The paper describes an investigation of fault tolerant control strategies for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) driven by a fault-tolerant inverter. The inverter is a topology-modified inverter with fault-tolerant capability, which can be configured as the standard 3-phase 6-switch inverter and reconfigured as 3-phase 4-switch or 2-phase 4-switch inverter under the fault condition. By analyzing operating principle of a fault-tolerant inverter and the mathematical model of PMSM, fault tolerant control algorithms are investigated. There is a conclusion that three phase stator windings of PMSM can be effectively operated by controlling only two phase currents. Simulation results show the validity of the proposed methods.

For a simple connected graph G = (V,E) and an ordered subset W = {w1, w2, . . . , wk} of V , the code of a vertex v ∈ V , denoted by code(v), with respect to W is a k-tuple (d(v, w1), . . . , d(v, wk)), where d(v, wt) represents the distance between v and wt. The set W is called a resolving set of G if code(u) ≠ code(v) for every pair of distinct vertices u and v. A metric basis of G is a resolving set with the minimum cardinality. The metric dimension of G is the cardinality of a metric basis and is denoted by β(G). A set F ⊂ V is called fault-tolerant resolving set of G if F \ {v} is a resolving set of G for every v ∈ F. The fault-tolerant metric dimension of G is the cardinality of a minimal fault-tolerant resolving set. In this article, a complete characterization of metric bases for G2 mn has been given. In addition, we prove that the fault-tolerant metric dimension of G2 mn is 4 if m + n is even. We also show that the fault-tolerant metric dimension of G2 mn is at least 5 and at most 6 when m + n is odd.

Opis:
A systematic fault tolerant control (FTC) scheme based on fault estimation for a quadrotor actuator, which integrates normal control, active and passive FTC and fault parking is proposed in this paper. Firstly, an adaptive Thau observer (ATO) is presented to estimate the quadrotor rotor fault magnitudes, and then faults with different magnitudes and time-varying natures are rated into corresponding fault severity levels based on the pre-defined fault-tolerant boundaries. Secondly, a systematic FTC strategy which can coordinate various FTC methods is designed to compensate for failures depending on the fault types and severity levels. Unlike former stand-alone passive FTC or active FTC, our proposed FTC scheme can compensate for faults in a way of condition-based maintenance (CBM), and especially consider the fatal failures that traditional FTC techniques cannot accommodate to avoid the crashing of UAVs. Finally, various simulations are carried out to show the performance and effectiveness of the proposed method.

In this paper, a virtual actuator-based active fault-tolerant control strategy is presented. After a short introduction to Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems, it is shown how to design a fault-tolerant control strategy for this particular class of non-linear systems. The key contribution of the proposed approach is an integrated fault-tolerant control design procedure of fault identification and control within an integrated fault-tolerant control scheme. In particular, fault identification is implemented with the suitable state observer. While, the controller is implemented in such a way that the state of the (possibly faulty) system tracks the state of a fault-free reference model. Consequently, the fault-tolerant control stabilizes the possibly faulty system taking into account the input constraints and some control objective function. Finally, the last part of the paper shows a comprehensive case study regarding the application of the proposed strategy to fault-tolerant control of a twin-rotor system.

Opis:
Due to the external disturbances, model uncertainties, strong coupling, and occurred faults, the winding machine presents a great control challenge. In order to deal with these problems, this paper presents the formulation of a novel scheme of fault tolerant control (FTC) for three-motor web-winding systems; it is concerned with the nonlinear robust backstepping control based on the combination of RST and backstepping controllers where the process is modelled by a nonlinear model. The main contribution of the paper is that the approach developed here summarises the performance of RST and backstepping controllers in order to design a robust controller capable of eliminating external disturbances and sensor faults affecting the system. The stability of the whole system is proven using the Lyapunov theory. Finally, analysis in comparison with the conventional backstepping controller and simulations in the MATLAB environment are accomplished to confirm the efficiency of the proposed method.

Opis:
Chosen speed and current sensor fault detectors for a vector controlled induction motor drive system have been presented. Systems based on the artificial intelligence (neural network) and simple algorithmic systems were analyzed and tested in various drive conditions. The influence of chosen sensor faults on performance of the drive system has been presented. The compensation strategy was proposed and tested. A fault tolerant drive, based on hardware redundancy, has been developed and presented. Simulation and experimental results are obtained in direct field oriented control algorithm (DFOC) on the laboratory set-up with rapid prototyping card Micro Lab Box DS1202 by dSpace.

This paper describes the application of differential geometry and nonlinear systems analysis to the estimation of friction effects in a class of mechanical systems. The proposed methodology relies on adaptive filters, designed with a nonlinear geometric approach to obtain the disturbance de-coupling property, for the estimation of the friction force. Thanks to accurate estimation, friction effects are compensated by injecting the on-line estimate of friction force to the control action calculated by a standard linear state feedback. The inverted pendulum on a cart is considered as an application example and the proposed approach is compared with a commonly used friction compensation strategy, based on an explicit model of the friction force.

Opis:
Diode neutral point clamped (NPC) three-level converters have been widely used in recent years. Aiming at the problems of the high device failure rate and unstable neutral point potential of NPC three-level converters, an NPC three-level circuit with fourth bridge arm redundancy is proposed based on the traditional NPC three-level converter. The redundant fourth bridge arm is used to realize the function of stabilizing voltage when there is no fault and replacing the fault half-bridge arm to maintain the continuous operation of the converter when there is a fault. By analyzing the working principle of space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) and the power loss of the switch, it is of particular significance to the design and control of NPC three-level converters in the future. Matlab/Simulink verifies the feasibility of the fault-tolerant circuit structure.

Opis:
Three-level T-type inverters have lower total harmonic distortion in output voltage, higher power density and lower voltage stress of power switches compared with conventional two-level inverters and have been widely used in applications with a wide-power range. Reliability improvement is particularly important for the T-type inverters because of the increased number of power switches and high system complexity. This paper proposes a fault-tolerant topology, which is constructed by adding a redundant leg including halfbridge switches and neutral-point switches connected between the DC bus capacitors and the DC-link midpoint of the conventional T-type inverter. In addition, an after-fault control strategy is proposed based on the results of a fault diagnosis method using bridge voltage. The fault-tolerant control of the open-circuit fault of the power switches and the phase-leg fault can both be achieved by the proposed method. Experimental results are given to verify that the proposed fault-tolerant three-level T-type inverter can output the full voltage level and power during the fault-tolerant operation based on the proposed control strategy.

In order to develop a PM BLDC motor control system, which will be tolerant of selected faults, simulation work was first performed and then verified on a universal test stand. The results were published in earlier works. The next stage of works was the implementation of previously developed algorithms on the target research test stand – in this case, the prototype vehicle. This last stage of the laboratory work has been presented in this article, i.e. it has been presented the results of experimental research related to the reproduction of rotor angle position, used after the detection of a rotor position sensor fault. A new test stand with the laboratory prototype of a vehicle with two PM BLDC motors is presented. A zeroth-order algorithm (ZOA) was used as a fault compensation method. The effectiveness and usefulness of the previously proposed methods have been confirmed.

Do detekcji uszkodzenia wykorzystano sztuczną sieć neuronową. Detektor sprawdzono w różnych warunkach pracy, dla różnych rodzajów uszkodzeń czujnika. Opracowano kompletny system o zwiększonym stopniu bezpieczeństwa. Badania symulacyjne wykonano w środowisku Matlab/SimPowerSystem.
In the paper the concept of safety induction motor drive system is presented. The speed sensor fault detector, based on the neural network, is described and tested in vector controlled (DFOC) induction motor drive. The fault tolerant algorithm using this system was applied and tested during different conditions. Simulation (obtained in MATLAB/SimPowerSystem) results are presented.

In nuclear facilities, the reading of the sensors is very important in the assessments of the system state. The existence of an abnormal state could be caused by a failure in the sensor itself instead of a failure in the system. So, being unable to identify the main cause of the “abnormal state” and take proper actions may end in unnecessary shutdown for the nuclear facility that may have expensive economic consequences. That is why, it is extremely important for a supervision and control system to identify the case where the failure in the sensor is the main cause for the existence of an abnormal state. In this paper, a system based on a wireless sensor network is proposed to monitor the radiation levels around and inside a nuclear facility. A new approach for validating the sensor readings is proposed and investigated using the Castalia simulator.

In this paper, a robust fault-tolerant control strategy for constrained multisensor linear systems, subject to sensor faults and in the presence of bounded state and output disturbances, is proposed. The scheme verifies that, for each sensors-estimator combination, suitable residual variables lie inside pre-computed sets and selects a more appropriate combination based on a chosen criterion. An active fault tolerant output feedback controller yields an MPC-based control law and, by means of the notion of a "tube" of trajectories, we ensure robust closed-loop exponential stability and good performance in the fault-free case and under the occurrence of abrupt sensor faults.

Opis:
Design of fault tolerant dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) backbones is a major issue for service provision in the presence of failures. The problem is an NP-hard problem. This paper presents a genetic algorithm based approach for designing fault tolerant DWDM optical networks in the presence of a single link failure. The working and spare lightpaths are encoded into variable length chromosomes. Then the best lightpaths are found by use of a fitness function and these are assigned the minimum number of wavelengths according to the problem constraints using first-fit (FF) algorithm. The proposed approach has been evaluated for dedicated path protection architecture. The results, obtained from the ARPA2 test bench network, show that the method is well suited to tackling this complex and multi-constraint problem.

