The study deals with operation quality assessment of operating complex systems especially transport ones. It has been established that assessment of their operation quality depends on fulfilment level of specified criteria. Thus, determination of a set of criteria in terms of their quantity and significance is of great importance. Since the considerations refer to socio-technical systems of the type: human machine and environment , and especially municipal transport systems, these criteria account for human actions, machine operation (transport means) and the impact of factors coming from the environment. The basis of their operation quality is provided by a set of significant, variable in time, measurable and independent features whose values, in a given time period, determine the fulfilment degree of the specified criteria. .On the basis of fulfilment degree of the distinguished criteria, an assessment of operation quality and classification of the considered transport systems are made. In this study, one way of choosing the criteria has been proposed. This method is based on square matrixes and questionnaire survey, which are usedfor establishing their influence on the transport system operation quality, for selected transport means, used in urban complexes.

Opis:
The basis of operation systems functioning is their ability to accomplish set goals, in given conditions, place, quantity and time. Assessment of their operation quality is a summary measurement of their efficiency, reliability, safety, environment friendliness and ergonomics. The analysis of literature on this subject proves, that studying the systems operation quality is one of the main factors, which make up the processes of their service, repairs, control, supply, diagnostics, and most of all, operation of used machines and devices. The studied systems belong to socio-technical systems of the type H–M–E (human–machine–environment), to which the discussed transport system, being the research object of this work, belongs as well. Basing on the author's own research and the identification of processes occurring within the studied object, a method and a model for its operation quality assessment have been developed and discussed in the article. Application of the method enables making an assessment of the research object operation quality, depending on changes of values of features describing the actions of operators, technical objects operated by them and the impact of the environment.
Podstawą działania systemów eksploatacji jest realizacja postawionych im celów w określonych warunkach, miejscu, ilości i czasie. Ocena jakości ich funkcjonowania stanowi zbiorczą miarę zarówno pod względem efektywności, niezawodności, bezpieczeństwa, ekologiczności, jak i ergonomiczności. Z analizy literatury przedmiotowej wynika, że badanie jakości funkcjonowania tych systemów stanowi jeden z podstawowych czynników w procesach obsługowo-naprawczych, sterowania, zasilania, diagnozowania, a w szczególności użytkowania eksploatowanych w nich maszyn i urządzeń. Omawiane systemy zalicza się do systemów socjotechnicznych typu (człowiek–maszyna–otoczenie), wśród których wyróżnić można system transportowy, stanowiący w niniejszym opracowaniu obiekt badań. Na podstawie wyników własnych badań eksploatacyjnych oraz identyfikacji procesów realizowanych w obiekcie badań w opracowaniu przedstawiono metodę oraz zbudowano model oceny jakości działania takich systemów. Zastosowanie tej metody umożliwia ocenę jakości ich działania, realizowaną w zależności od zmian wartości cech opisujących działanie operatorów, sterowanych przez nich obiektów technicznych oraz wpływu otoczenia.

This paper deals with selected problems connected with transport means operation quality. Basic concepts concerning the problems of quality have been defined, and general characteristics of the elaborated methodology have been made. Description of rules on the basis of which the method was elaborated, has been presented. An algorithm of mathematical model determination has been created and a model for quality assessment of the system operation has been built. This model is supposed to serve as a general abstract form for operation quality assessment of a wide class of real transport systems different in terms of their features, structure and operation. The further part of the paper deals with possibilities of quality control in order to provide the desired level of the transport system operation quality which will be an effect of the carried out research, especially, the results, obtained on the basis of the proposed assessment method. The presented methodology can be found to be a universal tool for diagnostic, prognostic processes, and above all, for optimization and rational control ofcomplex systems of technical object using, especially transport ones through assessment of their states, determined on the basis of changes of significant features characteristic for the system.

The article deals with an issue of complex systems operation efficiency, especially of the ones which are connected with transport. The operation of such systems aims at developing both passenger and load transportation in terms of safety, reliability, effectiveness and environment friendliness. These properties should be researched in a particular place and time that were earlier planned and selected. Operation effectiveness is an important component ofwidely understood social-economic and technological research, including assessment of the considered transport system. The concepts of operation efficiency, most frequently used in literature, express it as the relation between benefits (treated as profit or income in terms of economy) and costs. However, a ratio of two quantities, the flrst of which is evaluated positively, that is, aims at reaching the highest values and the other one being negative, is considered as the most important definition of efficiency. In some cases these quantities can assume constant values, treated as basic ones. It should be remembered, though, that in many cases the system goals are formulated in different terms than, e.g. economic ones. And the systems should be evaluated taking into consideration the goal achievement degree. The article deals with an analysis of distinguished values of selected assessment indices for an investigated transport system, and on this basis an assessment of the transport system operation efficiency, in a given period of time, has been made.

