    The paper presents a study performed in two universities in Poland and Romania. It aimed to identify learners’ needs and difficulties when learning ESP, and also what common needs students in the two universities have, in spite of the fact that they study different branches of ESP–English for Economics and Medical English, respectively. For this purpose, we designed a questionnaire containing 14 open and closed questions. The participants in the study were 100 students at the Koszalin University of Technology in Poland and 100 students from the “Iuliu Hatieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The results of the study showed that, in spite of their different fields of training, there were many similarities between the responses of the students, but also certain differences that derived mostly from the different background and specific language needs of learners. Therefore, we may conclude that university students who study sciences, in particular Business and Medicine, might have certain similar needs when learning Professional English.     The topicality of the issue is explained by a discrepancy between the current English for Special Purposes (ESP) curriculum and students’ wishes and demands of the labour market. In order to create an up-to-date ESP curriculum that would suit students, employers and customers’ wishes, the following research methods were used: analysis of theoretical literature and sources, empirical study (students’ interviews, students’ questioning, lecturers’ interviews, employers’ questioning) and qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods. The conducted needs analysis allows creating a modern curriculum based on theory and practice – seting its goal and tasks, choosing the most appropriate syllabi types, selecting teaching methods that correspond to students’ learning styles and satisfying students’ wishes and the requirements of the industry.

    Compared to colleagues teaching foreign languages for general purposes, who can use ready-made syllabuses or programs, the LSP teacher has to reflect on methodology at the level of course planning. The scope and nature of the proposed course content is tailored to the specific needs of a student. The analysis of these needs is based on interviews and questionnaires. There are many examples of such tools, but none of them are universal or exhaustive, nor can they be. The purpose of this article is to propose a set of parameters to facilitate investigation of the educational context, which could be a starting point for the development of questionnaires tailored to specific education needs.

    Aim. The aim of this article was to analyse relevant literature as well as financial services sector professionals’ expectations on future sustainability competence needs among vocational business graduates as part of an ideation process to design an open online course within the project “Sustainability in Finance – SuFi” (2020-2022). Methods. The online mixed-method survey was elaborated using Google Forms and Webropol and distributed via email among finance services industry professionals in Finland, Latvia, Estonia, and Aland Islands. In total, 221 responses were obtained. The qualitative and quantitative data analysis was performed using NVivo and SPSS. Results. Qualitative data analysis revealed that the conceptual knowledge of business graduates was the most frequently mentioned category, followed by procedural knowledge. Among the key competencies in sustainability, the most necessary was intra-personal competence, followed by inter-personal competence. Quantitative data analysis revealed that the top three sustainable finance competencies in demand within respondents’ organisations were: to understand relevant driving sustainable forces, to think and operate with a long-term perspective, and to communicate sustainable financial information in a meaningful way. Conclusion. In the Baltic Region’s finance sector, there is a need for a more holistic view for understanding the market as part of society as a whole and also the meaning of understanding long-term horizons. The competencies that financial services sector professionals found important for vocational business graduates in future work were used as an input for elaborating vocational business education study courses.

    This article aims to examine and make recommendations to the initial assessment procedures in Adult Education context in the United Kingdom. Teachers and learners are constantly making opinions about their development, and formative assessment is one of the tools used to recognise it. In Adult Education, in addition to formative assessment, learners are expected to undergo initial assessment, testing their level of knowledge/abilities in Language, Literacy or Numeracy. Within the Adult Education context, there are several initial assessment methods available. However, it is the providers who decide which methods are most appropriate for their learners, as different methods may be appropriate in different areas. This research project focuses on an Adult Education provider based in the Midlands, United Kingdom, and offers findings that test and sometimes refute the current theory about initial assessment. Two research methods were employed to achieve the aim and objectives. Firstly, secondary data was researched. Secondly, the qualitative primary data was collected using in-depth focus groups. The research included both practitioners and learners who either conducted or experienced needs analysis processes in the adult learning context. The findings and recommendations of this article propose the use of a more ethical and reliable way of conducting initial assessment in the Adult and Community Learning context.

