaviors, a lack of job satisfaction, a lack of support from managers, and a poor social climate. However, with statistical adjustment for demographic, socioeconomic, and psychosocial work factors, unskilled manual work was no longer associated with poor psychological well-being, but psychosocial work factors were associated with poor psychological well-being.ConclusionsThe poor psychological well-being of unskilled manual workers cannot be explained by the intrinsic nature of this type of work. Instead, the poor psychological well-being of these workers is associated with unfavorable psychosocial work factors, such as a poor employment status, a lack of job satisfaction, a lack of support from managers, and a bad social climate. These results thus suggest that the modification of psychosocial work factors may improve the psychological well-being of unskilled manual workers.

Different ways of understanding the psychological pain, its causes and ways to measure this variable were described in the presented article. Special attention was paid to Edwin Shneidman’s concept, in which the psychological pain along with cognitive constriction in which death is seen as the only source of interruption of suffering, is the basic source of suicidal thoughts and behaviours. According to Shneidman’s concept, the source of pain lies in the frustration over important needs and without satisfying them man is not able to function. The most popular tools for the study of psychological pain were listed. The studies which show the relation between the psychological pain and suicidal tendencies and personality variables were overviewed. Most of them indicate that psychological pain has stronger relations with the occurrence of suicidal thoughts and attempts than the feeling of hopelessness and levels of depression. It was also shown that the most important factors contributing to suicidal attempts (namely feelings of hopelessness, depression and psychological pain) are highly correlated, but at the same time they retain their autonomy. In some studies, it was also found out that psychological pain plays a causal role in suicidal tendencies and that the change in suicidal thoughts is determined by changes in the level of psychological pain. The article also includes demands for further research on the psychological pain. It was pointed out that the research on psychological pain covered the period of the last decade, so it is something new. It is advisable to conduct research on psychological pain relations with other (than suicidal tendencies) self-destructive behaviours, such as, for example, psychoactive substance abuse and the factors that protect against suffering from it. It is also worth to explore the relationship between the experience of physical and psychological pain and suicidal tendencies.
W artykule omówiono ujęcia bólu psychicznego i jego przyczyny oraz sposoby pomiaru tej zmiennej. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na koncepcję Edwina Shneidmana. Według niej ból psychiczny – wraz z poznawczym zawężeniem, w którym śmierć jawi się jako jedyny sposób na przerwanie cierpienia – to podstawowe źródło myśli i zachowań samobójczych. Zgodnie z ujęciem Shneidmana źródło bólu tkwi we frustracji ważnych potrzeb. Bez ich zaspokojenia człowiek nie jest w stanie funkcjonować. W tekście wymieniono najpopularniejsze narzędzia do badania bólu psychicznego i dokonano przeglądu prac wskazujących na jego związki z myślami i zachowaniami samobójczymi. W badaniach wykazano, że najważniejsze czynniki zaangażowane w podejmowanie zachowań samobójczych, tj. poczucie beznadziejności, depresja i ból psychiczny, są ze sobą silnie skorelowane, ale jednocześnie zachowują odrębność. Okazało się również, iż ból psychiczny odgrywa przyczynową rolę w powstawaniu skłonności samobójczych, a zmiana w myślach samobójczych jest wyznaczana przez zmiany poziomu bólu psychicznego. W artykule zawarto też postulaty dotyczące dalszych kierunków badań nad bólem psychicznym. Zwrócono uwagę, że rozważania nad nim przypadają na ostatnią dekadę, są więc czymś nowym. Wskazane jest prowadzenie badań nad związkami bólu psychicznego z innymi niż tendencje samobójcze zachowaniami autodestrukcyjnymi, np. z nadużywaniem substancji psychoaktywnych, oraz nad czynnikami chroniącymi przed cierpieniem z powodu tego bólu. Warte poznania wydają się ponadto relacje między odczuwaniem bólu fizycznego i psychicznego a tendencjami suicydalnymi.