An analysis of experimental tests results and a literature review show that determination of the optimal number of criteria for assessment of operation quality of a given transportation system is crucial to the assessment result. The analysis has been performed on the basis of research on operation quality of a given transportation system. This is a real transportation system providing the population with transport services in a given urban and suburban area. The operation quality of such a transportation system is affected by people's behavior, operation of the vehicle, and the impact of the environment. In order to ensure appropriate quality of the system functioning it needs to be constantly evaluated. The transportation process ought to be optimized and innovative solutions should be implemented. In this work a set of evaluation criteria has been determined, on the basis of which, evaluation and analysis of the quality of transport services provided by a given municipal transportation system have been performed.
Analiza wyników badań eksploatacyjnych oraz literaturowy przegląd zagadnienia wykazały, że problematyka wyznaczania optymalnej liczby kryteriów oceny jakości działania danego systemu transportowego jest istotnym zagadnieniem, mającym bezpośredni wpływ na wyniki realizowanej oceny. Całość rozważań dokonano w ramach realizowanych badań dotyczących oceny i sterowania jakości działania wybranego systemu transportowego. Jest to rzeczywisty, działający celowo system, świadczący usługi przewozu pasażerów na określonym obszarze miejskim i terenach podmiejskich. Na jakości działania takiego systemu ma wpływ działanie ludzi, funkcjonowanie środków transportowych oraz oddziaływanie otoczenia. Zapewnienie oczekiwanego poziomu jakości świadczonej usługi transportowej powinno być związane z ciągłą jego oceną, optymalizowaniem procesu transportowego oraz wprowadzeniem innowacyjnych rozwiązań. W niniejszym opracowaniu wyznaczono zbiór kryteriów ocenowych i na ich podstawie dokonano oceny oraz analizy poziomu jakości usług przewozowych świadczonych przez wyróżniony system transportu miejskiego.

Analiza wyników badań eksploatacyjnych oraz literaturowy przegląd zagadnienia wykazały, że problematyka wyznaczenia optymalnej liczby kryteriów oceny jakości działania danego systemu transportowego jest istotnym i aktualnym zagadnieniem, mającym bezpośredni wpływ na wynik realizowanej oceny. Całość rozważań dokonano na podstawie analizy danych pozyskanych z badań zrealizowanych w rzeczywistym systemie autobusowego transportu miejskiego, świadczącego usługi transportowe w 500 tysięcznej aglomeracji miejskiej. Na podstawie zrealizowanych badań, wyznaczono zbiór kryteriów oceny systemu. Niniejsze kryteria poddano ocenie z punktu widzenia ich istotności na jakość działania obiektu badań, dokonując ich podziału na cztery grupy, w zależności od preferencji i wymogów kierowców, pasażerów oraz pracowników podsystemu sterowania i zapewnienia zdatności. W celu optymalizacji wymiarowości rozpatrywanego zbioru kryteriów, zastosowano metodę głównych czynników, która polega na porównaniu wyróżnionych zbiorów parami, i na tej podstawie ustaleniu korelacji między ich elementami. W wyniku zrealizowanych badań wnioskowano o liczności i istotności zbioru analizowanych kryteriów. Na tej podstawie wyróżniono zbiór kryteriów, które w dalszym etapie realizowanych prac, uwzględniono w procesie budowy modelu wynikowego oceny jakości działania systemu transportowego.
The analysis of experimental tests and a literature review have revealed that the problems connected with determining the optimal number of criteria for of a given transportation system operation quality assessment is an issue of great importance as it has a direct influence on the result of the assessment. The whole study has been performed on the basis of an analysis of data obtained from tests carried out in a real busses transportation system providing services in an urban agglomeration of 500 thousand inhabitants. On the basis of the carried out tests, a set of criteria for assessment of the system, were developed. These criteria were evaluated from the point of view of their influence on the research object operation quality, being divided into four groups, depending on preferences and requirements of drivers, passengers, and workers of the subsystem of control and serviceability ensuring. In order to optimize dimensionality of the considered set of criteria, the method of analysis of main components, involving a comparison of identified pairs of sets in order to find correlation between their elements, was used. In result of the tests the number and significance of these sets were established. On the basis of this, a set of criteria was identified. They were used in further analysis and taken into consideration while building a resultant model for a transport system operation quality assessment.

The analysis of results of experimental tests and a literature survey of the issue reveal that the subject matter connected with determination of the optimal number of a given transportation system operation assessment criteria has a direct influence on the result of the considered assessment. The analysis was made within the research on operation quality of a selected transportation system. In order to optimize the analysed system assessment criteria, a theoretical description has been made and an example of canonical correlations application has been presented. Analysis of canonical correlations involves determination of linear combination parameters of the studied sets so that the obtained correlation coefficient will have maximal value. In the successive step, the next pair of linear combination are not correlated with the combinations determined in the first step. The determined correlations can measure the power of relation between two sets of variables and are useful in the process of choosing significant criteria for a given research object operation quality assessment.

