W artykule przedstawiona została metoda testowania wyobraźni przestrzennej, którą wykorzystano jako element egzaminów wstępnych na Wydziale Wzornictwa Przemysłowego Uniwersytetu Technicznego w Koszycach (Słowacja). Autorka opisała sposób przeprowadzenia testów, opis statystyczny uzyskanych wyników oraz ich związek z oceną uzdolnień plastycznych kandydatów na w/w studia. Przeprowadzone badania nie wykazały związku między ocenami z testu na wyobraźnię przestrzenną a oceną z uzdolnień plastycznych. W końcowej części artykułu przeprowadzono analizę, której celem jest ustalenie przyczyn takiego stanu.

The main question posed in the article is whether the application of „role play" technics in therapy, various trainings or education justifies „role playing games". The conclusion of the article is that there is a singnificant difference between the aim of RPG and other applications of „role playing" technics. Moreover the great influence the role playing games may have on personality lead me to a further inąuiry into the message they convey. After having done such an inquiry I came to a conclusion that RPG does not favour proper development of personality and shaping a positive attitude towards the world. These games may also interfere with proper development of conscience. The conceptions, ideas, pseudo-scientific theories and the approach to specific situations in the game shape a improper attitudes towards situations in real life. Reflections presented in the article concern only the main principles of the RPG. The article does not treat of some other apects of role playing games concerning their contents and meaning. These aspects and materials mentioned in that part would need a more thorough study and another article. If, as my research indicates, the increase of interest in RPG is a fact the whole issue would need a further surveying and exploration.

Opis:
Pedagogical practices that cultivate the capacities for individuals to think and to reason for themselves play a critical part in promoting the individual’s participation in democratic politics. Political deliberation and public decisions that give the will to live together its direction depend on the abilities of citizens to engage critically with the issues and challenges that threaten the common good. In this article, I argue that the kind of cultural knowledge that a liberal arts education traditionally entails also contributes to the individuals’ self-formation. The semantic complexity of the concept of Bildung bears out this connection between the cultivation of one’s aptitudes and the power to exercise one’s own judgment. This power in turn highlights the role played by imagination in reforming or revolutionizing praxis. In this regard, the experiences afforded by music, literature, cinema, theater and works of art teach us to be open to new ways of thinking, feeling and acting. Similarly, the schooling in phronesis that supports the development of the individual’s autonomy is at the same time a cultural good and a pedagogical obligation.
Działania pedagogiczne, skoncentrowane na pielęgnowaniu u jednostek władz związanych z myśleniem i rozumowaniem, odgrywają istotną rolę w promowaniu udziału tychże jednostek w demokratycznym życiu politycznym. Polityczne myślenie i wspólne decyzje, które wyznaczają kierunek rozwoju, zależą od zdolności poszczególnych obywateli do krytycznego zaangażowania się w sprawy i wyzwania godzące we wspólne dobro. W powyższym artykule wykazuję, że wiedza kulturowa, tradycyjnie przekazywana przez dyscypliny humanistyczne, również przyczynia się do kształtowania przez jednostkę samej siebie. Semantyczna złożoność pojęcia Bildung potwierdza związek pomiędzy rozwijaniem własnych uzdolnień i ćwiczeniem swojej władzy sądzenia. Ta władza z kolei podkreśla rolę, jaką odgrywa wyobraźnia w reformowaniu i rewolucjonizowaniu praktyki. Dlatego też doświadczenia zyskiwane dzięki muzyce, literaturze, kinu, teatrowi i dziełom sztuki uczą nas otwartości na nowe sposoby myślenia, odczuwania i działania. Podobnie nauczanie w ramach fronesis, wspierające rozwój autonomii jednostki, jest zarazem kulturowym dobrem i wymogiem pedagogicznym.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie refleksji nad wielowymiarowym zagadnieniem wyobraźni. Zaprezentowano definicję i pojęcie wyobraźni oraz wyobrażeń w wybranych kontekstach: wyobraźni twórczej vs odtwórczej, potencjału kreatywności i muzykoterapii. Przybliżono wyobraźnię muzyczną, występującą w modalności słuchowej, sygnalizując terapeutyczny aspekt wyobrażeń muzycznych i wyobraźni.     
The aim of the article is to present a reflection on the multidimensional issue of imagination. The definition and concept of imagination and imaginings in selected contexts are presented: creative vs. reproductive imagination, creativity potential and music therapy. Musical imagination, occurring in the auditory modality, was explained, signaling the therapeutic aspect of musical imagination.

