The article focuses on indicating a set of competencies required for production branches based on the data regarding the Podlaskie labour market. The data was collected using quantitative surveys (in the form of questionnaires). Then, the Authors used network analysis to visualise the collected data and indicate the most frequently indicated set of competencies. Based on the opinion of respondents, the most popular competencies were professional knowledge and technical skills. These two competencies were also the most popular combination. Communication, self-reliance, thoroughness/reliability, sharing knowledge and experience, and teamwork/ collaboration also proved to be important. The entire set of the competencies is strongly linked, with professional knowledge and technical skills forming the foundation. Knowledge of foreign languages has also been identified as significant as well as decision making, which was, however, less frequently connected with the above. Despite the dominance of the two competencies attributed to the professional group, this group of competencies was the least numerous. Based on the example of the Podlaskie Region, the study informs about the set of competencies sought by manufacturing companies. Also, the most important competencies typical for individual branches are noted. This collection of competencies can serve as a basis for further theoretical considerations in the field of competency identification aimed at the production industry. In some cases, competencies indicated for different industries coincide, while in others they are divergent. The set of competencies indicated by the respondents informs job seekers in the area of production as well as institutions such as Voivodship Labour Office in Bialystok, whose task, among others, is to appropriately orientate the development of future employees.

Opis:
The monitoring of the environmental components condition, exposed to the influence of the cement production enterprises, was the aim of the conducted research. One of the largest cement production factories in Russia, where the territory of negative impact has a total area of over 300 square kilometers, was the object of the study. The observations of the dust content in atmospheric air, as well as the determination of degradation degree of vegetation in the area of influence of the considered production facility were conducted. Chemical and granulometric composition of the cement dust, which is emitted in atmospheric air, were identified in the laboratory. Mapping model, which indicates the complex ecological welfare of the territory, exposed to the cement production industry, was compiled by the authors on the basis of the data, obtained in conducted research. The mapping model takes into account both the content of dust in near-ground atmosphere, and the extent of its deposition to soil, vegetation and surface water bodies.

W artykule omówiona została rola ekoinnowacji w działalności przedsiębiorstw z branży produkcji materiałów budowlanych. Analizowana branża cechuje się wysoką dynamiką wzrostu, a także stosunkowo wysokim poziomem innowacyjności w odniesieniu do całego budownictwa. Z kolei ekoinnowacje stanowią szczególny rodzaj innowacji, który z perspektywy przedsiębiorstw będzie na przestrzeni najbliższych lat zyskiwał na znaczeniu, głównie z uwagi na zachodzące zmiany gospodarcze oraz nasilający się globalny kryzys środowiskowy. W efekcie celem autorskich badań ankietowych uczyniono próbę rozpoznania stopnia wykorzystania rozwiązań ekoinnowacyjnych wraz z postrzeganiem ich znaczenia oraz powiązań z innowacjami w działalności przedsiębiorstw funkcjonujących na polskim rynku materiałów budowlanych. Wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w 2022 roku częściowo wypełniły lukę badawczą w tym zakresie, gdyż umożliwiły wskazanie różnic w stosowaniu i postrzeganiu przez badane przedsiębiorstwa ekoinnowacji i innowacji, a także pozwoliły na określenie, które rodzaje ekoinnowacji są przez nie uznawane za najważniejsze. Finalnie niezbyt optymistyczny okazał się jednak fakt, że respondenci z badanych przedsiębiorstw nadal postrzegają ekoinnowacje – w odróżnieniu od innowacji – jako mniej znaczące dla ich działalności i przez to mniej skuteczne, mimo iż mają świadomość pojęcia ekoinnowacji.
The article discusses the role of eco-innovations in the activities of enterprises in the production of building materials. The analyzed industry is characterized by high growth dynamics, as well as a relatively high level of innovation comparing to the entire construction industry. In turn, eco-innovation is a special type of innovation, which from the perspective of enterprises will gain in importance over the coming years, mainly due to the ongoing economic changes and the coming years, mainly due to the ongoing economic changes and the intensifying global environmental crisis. As a result, the aim of the original survey research was to try to identify the degree of use of eco-innovative solutions along with the perception of their importance and links with innovations in the activities of enterprises operating on the Polish market of building materials. The results of the research conducted in 2022 partially filled the research gap in this area, as they made it possible to identify differences in the use and perception of eco-innovations and innovations by the surveyed enterprises, and also made it possible to determine which types of eco-innovations are considered by them to be the most important. In the end, however, it turned out not very optimistic, that the respondents from the surveyed enterprises still perceive innovations – as opposed to eco-innovations – as more significant for their activities and thus more effective, despite the fact, that they are aware of the concept of eco-innovations.

