Opis:
Contemporary psychology ascribes a very important role to both upbringing and teaching-learning processes in psychical development. It is indicated that a child’s personality is being shaped as a result of this influence. The most intensive development obviously concerns the youngest children because both psyche and organism of the child are distinguished by large plasticity in the period of early childhood. The elementary regulating mechanisms based on impulses and emotions dependent on functions of the subcortical centres are shaped in this period. The small child’s behaviour is still little organized, changeable and impulsive. The child is mainly guided by emotions. Children acquire their basic orientation to the world in the first school years, at the level of primary teaching, and first of all, in their closest environment. They gain knowledge about reality by means of free observations of concrete objects and phenomena turning gradually tasks carried out in the form of fun into didactic activities, i.e., to planned and regular learning and teaching. The child should be already prepared to live an individual life in a democratic society since early childhood where co-existence is guarded by wise principles of co-operation. Pupils’ preparation to the individual life is also necessary. Formation of proper attitudes, personality, and skills and knowledge is the most important general aim of upbringing accomplished at school. School supports families in these areas and supplement their influences. Up to now a practical example stirring up plenty of controversy in the environment of both parents and teachers has been for instance Personal Health and Social Education. Therefore we say about three phases of the professional attitude of teachers which they are going through while learning to teach. The first phase consists of attitude of acting how to survive a teacher who has just taken a job is mainly concerned with survival. He worries about assessment of his interpersonal relationships, and whether superiors and pupils will grow fond of him. The second phase is his attitude to a didactic situation. In that phase teachers already habitually fulfil certain tasks and carry out definite actions. Teachers’ attention and energy are transferred to the process of teaching itself. Last stage is achievement of professional maturity and an attitude towards pupils. In this phase teachers try to use more methods and strategy so that pupils could understand presented issues. The functions of improvement of professional skills by teachers should be correlated with supporting top-down educational reforms.

High technology has shrunk the world so drastically that professionals have to complete with others internationally. This simply means that if Engineering students do not learn effectively, the graduates will hardly stand a chance in the global competition. This research presents information on the status of accreditation and evaluation of engineering programs in different countries around the world. The focus will be on United States ABET criteria 2016, the Canadian Council of Professional Engineering criteria and the FEANI standards for European institutions Accreditation policies and procedures of other countries are also described briefly in the research. Information on mutual recognition agreements and the cross border recognition of engineering education will also be emphasized.

The issue of institutional care of the youngest children has been rarely discussed in scientific studies. In the context of the contemporary debates about improving the quality of toddlers’ care and education, it is a good idea to remind about the origin of nurseries and the development thereof. The first nurseries were established in Poland over 100 years ago. From the beginning, before Poland even regained independence until present day, they have changed their functions and organization. The aim of the article is to show the changes to the function of crèches against a political, social and cultural background since the very beginning of the existence of nurseries until the outbreak of World War II. The method used in this article is historical explanation, and the technique is an analysis of documents: literature, magazines, legal acts. The responsibilities of crèches discussed in this article include care, health -related, educational, upbringing and family-related activities This is the first of two articles related to changes in the function of crèches in a historical approach.

We are therefore reminded that philosophy, language, and literature have a great deal of educational tenet, especially in the African world view. To foster holistic values in line with education, this study investigates that philosophy; language and literature have been in the transformation of armchair theorization of various disciplines into a pragmatic solution for our contemporary challenges. Using evaluative approach, this study opens up the fact that philosophy, language, and literature is not really a single filed of disciplines but rather a catchall for a number of problems whose scope and significance are so broad that they seem to have implication for virtually every other sphere of human endeavors. Z perspektywy historii, filozofia, język i literatura stanowią siłę napędową w kierunku osiągnięcia wysokiego poziomu kultury ludzkiej cywilizacji. W celu promowania wartości holistycznych zgodnie z edukacją, w niniejszym artykule zbadano czy filozofia, język i literatura wpływają na pragmatyczne rozwiązanie współczesnych wyzwań. The socio-cultural transformations of recent decades are very intense. They concern the most fundamental aspects of human existence: the meaning and purpose of life, the concept of happiness, interpersonal relationships, the model of society and family life. The events of recent years that have appeared in the landscape of Polish streets (so-called “equality marches”) and the Polish school (e.g. “rainbow Friday”, sex education classes run by LGBT activists) require a thorough diagnosis of this phenomenon and formulating adequate answers meeting new challenges. The family is a sensitive resonator of social and cultural processes in post-modernity. In todayʼs family as a basic social group there are changes that cause concern. Their revolutionary nature results from the questioning of undeniable values until recently, such as the irreplaceable role of the family in raising children, love, responsibility and faithfulness. Questions arise about the consequences of cultural changes in post-modernity for the functioning of marriage and family. Gender ideology is a consequence of losing the right ontological and metaphysical perspective. The gender impact opens the way to the destruction of the foundations of marriage and family as well as interpersonal relationships. A new anti-pedagogy arises on the basis of the gender vision of the world, for which the theory of education consists in rejecting authority, discipline, a permanent system of values, the need to work on one's own character and making any requirements.

Opis:
Collegiate book collections from the Old Polish period – and the presented one belongs to them – are quite poorly described. In the case of Kurzelów we are in a rather good situation, since a fragment of the list of books that belonged to the collection in 1765 has been preserved. The inventory consists of 45 items, some of which contain a few books bound together. It seems that the discussed set of authors and works is typical, as far as the circle of collegiate and parish clergy is concerned. Taking this into consideration, it is proper to ask the question if the books were used by the local clergy in their pastoral work, and in the education process in the Kurzelów Collegiate school. Although an attempt to answer the question is hypothetical in its character, it still allows one to form a view of the level of teaching in the local school and of the intellectual formation of the Kurzelów clergy that did not differ much from other, similar centers of intellectual life of the Old Polish epoch.

Opis:
The reforms of the initial vocational education in Poland (1999, 2012, and 2017–2019) placed learning outcomes in the centre of attention, strengthened work-based learning, introduced a forecast for the labour market demand for graduates, and launched a graduate monitoring system. However, several challenges remain, such as the low level of students’ general skills and inadequate funding. Recent surveys and the newly developed graduate monitoring system based on administrative data show that vocational education is heterogeneous. In addition to the differences in educational and labour market status by type of school, the situation of juvenile workers in the dual system differs from the situation of other students of sectoral schools. The educational and labour market experiences also vary by sector of training.

The contribution presents a new education and training programme “Stepping into Life with the Right Values,” aimed to improve integration of mentally disabled pupils into the system of vocational training centres and thus also society. The goal of the presented programme was not only to create suitable conditions for pupils’ harmonious adaptation to the dormitory environment, but also to teach them appropriate orientation in various life situations. Effectiveness of the programme was verified experimentally at selected vocational training centres in Slovakia during the 2015/2016, 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 school years. Our research confirmed that pupils who had gone through the adaptation process using the new programme were statistically significantly better oriented in ordinary life situations at the school dormitory, but also in ordinary life situations outside.

This article aims to map current state policy and governmental responses to migrant integration in Poland, as well as to identify pressing needs and key challenges in this area, with a particular focus on language and education. It draws on a literature review and analysis of legal documents and reports on migrant integration and language policy for 1989–2020. When analysing the data, particular attention was paid to the declared state policy on migrant integration and its actual implementation, as captured in the Supreme Audit Office (NIK 2015, 2020) and Migrant Integration Policy Index reports (MIPEX 2015, 2020). The research shows that the scope of integration activities and their effects have been unsatisfactory to date. The situation of migrants in Poland was dubbed “equality on paper” in the MIPEX 2020 report. Current programmes and activities are not fostering full integration of migrants. Apart from housing and employment issues, a lack of language skills and education that is not responsive to the needs of migrants remain the main barriers to migrant integration in Poland.

The article uses source materials to present the situation of the family of Stanisław Kazimierz Kruszyński, a noble living with his relatives in Lower Łąkta in Lesser Poland. The sylwa stored in the collection of Ossolineum in Wroclaw, contains several messages about children. These are notes speaking of the birth of subsequent children, the place and circumstances of their baptism. We also have a poem written by a mother after the death of her youngest children. And above all same, recommendations for the education of sons to be found in the will and the supplement to it. They had to study at the Piarist college in Podoliniec and then practice at the office. These few preserved sources provide us with information about family life and attitudes towards children in the early 18th century.

It’s not easy to discuss,and think about the pedagogy when the nation suffers during the military conflict and invasion, which was the case of Poland during the Second World War – during such dramatic times the priority is survival. However, many years after the war, it is worth pointingout the effort and the dedication of teachers/educators who stayed with their students until the end. They remained in schools, orphanages and other educational institutions where kids could need them. Based on documents, literature and the personal experiencesof the author, the paper “Survive and save your identity” describes in a detail the activity of the Female Scouts who were the part of the RGO, an Organisation For the Youth of Warsaw in the years 1939-1945. The article manifests the importance of pedagogical and moral principles during the nations fight for survival.

