Opis:
This research paper addresses one of the core challenges small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are facing, but which is typically overlooked in scientific research. The trend towards stronger globalization requires SMEs to also operate in a more international environment, which influences both their internal and their external collaborations. This paper presents examples of both internal and external collaboration approaches and argues how digital technologies can support them. A theoretical framework which can be a baseline for future research on the topic is deducted.

Opis:
Background: Despite the large number of studies on various aspects and forms of supply chain collaboration, the issue is still classified as a relatively poorly recognized research problem in the logistics field. This article is crucial in the discussion on the further directions for the development of cross-organizational collaboration. The main objective of these studies was to assess the readiness of companies to start and develop vertical and horizontal collaboration within logistics. Methods: The research problem was analysed on the basis of primary and secondary data sources. Primary research was conducted among manufacturing and trade companies as well as logistics service providers. In the statistical description the Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon test were used. It was assumed that the result was statistically significant for p<0.05. Results: The results show a high readiness of the companies surveyed for further vertical integration and two variables had a statistically significant effect on the assessment of the respondents, i.e. the current level of integration and the role the respondents played in the supply chain. As far as horizontal cooperation is concerned, the readiness of the companies surveyed for further integration was slightly above the average level. Compared to vertical collaboration, the difference between the average rating was statistically highly significant. Conclusions: The study indicates the need for the companies surveyed to be involved in logistics collaboration. However, it should be emphasized that the respondents prefer collaboration with companies which do not operate at the same level in the supply chain. As far as horizontal collaboration is concerned, the results can be explained by a number of concerns expressed by the respondents regarding the behavior of potential collaborators. Apparently, in this case, an individual approach with a competitive attitude dominates among the respondents.
Wstęp: Pomimo dużej liczby badań poświęconych różnym aspektom i formom współpracy zachodzącej w łańcuchu dostaw, zagadnienie to nadal zaliczane jest do stosunkowo słabo rozpoznanych problemów badawczych.

Within thirty years, the relation between the Internet and the scientific activity has changed profoundly. The Internet has shifted from being an instrument of academic collaboration to being a tool used by social media, allowing for a maximum diffusion of irrationalism and alt-factualism. To understand this change, one needs re-examine the mechanisms of opinion convergence. This convergence stems primarily from the existence of the world we share, which exposes us to the same facts and determines the constant revision of each person’s beliefs. In this process of asymptotic opinion convergence, no communication between individuals is required. Of course, if the facts known by some are communicated to others, this convergence accelerates considerably, so much so that we must regard knowledge as a result of collective activity, and the exchange of information as one of its crucial sources. On the one hand, this epistemic cooperation seems natural and easy to implement. Given the properties of information, which is an asset we keep even if we share it, the sharing of information is not subject to the usual difficulties related to cooperation. Defection provides no profit, making the prisoner’s dilemma not applicable to epistemic cooperation. On the other hand, such cooperation is productive by nature: the collaboration of the one who knowns φ and the one who knows that φ implies ψ results in both agents having the knowledge of ψ, which neither of them had before the exchange. The earlier Internet allowed for an extreme intensity of this informational cooperation. At present, we are dealing with a different kind of situation. Several factors, including the growing porosity between scientists and the public, have strengthened the role of exchange. It is not an exchange of information, but an exchange of opinions. The biases inherent to human nature, and especially the confirmation bias, tends to reverse the relationship between facts and opinions. We search for the facts confirming the opinions we hold, doubt those which undermine them and create facts to corroborate what we believe. Hence, we go from cooperation to affiliation, dividing the Internet into homogenic groups of believers.

This paper argues that for both creators of a choreomusical work, a collaborative creative process must be worthwhile, enjoyable, or contribute something unique to motivate artists to collaborate at a time where, to some degree, technology negates the necessity to do so. Therefore, the scholar interested in choreomusical relationships should also be interested in collaborative, creative methods. The research considers cross-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary working processes in music and dance in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries to enquire into the ways that choreomusical relationships have developed for composers and choreographers working collaboratively. It asks whether there are factors which should be considered in a collaborative working method between composer and choreographer to achieve a co-creative endeavor which is satisfactory for both parties. Satisfactory, co-creative results are defined by the satisfaction of both collaborators throughout the creative process, regardless of the end result. These questions were addressed both through historical analysis of collaborations within contemporary dance, and exploration of how choreomusical collaboration can be successful or unsuccessful in terms of co-creation and the satisfaction of each party within current artistic practice. Informed practical research and the use of journals coincide with a grounded theory approach: through analysis of both sets of data, factors which help and hinder choreomusical collaboration in terms of co-creative approaches were identified. The results of this analysis are presented in a spectrum model of possible working relationships between composer and choreographer; this paper applies this to case studies identified within the research in terms of cognitive innovation.

Universities are one of the key actors within national and regional innovation systems. The nature of university-industry collaboration has changed during the last decades and it varies across countries and regions. Different factors determine the interaction among both organizations, from those related to the industrial structure of the territory to others related to institutional and legal frameworks. In this paper we aim at adding to the understanding of this process based on the comparison between two European regions, Apulia in Italy and Galicia in Spain. Our results show that a progressive transition from a separated to a more integrated approach has occurred at the relational framework affecting universities and industry in both regions. Public policies, particularly from the regional level, have been relevant for promoting university-industry collaboration in Galicia and Apulia. Nevertheless, there still remain cultural and institutional barriers, both from the academy and business sphere, which impede a closer and more fruitful interaction. Besides, the poor innovative culture of traditional industries which dominate in both regions, might affect university-industry interaction. However, an adjustment of the university offer in terms of research is also needed as we observe that collaboration is too much biased by the university scientific and departmental specialization and too little by local and regional industrial specialization.

Opis:
Background: Despite their relatively low economic potential and modest scale of activity of each single unit, en masse small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) create a major part of real GDP in all developed countries. Moreover, having very rarely own R&D backup facilities, SMEs are mostly strikingly open for new technical and technological solutions, perceiving innovations as a challenge and as an opportunity as well. Searching for such solutions, also in processes of implementation, they have to collaborate with a number of partners from various sectors, having diverse legal status, business culture and approach to cooperation. Frequently collaboration appears to be a source of problems, even threats. Methods: The paper consists of a literature review, identification of collaboration risk areas and - as a separate part - presentation and discussion of selected results of own research conducted late 2016 by the authors within a group of over 300 small and medium technological enterprises (SMTEs), chosen according to the defined filters. The aim of research was to analyse the collaboration environment of SMTEs, their approach to collaboration and perception of collaboration problems and risks. Results: Analysis of uncertainty areas within SMTEs' environment and modes of operation allowed to identify a selection of risks which may result from collaboration, divided into two divisions: those having general character, which may be observed in each SME, and those being SMTE specific, adjoint to acquiring of new technologies, cooperation with scientific R&D institutions, technology transfer etc. The survey - considering the strong specific features of SMTEs - delivered some interesting informations on characteristics of sources of new technologies, collaboration directions and relations with partners, also collaboration risk factors and exposure. Conclusions: The paper shows a variety of problems referring to SMTEs' collaboration with partners in technology acquisition and implementation. Having difficulties in contacts with big enterprises and institutions, they prefer own solutions and cooperation with other SMEs. This obviously imposes some limitations on the choice of partners and availability of solutions, making relations more complex and difficult. From the survey results also that SMTEs do not regard vulnerability and exposure on collaboration risk as a major problem in their activities, however some risk factors - from legal ones to soft competencies of partners. Further research could refer to the low effectiveness of collaboration between SMTEs and institutions which are regarded as a natural source of innovative solutions and those which exist to support that sector.
Wstęp: Pomimo relatywnie niskiego potencjału ekonomicznego i umiarkowanej skali działalności każdej pojedynczej firmy, w swojej masie małe i średnie przedsiębiorstwa (MSP) we wszystkich rozwiniętych krajach wytwarzają znaczącą część realnego Produktu Krajowego Brutto (PKB).