Fault-Tolerant Control (FTC) systems are intensively investigated both from the theoretical and practical viewpoints. It is reflected in a large number of publications and research teams dealing with this emerging area. FTC is perceived as a technique integrating advanced fault diagnosis techniques and modern control methods that makes it possible a system to continue its mission under a faulty situation. It can be also observed that the fault diagnosis theory is well developed for linear systems. There are also approaches that can be efficiently used to minimize the uncertainty effect of the model of the system being controlled and diagnosed as well as noise and disturbances. This means that the development of analogous strategies for non-linear systems is fully justified. One of the main difficulties in the current development of FTC is the fact that most works presented in the literature treat fault diagnosis and FTC problems separately. Unfortunately, perfect fault diagnosis, and in particular fault identification, is impossible to attain. This justifies the necessity of developing integrated fault diagnosis and FTC, which takes into account such an unappealing phenomenon, both for linear and non-linear systems. As indicates the state-of-the-art regarding FTC, the integration issue is treated cursorily while the lack of suitable solution is replaced with a chain of (possibly conservative) assumptions related to fault diagnosis. Taking into account the above difficulties, the paper focuses on the presentation of modern FTC with analytical and soft computing approaches. An effective FTC methods are discussed along with the integration process of fault diagnosis and FTC.
Systemy sterowania tolerującego uszkodzenia FTC (ang. Fault-Tolerant Control) są obecnie intensywnie badane, zarówno z teoretycznego, jak i praktycznego punktu widzenia. Znajduje to odzwierciedlenie w wielu publikacjach naukowych oraz w liczbie międzynarodowych zespołów zaangażowanych w badania nad tym zagadnieniem. FTC jest postrzegane jako technika integrująca zaawansowane strategie diagnostyki uszkodzeń z nowoczesnymi metodami sterowania, umożliwiająca dalsze funkcjonowanie systemu w warunkach uszkodzeń. Teoria diagnostyki uszkodzeń i sterowania jest dobrze rozwinięta i udokumentowana dla systemów liniowych. Istnieją również rozwiązania zmniejszające zależność między jakością funkcjonowania powyższych metod, a niepewnością modelu opisującego sterowany i diagnozowany, która może być spowodowana takimi czynnikami jak: różnice między kopiami użytych elementów konstrukcyjnych, niestacjonarność systemu, zewnętrzne zakłócenia, szumy pomiarowe, itd. Oznacza to, że opracowywanie analogicznych rozwiązań dla systemów nieliniowych jest w pełni uzasadnione. Jedną z głównych trudności w obecnym rozwoje FTC jest fakt, że większość prac prezentowanych w literaturze traktuje problemy diagnostyki uszkodzeń i FTC niezależnie. Niestety, idealna diagnostyka uszkodzeń, a w szczególności ich identyfikacja (określenie rozmiaru uszkodzeń) jest niemożliwa do uzyskania. Uzasadnia to konieczność projektowania zintegrowanych układów diagnostyki i FTC uwzględniających tą niepożądaną właściwość, zarówno dla układów liniowych, jak i nieliniowych. Jak wskazuje przegląd licznych prac w zakresie FTC oraz monografii związanych z tą tematyką, problem integracji jest traktowany bardzo pobieżnie, a jego rozwiązanie zastępuje się szeregiem (zazwyczaj restrykcyjnych) założeń, jakie musi spełniać układ diagnostyczny stanowiący jeden z elementów FTC. Biorąc pod uwagę powyższe uwarunkowania, referat koncentruje się na prezentacji nowoczesnych rozwiązań w zakresie FTC z zastosowaniem technik analitycznych i metod obliczeń inteligentnych. Omawia się również efektywne metody sterowania tolerującego uszkodzenia wraz z procesem integracji układów sterownia i diagnostyki uszkodzeń.

In this paper the integration of reliability evaluation in reconfigurability analysis of a fault-tolerant control system is considered. The aim of this work is to contribute to reliable fault-tolerant control design. The admissibility of control reconfigurability is analyzed with respect to reliability requirements. This analysis shows the relationship between reliability and control reconfigurability defined generally through Gramian controllability. An admissible solution for reconfigurability is proposed according to reliability evaluation based on energy consumption under degraded functional conditions. The proposed study is illustrated with a flight control application.

An active fault tolerant controller is designed for the attitude control of a faulty spacecraft. Feedback linearization and Lyapunov’s direct method are used to solve angular velocity equations and to ensure convergence of the system outputs to reference inputs, respectively. In order to ensure finite time convergence, final time constraints are proposed. Three con- structive objective functions are considered as performance measures and optimized using multi-objective optimization. The results show that the outputs converge to the reference attitudes, even for severe actuator faults/failures.

The paper deals with the problem of designing sensor-fault tolerant control for a class of non-linear systems. The scheme is composed of a robust state and fault estimator as well as a controller. The estimator aims at recovering the real system state irrespective of sensor faults. Subsequently, the fault-free state is used for control purposes. Also, the robust sensor fault estimator is developed in a such a way that a level of disturbances attenuation can be reached pertaining to the fault estimation error. Fault-tolerant control is designed using similar criteria. Moreover, a separation principle is proposed, which makes it possible to design the fault estimator and control separately. The final part of the paper is devoted to the comprehensive experimental study related to the application of the proposed approach to a non-linear twin-rotor system, which clearly exhibits the performance of the new strategy.

This paper describes a fault-tolerant controller (FTC) of induction motor (IM) with inter-turn short circuit in stator phase winding. The fault-tolerant controller is based on the indirect rotor field oriented control (IRFOC) and an observer to estimate the motor states, the amount of turns involved in short circuit and the current in the short circuit. The proposed fault controller switches between the control of the two components of measured stator current in the synchronously rotating reference frame and the control of the two components of estimated current in the case of faulty condition when the estimated current in the short circuit is not destructive of motor winding. This technique is used to eliminate the speed and the rotor flux harmonics and to assure the decoupling between the rotor flux and torque controls. The results of the simulation for controlling the speed and rotor flux of the IM demonstrate the applicability of the proposed FTC.

This paper reviews the use of set-membership methods in fault diagnosis (FD) and fault tolerant control (FTC). Setmembership methods use a deterministic unknown-but-bounded description of noise and parametric uncertainty (interval models). These methods aims at checking the consistency between observed and predicted behaviour by using simple sets to approximate the exact set of possible behaviour (in the parameter or the state space). When an inconsistency is detected between the measured and predicted behaviours obtained using a faultless system model, a fault can be indicated. Otherwise, nothing can be stated. The same principle can be used to identify interval models for fault detection and to develop methods for fault tolerance evaluation. Finally, some real applications will be used to illustrate the usefulness and performance of set-membership methods for FD and FTC.

Opis:
The neutral point clamped (NPC) three-level grid-tied converter is the key equipment connecting renewable energy and power grids. The current sensor fault caused by harsh environment may lead to the split of renewable energy. The existing sensor fault-tolerant methods will reduce the modulation ratio index of the converter system. To ensure continuous operation of the converter system and improve the modulation index, a model predictive control method based on reconstructed current is proposed in this paper. According to the relationship between fault phase current and a voltage vector, the original voltage vector is combined and classified. To maintain the stable operation of the converter and improve the utilization rate of DC voltage, two kinds of fault phase current are reconstructed with DC current, normal phase current and predicted current, respectively. Based on reconstructed three-phase current, a current predictive control model is designed, and a model predictive control method is proposed. The proposed method selects the optimal voltage vector with the cost function and reduces time delay with the current reconstruction sector. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed strategy can keep the NPC converter running stably with one AC sensor, and the modulation index is increased from 57.7% to 100%.

Algorytmy regulacji predykcyjnej dzięki sposobowi ich formułowania, w którym w umiejętny sposób wykorzystuje się model procesu, gwarantują bardzo dobrą jakość regulacji. Często ma to miejsce także w przypadku wystąpienia uszkodzenia w układzie regulacji. Wiele takich uszkodzeń może być nawet trudnych do zauważenia dzięki działaniu regulatora, jednak pożądane jest ich wykrycie. W artykule zaproponowano wykorzystanie w celu wykrywania uszkodzeń faktu, że w algorytmach regulacji predykcyjnej na bieżąco oceniana jest jakość modelu, na którym algorytm bazuje, przez porównywanie jego wyjścia z wartością wyjścia obiektu. Metoda może więc zostać użyta w algorytmach regulacji predykcyjnej dowolnego typu, bazujących zarówno na liniowych, jak i nieliniowych modelach obiektów.
The model predictive control (MPC) algorithms due to their formulation and clever usage of the process model offer good control performance. It is also the case when some faults take place in the control system. Many of such faults can be even hard to notice thanks to the operation of the controller. It is, however, desired to be able to detect such situations. In the paper it is proposed to use internal signals of the MPC controllers in order to detect faults that occurred in the system. The method can be applied in the MPC algorithms based on both linear or nonlinear models.

The problem of fault tolerant control is studied from the behavioral point of view. In this mathematical framework, the concept of interconnection among the variables describing the system is a key point. The problem is that the behavior we intend to control is not known. Therefore, we are interested in designing a fault accommodation scheme for an unknown behavior through an appropriate behavioral interconnection. Here we deal simply with the trajectories that are generated by the system in real time. These trajectories determine the behavior of a system in various (faulty/healthy) modes. Based on the desired interconnected behavior, only the trajectories that obey certain laws are selected. These laws, representing the desired behavior, can indeed be achieved by a regular interconnection. Thus, when the trajectories do not belong to a certain desired behavior, it is considered to be due to the occurrence of a fault in the system. The vantage point is that the fault tolerant control problem now becomes completely a model-free scheme. Moreover, no explicit fault diagnosis module is required in our approach. The proposed fault tolerance mechanism is illustrated on an aircraft during the landing phase.

