Opis:
Development and geographical expansion of multinational corporations makes it more complex and more often we are dealing with cultural diversity within teams of employees. Mutual cooperation of foreigners and local staff raises many intercultural interactions, both negative and positive. The purpose of this article is to identify the benefits and weaknesses arising from intercultural interactions between foreigners and local staff in the German subsidiary operating in Poland. The research procedure was a case study and a method was 12 structured interviews with Polish managers. Research problems concerned the general perception of Polish managers in relation to cooperation with foreigners. The respondents indicated the benefits and problems of this cooperation, as well as practical guidance (advice) to improve these interactions. This case study enriched the empirical achievements in the area of the new trend in management sciences, which is the positive organizational scholarship (POS).

The problem of monetary aspect of welfare in employees’ household was undertaken in this paper. In order to identify the households in danger of poverty, the binary logit models approach was applied. It was found that the estimation of models without the interaction terms results in misspecification error. Due to this, the interaction terms, between the socio-economic factors of households were included in the model. The obtained results can have significant importance in the aspect of social policy in Poland.

Using the B3PW91/6-31G(d) computational procedure, we fnd two types of complexes to be formed between aliphatic amines and 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT). Type 1 are noncovalent, primarily electrostatic interactions that occur in the vicinities of the NO2 groups; Type 2 are δ-adducts, at carbons 1, 3 and 5. In Type 1, the TNT framework is very little affected. In Type 2, however, the site of the complex becomes quasi-tetrahedral, with longer bonds to its neighbors in the ring; the C-NO2 bonds are shortened. The Type 1 complexes have weakly negative (attractive) interaction enthalpies. For one of them, utilizing a chargetransfer formalism, we obtained a wave length for an electronic transition to a low-lying dative excited state that is in good agreement with observed values. The Type 2 interaction enthalpies are near-zero or even positive; however all of the complexes correspond to energy minima (no imaginary frequencies). For one of the Type 2, a transition state to a nitronic acid was found, with an activation enthalpy of only 5.6 kcal/mole. This indicates a possible route for amine-induced decomposition of TNT.

The aim of this study was to investigate the association between students’ gender and teacher-student interactions in a sample of Botswanan junior secondary school Physical Education lessons. Ninety-six lessons taught by male and female physical education teachers were observed, coded, and analysed for gendered interaction patterns. Chi-square test of independence was used for data analysis. The level of statistical significance was set at p <. 05. Results reveal a statistically significant association between students’ gender and teacher-student interactions with respect to task allocation and misbehaviour management. No significant associations were found between students’ gender and teachers’ questions and feedback. The study concludes that systematic observations of pedagogical interactions in physical education settings are necessary to highlight deeply entrenched gender equity issues in co-educational classrooms. Physical education teacher preparation programmes must impress upon pre- and in-service candidates the importance of and different approaches to enacting gender-sensitive instructional practices. Providing physical education teachers with contextualized pedagogical directions and resources for analysing and addressing gender bias in their classroom will equip them to create inclusive, interactive, respectful, equitable, and productive lessons.

Metabolic and toxicodynamic interactions of some organic solvents in rats repeatedly treated with medium dose levels were examined. It was shown that both n-hexane and ethylbenzene significantly inhibited tetrachloroethylene metabolism during a 2-week period. n-Hexane and tetrachloroethylene enhanced metabolism of ethylbenzene whereas ethylbenzene suppressed n-hexane metabolism only at the end of the experiment. Biochemical changes, especially the drop in the level of non-protein sulfhydryl groups in tissues of rats treated with organic solvent mixtures, were significantly less pronounced than those observed after these chemicals were administered separately. These results demonstrate that metabolic interactions between hydrocarbons and chloroalkene may lead to a modification of the biological response to these compounds.

Structural bioinformatics approaches applied to the alpha- and beta-glycosidases from the GH4 enzyme family reveal that, despite low sequence identity, these enzymes possess quite similar global structural characteristics reflecting a common reaction mechanism. Locally, there are a few distinctive structural characteristics of GH4 alpha- and beta-glycosidases, namely, surface cavities with different geometric characteristics and two regions with highly dissimilar structural organizations and distinct physicochemical properties in the alpha- and beta-glucosidases from Thermotoga maritima. We suggest that these structurally dissimilar regions may be involved in specific protein-protein interactions and this hypothesis is sustained by the predicted distinct functional partners of the investigated proteins. Also, we predict that alpha- and beta-glycosidases from the GH4 enzyme family interact with difenoconazole, a fungicide, but there are different features of these interactions especially concerning the identified structurally distinct regions of the investigated proteins.

Opis:
Methionyl-tRNA synthetase (MetRS) belongs to the family of 20 enzymes essential for protein biosynthesis. It links covalently methionine with its cognate tRNA. Crystal structures solved for bacterial MetRSs have given a number of interesting insights into enzyme architecture and methionylation catalysis. A comparison of sequences of MetRSs belonging to all kingdoms of life, as well as numerous biochemical and genetic studies have revealed the presence of various additional domains appended to the catalytic core of synthetase. They are responsible for interactions with tRNA and proteins. Tertiary structure of C-terminal tRNA-binding appendices can be deduced from those determined for their homologues: tRNA binding protein 111 and endothelial monocyte-activating polypeptide II. Contacts between MetRS and other proteins could be mediated not only by noncatalytic peptides but also by structural elements present in the catalytic core, e.g. Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) motifs. Additional activities involve MetRS in the maintenance of translational fidelity and in coordination of ribosome biogenesis with protein synthesis.

In this investigation, galvanic interaction between galena and pyrite in flotation and its effect on floatability of pyrite were studied. Rest and mixed potential studies in the presence and absence of a collector indicated that pyrite was nobler than galena under all investigated conditions. Therefore, pyrite served as a cathode in galvanic interactions with galena. Floatability of pyrite was performed alone and as a mixture with galena in the ratios of pyrite to galena equal to 1:4, 1:1 and 4:1. The experiments were conducted with air and nitrogen. In any galvanic contact between pyrite and galena, anodic oxidation occurred on the galena surface, and hydrolysed lead species adsorbed on the pyrite surface. The investigation of the various reactions occurring on the sample surface was investigated by ethylene diamine-tetra acetic acid disodium salt (EDTA) extraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements. In the presence of nitrogen, floatability of pyrite increased. The recovery of pyrite in the presence of air was 22%, while in the mixture with galena (ratio 1:4) the recovery increased to 43%. The results indicated that the presence of galena improved floatability of pyrite.

The aftermath of influenza infection is determined by a complex set of host-pathogen interactions, where genomic variability on both viral and host sides influences the final outcome. Although there exists large body of literature describing influenza virus variability, only a very small fraction covers the issue of host variance. The goal of this review is to explore the variability of host genes responsible for host-pathogen interactions, paying particular attention to genes responsible for the presence of sialylated glycans in the host endothelial membrane, mucus, genes used by viral immune escape mechanisms, and genes particularly expressed after vaccination, since they are more likely to have a direct influence on the infection outcome.

Canthaxanthin (β,β-carotene 4,4' dione) used widely as a drug or as a food and cosmetic colorant may have some undesirable effects on human health, caused mainly by the formation of crystals in the macula lutea membranes of the retina of an eye. Experiments show the exceptional molecular organization of canthaxanthin and a strong effect of this pigment on the physical properties of lipid membranes. The most striking difference between canthaxanthin and other macular pigments is that the effects of canthaxanthin at a molecular level are observed at much lower concentration of this pigment with respect to lipid (as low as 0.05 mol%). An analysis of the molecular interactions of canthaxanthin showed molecular mechanisms such as: strong van der Waals interactions between the canthaxanthin molecule and the acyl chains of lipids, restrictions to the segmental molecular motion of lipid molecules, modifications of the surface of the lipid membranes, effect on the membrane thermotropic properties and finally interactions based on the formation of the hydrogen bonds. Such interactions can lead to a destabilization of the membrane and loss of membrane compactness. In the case of the retinal vasculature, it can lead to an increase in the permeability of the retinal capillary walls and the development of retinopathy.

