The aim of this paper is to investigate the implications of the fourth industrial revolution for technological competitiveness, its definition and measurement methods. An empirical part is aimed at identifying comparative advantages of the European Union in digital technologies. Recently new approaches have appeared to measure digital competitiveness, however they use a broad definition of competitiveness that encompasses not only technological factors but also the macroeconomic and institutional environment (IMD, 2017; WEF, 2018). There is still a limited number of studies focused on the technological dimension of competitiveness in digital technologies. This paper fills the gap by developing a conceptual framework based on patent indicators, i.e. Patent Share and Revealed Technological Advantage indices. It allows a consistent analysis of the comparative advantages of the EU member states in digital technologies to be conducted. The results confirm a huge diversity within the EU in terms of digital technologies, their global impact and comparative advantages.

This paper discusses the issue of the patterns of technological accumulation in selected European Union countries. Using the WIPO Technology Concordance Table and the index of relative comparative advantage (Balassa’s Revealed Comparative Advantage), it seeks to answer the question about the directions and dynamics of technological change in selected EU countries. The main objectives of the research are the identification of relative technological advantages in individual countries and an assessment of the diversification of comparative technological advantages. The principal findings of the analysis are (1) technological advantages (and competences) are relatively stable over time, and (2) technology leaders rarely change.

The technological entrepreneurship is a multi-layered notion, including various aspects of functioning of enterprises. Amongst determinants of the technological entrepreneurship, peculiarly a technological potential, often incorrectly identified with technological portfolios, will matter greatly. The technological entrepreneurship is a necessary condition of the market success, particularly in case of small and medium enterprises for which acquiring the technology is a condition of surviving and the development.  
Przedsiębiorczość technologiczna jest pojęciem wielowątkowym, obejmującym różne aspekty funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstw. Wśród determinant przedsiębiorczości technologicznej, szczególnie istotną rolę odgrywa potencjał technologiczny, nieraz błędnie utożsamiany jedynie z jego portfelem technologicznym. Zdaniem autora, przedsiębiorczość technologiczna jest warunkiem koniecznym sukcesu rynkowego, szczególnie w przypadku małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw, dla których pozyskiwanie technologii jest warunkiem przetrwania i rozwoju.

Models of accumulation show that capital goods have equal productivity and using them goods having similar quality can be produced. However, productivity increases together with technological change and the quality of goods gets higher. Capital accumulation influences technological change and technological change creates terms of new accumulation. Capital and the degree of its utilization have direct influence on technological capabilities of economy creating terms of faster economic development. The role of capital in different periods and economic approach evaluated but it was always a key factor of economic growth. Changes in the structure and character of capital directly decide about the efficiency of technological change reflected in the rate of profits and the level of savings, which influences the level of capital accumulation. High-level accumulation economies can pursue growth based on innovation, others have to find sources of capital gain. It is difficult because in a lot of countries a huge part of capital is wasted by inflation and public debt limiting sectors producing tangible goods. The use of innovation processes needs more widely capital resources. It may be accomplished through the reduction of constraints and the costs of raising and holding capital.

Results. According to the modern requirements of quality content and the process of technology training, its effective component is not determined by the level of mastering a certain amount of alienated knowledge, technocratic skills, but the mastery level of pupils of cultural needed key, brunch and the subject of design and technological competence. High-quality technological education involves not only creating conditions for the formation of the competencies based on the updated content, methods and forms of education, but also the development of diagnostic assessment criterion level of this competence of pupils.

The aim of research was determination of the content of selected constituents (dry matter, ash, α-aminonitrogen, reducing sugars, Mg, Ca, K), of sugar beet roots grown under conservation tillage using mulch from straw, winter rye and winter vetch, as well as two levels of nitrogen fertilization. This experiment was conducted between 2007–2010 at the Experimental Station of University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wroclaw. From among conservation tillage systems of sugar beet, the highest amount of ash was found in roots grown under rye mulch and the lowest one was found in roots collected from plots under fore-crop straw mixed with harrow. Sugar beet roots under mustard mulch had the best technological quality (the lowest amount of α-amino-nitrogen) while the worst quality was observed under winter vetch mulch.
Celem niniejszej pracy było określenie zawartości wybranych substancji (sucha substancja, popiół, azot α-aminowy, cukry redukujące) w korzeniach buraka cukrowego uprawianego metodą konserwującą z wykorzystaniem mulczu ze słomy, żyta i wyki ozimej oraz z zastosowaniem dwóch poziomów nawożenia azotowego. Ścisłe doświadczenie polowe realizowano w latach 2007–2010 w Rolniczym Zakładzie Doświadczalnym Uniwersytetu Przyrodniczego we Wrocławiu. Spośród porównywanych systemów uprawy konserwującej buraka cukrowego najwięcej popiołu stwierdzono w korzeniach uprawianych na mulczu z żyta, najmniej w korzeniach uprawianych na słomie przedplonowej wymieszanej broną. Najlepszą jakością technologiczną (najmniejsza zawartość azotu α-aminowego) charakteryzowały się buraki uprawiane na mulczu z gorczycy, a najgorszą – uprawiane na mulczu z wyki ozimej.

