Opis:
The use of visual materials and methods in teaching so as to appeal to students’ senses is one of the earliest defined and most commonly accepted (especially in the twentieth century) principles governing the activities of religion teachers and students in religion lessons. In order to adhere to this principle one needs a detailed knowledge of teaching norms and methodological guidelines set down under the new religion curricula. In this article, an attempt will be made at describing the use of visual materials as a principle on which the teacher’s educational activities are based in the context of the amended “Core curriculum of the Catholic Church catechesis in Poland” and “Curriculum of RomanCatholic religion teaching”, approved in 2010 by the Commission for Catholic Education of the Polish Episcopal Conference. One shall begin with the understanding of the use of visual materials in general and catechetic didactics. Then, one shall analyse the issues related to this rule as a principle on which the religion teacher’s educational activities are based as proposed in the new, abovementioned curricula. In the conclusion, one describes catechetic suggestions for the authors of new series of textbooks and religion education materials as well as for religion teachers.

The importance of understanding language teacher identity is well-established in the existent literature. It has been shown to impact upon many aspects of teachers’ lives both inside and outside the classroom, such as wellbeing (Day & Kington, 2008) and self-efficacy (Canrinus, Helms-Lorenz, Beijaard, Buitink, & Hofman, 2012). The nature of language teacher identity is broadly categorised from a socio-cultural perspective, as dynamic rather than static, as negotiated in social interaction and (potentially) a source of struggle (Barkhuizen, 2017) or friction (Beijaard, Meijer, & Verloop, 2004). As this struggle with identity comes to the fore during periods of transition, when identity is seen to be challenged, the focus of research has largely been trained on pre-service or early-service teachers (Mercer & Kostoulas, 2018). The research in this paper addresses a teaching population who have thus far escaped the research gaze, but aspects of whose identity could be problematic and possible sites of struggle. Drawing upon a narrative approach, in case-study form, I examine how two established teachers (with four years or more service) who have been trained to work in the state-school context and who, for a variety of reasons are now working outside it, construct their language teacher identities. The findings point to the importance of the teachers’ own experiences as learners in their identity formation, and how emotion accompanies and acts as a driver of identity change as they seek stability and status on an uncertain professional path.

This article deals with the issues of educating journalists during the Franco regime in Spain and the place occupied by the School of Journalism of the Catholic Church in this system. The first years of dictatorship were characterized by a strong subordination of education and occupation to the current interests of the state, which regulated access to the profession and education only within the framework of the State School of Journalism. In the second half of the 50’s there was a gradual liberalization of the system, consisting in the gradual admission of other entities to the organization of vocational education of journalists, especially the Catholic Church. This allowed for the launch in 1960 of the School of Journalism of the Catholic Church, the functioning of which was the first manifestation of the regime’s gradual withdrawal from state supervision over the process of educating journalists. The Catholic Church School referred to the pre-war, excellent traditions of the journalism school organized by the Catholic daily El Debate, becoming a kind of counterweight to the regime’s State School of Journalism. The competition between schools (although still slight at that time) contributed to an increase in the quality of education. The emphasis on the completion of general education or the design of curricula taking into account the development of information technology made it possible to equip students with competences required in the labour market, which previously could only be obtained to a greater or lesser extent in practice.

The article concerns the issue of religious instruction in Polish state schools, especially its inspiration from the Bible as the primary source of the transmission of faith. When religious education classes were introduced in schools, a confessional model of their performance was adopted, thus leading to establishing closer ties with churches and religious associations as well as developing personal faith. The methodology of my research was based on analysing the current anchoring of the teaching of religion in the Polish state law and the guidelines of the Catholic Church. Next, the 2018 Core Curriculum for the Catechesis of the Catholic Church in Poland, related to the reform of the Polish education system and the completely new situation resulting from the liquidation of the junior high school stage of education, was used to show biblical guidelines for religious instruction and a set of methodological tools that guarantee its effectiveness. Confessional religion classes are currently organized in all government-run schools in Poland, and according to recent statistical data they significantly contribute to their better functioning. Consequently, there is a need to appeal for the continuation of religious education in schools and its modification based on multimedia technology, and there is a necessity to overcome the tendency to remove classes of religion from Polish public schools.