The control of the scale of production in mining industry, processing industry and energy sector, is usually implemented with the participation of surveying services defining the amount of the product deposited in the repositories or wastes deposited on waste heaps. The main indicator of the amount and balancing the production is the amount of the deposited resources or their change in time. At the moment the access to a wide range of measurement and calculating technologies, allows making accurate inventory measurements, preserving high accuracy of defining cubature parameter V. Due to geometric differentiation of this type of objects, the choice of measurement technologies and the influence of external factors on the results, as well as the way of data processing will have a decisive influence on the accuracy of determining V. Nowadays, more and more often, apart from applied so far inventory methods of repositories and waste heaps: photogrammetric and total stations, the technology of laser scanning are applied. In the article, the authors analysed the possibility of applying alternative satellite technology GPS-RTK in the inventory of repositories and waste heaps, in terms of the accuracy of the determined volume, focussed on a selected coal repository.

Gospodarka odpadami i opakowaniami to obszar, który musi być uwzględniony w procesie zarządzania każdym przedsiębiorstwem. Regulacje, które weszły w życie w 24 stycznia 2018 roku wymuszają na przedsiębiorstwach oprócz opracowania i wdrożenia procedur unieszkodliwiania odpadów, także konieczność prowadzenia pełnej ewidencji odpadów i opakowań w systemie teleinformatycznym oraz opracowania i wdrożenia systemu sprawozdawczości w tym obszarze, ponadto ustawa określa szczegółowe wymagania co do transportu odpadów. Niniejsze opracowanie ma na celu uporządkowanie dostępnej na ten temat wiedzy prawnej oraz zaprezentowanie autorskiego modelu, który może służyć za wzorzec systemu obiegu informacji o odpadach i opakowaniach, spełniającego wymagania nowej ustawy na przykładzie przedsiębiorstw e-commerce.
Waste and packaging management is an area that must be taken into account in the management of each company. Legal regulations force companies to develop and implement waste disposal procedures and the need to keep records of waste and packaging. This article aims to organize the knowledge available on this subject and present the original model of the information flow system on waste and packaging.

The aim of this paper is to construct a parametric method in a Bayesian framework to identify trading-day frequency for monthly data. The well-known visual spectral test (implemented, for example, in X-12-ARIMA) is a popular tool in the literature. In the article’s proposed method, the assumption concerning the almost periodicity of the mean function plays a central role. We use a set of frequencies that corresponds to the trading-day effect for monthly data. As an illustration, we examine this effect in production in industry in European economies for data adjusted by working days and for gross data.

Nadrzędnym celem polityki energetycznej jest zapewnienie bezpieczeństwa energetycznego Polski. Może być ono realizowane tylko poprzez wykorzystanie własnych, krajowych zasobów kopalin. Decyduje to o sile państwa oraz jego faktycznej suwerenności energetycznej. Polska posiada bardzo bogate zasoby węgla brunatnego. Pomimo tego faktu obecny projekt Polityki Energetycznej Polski do 2050 roku marginalizuje rolę tego surowca w krajowej elektroenergetyce w przyszłości. W pracy wskazano strategiczne determinanty rozwoju tej gałęzi przemysłu, których realizacja powinna odwrócić niekorzystne spojrzenie na to paliwo.
The main purpose of energy policy should be to ensure energy security in Poland. This can only be achieved by using our own domestic energy resources. It determines the strength of the country and its actual energy sovereignty. Poland has very rich resources of lignite. Despite this fact, the current draft of the Polish Energy Policy up until 2050 marginalizes the role of this energy source in the domestic power industry. The strategic determinants of the development of the lignite industry have been presented in this paper.

The automotive industry is characterized by a high degree of uncertainty. Companies are facing the challenge of producing different systems simultaneously. Additionally, the global quantity of electric vehicles is also expected to increase significantly. This results in the following capability to remain competitive: Effective and efficient adaptions of production systems to model variations and volume increases. While flexible production is identified as the most promising concept, defining the actual flexibility level of included production resources is essential for its proper realization. A literature review on existing flexibility assessment approaches revealed their emphasis on high-level enablers and limited practical applicability in the automotive industry. In contrast, focusing the assessment on single workstations supports the selection of appropriate production resources. Therefore, a simple and structured standard procedure for a production resource flexibility assessment was developed. This theoretical construct was subsequently complemented with practical insights through its application on two real-life case studies within one automotive engineering company. Summarizing and discussing the findings in combination with a conclusion completed this paper.

The article presents definitions of Lean Management. One of the methods of Lean idea, SMED, or Single-Minute Exchange of Die, is described in detail. The aim of this article is to present the implementation of the SMED method on the example of a PET bottle blowing machine and to show the benefits of using the SMED method in production. The influence of changeover times on the production process was analysed and evaluated according to selected measures of effectiveness of implemented measures. The work consists of six parts. The first part is an introduction, the second and third part is a description of the definitions of lean management and SMED. The fourth part of the article is the implementation of the SMED method, the fifth part is the analysis of rearmament of a PET bottle blow moulding machine. The last part of the paper are conclusions.

