Opis:
The original view of Joseph Życiński, presented in his book The Structure of the Metascientific Revolution (1988), boils down to the observation that almost before our eyes a great revolution took place, not in science, but in the philosophy of science, that is the meta-scientific revolution. His concept of the meta-scientific revolution grew out of his fascination with the revolution that took place in the foundations of mathematics in the first decades of the twentieth century. Whether a change in science deserves to be called a revolution is determined by whether the transformations it underwent also reached the meta-level. The set of presuppositions underlying transformations on the meta-level Życiński calls ideata. One of the aims of this article is to critically reconstruct the meaning of this term. The action of Życiński’s book takes place mainly on meta-level, but the meta-level constantly interacts with what is happening in science itself. The book sometimes makes an impression as if it were a study of the history of science, but history of science in a specific sense – something like a “sampling” of history with numerous examples. Among the creations of human thought, it is difficult to point to an area that changes more dynamically than science itself, but looking at it from a meta-perspective allows us to grasp those of its features that operate on a much broader scale.

The purpose of this article is to analyze different aspects of the crisis present in the play entitled The King, the Rat and the King’s Fool by Matéi Visniec. In this grotesque play, we move from a crisis of the monarchy, situated in a world that is both carnivalesque and revolutionary, to a crisis of humanity in democratic society. The madness of the leaders, the degeneration of the society, the crisis of the words and the manipulation of the history, which is at the service of the politics, are the main facets of the crisis, denounced by the author through the various forms of the grotesque and around which the present analysis is structured.

Lecz w refleksjach Hume’a dotyczących Wielkiej Rebelii możemy odnaleźć pierwszą analizę rewolucji w nowoczesnym znaczeniu jako wydarzenia społecznego, politycznego i religijnego o nadzwyczajnym charakterze. Dlatego, czytając Historię Anglii, Burke mógł w roku 1789 przewidzieć następne akty francuskiego dramatu, ponieważ zdał sobie sprawę, że francuscy rewolucjoniści byli podobni do angielskich z czasów rewolty purytańskiej. Autor zatem dowodzi, że polityczne proroctwo Burke’a byłoby niemożliwe bez obserwacji rewolucyjnej dynamiki, której dokonał Hume.
Edmund Burke, an English statesman, a political theorist, and a philosopher is the founding father of political conservatism. His Reflections on the Revolution in France – the holy book of conservatism – is one of the best known intellectual attack against the French Revolution. However this pamphlet is also a perfect study of a revolution itself. In this article the Author examines the sources of Burke an theory of revolution and the dynamics of revolutionary process. He argues, that his thought is rooted in David Hume’s political philosophy and his philosophy of history. Perhaps the surprising fact is that Burke by formulating his political principles found it possible to profit to an even greater extent from the historical writings of Hume – his greater political enemy. But in Hume an reflections on the Great Rebellion we can find the first analysis of revolution as social, political and religious extraordinary event in modern sense. Describing the revolutionary Puritans Hume discovered, that uncontrolled, obstinate, and dangerous spirit of innovation inclined to destruction of social order. In the end, starting from the exaggerated pursuit of liberty, the nation fell into the most abject servitude. But he also observed that although revolution is triggered by some moderate powers, it is completed by radicals. Therefore reading his History of England in 1789 Burke could have foreseen the next acts of the French drama, because he realized, that French revolutionaries were similar to English ones during the Puritan Revolution. So the Author argues, that Burke an political prophecy would be impossible without Hume’s observations of revolutionary dynamics.

In his review of La Condition humaine, Georges Bataille asserts that André Malraux’s novel shows how revolutionary power is based, in its psychological structure, on a catastrophe, on the lasting consciousness of a catastrophe upon which has depended the fate of multitudes. From this reading of Malraux, we will explore the catastrophic vision of Bataille himself in his novel Le Bleu du ciel and his essays for Contre-Attaque, written in the course of the 1930s, but, in the case of Le Bleu du ciel, only published more than twenty years afterwards. In the face of a “rising tide of murder” that seems to make the triumph of fascism and war inevitable, the failure of his dream of a “Popular Front in the street” is embodied in the political and erotic impotence of the troubling character of Henri Troppmann. Bataille’s dead-end contrasts brutally with the publicly committed work of Malraux, who seems to offer an alternative vision of revolutionary fate. But are there similarities between the “committed” novelist Malraux and the “shameful” one that is Bataille? Both writers show a profound interest in the sacred, which transcends a narrowly political frame.

The article offers a reading of Jan Józef Szczepański’s Koniec westernu (focusing on its sub-chapter Rewolucja dzieciaków) in the light of postcolonial theory. Having himself experienced political oppression in Polish People’s Republic, Szczepański developed a type of postcolonial sensibility, which gave him a unique perspective on the problems of post-war United States. This context and his biography help to point out particular features of Szczepański’s picture of the hippies who experience social exclusion in the US. They feel alienated from middle-class society which they see as dominated by materialism, and they evolve their own lifestyle.

The article attempts to assess the trends of the fourth industrial revolution, which is a new stage of scientific information or scientific and technical revolution (the first stage of which is the third industrial revolution) as an industrial revolution in the modern era related to the transition to a new production principle, namely: scientific information, which replaces the industrial one. Positive and negative tendencies that may appear in the field of social security in Ukraine were indicated. Based on the examples of previous industrial revolutions, the conditions of the fourth industrial revolution were found to create a gap between the necessary and practical level of consumption of services providing social security, and the processes of spiritual degradation of society are intensifying. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the social security system in the future.

100 years of constitutionalism of two neighbouring European states – Czechoslovakia, later becoming the Czech Republic, and Poland – encourage a reflection on the paths of development of their respective constitutions, on the historical stages and successive olitical transformations, not just in the context of individual constitutionalisms of each of those states but with an emphasis on the similarities and differences in this domain. And this is what this study focuses on. Starting from the common fate of rebirth of both states after WWI through the inter-war efforts to establish democratic constitutional systems and the obstacles found on the way, followed by the post-WWII period of real socialism ending with the era of transformations and stabilisation as democratic states of law. The text explores all the similarities found in both general aspects – like the references to the European tradition of parliamentary governance – and in certain specific solutions – like the differences in the concept of the two-chamber parliament. But there are also situations occurring in only one of the states, e.g. the federalisation of Czechoslovakia, the emergence of two separate states of the Czechs and Slovaks, or the differences in the course and sequence of events of democratic transformations in each of the states in the 1980s, which brings us to the conclusion that despite all the possible differences, the two constitutional systems have actually been very similar to each other.

Opis:
In spite of the implications of its name, the Quiet Revolution in Quebec seems to be rather tempestuous at the family level. The conflict between generations, set in a historic context, puts into question the functioning of the entire society, especially the dominant role of the father. The objective of this article, therefore, is to analyze the position of the father in the social context. Thus, I discuss various types of fathers: a farmer father, the patriarch who leaves the household chores to the wife; a worker father, subservient to both his wife at home and to his boss at the factory; a bourgeois father who works for himself; and finally, an immigrant father who seeks his place within the new society.