This paper analyses the complexity of family life, which includes both its charismatic and institutional aspects. Deepening the understanding of this basic social group can be useful in explaining how human beings in their decisions and actions, as well as organizations, unceasingly transcend different oppositions and dimensions. Undertaking this topic is not only important in the context of understanding the fundamental and complex experience of family life in the process of preparing and introducing new members to society, but also from the organizational perspective. It means that exploring the role of both dimensions – charismatic and institutional – which are somehow complementary, is crucial for understanding and harmonizing the different relationships and interactions within organizations, including business ones. In this way the article shows the connection between the functioning of the family and society (including organizations within it).

The results of a combined study of bornite with Mossbauer spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and DC magnetometry are reported. The orthorhombic crystallographic structure of the mineral is observed at 15 K and 300 K. It exhibits an increase of the orthorhombic distortion with decreasing temperature. Magnetic susceptibility shows a Curie-Weiss like behaviour between 230 K and 380 K corresponding to the effective magnetic moment of 7.2(3) mi B per formula unit. The material undergoes a transition to an antiferromagnetic-like state at 75 K. Mossbauer spectra at the paramagnetic range are doublets with a small quadrupole splitting and the isomer shift corresponding to a high spin Fe3+ state. Upon magnetic ordering, a coexistence of the paramagnetic doublet with a broadened magnetic sextet is observed indicating an inhomogeneous character of the magnetic transition. The hyperfine field of 350 kOe at 4.2 K is much lower than that observed for a high spin Fe3+ in oxides (510 kOe) which is attributed to covalence effects and a possible copper contribution to the effective magnetic moment of the compound.

In this article we focus on what discourse analysis brings to (im)politeness research. The paper begins by considering in more detail what is (im)politeness and why studying it in discourse is important. We then review some of the main approaches of discourse analysis that are employed in (im)politeness research. This is followed by two sample studies that illustrate some of the key challenges we face when analysing (im)politeness across different languages or different varieties of the same language. It can be seen that the shift in how (im)politeness is theorised over the past two decades has been accompanied by a move towards anchoring the analysis of (im)politeness in discourse. (Im)politeness is not something that should be attached to single utterances and its dynamic nature in discourse is what drives, in part, variability in evaluations of (im)politeness amongst users. It is also necessary to systematically examine not only whose understanding of politeness we are examining, but also on what grounds those understandings arise.

Introduction and aim. Healthcare professionals including prescribers, pharmacists and nurses must have adequate knowledge of drug-drug interactions because they can cause toxicity, loss of efficacy, and side effects. This study was aimed to assess the respective roles of healthcare professionals in preventing drug-drug interactions by clinical interventions. Material and methods. This study was conducted at a Secondary Care Hospital of Pakistan in which total 1000 prescriptions were assessed for drug-drug interactions. Questionnaires and descriptive statistics were tools to assess the satisfaction of prescribers with pharmacists and their own prescribed medications before and after the clinical interventions. Modifications in medication therapies were done accordingly after the evaluation and acceptance of interventions. Results. The p-value was highly significant (p<0.05) which showed that the collaboration between healthcare professionals is necessary to avoid drug-drug interaction by clinical interventions. Acceptance rate of interventions was 77%. Clinical interventions are a useful tool in minimizing and preventing drug-drug interactions. The compliance of prescribers with their own prescribed medication regimens increased after clinical interventions. Conclusion. Prescribers, pharmacists and nurses have their respective roles in preventing drug-drug interactions and they must review the appropriateness of every medication order for clinical interventions.

The samples differing in the chemical composition (x = 0.9, 0.8, and 0.7) were produced according to the conventional solid-state sintering method from the mixture of powders. Moreover, three different variants of the fabrication process differing in the temperatures and soaking time were applied. The results of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Mössbauer spectroscopy (MS), and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) were collected and compared for the set of the investigated materials. The structural transformation from rhombohedral to cubic symmetry was observed for the samples with x = 0.7. With increasing of BaTiO3 concentration Mössbauer spectra become broadened refl ecting various confi gurations of atoms around 57Fe probes. Moreover, gradual decreasing of the average hyperfi ne magnetic fi eld and macroscopic magnetization were observed with x decreasing.

In this work the compositional dependence of hyperfine interactions and magnetoelectric coupling in (BiFeO3)x-(BaTiO3)1–x solid solutions where x = 0.5–0.9 fabricated from commercial BaTiO3 in terms of the solid-state sintering method at various temperatures and over different time periods is described. In general, as the content of BaTiO3 increases, a decrease in the hyperfine magnetic field (Bhf) at 57Fe nuclei was observed. However, for samples exhibiting lower homogeneity in which the ions of Bi3+ and Fe3+ are replaced by Ba2+ and Ti4+ with lower probability, higher values of Bhf are obtained. For the sample where x = 0.6 that exhibits the coexistence of rhombohedral, regular and tetragonal phases, the highest value of the αME coefficient (3.57 mV/A) was observed, which is more than three times higher when compared to the hitherto published results.

The room temperature Mössbauer spectra of 57Fe were measured for numerous dilute iron-based alloys Fe1-xDx (D = Al, Co, Cr, Mn, Mo, Ni, Os, Pt, Re, Ru, Ta, Ti, V, W, Zn), annealed at 1270 K for 2 h before the measurements. The spectra were analyzed using the Hesse–Rübartsch method in order to determine the mean hyperfi ne magnetic fi eld at the 57Fe nuclei as a function of concentration x of the minority component of the alloy. As the binary alloys are one-faze solid solutions of an element D in iron, a linear relationship between and x is observed. The result supports the suggestion that Mössbauer spectroscopy is a useful tool for the study of dissolution of different elements in iron.

We present a synthesis of the mathematical model of a joint of a new generation multi-link surgical micromanipulator. A design of such a device involves finding solutions for several difficult problems which do not appear in classical 'large' robots.Aprototype in development has six links, and it is driven by brushless servomotors with planetary and worm gears, for which the total transmission ratio is above 10000:1. Most importantly, whole construction is covered by an antiseptic coating which substantially changes manipulator's dynamics. Because of the complicated form of the drive model with three-stage planetary gearings and coating interactions, control of such system is significantly different from control of a typical industrial robot. This paper presents a synthesis of the model of the joint, which can be used to design the control system. In this work the derived model is used to examine joint's properties and characteristics. Results are presented graphically and discussed.

Introduction: In the daily practice of an otolaryngologist, we encounter cases where the symptoms are not the result of disease but result from pharmacotherapy. In the case of symptoms such as hearing loss, tinnitus, or dizziness, polytherapy may be used as the basis for their occurrence, which, due to the lack of rationality in combining drugs, leads to symptoms that the patient and the doctor very often interpret as a new disease syndrome. Aim: The aim of the study is to show and to raise awareness of the fact that the symptoms of hearing organ impairment are frequently drug-related and only a modification of the currently used pharmacotherapy is a rational procedure in such cases. Material: This paper describes 30 cases who developed side effects of polypharmacy in the form of hearing disorders, dizziness, and tinnitus. The causes of drug-related complications were discussed, as well as effective methods of their prevention.

The Geodynamic Laboratory in Książ includes investigations of various kinds of geodynamic signals. Among others, we registered harmonic signals of the range 10-3 - 10-4 Hz. These signals had been found in the measurement series of the long water-tube (WT) tiltmeters. The discovered signals consist of two classes of harmonics associated with various kinds of phenomena. The first class of these signals belongs to viscoelastic vibrations of the Earth’s solid body, while the second class is produced possibly by the extremely long atmospheric infrasound waves. The signals of the vibrations of the Earth had been well recognized by the characteristic frequencies of the Earth’s free vibrations’ resonance, which occur mainly after strong earthquakes. The atmospheric pressure microvibrations affected the water level in the hydrodynamic systems of the WTs as a result of an inverse barometric effect. We observed that signals from both classes blend in the harmonics of similar frequencies and jointly affect the hydrodynamic systems of the WTs. We found that the amplitude of the secondclass signals strongly depends on the location of water-tube gauges inside the underground, while the amplitudes of the first-class signals are similar for all the gauges. These observations clearly indicate the atmospheric origin of the second class of registered signals.