The analysis of results of experimental tests and a literature survey on the issue reveal that the subject matter connected with determination of the optimal number of a given transportation system operation assessment criteria has a direct influence on the result of the considered assessment. Whole study has been made on the basis of the analysis of data obtained from tests performed in a real municipal transportation system, providing transport tasks in a 400 thousand urban agglomeration. On the basis of the tests, there was determined a set of sixteen criteria for the system operation assessment, depending on preferences of drivers, passengers, workers of the system providing vehicles with serviceability and the last group of results is a final assessment. The research involved tests of significance for correlation coefficients between the assessment criteria. The method of main factors involving analysis of a linear transformation of existing vector of variables X into Y has been used to study the task dimensioning. Proper values, providing basis for determination of a new space correspond to coordinates of the newly created vector Y. On this basis, the dimension of the criteria and their significance space has been concluded. The determined criteria have been accepted for the development of a resultant model for assessment of a transportation system operation quality.

Opis:
Currently, accurate activity planning and operating become to be the most important tasks of the factory management. Main reason of that is a consumer market which force flexibility and ability to quick response on fast changeable demand and supply. In such environment, the operation planning process has to integrate data from all parts of factory activity. It is very difficult task especially in case of the industrial objects. To create the optimal or suboptimal manufacturing plan an optimisation technique should be implemented. The paper presents an idea and the object model of the computerized system designed to integrate the data of the power plant operation. The system, using genetic algorithms, generates optimal plan of production. The implementation of the system in the biggest hard coal fired power plant in Poland decreased the costs of the energy generation.
Obecnie jednym z najważniejszych celów zarządzania eksploatacją obiektu przemysłowego jest właściwe planowanie procesów użytkowania i obsługi. Jest to spowodowane potrzebami wolnego rynku wymuszającymi elastyczność i szybkozmienność produkcji. Przy takim podejściu niezbędnym jest uwzględnienie w procesie planowania informacji dotyczących wszystkich podsystemów składających się na system eksploatacyjny obiektu przemysłowego. Jednocześnie w celu opracowania optymalnego lub suboptymalnego planu koniecznym jest zastosowanie wybranej techniki optymalizacyjnej. W opracowaniu przedstawiono obiektowy model zintegrowanego systemu komputerowego nadzorującego pracę całego systemu eksploatacyjnego przedsiębiorstwa produkcyjnego. Zaprezentowany system umożliwia opracowanie optymalnego lub suboptymalnego planu eksploatacji przy użyciu algorytmów genetycznych.

Systems of transport means operational use are such systems whose main goal is to carry out transport tasks on an assigned territory. In each transport system assurance of the used transport means availability, viewed as the object capability to accomplish the transport task, is of great importance. A certain number of damages results from natural wear of transport means elements which is a natural phenomenon, whereas other damages can be caused by in effective repair of the previous damage. In this way, within a short time, there occur the so called repetitive damages to the repaired element. This reflects improper organization of repairs, poor skills of the maintenance workers, limitations connected with wrong diagnosing before and after the repair. Damages occurring during means of transport operation involve bearing considerable costs while assuring the transport means operational reliability, as well as covering the losses connected with impossibility to accomplish the transport task. Finding out the causes of in effective repairs would reduce the costs that a transport company has to bear to provide efficient operation of means of transport. Times of resultant repairs and being unftt for use have been analyzed, as well as costs of repairs, spare parts, maintenance and operation.

In this paper there has been developed a method for the transport system operation quality assessment. The concept of the transport system quality has been defined. There has also been described the proposed evaluation method and the process of an assessment model construction. Basic features of the metrical space have been characterized and a proposition o f a system operation quality evaluation metrics has been presented. Also, studies concerning the choice of assessment criteria and distinction of the most signiflcant set of features accepted for the resultant model of the examined transport system operation quality, have been presented. It should be emphasized that using the presented method it is possible to make an assessment of the same system, in different times, with the assumption that the rating is performed on the basis of homogenous criteria, and with the use of a set of the same features, distinguished for the deser iption of the research object.

This paper presents theoretical basis for evaluation of the transport system operation quality. A general evaluation model was built, and further part of the paper is to consider the theme of damageability of the means of transport, as a reliability feature, constituting one of the most important criterion to evaluate the transport system operation. Based on the analysed references in question as well as on the results of our own research it has been found that the damages to the means of transport, being utilised within the transport systems, are a result of interaction of various forcing factors. Some number of the damages results from natural wear of the means of transport elements, which is a natural phenomenon, while the remaining damages may be caused by an inefficient repair of the previous damage. This leads to so called secondary damages to the repaired element, occurred within a short time interval, which is a proof of inappropriate organization of the repairs, poor training level of the repairing teams, limits related to pre and after repair diagnosis, which directly affects reliability of the means of transport and consequently the operation quality of the transport systems in which they are being operated and maintained. Based on the analysis of the investigation results it has been found that the primary damages are independent on one another and they occur randomly. The secondary damages are dependent, because their occurrence depends on prior occurrence of the primary damage and the effect of its improper repair or improper repair of the next secondary damage.

