Opis:
A significant decrease in physical activity and a growing incidence of obesity are becoming problems of contemporary times, the economic and social costs of which we are bound to face. The systemic actions undertaken are aimed at creating space for physical activity and shaping health-oriented attitudes among children and young people. Promotion of health-oriented attitudes among children is one of the ways of preventing illnesses associated with lifestyle, and are also a significant factor influencing the condition of society and future generations. This study forms a preliminary evaluation of attitudes among primary school students in Lublin towards physical activity – its preferred forms and frequency. Moreover, the study presents a preliminary and general analysis of pain within the locomotor system in children. A survey in the form of a questionnaire was conducted in a primary school in Lublin among children at various stages of education. The questionnaire contained data about the children’s age and gender. Other questions concerned preferred forms of physical activity, its frequency and attitudes of schoolchildren to physical activity. The results obtained indicate that the majority (99%) of the children definitely like to undertake physical activity in various forms and they regard it as fun and an interesting way of spending free time. A significant share (51%) of the respondents reply that they undertake physical activity every day (apart from activities organized at school). However, the number of affirmative answers to the question about pain is worrying. The results obtained demonstrate quite a high level of physical activity among schoolchildren. However, the alarming results concerning incidences of pain (47%) point to the need for further indepth research on this area.

Opis:
This contribution is dealing with usage options of various material types for a creation of Christmas decorations at the first level of primary school. It summarizes creation from natural materials, paper, a combination of different materials as well as modelling materials. All these types of materials were tested at primary school with children. We also show here results of chil-dren's work, that they can create themselves. It comes to combining several parts during the classes, namely the promotion of the tradition of Christmas tree decorations, Christmas traditions linked to this and intersubject relations (elementary science and social studies). By creating products, we improve children´s fine motoring and with some products we support creativity.

This theoretical paper reviews the major theories and models of learning and views them in the light of two major psychological perspectives of learning; behaviorist and constructivist. The educational process has become the dominant response to challenges in all the domains of modern life. The key to a good primary education is the quality of its teachers. Quality education enables people to develop all of their attributes and skills in order to achieve their potential as human beings and members of society. A deeper understanding of the students’ behavior enables the teacher to help guide them through the educational process. Understanding development, or the long-term changes in growth, behavior, and knowledge, helps teachers to hold appropriate expectations for students as well as to keep students’ individual diversity in perspective. From kindergarten through the end of high school, students double their height, triple their weight, experience the social and hormonal effects of puberty, and improve basic motor skills.

This study was conducted to analyze the fourth grade students’ linguistic abilities allowing them to express their arguments in oral and written texts: to determine both the number of presented arguments as well as the level of their elaboration, to characterize the expression of the arguments. The recorded number of participants was 117 fourth-graders from 15 Lithuanian schools. Oral and written texts created by the students were explored in the study. The obtained results revealed that the fourth grade students were able to voice their opinion on at least one argument when they created an oral or written text on a familiar topic and context. Approximately one-quarter of the study participants were able to present more than three arguments. No significant differences were found between oral and written argumentations with regard to quantity of the arguments. A qualitative analysis of the spoken and written texts indicates that the fourth grade students can use generalized statements (unelaborated secondary statements), they rely on examples and sources. It has also been observed that the study participants’ abilities to develop arguments differ considerably. Their very diverse, even contrasting abilities demonstrate the necessity for developing/updating the curriculum content that would focus more on argumentation.