The investigation considers phase stabilization of ammonium nitrate for considerable extension of its application area including new generation of gas-generating compositions for airbag inflators. It was shown that alloys of ammonium nitrate with small amounts (2-10%) of some organic compounds can have no phase transitions or at least have only one instead of three ones in initial ammonium nitrate. The mostly effective as stabilizers are the compounds that have rather close crystallographic parameters. A strong donor-acceptor interaction between nitrate-anion and organic molecules are found. Using quantum-chemical calculations, X-ray analysis, X-ray phase analysis, UV- and IR-spectroscopy it was found a new ammonium nitrate phase state in its alloy with some organic additives. This state is stable in temperature range between -50 and +100 C.

Ternary Co-Fe-Ni alloys were prepared from the elemental powders by the mechanical alloying method. Structural properties and hyperfine interactions parameters were determined using X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction proved that during milling Co-Fe-based solid solutions with b.c.c. lattice were formed in the case of Co40Fe40Ni20 and Co50Fe40Ni10 alloys, while for Co52Fe26Ni22 and Co65Fe23Ni12 compositions Co-Ni-based solid solutions with f.c.c. lattice were obtained. Mössbauer spectroscopy revealed similar values of the average hyperfine magnetic fields for all the alloys. These values corresponded to the different surroundings of 57Fe isotopes by Co, Fe and Ni atoms, depending on the chemical composition of the alloy. The possible atomic configurations around 57Fe isotopes were discussed on the basis of the local environment model under the assumption that only the first nearest neighbours contribute to the hyperfine magnetic field at 57Fe site.

Opis:
Criticality is considered as a fundamental category of production planning, maintenance process planning and management. The criticality assessment of machines and devices can be a structured set of activities allowing to identify failures which have the greatest potential impact on the company’s business goals. It can be also used to define maintenance strategies, investment strategies and development plans, assisting the company in prioritizing their allocations of financial resources to those machines and devices that are critical in accordance with the predefined business criteria. In a criticality assessment process many different and interacting criteria have to be taken into consideration, despite the fact that there is a high level of uncertainty related to various parameters. In addition, not all assessment criteria are equally important. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the weight of each criterion taking into account different requirements of machine criticality process stakeholders. That is why a novel model of a machine criticality assessment is proposed in this paper. The model extends the existing methods of assessing machines criticality, taking into account not only the importance of machine criticality assessment criteria, but also possible interactions between them.

The paper has been intended to present a new mathematical formula (given by Russian physicist Prof. Szypow) to describe flat collisions with rotation in the form of equations of momentum and moment of momentum within a dynamic reference frame. What has been discussed is a mathematical model generated at ITWL to describe collisions of rotating bodies. Simulation-effected results gained with the Matlab-Simulink are presented. Evaluated are parameters of the reference frame for both translatory and rotary motion of colliding bodies, which enable the so-called torsional interactions. Proposed is a measuring system to define this phenomenon using accelerometers and rate giroscopes.

Opis:
This article contributes to our understanding of how boundary work is practiced in healthcare settings. Previous studies have shown how boundaries are constantly changing, multiple, and co-existing, and can also be relatively stable cognitive and social distinctions between individuals and groups. In highly specialized, knowledge-intensive organizations such as healthcare organizations, organizational, professional, and disciplinary boundaries mark the formal structure and division of work. Collaboration and coordination across these boundaries are essential to minimizing gaps in patient care, but also may be challenging to achieve in practice. By drawing on data from an ethnographic study of two hospital wards, this article investigates practices of cross-disciplinary and professional collaboration and adds to our knowledge of how this kind of boundary work is produced in context. Moreover, it adds to existing boundary literature by exploring the fast-paced, situational, micro-interactions in which boundaries are drawn, maintained, and dissolved. These mundane, brief exchanges are essential to the practice of collaboration through boundary work. I consider the implications of these findings for boundary theory and boundaries in healthcare and other related settings.

Flotation and adsorption characteristics of the most commonly used cationic and anionic collectors with high grade orthoclase were investigated through the electrokinetic potential measurement, microflotation, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) studies. According to the obtained results, orthoclase had high flotation recovery with amine and oleic acid based (OAB) collector at certain pH ranges no flotation response was observed with petroleum sulfonate at different pHs. In contrast to the flotation recovery differences, the electrokinetic potential measurements, FTIR and AFM analyses presented similar adsorption characteristics for all collectors. The results of electrokinetic potential tests showed that amine had a strong influence on the zeta potential of orthoclase. While amine turned the zeta potentials of orthoclase from negative to positive, sulfonate and OAB collector provided slightly more negative zeta potentials at certain pHs. In the case of FTIR and AFM analyses, each collector-treated orthoclase (CTO) sample displayed similar characteristic FTIR bands of CH2 group and micro topographical collector coated patches with different intensities. However, the interactions of each collector with orthoclase surfaces were altered by rinsing with acetone indicating that the interactions were mostly through the electrostatic forces and/or hydrogen bonding.

Flotation is one of the best method for preliminary identification of protein-lipid interactions. In most widely used approach it utilizes large unilamellar vesicles, that are excellent models of freestanding membranes and do not require any additional components, like solid supports or beads that are needed in other methods commonly used for protein-lipid binding studies. Here we present results obtained during our studies on phosphatidic acid - syndapin interactions and discuss some technical aspects of this method underlying how relatively small changes in the conditions can influence the results.

In this work the hyperfine interactions in (BiFeO3)x-(BaTiO3)1-x solid solutions with relation to their structural properties have been investigated. X-ray diffraction, Mössbauer spectroscopy and magnetoelectric effect measurements have been used for studies of sintered (BiFeO3)x-(BaTiO3)1-x solid solutions with x = 0.9, 0.8 and 0.7. With increasing contents of BaTiO3, the structural transformation from rhombohedral to cubic was observed. The weakening of the hyperfine magnetic fields accompanied by this transformation. On the other hand, the increasing amount of BaTiO3 caused an increase of the magnetoelectric effect.

In spite of the important recent advances in the field of low-energy electron interactions with atoms and molecules, there still exist fundamental needs and challenges, some of which are generic in their basic and applied significance. These include measurements of cross sections for a number of fundamental low-energy electron–ground-state molecule interaction processes such as vibrational excitation (direct and indirect) and dissociation into neutral fragments, studies of low-energy electron–excited molecule interactions, investigations of low-energy electron interactions with radicals and transient species, and measurements of electron energy losses in electron–molecule collision processes. They also include studies for linking of knowledge on isolated electron–molecule interactions to that in the condensed phases of matter, and the systematic and quantitative exploration of the interactions of low-energy electrons with molecular and macromolecular biological structures.

Abstract Information about the space-time evolution of colliding nuclei can be extracted correlating particles emitted from nuclear collisions. The high density of particles produced in the STAR experiment allows the measurement of non-identical strange particle correlations. Due to the absence of Coulomb interaction, p-Lambda and p Lambda- systems are more sensitive to the source size than p-p pairs. Strong interaction potential has been studied using p-Lambda, and for the first time, p Lambda pairs. The experimental correlation functions have been described in the frame of a model based on the p-n interaction. The first preliminary measurement of pi-Teta correlations has been performed, allowing to extract information about the freeze-out time and the space-time asymmetries in particle emission closely related to the transverse radial expansion and decay of resonances.

This multi-institutional study of undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in online degree programs explored student perceptions of required student-to-student interactions. Using a semi-structured interview methodology, thirty-three students participated in the study. While all of the students had experience with the required discussion board interactions of posting and responding, a majority of the students reported experience with other types of required student-to-student interactions including group projects, group presentations, peer reviews, and, for a few, discussions within the required synchronous sessions. The findings indicate that while most value the concept of peer-to-peer interaction in online courses, many found the required assignments lacking in authenticity and not a good use of their time. Some students reported satisfaction with one or more of the requirements such as small group assignments when time was allowed for coordination, small group discussions, and selected discussion board posts. The students valued the interactions most when those interactions were relevant to their careers. These findings encourage taking the demographic realities of students studying online into consideration when incorporating student-to-student interactions into courses. Many have family and other obligations, so they are particularly sensitive to work that appears to be trivial or unnecessary. Hence, learning elements such as peer-to-peer interactions should be incorporated into courses intentionally and with purpose so that the interactions do not appear to be busy-work or checking an interaction box.