The paper provides the minimal necessary modifications of linear matrix inequality conditions for the mixed H2/H∞ control design as well as for the augmented observer-based fault estimation to be mutually compatible in joint design of integrated fault estimation and fault tolerant control. To be possible, within this integration, to design the controller which guarantees a pre-specified H∞ norm disturbance attenuation level, the design conditions has to be regularized using the H2 performance index and, moreover, augmented fault observer must be of enforced dynamics. Analyzing the ambit of performances given on the mixed H2/H∞ design, the joint design conditions are formulated as a minimization problem subject to convex constraints expressed by a system of LMIs. The feasibility of the conditions is demonstrated by a numerical example.

A model-based controller architecture for Fault-Tolerant Control (FTC) is presented in this paper. The controller architecture is based on a general controller parameterization. The FTC architecture consists of two main parts, a Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) part and a controller reconfiguration part. The theoretical basis for the architecture is given followed by an investigation of the single parts in the architecture. It is shown that the general controller parameterization is central in connection with both fault diagnosis as well as controller reconfiguration. Especially in relation to the controller reconfiguration part, the application of controller parameterization results in a systematic technique for switching between different controllers. This also allows controller switching using different sets of actuators and sensors.

Classical voltage space vector modulation techniques cannot be efficiently applied in four-switch three-phase voltage inverter-fed electrical drives due to a voltage offset in DC-link capacitors. The capacitor voltages imbalance is a result of a bidirectional current which flows in a phase of an electric motor that is connected to a DC-link capacitor midpoint. To overcome this problem which leads to an incorrect inverter voltage modulation or even can affect the DC-link capacitors, predictive control algorithms considering the voltage offset in DC-link capacitors have been developed. Despite the predictive methods are highly effective, they require to adjust the cost function weighting factors which is normally an inexplicit task. In this paper, an on-line tuning method of the weighting factor related to the capacitor voltages imbalance incorporated in the cost function of the predictive algorithm has been proposed. According to the proposed approach, the weighting factor is self-adjusted so that the DC-link capacitor voltages are stabilized as well as a high quality of the drive control is remained simultaneously, regardless of its operating point. The proposed strategy has been validated by using simulation model of the induction motor drive system.

By introducing a reliability index based on the control performance and hard deadline, a semi-Markov process model is proposed to describe system operation for reliability evaluation. The degraded performance of FTCSs in the presence of imperfect Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) is reflected by semi-Markov states. The semi-Markov kernel, the key parameter of the process, is determined by four probabilistic parameters based on the Markovian model of FTCSs. Computed from the transition probabilities of the semi-Markov process, the reliability index incorporates control objectives, hard deadline, and the effects of imperfect FDI, a suitable quantitative measure of the overall performance.

Wind energy has achieved prominence in renewable energy production. There- fore, it is necessary to develop a diagnosis system and fault-tolerant control to protect the system and to prevent unscheduled shutdowns. The presented study aims to provide an experimental analysis of a speed sensor fault by hybrid active fault-tolerant control (AFTC) for a wind energy conversion system (WECS) based on a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). The hybrid AFTC switches between a traditional controller based on proportional integral (PI) controllers under normal conditions and a robust backstepping controller system without a speed sensor to avoid any deterioration caused by the sensor fault. A sliding mode observer is used to estimate the PMSG rotor position. The proposed controller architecture can be designed for performance and robustness separately. Finally, the proposed methodwas successfully tested in an experimental set up using a dSPACE 1104 platform. In this experimental system, the wind turbine with a generator connection via a mechanical gear is emulated by a PMSM engine with controled speed through a voltage inverter. The obtained experimental results show clearly that the proposed method is able to guarantee service production continuity for the WECS in adequate transition.

Sliding mode methods have been historically studied because of their strong robustness properties with regard to a certain class of uncertainty, achieved by employing nonlinear control/injection signals to force the system trajectories to attain in finite time a motion along a surface in the state-space. This paper will consider how these ideas can be exploited for fault detection (specifically fault signal estimation) and subsequently fault tolerant control. It will also describe applications of these ideas to aerospace systems, including piloted flight simulator results associated with the GARTEUR AG16 Action Group on Fault Tolerant Control. The results demonstrate a successful real-time implementation of the proposed fault tolerant control scheme on a motion flight simulator configured to represent the post-failure EL-AL aircraft.

In this paper, sliding mode control is used to develop two passive fault tolerant controllers for an AscTec Pelican UAV quadrotor. In the first approach, a regular sliding mode controller (SMC) augmented with an integrator uses the robustness property of variable structure control to tolerate partial actuator faults. The second approach is a cascaded sliding mode controller with an inner and outer SMC loops. In this configuration, faults are tolerated in the fast inner loop controlling the velocity system. Tuning the controllers to find the optimal values of the sliding mode controller gains is made using the ecological systems algorithm (ESA), a biologically inspired stochastic search algorithm based on the natural equilibrium of animal species. The controllers are tested using SIMULINK in the presence of two different types of actuator faults, partial loss of motor power affecting all the motors at once, and partial loss of motor speed. Results of the quadrotor following a continuous path demonstrated the effectiveness of the controllers, which are able to tolerate a significant number of actuator faults despite the lack of hardware redundancy in the quadrotor system. Tuning the controller using a faulty system improves further its ability to afford more severe faults. Simulation results show that passive schemes reserve their important role in fault tolerant control and are complementary to active techniques.

This paper presents a fault-tolerant control scheme for a 2 DOF helicopter. The 2 DOF helicopter is a higher-order multi-input multi-output system featuring non-linearity, cross-coupling, and unstable behaviour. The impact of sensor, actuator, and component faults on such highly complex systems is enormous. This work employs sliding mode control, which is based on reaching and super-twisting laws, to handle the problem of fault control. Simulation tests are carried out to show the effectiveness of the algorithms. Various performance metrics are analyzed and the results show SMC based on super-twisting law provides better control with less chattering. The stability of the closed-loop system is mathematically assured, in the presence of faults, which is a key contribution of this research.

Przedstawiono ogólną strukturę ustawnika. Następnie zaprezentowano koncepcję realizacji układu tolerujacego uszkodzenia toru sprzężenia zwrotnego ustawnika. Przedstawiono również przykład wdrożenia przemysłowego ustawnika.

In this article, model reference adaptive system (MRAS)-based estimator of a rotor resistance of an induction motor (IM) is presented. In contrast to the solutions known from the literature, the reference model of this estimator uses the measured values of the phase current and the adaptive part is a virtual current sensor. The article presents an accurate description of the algorithm taking into account the discrete equations for possible practical implementation in the microprocessor system. In the first step, the impact of motor parameters to stator current estimation quality in the adaptive model was checked. Subsequently, simulation tests of the proposed rotor resistance estimator were carried out for the field-oriented control of the induction motor drive system with a model of an induction motor with fixed parameters and an induction motor with a changing main inductance according to a magnetisation curve. The analysis of the estimator’s work showed its high efficiency and insensitivity to changes in the IM main inductance.

In this paper, a fault-tolerant control (FTC) scheme is proposed for actuator faults, which is built upon tube-based model predictive control (MPC) as well as set-based fault detection and isolation (FDI). In the class of MPC techniques, tube-based MPC can effectively deal with system constraints and uncertainties with relatively low computational complexity compared with other robust MPC techniques such as min-max MPC. Set-based FDI, generally considering the worst case of uncertainties, can robustly detect and isolate actuator faults. In the proposed FTC scheme, fault detection (FD) is passive by using invariant sets, while fault isolation (FI) is active by means of MPC and tubes. The active FI method proposed in this paper is implemented by making use of the constraint-handling ability of MPC to manipulate the bounds of inputs. After the system has been detected to become faulty, the input-constraint set of the MPC controller is adjusted to actively excite the system for achieving FI guarantees on-line, where an active FI-oriented input set is designed off-line. In this way, the system can be excited in order to obtain more extra system-operating information for FI than passive FI approaches. Overall, the objective of this paper is to propose an actuator MPC scheme with as little as possible of FI conservatism and computational complexity by combining tube-based MPC and set theory within the framework of MPC, respectively. Finally, a case study is used to show the effectiveness of the proposed FTC scheme.

This paper addresses fault-tolerant control for position mooring of a shuttle or floating production storage and offloading vessels. A complete framework for fault diagnosis is presented. A loss of a sub-sea mooring line buoyancy element and line breakage are given particular attention, since such failures might cause high-risk abortion of an oil-loading operation. With significant drift forces from waves, non-Gaussian elements dominate forces and the residuals designed for fault diagnosis. Hypothesis testing is designed using dedicated change detection for the type of distribution encountered. A new position recovery algorithm is proposed as a means of fault accommodation in order to keep the mooring system in a safe state, despite faults. The position control is shown to be capable of accommodating serious failures and preventing breakage of a mooring line, or a loss of a buoyancy element, from causing subsequent failures. Properties of the detection and fault-tolerant control algorithms are demonstrated by high fidelity simulations.

