The study of “datives” in Spanish has conflated two kinds of unstressed pronouns belonging to different paradigms: personal pronouns (me, te, le) and reflexive pronouns (me, te, se) have been studied as if they were a single class. Both series, however, have different roots and different grammatical uses in Latin. Reflexive pronouns were used in Latin to express the meanings of the old Indo-European middle voice, which were initially expressed synthetically through the -r forms of the verb (amor, amatur). Dative personal or demonstrative pronouns, on the other hand, were used to provide a “self-affection meaning” upon one of the participants in the verbal process. Communicative import has been different in each case, and the resources used to belong to different paradigms, as their possible co-presence in the same texts shows. The convergence of personal datives and the reflexive paradigm, both in their meaning (selfaffection) and in their category (unstressed pronouns) made Spanish grammarians describe both as a single “dative” paradigm, even though reflexive pronouns did not always come from the dative and actually its present clitic form comes from the accusative. The object of this paper is to show the differences between both paradigms and, at the same time, defend the relevance of middle voice in present Spanish.

The purpose of the paper is to present some reflections about the methodological suggestions of Carlo Ginzburg, especially those published in his essay Spie. Radici di un paradigma indiziario including also the discussion that followed them in „Quaderni di Storia” (1980; 1981). Three main problems stressed in this debate seem to be of the particular interest for archaeologists; I) the nature of historical cognition and the notion of „paradigma indiziario" as they have been conceived by Ginzburg; 2) the relationship between the „context of justification” and „context of discovery" and 3) finally the most important one, the role of the conjectural abduction or reasoning culminating in a probable hypothesis in the historical and archaeological inference Contrary to Ginzburg - and it is the first point who opposes his „conjectural paradigm" to „Galileo's" one, the author directs attention to the arguments against such a radical distinction of the natural sciences versus social and historical ones. Practically all the problems o f historical (and archaeological) cognition are at the same time problems of all cognition in general. It is true for exemple that historical and archaeological research procedures usually are postgnostic: the point is to find out causes of certain facts which we believe to be the effects, but as was formulated by J. Topolski „neither can history remain indifferent to the function of formulating laws, nor can other disciplines be indifferent to the postgnostic procedure". The most important however is the statement that in postgnostic procedure „we may speak about the knowledge of effects only in so far as we know the causes, because the concept of effect acquires meaning only when it is an element of the ordered pair: cause-efTect". A caracteristic of the historical science based on the one segment only of this pair is in effect insutTiciant and controversial. The second problem concers directly concepts and theoretical statements lying at the foundations of „New Archaeology” and research trends resulting from it or referring to its achievements. Contrary to Binford's neopositivist thesis, the „context of discovery" seems to constitute an integral part of the „context of justification". But the logic of discovery seems to be in the history, as in the others sciences, „still a grossly underdeveloped domain" and the emphasis upon verification rather than discovery constitues still ..a distortion of the actual emphases in the practice of science". It seems that the publications of Ginzburg and the debate following them despite certain reservation render services to a better cognition of the problem-solving process in the historical sciences. The third question, that's just the process of discovery described by H. A. Simon. It is „a process of selective trial and error, using heuristic rules derived from previous experience, that is sometimes successful in discovering means that are more or less efficacious in attaining some end" That process was called by Peirce „retroduction" or „conjectural abduction". This third type of reasoning has constituted recently the subject matter of certain methodological studies, it will be certainly also in future of great interest for archaeologists.

The lecture concerns the Berlin Palace (Stadtschloss) and presents a view of its long history, starting with its construction in the Baroque style by an artist of the Polish origin, Andreas Schlüter, up to its contemporary reconstruction with a new institutional function (Humboldt Forum). The ten sections of the text not only present architectural and artistic history of this residence but also pivotal historical events and contexts which affected the dimensions and meaning of its functioning. The Palace, entangled into German history but also reflecting it, especially as regards the 19th and 20th centuries, becomes both a starting point for an evaluation of this history and posing questions about the future. Along with the ferociously debated, present-day reconstruction and its museum function, it also seems to be a psychogram of diverse stages of the condition of German spirit.