The topic of the article is the poetical reaction of Juliusz Słowacki to the crisis of culture in the early 40s of the 19th century. Epiphanic awareness of the theological dimension of the space has beenconfronted with conviction about the disintegration of language, which has lost the ability to give the appearance of reality. Słowacki expressed confidence that the source of his mystical vision of the universe is ideal perception. Therefore, description of the mystical worldview requires the new concept art, the project of original model of the poetic language with the symbolic imagination in the foreground. Interpretation of the “Genesis” philosophy cannot be based on human experience – cannot be expressed in adequate and direct performances. In the discussed issue, discursive language is not suitable, because of the loosening of categories traditionally used to describe reality. Thus, Słowacki was forced to use ambiguous signs, which would allow one to understand the sense of revelation.
Sednem rozważań jest poetycka reakcja Juliusza Słowackiego na stan wyczerpania kultury, którego poeta doświadczył na początku lat 40. XIX wieku. Uzyskana na drodze epifanii świadomość teleologicznego wymiaru kosmosu została zestawiona z dominującym wówczas przekonaniem o rozpadzie języka – Logos stracił zdolność dawania pozorów rzeczywistości. Słowacki wyraził pewność, że sposób, w jaki odczuł utajoną dotychczas wizję uniwersum, utożsamia percepcję idealną. Deskrypcja mistycznego światopoglądu wymagała zatem stworzenia koncepcji sztuki, która zmieni pisarstwo w posłannictwo, a świat „glansowanych rękawiczek” zastąpi ideą nowej wiary. Ramy tego ambitnego projektu wyznacza oryginalny model języka, którego kołem zamachowym jest wyobraźnia symboliczna. Wykładnia filozofii genezyjskiej nie może podlegać ludzkiemu doświadczeniu – nie daje się wyrazić w przedstawieniach adekwatnych i bezpośrednich. Język dyskursywny nie spełnia w tym przypadku zadania poznawczego ze względu na rozchwianie kategorii tradycyjnie używanych do opisu rzeczywistości. Słowacki był zmuszony więc odwołać się do znaków, które przez swoją niejednoznaczność oddadzą migotliwy, przepełniony sprzecznościami sens objawienia.

Artykuł stanowi próbę zbadania charakteru współczesnej ekonomicznej wyobraźni Po- laków. Metodą ankietowego badania reprezentatywnego zrekonstruowane zostały ogólne (złożone) zespoły wyobrażeń na temat czynników korzystnych dla gospodarki jako całości, poszczególnych przedsiębiorstw oraz ludzi. Zbadane zostały determinanty poglądów tworzą- cych ogólniejsze wyobrażenia na ten temat, a także ich wpływ na stopień akceptacji demo- kracji.
The paper attempts at investigation of contemporary economic imagination of the Poles. Representative survey data have been used to reconstruct general (composite) dimensions of imaginations of the factors beneficial to economic success on the levels of national economy, individual enterprises and people. The determinants of these imaginations on the one hand and their impact on attitudes to democracy on the other have been measured and discussed.

Z oczywistych względów tekst ten nie wyczerpuje tematu, ale stanowi punkt wyjścia do jego zgłębienia w przyszłości.
The strategic imagination is one of the key competences in the strategic management, although often is ignored. The role of the strategic imagination in management is particularly evident in variable and uncertain reality. Due to the important role of the media in shaping the opinion of the society, in this article I attempted to analyze the perception of the strategic imagination on the basis of selected articles in the daily newspapers. For obvious reasons, this text does not exhaust the subject, but it is the starting point for his exploration in the future.

A pilot study concerning rudimentary knowledge of triangles and spatial imagination is submitted to 7th-grade pupils of an elementary school and students of the same age at a grammar school. The theory is important but practical problems are more interesting for students. Problems in spatial imagination allow a teacher to specify the level of students' mathematical abilities. The aim of this pre-research is to compare knowledge of pupils of an elementary school and a grammar school.

