Weihnachten gehört heutzutage zu den Festen, die in vielen Ländern der Welt gefeiert werden. Mit dem Fest sind verschiedene Rituale, sprachliche Praktiken und Textsorten sowie andere Formate verbunden. Sitten und Bräuche rund um Weihnachten werden von Generation zu Generation gerne übertragen und gepflegt. Die Möglichkeiten der digitalen Welt haben die Vielfalt im Bereich der Weihnachtsformate wesentlich bereichert. Im Sammelband „Weihnachtslinguistik“, hrsg. von Konstanze Marx sind Studien versammelt, die sich auf das breit verstandene Weihnachten beziehen. Die Studien werden nach dem Ablauf der weihnachtlichen Rituale in sechs thematische Kapitel unterteilt. Thmeatisiert und analysiert werden u. a. Weihnachtswünsche, -lieder, -briefe, -geschichten, -witze, Abreisskalender sowie Lexik rund um Weihnachten, darunter auch Interjektionen. Die Autoren präsentieren dabei unterschiedliche linguisische Zugänge zu der im Fokus des Bandes stehenden Thematik sowie diverse Herangehensweisen und Fragestellungen. Viele Analysen haben einen modellhaften methodischen Charakter. Daher können der Band und die versammelten Studien als Muster für andere Publikationen und Analysen gelten.
Nowadays, Christmas is one of the festivals celebrated in many countries around the world. Various rituals, linguistic practices and text types as well as other formats are associated with it. The customs and traditions surrounding Christmas are passed on and cherished from generation to generation. The possibilities of the digital world have significantly enriched the diversity of Christmas formats. The anthology “Christmas Linguistics”, edited by Konstanze Marx, brings together studies related to broadly understood Christmas. The studies are divided into six thematic chapters according to the sequence of Christmas rituals. Christmas wishes, songs, letters, stories, jokes, tear-off calendars and Christmas-related lexis, including interjections, are thematized and analysed. The authors present different linguistic approaches to the topic at the center of the volume, as well as various approaches and questions. Many of the analyses have a methodological model character. The volume and the collected studies can therefore serve as a model for other publications and analyses.

Der Beitrag diskutiert die Polysemie deutscher Präpositionen vor dem Hintergrund der Grundprämissen der Kognitiven Semantik. Untersucht werden die durch die Präposition AUF eingeleiteten Dativkonstruktionen. Das Ziel der Analyse liegt in der Ermittlung der vielfältigen Verwendungen der Präposition AUF, der Abgrenzung der einzelnen Bedeutungen auf der Grundlage der im Principled Polysemy Model von Tyler/Evans beschriebenen Regeln, in der Ermittlung der Protoszene und der Rekonstruktion des semantischen Netzwerkes. Ausgegangen wird von der Annahme, dass die durch alltägliche sensomotorische Erfahrung konstruierte räumliche Protoszene eine konzeptuelle Basis für erweiterte Bedeutungen bildet und sie damit motiviert.
Artykuł traktuje o polisemii niemieckich przyimków z perspektywy semantyki kognitywnej. Analizie semantycznej poddano przyimek AUF w konstrukcjach statycznych z celownikiem. Celem artykułu jest opisanie różnorodnych użyć przyimka AUF, rozgraniczenie poszczególnych znaczeń w oparciu o Principled Polysemy Model Tylera i Evansa, identyfikacja protosceny oraz rekonstrukcja sieci semantycznej przyimka. Punktem wyjścia dla rozważań jest teza, że skonstruowana przez codzienne doświadczenia sensomotoryczne protoscena jest konceptualnym punktem wyjścia dla dalszych znaczeń i je motywuje.
This article discusses the semantics of the dative construction with the preposition AUF in aspect of the guiding principles within the cognitive semantics. The aim of the analysis is to show diverse variants of use of the preposition AUF, to establish the meanings from the point of view of the Principled Polysemy Model of Tyler/Evans, to identify the protoscene and to reconstruct the semantic network. The starting point of the analysis is the assumption that the protoscene which is based on the daily sensomotor experience, is the conceptual base forother meanings and their motivations.