The article presents the results of the research showing Polish teachers’ knowledge and experiences concerning organising outdoor education of children. The research searched for answers to the following questions: How do teachers define outdoor education? Where do they derive knowledge about it from? Do they take into account spaces and places other than the school building in the education process? What methods and forms of work with a child do they prefer? What factors facilitate and which make it difficult for them to practise outdoor education? The relationship between the selected aspects of outdoor education practised by teachers and the location of the school (city and village) was also examined. The research used the diagnostic survey method and the questionnaire technique. A proprietary questionnaire for elementary education teachers was developed. 276 respondents, in response to the questions, revealed their knowledge, their own views, and described their own activities related to the practice of outdoor education. Empirical data have shown that in Polish schools, outdoor education is practised extremely rarely, and its frequency is mainly related to the location of the facility. Incidentally conducted, it is characterised by a predominantly didaskalocentric attitude. Respondents indicate that only occasional education outside the school building results mainly from the lack of acceptance of this type of classes by the headmaster of schools and parents, and also from deficit of teachers’ competence in this area. The undertaken studies are important due to their unique nature in Poland. Moreover, they show directions of changes desired in teacher education curricula and the process of shaping parents’ awareness.

Our paper focuses on the implementation of the flipped classroom model with the students of the subject ICT for EFL teaching and learning at a Spanish university. This pedagogical approach, generally speaking, reverses the traditional learning environment by delivering instructional content outside the classroom and working on it in class. The ultimate goal of our research is to evaluate the aforementioned model, used with a sample of 40 students, through a mixed-method approach. To this aim, a satisfaction survey (Gilboy, Heinerichs & Pazzaglia, 2015) plus two open-ended questions were administered to participants in the study. The results obtained, through both quantitative and qualitative techniques, reveal that the majority of the students completing the evaluation preferred the flipped method compared with the traditional one.

This article highlights the socio-pedagogical role of the school through the perceptions of schoolteachers who work in Greek elementary school, which are related to social pedagogy. The results of our research follow the literature review on socio-pedagogical issues. For the research process, a research tool (questionnaire) was developed to examine the extent to which each identified socio-pedagogical problem concerns teachers. The survey was completed by 225 teachers of all specialties, most of them primary school teachers. As a result of their responses, teachers are largely confronted with students’ behavioral problems, problematic communication between school and family, child abuse and neglect, and differences in the specific learning needs of children. It is proposed to focus the socio-pedagogical research on all of the above in order to strengthen teachers in their work.

Although mental rotation ability has been researched broadly in cognitive psychology and neural studies, development of mental rotation and the effective method of training are rarely considered as an area of study in the education field. We aimed to study the development of mental rotation through the training program by three-dimensional twisty puzzle in two groups of school students (8-9-years, n=13 and 11-12-years, n=17). This quasi-experimental study with the pre-test post-test design was conducted at the Tehran international school girls. The students' mental rotation ability was evaluated using the well established testing methods (VMRT; Vandenberg & Kuse, 1978). After the initial test and training program (twelve 60-minute sessions), the results of the within-subject ANOVA indicated that 8-9-years school children were incompetent after post-test through follow-up session, whereas the 11-12-years school students did make gain in post-test and three months after training program. The study findings suggest that development of MR ability by three-dimensional puzzles can be wielded throughout extra school training program among primary school students.

Misconceptions are widely present among the students of all ages. The aim of this investigation was to determine the presence of misconceptions in understanding physical properties of water and to identify the most common ones. Quantitative analysis of data from the diagnostic conceptual test was performed on a sample of 243 first and third grade students from three elementary schools in Sombor, Serbia. It was shown that the impact of gender and school affiliation were not proven to be statistically significant factors in test achievements, while the children’s age significantly affects test results, as expected. Synthetic and scientifically correct answers were more frequent among the third grade students, while spontaneous answers were more common among the first graders. Nevertheless, a significant proportion of spontaneous answers implies that misconceptions about physical properties of water are almost identical and deep-rooted among students of both ages. Identifying children’s misconceptions provides a basis for development of accurate conceptual understanding.

This article presents the design, implementation and outcomes of AlpConnectar, a Swiss project that exploits technologies for digitally-supported language exchange (LE) in primary schools. Launched in 2013, the project involves three Swiss cantons where different languages are spoken (namely German, French and Italian) and respectively taught as foreign languages since the third grade of primary school. In the first section of the paper the linguistic composition of Switzerland is briefly presented and the current methodologies and approaches in foreign language teaching in the country are introduced. After a literature review of online LE practices, the AlpConnectar project is presented, along with a LE example to illustrate how it works. The final sections present the results of the project, based on data collected from both pupils and teachers. The results seem to suggest that while digital technologies offer significant benefits for LEs, they are no silver bullet, and their impact depends on a number of contextual variables.