W artykule autorzy zwracają uwagę na rolę i znaczenie treningu psychologicznego, który może być bardzo pomocny w prowadzeniu zajęć dydaktycznych dla studentów psychologii. W okresie istotnych zmian społeczno-kulturowych zachodzących we współczesnym świecie obserwuje się zwiększenie tempa życia, presję czasową oraz wzmożoną rywalizację. W konsekwencji prowadzi to do częstych sytuacji stresowych, a ponadto do pojawiania się nowych zjawisk psychopatologicznych (np. wzrost występowania zaburzeń osobowości, depresji czy uzależnień). Trening psychologiczny jest aktywną formą zajęć, w których ważną rolę odgrywa grupa i proces dynamiki grupowej będący bardzo ważnym zjawiskiem wpływającym na możliwość lepszego poznania zasad funkcjonowania grupy, lepszego poznania siebie oraz innych osób. Jego obserwacja umożliwia samopoznanie, integrację grupową, sprzyja budowaniu postaw tolerancji, akceptacji innych i uczeniu się zachowań prozdrowotnych. W trakcie zajęć treningowych uczestnik uczy się także empatii, syntonii, poznaje swoje mocne i słabe strony. Uczy się kontroli nad swoimi reakcjami emocjonalnymi oraz zachowaniem. Odpowiednie ćwiczenia mogą pomóc w opanowaniu stresu. Grupa jest także źródłem wielu ważnych informacji zwrotnych. Trening może być zatem formą edukacji sprzyjającej poznaniu zjawisk występujących w pracy przyszłego psychologa.
In the article, the authors draw attention to the role and importance of psychological training, which can be very helpful in teaching classes for psychology students. During the period of significant socio-cultural changes taking place in the modern world, an increase in the pace of life, time pressure and increased competition are observed. As a consequence, this leads to frequent stressful situations and, moreover, to the appearance of new psychopathological phenomena (e.g. increase in the appearance of personality disorders, depression or addiction). Psychological training is an active form of classes in which an important role is played by the group and the group dynamics process, which is a very important phenomenon affecting the possibility of getting to know the principles of the group’s functioning, getting to know oneself and other people. Its observation enables self-knowledge, group integration, helps to build tolerance attitudes, acceptance of others and learning pro-health behavior. During training classes, the participants also learn empathy, syntony, their strengths and weaknesses. They learn to control their emotional reactions and behavior. Appropriate exercises can help to manage stress. The group is also a source of many important feedback. Training can therefore be a form of education conducive to learning about the phenomena occurring in the work of the future psychologist.

This article describes how psychological models of power adopt the dominance and functionalist perspective in examining the influence of power on power holders. According to the dominance perspective, power leads to a desire to increase dominance over others and has a negative and corruptive influence on the person holding it, whereas the functionalist perspective puts emphasis on how power aids the attainment of the power holder’s and the group’s goals and should therefore trigger processes helpful in goal attainment. The issue of testing and analyzing the impact of road signs on the drivers’ behaviour and traffic conditions has been the subject of experimental analyses for many years. The most common analyzes concern the road-side environment and the visibility aspects as well as adequate message transmission. The following paper presents the psychological aspects that can be used as a basis for the development of guidelines for evaluating the communicative nature of road signs and its impact on the drivers behavioural changes with-in the road sign marking area. Both the characteristics of the individual, being relevant for the perception of the road-side reality and the characteristics of the environment related to these aspects, have been discussed.

Aim of the study. The aim of the study is to present the attitude of the psychology students to sharing psychological tests with other professionals. Method. A survey on paper and in an online form was conducted. The survey consisted of 17 statements concerning attitude towards sharing psychological tests and students’ knowledge on the current regulations in the field. Three questions were taken from a study by Jaworowska (2009), which concerned the opinion of psychologists on a similar subject.. The study group consisted of 86 students of psychology of the Jagiellonian University. Selected results were compared with the results of the study by Jaworowska (2009). Results. The participants agreed on the fact that only qualified psychologists should be permitted to use psychological tests, however, our study group tended to be more liberal than the psychologists (d=0.29). A change in beliefs between study years was seen – the higher the year, the more conservative the attitude towards sharing psychological tests with professional groups other than psychologists. Limitations of the study. The study was conducted on psychology students of only one university. It is therefore possible that the results are indirectly related to the curriculum of the Jagiellonian University. Conclusions. Psychology students have a slightly more liberal attitude towards sharing psychological tests with non-psychologists than the psychologists. It must be however underlined that their attitude is still rather negetive – the students believe that psychological tools should be available to psychologists only. The influence of the time of education is seen.
Cel badań. Celem badania było przedstawienie stosunku studentów psychologii do udostępniania narzędzi psychologicznych innym grupom zawodowym. Metoda badań. Przeprowadzono badanie z użyciem ankiety w formie papierowej lub elektronicznej, która zawierała 17 stwierdzeń odnoszących się do przekonań na temat udostępniania testów psychologicznych lub wiedzy dotyczącej aktualnych regulacji w tym obszarze. Trzy pytania zostały zaczerpnięte z badań prowadzonych przez Jaworowską (2009). Grupa uczestników badania składała się z 86 osób będących studentami psychologii UJ. Wybrane wyniki porównano z wynikami badań przeprowadzonych przez Jaworowską (2009), która badała przekonania psychologów na podobny sam temat. Wyniki badań. Uczestnicy badania byli zgodni co do tego, że jedynie wykwalifikowani psychologowie powinni stosować testy psychologiczne, niemniej ta grupa osób badanych była w tej kwestii bardziej liberalna w porównaniu do psychologów (d=0,29). Zaobserwowano zmianę przekonań wraz z kolejnymi latami studiów – im wyższy rok studiów, tym bardziej konserwatywny stosunek do udostępniania testów psychologicznych grupom zawodowym innym niż psychologowie. Ograniczenia badań. Badania zostały przeprowadzone wyłącznie na studentach psychologii jednej uczelni. Możliwe jest zatem, że wyniki są pośrednio związane z systemem kształcenia, który został przyjęty na Uniwersytecie Jagiellońskim. Wnioski. Studenci psychologii prezentują w sprawie udostępniania narzędzi psychologicznych innym grupom niż psychologowie podejście nieco bardziej liberalne niż psychologowie. Należy jednak zaznaczyć, że jest to nadal w przeważającej części negatywne stanowisko, a zatem studenci sądzą, że narzędzia psychologiczne powinny być dostępne jedynie dla psychologów. Widoczny jest wpływ czasu kształcenia na przekonania w tej kwestii.