Among many warning lights of crisis which, contemporary culture is frequently charged with, the crisis of art as a pictural expression of faith went through the official announcement of the Church. The most dramatic speech on this subject was delivered by the pope Paul VI in the 'sixties. The causes of the crisis, however, are complicated and manifold, and they are not to be reduced to any single agent. The author of the paper points out a particular factor to be taken into account when the history of doctrines − philosophical as well as theological ones − are under enquiry. The doctrinal development was strongly influenced by the standpoint of the ecclesiastical officials prescribing the principles, rules and conditions which had to be observed by the artists and their works in order to be admitted to the sanctuaries and to participate in the acts of cult. The author is of the opinion that the important cause of the contemporary crisis of art functioning in the space of cult has its roots in some time-honawed stereotypes that prevailed over Latin ecclesiastical mentality since the Middle Ages. This was an epoch when the significant and long-standing polarization of the doctrinal viewpoints concerning art between Christian East and West came into action. Byzantine theologians in the train of the iconoclastic controversy had worked out a mature doctrine of the image-worship that was accepted as the „triumph of Orthodoxy” by the Second Nicene Council (787). They interpreted sacred images in terms of the sacraments, as the means of initiation into the mysteries of faith and the visual symbolic celebration of the mystic presence of the Holy. „The art became inseparable from theology” (John Meyendorff). The Latin Church charged the ecclesiastical art with cautious, pragmatic precepts reducing its functions to the didactic, illustrating and decorative aims. The Libri Carolini (794) named the main role the sacred art was to play „the Scripture for illiterates” (biblia pauperum) warning against worshipping the images for fear of idolatry. The art wasn't mentioned even as a „maid servant of theology”. This western doctrinal reductionism doesn't bring about crisis at once. The baroque art was still able to express fervently the living faith and nourish the taste of believers with imaginary force and sense of holiness. The crisis − the separation of artistic claims and demands of ecclesiastical sponsors − revealed itself during the 19th century. Art proclaimed autonomy (l'art pour l'art) and the Church settled for the artistic production orthodox as to the content but eclectic, second-rate, average and styleless. Thus began an invasion of a daub the sacred places. Did this situation result from the priority assigned to a word − spoken and written − so typical of western mentality? Or due to the peculiar pragmatism and ingrained prejudice that make Latins believe art to be inferior to the contemplative actions and set it up in the rank of serviceable means void of any dignity? Or, as the case may be, the restrictive legalism fed, the settled doubt and reserve toward the famous disobedience of human faculty producing images, or even more of this, the developing sensualism, naturalism and hedonism of modern esthetics strenghten this retreat from the sacred symbolism and sterilized art from the sense of holiness? No one can give easy answer to these questions. The Second Vatican Council became the first foreboding of the real change of mind at least. The Constitution of Liturgy with respect to sacred art returns to the forgotten ideas and statements of the Second Nicene Council. The Constitution defines the works of sacred art as „signs and symbols of the supreme reality” and artistic creativity as „the holy imitation of God the Creator”. Using the concept of symbol in the context of liturgical action seems to be the most important issue. This doesn't mean, of course, that the documents of the Council present a mature theological doctrine of art. This doctrine is still to be worked out. The concept of symbol is in itself very ambiguous. Moreover, no less difficult is the question of the dialogue between modern (or „postmodern”) art and the Church; between artists, fond of their freedom and right to experiment and contest, and the ecclesiastical sponsor caring of the purity of sanctuaries and of the faith of believers. It must be said frankly that contemporary artistic communities are settled aside the sacred space and places. They are not accustomed with the religious and ecclesiastical demands of cult, worship, liturgy, or sensitivity at all. But they are also in search of some kind of mystery, solemnity, ritual gestures and performances. And often they find all of this in any possible form of deviation, even of a blasphemy. On the other hand, we can observe the warning benality wearing, strumming of liturgy itself. Both symptoms of crisis are a challenge to Christian culture. And both point to the „lost paradigm” of the religious creative imagination which cannot find the appropriate forms of self-expression − in art and in liturgy as well. The remedy to this situation lays not in the healing of doctrine alone. The most urging need is „to let the artists enter into the sacred places” − as Paul VI put it − let them learn how to become full-fledged participants in the holy mysteries, how to organize the space and time of cult.