Philosophical interests of Joseph Życiński (1948-2011) in the domain of the philosophy of science were focused on the debate concerning the nature of science and philosophy of science that followed the Einstein-Planck revolution in science. The unexpected discovery of the philosophical, extra-scientific presuppositions in science, as well as of the extra-rational factors determining the way these presuppositions are accepted in science were to be explained within the meta-scientific framework. It is the aim of this paper to present ˙ Życiński’s diagnosis of this post-revolutionary situation in the philosophy of science as well as his critique of the metascientific answers to this challenge. The reasons will be given why all those answers are put under two dichotomous rubrics of internalism and externalism. It will be also explained how Życiński intends to supersede this false in his opinion opposition with a new concept of the doxatic rationality. However, the details of the metascientific proposal of Życiński will be given only in the subsequent paper. In order to perform the aim of the paper the metatheoretic tools set out by Popper (1979) will be used.

A significant step on the road to Seneca Falls had taken place three years earlier when Margaret Fuller, the former editor of Emerson’s literary magazine The Dial, published Woman in the Nineteenth Century, an erudite and impassioned plea for female equality that had no precedent in American letters. Yet when the pioneering band of feminists gathered to ratify its Declaration of Sentiments at Seneca Falls, Fuller was thousands of miles away. The revolutionary movement to which she devoted her heart and toil that year was not the cause of American feminism, but the democratic revolution in Rome.

The Prague agglomeration consisted of four medieval towns: the Old Town, the New Town, Mala Strana and also Hradčany. The article throws light on the relations, often dramatic, between the town halls of the Old and New Towns (the fi rst was built in 1338, the second before 1374) in the 15th century. An uprising broke out in the New Town in 1419. The insurgents forced their way into the town hall and defenestrated 10–13 men. In May 1420 the communes appointed new councillors for the first time. In August, on the initiative of Jan Želivský, a general meeting of the communes was convened in the Old Town hall and new councillors were appointed. In June 1421 armed action by the townsmen of the New Town resulted in the town council’s resignation. Both towns were combined into a single body governed from the Old Town hall, of course, under Želivský’s dictatorship. However, the chancelleries of both towns remained independent and maintained town ledgers in parallel. During that period the importance of the town councils’ dropped to an alltime low, political decisions were taken by Želivský, without the participation of either of the town halls (in 1422 Želivský was imprisoned in the Old Town hall and subsequently decapitated). The association of Prague communes disintegrated at the turn of 1423/24. Sigismund Korybut ruled in the period from 1422 to 1427. The Duke established a new joint council for the Old and New Towns, consisting of 18 councillors from both towns. Korybut was overthrown, but everything seems to point to the fact that later both towns were once again unified; however, from August 1428 at the latest, the councils again became independent. In 1434 thanks to the support of Bohemian lords, the townsmen of the Old Town captured the New Town. But in 1436, the Holy Roman Emperor, Sigismund of Luxembourg, who had already accepted a pledge of allegiance from the townsmen of Prague, freed the citizens of the New Town from the Old Town’s hegemony. In 1483 another uprising began in Prague, which was referred to as the epilogue to the Hussite revolution, which claimed new victims from among the authorities of both town halls. Forty years later there were further tensions in Prague.

With a unique mix of innovation, entrepreneurship and favorable economic conditions, the United States has become the world's largest producer of crude oil and natural gas, and in the near future may become a key exporter of these commodities. Of course, this would not be possible if there were no huge resources in the American territory. However, advanced technology has enabled them to operate. The boom on unconventional raw materials, or rather raw materials extracted by unconventional methods, is so far an American specialty. Although many states have tried, and some continue to do so, no one has succeeded in repeating the success of American entrepreneurs. This work consists of three essential parts. The first concerns issues related to types of unconventional natural gas resources. The second involves the shale revolution in the United States. The third refers to the selected economic aspects of this revolution. The main thesis is that the experiences of the American Revolution are very difficult to replicate in other regions of the world. Due to the specifics of the US mining industry, the deregulated energy market and American legal solutions, it is difficult to expect a repeat of success.

Opis:
This paper displays the birth of the Russian intelligentsia and demonstrates the differences between educated people and members of the intelligentsia. It proves that each member of the intelligentsia is educated, while not every educated person is a member of the intelligentsia. Such a person needs to be fanatically devoted to the idea of the emancipation of the people, which is followed by atheists. The paper distinguishes the Russian intelligentsia and the Polish intelligentsia. It discovers the destructiveness of the intelligentsia based on the Gnostic-Manichaean foundation. It emphasizes the anti-worldness of the secularization of religious beliefs and ideas which are averse to the world as such. It proves that the Russian idea of the world transformation is motivated by destructive desires: hatred towards life, towards existence in bodily and physical mortal life. The author of the paper proves that the response to the destructive potential of the idea of the absolute world transformation triggered the beginnings of the Russian religious rebirth – the return to the metahistorical dimension of the Russian idea.

The analysis of changes in Poland after 2015 based on the paradigm of the revolution has not proved unambiguously that these changes are a revolution, according to commonly accepted schemes. It showed that these changes have many features of the revolution. It is a self-limiting revolution. All changes that have taken place since 2015 destroys the system of liberal democracy, but retains its source, the system of corporate capitalism. Against the expectations of the masses, increases the oppressiveness of the state apparatus. Perhaps it is a new type of revolution, because historically speaking, the revolution always redefined itself. If we assume that Solidarity transformations was itself a new type of the revolution, then the changes after 2015, which are their generative continuation, are such kind of revolution.

The article takes up a problem of a complex relationship between Hegel and the French Revolution, of which the philosopher was both a great enthusiast and a brilliant critic. The point of departure for the analysis is a critical reading of the traditional interpretations of Hegel’s relation to the Revolution (J. Ritter and J. Habermas), which enables the author to develop a “speculative interpretation of the Revolution” on the basis of Phenomenology of Spirit. The key to the understanding of the dynamics of the Enlightenment, which found its culmination in the Revolution, is the inner dialectic of knowledge and faith which constitutes this epoch. The ideas of the Enlightenment become undermined by the opposition between the German (reformation) process of working through the relation between faith and knowledge and the French (revolutionary) repression of its mutual relationship. This paradox recognized by Hegel (in R. Comay’s interpretation) leads the philosopher to formulate a dialectic position: revolution with reformation would be the work of mourning (the process of working through) on this lost object (the world of faith), whereas revolution without reformation would remain only futile melancholy of terror, compensating for the lack of reformation. The paradoxical lesson for the present times (inspired by S. Žižek’s reading) which arises from Hegel’s interpretation is the following: cultural revolution (revolution in thinking itself, in utopian dreams) is the condition of possibility of the success of social revolution.

The article presents the history and analyses the form of Almanac des Honnêtes Gens [Almanac of Good People] by Sylvain Maréchal (1750–1803), published a year before the Revolution. This work is pioneering in relation to the revolutionary calendar of 1793 — it proposes a very similar idea of breaking with the Christian calendar and introducing a new system of values and for measuring time in human history. In his Almanac, Sylvain Maréchal replaces the names of saints and patrons of the Catholic Church with those of philosophers, artists, writers, and politicians who, because of their lives and works, deserve eternal memory of their posterity. The idea of “new saints”, symbols of human wisdom and the power of the spirit, anticipates the dechristianisation movement and the idea of a “new time” that was soon to be promoted by the Revolution.