Aim: To draft life trajectories and focus on major achievements of Prof. Mokrzecki who died in July, 2021. Methods: A biographical method was combined with critical analyses and interpretation of Prof. Mokrzecki’s published works and other texts related to his academic achievements. Results: Based on the inquiry, Prof. Mokrzecki’s childhood and youth were characterized, followed by the period of his professional career. His academic work, including research, teaching and leadership was scrutinized scientifically. Conclusions: Based on the research, it can be concluded that Prof. Mokrzecki was one of the most outstanding scholars of the second half of the 20th and the first decades of the 21st century in Gdańsk. His scientific achievements made a significant contribution to the development of historiography and the history of science, culture and education of the Old Polish period. He was a successful musician – he was an educated cellist. He reached significant achievements in academic leadership – as a long-term Director of the Institute of Pedagogy and Head of the Department of the History of Science, Education and Upbringing at the University of Gdańsk. As a supervisor of over a dozen doctoral dissertations, he facilitated careers of many young faculty members and education leaders. He promoted several hundred master-degree students – sgraduates of pedagogical and music studies. He devotedly served as an animator of the cultural life of the student community.

If the research results serve their purposes, the supporters of specific ideologies make use of them in political actions such as educational reforms. That does not leave too much room for neutrality. The fact is that the debates on education have always been political struggles about who shall specify what should be taught. The two decades of attempts to integrate the public education system with the market brought about sectarian controversies in the USA. The supporters of a democratic school are convinced that its major aim is to shape citizenship as a way of living, while the advocates of a market school think that such aim consists in shaping consumption as a way of living. The latter ones say that they put forward instrumental means to achieve the required and universal targets. The conflict between these camps is normative and philosophical. It focuses on the question who and what shall set up political aims of public education. The key question in this dispute is a question whether the market is a utilitarian and instrumental answer to a clearly specified set of educational problems or whether it is an ideological agenda. The clarification of positive and normative dimensions of market theory and neoliberal ideology will be one of the aims of this paper.

Burnout has serious consequences both for individuals and the organizations they work in. The issue generates interest among psychologist and management professionals and – according to the subject literature – there is a growing demand for helping those professional groups who face the risk of experiencing the negative effects of an exhausting working life. The aim of this paper is to characterize the phenomenon of burnout in Poland in the selected professional groups. The primary research was conducted on June and July 2017 on the group of 153 people working in the following areas: healthcare, education, higher education. Two types of questionnaire were used for the purpose of this research. The first was an LBQ Burnout Questionnaire, which is an adaptation of an Italian Link Burnout Questionnaire. The other questionnaire was originally devised by the authors to assess the perception of the phenomenon among Polish employees. The article presents the results concerning all the methods used during research and compared the results of the LBQ and the original questionnaire.

The Activities of Polish educational authorities are aimed at eliminating special education in Poland, for the development of integrated and inclusive education, following a model of certain European Union countries. Due to the new trends, the demand for special pedagogues in mainstream schools is increasing. Thus, the nature of both mainstream schools and mainstream pre-schools, as well as, special education establishments, is changing. Education of children with various types of development disorders has become a general educational problem. Not only does a narrow group of specialists deal with it, but it has also resulted in a change within the educational culture of Polish schools. In regard to the above, the school’s culture towards the Different, can be either pro-integrated or anti-integrated. A very important role, in the process of shaping a specific school culture, is played by teachers, their motivation to work, their professional preparation and the way they perceive the development of students with disorders.

This aim of this article is to examine several entrepreneurial education innovations (competency-based education as a disruptive innovation model and pedagogy in the HEIs) using a comprehensive systematic literature review (SLR). It is accepted practise to undertake systematic literature reviews when implementing evidence-based policy. This article discusses the ways higher education has evolved in teaching leading to innovative scholarships that unsettle established institutional structures and academic practices. Particularly, within the African context as entrepreneurship is gaining increasing mention as a discipline at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) given the potential employment and GDP contribution benefits. The findings support the conclusion that the move towards this high-quality, personalised approach, the focus is not only on the level of competency achieved by the student but also on validating the learning experience.

In the center of author’s attention there is the problem of forming a modern education system in the knowledge society. Education system should be considered in a context of a systematic method of approach, the essence of which is that relatively independent components are considered not separately, but in their interconnection, in the system with other components. In the center of the author’s attention there is a fundamental problem of the system interaction between modern science and education in the knowledge society. In the modern world, there is a radical difference between science and traditional forms of culture – scientific knowledge plays a significant role in solving technical, industrial, and organization management problems. The majority of people’s fields of activity in the society are becoming rationalized and coordinated. Science and higher education have the same social functions: the manufacture and transfer of knowledge. Knowledge becomes a basis for the organization of the people, a necessary condition of their joint activity. In the increasing degree, it acquires the significance of an integrating factor in social life, substituting traditional forms of people’s association.

Purpose – The aim of the article is to identify the barriers to cooperation between vocational schools and employers. Design/Methodology/Approach – The main data source are the results of two surveys (CAWI): on vocational schools in Lublin, and on employers cooperating with those schools.Findings – The results show the asymmetry of schools’ and enterprises’ objectives, which should be regarded as an important barrier to the development of cooperation between the two. Employers are set on increasing the number of hours of students’ practical vocational training in the workplace, but are reluctant to undertake more costly and more demanding forms of cooperation with schools, like participating in vocational exams, training teachers or providing equipment for school workshops. Meanwhile, schools primarily indicate the need to improve their own resources, especially workshop equipment. They often consider the present state of cooperation with business as satisfactory. Employers’ limited willingness to cooperate stems i.a. from fragmentation of the enterprise sector in Poland, poorly developed cooperative bonds between enterprises, and the small scale of recruitment problems during most of the last two decades.Practical implications – The results allow for the identification of these forms of cooperation between schools and employers, which should be supported by EU structural funds.Value – The research is based on information of high substantive value from the employers who already have experience in cooperation with vocational schools. Results contribute to the formulation of the view on the effects of the reform of vocational education in Poland.

The research aim of this article is to look at human capital from the viewpoint of creating value for a company. In the era of the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0), characterised by ever-increasing technological requirements, there is a demand for highlyqualified employees, including financial controllers, hence the key importance of their education and its scope. Knowledge limited to finance is not sufficient any more for future controllers since they will also have to have some orientation in the technology used by the company as well as its organization. As a result it will be necessary to implement a system of measuring the expenditure and the effects of creating intellectual capital in an enterprise. For these purposes it is possible to make use of the hard tools of controlling, such as budget, balanced chart of results, and the appropriate indicators for assessing this process.

The purpose of the research is to solve the paradox of religion integration in education, by the new balance between religion, philosophy and science, during the post communism transition. In the field of thinking, the process is the transition from ideology to integral thinking. It is realized through the re-evaluation of the topics of the integration of religion, transitology and integral though, education, inclusiveness, solidarity, new laicity and new secularity. In the philosophical sense, integration is the objective process of being developed. This is understood as a return to identity towards a universal being. In the context of the social being, the process realizes the opening and cooperative development of all mental, spiritual-religious, scientific, creative-artistic, economic, cultural, material and non-material political fields. It includes the individual, the community, and all institutions of social life. The path of integration development is the transitive movement in a spiral form. In Albania, with the fall of communism, freedom of religion was legalized according to the standards of European democracy. The rehabilitation of religious figures that had been condemned and persecuted by the totalitarian regime began. The post-communist transition brought profound changes in the field of faith and religion such as the new dimension in the relationship of society with religion, new and unfamiliar attitudes of believers to religion, new relations between the state and religious institutions, new relations between education and religion in public institutions, opening of religious schools and increasing the influence of religion through the media and religious literature. What is considered tolerance in Europe, in the Albanian case is respect. Albanians are the best model for religious tolerance (respect). There has never been a religious clash in Albania for any reason. Respect for the religious affiliation and religious belief of the other in the Albanian case is modeled as the guiding value of their identity and appears in everyday life as the acceptance of the other. For this reason, they are the best model of respect and acceptance of the other, regardless of religious affiliation. This is an ontological value, built over the centuries and continues to this day. Albanians have not converted, but have adapted to a religious belief for economic and survival reasons. Marriages with different religions and keeping two names (Christian and Muslim) are natural phenomena among Albanians. In Albania, there are in the family and tribe people with Christian and Muslim religions individuals with two names, Christian and Muslim: Kristo and Muhamed. Albanians have lived in peaceful symbiosis with the Slavs in the centuries of the latter’s influx into Albanian lands. They have also lived peacefully with other neighbors, Greeks or Romans. This is even though the neighbors have not always been peaceful with the Albanians.

This article is theoretical and empirical in character, presents fragments of authoritative quality versions devoted to issues of teenage motherhood implemented by caregivers. The issues involved are stigmatization and autostigmatization of girls who became mothers before the age of eighteen, and additionally with their children in care and education facilities. Stigmatization practices were presented in the context of the chances and fate of former pastors of care and educational institutions that were mothers of teenage mothers.

