Problem-Based Learning (PBL) represents a major development and change in educational practice that continues to have a large impact across subjects and disciplines worldwide. PBL is a successful teaching and learning strategy used to engage students in deep rather than surface learning and where the learning is student focused rather than teacher focused (Biggs,1999). The paper presents the comparison of PBL with traditional learning in the teaching of geography in high school. Comparative analysis of the results of the pedagogical experiment, which included three high schools, 14 classes with 339 students, is carried out. In the statistical analysis of data t-test was used to check the hypothesis on the differences of the arithmetic means. The results of the final test showed that there was a significant difference in the arithmetic means between the students who had taken a PBL course and the students who had taken a traditional course. It can be concluded that PBL has a positive impact on improving student achievement in the learning of geography in elementary and secondary schools.

It is known that the language classroom is the place where teachers and learners come together for interaction and students can learn English in natural settings. Group work is a teaching strategy at all levels of education and researchers have observed that group based assignments and discussions are a common feature of tertiary education. The effective use of group work in the language class can provide a valuable learning experience to students and give them the opportunity to practically experience the language exposure of the ideas presented and strengthen their learning. In this regard, this paper attempts to identify the efficiency of individual and group work teaching strategy of the students to excel at foreign language learning. Then, the paper aims to define the effect of individual and group work of students’ value participation in academic communication. Finally, the paper tries to determine the most effective methods for working in a group and individually with the help of the data obtained with the help of a purpose-designed questionnaire to assess their preference for different teaching methods.

Współczesny człowiek wykonuje coraz więcej zadań wspólnie z innymi. Uczenie się przez współpracę pozostaje ważne, ponieważ efektywna komunikacja w zespole jest kluczowa w wielu dziedzinach życia. Ponadto praca w grupie pozwala uczniom na wzajemne uzupełnianie się, dzielenie się wiedzą i umiejętnościami, co prowadzi do lepszych wyników i zrozumienia materiału. Praca grupowa uczniów edukacji wczesnoszkolnej może być bardzo korzystna, ale wymaga świadomego planowania i przygotowania przez nauczycieli. Przyszli nauczyciele powinni być przeszkoleni w zakresie organizacji i kierowania grupową pracą uczniów. Takie działania przyniosą w przyszłości pozytywne efekty, ponieważ uczniowie potrafią ze sobą współdziałać i rozwiązywać problemy programowe w grupach. Pracodawcy chętnie widzą u siebie absolwentów szkół wyższych umiejących pracować w zespołach. Uczniowie, którzy angażują się we wspólne uczenie się, osiągają lepsze oceny i są bardziej zadowoleni ze swojej edukacji. W artykule omówiona zostanie praca grupowa w szkolnictwie ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem edukacji wczesnoszkolnej.
Modern man performs more and more tasks together with others. Collaborative learning is important because effective team communication is crucial in many areas of life. In addition, group work allows students to complement each other and share knowledge and skills, leading to better performance and understanding of the material. Group work by early childhood education students can be very beneficial, but it requires conscious planning and preparation by teachers. Future teachers should be trained to organise and manage group work of students. Such activities will have positive effects as students will be able to interact well with each other and solve curriculum problems in groups. Employers want graduates who can work in teams. In addition, students who engage in collaborative learning achieve better grades and are more satisfied with their education. This article will discuss group work in education with a particular focus on early childhood education.

Voivodship agricultural advisory centers perform agricultural advisory tasks using for this purpose a number of forms and methods of work. The purpose of this article is to present the essence and advantages of advisory work with farmers` problem groups, both for its participants and the organizer of this way of advisory impact, as well as to propose the use of group form in an agricultural advisory center. The article describes the problem groups established in the Warmian-Masurian Agricultural Advisory Center based in Olsztyn in 2020.