The globalization process and the marginalization of Europe in world production prompted the German economy to implement the Industry 4.0 concept called the fourth industrial revolution. As a part of the proposed concept, a close connection of physical objects with the information network should be made. Enterprises will connect by intelligent resources communicating through the modern Internet of Things technologies, big data, and cloud computing. Therefore modern enterprises have a new further challenge which means a need to build and cooperate within cyber-physical systems. The aim of the article is to present key challenges for Polish small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises oriented to the cooperation within the Industry 4.0 concept. Furthermore, the results of surveys conducted on a selected group of Polish production companies in the metal sector are shown. These results present the condition of Polish enterprises, their concerns and expectations regarding the implementation of the Industry 4.0 concept. The paper contains also the new idea to create the Cyber Industry Network (CIN) which means a kind of the on-line available platform for exchanging production capacity of small and medium enterprises and allows for the efficient combining of free resources to realize joint production projects.

As part of sustainable development is important to propagate and practice renewables. Therefore, the aim of the work was to proposed a tool to analyze the renewables in the context of their production volume and effectiveness in improving the natural environment. This tool was the AHP method (Analytic Hierarchy Process) which was integrated with numeral data about the production volume of electricity from renewables. It was shown that a proposed tool is useful to analyze the renewables and allows decided, which from renewables has the most influence on improving the natural environment. Therefore, the practice of the proposed tool supports the analysis, and undertaking adequate actions within the framework of sustainable development, in which enterprises producing and managing renewables.

Dynamically changing conditions of business activity, rapid development of new technologies, increasing intensity of competition, progressing globalisation pose for entrepreneurs new, much more difficult principles than before, especially due to the increase of intensity and complexity of the environment. It is reflected in the necessity of continuous improvement of processes and their quick reorganisation. The aim of the article is to present research conducted in metallurgical enterprise. In the article individual stages of heat treatment process, taking into consideration complications, errors and quality defects of the product arising at the stage of manufacturing the product were described. In order to minimize resulting defects, quality improvement system was implemented, using, among others Ishikawa diagram. In view of the fact that the world stands on the threshold of next industrial revolution, directions of improvement of heat treatment process in the context of Industry 4.0 were indicated.

The aim of the work was to analyse the external costs for agriculture and agri-food industry related to the possible launch of lignite deposits in Wielkopolska, that is, on the Ościsłowo, Dęby Szlacheckie and Oczkowice deposits. The duration of the mine’s impact on the environment includes the period of drainage of the deposit, its exploitation and the time necessary for the reconstruction of water relations around the open pit. The level of losses in agricultural production was estimated based on the production results achieved by agriculture threatened by the occurrence of external costs based on the Central Statistical Office (CSO) data. The studies adopted two variants of the impact of open pitches on agriculture, including: the area of the estimated depression hopper, that is, the area in which the water table lowered by at least one meter and the entire impact area of the outcrop. In total, the external costs in agricultural production and processing, which may arise as a result of the launch of extraction from the three analysed deposits, were estimated at PLN 7.7–32.3 bn, losses in non-produced agricultural production at PLN 31.8–113.0 bn, while when the value of lignite is PLN 83.7–111.6 bn. Such high costs mean that the opening of new lignite deposits in Wielkopolska raises economic doubts. This also applies to each deposit separately.

Thai Nguyen is a province with a long-standing industry, which has long been considered the "cradle" of Vietnam's metallurgical industry. The value of industrial production will reflect the development of the industry, which will assist the leaders in managing the development of industrial strategies, plans and plans for each period. The article deals with the assessment of production process capability in the serial production of plastic components. The plastic component was used for analysis. Component is used in the automotive industry in car suspension shock absorbers. Assessing the capability of the product's manufacturing process is very important. The aim of the present paper is to measure the dimensional characteristics of a thermoplastic product as a monitored quality feature. The analyzed product is manufactured in an eightfold injection mold by injection technology. The products from each injection mold cavity were considered separately. Process capability was assessed using capability indices. Process variability and centering were evaluated. Based on the analysis we can say that the production process is in excellent condition.

This paper presents the importance of the prediction of steel production in industry 4.0 along with forecasts for steel production in the world until 2022. In the last two decades, the virtual world has been increasingly entering production. Today’s manufacturing systems are becoming faster and more flexible – easily adaptable to new products. Steel is the basic structural material (base material) for many industrial sectors. Industries such as automotive, mechanical engineering, construction and transport use steel in their production processes. Prediction methods in cyber-physical production systems are gaining in importance. The task of prediction is to reduce risk in the decision-making process. In autonomous manufacturing systems in industry 4.0 the role of prediction is more active than passive. Forecasts have the following functions: warning, reaction, prevention, normative, etc. The growing number of customized solutions in industry 4.0 translates into new challenges in the production process. Manufacturers must respond to individual customer needs more quickly, be able to personalize products while reducing energy and resource costs (saving energy and resources can increase the product competitiveness). The modern market becomes increasingly unpredictable. Production prediction under such conditions should be carried out continuously, which is possible because there is more empirical data and access to data. Information from the ongoing monitoring of the company’s production is directly transferred to the prospective evaluation. In view of the contemporary reciprocal use of automation, data processing, data exchange and manufacturing techniques, there is greater access to external data, e.g. on production in different target markets and with global, international, national, regional coverage. Companies can forecast in real time, and the forecasts obtained give the possibility to quickly change their production. Industry 4.0 (from the business objective point of view) aims to provide companies with concrete economic benefits – primarily by reducing manufacturing costs, standardizing and stabilizing quality, increasing productivity. Industry 4.0 aims to create a given autonomous smart factory system in which machines, factory components and services communicate and cooperate with each other, producing a personalized product. The aim of this paper is to present new challenges in the production processes in relation to steel production, as well as to prepare and present forecasts of (quantitative) steel production of territorial, global and temporary range until 2022, taking into account the applied production technologies (BOF and EAF). For forecasting purposes, classic trend models and adaptive trend models were used. This methodology was used to build separate forecasts for: total steel production, BOF steel and EAF steel. Empirical data is world steel production in 2000-2017 (annual production volume in Mt).