Vocational education was one of the most important stages of the educational system in those days, as it is today. In the interwar period vocational education took on a special significance, because with its help efforts were made to pursue specific educational goals aimed at shaping the attitudes that were then in force, defined as civic and patriotic. The analysis presented below shows the educational goals in reference to youth schools (Cracow vocational schools) focused mainly on youth organisations. Among the most important are Polish scouts. A wide organisational movement was developed alongside it, focusing on military and defense issues, touring, tourism, and sport and recreation. The organisational activities carried out within them were aimed at building strictly defined patterns of citizenship and patriotism among the local youth, which could help in defending their own homeland.

When operating in confined waters such as ports, channels and canals, the ship’s master may not be familiar with the specific and up-to-date navigating conditions such as wind, current and tide. In this case, the master must rely on the knowledge and experience of local experts, the seaport and river pilots, to ensure the safety of the ship, crew and environment. This paper provides an overview of the initial and periodic training required by pilots directed by the China Maritime Safety Administration in accordance with IMO’s A.960 “Recommendation on Training and Certification and Operational Procedure Maritime Pilot Other Than Deep-Sea Pilot” and China’s pilot training requirements. The paper then goes into details describing how pilot training is implemented in Dalian Maritime University (DMU), taking into account the course setting, class hour arrangement, theory and practical class distribution of different class pilots, as well as examining the equipment requirements, trainer’s qualification, and trainee’s seagoing experiences. Based on the results of the China’s pilot training regime, recommendations will be made not only for improving China’s pilot training program, but also where DMU’s best practices may be implemented at other institutions engaged in pilot professional development.

Badanie pokazało, że ilość spędzanego czasu przy komputerze ma wpływ na kształtowanie się procesu wychowawczego. Świadomi są tego rodzice i nauczyciele, podejmujący odpowiednie kroki, zgodnie z programem wychowawczo-profilaktycznym szkoły. Choć ilość czasu spędzanego w sieci przez uczniów tej szkoły nie jest zatrważająca, środowisko rodzicielskie i szkolne podejmuje odpowiednie działania mające na celu kontrolę i ograniczenie stosowania Internetu jako środka burzącego równowagę personalistycznego wychowania.
This article discusses how the Internet influences a person’s upbringing. It is based on a study carried out at the Piotr Dunin Catholic Primary School in Chojnice. The study investigated how safely students use the Internet and social media, the potential impact on upbringing and whether the school carries out work aimed at the personal development of students. The study showed that the amount of time spent at the computer does affect the pedagogical process. Parents and teachers are aware of this and they take appropriate steps in harmony with the school’s educational and preventive program. Although the amount of time students from this school spend online is not alarming, the parents and the school take appropriate measures to control and limit the use of the Internet as it is an instrument that disturbs personalistic upbringing.

Aim. This empirical study aims to conceptualise the prevalence of Informal Vocational Training (IVT) in India. It also explores the missing link at accreditation level between IVTs and other formal vocational, technical and professional courses and depicts their implications in the occupational, economic, social and cultural lives of people. Methods. This study was conducted in the Srinagar city of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in India. Both the survey method and the case method were used for collecting the primary data and applying triangulation methodologically. Results. This study reveals that elites generally dominate in the prestigious technical and professional courses because of better accessibility and affordability, and that the vulnerable sections miss many of these opportunities. The vulnerable sections very often get the benefits of IVTs learnt outside the formal system in finding some employment, but such employment attracts lower prestige and income than what they get through formal technical and professional courses. IVTs find no academic recognition in the existing accreditation system, and so people culturally and socially associated with these IVTs continue to remain deprived. Conclusion. There is a need to develop a credit-based link between IVTs and formal vocational, technical and professional courses so that the skills learnt through IVTs could get transferred to the formal system and attract better occupational and economic rewards. The findings are relevant for both developing and developed societies, but more particularly for societies having a considerable presence of informal economy because IVTs exist more within these economies.

The text is a description of the international project THRIECE (Agreement 2017-1-IE01- KA201-025698) realised as Erasmus+ Programme in 2017-2020. Experiences of its participants (teachers and children 3 to 10 years old) were reconstructed. In this article a qualitative analysis of teachers’ utterances was applied and children’s narrations with mosaic approach were used. Classes observations, children’s utterances and their pieces of work were helpful. As a result of the research, an innovative approach was revealed with elements of holistic, relational and inclusive education, which are the three basic pillars of the project. These innovative ideas resulted in examples of new interesting educational practices.

Doświadczenie zawodowe pozwoliło mi ocenić wysoko rzetelność poznawczą i diagnostyczną publikowanych tekstów. Dają one prawdziwy wizerunek placówek oświatowo wychowawczych, ich pracy, problemów z codziennością, godnej uznania pracy organizatorów, instruktorów, wychowawców. Pozwalają ocenić wartość rozwojową tej pracy dla dzieci i młodzieży. Równocześnie znajomość realiów i rzeczywistości pozwala krytycznie osądzić sposób wykorzystania tych wartości diagnostycznych i poznawczych dla usprawnienia i ulepszania warunków w jakich żyje polskie dziecko, doskonalenia pracy szkoły i instytucji opiekuńczo-wychowawczych. Dominującym stylem współistnienia nauki i świata polityki jest sztuczna zasada podziału na problemy podlegające kompetencji świata nauki (opisowe, poznawcze, diagnostyczne...) Oraz druga sfera – to świat zarządzania, decyzji, dystrybucji środków – przynależne do świata polityki i innych organów zarządzających. Są to dwa odrębne światy, których kontakty i wzajemna komunikacja bądź nie istnieje, lub ma wyłącznie instrumentalny charakter. Polityka z osiągnięć nauki, z jej rozpoznania i diagnoz nie korzysta. I tu można doszukiwać się źródeł wielu złych decyzji, nieudanych przedsięwzięć, porażek społecznych i gospodarczych.
The aim of the author was to evaluate the cognitive, descriptive and diagnostic values of the social and educational reality presented in the monthly magazine by state and local government institutions in the practice of managing the country and the life of society. According to my estimates, during the 60 years of their editorial work, “Issues in Childhood Care and Education” has included in its monthly magazine over 5,000 publications of various nature, devoted to all phenomena and problems of education, upbringing, care and development of children and youth, as well as institutions implementing a great program for educating young generation. Professional experience allowed me to highly evaluate the cognitive and diagnostic reliability of the published texts. They provide a real image of educational institutions, their work, problems with everyday life, the remarkable work of organizers, instructors and educators. They allow to assess the development value of this work for children and youth. At the same time, the knowledge of the reality allows for a critical judgement on the way of using these diagnostic and cognitive values to improve the conditions in which a Polish child lives, to improve the work of schools and care and educational institutions. The dominant style of coexistence between science and the world of politics is the artifi cial principle of division into problems falling under the competence of the world of science (descriptive, cognitive, diagnostic...) and the second sphere – the world of management, decisions, distribution of resources – belonging to the world of politics and other governing bodies. These are two separate worlds, the contacts and mutual communication of which either does not exist or is only instrumental in nature. Politics does not use the achievements of science, its recognition and diagnosis. And here you can fi nd the sources of many bad decisions, failed projects, and social and economic failures.

Artykuł nakreśla koncepcję edukacji religijnej w szkołach początkowych i średnich na ziemiach polskich zaboru rosyjskiego na początku XX wieku.      
The aim of the paper is to order data on the Second Congress of School Prefects of the Kingdom of Poland which took place in Warsaw from 21st to 23rd August 1906. It presents the issues of religious education discussed at the congress and related to the upbringing and religious education of children and young people in terms of undertaking educational and formative actions within the framework of catechetical pastoral ministry at school. The paper outlines the concept of religious education in primary and secondary schools in the Polish territories of the Russian partition zone at the beginning of the 20th century.

The aim of this article is to analyze the contexts of teaching in the film „Suicide room”. At the outset they presented examples of the role of film in education. Subsequently was presented story of the film. An essential part of the article states while presenting the meanings of pedagogy we could see in the film. First of all, „Suicide Room” is a film whose story is firmly anchored in the contemporary world entangled in the net, with particular emphasis on two phenomena: cyberbullying and addiction to the virtual world. The film Suicide Room is also an interesting picture of the family. Also in the subjective reception, it is a film about loneliness and lost in the harsh reality of the modern world. This is an interesting picture being a prelude to multi-context discussion of the condition of individuals, families and generations living in the postmodern society.

The article reveals the peculiarities of intercultural paradigmatic shifts in the philosophical and pedagogical thought of Ukraine in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries. It has been proven that Ukrainian philosophical and educational thought (despite the fact that it objectively bordered with the Russian one and actively fits into the pan-European philosophical and pedagogical algorithm) had a number of specific national concrete-cultural features and colours. Its image was closely related to the formation of the “soul of the Ukrainian people”, which was formed by a combination of mental, cultural and moral characteristics. The matrix of paradigmatic shifts in philosophical and pedagogical thought of this period was focused on the semantic, ontological dimensions of human spirituality, pedagogical factors of personality development, the formation of the national discourse of educational science as a certain theoretical integrity. It has been confirmed that the philosophical and pedagogical thought, which unfolded within the framework of socio-political development of scientific and educational institutions and which performed a human-creating function in culture, was characterized by a tendency to create an intercultural “philosophy of teaching and education”, which became the background for pedagogical constructions of our (that?) time. On this basis, the most important constants in the development of education of this period are determined, which have heuristic significance and are in many respects compliant with modern educational transformations, which require comprehensive understanding, primarily from the standpoint of pedagogical anthropology.