This paper presents a fault tolerant position tracking controller for a hexarotor system. The proposed controller has a cascaded structure composed of a position and an attitude control loop. The nominal controller is augmented by an adaptive control allocation which compensates for faults and failures within the propulsion system without reconfiguration of the controller. Simultaneously, it is able to implement a degraded control strategy which prioritizes specific control directions in the case of extreme degradation. The main contribution is a controller that is a step closer to application scenarios by including outdoor GPS-based flight tests, onboard computation and the handling of unknown degradation and failure of any rotor.

The increased cost of fuel and maintenance in aircraft system lead to the concept of more electric aircraft, moreover this concept increase the use of power electronic converters in aircraft power system. Since in this application, the reliability is a crucial feature. Therefore, the use of more efficient, reliable and robust power converter with health management capability will be a big challenge. Multicellular topology of power converters has the required performance in terms of efficiency and robustness. However, the increased complexity of control and more power components (power switches and capacitors) goes along with an increase in possibility of failure in multicellular topology. Therefore, the main contribution of this paper is the use of multicellular topology advantageous with fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control in order to increase the robustness reliability. The health management using a fault detection with Fuzzy Pattern Matching (FPM) algorithm when a failure in power switches or flying capacitors of multicellular converter and a Fault Tolerant Control (FTC) with sliding mode of second parallel three cells multicellular converters. Simulation results with Matlab show the increased efficiency and the continuity of work during failure mode in aircraft power system.

This paper focuses on supervisory fault tolerant control design for a class of systems with faults ranging over a finite cover. The proposed framework is based on a switched system approach, and relies on a supervisory switching within a family of pre-computed candidate controllers without individual fault detection and isolation schemes. Each fault set can be accommodated either by one candidate controller or by a set of controllers under an appropriate switching law. Two aircraft examples are included to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

In this paper the hybrid supervisory control architecture developed by Famularo et al. (2011) for constrained control systems is adopted with the aim to improve safety in aircraft operations when critical events like command saturations or unpredicted anomalies occur. The capabilities of a low-computational demanding predictive scheme for the supervision of non-linear dynamical systems subject to sudden switchings amongst operating conditions and time-varying constraints are exploited in the flight control systems framework. The strategy is based on command governor ideas and is tailored to jointly take into account time-varying set-points/constraints. Unpredictable anomalies in the nominal plant behaviour, whose models fall in the category of time-varying constraints, can also be tolerated by the control scheme. In order to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach, simulations both on a high altitude performance demonstrator unmanned aircraft with redundant control surfaces and the P92 general aviation aircraft are discussed.

A new approach to manage actuator redundancy in the presence of faults is proposed based on reliability indicators and a reference governor. The aim is to preserve the health of the actuators and the availability of the system both in the nominal behavior and in the presence of actuator faults. The use of reference governor control allocation is a solution to distribute the control efforts among a redundant set of actuators. In a degraded situation, a reconfigured control allocation strategy is proposed based on on-line re-estimation of the actuator reliability. A benefit of incorporating reliability indicators into over-actuated control system design is the smart management of the redundant actuators and improvement of the system safety. Moreover, when the fault is severe, an adaptation approach using the reference governor is proposed. The reference governor unit is a reference-offset governor based on a discrete-time predictive control strategy. The idea is to modify the reference according to the system constraints, which become stricter after the occurrence of an actuator fault. The proposed approach is illustrated with a flight control application.

An integrated approach to the fault-tolerant control (FTC) of a quadcopter unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with incipient actuator faults is presented. The framework is comprised of a radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) module and a reconfigurable flight controller (RFC) based on the extremum seeking control approach. The dynamics of a quadcopter subject to incipient actuator faults are estimated using a nonlinear identification method comprising a continuous forward algorithm (CFA) and a modified golden section search (GSS) one. A time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) method and the post-fault system estimates are used within the FDD module to compute the fault location and fault magnitude. The impact of bi-directional uncertainty and FDD detection time on the overall FTC performance and system recovery is assessed by simulating a quadcopter UAV during a trajectory tracking mission and is found to be robust against incipient actuator faults during straight and level flight and tight turns.

The paper deals with the problem of robust predictive fault-tolerant control for nonlinear discrete-time systems described by the Takagi-Sugeno models. The proposed approach is based on a triple stage procedure, i.e. it starts from fault estimation while the fault is compensated with a robust controller. The robust controller is designed without taking into account the input constraints related with the actuator saturation that may change due to its faulty behaviour. Thus, to check the compensation feasibility, the robust invariant set is developed, which takes into account the input constraints. If the current state does not belong to the robust invariant set, then suitable predictive control actions are performed in order to enhance the invariant set. This appealing phenomenon makes it possible to enlarge the domain of attraction, which makes the proposed approach an efficient solution for the fault-tolerant control. The final part of the paper shows an illustrative example regarding the application of the proposed approach to the twin-rotor system.

The prospective work reported in this paper explores a new approach to enhance the performance of an active fault tolerant control system. The proposed technique is based on a modified recovery/trajectory control system in which a reconfigurable reference input is considered when performance degradation occurs in the system due to faults in actuator dynamics. An added value of this work is to reduce the energy spent to achieve the desired closed-loop performance. This work is justified by the need of maintaining a reliable system in a dynamical way in order to achieve a mission by an autonomous system, e.g., a launcher, a satellite, a submarine, etc. The effectiveness is illustrated using a three-tank system for slowly varying reference inputs corrupted by actuators faults.

In this paper, integral sliding mode control ideas are combined with direct control allocation in order to create a fault tolerant control scheme. Traditional integral sliding mode control can directly handle actuator faults; however, it cannot do so with actuator failures. Therefore, a mechanism needs to be adopted to distribute the control effort amongst the remaining functioning actuators in cases of faults or failures, so that an acceptable level of closed-loop performance can be retained. This paper considers the possibility of introducing fault tolerance even if fault or failure information is not provided to the control strategy. To demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed scheme, a high fidelity nonlinear model of a large civil aircraft is considered in the simulations in the presence of wind, gusts and sensor noise.

This paper presents a modified version of the control system with model following control (MFC). The auxiliary (corrective) controller has been designed for an input signal, which is the difference between the amplified state vectors of a model and process. The values of gain coefficients of the state variables of the model and process have been calculated according to the LQR (Linear Quadratic Regulator) procedure. It has been proved that a new controller improves the properties of the MFC system.
Artykuł dotyczy dwu pętlowego układu regulacji ze śledzeniem modelu typu MFC (Model Following Control). Układ taki posiada dwa regulatory: główny oraz korekcyjny. W klasycznym rozwiązaniu sygnałem wejściowym regulatora pomocniczego jest różnica sygnałów wyjściowych z modelu i procesu. Pozwala to na generowanie korekcyjnego sygnału błędu w przypadku zaistnienia różnic między procesem i modelem. Takie rozwiązanie nie pozwala jednak w jawny sposób kontrolować zmiennych stanu procesu. Dlatego też w artykule przedstawiono zmodyfikowaną wersję układu regulacji MFC, z regulatorem pomocniczym (korekcyjnym), którego sygnałem wejściowym jest różnica odpowiednio wzmocnionych współrzędnych stanu modelu i procesu. Analizowany układ opisano w przestrzeni zmiennych stanu, a regulator korekcyjny został zaprojektowany jako regulator typu LQR (Linear Quadratic Regulator). W dalszej kolejności przeproawdzono analizę porównawczą własności nowego i klasycznego układu MFC (wartości własne, stopień oscylacyjności, stabilności oraz funkcję wrażliwości). Przedstawiono, że układ MFC może być wykorzystywany również jako tolerujący uszkodzenia (a nie tylko w przypadkach zmian dynamiki procesu), co umieszcza go w klasie układów regulacji odpornych na uszkodzenia. Zostało to zilustrowane przeprowadzonymi badaniami symulacyjnymi.

Using the second Ljapunov method, the design conditions are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities in adapted bounded real lemma structures. Related to the static output controller, and for systems under influence of single actuator faults, the design steps are revealed for a three-tank system plant.

The article discusses the universal current sensor fault detection and compensation mechanism, which can be applied in three-phase power electronics (PE) symmetrical system. The mechanism is based on the assumption that a symmetrical system can be described using different components in the stationary reference frame. The solution given in article as a Cri-base detector was tested in electrical drives with induction motors (IMs) and permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). This study also proves that the same algorithm can work stable in active rectifier systems. Such an application of this detector has not been previously reported in the literature. The article describes the detection of various types of faults in different phases. The fault-tolerant voltage-oriented control (FTVOC) of an active rectifier is compared with previously described solutions for IMs and PMSMs. By analysing in various types of systems, the work proves the universality of the detector based on Cri markers.