The  critic  of  the  fundamental  foundations  of  the  traditional  historiography  was/is particularly influential from the point of view proposed by widely  understood constructivism. It questioned that reality is something external and independent from cognition, and that the truth or falsity of its results depends on the  nature of the world. In light of constructivism knowledge cannot be treated as an  effect of the relation between the subject and object, its shape is not defined  by  the external world and, finally, that the scientific  apparatus does not provide an  adequate image (description) of the world (independent from culture). In this way from the constructivists’ conceptions of history we cannot say that  “the past is real”, at least, “not the past as it is used by historians”. The images  of the past are therefore a construction and are intelligible, not because of their  own nature, but because of the a priori criteria which establish their intelligibility  and which contribute to the knowledge of historians or the society in which they  operate. Historians can be perceived as a part of the whole system, and their  social credibility depends not only on (historical) sources, but on the fact that their  discourse has its roots in cultural, social and linguistic prejudices that shape our  perception of reality (or the past).  Within the framework of these changes the category of (historical) imagination  and its part in possible images of the past formulated by historians arouses special  interest. From this point of view we can see (historical) imagination as a tool  participating in constructing images of the past. Reflection  on historical imagination  in this way can lead to showing in new light not only the cultural prejudices of  historical cognition (historical studies), but above all the reason for the necessity  to reformulate the investigative programs and the forms of representing the past. The problems and questions raised in the article derive perhaps only from  necessity a fundamental change of our relation to imagination. So in everyday life,  the media, art, literature, and also scientific  discourse, imagination – often even in  defiance  of arguments that some time appear in social and scientific   circulation – is identified  as “fiction  and fantasy”, and leads to it being treated  as an alternative for “truth and reality”. Meanwhile, it seems that likewise we do not think about  a given culture that is true or false, so we should not also bring discussion on imagination into problems of its falsity or fictionality  irrespective of whether we  treat imagination as a “child of culture” or inversely, culture as a “child of  imagination”. However, we wish to emphasize at this point, that it is not our intention  to suggest that (historical) imagination is the (essential or crucial) tool of  cognition of past reality, but rather we ask if imagination has such an essential part in  historical knowledge, can we perceive it in the investigative practice of historians.  Therefore, we do not try to force the thesis that the stories composed by historians  are the work of imagination, but rather that representation (re-presence) of the  past is possible with, or even thanks to, (historical) imagination.

Artykuł dotyczy społecznej praktyki wytwarzania cyfrowych map dźwiękowych (soundmappingu) w perspektywie interdyscyplinarnej łączącej antropologię dźwięku, ekologię akustyczną, psychogeografię oraz krytyczną kartografię. Mapy dźwiękowe są tu ujęte jako czasoprzestrzenne, audiowizualne, cyfrowe (re)prezentacje powstające kolektywnie w oparciu o mechanizm user-generated content i bazujące na globalnych mapach takich jak Google Maps czy OpenStreetMap. W artykule rozważam kwestię map dźwiękowych rozumianych jako doświadczenie o charakterze lokatywnym i transfonicznym, które pozawalają definiować użycie map dźwiękowych jako proces wyobrażeniowy.
The article discusses practices of creating sound maps. I refer to these practices as cartographic and social. The starting point are internet sound maps for listening. In the article, I define them as audiovisual, digital representations that are created collaboratively based on the user-generated content mechanism and have internet interfaces based on global maps such as Google Maps or OpenStreetMap. The main aim of the article is to look at soundmapping practices in the context of shaping audiogeographic imagination and transphonic and locative listening. The main perspective of my considerations is the anthropologized perspective of critical, unrepresentative cartography. I show the development of sound maps that interest me, define their specificity and indicate conceptual problems related to the representation of the experience of a soundscape in the medium of a sound map.

Referring to the ‘aquatic imagination’ of artist Jason deCaires Taylor, this article analyses underwater museums – artistic installations that are gaining more and more popularity as unusual tourist attractions. Sinking art seems to be a process somewhat opposite to the mainstream in museology, i.e. searching for works of art and other artefacts and retrieving them from the bottom of the sea or the ocean where they ended up due to a disaster (e.g. wrecks of various types, ancient art), and placing them in the space of traditional museums. Adopting the perspective of cultural studies and taking into account the intertwining of perceptual, symbolic and conceptual aspects of understanding water allowed us to broaden the area of reflection and analyse the phenomenon of underwater museums not only as an alternative exhibition space for contemporary sculptures or a new type of alternative tourism, but also as a particular cultural phenomenon. The primary aim of the article is to consider Taylor’s sculptures as cultural artefacts that point to a continuous multi-directional relationship between humans and creatures living in the ocean’s depths – particularly in the context of the Anthropocene as well as many other cultural contexts.

In the article Socratic questioning, narrative imagination and world citizenship I focus on the problem of social role of contemporary education and the meaning of the humanities and the humanistic education. I address these issues in the context of the analysis and comments to Martha C. Nussbaum’s book Not for Profit. Why Democracy Needs the Humanities. I present my interpretation of the pedagogical manifesto of this book and also consider the problem of “ethical instruction”, the role of literature in education and ethical dimensions of narrative. In addition, I critically comment on selected topics of contemporary Polish debates on the place and importance of the humanities in general education.