The significance of this study is in the interpretation proposed by the authors of the definition of ‘sustainable development potential of an old industrial region’. The authors have identified and systematised the main components of the sustainable development potential of an old industrial region according to the main classification attributes such as finance, ecology, food security, sociocultural state, infrastructure, marketing of the region, and industrial production potential. The article has a theoretical character and is based on system-structural methods, comparative analysis, graphic method and logical generalization synthesis, induction and deduction, and dialectical and SWOT analysis. The features of the sustainable development of an old industrial region are the concentration of cities around large industrial agglomerations, environmental pollution, and the use of Industry 3.0 and Industry 2.0 obsolete technologies in industrial production. It has been proven that the complex problem of modernization in old industrial regions of Ukraine by transitioning to Industry 4.0 technologies requires necessary decisions to be taken at the level of state and local authorities, as well as the level of industrial owners.

In order to assess the challenges and needs of Austrian companies with respect to current business and technological developments, a regular well-researched compilation of empirical data of the Austrian manufacturing industry is necessary. Hence, a panel of 104 decisionmakers (owners, CEOs, managing directors and plant managers) from leading Austrian industrial companies was assembled in form of an “industry panel” to investigate current issues of production work in Austria by means of a survey. In order to allow for a longitudinal study, it is planned to survey the same group of people every year; hence the instrument of an annual panel-survey was chosen. To date the panel consists of 104 leaders from different Austrian or international companies with at least one factory location in Austria. The panel was assembled first in 2018/2019 and the administered survey contained 23 questions. The actual questions comprise topics that concern the current economic situation and future expectations, operational issues with respect to delivery time, product variability and demand fluctuations, as well as questions relating to innovation, automation and the application of current technological developments (i.e. assistance systems, machine learning, etc.) in manufacturing. This paper presents the survey results and conclusions of the 2019 panel on production work in Austria.

This research is dedicated to the characteristic of structural spatial shifts of the world manufacturing industry. These trends have conduced to the restructuring of the world economy and main shifts in the manufacturing locations both at regional and global levels. On the one hand, countries have got a great chance to develop and to become active players in the world economy. On the other hand, those that fell behind the scientific and technological revolution, which started in the second part of the 20th century, and did not do their best to create new high technologies (or just did not have such opportunities because of a low level of development, illiteracy or people poorness) turned out to be behind global leading economies. Structural shifts both in manufacturing location and in industrial composition occur very quickly in the recent decades. There have been shifts in the HT-industry composition. The shift to developing Asian countries is fixed and there are some reasons for that. That is why the theme chosen for this paper is not very researched and rather burning. Moreover, it has practical importance for Russia, which in the current financial crisis once again has faced a choice to define the strategy of its further development.

In 2020, the World Health Organization announced the global COVID-19 pandemic, which was followed by unprecedented constraints on society and the economy. The restrictions imposed had an impact on the transformation in industry and services sectors. The pandemic, however, affected particular industry sections and types of services to a different degree. Overall, the industry sector is assumed to have been less affected by the crisis, because the government restrictions did not embrace industrial production for the most part. Services faced a different situation; some of them were not provided due to top-down decisions. Therefore, the vulnerability of industry and services to such a strong external impact varies. The article aims to identify the degree and trends in changes in industry and services sectors during the COVID-19 pandemic and to determine the regularities stemming from a different degree of vulnerability of both sectors to such a powerful external stimulus. The study examines changes occurring in different industries and types of services (by the Polish Classification of Economic Activity/NACE 2.0) by way of statistical indicator analysis and using Statistics Poland and Eurostat data. The conducted analysis of the COVID-19 pandemic influence on the industry and services sector leads to the conclu- sions that its impact on the industry sector was very time-limited—a sharp fall in gross value added in industry oc- curred mainly in the second quarter of 2020. The pandemic had a modest effect on industry employment, primarily as a result of anti-crisis shields and the will to maintain the potential of labour resources. In the services sector, accommo- dation and food services suffered the most. The significant falls were noted in the transport section as well as cultural, sports and personal services. Business services which were transferred to the Internet and were provided online ended up the most resilient. The ultimate winner of the pandemic is ICT services, especially electronic ones, which have re- placed, wherever possible, traditional types of services.