Development and popularization of new communication technologies generate new dimensions of opportunities and threats associated with learning and using technologies as well as with their sociocultural consequences. The article presents four dimensions of social perception of these threats and opportunities: creativity, representative potential, psychological attitude, privacy and control. They were distinguished on the basis of two research projects using qualitative research techniques. Particular attention was dedicated to generational usage of technology. In this way, the paper may be the basis for distinguishing the dimensions of technological competencies.

Technological ensuring the reliability of machine parts is realized by failing to reach the limited state of the elements of the technological system: machine – clamping device – metal-cutting tool-part. A method of optimization synthesis of parameters of technological processes of manufacturing machine parts has been developed. Testing the developed methodology, it was found that the metal cutting tool is Meanwhile, research has shown that metal cutting machine has the least influence on the formation of detailed quality-adjustable parameters from all the the weakest element of the technological system in terms of reliability and has the greatest impact on the quality of machined parts. elements of the process media "machine – clamping device – cutting tool". Finally, a concrete example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The proposed technique has been successfully tested for the manufacturing process of the reduction-gear housing.

The basic idea of the paper is to apply a multi-attribute notion of diversity proposed by Nehring and Puppe to technological changes appearing as a consequence of innovations in Schumpeter’s sense of the term in the production sphere of the economy modelled by the use of the Arrow and Debreu topological apparatus. The paper is inspired by the work of Malawski and Woerter who used Stirling diversity concept to prove that innovative processes are the source of growing diversity in the Schumpeterian vision of economic development. We show that, under certain conditions, nondecreasing multi-attribute diversity in the production sphere of the private ownership economy is a necessary and sufficient condition for the occurrence of innovation in the economy under study

Research background: Various methods for technological progress assessment and evaluation exist in the context of economic development. Each of the methods possesses distinct advantages and disadvantages in analysis of technological progress fluctuations. For most neoclassical growth theories, technological progress measures are included as exogenous variables, thus excluding evaluation of factors influencing technological progress variation throughout time. Purpose of the article: The aim of this article is to offer improvements on classical technological progress evaluation methodologies for manufacturing industries, separating effect of intersectoral technological progress spillover effect from internal factors influencing technological progress growth and perform analysis in the case of Lithuanian manufacturing industry. Methods: Earlier research papers used linear time series regression and vector autoregression methods to assess technological progress values and define equations explaining effect of different manufacturing level indicators on technological progress measure growth. This research paper uses results of previously mentioned methods and performs simulation analysis applying agent-based modelling framework. Findings & value added: The conducted vector autoregression analysis has showed that two variables which influence technological progress most significantly are labor productivity measure and gross profit value. Sensitivity analysis emphasizes that effect of these two variables on technological progress growth is substantially different. Increase in gross profit value affects technological progress growth for wider range of sectors from Lithuanian manufacturing industry (15 out of 18 analyzed sectors? technological progress measure values are affected by changes in gross profit, while changes in labor productivity influence technological progress values in the case of 9 sectors). Rising gross profit values also produce intersectoral technological progress spillover effect more significantly, while growth in labor productivity measure has stronger effect on technological progress fluctuations for sectors which are able to exploit this effect. Presented research suggests improved methodology for intersectoral technological progress spillover effect assessment in the context of manufacturing industries.

Currently, technological parks constitute the most organisational and conceptually developed type of innovation centres and entrepreneurship. This results in the fact that they can be encountered in all highly developed countries in the world. They are also formed in the catching-up countries. However, one should consider whether the stimulation of innovation in the countries, which are not based on knowledge through institutional solutions used in the developed countries will turn out to be effective. Because between these countries there is a technological gap. The aim of the article was therefore to determine, using the probit modelling, the direction and strength of technological parks on the innovation activity. The study covered two provinces: Silesian, which is one of the most developed regions in Poland and Pomeranian with the intermediate industrial system. The influence of technological parks on innovation was determined based on the survey conducted in 1453 industrial enterprises. The main conclusions are brought down to the following theses: (1) using the technological parks increases the chance for the implementation of new solutions by enterprises, (2) parks to a greater extent stimulate the innovation activity in the developed province, (3) enterprises entering in the cross-regional network relations favours the selection of the technological park as the catalyst for innovation processes.