Rapid technological development in recent years has contributed to numerous changes in many areas of life, including education and communication. Establishing interdisciplinary collaboration brings many benefits, it is, however, often associated with numerous problems and inconveniences, as well as the need for constant improvement, lifelong learning, professional development (CPD) and finding an effective way of information transfer. Living in a constant rush makes the logical order of information transfer become a key aspect, as more and more operations are being done chaotically, using multiple online tools. Although collaboration happens to be complicated even for colleagues specializing in different aspects of the same profession, establishing cooperation between specific groups of interdisciplinary specialists, such as engineers and physicians, has a significant impact on modern diagnostics and medical treatment development. Based on some selected case studies investigated at Gdańsk University of Technology andMedical University of Gdańsk, supported by an overview of available education and collaboration tools, a solution based on the Moodle LMS platform has been proposed, implemented, and analyzed.

Transport conditions were extremely hard, a lot of people died during this trip, because of the lack of food and water and of high temperatures. The deportation had very tragic consequences: within six months, in new places of settlement nearly 40% of Crimean Tatars died.

Research background: Cooperation within the public and the private sectors is one of the conditions for a tourist region to achieve a competitive advantage, and it is one of the most important aspect for building a regional tourist brand. Research studies often raise the issue of tourism cooperation; however, there are few papers undertaking this topic in the context of place branding. The issue of benefits and barriers of this type of cooperation seen from the perspective of the involved stakeholders is rarely the sole object of research and is often presented indirectly or implicitly. Purpose of the article: The aim of the paper is to identify the benefits and barriers of cooperation seen by the local government and other representatives of regional tourism organization in the process of developing a regional brand. Methods: To achieve the aim of the paper, the authors conducted a case study of a region, specifically Podlaskie Voivodship in Poland. This case study involved individual in-depth interviews conducted among representatives of organizations - members of the Regional Tourism Organization. Findings & Value added: The findings of this study contribute to a better understanding of cooperation between tourism entities in the process of regional place branding. The authors established a conceptual framework for systematization of benefits and barriers of cooperation as seen by regional stakeholders. The benefits were grouped into the following categories: economic, organizational, marketing and social; and the barriers included economic, organizational, socio-cultural and political determinants.

Overall, these issues are compounded by a lack of collaboration between healthcare stakeholders in setting priorities and moving the sector towards a patient-focused model of healthcare and preventative medicine. Many of these issues may be suited to the adoption of new technologies such as Blockchain and multiple case studies will be outlined within the scope of this paper. The present study aims to address the current issues and challenges pertaining to the healthcare sector in Tunisia and to contextualize the role of new technologies in providing better patient care, improved financial management and improved patient safety.

Theoretical Framework
Opis:
Cooperation in logistics is widely recognised as one of the core challenges for the next future. In this context, horizontal collaboration is believed to be one of the innovative solutions to effectively tackle the growing logistic challenges from both, environmental and economic points of view. This innovative topic is quickly gaining momentum but the literature in the field is still in its infancy. As a consequence, a methodological tool to support project and implementation of successful horizontal partnership is still not available. In this paper, we propose a comprehensive framework based on an extensive literature review of both, scholars and practitioners. The proposed tool is based on an incremental perspective, according to which mutual trust among partners is developed through continuous collaboration. More specifically, three steps are proposed: operational, tactical and strategic. For each of them a coherent couple of aims and shared assets is defined.

This study presents an experiment aimed at the design of short learning courses in the context of LAMS, using a number of specific context-free collaboration design patterns implemented within LAMS. In fact, 25 Prospective Computer Engineers (PCEs) participated in this experiment. The analysis of the data shows that PCEs fully used these context free collaboration patterns - mostly realized in combination - and designed interesting sequences of learning activities. PCEs also used most of the tools provided within LAMS. However, PCEs were presented with difficulties in integrating collaboration strategies with thinking dimensions in terms of communication, decision making, concept formation, problem solving and inquiry based learning.

Internetworked e-Work is enabling new channels in cyber space for collaboration among physical and cyber agents, e.g., humans, robots, software agents. Research on Collaborative Control Theory (CCT) indicates that building and augmenting the Collaborative Intelligence (CI) of participants in cyber-physical networks can provide better support for achieving their individual and common goals. In spite of its rising significance and popularity, however, no clear and precise definition and universal quantitative measure has been proposed for the CI. In this article, we first formalize the CI by suggesting a formal definition, based on the definitions of its elements - collaboration and intelligence. We then propose a quantitative measure for the CI, adapted from the universal intelligence measure. For illustration, we analyze three recent collaborative e-Work studies at three different scales: (1) Telerobotenabled computer supported collaborative design; (2) Collaborative product line control in supply networks; (3) Demand and capacity sharing in multi-enterprise collaboration. From these case studies, common advantages such as work efficiency, network robustness and stability, service level, resource utilization, and collaboration cost are observed, analyzed, and translated into formal CI measures. Results indicate significant impacts of CI on the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of collaborative activities in emerging e-Work networks.

There has been a continuously increasing focus and discussion on interdisciplinary collaboration in primary care, across various settings and in different forums, during the past few years. Interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration should be a cornerstone of daily practice and context-relevant research. We considered it important for this manuscript to attempt to address some of the key issues linked to the recognised need for competence-based training, focusing on interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration, so as to promote and enhance context-relevant research in primary care. This article provides a general introduction and an overview of this topic, along with some key concepts and operational definitions. These key definitions and their interrelated nature are examined in detail, including those of practice-based research network, patient-centred primary care research, and interdisciplinary partnership for research. Furthermore, this paper outlines the reasons for the strong focus on composition and the development of strategies to enhance the research capacity of interdisciplinary partnerships throughout training. Workforce training, retention and academic collaboration are considered, with a particular focus on primary care, and existing interprofessional relationships and perceptions thereof. Organizational aspects influencing relationships and practice are considered along with their contribution in terms of practice, research and discourse. Finally, conclusions and recommendations, formed under the prism of rapidly changing population needs, person-centred values and the imperative need of bringing innovation to the patient in an effective and efficient manner, are presented for further discussion.

Opis:
Wynika ona z istnienia wspólnego świata, który ukazuje nam te same fakty i determinuje nieustanną rewizję przekonań każdej osoby. Obecnie mamy do czynienia z odmienną sytuacją.
The early Internet allowed for an extreme intensity of this informational cooperation. At present, we are dealing with a different kind of situation. Several factors, including the growing porosity between scientists and the public, have strengthened the role of exchange. It is not an exchange of information, but an exchange of opinions. The biases, inherent to human nature, and especially the confirmation bias, tends to reverse the relationship between facts and opinions. We search for the facts confirming the opinions we hold, doubt those which undermine them and create facts to corroborate what we believe. Hence, we go from cooperation to affiliation, dividing the Internet into homogenic groups of believers.