For a long time, scientific and technical work has been focused on production management, which affects both the correctness of the process and the costs generated. One of the integral elements of the production process management is energy, which has an impact on the organization of work, operation of machines or production. Predicting the energy consumption of smart facilities is crucial for implementing energy-efficient management systems, the area of this problem is a key aspect of smart grids whereby loads must be planned in real time. One of the main tasks of intelligent systems is to optimize the energy demand and costs to maximize energy efficiency of the facility. According to forecasting requirements, the following article presents several approaches to prediction of energy consumption models for production engineering systems. The proposed models were adopted and analyzed in terms of their usability and were trained and validated with the use of real data collected from the electrical installation of some company using the APA IPOE system.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution, also known as Industry 4.0, is about connecting the physical world with the virtual world in real-time. With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, manufacturing companies are introducing a number of solutions that increase productivity and personalize finished products in line with the idea of Industry 4.0. The application of, among others, the following: 3D printing, the Internet of Things, Big Data, cyber-physical systems, computing clouds, robots (collaborating and mobile), Radio-frequency identification systems, and also quality control and reverse engineering systems, is becoming popular. There are still not enough studies and analyses connected with the Polish 3D printing market, and also attempt to determine the attitude of those studies and analyses to the implementation of the Industry 4.0 conception. In connection with what is stated above, the principal objective of this paper is to determine the directions of the 3D printing industry development. In this publication, it is as well the survey respondents’ opinions relevant to opportunities and threats connected with the implementation of the Industry 4.0 conception in an enterprise are presented. The survey was conducted on a group of 100 enterprises and scientific research institutes in Poland, offering and/or applying additive technologies.

Making a good production planning is a first step to produce products in effective and efficient ways. A good production planning needs information about the real conditions in the shop-floor. Without knowing the actual conditions in the shop-floor, it will be difficult to plan production well. In order to know the conditions of the shop-floor, a production monitoring system is needed. This paper deals with development of integrated product model for supporting production monitoring system on an automobile assembly industry. The integration of information between the production controls with the shop-floor is needed to build a production monitoring system. One way to integrate the two systems is by using a product model that is a representation of a real product. In general, the research method used in this research is the development of product models and other related models. The modelling concept used in this research is object oriented modelling. After that, this research also has developed a database in accordance with the developed models and interfaces used to manipulate them. The main proposed models in this research are the product type model and the product model. The product type model is the product model that represents the product designs. On the other hand, the product model is a model that represents the actual products. If the data on the product type model is relatively static, then the data on the product model is dynamic depending on the state of the real product. Each product model will have production sequence processes in accordance with the sequence processes of the represented product. Each time a process of real product is finished, and then the related process model in the product model will be updated. The condition of the processes that has occurred in the shop-floor will be known by manipulating data of the product models.

The paper presents the results of forecasts made for the volume of steel production in Poland based on actual data for the period from 2006 to 2021 with forecasting until 2026. The actual data used for the forecasts included annual steel production volumes in Poland (crude steel) in millions of tons. Basic adaptive methods were used to forecast the volume of steel production for the next five years. When selecting the methods, the course of the trend of the studied phenomenon was taken into account. In order to estimate the level of admissibility of the adopted forecasting methods, as well as to select the best forecasts, the errors of apparent forecasts (ex post) were calculated. Errors were calculated in the work: RMSE Root Mean Square Error being the square root of the mean square error of the ex-post forecasts yt for the period 2006-2021; as the mean value of the relative error of expired forecasts y*t (2006-2021) – this error informs about the part of the absolute error per unit of the real value of the variable yt. Optimization of the forecast values was based on the search for the minimum value of one of the above-mentioned errors, treated as an optimization criterion. In addition, the value of the point forecast (for 2022) obtained on the basis of the models used was compared with the steel production volume obtained for 3 quarters of 2022 in Poland with the forecast for the last quarter. Forecasting results obtained on the basis of the forecasting methods used, taking into account the permissible forecast errors, were considered as the basis for determining steel production scenarios for Poland until 2026. To determine the scenarios, forecast aggregation was used, and so the central forecasts were determined separately for decreasing trends and for increasing trends, based on the average values of the forecasts obtained for the period 2022-2026. The central forecasts were considered the baseline scenarios for steel production in Poland in 2022-2026 and the projected production volumes above the baseline forecasts with upward trends were considered an optimistic scenario, while the forecasted production volumes below the central scenario for downward trends were considered a pessimistic scenario for the Polish steel industry.

