The ship propulsion solution based on unconventional thrusters driven by electric motors is most often applied for the multi-mode ships. These ships ought to have dynamic positioning system. It forces an application of a few thrusters (most often four, seldom more up to eight). Records from a number of multi-mode ships show amean load of less than 40% of maximum load on the propulsion system. In other side the demand for electric energy of ship industrial part is large, more often than for the propulsion part. In that case the diesel-electric propulsion system application may be economical, because the electric energy generation for all ship's purposes makes possible the main engines work on the optimum loads on lowest specific fuel consumption and allows them a long-term work on heavy fuels. For multi-mode ships like cable ships, suppliers, drilling vessels are convenient an application of unconventional thrusters with direct electric propulsion as well, especially for dynamic positioning systems. The efficiency of the thrusters is a predominant factor for the successful and economical operation. Forecasted development and rise of quantity of diesel-electric propulsion (it means with electrical transmission) would cause increased interest of unconventional thrusters. Ultimately they may revolutionize ship propulsion systems.

Opis:
The propulsion system of multi-mode ships cause many problems of proper the choise of propulsion system elements and theirs arrangement in the design process. This system has to fulfil at least two inverse demands. It ought to make possible efficient ship shift (transit mode) from the port to the off shore work place and return to base, to ensure a ship survive at sea in the worst sea condition possible on that sea area and to fulfil conditions of dynamic positioning accuracy (stationkeeping mode) at specified bad state of the sea - not to stop the ship work for long time. The dynamic positioning systems require multi-element ship propulsion application. The fulfilment, all required possibilities and accuracy of ship positioning by chosen propulsion system specified in the project data, is the most important project problem to obtain the minimum investment costs. The redimensioning of propulsion system, increasing the number of thrusters and theirs possibilities gives the benefits in dynamic positioning accuracy, but increases the investment costs. An expensive project may not be realized because of price. The aim of designer is the choice optimum solution of propulsion system, which is fulfils all expectations of ship owner and crew, and performs all project assumptions.

The dynamic positioning systems require multi-element ship propulsion application. The chosen solutions have decisive effect on propulsion system possibilities, in ship dynamic positioning accuracy also. The automation system has an essential influence on it, because it is an integral part with propulsion system mponsible for this process. The most often ship propulsion solution based on unconventional thrusters driven by electric motor s also. A few independent propulsion systems is essential but it complicates this system, it is limited the number (most often to 4, seldom more up to eight). There are no solutions with traditional rudder and steering gear. These functions take over azimuthing thrusters because they can generale directional thrust force. It must be settle the question of the number of thruster choose and the span angle of azimuthing (most often by thruster turning). In that case it gets the possibilities of ship positioning, they may display as propulsion system characteristics, giving a view on ąuality of positioning process. The last veriflcation is made in real sea conditions when it may test if chosen solution of ship propulsion system fulfils the requirements of positioning accuracy. It was presented the examples of multi-mode ship propulsions and parameters of theirs propulsion plants.

The paper presents simulations of a selected single mode generation in systems containing duct-like elements applying the finite element method (FEM). Simulations were carried out for values of the Helmholtz number exceeding the plane-wave propagation, i.e. for a multimode wave. The presented results constitute the first step to analyse propagation of the multimode wave through more complicated systems such as mufflers, even in a form of a cascade. Propagation of the incident wave in the form of a single mode greatly simplifies solutions of many problems, to mention only derivation of the transmission or the scattering matrices. The results obtained can be applied to analyse the effectiveness of attenuation of acoustic silencers or elements of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) at the design stage. Results of simulations are compared with already published experimental data obtained in a measurement set-up containing the self-designed single mode synthesizer.