    This paper introduces a systematic literature review as a tool for both training (TNA) and learning (LNA) needs analyses. Additionally, given the systematic approach it presents findings on core skills in ICT industries obtained using both academic and grey literature analyses applied few and far between by scholars. In particular, the aim of the paper is to show systematic literature review as valuable not only in an academic field (namely for scientists, scholars, and researchers) but also for practitioners. Therefore, it is claimed to be useful for companies interested in employees’ development and training as well as for educational institutions interested in tailoring of their training programs and educational offer to business requirements and students’ needs.
    Artykuł przedstawia systematyczny przegląd literatury jako wartościowe narzędzie identyfikacji potrzeb szkoleniowych (Training Needs Analysis) oraz analizy potrzeb edukacyjnych (Learning Needs Analysis). Dodatkowo, wykorzystując podejście systematyczne, artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań dotyczących kluczowych umiejętności w sektorach teleinformatycznych (ICT), przeprowadzonych nie tylko na podstawie analizy literatury akademickiej, ale także literatury szarej, która jest rzadko stosowana przez badaczy w ogóle, natomiast w Polsce dotychczas była wykorzystywana niezwykle rzadko. Celem artykułu jest w szczególności przedstawienie systematycznego przeglądu literatury jako użytecznego narzędzia analitycznego znajdującego zastosowanie nie tylko w obszarze akademickim (badacze, naukowcy), ale również w praktyce gospodarczej. W opracowaniu przyjęto, iż rzeczone narzędzie znajduje uzasadnione zastosowanie w przedsiębiorstwach ukierunkowanych na rozwój i szkolenie pracowników, jak również w instytucjach edukacyjnych zorientowanych na opracowanie oraz dostosowanie programów szkoleniowych i oferty edukacyjnej do aktualnych potrzeb czy wymagań praktyki gospodarczej.

    The paper tackles the issue of law-related cinematic and television productions, metaphorically described as reel justice, in the context of teaching Legal English as a foreign language. In the light of current trends in ESP and film pedagogy, an integrated skills teaching approach is presented that attempts to invoke subject-specific, intercultural and language knowledge of Polish learners of Legal English. The core of the paper focuses on different film-based tasks, exploiting the American series Boston Legal as a didactic material. The paper concludes with recommendations for further research.

    This study investigates how the effectiveness of training process, and its phases, contributes in enhancing the employee efficiency in the social service environment. Selfevaluation questionnaires with the five-point Likert scale were carried out to get primary data. Employee efficiency was measured as the self-perception of the acquired level of qualifications before and after participating in the trainings. Respondents assessed also whether the activities related to the training phases were delivered in the organisational context. The correlation coefficient was used to ascertain the relation between each training phase and employee efficiency. The study results illustrate positive correlation between variables, such as training needs analysis, training transfer and employee efficiency. In this article training needs analysis phase will be evaluated. These findings are significant to design training programs as a part of the continuing professional development which are essential in achieving employee efficiency, and lead to the benefits to the organization.
    W artykule przedstawiono, w jaki sposób skuteczność analizy potrzeb szkoleniowych przyczynia się do poprawy sprawności pracowników w środowisku usług socjalnych. W celu uzyskania danych pierwotnych przeprowadzono ankietę samooceny z pięciopunktową skalą Likerta. Sprawność pracowników mierzono jako samopostrzeganie nabytego poziomu kwalifikacji przed i po uczestnictwie w szkoleniach. Respondenci oceniali także, czy działania związane z pozostałymi fazami szkolenia przeprowadzono w kontekście organizacyjnym. Do ustalenia relacji pomiędzy fazami szkolenia a sprawnością pracowników zastosowano współczynnik korelacji. Wyniki badania wskazują na dodatnią korelację między zmiennymi, takimi jak analiza potrzeb szkoleniowych, transfer szkoleń i sprawność pracowników. Niniejszy artykuł koncentruje uwagę na ocenie skuteczności analizy potrzeb szkoleniowych. Wnioski z badań mają kluczowe znaczenie dla projektowania programów szkoleniowych, które są niezbędne do osiągnięcia sprawności pracowników i całej organizacji.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie wyników dwóch ankiet przeprowadzonych wśród trzydziestu ośmiu uczestników kursu polskiego języka medycznego dla osób z Białorusi, Rosji i Ukrainy. Pierwsze badanie ankietowe (przeprowadzone przed rozpoczęciem kursu) obejmowało następujące zagadnienia: (1) samoocenę znajomości języka polskiego ogólnego, a także specjalistycznego (medycznego), (2) oczekiwania uczestników wobec dwudziestogodzinnego kursu, w którym mieli wziąć udział, (3) świadomość językową na temat konieczności rozwijania czterech sprawności językowych na zajęciach z języka specjalistycznego. Druga ankieta obejmowała przede wszystkim ocenę efektywności zajęć oraz własnych postępów w nauce języka polskiego do celów zawodowych. Badania miały charakter diagostyczno-opisowy i zasygnalizowane w niniejszym artykule spostrzeżenia dały asumpt do szerszych rozważań na temat obecnego stanu badań nad opisem sprawności receptywnych i produktywnych w nauczaniu języka polskiego jako obcego dla celów specjalistycznych.
    The aim of this paper is to present the results of two questionnaires conducted among thirty-eight participants of a language course in medical Polish for people from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. The first survey (conducted before the course started) covered the following issues: (1) the participants' self-assessment of their knowledge of general as well as specialised (medical) Polish, (2) their expectations of the twenty-hour course they were to attend, (3) their linguistic awareness of the need to develop the four linguistic skills in specialised language classes. The second questionnaire focused on the evaluation of the effectiveness of the classes and participants’ own progress in learning Polish for professional purposes. The research was of a diagnostic and descriptive nature, and the findings signalled in this paper have given rise to broader reflections on the current state of research on the description of receptive and productive skills in teaching Polish as a foreign language for specific purposes.