This study investigates students’ deviant behaviors as perceived by their teachers in secondary schools with the aim of knowing the factors responsible for such behaviors. The study adopts the quantitative approach to carry out the research. Stratifid and simple random techniques were usednto select 380 participants that participated in the study. An instrument tagged “Factors of Deviant Behaviors and Measures Questionnaire" (FDBMQ) was used to elicit data from the respondents. Partial Least Square (PLS) software was used to assess the psychometric properties of the items contained in the questionnaire, while Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to do the descriptive analysis. In addition, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to test the three hypotheses formulated for the study. Results of the study revealed three factors (parent, society and school) that contribute to deviant behaviors. Findings also indicate measures that can be used to minimize deviant behaviors. Also, the results of the ANOVA showed a signifiant difference, while Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was used as a post-hoc test to determine the group that contributes to the signifiant difference. The results of the three hypotheses confimed that signifiant difference exists on the basis of religion, age, and educational qualifiations. Based on the fidings of the study, implication for educational managers and future research direction were provided.

The understanding of political pedagogy by Kazimierz Sośnicki as a kind of comparative pedagogy studies on the relationship between political systems and the educational system, as well as the goals, contents and effects of school actions. I intend to contribute to the memento of an important trend in Polish pedagogy, abandoned after the war. In my opinion, it should be included in pedagogy and education. It is necessary both in pedagogy and pedagogical practice to educate for critical political wisdom. In the face of the disarray of political structures and the language of public debates, it is necessary to develop the capacity for an independent position, over partial divisions and fighting. The subject of political pedagogy was practiced with a gusto in the 1930s.

Subject and purpose of work: The reason for choosing the subject and undertaking the studies were information gaps regarding the behaviour of young consumers in the area of activities related to enviroment. Materials and methods: The study employed purposeful sampling with regards to the participants’ field of study (programmes with environmental education content) and the year of education, as well as stratified sampling according to the structure of the population and its division into groups based on specified features. The technique of auditorium questionnaire was used. Results: The analysis showed that the students are characterised by a high level of ecological awareness and a sense of responsibility for it, and that is they are informed and pragmatic consumers. As involved and ecological consumers, they behave in a pro-ecological way and create desirable patterns of consumer behaviour. Conclusions: It was found that the students have a sense of responsibility for the surrounding environment. Convinced about their individual influence, they create desirable patterns of proecological behaviour.
Przedmiot i cel pracy: Uzasadnieniem wyboru tematu oraz podjęcia badań były luki informacyjne w zakresie zachowań młodych konsumentów w obszarze działań związanych ze środowiskiem. Materiały i metody: W badaniach zastosowano celowy dobór próby z uwagi na kierunek i rok kształcenia oraz warstwowy - znana była struktura populacji oraz podział na warstwy wg określonych cech. Wykorzystano technikę ankiety audytoryjnej. Wyniki: Analizowanych studentów charakteryzuje wysoki poziom świadomości ekologicznej oraz poczucia odpowiedzialności za nie jako konsumentów poinformowanych i pragmatycznych. Podejmują oni zachowania proekologiczne oraz jako konsumenci zaangażowani i ekologiczni tworzą pożądane wzorce zachowań konsumenckich. Wnioski: Analizowani studenci mają poczucie odpowiedzialności za otaczające ich środowisko zaś przekonanie o indywidualnym wpływie znajduje przełożenie w proekologicznych zachowaniach.

