Introduction. The cognitive functions usable in the sports performance are for example an ability to anticipate, perception and speed of movement reactions, decision-making ability or attention. These abilities or functions apply differently to different sports. It means that open skill sports such as team sports, require the coordination of complex bodily movements and adaptation to continually changing task demands.The aim of this study is to identify differences in the level of female's cognitive functions regarding the chosenopen skill sportsand closed skill sport disciplines. Material and Methods. The research group consisted of 84 women aged 22.70±1.71 years. Women were divided into three groups in terms of sport discipline into: female engaged in closed skill sport disciplines (n=26), in open skill sport disciplines (n=19) and not engaged in any sport activity (n=39). We used standardized S-test to determine the level of cognitive functions. It is a test of spatial orientation and concentration of attention with accentuated demands on the pace of activity. Results. The results have shown that female engaged in open skill sport disciplines have shown higher level of cognitive functions than female engaged in closed skill sport disciplines (p=0.04) and also as nonathletes (p=0.02). There was no difference in cognitive function between female engaged in closed skill sport disciplines and nonathletes. Conclusions. Our results confirm the theory of different involvement of cognitive functions from the point of view of different types of sport disciplines.

Main methodological issues – research paradigms and research tools were also discussed. The last part gives short presentation of new trends in reproductive psychology research, ie. psychological aspects of assisted reproductive technologies, traumatic stress related to reproductive experiences and analyses of male perspective on procreation.

The h-index concept has been analysed in aspects of a contemporary tendency of parameterisation of everything and as the potential measure of the knowledge progress, which recognises individuals, institutions and Engineering sub-disciplines that best generate new knowledge. Considerations have been presented at the level of universality of knowledge which implies permanent progress and on the base of careful thoughts of the domestic experience. The h-nature of things has been described, and several axiomatic characterisations of the Hirsch index have been gathered. The mechanism how to increase the h-index has been presented. Some similarities between h-index and the journal impact factor (JIF) have been stressed. Also the universal role of H-index in ranking countries in all areas and in Engineering has been exampled in extended tables. The Glänzel’s model which connects the h-index with two fundamental scientometric indicators: number of publications and the rate of citation, has been analysed. Following the Microsoft Academic Search, the lists of 15 top scientists from various academic disciplines and separately in Engineering have been composed. It has been found that the population of the best keeps basically the same relations between the h-index and a number of publication, and between the h-index and a citation number. However, even the best in Engineering should publish 2 times a year or more papers to receive the same h-index as top scientists in overall domains. The h-index distribution of domestic Engineering sub-disciplines has been presented and analysed in statistic categories. The suitable hhistograms and the cumulative probability density function (CPDF) have been elaborated for 21 sub-disciplines and thereupon the Engineering sub-disciplines have been arranged into three clusters. It has been demonstrated that Engineering as the whole and Engineering sub-disciplines are underestimated, compared to other academic disciplines. The adequate normalisation factors have been suggested. Several other conclusions considered the h,H-indices as the measure of the knowledge progress addressed to individual researchers and to collective, e.g., journals, institutions, organisations, countries, adequately have been written. The h,H-indices are the general measure of the position of the given subject (person or organisation) but cannot be universal.

The starting point o f this contribution is the assumption that there is an overall uncertainty about the use o f the term discourse in various disciplines. The author presents different ways of understanding discourse in philosophy (primarily by Habermas and Foucault). The core part of the paper discusses the heterogeneous linguistic concepts of discourse, starting from the idea o f discourse as a simple conversation through Critical DiscourseAnalysis and institutionalised interai rons up to textology-based concept of discourse. Particular attention is devoted to the use o f the notion o f discourse in sociology (and its related disciplines such as historiography, political science and media stuaies). When describing the concepts o f discourse in various disciplines the author draws attention to the vaned methods o f discourse analysis applied there, including the universal model byWamke/Spitzmiiller. The finał section identifies and critically discusses problem areas in discourse studies. The paper also postulates that the current the fascination with Foucault should be abandoned wlien circumscribing the scope of discourse studies in favour of strwing for pragmatic and communicative adeąuacy.

The purpose of this paper is to determine, which of the independent scientific disciplines dealing with issues related to the European Union offers the research approach most apt for constructing theories of European integration and whether the basic theoretical paradigms of this discipline are sufficient to construct them. In order to achieve this, the following four perspectives of scientific disciplines have been analysed: political sciences, law, economics and sociology. The results of these considerations indicate that political sciences has the greatest influence on shaping the theories of European integration. Next, in order to the decide, whether the basic theoretical paradigms of political sciences are sufficient to construct theories of European integration, such theories as federalism, functionalism and intergovernmental approach have been analysed. To conclude, it can be said that in the case of federalism and intergovernmental approach – they are, and in the case of functionalism they are not.