With advances in research environments and the accompanying increase in the complexity of research projects, the range of skills required to carry out research calls for an increase in interdisciplinary and collaborative work. CogNovo, a doctoral training program for 25 PhD students, provided a unique opportunity to observe and analyze collaborative processes. We propose a process-oriented framework for understanding research collaborations along two dimensions: interpersonal and project-related. To illustrate the utility of this process-oriented framework, we apply the framework matrix to several collaborations that emerged within the CogNovo program. The framework that we introduce has several advantages over existing metrics. Firstly, we offer a process-oriented-as opposed to product-oriented-evaluation of interdisciplinary and collaborative endeavors. Secondly, we propose a means of assessment that preserves the distinctive profile (or “fingerprint”) of a given collaborative project, thus capturing the uniqueness of each project and its environment.

Pomimo znacznej liczby opracowań naukowych dotyczących znaczenia interakcji między pracownikami społecznymi a dziećmi w literaturze światowej, to na Litwie niewiele jest takich badań i artykułów naukowych, które koncentrują się na doświadczeniu pracowników socjalnych w zakresie interakcji z dziećmi wrażliwymi. Celem tego artykułu jest zatem przeanalizowanie metod interakcji pracowników socjalnych z dziećmi podatnymi na zagrożenia w ośrodkach opieki dziennej. Sformułowano dwa pytania badawcze: Jakie są najskuteczniejsze, a jakie najmniej skuteczne metody interakcji z dziećmi wrażliwymi w ośrodkach opieki dziennej w Wilnie? W badaniu zdecydowano się na wybór podejścia jakościowego. Dane zebrano za pomocą częściowo ustrukturyzowanych wywiadów, które przeanalizowano za pomocą analizy tematycznej, co pozwoliło na wyodrębnienie trzech głównych kategorii: typowe metody interakcji, najskuteczniejsze metody i najmniej skuteczne metody. Analiza jakościowa danych umożliwiła z kolei wskazanie w ich obrębie podkategorii odnoszących się do różnych działań i aktywności, aby móc orzekać o skuteczności i funkcjonalności terapii grupowej i indywidualnej.
Despite the considerable number of scientific papers on the importance of interactions between social workers and children in world literature, there are only a few studies and scientific papers in Lithuania that focus on the experience of social workers to interact with vulnerable children. The aim of this article is therefore to analyze the methods of interacting social workers with vulnerable children in daycare centers. Two research questions were formulated: what are the most effective and the least effective methods of interacting with sensitive children in the Vilnius daycare centers. The qualitative methodological approach was applied in the study. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews, which were analyzed using thematic analysis, which allowed for the separation of three main categories: common interaction methods, the most effective methods, and the least effective methods. The qualitative analysis of the data enabled, in turn, to indicate within the subcategories of the various activities to be able to rule on the effectiveness and functionality of group and individual therapy.

Background: A common international research area is being created as a result of linked activities of research centres. Aim of the study: To implement an interdisciplinary approach based on the example of a pilot study of lifestyle and identify connections between physical activity levels (PA), health-related behaviours, and the locus of health control among students. Material and methods: The research was carried out using 294 students of human sciences (235 females and 59 males) aged 18-24. A diagnostic survey method was chosen using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), Health-Related Behaviour Inventory (HBI) and Health Locus of Control Scale (MHLC). Results: Total PA was assessed at 3829.3 MET-min/week. The dominant types of activities were walking (1245 MET-min/week) and moderate PA (1254 MET-min/week). Higher values in intensive and moderate efforts were reported among the male students, while women reported higher values in walking. The general severity index HBI is 72-93 points. There were no significant gender-related differences regarding the general indicator (except for the increased frequency of low health-related behaviours among females). Respondents mostly presented with internal locus of control with influence of others being reported less frequently, and accident locus of control least frequently. The analysis revealed a correlation between the internal placement of MHLC and PA among men (r=0.226, p<0.01) and individual HBI indices among women. Conclusions: Most young people present a sufficient level of PA, desirable HBI, and, to a large extent, the internal locus of MHLC. The participants had a greater sense of responsibility for their own health. Females, when deciding on a lifestyle, are more easily influenced by other people. It is necessary to conduct interdisciplinary group work for comparative research in order to create educational and preventive programs addressing identified lifestyle abnormalities.