This paper offers an interdisciplinary perspective on the meaning of emotion in politics. Politics will be understood as a people’s ability to live together. The author is a ranging synthesis of social sciences, psychology, biology and neuroscience for better illustration of issues of populism and other forms of social engagement. The paper is in the form of bringing the topics of emotions as a compass of our common human behavioural political make-up. Using the landscape metaphor allows for exploring the complete divergence of human emotions, sunny peaks of empathy, altruism, trust and dark shadowed valleys of fear, anger and distrust. In this manner, some explanation for populist behaviour is given. Collecting various sources of data is offered to experiment with varied forms of narrative and finally to discuss the findings but also to articulate an “emotional” call to collective kindness.

This paper explores the use of multiple lenses to understand the past and current conditions for LGBT+ people in Poland. An international, university-level collaboration uses a framework of “invisible groups” to highlight the needs of those who are on the margins of society and whose human and individual rights are suppressed. The article reviews the results of a recently published on-line survey of LGBT+ populations and their views of their experiences in Polish society to illustrate their “invisibility” and the need for advocacy from the international social work community.

Aim: The borderland is a category that has been the subject of many theoretical resolutions, in the field of philosophy, sociology and pedagogy. For the needs of the presented analyses, the category of borderland has been adopted in territorial terms, in which it is an area, a common space in which two or more ethnic and cultural groups function. The forms of coexistence are shaped by being next to each other – contact with each other and mutual relationships. Cross-border cooperation is developing very intensively on the Polish-Czech border. This article is aimed to present selected activities carried out as part of cross-border cooperation, with a particular emphasis on those initiated and implemented by the Pedagogical Centre for Nationality Education in Czech Cieszyn. Methods: The text was prepared with the use of document analyses. Results: The result is a description of some selected activities conducted on the Polish-Czech border. Conclusions: Cross-border cooperation is aimed at removing all barriers preventing joint actions and ensuring the flow of experience between regions in different countries. Various ways of building cooperation between neighbours in individual Euroregions can be considered, as well as various ways in which the inhabitants of the borderland use its potential in different parts of the border zone. The funds allocated for joint workshops, field activities, sports or cultural events are aimed at fostering the familiarization with neighbour, seeking knowledge and overcoming stereotypes that may contribute to creating barriers to establishing closer relationships.

Abstract: Ustawa o wspieraniu rodziny i systemie pieczy zastępczej (the statute on family support and surrogate care) has obliged municipalities to provide help for dysfunctional families and their children. That is to be brought into effect through the work of the family assistant. The purpose of this help is to make it possible for dysfunctional families to overcome obstacles deriving from the process of the upbringing of young children. The assistant is to help parents fulfill their social functions that might, in effect, lead to the stability of life preventing children from being placed in foster families and institutions. The family assistant is a new position in the structure of the local administration. They work with families after the recognition of social and psychological problems, upbringing difficulties, and conflicts with the law. The work takes place with family’s consent and active participation. The main modus operandi of the assistant includes a selective support of the activities of the person under his/her charge.

This paper is concerned with spatial policy in Ireland. It adopts an historical lens to help explain why Ireland currently finds itself at the bottom of the European league table with regard to local governance. After categorising the Irish political and planning system as highly centralised, bureaucratic and linear, the paper uses a case study of the Moycullen village plan to show an alternate path towards place development in Ireland. This case study sets out to contrast the desire of a people to collaborate in the authorship of their place with the top down nature of spatial planning in Ireland. By making clear the methods and results of the project, this paper highlights the latent demand that exists in a community that is subject to national planning system that reduces their ability to affect change. Through the use of some innovative approaches, this project has sought to fire the geographic imaginary of a people with respect to their place.

Bibliometric analysis is instrumental in analysing and documenting the publication trends of a particular variable over time. In the framework of Bibliometric analysis, this study investigates the trends of borderline personality disorder (BPD). Data were retrieved from the Scopus database between 2010 and 2020. Further, the study was delimited to psychology, social sciences, and arts and humanities subjects only. Publications produced in English were considered for the study. In the backdrop of the selection scheme, a total of 1453 publications were extracted from the database. It is evident from the analysis that there is a significant difference between the number of citations with respect to year of publishing and type of publication. Review papers score a greater number of citations. Both national and international collaborations should be supported to produce quality publications.

Presently cooperation plays a very important role. It should be stressed, that both in the economic practice and the general literature there is a lack of homogonous conception and even definition, which comprehensively describes the phenomenon of cooperation. The paper presents different opinions and a point of view characterizing the cooperation issue.

The history of Slovenian Catholic Church is a field, which is not well known in Poland. That is why this article aims to present one of the peculiar episode from the past of Slovenian Catholicism. The article covers the time of the Second World War and the govern of marshal Tito. During the Second World War Slovenian Catholic Church existed under the occupation of the fascist countries – Italy and The Third Reich. In this period, the main offensive power was the communists, who were fighting against invaders and often had a negative attitude towards clergy. Their attitude resulted in collaboration of Slovenian catholic hierarchs with the communists. The communists’ governs established in 1945 and the consolidation of Tito’s power situated the Catholic Church in a new reality, which was Yugoslavian variant of communism called “Titoism”. This doctrine shaped terms of the existence of Slovenian Catholic Church until 1980 when the marshal Tito died and the Yugoslavia’s breakdown began.

Opis:
This paper addresses a problem which has been central in teacher education for several decades: how to encourage critical reflectivity in prospective EFL1 teachers. This problem is set within the larger context of the field of school, family and community partnerships. The rationale behind choosing this context is that there is a gap between the significance of various types of such partnerships for the well-being of the whole child, and a lack of deeper understanding of the issue among prospective teachers. The overwhelming majority of research in the matter, conducted mainly in the USA, covers the areas of pre-school, early school and special education (e.g. Lindberg 2014). Additionally, there are few research-based articles related to building the partnership skills of preservice EFL teachers. Therefore, in this paper we attempt to describe the cases of three prospective EFL teachers involved in the process of preparing small scale empirical projects related to the parents’ perspectives. As shown in the paper, engagement in such long term and complex enterprises does not automatically develop the subjects’ deeper understanding of the important role of various types of parent involvement in the (academic) success of children.

Opis:
Purpose: The aim of this research is focused on the identification of communication patterns prior and after COVID-19 was announced and the approach to the choices that end users make in various aspects of life. Design/methodology/approach: The authors decided to execute two-step research including practical use of 4 popular collaboration platforms: Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Jitsi, Google Meet, based on the proved user experience. After a defined focus group of respondents gathered hands-on experience in a controlled manner, using the defined communication platforms, further research was carried out in the form of a survey to assess the change of behavior of respondents, considering IT tools used to support distance learning and collaboration. The research included a comparison of behavior prior the epidemic and during the epidemic period. The research covered the following aspects: how the behavior patterns of UCC use have changed across the identified areas (business, educational, private) and what are the most preferred toolsets. The following structure was applied: a short introduction to the communication platforms, definition of the research method, analysis, and discussion of the identified results. Findings: The conducted survey identified the following elements: the level of digital communication among respondents and the familiarity with different platforms have a significant role in the use and development of UCC platforms. The generic conclusion of the research was that almost all respondents have prior experience using UCC platforms. The survey has proved the 100% use of UCC cross various areas of life. Based on the research, it has been noticed that respondents tend to use one or two UCC platforms as a standard for business and private use. UCC platforms that are more widely used across different areas of life are rated as the most preferred by the respondents and include Microsoft Teams (30%) and Google Meet (23%). Research limitations/implications: The usage of non-probabilistic sampling, a relatively small sample and the usage of qualitative analysis methods were major limitations of the conducted research. Firstly, the research data was collected from students of one specialty, from one specific university. The research did not find any cultural differences in distance learning and communication. Secondly, the study uses basic statistical measures without cross analysis to enable a deeper analysis of the research. Originality/value: The presented paper is a part of the research area related to communication platforms across various areas of peoples’ life. The research was aimed at the identification of the most preferable UCC platforms and features that serve the communication purpose. The cognitive value of the paper might also be seen in the focus on a relatively narrow and homogenous group of respondents (students of e-business and digital marketing).
Zastosowano następującą strukturę: krótkie wprowadzenie do koncepcji platform komunikacyjnych, określenie metody badawczej, analiza i omówienie zidentyfikowanych wyników. Wnioski: w przeprowadzonym badaniu zidentyfikowano następujące elementy: poziom komunikacji cyfrowej wśród respondentów oraz znajomość różnych platform odgrywają istotną rolę w wykorzystaniu i preferencjach platform UCC.