Introduction/background: This article presents the functioning of a production company in the construction chemicals industry. Based on the literature research, the following thesis was formulated: the use of tools to improve logistics processes significantly improves and increases the efficiency of production processes in the analysed enterprise. In the article, the following issues were indicated: analysing the course of logistics and production processes in the analysed enterprise, developing a map of the production implementation process and the products on Line retooling process, analysing the possibilities of implementing tools to improve logistics and production processes and developing recommendations for the enterprise. Aim of the paper: The main purpose of the study is to identify irregularities in the implementation of logistic processes in the examined enterprise and to propose improvement measures. Materials and methods: In the research part, the authors proposed Lean Production improvement tools (SMED, TPM) to optimize logistics processes and production. Results and conclusions: The work created by the authors is a research article that includes a full analysis of the production and logistics processes of a company from the construction industry. The paper presents irregularities occurring during logistics and production processes, and proposes improvements. The authors argue that it is important to introduce the proposed improvements to optimize logistics processes and production, and that they are possible to implement in other manufacturing companies.

Rynek mleka jest jednym z branżowych rynków rolnych funkcjonujących w Unii Europejskiej. Jest to rynek, który posiada bardzo bogatą regulację prawną. Podstawą jego funkcjonowania jest ograniczanie produkcji mleka w postaci kwoty mlecznej. Również w Polsce od 2001 roku oddziałuje nań szereg przepisów prawnych, których ewolucja została przedstawiona w artykule. Obecnie, tj. od dnia 1 maja 2004 roku, rodzimy rynek mleka jest poddany daleko idącemu interwencjonizmowi UE

Companies are increasingly implementing sustainable solutions as they face a growing sustainability demands from different stakeholders. The question is whether car manufacturers adhered to sustainable production principles and at what level they are doing it in practice. The Lowell Center for Sustainable Production (LCSP) is used as a model to analyse the main aspects of sustainable production and assess the companies in the automotive sector in European Union. The data was collected from the Corporate Social Responsibility/ Sustainability reports of the individual car manufacturers found in the online data base of Global Reporting Initiative. Empirical evidence shows the adherence of these companies to the LCSP sustainable production principles. All the studied companies seem to be conscious of the significance of sustainability for the automotive industry. Although most of the sustainable production practices are focused on the environmental dimension of sustainability, employee and social aspects are not ignored in the reports.

W publikacji przedstawiono statystykę rynku stalowego w Polsce. Struktura pracy składa się z dwóch części, z których pierwsza jest opisem sytuacji na rynku i zmian w wielkości produkcji stali i zatrudnieniu w latach 1990-2014, część druga to modelowanie prognostyczne wielkości produkcji i zatrudnienia do 2020 roku. Wykonana analiza może być podstawą do wyznaczania strategii działań przedsiębiorstw hutniczych.
The publication presents the statistics on steel market in Poland. The structure of the work consists of two parts, the first of which is a description of the steel market and changes in steel production and employment in the years 1990-2014, the second is a prognostic modeling of production and employment by 2020. The analysis can be the basis for strategic planning in metallurgical enterprises.

Celem artykułu jest analiza krytyczna funkcjonującego w polskich realiach pojęcia „przemysł offshore” oraz próba uporządkowania wiedzy dotyczącej stanu i możliwości jego rozwoju z geograficznego punktu widzenia. Obecnie pod pojęciem „offshore” kryją się działania o bardzo zróżnicowanym zakresie merytorycznym, organizacyjnym i czasowym oraz o często nieskoordynowanym, fragmentarycznym i doraźnym charakterze, z którego wynika wiele konsekwencji natury organizacyjnej, technologicznej, zarządczej, a ostatecznie także przestrzennej.
The aim of this article is to critically analyze the “offshore industry” term that is functioning in Polish realities and attempt to systematize knowledge regarding of state and possibilities of its development, from a geographical point of view. Recently, the term “offshore” covers a very diverse range of substantive, organizational and temporal activities with often uncoordinated, fragmented and ad hoc nature, which results in a number of consequences of organizational, technological, managerial and ultimately spatial nature.

The aim of the study was to characterize the changes in the way of obtaining food by man, showing the development of food industry and the specific nature of its actions, to define renewable raw materials base, to characterize the volume of production and purchasing basic agricultural products in 1990, 2000 and 2010, to show the changes in the sizes of concentration the production of basic agricultural products in 2002 and 2010 and to characterize changes in the forms of food industry supply of agricultural raw materials. The paper is based on the literature compact and continuous research and statistical information. The satisfaction of human needs has a long history, and food is among these needs in the first place. The invention of methods of food preservation formed the basis for the development of food industry. The food industry is an economic activity involving the processing of agricultural products into finished or semi-finished food products and fodder using industrial production methods. According to the European Classification of Activities it is Chapter 15, “Manufacture of food products and beverages” which includes nine groups (industries) of activities. The beginnings of the development on Polish lands date back to the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Previously, farmers and artisans dealt with the processing of agricultural raw materials. Today, the food industry produces approx. 20% of sold production of industry, employs approx. 14% of the staff and participates in approx. 10% of investment. It is subject to transformations in which the number of micro, small and medium-sized entities is reduced, and the number of large entities is increased. Similar changes occur in the number of employees: the value of the total production sold and from small, medium and large entities increases, and from micro-entities decreases. Agriculture is a source of renewable raw materials used for different purposes, while their use by food industry to produce food is at the forefront. Relatively stable demand for food products is accompanied by the variable supply of raw materials. In addition, these materials are characterized by a diverse durability. Therefore there is a need to develop various forms of cooperation between primary producers and processors to ensure their rhythmic delivery, because this ensures efficient processing. The various branches of the processing industry develop various forms of cooperation with the manufacturers of raw materials. There are spatial, organizational, technological and economic ties between processing units and primary producers. The production of raw materials is subject to fluctuation and concentration: the number of manufacturers of individual products is reduced and the scale of production is increased. All this is aimed at attracting more better quality and easier accessible resources to processors. In terms of supplying processing plants with raw materials, in principle there are three forms: free-market purchase, buying from regular suppliers (often contractual), and own production organized by plants.