Quantitatively oriented research investigation8, carried out in 13 regions of the Czech Republic with the sample size of 2005 respondents, offers results that raise doubts towards the inclusively oriented primary education. The teachers are not ready for the phenomenon. This paper focuses on attitudinal constructs of the teachers which can be understood as evaluative relationship towards the observed phenomenon, whose form reflects the subjectively perceived preparedness. It concerned the orientation in the context of questions of social exclusion and school education, actual form of school environment and, ultimately, their own perception of school inclusion.

Thesis. The aim of the study was to determine the level of achievement motivation of future primary school teachers during remote learning, as well as to describe each of the study dimensions characterising the achievement motivation. Methods. The study involved 162 (N=162) first-course students from Latvia, two of them were male. The study raised three research questions. RQ1: At what level do students assess each of the study dimensions that characterise the achievement motivation? RQ2: What factors hinder students from taking the initiative in the study process? RQ3: How do students monitor the quality of task performance? This paper defined five study dimensions to be assessed by students: initiative, persistence, quality of task performance, self-efficacy, seizing and exploiting opportunities. Results. The study found that four of the previously mentioned dimensions were highly assessed by the students. The dimension that characterises the persistence was assessed at a medium level. The students believe that lack of time, family conditions, and full-time work accompanying their study are the most common factors that hinder learning initiatives. To monitor the quality of task performance, most students bear in mind the assessment criteria provided by the lecturer, which are used as indicators to achieve an excellent result. Conclusion. The study concluded that the students also have a high motivation for achievement when studying remotely. In further studies, it is necessary to determine if any significant changes happen in the long run related to students’ achievement motivation when remote learning continues.

The Chinese word identification and sentence intelligibility are evaluated by grades 3 and 5 students in the classrooms with different reverberation times (RTs) from three primary school under different signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). The relationships between subjective word identification and sentence intelligibility scores and speech transmission index (STI) are analyzed. The results show that both Chinese word identification and sentence intelligibility scores for grades 3 and 5 students in the classroom increased with the increase of SNR (and STI), increased with the increase of the age of students, and decreased with the increase of RT. To achieve a 99% sentence intelligibility score, the STIs required for grades 3, grade 5 students, and adults are 0.71, 0.61, and 0.51, respectively. The required objective acoustical index determined by a certain threshold of the word identification test might be underestimated for younger children (grade 3 students) in classroom but overestimated for adults. A method based on the sentence test is more useful for speech intelligibility evaluation in classrooms than that based on the word test for different age groups. Younger children need more favorable classroom acoustical environment with a higher STI than older children and adults to achieve the optimum speech communication in the classroom.

First, the theories and typical symptoms of autism will be outlined, followed by examining the behaviours that enable teachers to recognise these form of disorders during lessons at school. Next we review some strategies and teaching techniques that may prove efficient and successful in the ELT classroom for both teachers and autistic students. Finally, we concentrate on the analysis of the data collected as a result of a small-scale qualitative study conducted among a group of EL teachers involved in teaching autistic learners. The study was designed with the purpose of interviewing teachers about the efficiency and successfulness of the currently recommended teaching techniques in their classrooms with ASD students.

Opis:
There is a certain amount of research that proves that positive emotions and mood play an important role in creative human activity (Abele-Brehm, 1992; Tokarz, 2011; Kunat, 2015). Particularly valuable is ability to recognise emotions and communicate them. It is also important to accept experienced emotions, gain a skill to react accordingly as well as ability to evoke and regulate emotions. According to Salovey and Mayer’s model, the aforementioned dispositions are elements of emotional intelligence. It turns out that emotional intelligence can stimulate creative activity since it enables management of emotional expenditure (Nęcka, 2001). The paper presents results of research conducted among teachers of primary schools. It was assumed that there is a correlation between emotional intelligence and creative activity of teachers. The research can contribute to development of emotional skills of teachers and to intensify their creative activity. That, in turn, can translate into shaping of innovative school environment that fits the needs of contemporary young person - a student.