Many pamphlets and books written during the French Revolution address the controversial subject of the monarchy, its fall and the new order. However, Jean-Claude Gorjy’s ’Ann’quin Bredouille is certainly one of the most fascinating examples. In his book, Gorjy ridicules the new revolutionary reality and points out its many social, political, cultural and linguistic absurdities. The aim of this paper is to present the story of the white elephant, told in the third volume of ’Ann’quin Bredouille, in order to analyze how Gorjy confronted the political taboo during the revolutionary period as well as to explain why he decided to use an allegory instead of making an explicit reference to King Louis XVI and the Ancien Régime.

The 1989–1981 Solidarity revolution took everybody by surprise: the political authorities, the democratic opposition and the observers of social life in Poland. It also took the sociologists by surprise. This essay tries to explain why Polish sociology did not forecast Solidarity. The author argues that the reason for this failure lies in the fact that the birth of Solidarity was a revolutionary, and therefore naturally unpredictable, event. It was also an unprecedented one. It was the first anti-totalitarian revolution. He also points out that major social conflict was unthinkable in the context of mainstream theories and did not fit into Polish sociologists’ ideas concerning their own society. He recognizes that the amazement which Solidarity evoked stimulated reflection which led to a deeper understanding of social process and the nature of prediction in sociology.

Media convergence forces press publishers strategies , not only in their development, but also to survive in a competitive market. It is appropriate in these circumstances making activities that will strengthen the position of the publishing market . Opis:
Jan Wacław Machajski was characterized by a great changeability of moods and ability for going from one extreme to another – opposite to the previous one – from youthful years. Moreover, his attitude was very emotional and he was not deceived by any explanation or polemic. Originally he got involved in illegal activity in Polish national movement. However, having been arrested by Russians and sentenced to three years in prison and five years exile to the Eastern Siberia, he had radically changed his views and was fascinated by the extreme revolutionary idea embed in peculiar realities of the Russian Empire. Criticizing ideas preferred by Marxist and social democrats, he demanded anarchistic and freedom patterns. He created his own, original revolutionary doctrine, whose the central axis was proletariat, which was to cause revolution giving freedom for all the people enslaved in the country of tsars. After the return from the exile, he lived abroad in Switzerland, but his eccentric ideas found many adherents in Russia in the first two decades of the twentieth century. They had stimulated their own activity within the framework of so-called working conspiracy in times of Revolution in 1905 and other anarchistic and radical groups existing in the area of the Russian Empire.

The age of intellectual debates in France between the Revolution in 1789 and the Dreyfus Affair at the turn of the centuries is one of the key sources that enable the understanding of the modern political culture. It concerns, in particular, the modern concept of liberty that became one of the defining values shaping the European political discourse. Thus, the post-revolutionary France remains an extremely valuable source of inspiration when revisiting the essence of many contemporary debates in political philosophy and public discourse. Most of the ideas and arguments in circulation today echo the debates over the liberty, reason, and society that dominated the intellectual climate of that period in the French political history or, at least, heavily depend on the foundational ideas formulated then and there. Thus, they are worth reconsidering.

Opis:
Police brutality in Nigeria assumed monstrous dimensions and indeed remained the greatest threat to the youths and the survival of the nation. The government has not been seen to do much to resolve these problems and has made citizens who are inflicted with constant violence to begin to revolt. This paper examines the impact of police brutality on the peace and progress of Nigeria. It argues that low remuneration for police officers, indiscipline of police officers, corrupt political and judicial system from top to bottom, citizens nonchalance or foolishness, the fact that perpetrators do not get punish but get away free, greed of officers, psychological problems and undefined limits of their power are reasons why these actions strive. The paper extracted some basic proposition of the political participation theory as our theoretical framework of analysis. It employed secondary sources of data collections, which entails the use of materials from secondary sources. The method of analysis is descriptive, qualitative and prescriptive. The paper found out that the inability of government and her agencies to adopt preventive strategies that will focus more on promoting professionalism within the police and citizen friendly attitude are the root course of the challenges. We therefore recommend preventive and proactive approach as opposed to brutality, reactiveness, negligence and fire-brigade response to issues arising between the police and the citizenry.

In his historical novel Le Chevalier des Touches (1864), Jules Barbey d’Aurevilly paints a sombre picture of the former counterrevolutionary Chouan heroes of Normandy : over the first decades following the French Revolution, the aristocrats lose their ancestral castle and end up living in an anachronistic salon while slowly falling into collective oblivion. Therefore, this article argues that Barbey d’Aurevilly’s novel is concerned with a pressing memory crisis (in the sense of the term coined by Richard Terdiman) which manifests itself in the material sphere. For this purpose, the gradual decay of the nobles’ abodes will be analyzed, from the transformation of their castle to the asylum where the protagonist spends his last days. The examination of these intérieurs allows us to gain extensive insight into Barbey d’Aurevilly’s attachment to the Ancien Régime and his fundamental repudiation of the social changes occasioned by the political developments in 19th-century France.

Z powodów politycznych zaciera się prawda o diametralnie odmiennym charakterze zachodniego nacjonalizmu – przede wszystkim francuskiego i anglocentrycznego – z jednej strony, a niemieckiego z drugiej.
Scientific research leaves no doubt that criminal National Socialism is not an archetype of nationalism or a national doctrine. It is a common view that the nationalist ideology was born in revolutionary France and the United States of America. For political reasons, the truth about the diametrically different nature of Western nationalism – primarily French and Anglocentric – on the one hand, and German on the other, is blurred. In the era of the spread of globalist cosmopolitanism ideology, national ideas are treated as the greatest danger to the progress of humanity.

Opis:
It is an axiom to say that the language of the print media is a highly effective instrument of power, politics and propaganda. This paper illustrates the fact that language can be ‘powerful ’ in terms of style and lexicon, and of the attitude to reality it expresses, which is primarily related to ideology. The authors stress the role of the Russian language in the totalitarian propaganda of the period concerned. The 1917 Revolution and civil war in Russia marked the period of the greatest conflicts and a turmoil that was accompanied by an intense ‘linguistic experience and changes to the ‘status ’ ofthe language. Intheyears immediately following the Revolution the role of the official language, conveying the single official ideology was enormous and newspapers turned out to be an efficient instrument of propaganda. They provided the main channel of totalitarian ideology, efficiently influencing social consciousness. This paper is based on an analysis of texts published in three Kazakhstani newspapers: “Glos Semirechye” (1919), “Dzhetysuyskaya Pravda” (1923), “Turkiestan komunistytchna”, “True Semirechensk Region” (1920). It is demonstrated in the conclusions that the demagogic texts published there conveyed the ideology of a totalitarian system. One of the main messages conveyed in these texts concerned the image ofa new world shaped by such factors as the Revolution, contradictions between different social classes, external and internal threats, as well as threatening the victory of reactionary forces. This paper attempts to identify and characterise the manifestations of ideology propagated at the time of the proletarian revolution.