Aim: The study is aimed at outlining the functioning of the Cieszyn Research School for Borderland Culture and Education, founded and developed over the last three decades by Professor Tadeusz Lewowicki at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Faculty of Ethnology and Educational Sciences (currently: Faculty of Art and Educational Science). Methods: The School’s activity was described on the basis of the concept of distinguishing and estimating seven factors/phenomena attributed to a scientific school – genealogy, time, place, self-awareness, ideological core, methodological core and writings, styles and worldviews, developed by Zbysław Muszyński. Results: The article synthetically presents the results of team research initiated in 1989 in the Polish-Czech borderland in Cieszyn Silesia. The researchers focused on educational environments (family, school, local communities, churches of various denominations), problems of social and educational policy, socialization and identity formation, teacher’s work in multicultural conditions and social conditions of intercultural education. The result of these undertakings is the series “Edukacja Interkulturowa /Intercultural Education/”, published since 1992, which currently comprises 95 volumes. Conclusions: Over thirty years of theoretical achievements, research results and practical experience of the Cieszyn Research School for Borderland Culture and Education, as well as of other Polish research centers dealing with the issues of multi- and intercultural education, became the basis for developing a synthesis containing the outline of intercultural pedagogy – as a discipline of educational science.

Wstęp. Działania wychowawcze podejmowane w rodzinie wpływają w istotny sposób na dalsze życie i funkcjonowanie dziecka. Rodzice nie muszą sami dźwigać odpowiedzialności za wychowanie dzieci, powinni być wspomagani przez osoby i grupy społeczne, zaangażowane w działania edukacyjne. W przypadku kiedy dziecko przebywa w placówce opiekuńczo-wychowawczej, to wychowawcy pełnią te same role co rodzice biologiczni dziecka. Materiał i metody. Badania dla potrzeb niniejszej publikacji realizowano w Placówkach Opiekuńczo- Wychowawczych na terenie powiatu bialskiego. Celem badań było ustalenie czy placówki opiekuńczo-wychowawcze współpracują z instytucjami edukacyjnymi, tj. szkoła, poradnia psychologiczno- pedagogiczna, terapeuci, logopedzi i inni specjaliści, na czym ta współpraca polega, jakie przybiera formy. Wyniki. Wśród form współpracy wymienia się różnego rodzaju kontakty z nauczycielami, tj.: wywiadówki, kontakt indywidualny, kontakt telefoniczny, mailowy, kontakt przez dziennik elektroniczny. Ponadto dyrektorzy szkół, wychowawcy klasowi i pedagodzy szkolni uczestniczą w posiedzeniach zespołu ds. okresowej oceny sytuacji dziecka, odbywających się na terenie placówki przynajmniej dwa razy w roku. Wnioski. O współpracy pomiędzy placówką opiekuńczo-wychowawczą a placówkami oświatowymi decydują głównie: wiek podopiecznych, zachowanie podopiecznych i problemy przez nich wskazywane oraz usytuowanie placówki przez nich zamieszkiwanej.
Introduction. Child upbringing and parenting activities significantly affect the child’s further existence and functioning. Parents do not have to bear the responsibility for raising children themselves, they should be supported by individuals and social groups involved in educational activities. In the case where the child is in a care and education centre, the educators perform the same roles as biological parents of the child. Material and method. The research for the purposes of this publication was carried out in the Nursing and Education Centres in Bialski district. The purpose of the research was to determine whether the care and educational institutions cooperate with educational institutions, i.e. school, psychological and pedagogical clinic, therapists, speech therapists and other specialists, as well as what kind of co-operation is involved. Results. There are different types of communication with teachers recognised as forms of cooperation, i.e. parent-teacher meetings, individual contact, contact via phone, e-mail, electronic school reports. Moreover, school headmasters, tutors and pedagogues participate in the meetings of the group for the interim assessment of children’s situation held at the care and education institution at least two times a year. Conclusions. The decisive factors for cooperation between a care and education institution and an educational institution include: the age of pupils, their behaviour and the problems they point to as well as the location of the institution where they live.

Any rational, goal-oriented activity should be based on the thought what the simplest way to this goal is. A variety of guidelines, mostly from decision makers showing their expectations, are helpful in attaining these objectives. In school contexts, these guidelines are covered in a curriculum which defines the competencies which should be achieved at a specific stage of education. Nowadays, such a curriculum is a basis for teachers and students to create their own original programmes addressing specific requirements which can be accomplished under specific school conditions. It is important that this basis takes into account the expectations of the environment which creates and implements the process.
Każde racjonalne działanie, zorientowane na cel, powinno być oparte na namyśle, który najprostszą drogą skutecznie doprowadzido tego celu. Pomocne w tych zamierzeniach są różnorodne wytyczne, pochodzące przeważnie z kręgów decyzyjnych, stanowiąceich oczekiwania, jakie efekty powinny zostać osiągnięte. W realiach szkolnych takie wytyczne zawiera podstawa programowa, któraustala zakres kompetencji, jakie edukowany podmiot powinien posiąść, w określonym etapie swojego kształcenia. Współcześnie, podstawa programowa stanowi osnowę do tworzenia przez nauczycieli i uczniów programów autorskich, zawierających treści możliwe do realizacji w określonych warunkach szkolnych. Ważne jest, ażeby owa osnowa uwzględniała oczekiwania środowisk, które ten proces tworzą i realizują.

The love communion between God and men takes on a significant statement in marriage between a man and a woman. However we are nowadays a witness of crisis of the sacramental marriage. The man is frightened to commit for his whole life. He is exposed to a big pressure of consumerism, to a hidden dictatorship of thinking injected through the media as well as to negative examples of famous people from cultural and social life whose live dissolute lives. What was once abnormal is becoming a template of behavior of a modern man. The need of every period, in order to raise healthy future generations, is to have a happy marriage which doesn’t mean without problems because it doesn’t exist. We are talking about marriage where man and woman fulfill their roles of husband and wife, father and mother in love in spite of everything. Therefore in this post I would like to dig in deeper into the essence of marriage commitments which are the best program and path to a happy marriage.

Economic and political changes in Europe, particularly in the last decade have led to an increase in the cultural diversity of its citizens. Latvia, which received a troubling legacy from the former Soviet Union – a diverse ethnic mix, also found itself EU. In 1989, after nearly fifty years of Soviet domination it regained its independence and stood on the way of reform and transition from a totalitarian to an independent style of governance. Among the many problems that appeared in front of this small country in 2004, there were also those that are lively debated in contemporary Europe. Some of them are laws for immigrants and minority rights. Analysis of past and present situation in Latvia seem to be particularly important to the events which have recently been seen in Ukraine which is an another country of the past Soviet Union – and after 1990 also the Russian – sphere of influence. Article deals with the integration process, with Latvian law regulating issues of citizenship, minority rights and the status of the state language as conforming to international standards. It also deals with the education of national minorities in Latvia. Bilingual education proposed to the minorities has goal to integrate the Latvian society as a whole, to build a multicultural state based on unity. Bilingual education also enables the acquisition of language skills allowing the free movement on the labor market. This ensures both the protection of ethnic and religious identity by providing the understanding of the language and culture of the country of residence. Problems of this young state are still waiting for a solution by the future government in Latvia. This small Baltic country, for ten years, is integrating multinational community of its own country into the tissue of Western Europe to which it was a stranger till the year 2004.

The paper finds that in view of the current momentous societal changes and educational expansion in the world, there is a compelling case for the field of comparative education to be transformed into comparative and international education, furthermore, that to equip teachers for their role as professionals in this world a place for comparative and international education in teacher education programmes is essential; and thirdly, that due recognition should be given to the place of Comenius as a trailblazer in providing the rationale for the field of comparative and international education.

The article begins with a review and analysis of the literature on Character and Citizenship Education in Singapore in grades 1-2, with particular reference to values in education. The understanding of values in terms of Marwin Berkowitz, Fritz Oser and Wiel Veugelers is the theoretical basis of the article. The analysis of curriculum began with a review of the literature on values in education. The next stage was to analyse the curriculum along with its Core Values (Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Integrity, Care and Harmony), embodied in the five domains, its three Big Ideas (Identity, Relationship, Choices) and its guiding principles in grades 1-2. Education here comes across as an interaction between various sets of teachers’ values and the ongoing construction of students’ values. The key part of the study is to analyse the Singaporean Character and Citizenship Education, principally its parts which involve the Core Values. Key Understandings and Key Questions make it possible for students to become involved in the variance of values in a constructive and critical manner. Documents concerning the subject of the analysis were studied by means of a problem method, which is based on an educational phenomenon examining various consistent factors related to time and society.