Artykuł przedstawia wybrane uwagi związane z tworzeniem lotniczych systemów sterowania i nawigacji, które powinna cechować podwyższona niezawodność działania. Nie podjęto analizy konkretnego przykładu rozwiązań stosowanych w lotnictwie, ale poprzez proste przykłady architektury możliwych do zastosowania w lotnictwie rozwiązań przedstawiono ich wpływ na niezawodność i tolerowanie pojawiających się uszkodzeń. Podjęto w ten sposób próbę uzasadnienia wprowadzania wymagań tolerowania uszkodzeń w tych systemach ze względu na uzyskane wskaźniki niezawodności. Przywołując ogólną postać formuły wnioskowania deontycznego opisującą proces rekonfiguracji zaprezentowano rolę lokalizacji uszkodzeń w poprawnym działaniu takich systemów. Zaproponowany opis stosowanych procedur diagnostyki i rekonfiguracji, poprzez wykorzystanie elementów teorii zbiorów przybliżonych umożliwia zarówno przygotowanie, jak i przeprowadzenie analizy tworzonego systemu z uwzględnieniem właściwości tolerowania pojawiających się uszkodzeń. The aim of the paper is to present a supervisory decentralized architecture for the design and development of reconfigurable and fault-tolerant control systems in road vehicles. The performance specifications are guaranteed by local controllers, while the coordination of these components is provided by a supervisor. Since the monitoring components and FDI filters provide the supervisor with information about the various vehicle maneuvers and the different fault operations, it is able to make decisions about necessary interventions into the vehicle motions and guarantee reconfigurable and fault-tolerant operation of the vehicle. The design of the proposed reconfigurable and fault-tolerant control is based on an LPV method that uses monitored scheduling variables during the operation of the vehicle.

This paper investigates the problem of fault tolerant control of a class of uncertain switched nonlinear systems with time delay under asynchronous switching. The systems under consideration suffer from delayed switchings of the controller. First, a fault tolerant controller is proposed to guarantee exponentially stability of the switched systems with time delay. The dwell time approach is utilized for stability analysis and controller design. Then the proposed approach is extended to take into account switched time delay systems with Lipschitz nonlinearities and structured uncertainties. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A multi-level reconfiguration framework is proposed for fault tolerant control of over-actuated aerial vehicles, where the levels indicate how much authority is given to the reconfiguration task. On the lowest, first level the fault is accommodated by modifying only the actuator/sensor configuration, so the fault remains hidden from the baseline controller. A dynamic reallocation scheme is applied on this level. The allocation mechanism exploits the actuator/sensor redundancy available on the aircraft. When the fault cannot be managed at the actuator/sensor level, the reconfiguration process has access to the baseline controller. Based on the LPV control framework, this is done by introducing fault-specific scheduling parameters. The baseline controller is designed to provide an acceptable performance level along all fault scenarios coded in these scheduling variables. The decision on which reconfiguration level has to be initiated in response to a fault is determined by a supervisor unit. The method is demonstrated on a full six-degrees-of-freedom nonlinear simulation model of the GTM UAV.

This paper presents an adaptive Generalized Likelihood Ratio (GLR) test for multiple Faults Detection and Isolation (FDI) in stochastic linear dynamic systems. Based on the work of Willsky and Jones (1976), we propose a modified generalized likelihood ratio test, allowing detection, isolation and estimation of multiple sequential faults. Our contribution aims to maximise the good decision rate of fault detection using another updating strategy. This is based on a reference model updated on-line after each detection and isolation of one fault. To reduce the computational requirement, the passive GLR test will be derived from a state estimator designed on a fixed reference model directly sensitive to system changes. We will show that active and passive GLR tests will be mixed and give interesting results compared with the GLR of Willsky and Jones (1976), and that they can be easily integrated in a reconfigurable Fault-Tolerant Control System (FTCS) to asymptotically recover the nominal system performances of the jump-free system.

Analytical fault detection algorithms have the potential to reduce the size, power and weight of safety-critical aerospace systems. Analytical redundancy has been successfully applied in many non-safety critical applications. However, acceptance for aerospace applications will require new methods to rigorously certify the impact of such algorithms on the overall system reliability. This paper presents a theoretical method to assess the probabilistic performance for an analytically redundant system. Specifically, a fault tolerant actuation system is considered. The system consists of dual-redundant actuators and an analytical fault detection algorithm to switch between the hardware components. The exact system failure rate per hour is computed using the law of total probability. This analysis requires knowledge of the failure rates for the hardware components. In addition, knowledge of specific probabilistic performance metrics for the fault detection logic is needed. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the proposed analysis method.

This paper describes the design of fault diagnosis and active fault tolerant control schemes that can be developed for nonlinear systems. The methodology is based on a fault detection and diagnosis procedure relying on adaptive filters designed via the nonlinear geometric approach, which allows obtaining the disturbance de-coupling property. The controller reconfiguration exploits directly the on-line estimate of the fault signal. The classical model of an inverted pendulum on a cart is considered as an application example, in order to highlight the complete design procedure, including the mathematical aspects of the nonlinear disturbance de-coupling method based on the nonlinear differential geometry, as well as the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed approach. Extensive simulations of the benchmark process and Monte Carlo analysis are practical tools for assessing experimentally the robustness and stability properties of the developed fault tolerant control scheme, in the presence of modelling and measurement errors. The fault tolerant control method is also compared with a different approach relying on sliding mode control, in order to evaluate benefits and drawbacks of both techniques. This comparison highlights that the proposed design methodology can constitute a reliable and robust approach for application to real nonlinear processes.

The main purpose of this study is the comparison of two control strategies of wind turbine 4.8 MW, using fuzzy control and proportional integral control, taking into account eight kinds of faults that can occur in a wind turbine model. A technique based on fault diagnosis has been used to detect and isolate faults actuators and sensors in this system, it's about an observer applied to the benchmark model. The obtained results are presented to validate the effectiveness of this diagnostic method and present the results of the proposed control strategies.

Opis:
Development concept of FTC (fault tolerant control) systems based on PLC controllers is presented in the paper. Fault tolerance is achieved thanks to application of virtual sensors and the system software structure reconfiguration mechanisms. The universal software switch acting on the principle of a weighted average is presented. It enables creation of different FTC mechanisms by means of adjusting the appropriate weight values. The virtual sensors are created with use of MITforRD program (Model Identification Tool for Reconstruction and Diagnosis), which is a part of AMandD software package (Advanced Monitoring and Diagnostic System), developed in the Institute of Automatic Control and Robotics of Warsaw University of Technology. They are next converted by specialized programs into the shape individual for each type of PLC controller.
Przedstawiono koncepcję projektowania układów sterowania, bazujących na sterownikach programowalnych PLC, w których tolerowanie uszkodzeń (FTC) osiągane jest poprzez rekonfigurację struktury programowej sytemu i stosowanie redundancji funkcjonalnej w postaci sensorów wirtualnych. Przedstawiono uniwersalny programowy przełącznik/switch sygnałów wejściowych, działający na zasadzie średniej ważonej. Przez odpowiedni dobór wartości wag, umożliwia on tworzenie różnorodnych mechanizmów tolerowania uszkodzeń i stanów nieprawidłowego funkcjonowania systemu. Przykładowo, dynamiczna zmiana wartości wag wszystkich wejść w zakresie 0-1 tak, aby ich suma była równa jedności, pozwala na elastyczne dopasowanie się do zmiany punktu pracy procesu, czy też wiarygodności pomiarów. Natomiast, przypisanie jednej z wag wartości 1 a pozostałym 0, stanowi redundancję statyczną typu "k z n". Sensory wirtualne są kreowane na bazie modeli procesu generowanych z użyciem programu MITforRD (Model Identification Tool for Reconstruction and Diagnosis), jednego z elementów środowiska programowego AMandD (Advanced Monitoring and Diagnostic System), przeznaczonego do monitorowania, diagnozowania, identyfikacji i symulacji procesów i systemów, opracowanego w IAiR PW. Konwersja modeli do postaci bloków funkcyjnych FBD dokonywana jest za pomocą programów przygotowanych indywidualnie dla każdego typu sterownika PLC.

Opis:
Mechanisms of fault tolerance to actuator faults in a control structure with a predictive constrained set-point optimizer are proposed. The structure considered consists of a basic feedback control layer and a local supervisory set-point optimizer which executes as frequently as the feedback controllers do with the aim to recalculate the set-points both for constraint feasibility and economic performance. The main goal of the presented reconfiguration mechanisms activated in response to an actuator blockade is to continue the operation of the control system with the fault, until it is fixed. This may be even long-term, if additional manipulated variables are available. The mechanisms are relatively simple and consist in the reconfiguration of the model structure and the introduction of appropriate constraints into the optimization problem of the optimizer, thus not affecting the numerical effectiveness. Simulation results of the presented control system for a multivariable plant are provided, illustrating the efficiency of the proposed approach.

Opis:
The presented station prepared for the design of fault tolerant control (FTC) systems has been created in the Institute of Automatic Control and Robotics at Warsaw University of Technology. It consists of the hydraulic installation equipped with Emerson's instrumentation, DeltaV-control system and AMandD-advanced monitoring and diagnostic system. The fault tolerance of certain sensors, controllers, actuators, and process components can be achieved by the use of functional redundancy, which consists in the performance of appropriate changes in the operation manner of the faulty system. The various industrial FTC applications and new diagnostic-protection algorithms can be developed on the basis of considered station.
Zaprezentowano stanowisko do projektowania systemów sterowania tolerujących uszkodzenia (FTC) opracowane i zrealizowane w Instytucie Automatyki i Robotyki Politechniki Warszawskiej. Składa się ono z instalacji hydraulicznej wyposażonej w oprzyrządowanie firmy Emerson, system sterowania Delta V oraz zaawansowany system monitorowania i diagnostyki procesów AMandD. Tolerowanie uszkodzeń urządzeń pomiarowych i wykonawczych oraz elementów instalacji technologicznej jest osiągane poprzez zastosowanie redundancji funkcjonalnej polegającej na dokonywaniu odpowiednich zmian w sposobie działania uszkodzonego systemu. Stanowisko umożliwia przygotowywanie przemysłowych aplikacji systemów FTC oraz opracowywanie nowych algorytmów diagnostyczno-zabezpieczających.