This paper proposes a critical review of Geodesign methods and techniques which can be used to carry out collaborative design in participatory processes. The case study of a Geodesign workshop held in 2016 Cagliari (Italy) shows how it is possible to involve teams of members of the community in what is perhaps the most critical phase of a spatial planning process that is putting knowledge into action through the collaborative design of future change alternatives, and their choice based on negotiation. In addition, a discussion of further potential of the Geodesign approach in public participation is discussed with reference to both knowledge creation and community value and preferences accounting.

The article presents conclusions from the analysis of solutions applied in Poland in the field of implementation of joint projects of the State Fire Service and selected institutions responsible for ensuring the internal security of the state in the field of counteracting CBRN threats, including biological ones. The analysis refers to the binding legal system and the organizational solutions resulting from it. The considered legal order included the provisions of universally binding law and local law. It was assumed that the use of weapons of mass destruction in a terrorist attack might be executed through the contamination of air, water or soil, as well as by disease carriers: infected insects, rodents or people. One of the real methods of performing bioterrorists attacks is to contaminate the air by spraying, for example, biological aerosol. That is since aerosol production equipment is easily accessible, and most biological agents can be easily transported by air. The objects of such an attack will be primarily places with efficient air conditioning systems, public buildings and metro stations, and all places where people gather including railway stations, airports, shopping centers, sports and cultural facilities, government and public buildings, areas of military concentration, and places of public mass events. The considerations presented in this article refer to issues on a macro and micro scale, which allowed for distinguishing the rules of cooperation and its effectiveness. While endeavoring to objectify the conclusions from the analysis, the article was elaborated by a team of Polish, Czech, and Ukrainian experts.

I have recently suggested that some of the processes involved in the collaborative composition of new music could be analogous to several ideas introduced by Izhikevich in his theory of cortical spiking neurons and simple memory, a process which he calls Polychronization. In the Izhikevich model, the evocation of simple memories is achieved by the sequential re-firing of the same Polychronous group of neurons which was initially created in the cerebral cortex by the sensual stimulus. Each firing event within the group is contingent upon the previous firing event and, in particular, contingent upon the timing of the firings, due to a phenomenon known as “Spike Timing Dependent Plasticity.” I argue in this article that the collaborative creation of new music involves contingencies which form a Polychronous group across space and time which helps to create a temporary shared memorial space between the collaborators.

In order to assess and understand human behavior, traditional approaches to experimental design incorporate testing tools that are often artificial and devoid of corporeal features. Whilst these offer experimental control in situations in which, methodologically, real behaviors cannot be examined, there is increasing evidence that responses given in these contextually deprived experiments fail to trigger genuine responses. This may result from a lack of consideration regarding the material makeup and associations connected with the fabric of experimental tools. In a twoyear collaboration, we began to experiment with the physicality of testing tools using the domain of moral psychology as a case study. This collaboration involved thinkering and prototyping methods that included direct contact and consideration of the materials involved in experimentation. Having explored the embodied nature of morality, we combined approaches from experimental psychology, moral philosophy, design thinking, and computer science to create a new testing tool for simulated moral behavior. Although the testing tool itself generated fruitful results, this paper considers the collaborative methodology through which it was produced as a route to highlight material questions within psychological research.

Opis:
What seems clear from the experiences of researchers in CogNovo is that the concept of cognitive innovation offered a new vocabulary, and thus a clear space, within which creativity could be explored free from the baggage of prior conflicting definitions. The concept was, from its inception, intrinsically ironic in the sense that Richard Rorty developed the term. Although initially we did not fully appreciate the potential this offered, approaching creativity under the rubric of cognitive innovation led to novel ideas that would not have emerged if we had taken a more conventional discipline-led approach. One example was expressing creativity as a mathematical function and as a media form in a parallel text. The absurdity of describing a process of such complexity in this form did not pass us by. However, this self-conscious irony, not a common rhetorical strategy in the sciences, clarified our understanding of cognitive innovation as a recursive function that allowed us to express a continuity between the basic life processes of exploration, innovation and the construction of the self, and the social and cultural ramifications of these processes; creativity. It led us to conclude that cognitive innovation furnishes a view of the self as a dynamic entity, for whom reality and novelty are contingent on one’s current state, both of which can change and be changed, and offers a means for enhancing the rigor of the current debate on what counts as creative. It also reveals the value of irony in not disavowing the inevitability of multiple perspectives and prospectives on reality, and consequently offers a way to avoid unnecessary reductivism. In this paper, we will argue, as we take the insights of CogNovo forward, that irony offers a hitherto unappreciated strategy for collaborative research.

This study presents an analysis of the unprecedented growth of international research collaboration in Europe in terms of distribution of co-authorship and citation of globally indexed publications over the last decade (2009–2018). The dynamics of change that emerge from this analysis are as follows: the increasing level of international cooperation is drawing key European systems away from institutional cooperation, with stable and strong national cooperation. National scientific output, i.e. the total number of publications, remains stable, and the entire increase in the number of publications over the period should be attributed to international co-authorship publications, which are the only driving force behind the increase in the number of publications in Europe. Due to the emergence of global networked science, in which the role of national policies in cooperation is decreasing and the role of scientists is growing, the key to the development of cooperation in Europe (and in Poland) is the readiness of individual scientists to undertake international cooperation. Researchers cooperate internationally when it is profitable for them in terms of academic prestige, scientific recognition and access to research funding, which is suggested by the three models proposed here (the model of credibility cycle in science, the model of prestige maximization and the model of global science). The total number of analyzed articles indexed in the Scopus database was 5.5 million, including 2.2 million articles written in international cooperation.

An egalitarian model of university-school partnerships starts with a theoretical frame of equity and social justice. This qualitative research study sought to understand high school students’ perception of community service through an intergenerational university-high school-elementary school partnership. Data analysis consisted of detailed notes collected from university faculty who oversaw the focus group discussions and two graduate assistants who took observational notes.  These notes were analyzed and thematically organized.  The findings indicate that the students enjoyed the experience and were highly motivated to complete and read their community themed book for the younger children in their community.  This research contributes new knowledge to the field of community engagement and to the field of informal and formal education through its analysis of discussions on meaningful community service pertaining to university-school collaborative partnerships.

