Opis:
In the education industry, it is critical to understand the expectations of students concerning providing the best educational experience. Thus, in higher education institutions (HEI) the adoption of customer-oriented approaches in the management practice is widespread. The customer-oriented approach regarding students as customers has been discussed in academic literature from several perspectives. However, it has been rarely studied from the point of view of comparing public and private universities. The presented study tried to apply a student-customer orientation questionnaire (SCOQ) to investigate differences between student expectations of their educational experience in public vs. private universities. The sample consisted of 238 undergraduate students in Indonesia’s higher education institutions. The study found interesting differences within the student-customer-oriented variables between university types in terms of graduation, curriculum design, communication with service staff, classroom studies, individual studies and course design.

Opis:
Purpose: of this paper was to analyse clinicians’ views on the management and handling procedures of the Biodentine tricalcium silicate cement with the following evaluation of the real setting time of the material with two independent physical tests. Design/methodology/approach: A survey study included 174 clinicians who answered the questionnaire designed to collect opinions on the Biodentine management during endodontic procedures. To verify the setting time of the cement, two independent hardness tests were performed. Macroscopic evaluation was carried out using the Vicat device. Microscopic assessment with subsequent SEM observation was conducted with the aid of the Clemex appliance. Findings: 43% of respondents using Biodentine in their practice described the setting time as long or definitively too long. One fifth of the dentists surveyed continue dental procedures without waiting. The setting time tests confirmed the existence of two phases of the Biodentine setting process, which corresponds to the general definition of cement setting. After mixing of the material, the initial setting stage lasts for 15 minutes. The next one, described by the authors as “maturation” of Biodentine lasts for 120 minutes. Research limitations/implications: The material initially sets within 15 minutes, however it is not the end of the process. In certain endodontic procedures the awareness of a longer setting time of Biodentine is essential for decision-making in root canal therapy. Practical implications: It is advisable to divide the endodontic treatment with Biodentine into two separate appointments. Originality/value: From the clinicians’ perspective the setting time and correct handling of Biodentine are crucial factors in the successful endodontic therapy. The information regarding proper material management is included in this paper

Opis:
Introduction: Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) is used in treatment of idiopathic nephrotic syndrome in children (INS). Purpose: To evaluate clinical results of MMF treatment in steroid-dependent (SD) and steroid-resistant (SR) nephrotic syndrome. Materials and methods: A retrospective analysis of 26 patients (19 boys, 7 girls) with SDINS and SRINS treated with MMF during the years 2003–2013 was made. The remission length of INS and number of relapses per year before the introduction of MMF and after 12 months was calculated. An analysis of the side effects was made. Results: The median age of INS diagnosis was 26.5 months (IQRs 24-36 months). Nineteen of the patients (73%) suffered from SDINS whereas the remaining 7 (27%) had SRINS. Twenty three (88.5%) patients underwent renal biopsy: minimal change disease (MCD) in 69.6% (n=16), focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) in 17.4% (n=4), membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (MPGN) in 8.7% (n=2) and mesangial cell proliferation in one case. The median MMF dosage was 956.0 mg/m2/24h (IQRs 768.1-1059.7 mg/m2/24h). Eleven patients (42.3%) were taking MMF together with cyclosporine A (CsA). In patients suffering from SDINS, there was a trend to lower the recurrence rate during MMF treatment [2.0/year (IQRs 0.25-2.0 per year) vs 2.0/year (IQRs 1.0-2.75 per year), p=0.09]. Remission without proteinuria was significantly longer in patients treated with MMF; remission median was 8.5 month (IQRs 6.25-11.0 month) vs 4.5 month (IQRs 4.0-7.5 month), (p=0.014), similarly the average length of remission without corticosteroids was 6.0 months (IQRs 0.25-8.5 months) vs 3.0 months (IQRs 0.0-7.25) months (p=0.028). In children SRINS, 4/7 children MMF treatment was clinically ineffective. Side effects of the treatment were: leucopenia (n =10), hyperbilirubinemia (n = 3), gastrointestinal disorders (n = 1) and anemia (n = 1). Conclusion: This study confirmed the efficacy of the treatment with MMF in SDINR in comparison with previously used drugs, with a small number of side effects.

