The article is an attempt to extract the sense used by Heidegger to refer to the “phenomenological interpretation of the Critique of Pure Reason”. It is shown that Heidegger’s method of interpretation means primarily being guided by the “things themselves”, and thus it assumes going beyond the text. For this reason, it must take on the character of a “dispute”. Then, a general overview of Heidegger’s interpretation of the Critique is presented. The central part of the article discusses how this phenomenological method of interpretation “works” in concreto on the example of transcendental aesthetics, in particular with regard to the phenomena and things themselves and pure intuitions.

This ‘first draft’ has a cognitive value as it reflects Husserl’s spontaneous intuitions about understanding of phenomenology and a phenomenological method in the vein of transcendental philosophy, which he has created, developed, improved and on and on modified.

The article presents Edmund Husserl’s idea of transcendental phenomenology in the perspective of the project of science. This aspect of Husserl’s writings was pointed out by, for example, Rudolf Bernet, Manfred Brelage, Iso Kern, Eduard Marbach, Eugen Fink, Ludwig Landgrebe, and Roman Ingarden. The main aim, realised in the article is to prove the main hypothesis claiming that transcendental phenomenology is closely connected with Husserl’s conception of philosophy, the idea of philosophy as a science (eidetic and transcendental). The project of transcendental science and knowledge is also connected with Husserl’s conception of transcendental reduction taken as a mode of revealing those constitutive achievements of consciousness which were covered in the natural attitude. In the paper, I focus on presenting the most important points (epistemological, methodological, and transcendental) connected with Husserl’s evolution of phenomenology in the perspective of the project of science.

In the paper, maximal values xe(τ) of the solutions x(t) of the linear differential equations excited by the Dirac delta function are determined. There are obtained the analytical solutions of the equations and also the maximal positive values of these solutions. The obtained sufficient conditions of the positivity of these solutions are defined by the Theorems. There are also formulated the necessary conditions of the positivity of these solutions. The analytical formulae enable the design of the system with prescribed properties.

In their philosophical projects that address the concept of law, Immanuel Kant, Johann G. Fichte, and Georg W. F. Hegel all employ transcendental argumentation to demonstrate the sovereignty of community and the existence of power. They do this in the attempt to conceptually ground the idea of freedom and reconcile it with the notion of coercion within the framework of the idea of positive law. This article focuses solely on the Kantian project, since the approaches of Fichte and Hegel take on a more speculative turn in addition to their transcendental form.

In his theory of aesthetic experience, Richard Schaeffler proposes the synthesis of transcendental and historical reflection. The aesthetic experience is an a priori and historically conditioned dialogue with reality. Transcendental philosophy asserts that the a priori structures of reason enable the constitution of the object of experience. Historical philosophy, on the other hand, claims that these structures are historical and contingent. According to Schaeffler, these structures change under the influence of the content of aesthetic experiences, namely paradoxical content. Under the influence of these paradoxes, the structures of aesthetic consciousness are modified. The changes in the structures of consciousness cause the aesthetic experience (and any human experience) to asymptotically approach reality. W swojej teorii doświadczenia estetycznego Richard Schaeffler proponuje syntezę refleksji transcendentalnej i historycznej. Doświadczenie estetyczne jest a priori i historycznie uwarunkowanym dialogiem z rzeczywistością. Filozofia transcendentalna twierdzi, że a priori struktury rozumu umożliwiają ukonstytuowanie się przedmiotu doświadczenia. W przeciwieństwie do tego filozofia historyczna twierdzi, że struktury te są historyczne i przygodne. Według Schaefflera struktury te zmieniają się pod wpływem treści przeżyć estetycznych, czyli treści paradoksalnych. Pod wpływem tych paradoksów modyfikowane są struktury świadomości estetycznej. Zmiany w strukturach świadomości powodują, że doświadczenie estetyczne (i każde doświadczenie ludzkie) asymptotycznie zbliża się do rzeczywistości. Transzendentalität und Geschichtlichkeit der Ästhetischen Erfahrung. Die Konception von Richard Schaeffler Richard Schaeffler schlägt in seiner Theorie der ästhetischen Erfahrung die Synthese von transzendentaler und historischer Reflexion vor. Die ästhetische Erfahrung ist ein apriorisch und geschichtlich bedingter Dialog mit der Wirklichkeit. Die transzendentale Philosophie behauptet, dass die apriorischen Strukturen der Vernunft die Konstitution des Gegenstands von Erfahrung ermöglichen. Die historische Philosophie behauptet dagegen, dass diese Strukturen geschichtlich und kontingent sind. Nach Schaeffler verändern sich diese Strukturen unter den Einfluss der Inhalte von ästhetischen Erfahrungen, u.z. paradoxen Inhalte. Unter Einfluss dieser Paradoxe kommt es zur Modifizierung der Strukturen des ästhetischen Bewusstseins. Die Veränderungen der Strukturen des Bewusstseins bewirken, dass sich die ästhetische Erfahrung (und jede menschliche Erfahrung) asymptotisch der Wirklichkeit nähert.