One of the most interesting methodological problems of empirical science is the one how to classify specific disciplines and justify the necessity of their existence. In this article the author presents the different strategies of distinguishing sociological subdisciplines. These considerations will constitute the starting point for determining the current status of maritime sociology as a separate scientific discipline.

Purpose: Many empirical and review studies have been performed in the management and organization literature from the structural social capital perspective. Since these studies focus on different topics periodically, we aimed to make a bibliometric analysis of the structural social capital literature that allows a regular, systematic, and quantitative evaluation of published articles in management and organization science to identify the underlying structure in this research area and to identify the main research themes of the scholarship. Methodology: The bibliographic matching technique was used for checking international databases to explore the main concepts and themes of the management and organization literature and to identify main themes in the research area. Therefore, this article offers a bibliometric analysis of the literature that allows for a regular, systematic, and quantitative evaluation of published articles to identify their underlying structure and to identify the main research themes in the scholarship. Research data were analyzed using the text mining method, which is a sub-branch of the data mining method and one of the most critical ways to analyze and process unstructured data. Findings: Structural social capital studies were examined in management and organization science databases in three periods forming four years. Although there are no completely different emerging themes, we noticed periodic differences and change in priority rankings. Moreover, we found that the subjects repeat every period with few new concepts. Implications: This research shows the main themes in the management and organization literature, where structural social capital elements are examined together, and covers all areas of management, organization and business science. Considering the main topics of the three periods of this research, there are similarities, namely the words that rank among the top in each period are “innovation,” “entrepreneurship,” “knowledge management,” “performance,” “leadership,” “technology,” and “human resources” and these themes are the most prominent. Originality/Value: This research presents an overview of all past studies that focus on the structural social capital present in social interactions. Since structural social capital influences management and organization literature, it is considered a valuable study and a guide for future research.

Purpose: To draw research attention to service management (SM) as a subdiscipline of management science. Service management offers a different, more customer-value-centric perspective that is scarcely present in management science studies, rooted in manufacturing and production management. The purpose is also to define the scope of SM as an area of research in management science. Approach: This is a conceptual article that foregrounds ideas and arguments found in the subject literature. The article analyzes the ideas to build a coherent structure and context for future empirical research. Findings: Service management as a research area evolved from being a subset of monitoring/production management to the forefront of management science thought. Service management provides management science with the capability for staying relevant in the practicing management community. Service management’s importance in management science will continue to grow as there is an increasing number of companies with customer offers called “aaS” (as a Service). Service management presents a clear scope that provides another management science research area and enables it to evolve further. Value: This article is not the first one to touch on the topic and evolution of SM. However, it is the first one to present SM as part of management science’s evolution as an academic discipline and to highlight the dependencies and connections between the two. The article defines what SM is, why it matters for management theorists and practitioners, and how it will enable management science to grow further.

Purpose: The aim of this article is an attempt to characterize economic disciplines, i.e. economics and finance, as well as management and quality studies, based on their assignments to scientific journals, and to identify the place of these two disciplines in relation to each other and their links with other disciplines. Design/methodology/approach: Quantitative and network analysis methods were used for graphical representation and description of the complex relationships. The analysis was based on the data published on 31 July 2019, constituting a list of scientific journals. Findings: The results confirm a strong link between the two disciplines, but they also show some differences between them. The discipline of economics and finance is particularly strongly linked with the discipline of social and economic geography and spatial management. This is not the case for management and quality studies, which is more closely linked to disciplines outside social sciences. Research limitations/implications: The results are based only on a quantitative approach to the relationships between disciplines, therefore, they should not be used to draw too far-reaching conclusions, e.g. on the differences between these two disciplines in methods, subject matter or facilities under analysis. Further research may take into account, for example, different research trends and approaches within the disciplines themselves. Originality/value: Presented network approach shows the connections between scientific disciplines in a new holistic way. The results could be especially interesting for researchers whose studies are interdisciplinary.