Present work describes possibilities of recycling wastes from baking industry in production of bioethanol. It was presented that along with development of baking industry amounts of bread waste, of low value for reprocessing in food industry, is increasing. These wastes could be processed for production of ethanol fuel as a cheap alternative to traditional crop raw materials. Reasons of waste formation in bakeries, changes in flour ingredients during baking and its influence on mash composition are describe along with latest achievements in production of ethanol from residual bread.
W pracy przedstawiono możliwości wykorzystania odpadów z przemysłu piekarskiego do produkcji bioetanolu. Z dotychczasowych doniesień wynika, że wraz z rozwojem piekarstwa przemysłowego wzrosła ilość pieczywa o niskiej wartości stanowiącego produkt odpadowy, który nie może być wykorzystywany jako środek spożywczy. Odpady te mogą być tanią alternatywą dla tradycyjnych surowców zbożowych w procesie produkcji etanolu przeznaczonego na paliwo. W pracy opisano przyczyny powstawania odpadów w piekarniach, zmiany składników mąki podczas wypieku i ich wpływ na proces zacierania, a także najnowsze osiągnięcia w produkcji etanolu z pieczywa odpadowego.

The article describes a research project conducted by the authors in 2015 in one of the manufacturing companies of the automotive industry in Poland. Described manufacturing company engaged in the production of body frame of truck cargo space. The aim of the project was to improve the part of production process involving assembling walls in one production area. The article describes the project realization, starting from defining the problem, identifying measures to improve the organization of production process, then selecting analytical tools of the current situation and in brief selecting improvement tools that were implemented in manufacturing company. As a result of the research work identified measures have been improved as explained in the article.

Food economy plays a major role in world development. A food chain, from an economic point of view, means a long series of interdependent management processes, which have the main goal to providing food to people. It consists of many elements like food production, harvesting, processing, storage, and trade. Fruit processing in Poland is a significant part of the Polish economy. During fruit processing for consumption, by-products are also produced, the largest portion of which is pomace. As pomace is a part of fruit, it has big health beefits and application potential. Pomace could be successfully converted into edible products. At the moment fruit pomace is used as in food stock for animals, or thrown away, which can cause environmental pollution and minimises potential. Fruit pomace is a big potential source of energy biomass for the production of biogas and bioethanol. This paper reviews the literature on the possibility of using selected fruit pomace in industry.

The paper presents the results of research on the construction and evaluation of the forecast of the economic phenomenon in the future time period on the example of roundwood production in Poland. The process of building an econometric model as a linear function is illustrated in this paper. The trend function was verified and the convergence coefficient was calculated. The point and the interval forecast was constructed. On the basis of the results of studies the forecast accuracy was evaluated and a number of recommendations were presented. The recommendations regard the use of research results for decision-making and the needs of the material economy.

The author discusses a new method, rarely used in Poland so far − a method of mapping cultural industries and creative industries. The concept of mapping creative industries is founded on the Anglo-Saxon ground and goes beyond the usual plotting of the maps. This method enables countries, regions and cities to estimate the value of the creative sectors. It is based on determining a set of analytical methods for collecting and presenting information on the scale and the scope of the creative industries. In mapping, both quantitative and qualitative methods are used, as well as such sources of knowledge, as literature review, analysis of official government data, research on specific sectors, analysis of data from non-governmental sources, analysis of the industry informants and case studies. Mapping can be a valuable tool in lobbying the creative class, but its main purpose is to deepen the knowledge about this sector of the economy, which is still not sufficiently analyzed. The author considers and analyses not only mapping as a way to describe the dynamic sectors of culture, but also the very definition of mapping the creative sector, outlining the opinion and comments of Krzysztof Stachowiak, a researcher of problems of concentration of cultural industries. What serves as a frame of the article, is the description of the film industry growing currently in Gdynia and the ways in which this mini-industry can bedescribed using the principles of mapping creative industries.

This paper has as its goals the presentation and evaluation of the changes in Poland's industry during the economic transformation. After having listed the main characteristics of the industry in the period before 1989, the author points out the changing role of the industry in the national economy as well as changes in ownership and quantity. An evaluation of the changes in employment in industry, the value and structure of fixed assets, capital expenditures (incl. the role of direct foreign investments) as well as of the dynamics and structure of the industrial production has been made. Processes of restructuring of indusstry and spatial changes in the industry deployment are another topic discussed in the paper.