Der Beitrag hat zum Ziel, die Wortinhalte ausgewählter Neologismen mit entlehnten Komponenten, vor dem Hintergrund ihrer Darstellungsart, aus der kognitionslinguistischen Sicht zu untersuchen. Das Hauptaugenmerk wird auf die prozessualen Aspekte der Relation der Komponenten des gegebenen Ausdrucks zueinander und zu seinem vordergründigen Inhalt gerichtet. In diesem Zusammenhang werden die Verarbeitungsprozesse analysiert, die die Herausgestaltung der Bedeutungsinhalte der Ausdrücke steuern.
The aim of the paper is an analysis of the content of neologisms with borrowings as their components against the background of the way of presentation of this content. The examination shall be done from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. The main focus is on the processual aspects of the relationship between individual components of a given expression, as well as between the components and the surface content of the expression. In this context the processing mechanisms which govern the shaping of the meaning content of the expressions will be analysed.
Celem artykułu jest ukazanie, z perspektywy lingwistyki kognitywnej, wpływu sposobu przedstawienia treści wyrazów na ich przetwarzanie na przykładzie wybranych neologizmów z zapożyczonymi komponentami. W centrum zainteresowania znajdują się procesualne aspekty wzajemnej relacji między komponentami danego wyrażenia i ich relacji względem pierwszoplanowej treści tego wyrażenia. W tym kontekście analizowane są procesy przetwarzania, które kształtują treści znaczeniowe wyrażeń.

Die Corona-Krise hat zu schweren inneren Konflikten und gesellschaftlicher Spaltung in vielen Ländern der Welt geführt. Diese Spaltung wird zu einem großen Teil durch antagonistische diskursive Praktiken hergestellt, vertieft und reproduziert. Dieser Beitrag unternimmt den Versuch die theoretischen Grundlagen für die Analyse und Beschreibung der konkurrierenden Diskurslager und die Bedingungen ihrer Entstehung zu erarbeiten. Dabei sollen die theoretische Trennlinie zwischen der traditionellen politischen Diskurstheorie under der linguistischen Kommunikationsanalyse aufgehoben und vielversprechende methodische Ansätze für die Analyse multimodaler Ressourcen und ihres kommunikativen Gebrauchs in den mit der Corona-Krise assoziierten Diskursen aufgezeigt werden.
The Corona crisis has led to internal conflict and the creation of enormous societal chasms in many countries of the world that would have been unthinkable a year ago. This divide is in large part being created, reproduced and deepened through ongoing antagonistic discursive practices. This article aims at outlining the theoretical groundwork for the analysis and description of the resulting discursive camps and the facilitating processes. It endeavors to bridge the theoretical gap between traditional political discourse theory and linguistic communication analysis and show promising methodological pathways for forensic analysis of multimodal resources and their communicative use in the current Corona associated discourses.

Der Rezensionsbeitrag bespricht das Buch von Aleksandra R. Knapik und Piotr P. Chruszczewski „Kreolingwistyka w zarysie. Językowo-kulturowe mechanizmy przetrwania, rozwoju i dezintegracji“, das die erste polnischsprachige Einführung in die Kreolistik ist. Es ist allerdings zu betonen, dass diese Monografie auch einen wertvollen Überblick über Kontaktlinguistik und anthropologische Linguistik bietet. In der Einleitung des vorliegenden Beitrags wird darauf aufmerksam gemacht, wie wichtig die Untersuchung von gefährdeten Sprachen ist. Dasselbe gilt jedoch auch für die Untersuchung der Entstehung und Entwicklung von neuen Sprachen, die in Folge vom Kontakt zwischen zwei oder mehr Sprachgemeinschaften entstehen. Im weiteren Teil des Beitrags werden die einzelnen Kapitel der Monografie besprochen. Im ersten Kapitel geben die Autoren einen breiteren Kontext der Kreolistik, indem sie ihre Position im Rahmen der Kontaktlinguistik bestimmen, die wiederum als eine Teildisziplin der anthropologischen Sprachwissenschaft angesehen wird. Die Taxonomie der Sprachanthropologie sowie die Hauptkonzepte der anthropologischen Linguistik werden in der besprochenen Monografie klar dargestellt. Ihre nächsten Kapitel konzentrieren sich auf Pidginsprachen (Kapitel 2) und auf Kreolsprachen (Kapitel 3). Beide Typen der Kontaktsprachen werden detailliert beschrieben, wenn es um ihre Definitionen, charakteristische Merkmale und mögliche Klassifikationen geht. Im letzten Kapitel ihres Buches gehen die Autoren auf die gefährdeten Sprachen ein. Sie besprechen Ursachen und Mechanismen von Sprach- und Kulturveränderungen, die zu dem Verschwinden von Sprachen führen können und analysieren die Faktoren, die von Vitalität einer Sprache zeugen. Im abschließenden Teil des vorliegenden Beitrags werden einige allgemeine Bemerkungen über die besprochene Monografie präsentiert.
The review article discusses the book of Aleksandra R. Knapik and Piotr P. Chruszczewski “Kreolingwistyka w zarysie. Językowo-kulturowe mechanizmy przetrwania, rozwoju i dezintegracji”, which is the first introduction to Creolingistics written in Polish. It should be however emphasized, that the book under review is also a valuable overview of contact linguistics and anthropological linguistics. The paper begins by drawing attention to the importance of research on endangered languages as well as on the formation and development of new languages, which come into existence, when two or more language communities meet. In the next part of this paper individual chapters of the book are discussed. In the first chapter, the authors outline the broader background of the research, defining the place of creolinguistics within contact linguistics, which in turn belongs to the field of anthropological linguistics. The taxonomy of language anthropology is very clearly explained, and the main concepts of anthropological linguistics are presented. Next chapters of the book under review focus on pidgins (chapter 2) and creoles (chapter 3). Both types of contact languages are described in detail in terms of their definition(s), characteristics, and possible classifications. In the last chapter of their book the authors deal with endangered languages. They discuss causes and mechanisms of linguistic and cultural changes, that lead to their disappearance and analyse the factors of language vitality. In the concluding part of the review article some general remarks on the book under review are presented.