Pupils’ spontaneous questions and statements represent interesting research material from the point of view of the effects they have on the actions taken by the teacher (explanations, assessment, control, etc.) as well as on the kind of knowledge pupils acquire (about the world and about themselves) as a consequence of the teacher’s actions. The research into the functioning of children in the course of educational activities described in this article is merely an example of possible attacks on the problems of subjectivity. The research results enrich the present knowledge of the teacher’s actions (taken in connection with students’ knowledge or lack of it). They also point to the possibility of further research into students’ spontaneous speech at various levels of education.

Each group passes through five developmental stages called forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning. The purpose of the article was to justify the possibility of the effective use of cloud computing and the services it offers to organize the group work of offie workers in real time. The article presented the advantages of using cloud computing to manage information. The current state of their use was determined, and the benefis and possibilities of cloud computing when organizing work with documents online were outlined. The conclusions set out possible directions for further research.
Celem artykułu było uzasadnienie możliwości efektywnego wykorzystania chmur obliczeniowych i oferowanych przez nie serwisów do organizowania pracy grupowej pracowników biurowych w czasie rzeczywistym. W opracowaniu wskazano zalety zastosowania chmur obliczeniowych w zarządzaniu informacjami, określono obecny stan ich wykorzystania oraz uzasadniono korzyści i możliwości chmur obliczeniowych w organizowaniu pracy z dokumentami w trybie online. We wnioskach zamieszczono możliwe kierunki dalszych badań.

The author presents the main assumptions of the Peter Hess method applied for the purposes of prevention and therapy in work with pre-school, early school-age, and special educational needs children. She also emphasizes the fact that this method is still poorly known in Poland and needs researching. For several years the author has used sound massage as a supporting and relaxing method in her work with pre-school and early school-age children, including those with special educational needs.
Autorka przedstawia najważniejsze założenia metody Petera Hessa stosowane w profilaktyce i terapii dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym i młodszym wieku szkolnym oraz dzieci ze specjalnymi potrzebami edukacyjnymi. Podkreśla również, że metoda ta jest jeszcze mało znana w Polsce i wymaga badań. Od kilkunastu lat autorka wykorzystuje masaż dźwiękiem jako wspomagającą i re-laksującą metodę w pracy z dziećmi, w tym z dziećmi ze specjalnymi potrzebami edukacyjnymi.

However, the concept of prestige remains blurred (and in many questionnaires this word is replaced with other). In the research for my PhD thesis I aimed at constructing social definition of occupational prestige. I was mainly interested in individual perspective of members of occupational groups that are considered prestigious. My research plan was based on triangulation of methods and sources of data. In this paper I present results of my quantitative research and qualitative (IDI interviews) research.

Opis:
The main goal of this paper is to indicate the significance of pair and group work implementation in the process of language study. The first issue tackled in this article refers to interactive principles leading students to successful achievements in terms of communication. Apart from principles, there is also a short presentation of roles that an interactive teacher takes on in the course of a lesson, and how they change at different stages. The following point validates the use of pair and group work in the classroom despite the presence of certain inconveniences and dangers. Furthermore, there is a description of principles and certain rules which serve as a guidance for teachers on how to organise pairs and groups without any obstacles. On top of that, a wide range of types of interactive activities appropriate for pair and group work is put forward. The last part of the article is a collection of exemplary exercises presented in the form of appendix.
Głównym celem tego artykułu jest ukazanie istotnej roli jaką odgrywa wdrożenie pracy w parach i grupach w procesie nauczania języka obcego. Pierwszym poruszonym aspektem są interaktywne zasady, które mają doprowadzić ucznia do osiągnięcie sukcesu w zakresie komunikacji. Ponadto, w skrócie zostały przedstawione role interaktywnego nauczyciela oraz ich formy na różnych etapach lekcji. Kolejny punkt stanowi argumentacja przemawiająca za pracą w parach i grupach w postaci szeregu istniejących zalet, pomimo niedogodności i zagrożeń jakie niesie za sobą ten rodzaj pracy. W dalszej kolejności opisane zostały zasady i reguły dobrej organizacji, które mogą stanowić rodzaj instrukcji dla nauczyciela jak z powodzeniem tworzyć pary i grupy. Oprócz tego przedstawiono różnorodne typy interaktywnych zadań, odpowiednich dla pracy w parach i grupach. Ostatnia część artykułu to załącznik, w którym znajduje się zbiór przykładów ćwiczeń