    In the article we argue for a reconstructive and subject-oriented approach to data collection and analysis in order to reconstruct perspectives of pupils with linguistically and spatially discontinuous school biographies as a basis for needs analysis. The paper takes an in-depth look at a narrative interview with such a pupil using the Documentary Method. Based on the analysed interview passage and with recourse to the praxeologically extended sociocultural theories of SLA, we derive initial implications for schools with pupils with migratory experiences. One crucial assumption is that, in order to create better educational opportunities for children with migratory experiences, school staff need to systematically develop contingency competence. By contingency competence we mean the sensitivity and awareness of the principal openness of human life forms and their diverse possibilities for linguistic, material, and practical expression. Conclusions are drawn on what the required competencies contain and how an inclusive school can be created.

    This article presents a study that seeks to explore the dynamics of needs experienced by a group of in-service primary school teachers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) who are enrolled in a course in English phonetics at a regional university in Norway. The course in English phonetics is designed for the group of EFL teachers (further – participants) who combine working full-time with taking in-service EFL courses. The aim of the study is to explore how the dynamics of the participants’ needs change within the time frame of two semesters. The study is based upon theoretical premises of needs analysis (further – NA) formulated by Hyland (2006), who regards EFL learners’ needs as a continuous process that changes over time. The results of NA indicate that whereas initially the participants explicitly express the need for obtaining tertiary-level education in English to be able to teach English at primary school, their needs change towards the end of the course to involve the focus on becoming role models in an EFL classroom, paying attention to speech fluency, intonation, and conducting English-only EFL classes. These findings will be further discussed in the article.
    Dieser Artikel stellt eine Studie zur Dynamik der Bedürfnisse von berufstätigen Lehrenden für Englisch als Fremdsprache (EFL) in der Grundschule vor, die an einem Kurs zur englischen Phonetik an einer regionalen Universität in Norwegen teilnehmen. Der Kurs richtet sich an Englischlehrende (im Weiteren als „Teilnehmer“ bezeichnet), die ihren Vollzeitunterricht mit der Beteiligung an Kursen für Englisch als Fremdsprache verbinden. Ziel der Untersuchung ist es herauszufinden, wie sich die Dynamik der Bedürfnisse der Teilnehmer über einen Zeitraum von zwei Semestern ändert. Die Forschung basiert auf den theoretischen Prämissen der Bedarfsanalyse (NA) von Hyland (2006), der die Bedürfnisse von Fremdsprachenlernenden als einen kontinuierlichen Prozess betrachtet, der sich im Laufe der Zeit ändert. Die Ergebnisse der Bedarfsanalyse verweisen darauf, dass die Teilnehmer am Anfang ein starkes Bedürfnis nach Abschluss des Sprachunterrichts auf einem höheren Niveau zum Ausdruck bringen, um eine Fremdsprache an der Grundschule zu unterrichten. Diese Einstellung entwickelt sich jedoch gegen Ende des Kurses dahingehend, dass der Rolle des Lehrers, der als nachzuahmendes Vorbild für Lernenden im Bereich der Geläufigkeit, der Intonation und des Unterrichtens nur in der Fremdsprache fungiert, mehr Gewicht beigemessen wird. Diese Beobachtungen bilden eine Basis für weitere Überlegungen in dieser Arbeit.