The article points out Marian Wimmer’s achievements in the field of creating the State Higher School of Visual Arts in Łódź (today’s Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts). Marian Wimmer was a versatile artist of many interests, active in various fields. He graduated as an architect and followed his vocation as a teacher, art theoretician and organizer of artistic education. He established the so-called film department, later transformed into Lodz Film School, at the State Higher School of Visual Arts (PWSSP) in Łódź (today’s Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts) and co-organized the faculty of architecture there. Despite his tremendous achieve- ments, activity in many fields and an exceptional personality, he has slipped memory and has been erased from the history of both the film and the art school. It is difficult to reconstruct the beginnings of the PWSST, or the role that Marian Wimmer played there, mostly due to a lack of fully preserved archives. The fact that Wimmer was a member of the PWSSP Curriculum Board, as well as the positions of e.g. deputy head and head that he held, definitely underline his significant contribution to the school’s history. His role in developing the PWSSP was so important that his contemporaries called it Wimmer’s school. This is not about giving up the existing narra- tion, but filling a certain gap in history and thus creating its more comprehensive picture.
Artykuł zwraca uwagę na dokonania Mariana Wimmera w zakresie tworzenia łódzkiej szkoły artystycznej PWSSP (dziś ASP). Marian Wimmer to twórca wszechstronny, o wielu zainteresowaniach, działających w różnych przestrzeniach. Z wykształcenia był architektem, z pasji pedagogiem, teoretykiem sztuki, organizatorem szkolnictwa artystycznego. Założył tzw. wydział filmowy na PWSSP w Łodzi (dziś ASP), przekształcony potem w Szkołę Filmową, współorganizował wydział architektury na PWSSP w Łodzi. Mimo swoich niebywałych osiągnięć, wielotorowej działalności i niezwykłej osobowości wymknął się z pamięci, wymazany został zarówno z dziejów szkoły filmowej, jak i tej artystycznej. Początki kształtowania PWSSP w Łodzi, z uwagi przede wszystkim na brak w pełni zachowanych archiwaliów trudne są dziś do rekonstrukcji, podobnie jak i rola w niej Mariana Wimmera. Z pewnością znaczącą rolę Wimmera w dziejach szkoły podkreśla fakt, że znalazł się w jej Radzie Programowej, a także zajmowane przez niego stanowiska, m.in. wicedyrektora i dyrektora. Jego rola w kształtowaniu szkoły była zaś na tyle duża, że współcześni nazywali ją szkołą Wimmera. Nie chodzi tutaj o porzucenie dotychczasowej narracji, ale wypełnienie luki w historii, stworzenie jej bardziej całościowego obrazu

Niniejszy tekst prezentuje okoliczności powstania i funkcjonowanie Państwowego Gimnazjum i Liceum dla Dorosłych przy Korpusie Bezpieczeństwa Wewnętrznego w Legnicy. Szkoła ta istniała w Legnicy w latach 1946 –1963 i była ściśle powiązana z działalnością Korpusu Bezpieczeństwa Wewnętrznego w Legnicy. Niestety, ze względu na bardzo niewielką obecnie ilość dostępnych materiałów źródłowych możliwe było przybliżenie tylko pewnych epizodów z jej dziejów. Nie ulega wątpliwości, iż odegrała ona znaczącą rolę w kształceniu kadr oficerskich angażujących się w okresie powojennym w działania, których celem było wcielanie w życie społeczno-politycznych koncepcji reżimu komunistycznego.
This paper presents the circumstances of the foundation and functioning of State Secondary School and High School for Adult Learners at Legnica Internal Security Corps. The aforementioned educational institution operated in Legnica between 1946 and 1963 and it had close links with Legnica Internal Security Corps. Unfortunately, nowadays, it is only possible to describe selected events in its history with regard to the lack of sufficient resource materials to rely on. Beyond doubt, the institution played a major role in the formation of officer corps, engaging into activities aimed at implementing the social and political concepts of the communist regime in Poland in the post-war era.