This paper analyzes the final agricultural output value, the foodstuffs consumption value, and the price relations of primary agricultural products and food in Poland and Germany in 1960-2001. The share of the final agricultural output value in the foodstuffs consumption value has decreased in both countries. Although it is lower in Germany, the rate of its decrease is greater in Poland. In Poland and Germany the differences in prices between primary agricultural products and food have been increasing. At the same time the margin of profit for processing and trade has been growing in both countries.
Celem artykułu jest określenie udziału przetwórstwa i obrotu w cenie produktu finalnego na podstawie prezentacji trendów zmian wartości spożycia żywności, wartości produkcji rolniczej oraz relacji cenowych artykułów spożywczych do cen surowców w Polsce i w Niemczech. Różnica pomiędzy wartością końcowej produkcji rolniczej oraz wartością spożycia żywności wzrasta w obu krajach. W Niemczech udział wartości końcowej produkcji rolniczej w wartości spożycia żywności jest mniejszy niż w Polsce, jednak w Polsce udział ten spada szybciej. W Niemczech w całym badanym okresie oraz w Polsce od 1990 roku w przypadku większości analizowanych produktów zauważa się wzrastające różnice pomiędzy cenami produktów spożywczych a cenami surowców rolniczych. Malejący udział wartości produkcji rolniczej w wartości spożycia żywności oraz wzrastające różnice cen produktów spożywczych i ich surowców są wynikiem coraz bardziej rozwiniętej sieci marketingowej produktów spożywczych.

The realization of digitalization in production companies – currently also referred to as Industry 4.0 – aims for reduction of internal value creation costs as well as costs for intercompany collaboration and plays a key role in their current strategy development. However, related strategy research still lacks to provide operationalized digitalization methods and tools to practitioners with scientific rigor as well as real-world relevance. To challenge this status quo, we present a scientifically grounded 14-step procedure model including 11 practically tested tools, developed specifically for real-world application. The model leads practitioners from their first contact with industrial digitalization, through the maturity assessment of 143 digitalization items, until the implementation of a KPI-monitoring system and a continuous improvement process. We applied and re-worked the procedure model during three years of application. Validation and Feedback from practitioners and scholars indicate, that the model drives strategy development towards objective and data-based decision making and increases stakeholder engagement in organizations considerably.

The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting the development of production of pulses to be used as commodities or feeds on farms in Wielskopolska. The survey was conducted on 184 farms in 2012, where farmers were interviewed with a questionnaire. There was a minimal share of pulses in the crop structure on the farms under study. Low cost-effectiveness of production and yield instability were some of the reasons why the respondents did not start the production of pulses. Another important reason was the absence of the market to sell such products.
Celem opracowania było określenie czynników wpływających na rozwój produkcji roślin strączkowych przeznaczanych na cele towarowe lub paszowe w gospodarstwach rolnych w województwie wielkopolskim. Badania przeprowadzono w 2012 roku w 184 gospodarstwach, wykorzystując metodę wywiadu osobistego przy użyciu opracowanego kwestionariusza ankiety. Udział roślin strączkowych w strukturze zasiewów analizowanych gospodarstw był niewielki, średnia powierzchnia zasiewów wynosiła 5,7 ha. Wśród powodów niepodejmowania tego rodzaju produkcji ankietowani wymienili niską opłacalność produkcji oraz niestabilność plonów. Ważnym powodem był także brak rynku zbytu.

The paper aimed to analyze the production capacity and financial results of a company called JSC “Samarqanddonmahsulotlari”, which operates as a major enterprise in the grain industry in Uzbekistan. It has been argued that the company’s production capacity is not used at full range, thus limiting company profitability. Development can be achieved by securing raw material supplies and ensuring the proper distribution of products in a demand driven market.
Zaprezentowano analizę możliwości produkcyjnych i wyników finansowych spółki UAB „Samarqanddonmahsulotlari”, która działa jako jedno z największych przedsiębiorstw w branży zbożowej w Uzbekistanie. Wykazano, iż jej zdolności produkcyjne nie są wykorzystane w pełnym zakresie, co negatywnie wpływa na sytuację finansową firmy. Stwarza to jednak dobre podstawy do dalszego rozwoju, który można osiągnąć przez zapewnienie dostaw odpowiedniej ilości surowców oraz zapewnienie właściwej dystrybucji produktów na rynku regulowanym przez popyt.

W podsumowaniu zwrócono uwagę na problem związany z koniunkturą w przemyśle górniczym i kierunkami działań podjętych przez Kierownictwo Zakładu, w celu zapewnienia wykorzystania istniejącej kadry oraz parku maszynowego.
The article presents a basic assortment, which is produced in Zakłady Mechaniczne GLIMAG S.A. in Gliwice. The history of the Department has been presented, from the moment of their creation to today. Briefly presents the basic products of the Department, together with their technical parameters. In the summary, attention was paid to the problem related to the economic situation in the mining industry and the directions of actions taken by the Plant's management in order to ensure the use of existing staff and machine park.