Artykuł powstał w szczytowym okresie pandemii koronawirusa w Polsce (choroby COVID-19). Analizuje sytuację poznawczą w czasie epidemii, odwołując się do zagadnień epistemologicznych i metodologicznych. Opisuje kondycję wyobraźni apokaliptycznej i stan dyskursu publicznego na temat apokalipsy. W artykule wykorzystano dwa typy źródeł. Po pierwsze, przeanalizowano próbę celową postapokaliptycznych tekstów kultury popularnej, obejmującą 308 filmów oraz 201 powieści i opowiadań. Po drugie, przebadano folklor internetowy, w tym przede wszystkim memy będące grafikami (zebrane w marcu i kwietniu 2020 r.). Tekst dowodzi, że nie jesteśmy świadkami proliferacji myślenia apokaliptycznego. Użytkownicy Internetu wykorzystują klisze kultury popularnej (czerpane przede wszystkim z dzieł postapokaliptycznych) i posługują się świecką wizją czasu jako nieograniczonego postępu.
This paper was written during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Poland. It provides an analysis of the cognitive situation in the time of epidemic through the lenses of epistemological and meth- odological positions. It describes the condition of apocalyptic visions and the state of public discourse vis-à-vis the question of the apocalypse. The paper is based on two types of sources. First, a sample of post-apoca-lyptic pop-culture pieces, including 308 movies and 201 novels and short stories. Second, web folklore, including memes (collected in March and April 2020). The paper argues that we are not witnessing a proliferation of apocalyptic attitudes. Internet users focus mainly on repurposing pop culture clichés (borrowed mainly from post-apocalyptic works) and presenting the secular vision of time as a source of unlimited progress.

The article treats the aquatic imagination of Zofia Nałkowska in her early and late works. The matter of water is in Nałkowska’s writing strongly connected with an image of women, but, as the author claims, not in the way Gaston Bachelard pointed out in his works. Nałkowska throughout her writing attemped to re-think and re-write the Ophelia complex (or the Ophelia myth), indicating cultural and social aspects of women’s choices. The more adequate theory describing women’s relation with water is the one proposed in Luce Irigaray’s essays.

Powołując się na wprowadzoną przez Wrighta Millsa kategorię wyobraźni socjologicznej autorki stawiają pytanie o obecność studiów nad niepełnosprawnością w socjologii. Przedstawienie teoretycznych modeli niepełnosprawności w naukach społecznych staje się punktem wyjścia rozważań metodologicznych, związanych z prowadzeniem badań wyznaczonych przez społeczny model niepełnosprawności. Refleksji poddano zarówno założenia, jak i praktykę prezentowanych badań jakościowych, dotyczących genderowego wymiaru niepełnosprawności. Są one analizowane w aspekcie komplementarności wymiarów badawczego i emancypacyjnego oraz jako splot perspektyw indywidualnych, strukturalnych i obywatelskich. Autorki, lokując swoje badania w perspektywie metodologii feministycznej i socjologii zaangażowanej, podkreślają: ich procesualny i wzmacniający charakter, przełamanie tradycyjnych relacji badacz/ka – osoba badana, unikanie narzucania siatki pojęciowej badaczki i uznanie kompetencji uczestniczek badań, jak również konieczność zapewnienia pełnej dostępności jako warunku podmiotowego traktowania uczestniczek.
Referring to the concept of sociological imagination introduced by Charles Wright Mills, the authors reflect on the place of disability studies in sociology. Presenting theoretical models of disability in social sciences becomes a starting point for a discussion of methodological insights concerning research based on the social model of disability. They are analyzed both from the point of view of complementarity between research and emancipatory dimension and as a combination of individual, structural and civic perspectives. The authors situate their research in the perspective of feminist methodology and public sociology. They stress its process aspect and empowering effects as well as the resulting breach of traditional relationship between the researcher and the subject. They also discuss the avoidance of imposing the researcher’s conceptual network and recognition of the participants’ competences as well as the necessity to provide for as full an accessibility as possible as a condition of subjective approach to the participants of research.

