For a wide class of weights we find the approximative point spectrum and the essential spectrum of the pointwise multiplication operator $M_φ$, $M_φ(f)=φf$, on the weighted Banach spaces of analytic functions on the disc with the sup-norm. Thus we characterize when $M'_φ$ is Fredholm or is an into isomorphism. We also study cyclic phenomena for the adjoint map $M'_φ$.

We give an abstract version of Sierpiński's theorem which says that the closure in the uniform convergence topology of the algebra spanned by the sums of lower and upper semicontinuous functions is the class of all Baire 1 functions. Later we show that a natural generalization of Sierpiński's result for the uniform closure of the space of all sums of A and CA functions is not true. Namely we show that the uniform closure of the space of all sums of A and CA functions is a proper subclass of the space of all functions measurable with respect to the least class containing intersections of analytic and coanalytic sets and which is closed under countable unions (A and CA functions are analogues of lower and upper semicontinuous functions, respectively, when measurability with respect to open sets is replaced by that with respect to analytic sets).

In the present work, we introduce the subclass \(\mathcal{T}_{\gamma ,\alpha}^{k}(\varphi )\), of starlike functions with respect to \(k\)-symmetric points of complex order \(\gamma\) (\(\gamma \neq 0\)) in the open unit disc \(\vartriangle\). Some interesting subordination criteria, inclusion relations and the integral representation for functions belonging to this class are provided. The results obtained generalize some known results, and some other new results are obtained.

Let $M ⊂ ℝ^{n}$ be a real-analytic submanifold and H(M) the algebra of real analytic functions on M. If K ⊂ M is a compact subset we consider $S_{K}={f ∈ H(M)| f(x) ≠ 0 \ \text{for all} \ x ∈ K}$; $S_{K}$ is a multiplicative subset of $H(M)$. Let $S_{K}^{-1}H(M)$ be the localization of H(M) with respect to $S_{K}$. In this paper we prove, first, that $S_{K}^{-1}H(M)$ is a regular ring (hence noetherian) and use this result in two situations:
   1) For each open subset $Ω ⊂ ℝ^{n}$, we denote by O(Ω) the subalgebra of H(Ω) defined as follows: f ∈ O(Ω) if and only if for all x ∈ Ω, the germ of f at x, $f_{x}$, is algebraic on $H(ℝ^{n})$. We prove that if Ω is a bounded subanalytic subset, then O(Ω) is a regular ring (hence noetherian).
   2) Let $M ⊂ ℝ^{n}$ be a Nash submanifold and N(M) the ring of Nash functions on M; we have an injection N(M) → H(M). In [2] it was proved that every prime ideal p of N(M) generates a prime ideal of analytic functions pH(M) if M or V(p) is compact. We use our Theorem 1 to give another proof in the situation where V(p) is compact. Finally we show that this result holds in some particular situation where M and V(p) are not assumed to be compact.

In this paper, we obtain new sufficient conditions for the operators \(F_{\alpha_1,\alpha_2,...,\alpha_n,\beta}(z)\) and \(G_{\alpha_1,\alpha_2,...,\alpha_n,\beta}(z)\) to be univalent in the open unit disc \(\mathcal{U}\), where the functions \(f_1, f_2,..., f_n\) belong to the classes \(S^*(a, b)\) and \(\mathcal{K}(a, b)\). The order of convexity for the operators \(F_{\alpha_1,\alpha_2,...,\alpha_n,\beta}(z)\) and \(G_{\alpha_1,\alpha_2,...,\alpha_n,\beta}(z)\) is also determined. Furthermore, and for \(\beta= 1\), we obtain sufficient conditions for the operators \(F_n(z)\) and \(G_n(z)\) to be in the class \(\mathcal{K}(a, b)\). Several corollaries and consequences of the main results are also considered.

The relation between extremal values of the error and the coefficients of its differential equations is one of the central problems of control systems in chemical industry, because extremal values of the error sometimes cause serious damages to the environment or to the system itself. Analytical formulae for the determination of these values are known only for the second-order systems. In this paper a method which permits to determine extremal values of the error in higher-order systems is proposed.

We prove that the holomorphic differential equation $\varphi^{\prime \prime}(\varphi+c) = \gamma(\varphi^{\prime})^{2} (\varphi:\mathbb{C}\rightarrow \mathbb{C}$ be a holomorphic function and $(\gamma, c) \in \mathbb{C}^{2})$ plays a classical role on many problems of real and complex convexity. The condition exactly $\gamma \in \{1, \frac{s-1}{s} \/ s \in \mathbb{N} \backslash \{0\}\}$ (independently of the constant c) is of great importance in this paper. On the other hand, let $n \geq 1, (A_{1}, A_{2}) \in \mathbb{C}^{2}$ and $g_{1}, g_{2} : \mathbb{C}^{n} \rightarrow \mathbb{C}$ be two analytic functions. Put $u(z, w) = \| A_{1}w - g_{1}(z) \|^{2} + \| A_{2}w - g_{2}(z) \| ^{2}v(z,w) = \| A_{1}w - \overline{g_{1}}(z) \| ^{2} + \| A_{2}w - \overline{g_{2}}(z) \|^{2}$, for $(z,w) \in \mathbb{C}^{n} \times \mathbb{C}$. We prove that $u$ is strictly plurisubharmonic and convex on $\mathbb{C}^{n} \times \mathbb{C}$ if and only if $n = 1, (A_{1}, A_{2}) \in \mathbb{C}^{2} \backslash \{0\}$ and the functions $g_{1}$ and $g_{2}$ have a classical representation form described in the present paper. Now $v$ is convex and strictly psh on $\mathbb{C}^{n} \times \mathbb{C}$ if and only if $(A_{1}, A_{2}) \in \mathbb{C}^{2} \backslash \{0\}, n \in \{1,2\}$ and and $g_{1}, g_{2}$ have several representations investigated in this paper.

Let $K$ be a compact subset of an hyperconvex open set $D ⊂ ℂ^n$, forming with D a Runge pair and such that the extremal p.s.h. function ω(·,K,D) is continuous. Let H(D) and H(K) be the spaces of holomorphic functions respectively on D and K equipped with their usual topologies. The main result of this paper contains as a particular case the following statement: if T is a continuous linear map of H(K) into H(K) whose restriction to H(D) is continuous into H(D), then the restriction of T to $H(D_α)$ is a continuous linear map of $H(D_α)$ into $H(D_α)$, ∀α ∈ ]0,1[ where $D_α = {z ∈ D : ω(z,D,K) < α}$.