In this research, a hybrid electromagnetic actuator is proposed to coordinate the contradictions between dynamic performance and energy consumption of an electromagnetic suspension. The hybrid electromagnetic suspension (HEMS) is configured to operate in the passive energy regeneration mode, active control ride comfort mode or active control driving safety mode depending on the road excitation frequency. Then, the HEMS system is modeled. The simulation results show that the HEMS can automatically switch between different modes, and realize an effective coordination between dynamic performance and energy saving. Finally, a quarter car test is conducted, which verifies the effectiveness of the multi-mode switching control.

Opis:
A ship’s wind energy utilization device with multi-mode arc-shaped sails is designed, which have different working modes for sail-assisting or wind power generation according to the ship’s navigation. The structural characteristics and working principles of this device are firstly described in this paper. Three sets of arc-shaped sails with different thickness (4.5 cm, 11.3 cm, 21.7 cm) were designed. Wind tunnel experiments were carried out in the respects of sail-assisting performance and wind-power generation to determine the best sail blade shape and to verify the energy-saving effect of this device. Experiments show that the sail with the smallest thickness (4.5 cm) has a better boosting effect than others, and the sail with the largest thickness (21.7 cm) has the best wind power generation performance. Considering the lateral force and the structural strength of the support, in the case of the comprehensive evaluation for the boosting and power generation performance, it is considered that the intermediate thickness (11.3 cm) is the best choice. The device has a good comprehensive energy utilization effect and has development and application value.

The paper describes adaptive amplifier design with varactors and pin diodes as regulators of matching networks. As examples the two amplifiers with SHF-0189 HFET transistor and different matching sections were designed and manufactured. The output power level of 27 dBm and gain higher than 13 dB within L and S-band have been achieved. The amplifier design methodology is based on the small-signal approach and DC characteristics of transistors and regulators. Amplifier adaptivity allows us to remotely control the chosen parameters such as: frequency range, output power level, gain and etc.

The aim of this paper is to present a modelling heuristic framework that enables one to cope with a problem of a project-driven manufacturing. The objective is to find computationally effective method aimed at scheduling of a new project subject to constraints imposed by a multi-project environment. The application of a heuristic method of scheduling is demonstrated on one example of a makespan-feasible schedule that follows the constraints imposed by the precedence relation and by the time-constrained resources availability. This heuristic method is based on concept of critical path and branch and bound scheme.

This article describes benefits of using a G.652 telecommunication optical fibre instead of a multi-mode optical fibre for a measurement coil of the interferometric current sensor. The simulation results were presented for coils with various numbers of turns and made of various optical fibres - a single-mode and multi-mode fibre.
W artykule pokazano, że preferowane jest stosowanie standardowego światłowodu telekomunikacyjnego G.652 do wykonania cewki pomiarowej interferometrycznego czujnika natężenia prądu, zamiast światłowodu wielomodowego. Przedstawiono wyniki symulacji dla cewek o różnej liczbie zwojów i różnych wartości natężenia prądu dla dwóch różnych typów włókien światłowodowych - jednomodowego i wielomodowego.

W artykule pokazano, że preferowane jest stosowanie światłowodów telekomunikacyjnych standardów G.652, G.653 i G.655 do wykonania cewki pomiarowej polarymetrycznego czujnika natężenia prądu, zamiast światłowodu wielomodowego. Przedstawiono wyniki symulacji dla cewek o różnej liczbie zwojów i różnych wartości natężenia prądu dla światłowodów jednomodowych i wielomodowych. Zaprezentowano również analizę dokładności pomiaru natężenia prądu za pomocą czujnika polarymetrycznego, w którym cewka pomiarowa wykonana jest ze światłowodu telekomunikacyjnego. W oparciu o symulację komputerową określono, że ułożenie przewodów linii wysokiego napięcia 110 kV nie wpływa na dokładność pomiaru rozpatrywanym czujnikiem natężenia prądu.
This paper describes benefits of using G.652, G.653 and G.655 telecommunication optical fibres for a measurement coil of the polarimetric current sensor. There are given the simulation results for coils of different number of turns and made of various optical fibres - a single-mode and multi-mode fibre. There is presented analysis of the accuracy of current measurement by means of the polarimetric sensor, in which the measurement coil is made of telecommunication optical fibers. Using the classical theory of measurement errors, it is shown that polarimetric current sensors with the measurement coil made of telecommunication optical fiber are characterised by a very high accuracy. Based on computer simulations, it was proved that the 110 kV high voltage cable laying does not affect the presented current sensor accuracy. In the presented polarimetric sensor model it was shown that the distance from the center of the high-voltage power line cable to the optical fiber should be at least 55 mm in order to prevent the impact of macrobendings. This feature will make it possible to use this sensor in remote measurement systems.