The paper examines the transition between Nicholas Maxwell’s philosophy of science, called Aim Oriented Empiricism (AOE), and the project of the revolution in the sciences and the arts advocated by him. The aim is to demonstrate that, contrary to what author seems to be convinced of, the former does not entail the latter. It is at the same time argued that the conception of science propounded by Maxwell has serious pragmatic consequences and marks out certain attitudes – AOE does indeed necessitate far-reaching institutional changes, yet these ought to be viewed as the results of rank-and-file initiatives and transformations as opposed to being construed as the upshot of attempted implementation of a philosophic design.

The article applies a comparative perspective to assess the onset of the two ‘successful’ eighteen-century revolutions – the American and the French. The Boston events of March 1770 are compared with those of Paris in July 1789: in both cases ‘the people’ faced the soldiers, riots and politically generated violence led to bloodshed, but the subsequent actions of the insurgents showed a marked difference in understanding the sense of justice and the ways of promoting revolutionary discourse. Boston patriots relied on the English-based system of common law, were ready to condemn their own radicals and did not wish plebeian justice to prevail. They hoped for a perestroika, not for a revolution. The French – finding no culprits to condemn, and having as of yet no legal institutions of their own to use – were willing to disregard the legal continuity of the state and to search for more radical solutions.

It is undoubtedly true that a number of British women turned their back on religion, from the beginning of the period of the cultural revolution of the 1960s and onwards. To what might we attribute these defections and the taking up of a new nonreligious identity?  Was it the change in sexual mores and the rise of second wave feminism, the increase in women entering higher education opening up new worldviews to them or increasing affluence? This article examines a variety of factors through the eyes of self-identified women atheists/humanists most of whom have lived through that period. It notes that, while these factors may well be significant to different degrees for different women, the turn to atheism, specifically, results largely from women having been damaged by religion and the deep emotional impact thus left behind. The turn to atheism is not a uniform experience as the women are enmeshed in differing types of ‘emotional regime’ which affects how they respond.

Since Ukraine’s independence, Poland has tried to support its pro-Western aspirations and the political and economic transformation. In the last time, however, we can observe a cooling of mutual relations, resulting primarily from discrepancies in the understanding of historical policy. Nevertheless, the reasons for this phenomenon may also be found in the events in Ukraine that took place in 2013- 2014 and which were later described as the Revolution of Dignity. The main aim of the article is to provide the answer to the question whether and to what extent the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine affected the mutual relations both in the political and social dimensions.

The article is capturing the political, economic, and social content that gave birth to the massive immigration from the island. The text presents the differences that can be perceived in the literary works of two generations of Cuban writers that, although they lived during the same time period, reacted differently to the phenomenon of the departure and exile. The article explores the nuances that the concept of “the departure” has on the stories of a group of young writers, named “Novísimos”. These writers suffered the worst years of the economic crisis, the “Special Period” during the nineties. This generation wrote about “escaping” as a reoccurring theme in their literature to show how it was to live with that environment and the disenchantment with a Revolution that didn’t give them more options than disruption with an unsuccessful project.

Although it was written in 1923, it wasn’t published until 1989, 52 years after the author’s death. He was arrested and then shot in 1937 in the time of terror. In Sliver, we can see the work of a checklist executioners, who mercilessly murders thousands of people, the victims of a totalitarian state. The article presents an attempt at an interpretation and analysis of Sliver, using the comparison of executioner’s and victim’s attitudes. The main character, Andrei Srubov, does his brutal work very thoroughly. However, everyday contact with his victim’s suffering and blood and the fear that arouses in him cause his madness. The executioner who has been killing class enemies of the Russian revolution becomes in the end its victim.

Opis:
The article examines the role of memoirs in depicting the cultural and religious life of Ukraine during the revolutionary years of 1917-1921. The analysis focuses on memoirs written by contemporaries and participants of the Ukrainian Revolution. Memoirists drew attention to the issues of Ukrainian language, literature, art, and education. They depicted the efforts of cultural figures in supporting and developing Ukrainian culture, changes in the cultural environment, and society’s reaction to these changes. The authors of memoirs discuss churches and religious organizations during the revolutionary period, describing the shifts in attitudes toward religion under the influence of political changes, the interaction between the church and political structures, and the persecution of priests and monks by the Bolsheviks. They share their thoughts on the impact of revolutionary events on their personal lives, perception of culture, and religion. The article analyzes the memoirists’ accounts of meetings, communication, and collaboration with other prominent cultural and religious figures, as well as the exchange of ideas, discussions, and joint projects that contributed to the development of cultural and religious life. It is revealed that the memoirs contain information about the state of societal culture and spirituality, including beliefs, customs, traditions, and moral values of that period. In the memoirs of many Ukrainian writers, artists, and other cultural figures, moments of Bolshevik presence are described as a time of creative alienation and pressure on artistic expression. With their rise to power, Ukrainian culture became dependent on the ideology and policies of the new regime, leading to a decline in artistic quality and loss of authenticity. These cultural figures also depict the challenging living and working conditions during the revolutionary period in their memoirs. Many of them were forced to leave Ukraine or go into hiding due to political persecution. This led to a decrease in activity on the Ukrainian cultural scene and a reduction in the number of book publications. Despite the difficult circumstances, Ukrainian cultural figures continued to create and preserve cultural heritage. Many of them actively engaged in collecting and preserving Ukrainian cultural heritage, which suffered significant losses during the revolution. A common tendency in the memoirs of contemporaries of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917-1921 is the personal perspective on events and their impacts on the culture and religion of Ukraine during the periods of the Central Rada, the Hetmanate of P. Skoropadsky, and the Directorate. They provide a historical context and offer readers a unique insight into that period, helping to better understand its significance and consequences for the cultural and religious development of Ukraine.

The article takes up for a closer scrutiny the concept of universal human history, i.e. of the Homo Sapiens, since the very beginning of the species around 70 thousand years ago. And already here surfaces the key characteristics of Y. N. Harari’s attempt to write a concise history – it is a history of an animal called Sapiens, ordered in the sequence of three major historical revolutions: cognitive, agricultural and scientific. The first one, 70 thousand years ago, sparked off our history and consisted in creating a language, the next enabled our rapid civilization development some 10 thousand years ago. And the last one has been in operation since about the year 1500. The author critically assesses human achievements, especially in terms of long-term interfering in natural and global processes and rejects any claims for human’s privileged position in nature.

Reviewed is a selection of works composed by woman artist composer and songstress Maria Sadowska. These include songs from the “Women's Day” record and from a film of the same title, as well as “Revolution” from the “Table of Contents” album. Due to the method of interpretation   I use, the criticism is feminist.  I selected precisely these said works for study mainly because the artist has been largely inspired by mothers of feminist thought, such as Susan Sontag, Barbara Kruger and Simone de Beauvoir.  The topics touched upon by the artist definitely fall within the interests of feminist criticism. And I hope that taking up the subject of feminism in this context is a timely response to current public interest.