Der Beitrag greift die Frage nach dem Geltungsbereich der konzeptuellen Metaphern GUT IST OBEN und SCHLECHT IST UNTEN für die Emotionen am Beispiel der Emotionen ‚Überraschung‘ und ‚Wut‘ auf. Diskutiert wird die These, dass positive Emotionen von den Menschen räumlich oben und negative unten lokalisiert werden. Den Ausgangspunkt für die Erörterungen bildet die Untersuchung von Marmolejo-Ramos et al. (2017) zu der räumlichen Lokalisation der Emotion ‚Überraschung‘ im Vergleich zu der räumlichen Lokalisation der Emotionen ‚Freude‘ und ‚Traurigkeit‘. Am Beispiel der Emotion ‚Wut‘ wird gezeigt, dass der generalisierende Charakter dieser These nicht auf alle Emotionen zutrifft. Im Beitrag werden drei Experimente präsentiert, die an polnischen Probanden durchgeführt wurden. Die Ergebnisse werden im Hinblick auf die Sprache-Denken-Relation weiter diskutiert.
Artykuł podejmuje problem zakresu oddziaływania metafor konceptualnych DOBRE U GÓRY i ZŁE U DOŁU w odniesieniu do emocji na przykładzie emocji ‘zaskoczenieʼ i ‘wściekłośćʼ. Przedmiotem dyskusji jest teza, że pozytywne emocje są przestrzennie lokalizowane wyżej, a negatywne niżej. Punkt wyjścia dla rozważań stanowi badanie Marmolejo-Ramos et al. (2017) dotyczące przestrzennej lokalizacji emocji ‘zaskoczenieʼ w porównaniu do przestrzennej lokalizacji emocji ‘radośćʼ i ‘smutekʼ. Na przykładzie emocji ‘wściekłośćʼ pokazano, że generalizujący charakter tej tezy nie obejmuje wszystkich emocji. W artykule zaprezentowano trzy eksperymenty przeprowadzone na polskojęzycznych osobach badanych. Uzyskane wyniki poddano dalszej dyskusji w kontekście relacji język-myślenie.
The paper explores the question of the scope of the conceptual metaphors GOOD IS UP and BAD IS DOWN for emotions using the example of the emotions ‘surpriseʼ and ‘angerʼ. It discusses the thesis that positive emotions are localized upper and negative ones lower by the person. The starting point is the study by Marmolejo-Ramos et al. (2017) regarding the spatial localization of the emotion ‘surpriseʼ compared to the spatial localization of the emotions ‘joyʼ and ‘sadnessʼ. Using the example of the emotion ‘angerʼ, it is shown that the generalizing character of this thesis does not apply to all emotions. The paper presents three experiments conducted on Polish subjects. The results are discussed further with regard to the language-thought relation.

The article describes a corpus research with its theoretical background. The basis of our research is a press corpus with 27 million tokens, where the epistemic terms are annotated. The grammatical and lexical epistemic expression are consistently kept apart on the basis of the relevant literature. The next step is to investigate with a fully automatic method which expressions often occur together in a text. Semantic subclasses of epistemic expressions are defined on the basis of these quantitatively proven solidarities. Finally, concrete examples illustrate how the epistemic expressions structure the text.
Im Beitrag wird eine Korpusuntersuchung mit ihrem theoretischen Hintergrund beschrieben. In einem 27 Millionen Tokens starken Pressekorpus werden die epistemischen Ausdrücke annotiert. Die grammatikalisierten und lexikalischen epistemischen Ausdrucksmittel werden aufgrund der einschlägigen Literatur konsequent auseinandergehalten. Im nächsten Schritt wird mit einer vollautomatischen Methode untersucht, welche Ausdrücke häufig gemeinsam in einem Text auftreten. Aufgrund dieser quantitativ nachgewiesenen Solidaritäten werden semantische Subklassen epistemischer Ausdrücke definiert. Anschließend wird anhand konkreter Textbeispiele gezeigt, wie die epistemischen Ausdrücke den Text strukturieren.