    The paper reports on a survey into the linguistic needs of law professionals in four European countries, with the aim of identifying their views on the importance and their use of foreign language skills as well as their preferences for ELP course content. The data, obtained from a questionnaire survey of 536 legal professionals from Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia and Germany, show that while the respondents agree on many of the major points, there are also some differences conditioned by the respondents’ age and the specific tasks they perform in the legal profession. The article argues that these variables have to be taken into consideration in the LSP context because they determine some of the specific needs that need to be addressed in Legal English instruction. It is suggested that the findings about the lawyers’ self-perceived importance and preferred styles of learning are highly relevant for LSP practitioners, particularly when designing Legal English programmes and testing materials.
    Artykuł stanowi badanie potrzeb lingwistycznych osób wykonujących zawody prawnicze w krajach europejskich, w celu określenia ich poglądów co do ważności i użytkowania przez nich języków obcych oraz pod kątem treści kursów prawniczego języka angielskiego. Analizowane w artykule dane pochodzą z ankiety wypełnionej przez 536 prawników w Polsce, Czechach, Chorwacji i Niemczech. Wskazują one, że respondenci są zgodni w zakresie głównych kwestii, jednakoż istnieją wśród nich pewne różnice poglądowe, które zależą od ich wieku oraz określonych aktywności realizowanych w danym zawodzie prawniczym. W artykule podjęto polemikę nad faktem, iż takie różnice winny być uwzględnione w zakresie nauczania języków specjalistycznych, ponieważ identyfikują określone potrzeby i z tego względu należy je brać pod uwagę w nauczaniu prawniczego języka angielskiego. Autorki sugerują, że wskazania indywidualnej oceny roli języków obcych i preferowanego stylu uczenia się powinny być aplikowane podczas opracowywania programów nauczania i oceny języka specjalistycznego, a szczególnie języka prawniczego angielskiego, kierowanego do prawników.

    Opis:
    Professional development should be an inseparable part of a teacher’s professional career. Although it is the teacher’s sole responsibility, the action he/she undertakes greatly influences learners’ success. The goal of the paper is to investigate in-service English language teachers’ professional development practices, as well as delve into their needs and expectations in this area. The data were collected through a semi-structured questionnaire. The results show that teachers are aware of the lifelong nature of professional development and undertake various activities to improve the quality of teaching, such as workshops or reading didactic literature. However, their attitudes, practices and needs differ and are contingent on their education level, experience and workplace.
    Rozwój zawodowy powinien być nieodłączną częścią pracy nauczyciela. Mimo, że nauczyciel jest w nim jedyną jednostką podejmującą się zadań doskonalących jego umiejętności, jego decyzje mają bezpośredni wpływ na postępy uczniów. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przyjrzenie się rozwojowi zawodowemu nauczycieli języka Angielskiego oraz zbadanie ich potrzeb i oczekiwań w tym zakresie. Dane zostały zgromadzone za pomocą częściowo ustrukturalizowanego kwestionariusza. Badania wykazały, że nauczyciele są świadomi, że rozwój zawodowy jest procesem trwającym przez cały okres kariery zawodowej. Nauczyciele podejmują się różnych form rozwoju wpływających na poprawę nauczania, takich jak warsztaty lub czytanie literatury dydaktycznej, jednak ich opinie, praktyka i potrzeby różnią się i są uwarunkowane ich poziomem wykształcenia, doświadczeniem zawodowym oraz miejscem pracy.