The objective of this study was to examine the effect of peer tutoring on college students’ academic achievement and, as well, their competencies in communication and collaboration. In particular, we investigated whether or not the effect of peer tutoring depends on the role taken in peer tutoring. 373 Korean college students attending peer tutoring participated in this study. A pre-post design employing a self-report questionnaire was used. The results indicated that peer tutoring improved both academic achievement and communicative and collaborative skills. The findings also suggested that the effect of peer-tutoring on academic achievement and responsibility for teamwork was valid only with regard to those in the role of tutees. The aim of the article was to characterize the structure of scientific collaboration launched by Polish institutions in partnership with foreign entities in 2019 with a special focus on the territorial context. An analysis of the network generated on the basis of data from the POL-on system was made: weak components, the degree centrality and the betweenness centrality for each entity were identified, as well as significant connections in the network reduced to the level of countries and to voivodeships. A key entity in the network was indicated (the Central Mining Institute). Some foreign entities show high betweenness centrality in the considered network. At the level of relations between countries, the high network density and significant activity of institutions from Germany were observed, which in the future may hinder gaining advantages. Scientific collaboration of Polish institutions is carried out mainly with centres located in Europe, but it is generally not cross-border.

More and more town centres in Western Europe are in decline, as indicated by growing shop vacancy rates in shopping streets. To turn the tide, decision makers look for revitalisation strategies. Are there any solutions? Making use of theoretical insights, empirical findings and anecdotal evidence from the Netherlands, we suggest that town centre revitalisation is a matter of connecting people, place and partnership. First, strategies should be based on an understanding of how customers (people) behave. Secondly, redesign of the physical environment (place) might be needed, since visitors prefer compact centres that are built on a human scale and known for a unique profile. Finally, close collaboration between a wide range of local stakeholders (partnership) is essential. We conclude that town centre revitalisation is possible, but takes a lot of energy and patience from the actors involved.

Celem artykułu jest prezentacja problematyki współpracy i współdziałania międzyorganizacyjnego w sektorze telekomunikacji mobilnej. W pierwszej części pracy na podstawie przeglądu literatury wskazano różnice w definiowaniu pojęć współpraca i współdziałanie. Następnie, odnosząc się do jednej z wybranych definicji, przeprowadzono analizę dwóch przypadków relacji pomiędzy operatorami T-Mobile i Orange w Polsce i Wielkiej Brytanii. Wyniki badań wskazują na różnice w przyjętych modelach więzi międzyorganizacyjnej. Odmienności przejawiają się w innym podejściu do zagadnień własności infrastruktury, praw użytkowania częstotliwości i świadczenia usług telekomunikacyjnych. Współdziałanie jest pojęciem szerszym niż współpraca i termin ten odnosi się do głębszych i mocniejszych form więzi międzyorganizacyjnych.
The aim of this article is to present the issues of inter-organizational collaboration and cooperation in mobile telecommunications sector. In the first part of the work, which is based on the review of the literature, the differences in defining the concepts of collaboration and cooperation are indicated. Then, referring to one of the selected definition, an analysis of two cases, the relationship between operators T-Mobile and Orange in Poland and the UK is carried out. The results show the differences in accepted models of inter-organizational relationships. These differences are reflected in various approaches to the issues of infrastructure ownership, the rights of the use of frequencies and providing telecommunications services. Cooperation is a broader concept than collaboration, and the term refers to a deeper and stronger forms of inter-organizational relationships.

The article deals with the prevention of cyber threats to children and adolescents through the cooperation of public institutions, which can be one of the key factors in increasing safety in the virtual world. The purpose of the article is to evaluate the effectiveness of the model of cooperation of local government institutions. The novelty of the research problem lies in the attempt to practically apply the exchange of knowledge and experience between local institutions, with a particular focus on cybersecurity education. The analysis is based on students’ responses from surveys conducted between 2019 and 2021, making it possible to apply quantitative analysis and to characterize the changes in the incidence of cyberthreats. The second research tool is qualitative analysis, through which we can learn about the impact of educational activities on the level of awareness of cybersecurity. The research period has three stages: the first is before the introduction of remote learning, the second is during the pandemic and remote learning, and the third is the return to in-school learning. The research analysis deals with the problem of digital threats that the modern school, with the support of other public institutions, has to face.

The aim of this article is to present the collaboration between companies in the energy sector in Austria and Germany. During the financial crisis 2008–2012, Austrian energy companies became important partners of German firms supplying Germany with the energy necessary for industries and households. In addition, companies from Austria and Germany participated in the first phase of construction of the pipeline Nabucco. Thanks to manage capital of Austrian and German companies, they may now jointly pursue the objective of expansion in third countries market. After the energy reform, known as the Energiewende, Germany needs more electricity, which largely provide the company with a smaller, but equally high-tech Republic of Austria.

The aim of this paper is to examine interorganisational co-operation in view of the theory of organisational entrepreneurship. The fundamental question behind the paper is whether collaboration could be perceived as entrepreneurial behaviour and, furthermore, whether opportunities could be pursued through collaboration and creating new alliances. Such a thesis is confronted with competitive aggressiveness that is proposed as one of dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation. The concepts of collaborative entrepreneurship is described. Indications to include collaboration into the entrepreneurial theory are suggested, and some ideas of conceptualisation and operationalisation are discussed.

Current glocalisation processes require the identification of priority areas for Ukraine’s further integration into the international economy. The right choice of direction, tools and forms of implementation allows the government to determine, justify and implement a competitive strategy for the country. The study aimed to determine the relationship between international economic integration and Ukraine’s global competitive power. Identifying Ukraine’s sectoral comparative advantages in trade with the EU and evaluating the index of the regional orientation of Ukraine for specific groups of goods and services made it possible to define the effects of economic collaboration with the European region. The assessment of the complementarity index of Ukrainian–European trade relations revealed that Ukraine and the European Union are main trading partners. Furthermore, the analysis of the mechanism of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union proved that the agreement actively contributes to the growth of Ukraine’s global competitive power. Comparative analysis in historical retrospect revealed priority areas for improving the integration processes which help to form the main competitive advantages of the country.

Several studies have been published to date about the use of Augmented Reality (AR) as a breakthrough technology in education, but most of them focused on the impact of using prepackaged information on student motivation and engagement. This paper analyzes the affordances and limitations of AR in second language learning, emphasizing its potential as transformative rather than delivery technology in teacher training programs. The novelty of this research is that it examines the attitudes and creative skills of pre-service teachers to meaningfully integrate AR-based projects aimed at teaching English from a Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning model. The sample size was 229 Education students from the University of Alicante (Spain), who created 47 vision-based and location-based projects through different authoring tools, and utilized them to teach English to children. Quantitative and qualitative data were gathered through a pre-post-test, teaching experience videos and class debates. The research findings revealed that the teacher candidates lack practical training in AR content creation and implementation from a technological and pedagogical perspective, but their attitudes towards AR integration as transformative technology were very positive, particularly regarding student attention, collaboration and shared enjoyment. Spearman’s Rho correlation coefficient also demonstrated a relationship between positive attitudes towards AR integration in EFL and the level of difficulty perceived by participants.

Purpose: The main purpose of this paper is to present the phenomenon of interorganizational collaboration from the strategic perspective, as a complex phenomenon, infl uenced by environmental factors, such as institutions – both formal and informal. Additional aims of the paper are: to present a model including all signifi cant elements and identifying important research gaps. Methodology: The paper presents the results of literature analyses as well as the fi ndings of the latest research studies in the fi eld of interorganizational collaboration, taking into account the environment of the organization. Conclusions: The external environment of the organization, in particular socio-cultural factors, has a significant impact on the formation, development, evolution and management of interorganizational collaboration. There are still many research gaps in this fi eld, and some of them have been presented in this paper. Research limitations: This paper is a theoretical and conceptual study. It forms an introduction to further empirical research. Originality: The paper presents the phenomenon of interorganizational collaboration in a broader context, taking into account the external environment as an element infl uencing such collaboration. Most of the works in this fi eld focus on organizations managing or coping with the environment. This paper presents a different approach. It indicates the external factors that infl uence interorganizational collaboration from a strategic perspective, and subsequently presents them in the form of a model.