Der Text versteht sich als ein Beitrag zur Diskussion über den Charakter von Sprache und Denken. Von der Annahme über seinen allgemein metaphorischen Charakter ausgehend, soll auf eine Schnittstelle zwischen der allgemeinen Dimension des Begriffssystems und der individuellen Dimension der Konzeptualisierungen einzelner Menschen verwiesen werden. Die gegenseitigen Wechselbeziehungen beider Dimensionen werden an ausgewählten Beispielen illustriert.
The paper is a contribution to the discussion about the nature of language and thinking. Taking the assumption about its universal metaphorical nature as a starting point, we want to draw the attention to an interface of the system of conceptsʼ universal dimension and the individual dimension of the conceptualizations of particular people. The interrelationship between the two dimensions is presented with the use of selected examples.
Artykuł stanowi przyczynek do dyskusji o charakterze myślenia i języka. Wychodząc z założenia o generalnie metaforycznym charakterze tych procesów zwraca się uwagę na mechanizmy zachodzące na styku ogólnego pojmowania systemu pojęciowego i indywidualnych konceptualizacji poszczególnych ludzi. Ilustracji wzajemnego oddziaływania mechanizmów ścierających się na styku obu płaszczyzn służą analizowane przykłady.

This paper focuses on the question of conditions under which a written or a spoken phrase can be interpreted as ‘critical’. After all, the possibility to express something in different ways—contrasted with the expressions that have already been uttered - is one of the main features of language in use. Contrastive discourse linguistics as critical practice interrelates expressions from different languages. In this way, it shows alternative expressions and thoughts beyond their own discursive environment.
Punktem wyjścia podjętych w pracy rozważań jest odpowiedź na pytanie dotyczące warunków, które muszą zostać spełnione, by móc uznać realizację jakiegoś wyrażenia za ‘krytyczne’ na tle innych. Każdy odmienny sposób wyrażania (pojmowany tutaj jako ciągłe re-formułowanie i tym samym kontrastowanie z tym, co zostało już powiedziane, czyli proces nieodłącznie wpisany w codzienną komunikację) stanowi wszakże podstawową właściwość języka w użyciu. Skupiając się na relacjach wyrażeń pochodzących z różnych języków, kontrastywna lingwistyka dyskursu w ujęciu krytycznym, ukazuje na ich tle alternatywne możliwości wyrażania i sposoby myślenia.
Ausgangspunkt ist die Frage, welche Bedingungen erfüllt sein müssen, um die sprachliche Realisierung eines Ausdrucks im Kontrast zu anderen Ausdrücken als ,kritisch‘ bewerten zu können. Schließlich ist das Anders-Sagen als stetige Re-Formulierung und der damit einhergehende alltägliche gesellschaftliche Vorgang der Kontrastierung zu bereits Gesagtem eine grundlegende Eigenschaft von Sprache im Gebrauch. Kontrastive Diskurslinguistik als kritisches Verfahren verstanden setzt Ausdrücke unterschiedlicher Sprachen in Beziehung und zeigt dadurch alternativen Ausdrucks- und Denkweisen auf.

The purpose of this inquiry is to set the equivalence relations between the German modal particles etwa, schon, wohl in rhetorical questions and the corresponding particles in Polish. The communicative function of the particles according to rhetoricity will be established first. The relevance of the particles meaning in causing the rhetoricity will be considered at that. The research results should provide information about the equivalence types as well as about the real use of the particles in German and Polish in terms of rhetoric.