In 2018 Student Services Employee Association (Stowarzyszenie Forum Dzieka na-tów) was established. One of its aims is to get involved in a dialogue with organisations and institutions dealing with higher education, in particular with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as the relevant public authority. In this regard the Association proposed three amendments to the Act of Higher Education and Science in terms of administrative procedure, in particular: notice on initiation of procedure, simplified procedure and silent settlement of case, which were sub-mitted to the Ministry. As a bottomup initiative of student services employees at HEIs, it enables them to get involved in consulting acts on higher education and proposing amendments to these regulations. This role of the Association is significant due to the fact that in many HEIs student services employees have no ability to provide feedback on the regulations that they are executing.

W artykule przedstawiono odniesienia do europejskich, czy światowych doświadczeń w obrębie pedagogiki nowego wychowania. Czyniono to najczęściej za pośrednictwem czasopism naukowych lub popularnonaukowych. Do jednego z nich należał „Ruch Pedagogiczny” redagowany przez Henryka Rowida, autora koncepcji szkoły pracy. Na jego łamach prezentowano aktualne poglądy takich pedagogów, jak: J. Deweya, G. Kerschensteinera, H. Parkhurst, Owidiusza J. Decroly᾽ego, Rudolfa Steinera i innych. Poprzez „Ruch Pedagogiczny” starano się zachęcać całe środowisko nauczycielskie do odejścia od tradycyjnych metod nauczania i wychowania (mających swoje oparcie w dziewiętnastowiecznym herbartyzmie) na rzecz nowatorstwa pedagogicznego.
The article presents references to European and world experiences in the field of pedagogy “New Education”, which were most often presented through scientific or popular science journals. One of them was the “Ruch Pedagogiczny” (The Pedagogical Movement), edited by Henryk Rowid, the author of the concept of the “school of work”. In this journal were published articles presenting pedagogical views of such educators as John Dewey, Georg Kerschensteiner, Helen Parkhurst, Ovide J. Declory, Rudolf Steiner and others. The articles published in “The Pedagogical Movement” were aimed at encouraging teachers to abandon traditional teaching and education methods (based on the assumptions of Herbart’s 19th century pedagogy) and to choose innovative pedagogical solutions.

Opis:
Caring for children deprived of parental care is one of the oldest responsibilities of the community towards their weakest representatives. Over the ages it was the abandoned and orphaned children who were first placed in the aid. For the centuries its forms were also developed and improved. Supposedly the oldest of them had the character of  spontaneous individual or social initiatives, yet unorganized, often occasional, caused by human empathy or heart reflexes, sometimes bearing a mark of  biological rescue. Above all, it concerns alimentation and shelter. Further forms were associated with charitable activity of the Catholic Church and other organizations, most often of religious nature, that took over the responsibility for the most needy. It seemed common to them to understand care as a social activity of charitable and self-help nature. Help for children was mostly linked to philanthropic or educational activities. However, the fundamentals of properly understood systemic care over the youngest in Poland can only be traced after the First World War. The following article  is an exemplification of the activities of the oldest organizations and institutions in Piotrków Trybunalski, a city of  rich philanthropic tradition, directed to its youngest inhabitants. It is also an attestation to the words of Henryk Sienkiewicz said   about  Polska Macierz Szkolna in a year 1905 that "the sacrifice of the Polish society is simply inexhaustible. Many can be imputed to our national character and we are aware of our faults and shortcomings but when it comes to sacrificing a penny for public affairs few nations surpass us and even foreigners do justice to us in this respect". One may think these words have not lost their relevance today.
Troska o dzieci pozbawione opieki rodzicielskiej jest jednym z najstarszych obowiązków społeczności wobec swych najsłabszych przedstawicieli. Na przestrzeni wieków to do dzieci opuszczonych i sierocych w pierwszej kolejności kierowano działania pomocowe. Od wieków również rozwijano i doskonalono formy niesionej pomocy. Bodaj najstarsze z nich miały charakter samorzutnych inicjatyw indywidualnych bądź społecznych, jeszcze niezorganizowanych, często okazjonalnych, powodowanych ludzką empatią, niekiedy noszących znamiona biologicznego ratownictwa. Mowa tu przede wszystkim o akcjach dożywiania lub zapewnienia schronienia. Kolejne formy były związane z dobroczynną działalnością Kościoła katolickiego oraz innych organizacji najczęściej o charakterze wyznaniowym, które przejęły odpowiedzialność za najbardziej potrzebujących. Wspólne dla nich zdawało się rozumienie opieki jako aktywności społecznej o charakterze dobroczynnym i samopomocowym. Pomoc dzieciom przeważnie łączono z działalnością filantropijną bądź oświatowo-wychowawczą. Jednakże podwalin właściwie pojmowanej opieki systemowej nad najmłodszymi w Polsce możemy odnaleźć dopiero po I wojnie światowej. Niniejszy artykuł jest egzemplifikacją działalności istniejących w Piotrkowie Trybunalskim – mieście o bogatej tradycji filantropijnej – najstarszych organizacji i instytucji kierujących swą pomoc do najmłodszych mieszkańców. Jest zarazem poświadczaniem słów Henryka Sienkiewicza wypowiedzianych w sprawie Macierzy Szkolnej z 1905 roku, że „[…] ofiarność polskiego społeczeństwa jest wprost niewyczerpana. Wielu przyganom może podlegać nasz narodowy charakter i sami zdajemy sobie sprawę z naszych wad i braków, gdy chodzi jednak o poświęcenie grosza dla sprawy publicznej, mało narodów nas przewyższa, a i nawet cudzoziemcy oddają nam pod tym względem sprawiedliwość”. Można sądzić, że współcześnie słowa te nie straciły aktualności.

In the presented work, an attempt is made to specify the theory-cognitive significance of J. Reykowski’s concept of multidimensional moral development for intercultural studies. This proposal seems to be particularly useful in pedagogical analyses dealing with moral reasoning of children. The presented research results and their interpretation confirm the presence of intercultural differentiation in the development of evaluation standards of learners in late childhood. Therefore, this concept may have broader application in intercultural studies in education.

Social media is a Web 2.0 platform that allows to share content and information without the limitations of time and space. Social media networks have managed to become a part of today's lifestyle and are increasingly gaining importance when viewed from a state perspective. Sentiment analysis refers to the use of natural language processing, text analysis and computational linguistics to identify and extract subjective information in source materials. In this study, we focus on social media mining and sentiment analysis for students of an open and distance education system. Anadolu University which has approximately two million students and more than two million graduates, is a well-known institution in Turkey, that offers higher education through contemporary distance education model. Firstly, we have fetched Tweets related to Anadolu University open and distance education system. To perform sentiment analysis, these tweets were analysed by statistical and data mining techniques. Finally, results were visualized.

SummaryAfer the November Uprising of 1830 the Russian authorities closed down Wilno (now Vilnius) University. In 1832 the historian and lawyer Józef Jaroszewicz proposed a plan to found a law and administration college in lieu of Wilno University and drew up a curriculum for the new college.
Po powstaniu listopadowym władze rosyjskie zlikwidowały Uniwersytet Wileński. Znany historyk i prawnik, Józef Jaroszewicz, przedstawił w 1832 roku projekt powołania w miejsce Uniwersytetu wyższej szkoły prawa i administracji oraz zarysował obowiązujący w niej program nauczania.

The article presents a summary of the research about peer relationships among the young with intellectual disability in special education classes. The studies took into consideration a) the types of the relationships and their qualitative characteristics, b) factors determining the type of the relationship, c) an individual perspective of a young disabled person in the group of mentally disabled peers.71 pupils with moderate and severe intellectual disability in 15 special education classes were observed in natural school situations. The results show a great need and abilities to participate in peer relationships by intellectually disabled teenagers. The second part of the study was based on the qualitative research procedure and revealed different subjective meaning of participation of 7 young intellectually disabled students in the school peer group. Findings of the study gave practical indications for arranging special classes of pupils with moderate and severe intellectual disability. Results was discussed with current tendency to inclusive education people with disability.

Opis:
Mobile mini-robots are commonly used for research, education and popularization of science. Often, commercially available mini-robots don't quite fit the characteristics needed for a particular task, and are difficult to adapt since they have proprietary software and hardware. Moreover, they are often quite expensive. In this work we present a relatively low-cost, reconfigurable robot equipped with a wide variety of sensors and enough processing power to allow the on-board execution of intelligent algorithms. We present the complete hardware architecture, and a modularized software architecture that makes full use of hardware interruptions and software processes to have a perfectly timed control of the robot. All these characteristics make the new mobile mini robot ExaBot a very malleable, multi task mini-robot.

This article analyzes the main directions of the organizational activity held by the Union for the Liberation of Ukraine (ULU) in the camp for prisoners of war from Russian army in Rastatt, Germany since May 1915 until 1917. Representatives of ULU in Rastatt founded schools of literacy and various educational courses, opened camp library and people’s theater, and equipped the church. Besides, the camp saw the creation of several Ukrainian circles and organizations whose members actively participated in the development of national life in Rastatt. Organization and management of the entire cultural and educational work in the camp was handled by the Department of Education of ULU. Members of this department were both civilians and captured Ukrainian officers whose assignment to Rastatt was agreed by the German military authorities. Á e Department of Education saw high personnel turnover as some of its members were assigned to other camps, while being replaced by new employees. During the first stages of the camp’s Ukrainization, the popularity of Russian chauvinist ideas among many Ukrainian POWs made it much more difficult to engage in the promotion of national and patriotic ideas, as well as in cultural and educational work. A lot of POWs were afraid of cruel repressions of the Russian government and the emperor for their participation in Ukrainian work. However, eventually the majority of POWs managed to get rid of these fears and created community „Independent Ukraine” whose leadership grew to lead all directions of Ukrainians’ life and activity in the camp. Due to the activity of the Union for the Liberation of Ukraine, the camp prepared numerous nationally conscious Ukrainians who actively participated in diÄ erent military groups which fought against Russian Bolshevism in 1918-1920.