The article is an invitation to a discussion on creating a continuing education system in the field of psychological assessment in Poland. This kind of learning is recommended in numerous documents relating to assessment practice, including the rules of obtaining EuroPsy – the European Certificate in Psychology. There is no coherent and commonly accessible system of learning and verifying assessment competencies in Poland. A degree in psychology alone is enough to be allowed to use all the assessment tools available. Research on the education of psychologists suggests that continuing education combined with clinical practice is the best way of developing assessment competencies. In this context, the article addresses a number of problems – and questions derived from them – that focus on the task of organizing such a system in Poland.

This study aimed to develop and validate two parallel scales to measure the psychological L2 speaking and listening needs of 863 English-as-a-foreign language (EFL) learners. The associations between three psychological needs (i.e., autonomy, competence, and relatedness) of L2 speaking and of L2 listening were examined to develop insights into oracy (i.e., integration of speaking and listening) in L2 communication. Subsequently, the impact of demographic variables was explored. The data, collected via a 5-point Likert-scale questionnaire, were analyzed through descriptive and correlation analysis, factor analysis, and ANOVA. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted to determine the factor structures, followed by confirmatory factor analysis for validation. Results demonstrated that the validity and reliability of the two developed scales were satisfactory. L2 speaking autonomy was significantly related to L2 listening autonomy, as were competence and relatedness. The three psychological needs of both L2 speaking and listening revealed varying patterns in terms of gender, major, university geographical context, schooling stage (first year to fourth year), and study-abroad experiences. The research findings reinforce the need for integration of L2 speaking and L2 listening when satisfying university students’ psychological needs, contribute to the research field with the measurement scales of psychological needs in L2 speaking and listening settings, and yield implications for teaching the two language skills integratedly.