Gender Equal Job World from the Perspective of Sociolinguistics It is difficult to separate trends in a language from trends in the society, just as to fix boundaries between linguistics and sociology. Gender inflection as a systemic tool represents a bridge between the past and the future which can fill in the gap in a language system and particular language areas, such as the field of professions. More and more politically correct gender specifications are required, bringing changes into the language. Those changes are, however, perceived often negatively. Questions to ask are if and how German can systematically cope with the new distribution of roles in the (professional) society. The aim of this paper is to explain the phenomenon from the sociolinguistic point of view.
Es ist schwierig, Trends in der Sprache und Trends in der Sprachgemeinschaft voneinander zu trennen, genauso wie die Grenzen der Sprachwissenschaft und der Soziologie festzulegen. So gesehen, stellt die Movierung als systemisches Mittel eine Brücke zwischen der Vergangenheit und Zukunft dar, die im Sprachsystem und im konkreten Sprachgebrauch, zum Beispiel in der Berufswelt, eine bestimmte Lücke füllen kann. Die immer mehr geforderte, politisch korrekte Geschlechtsspezifikation bringt in die Sprache nicht nur Veränderungen, die mit mehr oder weniger kritischer Resonanz wahrgenommen werden, sondern auch die Frage, ob und wie die deutsche Sprache dieser neuen Rollenverteilung in der (Berufs)gesellschaft systemisch nachkommen kann. Der Beitrag stellt einen Versuch dar, diese Frage anhand konkreter Untersuchung aus soziolinguistischer Sicht zu diskutieren.

Der Artikel ist fokussiert auf das Verhältnis zwischen Diskursmarker und den Prozess der Rezeption. Unter Nutzung der Begriffe und Methoden der Diskurslinguistik ist es möglich, die unterhalb der Textoberfläche wirkenden Prozesse zu beschreiben und so ein besseres Verständnis von dem Zusammenwirken von Konzept auf der einen Seite und benutzten stilistischen Elementen wie Allegorie auf der anderen Seite zu erhalten. Es war auch möglich zu demonstrieren, dass die Art des Mediums, kombiniert mit einem speziellen Netzwerk von Wissen, spezielle Typen textueller Strukturen und sprachliche Mittel offeriert. Zusammenfassend kann festgehalten werden, dass die kognitive Linguistik in Kombination mit Methoden der Diskursanalyse, ein signifikante Menge an Werkzeugen für die systematische Erforschung von Texten und Diskursen bereitstellt.
The article is focused on the relationship between discourse markers and the process of reception. By using terms and methods of discourse linguistics, it is possible to describe the processes working under the surface of texts and discourses and to obtain a better understanding of the cooperation between the concept on the one side and used stylistic elements such as allegory on the other side. It was also possible to demonstrate that the kind of medium combined with a special network of knowledge offers special types of textual structures and language tools. In conclusion, we would maintain that cognitive linguistics in combination with methods of discourse analysis provides a significant set of tools for the systematic investigation of texts and discourse.
Tematem artykułu jest relacja pomiędzy znacznikami dyskursu a procesem jego recepcji. Użycie terminów i metod lingwistyki dyskursu umożliwia opis procesów działających pod powierzchnią tekstów i dyskursów, a także lepsze zrozumienie wzajemnych oddziaływań pomiędzy konceptem z jednej strony a użytymi elementami stylistycznymi, takimi jak alegoria, z drugiej. Analiza umożliwiła pokazanie, że rodzaj medium w połączeniu ze szczególną siecią wiedzy stwarza szczególne rodzaje struktur tekstowych i narzędzi językowych. Podsumowując, można stwierdzić, że lingwistyka kognitywna w połączeniu z metodami analizy dyskursu dostarcza ważnych narzędzi dla systematycznych badań tekstów i dyskursów.

In dieser Arbeit wird die Diskurslinguistik weder als eine Methodologie noch als eine Forschungsperspektive definiert, sondern als ein transdisziplinäres Forschungsprogramm, das sich die positiven Errungenschaften des tiefgreifenden Wandels in den Geisteswissenschaften zunutze macht. Ihr Forschungsgegenstand sind die diskursspezifischen Relationen zwischen dem Sprachgebrauch, den kollektiven Wissensformationen und den kulturellen Prozessen. Von Interesse ist dabei, wie die sprachlichen Perspektivierungen kollektive Bedeutungen konstituieren und damit spezifische Weltbilder modellieren. Auf diese Weise wird die Diskurslinguistik zu einer integrierenden und projektierenden Linguistik. Wenn ihr Forschungsgegenstand, ihr Erkenntnisinteresse und ihr Forschungsverfahren in einem Projekt erfasst werden, integriert sie verschiedene theoretische, methodologische und methodische Perspektiven.
In this paper, discourse linguistics is defined neither as a methodology nor as a research perspective, but as a transdisciplinary research programme that draws on the broadly defined changes in humanities. Discourse linguistics studies the discursively shaped relations between the use of language, collective belief systems, knowledge selection processes and culture, and it also asks how linguistic perspectivising creates socially shared meanings, thus modeling specific images of reality. Thus, discourse linguistics becomes an integrative and designing discipline. It integrates different theoretical, methodological and methodical perspectives in designing its research subject, cognitive objective and research procedure.