    The paper presents a comparative analysis of the results of the evaluation of technical wear of residential buildings situated in Żary (a town in Lubuskie Voivodship) with the results of calculated percentage values of wear for the same buildings carried out with the use of time methods. The real technical wear of the buildings occurred to be much more advantageous than the one obtained with the help formulas derived from the time methods. An attempt was also made to determine any correlations between the technical wear of the structural elements of buildings erected in a traditional way and the technical wear of their finishing elements.
    Poszukiwanie skutecznych metod programowania działalności remontowej budynkówmieszkalnych wymaga określenia potrzeb naprawczych. Potrzeby te wynikają przede wszystkim z postępu zużycia poszczególnych elementów składowych budynku. W artykule przedstawione są wyniki oceny stanu technicznego budynków mieszkalnych w Żarach (miasteczko w woj. lubuskim) wykonanych w technologii tradycyjnej. Stopień zużycia tych budynków okazał się bardziej korzystny niż uzyskany z obliczeń według wzorów metod czasowych. Wartości liczbowe zawarte w protokołach kontroli okresowych wskazują, że budynki są w lepszym stanie technicznym niż wynikałoby to z obliczeń zgodnie z wzorami. Fakt ten stanowi kolejny przykład wątpliwości zawartych we wzorach. W artykule przedstawione są także wyniki analizy wpływu stanu technicznego elementów w budynku na stopień zużycia innych elementów. Podjęta została próba ustalenia korelacji między stanem technicznym elementów wykończeniowych a stanem technicznym elementów konstrukcyjnych. Otrzymane współczynniki korelacji wskazują na potrzeby remontowe elementów wykończeniowych budynku, stanowią podpowiedź na temat wielkości wpływu stanu technicznego elementów wykończeniowych na elementy konstrukcyjne budynku.

    A huge amount of data is collected by search engines. According to estimates, the Google search engine, which is dominant on the market, receives billions of search requests daily. Of particular note is that a large part of the collected data is available through the Google Trends service. As a consequence, various types of data can be used by enterprises for their development but they often do not take advantage of this opportunity. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to prove the suitability of the big data concept for creating and implementing product innovations, using the example of Google Trends. Discovering human needs and searching for answers to them is not only the domain of entrepreneurs, therefore this study may have a fairly broad practical applications. By adopting general assumptions, i.e. ones that do not refer to specific products or industries, the author has shown that the presented path may be recreated by both entrepreneurs and creators of political programs, as well as leaders of non-governmental organizations who need to implement innovations. The results revealed the selection of specific ways of entering queries in Google Trends and certain periods of analysis which are the most useful for creating innovations. Descriptive statistics (such as median) clearly show that the results typed in Google Trends are better when taken from a user perspective and can be used to create innovations. Despite substantial differences, the results do not allow for the conclusion that these differences were statistically significant. Thus, preliminary data supports the hypothesis, but more research is needed.

    The health care system should offer and provide a variety of services without undue delay. Due to numerous technical, financial and human resource constraints, not all services can be offered both without restrictions and in equal measure in places of different sizes of residence. As a result of qualitative and quantitative research, a map of accessibility to social and health services was drawn up, taking into consideration the division of the country into voivodeships with different population. Spatial analysis showed great diversity in terms of service availability. Voivodships with the highest accessibility of health and social services are Dolnośląskie, Opolskie and Świętokrzyskie, while the worst situation is in Wielkopolskie. Moreover, the article identifies the main problems that people with limited functionality encounter when using health and social services.

Much has also been written about globalization, population demands, water quality, waste management, and maw more oldie issues that confront human kind throughout the world. It is not the authors' purpose in this paper to repeal the familiar maxim: civil engineering education must change to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Instead, the authors clarify the very real risks of the vectors ofpsychological inertia, and describe how systems analysis and the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) justify substantive change in civil engineering education and how that could be accomplished.

    Individuals and groups can experience different forms of social exclusion across multiple domains of social life. Owing to its multivariate nature, a generalized approach to studying exclusion has been adopted in empirical work within the field of social psychology. As such, the relational needs thwarted by various forms of exclusion tend to be accounted for by the generalized construct, the need to belong. To increase the specification of these aspects in exclusion research, the interdisciplinary approach of critical discourse analysis and related analytic tools, such as the discursive construction of identity, are used to perform a contextual and systemic analyses of the relational needs implicated in conditions of everyday exclusion. In the discourse of a sample population in Beirut, Lebanon, we aimed to show how distinct relational needs such as acceptance and fitting in can be disentangled from one another, and from the term belonging, as a higher-order concept, disambiguated in natural language. Semi- structured interviews conducted using the language of belonging methodology involved images of socio-political importance as triggers for talk that generated rich data for critical discourse analysis. This resulted in a contextual analysis of sectarianism as exclusionary and a thematic analysis of other experiences of exclusion linked to gentrification, geopolitical division and globalization. Our findings suggest that, as hypothesised, individuals employ distinct terminology when alluding to different experiences of exclusion. This illustrates the benefits of interdisciplinary methods in accounting for social phenomena more fully, and highlights the need for increased specification of generalized constructs in future empirical work on social exclusion in social psychology.

