In this study, the partial slip contact problem for a monoclinic coated half plane indented by a rigid cylindrical punch is considered. The main objective of current study is to illustrate the effects of material anisotropy on the surface stresses, the contact width and the stick/slip region of the partial slip contact. Using the Fourier integral transform and boundary conditions of the problem, the singular integral equation of the system is obtained. Numerical results of the problem are provided for typical fibrous composites applying the Gauss-Chebyshev discretization method. Sensitivity analysis of the surface stresses is performed for both the material and geometric parameters. The results indicate that the coating fiber angle can significantly alter the distribution of contact tractions. As the fiber angle ranges from θ = 0° to θ = 90°, the contact half-length increases up to 20% whereas the stick zone half-length varies significantly.

W artykule omówiono kwestie związane z wyznaczaniem odporności obuwia na poślizg, a przede wszystkim zagadnienie symulacji poślizgu występującego w realnych warunkach eksploatacji obuwia. Dokonano przeglądu metod i urządzeń stosowanych do pomiaru śliskości obuwia i powierzchni podłogowych. Przedstawiono metodę wyznaczania odporności obuwia na poślizg według normy PN-EN ISO 13287:2007 zharmonizowanej z dyrektywą 89/686/EWG.
This paper discusses questions related to determining footwear slip resistance, especially the issue of simulation of slip occurring in actual conditions of footwear usage. The methods and testing devices for measuring footwear and floor slipperiness have been surveyed. A test method for footwear slip resistance, in accordance with PN-EN ISO 13287:2007 is presented.

A standard composition for hard porcelain production was prepared by mixing 50 wt% kaolin, 25 wt% potassium feldspar and 25 wt% quartz. Calcined colemanite powders were added to the porcelain formulation by replacing the potassium feldspar up to 5 wt% to explore its effect on the rheological behaviour of porcelain slip casting. A rheological study has been carried out in order to optimize the processing of the slip casting by using a rotational stress-controlled rheometer. The measurements were performed at constant temperature (25°C) using a parallel plate configuration. Sweep measurements were then conducted in the shear rates ranging from about 0.1-1000 s¯¹. The stability of the suspensions with ammonium polyacrylate (Darvan 821A) was determined in order to select the suitable dispersant amount. In order to achieve casting of acceptable characteristics on a plaster of Paris mould, the slurry should have the appropriate thixotropic or shear-thinning behaviours. Therefore, the same favourable thixotropic behaviour of slurries of different amount of calcined colemanite powders, the solid contents of the slurries have been optimised.

The whole process of clamping offshore well double metal composite pipe was established, Reviewing the problems that in the oil and gas wells the double metal composite pipes frequently get plastic damage or even fracture failure when the power slips hold fast to the double metal composite pipe, the effect Eq. of contact area to tooth plate and double metal composite pipe was deduced, and based on the elastoplastic contact analysis theory, the theoretical Eq. was verified. For the double metal composite pipe stress, displacement and stress of drill tooth plate, influence of slip teeth plate on the double metal composite pipe damage was analyzed, The plastic damage law of the double metal composite pipe was obtained with the influence factor of the contact surface and the influence factor of the tooth crown width. the analysis showed that, The double metal composite pipe can be clamped and the contact area value of the tooth plate with the minimum damage are fixed. Several sets of teeth were produced, and then used to carry out experiments, indoor and field experiments have fully proved the accuracy of the result, The research work provides a better theoretical basis for optimal design of slip tooth plate.

Numerical simulations of tension and shear tests for a polycrystalline, anisotropic material were performed using crystal plasticity theory. The slip was considered here as the main mechanism of plastic deformation. Constitutive equations to describe the elastic-plastic deformation caused by the slip are presented. The generation and meshing of various shapes geometries (cubic and paddy shapes) with randomly-orientated grains by means of open source program NEPER program was shown. The Voronoi tessellation was used in order to include morphological properties of a crystalline material. The selected results of elastic-plastic analyses (stress, strain distributions and the macroscopic stress-strain resulting from homogenization) are presented here. The results obtained show the non-uniform distribution of stress and strain for different grains associated with their crystal orientation. The crystal plasticity finite element modelling of materials subjected to plastic deformation is important for microstructure-based mechanical predictions, as well as for the engineering design and to perform simulations involving not only the change of a material’s shape at a macro level but also the phenomena occurring in material in a micro-scale.