In Slovenian schools pupils have few opportunities to observe, understand and enjoy works of art. Contemporary art education in Slovenia should aim to combine the development of productive and receptive artistic abilities. This would make more comprehensive artistic development of pupils possible. In this study we monitored the development of the art-appreciation abilities of 10–11-year old pupils in primary schools in northeastern Slovenia. Th e results show that the level of art-appreciation abilities is somewhat average, however, girls showed higher developed art-appreciation abilities than boys. Based on the results we can conclude that the development of art appreciation abilities in our art-education program is given too little attention.

International data from TIMSS 2015 show a significant negative correlation between the country mean attitude toward mathematics and the mean achievement in mathematics of fourth grade pupils. The aim of the paper is to decide whether it is a statistical artifact or an indication of a real factor operating at the country level. The multilevel regression analysis of the data attests the latter. The factor is hypothetically identified with country typical pressure for knowledge acquisition. Strong pressure is conducive to high achievement but it puts pupils under stress, which lowers the attitude. The reverse holds for weak pressure. Within country, the variability of pressure for knowledge acquisition is restricted, hence pupils may maintain psychological coherence between achievement and attitude.

Opis:
The authors present a content analysis of the selected textbooks for teaching the natural science in the Polish primary school in the scope of cartography and topography. Two series of textbooks edited by the Nowa Era publishing house and approved by the Ministry of National Education are used by the authors. The main aim of this analysis is to determine whether the textbooks meet the requirements of the new core curriculum. The psychological aspects that may cause the difficulties in learning the natural science for the students of the IVth-VIth classes of primary school are also discussed. The contents of textbooks are absorbed by the students in varying degrees. It is important, therefore, to take into account the psychological aspects of students’ learning and to draw the attention to the difficulties that may arise in the process of teaching in the classes IV-VI. Among them there are, inter alia, the difficulties in using a map scale, some problems with imagining the actual distances and areas, a height above the sea level and the relative heights, as well as the issues related to the students’ abilities to read a drawing of contour lines. In the process of natural science education in the primary school, it is very important to develop the children’s abstract thinking, which causes the stimulation of their spatial imagination. The various types of teaching aids, which can be helpful for the both groups, as for the teachers, so for the students, are discussed in this article. These are the atlases, models, interactive teaching aids, books and educational games. The analysis introduced in this article allows for a critical evaluation of the textbooks for primary school from the point of view of their content complacencies on cartography and topography with the new core curriculum. Teaching the bases of cartography and topography from an early age is very important, but developing the ability to use a map requires the continuous exercises. Working with a map helps to develop not only the practical skills, but also the students’ attitudes having a positive impact on the development of such qualities as conscientiousness, accuracy and patience; it also has an invaluable impact on the students’ spatial imagination.

The article presents the issue of patriotic discourse in school textbooks for teaching Polish for grades 4–8 of primary schools. At the same time, this issue is placed in the aspect of recent changes in education made and announced by the minister of science and education. The analysis of the textbooks carried out using the KAD method shows that, although we constantly deal with a romantic vision of patriotism due to the canon of reading, it is sometimes broken through reflection on historical events and the past. The martyrdom tendency, formed in the period of Romanticism, is still the dominant one, the presence of which is part of the paradigm of the long duration of Romanticism. The article also addresses what patriotic education at school should be today. Not only today, but for a long time now, we have been dealing with a tendency to produce and reproduce a conservative discourse and be closed within a martyrological narrative. This way of understanding patriotism today may lead young people to consider any form of patriotism as anachronistic and inadequate to our times.