The article analyzes the metaphysical approach to the rational cognition of the world of persons and things. It shows the way in which metaphysicians reveal the essential and universal properties of the world and the laws that govern their being. Among these properties, the most important are as follows: to be a thing (that is, to have a concretely determined essence), to be one (that is, to be non-contradictory in itself), to be separate or distinct (that is, to be sovereign in being), and also to be a vehicle of truth, good, and beauty. Among the laws of being, in turn, the article indicates the law of identity, the law of non-contradiction, the law of the excluded middle, the law of the reason of being, the law of finality, and the law of perfection. These laws primarily show the source and foundation of the rational order.

The following paper seeks to examine whether, from the standpoint of a transcendental idealist, it is possible to have a phenomenology that can adequately disclose the nature and activity of person. First I establish that symbols are intuitive concretizations of the activity of person/Geist, and thus symbols are available to phenom- enological description. Then I raise the question of whether reflective judgment can be understood as a part of a possible phenomenology. I come to the conclusion that yes, the process of reflective judgment is phenomenologically available; reflective judgment offers an experience of “what it is like to be a person” (meaning a transcendental process of symbol creation). However, it is clear that reflective judgment must borrow a rule from phenomenal/determinate experience in order to imaginatively analogize the transcendental creativity of person. Thus, all that is available to phenomenology is an analogy of being person, and not person itself.

Opis:
The problem of justice, one of the key problems of contemporary political philosophy, is reconsidered in the light of a new paradigm: Оtfried Höffe’s theory of transcendental exchange. The main research question is how this theory influences our understanding of the ways of formation of just moral and legal grounds in contemporary society. In order to understand justice adequately, it is important to regard it as personal responsibility, deeply related to attitudes of solidarity and recognition. There is an attempt to fuse moral and material grounds of social existence in order to overcome social injustice. Freedom and justice are rooted in the living world and are based on formal norms and procedures of morality and law. This gives us methodological grounds for understanding Höffe’s philosophy of political justice, which regards freedom and justice as the main conditions of human existence.

An analysis of the experiences, insights and proclamations by mystics and prophets from various epochs unveils the characteristics of individuals exposed to long experiences and holistic (or integral) cognition. A mystic transformation affects the mode of speaking and communicating with the world. Language with its stereotypical phrases and connotations certainly limits human cognition. However, in the process of their transpersonal experience, mystics go beyond this barrier and overcome cognitive limitations including the flaws of human language. In order to present an altogether “different” space of reality shared by mystics, and to share their proclamations and teaching with a large audience, mystics apply very specific linguistic tools like the metaphor, allegory, antithesis, paradox, analogy, symbol, quotations from the Bible, hyperbole, parallelism, chiasm and, last but not least, parable. An act of viewing the prophecy and epiphany-related language reflecting the authors’ synoptic (mystic) awareness “from the inside” makes it possible to identify archetypal criteria of the mystic experience and to establish the correct meaning of the key expressions (the sacred) and sacral acts of speech.

The understanding of scholasticism metaphysics presented in textbooks to the history of philosophy would be comprises universally in the patern dominated by followers of Thomas Aqiunas's conception. However one should be value different metaphysical conceptions of this period of scholasticism, in this the first of all so criticized by Thomas's pupils thought of John Duns Scotus. It is possible put, that Scotus's metaphysics states very important alternative for Aquinas's metaphysics, though - it should be strongly underline - at all it not locates itself in so sharp opposition in relation to solution of Aquinas. To be visible influence Scotus's thought in later centuries, for example his metaphysical intuition we can see at F. Suarez, Ch. Wolff, and also I. Kant. The novum of Scotus's approach to metaphysics in large reduction depends thereon that he asks about conditions of metaphysics possibility. This resulted with perspective of later development of metaphysics two momentous decision in its area. firstly, Scotus captured metaphysics with perspective of transcendental then it means he understood metaphysics as transcendental science. Secondly, basis of such metaphysics resulted in execution 'the criticism of reason'. From this perspective Scotus proposed understanding of the metaphysics as science on the first adequate object of human intellect. The object of it is being as being (ens inquantum ens) and in consequence the metaphysics according to Scotus is science on being and its transcendental proprieties. The metaphysics is so transcendental science - scientia transcendens.