This article deals with the European reorganization processes in higher education and in particular the so-called Bologna reform. In the case of German educational science, the Bologna Reform signifies a complete transition from the former study programs that end with a Diploma or Magister exam to the new system of Bachelor and Master degrees. Based on a full survey of current major study programs offered in the area of educational science this article focuses on how the Bologna reform affects the landscape of study programs in educational science. That leads to the question of the consequences for the organization of Educational Science with regard to the academic courses offered and thus for the position of the discipline in the German university system.
Der Beitrag befasst sich mit den europäischen Hochschulrefomprozessen und fokussiert dabei auf den sogenannten Bolognaprozess im Zuge dessen an den deutschen Universitäten eine flächendeckende Umwandlung der ehemaligen Diplom- und Magisterstudiengänge in Bachelor- und Masterstudiengänge stattgefunden hat. Auf der Basis einer Bestandsaufnahme der im Wintersemester 2014/2015 in erziehungswissenschaftlicher Verantwortung angebotenen Hauptfachstudiengänge steht dabei die Frage im Zentrum, wie sich die Studienlandschaft im Bereich der universitären Erziehungswissenschaft in Deutschland im Zuge der Bologna-Reform verändert hat. Daran schließt sich die Diskussion an, welche Konsequenzen die Einführung des Bachelorund Mastersystems für die institutionelle Organisation der Disziplin Erziehungswissenschaft in Form ihrer Studiengänge und damit auch für ihre Stellung im deutschen Hochschulsystem nach sich ziehen könnte.

In athletic sprint disciplines, the segments of start and start acceleration occupy an important place that significantly generates the final outcome of the race. The question is to what extent the start time of the reaction (latent time) has a contribution to achieving the results of sprint disciplines. The aim of the current research was to determine the influence and connection between the reaction time and the result performance of running in the disciplines of 100 m, 200 m, 400 m finalists of ten world championships. The results of a total of 456 finalists (231 men) and 225 (women) competitors who competed in the final races of the championships (from Edmonton, 2001 to Doha, 2019) were analyzed. The evaluation of the start reaction time and sprint results was based on reports officially published by the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF). Central and dispersion parameters were calculated for all variables. The relationship between reaction time and sprint results was calculated using the Pearson correlation coefficient, and simple regression analysis determined the direct influence of reaction time on the result success and calculated the relevant coefficients for the level of statistical significance p < 0.05. Based on the obtained results, a positive but low correlation was recorded between the mean values of the 100 m sprint results and the reaction time in men (r = 0.230p < 0.044), which was also confirmed by regression analysis. In other correlations and values of regression coefficients, no significant numerical values of the influence of reaction time on the result success were recorded in both categories of finalists.

Inquiring Aristotelian conception of rhetoric as an art of persuasion, the author of the article aims in presenting rhetorical ethos and rhetoric itself in reference to practical disciplines, politics and ethics. Understanding rhetoric’s autonomy as a theoretical postulate this inquiries introduce a demand of functionality and axiological awareness: to treat art of rhetoric as an organon for the practical disciplines and to acquire attention of normative problems concerning particular features of rhetoric and rhetorical ethos. The article investigates Aristotle’s original conception of rhetoric and the troubled but essential connection between techne and praxis. Proposing a solution, the author initially puts forward a project of establishing a new normative conception of rhetorical ethos meeting the demands of contemporary praxis (especially in the field of education) on the basis of a concept of uprightness.

