Opis:: We prove in this paper that any maximal, with respect to inclusion, subset of N – the family of all increasing sequences of positive integers – possessing the harmonic series property has the cardinality of the continuum. Moreover, we prove that for any countable (infinite) set exists an "orthogonal" family such that it hold some facts. All facts are proved constructively, by using the modified version of the classical Sierpiński family of increasing sequences having the cardinality of the continuum.

Opis:: Zaprezentowano dorobek kilkunastu pokoleń matematyków, którzy swoimi badaniami przyczynili się do wyjaśnienia znaczenia i roli liczby π w matematyce. W części pierwszej pracy skoncentrowano się na metodach stosowanych w teorii funkcji rzeczywistych, geometrii i teorii liczb. W większości sytuacji starano się odtworzyć rozumowania i techniki rachunkowe, które doprowadziły do tak spektakularnych wyników jak w przypadku wzoru Leibnitza, wzorów Eulera czy związku liczby π z funkcją dzeta Riemanna. Przypomniano o innych sposobach reprezentowania liczby π na przykładzie metody iloczynu Wallisa i nieskończonych ułamków łańcuchowych Eulera. Wspomniano o miejscu liczby π w najpiękniejszym wzorze matematyki – wzorze Eulera oraz o jej związku z inną ważną liczbą, liczbą Eulera.
The paper presents the achievements of several generation of mathematics who contributed by their researching to clarify the meaning and the role of the number π in mathematics. The first part of the paper focuses on methods used in the theory of real functions, geometry and number theory. In most situation, they tried to recreate the reasoning and techniques of accounting which led to such spectacular results as general Leibniz rule, Eulers formula or the relationship of the number π with Riemann zeta function. Other ways of representing number π was reminded in the example of Walls product and Eulers infinite continued fractions. Moreover, the place of number π was mentioned in the greatest formula of mathematics which is Eulers formula and its connection with another important number, Eulers number

Opis:: This paper deals with a new method of constructing mathematical models of complex processes aliquant vibration frequencies, based on the ideas of genetic algorithms. Compared with the method of data handling group, this method makes it possible to synthesize mathematical models of any complexity without selecting the number of rows selection. Moreover, the use of genetic algorithms will significantly reduce the number of calculations when iterating the models. The new point method can be used to predict both the physical phenomena and complicated processes. The authors created the model of changes in the water level in the Dniester river on the basis that the above method gives satisfactory results of forecasting.

Opis:: Ocena jakości energii elektrycznej w sieciach elektroenergetycznych wykorzystuje zestaw wielkości normatywnych i uzupełniających. Wśród tych wielkości znajdują się dwie miary zawartości harmonicznych w napięciu: widmo amplitudowe, czyli zestaw wartości poszczególnych harmonicznych oraz współczynnik odkształcenia THD. W pracy zaprezentowano przykładowe wyniki badań wybranego analizatora harmonicznych HA-2000 przeprowadzone na zaprojektowanym i wykonanym stanowisku pomiarowym. Prezentowane stanowisko pomiarowe umożliwia zadawanie wybranych sygnałów testowych - funkcji okresowych, pozwalających na ocenę dokładności pomiaru zawartości harmonicznych.
The electric power quality evaluation in electrical power networks is a complex measuring task carried out with the use of a set of standard and complementary quantities. Among these quantities two measures of harmonic contents in voltage can be mentioned: spectrum amplitude and coefficient THD. The paper presents examples of the measurement results of selected harmonic analyser - HA-2000, realized on a design measuring position. The measuring position makes it possible to set selected test signals - periodic functions which enable the evaluation of measuring accuracy of harmonic contents.

Opis:: Basics of modelling analog weakly nonlinear amplifiers at higher frequencies for the purpose of nonlinear distortion analysis are addressed in this paper. First, the constitutive relation for this class of amplifiers, with the use of a Volterra series, is formulated. It is the basis for formulation and derivation of the so-called in-network and input-output type descriptions of an amplifier in the time domain, which are then transferred into the multi-frequency domains. Usefulness of the general models achieved, which were not published up to now in the literature, lies in the fact that they can be used for any topology in which the amplifier is incorporated and for any nonlinear distortion measure assumed. Some examples of calculations are given at the end of the paper for cascade and feedback topologies, and for harmonic distortion measure.

Opis:: Harmonic analysis (spectral, Fourier) is especially useful to study the stochastic structure of the temporal series, for it does not require any apriori presuppositions with regards to its parameters. In the present study two temporal series have been analysed. They concerned weekly quotations of two agricultural products (wheat, piglets) from one market in the period of 8 years (416 observations). Harmonic analysis appeared to be a comfortable and effective tool by means of which to identify the structure of the series under study; the model built on the basis of this analysis permitted us to explain over 80% of variability in those series. Therefor we could formulate a conclusion that in the case of the two series the dominating role was is played by long-term cyclical fluctuations, clearer in the case of the prices for piglets. Now in the temporal series of the wheat prices the seasonal fluctuations are clearer.