Artykuł podejmuje próbę określenia pojęcia „rozeznania duszpasterskiego” w oparciu o ekfrazy (obrazy słowne, które mają na celu mobilizację wyobraźni i unaocznianie tego, co ważne) w adhortacji apostolskiej Amoris laetitia. Zawiera ogólną refleksję na temat języka adhortacji i kluczowych sformułowań na temat rozeznania jako praktyki osobistej i eklezjalnej. Praktyka ta w kontekście modlitwy ma na celu przybliżyć znaki, symbole, pomóc zrozumieć uczucia, myśli i spełnić rolę „wglądu” w poszczególne sytuacje osoby podejmującej decyzje. W zgłębieniu pojęcia „rozeznania” służą pomocą myśli trzech teologów moralistów: Williama Spohna, Jamesa Gustafsona i Edwarda Vacka. Główna dyskusja toczy się wokół relacji pomiędzy prawem i przepisami a rzeczywistością, której nie da się opisać w kolorach czarno-białych, a która jest często wieloznaczna. Przytoczone zostały podejścia papieża Franciszka, który w oparciu o zasadę „stopniowości” oraz cnoty miłości miłosiernej, przypatrywania i przywiązywania uwagi, nawołuje do „cierpliwego realizmu”, postrzegania rozeznającego Kościoła jako „szpitala polowego”, „schroniska” i rodziny, która nie waha się wyjść poza literę prawa.
This paper examines the notion of “pastoral discernment” in the post-synodal exhortation Amoris laetitia. It attempts to find out what Pope Francis means by his frequently used term “discernment” and how he sees the role of discernment in the lives of individuals as well as an ecclesial practice. This practice, which takes place in prayer, aims at reading signs, symbols, emotions, thoughts; it seeks to acquire an insight or a set of insights into the specific situation of the discerning person. To illuminate further the practice of discernment, three moral theological works, by William Spohn, James Gustafson and Edward Vacek, will be briefly explored. The article examines the language and ekphrases (verbal images) and argues that Pope Francis in this document reclaims imagination as an important tool for pastoral discernment. The main discussion touches upon the relationship between moral norms and regulations on the one hand and the human reality that is seldom black and white and cannot be adequately captured by legalistic approaches. Attention will be drawn to Pope Francis’ endorsement of the principle of graduality and qualities of mercy, gazing, attentiveness and “patient realism” as well as to the possibility of the discerning Church model, which is best captured in such images as “field hospital”, “shelter”, and “family”.

In the years 2011-2014, a research on geometrical predispositions was conducted among the first-year students of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Land Surveying at the Agricultural University of Cracow. Students of four faculties were included in the research. Each of the 280 included students answered 10 simple questions regarding geometry, which were designed to assess to our best ability especially the spatial imagination of the students. Also, the knowledge of basic geometry, acquired in primary and secondary school, was essential. What is more, the students could also show their drawing abilities, but it was the oral exam that prevailed. To sum up our research, we can support the thesis, that the predispositions of the spatial imagination of the students Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Land Surveying at the Agricultural University of Cracow in the years 2011 – 2014 were directly connected to the field of study. It could result from the attractiveness of the faculty itself, which is strictly connected to the number of candidates – different on each faculty.
W latach 2011-14, wśród studentów rozpoczynających I rok studiów na Wydziale Inżynierii Środowiska i Geodezji Uniwersytetu Rolniczego w Krakowie przeprowadzono badania predyspozycji geometrycznych. Objęto nimi osoby przyjęte na cztery kierunki studiów. Każdy z badanych 280 studentów odpowiadał na 10 prostych pytań z zakresu geometrii, pozwalających ocenić w miarę możliwości przede wszystkim wyobraźnię przestrzenną, przy czym niezbędna była również wiedza z podstawowych zagadnień geometrycznych uzyskiwana w szkole podstawowej i średniej. Ponadto studenci mogli wykazać się umiejętnością rysowania, ale liczyła się odpowiedź słowna. W podsumowaniu badań, można przychylić się do tezy, że predyspozycje wyobraźni przestrzennej u studentów Wydziału Inżynierii Środowiska i Geodezji Uniwersytetu Rolniczego w Krakowie w latach 2011-14 były bezpośrednio związane z kierunkiem studiów. Mogło to wynikać z atrakcyjności kierunku, a co za tym idzie liczbą kandydatów - różną na poszczególnych kierunkach.