The article clarifies definitional problems concerning the term of revolution. The authors claim that revolutions, however defined, possess national features that are clear and possible to grasp. The analysis of the problem was conducted on the basis of Polish and Czech traditions, as these two nations present completely different approaches to the issue of revolution. According to the authors, Czech conservatism and their lack of belief in revolutionary strategies compared with Polish tradition of independence spurts create new and cognitively interesting areas of research.

This paper explores the success story of the Cuban revolution of 1959. It documents the remote and immediate factors that instigated the revolution, particularly, the resentment against the corrupt, repressive and dictatorial rule of Fulgencio Batista; America’s neocolonial domination of Cuban economy and politics as well as; the lackluster economic growth of Cuba that benefitted foreigners but impoverished Cuban peasants. The paper further interrogate the factors that aided the success of the revolution and the many reforms introduced by Fidel Castro, the charismatic leader of the revolution, right from the first month of the new government; through which the revolution was consolidated initially, and has remained formidable since the past fifty-eight years, even in the midst of United States antagonism. The study employed the eclectic method of inquiry adopting mix of historical, descriptive and interpretative methods of data collection and analysis. The study relied heavily on secondary data sourced from journal articles, textbooks, newspapers and magazines and other relevant materials including theses, dissertations and government reports. Facts and information obtained were, however, subjected to corroboration and critical analysis to enhance objectivity.

Opis:
Just like after World War I Italy experienced a transition from modernism to fascism, after World II Poland experienced a passage from modernism to quasi-communism. The symbol of the first stage of the communist revolution in Poland right after the war, the so-called “gentle revolution,” was Pablo Picasso, whose work was popularized not so much because of its artistic value, but because of his membership in the communist party. The second, repressive stage of the continued came in 1949–1955, to return after the so-called thaw to Picasso and the exemplars of the École de Paris. However, the imagery of the revolution was associated only with the socialist realism connected to the USSR even though actually it was the adaptation of the École de Paris that best expressed the revolution’s victory. In the beginning, its moderate program, strongly emphasizing the national heritage as well as financial promises, made the cultural offer of the communist regime quite attractive not only for the left. Thus, the gentle revolution proved to be a Machiavellian move, disseminating power to centralize it later more effectively. On the other hand, the return to the Paris exemplars resulted in the aestheticization of radical and undemocratic changes. The received idea that the evil regime was visualized only by the ugly socialist realism is a disguise of the Polish dream of innocence and historical purity, while it was the war which gave way to the revolution, and right after the war artists not only played games with the regime, but gladly accepted social comfort guaranteed by authoritarianism. Neither artists, nor art historians started a discussion about the totalizing stain on modernity and the exclusion of the other. Even the folk art was instrumentalized by the state which manipulated folk artists to such an extent that they often lost their original skills. Horrified by the war atrocities and their consequences, art historians limited their activities to the most urgent local tasks, such as making inventories of artworks, reorganization of institutions, and reconstruction. Mass expropriation, a consequence of the revolution, was not perceived by museum personnel as a serious problem, since thanks to it museums acquired more and more exhibits, while architects and restorers could implement their boldest plans. The academic and social neutralization of expropriation favored the birth of a new human being, which was one of the goals of the revolution. Along the ethnic homogenization of society, focusing on Polish art meant getting used to monophony. No cultural opposition to the authoritarian ideas of modernity appeared – neither the École de Paris as a paradigm of the high art, nor the folklore manipulated by the state were able to come up with the ideas of the weak subject or counter-history. Despite the social revolution, the class distinction of ethnography and high art remained unchanged.

The paper depicts a topos of Russia-home in Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s novel cycle the ‘Red Wheel’. The author defines metaphoric pictures named as a home, an empty house, a house without an owner. The metaphors allows to indicate additional motifs connected with titular topos: a good host, a woman as a wife and mother and a fake host. The analyses show that Solzhenitsyn’s metaphors of Russia-home reflect writer’s conception of the revolutionary process in the history of Russia and his thoughts about citizen responsibility and patriotism.

The scientists from Zagreb and Belgrade, Tatjana Jukić, Predrag Brebanović, Danijela Lugarić and Branislav Oblučar, presented their contributions to debate around the above-mentioned themes. Literature as well as revolution were examined in the theoretical and historical context of the avant-garde. Public debate showed that these issues have been still sparking vivid interest in the academic, artistic and intellectual world. The round table was organized as part of the project Literary Revolutions established by the Croatian science foundation 2018-017020.

Filling the gaps in the research on the minorities of that period, the article discusses the Zoroastrian and Assyrian commu-nities from a comparative perspective. It covers the different situations of the mino-rities at the threshold of the Revolution, as well as the ways they participated in the Constitutional Movement. Comparing two different minority communities contributes to a deep understanding of the social changes taking place in Iran along with the accompanying tensions.

In the aftermath of the contested Romanian anti-communist revolution of December 1989, the National Salvation Front (NSF), led by Ion Iliescu, emerged as the country’s provisional government. Amidst increasing suspicions of the revolution having been a strategic coup d’état orches- trated by the neo-communist NSF, in June 1990, protesters gathered in Bucharest’s University Square demanding the removal of the NSF government. To maintain the narrative rationality of the story of an authentic revolution, and to thus legitimize his claim to power, Iliescu employed a set of rhetorical tactics meant to reaffirm his commitment to democracy and to antagonize the emergent sphere of civic activism, while simultaneously reigniting deeply-entrenched class struggles. Through his political discourse, Iliescu managed to shift public perceptions of democracy, legality, and moral purity, by reframing unconstitutional measures, employing the redemptive rhetoric of revolutionary heroism, and strategically using the familiarity of communist rhetoric to ensure the public’s continued allegiance.

Wawrzyniec z Březové is distinguished among observers and chroniclers of Hussitism, and his chronicles are the best source of information relating to the first phase of the Hussite revolution. Wawrzyniec writes of the years 1414–1421, but his main focus is on the years 1419–1421. He starts with the inauguration of giving communion in two kinds, which was a result of the work of Jakoubek ze Stříbra in 1414. The world of this penetrating observer and thinking man is not black and white. The inevitable companion of revolution – fear – is clear in the pages of Wawrzyniec’s account. Indeed, it accompanies all the phases of these tempestuous events.

