Opis:
Fathers, step-father, caregivers in the ‘upon the Niemen’ novels by Eliza Orzeszkowa are fi gures clearly outlined. Their creations are made also by the means of color, light and shadow. Writer, creating the characters of fathers, stepfather and caregivers operates with the color subtly and sparingly, especially in the description of their clothes and bodies. Names, defi nitions of glow, light and shadow are the components serving the verbalization and dynamization of feelings, experiences and behaviors, as well as descriptions of the personality in the characteristics of characters. Creation of men are also served by the background and the environment color, which is a typical aspect of the novel design by Orzeszkowa.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to isolate and characterize linguistic expressions with components of color names contained in the novel Bambino by Inga Iwasiów. In the article is used a linguistic and stylistic method of analysis literary texts. It should fi rst be noted that in the novel there is no a lot of color names. The most common color name is red (27x), then – white (25x), grey (17x), black (12x) and green (10x). Other names of the colors have been used less than ten times. In the novel Bambino names of colors were used – mostly – in the contexts established in the Polish culture. The key word is the gray color which takes particular importance in the analyzed novel. Other colors – even appearing occasionally – are important for the creation of the world presented in the novel.

W artykule zostaje podjęta problematyka z zakresu relacji filozofii i teologii. Główną myślą, będącą w zasadzie osnową całego wywodu, jest przekonanie, że wiedza filozoficzna pozwala nam głęboko docenić sens niemal każdego ważnego sformułowania doktrynalnego, czy też każdego ważnego teologa. Wskazując zatem na „fundamenty” filozoficzne, czyli podstawy ontologiczno-epistemologiczne teologicznego myślenia oraz myślenia w ogóle, praca próbuje ukazywać znaczenie i konieczność filozofii dla lepszego, głębszego rozumienia teologii. Aby umożliwić dostrzeżenie tego, zostaje przywołana jedna z podstawowych tez biblijno-teologicznych („świat został stworzony…”) i w jej świetle, na drodze analizy, przedstawia się przynajmniej niektóre aspekty filozoficznego myślenia w kontekście teologii.
The article addresses the issue of the relationship between philosophy and theology. The main point, being also the underlying idea of the whole argument, is a belief that philosophical knowledge enables us to appreciate the meaningfulness of almost every important doctrinal statement or every significant theologian. The following article attempts to prove the necessity and significance of philosophy for the better and deeper understanding of theology by pointing out philosophical ‘foundations’, e.i. ontological and epistemological bases of theological thinking and thinking in general. To demonstrate this importance, the article refers to one of the basic biblical and theological theses, namely “the world was created”, and, in view of it, presents through analysis some aspects of philosophical thinking in the context of theology.

In her novel, Meir Ezofowicz, the author provides an insight into the social and culturalreality of a Jewish borderland town in the second half of the 19th century. The fourJewish families featured in the novel come from diverse cultural, socio-economic, andreligious backgrounds. The linguistic images created by Orzeszkowa reflect the stereotypicalperception of reality, and, at the same time, condemn all anti-social behaviour,including that observed within the Jewish diaspora community.

Opis:
Realizowany na Uniwersytecie Wrocławskim interdyscyplinarny projekt „Ołtarze ambonowe na Śląsku. Historia. Stan zachowania. Potrzeby konserwatorskie” ( 2014–2018) dotyczy szeroko dyskutowanego problemu autentyzmu dzieł sztuki w kontekście ich zmiennej funkcji. Dziedzictwo kulturowe omawianych ziem, przejętych po II wojnie przez państwo polskie stanowi trudny problem konserwatorski, ponieważ wraz ze zmianami politycznymi nastąpiła zmiana użytkowników świątyń ze wspólnot ewangelickich na katolickie, a co za tym idzie, konieczność przystosowania wystroju do potrzeb odmiennej liturgii. Zasięg tych zmian zostanie prześledzony na przykładzie ołtarza z kościoła pokarmelitańskiego (pw. Zbawiciela Świata i Matki Boskiej Szkaplerznej) w Strzegomiu, gdzie dokonano neokreacji, znacznie wykraczając poza ramy tradycyjnie pojmowanej konserwacji dzieł sztuki.
The interdisciplinary project entitled “Pulpit-altars in Silesia. History. A state of preservation. Restoration needs” (2014–2018) was implemented by the University of Wrocław. It concerns the widely-discussed problem of authenticity of art works in the context of their variable functions. The cultural heritage of Silesia, the region acquired by Polish State after World War II, appears as a diffi cult renovation problem, because of the major political and religious changes. With Catholic parishes replacing the Protestant ones, the interiors of temples had to be modified and adjusted to fi t the needs and priorities of a different liturgy. The scope of these changes is explored on the example of the altar from the Post-Carmelite church (Holly Saviour of The World and Our Lady of Mount Carmel) in Strzegom where the neo-creation went far beyond the traditional understanding of art restoration.