The article deals with the study of basic scientific positions of informational space of personality within geographical, media technical and semiotic paradigms. Given the understanding of informational space as a certain projection of a single space-time of informational processes the effectiveness of its influence reflected in the psychological field should be taken into consideration. Informational and psychological safety context is helpful for both the individual as well as for the other social subjects, as safety identity is associated with the concepts of adaptation, resilience, stability and orderliness. Exactly these concepts are the criteria of informational and psychological safety of personality. The main goals and objectives of providing the informational and psychological safety of personality regard the identification and analysis of sources of negative informational psychological influences, organization of psychological defense of different levels social subjects, development of the legal framework of providing the informational and psychological safety, etc., creating a favorable public opinion and climate in society that promotes the democratic transformations and economic reforms. Decisive role plays the thought out constructive strategy of information activities and important condition for its organization is optimal mobilization of science potential.
W artykule zostały zbadane główne czynniki informacyjnej przestrzeni osobowości jako nauki. W badaniu informacyjnej przestrzeni najbardziej rozpowszechnione są paradygmaty: geograficzny (przestrzeń informacyjna jest utożsamiana z obszarem geograficznym i geopolitycznym), mediatechniczny (przestrzeń informacyjna jako infrastruktura środków produkcyjnych, zachowania i rozpowszechnienia informacji) i semiotyczny (analiza produkcji, kodowanie i dekodowanie, popularyzacja informacji jako kultury powszechnej i produkcji środków społecznego przekazu). Należy zauważyć, że właśnie semiotyczne podejście kreuje rozumienie „informacyjnego pola osobowości”, które zbliża semiotyczne właściwości przestrzeni informacyjnej do charakterystyki psychologicznej poprzez jej interpretację informacji, która jest składnikiem świadomości społecznej i informacji unikalnej, niepowtarzalnej, dotyczącej konkretnej osoby. Oprócz zaprezentowanych zasad, zostały zmodyfikowane aspekty badań wpływu mediów na osobowość. Przegląd kwestii podsumowuje modyfikacja teoretycznego modelowania komunikacji masowej w zakresie informacyjnej przestrzeni człowieka. Zostały konkretyzowane zasoby medialne i ich skuteczne oddziaływanie na świadomość człowieka. Zauważono, że poziom skuteczności jest głównym wskaźnikiem wzmocnienia lub osłabienia wpływu komunikacji masowej na odbiorców. Prezentowane koncepcje teoretyczne określają kierunki praktycznego badania treści przestrzeni informacyjnej, która jest metasystemem, w którym naturalnym elementem jest każda wiadomość. Międzyosobowy element komunikacji masowej w rozumieniu klasycznym jest tłumaczony w zakresie interkomunikacji i teorii rolowych. Nową alternatywą jest teoria relacyjna, która twierdzi, że przestrzeń informacyjna jest przestrzenią rozpowszechnienia pewnej informacji, czyli przestrzenią wdrażania procesów informacyjnych z całokształtem przestrzennego systemu komunikacji, czyli ciągłością, strukturalnością, współistnieniem i wzajemnym oddziaływaniem składników. Ze względu na odbiór przestrzeni informacyjnej jako pewnej projekcji jedynej przestrzeni czasu procesów informacyjnych, koniecznie należy uwzględnić skuteczność jej wpływu, co znajduje swoje odzwierciedlenie w sferze psychologicznej. Kontekst bezpieczeństwa informacyjno-psychologicznego jest wygodny zarówno dla poszczególnej jednostki, jak też dla innych podmiotów społecznych, ponieważ bezpieczeństwo osobowości jest związane z pojęciem adaptacji, stałości, stabilizacji, uporządkowania. Te pojęcia są znakiem rozpoznawczym informacyjno-psychologicznego bezpieczeństwa jednostek. Główne cele i zadania zachowania informacyjno-psychologicznego bezpieczeństwa jednostki dotyczą ujawnienia i analizy źródeł negatywnych wpływów informacyjno-psychologicznych; organizacji obrony psychologicznej podmiotów społecznych na różnym poziomie; opracowania bazy prawnej zachowania bezpieczeństwa informacyjno-psychologicznego itp; tworzenia pozytywnej opinii publicznej klimatu społecznego, które promują reformy demokratyczne i gospodarcze. Decydującą rolę odgrywa w tym przemyślana konstrukcyjna strategia działalności informacyjnej, istotowym warunkiem której jest optymalna mobilizacja potencjału nauki.

W artykule przedstawiono cele oraz sposób i zasady opracowywania ekspertyzy psychologicznej dla potrzeb wymiaru sprawiedliwości w przypadkach samobójczej śmierci dzieci i nastolatków. Specyfika pracy biegłego psychologa przy wykonywania tego typu opinii polega na tym, że wypowiada się on o osobie, z którą nie miał osobistego kontaktu i nie mógł przeprowadzić jej badań. Hipotezy dotyczące ewentualnych motywów śmierci samobójczej i wnioskowanie biegłych oparte są więc na danych pośrednich. Psycholog dokonuje tzw. psychologicznej autopsji, czyli dąży do odtworzenia sylwetki psychologicznej osoby zmarłej w tragicznych okolicznościach i ustalenia występujących u niej przed śmiercią czynników ryzyka samobójstwa. Omówiono także źródła danych, które biegli mogą mieć do dyspozycji, sposób ich pozyskiwania oraz kolejne etapy postępowania psychologa podczas przeprowadzania ekspertyzy. Na podstawie konkretnych przypadków z praktyki biegłych wskazano główne problemy, jakie pojawiają się podczas wypowiadania się w sprawach samobójstw dokonanych w tej grupie wiekowej.
This article presents the goals and methods of preparing psychological expert’s report on a suicidal death of a child or an adolescent for the administration of justice. The specifics of working on such cases come from the fact that the expert needs to elaborate on a person, whom s/he has never met and therefore was not able to examine. All the experts’ hypotheses regarding the plausible motifs of the suicide, as well as their deductions are based on the circumstantial data. The psychologist performs a so-called psychological autopsy, i.e. (s)he aims at recreating the profile of the deceased in the middle of the tragic circumstances and ascertains risk factors that might lead to a suicide. The article will detail data sources, which are at experts’ disposal, methods of achieving them and various stages of creating an expert’s opinion. Based on real cases the article will also point out the main challenges that can raise while researching suicides in this age group.