In diesem Artikel werden Besonderheiten der politischen Kommunikation vorgestellt. In der Forschung ist man sich einig, dass politische Sprache keine Fachsprache oder Varietät im traditionellen Sinne ist. Dennoch hat es Versuche gegeben, Merkmale des politischen Sprachgebrauchs genauer zu definieren. Solche Versuche stammen aus dem linguistischen Teilgebiet der „Politolinguistik“, dessen Geschichte kurz beschrieben wird, um die methodischen Fortschritte dieser Disziplin zu skizzieren. Schließlich gibt der Beitrag einen Überblick über wichtige Forschungsergebnisse der Politolinguistik und über Diskurse, die für die Kommunikationsgeschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland von langfristiger Bedeutung sind und waren.
In this article, special features of political communication are presented. Researchers agree that political language is not a technical language or variety in the traditional sense. Nevertheless, there have been attempts to define the characteristics of political language use more precisely. Such attempts originate from the linguistic subfield of „politolinguistics“, whose history is briefly described in order to outline the methodological advances of this discipline. Finally, the article provides an overview of important research results in politolinguistics and of discourses that are and have been of long-term importance for the history of communication in the Federal Republic of Germany.

This article deals with cognitive aspects of artistic translation based on the example of translations of Herta Müller’s oeuvre into Polish and Czech. The reader of Herta Müller’s novels in translation seeks to get to know / acquaint onself with otherness in / through translation, which will be familiar to him or her in a manner consistent with the idiomaticity of the source language. Cognitive values are especially present in the topic offered by Herta Müller, that is, what living in a communist dictatorship means: constant fear of the secret police, reporting to authorities, individual incapacitation, censorship, thus — topics known to Czech and Polish readers from their own history.
Dieser Artikel konzentriert sich auf die kognitiven Aspekte der künstlerischen Übersetzung am Beispiel von Herta Müllers Übersetzungen ins Polnische und Tschechische. Der zweitleser von Herta Müllers Roman sucht in der Übersetzung nach Andersartigkeit gepaart mit Idiomatizität der Ausgangssprache. Der Übersetzer muss daher Verbindungen zu kulturellen, mentalen und historischen Erfahrungen herstellen, insbesondere zu kulturell geprägten Wörtern und Ausdrücken, um seinen Lesern ähnliche ästhetische und kognitive Erfahrungen zu ermöglichen. Dabei berücksichtigt der Übersetzer die Unterschiede im historischen und kulturellen Bewusstsein zwischen den Erst- und Zweitlesern. Kognitive Werte sind besonders in den von Herta Müller angesprochenen Themen präsent. Sie äußern sich in poetischer Rauheit, Nähe zur gesprochenen Sprache und der Präsenz multikultureller Elemente, d.h. in dem, was das Leben in der kommunistischen Diktatur ausmacht: ständige Angst vor Geheimdiensten, Denunziantentum, Entmündigung, Zensur, d.h. Themen, die tschechischen und polnischen Lesern aus ihrer eigenen Geschichte bekannt sind.

Im Beitrag wird ein Kooperationsprojekt dargestellt, in dem Lehrveranstaltungen des Instituts für Schulpädagogik der Philipps-Universität Marburg und des Instituts für Angewandte Linguistik der Adam-Mickiewicz-Universität Poznań im Bereich der Förderung der Hörverstehenskompetenz verzahnt wurden: Marburger DaF-Studierende erstellten Hörverstehensmaterialien, die in sprach-praktischen Lehrveranstaltungen mit DaF-Studierenden in Poznań erprobt wurden. Nach einer Beschreibung der DaF-Lehrerausbildung an beiden Universitäten erläutern die Autorinnen Aufbau, Ablauf und Evaluation der Lehrveranstaltungen. Abschließend wird in einem Fazit aufgezeigt, welcher Nutzen sich durch die Kooperation für beide Studierendengruppen ergab.
The article presents a project aimed at the development of listening comprehension skills and based on the cooperation between the Institute of School Pedagogy (Institut für Schulpädagogik) at the Philipps University in Marburg and the Institute of Ap plied Linguistics (Instytut Lingwistyki Stosowanej) at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Educated for the profession of German language teachers, students from Marburg designed didactic materials for listening which were verified by foreign language students in Poznań during their practical German classes. Having characterized the studies for foreign language teacher trainees in both universities, the authors discuss the rationale, the process and the evaluation of the courses. Finally, the conclusion shows the benefits of the cooperation for both groups of students involved in this bilateral project.
Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje projekt opierający się na współpracy między Instytutem Lingwistyki Stosowanej w Poznaniu a Instytutem Pedagogiki Szkolnej w Marburgu w zakresie wspierania umiejętności odbioru obcojęzycznych tekstów audialnych i audiowizualnych: Kształceni do zawodu nauczyciela języka niemieckiego jako obcego studenci z Marburga opracowali materiały dydaktyczne do treningu słuchowego, które zostały wypróbowane w ramach zajęć praktycznych z j. niemieckiego ze studentami z Poznania. Po charakterystyce nauczycielskich studiów językowych w Marburgu i w Poznaniu autorki omawiają koncepcję, przebieg i ewaluację obu kursów. Artykuł kończy podsumowanie poświęcone zreferowaniu korzyści kooperacji dla dwóch uczestniczących w tym bilateralnym projekcie grup studenckich.