Stwórcą świata jest Trójjedyny Bóg – transcendentny i immanentny jednocześnie wobec świata. W kontekście dialogu między teologią i naukami przyrodniczymi pojawiają się nowe wyzwania i perspektywy. Nauka ukazuje wszechświat ewoluujący na wszystkich poziomach, a najważniejszą racją konstytutywną dla teologii jest relacja nieustannego stwarzania. Odbicie Komunii Boga w stworzeniu i jego komunijna sakramentalność jest fundamentem trynitarno-komunijnej teologii stworzenia. Teologia wyróżnia trzy modele interpretujące działanie Boga w świecie: przez bezpośrednie interwencje, przez ustanowiony w nim ład i przez aktywną obecność. Ostatni model ukazuje, że stworzenie dokonało się nie tyle przez wszechmoc i mądrość, co przez miłość Boga. Istotnym elementem rozumienia trynitarnego dzieła stworzenia jest jego aspekt chrystologiczny, a perspektywa przebóstwienia wszechświata otwiera ostateczne wymiary tej wizji.
Creator of the world is the Triune God – the transcendent and immanent at the same time. Science reveals the universe evolving at all levels and the most important costitutive reason for theology is the relation of constant creation. Reflection of God's Communion in creation and communional sacramentality of created world are the foundation of Trynitarian-communional theology of creation. Theology distinguishes three models of interpreting the action of God in the world: through direct intervention, through the established order and through the active presence. The last model shows that the creation was accomplished not so much through the God's omnipotence and wisdom, but by the God's love. An important element of the Trinitarian understanding of creation is its Christological aspect and the theiosis of the universe opens the prospect of the final dimensions of this vision.

As a starting point for the reconstruction of pictures of places of creation of the world’s concepts, the monograph edited by T. Sadoń-Osowiecka “Place, space, landscape – educational signs” was chosen. Analyses of the works published in it was carried out on the basis of: location of the observer in an educational space, distance in the study conducted, applied techniques of recording the picture, and the preferred temporal distance in the recording of a picture. The said analysis indicated the role played in the understanding of the world by an individual through: (a) one’s association with “places” which give the status of tamed space; (b) valid and methodologically proper recognition of reality ‘from near’ and ‘from afar’, and treatment of these perspectives as mutually complementary; (c) the will not to eliminate from the pictures of the world “its” gloomy elements: the problems of school: hard situations of socially and culturally excluded people; marginalised places; (d) readiness to bear responsibility for the quality of being “among” people and “for” them, for the present and future of the life of their world.

In his novel Matka [Mother], Ignacy Maciejowski creates an image of a traditional Polish family – Magda and Szymon Porębski and their three children: a daughter, Marysia, and two sons, Władek and Antek. The children have a healthy relationship with each other, which is reflected, above all, by mutual caring, support, and compassion. The family relation-ships depicted by the author are not only positive, traditional, appropriate and correct, but also stereotypical. The family ties are nurtured and strengthened at home, which brings together all generations, promotes tradition, soothes a savage breast, and is the centre of a small 19th-century peasant community like the Porębskis. The image of family relationships depicted in the novel Matka [Mother] by Ignacy Maciejowski represents one Polish proverb: Bez rodziny, ni domu niepotrzebnyś nikomu [Without your family or home, you are nobody].