The paper presents three experiments where metaphorical thinking, visualization and visual art expression were important elements. A characteristic feature of the first experiment was the use of thinking by means of analogy and metaphorical thinking with verbal and visual expressions. In the second experiment related to creative imagination, visual metaphor was dominant. The third experiment was an intermedia creative workshop, in which multimodal metaphors and playing with a specific plot were significant features. Combining physical, virtual and mental spaces as well as moving participants between mixed extended real and virtual spaces were also key factors. The intermedia creative workshop was organized by students of art education in two stages. In the first stage, they designed the workshop while in the second stage, the workshop was run among early-school-age children.
W artykule przedstawiono trzy eksperymenty, w których ważne było myślenie metaforyczne, wizualizacja i ekspresja plastyczna. Charakterystyczną cechą pierwszego eksperymentu było wykorzystanie myślenia przez analogię i myślenia metaforycznego z ekspresją werbalną i wizualną, w drugim eksperymencie związanym z wyobraźnią twórczą dominowała metafora wizualna. W trzecim, mającym charakter intermedialnych warsztatów twórczych, znaczącymi elementami były metafory multimodalne i zabawa z konkretną fabułą. Ważnym czynnikiem było także łączenie przestrzeni fizycznej, wirtualnej i mentalnej, przemieszczanie się uczestników w mieszanej, rozszerzonej przestrzeni realnej i wirtualnej. Intermedialne warsztaty twórcze realizowane były przez studentów edukacji artystycznej w dwóch etapach. Na pierwszym studenci tworzyli projekty warsztatów, na drugim warsztat realizowano wśród dzieci w wieku wczesnoszkolnym.

W niniejszym artykule idę tropem tego, co można odnaleźć w literaturze pięknej jako przydatnej wiedzy dla socjologii. Uznaję, że świat społeczny zawarty w literaturze pięknej można traktować jako źródło „inspiracji do analizy socjologicznej” (P. Ćwikła), a także jako samo pole badawcze. Poruszam również interesującą kwestię badawczą, jaką jest związek między wyobraźnią socjologiczną a wyobraźnią literacką. Obie są ze sobą pokrewne i obie mają równie ważne zadania w opisywaniu, rozumieniu (czy próbie zrozumienia) rzeczywistości społecznej. Można rzec, że wyobraźnia literacka jest starszą siostrą wyobraźni socjologicznej. Dlatego, moim zdaniem, socjolog nie powinien bagatelizować wyobraźni literackiej, a pisarz (literat) nie powinien bagatelizować wyobraźni socjologicznej. Staram się ukazać wagę obu wyobraźni dla rozumienia, opisywania i prezentowania rzeczywistości społecznej, zwłaszcza że nie można nie uznawać, że obie (wyobraźnie) przez swoje źródła – literaturę i socjologię – nie są ze sobą spokrewnione. Także uznaję, że literatura i socjologia mogą uczyć się od siebie nawzajem i dzięki temu rozwijać się (D. Alworth).
In this article, I follow the trail of it what can be found in the fine literature (belles-lettres) as a useful knowledge for sociology. I recognize that the social world contained in the literature can be treated as a source of “inspiration for sociological analysis” (P. Ćwikła) and also as a research field. I also raise an interesting research issue, which is the relationship between sociological imagination and literary imagination. Both are related and both have equally important tasks in describing, understanding (or attempting to understand) social reality. It can be said that literary imagination is the older sister of sociological imagination. Therefore, in my opinion, a sociologist should not underestimate the literary imagination, and a writer (literary man) should not embroider the sociological imagination. The importance of both imaginations for understanding, describing and presenting social reality is becoming apparent, especially since it can not be said that both (imaginatively) through their sources – literature and sociology – are not related to each other. I also recognize that literature and sociology can learn from each other and thus develop (D. Alworth).

Przedstawiony tekst jest próbą opisania kategorii przyświadczenia, czyli momentu asercji, a zatem uznania czegoś za prawdę, przyjęcia, zrealizowania. Przyświadczenie i jego szczególne rozumienie stanowiło istotną część tradycji racjonalistycznej, zwłaszcza gdy chodziło o analizę ludzkiej wolności oraz racjonalnej natury człowieka. Natura racjonalna, wedle tej szkoły, jest wolna tylko wówczas, gdy przyświadcza temu, co jest oczywiste i samo w sobie logiczne. Jasność i wyraźność stały się najważniejszymi kryteriami. Jestem wolny tylko wtedy, gdy przyświadczam temu, co jasne i wyraźne. W artykule koncentruję się na krytycznej analizie przyświadczenia, jakiej dokonał w XIX wieku John Henry Newman (1801-1890). Brytyjski myśliciel rozróżnił pomiędzy przyświadczeniem pojęciowym, kruchym i niepewnym, oraz przyświadczeniem realnym, jako przyświadczeniem obrazom, faktom i osobom raczej niż pojęciom. Newman odróżnił takie przyświadczenie od formalnego aparatu wnioskowania. Interesuje go nie logiczne przejście od przesłanek do wniosku, ale to, jak człowiek w konkretnym doświadczeniu ma przyświadczać i osiągnąć pewność. Pewność osobowa nie jest tym samym, co pewność zdań. W pewności osobowej, której kluczowym elementem jest przyświadczenie realne, najważniejszą rolę odgrywa wyobraźnia.