Adverse reaction reports from the Regional Pharmacovigilance Center in Wroclaw, the pharmaceutical company PPF Hasco-Lek, and VigiAccess and EudraVigilance databases were analyzed. Based on the analysis of the data collected from the above sources, nifuroxazide have shown a high therapeutic value in the gastrointestinal tract infections, maintaining high safety of usage at the same time. The number of drug application adverse reactions in Poland is not so high primarily due to high safety profile and low patient awareness of the possibility of reporting drug side effects.

The article draws attention to the potential significance of Herbert Blumer’s heritage in the sociological analysis of the issues with which modern democracy has to deal. It aims to strengthen that current of interpretation pertaining to symbolic interactionism which opposes the widespread tendency to consider it as amicrosociological orientation. The article emphasizesmedium-range phenomena-in other words, mesosociological problems of organizations, interest groups and social movements. Blumer helped George H. Mead’s ideas, including the basic concept of the self, find a fuller application in sociology. To properly evaluate Blumer’s achievements, one should consider him as a researcher of the changes occurring in modern societies in general. He emphasized the existence of a constant process of defining and redefining social institutions, and thus, the role of civic agency-in other words, ultimately, of the reflexive self. In Blumer’s conceptions of symbolic interaction, joint action and negotiated order one may see an elaboration of the interactional order of the democratic society.

Red basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) cv. Red Rubin was cultivated in model pot experiment in the soil amended by arsenic, cadmium and lead solutions in stepwise concentrations representing the soil concentration levels of former mining area in the vicinity of Příbram, Czech Republic. The element levels added to the soil reached up to 40 mg Cd, 100 mg As, and 2000 mg Pb per kg of soil. Moreover, essential macro-and microelements as well as cyanidine contents were investigated to assess their potential interactions with the risk elements. The extractable element portions in soils determined at the end of vegetation period differed according to the individual elements. Whereas the plant-available (extractable with 0.11M CH3COOH) content of Cd represented 70-100% of the added Cd, the mobile portion of Pb did not exceed 1%. The risk element content in plants reflected the increasing element contents in soil. The dominant element portions remained in plant roots indicating the limited translocation ability of risk elements to the aboveground biomass of this plant species. Although the risk element contents in amended plants significantly increased, no visible symptoms of phytotoxicity occurred. However, the effect of enhanced risk element contents on the essential element uptake was assessed. Considering inter-element relationships, elevated sulphur levels were seen in amended plants, indicating its possible role of phytochelatin synthesis in the plants. Moreover, the molybdenum contents in plant biomass dropped down with increasing risk element uptake by plants confirming As-Mo and Cd-Mo antagonism. The increasing content of cyanidine in the plant biomass confirmed possible role of anthocyanins in detoxification mechanism of risk element contaminated plants and suggested the importance of anthocyanin pigments for risk element tolerance of plants growing in contaminated areas.

2,4-Dinitroanisole (DNAN) has excellent properties as a replacement for 1,3,5-trinitrotoluene (TNT) in melt-cast explosives, and the polymeric modifier used is critical to the mechanical modification of the DNAN/RDX energetic composite. In our research, the typical polymeric modifier acrolein-pentaerythritol resin (APER) was successfully added experimentally to the DNAN/RDX system, and the effects of interfacial interactions on the mechanical properties of these polymers in reinforcing the DNAN/RDX energetic composites were investigated by molecular dynamics simulations, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and mechanical testing. The results showed that strong attractive interactions exist between the polymer and the explosives, wherein van der Waals forces were found to play the main role. The morphological micro-images also showed tight binding between the polymer/explosive interfaces, which supported the calculated strong interfacial interactions. The mechanical tests confirmed that adding the polymers can obviously reinforce the mechanical strength and toughness of DNAN/RDX systems. The above observations revealed that the cooperative effects of the APER polymer can help to reinforce the interfacial interactions and mechanical properties of DNAN/RDX composites, which is of importance in the formulation and mechanical evaluation of advanced energetic composites.

Opis:
Recent interest in the effects of streambed and near-subsurface (benthic and hyporheic) processes on stream ecosystems has motivated study of the hydrodynamics of stream-subsurface interactions. Hydrodynamic transport places an important control on the delivery of reactive species such as contaminants and ecologically-relevant substances such as nutrients to the benthic and hyporheic zones. Conversely, biological pro-cesses such as biofilm growth and physicochemical processes such as colloid deposition can alter the transport environment within sedimentary systems. Multiple feedbacks between biological, chemical, and transport processes make these interfacial sedimentary environments very com-plex. Experimental results are presented to illustrate the feedbacks be-tween hydrodynamic stream-subsurface exchange, biofilm development, and fine particle deposition. These studies demonstrate that a compre-hensive interdisciplinary approach is required to assess even the most basic dynamic processes in these systems, such as the evolution of in-terfacial fluxes over time. We suggest that it is useful to consider these processes to be biophysicochemical in nature. That is, in such complex environmental systems, it is misleading to attempt to consider processes in isolation; rather, understanding of system dynamics can only come from an integrated approach that considers feedbacks among and be-tween biological, physical, and chemical processes.

In this work investigations of structure and magnetic properties of conventionally sintered Bim+1Ti3Fem.3O3m+3 compounds with 4 less-than or equal to m less-than or equal to 8 were performed using X-ray diffraction, Mossbauer spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. Room-temperature Mossbauer spectra of the compounds correspond to a paramagnetic state, however, low temperature measurements (80 K) reveal the antiferromagnetic state with a residual paramagnetic phase. Temperature dependencies of magnetic susceptibility, chi sigma(T), provided magnetic ordering temperatures and revealed an irreversibility in Aurivillius compounds with m greater-than or equal to 5. In the case of Bi5Ti3FeO15 compound the chi sigma(T) dependence shows a paramagnetic behavior down to 2 K. The Bi6Ti3Fe2O18 compound reveals a magnetic ordering at 11 K. The compounds with m = 6-8 show a magnetic ordering at temperatures higher than 200 K. Highly irreversible character of their temperature dependencies of chi sigma indicates a spin-glass type disordered magnetism with frustration due to a random distribution of Fe on Ti at their sites.

The interactions of gas bubbles with particles having rough and heterogeneous surfaces are much more complex than the commonly used DLVO – based models predict. The effects of surface roughness on flotation and particle – bubble interactions have been reported many times in the past, although a clear understanding of their origins has been lacking. To explain differences in interactions for spherical hydrophobic particles, a theoretical analysis of the interaction potential was carried out for a model rough particle interacting with a bubble surface in an electrolyte solution in this study. The attractive hydrophobic interaction potential was added to repulsive retarded van der Waals and repulsive electrical double layer interaction potentials. The rough microscopic particles were modeled as spheres decorated with nano-sized asperities. Parameters that reflect common flotation separation systems were selected for testing this theoretical model and computation of the energy barrier applicable to particle – flat bubble surface interactions. It was found that hydrophobic asperities with a height of only several nanometers can reduce the repulsive interaction energy by an order of magnitude. Theoretical analysis also reveals that surface coverage of microscopic particles by nano-sized asperities is important as well.

Opis:
The paper focuses on assessing wettability of surfaces modified with ionic liquid solutions. Dialkylimidazolium chlorides have been selected as the test group, because of their immediate availabil-ity and limited previous research. Contact angle of selected ionic liquid solutions have been measured with two methods: capillary rise test and simplified sitting droplet analysis, performed by means of digital camera. During tests the extremely high viscosity of dialkylimidazolium chlorides has been observed to drop rapidly with prolonged exposition to atmospheric moisture and measured experimentally with Karl-Fischer titration and viscosity measurements. Contact angles of selected ionic liquids have been presented.

The reflection coefficient of the open end belongs among the essential parameters in the physical description of a flue organ pipe. It leads directly to practical topics such as the pipe scaling. In this article, sound propagation is investigated inside an organ pipe with the most intense mean flow that is achievable under musically relevant conditions. A theoretical model is tested against the experimental data to obtain a suitable formula for the reflection coefficient when a non-negligible flow through the open end is considered. The velocity profile is examined by means of particle image velocimetry. A fully developed turbulent profile is found and interactions of the acoustic boundary layer with the turbulent internal flow are discussed. A higher value of the end correction than expected from the classical result of Levine and Schwinger is found, but this feature shall be associated with the pipe wall thickness rather than the mean flow effects.