The presented paper provides the alternative options for determining the condition of belt gear based on the testing and monitoring. In order to carry out experimental measurements, a newly developed device for testing, monitoring and diagnostics of belt drives was designed, as well as the possibility of determination of limit states by extreme loads. The designed measuring stand allows to determine the point of destruction of the belt for an extreme load. The main objective of the experimental measurement was to determine the slip of the wedge-shaped belt. The slip was evaluated by the coefficient of belt creeping and the specific belt slip by means of the measuring stand. The measurements on the proposed device can be made when the input speed from the electric motor and the transmitted torque of the belt gear are constant while the tensioning force of the belt drive is changing or the measurements can be made when the tensioning force and input speed of the belt drive are constant and the torsional moment changes. The monitoring of specified parameters for determining the belt gear slip is made by means of sensors located at predetermined locations from which data is processed by a PC. In the paper, the analytical calculation is processed, from which the values are compared with the values measured on the proposed device.

The slip boundary condition can be a very useful relation when some specific problems of hydromechanics are considered. According to the classical form of this condition, the slip of a fluid with respect to the solid wall should occur even at a very low velocity of motion. However, both theoretical analysis and certain empirical data suggest that there must be a limit value of the wall shear stress, below which the slip does not occur. According to the simplified balance of adhesive and gravitational forces, a simple experimental method for determining this stress has been proposed and applied in this paper.

In the paper, the problem of axially symmetric contact involving partial slip for a rigid flat-ended cylinder and elastic half-space is considered. Friction forces are taken into account. In addition, the surface of the half-space is assumed to be covered by some roughness. The model of the roughness involving the friction forces is developed. The problem is reduced to integral equations, which are solved numerically.
W pracy zajęto się zagadnieniem osiowo-symetrycznego kontaktu płasko zakończonego walca z podatną półprzestrzenią przy uwzględnieniu częściowego poślizgu oraz sił tarcia. Dodatkowo założono, że powierzchnia rozważanej półprzestrzeni jest chropowata. Zaproponowano odpowiedni model chropowatości z siłami tarcia. Całe zagadnienie sprowadzono do równań całkowych, które rozwiązano numerycznie.

One of the most critical elements ensuring the proper operation of locomotives are devices that detect and eliminate slipping, especially during the start-up of the locomotive in difficult operating conditions. Various types of slip control systems and methods are used on traction vehicles, depending on the design of a given locomotive and the assumptions made related to the functionality of a given solution. This article describes the PVP-20 type slip detection device used in many older electric locomotives. A proprietary measuring system was developed, enabling it to be connected to the locomotive circuit, to perform measurements in conditions of large disturbances and high voltages prevailing on the electric locomotive. Using this measuring system, the PVP-20 device was tested under operating conditions for the ability to detect slips. It has been shown that the described device is highly insensitive. Hence, we propose our concept for solving this problem.

The present study investigates the combined effects of varying viscosity and heat transfer on a Casson fluid through an inclined porous axisymmetric tube in the presence of slip effects. The modeled governing equations are solved analytically by considering the long wavelength and small Reynolds number approximations. The numerical integration is employed to obtain pressure rise and frictional force. A parametric analysis has been presented to study the effects of the Darcy number, angle of inclination, varying viscosity, velocity slip, thermal slip, yield stress, amplitude ratio, Prandtl number and Eckert number on the pressure rise, pressure gradient, streamlines, frictional force and temperature. The study reveals that an increase in the angle of inclination and viscosity parameter has a proportional increase in the pressure rise. Also, an increase in the porosity causes a significant reduction in the pressure rise.