Opis:
Ulrich Engel hat mit seinen Publikationen zur deutschen Grammatik, zur Verbvalenz und zur kontrastiven Linguistik große Wirkung auf die internationale germanistische Linguistik ausgeübt. Weniger bekannt ist, dass er mit seinem Werk auch andere linguistische Teildisziplinen beeinflusst hat, die davon bis heute profitieren. Dependenzielle Ansätze spielen bei der maschinellen Syntaxanalyse mittlerweile eine zentrale Rolle, und bei der Entwicklung von Systemen zur maschinellen Übersetzung haben Engels Arbeiten ebenfalls ihre Spur hinterlassen. Der Aufbau von Sprachressourcen in Gestalt von „Baumbanken“ kann auf Engels Grammatikkonzeption zurückgreifen, und auch zur neuerlich florierenden Konstruktionsgrammatik bestehen klare Bezüge. Im Beitrag werden diese weniger bekannten Einwirkungen von Engels Werk in andere Bereiche dargestellt und in ihrer andauernden Aktualität gewürdigt.
With his publications on German grammar, on verb valency and on contrastive linguistics, Ulrich Engel has had a great impact on international German linguistics. It is less well known that his work has also influenced other sub-disciplines of linguistics, which still benefit from it today. Dependential approaches now play a central role in machine syntax analysis, and Engel’s work has also left its mark on the development of machine translation systems. The development of language resources in the form of “tree banks” can fall back on Engel’s grammar conception, and there are also clear references to the newly flourishing construction grammar. In this article, these lesser-known influences of Engel’s work on other areas are presented and their ongoing relevance is acknowledged.

The article deals with the most important relations between Foreign Language Didactics and the main theoretical models in modern linguistics, especially the Applied Linguistics of second- and foreign-language teaching. Theories and models of modern linguistics have often laid the theoretical foundations of foreign language teaching, as we can observe in the individual methods and learning techniques (from structuralism to generative grammar, communicativepragmatic turn of the 60s and 70s, cognitive linguistics and to F. Grucza's anthropocentric theory of languages). In this perspective, the purpose of this article is to raise and discuss the question of how modern linguistic theories can improve the effectiveness of language teaching.
Im Artikel werden die wichtigsten Relationen zwischen der Fremdsprachendidaktik und der Linguistik, insbesondere der angewandten Linguistik behandelt. Linguistische Theorien und Modelle waren oft theoretische Grundlagen des Fremdsprachenunterrichts, was in einzelnen Methoden und Lerntechniken sichtbar wurde (vom Strukturalismus, über generative Grammatik, kommunikativ-pragmatische Wende der 60-er und 70-er Jahre, kognitive Linguistik bis zur anthropozentrischen Theorie der Sprachen von F. Grucza). In dieser Perspektive werden ausgewählte Möglichkeiten dargestellt, wie moderne linguistische Theorien vor allem die Effektivität des Fremdsprachenunterrichts verbessern können.

Der folgende Bericht besteht aus zwei Teilen. Der erste geht zuruck auf die Abschiedsvorlesung, die ich am 15. Juli 2010 vor Studenten, Kollegen aus der Universitat und Gasten von auserhalb gehalten habe.1 Den zweiten Teil habe ich im Fruhjahr 2018 angefugt, als Andrzej Kątny mich eingeladen hatte, fur die Festschrift fur Ulrich Engel ein ≫Selbstportrat≪ beizusteuern. Es umfasst mit Ruckblicken und Ausblicken die acht Jahre, die ich nun im Ruhestand bin (im akademischen Kontext spricht man gern vom ≫Emeritat≪).
The following report consists of two parts. The first one is essentially the text of my farewell lecture given on July 15th, 2010. There were a number of students, academic colleagues and guests from outside the university present. The second part was added in early 2018 following Andrzej Kątny’s kind invitation to contribute a self‑portrait to the festschrift for Ulrich Engel. It covers the period of eight years after my retirement with some flashbacks and some foresights.