Opis:
Inland navigation is the oldest mode of cargo and passenger traffic, counting nearly 5000 years. Now this transport mode gets the main importance again, which requires innovative changes in the inland waterway networks, vessels and its dervice system. This is due to the fact that combined rail/road transport widely used in XX century is currently struggling with high external costs along the main traffic corridors of the Trans-European Transport Network, including costs of environment renewal, congestion consequences and refund of traffic accidents charges. Experience of some EU countries has shown that innovative approaches to the organization of inland navigation as element of integrated transport systems could help to solve these problems.
Żegluga śródlądowa jest najstarszym rodzajem przewozów towarowych i pasażerskich i liczy około 5000 lat. W obecnych czasach ta gałąź transportu ponownie nabiera znaczenia, co wymaga zmian organizacyjnych oraz podwyższenia skuteczności systemów obsługiwania. Wymagania te związane są z pewnymi zmianami koncepcyjnymi. Wynika to z faktu, że transport kombinowany kolejowo-drogowy szeroko stosowany w XX wieku coraz częściej zmaga się z wysokimi kosztami zewnętrznymi obejmującymi koszty odnawiania środowiska, koszty kongestii oraz koszty związane z poważnymi skutkami wypadków samochodowych. Doświadczenie krajów UE pokazyje, że innowacyjne podejście do organizacji transportu śródlądowego jako podstawowego ogniwa zintegrowanych systemów transportowych może pomóc rozwiązać te problemy.

There has been considerable research done on multi-chamber mufflers used in the elimination of industrial venting noise. However, most research has been restricted to lower frequencies using the plane wave theory. This has led to underestimating acoustical performances at higher frequencies. Additionally, because of the space-constrained problem in most plants, the need for optimization of a compact muffler seems obvious. Therefore, a muffler composed of multiple rectangular fin-shaped chambers is proposed. Based on the eigenfunction theory, a four-pole matrix used to evaluate the acoustic performance of mufflers will be deduced. A numerical case for eliminating pure tones using a three-fin-chamber muffler will also be examined. To delineate the best acoustical performance of a space-constrained muffler, a numerical assessment using the Differential Evolution (DE) method is adopted. Before the DE operation for pure tone elimination can be carried out, the accuracy of the mathematical model must be checked using experimental data. The results reveal that the broadband noise has been efficiently reduced using the three-fin-chamber muffler. Consequently, a successful approach in eliminating a pure tone using optimally shaped three-fin-chamber mufflers and a differential evolution method within a constrained space has been demonstrated.

In this contribution, a control scheme based on multi input multi output Fuzzy Sliding Mode control (MIMOFSMC) for linear speed regulation of multi-motors system is proposed. Once the decoupled model of the multi- motors system is obtained, a smooth control function with a threshold was chosen to indicate how far the state from to the sliding surface is. However, the magnitude of this control function depends closely on the upper bound of uncertainties, and this generates chattering. So, this magnitude has to be chosen with great care to obtain high performances. Usually the upper bound of uncertainties is difficult to known before motor operation, so, a Fuzzy Sliding Mode controller is investigated to solve this difficulty; a simple Fuzzy inference mechanism is used to reduce the chattering phenomenon by simple adjustments. A simulation study is carried out and shows that the proposed controller has great potential for use as an alternative to the conventional sliding mode contro.