This paper proposes a fault tolerant control scheme based on an unknown input observer for a wind turbine system subject to an actuator fault and disturbance. Firstly, an unknown input observer for state estimation and fault detection using a linear parameter varying model is developed. By solving linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) and linear matrix equalities (LMEs), the gains of the unknown input observer are obtained. The convergence of the unknown input observer is also analysed with Lyapunov theory. Secondly, using fault estimation, an active fault tolerant controller is applied to a wind turbine system. Finally, a simulation of a wind turbine benchmark with an actuator fault is tested for the proposed method. The simulation results indicate that the proposed FTC scheme is efficient.

Opis:
The paper deals with the modeling and fault-tolerant control of a real battery assembly system which is under implementation at the RAFI GmbH company (one of the leading electronic manufacturing service providers in Germany). To model and control the battery assembly system, a unified max-plus algebra and model predictive control framework is introduced. Subsequently, the control strategy is enhanced with fault-tolerance features that increase the overall performance of the production system being considered. In particular, it enables tolerating (up to some degree) mobile robot, processing and transportation faults. The paper discusses also robustness issues, which are inevitable in real production systems. As a result, a novel robust predictive fault-tolerant strategy is developed that is applied to the battery assembly system. The last part of the paper shows illustrative examples, which clearly exhibit the performance of the proposed approach.

In this paper, a Fault Tolerant Control (FTC) strategy for Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) systems that can be used in the case of actuator faults is proposed. The idea of this FTC method is to adapt the faulty plant instead of adapting the controller to the faulty plant. This approach can be seen as a kind of virtual actuator. An integrated FTC design procedure for the fault identification and fault-tolerant control schemes using LPV techniques is provided as well. Fault identification is based on the use of an Unknown Input Observer (UIO). The FTC controller is implemented as a state feedback controller and designed using polytopic LPV techniques and Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) regions in such a way as to guarantee the closed-loop behavior in terms of several LMI constraints. To assess the performance of the proposed approach, a two degree of freedom helicopter is used.

In this paper, a new approach regarding a reconfigured system is proposed to improve the performance of an active fault tolerant control system. The system performance is evaluated with an intelligent index of performance. The reconfiguration mechanism is based on a model predictive controller and reference trajectory management techniques. When an actuator fault occurs in the system, a new degraded reference trajectory is generated and the controller calculates new admissible controls. A constraint set and cost function are established to avoid actuator saturation and reduce the control energy spent in closed loop dynamics. The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated using a hydrothermal system subject to actuator faults and constraints on actuator dynamic ranges.

Opis:
A robust economic model predictive control approach that takes into account the reliability of actuators in a network is presented for the control of a drinking water network in the presence of uncertainties in the forecasted demands required for the predictive control design. The uncertain forecasted demand on the nominal MPC may make the optimization process intractable or, to a lesser extent, degrade the controller performance. Thus, the uncertainty on demand is taken into account and considered unknown but bounded in a zonotopic set. Based on this uncertainty description, a robust MPC is formulated to ensure robust constraint satisfaction, performance, stability as well as recursive feasibility through the formulation of an online tube-based MPC and an accompanying appropriate terminal set. Reliability is then modelled based on Bayesian networks, such that the resulting nonlinear function accommodated in the optimization setup is presented in a pseudo-linear form by means of a linear parameter varying representation, mitigating any additional computational expense thanks to the formulation as a quadratic optimization problem. With the inclusion of a reliability index to the economic dominant cost of the MPC, the network users’ requirements are met whilst ensuring improved reliability, therefore decreasing short and long term operational costs for water utility operators. Capabilities of the designed controller are demonstrated with simulated scenarios on the Barcelona drinking water network.

Reliability and safety of an electro-hydraulic position servo system (EHPSS) can be greatly reduced for potential sensor and actuator faults. This paper proposes a novel reconfiguration control (RC) scheme that combines multi-model and adaptive control to compensate for the adverse effects. Such a design includes several fixed models, one adaptive model, and one reinitialized adaptive model. Each of the models has its own independent controller that is based on a complete parametrization of the corresponding fault. A proper switching mechanism is set up to select the most appropriate controller to control the current plant. The system output can track the reference model asymptotically using the proposed method. Simulation results validate robustness and effectiveness of the proposed scheme. The main contribution is a reconfiguration control method that can handle component faults and maintain the acceptable performance of the EHPSS.

W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję projektowania układów automatyki, bazujących na sterownikach PLC, tolerujących uszkodzenia (FTC). Tolerowanie uszkodzeń osiągane jest dzięki stosowaniu sensorów wirtualnych oraz mechanizmów rekonfiguracji struktury programowej układu. Omówiono uniwersalny, programowy przełącznik rekonfiguracyjny, działający na zasadzie średniej ważonej, który przez odpowiedni dobór wag umożliwia realizację szeregu mechanizmów FTC. Sensory wirtualne projektowane są z użyciem opracowanego w Instytucie Automatyki i Robotyki Politechniki Warszawskiej programu MITforRD oraz programów konwertujących modele do postaci bloków funkcyjnych FB danego sterownika PLC.

An active sensor fault tolerant controller for nonlinear systems represented by a decoupled multimodel is proposed. Active fault tolerant control requires accurate fault estimation. Thus, to estimate both state variables and sensor faults, a discrete unknown input multiobserver, based on an augmented state multimodel, is designed. The multiobserver gains are computed by solving linear matrix inequalities with equality constraints. A multicontrol strategy is proposed for the compensation of the sensor fault and recovering the desired performances. This strategy integrates a bank of controllers, corresponding to a set of partial models, to generate a set of control laws compensating the fault effect. Then, a switching strategy between the generated local control laws is established in order to apply the most suitable control law that tolerates the fault and maintains good closed loop performances. The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is proven through a numerical example and also through a real time application on a chemical reactor. The obtained results confirm satisfactory closed loop performance in terms of trajectory tracking and fault tolerance.

A novel fault-tolerant tracking control scheme based on an adaptive robust observer for non-linear systems is proposed. Additionally, it is presumed that the non-linear system may be faulty, i.e., affected by actuator and sensor faults along with the disturbances, simultaneously. Accordingly, the stability of the robust observer as well as the fault-tolerant tracking controller is achieved by using the ℋ∞ approach. Furthermore, unknown actuator and sensor faults and states are bounded by the uncertainty intervals for estimation quality assessment as well as reliable fault diagnosis. This means that narrow intervals accompany better estimation quality. Thus, to cope with the above difficulty, it is assumed that the disturbances are over-bounded by an ellipsoid. Consequently, the performance and correctness of the proposed fault-tolerant tracking control scheme are verified by using a non-linear twin-rotor aerodynamical laboratory system.

In this paper, a control framework including active fault-tolerant control (FTC) and reference redesign is developed subject to actuator stuck failures under input saturations. FTC synthesis and reference redesign approaches are proposed to guarantee post-fault system safety and reference reachability. Then, these features are analyzed under both actuator stuck failures and constraints before fault-tolerant controller switches. As the main contribution, actuator stuck failures and constraints are unified so that they can be easily considered simultaneously. By means of transforming stuck failures into actuator constraints, the post-fault system can be regarded as an equivalent system with only asymmetrical actuator constraints. Thus, methods against actuator saturations can be used to guarantee regional stability and produce the stability region. Based on this region, stuck compensation is analyzed. Specifically, an unstable open-loop system is considered, which is more challenging. Furthermore, the method is extended to a set-point tracking problem where the reachability of the original reference can be evaluated. Then, a new optimal reference will be computed for the post-fault system if the original one is unreachable. Finally, simulation examples are shown to illustrate the theoretical results.

Fault-tolerant control systems possess the ability of rejecting the effect of faults. They are capable of maintaining overall system stability and acceptable performance in degraded modes. Through many researches, the analysis, modeling, and simulation of various inverter and machine faults have been carried out for the purpose of providing a fault tolerance. Among the real-time based approaches for the fault detection and diagnosis, there are several strategies such as the pseudo inverse method, the linear quadratic approach and Extended Kalman Filter based Fault Tolerant Control (EKF-FTC). In recent years the application of Kalman filter approaches has gained an increasing attention in fundamental research and application. In this paper, a FTC method dedicated to Induction Motor (IM) drive is presented. The proposed method based on an additive term to the backstepping control which based on the error of current during the appearance of fault and the adaptive gain of the Kalman filter. This method improves the performance of the backstepping control to maintain the operation despite the appearance of faults. The main objective is to ensure a minimum level of performance of the drive system that is malfunctioning.
Odporne na błędy układy sterowania mają zdolność eliminacji wpływu zakłóceń. Potrafią one utrzymywać ogólną stabilność i akceptowalne działanie systemu w trybach awaryjnych. Dzięki wielu badaniom przeprowadzono analizę, modelowanie i symulację różnych błędów falownika i maszyny w celu zapewnienia odporności na błędy. Większość z nich wynika jednak z zasady redundancji systemów. Wśród strategii wykrywania i diagnozowania błędów w czasie rzeczywistym można wyróżnić przykładowo metodę pseudoodwrotną, metodę liniowo-kwadratową i sterowanie odporne na błędy przy użyciu rozszerzonego filtra Kalmana (EKF-FTC). W ostatnich latach metodom z użyciem filtra Kalmana poświęca się coraz więcej uwagi w podstawowych badaniach i zastosowaniach. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono metodę FTC zastosowaną do napędu silnika indukcyjnego (IM). Proponowana metoda polega na dodaniu do sterowania metodą całkowania wstecznego (ang. backstepping) członu addytywnego, która polega na wystąpieniu uchybu prądu w razie błędu i wzmocnienia adaptacyjnego filtra Kalmana. Metoda ta poprawia wydajność sterowania za pomocą wstecznego całkowania w celu podtrzymania pracy pomimo wystąpienia błędów. Głównym celem jest zapewnienie minimalnego poziomu wydajności niesprawnego układu napędowego.