In the socialization process, a child learns social interactions, interpersonal relations and coexistence in the group, social standards and standards of conduct. Additionally, children develop their personality and character. One of the most essential part of the socialization process is the preparation to fulfill male and female roles. Preschool significantly affects the formation of gender roles. This research involves interactions between preschoolers and their teachers. Furthermore, it deals with the influence of the interactions on the development of child’s social-cultural gender.
W procesie socjalizacji dziecko uczy się podstaw interakcji społecznych, życia i funkcjonowania w grupie, poznaje społeczne normy postępowania i zachowania, kształtuje swoją osobowość i cechy charakteru.

The single crystals of La0.7Ba0.3(Mn1-xFex)O3 (x ≤ 0.28) and La0.7Ba0.3(Mn1-xAlx)O3 (x ≤ 0.15) compositions were grown using flux method and characterized by X-ray, electrical and magnetization measurements. The replacement of Mn ions by Al ions in the La0.7Ba0.3Mn1-xAlxO3 system leads to a decrease in the temperature to 311 K for the sample x=0.1. The Fe-doping above x=0.2 destroys a long range ferromagnetic order thus leading to a spin glass state. It is found that insulating spin glasses exhibit a large magnetoresistance in the paramagnetic region that is comparable to that for ferromagnetic crystals showing metal–insulator transition near TC.
Monokryształy La0,7Ba0,3(Mn1-xFex)O3 (x ≤ 0,28) i La 0,7Ba 0,3 (Mn1-xAlx)O3 (x ≤ 0,15) wyhodowano metodą strumieniową i charakteryzowano poprzez badania rentgenowskie, pomiary elektryczne i magnetyzacyjne. Zastąpienie jonów Mn jonami Al w układzie La0,7Ba0,3Mn1-xAlxO3 prowadzi do obniżenia temperatury do 311 K dla próbki x = 0,1. Domieszka Fe powyżej x = 0,2 niszczy ferromagnetyczny porządek dalekiego zasięgu atomów Fe, prowadząc w ten sposób do spinowego stanu typu szkła.

The structure and hyperfine interactions in the Bi5Ti3FeO15, Bi6Ti3Fe2O18 and Bi7Ti3Fe3O21 multiferroic ceramics were studied using X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Samples were prepared by mechanical activation process in a high-energy ball mill from a mixture of TiO2, Fe2O3 and Bi2O3 oxides as polycrystalline precursor materials. The mechanical milling process was completed by thermal processing. A pure single-phased material was obtained in the case of Bi7Ti3Fe3O21 compound. The proposed mechanical activation technology allows to produce the Aurivillius compounds at lower temperature, by about 50 K, as compared to the solid-state sintering method.

Arrays of Fe3O4 nanowires embedded in mesoporous ordered silica were obtained in two ways: dissolving Fe3+ ions in an aqueous medium and their adsorption on internal and external surfaces, with the use of a Fe-EDTA complex. Magnetite polycrystalline nanowires were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction and 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy (MS). The average length of these nanowires is about 70 nm and their diameter is about 3 nm. Mössbauer studies evidenced that the composites consist of very small Fe3O4 particles. Almost 80% of particles exist in a paramagnetic state.

Theoretical velocities of binary liquid mixtures of 1-bromopropane with chlorobenzene at 2 MHz and four different temperatures 303.15, 308.15, 313.15 and 318.15 K, have been evaluated as a function of concentration and temperature. The experimental values are compared with theoretical models of liquid mixtures such as Nomoto, Van Dael-Vangeel, Impedance Relation, Rao’s Specific Velocity Method, Junjie’s relations and Free Length Theory. In the chosen system there is a good agreement between experimental and theoretical values calculated by Nomoto’s theory. The deviation in the variation of U2exp/ U2imx from unity has also been evaluated for explaining the non ideality in the mixtures. The results are explained in terms of intermolecular interactions occurring in these binary liquid mixtures.

The paper presents selected problems of the coexistence of chronic pain and depression . It has been assumed that chronic pain and depression make two se parate ailments that often coexist. The phenomenon of the coexistence of physical symptoms (including pain) and depression have been widely popularised. Over 65% of patients with pain ailments suffer from depression that is often undiagnosed. The therapi sts specify this phenomenon as a “closed circle”, as it is not known what the beginning of its appearance was. On one hand, pain often hides the symptoms of depression so effectively that its recognition by a physician seems impossible; on the other, it is known that chronic pain causes continual lowering of mood and depression that increases pain ailments. Moreover, the existence of common neurobiological mechanisms makes depression and pain escalate mutually.

Opis:
Below the melting point temperature of lipids, artificial lipid membranes usually exist in the ordered gel phase. Above these temperatures lipid acyl chains become fluid and disordered (liquid-crystalline phase). Depending on the chemical composition of artificial membranes, phase separation may occur, leading to the formation of transient or stable membrane domains. A similar phase separation of lipids into ordered and disordered domains has been observed in natural membranes at physiological temperature range. Moreover, it has been reported that certain proteins prefer certain organization of lipids, as for example glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored proteins or Src family of tyrosine kinases. The aim of present review is to discuss the possibility that some lipid microdomains are induced or stabilized by lipid-binding proteins that under certain conditions, for example due to a rise of cytosolic Ca2+ or pH changes, may attach to the membrane surface, inducing clustering of lipid molecules and creation of ordered lipid microdomains. These domains may than attract other cytosolic proteins, either enzymes or regulatory proteins. It is, therefore, postulated that lipid microdomains play important roles within a cell, in signal transduction and enzymatic catalysis, and also in various pathological states, as Alzheimer's disease, anti-phosphatidylserine syndrome, or development of multidrug resistance of cancer cells.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) on benzene hematotoxicity in rats. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out on rats exposed for 2, 4 and 8 weeks to benzene vapour at a conentration of 1.5 or 4.5 mmol/m³ of air (5 days per week, 6 hours per day) alone or together with ASA at the doses of 5, 150 or 300 mg/kg body weight (per os). Results: Benzene at a concentration of 4.5 mmol/m³ caused a slight lymphopenia, granulocytosis and reticulocytosis in blood. In bone marrow traits of megaloblastic renewal, presence of undifferentiated cells and giant forms of granulocytes as well as an increase in myeloperoxidase and decrease in chloroacetate esterase activity and lipids content were noted. ASA (150 and 300 mg/kg b.w.) influenced some of hematological parameters, altered by benzene intoxication. ASA limited the solvent-induced alteration in blood reticulocyte count and in the case of bone marrow in the erythroblasts count. Traits of megaloblastic renewal in bone marrow were less pronounced. Besides, higher activity of myeloperoxidase and the decrease in the level of lipids in granulocytes were noted. Conclusion: Our results suggest that ASA limited the benzene-induced hematotoxicity.

Interactions between drugs and food are still an unexplored and unclear area. That’s why patients, doctors and pharmacists sometimes don’t fully understand and realize existing dangers. In the neuroleptic group, the interactions pertain to popular food products such as coffee, tea (due to the presence of tannin), caffeine products and salt. Lowering of absorption, changes of metabolism, defective excretion may result in reduction or absence of effectiveness of therapy or intensive, unwanted effects and dangerous complications. The article describes the phenomenon of interaction of neuroleptics with food products and offers recommendations which allow their reduction.

The phenomenon of interaction between simultaneously applied substances can substantially change the effectiveness of pharmacotherapy. While the effects of stimulants on therapy or mutual interactions between medicines are well known, the interactions between medicines and substances in foods have not received sufficient attention. Numerous anxiolytics can enter into interactions with such products as milk, garlic, caffeine, grapefruit juice. The resulting change in pharmacokinetics or pharmacodynamics can have significant influence on the effects of treatment.

Opis:
The Moszczenica is a lowland river, which is a third-order river with a length of 55 km; it flows into the Bzura River in central Poland. The objective of this study was to evaluate two important factors in the exchange between surface water and groundwater in the hyporheic zone: a considerable change in water flow conditions and various origins of riverbed sections, natural and artificial. To identify the spatial variation of the hydraulic gradient in the hyporheic zone of the river, a gradientmeter was applied. The measurements show that at low water stages, upwelling was dominant, with an evidently inactive zone, whereas downwelling was inconsiderable. However, the morphology of the riverbed changed during the flood flow, and downwelling clearly dominated. Upwelling zones retained their activity despite a major change in hydrological conditions. Present studies on the artificially dug Moszczenica Canal have documented outflow of water from an artificial medieval canal to a naturally formed drainage base. This means that despite the passage of hundreds of years, the natural drainage base of the Moszczenica River is still active. Studies have demonstrated the applicability of the gradientmeter for evaluating the interaction between surface and ground-waters in the hyporheic zone.