This essay reflects on some applications of Eero Tarasti’s existential semiotics to music analysis, starting from the asymmetry that marks the categories of “myself’ and “itself’. If it seems evident that we can know the musical being-in-itself, that is topics, norms, forms, and so on, we can wonder if and how we can know the being-in-myself, that is the pure kinetic energy before that it has token any kind of forms. As it is for Schopenhauer’s “Wille”, that firstly becomes objective as Platonic ideas, and secondly as spatio-temporal-causal natural realm; musical energy or “being-in myself’ takes shape firstly as virtual deep-level-figures, and secondly as spatio-temporal-actorial situations, within which being-for-myself struggles with the being-for-itself. Modalities (will, must, can, know) operate in both these two levels of taking shape, but at the first level we have to look for a transcendental musical subject, not characterized by specific historical and cultural features. Then, I introduce the notion of homeostasis, that is the principle that “regulates the global process of breaking away from an original state of rest or balance, and of the subsequent restoration of that balance”. Homeostasis allows us to analyze musical modalization at a deep level, where the transcendental subject takes the form of the being-in-itself. But the research of a transcendental subject is slightly different to that of the Moi, within which the being-in-myself is situated. To analyze the being-in-myself of an individual musical subject, we adopt a less universal homeostasis, that is a specific way to convey musical energy (melodic, harmonic, rhythmic, agogic, and so on) proper of Western music. So doing, I claim that one cannot recognize the first four measures of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata op. 7 as “the moment of Being-in-myself in all of its immediacy” as Tarasti does. Being-in-myself has to be examined in a different light.

For Peter F. Strawson, transcendental arguments were an important part of his philosophical method, referred to as a connective analysis. Both Strawson and his critical commentators have devoted a lot of effort to determining the nature, scope and purpose of those arguments. In this text, I intend, first of all, to reconstruct and characterize the basic elements of transcendental argumentation, specifying its general form, features and purpose. Secondly, I reconstruct some of the most representative examples of this argumentation. Thirdly, I refer to the basic objections against transcendental arguments formulated in the literature. Finally, I point to a few peculiarities in those arguments, commonly omitted by commentators and interpreters. The overall message of the paper is moderately positive: transcendental arguments are a legitimate way of reasoning in philosophy, and in particular, they constitute a comprehensible and well-founded part of Strawson’s connective analysis.

If, as Maurice Merleau-Ponty writes, “True philosophy consists in relearning to look at the world,” and if Merleau-Ponty is accordingly often described as a philosopher of the body or a philosopher of painting, how are we to understand the apparently new turn to music that Merleau-Ponty makes toward the end of the final completed chapter, entitled “The Intertwining—The Chiasm,” of The Visible and the Invisible? I argue that the course of the “Chiasm” chapter moves from a concern for the reciprocal intertwining of body and world to a concern for the Ineinander of temporality. Thus, there are two dimensions involved in forming Merleau-Ponty’s chiastic structure of the flesh: the fecundity of the sensible world in the dimension of simultaneity and the transcendence of the subject in the dimension of succession. The aim of this article is to explore the part of this structure that pertains to the temporal movement of transcendental intersubjectivity. Focusing on Merleau-Ponty’s adaptation of Husserl’s term, Ineinander, I trace the musical context of the term from Merleau-Ponty’s course notes, “Philosophie aujourd’hui” to the final passages from the “Chiasm” chapter of The Visible and the Invisible, understanding the Ineinander as it pertains to the relation of past and present. Contrary to the overflowing sense of presence experienced by the body in the world, the Ineinander is characterized by succession—by the écart—and finds its natural expression in the movement of music. Thus, the chiastic structure at the heart of Merleau-Ponty’s philosophy of the flesh expresses not only the immersion of a body in the world that sees; it expresses also, as that which is no longer and that which is to come, a creative, melodic movement of time.