The article "The Visual Imagination of Paul Celan - das Aug, dunkel" raises the problem of the poet's search for language and "the place, from where you can see the best perspective". It shows the number of methodological dilemmas which inevitably result from analysing the visual imagination. It speaks of "the eye" understood as the crucial element of Celan's poetics. The author questions in his article the common percepcion of Celan as a poet of Shoah (as if) shifting the momentum to the eye. The eye, reduced in the very grammatical form of the word (Auge is turned into Aug), gives the unity to Celan's work. The eye, the restless wanderer, accompanies this poetry from the first to the last poem. The author of the article ventures to elucidate various aspects of the use of the organ of vision in Celan's poetry and draws a conclusion that the consistent theory of visual perception is central to Celan's work.

Rodzące się nowożytne nauki społeczne stoczyły na przestrzeni wieku XIX bitwę z autorytetami religijnymi analogiczną do tej, jaką o swą legitymizację musiały stoczyć nauki przyrodnicze dwieście lat wcześniej. Walka ta zakończyła się zwycięstwem, ale nauki społeczne nie były w stanie całkowicie odciąć się od pojęć, metod i języka, jakim posługiwała się teologia, do analizy tego samego obszaru problemów. Rozwój socjologii jako dyscypliny akademickiej wiązał się z delegitymizacją teologii jako nauki społecznej. Niniejszy artykuł podkreśla konkurencyjny charakter „wyobraźni socjologicznej” wobec „wyobraźni religijnej” oraz analizuje konsekwencje „postmodernistycznego zwrotu” w naukach społecznych, który prowadzi ku nowej konceptualizacji relacji między socjologią a teologią.
In this paper I claim that basic premises and concepts of sociology are secularised versions of theological concepts, while the personal biographies of the early sociologists determined their attitude to religion and fostered the quasi-religious ambitions of the new discipline. Sociological imagination, as envisioned by C. W. Mills, was specifically supposed to replace religious imagination in explaining human fears, suffering and longings. However, the recent postmodern turn in humanities opened up a possibility of a post-secular sociology: one that is conscious of its own limits, mindful of ideological premises inherent in much of sociological research, and ready to appreciate the “sociological” insights present in other systems of knowledge, such as religion.

The article interprets eschatological and apocalyptic literary works recognized as most representative for the discussed subject. Especially important in the context of the included poets seems to be the transfer of the text “Apokalipsa” (“The Apocalypse”) into a realm of internal experience, which indicates not only an individual, but also a phantasmal essence of religious impression. Tetmajer often employs “reported dreams”, the poet does not utilize the specific oneiric technique, imitating the process of natural dreaming. The visions mainly express terrifying images of nihilistic nothingness and a loss of establishment in the macrocosm. Through dreams about the annihilation of the Earth Tetmajer presents existential is-sues connected to the act of creation and the human – God relation. The motifs of “a destructive-constructive genesis” evoke a rich context of the Kabbalah tradition. Based on the analysed poems we can deduct that Tetmajer’s writing is dominated by the inverted reading of the Apocalypse, although, paradoxically, the author of Melancholy leaves some hope leading to a perspective of salvation.

W pracy analizuję sposób formułowania sądu moralnego na przykładzie powieści Josepha Conrada Lord Jim. Koncentruję się na drugim etapie życia Jima, gdy triumf jego misji na Patusanie zostaje zniweczony przez błędną ocenę osoby Browna. W odpowiedzi na pytanie, co wpłynęło na sąd moralny Jima, analizuję (I) decyzję Jima, w świetle kilku interpretacji, w których kluczową rolę spełniają pojęcia: winy odczuwanej przez Jima po ucieczce z „Patny”, egoizmu oraz pojęć mu pokrewnych, takich jak egocentryzm, narcyzm i egotyzm, a także wyobrażeń, jakie ma o sobie Jim, wynikających z jego samopoznania. Następnie (II) analizuję wypowiedź Steina i wykazuję, że sedno jegoproblemu można sformułować jako uwięzienie w wyobraźni, rozumianej jako fantazja i podążanie za marzeniem. Dalej (III) zobrazowaną przez Conrada sytuację formowania sądu moralnego umieszczam w ramach kantowskiej teorii etycznej, w wyniku czego dochodzę do wniosku, że choć zasady moralne, takie jak kantowski imperatyw, spełniają istotną rolę w formułowaniu sądu moralnego, jednak mogą okazać się niewystarczające. Na koniec (IV) zastanawiam się, po co etykowi fi kcja literacka.