We consider a boundary regime problem for 1D wave propagation in a metamaterial medium with simultaneously negative dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability. We apply a projecting operator method to the Maxwell system in the time domain that allows the space of the linear propagation problem to be split into subspaces of directed waves for the relations of a given material with general dispersion. After projection, the equations for directed waves have a maximally simplified form, which is most convenient for numerical and analytical integration. Matrix elements of the projectors act as integral operators. For a given nonlinearity and dispersion we derive a general system of interacting right/left waves with combined (hybrid) amplitudes. The result is specified for the Drude metamaterial model for both permittivity and permeability coefficients and the Kerr nonlinearity. We also discuss and investigate singular solitary wave solutions of the system as a limit stationary elliptic system related to some boundary regimes.

Opis:
Observing our life in the modern world of today’s technology, the author is wondering whether we are facing sensitization or desensitization of technology users. The problem is discussed in the context of technomorphization of humans on the one hand, and anthropomorphisation of machines on the other. In the analysis the sociological approach is confronted with other perspectives, particularly the cognitive and anthropological ones, which are inevitable in HMI (human-machine interaction) studies. The author concludes by trying to answer a number of questions: Are we truly experiencing technomorphization? Is it only bringing us harm, or does it also have something useful to offer? Can the technology support sensitivity? And finally, will the machines themselves not turn out to be pre-programmed for sensitivity in the future?

Opis:
Lopinavir (LPV) and ritonavir (RTV) are anti-viral drugs used in combination and commonly prepared through hot-melt extrusion techniques. Mechanical processes are greatly involved, including blending and milling. Therefore, the crystal behaviour of LPV and RTV under the mechanical process is an interesting study. Here, the LPV, RTV, and their mixtures were processed by two different treatments: grinding and compression processes. The solid-state properties of the drugs were evaluated by powder x-ray diffraction (PXRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Single-crystal XRD analysis was also carried out to confirm the packing structure in the crystal lattice. It was observed that LPV was very sensitive to the grinding process, where it tends to form an amorphous solid in both the pure and mixture forms. On the other hand, RTV has a very stable crystalline structure and was able to retain its crystallinity even under grinding. Both LPV and RTV were observed to be quite stable under compression, where both retained their crystalline form with only slight changes in their d-spacing values. This study highlighted the molecular origin of LPV and RTV crystal behaviour after grinding and compression processes.

Opis:
A fast evolution of science and technology often raises controversies. Numerous cases of research results which had been questioned or rejected by public opinion have clearly demonstrated that public concerns can be neither ignored nor reduced to the question of risk. Science no longer enjoys a special status and society is getting more and more concerned about the purposes and motivations of research, and demands to be included in the decision making process on research agenda. The article presents a concept of Responsible Research and Innovation – its roots and potential to address the problem of (a lack of) legitimacy without doing harm to research. The author points also that the concept of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) raises a lot of controversies. It looks like yet another attempt to manage science and to steer it more towards politically defined goals. Although it calls for public opinion to be more involved in setting agenda for research, it does not explain clearly how this involvement should actually be organized to be labelled “responsible”. When analysed in depth, RRI appears to be quite complicated as it defines responsible research and innovation both through their outcomes and through a set of requirements that research and innovation processes should fulfil. Finally, it causes confusion since it gathers too many differing aspects of research and innovation-related activities under the same roof.
Szybki rozwój nauki i technologii często budzi kontrowersje.

We consider fiscal and monetary policy interactions in a monetary union under monetary leadership, when the common central bank is concerned with the average fiscal stance of the union. We use a static two-country monetary union model to investigate the policy-mix problem under different regimes of noncooperation, cooperation, and enforced cooperation among fiscal authorities. We find that fiscal policy is unambiguously countercyclical, a feature that is more pronounced under fiscal policy cooperation. Monetary policy can be either countercyclical or procyclical. A central bank concerned about the aggregate fiscal stance is effective in stabilizing output and central budget, but at the expense of inflation stabilization.

klozapina
Opis:
Clozapine is an agent which undergoes intensive cytochrome P450-mediated hepatic metabolism (mainly by 1A2 and, to a lesser extent, by 3A4 and 2D6). The combined use of clozapine with drugs that inhibit these isoenzymes, such as ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, elevates clozapine serum levels, thus increasing the risk or severity of adverse effects and complications typical of clozapine therapy. At the same time, enzymatic inductors (e.g. rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, St. John’s wort, nicotine, cannabinols) might contribute to reduced efficacy or, after their rapid discontinuation, toxicity of clozapine. The occurrence of synergistic adverse effects due to pharmacodynamic properties is another aspect of the interactions of clozapine with other agents. Sedative, hypotonic, anticholinergic, myelotoxic, and convulsive effects might increase after a simultaneous use of clozapine and other agents inducing the same adverse effects. Clozapine should be used with particular caution during infectious diseases as some of antibiotics (e.g. macrolides) as well as other antimicrobials (e.g. fluorochinolones) and antifungals (mainly azoles) may, by inhibiting clozapine metabolism, increase its myelotoxicity. On the other hand, synergistic myelotoxic effects of clozapine and some of antibiotics (clindamycin, metronidazole) or antipyretic and anti-inflammatory agents (e.g. ibuprofen, paracetamol, metamizole) may occur. Due to the high risk of interactions, clozapine is intended mainly for monotherapy. However, knowledge of the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of clozapine, and thus its potential interactions, allows to include this agent, if necessary, in combined therapy, provided that the necessary precautions are taken.
Klozapina to lek podlegający intensywnemu metabolizmowi wątrobowemu z udziałem izoenzymów cytochromu P450 (głównie 1A2, w mniejszym stopniu 3A4 i 2D6).

Developmental co-influence of generation in family. Parents in the middle-age and their adolescent childrenThe main attention in the article is paid to the problem of correspondence between the development of middle-aged adults and their adolescent child. The most important experience is achieved in the family, so the family is called the primary context of human development. Performing parental roles is an activity which is conducive to human development. The variety of changes in adolescence and their peculiarity cause the relationship between parents and adolescents to be problematic, so parents should be very sensitive and candid to children’s problems. They must be flexible as tutors. Activity in the middle-age, which contains different parents’ behaviour, such as being interested in their adolescent children, helping them in their maturation and permission to their growing autonomy bring about a sense of being creative and protect people in this stage of life from the selfish concentration on their own problems. So children could be a chance for a parent’s development, chance of satisfying the need of giving and creating in relation to the younger generation, the need characteristic of this developmental stage. On the other hand adolescents need their parents to grow to be adult, need their emotional and instrumental assistance.Middle-aged parents who lack awareness of the growing teenager's need of developmental changes do not stimulate the child's development and, more importantly, delay the child's and their own personal development. Reciprocal dependence both of the generation in this stage of developmental changes is evident in particular.

Multiferroic 0.5BiFeO3-0.5Pb(Fe0.5Ta0.5)O3 solid solution is a material that exhibits ferroelectric and antiferromagnetic orderings in ambient temperature. The solid solution was obtained as a result of a conventional reaction in a solid state. The obtained material is a dense, fine-grained sinter whose surface was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and stoichiometry was confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopic (EDS) analysis. According to the X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) measurements, the main phase is R3c space group with admixture of Pm-3m regular phase. Small contribution of pyrochlore-like phase was also observed. Mössbauer spectroscopy suggested random distribution of Fe3+/Ta5+ cations in the B sites of ABO3 compound. Reduction of the magnetic hyperfine field with an increase in the substitution of Ta5+ in Fe3+ neighbourhood was also observed.