WstępArtykuł prezentuje weryfikację struktury czynnikowej oraz wstępną walidację 2 narzędzi: Kwestionariusza upodmiotowienia psychologicznego wśród polskich pielęgniarek i położnych opracowanego przez Spreitzer oraz Kwestionariusza upodmiotowienia psychologicznego dla pacjentów opracowanego przez Schutza i wsp. na podstawie koncepcji Spreitzer. W koncepcji tej upodmiotowienie psychologiczne oznacza wewnętrzną motywację pracownika do kształtowania przekonania o znaczeniu własnej roli w organizacji. Analogicznie upodmiotowienie psychologiczne pacjenta to wewnętrzna motywacja, w której wyniku kształtuje on przekonania o znaczeniu roli pełnionej przez siebie w procesie leczenia. Celem badania były weryfikacje właściwości psychometrycznych polskich wersji kwestionariuszy oraz 4-czynnikowej struktury upodmiotowienia psychologicznego w próbach polskich pielęgniarek i pacjentów.Materiał i metodyBadania przeprowadzono na 29 oddziałach szpitalnych w 15 polskich szpitalach. Wzięło w nich udział 309 osób zatrudnionych na stanowisku pielęgniarki lub położnej w szpitalu oraz 305 pełnoletnich pacjentów. Treść pozycji została przetłumaczona z języka angielskiego przy zastosowaniu metody translacji zwrotnej.WynikiKonfirmacyjna analiza czynnikowa wykazała akceptowalne dopasowanie do danych 3-czynnikowego modelu upodmiotowienia psychologicznego (bez skali Nadawania osobistego znaczenia wykonywanej pracy) w próbie polskich pielęgniarek i położnych oraz modelu 4-czynnikowego w próbie polskich pacjentów. Skale obu narzędzi wykazują wysoką rzetelność. Wstępnie oszacowano także trafność kryterialną skal obu narzędzi.WnioskiPolskie wersje obu narzędzi wykazują zadowalające właściwości psychometryczne. Mogą być stosowane w badaniach pielęgniarek i położnych oraz w badaniach pacjentów.
BackgroundThe article presents the verification of the factor structure and preliminary validation of the following 2 measures: the Psychological Empowerment Instrument among Polish nurses and midwives, developed by Spreitzer, and the Psychological Empowerment Instrument for Patients developed by Schulz et al. based on Spreitzer’s conception. By that theoretical conception, psychological empowerment is an intrinsic motivation manifested in an individual’s orientation to his or her work role. Similarly, the patient’s psychological empowerment is an intrinsic motivation manifested in an individual’s orientation to his or her treatment process. The aim of the study was to test the psychometric properties of the Polish versions of both measures, and to verify the 4-factor structure of psychological empowerment in the samples of Polish nurses and patients.Material and MethodsThe study was conducted at 29 hospital wards of 15 Polish hospitals. The participants included 309 nurses or midwives employed in these hospitals, and 305 adult patients. Items were translated from the original English version using the back-translation method.ResultsThe confirmatory factor analysis showed the acceptable fit of the 3-factor model (without the Meaning) among Polish nurses and midwives, and the 4-factor model among Polish patients. The scales of both measures exhibit high reliability. Preliminary evidence for their criterion validity was also provided.ConclusionsThe Polish versions of both measures show satisfactory psychometric properties, being suitable for the evaluation of the levels of empowerment in nurses, midwives and patients.

The purpose of the article was to show the problem of female electoral activity in Poland. This subject fits into a current debate on the participation of women in political systems and its limitations. There are many obstacles that prevent women from political participation and their influence is still rather symbolic then real. The source of this situation is also historical and social. Moreover, young democracies are at greater risk of “marketing pathology” because their institutional mechanisms are not built on the foundations of civil society. The perception of politics differs among men and women, but this is mainly due to exogenous factors. Political marketing as a set of tools in the same range can affect men and women, although the differences appear at the level of self-creation of image, choice of strategy and the style of ruling after winning an election.