As a result of universities’ growing interest in online learning, largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is necessary to adapt online learning methods to students’ professional preferences. The learning environment should accordingly be designed so as to ensure the highest possible engagement levels from the participants. This article discusses the value of collaboration in online learning along with its determinants. It highlights the need to include the crucial activities in the remote education of university students while taking into account their individualization and diverse motives. The analysis reveals that students cannot be treated as a homogeneous group; the preferences and abilities represented by them – which are associated with their field of study – determine their functioning in the remote learning environment. Based on their empirical study, the authors propose recommendations that may be helpful for educators in online collaborative learning.

In the current industrial scenarios those involved in production and services distribution are called to deal with a plurality of stakeholders, considering different interests, readings and positions. This paper exploits the concept of collaboration in this fast changes and flexible scenario by describing the characteristics of collaboration among enterprises and their scope. In this context, the purpose of all managers to maximize utility, to save cost or to minimize of transaction costs is hard to be reached. Under this prospective, to collaborate with other firms is a logical way to work and to pursue the previous objectives. The purpose of this paper is to define all the aspects of collaboration, mainly among enterprises, and the reasons that can drive a manager to stipulate a collaboration agreement. Two different ways, through collaboration can rise, have been described: collaboration induced by external body (top-down collaboration) or born in a spontaneous way (bottom-up). The management of the collaboration and the identification of key performance indicators, able to control the development of the network system, is addressed by exploiting the Italian network contract and the case study of the energy cluster.

Supply chain management is at the heart of business strategy. The types of goods delivered are extremely varied and the way to deliver to the final consumer is more and more complex. Moreover, the relations between players within the supply chain take multiple shapes and have inevitably an impact on its design. This arena of complexity leads companies to use diverse kinds of relational approaches. But the relational view is itself a large field of study and a recent trend in supply chain management. It can be focuses on joint planning, coordination, and process integration between suppliers, customers, and other partners in a supply chain. Its benefits include cost reductions, an increasing reliability and a strong responsiveness to market needs. In addition, managing a sustainable supply chain involves today additional parameters like CO2 emissions reduction, energy consumption decrease, eradication of traffic congestion problems and the need for a better traceability. Besides, recent progresses in inter-companies’ communication technologies, along with a growing use of strategic partnering, has resulted in a large variety of alternative information systems approaches for supporting a collaborative supply chain management. Helped by theories and based on empirical data from specific cases companies, this exploratory and conceptual research shows the relative influence of various specific environments on the coordination of logistics flows, with a focus on relationships between different players. This work analyzes diverse types of supply chains and gives a framework confronted with some examples showing how different players create new models of logistics organization in particular situations.

The paper aims to contribute to a better understanding of structures of collaboration and their underlying logic by combining theories on Governance and (Planning) Culture. By the introduction of an integrative approach, called the ‘The Culture-Based Governance Analysis’, aspects of both discourses are combined. Factors from the Governance discourse, providing analysis on the frameworks of collaboration, were integrated with factors from the Culture discourse, providing analysis of the underlying reasons for people collaborating or not. This novel approach provides a way to analyze and understand how existing collaborations have developed and the basis on which they operate. As a further step, it enables planners to use this knowledge for the establishment of future collaborations between already active as well as not yet involved actors, for example, in urban redevelopment processes.

The search for effective learning pathways and transformative changes in both the conceptual and curricular field and technological areas are significant challenges for higher education institutions (HEIs). Although a wide range of methods, tools, and interactive channels are available to shape an entrepreneurial mindset, students need clear objectives and understanding embedded in multidisciplinary knowledge and transferable competencies to implement practical business practice solutions. The article’s main objective is to present an experiential and result-driven approach to entrepreneurship education that aims to support students in solving real business problems by interacting with the local environment. The participatory co-creation process involved international students (147 participants from 16 nationalities), and the three cycles of two-week intensive programmes (2017-2019) were carried out within the framework of the international project ECMT+. This experimental education process is presented here using the case study method based on the author’s experience, observation and reflection. The study reveals that hands-on activities designed for the project positively affected student learning outcomes and motivated them to acquire entrepreneurial competencies. However, entrepreneurship education has to be more inclusive and develop good practice to meet local needs and more diverse learners.

Aim/purpose – The paper analyses how game theory can be exploited to provide the implementation of profit allocations among the members of the fourth party logistics supply chain coalition system. Design/methodology/approach – The study compares four allocation rules from cooperative game theory in order to explore fair and reasonable sharing of revenue among the partners in the venture. Findings – As a result, more practical situations can be modelled and more supply chain efficiency can be obtained throughout the several steps carried out by decision makers. Our computational analysis establishes that the proposed methods are computationally efficient and can be implemented to solve real-life problems. Research implications/limitations – Our business process simulation of the 4PL supply chain coalition including a simulation of the profit allocation concept allowed us to develop a broad understanding of the management process of the 4PL supply chain coalition approach. Originality/value/contribution – A comparison of the different methods based on game theory provided an opportunity for reaching the prefect collaboration. These views enrich our understanding of the 4PL supply chain coalition and help us to implement an innovative development for the sector.

The article presents the political situation in Poland after the 2005 Polish parliamen-tary elections and describes key points of the political program of Law and Justice, which was titled “Czwarta Rzeczpospolita”. The elections in 2005 were won by Law and Justice, a conservative party, who were led by Jarosław Kaczyński. Civic Platform occupied second place. Both parties wanted to cooperate in creating a majority coalition in the lower House of Parliament but the victory of Law and Justice and the troubled negotiations along with the triumph of Lech Kaczyński in the presidential election brought an end to the collaboration between these parties. The victorious party had to look for a partners to govern among the remaining parties. Eventually, the chiefs of Law and Justice decided to sign a stabilization pact with League of Polish Families and Self Defense Party. The agreement, signed in February 2006, did not bring about an end to the crisis of politics in Poland, therefore political leaders decided to announce an early election in 2007.

Scholarly collaboration is relatively well described quantitatively on the macro level thanks to the analyses of large bibliographic databases. At the same time, there are known limitations of the bibliometric approaches to studying collaboration in science. We argue that in order to improve our understanding of social processes operating in science it is necessary to take a more in-depth look: (1) identify kinds of actors that are recognized as potential partners in collaboration, (2) what features of collaborative relations are considered crucial for engaged actors, (3) what kinds of structures of networks composed of collaboration relations actors are embedded in, and what PSR202-02factors influence these structures. With 30 individual in-depth interviews (IDI) with Polish scholars we gathered detailed information about individual collaborations that allowed us to analyze collaborative ties from individual perspective and map respondent-centered networks of collaboration. Scholars identify individuals as well as teams or institutions as collaborators. They also distinguish symmetric and asymmetric collaborations. Structures of respondent-centered collaboration networks are affected by (a) leadership strategies of team principals (especially whether teams are built around positions or individuals); (b) institutional location (by making establishing external collaborations easier for scientists from bigger institutions); (c) scientific degree and recent changes in financing of science (as young scientists receive more freedom from usual organizational hierarchies by receiving substantial grants).