Opis:
The Polish version of the article was published in “Roczniki Humanistyczne,” vol. 63 (2015), issue 4. The painting Ascent into Heaven (88.8 x 39.9 cm; dendrological dating: 1482–1490) kept in the Palazzo Ducale in Venice is one of the four eschatological panels (the other three are: Earthly Paradise, Fall of the Damned, Hell) which probably were in the collection of the Venetian Cardinal Domenico Grimani in the 1520s. The panels’ original arrangement and function are unknown. The paintings are not signed and their attribution to Jheronimus Bosch (c. 1450–1516 ) is based largely on the grounds of stylistic criteria. In the study, I put Ascent into Heaven into two fundamental contexts for the iconographic analysis of this work: eschatological literature and Netherlandish/ Flemish painting and in the context of near-death experiences (NDE) as well. The answer to the question posed in the title of the study must remain twofold. On the basis of the data gathered in the study, the content of the painting can be comprehended by references to the most frequently quoted sources of inspiration for Bosch: one painting by Dieric Bouts (left wing of the Last Judgement Altarpiece; Lille, Palais des Beaux Arts), two illuminations by Simon Marmion (Le livre des sept Ages du monde; Brussels, Bibliothèque royale de Belgique, Ms. 9047, fols. IV & 12r) and a literary work Dat rike der ghelieven by Jan van Ruusbroec. Its content can be equally understood by reference to the role of the painter’s imagination (categories of inventio and fantasia), using his theological and astronomical knowledge. The above line of interpretation that emphasizes the influence of biblical logosphere, takes into account undeniable religious experience of the painter from ‘s-Hertogenbosch resulting from being a member of the Church. The factor of an epistemological importance which influences the form of the answer to the title question is hypothetical non-verifiable Bosch’s personal transcendental experience, thus it becomes impossible to evaluate the translation of what is spiritual (experience) into visual (image). Due to the elusive, not fully scientific nature of NDE this phenomenon should be excluded from the final conclusion.

Opis:
Numerous studies have examined sojourners’ L2 motivation during their stay abroad. Much remains unknown about the impact of study abroad (SA) experiences on their L2 motivation after they return to the home environment. This study tracked the English learning motivation of three Chinese university students from immediately after their semester-long exchange program in an English-speaking country until six months after the sojourn. The participants were requested to complete a questionnaire and took part in an interview immediately following their re-entry and another interview six months later. The participants’ post-sojourn English learning motivation was influenced by their L2 selves and the context they were situated in. The motivational capacity of SA experiences was manifested in its profound impact on the participants’ ideal L2 self-images. Satisfactory SA experiences contributed to an ideal L2 self with higher L2 proficiency and international posture, whereas unsatisfactory experiences led to a lessening role of L2 in the participants’ future work and life. The findings also reveal that the participants’ understandings of both their positive and negative SA experiences became fossilized after the sojourn. Some practical implications were discussed for higher education institutions to optimize the post-sojourn motivational impact of SA programs.

Opis:
The main aim of this article is to examine the factors that influence the acceptance of ridesharing technologies in Polish society, including dynamic vanpooling on demand. The study was conducted using the UTAUT 2 model (Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology). We have employed statistical and econometric data analyses such as factor analysis and linear regression using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method. Based on the review of the publications on ridesharing in the context of sharing economy, we have modified the UTAUT 2 model by supplementing it with the trust factor, which is a significant contribution to the development of this theory when applied to the acceptance of ridesharing technologies. Further, the outcomes allowed us to identify the factors that influence people's attitudes in using shared-ride technology (performance expectancy, hedonistic motivation and habit) and the intention to use this technology (effort expectancy, performance expectancy, price value, habit and trust). This study has practical implications as it has helped identify the factors that affect the acceptance of ridesharing technologies in Poland and these factors are significant for the suppliers of these technologies. The findings can certainly become a starting point for further research on other communities and the application of other models of technology.

The expansion of Russian Orthodox Church’s presence in the public life of contemporary Russian society has raised a genuine interest of linguists to study the church community language. However, the use of formal logical classifications, which still prevail in Russian language studies, led, as the author of the article shows, to distorting of the essence of the object of study.

The aim of this qualitative study was to consider the question of whether the Italian political management of the pandemic respected the European bio-ethical and bio-juridical approaches in light of the principles of autonomy, dignity, integrity and vulnerability. As no specific consolidated literature exists on the subject, the Italian situation was taken into consideration, specifically the work of a spontaneous commission (DuPre) that collected the reflections of academics and researchers interested in discussing political decisions for the management of the emergency, which was the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. The analysis took into account the contributions of scholars during two conferences (without proceedings), which were transcribed and examined. From the texts processed with a thematic analysis, three main themes emerged: ‘pandemic as a state of exception, sovereignty and crisis of democracy’, ‘the value of doubt and refutation’ and ‘elimination of informed consent between persuasion and blackmail’. In this paper, the final bio-political considerations on the European approach and the management of the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy are presented.