Despite the application of a series of universally acknowledged procedural principles, the manufacture of elements is a process in which the skills and professional experience of the planner are of continued importance. This leads to a certain degree of subjectivity in evaluation as well as to arbitrariness and variety in the solutions presented by process engineers. By introducing evaluations of the energy consumption of processes as an additional criterion, it is possible to make planning more objective, to reduce arbitrariness in the selection of production technologies, and to reduce energy consumption and manufacturing costs. An example of the application of energy consumption indices in the design of a selected manufacturing process is given in this article.

An applied research project is presented, expressed in the design and creation of a database for the company Minera Tierra Adentro (MTA), which belongs to the mining-metallurgical sector of Mexico. This database is designed to implement a Sustainable Management Model (SMM) in the operating units of the sector. The SMM provides an opportunity to observe, measure, and evaluate four Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 16 legislative parameters. Divided into two modules, the database is based, in the first instance covering the territorial sector in Mexico, on an algorithm that represents a qualitative selection technique: pairwise comparison, which allows prioritizing more than 3000 active units, so that MTA offers the implementation of the model. As a second module, the database shows the record of quantifiable elements of the SDGs and legislative parameters collected, This allows, through calculation algorithms, to interpret and express the obtained information in different formats, since by means of an export of data to Excel, the unit staff can use, interpret, include the information in registers, assessments or official documents, such as the Environmental Impact Statement (EIM) requested by government agencies. Therefore, this document presents the interfaces created for the two modules that complement the database in which MTA will manage the implementation of the SMM.

Research background: Given the pivotal role of innovations and technological progress in shaping the economic development of regions and the crucial significance of spatial dimension of innovation processes at the regional level, the assessment of technological convergence in the regional scope becomes an essential research problem. Technological convergence could be identified on the basis of the analysis of total factor productivity (TFP). The significance of the technological convergence analysis results from the fact that income convergence can be both accelerated or impeded, depending on whether the initial differences in the level of technology (TFP) decrease or increase over time. Purpose of the article: The aim of the paper is twofold. Firstly, we attempt to develop a theoretical framework for the analysis of the technological convergence. Secondly, we investigate the technological convergence (on the basis of the TFP analysis) across European regions. Methods: During the first stage of the research, we employ the multiplicatively-complete Färe-Primont index to calculate TFP. The second stage of the study includes estimation of spatial panel models applied to assess the level of technological convergence across European regions. The research sample consists of 273 NUTS 2 European Union (EU) regions over the period 2010? 2016. Findings & Value added: The results of the study confirm a clear division of Europe into the Western European regions with high TFP values and the Eastern European regions with low TFP level. The research also shows that in the Eastern European regions the process of reducing the differences in the productivity levels is faster than in Western European regions. Since the issue of technological convergence is still not sufficiently explored in the relevant literature our paper attempts to fill a cognitive and methodological gap in the investigation of the technological convergence in the European regional space.

The genotypes differed in their yielding, morphological features of fruit, technological efficiency and the content of capsaicinoids, which ranged from 20 to 770 and from 10 to 330 mg.kg-1, respectively, of capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin in the pericarp, from 60 to 3870 and from 30 to 1550 mg.kg-1 in the puree produced as a result of mechanical separation of the soft tissue of the pericarp from the inedible parts (placenta, seeds, septa and the peel). There was found a negative correlation between the fruit average weight and length and the content of capsaicin in the pericarp and in the puree and for the capsaicinoids sum in the puree. The contents of the two compounds were positively correlated in each material researched, both when individual capsaicinoids were compared and when their sum was given.
Materiałem badawczym użytym do oceny wzajemnych zależności między cechami technologicznymi owoców soft-flesh były linie wyprowadzone z mieszańca międzygatunkowego Capsicum frutescens L. x C. annuum L. Genotypy różniły się pod względem masy owoców uzyskanych z rośliny, cech morfologicznych owoców, wydajności technologicznej oraz zawartości kapsaicynoidów, która zawierała się w granicach od 20–770 i 10–330 mg.kg-1 , odpowiednio kapsaicyny i dihydrokapsaicyny w perykarpie, do 60–3870 i 30 –1550 mg.kg-1 w przecierze uzyskanym w wyniku mechanicznej separacji miękkiej tkanki perykarpu od części niejadalnych (łożysko, nasiona, przegrody i skórka). Stwierdzono ujemną korelację między średnią masą i długością owoców a zawartością kapsaicynoidów w perykarpie i w przecierze. Zawartości obydwu omawianych związków były dodatnio skorelowane w każdym z badanych materiałów, zarówno przy porównaniu indywidualnym każdego z kapsaicynoidów, jak też dla ich sumy.