This paper presents an approach to fault tolerant control based on the sensor masking principle in the case of wireless networked control systems. With wireless transmission, packet losses act as sensor faults. In the presence of such faults, the faulty measurements corrupt directly the behaviour of closed-loop systems. Since the controller aims at cancelling the error between the measurement and its reference input, the real outputs will, in such a networked control system, deviate from the desired value and may drive the system to its physical limitations or even to instability. The proposed method facilitates fault compensation based on an interacting multiple model approach developed in the framework of channel errors or network congestion equivalent to multiple sensors failures. The interacting multiple model method involved in a networked control system provides simultaneously detection and isolation of on-line packet losses, and also performs a suitable state estimation. Based on particular knowledge of packet losses, sensor fault-tolerant controls are obtained by computing a new control law using fault-free estimation of the faulty element to avoid intermittent observations that might develop into failures and to minimize the effects on system performance and safety.

The paper presents the analysis of different fault states in drive systems with multiphase induction motors. The mathematical models of a five-phase and six-phase induction motor and the MRASCC estimator have been presented and the description of the Space Vector Modulation has been shown. The Direct Field-Oriented Control (DFOC) system is analyzed. Results of the simulation and experimental studies of the Direct Field-Oriented Control systems in the fault conditions are presented. The author’s original contribution includes analysis and studies of the DFOC control method of a five-phase induction motor resistant to the motor speed sensor fault with the use of the MRASCC estimator.

The paper investigates the case where the system is degradable multi-processor network organized as a 4-dimensional cube in which only processors may fail and a diagnosis is performed by the comparison method. The network degradation characteristics are defined and discussed. An analytical method of determining characteristics of a network performance degradation is proposed. On the basis of determined characteristics of the network performance degradation, a set of probability distributions of the number of failures of working processors in the network after which it loses the ability to function was depicted.

The reliability of technical systems can be greatly reduced if possible faults cannot be accommodated but lead to system shut-down with sometimes catastrophic consequences. The algorithms and systems of fault-tolerant control were developed in the last years into a powerful tool to accommodate such faults. Additionally, it became obvious that the design of a technical system can ease or hinder the application of these tools and can also lead to the accommodation of faults be itself. This kind of design – fault-tolerant design – and its components are presented in this paper on the example of a shifting system for the gear box an autonomous driving race car. This race car competes in the well-known formula student driverless competition; in such competitions the reliability of the car and the capability to accommodate not avoidable faults is of paramount importance. The different elements of fault-tolerance incorporated in the design of the gear shifting system are explained on the basis of an established model of product concretization.
Niezawodność systemów technicznych może być znacznie ograniczona w przypadku braku odpowiedniej akomodacji uszkodzeń, która może doprowadzić do awarii systemu mogącej mieć katastrofalne konsekwencje. W celu przeciwdziałania temu niepożądanemu zjawisku, w ostatnich latach opracowano szereg algorytmów sterowania tolerującego uszkodzenia, umożliwiających odpowiednią akomodację uszkodzeń. Dodatkowo, oczywistym jest, że sposób projektowania danego systemu może ułatwić lub utrudnić funkcjonowanie powyższych algorytmów. Może one również sam w sobie umożliwiać odpowiednią akomodację uszkodzeń. Tak sposób projektowania, projektowanie tolerujące uszkodzenia, jest przedmiotem niniejszej pracy na przykładzie systemu zmiany biegów w autonomicznych pojeździe wyścigowym. Powyższy pojazd współzawodniczy w znanych studenckich zawodach wyścigowych pojazdów autonomicznych. Oczywistym jest fakt, że w tego typu zawodach, niezawodność pojazdu i jego zdolność akomodacji uszkodzeń jest szczególnie ważna. W pracy rozważa się różne element projektowania tolerującego uszkodzenia systemu zmiany biegów opisanego na podstawie ustalonego modelu konkretyzacji produktu.

The main purpose of this paper is to present how the new information technologies can be used to aid engineering education in the area of fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control. A 3D virtual reality model of the second stage of a water filtration system together with its simulation model are pointed out as a useful learning mean for stimulating education in the domain of advanced control theory at the university level. Some applications of the elaborated tool for presenting either fault diagnosis or fault-tolerant control issues are given and the most important merits and limits of the proposed approach in the education process discussed.
Głównym celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie nowych technologii informacyjnych do wspomagania nauczania w zakresie diagnostyki procesów i sterowania odpornego na błędy i uszkodzenia. Zaproponowano trójwymiarowy wirtualny model układu filtracji wody stanowiący jeden ze stopni systemu przygotowania wody w elektrowni. Model ten połączono z jego modelem symulacyjnym, otrzymując narzędzie przydatne do stymulacji procesu nauczania akademickiego w zakresie zaawansowanych systemów sterowania. W artykule pokazano przykłady zastosowania opracowanego systemu informatycznego do prezentacji zagadnień z diagnostyki uszkodzeń oraz sterowania odpornego. Artykuł kończy dyskusja na temat zalet i ograniczeń proponowanego podejścia w zakresie procesu kształcenia.

A major goal in modern flight control systems is the need for improving reliability. This work presents a health-aware and fault-tolerant control approach for an octorotor UAV that allows distributing the control effort among the available actuators based on their health information. However, it is worth mentioning that, in the case of actuator fault occurrence, a reliability improvement can come into conflict with UAV controllability. Therefore, system reliability sensitivity is redefined and modified to prevent uncontrollable situations during the UAV’s mission. The priority given to each actuator is related to its importance in system reliability. Moreover, the proposed approach can reconfigure the controller to compensate actuator faults and improve the overall system reliability or delay maintenance tasks.

This paper presents a concept of designing fault tolerant control systems with the use of suboptimal methods. We assume that a given (nonlinear) dynamical process is described in a state space. The method consists in searching (at the off-line stage) for a trajectory of operational points of the system state space. The sought trajectory can be constrained by certain conditions, which can express faults or failures already detected. Within this approach, we are able to use the autonomous dynamics of the process in order to minimize a control cost index (a sub-optimality property). The search itself is based on finding a cheapest path in a graph structure, which represents the system’s dynamics described in the state space. Such a cheapest path (if it exists) represents the sought trajectory. Another (on-line) design stage consists in tracking this trajectory by an executive controller.

The paper deals with the problem of health-aware fault-tolerant control of a vehicle fleet. In particular, the development process starts with providing the description of the process along with a suitable Internet-of-Things platform, which enables appropriate communication within the vehicle fleet. It also indicates the transportation tasks to the designated drivers and makes it possible to measure their realization times. The second stage pertains to the description of the analytical model of the transportation system, which is obtained with the max-plus algebra. Since the vehicle fleet is composed of heavy duty machines, it is crucial to monitor and analyze the degradation of their selected mechanical components. In particular, the components considered are ball bearings, which are employed in almost every mechanical transportation system. Thus, a fuzzy logic Takagi–Sugeno approach capable of assessing their time-to-failure is proposed. This information is utilized in the last stage, which boils down to health-aware and fault-tolerant control of the vehicle fleet. In particular, it aims at balancing the exploitation of the vehicles in such a way as to maximize they average time-to-failure. Moreover, the fault-tolerance is attained by balancing the use of particular vehicles in such a way as to minimize the effect of possible transportation delays within the system. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed approach is validated using selected simulation scenarios involving vehicle-based transportation tasks.

Essential ingredients for fault-tolerant control are the ability to represent system behaviour following the occurrence of a fault, and the ability to exploit this representation for deciding control actions. Gaussian processes seem to be very promising candidates for the first of these, and model predictive control has a proven capability for the second. We therefore propose to use the two together to obtain fault-tolerant control functionality. Our proposal is illustrated by several reasonably realistic examples drawn from flight control.

This paper deals with a Fault Tolerant Control (FTC) strategy for polytopic Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) systems. The main contribution consists in the design of a Static Output Feedback (SOF) dedicated to such systems in the presence of multiple actuator faults/failures. The controllers are synthesized through Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) in both faultfree and faulty cases in order to preserve the system closed-loop stability. Hence, this paper provides a new sufficient (but not necessary) condition for the solvability of the stabilizing output feedback control problem. An example illustrates the effectiveness and performances of the proposed FTC method.