The article describes Hugo Kołłataj`s thought about systems of education in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the second half of the 18th century In the article we analyze the publicist work of Kołłątaj: „About revision of the Military Academy and about restitution of regional militias described in 1784”. Both treatises concern Kołłątaj`s thoughts about systems of education before beginning his activity connected with works of the Great Sejm. In the article I describe the following problems: the meaning of education in the state and in the society, its aims, systems of education,and conditions to correct and effective education, roles of the state in connection with education, education as remedy for polish anarchy, main ideas of education and its content, ways of conduct of education, roles of teachers in education, situation and perspectives of the youth after education. Kołłątaj`s thoughts about education have been presented in light of his time.
W artykule zostały omówione poglądy Hugona Kołłątaja na temat oświaty w Polsce w II połowie XVIII w. Analizie poddano tekst Kołłątaja zatytułowany O poprawie szkoły Kadetów i o wskrzeszeniu milicyi wojewódzkich napisany w roku 1784. Powstał on przed rozpoczęciem przez niego działalności wokół spraw związanych z Sejmem Czteroletnim. W artykule omówione zostały następujące zagadnienia: znaczenie edukacji w państwie i społeczeństwie, jej cele, ustrój szkolnictwa, warunki właściwego i efektywnego nauczania, zadania państwa w związku z edukacją, edukacja jako remedium na polską anarchię, idee przewodnie edukacji i jej treść, sposoby prowadzenia edukacji, rola nauczyciela w wychowaniu młodzieży, sytuacja i perspektywy młodzieży po zakończeniu. Poruszono też kwestię, na jakich wzorcach powinni polegać autorzy przyszłych programów nauczania przy ich układaniu. Myśl Kołłątaja o oświacie przedstawiono na tle epoki.

Union of Lublin State Middle and Secondary School in Lublin
Opis:
The article describes the activity of one of the three main underground education centres at the level of general secondary school operating in Lublin from 1939 to 1944. The functioning of the centre is shown taking account of the elements of educational policy and the realities of the local occupation situation. The text attempts to comprehensively describe the issue of secret teaching conducted in the discussed environment, which has so far been presented mainly in publications dealing with the participation of teachers in the underground education movement in the Lublin region or in memoirs. The article discusses the circumstances in which the underground education centre was established, the conditions under which it functioned, the participation of teachers and students in conspiratorial educational work, the didactic methods applied and the outcome of students’ involvement in secret teaching. The results of the quantitative balance have been obtained based on the analysis of various statistical data, including previously unknown materials stored in the Central Archives of Modern Records. To make a full picture of the activities of the ‘Union’ Centre, archival materials have also been used from the resources of the State Archives in Lublin, the Archives of the 3rd Union of Lublin Secondary School in Lublin, handwritten materials from the resources of Lublin libraries as well as published reports and memories of former teachers and students of the school. By compiling data from source materials and thematic publications, a list of 36 underground teachers cooperating with the ‘Union’ Centre has been made.

Aim. The purpose of the work is to find, study, thematically, chronologically present, and analyse the place of education and especially school education in Georgian politics in the post-Soviet period in Georgia, as well as to determine the attitude to the issue, highlight the ongoing activities, and show the existing results and future perspective. Methods. The work is presented based on several researched-studied official government documents, empirical materials, analysis of scientific research papers, and the use of the comparative method in the Georgian reality of the post-Soviet period. Results. The paper identifies the current situation at the level of public education in Georgia following the goals of modern-sustainable development since the 1990s, which is known as the most difficult period of Georgia's history; it highlights the existing legal framework in the school education system and the implementation of the set plans; it shows effective steps of the state to develop and implement education policy. Conclusion. By studying a number of materials, it is confirmed that the political course of Georgia for the promotion of school education in Georgian reality, despite the existing difficult political situation, was characterised by great support when all political teams were in power because the mentioned issue is a part of the domestic policy in the country, which is always important and relevant.

Opis:
At the end of the 19th century, activities were initiated in the Ottoman State to increase the knowledge of the Muslims and Ehl-i Perde (those with a Muslim name but who do not fulfill the requirements of Islam) Kıptis (Roma) in various fields, particularly in religion. Imams were appointed to their settlement areas. Schools were opened. In the meantime, they were also recruited into the army where they received education/training in many aspects. The aim of this article is to examine the adaptation of the Roma into the Muslim society during the discussed period.