The work is devoted to systematic substantiation of productivity, production structure and specialization of service station (SS) of KhTZ-3522 tractors. Based on the technical and economic comparative analysis of the results of modeling of the technological processes (TPs) of the second and third line maintenance, third line maintenance before current repair (BCR) and line maintenance before major repair (BMR) of KhTZ-3522 tractors, the parametrical series of production structures of service stations (SSs) both mono- and poly technological specialization, which can work effectively in a wide range of the general annual program of orders, and in the conditions of seasonal fluctuations of orders for the maintenance of these tractors, are founded. The results of calculations of the system of indicators of organizational and technological compatibility (OTC) of TPs of the second and third line maintenance, third line maintenance BCR and third line maintenance BMR of KhTZ-3522 tractors in the joint technological flow are presented. The dependencies of these indicators on the total annual program of orders for service stations of different productivity are analyzed. According to the results of the analysis, the poly technological specialization of such service stations is substantiated.

The titular gas-works are an example of technological monuments which have irreversibly become part of the past. The article discusses works which produced illuminating gas out of hard coal in the process of its degassing in a temperature of 900- 1300° C. The obtained gas, known also as town gas, was used for decades for lighting streets. In time, it was applied also in buildings and for household purposes - for heating water, ironing, heating interiors, etc, as well as in industry. The greatest development of this domain of gas engineering in Poland coincided with the second half of the nineteenth century and the first decade of the twentieth century. The oldest gas-works, established in 1847, are located in Wroclaw. The first gas-works in Greater Poland were opened in Poznan in 1856. The beginning of the 1970s marked the onset of a thirty-years long liquidation of unprofitable coal gas-works which polluted the natural environment. The development of a network of natural gas transmission lines was accompanied by the closure of successive works. The largest old gas-works complex is located in Poznan. The architecture of the objects, maintained In the so-called Rundbogenstill style, continues to be admired up to this day. Part of the objects, such as the gas holders and the Koppers furnaces, is no longer extant, while other buildings have been adapted for offices and storehouses; still others, such as the boiler-room, the water gas building (now a ruin) or the filter hall await adaptation. A culture centre is foreseen in the old gas-works complex. Some of the old gas-works in Greater Poland are no longer used (Pniewy, Krobia, Miejska Gorka or Rakoniewice). The difficulty with their adaptation lies in the fact that the walls of the production objects are strongly contaminated with toxic substances. Part of the objects is used as construction material warehouses (Pobiedziska, Lobzenica, Srem, Jarocin). In Jutrosin, Wolsztyn, and Nowy Tomysl redesigned gas-works serve as natural gas switching stations. The gas-works in Kornik (today: a switching station) are an example of a well revitalised object with emphasis placed on the beauty and harmony of industrial architecture. Several gas-works have been totally forgotten and pulled down, such as those in Swarzedz, Rawicz, and Chodziez. The state of the preservation of the objects is illustrated by a table. Coal gas-works are an important element of industrial heritage and testimony to the existence of a technology which for economic reasons has been relegated to the past.

W artykule rozważany jest problem ewentualnej utraty wiedzy ekonomicznie użytecznej w ramach modelu wzrostu. Zaproponowany model wzrostu opiera się na alokacji kapitału ludzkiego przez pokolenie młodsze między różne zadania produkcyjne, by uzyskać możliwie wysoki dochód w przyszłości dzięki specjalizacji. Alternatywą dla uczenia się istniejących technik produkcji jest innowacja. W ramach modelu sformułowany zostaje wniosek, że warunkiem innowacyjności gospodarki jest wzrost rozmiaru gospodarki mierzonego liczbą tworzących ją podmiotów. Stagnacja demograficzna prowadzi zarazem do stagnacji technologicznej i w konsekwencji gospodarczej, postępująca zaś depopulacja do trwałego regresu technologicznego. Rozważania zostają uzupełnione o wpływ dyfuzji technologii, dzięki której rozmiar rynków zagranicznych może substytuować rozmiar gospodarki krajowej dla potrzeb innowacji i utrzymania poziomu wiedzy.
The article presents the problem of possible loss of economically useful knowledge. A growth model is proposed that centers on accumulation of human capital and its allocation among production tasks by youngert generation in order to acquire possibly high income once they become the older generatiuon. Alternative exists between learning an existing set of skills and innovating. The conclusion of the model is that in order to achieve continuous innovation, the size of the economy must grow. Demographic stagnation leads to technological stagnation, and continuous depopulation leads to technological regress. Analysis is extended to include diffusion of technology, which can lead to overseas populatuion being a substitute for home population in regard to innovation and preservation of knowledge.