Modern induction motor (IM) drives with a higher degree of safety should be equipped with fault-tolerant control (FTC) solutions. Current sensor (CS) failures constitute a serious problem in systems using vector control strategies for IMs because these methods require state variable reconstruction, which is usually based on the IM mathematical model and stator current measurement. This article presents an analysis of the operation of the direct torque control (DTC) for IM drive with stator current reconstruction after CSs damage. These reconstructed currents are used for the stator flux and electromagnetic torque estimation in the DTC with space-vector-modulation (SVM) drive. In this research complete damage to both stator CSs is assumed, and the stator current vector components in the postfault mode are reconstructed based on the DC link voltage of the voltage source inverter (VSI) and angular rotor speed measurements using the so-called virtual current sensor (VCS), based on the IM mathematical model. Numerous simulation and experimental tests results illustrate the behavior of the drive system in different operating conditions. The correctness of the stator current reconstruction is also analyzed taking into account motor parameter uncertainties, especially stator and rotor resistances, which usually are the main parameters that determine the proper operation of the stator flux and torque estimation in the DTC control structure.

This paper considers the problem of fault-tolerant control (FTC) and fault reconstruction of actuator faults for linear parameter varying (LPV) descriptor systems with time delay. A polytopic sliding mode observer (PSMO) is synthesized to achieve simultaneous reconstruction of LPV polytopic descriptor system states and actuator faults. Exploiting the reconstructed actuator faults and state estimates, a fault-tolerant controller is designed to compensate the impact of actuator faults on system performance by stabilizing the closed-loop LPV delayed descriptor system. Besides, the controller and PSMO gains are obtained throughout the resolution of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) using convex optimization techniques. The developed PSMO could force the output estimation error to converge to zero in a finite time when the actuators faults are bounded through the reinjection of the output estimation error via a nonlinear switching term. Simulation results applied to a given numerical system are presented to highlight the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed approach.

The paper presents a solution for sensorless field oriented control (FOC) system for five-phase induction motors with improved rotor flux pattern. In order to obtain the advantages of a third harmonic injection with a quasi-trapezoidal flux shape, two vector models, α1–β1 and α3–β3, were transformed into d1– q1, d3– q3 rotating frames, which correlate to the 1st and 3rd harmonic plane respectively. A linearization approach of the dual machine model in d – q coordinate frames is proposed by introducing a new additional variable “x” which is proportional to the electromagnetic torque. By applying the static feedback control law, a dual mathematical model of the five-phase induction motor was linearized to synthesize a control system in which the electromagnetic torque and the rotor flux can be independently controlled. The results shows the air gap flux shape in steady as well transient states under various load conditions. Moreover, the implemented control structure acquires fault tolerant properties and leads to possible emergency running with limited operation capabilities. The fault-tolerant capability of the analyzed machine was guaranteed by a special implemented control system with a dedicated speed observer, which is insensitive to open-phase fault situation. The experimental tests have been performed with single and double-open stator phase fault. A torque measurement was implemented to present the mechanical characteristics under healthy and faulty conditions of the drive system.

Opis:
A solution for fault tolerant control (FTC) of a quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is proposed. It relies on model reference-based control, where a reference model generates the desired trajectory. Depending on the type of reference model used for generating the reference trajectory, and on the assumptions about the availability and uncertainty of fault estimation, different error models are obtained. These error models are suitable for passive FTC, active FTC and hybrid FTC, the latter being able to merge the benefits of active and passive FTC while reducing their respective drawbacks. The controller is generated using results from the robust linear parameter varying (LPV) polytopic framework, where the vector of varying parameters is used to schedule between uncertain linear time invariant (LTI) systems. The design procedure relies on solving a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) in order to achieve regional pole placement and H∞ norm bounding constraints. Simulation results are used to compare the different FTC strategies.

W artykule podano model formalny struktury logicznej sieci procesorów typu sześcian czterowymiarowy oraz zdefiniowano pojęcie klasy kompozycji struktury. Zaproponowano metodę komponowania struktur logicznych sieci o określonych właściwościach za pomocą działań na wprowadzonej skondensowanej postaci struktury. Określono własności takich działań oraz podano zbiór wzorców, które mogą indukować poszukiwane struktury. Wyznaczono liczebności zbiorów spójnych i spójnych cyklicznych struktur etykietowanych oraz spójnych cyklicznych struktur nieetykietowanych, a także etykietowanych drzew o p ∈{4,..., 9} procesorach. W ogólnym zarysie przedstawiono sposób takiej reprezentacji geometrycznej struktury, który zawiera wszystkie procesory i linie transmisji danych oraz ma minimalną liczbę przecięć linii krawędziowych.
A formal model of the logical structure of a 4-dimensional cube-type processor network is presented, and the concept of a composition structure class is defined. The paper proposes a method for creating logical network structures with specific properties with the help of actions on the proposed condensed structure form. Properties of such actions were defined, and a set of patterns were provided which may induce the searched structures. The number of coherent sets and coherent cyclic labelled structures as well as coherent cyclic non-labelled structures, as well labelled and non-labelled trees with processors were determined. The article presents (in general terms) geometric representation of the structure, which contains all the processors and data transmission lines and has a minimal number of intersections of edge lines, which is important for network management.

W artykule rozwinięto metodę generowania struktur logicznych sieci procesorów o łagodnej degradacji typu 4-wymiarowy hipersześcian, zaproponowaną w artykule [8], oraz przedstawiono sposób zastosowania tej metody do wyznaczenia obrazów geometrycznych cyklicznych i acyklicznych struktur roboczych takiej sieci o co najmniej czterech procesorach. Wyznaczono szeregi przeliczające etykietowanych oraz nieetykietowanych struktur roboczych sieci.
In the work, the formal model of the logical structure of a 4-dimensional hypercube processor network and the method of a composition structure were developed based on the method proposed in [8]. The method for determining geometrical form of logical network cyclic and acyclic working structures with the use of operations on the proposed condensed structure form was presented. Counting series for labelled and unlabelled working structures were determined.

The paper deals with the fault tolerant control in two-loop control system structure (MFC/IMC, Model Following Control/Internal Model Control). System consists of the model of a nonlinear plant ( main ship engine) and two PID controllers. In distinction from other works on this subject (the MFC/IMC structure), special attention was paid to robustness of the linearized structure to perturbations caused by the plant parameters changes, different uncertainties, changes of the operating points and tuning parameters of the controllers as well as catastrophic failures formed in the considered structure. The simulations carried out in MATLABŽ/SimulinkŽ software.
Artykuł dotyczy regulacji odpornej w dwu pętlowej strukturze MFC/IMC zawierającej model nieliniowego obiektu regulacji (prędkości obrotowej wału okrętowego silnika głównego) i dwa regulatory PID. W odróżnieniu od innych prac na temat struktury MFC/IMC, w artykule tym szczególną uwagę zwrócono na odporność struktury zlinearyzowanej na perturbacje parametrów regulowanego procesu, odporność na perturbacje spowodowane różnymi zaburzeniami, np. wywołanymi zmianami punktów pracy obiektu, parametrami regulatorów lub uszkodzeniami katastroficznymi struktury. Symulacje zostały wykonane w programie MATLABŽ/SimulinkŽ.

Opis:
New methodologies for Fault Tolerant Control (FTC) are proposed in order to compensate actuator faults in nonlinear systems. These approaches are based on the representation of the nonlinear system by a Takagi-Sugeno model. Two control laws are proposed requiring simultaneous estimation of the system states and of the occurring actuator faults. The first approach concerns the stabilization problem in the presence of actuator faults. In the second, the system state is forced to track a reference trajectory even in faulty situation. The control performance depends on the estimation quality; indeed, it is important to accurately and rapidly estimate the states and the faults. This task is then performed with an Adaptive Fast State and Fault Observer (AFSFO) for the first case, and a Proportional-Integral Observer (PIO) in the second. Stability conditions are established with Lyapunov theory and expressed in a Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) formulation to ease the design of FTC. Furthermore, relaxed stability conditions are given with the use of Polya's theorem. Some simulation examples are given in order to illustrate the proposed approaches.

Networked Control Systems (NCSs) deal with feedback control systems with loops closed via data communication networks. Control over a network has many advantages compared with traditionally controlled systems, such as a lower implementation cost, reduced wiring, simpler installation and maintenance and higher reliability. Nevertheless, the network-induced delay, packet dropout, asynchronous behavior and other specificities of networks will degrade the performance of closed-loop systems. In this context, it is necessary to develop a new theory for systems that operate in a distributed and asynchronous environment. Research on Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) for NCSs has received increasing attention in recent years. This paper reviews the state of the art in this topic.

Opis:
The article describes standard safety-protection layers according to EN 61511 standard. Their aim is to reduce risk, thus to decrease the frequency of occurrence of threatening incidents and/or consequences of such incidents. The aim of the article was to present currently developed means of increasing process safety, which are not included in the standards. There are described: advisory diagnostic systems, fault tolerant control systems, process simulators for operators training and IT systems supporting safety. Such components can be treated as additional layers of process protection. A simple example comparing the operation of alarm and diagnostic systems as well as the example of the fault tolerant control system of the level in the drum boiler in sugar factory are given.

Opis:
The iterative learning fault-tolerant control strategies with non-strict repetitive initial state disturbances are studied for the linear discrete networked control systems (NCSs) and the nonlinear discrete NCSs. In order to reduce the influence of the initial state disturbance in iteration, for the linear NCSs, considering the external disturbance and actuator failure, the iterative learning fault-tolerant control strategy with impulse function is proposed. For the nonlinear NCSs, the external disturbance, packet loss and actuator failure are considered, the iterative learning fault-tolerant control strategy with random Bernoulli sequence is provided. Finally, the proposed control strategies are used for simulation research for the linear NCSs and the nonlinear NCSs. The results show that both strategies can reduce the influence of the initial state disturbance on the tracking effect, which verifies the effectiveness of the given method.