The authors conducted a survey among graduates of Master’s courses in Teacher Education in Biology to determine their opinions on the importance of biology and environmental education didactics during their pre-graduate studies. Results of the survey indicated some existing deficiencies in pre-graduate teaching of biology and environmental education didactics and raised suggestions for innovation. The survey of 119 respondents was conducted in 2009. Most respondents considered the benefit of their pre-graduate Teacher Education in Biology degree sufficient for their own knowledge in biology, while considering the benefit of a pre-graduate course for their own pedagogic and didactic competencies a small one. The survey proved that most graduates of Teacher Education in Biology studies ranked the subject of biology didactics among the key modules of their pre-graduate degree course and identified several strengths and weaknesses in the teaching of biology didactics. The respondents who were professionally involved in Environmental Education viewed the absence of special didactics of environmental education and limited time allocation for teaching practice as shortcomings of their pregraduate course structure. Based on this research, two educational projects were designed, allowing for the implementation of innovated didactics of biology and environmental education together with specialized teaching practice for biology teacher education students in collaboration with several Czech universities and participating foreign lecturers.

Subject and purpose of work: Explanation of the necessity of tight educational integration at the secondary and third degree level as the basis of positive continuation of the process of education which supports creation of innovative economy. The subject of analysis are the forms of realization of educational activity and protective mechanisms directed at elaborating qualified specialists for innovative economy. Materials and methods: The basis for analysis will be formed by standards and legal documents referring to the reforms of education process in Russia as well as statistical data. Data concerning the level of obtained knowledge by students, contents of various educational programmes and projects devoted to mutual relations of education and business in Russia’s economy were also used. Results: Key directions of transformation of educational activity from the perspective of the needs of Russian economy were presented. Innovative examples of approach securing efficiency of educational process were indicated. Conclusion: Research indicated the necessity of an integrated secondary and third level of education through defining competencies so that the scope of secondary school was directed mainly at cognitive actions and their further development which might be supplemented by further stages of educating.
Przedmiot i cel pracy: Uzasadnienie konieczności ścisłej integracji edukacji na poziomie średnim oraz wyższym jako podstawy pozytywnej kontynuacji procesu kształcenia, który wspomaga stworzenie innowacyjnej gospodarki. Przedmiotem analizy są formy realizacji działalności edukacyjnej i mechanizmy chroniące nakierowane na przygotowanie wykwalifikowanych specjalistów dla innowacyjnej gospodarki. Materiały i metody: Podstawę analizy stanowią standardy i dokumenty prawne odnoszące się do reform procesu kształcenia w Rosji oraz dane statystyczne. Wykorzystano także dane dotyczące poziomu uzyskiwanej wiedzy przez studentów, treści różnych programów edukacyjnych oraz projekty poświęcone wzajemnym relacjom kształcenia i biznesu w gospodarce Rosji. Wyniki: Przedstawiono główne kierunki transformacji działalności edukacyjnej z punktu widzenia potrzeb gospodarki rosyjskiej. Wskazano na innowacyjne przykłady podejścia zabezpieczające skuteczność procesu edukacyjnego. Wnioski: Badania wykazały konieczność zintegrowania średniego i wyższego poziomu kształcenia poprzez określenie kompetencji tak, aby zakres szkoły średniej był skierowany głównie na działania poznawcze oraz ich dalszy rozwój, który może być uzupełniony przez kolejne etapy kształcenia.

The author of the paper shows how one may reflect on the essence of human rights, through the lens of reporters’ stories, including in particular Ben Rawlence’s book City of Thorns: Nine Lives in the World’s Largest Refugee Camp. The paper encourages one to listen to the voice of refugees and to develop an in-terest in their lives in order to understand how they define their rights, what they derive them from, and how they judge their observance by the interna-tional community. In fact, these deliberations are connected with a problem which is important for contemporary education, namely how to shape a genu-inely humanistic attitude among young Poles towards people from different cultures, who are additionally forced to leave their homes.

The application of computer-based technologies in academic education has at least three decades of history and experience. In some study fields, it has been present since the very beginning, while in others it has become a necessity only in recent years. The ongoing technological revolution is disrupting the traditional professions with fundamental changes and – in some cases – even with the threat of disappearance of jobs. The finance and accounting professions are expected to undergo a technological change in the near future. While the changes are visible at the corporate level, university education seems to lag one step behind. We conducted a study among the students and graduates of the finance and accounting line of studies at the Cracow University of Economics. Using regression analysis, we investigate the perception of the usefulness of courses providing knowledge on new technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI). We use a unique Polish setting, which is a leader in terms of outsourcing services. Our findings show that both students and graduates are aware of the importance of technological change. The courses teaching basic subjects are essential, but the current expectations are much higher in terms of the application of new technology based on AI in finance and accounting.

The article is focused on the Czech university students’ attitudes to integrated science at elementary school and biology at secondary school and their experiences with inquiry-based scientific education (IBSE) of these subjects. Results show students’ opinions about teaching methods in nature science education and the direction in which it would be beneficial to aim he future teaching and learning process in Czech educational environment. Our results show that the main reason for integrated science or biology to gain popularity is teacher personality, implementation of field work and usefulness of gained knowledge in everyday life. Respondents’ answers revealed that the new educational methods, e.g. IBSE, could have a positive effect on students’ approach to natural science subjects.

Background. The paper deals with the possibilities for implementation of professional competences of physical therapists working in different systems of education and health protection with regard to the holistic health concept, psychophysical education and interdisciplinary collaboration inside rehabilitation teams. Objectives. The main objective of the study was to compare the possibilities for implementation of professional competences of physical therapists working in rehabilitation teams of education and health protection systems. Material and methods. The survey encompassed 200 physical therapists working in the education (n = 98) and health protection (n = 102) systems of Lithuania. A questionnaire-based method employing closed-type questions was used, which was aimed at revealing whether implementation of professional competences of physical therapists working in different systems differed. Results. The competences of communication and collaboration, i.e. interdisciplinary activities inside rehabilitation teams, were more developed by physical therapists working in the education system (t = 23.483, df = 2, p = 0.001). In the process of physical diagnosis, physical therapists of the health system make a diagnosis of physical therapy independently. The same statistically significant difference was also noticed in the aspect of communication of groups of these specialists when psychosocial problems occur, specifically: t = 14.768, df = 3, p = 0.002. Physical therapists of the education system more actively participate in qualification development, delivery of talks at conferences and organising health promotion programmes, even though no statistically significant difference was found (t = 4.830, df = 3, p = 0.185). Conclusions. The competences of interdisciplinary collaboration are more developed by physical therapists working in the education system; whereas physical therapists working in the health system are more concerned with the making of a physical therapy diagnosis, design of a programme and application of more diverse methods

The purpose of the study was to gauge the flow of information from university lecturers to students. The fundamental hypothetical basis used for the study was that of agenda-setting theory – the idea that the mass media have a strong influence on the public agenda. The role of the university lecturer as a source of information and the influence of that information upon students and their agenda was the object of the study. The empirical study featured a panel of 248 Spanish university students and the results highlight the importance of the role of the university lecturer in channelling information to students even though findings demonstrate that the issues which are important for students (their agenda) may be less relevant for lecturers.

Opis:
Current need of the social integration of people with a handicap, either physical, social, or other, finds significant professional response in a field of pre-school and elementary education. In the accordance with the request of holistic child's personality development (harmonious integration of its cognitive, social-emotional, and perceptual-motoric areas) the education by art seems to be helpful and effective in removing barriers and deepening child's skills to understand and respect the otherness and also as one of the effective ways leading to the social acceptation and inclusion of people with some kind of a handicap. Paper deals with the possibilities of educational use of illustrated books for children and youth, which thematize one of the handicap types – visual impairment. It roots from the assumption of high effectivity of the experiential methods (“through personal experience to understanding”) and examines inclusive thinking formation options and attitudes of intact pupils through experiential activities, which use illustrated books thematizing blindness. Solution of the issue comes from the analysis and comparison of the poethological aspects of artistic expression of such handicap in concrete book titles. There are compared artistic-expressive and receptive specifics of various illustrative approaches, particularly their aesthetic-experiential potential – extent of possible sensor, emotional, and cognitive experiences, which offer various modalities of the illustrative rendering of visual impairment to the child's recipient. The same attention is given to their ethical and axiological reflection. In the context of these findings, there are defined paradigmatic differences between the books illustrated in traditional ways and artistically experimental books. Following this, there are outlined alternative models of the didactical application of the issue.