Background: An increasing number of commercial firms are participating in Open Source Software (OSS) projects to reduce their development cost and increase technical innovativeness. When collaborating with other firms whose sought values are conflicts of interests, firms may behave uncooperatively leading to harmful impacts on the common goal. Aim: This study explores how software firms both collaborate and compete in OSS projects. Method: We adopted a mixed research method on three OSS projects. Result: We found that commercial firms participating in community-initiated OSS projects collaborate in various ways across the organizational boundaries. While most of firms contribute little, a small number of firms that are very active and account for large proportions of contributions. We proposed a conceptual model to explain for coopetition among software firms in OSS projects. The model shows two aspects of coopetition can be managed at the same time based on firm gatekeepers. Conclusion: Firms need to operationalize their coopetition strategies to maximize value gained from participating in OSS projects.

The article presents the comparative analysis of the basic principles of programmed teaching, and constructivism for their subsequent use in creating open learning didactics in view of the collaborative approach and collaboration-oriented activities. What is investigated is the fact that the same idea forms the basis of the two paradigms (constructivism and personal learning): the humanistic character of education, taking individual characteristics into account, the activitybased approach, and the collaborative activity of a student. The assumptions about increasing the efficiency of the educational process, based on the ideas of integrative unity of these concepts, are justified. Further development of the personally-oriented approach in terms of such interconnected approaches as e-learning, connectionism, and combined learning is discovered. Simultaneously, programmed teaching – also experiencing its renaissance – can be used effectively and purposefully in educational collaboration in connection with other paradigms.

Scientific and commercial endeavors could benefit from cross-organizational, decentralized collaboration, which becomes the key to innovation. This work addresses one of its challenges, namely efficient access control to assets for distributed data processing among autonomous data centers. We propose a group membership management framework dedicated for realizing access control in decentralized environments. Its novelty lies in a synergy of two concepts: a decentralized knowledge base and an incremental indexing scheme, both assuming a P2P architecture, where each peer retains autonomy and has full control over the choice of peers it cooperates with. The extent of exchanged information is reduced to the minimum required for user collaboration and assumes limited trust between peers. The indexing scheme is optimized for read-intensive scenarios by offering fast queries – look-ups in precomputed indices. The index precomputation increases the complexity of update operations, but their performance is arguably sufficient for large organizations, as shown by conducted tests. We believe that our framework is a major contribution towards decentralized, cross-organizational collaboration.

This article examines the rapid and radical adaptations to total distance learning that the COVID-19 pandemic required of teachers using TraduXio, a multilingual digital translation platform for collaborative translation work (https://traduxio.org). The teachers discuss the changes that the sudden transition brought to their classroom work, which included adjusting activities to suit the evolving needs of the learners and the varying reactions of the students themselves; they conclude by providing a brief assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of the 100% distance learning/teaching situation. Three main benefits of the switch to distance learning of translation are addressed: 1) making learners aware of the importance of individual interpretation in translation, 2) developing their sensitivity to consistency in translation choices across a group of translators (terminology, tense, tone), and 3) focusing their attention on the importance of discussion in the translation process.

The aim of the article is to provide answers to two research questions. Firstly, what in business practice is needed to convert a contact into beneficial relationship. And secondly, whether numerous personal contacts, the so-called “connections” are sufficient to achieve sustained success in creating business relationships. The authors responded the questions by using the results of research conducted among 419 companies. As a result they proposed a scheme of the development process from contact to a beneficial relationship.

The plague of present schools is to promote competition through various tasks and activities. The entire school system is based on comparisons and competitions. Schools, teachers and students are unfairly judged and graded through the results of various tests. Based on the results of external tests school rankings are developed. Interestingly, what is the culture in good schools occupies a high position in the ranking – is it collaborative or not? Is unity of purpose – which is education at the highest professional level – a sufficient condition for cooperation? Or in this case, cooperation between members of school community is unnecessary? The author in this paper presents some reflections taking into account above mentioned issues based on the case study. Research was carried out in one of the best middle school in one of the major city in Poland. The main aim of the study was a multi-faceted exploration of school culture. Quantitative analysis were complemented with qualitative analysis. Results indicate that (1) school presented in this study is characterized by an emphasis on professional development and goal orientation, (2) school is dominated by a culture of individualism and competition, (3) teachers recognize the need to improve interpersonal relationships among school staff, (4) in teachers’ opinions the school management and the introduction of electronic registration system are the reason of poor interpersonal relationships.

Poles are today the largest group of family immigrants to Norway. Since Polish immigration is an intra-European movement of labour, there are no specific laws or regulations, apart from labour regulations, pertaining to the introduction of Polish families to Norway and their settlement there. Consequently, there are few guidelines in schools and local authorities on dealing with Polish children in school. They receive the same introduction to school as immigrants from any other background, with no consideration of the specific characteristics of Poles. Equally, their parents are not eligible for the orientation courses and language classes that are offered to adult asylum seekers or refugees. As these are expensive, many Polish parents postpone language classes until they can afford them or find alternative ways of learning language and culture. In this article, I explore the inclusion of Polish children in Norwegian schools through the voices of teachers receiving Polish children in their classrooms and Polish mothers of children attending school in Norway. Interviews with both teachers and mothers reveal inadequate understandings of each other’s conceptions of school, education and the roles of home and school in the education of children. They also demonstrate a limited understanding of culturally bound interpretations of each other’s actions. Although both sides are committed to the idea of effective integration, we risk overlooking the social and academic challenges that Polish children face in Norwegian schools unless conceptions and expectations of school and education are articulated and actions are explained and contextualised. There is also a risk that cultural differences will be perceived as individual problems, while real individual problems may be overlooked due to poor communication between schools and families. The data is drawn from an extended case study including classroom observations, interviews with teachers and Polish mothers in Norway, and focus groups of educators and researchers in the field of social work.

The recently emerging new types of collaborative work and unconventional workplaces indicate that shifting social and economic practices have odd spatial implications. The diversity of work, mostly based on hybrid social and economic logics, has brought forth a number of new contextualised spatial constructs in recent years: makerspaces, fab labs, open workshops, and co-working spaces now require detailed analytical reconstruction and conceptualisation. This article is a theoretical discussion of the nature of fluid and contingent spatialisation against the backdrop of binary explanatory categories (e.g. local-global; proximity-distance). Drawing upon modernised concepts of horizontal scaling, we propose a perspective on hybrid work which focuses on contingent multiple, multidirectional and temporal scalings created by a variety of users while developing their own micro-worlds of work.

The paper emphasises the role of analogical thinking within the context of 21st century learning. It is also argued that effective e-learning comprises of individual learning, learning by collaboration, and learning in a real world environment which motivates learners to use e-learning materials independently, and, at the same time, provides a dynamic and collaborative learning process. Two case studies provide practical examples for proving the viewpoint that e-learning can provide successful learning outcomes if specific factors are taken into account.

This article is aimed at presenting the results from research. The aim of the research was to verify whether children organized in groups work more effectively in achieving a common goal. The research method employed was that of a social experiment under natural conditions, with the parallel groups technique. The research group consisted of 100 six-year-old children over the course of two school years from two public kindergartens in the same location of a single town. The assumption was that the frequency of collaboration would be higher at the end of the school year for children organised by teachers into groups in order to achieve a common goal compared to children for whom this opportunity is intentionally not created by their teachers. The assumption was confirmed for the methods in which collaboration was manifested: The assumption was confirmed for manifestations of cooperation: continuous, effective communication; helping a friend; praise, encouragement. The following was not confi rmed: expression of one’s own opinion/proposal; engagement in the achievement of a common goal.