Continuous and dynamic development of freight transports, especially in the road sector, results in generation of negative effects on the environment and poses hazards to human health and life and by generating high costs it creates significant economic, social and environmental problems. Therefore, it is necessary to take actions aiming at promotion of development of sustainable and efficient transport systems, integrating different transport branches and technologies. Such requirements are fulfilled by the subsystem of inter-mode transport system, that is, combined transport which is an alternative for a traditional road transport, and can also play a very important role in achieving goals of the European policy for sustainable development of transport. Its promotion can largely contribute to solving present and future problems connected with transport in Europe through relieving excessively loaded roads from a certain portion of freight transports which will result in improvement in the traffic safety and reduction of its negative impact on the humans and the environment. Providing high quality of inter-mode transport operation, especially in terms of reliability, punctuality, safety and keeping delivery terms depends on the infrastructure state, modern equipment of terminals and efficiency and effectiveness of their functioning. It should be emphasized that promoting inter-mode transport provides social benefits on a big scale as shifting a part of international road transports into a combined one inter-mode can have a significant influence on reduction of the road transport external harmful effects. In this paper, there has been made an analysis and assessment of inter-mode transports in Poland, taking into consideration the motor and railway (linear and point) infrastructure. Also, a suggestion concerning the location and construction of terminals for the service of inter-mode transports has been considered. Moreover, a technical-economic analysis of implementation of the discussed solution purposefulness has been made as well.

This paper deals with the problems connected with evaluation of a technical system and its being later used for decision making in order to provide complex technical systems with appropriate operation quality. The research object is a real municipal transportation system. The assessment quality of the systems operation is based on the changes of the systems features values. The features describe the operation of the systems operators, controlled technical objects and the environment influence. The assessment and the support the demand quality of the systems operation from the safety, efficiency, economic and reliability point of view is the basic factor of the executed exploitation process. The notion of a system operation quality has been defined, a scheme of an assessment model has been presented and a random process, providing the basis for evaluation of a technical system, has been developed. On the basis of carried out experimental tests there have been distinguished four states of a system operation quality reflecting intervals of values of grades that were characteristic for given time moments. A model of system operation qualitative state changes, based on Markov chain, has been considered in this paper. A system of equations has been determined for a distinguished Markov chain on the basis of which a mathematical model for assessment and control of selected types of transportation systems will be developed.

This study presents an analysis and evaluation of application of European Car Modular Systems in the Polish road transport. Those systems and respective terminology have been analysed and classified. Application of such systems in other countries of the European Union has been described. SWAT analysis has also been carried out in order to enable the most optimal choice of modular system in freight transport to match the condition and characteristics of the Polish road infrastructure. The systems have also been analysed in terms of efficiency and the analysis was performed on the basis of a selected research object – a transport company. An analysis of costs and estimated profits from transport services to be provided by those systems has been carried out on the basis of the research object in comparison with costs borne by the considered company with currently used transport means. This study shows that taking into consideration the results of analyses, safety aspect, road infrastructure and energy efficiency of the vehicles it was found that the proposed oversized vehicles could be implemented to be used on the Polish roads. The analyses and tests performed for a transport logistic company discussed in this article have demonstrated that the proposed modular systems will undoubtedly allow reducing significantly the costs of transport services by increasing load capacity of vehicles.

Opis:
The basis of a transport system operation is accomplishment of set goals in specified conditions, place quantity and time. From an analysis of the literature it results that the reasearch on these systems operation quality is crucial for the processes of service - repair, control, fuel supply and diagnosis, especially for machines and dvices used in them. The discussed systems are classified as socio-technical ones of the type (human-machine-environment), including the transport system which is the research object of this paper. On the basis of the authors' own experimental tests results and identification of processes which take palce in the research object, a method for assessment of such transport systems operation quality has been presented in the article. The authors of the paper have made an attempt to develop a model for assessment of undesirable impact of actions of people present in the system and its environment.
Podstawą działania systemów transportowych jest realizacja postawionych im celów w określonych warunkach, miejscu, ilości i czasie. Z analizy literatury przedmiotowej wynika, że badanie jakości funkcjonowania tych systemów, stanowi jeden z podstawowych czynników w procesach obsługowo - naprawczych, sterowania, zasilania, diagnozowania a w szczególności użytkowania eksploatowanych w nich maszyn i urządzeń. Omawiane systemy, zalicza się do systemów socjotechnicznych typu (człowiek - maszyna - otoczenie), wśród których wyróżnić można system transportowy, stanowiący w niniejszym opracowaniu obiekt badań. Na podstawie wyników własnych badań eksploatacyjnych oraz identyfikacji procesów realizowanych w obiekcie badań, w opracowaniu przedstawiono metodę oceny jakości działania takich systemów. Jako przykład zastosowania opracowanej metody ocenowej, w pracy podjęto próbę budowy modelu oceny niepożądanych oddziaływań ludzi, usytuowanych w systemie i jego otoczeniu.

