Opis:
Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) is one of the fastest growing ELT sectors. To date, the teaching methods of MALL appear overly influenced by the desires of businesses, large institutions and technicians to produce easily measurable outcomes, rather than foundations built on upon pedagogical research that emphasises the importance of developing the communicative competence of learners. Findings from initial studies on MALL indicate not only the feasibility of using mobile devices for communicative purposes within classroom teaching, but also the opportunities they provide to implement a communicative approach more successfully than previously possible. Outworkings of this potential need to be established while the development of MALL remains at the “work in progress” stage.

Opis:
For the purposes of the academic course entitled Methods of Initial Formation of Mathematical Concepts, we created a didactic and manipulative pro-duct “Kockalica” (cubes) which is applicable in about 50 school lessons. These findings have come out as a result of numerous submitted seminar works, prepared teaching resources, activities and simulation tasks developed by students of College of Vocational Studies in Subotica. During the implementation of the final exams and professional development sessions in kindergartens, this didactic resource has been implemented in a number of educational topics. The conducted survey, developed by our students and kindergarten teachers, indicates the usefulness and applicability of “Kockalica” (cubes) in the acquisition of mathematical concepts in children of this age. In the process of shaping of this simple and widely applicable teaching resource, Braille script has been carved onto the surface, making it more accessible for visually impaired and blind children. The aim of the paper is to present an innovative teaching resource “Kockalica” (cubes) to a wider range of potential users and practitioners.

“As in other social settings, every classroom will have a few students who will choose not to involve themselves in classroom activities and, instead, be disruptive forces”. Managing disruptive behavior calls for a special set of techniques and ways to change it, at least during the time that the student is in school (Arends1991:170-172). The aim of this paper is to discover whether teachers employ multifarious techniques and strategies while dealing with discipline problems and how these techniques work in the classroom context.

This theoretical study explores the flipped classroom concept as an innovative teaching method within higher education. The main aim is to present the benefits and limits of implementing the flipped classroom in the Czech higher educational context. The authors evaluate problematic areas of implementing the flipped classroom based on a content analysis of research studies from selected European countries and specify possible bottlenecks affecting its implementation in the Czech university environment. Referring to the results, the flipped classroom concept promotes student-centred learning, the activation and development of students’ competence to learn, but its effective implementation in the university environment is contextually conditioned.

Global research studies on distance education in foreign language learning focus primarily on secondary schools or higher education. The paper examines primary school foreign language teachers’ (n=119) perceptions of distance teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to face-to-face education. The purpose of the study was to investigate the quality, achieved learning outcomes, advantages and obstacles faced by FL teachers in remote teaching. Based on the e-questionnaire, our study indicated that distance FL teaching was more challenging and stressful than classroom teaching because primary school students were not responsive to technology and needed parental guidance. Primary school students rely on cognitive and socio-emotional support from the FL teacher.

The study examines the impact of the Flipped Classroom (FCM) on the development of key competences for the 21st century (KC21) in future teachers. Experimental design with two parallel groups was used. The sample consisted of 122 students of the Faculty of Education, i.e., experimental group-EG (60), and control group-CG (62). The EG attended lectures implementing the FCM, while the CG received traditional instruction. Results show that there is no significant difference in self-assessment of competence development between the EG and CG related to creativity, responsible attitude towards work, health and environment. There is a significant difference in the self-assessment of competences related to socio-emotional skills, problem solving, critical thinking, information and ICT literacy and learning to learn. The conclusion is that the implementation of the FCM can influence the development of the majority of KC21.

Within the project of "Supporting teaching mathematics at the Technical School based on modern information technology", which is carried out in cooperation between Gromar Company and Lodz University of Technology, we have produced training materials in Mathematics. In this article we will present the possibility of how to use the training in the flipped method. We will also present the case study of the training module "Quadratic inequalities".
W ramach projektu „Wspomaganie nauczania matematyki w Technikum w oparciu o nowoczesne technologie informacyjne” realizowanego w partnerstwie przez firmę Gromar i Politechnikę Łódzką zostały wytworzone materiały szkoleniowe z matematyki. W artykule przedstawiamy możliwość wykorzystania szkoleń do metody odwróconej klasy.