Industrial Revolution 4.0

Opis:
Theoretical background: The transformation of marketing that has been taking place for the last 150 years involves the gradual change of its concept, strategy and operational activity models to meet the manifested challenges and the future development trends. The main factors that determine the evolutionary change in corporate marketing include the development of production technique and technology, organization and management processes, and the monetization of goods and services. Another factor includes changes in the environment of enterprises, primarily related to the processes of globalization and to the behaviour, tastes and preferences of consumers. Paradoxically, having affected almost the entire globalized world, the COVID-19 pandemic has become the catalyst for the processes of marketing transformation. The impact of these factors on marketing was the basis for distinguishing four stages in its development, i.e. Marketing 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0. This classification is parallel to the one related to industrial revolutions described as Industrial Revolution 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0.Purpose of the article: The identification of the main factors of the corporate marketing transformation and the assessment of their impact and effects on the changing ideas, tools and forms increasingly based on digitization and artificial intelligence.Research methods: the Author was motivated to undertake the research in question by the lack of systematic and comprehensive studies capturing the impact on marketing of the effects of industrial revolutions and the deriving changes in the corporate environment and the preferences and tastes of consumers, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic. The Author used the previous research findings included in various studies (periodical, thematic and online) and conducted their critical analysis and synthesis, and supplemented those with his own reflections. The result of the above was the formulation of a thesis about a close relationship between the development of the techniques and technology of manufacturing, changes in the macro environment of entities as well as the needs and tastes of consumers , and the COVID-19 pandemic and the evolution of marketing. Main conclusions: Over the last 150 years there have been revolutionary changes in the corporate marketing. The main drivers of change included four industrial revolutions, the transformation of the corporate environment as well as of consumer needs and preferences, and the COVID-19 pandemic. They resulted in the gradual development of marketing from the stage defined as Marketing 1.0 through 2.0, 3.0 to 4.0. This last stage is taking place today and is characterized by a plethora of innovative forms. It has been subject to further transformations together with the progress in the implementation of inventions related to the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

Zu seinen Befürwortern gehörten u.a. F. Guizot, G. P. de Barante, A. Thierry, J. Michelet, F. Arago und L. Courajod. Dagegen traten als Gegner u.a. A. Quatremčre de Quincy, F. Chateaubriand, L. P. Deseine und E. Viollet-le-Duc in Erscheinung.

Shakespeare’s travels into Persia started in the middle of the nineteenth century when modern socio-political forces and the need for a powerful army were fomenting important changes in the traditional structure of government, production, and culture alike. Shakespeare appeared in Persia at a time when the country was experiencing a fundamental transition from older traditions into a western-like government, infrastructure, education, and ideas. Shakespeare was important to this process in two ways. He was enlisted to enrich the cultural property of the country and therefore became ensconced in the educational system. Perhaps more importantly, his plays were used to critique the ruling political system and the prevailing habits of the people. Hamlet has always been a favorite play for the translators and the intellectuals because it starts with regicide and ends with murdering a monarch and replacing him with a just king. Othello, another favorite, was frequently retranslated partly because there were similar themes in Persian culture with which readers could easily connect. Thus, Shakespeare became a Persian Knight and moved from one historical era to another to function as a mirror to reflect the aspirations of the elite, if not those of the common folk. This paper traces Shakespeare’s steps in Persia chronologically, expounding the socio-political context in which Shakespeare and his plays operated not only within the context of academia, but also without in society amongst the people and the elites as political allegories to sidestep censorship and to attack the despotic monarchs and ruling power.

For centuries man rebelled against anything, only the Greek mind changed it. A lot of sociologist consider that inherent century should be called the revolution. The widespread success of the revolution is dependent on social mobilization and notice that it can give a chance to change the formal social position.

He was especially heavily influenced by various thinkers from the Qajar period, particularly Mirza Agha Khan Kermani. This paper aims to present some of these influences, focusing mostly on the impact of the above-mentioned intellectuals. This is achieved by comparing elements of Kasravi’s thought with those of the thinkers that had preceded him. At the same time, some attention is given to Kasravi’s argument that—as he differed from them in various aspects—one cannot consider these influences to be direct loans from previous intel-lectuals, which is an argument that cannot be ignored. As it seems, Kasravi created an original system, yet he borrowed many ideas from his predecessors. At the same time it may be difficult to pin-point the exact source of these influences.

With venture capital and entrepreneurs setting their sights on higher education as the next industry ripe for „disruption”, the revolutionary zeal being unleashed may have profound unintended consequences. In this article we argue for a more deliberate, evolutionary approach that seeks to involve higher education institutions as important participants in designing their own future.

This study aims to highlight the role of education in a democratic society in the political philosophy of Nicolas de Condorcet. Condorcet refuted legitimising political power on the idea of general will and postulated to replace it with the notion of reason and probability of truth. This assumption tightly linked the wellbeing of democracy with a public education system which, on the one hand, was to prepare citizens to take an active role in the public sphere, and on the other, allow them to improve the political system in which they function in accordance with the progress of the human spirit.

Opis:
Just like after World War I Italy experienced a transition from modernism to fascism, after World War II Poland experienced a passage from modernism to quasi-communism.

The aim of the article is to analyze the politics of the Serbian Kingdom towards the newly created situation in Ottoman Macedonia, caused by the Young Turks Revolution in 1908. The activities of the Serbian Chetnik organization in Ottoman Macedonia were discontinued as a special Serbian political organization was established. The organisation was mostly interested in the following agenda: regulating the status of the so called “Serbian people” in the Ottoman Empire; regular use of the national name “Serb” instead of the general term “Rum”; expansion of the patriarchies privileges to the “Serbs” in Ottoman Macedonia.

This article primarily aims to estimate the impact of the Armenian revolution and test the hypothesis, that is, the benefits of revolution and establishment of democracy can be seen even in the first year after the political change. To calculate the short-term net surplus of the revolution, we estimated the difference between the projection of Armenian economic activity for the four quarters after the revolution, using only pre-revolutionary (assuming there was no revolution) and real data for the same period after the revolution. Using deep neural network models, such as recurrent neural networks and convolutional neural networks (CNN), we compared prediction accuracy with structural econometrics, such as autoregressive integrated moving average and error correction model, using pre-revolutionary data (2000Q1–2018Q1) for Armenia and combinations of models using an ensembling mechanism. As a result, CNN overperformed the rest of the models. The CNN simulation on post-revolutionary data indicates that during the period 2018-Q2–2019-Q1, Armenia gained approximately 850 million EUR in terms of GDP, thanks to the revolution and the new government. Moreover, out of seven models, the five best models in terms of accuracy indicated that the revolution had no negative impact on the Armenian economy, as the actual values were within or above the 95% confidence interval of the prediction.

In the era of common access to freedom on the Internet, there are more and more controversies between advocates of complete freedom and followers of the idea of limiting the usage of the global network’s resources. Should the Internet become a space of unlimited freedom? Contrary to common belief, the answer to such a question is not that obvious, although intuitively one would like to say yes. The Internet is basically an egalitarian tool of communication, a space of easy creation and transfer of content, for which the only limit is technology and unlimited human imagination. Freedom seems to be not only an immanent, but even a constitutive feature of the virtual space in which the Internet functions.

The purpose of this article is to reflect on what freedom of speech in the web is. In the age of universal freedom of access to the Internet, controversy is growing between supporters of full freedom and supporters of legal restrictions on the use of global Internet resources. Should the Internet be the space of unlimited freedom? Surprisingly enough, the answer to this question is not obvious, although intuitively one would like to answer in the affirmative. By definition, the Internet is an egalitarian tool of communication, a space for free creation and flow of content, for which the only limit is technology and human imagination, whose boundaries cannot be determined. The global network is a field completely unregulated and not bound by any rules. This situation is slowly changing and legislators and courts are beginning to set the boundaries of online proceedings. People posting content on the Internet must do so with precaution so as not to violate the limits of freedom of speech, especially in the field of broadly understood public security, crime, morality, public order, other people’s personal rights, and confidential information.