The most important setting for early literary learning is reading-aloud interactions within families. Children gather fundamental experiences with literature as a dialogic imagination with a competent partner who scaffolds the literary learning processes within a temporary supportive interpersonal framework, which can be described as a learning format. The process of experiencing literature is not only determined by reading-aloud and listening but also by multimodal activities and emotions that accompany the reading interaction. Emotions in reading-aloud therefore are more than a para-verbal way of reading or a way to gain joint attention. The performative perspective on reading-aloud formats shows different activities that help the adult and child to establish and experience their interaction as an event. This qualitative case study examines videotaped reading-aloud interactions in which adults and children create the event of reading as a shared goal. The results suggest different categories to describe performative processes and effects. The aim of the study is to discuss the idea of performative reading and present didactic conclusions with regard to the experience of literature in early reading-aloud interactions.

Opis:
According to a common belief, southern Poland was a typical area of Early Neolithic settlements which was rarely exploited and even ignored by Mesolithic communities. However, the prehistoric reality was more complex. Indeed, the zones largely omitted by the hunter-gatherers were fertile loess uplands and foothills settled by the first Neolithic farmers (Linear Band Pottery culture) in the third quarter of the 6th millennium BC. However, such ecological zones are by no means the only or even predominant zones within the territory in question. Areas with other ecological conditions, mainly those close to the Polish Lowland, yielded surprisingly numerous remains of Mesolithic settlements, including late Mesolithic ones. Radiocarbon data makes it clear that the Late Mesolithic communities coexisted with their Neolithic counterparts. However, the temporal dimension of this coexistence remains a debatable and controversial issue. Nevertheless, it is highly probable that the late hunter-gatherers would use ‘their own’ pottery also in southern Poland. Similarly to many other European regions, the anthropological and historical interpretations that describe and explain the interactions between early farmers and late hunter-gatherers in southern Poland (as well as archaeologically discernible transformations within the latter group) are difficult to construct. It is even more difficult to assess the role played by hunter-gatherers in the neolithisation of this territory. This paper presents and analyses the relevant chronological, chorological, settlement, and typological data. As a result, the hypothesis that the hunter-gatherer communities were but ‘passive’ witnesses to the first neolithisation and functioned independently at least throughout the entire Neolithic period was considered most probable.

Opis:
Beneficial effects of aronia phenolics are determined by their interactions with dietary fibers, such as beta-glucan. The aim of this research was to study interactions between aronia phenolics and beta-glucan by investigating the adsorption process. Phenolic compounds were extracted from aronia, analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography, and adsorbed onto beta-glucan at pH 1.5. The adsorption data were modeled by using Langmuir, Dubinin-Radushkevich, and Hill isotherms with a novel non-linear regression developed especially for adsorption isotherms. Aronia phenolics adsorbed onto beta-glucan in amounts 31-250 mg/g (individual anthocyanins), 44-123 mg/g (individual flavonols), and 51 mg/g (neochlorogenic acid). The correlation between adsorption capacities and phenolic content was high (r2=0.94), which suggested that the adsorption might be concentration dependent. Modeling with a novel non-linear regression allowed more precise determination of adsorption isotherm parameters. Furthermore, there was a correlation between maximum adsorption capacities predicted by models and measured adsorption capacities (r2 0.76, 0.81, and 0.34 for Langmuir, Dubinin-Radushevich, Hill isotherms, respectively). The suggested bonds involved in interactions are non-covalent bonds (H bonds, Van der Waals forces). Principal component analysis showed that anthocyanins, flavonols, and phenolic acids could differently behave in the adsorption process, which could be due to differences in the chemical structures (ionic nature of anthocyanins, nonionic nature of flavonols and phenolic acids at low pH). In conclusion, aronia phenolics interacted with beta-glucan by adsorbing onto its surface, and the novel modeling developed by our team was helpful in the interpretation of this process. Interactions should be further studied due to their importance for the beneficial effects of aronia.

Opis:
The additive main effect and multiplicative interaction (AMMI) analysis has been indicated to be effective in interpreting complex genotype by environment (GE) interactions of lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) multi- environmental trials. Eighteen improved lentil genotypes were grown in 12 semiarid environments in Iran from 2007 to 2009. Complex GE interactions are difficult to understand with ordinary analysis of variance (ANOVA) or conventional stability methods. Combined analysis of variance indicated the genotype by loca- tion interaction (GL) and three way interactions (GYL) were highly significant. FGH1 and FGH2 tests indicated the five  significant  components; FRatio  showed  three significant  components  and F-Gollob detected  seven significant components. The RMSPD (root mean square predicted difference) values of validation procedure indicated seven significant components. Using five components in AMMI  stability parameters (EVFI, SIP- CFI, AMGEFI and DFI) indicated that genotypes G5 and G6 were the most stable genotypes while consider- ing three components in of AMMI stability parameters (EVFII, SIPCFII, AMGEFII and DFII) showed that genotypes G8 and G18 were the most stable genotypes. Also genotypes G2, G5 and G18 were the most stable genotypes according to AMMI stability parameters which calculated from seven components  (EVFIII, SIP- CFIII, AMGEFIII and DFIII). Among these stable genotypes, only genotypes G2 (1365.63 kg × ha-1), G11 (1374.13 kg × ha-1) and G12 (1334.73 kg × ha-1) had high mean yield and so could be regarded as the most favorable genotype. These genotypes are therefore recommended for release as commercial cultivars

The release of influenza RNA inside the host cell occurs through the fusion of two membranes, the viral envelope and that of the cellular endosome. The fusion is mediated by the influenza hemagglutinin protein (HA), in particular by the fusion peptide (HAfp) located in the N-terminal fragment of HA2 subunit. This protein fragment anchors in the internal endosomal membrane, whereas the C-terminal HA2 part comprises a transmembrane domain (TMD) embedded in the viral envelope. A drop of pH in the endosome acts as the main trigger for HA2 large conformational change that leads to anchoring of the fusion peptide, close contact of the membranes and the subsequent fusion. Throughout the years the major research effort was focused on a 20-aminoacid fragment (HAfp1-20), shown by NMR to adopt a 'boomerang'-like structure. However, recent studies showed that extending HAfp1-20 by three highly conserved residues W21-Y22-G23 leads to formation of a unique, tight helical hairpin structure. This review summarizes recently discovered structural aspects of influenza fusion peptides and their relations with the membrane fusion mechanism.

Density (ρ), Sound velocity (U) and viscosity (ɳ) of pure solvent N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and solutions of pyrazolo quinazoline derivatives in DMF were taken at different concentration range and at different temperatures by using Antone paar. From these experimental data, some acoustical parameters such as adiabatic compressibility (κs), intermolecular free length (Lf), solvation number (Sn), apparent molar compressibility (fk), apparent molar volume (fv), internal pressure (π) etc., have been determined and correlated with the concentration (C).With concentration and temperatures, Linear or non-linear increases or decreases of acoustical parameters shows the existence of strong molecular interactions between solute and solvent. The results are interpreted in terms of solute-solute and solute-solvent interactions to understand the behavior of synthesized compounds in solutions.

Abstract Room temperature 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction measurements are reported for a series of Y1 xTixFe2 polycrystalline samples. Our research shows that except for x = 0 and x = 1, the samples are a mixture of two C15 and C14 pseudobinary Laves phases. Some Ti atoms occupy the crystallographic positions 8a characteristic of the Y atoms in the cubic C15 structure while the rest of them form the hexagonal C14 phase. However, the lattice constant dependencies on concentration x suggest the occurrence of Y atoms in the positions 4f characteristic of Ti atoms in the hexagonal C14 structure. The partial substitution of Ti atoms for Y atoms is responsible for the HMF changes in the cubic phase. Contrary to the situation taking place in the Zr1 xTixFe2 compounds, magnetic arrangement in the pseudobinary hexagonal phases is not observed at room temperature.