The article deals with the problems connected with road traffic safety highlighting driver’s ability to notice an untypical obstacle in the light of low beam headlights while driving in the night. Visibility of an unlit object during the night is not only related to its motion but also to the necessity of its being lit to up to the required minimum height. On the basis of a study of a road accident, it was found that the standards accepted in reconstruction of the accident for determination of the light beam height to be used for lighting an obstacle should not be taken for granted. The driver’s surprise at the sight of an unlit obstacle is accompanied with the need to direct the light beam higher, which causes shortening of the distance available for a driver to react in an attempt to avoid hitting into an obstacle. An analysis of this case shows that verification of road accidents involving a crash with an untypical, incompatible obstacle that happen during the night needs to be carried out with attention and care. A simulation program V-SIM4 version and Ratschbacher AutoView database was used for calculation of the possibility to avoid an accident. The results obtained on the basis of the authors own investigations can also be used in information campaigns, education for road safety improvement and development of proper attitudes of the road traffic users.

The study deals with the issue of durability extension of multi-phase gears working under temporary or constant loading. The tests were performed for transmission oils used in power transmission systems of beet washers of DC type used in sugar plants. The lubricity parameters of oils and the possibilities of their modification through introduction of low-friction additives to the oil were studied. Additionally, the noise level emitted by working gears was measured before and after addition of the modifier. Lubricity tests were performed on semi-Timken apparatus, on which friction pairs friction roller- roller were tested with the use of oils extracted from the gear. SoundMeter application with MIC002 microphone adaptor was used for measurement of the noise level emission. Tests results have confirmed efficiency of the modifiers as higher values of friction loading were obtained and the noise emission level was reduced. It has been proven that in real operation systems, there is a possibility to increase the value of transmission oil lubricity parameters, which has a direct impact on durability of friction pairs of a gear during its operation.

The primary subject of research is the procedure leading to safe, efficient, reliable and timely completion of transport tasks. The tasks, assigned to the transport system, are carried out by an operative subsystem, comprised of elementary subsystems of the man – technical object (operator-vehicle) type. The timely and safe completion of the tasks is influenced by the level of availability and reliability of elementary subsystems. Those in control of the process of the use of means of transport (vehicles) should undertake control decisions in such a way that would correctly evaluate the efficiency of process completion. In the area of public transport, technical availability of buses constitutes an important criterion of the evaluation of transport system. As a result, the transport company should provide continuous surveillance of the process of vehicle use in order to achieve running availability of the whole system. The requirements expected from devices and machines used head towards servicing via preventive method taking into account the technical condition of the system. Such an approach is a transformation towards technical system servicing process management. Correct completion of transport tasks is possible when the required traffic safety is met, taking into consideration the technical condition of the means of transport. The municipal transport systems should ensure the quality of the services provided to meet the expectations of the users. In the set of characteristics of the researched transport system, the following ones stand out: regularity, availability, reliability, course frequency, travel comfort, timeliness, speed, service complexity, competitive cost of transport service, and safety.