The paper discusses an approach to the question of the possibility of a mathematical description of discrete processes. On the basis of these processes a large class of manufacturing equipment – production lines and systems for the processing of fish was generated. The use of mathematical models in the early stages of the design will improve the efficiency and quality of the produced equipment and reduce the risks and costs during the design work. We propose to describe the processes of fish processing by topological models that are presented in the form of functional graphs. Overall, the proposed approach will develop new design methods of fish processing equipment.
W pracy omówiono podejście do kwestii możliwości matematycznego opisu dyskretnych procesów. Na podstawie tych procesów tworzona jest szeroka gama urządzeń przemysłowych - linie produkcyjne i systemy do przetwarzania ryb. Wykorzystanie modeli matematycznych we wczesnych etapach tworzenia może poprawić wydajność i jakość wytwarzanych maszyn i zmniejszenia ryzyka oraz koszty podczas prac projektowych. Zaproponowano opis procesów przetwórstwa ryb z wykorzystaniem modeli topologicznych, które są prezentowane w postaci wykresów funkcjonalnych. Ogólnie rzecz biorąc, proponowane podejście umożliwi opracowanie nowych metod projektowania urządzeń przetwórstwa rybnego.

As a part the project it was necessary to design and implement accurate reducers and actuators in various kinematic solutions of modules. These modules will be possible to stack them into desired shapes, allowing them to be deployed in production machines and robotic equipment according to the specific customer requirements, e.g. technological heads. The article deals with designing and especially FEM analysis modules – technological heads for 2 and 3 axis handling and robotic systems. Designed modules – technological heads will allow correcting inaccura-cies motion manipulator or less precise robot. Solving of these modules is based on the use of smart actuators consisting of engine, precise gearbox and appropriate sensing technique. Control of the motion will be imple-mented on the basis of information obtained from sensors placed directly in drives the positioning module and the sensors working environment according to specific requirements for each application.

Opis:
Thermally spraying with micro-jet cooling is an innovate technology. It is possible to get fine dispersive structure of coatings during the shorter time in comparable to the classical high velocity oxygen fuel process (HVOF). It corresponds with good corrosion-erosion properties of structure. In the paper the parameters of the spraying with micro-jet cooling process are presented. The selected properties of coatings obtained by hybrid method are presented. The results of wear tests for hybrid and HVOF coating are compared. Results of investigation are very optimistic. The presented technology should be adapted to the actual production of protective coating for machines and construction working in wear conditions.

Development of civilization, in addition to its undoubted advantages, also brought many risks which include new types of addictions. There are dozens of addictions associated with modern civilization, the development of techniques and various inventions and customs change. The group particularly at risk of addiction, which involves development of civilization are children and young people. Therefore, they should be subject to particularly intense interactions in prevention. Early action can protect against the dangers, but also indicate how to cope in difficult situations, how to avoid hazards or whom, if necessary, ask for help. In this respect, the most appropriate would appear common actions taken by the child's family home and school, which are the basic educational environment. In this article, the author attempts to present the most common “new” addictions threatening children and adolescents.

Crossing a wild species of Triticeae tribe, e.g. Agrotriticum sp., with cultivated form of them, can enrich them in new, valuable genes as well as their recombinations, which determines their favorable traits from a breeding and agricultural point of view. The aim of present paper was to analyze some traits affecting the grain technological value at hybrid strains of triticale with Agrotriticum and to evaluate the influence of particular parental forms on value of tested traits at hybrids. There are no data on the subject in literature. Five hexaploid breeding triticale strains produced by crossing triticale with Agrotriticum (Gruszecka, 1992) and parental components: two triticale and two Agrotriticum forms were studied. Plants were harvested in 2000 and 2001. Kernels of obtained triticale hybrid forms were characterized by high amylolytic activity expressed by low falling number. Two strains were distinguished with higher falling number and higher flour strength, but they did not come up to Agrotriticum referring to the trait value. Gluten content was lower at studied strains than at corresponding parental components and its low quality was worse than that for Agrotriticum forms. Yield of total flour was low and not exceeding 60%. Obtained laboratory breads had pleasant and aromatic flavor. Crumb of bread produced from Agrotriticum was more elastic and had less moisture than that baked from triticale. Excellent strain No 2 – CZR 028/19/95 - {[(Lanca × L 506/79) × CZR 142/79] × (Triticum aestivum × Agropyron 1)} was characterized by porosity structure similar to that of Agrotriticum parental form. Bread achieved from the strain’s flour was distinguished with low baking loss, and high efficiency and volume. However, slight effect of parental Agrotriticum forms on qualitative trait values of tested strains triticale with Agrotriticum cross-combinations was proved.