The object of the study was to explore a potential relationship between group roles (the dependent variable) and psychological gender and social competence (the independent variables). The research was made more specific by asking three cognitive questions (Does the prevalence of the researched with IPP and KKS qualities differentiate the questioned women in their group role preferences (t-student)? Are specific group roles dependent on psychological gender (ANOVA)? Is there the joint impact of individual personality variables on displaying group roles (analysis of regression). The research was carried out on year three psychology students of the University of Łódź. The study has resulted in discovering statistically significant differences between representatives of different types of psychological gender and their group role preferences. We have also discovered a different prevalence of variables defined as social competence depending on the adopted group role.

In recent decades teamwork has become not only a popular topic for public discussion, but also the focus of numerous scientific insights. The abundance of publications on this subject suggests that organizing teamwork has become one of the phenomena of organi‑ zational activity. On the other hand, based on his numerous research, the author of the paper raises the question of whether the concept of teamwork analysed in such publications is studied within the framework of scientific concepts. For instance, some authors believe that the only distinguishing feature of a team is an efficiently working group; the formation of the team is a long‑term process and to achieve this the group needs to undergo several stages of development (Hersey, Blanchard, Tuckman, Jensen, Katzenbach, Smith, Liker, Kasiulis, Barvydienė, Savanavičienė, Šilingienė, Gražulis); other authors use these concepts as synonyms (Boddy, Peiton) and analyse them in the context of formal and informal sta‑ tus. Thus, the concept of effective and ineffective teams has become the additional object of the research. Numerous researchers limit their research to the analysis of functional roles within well‑established teams (Benne, Sheats), at the same time neglecting the impact of personality traits on the activity of the work group. Specialists do not agree on the team size (Manz, Sims, Miller, Stoner et. al.), purpose (Meskon, Katzenbach, Smith, Sakalas et. al.), and periodically arising constraints on the team development and the like. As a result, scholars and practitioners perceive the issues of team work differently, thus they often talk at cross purposes. The author of the paper believes that it is expedient to consider the information collected up to now on the topic of teamwork within the overall context of the development of management science, which at the same time would provide for the development of conceptual theoretical proposals for scientific teamwork models (systems).
Autor artykułu na podstawie swoich badań dotyczących pracy zespołowej zadaje pytanie, czy w literaturze przedmiotu bada się tę pracę jako system koncepcji naukowej? W artykule akcentuje się, że w części publikacji przeprowadzana jest obrona koncepcji, iż mianem zespołu możemy określić tylko tę grupę pracowników,która pracuje efektywnie. Natomiast sam proces formowania jest procesem długotrwałym, który składa się z kilku etapów rozwoju (Hersey, Blanchard, Tuckman, Jensen, Katzenbach, Smith, Liker, Kasiulis, Barvydienė, Savanavičienė, Šilingienė, Gražulis). Także