Opis:
Transport systems, especially transport means operated by them, generate different types of threats: peoples' health and life threat and natural environment degradation threat. Operating factors affecting elements of technical objects cause negative value changes of these elements resulting in their failure. These factors include those which result from improper behavior of people and those connected with the environmental impact affecting the technical object. Failure is a circumstance which significantly decreases the vehicle reliability and efficiency. In this study, a failure is referred to as exceeding permitted boundary values by significant features of the technical object. On the basis of performed practical tests concerning times of a failure occurrence it was found that the set of failures can be divided into subsets of primary and secondary ones. Tests results revealed that the cause of occurrence of secondary failures are usually incorrect performance of primary repairs. Primary repairs are independent on each other and occur randomly. Secondary failures, in turn, are related to each other and their occurrence is conditioned by an earlier occurrence of a primary failure and the effect of its improper repair or a repair of a successive secondary one. Therefore, assurance of high efficiency of repairs performed on the transport means is of great importance as this affects the level of reliability, safety and efficiency of transport tasks.
Systemy transportowe, a w szczególności środki transportu w nich eksploatowane, są źródłem różnego rodzaju zagrożeń: życia i zdrowia ludzi oraz degradacji środowiska naturalnego. Czynniki eksploatacyjne oddziałujące na elementy obiektów technicznych wywołują niekorzystne zmiany wartości istotnych cech elementów powodując ich uszkodzenia. Wśród czynników wymuszających można wyróżnićczynniki wynikające z niewłaściwego działania człowieka oraz wynikające z oddziaływań otoczenia na obiekty techniczne. Uszkodzenia są zdarzeniami, które mają istotny wpływ na obniżanie niezawodności i efektywności działania pojazdów. W opracowaniu, uszkodzenie zdefiniowano, jako przekroczenie dopuszczalnych wartości granicznych przez istotne cechy opisujące obiekt techniczny. Na podstawie zrealizowanych badań eksploatacyjnych, dotyczących chwil wystąpienia uszkodzeń stwierdzono, że zbiór uszkodzeń można podzielić na podzbiory uszkodzeń pierwotnych oraz wtórnych. Wyniki badań wykazały, że przyczyną powstawania uszkodzeń wtórnych są, z reguły, niewłaściwie realizowane naprawy uszkodzeń pierwotnych. Uszkodzenia pierwotne są niezależne od siebie i występują w sposób losowy. Uszkodzenia wtórne natomiast są zależne od siebie, ponieważ ich występowanie jest uwarunkowane wcześniejszym wystąpieniem uszkodzenia pierwotnego i skutkiem niewłaściwej jego naprawy lub niewłaściwej naprawy kolejnego uszkodzenia wtórnego. W związku z tym, istotnym problemem jest zapewnienie wysokiej skuteczności realizowanych napraw środków transportu, które wpływają na poziom niezawodności, bezpieczeństwa oraz efektywności realizowanych przewozów transportowych. W niniejszym opracowaniu przedstawiono badania eksploatacyjne oraz symulacyjne wpływu eliminowania uszkodzeń wtórnych eksploatowanych środków transportowych, na efektywność i niezawodnośćdziałania badanego systemu transportowego.

The study deals with the problems connected with evaluation and analysis of transport systems operational quality. The research object is a real, sociotechnical system (of the type H-M-E) whose functional quality is affected by: operators, equipment and technical state of he operated vehicles and the environmental impact. A scheme of an assessment model was built on the basis of a developed concept of a system operational quality and a random process was defined to be used for the analysis. The assessment process involves investigating the variability degree of properties included in the resultant model in a given time and determining whether and to what degree the obtained values meet the requirements of the system appropriate operational quality. On the basis of the above assumptions and in result of experimental tests, four qualitative states of a transport system functioning, which represent intervals of values of the obtained grades in given time moments, were distinguished. The study presents a model of system operation qualitative state changes developed with the use of Markov chain inserted into a certain semi-Markov process. A graph and a matrix for probability of transition between the states were created and boundary distributions of the process were determined on the basis of experimentally obtained data. A system of equations was determined for the distinguished Markov chain, on the basis of which a mathematical model for assessment and control of operational quality of selected types of transport systems will be built.

Road safety is an important social issue. Hence, changes in road traffic rules have a large influence on travel safety improvement. One of the major issues to be addressed is the speed limit of motor vehicles and radar speed measurements. Moreover, road traffic rules impose the obligation to wear safety belts during driving, carrying children in car safety seats and they put a ban on drink driving as well as driving under the influence of other intoxicating substances that have a negative influence on the driver’s physical condition and driving skills. This study analyses changes in traffic rules and provides assessment of the way they affect road traffic safety in Poland. The study presents an analysis of the issues connected with road vehicle operation and safety of the passengers including: wearing safety seat belts, use of children car safety seats, vehicle lighting, speed limit. Such issues as the proposed changes in breathalyzer use and implementation of safety systems to provide road users with safety have been addressed.

This article deals with the modeling of the processes of operating both marine main and auxiliary engines. The paper presents a model of changes in operating conditions of ship’s internal combustion engine. The semi-Markov decision process was used to mathematically describe the process model of the engine. The developed model describes the effect of engine damage on the characteristics of its operation. A change in the input parameters of the model can simulate the influence of internal and external factors on the course of the analyzed process. A simplified calculation example is also presented for illustration purposes. The presented method together with developed algorithms and IT tools can be used to solve a wide range of problems related to the operation of marine main engines and other marine equipment as well as maritime and port facilities. This concerns primarily the economic, risk management and operational security issues of complex technical systems, as well as the readiness and reliability analysis of technical facilities.