Według Jana Pawła II prawda o stworzeniu, jako przedmiot i treść wiary chrześcijańskiej jest najwyraźniej ukazana jedynie w Objawieniu, czyli na kartach Pisma Świętego. Papież przypomina, że nie znajdujemy tej prawdy ani w żadnej pozabiblijnej kosmologii mitologicznej, ani też w spekulacjach największych teologów starożytności. Dlatego też jego katechezy są przeniknięte odniesieniami do Biblii, a także pogłębioną refleksją biblijną na temat stworzenia świata i człowieka. Szczególnie żywą interpretację tekstów biblijnych odnoszących się do tematu stworzenia odnajduje papież w pismach wczesnochrześcijańskich autorów. Szacunek papieża dla ich autorytetu, wyrażony w liście Patres Ecclesiae, odzwierciedlony zostaje w częstym przytaczaniu dzieł największych autorytetów Kościoła pierwszych wieków, takich jak Ireneusz z Lyonu, Augustyn z Hippony, czy Grzegorz z Nyssy. Potwierdza to w sposób szczególny biblijność ich nauczania i szczególne umiłowanie Pisma Świętego.
According to John Paul II, the truth about Creation, as the object and content of the Christian faith, is presented in the most explicit manner only in the Revelation, that is in the Holy Bible. The Pope is reminding that we do not find this truth either in any mythological cosmology outside the Bible or in speculations of the greatest ancient theologians. That is the reason why his catecheses are full of biblical references and a deep biblical reflection on thecreation of the world and a man. A particularly vivid interpretation of biblical texts referring to the subject of Creation the Pope finds in the writings of early Christian writers. The Pope’s respect for their authority, expressed in the Patres Ecclesiae Letter, is reflected by frequent quoting of works by the greatest Church authorities of the first centuries, such as St. Irenaeus of Lyons, St. Augustineof Hippo, or Gregory of Nyssa. This confirms in a special way the biblical character of their teachings and a special affection for the Holy Bible.

Celem artykułu była próba zbadania językowej kreacji osób chorych psychicznie w powieści Wędrówki Oryginała Józefa Korzeniowskiego. Materiał podzielono na części, w których omówiono lingwistyczną kreację dziedziczenia zachorowania, sytuacji chorych, szpitala psychiatrycznego, opieki szpitalnej, cierpienia rodzin chorych, przypadku powracającej do zdrowia Marty oraz nadwrażliwego Karola. Wskazano na środki leksykalne, frazeologiczne, stylistyczne kreujące postaci chorych i powieściową rzeczywistość z nimi związaną. Badanie pozwoliło zauważyć, że Korzeniowski realistycznie przedstawia sytuację obłąkanych i ich bliskich, traktując zachorowanie jako ogromne, może nawet największe nieszczęście dotykające człowieka oraz jego otoczenie, a samą chorobę jako stan między życiem a śmiercią, jako oczekiwanie na zgon, który skróci cierpienie.
The goal of the article was an attempt to investigate linguistic creation of mentally ill people in J. Korzeniowski’s novel entitled „The journeys of the original”. The material was divided into chapters, which exemplified linguistic means of presenting the issues connected with hereditary factors predisposing people to mental disorders, situation of the patients treated at psychiatric facilities, hospital care, suffering of the families whose members fell victim of mental sicknesses and finally a detailed analysis of two cases: recovering Marta and over-sensitive Karol. Lexical, phraseological and stylistic means creating the images of the patients and the illness-related reality included in the novel were analyzed. The research led to the conclusion that Korzeniowski realistically presents the situation of the „insane” and their relatives who perceive the illness as a big or even the biggest misfortune affecting man and his/her surrounding and view the illness itself as a condition of being suspended between life and death – longing for demise which is expected to shorten the suffering.

The eschatological views of the Victorinus of Poetovio and the Pseudo-Victorinus of Poetovio are set forth in their writings – the treatise On the Creation of the World, Commentary on the Apocalypse and the treatise On the Ten Virgins. Common to the two Latin exegetes is that they eagerly awaited the Last Judgment and the Second Coming of Christ, and also urged Christians daily to perform church obediences and to do as many good deeds as possible. At the same time, each of them taught in his own way how and when it should happen.Victorinus of Poetovio, as one of the Latin millenarists, in the treatise On the Creation of the World and Commentary on the Apocalypse taught that in the near future the Lord Jesus Christ must come to earth for the second time to reign with his chosen ones for a thousand years. A>er this, the Last Judgment will take place, on which a sentence will be handed down for unrepentant sinners and daily penitents who are righteous. The first awaits the eternal torment with the devil and his angels, and the second awaits eternal bliss with Christ and his angels.Pseudo-Victorinus of Poetovio, as one of the Latin non-millionaire writers, taught in the treatise On the Ten Virgins that in the indefinite future the Lord Jesus Christ must come to earth for the second time to judge unrepentant sinners and pardon every day the penitent righteous. A>er this, there will also come the eternal bliss of the righteous and the eternal torment of sinners.