This study examined rural and urban Chinese adolescents’ (aged 13–19 years, N = 395) attitudes toward children’s self-determination and nurturance rights, and how these attitudes relate to various dimensions of socialization in their family and school environments, including perceptions of parental and teacher autonomy support and responsiveness and family and school democratic climate. Relations between these variables and psychological well-being also were examined. Perceived parent and teacher autonomy support and responsiveness and democratic climate differentially predicted attitudes toward each type of right and were positively correlated with adolescents’ psychological well-being. Our findings suggest that environments that are structured more democratically and that are responsive to children’s autonomy needs contribute to their psychological health and well-being in diverse cultural settings.

Aim. The aim of the paper is to present the results of research on the types of emotional self-regulation of women who have suffered from psychological abuse in family relations. Methods. 140 Ukrainian women who suffered from psychological abuse in the family were interviewed. For the analysis of the obtained results, methods of statistical processing of data were used. Results. It has been established that women who were victims of psychological abuse from members of their family may have different types of emotional self-regulation: "Emotionally unstable," "Adaptive," "Spontaneous." It is shown that women with emotionally unstable types of emotional self-regulation are emotionally unstable during psychological abuse in the family, which is manifested in their anxiety, tension, depression, self-criticism. It is said that women who are referred to as having the adaptive type of emotional self-regulation possess a sufficient level of neuropsychic stability and self-control and it has been established that women who are characterized by a spontaneous type of emotional self-regulation, when exposed to psychological abuse, have a low level of self-control, which indicates spontaneity and impulsivity in relationships with others. Conclusions. Еmotional self-regulation does not act as a tool to cancel negative experiences, but it is a change in these experiences for other that helps to optimize their condition. Еmotional self-regulation and the ability to manage one's own psychical state for the preservation of mental health are important in the context of psychological abuse in the family. Furthermore, it is emphasised on different types of emotional self-regulation of women in situations of psychological abuse in the family.

The paper discusses emotional intelligence as a factor of effective teaching. Emotional intelligence, in broad interpretation, is defined as the ability to differentiate between posi-tive and negative emotions, and the ability to change one’s emotional condition from a poor to a better one. Internal and external components are inherent in the emotional com-ponent, and they can provide stress protecting and adaptive functions of this integral con-cept. Also it highlights psychological characteristics of teachers working with children with developmental disorders. Psychological requirements for specialists who work with indi-viduals with special educational needs include psychological willingness of a personality for this work. This willingness can be considered as an integrated quality of a personality including a system of motivation, knowledge, skills, certain experience, personal qualities that ensure successful activity.

In the paper the author tries to illustrate the interplay between the construal of psychological distance and conceptualisation of faith in God in modern day Polish society. It is believed that psychological distance functions as a benchmark of how people, who declare themselves to be Christians, perceive faith in God. The paper contains the presentations of results of survey-based research carried out on a sample of 150 Polish people concerninig the reconstruction of linguistic worldview of faith in God. These results are organised into profiles.

The aim of study was to investigate the relationship between proactive coping strategies and the dimensions of identity formation, along with the role of biological sex and psychological gender as moderators for this relationship. We conducted analyses aimed at showing differences in terms of identity dimensions levels and proactive coping strategies used by a group of individuals with different biological sex and psychological gender. A group of 101 students from upper secondary schools (47 females, 54 males) from Pomeranian Voivodeship took part in the study. We used in our research The Dimensions of Identity Development Scale; The Psychological Gender Inventory and The Proactive Coping Inventory for Adolescents. We found, among others, that in the case of a proactive strategy, biological sex turned out to be a significant moderator in the relationship between this variable and identity dimensions: ruminative exploration, commitment-making and identification with commitment. In the case of instrumental support seeking, psychological gender turned out to be a significant moderator for the relationship between these variables and a part of identity dimensions. The obtained results show that, regardless of whether young people, in terms of characteristics that are stereotypically associated with biological sex, are described as aschematic (undifferentiated individuals) or schematic (sex-typed) when entering adulthood and attempting to constitute themselves, more often cope in a task-oriented manner by trying to create a set of information useful in difficult situations and aspire to obtain informational support from individuals in one’s own social network, who are regarded as safe people.