An analysis of experimental tests and a literature survey of the issue revealed that the problems connected with assessment of costs and effectiveness of transport means repairs has a significant influence on their operation efficiency. Operating factors affecting the elements of technical objects cause negative changes in their features resulting in failures. The failures are referred to as events which significantly impair the vehicle operation efficiency, safety and reliability. On the basis of experimental tests concerning times of failures occurrence, it was found that the set of failures can be divided into subsets of primary and secondary failures. The tests results revealed that the most frequent cause of secondary failures occurrence was improperly performed primary repairs. Primary failures are not related to each other and they appear randomly. However, secondary failures are related to each other as their occurrence is conditioned by the primary failure and results from an inappropriate performance of the successive secondary failure. Basing on an analysis of the author 's own tests results, it was established that failures of transport means used in real transport systems are the effect of impact of various forcing factors. Some failures result from the natural wear of machine elements, whereas, other failures can be caused by inappropriate repair of the previous damage. Thus, there occur the so called secondary failures in a short period of time. In connection with this, high efficiency of the repair performance is of primary importance as it largely affects efficiency of transport tasks accomplishment. In this article, there has been discussed a method developed for assessment of repair costs connected with elimination of secondary failures and its influence on the studied transport system operation efficiency. Familiarity with available technologies for repairs of primary failures as well as with costs of work and costs connected with technical equipment of the repair stations enables specification of the lowest costs necessary for reduction of the number of secondary failures and the average time of their repairs.

Selection and determination of assessment criteria is of great importance for evaluation of the system operation quality. The analysis was made within the research on operation quality of a selected transportation system. This was a real system, operating purposefully, providing passengers with transport tasks, over an assigned urban area and suburbs, according to an established schedule. Such a system of operation is affected by the behaviour of people, functioning of transport means and the environmental impact. On the basis of performed tests, a set of criteria, whose fulfilment degree is crucial for functioning of the analyzed system, has been determined. It must be remembered, though those particular criteria are diversified in terms of their significance for the transportation system assessment. Therefore, the analytic hierarchy process AHP has been applied in this work, in order to establish significance of particular criteria, from the point of view of the set quality requirements for the studied transportation system. The analytic hierarchy process has been used in the papers concerning the problems of quality control and assessment of transportation systems. It is one of several tools supporting the process of selection of the most significant criteria aiming at reduction of the considered vector dimensionality and establishing a set of features, accepted for an assessment of the research object operation quality, while building the resultant model.

This study deals with the problems connected with evaluation of technical systems efficiency of particular transport systems. The main goal of such a system operation is its effective functioning, through rational control of its particular activities and subsequent processes. A literature analysis of the definition of the efficiency term has been made. A real transport system has been accepted to be the research object. The system belongs to the group of sociotechnical systems in which evaluation of its operation efficiency depends on performance of operators, transport means and the impact of environmental factors. Criteria and methods of operation efficiency evaluation have been determined in this study as well as assessment indexes for transport systems. It has been shown that evaluation of a repair efficiency has a large influence on the efficiency of the whole system operation, especially the influence of secondary failure repairs, on the values of particular efficiency indexes. A semi-markov model of operation and maintenance of transport means used in the research object has been developed. This model provides the basis for evaluation of the influence of the processes involved in preparing transport means for service on the system operation efficiency. Moreover, the research also describes how to verify the developed model and present its simulation tests. The study is summarized with conclusions formulated based on the evaluation of the influence of the operation and maintenance processes on the investigated transport system operation efficiency.

Ship large-power steam boiler may serve as an example of complex critical technical system. A basis for rational control of operation of such system is knowledge on its capability of fulfilling the tasks to which it was intended. In order to make it possible to apply computer aiding to operational decision-making the capability should be described analytically. In this paper it was proposed to express the capability of ship steam boiler ( considered a complex system) to perform service tasks, by calculating components of its usability potential in a given instant t. To this end , was distinguished a set of steam boiler fundamental features which formulate space of its technical states. Values and characteristic intervals of the features were defined and this way sub-spaces of serviceability and non-serviceability states of the object in question were determined. Next, in the considered space, technical state of the boiler and its usability potential was determined. Owing to this it become possible to quantitatively express the steam boiler functioning capability which served as a basis for elaborating an algorithm for controlling the operational processes of a complex technical system under action. In this paper is also described a way of application of the presented method to calculation of ship steam boiler usability potential, which may be especially instrumental in the case of operational control of the boilers of the kind , equipped with interstage reheaters, i.e. those operating with high values of operational parameters.

A correctly designed machine is characteristic of low vibration values. However wear processes occur during its operation. They are accompanied by a lack of balance of its rotating parts and elements, which results in non-coaxiality of shafts. For this reason energy and dynamic load resulting from machine vibrations grows. In this case cause and effect are mutually connected by feedback, that inevitably leads to occurrence of a failure. This paper presents results of investigations carried out on the basis of vibration analysis of propulsion systems installed on 207P minesweepers. In view of specific features of their operation it is very important to ensure high level of reliability for them. For this reason was done an attempt to develop a method intended for identifying non-coaxiality of shaft line systems of engines propelling the ships. 16 characteristic features of recorded vibration signals were selected. As any of them has not satisfied criteria assigned to features which unambiguously determine state of reliability of shaft line systems, the investigations have been continued and as a result a novel method for non-coaxiality identification was proposed. The method consists in determining unserviceability clusters and assumes that characteristic features are of a concentrated character. This way a non-coaxiality of main engine shaft lines of 207P minesweepers could be detected. This paper presents the proposed method and results of its application to the case in question.