Wzięło w nich udział 334 uczniów w wieku 7–8 lat, 365 w wieku 8–9 lat i 317 w wieku 9–10 lat, łącznie 498 dziewcząt i 518 chłopców. W badaniach zastosowano technikę testu osiągnięć szkolnych. Do statystycznego opracowania wyników wykorzystano program SPSS 21 (IBM Corp., 2012). Wyniki. Z kolei najwięcej problemów sprawiał im przewrót w tył i leżenie przerzutne. Wnioski. Uczniowie w młodszym wieku szkolnym ogólnie prezentują w zakresie wybranych umiejętności ruchowych ponadprzeciętny poziom, wyraźnie różnicowany przez płeć i wiek.
Background. To assess the motor skill level of early primary school students. Material and methods. The research was carried out among randomly selected children attending grades 1–3 in primary schools in Cracow, Poland. It covered 334 students aged 7–8 years, 365 aged 8–9 years, and 317 aged 9–10 years; in total, 498 girls and 518 boys. The technique of a school achievement test was applied. The results were statistically analysed with the SPSS 21 software (IBM Corp., 2012). Results. The highest percentage of students examined in terms of their motor skill level represented the average or high range. The early school students were best at dribbling the ball, standing long jump, side-to-side bench jumps, keeping the ball with the internal part of the foot, and front support. In turn, back flip and candlestick exercises appeared most difficult. Conclusions. Early school students generally show an above-average level of the described selected motor skills, clearly differentiated by sex and age.

Opis:
The adolescent period is indicated as one of the risk factors responsible for depression symptoms. In Poland the attention has been drawn to this problem relatively rarely as it was hitherto stereotypically perceived as the disease of the elderly. However, school psychologists and counselors more and more frequently suggest that their students exhibit different symptoms characteristic of, among others, youth depression. Thus, authors’ objective consisted in conducting a pilot study in order to check if there are any reasons for distress as to the psychophysical state of primary school students. The study was carried out in the group of one hundred and forty (140) students from the fourth and seventh grades where the biggest teaching changes occurred and one hundred and forty (140) parents and class teachers. Children’s Depression Inventory (CDI) by Maria Kovacs was employed in research. Based on the obtained research results one may put forward the thesis that there is a necessity to conduct in-depth diagnostic studies oriented towards revealing children’s and school youth’s depression symptoms.

In the context of contemporary reality, the issue of multicultural education is becoming more and more popular. Therefore, the purpose of the article is two-fold: to discuss Banks’ vve dimensions of multicultural education and to share some ideas on how these dimensions are or can be used to assist teachers in integrating multicultural content into their primary foreign language classrooms. Moreover, one section of the paper is devoted to the vgure of Professor James. A Banks, who is widely regarded as a founder of multicultural education. Moreover, the professor’s own rewections on the dimensions of interest expressed in the interview conducted by Tucker in 1998 are presented. Finally, having recognised the importance of early multicultural education, the author of the article concludes that primary foreign language teachers should not hesitate and encourages them to start preparing their students to become unbiased global citizens.

Singing activity is the basis of music education and its essential implementation form at all stages of general education. Voice is a primary musical instrument and an elementary means for performing that enables pupils to approach musical art in an appropriate way so that they can successfully receive, experience and evaluate it. With the research we discover and prove the importance of mastering the vocal technique of teachers, which is a prerequisite for quality singing activity in primary school. From the stated it follows that the application of a quality method of vocal technique, which teachers use both in speech and singing undoubtedly means improving the quality of singing activity in the educational process. The results also highlight important correlations between teachers and pupils in music education, and especially in singing activities, where we determine the strong influence of teachers on pupils.