Opis:
The paper aims to grasp a contemporary phenomenon known as depression from another, i.e. spiritual angle. The experience described by a Carmelite monk and  mystic John of the Cross as “dark night” requires  a new scientific panorama with reference to contemporary mental disorders. It constitutes a highly complex physical, mental and spiritual phenomenon. Therefore, it cannot be defined without in-depth, credible, responsible and well-justified interdisciplinary research. In this paper, we propose a new model of diagnosis, therapy and treatment of the “liminal spaces” states regarded as depression with the use of quantitative and qualitative mixed-methods and tools  in social sciences and humanities, including digital humanities and applied linguistics. Further research may and should lead to a common model developed also with  medical scientists. We also see a great and very promising potential of our model developed together with the achievements of medical informatics, narrative and translational medicine and translational sciences in general.
In diesem Artikel soll das zeitgenössische Phänomen der Depression aus einer etwas anderen, spirituellen Perspektive betrachtet werden. Die Erfahrung, die der Karmelitermystiker Johannes vom Kreuz als "dunkle Nacht" beschreibt, erfordert eine neue Sichtweise auf psychische Störungen. Es handelt sich um ein äußerst komplexes, psycho-physisch-spirituelles Phänomen. Es lässt sich ohne eingehende, verantwortungsvolle und interdisziplinäre wissenschaftliche Forschung nicht klar definieren. In diesem Artikel stellen wir unseren Vorentwurf für ein neues Modell zur Diagnose, Behandlung und Heilung der als Depression bezeichneten Zustände vor, das auf qualitativer und quantitativer Forschung unter Anwendung methodologischer Wissenschaften und Instrumente aus den Sozial- und Geisteswissenschaften mit besonderem Schwerpunkt auf der angewandten Linguistik beruht. Weitere Forschungen können und sollten zu einem gemeinsamen Modell führen, das auch mit Wissenschaftlern aus dem Bereich der Medizin und den breit aufgefassten kognitiven Wissenschaften entwickelt wird. Wir sehen auch ein großes Potenzial für unser Modell zusammen mit den Errungenschaften der Medizininformatik im Bereich der Translationalen Medizin.
Artykuł ma na celu spojrzenie na współczesne zjawisko określane mianem depresji z nieco innej, duchowej perspektywy. Doświadczenie określane przez karmelitańskiego mistyka św. Jana od Krzyża mianem "nocy ciemnej" wymaga nowego oglądu w odniesieniu do zaburzeń psychicznych. Jest to zjawisko niezwykle złożone, psycho-fizyczno-duchowe. Nie można go jasno zdefiniować bez dogłębnych, odpowiedzialnych i interdyscyplinarnych badań naukowych. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiamy naszą wstępną propozycję nowego modelu diagnozowania, terapii i leczenia stanów określanych jako depresja przy zastosowaniu badań jakościowych i ilościowych z zastosowaniem nauk metod i narzędzi nauk społecznych i humanistycznych ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem jezykoznawstwa stosowanego. Dalsze badania mogą i powinny doprowadzić do wspólnego modelu opracowanego też z naukowcami z obszaru medycyny oraz szeroko pojętych nauk kognitywnych. Dostrzegamy też ogromny potencjał naszego modelu wraz ze zdobyczami  informatyki medycznej w obszarze medycyny translacyjnej.

Anhand einer Reihe von autobiographischen „Selfies“ wird ein Leben als eine Folge von aufgeschnappten Meinungen konfrontiert. Vor allem mit dem, was Gerd Antos in und mit der Linguistik im Laufe sejner Karriere dazugelernt hat. Linguistik sozusagen als ein lebenslanges learning by doing.
Through a series of autobiographical snapshots the author confronts his life as a sequence of picked‑up views. The emphasis will be on the new things Gerd Antos learned with and within linguistics over the course of his career. Linguistics as a life‑long ‘learning by doing’ as it were.

Simultaneous interpretation is among the most desired forms of oral translation used during international meetings. The theory and practice of the trade are exposed to constant changes. New theoretical research results are still surfacing along with the revised teaching and practice recommendations. This article addresses the question of simultaneous interpreting instruction based on the models adopted at the Department of Applied Linguistics, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.

В данной статье мы затрагиваем вопросы, связанные с преподаванием синхронного перевода исходя из модели, практикуемой в Отделении прикладной лингвистики Университета Марии Кюри-Склодовской в Люблине.