Comparative research conducted in European countries in the last ten years has had a special focus on the processes of marketisation in education and on building relationships between the school and the labour market. This area also arouses the interest of education politicians by setting the direction of educational reforms. The nature of the connections between and the process of transition from school to the labour market is the subject of many comparative studies in the German-language literature (See Baethge, Solga&Wieck, 2007). On the example of Germany - a federal country with sixteen different education systems (Nowosad, 2013, p. 89) - learning solutions focused on strengthening cooperation between the school and the labour market creates the opportunity to show the multifaceted nature of this phenomenon. An analysis of German experiences may result in the adaptation of foreign pedagogical achievements on the ground of native activities, and the results obtained can be an impulse to remove barriers and irregularities in the functioning of analyzed reality.

Opis:
The primary purpose of this study was to determine the image of women in the books of national and civic education of basic education in Jordan. To achieve the purpose of the study, content analysis was utilized. Results of the study indicated that the woman’s image in these books is traditional and atypical because of her low and weak participation in public jobs, restricted participation in traditional jobs, restriction of her roles in the home, limited positive characterization of her roles, and her appearance as a follower and helper to men. Finally, the significance of this study lies in its contribution to educational reforms related to woman image and textbooks.

This article deals with the issue of incorporating security issues into framework educational programmes in the Czech Republic. Inter-ministerial discussions between the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Transport pay marginal attention to the views of the instigators of changes themselves, teachers in practice. The article presents data from a research survey conducted among primary and secondary school teachers who are actively involved in teaching security topics in practice with security issues as part of their qualifications.

The contribution is presenting the results of research realized with a sample of 744 respondents from the Banska Bystrica region. It is possible to deduce from the obtained answers that cigarette smoking – even despite anti-smoking education – is still attractive and popular. This is proved for example by 38% of pupils aged 10–11 who have already tried smoking as well as 25% of pupils who repeatedly smoked. Out of the whole sample of respondents, up to 65% of them tried smoking and 56.5% smoked again. Concurrently with the raising age of pupils there increases also the number of those who repeated smoking, so that in the category of 17–18 years of age it reaches as many as 71.5%. The numbers of pupils smoking on a daily basis are alarming (13–14 years of age 69.8%, 17–18 years of age 63%), and they are higher than those reported by other authors. The most frequent reason for first cigarette smoking was curiosity, around 75%. Pupils in most cases judge that sports can be a proper tool against smoking. Only 15.4% of them answered negatively. A relatively low percentage of respondents think that a sportsman must not smoke (55.6%); we assumed that there would be a larger number of them.

Motivation and mental skills have an important place in learning and performance. The objective of this work is to study the relationship between different forms of motivation and mental skills in physical education and sport. 202 high school students including 100 boys (mean age = 17.2 ± 1.2 years) and 102 girls (mean age = 16.4 ± 1.3 years) participated in this study. In order to assess mental skills, we used the Ottawa Mental Skills Assessment Tool-3 test; and to assess different forms of motivation, we used the Scale of Motivation in Sports-28. The principal component analysis identified three components that represent 53% of total inertia. We named these components: intrinsic commitment, cognitive-emotional control and extrinsic commitment. At the end of this study, there is a strong relationship between different forms of motivation and mental skills in physical education and sport. There is a strong relationship between mental skills and different forms of motivation. These are strongly linked neuropsychological processes. More precisely, developing students' mental skills is developing their motivation. Therefore, the pedagogical interventions of teachers of physical and sports education must encourage the development of these neuropsychological skills, through a more suitable content that affects both the motor, cognitive and emotional aspects of the student. In perspective, there is a need to develop a test that assesses both mental skills and forms of motivation, the components of which will be intrinsic commitment, cognitive-emotional control and extrinsic commitment.

Celem niniejszego artykułu, który ma charakter teoretyczno-empiryczny, było przedstawienie rodziny (wielkomiejskiej/dużego miasta) jako rudymentarnego środowiska życia, rozwoju oraz socjalizacji i wychowania dzieci, kształtującego jakość ich dzieciństwa. Rodzina wielkomiejska poprzez swoją specyfikę (fakt zamieszkiwania w dużym mieście, jego charakterystyka) wydaje się stwarzać dzieciom korzystne dla ich dzieciństwa warunki rozwojowo-wychowawcze. Zostały one w artykule nazwane i scharakteryzowane. Wyniki badań empirycznych stanowią omówienie warunków edukacyjnych, jakie stwarza dzieciom środowisko rodzinne (troska rodziców o edukację szkolną i pozaszkolną dziecka). Podjęta także została próba typologizacji dzieciństwa w badanych rodzinach.
In its theoretical and empirical approach, the article discusses a (big city) family as a living environment providing conditions for development, socialisation and education of children which determine the quality of their childhood. A big-city family, through its particular characteristics, seems to create favourable conditions for development and education of children. They are identified and described in the article. The results of empirical research refer to educational conditions created by families (parental involvement in both in-school and after-school education). The article attempts to provide typology of childhood in the examined families.

The article attempts to determine basic organizational and legal changes concerning the functioning of educational care centres, which allows to show the main directions of deinstitutionalization of the system of foster care in Poland. New solutions, introduced in 2012, demonstrate a distinct paradigm shift of the pro-family policy in this area: preference for the work with the natural family in order to eliminate the dysfunction before the need for foster care emerges. It poins to the latest perspective on the care of orphaned children – moving away from institutional care towards family forms of foster care.
W artykule została podjęta próba określenia podstawowych zmian organizacyjnych i prawnych dotyczących funkcjonowania placówek opiekuńczo-wychowawczych, co pozwoliło na wskazanie głównych kierunków deinstytucjonalizacji systemu pieczy zastępczej nad dzieckiem w Polsce. Nowe rozwiązania wprowadzone od 2012 roku ukazują wyraźną zmianę paradygmatu polityki prorodzinnej w tym obszarze: prymat pracy z rodziną naturalną w celu wyeliminowania dysfunkcji – przed opieką zastępczą. Wskazuje to na nową perspektywę w opiece nad osieroconymi dziećmi – odchodzenie od instytucjonalnych na rzecz rodzinnych form pieczy zastępczej.

The content of the presented paper consists a short reconstruction of the genesis and beginning of educational process in spatial management at the A. Mickiewicz University in Poznań. It is kind of personal reflection on this initial period, made by a person taking part in this project from the beginning until now. Both reconstruction and reflection have, of course, subjective character and have been made from the perspective of 25 years of asctivity. Particular attention is devoted to the origins of education, the struggle for recognition of spatial management, as a direction of study, the supplementation of the education profile and “values added” carried out activity.

Central ethical concepts in education should be interpreted in a global frame, beyond the conceptual confines of the nation state. My underlying claim is that globalisation’s effects and significance are profound, but that while new global practices, norms and structures are increasingly evident, developing our key ethical concepts and assumptions accordingly is limited by the narrow and outdated moral universe of the nation state. The intertwined demands of justice and democracy in education now require conceptual adjustment to meet a different world. First, the features and significance of globalisation are considered, with particular reference to globalisation in education, as well as political globalisation as indicative of the now outdated model of the Westphalian state. Secondly, a revised conception of justice based on recognition of global association is sketched and illustrated by the case of the global campaign for Education for All. Thirdly, possibilities for globally democratic decision-making after the monopoly of the nation state are outlined, advancing the discussion towards some concluding observations about the implications of the argument for the education of global citizens.

Dual study possibilities in selected EU countries. The idea of dual study courses is more and more common in the EU due to the raising problem of the lack of qualified employees. Although the dual studies are very similar in their form such as internships in companies, case studies etc., their scope differs significantly among the analyzed countries. It was observed that, on average, about 70% of students take part in the vocational education and training in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, Netherlands, Slovakia and Slovenia but only 20% in Cyprus and Hungary. In countries such as: Germany, Netherlands and Austria over 40% of companies employ vocational education and training participants while the average costs of continuing vocational training for the EU-28 is calculated at the level of around 1500 Purchasing Power Standard per participant. The research was based on the data obtained from the EUROSTAT.
Możliwości studiów dualnych w wybranych krajach UE. Idea studiów dualnych staje się obecnie coraz bardziej popularna przede wszystkim ze względu na problem braku wykwalifikowanych pracowników. Studia dualne są bardzo podobne w swojej formie, uwzględniającej m.in. praktyki w przedsiębiorstwach, studia przypadków itp., jednak ich zakres różni się znacznie w analizowanych krajach. Przeprowadzona analiza wykazała, że średnio około 70% uczniów bierze udział w kształceniu i szkoleniu zawodowym w Austrii, Chorwacji, Czechach, Finlandii, Holandii, Słowacji i Słowenii, ale tylko 20% na Cyprze i Węgrzech. W krajach takich jak: Niemcy, Holandia i Austria ponad 40% firm zatrudnia uczestników kształcenia i szkolenia zawodowego, podczas gdy średnie koszty ustawicznego szkolenia zawodowego dla krajów UE-28 kształtują się na poziomie około 1500 PPS na uczestnika. Analizę przeprowadzono na danych uzyskanych z bazy EUROSTAT.