Opis:
Following the call in Sandlund, Sundqvist, and Nyroos (2016) for incorporating discursive approaches into the field of oral second language (L2) testing, this paper proposes an interactional usage-based approach to the analysis of oral L2 performance. Based on Eskildsen (2018a), we combine analytic tools from usage-based linguistics and conversation analysis. We draw on usage-based linguistics to analyze performance in terms of test-takers’ inventories of linguistic constructions and on conversation analysis to understand their interactional competence in terms of the relation between the linguistic constructions and the actions they are used to accomplish. Performance assessment is thus constructional and interactional. Participants in this pilot study were two Danish primary school children who performed two consecutive oral tasks: a semi-guided interview and a picture-elicited narrative task. Data were analyzed by means of cross-child comparisons and cross-task comparisons within each child. Our data confirm the observation from previous research that simple question-answer(-assessment) sequences dominate oral test formats, but also that the format is sometimes abandoned, which allows for the accomplishment of new social actions. Moreover, the picture-description task affords a different speech exchange system with the interviewer participating more as an active listener when the children do not voluntarily carry out the requested task.

This study investigates how Swedish learners make sense of and perceive English instruction and the process of foreign language learning in a target language-only primary school classroom. In small group discussions, 26 learners aged 9-10 were audio recorded while discussing questions related to their language learner beliefs and their classroom experiences. Learners expressed a strong consensus about the importance of both the teacher’s extensive target language input and the learners’ oral engagement, in alignment with the beliefs of the teacher. However, the analysis identified three mismatches among high anxiety learners in this context, related to incomprehensible teacher talk, social fear of making mistakes and classroom organization. As their voiced beliefs were at odds with their emotionally guided behavior of refraining from asking questions or volunteering to speak, their sense of agency was reduced. In this context, the target language-only approach appeared to have a negative impact on the emotional, organizational and instructional dimensions of foreign language instruction for many of the young learners. The findings illustrate the interrelated dynamics of beliefs, emotions and classroom context, and contribute to our understanding of learners’ foreign language anxiety and sense of agency in the primary foreign language classroom.

The article presents the results of research on intellectual activity of primary school pupils participating in extracurricular activities, which were carried out under the program of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education entitled "Young Explorer's University". The research was carried out on specially organised classes in the form of non-formal education with a developed curriculum. The main research method was the diagnostic survey method, in which the technique was a questionnaire and the tool was a knowledge test. It was carried out using the Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) technique. In the article, most attention is paid to the change of intellectual activity in the context of pupils' cognitive processes in the adopted categories of tasks, i.e. memory, comprehension and use of information in typical and problematic situations, the concept of which was adopted on the basis of B. Objectives: Several studies have demonstrated a high prevalence of voice disorders in teachers, together with the personal, professional and economical consequences of the problem. Good primary prevention should be based on 3 aspects: 1) amelioration of classroom acoustics, 2) voice care programs for future professional voice users, including teachers and 3) classroom or portable amplification systems. The aim of the study was to assess the benefit obtained from the use of portable amplification systems by female primary school teachers in their occupational setting. Materials and Methods: Forty female primary school teachers attended a course about professional voice care, which comprised two theoretical lectures, each 60 min long. Thereafter, they were randomized into 2 groups: the teachers of the first group were asked to use a portable vocal amplifier for 3 months, till the end of school-year. The other 20 teachers were part of the control group, matched for age and years of employment. All subjects had a grade 1 of dysphonia with no significant organic lesion of the vocal folds. Results: Most teachers of the experimental group used the amplifier consistently for the whole duration of the experiment and found it very useful in reducing the symptoms of vocal fatigue. In fact, after 3 months, Voice Handicap Index (VHI) scores in "course + amplifier" group demonstrated a significant amelioration (p = 0.003). The perceptual grade of dysphonia also improved significantly (p = 0.0005). The same parameters changed favourably also in the "course only" group, but the results were not statistically significant (p = 0.4 for VHI and p = 0.03 for perceptual grade). Conclusions: In teachers, and particularly in those with a constitutional weak voice and/or those who are prone to vocal fold pathology, vocal amplifiers may be an effective and low-cost intervention to decrease potentially damaging vocal loads and may represent a necessary form of prevention.