    Research background: Many authors emphasize that successful human resource management (HRM) practices align with employees’ needs associated with the construct of employees’ interests. In particular, the importance of considering employees’ interests is emphasized in the process of shaping the architecture of Socially Responsible Human Resource Management (SR-HRM) systems. Purpose of the article: The aim of the article is to contribute to understanding employees’ interests by designing and validating a measure to recognize these interests. Methods: Through the use of literature sources and expert opinions, the authors developed a list of employee interests. Empirical data collected via the survey method in Poland was used to statistically verify the measurement scale. In particular, exploratory factor analysis and exploratory structural equation modelling were applied. Findings & value added: This article shows that it is important to create a comprehensive list of interests, as well as validate the research tool used. The newly developed scale has 22 items and five dimensions: support and development at the level of the enterprise, employee participation, support and development at the departmental level, employment security, working conditions and remuneration. It may be used in a variety of companies, as well as in complex research models, and developed further taking into consideration the context of other countries.

    The communication aspect of cross-border healthcare and translation and interpreting in this field are under-researched. This paper presents the results of a qualitative webpage content analysis of the multilingual websites of three Viennese abortion clinics. We investigate if and how content affected by a social and cultural taboo is (re)framed linguistically in versions addressed at patients from Poland, where abortion has been largely illegal since 1993. Our results show that awareness of the need for comprehensive target group-oriented information provision and quality translation and/or adaptation varies and that the Polish websites in our corpus tend to adopt a slightly different, more feminist and pro-choice point-of-view in comparison to the German versions.

    Ze względu na rozwój społeczno-gospodarczy miast coraz większe znaczenie ma infrastruktura komunikacyjna na ich terenie. Elementy infrastruktury obejmujące obiekty komunikacji zbiorowej oraz łączące je ciągi piesze powinny być planowane w szczególny sposób, ze względu na dużą liczbę osób, które z nich korzystają oraz ich komfort. Opisane w artykule prace studialne miały na celu wstępne rozpoznanie obecnych oraz przyszłościowych potrzeb komunikacyjnych mieszkańców Zielonej Góry, lokalnego przemysłu, a także turystyki. Przeprowadzona analiza uzyskanych danych może stanowić podstawę dalszych prac, zmierzających do utworzenia Zielonogórskiego Centrum Komunikacyjnego. Zrealizowanie tego przedsięwzięcia wpłynie na jakość i wydajność korzystania z różnych środków transportu oraz z ciągów komunikacyjnych przy jednoczesnej segregacji poszczególnych użytkowników ruchu, co z pewnością podniesie poziom bezpieczeństwa. Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu podkreślenie wagi planowania rozwiązań komunikacyjnych w centrach miast, poprzedzonego badaniami i analizą rzeczywistych warunków ruchu oraz potrzeb mieszkańców.
    Due to the socio-economic development of cities, the communication infrastructure in their area is becoming more and more important. Elements of infrastructure including public transport facilities and connecting footpaths should be planned with special care due to a large number of people who use them and for their comfort. The studies described in the paper were aimed at preliminary identification of current and future communication needs of the inhabitants of the Zielona Góra city, the local industry and tourism. The analysis of the obtained data may form the basis for further work, the goal of which is to establish the Communication Centre in the Zielona Góra city. The implementation of this project will affect quality and efficiency of using various means of transport and communication routes, at the same time enabling segregation of individual traffic users, which will certainly increase the level of safety. The aim of this paper is to emphasize the importance of planning communication solutions in city centres, preceded by research and analysis of real traffic conditions and needs of the inhabitants.