Opis:
Due to changes in the consumer market, prosumers are gaining increasingly important role in today's global economy. The article presents a typology of prosumers, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of collaboration with this group of consumers. This can be done by companies through implementation of collaboration platforms, which allow to establish a collaboration both with active prosumers, as well as passive consumers. Thus the benefits of such actions are received by all of those entities. By the application of the concept of collaboration platforms and reference to the modified concept of international entrepreneurship, and author`s conception of Marketing 4.0, the author proposes a solution for companies that base their strategy on improving their competitivenessin relation to other entities.

Nicolae Iorga is a person of much significance in the history and culture of Romania. He very often spoke about Polish matters in a broad sense pertaining both to academic and political issues. Nicolae Iorga’s involvement with Poland is noticeable almost constantly during his scientific and political career. From the time of primary school to his tragic death, Poland and its affairs were present in his activities also through the influence of his teachers, professors or later political partners,. Thanks to his historical education, Iorga saw Poland as an important partner of Romania on the international stage; moreover, as a guarantee of political security; but also an important partner in the context of cultural development. The initiator of the Romanian language and culture courses at the Jagiellonian University, Nicolae Iorga was given a honorary doctorate by Wilno University in 1931 for his important role in strengthening relations between Poland and Romania.

Opis:
More and more, the ability to innovate can be considered as an explanatory factor in determining the long-term potential of firms to be competitive. Therefore, it is of increasing importance to understand the critical success factors behind notably radical product innovations. The present paper explores the yields and results in terms of a series of competitiveness indicators that domestic and foreign firms in the Basque Country obtain from technological collaboration practices. In particular, the study seeks to assess differences in the way these two groups of firms organize their technological partnerships (in terms of the geographical spread of partners with whom they cooperate and the purposes for which they deploy collaboration: for commercial or science/knowledge generation), and the comparative differences that stem from their respective practices. The study uses firm level data from the Euskadi Innovation Survey 2011, for firms located in the Basque Country. The paper finds that (a) technological collaborations comprising different types of partners have the greatest positive impact on innovation novelty, and (b) when looking at the firm’s nationality, collaboration strategies developed by foreign firms have a higher impact on achieving novel innovation. We posit that the higher degree of product innovation we observe among foreign firms – as opposed to domestic firms in the Basque Country – relies on their ability to benefit from both inter-regional partnerships and commercial-based networks for the sake of innovation purposes.

Background: The networked economy is a result of the increasing specialization and productivity. The blurring of company boundaries enables potential for new competitive advantages. However, along with the growing networked economy, the complexity also increases. Methods: With their current study the German logistics association sheds a light on the most important trends of the networked and complex economy and the strategies of logistics and supply chain management (SCM) coping with them. Results and conclusions: This paper focuses on the collaboration of actors in logistics and supply chain management and the communication required for being successful. Furthermore, going beyond the study, the role of collaboration for innovation in logistics and SCM is considered, that has been neglected in literature so far. Finally, the paper concludes with a discussion reflecting the current state of collaboration in the context of its potential.

As a manufacturing, logistics and supply chain hub within ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), Thailand holds the 12th spot in global vehicle production for an estimated 2,355 Thai and multinational automotive industry enterprises. Within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Thailand ranks number one in automotive production contributing $US11.4 billion to the Thai economy and 12 percent to Thailand’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product), with the automotive industry being Thailand’s leading export sector. However, the automotive companies envisage the difficulty of cultural diversity to manage and coordinate. Therefore, cultural values from the milieu are inducted into the workplace and have a strong impact on both individual behavior and organizational effectiveness and must be direction at all levels for cross-cultural, organizational effectiveness to be achieved. It also became evident that natural disasters are frequent and highly disruptive to the global automotive supply chain and paces must be taken to countervailing the notable and continuing loss to economic growth and organizational effectiveness to both sector units and the global industry. The implementation of strategically placed, environmentally ‘habituated’, automotive parts logistics cache might be one solution to the problem. Given the crucial importance of this sector to the economy of the region and the global supply chain, the researchers surveyed 220 managers using a 7-point Likert scale questionnaire within the multinational industrial clusters of Thailand’s ‘Detroit of Asia’ Eastern Seaboard region. Using Structural Equation Modelling to test the 11 variables on Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management and Organizational Effectiveness in a cross-cultural context, it was determined that collaboration within the supply chain and the exchange of information can reduce uncertainty, with trust being a key ingredient to a JV’s success. Communication (0.836), trust (0.834) and collaboration (0.824) were ranked as significant components of cross-cultural Supply Chain Management effectiveness. The research also confirmed that the hypothesized difficulty from cultural diversity is difficult to manage and to coordinate. Analysis also confirmed the ongoing and significant problems to the global automotive supply chain by natural disasters and the consequential economic losses.

Bliskość geograficzna i instytucjonalna miały minimalne znaczenie.
In the recent few decades we have witnessed unprecedented intensifi cation of scientific collaboration worldwide. In Poland, the scale of collaboration, especially international, is clearly lower than in most of the European countries. The aim of the article is to analyze the mechanisms and preferences of establishing scientific collaboration by the Polish researchers. Using R. Boschma’s concept of proximity we investigated how the role of various types of proximity differs in establishing scientific collaboration depending on the standing of a scientific centre. The analysis is based on 61 interviews with scientists in four Polish cities. It was revealed that in establishing scientific collaboration the most important was cognitive proximity, and – to a lesser extent – organizational and social. Geographical and institutional proximities were of a minor signifi cance. Additionally, for scientists from peripheral scientific centres national contacts played an important role in establishing international collaborative links. Based on the results, we proposed recommendations for science policy focused on spurring scientific collaboration.

In its recent Communication, the European Commission calls for greater use of collaborative professional development for teachers in member states (European Commission 2017a). Although peer collaboration is gaining ground, it has not yet become the norm across Europe. Undoubtedly, different kinds of continuing professional development (CPD) are more conducive than others for being collaborative. However, if the intention is to develop teacher collaboration in their routine work, then it makes sense that, where appropriate, the CPD provided should also be collaborative. A form of CPD that is relevant for all countries is the kind offered by external coaches visiting schools to support curriculum reform. This article examines the lessons that can be learned from an evaluation of such a national program of CPD in Ireland. While there were various organizational issues that impeded the nature and extent of teacher collaboration in the CPD, it is argued that the external coach played an important role in creating the conditions for collaborative practices among the teachers later on, including peer coaching. This can then support the cultivation of a culture of ‘collaborative professionalism’ in schools, as opposed to simply ‘professional collaboration’ (Hargreaves, O’Connor 2017).

Opis:
This article reviews the current findings regarding the issue of Soviet prisoners of war held by the Wehrmacht. The author focuses on three main aspects of the Red Army soldiers’ captivity: extermination, mass labour and collaboration. The first phenomenon, which has often been associated with a deliberate extermination of prisoners as part of the so-called commissars’ order, resulted from the ideological premises of the war of annihilation which had been waged against the USSR. However, the author demonstrates that the Supreme Command of the Wehrmacht was in fact pursuing the same goal, as it neglected the preparation of the camps, the so-called Russenlager, to house prisoners, and showed indifference to the high mortality rate of the Red Army soldiers. This happened despite the fact that a significant part of German administration was convinced of the need to send Soviet prisoners of war to work in the Third Reich. The use of the Red Army soldiers in labour, which rose steadily after 1942, was accompanied by attempts to improve their situation, but these activities were carried out only inconsistently. As a result, the Third Reich’s authorities did not fully exploit the potential of this workforce, nor did they make political use of the anti-Sovietism of those Soviet prisoners of war who joined the collaborative formations.