inni autorzy wykorzystują te pojęcia jako synonimy (Boddy, Peiton, Kogler) oraz badają je w kontekście formalnym lub nieformalnym. W artykule akcentuje się, że w literaturze przedmiotu nie ma jednego poglądu dotyczącego wielkości zespołów (Manz, Sims, Miller, Stoner i in.), celu (Meskon, Katzenbach, Smith, Sakalas i in.), jak i problemów powstających przy ich działaniu itp. W rzeczywistości – z powodu różnego podejścia do tej problematyki, naukowcy i praktycy pracy zespołowej często mówią różnymi językami.Na podstawie badań B.W. Tuckman i M.A.C. Jensen, w których zostały zeprezentowane etapy rozwoju zespołów, pokazano treść poszczególnych etapów formowania zespołów. Zdaniem autora, główne cele formowania zespołów to efektywność działania, jak i wzrost konkurencyjności organizacji. Autor zaznacza także, że dotychczas zdobytą wiedzę o formowaniu zespołów należy badać w kontekście rozwoju nauki zarządzania. Takie podejście stworzy możliwość konstruowania modeli pracy zespołowej (systemy). W artykule został także zaprezentowany stworzony przez autora teoretyczny model pracy zespołowej, który pokazuje, że gdy formuje się zespół, zachodzą pewne procesy odzwierciadlające się w funkcjonowaniu organizacji: polityka (misja, wizja i cele strategiczne), organizacyjna struktura zarządzania, kultura organizacyjna, wydajności pracowników, stylu zarządzania, procedury i zasady współpracy, w końcu – zdolność do konkurowania.Autor ma nadzieję, że reprezentowany pogląd pomoże lepiej zrozumieć zespoły oraz w przyszłości uniknąć problemów przy ich formowaniu.
В последние десятилетия командная работа стала не только популярной темой для публичного обсуждения, но и в центре внимания многочисленных научных идей. Обилие публикаций на эту тему показывает, что организация совместной работы стала одним из важных явлений организационной деятельности. С другой стороны, на основе собственных исследований, автор настоящей статьи поднимает вопрос о том, что не всегда совместный труд в команде анализируются в рамках научных концепций. Например, некоторые авторы считают, что отличительной чертой команды является эффективно работающая группа, формирование команды является долгосрочным процессом и для достижения этой цели группа должна пройти несколько этапов развития (Hersey, Blanchard, Tuckman, Jensen, Katzenbach, Smith, Liker, Kasiulis, Barvydienė, Savanavičienė, Šilingienė, Gražulis); другие авторы используют эти понятия как синонимы (Boddy, Peiton) и анализируют в контексте их формального и неформального статуса. По этой причине понятие эффективных и неэффективных команд становится дополнительным объектом исследований. Некоторые специалисты свои исследования ограничивают анализом функциональных ролей работников в команде (Benne, Sheats), в то же время пренебрегая влиянием личностных качеств на результаты деятельности рабочей группы. Средиспециалистов нет единого мнения о величине команды (Manz, Sims, Miller, Stoner др.), ее назначении (Meskon, Katzenbach, Smith, Sakalas и др.), а также периодически возникающих ограничениях развития команды и тому подобное. В результате, ученые и практики вопросы работы в команде воспринимают по‑разному, поэтому они часто говорят на «разном языке». Автор настоящей статьи считает, что информацию, собранную до сих пор на тему совместной работы целесообразно рассматривать в рамках общего контекста развития науки управления, которая позволяет разрабатывать концептуальные научные модели (системы) коллективной работы.