Purpose: The article reviews the literature on the concept of Global 8 Disciplines method in the context of root cause analysis of the quality issue. Design/methodology/approach: In this paper the objective was set to prevent quality issues regarding the surface of wire rod coils. In order to achieve this, the G8D problem solving method was applied to analyze and solve the problem. Findings: G8D does improve the efficiency of quality issue problem-solving. Artykuł jest poświęcony prawniczej dyscyplinie in statu nascendi, jaką jest prawo turystyczne. Nie jest to próba kompleksowego omówienia problematyki metodologicznej i pozametodologicznej prawa turystycznego, lecz jedynie zwrócenie uwagi na niektóre z ujawnianych w dyskusji nad statusem prawa turystycznego problemów. Rozważania będą ograniczone do omówienia niektórych metodologicznych przesłanek uzasadniających celowość wyodrębnienia tej dyscypliny prawniczej oraz niektórych innych czynników podnoszonych w dyskursie o autonomizacji prawa turystycznego. W szczególności będzie podjęta próba odpowiedzi na pytania: jakie jest miejsce prawa turystycznego w systemie prawa, jak zmieniają się kierunki i charakter badań w tym obszarze i jak kształtują się relacje pomiędzy prawem a innymi dyscyplinami naukowymi. Próba zdefiniowania cech specyficznych dla prawa turystycznego byłaby niepełna bez uzyskania odpowiedzi na pytanie o jego funkcje społeczne. Autorka starała się wykazać, że wyodrębnienie się takiej gałęzi prawa, jaką jest prawo turystyczne, nie może się odbyć bez uwzględnienia konsensusu kulturowo-normatywnego. Analizując relację pomiędzy prawem turystycznym a innymi dyscyplinami, nie należy zapominać o wpływie zjawisk i procesów występujących globalnie. W przypadku prawa turystycznego wpływ ten jest szczególnie widoczny i coraz lepiej rozpoznawalny. Zamiarem autorki nie jest dokonanie całości rekonstrukcji tych płaszczyzn, lecz wskazanie, że do wyjaśnienia złożoności problematyki prawa turystycznego celowe jest analizowanie jego powiązań z pozostałymi zjawiskami rzeczywistości społecznej. Niniejsza praca ma na celu próbę uporządkowania materii z zakresu prawa turystycznego i rozważań na temat statusu tej dyscypliny naukowej. W tym celu posłużono się metodą teoretyczno- prawną.
The chapter is devoted to the legal discipline in state nascendi, which is the tourist law. This is not an attempt to comprehensively discuss the methodological and non-parametric issues of tourism law, but only to draw attention to some of the problems revealed in the discussion on the status of tourism law. The considerations of this chapter will be limited to discussing some methodological reasons justifying the desirability of distinguishing this legal discipline, and some other factors raised in the discourse on the autonomy of tourism law. In particular, there will be an attempt to answer the questions about the place of tourism law in the legal system, how the directions and nature of research in this area change and how relations between law and other scientific disciplines are shaped. An attempt to define features specific to tourism law would be incomplete without getting answers to its social functions. I will try to show that the separation of such a branch of law, which is tourism law, cannot take place without taking into account the cultural and normative consensus. When analyzing the relationship between tourism law and other disciplines, one should not forget about the impact of global phenomena and processes. In the case of tourism law, this influence is particularly visible and more and more recognizable. It is not my intention to carry out a whole reconstruction of these planes. My intention is to point out that to explain the complexity of the problem of tourism law, it is advisable to analyze its connections with other phenomena of social reality. This work aims to try to sort the matter in the field of tourism law and order the consideration of the status of this scientific discipline on this subject. The work was based on the dogmatic and legal method.

Opis:
On the basis of the analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature and empirical studies of the educational process in higher educational economic institution, the necessity of systematic teachers’ training for the organization of independent work of students, while studying mathematical disciplines, has been defined in this article. Taking into account modern requirements of scientific and pedagogical activities, the definition of "didactic competence of the teacher of mathematical disciplines" has been proposed as an important condition of organization of independent student’s work. The components of the didactic competence as a system unit have been characterized, namely motivational-value, cognitive, methodically-organizational and reflective components. To ensure a sufficient level of didactic competence of teachers of mathematical disciplines, it has been proposed to conduct trainings, consultations and interviews in accordance with the principles of coaching technology.

The paper describes the genesis and the teaching process of the Data Steward School, Edition 2020, the first Polish school for data stewards. The initiative was implemented by Visnea sp. z o.o. (“Visnea”) in cooperation with GO-FAIR in the period from September 2020 to April 2021. The participants of the Training Programme, future data stewards, gained knowledge of the role of correct data management in achieving institutional objectives. The need to protect the legal and financial interests arising from the possession and archiving of data and data management plan design guidelines, along with the methodology for data collection, metadata, the existence of data repositories, data security and the means of data sharing and storage were also presented. The paper presents the evaluation of the Training Programme and discusses proposals related to the role and importance of the new profession, i.e. the data steward in a scientific institution.

Artykuł przedstawia dyskusję na temat klasyfikacji nauk ekonomicznych. Podstawą tej dyskusji są przemiany w subdyscyplinach nauk ekonomicznych w ostatnich kilkudziesięciu latach, zwłaszcza po ostatnim kryzysie finansowym. Druga część artykułu przedstawia najważniejsze wyznaczniki przemian, które będą wpływać na rozwój nauk ekonomicznych. Są nimi: zmiany technologiczne, przede wszystkim w obszarze fintechów, oraz zmiany instytucjonalno-społeczne, takie jak: powstanie gospodarki dostępu, uberyzacja gospodarki, rozwój sieci społecznych i sieci biznesowych, wzrost znaczenia megakorporacji oraz wzrost udziału niezależnych kontraktorów na rynku pracy. Te zmiany spowodują również konieczność fundamentalnych zmian w procesie dydaktyki nauk ekonomicznych. Zmiany te pójdą w kierunku doskonalenia następujących cech absolwentów: umiejętności analityczne, umiejętności komunikacyjne, kreatywność, mobilność, elastyczność zdobywania wiedzy i umiejętności, umiejętność ciągłego kształcenia.
The paper presents a discussion on the classification of disciplines within economic sciences. The base for this discussion are the changes in the subs-disciplines of economic sciences in last several dozen of years, particularly after the last financial crisis. The second part of the paper presents the most important determinants of changes that will impact the development of economic sciences. These are: technological changes, like the growth of fintech industry, and social and institutional changes, namely: sharing economy, gig economy, the growth of social and business networks, the growth of the importance of megacorporations and the growth of the role of freelancers on the labor market. All these changes will lead to the fundamental changes in teaching of economics. These changes will enhance the following capabilities of graduates: analytical skills, communication skills, creativity, mobility, flexibility in acquiring knowledge and skills, ability to lifelong learning.