Dialog Platona Timajos, uznawany przez uczonych za „Biblię Platoników”, był interpretowany alegorycznie już w Starej Akademii (IV w. przed Chr.). W epoce hellenistycznej (I–III w. po Chr.) natomiast, w kręgach filozofów zwanych medioplatonikami, toczyła się poważna dyskusja na temat tez, które w nim się pojawiają. Zasadnicza kwestia dotyczyła tego, czy świat powstał w czasie, czy też istnieje ab aeterno. Większość filozofów medioplatońskich uważała, że świat musi być odwieczny. W dyskusji tej, począwszy od I w. po Chr., uczestniczyli również platonicy żydowscy i chrześcijańscy, tacy jak Filon Aleksandryjski, Klemens Aleksandryjski i Orygenes. W ich opinii Bóg, ponieważ jest niezmienny a zarazem dobry, nie zaczął działać dopiero w momencie stworzenia świata. Pismo Święte stwierdza jednak, że świat zaczął istnieć w czasie. W związku z tym, postulowani oni odwieczne rodzenie świata idei (kosmos noetos), który jako świat myśli Boga, istnieje ab aeterno w Boskim Logosie. Koncepcja generatio aeterna (czyli odwiecznego rodzenia Syna przez Ojca), którą znajdujemy w dziełach Orygenesa, jest związana z prowadzoną w tym czasie dyskusją na temat wieczności świata. Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie tej dyskusji i uwypuklenie zależności, jakie zachodzą między argumentami stawianymi przez medioplatoników, a tymi, które znajdujemy w różnych hipotezach Orygenesa.
Timaeus, a dialogue of Plato regarded by scholars as “the Platonists’ Bible”, was interpreted allegorically even in the time of the Old Academy (4th century BCE). In the Hellenistic period (1st-3rd centuries CE), especially among the philosophers known as Middle Platonists, there was great debate over the theses that appear in it. The main question was whether the world was created in time or ab aeterno, and most of the Middle Platonic philosophers believed that the world must be eternal. By the first century CE, this discussion had also been joined by Jewish and Christian Platonists such as Philo of Alexandria, Clement of Alexandria and Origen. In their opinion, God, because he is unchanging but at the same time good, must not have started to operate only at the moment of the creation of the world, but before. Yet the Scriptures state that the world began to exist at a particular point in time. Therefore, Christian Platonists postulated the eternal generation or production of the world of ideas (kosmos noetos), which, since it is the world of God’s thoughts, exists ab aeterno in the Divine Logos. The concept of generatio aeterna (that is, the eternal generation of the Son by the Father), which we find in Origen’s works, is related to this ongoing discussion about the eternal nature of the world. This article aims to present the facets of this ancient debate while emphasizing the links between the arguments advanced by the Middle Platonists and those found in the various hypotheses of Origen.

Ignacy Maciejowski’s novel Matka features the character of Szymon Porębski – Magda’s father and Antek and Władek’s father. The creation of the character relies mainly on the distinct personal characteristics of Sewer’s protagonist. Szymon Porębski’s major traits include stubbornness, relentlessness, firmness, industriousness, thrift, consistency and respect towards his what matters the most – his fatherland, family, home, farm and work. The creation of the character is reinforced by the structure of his utterances.

Opis:
A new paradigm in theology, termed evolutionary theology, supports the understanding of ecology as the proper ordering of the relations between living organisms and their environment. It is argued that evolutionary theology yields a unique conceptual framework in which the human species share a common history with the entire Universe and respecting nature’s integrity means securing a common destiny to everything that exists. This is a powerful motivation for adopting a balanced ecological attitude aimed at respecting nature’s inherent integrity. Furthermore, proposing theological arguments to substantiate ecological claims will help neutralize the objections that religion as such promotes anti-ecological attitudes. Such objections become more pressing when religion focuses exclusively on the afterlife in the immaterial and eternal world to come, and neglects the well-being of the material and temporal Universe.