W zakończeniu autor wskazuje kierunek potrzebnych zmian.
The article addresses the nature of offshoring, a phenomenon which names the migration of jobs, but not the people who perform them, from rich countries to the poor ones. Due to fast development of technology, information flow around the globe is getting cheaper and easier. Thus, the group of tradable goods and services is constantly growing. This change will become as meaningful in its consequences as two Industrial Revolutions. The development of offshoring will become a massive challenge bringing wrenching social changes. Moreover, rich countries will have to modify their systems of education or social security net in order to adjust. themselves to new reality, and they have not done much yet. The conclusion presents the possible directions of these changes.

Given this variety of sources, consisting of 12 accounts in 3 languages, written by different types of travellers with dissimilar social backgrounds, it is possible to demonstrate a variety of phenomena that may be associated with steamship voyages. The two main issues examined here are: 1) the coexistence of multiple mobilities in the era of steam power, 2) different experiences of time while voyaging.

Opis:
This essay examines the work of the Polish freedom fighters in the revolution in southwest German Baden in 1848/49 by identifying the personal connections between the uprisings in Baden and Poznań and identifying Prussia as a common enemy. In particular, the role of the Polish military officer Ludwik Mierosławski as general of the Baden troops is honoured. The goal is thus to determine the exact contribution of Polish fighters in the Baden Revolution and how they interacted with the Baden revolutionaries. Thus, the essay also sheds light on the help of Baden for the Polish fight for freedom in the form of so-called Polish associations. For this purpose, the essay presents the eyewitness accounts of the year 1849 from the perspective of Baden and Polish participants. Methodologically, the article extracts the specific events in Baden and Poznań from the general revolutionary history of the years 1848/49. Chronologically, the essay also looks back at prehistory up to 1815 and offers a look at the life of the revolutionaries after 1849. The events in Baden and Poznań are finally placed in a larger context, especially in the context of the European freedom movements, the international cooperation of the revolutionaries, and Polandʼs striving for independence.

Opis:
Purpose: The main aim of the study is the analysis of the awareness of competency needs in businesses in relation to the development of Industry 4.0 and the possibility of meeting those needs within business cooperation networks. Methodology: We formed a model of competency needs for companies operating as part of Industry 4.0 in Poland, considering the needs of managers and other staff members. The model was then employed in empirical studies. The pilot empirical study was conducted using two methods: a quantitative CAWI method, which covered 81 companies from the metal processing and machine industry in Podlaskie Voivodship, and a qualitative IDI on a sample of 25 organizations. Findings: Manufacturing companies are not fully aware of the competency needs related to Industry 4.0, covered by the established model. Moreover, we found that the most strongly felt competency needs – both by managers and other employees – may not be met within the business cooperation network. In order to satisfy these needs, partners must be found outside the studied network. The business cooperation network that we studied may only satisfy the less noticeable competency needs. Implications: The developed competency model should be studied and further verified, including testing with a larger sample of companies, specifying the behavioral competency gaps related to Industry 4.0, their filling in using formal education systems, lifelong education, internships, and apprenticeships. The need for further research is dictated by the intensity of processes occurring within the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Value: The pilot nature of the study and its limited sample do not undermine its contribution to the body of knowledge as it confirms that the competencies of managers and other staff members are one of the key determinants of successful implementation of the Industry 4.0 concept in Poland.

Friendship helps to rebel against tyranny but the overpowering rebellion hinders the maintenance of friendship – St. Thomas suggests. The solution is a difficult art of the self-limiting of revolution, inspired by the Christian love of a neighbour and Mao Tse-Tung’s cultural revolution (within limits, of course).

The article also touches upon the emancipatory role played by the factory – an attempt was made to answer the question: To what extent the commercialization of women’s work due to industrial revolutions allowed women to escape the shackles of patriarchy, and to what extent it contributed to their further entanglement in the network of dependency.

Recently, it has been claimed that Aristotle’s mechanics is a special case of Newton’s mechanics, adequate for speeds tending to zero (Grygiel 2020). I show in the article that this claim does not stand up to closer scrutiny. But there is a peculiar historical relationship between the two theories. Attempts to reconcile the tenets of Aristotelian mechanics with the results of everyday observations by Greek, Arabic, and Latin commentators led to the addition of the theory of impetus to this mechanics. The theory of impetus, in conjunction with the basic principles of Aristotle’s physics, led to conclusions that shattered the system’s coherence. In the seventeenth century, some of these conclusions were elevated to the rank of independent principles, and after being separated from their sources, they gave rise to the research program of Newtonian mechanics.

In this paper we analyze the nascent years of the Polish public sphere during the years before and after the 1905 Revolution. We assert that it was a moment of clash between, on the one hand, the intelligentsia and its de facto bourgeois vision of politics, and on the other a rising proletarian counter-public. The popular unrest initiated a massive upsurge of workers into the process of mass politics. As we argue, this situation shocked the elites, attached to their utopian vision of the Polish people, “enlightened” from above by the intelligentsia. Consequently, their reaction was ambivalent, if not reluctant. The intelligentsia’s attitude was growingly tainted with a conservative fear of the masses, which inhibited the development of plebeian constituencies and forms of political articulation. This posed a cornerstone for the future layering of the public sphere, leading to what we call its pathogenesis. It produced outcomes lasting for years, as well as a general contempt towards democratic demands resulting in the impossibility of collective bargaining about popular economic interests.

By describing the Paris Commune as an act of terrorism, Cyprian Norwid, in his correspondence, emphasizes his critical view of the Commune and mentions his own active resistance in persuading his compatriots, “to refuse to serve the terrorist Commune,” and declares his readiness to face the consequences of his words. The traumatic experience of those few months in 1871 also left its traces in Norwid’s critical and literary works. The present article is an attempt at tracing the vestiges of that experience in the author’s correspondence and in “Przyczynek do Rzeczy o wolności słowa” (1871), a key text in understanding Norwid’s view of the Commune. It is also an attempt to interpret Norwid’s explicitly negative reaction to that revolutionary effort, expressed immediately after an unequal fight and at the time of the bloody suppression of the Commune and the ongoing executions of thousands of its participants.

This paper aims to assess the current condition of the Egyptian banking sector, based on the past reforms of the 2000s. This analysis is based on data from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), data from the Egyptian banking sector and the literature review. The main finding is that despite many changes in the political and economic scene that drove the country into a crisis, the Egyptian banking sector was able to work well in the post-2008 period, achieving high growth rates. This study contributes to the academic literature on factors influencing financial development in emerging counties, based on the analysis of the Egyptian banking.