Opis:
The article reveals the peculiarities of nature therapy as a health-improving tech-nology in the primary school process. It is about new priorities in modern environmen-tal education. In the definitive sense, nature therapy is the positive effect of natural information on the pupil in order to form an active operational and activity position and maintain his or her personal health. The article focuses on the technological aspect of the nature therapy. That is, this phenomenon is considered as a specific pedagogical technology of preservation and correction of health and activation of cognitive activity of pupils of primary classes on the principles of influence of objects of the natural envi-ronment, as a pedagogical “treatment” by means of nature in the educational process of primary school. The attention is focused on the physiological, medical, psychological and pedagogical components of the technology described. The attention is drawn to the fact that the technology of preparing the future teacher of primary classes for the use of nature therapy in work with younger pupils on the basis of interdisciplinarity and integration, involves the formation of the system of value attitude to nature, knowledge, skills and abilities that enable students to use the means of nature therapy in the training, and subsequently in professional activity.

The study deals with the consequences of national testing at the primary school level on the processes of education, teachers’ work in the classroom and the teaching profession. It is based on the international discourse about the consequences of large-scale testing and investigates Slovak teachers’ opinions and measures they have implemented under the influence of testing in their own instruction and school. The research, carried out by the questionnaire method on a sample of 786 (2017) and 940 (2020) respondents, confirms that teachers perceive national testing as too far from instruction and inconsistent with educational standards. They do not believe it can fulfil the set goals, but, on the other hand, because of it, they narrow down instruction to prepare for tests and take measures that do not change the quality of pupil learning.

Inthis the essence of the problem of organizing interaction of the subjects of the educational process. A review of scientific sources on the research problem is done. Based on empirical research, the results of studying the readiness of primary school teachers to organize interaction in the classroom are presented. The analysis of the survey, in which Ivano-Frankivsk region (Ukraine) teachers participated, was carried out. The subject of the study was to determine the concept of "dialogic interaction", the use of this method in primary school, as well as teachers' difficulties in organizing interactive learning in the classroom: insufficient methodological support, the gap between theoretical knowledge and challenges of school practice. 48.2% of teachers use interaction every day or at each lesson to intensify students' learning activities, to stimulate their cognitive interests, to establish cooperation and co-creation. There are also respondents who do not practice or use this technique very rarely. It was found that some respondents (almost 55%) will have difficulty in organizing interactive interaction in the educational process; 25% - indicated some difficulties using these methods in primary school, 20% - have no difficulty organizing an educational dialogue with students in class.

Opis:
Background. Nutrition is one of the major environmental factors affecting children’s physical development and health, with nutrition mistakes made in early years of life having short- and long-term health consequences. Objective. This study has been aimed at evaluating eating behaviours of primary school pupils and determining whether there are relationships between pupils’ eating habits and their area of residence. Material and methods. The study was conducted in primary schools located in the following voivodeships (administrative units) in Poland: Śląskie, Opolskie and Małopolskie, on a total sample of 1138 pupils. A survey specially designed for the purpose of this study was used to investigate the pupils’ eating behaviours. The findings were then analysed with the use of MS Excel 2010 and Statistica 12.0 software. Results. According to the survey, 61.42% of pupils in our study ate the recommended number of meals daily. 72.74% reported eating breakfast daily, 66.17% stated they ate packed lunch/midmorning snack daily, 17.49% reported eating wholemeal bread more than once daily, whilst milk and natural yoghurt were consumed daily by 20.04% and 10.81% of pupils, respectively. Sweets and salty snacks were excluded from the diet of 2.2% and 3.08% of pupils respectively. 6.59% of pupils reported not eating fast food at all. Conclusions. The eating behaviours of primary school pupils differ. Regional variations in eating behaviours have been found to exist, revealing a correlation between the pupils’ area of residence (voivodeship) and some eating behaviours. The largest number of healthy eating behaviours were reported by pupils from Małopolskie Voivodeship.
Wprowadzenie. Cel. Ocena zachowań żywieniowych uczniów szkół podstawowych oraz stwierdzenie czy istnieją zależności pomiędzy zachowaniami żywieniowymi uczniów i ich miejscem zamieszkania. Materiał i metodyka. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone w szkołach podstawowych na terenie województwa śląskiego, opolskiego i małopolskiego wśród 1138 uczniów. Do oceny zachowań żywieniowych posłużył autorski kwestionariusz ankiety. Uzyskane wyniki analizowano przy pomocy programów MS Excel 2010 i Statistica 12.0. Wyniki. Spożywanie zalecanej liczby posiłków deklarowało 61,42% uczniów. Na codzienne spożywanie I śniadania wskazało 72,74% uczniów, II śniadanie codziennie spożywało 66,17% uczniów. 17,49% uczniów zadeklarowało kilkukrotne spożycie ciemnego pieczywa w ciągu dnia, mleko i jogurty naturalne z tą częstością spożywało odpowiednio 20.04% i 10.81% uczniów. Wykluczenie z diety słodyczy oraz słonych przekąsek zadeklarowało odpowiednio 2.2% i 3.08% uczniów. 6.59% uczniów nie spożywa produktów typu fast-food. Wnioski. Zachowania żywieniowe uczniów szkół podstawowych są zróżnicowane. Stwierdzono występowanie zależności pomiędzy niektórymi zachowaniami żywieniowymi uczniów i ich miejscem zamieszkania. Najwięcej korzystnych zachowań żywieniowych zaobserwowano u uczniów zamieszkujących województwo małopolskie.