Opis:
Reaching of high parameters of a drive unit and low pollution of the natural environment is considered to be the most desired effect of motorization. The use of the additive in the form of fatty acid methyl esters to the diesel oil, assumes lowering of harmful fuel gases’ emission and reaching high operating parameters of an engine, such as power and turning moment. Studies on the power output and the turning moment of an engine with self-ignition are presented in the study. The subject matter of the studies was a combustion engine with self-ignition of the power of 80 kW with the direct common rail system and turbo-compressor’s supercharging and with electromagnetic injectors. The tested engine was powered with diesel oil and the mixture of fatty acid methyl esters and the diesel fuel, in proportions 10%, 30% and 50% with an improver, at the standard settings of the fuel injection controllers. The vehicle used for the testing purposes, has been singled out with respect to the specific features, such as: universality of its use as a means of transportation and the opportunity of modification of the injection parameters, resistance to possible unfavourable consequences resulting from the use of the fuel mixture. The studies were conducted on a chassis test house, at full engine’s loading. The vehicle placed on the test house’s rollers, was strapped with belts to the foundation, and then accelerated up to the specific speed and subjected to loading standing in place. In such a manner, the road conditions were simulated. The obtained results of the tests were subject to the statistical analysis. From their analysis it results, that application of the mixture lowers the engine’s parameters to a degree unnoticeable at the time of its operation.

The article presents the results of laboratory tests of selected properties of fuels available on the market and fuels with higher density component B100 obtained from rapeseed oil (10, 30, 50 and 100%). An analysis of the cetane number, viscosity, and weight of the ash remaining after combustion of fuel samples was made. It was found that the cetane number of pure biocomponent is higher than diesel oil of mineral origin and it slowly decreased along with a decrease in the Extras component. All tested samples of fuels have appropriate cetane number to power internal combustion engines with compression ignition. The viscosity of the fuel samples measured at a temperature of 30ºC increased along with an increase in the content of biocomponent and approached the limit values for fuels. According to the results presented by other authors in their studies ash mass decreased along with an increase in the content of the component. Only premium diesel showed less ash mass than other fuel. The study includes also the energy value and the calorific value of liquid fuels with addition of a biocomponent, which power diesel engines. The results of the tests indicate a slight decrease in the calorific value of the fuel along with an increase in the content of biocomponent, which does not affect the ability to power the engines. Laboratory tests have proved that use of methyl esters of fatty acids in diesel fuel is the right choice to power diesel engines.

The study deals with the results of operational tests of gear oils used in a regional railway transport system. The character of the aging process and the impact of gear oil operation on the main factors determining further usability of gear oil have been defined on the basis of the results of carried out tests. It was proved that transport systems lack reliable convenient diagnostic methods for gear oil used during the process of operation. One of the criteria taken into consideration in decision-making is the period of oil change imposed by the gear manufacturer. The long process of oil application is accompanied by physicochemical changes, which cause degradation of its properties. This phenomenon is referred to as oil aging. This fact can cause loss of viscosity, increase in the amount of pollution, and in effect a decrease in the ability to provide a durable boundary film. The lubricating ability of oil decreases as well. An increase in the amount of pollution is caused by interaction of the collaborating friction elements and by pollutants coming from the gear environment. These changes are of permanent character and reflect the state of new characteristics referred to as operational characteristics. Gear oils have a certain lubricating ability, which is a critical parameter. This study is an attempt to find a way of the oil service life extension and convince the propulsion systems manufacturers that reduction of costs connected with rail vehicle maintenance does make sense.

Every year in Poland, approximately 22 million tons of dangerous materials is transported, which, apart from the German railway, places it on the second position in Europe. The most numerous group of dangerous materials include items of class 3 (liquid, flammable materials), especially liquid fuels. In order to prevent accidents and remove their effects, the European Union countries have developed an international code regulating transport of dangerous materials by railway, RID. Every year 110 billion ton kilometres of dangerous materials are transported on the territory of the EU. Materials carried by road transport account for 58%, by railway 25% and by water 17% of all the transported dangerous products. Transport of dangerous materials accounts for 8% of all freight transports in the European Union. Having in view natural environment protection and safety of people, there are carried out works on one legal act to account for all the three transport branches. Railway transports of dangerous materials are performed in a safe way and rare, in terms of the transports number, accidents and failures do not cause harmful effects, neither on people nor the natural environment. In the paper, there has been made an analysis of transport procedures and threats which occur while carrying dangerous materials. On the basis of carried out investigations an assessment of the risk factor in the studied process has been presented. General rules for transport of dangerous materials by railway and their classification have been presented, markings according to RDI regulations. An attempt of threats identification and analysis of the maim causes of undesirable events occurrence during railway transport of dangerous materials has been made by the authors of this work.