Rollo May’s phenomenology of love: a response to the twentieth-century cultural crisis: Love, belonging to the domain of affections, is considered in psychology along with motivation processes. The concept of will, which rarely appears in the discourse of empirical psychology, is also associated with motivation. The analysis of the phenomenon of love was one of the foundations of Sigmund Freud’s theory. In fact, Eros, entwined in the inseparable embrace of Thanatos, defined human personality along with him in psychoanalytic terms. The interaction of these two drives explained the process of directing the primary energy of life. Rollo May considered the concept of Freud as anti-voluntary, simultaneously formulating, in the spirit of existentialist thinking, an affirmative conception of will. The relationship of will and love, recognized by May, does not seem to be obvious from Freud’s psychology perspective. Identifying modern times as the times of alienation of love and domination of apathy, May proposed as a remedy for this crisis a specific dialectic of love and will. He distinguished the phenomenon of the will without love when the will inhibits love and love without a will when love undermines willpower. He perceived the proper relation of will and love as an important criterion for achieving maturity in all the basic aspects of life. In the article, I propose a critical reflection on the validity of May’s phenomenology and the placement of this theory in the context of the psychoanalytic tradition.

Opis:
A close relationship exists between the moral crisis within the Church that came about due to the sexual revolution and the collapse of moral theology that occurred at precisely the same time. Newer approaches to morality could not address the overwhelming crisis and, therefore, insufficiently responded to the demand for absolute freedom within the sphere of human sexuality; in other words, moral theology was defenseless in the face of the changes that took place after the sexual revolution. Inspired by the events of the past, moral theologians thus sought out models of moral theology that would prevent it from being “defenseless” in the face of the modern sociocultural changes that were taking place. As a result, moral theologians discovered that moral theology should closely connected with Revelation and, at the same time, be rooted in natural law; demonstrate the primacy of charity; be based on faith in God; maintain its ecclesial, normative, and social character; and reject cheap popularity and momentary applause.

The article explores industrial revolutions in chronological order. The article begins with explaining the concept of the industrial revolution. The opening section examines the first two industrial revolutions that caused great economic and social changes. The second section focuses on the third industrial revolution, which involves information technology, the development of means of transport, telecommunications and nuclear energy. The previews of Industry 4.0 and 5.0 appearing on the horizon are also briefly examined. The final part indicates that technological innovations are the engine of changes in the economy, but also affect the form of, among others, democracy and interpersonal relationships that shape new ways of communication. Special attention is given to the biggest changes that concern labour market: new technologies create great opportunities for educated and creative employees, while excluding those who are not able to adapt to the new requirements.

Opis:
The slogan of “social justice” was variously understood in history; it was the basis of changes – in the broad sense of the word – democratic, but it also turned out to be a propaganda “catch” and an introduction to tyranny. Plato was perhaps the first who pointed out that democracy – when the theme of “redistribution of goods” and egalitarianism comes to the forefront – spontaneously turns into tyranny. Aristotle, in his policy concept (politeia), tried to prevent it. I would like to consider (in a nutshell) how these concepts “worked in history” and are currently valid. Finally, I would like to present three models of “social justice”: hierarchical (ancient), based on an equal criterion (modern, liberal) and egalitarian (utopian, leveling), which is an ideology leading to centralized, arbitrary and even tyrannical power.

Total Islamization, which prevailed in Iranian culture at the beginning of the 1980s, brought about a change in the values of the Pahlav dynasty of 1921-1979. Openness to the idea of liberalism and modernization in the Western (American) spirit was replaced with a focus on Shia Islam. Dozens of books, articles and films were created about the Revolution in Iran of 1979. Among them is Persepolis (2007) – a French full-length animated film directed by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud, based on an autobiographical comic book of the same title by Satrapi. No other of the audiovisual feature films about revolutionary events had such publicity and became so popular in the Western world. Why did a cartoon, very subjective version of the history of 20th-century Iran, caused the events of the country isolated for four decades, to be identified with fanaticism and terror and have become close to many viewers around the world?

Opis:
The analysis of the political protest forms, the ability of citizens to self-organization in the struggle to defend constitutional rights and freedoms in Volyn during the active phase of the Euromaidan viability (November, 2013 – March, 2014) has been carried out. The start of the protest rally in Kyiv is related to the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of Azarov to stop the process of preparing for the signing of an association with the European Union by Ukraine, which was to be held at the summit of the leaders of the Eastern Partnership countries on November 29 in Vilnius. The response to this was the creation of Euromaidan. In Lutsk, EuroMaidan started its activity on November 22, 2013, along with the celebration of the ninth anniversary of the Orange Revolution. Members of the youth public organization «National Alliance» announced a permanent action in support of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. On Sunday, November 24, the demonstration of support of the European vector «Ukrainians for European Integration» was held. The first mass meeting, attended by about two thousand participants, mostly student youth, was held on November 26. On November 28, the activists of the Lutsk EuroMaydan, mainly the students, organized a picket of the Volyn Regional Council with the requirement to accept the appeal concerning the European integration aspirations of the Ukraine citizens and the resignation of the government. The massive protest movement in the region began actually after the students were beaten up by members of the «Berkut» units on the night of November 30, 2013 in Kyiv. On December 1, more than 10,000 volunteers gathered at the Lutsk Theater square, where they expressed indignation at the actions of the security forces and offered to launch a nationwide strike action aimed at eliminating of the power. An effective factor in the organization of people during the Revolution of Dignity was the effective use of modern digital technologies and communications, in particular the Internet. They had become a powerful tool for the development of horizontal social interactions, community mobilization and the self-organization of the territorial communities. The campaign aimed at boycotting of the trade marks belonging to the deputies of the Party of Regions had begun in social networks. On January 14, 2014, the Volyn Regional Branch of the All-Ukrainian Association «Maidan» was formed. Along with EuroMaidan Avtomaydan, which became a kind of mobile unit of EuroMaidan, was founded along with Euromaidan. On January 22, 2014, members of Automaidan did not allow the battalion of internal troops to leave Lutsk for Kyiv to help the security forces, with the following prolonged blockade of their barracks. A step delegitimize Yanukovych’s regime was the formation of the People’s Councils in the country’s highest legislative body and representative power bodies on the ground. A self-defense unit was founded In Lutsk on February 19, 2014 on the basis of the decision of the Volyn Regional People’s Council. The final mass meeting of EuroMaidan in Lutsk on February 23, 2011 was devoted to the public repentance of the Volyn Special Forces «Berkut» staff.

Opis:
Travel accounts do not only record the experience of a journey and present unfamiliar lands and people to armchair travelers but they tell just as much about the self-perception and identity of the travel writer. This paper examines a special form of travel writing by analyzing emigrant accounts written by Hungarian revolutionaries in North America after 1849. The travelogues unveil the attitude of Hungarians both towards the home country and the New World and address questions of identity, highlighting the position of emigrants caught between two spaces – still Hungarian but already becoming increasingly American. The paper focuses on two travel writers/emigrants, Károly László and János Xántus, who became American citizens but also visited and worked in Mexico and wrote about both places in books and newspaper articles before returning to Hungary years later. The study introduces the concept of triangulation in these accounts and discusses how the (national) identity of these writers became more complicated with time, and how this complexity was reflected in writing.

The journalistic discourse constructed in that way consistently creates political and social imaginary which confirms oppositions: nationally/internationally, individual/collective, tradition/modernity and Croat/Serb, where the author clearly states his preference. Although Matoš consistently promote Starčevićʼs heritage, liberalism and individualism, he does not simply convey a political message, but adds meaning to agitation, which boosts its suggestivness, but also causes that it becomes relative.