    Przedmiotem artykułu jest metodologia badawcza evidence-based design, której głównym celem było stworzenie wytycznych projektowych oraz programu funkcjonalnego dla obiektu szpitala, a także zdobycie wiedzy o wpływie środowiska medycznego na osoby chore. Opracowanie opisuje kolejne kroki badawcze, które pozwoliły na zebranie wniosków i wytycznych dla tworzenia projektu. Konkluzje posłużyły do wykonania projektu koncepcyjnego wpisującego się w nowe paradygmaty projektowania obiektów medycznych w odejściu od tradycji sterylnych, obcych przestrzeni szpitalnych.
    The article concerns the evidence-based design methodology used in order to create design guidelines and a functional program for the hospital facility and to broaden the knowledge about the influence of space in medical environment on people with illness. The article guides though the research method and presents tools used to create guidelines for designing a project. Conclusions allowed creating a conceptual design which inscribes itself into new paradigms of medical design, far from the sterile, cold hospital surroundings.

    Parametry obiektów edukacyjnych są podyktowane wieloma uwarunkowaniami - wymogami inwestora, który ściśle określa zakres zmian w przeprojektowywanym obiekcie, ale przede wszystkim potrzebami użytkowników. Współcześnie ważne jest uzyskanie odpowiedniego balansu pomiędzy funkcjonalnością a wrażeniem estetycznym. Jest to szansa, aby oferta edukacyjna takiego obiektu bardziej przyciągała odbiorców, a sam obiekt pod względem architektonicznym zachowywał wysoką pozycję na rynku nieruchomości. Artykuł przedstawia analizy studialne możliwości rozwiązania funkcjonalno-estetycznego wybranych stref budynku administracyjno-edukacyjnego GEOsfery w Jaworznie. Ten stosunkowo niewielki obiekt funkcjonuje od kilku lat, stanowiąc cel wycieczek edukacyjnych wciąż zwiększających się grup użytkowników z różnych przedziałów wiekowych. W projektach studialnych starano się zachować istniejący układ funkcjonalny, wzbogacając go odpowiednią estetyką i wspierając rozwiązaniami: przechowywania oraz ekspozycji zbiorów, elastycznych podziałów przestrzeni wewnętrznych, multiplikacji, a także redukcji miejsc siedzących w zależności od potrzeb itp. Zaprezentowane projekty to wynik pracy zespołów projektowych studentek Politechniki Śląskiej w Gliwicach, kierunku architektura wnętrz, nadzorowanych przez autorki artykułu.
    The educational facilities undergo many conditions - the requirements of the investor, who strictly defines the scope of changes in the redesigned facility, but above all – the need to adapt it to the needs of users. Nowadays, it is important to achieve the right balance between functionality and aesthetic impression. It is a chance that the educational offer of such a facility will attract more customers, and the facility itself will maintain a high position on the real estate market in terms of architecture. The paper presents a study analysis of the functional and aesthetic solutions of selected zones of the GEOsfera administrative and educational building in Jaworzno. This relatively small facility has been operating for several years, being the destination of educational trips for the ever increasing groups of users from various age groups. In the projects, efforts were made to maintain the existing functional layout, enriching it with appropriate aesthetics and supporting it with solutions: storing and displaying collected items, flexible divisions of internal spaces, multiplying and reducing seats depending on the needs, etc. The presented projects are the result of the work of the Silesian University of Technology students, majoring in Interior Architecture, supervised by the authors of the paper.

    Kuchnia w Biszkeku jest autoryzowanym zapisem rozmowy, przeprowadzonej jesienią 2013 r., w stolicy Kirgistanu. Dyskusja, inspirowana wizytą w lokalnym muzeum, dotyczyła problemów wynikających z kulturowych reakcji człowieka na potrzeby biologiczne i pozabiologiczne. Wychodząc od koncepcji Bronisława Malinowskiego autorki podjęły refleksję nad możliwościami budowania takiej teorii kultury, która by wykorzystywała zróżnicowane lokalnie reakcje na uniwersalne potrzeby człowieka.
    Kitchen in Bishkek is an authorised transcription of a conversation which took place in autumn 2012, in the capital of Kirgizstan. The discussion, inspired by a visit to the local museum, was concerning the problems of a cultural reception of the human reaction to biological and non-biological needs. Using Bronisław Malinowski’s conception, the authors have pondered upon a possibility of creating a theory of culture, which would make a use of local differences of reactions to universal human needs.