The article presents the results of a research study on the situation of contemporary post-graduate students. Focus group interviews helped obtain post-graduate students’ opinions about the conditions of starting and continuing doctoral studies. The discussion focused on three main topics: motivation to start doctoral studies, the quality and conditions of doctoral studies evaluation, and the advantages and disadvantages of undertaking doctoral studies. Analysis of the respondents’ statements shows that the motivations for starting doctoral studies vary strongly. Common in the experience of the interlocutors is a lack of stability in life (including financialstability), insecurity of employment, overload, and stress. However, post-graduate students presented also positive aspects of doctoral studies, e.g.: social prestige or the possibility of development. The last part of the article describes issues related to problems and pathological phenomena (such as ‘punctasis’/‘points, credits collecting’), pointing to systemic and individual limitations affecting the situation of doctoral students in the Polish tertiary education system.

An analysis of contemporary labour market indicates that teamwork skills are among the competences most desired by employers. Therefore, students, future employees, should develop and improve their teamwork skills. The authors argue that team member effectiveness depends, among other things, on the teamwork attitudes. The paper's aim is to identify students' attitude towards teamwork as well as to characterize the needs for the improvement of students' teamwork skills. The results of a survey among 108 students of master degree are presented. The survey inquired several teamwork issues among students in three areas: students' understanding of a teamwork concept, their attitudes towards teamwork and assessment of team member effectiveness with the usage of CATME instrument. The results show that students are not convinced of positive teamwork effects and they rather prefer to work individually. The analysis of their effectiveness as team members indicates that their communication skills, specialized knowledge and competences needed for project tasks are on a quite satisfactory level. However, three other dimensions of effective teamwork behaviour require improvement, i.e. task controlling and keeping team on track, expecting quality of teamwork and contributing to the team's work. Finally, basing on the literature review, the authors propose several hints on how the students' team projects should be pursued by academic teachers.

The aim of the article is to describe the empowerment process and its implementation in social work in the context of counteracting social exclusion in youth and adults based on the example of the project carried out in the years 2014-2016, titled: “Development of the empowerment of educators and beneficiaries in the field of youth at risk and social exclusion”,  co-financed from European Union funds within the Erasmus + programme, Action 2: Strategic partnership of professional teaching and training, Grant No. 2014-1-FR01-KA2026-008728. The English language concept category of empowerment, which does not have a satisfactory equivalent term in the Polish language, was operationalised in this article. The essence of empowerment in the context of social work was described in the article, pointing to its significance mainly in the scope of counteracting the process of youth and adult social exclusion. Furthermore, the main assumptions of the implemented international project were set out in the ambit of the development of the empowerment of educators as well as of beneficiaries working with persons at risk of social exclusion, and the relationship and reflections of one of the project participants were also shown. An attempt was made in the article on the basis of the experiences gathered within the performance of the international research project to assess the course of the empowerment process and its usefulness in searching for solutions for educational practices in the domain of the social exclusion phenomenon.

Praca socjalna z grupą jako jedna z trzech wyróżnionych w klasycznym podziale metod pracy socjalnej stanowi przedmiot kształcenia na kierunku praca socjalna. W porównaniu z pozostałymi dwiema (pracy z indywidualnym przypadkiem i pracy ze społecznością) jest to metoda pracy socjalnej w najmniejszym stopniu opisywana w podręcznikach i publikacjach naukowych z zakresu pracy socjalnej w Polsce. Celem artykułu jest usystematyzowanie i pogłębienie wiedzy na temat pracy socjalnej z grupą. W pierwszej części tekstu przedstawiam wybrane teoretyczne i metodyczne podstawy pracy socjalnej z grupą: zwracam uwagę na „moc grupy” oraz znaczenie procesu grupowego, ukazuję grupę jako narzędzie i zasób pracy socjalnej, wskazuję na różnorodność grup wykorzystywanych w pracy socjalnej, zarysowuję sylwetkę zawodową pracownika socjalnego pracującego z grupami. W drugiej części artykułu odwołuję się do własnych doświadczeń pracy dydaktycznej w obszarze grupowej pracy socjalnej ze studentkami i studentami kierunku praca socjalna na Wydziale Ekonomiczno-Socjologicznym Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego. Na zakończenie zwracam uwagę na wpływ pandemii COVID-19 na dydaktykę pracy w grupie i na praktykę pracy grupowej.
Social work with a group, as one of three classic methods of social work, is being taught in the course of academic studies in the “Social work” BA programme. In comparison to the other two social work methods (social work with an individual case and community social work), the social group method seems to be least recognized in training and praxis of social work in Poland. The aim of the article is to systemize and to deepen the knowledge on the social work with a group. The first part of the text is dedicated to the review of chosen theoretical and methodological foundations of social work with a group. I refer to “the power of group” and the significance of the group process; I present a small group as a resource and as a tool of social work; I point to the diversity of groups used in the context of social work, and provide a catalogue of personal features, knowledge, skills and tasks of a professional social group worker. The second part of the article is based on my experience as a teacher of methods of social work at the Faculty of Economics and Sociology of the University of Łódź, Poland. I describe training in social work with a group as a shared group experience. In the end I reflect on the influence of Covid-19 pandemic on changes in teaching group work and the group work itself in the light of “work online”.