The purpuse of the investigation was to establish technological, nutritional and storage properties of three new pumpkin varieties developed genetically at the Faculty of Horticulture, Warsaw Agricultural University, as compared to those traditionally grown in Poland, Melon Yellow (Melonowa Żółta) variety.
Przeprowadzono charakterystykę towaroznawczą oraz oceniono wartość odżywczą i właściwości przechowalnicze trzech nowych odmian dyni rodzaju Cucurbita Maxima, wyhodowanych w Katedrze Genetyki Wydziału Ogrodnictwa SGGW-AR w porównaniu z tradycyjnie uprawianą w Polsce dynią Melonową Żółtą. Stwierdzono dwukrotnie lepsze właściwości przechowalnicze wszystkich · nowych odmian (rys. 1 i 2). Spośród nowych odmian jedynie Mieszaniec Heterozyjny przypominał wielkością, barwą i strukturą miąższu dynię Melonową Żółtą (tab. 1). Dynia Warzywna i Pastewna były mniejsze, intensywniej zabarwione i zawierały znacznie więcej składników odżywczych (tab. 1 i 2). Najlepszą wartością odżywczą charakteryzowała się dynia Warzywna (tab. 2), podczas gdy najlepsze właściwości przechowalnicze wykazywała dynia Pastewna i Mieszaniec Heterozyjny (rys. 1-5).

Innovativeness is the subject of numerous studies in which researchers look for its conditions, causes and effects. The innovation process begins even before the commencement of scientific research in the enterprise, at the stage of creating an idea, and ends with the implementation of innovation and its dissemination. It is better to construct a wide range of indicators relating to the conditions or the determinants of functioning of innovative companies, including issues, such as, entrepreneurship, technological development and diversity. Particularly interesting can be a specification of these aspects in relation to  Eastern Poland - a region with unfavorable conditions for business development because of insufficiently developed economic base, as well as underdevelopment of transport, economic and human resources infrastructure and local market.
Innowacyjność to przedmiot licznych badań, w których badacze doszukują się jej warunków, przyczyn i skutków. Proces innowacji zaczyna się jeszcze przed rozpoczęciem badań naukowych w przedsiębiorstwie, na etapie tworzenia pomysłu i kończy się na wdrożeniu innowacji i jego upowszechnieniu. Warto skonstruować szeroki wachlarz wskaźników odnoszących się do warunków, czy determinant funkcjonowania innowacyjnych przedsiębiorstw, w tym do takich zagadnień jak przedsiębiorczość, rozwój technologiczny czy różnorodność. Szczególnie interesujące może być uszczegółowienie wymienionych aspektów w odniesieniu do Polski Wschodniej – regionu o niesprzyjających warunkach dla rozwoju przedsiębiorczości, z powodu niedostatecznie rozwiniętej bazy ekonomicznej, a także niedostatków w rozwoju infrastruktury komunikacyjnej, ekonomicznej, zasobów ludzkich oraz lokalnego rynku.

The aim of the article is to assess the impact of the development of technological capacity on the labour market in Poland, in voivodships with significantly different GDP levels: the Dolnośląskie and nearly four times smaller the Lubuskie. Data for the years 2002-2017 were obtained from the CSO Local Data Bank. The research used linear regression analysis and the OLS estimation method. The results have shown that the expenditure on R&D are not a positive factor of employment growth in both voivodships, which may be due to their low values in relation to GDP (on average around 0.5%). The number of students and universities had a positive impact on the labour market in both regions. The catch-up effect and accelerated development recorded in the second part of the examined period in the Lubuskie could have had an impact on better absorption of university graduates and registered patents by businesses and their positive impact on employment levels, in contrast to the Dolnośląskie. Improvement in the economic situation in both voivodships and in the whole country also had a positive impact on the improvement of conditions on the labour market.