Th e eff ect of loose kernel smut fungus Sporisorium cruentum on Sorghum halepense (Johnson grass) was investigated in vitro and in greenhouse experiments. Smut infection induced a decrease in the dry matter of rhizomes and aerial vegetative parts of the plants evaluated. Moreover, the diseased plants showed a lower height than controls. The infection resulted in multiple smutted buds that caused small panicles infected with the fungus. In addition, changes were observed in the structural morphology of the host. Leaf tissue sections showed hyphae degrading chloroplasts and vascular bundles colonized by the fungus. Subsequently, cells collapsed and widespread necrosis was observed as a symptom of the disease. Th e pathogen did not colonize the gynoecium of Sorghum plants until the tassel was fully developed. The sporulation process of the fungus led to a total disintegration of anthers and tissues. When panicles were inspected before emergence, fungal hyphae were observed on floral primord. Histological sections of panicles showed fungal hyphae located in the parenchyma tissue and the nodal area. Infection occurred in the floral primordium before the tassel had fully developed and emerged from the flag leaf. Grains were replaced by sori surrounded by a thin membrane that usually was broken before or after the emergence of the panicle. The results, together with the significant decrease of the dry matter of rhizomes and seeds of S. halepense, suggest that S. cruentum could be considered as a potential biocontrol agent in the integrated management of this weed.

plant–bacteria–animal interactions
Opis:
Plant–animal interactions are not isolated pairwise relationships but are always accompanied by diverse assemblages of microbes. Additional to direct effects of microorganisms on their hosts, recent investigations demonstrated that bacteria associated with plants can modify the behavior of organisms of higher trophic levels. However, in the context of herbivory, functions of non-phytopathogenic bacteria colonizing leaf surfaces remain understudied. This study showed that naturally occurring epiphytic bacteria affect the feeding behavior of a generalist herbivore. Epiphytic bacteria isolated from leaves of Lactuca sativa var. capitata were screened for their potential to influence feeding choices of the slug Arion vulgaris. Cultivatedbacteria were inoculated in artificial food substrates or on sterile leaves of gnotobiotic lettuce plants and were offered to slugs in different behavioral bioassays. A large proportion of bacterial strains tested induced behavioral alterations in the feeding choices of slugs. Behavioral responses of slugs were further modified by antibiotic treatment of slugs prior to choice tests indicating that both bacteria associated with plants and animals affect plant–animal interactions. Our results emphasize the important role of bacteria in plant–animal interactions and suggest a prominent role of bacteria in herbivory in natural, horticultural, and agricultural systems.

Opis:
Magnetorheological elastomers (MREs) are the materials with rheological properties which can be changed in a continuous way, rapidly and reversibly by the applied magnetic field. They are the solid analogues of magnetorheological fluids (MRFs), consisting of magnetically permeable particles (such as iron) added to a viscoelastic polymeric material prior to crosslinking. In the paper the introduction to the n-body simulation of the MRE microstructure forming process is presented. First, the basics of the n-body problem are presented as the planar three-body problem. It is well known, that the planar three-body problem is the problem describing the motion of three point masses in the plane under their mutual Newtonian gravitation. In the paper it is shown how that problem will be applied to the simulation of the phenomena that appeared when the external magnetic field is applied to the chaotically mixed iron particles in the liquid elastomer. Also the physical model of the interactions occurred in such structures are described. The assumptions shown in the paper will be then used for the development of the computer program which calculates the interactions between iron dipoles and describes the movement of the particles in the liquid elastomer under the magnetic field.

Measurements of X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer effect were made on a series of Y1-xScxFe2 polycrystalline samples (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.5, 0.7, 0.8, 1.0). It was found that the system has the cubic MgCu2 structure except for x = 1.0 where hexagonal MgZn2 structure type is stable. The lattice constant decreases with increasing x. The results of Mössbauer effect study at room temperature show that the easy axes of magnetization remain in the <111> direction for the cubic samples and <100> for the hexagonal one. Curie temperatures TC were determined from temperature dependence of the hyperfine magnetic fields. The concentration dependence of the hyperfine fields and TC show similar trends, exhibiting a maximum at x = 0.8. The magnetic and structural behaviour show that, in spite of being isoelectronic, the substitution of Y by Sc induces clear changes in the structural and magnetic properties of the compounds under investigation.

Opis:
Mechanical alloying method was applied to prepare nanocrystalline iron-based Fe1-xZnx solid solutions with x in the range 0.01 ≤ x ≤ 0.05. The structural properties of the materials were investigated with the Mössbauer spectroscopy by measuring the room temperature spectra of 57Fe for as-obtained and annealed samples. The spectra were analyzed in terms of parameters of their components related to unlike surroundings of the iron probes, determined by different numbers of zinc atoms existing in the neighborhood of iron atoms. The obtained results gave clear evidence that after annealing process, the distribution of impurity atoms in the fi rst coordination spheres of 57Fe nuclei is not random and it cannot be described by binomial distribution. The estimated, positive values of the short-range order parameters suggest clustering tendencies of Zn atoms in the Fe-Zn alloys with low zinc concentration. The results were compared with corresponding data derived from Calphad calculation and resulting from the cellular atomic model of alloys by Miedema.

The man is born as the biological being, only under the influence of the culture of the determined society is becoming a social being. The culture just constitutes it for the man “something” of what they must “to teach” in order to function in determined social environment, but it with process, which “is leading” individual there is exactly a process of the socialization into the social life. And so it is process of happening so, with which our social environment wants to have us. Not less, social contents we are assimilating which in the course of the process rarely provide functioning which would match requirements of the society entirely for the socialization. But very society is also establishing certain degree of the divergence which crossing regards as the more or less dangerous manifestation of the social maladjustment and disturbing the process of the socialization.

During interactions, system actors may face up misunderstandings when their local states contain inconsistent data about the same fact. Misunderstandings in interactions are likely to reduce interactivity performances (deviation or deadlock) or even affect overall system behavior. In this paper, we characterize misunderstandings in interactions between system actors (that may be human users or system agents) in interactive adaptive systems. To deal with such misunderstandings and ensure state consistency, we present an agent-based architecture and a scenario structuring approach. The system includes several agents devoted to scenario unfolding, plot adaptation and consistency management. Scenario structuring is based on the notion of a situation that is an elementary building block dividing the interactions between systems’ actors into contextual scenes. This pattern supports not only scenario execution but consistency management as well. In order to organize and control interactions, the situation contextualizes interactions and activity of the system’s actors. It also includes prevention and tolerance agent-based mechanisms to deal with the misunderstandings and their causes. We validate our consistency management mechanisms using Uppaal simulation and provide some experimental results to show the effectiveness of our approach on an online distance learning case study.

Introduction. Triple-therapy with antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) is usually prescribed for epilepsy patients, whose seizures are not fully controlled with standard medications. Although 25 various AEDs are currently licensed for treating epilepsy, no algorithms allowing for the proper combination of AEDs are available. Objective. The aim of the study is to isobolographically assess the type of interaction among three AEDs (lacosamide [LCM], phenobarbital [PB] and valproate [VPA]), in the model of tonic-clonic seizures in mice. Materials and Method. The electrically-evoked (25 mA, 500 V, 50 Hz, 0.2 s of stimulus duration) tonic-clonic seizures in male albino Swiss mice allowed determination of the anticonvulsant action of the three-drug mixture of LCM, PB and VPA combined in a dose ratio of 1:1:1 by means of type I isobolographic analysis of interaction. Results. The experimentally-determined ED50 exp value for the three-drug mixture was 112.04 mg/kg and did not differ from the theoretically calculated ED50 add value, which was 112.36 mg/kg. Lack of statistical significance confirmed that the mixture of LCM, PB and VPA in a dose-ratio of 1:1:1 exerted additive interaction in the mouse tonic-clonic seizure model. Conclusions. Although the three-drug combination of LCM, PB and VPA produced additive interaction in the mouse tonic-clonic seizure model, the three-drug combination could be recommended for epilepsy patients whose seizures are refractory to the standard medication.

A tentative procedure applied to the search for a new antagonist of neurokinin A (NKA) is presented. In parallel a tentative 3-D model of the NK2 receptor was created, using bacteriorhodopsin (BRD) as a template. The residue substitutions were performed in BRD to obtain the sequence for NK2R_H and the seven a-helical segments were optimized forcing the a-helical backbone to match the corresponding aligned parts of BRD, while the arrangements of the side chains were model built based on available site-directed mutagenesis studies. Constrained MM and molecular dynamics simulations were carried out H-bonding a low energy conformer of the known drugs to residues in the receptor site, allowing both the receptor site and drugs to relax. The Connolly surface for each ligand allowed to determine an "average" binding site in which all the low energy conformers of known and prospective drugs were docked and classified according to a statistical index. The whole procedure was repeated exploiting the lately published structure of an actual G protein coupled receptor as a better template, thus producing a cavity in the binding site to directly dock the drugs. Corollary validations of the force fields used are also mentioned. In addition intra- and intermolecular interactions suitable to produce more active drugs were evaluated.