Prezentowana rozmowa jest konstrukcyjnym pomysłem na przywołanie poglądów prof. M. Dudzikowej na interdyscyplinarność w nauce, bazującym na oryginalnych tekstach Autorki. Artykuł ma dwoje autorów, którzy zetknęli się osobiście z prof. Marią Dudzikową w tym samym momencie swego naukowego życia. Adam Kola został zaproszony na seminarium realizowane w ramach grantu Ministerstwa Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego pod kierownictwem prof. Adama Chmielewskiego Interdyscyplinarnie o interdyscyplinarności. Między ideą a praktyką. Anna Kola zaś uczestniczyła w pracach Samokształceniowego Zespołu Doktorów przy Komitecie Nauk Pedagogicznych PAN, kierowanym przez prof. Marię Dudzikową. Sytuacja wywiadu-rozmowy kierowanej jest hipotetyczna i możliwa, choć w obecnym kształcie stanowi jedynie wymysł autorów.
The presented conversation is a constructive of the views of Professor M. Dudzikowa on interdisciplinarity in science, based on the original texts of the author. The article has two authors who personally met with Professor Maria Dudzikowa at the same time of their professional academic life. Adam Kola was invited to the seminar about interdisciplinarity in science provided by grant of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education headed by Professor Adam Chmielewski. Anna Kola participated in the work of the Self-Education Team of Doctors at the Pedagogical Sciences Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, headed by prof. M. Dudzikowa. The situation of the interview-directed conversation is hypothetical and possible, although in the present form it is only a figment of the authors.

The aim of the article is to present a base of Polish Publishers Open Access Policies as a tool supporting the scientific community in the implementation of openness policies. It is the first national platform to gather and analyze a publishing policy in the field of Open Access to Polish scientific journals. For scientists, it is a tool for searching for a Polish journal meeting certain criteria. It enables grant recipients to verify whether the journal meets the principles of Plan S. The database also provides information on the principles of using intellectual property.The functionalities of the database were analyzed based on NCN’s policy comparing them with the principles of publishing research results in Open Access. The specific criteria used in the Polish Publishers Open Access Policies database were compared with other databases: Arianta, SHERPA/RoMEO. The analysis shows that the Polish Publishers Open Access Policy is the only national database for Polish scientific journals, bringing together in one place information necessary for the scientific community on publication in Open Access. The database facilitates project preparation and implementation. Academic librarians, promoting the idea of Open Science, support the scientific community at each stage of the activity described, providing tools, knowledge base and competences.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the content of professional and practical training of future specialists on the example of teacher training in specialty 014 “Secondary education. English language and foreign literature” of Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University. A review of the scientific literature was carried out, which shows that many scientists were engaged in the study of the problem of training a philology teacher in Ukraine. The interpretation of the concepts “training”, “teacher training”, “professional training of a philology teacher”, “professional training of a foreign language teacher” by various scientists was analyzed. The concept of “teacher of philological specialties” is analyzed. The definition of the concept of “professional training of a philology teacher” is given. The concept of training a philology teacher in dual majors, training future teachers of humanities majors is analyzed. The article states that the training of future English language teachers consists of three cycles: general education, professional training and three types of pedagogical practice. In turn, the first two cycles are divided into two parts: educational disciplines of the normative and variable part. The article analyzes in detail the curriculum of specialty 014 “Secondary education. English language and foreign literature” for 2023/2024 academic year. In particular, the disciplines of general and professional training are indicated, the percentage of study time allocated to the study of educational disciplines of the normative and variable part of the cycle of professional training is calculated. A large list of elective subjects that students have the right to choose for their major is presented. A conclusion was made about the balanced professional and practical language training of philology teachers in Ukraine due to the successful distribution of study time for the study of the main philological and methodical disciplines. Optional educational disciplines in the variable part significantly enrich the curriculum and, accordingly, contribute to positive dynamics in the knowledge of students of higher education in specialty 014 “Secondary education. English language and foreign literature”. The analysis of the curriculum for the training of teachers of English language and foreign literature confirmed thorough training in general and special philological disciplines.