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie wybranych narzędzi marketingowych wykorzystanych przez Wrocławski Park Technologiczny SA oraz wskazanie kierunków rozwoju tego podmiotu w obszarze marketingu i budowy jego marki.
Technological parks are the integral part of the landscape of the Polish economy. They provide support to new/small businesses, help them develop and access modern technology, equip and share their labs, contribute to increased employment, increase the competitiveness of companies in the market, and create opportunities for internationalization of the companies located in them. Their impact on the innovativeness and competitiveness of regions and countries is widely discussed in the literature. Therefore an important, and sometimes overlooked, element of the functioning of the technology park is its recognizability in the market. The aim of the article is to present selected marketing tools used by Wrocław Technological Park and indication of the direction of development of this entity in the area of marketing and construction of its brand.

The aim of this paper is to analyse the influence of Stanisław Lem’s works, an outstanding representative of Polish science fiction, philosopher and futurologist, on the shape of reality in which we currently function. Undoubtedly, Lem’s writings are a collection of predictions that describe, with unprecedented accuracy, the technologies of virtual reality, nanotechnology, biotechnology or robotics long before they were created. Are we living in a world that was described by one man many years ago? The research method used in this study is the content analysis of the selected novels by Stanisław Lem and the analysis of available secondary data. Let us therefore examine, on the one hand, the predictions of the Polish writer related to the development of the latest technologies, the advent of which he forecasted many years before they were created, and, on the other hand, let us consider what social consequences resulting from such a rapid progress in the field of technology the Polish futurologist warns us about.

The time in which we live is called the time of the information revolution and is characterized by a high degree of industrialization, technical progress and automation, which results in a reduction in physical activity, i.e. volume of daily movement activities. Thus, man relies more and more on his intellectual abilities, and less and less on movement. It is for this reason that a person should dedicate himself to daily moderate physical exercise in order to compensate for his daily need for movement. Proper attitude towards physical exercise, as well as the formed habit of exercising in early childhood, are some of the crucial factors that determine whether physical activity in the later stages of life will be an integrated part of life. Only in this way can today’s man avoid the consequences of hypokinetic syndrome.

Two-mass model of bitool chambering was introduced. Build on its basis mathematical model of deep holes chambering was used to conduct numerical analysis of the system. By optimizing parameters of machine-fixture-part-tool system one can reduce the time of transitory processes, increase dynamic rigidity and decrease tremblings level during deep hole chambering, what allows to increase their accuracy and machining efficiency.

The travel and tourism industry is one of the largest and fastest-growing sectors in the world. In the case of countries like Georgia, where tourism is a priority sector of the economy, innovation is crucial for a tourism-based development strategy — and this has become particularly important in the post-pandemic realities. This paper proposes a certain framework for understanding the possibilities for harnessing technological innovations in the travel industry (particularly apps and websites). It then considers the specific example of the country of Georgia, outlining the state's measures meant to foster IT innovation in tourism and also certain moderate successes to date in this respect. Next, the paper looks to Russian tourist-sector start-ups as models for operation that be successfully harnessed in the Georgian tourism industry, examining several such Russian start-ups in closer detail.

The paper discusses technological reliability of a collective wastewater treatment plant (WTP). The WTP capacity expressed as population equivalents (PE) was 22,500. The research was conducted in 2013 and 2014 and it involved the collection and physical and chemical analysis of 101 samples of raw and treated sewage. Reliability analysis was based on Weibull reliability theory. Reliability of retaining organic compounds defined as BOD5 was 68%, and for biogenic compounds, such as total nitrogen and total phosphorus, it was 92% and 88%, respectively.

In this work the results of trials aimed at selecting optimal settings of the explosion welding process of 10 mm thick zirconium (Zr 700 grade) plates with carbon steel (P265GH grade) are presented. A bimetal Zr-steel and trimetal Zr-Ti-steel and Zr-Zr-steel where: 2 mm Ti and 3 mm Zr were used as a technological intermediate layer facilitating the bonding. The research was carried out for as-bonded joints, i.e. immediately following explosion welding. Structural analyses in leyers near the interface were focused on the characteristic of the joint interface. Mechanical properties of the obtained clads were measured with shearing, peel and lateral bending tests. Systematic measurements of microhardness distribution enabled analyzing the strain-hardening of the material resulting from explosion welding both at the bond interface zone and throughout the whole section of the clad. It was established that during explosion welding with 10 mm Zr 700 the application of the 2 mm or 3 mm thick interlayers of Zr70 or Ti grade 1, respectively, allows obtaining a joint with good mechanical properties and optimal characteristic of the interface.