    V príspevku sme naznačili prieniky obsahov výtvarnej a technickej edukácie na príkladoch výtvarno-technických zadaní. Hodnotenia realizovaných aktivít študentami sme porovnali a ukázali reflexiu troch vybraných zadaní: technicky náročnejšie zadanie – ručný papier, mierne náročné – výroba farebných kried a najmenej náročnú asambláž. Tvorivý potenciál podľa študentov je najvyšší pri asambláži. Ručný papier a výrobu kried považovali za techniky s vyšším stredným tvorivým potenciálom (priemer hodnotení od 3,25 – 4,24 na 5 bodovej škále). Systematická integrácia obsahov technického, výtvarného, prírodovedného zamerania ale aj možnosť integrovať obsahy iných predmetov je závislá na ochote a schopnosti učiteľov a teda aj na ich vysokoškolskej príprave. Zo zistení vyplýva, že je podnetné v príprave učiteľov venovať priestor variovaniu rôznych techník pri zachovaní čo najväčšej tvorivej slobody.
    The article presents the relationship between art and technical education on the examples of artistic and technical exercises performed by pupils of early school education. After completing the exercises, pupils evaluated them on a scale of 1 – 5 in terms of their creative potential. The experiment showed that systematic integration of the content of technical, visual and natural sciences in technical education depends on the willingness and skills of teachers as well as their academic preparation. Thus, providing teachers with teaching methods with the greatest possible creative potential gives good results in their professional development.
    W artykule przedstawiono związki między sztuką i edukacją techniczną na przykładach ćwiczeń artystyczno-technicznych wykonywanych przez studentów kierunku edukacja wczesnoszkolna. Po wykonaniu ćwiczeń studenci oceniali je w skali 1 – 5 pod względem potencjału twórczego. Prezentowany eksperyment pokazał, że systematyczna integracja treści nauk technicznych, wizualnych i przyrodniczych w edukacji technicznej zależy od chęci i umiejętności nauczycieli oraz ich przygotowania uniwersyteckiego. Zatem dobre wyniki w kształceniu nauczycieli daje przedstawianie im metod o jak największym potencjale twórczym.

    Celem artykułu jest zdefiniowane i opisanie diagnozy funkcjonalnej jako modelu udzielania pomocy psychologiczno-pedagogicznej uczniom ze specjalnymi potrzebami edukacyjnymi. Ze względu na używanie tego terminu w wielu kontekstach naukowych (pedagogika, psychologia, medycyna), a także w obszarze praktyki diagnostyczno-terapeutycznej, trudno jest podać jego spójną eksplikację. Analizowane sposoby aplikowania pojęcia „diagnoza funkcjonalna” wskazują na wybiórcze rozumienie roli i zadań przypisywanych pedagogom, psychologom, nauczycielom i innym specjalistom. Powoduje to, że główny walor diagnozy funkcjonalnej, jakim jest kompleksowość wsparcia, nie jest w wystarczającym stopniu realizowany, co bezpośrednio przekłada się na jakość edukacji uczniów ze specjalnymi potrzebami edukacyjnymi.
    The aim of the article is to define and describe the functional diagnosis as a model for providing psychological and pedagogical assistance to students with special educational needs (SEN). Due to the use of this term in many scientific contexts (pedagogy, psychology, medicine), as well as in the area of diagnostic and therapeutic practice, it is difficult to give its coherent explanation. The analyzed methods of applying the concept of functional diagnosis indicate a selective understanding of the role and tasks attributed to educators, psychologists, teachers and other specialists. Because of that the main value of the functional diagnosis, namely the complexity of support, is not sufficiently implemented, which directly translates into the quality of education of students with special educational needs.

Jest ona dedykowana członkom lokalnych społeczności, może być wykorzystywana do wspierania przedsiębiorczości, samorealizacji i aktywizacji na polu życia społecznego. W artykule, na podstawie badań jakościowych i ilościowych, zidentyfikowano kluczowe potrzeby użytkowników i w ich kontekście zaprezentowano koncepcję organizacji platformy informatycznej aktywizującej seniorów.
    Due to the aging of society, the authors have developed a concept of ICT platform aimed at increasing the activity of people at the retirement age. It is dedicated to members of local communities, can be used to support entrepreneurship, self-fulfillment and activation in the field of social life. In the article, based on quantitative and qualitative research, the key needs of users have been identified, and in their context, the concept of organization of the ICT platform for activating seniors has been presented.
