Opis:
Israel is perceived in the international environment as one of the top leaders in innovation. This is proven by the progressively high position of this country in international rankings and the participation of Israeli scientists and technologists in prestigious international programs. In this article, we claim that the aims of Israeli innovation policy, which has the biggest impact on the shape and content of the innovation ecosystem, are highly politicized. The status quo driven by the key assumption of the state strategy, according to which obtaining a competitive predominance in the political international environment will be achieved through economic instruments, primarily technological innovation. Therefore the aim of this article is to critically analyze Israeli innovation policy and the innovation ecosystem, paying special attention to the state interest and the government activities in this realm. For the purpose of this analysis, some basic assumptions of the neoliberal economy redefined by Arie Krampf will be utilized. Furthermore, to better describe and explain the link between politics and economy in the Israeli innovation ecosystem we will refer to the K.N. Waltz considerations on mechanisms of the political and economic system in a globalizing world.

The results of the research on motives for undertaking studies on Education in Technology and Computer Science in AGH UST were presented at this article. Different aspects connected with choice of studies were discussed, among others time of making decision, used sources of information, motives by which candidates were guided choosing the university and field of study.

Dookreślenie obiektu badań wymaga poza tym zajęcia stanowiska co do założeń epistemologicznych. To jednak wymaga oddzielnego opracowania.
The study pointed to the broad lines of thinking in the field of research methodology the complex issues of border and interaction techniques, education and science. Specification of the research object requires besides taking a position as to the epistemological assumptions. This, however, requires a separate study.

W artykule przedstawiono model „kulturowej transmisji stereotypu płci”, za którego pomocą można skutecznie tłumaczyć olbrzymią dysproporcję kobiet w stosunku do mężczyzn studiujących na kierunkach humanistycznych i społecznych oraz mężczyzn wobec kobiet – na kierunkach technicznych i ścisłych. Model testowano na podstawie danych zgromadzonych od 1373 studentów (681 kobiet) I roku studiów technicznych/ścisłych (n = 637) i humanistycznych/społecznych (n = 700). Wybór kierunku studiów objaśniano, wiążąc za pomocą funkcji logitowej zmienną objaśnianą z następującymi predyktorami: (1) wpływ rodziców; (2) wpływ nauczycieli; (3) egalitarne vs szowinistyczne poglądy uczestników badania; (4) oczekiwania rodziców; (5) oczekiwania nauczycieli; (6) autooczekiwania studentów; (7) czas nauki języka ojczystego; (8) czas nauki matematyki; (9) wynik testu maturalnego z języka ojczystego i (10) wynik testu maturalnego z matematyki, oddzielnie w grupie kobiet i mężczyzn. Uzyskane wyniki przedyskutowano w ramach teorii stereotypizacji, stygmatyzacji i efektów oczekiwań interpersonalnych występujących w różnych grupach społecznych i demograficznych.
The article presents the model of „cultural transmission of gender stereotype” by which the huge disparity of women toward men studying humanities and social sciences as well as men toward women studying technology and sciences could be explained. The model was tested using the data collected from 1373 students (681 women) of the first year of technology or science (n = 637) and humanities or social sciences (n = 700). Selection of a field of studies was explained by using the logit function to combine dependent variable with the following predictors: (1) the impact of parents; (2) the impact of teachers; (3) an egalitarian vs. sexist attitude of respondents; (4) parents’ expectations; (5) teachers’ expectations; (6) students’ expectations about themselves; (7) amount of time dedicated to learning math; (8) amount of time dedicated to learning native language; (9) results of the high school final exam in math (and entrance exam to college at the same time) and (10) results of the high school final exam in native language (and entrance exam to college at the same time), separately for the group of women and men. The obtained results are discussed in the light of stereotyping and stigmatization theories, and interpersonal expectation effects which occur in various social and demographic groups.

In 2021, the Space Systems Laboratory of the University of Pisa (UniPi) started a student-oriented high-altitude ballooning programme intended to provide an opportunity for hands-on experience in support of the teaching of scientific and technical courses. The programme provides mentoring on scientific, technical and management issues, along with financial support and assistance with integration and launch on a sounding balloon platform. The goal is to conduct flying experiments in the stratosphere, retrieve them after landing and process the results; by doing so, the students experience all phases of a scientific mission project, from conceptual design to realisation, operations and post-flight analysis. Following a call for proposal open to all students of the UniPi across all study areas, three experiments were selected featuring multidisciplinary teams. This paper summarises the features of the programme’s first edition and presents the main lessons learned.

Opis:
Accelerator science and technology is one of a key enablers of the developments in the particle physics, photon physics, electronics and photonics, also applications in medicine and industry. The paper presents a digest of the research results in accelerators in Europe, shown during the third annual meeting of the EuCARD - European Coordination of Accelerator Research and Development. EuCARD concerns building of research infrastructure, including advanced photonic and electronic systems for servicing large high energy physics experiments. There are debated a few basic groups of such systems like: measurement - control networks of large extent, multichannel systems for metrological data acquisition, precision photonic networks for reference time distribution.