Cyberspace as well as virtual worlds are a new environment created by state-of-the-art digital media and information and communication technologies. Also, for the first time in world history and human evolution, they enrich the real-world public sphere on an extraordinary scale and at an amazing speed, and at the same time dramatically change the functioning of all people, especially the young generation. Without any doubt, this new space presents many challenges as well. The paper analyzes the following issues: 1. Cyberspace versus childhood care and education. 2. Waves of social and information development and transformations in education and communication. 3. Teenagers’ activities on the Web. 4. Theoretical concepts of the subject being analyzed. 5. New developmental opportunities and trends in education. 6. Attempt to classify new cyberspace threats.

W artykule przeanalizowano 2947 projektów z obszaru nauki i edukacji realizowanych przy udziale funduszy strukturalnych w Polsce, w latach 2004–2006. Podsumowano inwestycje współfinansowane z Europejskiego Funduszu Rozwoju Regionalnego, Europejskiego Funduszu Społecznego i Europejskiego Funduszu Orientacji i Gwarancji Rolnej. Zweryfikowano dane dotyczące 2947 projektów w podziale na poszczególne województwa. Dzięki temu wyodrębniono regionalnych liderów pod względem liczby złożonych projektów i pozyskanych środków finansowych w latach 2004–2006. Określono kwotę dotacji z UE do projektów z obszaru nauki i edukacji w Polsce per capita. Dane te skonfrontowano z wybranymi wskaźnikami rozwoju kapitału ludzkiego w latach 2003, 2006, 2009 i 2012 w celu oceny wpływu funduszy europejskich w obszarze nauki i edukacji na poziom kapitału ludzkiego w Polsce.
The article presents the analysis of 2,947 projects in the area of science and education co-financed by the Structural Funds in Poland in 2004–2006. It summarizes the investments co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the European Social Fund and the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund. Data on 2,947 projects, with their regional division, have been verified. Thanks to this regional leaders have been distinguished in terms of the number of projects and raised funds in 2004–2006. Most importantly, the amount of the subsidy from the EU to projects in the area of science and education in Poland in the years 2004–2006 has been estimated per capita of individual region. These data were compared with the selected human capital development indicators in 2003, 2006, 2009 and 2012 to assess the impact of European funding in the field of science and education on human capital in Poland.

The purpose of the study was to identify musculoskeletal system changes in adolescent extraleague ice hockey players. The 4-week physical program was realized within lessons of physical and sport education. Methods: The monitored group consisted of 11 adolescent sports grammar school students in Nitra, Slovakia (aged: 17.27±0.5; body height: 175.96±1.2 cm and body weight: 77.23±3.5 kg) who were the extraleague hockey players of HK Nitra. To monitor their musculoskeletal system, we used standardized methods for physical and medical practice, such as Klein and Thomas modified by Mayer. Results: The students' physical and sport education programs had positive changes on their musculoskeletal system, both in the muscle system (Wtest=p<0.05) and in the area of posture Wtest= p<0.05). While comparing the level of the students' posture as the external manifestation of the functional muscle system, we stated that the difference, the improvement between the input (12.4) and the output (7.9) testing was significant with the value of p = 0.03 (Wtest=p<0.05). This article aims to examine and make recommendations to the initial assessment procedures in Adult Education context in the United Kingdom. Teachers and learners are constantly making opinions about their development, and formative assessment is one of the tools used to recognise it. In Adult Education, in addition to formative assessment, learners are expected to undergo initial assessment, testing their level of knowledge/abilities in Language, Literacy or Numeracy. Within the Adult Education context, there are several initial assessment methods available. However, it is the providers who decide which methods are most appropriate for their learners, as different methods may be appropriate in different areas. This research project focuses on an Adult Education provider based in the Midlands, United Kingdom, and offers findings that test and sometimes refute the current theory about initial assessment. Two research methods were employed to achieve the aim and objectives. Firstly, secondary data was researched. Secondly, the qualitative primary data was collected using in-depth focus groups. The research included both practitioners and learners who either conducted or experienced needs analysis processes in the adult learning context. The findings and recommendations of this article propose the use of a more ethical and reliable way of conducting initial assessment in the Adult and Community Learning context.

The article presents a pilot study of the tasks of support teachers in relation to students with autism, including those with Asperger’s syndrome. Data contained in the Educational Information System shows a significant increase in the number of students with this type of disorder studying in integrated units and mainstream schools. The education of students with autism and Asperger’s syndrome is difficult due to their deficits in the cognitive sphere, as well as problems in social and emotional functioning. When carried out in an appropriate manner, with relevant professionalsupport, the inclusion of autistic children may be beneficial both for the children’s intellectual, social and emotional development, as well as other students.

The study is a presentation - in an essayistic and exemplary approach - of the meandering history of multiculturalism and multinationalism in Poland. This history until 1918 is described in two dimensions - firstly, a rather peculiar and in fact harmful multiculturalism of rulers’ world (mostly foreign election kings and later aggressors) and, secondly, the developing, increasingly richer and introducing important values, multiculturalism of people. This is followed by an outline of the changes after 1918 (mostly the crisis of the multinational state), as well as after 1945 and 1989 - the birth of a national state in two different political systems. The recent years are the times of drifting apart from a pro-European (open to multiculturalism) state in favour of a state and a substantial part of the society which is increasingly less democratic and contests European and global problems. This constitutes the background for the discussed issues of multicultural education. What has been also considered is the (developed in Poland) concept and practice of intercultural education. Intercultural education seems to enhance in the best way the familiarization with and understanding of Others and, in consequence, the shaping of positive relations among people.

The family is considered the closest environment for people, a natural habitat of the proper development and education of the child. The family performs a lot of functions, including: care, education, socialization, fulfilling the economic and emotional needs and many other. The proper education and care functions consist in organisation of the free time, teaching self-care, fulfilling psychical and social needs of the family members. Nowadays, many families are experiencing an emotional crisis, intergenerational relationships are disturbed, which in turn leads to educational difficulties. The family not always can perform its functions. Social assistance under the Act on family support and foster care system to support families experiencing care and education difficulties, offers many forms of help for these families. However, they are not always enough. The aim of the article is to present other family-supporting programs implemented by GOPS in Lubicz.

Artykuł porusza problem twórczości i rozwoju kreatywności dzieci i młodzieży poprzez arteterapię i warsztaty edukacji twórczej w placówce socjalizacyjnej. Przeprowadzono badania empiryczne, których przedmiotem były obydwie metody oddziaływań poprzez sztukę. Za cel badań przyjęto ustalenie skali problemów wychowanków, kompetencji terapeutycznych pracowników pedagogicznych, zakresu oddziaływań terapeutycznych i edukacyjnych oraz ich skuteczności w ocenie kadry pedagogicznej i wychowanków. Główny problem badawczy dotyczył odpowiedzi na pytanie: Jaką rolę w wychowaniu dzieci w placówce socjalizacyjnej pełnią arteterapia i edukacja twórcza? W badaniach zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego oraz techniki ankiety i badania dokumentów. Jak wynika z przeprowadzonych badań, dominującą formą pomocy dzieciom jest arteterapia, którą objęte są przede wszystkim osoby z problemami w komunikacji, ze wzmożonym napięciem emocjonalnym, zaburzeniami zachowania i symptomami niedostosowania społecznego. Warsztaty edukacji twórczej prowadzone są dla wszystkich chętnych zainteresowanych tą formą aktywności, chociaż nie we wszystkich grupach wychowawczych. Pedagodzy wykorzystujący w pracy z wychowankami badane metody mają ukończone odpowiednie studia podyplomowe, kursy i szkolenia. Arteterapia pomaga tym dzieciom rozładować napięcie emocjonalne, wyrażać swoje emocje, myśli i uczucia oraz uporać się z problemami emocjonalnymi, stresem, złością i agresją. Warsztaty edukacji twórczej w formach plastycznych i treningu twórczości stymulują integralny rozwój osobowości wychowanków i pobudzają ich procesy autokreacji i autoedukacji.
The article addresses the problem of creation and development of creativity of children and youth through art therapy and creative education workshops in a socialization facility. Empirical studies were conducted, the subject of which were both methods of interaction through art. The aim of the study was to determine the scale of problems of charges, therapeutic competence of pedagogical staff, the scope of therapeutic and educational impacts and their effectiveness in the assessment of teaching staff and foster children. The main research problem concerned the following: What is the role of art therapy and creative education in bringing up children in a socialization institution? The research used the method of diagnostic survey and survey techniques as well as document research. As it results from the conducted research, the dominant form of helping children is art therapy, which mainly includes children with communication problems, with increased emotional tension, behavioral disorders and symptoms of social maladjustment. Creative education workshops are conducted for all those interested in this form of activity, although not in all educational groups. Pedagogical staff using the tested methods in their work with pupils, have completed appropriate postgraduate studies, courses and trainings. Artetherapy helps these children relieve emotional tension, express their emotions, thoughts and feelings and deal with emotional problems, stress, anger and aggression. Creative education workshops in artistic forms and creativity training stimulate the integral development of the pupils’ personalities and stimulate the processes of self-creation and self-education of foster children.