This article is an analysis of two conceptions of both awareness of other persons and relations with them put forward by Michel Henry and Marc Richir – philosophers who are associated with “new phenomenology in France”. My aim is to show how they reinterpret Husserl’s view of intersubjectvity and attempt to solve the issues related to traditional phenomenological solution. Thanks to rejecting Husserl’s notion of intentionality, they provide a new ground for analysis. The originality of their account lies in an introduction of the very notion of passivity (Henry) and transcedental interfacticity (Richir). In spite of some differences between them, they can be considered as ideas that shed a new light on the problem of intersubjectivity in phenomenology.

In this paper, we investigate the growth of meromorphic solutions of the linear differential equation [formula] where k ≥ 2 is an integer, Pj(z) (j = 0,1,... , k — 1) are nonconstant polynomials and hj(z) are meromorphic functions. Under some conditions, we determine the hyper-order of these solutions. We also consider nonhomogeneous linear differential equations.

This article is the first in a series of three installments representing a doctoral project carried out at the University of the Free State in South Africa. The aim of this article is to establish an apodictic ontic and epistemic foundation for the construction of an integral framework for sociological practice. To this end, manifest reality is meditated upon in a realist phenomenological manner, thus yielding an etiological framework aimed at reflecting reality in itself, and not as the object of a specific scientific paradigm. Situated against the backdrop of the ontological turn in the social sciences, the argument is developed that contemporary science represents an ill-founded attempt at empirically describing a reality that is fundamentally trans-empirical. It is posited that any scientific enterprise which is founded exclusively on an empirical analysis of “objective” reality can ultimately yield only partial truths. To remedy this situation, the role of intersubjectively constructed meaning-frameworks and subjectively constituted qualia of manifestation during the generation of reality are acknowledged, facilitating an account thereof that enlivens the positivistic “world-as-described” by integrating it with the hermeneutically navigable “world-as-agreed-upon” and the individually encountered/embodied “world-as-witnessed.” The resulting etiological framework facilitates a grasp of the higher order unity of these “worlds” by facilitating the emergence of an aperspectival mode of being that transcends the empirico-perspectival mental consciousness structure characteristic of modern and postmodern epistemologies. In so doing, a universally valid layer of knowledge is laid bare which can serve as a contextualizing point of reference for the continued perspectival exploration of particular conditioned aspects of reality.

I defend an interpretation of the Tractatus based on the following three theses: 1) The Wittgenstein’s work offers a double-layered vision of language, similar to the vision developed during his brief phenomenological period. 2) The so-called Tractarian ontology is actually a purely formal construction, entailed by the structure of what we shall refer to as the inner layer of language. 3) It should be recognized that the metaphysical residuum within the early Wittgenstein’s thought is a certain minimal form of transcendentalism, according to which language – or strictly speaking its ore – performs the function of the transcendental subject for itself. A crucial element of my position is the conclusion that, according to the Tractarian conception of language, the meaning of propositions is not only independent of empirical subjects, but also the condition of their possibility. This amounts to a resolute adaptation of Frege’s principled anti-psychologism on Wittgenstein’s part.

The paper is aimed at systematizing the thoughts of Mieczysław A. Krąpiec on the subject of relations. The author reconstructs Krąpiec’s justification for the reality of relations, the distinction of necessary relations, and the importance of relations in metaphysical cognition. The analyses are conducted on the basis of the following problems: a) the existence of beings, and especially the subontic relationship between essence and existence that runs through all reality; b) the way in which beings exist and are cognized, where transcendental relations indicate the analogous character of these beings; c) the cognition of the Absolute, which is only possible through the discovery of transcendental relations in contingent beings.

The main thesis of the presented article implies that one of the possible and, simultaneously, immensely important responses to the question: “Why philosophy?,” is to indicate the necessity of a philosophical diagnosis regarding the current condition of communicative rationality. This diagnosis—obtained on the basis of the analyses and decisions of transcendental-pragmatic communication philosophy—ultimately obliges philosophy to construct the theoretical framework for the project of new paideia. The primary features of this project stem from the recognition of the megamedia character of today’s communication space and fundamental threats that are conditioned by the specificity of this space. The postulated paideia project must be based on the ethical principle of co-responsibility and its goal: shaping towards discursive rationality.