Opis:
This study aimed to analyse the relationship between the formative assessment (FA) of Physical Education teachers and the level of self-concept of primary school students. In this descriptive cross-sectional study of 122 schoolchildren, self-concept was assessed using the Piers-Harris Self-Concept Scale and the teacher's formative assessment practices through the teacher performance questionnaire associated with formative assessment practices whose scores were validated. The analysis of bivariate correlations showed that higher values in proactive FA correlated with lower values in physical self-concept and higher values in behavioural, intellectual, and social self-concept (p < .05, for all) and interactive FA with higher values in social self-concept (p < .05). The simple analysis of variance detected statistically significant differences in proactive and interactive FA (p < .05, for all) in favour of those who had a higher level of self-concept. In turn, the linear regression test indicated that higher values in retroactive FA are associated with higher values in social self-concept (p < .039) and, that higher values in proactive FA are associated with lower values in physical self-concept (p < .023). It can be concluded that the FA of the Physical Education teacher can be a differentiating element in the development of self-concept.

Opis:
Introduction. Keeping proper hand hygiene is one of the basic methods to reduce the risk of spreading infections and opportunistic, pathogenic microorganisms showing increased resistance to commonly used antibiotics. Therefore, a study was conducted to determine the extent of bacterial contamination of hands. Material and methods. The study on the cleanliness of hands was conducted among primary school students. Material consisted of children’s fingerprints taken on sterile culture media, both before and after hand washing. At the same time, a questionnaire survey was carried out, taking into account socio-demographic variables. Results. The study has shown different level of bacterial contamination on students’ hands. The hands of boys were twice as contaminated as the hands of girls. Conclusions. Most of the identified bacteria represented the natural microflora of the skin. Opportunistic bacteria were also found to be frequent. Hence, it seems advisable to take actions to raise public awareness of the dangers related to inadequate hygiene and to promote appropriate habits.
Materiał i metody.

A high professional level is one of the fundamental quality parameters in the process of education. Therefore, the pregradual education of future teachers should be transformed in terms of both the changing requirements on education and the changing role of the teacher. The paper discusses basic principles of critical thinking required from future primary school teachers as a key for the introduction and implementation of progressive changes in the school system. Furthermore, the paper comments on the results of a questionnaire-based survey in the academic year 2020/2021. Its main purpose was to identify the misgivings of the 1st year MA students concerning the development of critical thinking in primary school pupils in three areas: the development of an inclusive education environment and a positive social climate in a classroom; education planning and design; and asking questions.