Purpose – To analyse the situation in Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) in the European Union and in Poland. Research method – Desk research and the analysis of available literature. The sources of data used were, among others: European Patent Office, Central Statistical Office, IMD World Competitiveness Centre and High Level Expert Group reports as well as the reports and data of the European Commission. KETs’ analysis in Poland was conducted based on the published CSO data. The article presents selected variables characterising the activity of enterprises operating in the field of biotechnology and nanotechnology, and the analyses of research and development activities as part of the executive sectors in both of the analysed fields. In addition, data on the number of registered patents in Poland and the share of the number of registered patents in the field of biotechnology in relation to their total number were presented. Results – The article covers topics connected with the measurement of KETs’ competitiveness, describes the situation of KETs in Europe and in Poland, not being a very innovative EU country. Originality /value – The problem of KETs and their importance for the EU and its members’ sustainable development is recognized in a limited scope. There is not much literature on the topic. There is no strategy for KETs at the national level in Poland.

By introducing a new technological line for formatting and milling mass-customized door frames for wooden doors, PORTA KMI Poland with an industrial plant located in Ełk, Poland, conducted appropriate performance tests of the line to determine the production capacity during technological acceptance in order to check whether the assumed capacity was met before its technical acceptance takes place. The work describes how the processing time changes for frames with changed beam lengths from the reference length of 2028 mm to 2600 mm and for frames whose width has been increased from 127 and 147 mm to 500 mm. On this basis, an average time of 25.53 s was calculated for door frames with beams 2600 mm long and 28.1 s for door frames with a width of 500 mm. Efficiency was also calculated, which is 2.35 for frames with a changed beam length of 2.14.

Creation and commercialization of high-tech knowledge determine prospects of economic development and competitiveness. The author embarks on the analysis of the Polish exports considering its technological sophistication. The primary purpose of the paper is to assess the performance of high-tech product clusters between 2013-2017. The particular emphasis is placed on the most significant high-tech categories, i.e., only those exceeding 0.2% share in the total Polish exports in 2017. Recent changes in their dynamics, compared with those in the global trade, provide evidence of their competitive position. Up to their results, they rank accordingly. Moreover, they may justify tailored and targeted measures within the strategic trade and industrial policy to support areas of high- -tech specialization. Against this backdrop, the author also calls for a more integral approach when evaluating the impact of the foreign direct investments as they profoundly shape the structure and results of the Polish exports.
Kreacja oraz komercjalizacja zaawansowanej wiedzy determinuje perspektywy rozwoju gospodarczego i konkurencyjności. Autor podejmuje w artykule analizę polskiego eksportu z perspektywy jego zaawansowania technologicznego. Głównym celem badania jest ocena wyników produktów high-tech w polskim eksporcie w latach 2013-2017. Zasadniczy akcent jest położony na najważniejsze dobra high-tech, tj. te, których udział w polskim eksporcie w 2017 r. przekraczał 0,2%. Zmiany w ich dynamice na tle handlu światowego stanowią dowód ich pozycji konkurencyjnej. W zależności od uzyskanych wyników zostały one odpowiednio sklasyfikowane oraz mogą uzasadniać stosowne działania w ramach strategicznej polityki handlowej i przemysłowej, wspierając obszary specjalizacji high-tech. Na tym tle autor wskazuje także na konieczność kompleksowej oceny zagranicznych inwestycji bezpośrednich, ponieważ oddziałują one na strukturę oraz wyniki polskiego eksportu.

The study of environmental loads resulting from manufacturing technology is of great importance for environmental protection. Applying the principles of sustainable development means "a way of farming in which meeting the needs of the present generation will not reduce the chances of meeting the needs of future generations." Faced with such a challenge, the product must be assessed throughout its entire life cycle (LCA). From the available technologies and materials, one should choose those that are least harmful to the environment. In order to make a correct choice, it is necessary to know and understand the technological processes and phenomena that take place in them. Using off-theshelf LCA applications, without knowing basic knowledge of manufacturing technology, can bias the results. The aim of the article is to present benefits resulting from the environmental assessment of manufacturing processes.

This paper introduces the mathematical model of operating the flexible syncronous productive line (FSPL) of multifunctional CNC machines, that includes one redundant multifunctional CNC machine which can take over functions of every FSPL machine. The graph of FSPL state, relations and equations used to calculate the reliability and the productivity were shown. Maple – the software used for reliability and productivity calculations and modelling as well as the mathematical results were presented.