Petrarch’s customary reliance on autobiographical themes serves as a guiding principle to nearly all of his works. The Secretum meum is perhaps his most autographical text. It is a treatise in the form of a dialogue in which the speakers, Francesco and Augustine, are characters alluding to Petrarch and St Augustine. The analogies between their respective itinera conversionis determine the strategies endorsing their paradigmatic dimension. In this article, I show that Petrarch uses his own individual case as a point of departure to embark on general discourse; that the Augustinian conflict between ‘the inner man’ and ‘the outer man’ serves as the framework for the construction of the dialogue; and that the story of Francesco’s moral crisis and his attempts to surmount it assume a universal meaning. I also discuss Petrarch as a master of mystification, brilliant at conjuring up an image of himself and cultivating his autobiographical myth built up of a blend of fact and fiction. From the very outset, the reader is up against an instance of unintended internal mystification: Augustine accuses Francesco of unwitting self-deception regarding his deplorable moral condition. By the end of the Secretum, Francesco manages to renounce his weaknesses, recovers his selfcontrol, and resolves to lead a life of virtue. However, Augustine is not at all sure whether his therapeutic methods have indeed worked. Perhaps writing will be the best remedy.
Per Petrarca l’autobiografismo diventa il filo conduttore di quasi tutta la produzione letteraria. L’opera più autobiografica è forse il Secretum meum, trattato in forma di dialogo i cui interlocutori, Francesco e Agostino, alludono a Petrarca e a sant’Agostino. Le analogie tra l’iter conversionis dell’uno e dell’altro sono strategie che confermano la dimensione paradigmatica di entrambi. Nell’articolo si cerca di dimostrare come Petrarca a partire da un caso individuale sviluppa un discorso generale, come il conflitto agostiniano tra “uomo interiore” e “uomo esteriore” costituisce un’asse portante intorno alla quale è costruito il dialogo e come si universalizza la storia della crisi morale di Francesco e dei tentativi di superarla. Inoltre, l’articolo ha come obiettivo presentare Petrarca come geniale mistificatore che ha saputo creare la propria immagine e coltivare il mito autobiografico in cui confonde verità e finzione. Fin dall’inizio si ha a che fare anche con la mistificazione interna non intenzionata, in quanto Agostino accusa Francesco di ingannare se stesso sul motivo della propria miseria morale, senza esserne consapevole. Il proposito da parte di Francesco di abbandonare le proprie debolezze riacquistando il dominio di sé si fa faticosamente strada verso la fine del Secretum, ma Agostino non ha nessuna certezza che i suoi metodi „terapeutici” siano stati efficaci. Forse la cura reale è la scrittura.

Beginning with the Bauhaus anniversary in 2019, new perspectives are being revealed on GDR design. This promises a revision of the German design historiography of the last decades, which was dominated by West-German perspectives. Referring to this trend in research, my essay questions the German history and historiography of design. After the Second World War, the German historiography of art followed the paradigm of the Cold War (Abstraction in the West, Socialist Realism in the East). The historiography of design followed this schema by distinguishing “socialist” from “capitalist” design. To this day, this prevents “transnational” perspectives. In contrast to this, I agree with the argument that the consolidation of the two German states occurred with reference to the (old) concept of “good form”, among other things. Even though the different discourses refer to similar objects and references, they are structured by different interpretations of the term “Good Form”, referring to the ruling ideology of the particular state. It represents a central argument in aesthetic education (Geschmackserziehung), which contained moral and political values. In 1950s West Germany, the Deutscher Werkbund, an organization which was involved in processes of institutionalization in both the political and design historical field, was  the main driver of this discourse. In contrast to this, the institutionalization of design in the GDR was organized by the state. Nevertheless, distinctive parallels in the discourses in East and West suggest the lasting impact of the Werkbund. Consequently, I argue that the discursive foundations, which were laid in the 1950s at the latest, had a lasting influence on “German-German” (deutsch-deutsch) design historiography and have recently opened up a pan-German (gesamtdeutsch) perspective.

L’articolo si propone di affrontare il tema dell’agricoltura plurale paradigma dell’Europa. Il ruolo assegnato alla funzione agricola è stato soggetto a cambiamenti i cui confini sono stati notevolmente ampliati al di là della produzione alimentare. In tal contesto sono emerse problematiche paesaggistiche e ambientali legate ad aspetti sociali e culturali combinati con il rapporto urbano-rurale. A livello dell’UE appaiono nuovi percorsi di sviluppo dell’agricoltura in correlazione con il cibo, l’ambiente, il benessere degli animali (welfare).
Przedmiotem rozważań jest rolnictwo wielofunkcyjne jako paradygmat dla Europy. Rola funkcji rolnictwa ulegała zmianom, które wyszły znacznie poza produkcję żywności. W szczególności pojawiły się wątki ochrony krajobrazu oraz środowiska związane z połączeniem aspektów społecznych i kulturowych oraz relacji miasto–wieś. Na poziomie unijnym ukształtowały się nowe ścieżki rozwoju rolnictwa związane z żywnością, środowiskiem, klimatem i dobrostanem zwierząt (welfare).
The subject under consideration is multifunctional agriculture as a paradigm for Europe. The role of the function of agriculture has undergone changes that have gone well beyond food production. In particular, landscape and environmental protection issues have emerged as a result of the combination of social and cultural aspects and the urban-rural relationship. At the EU level, new paths for agriculture have developed in relation to food, the environment, climate and animal welfare.

Główną ideą tego opracowania jest pokazanie, że region Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej można scharakteryzować w wymiarze kulturowym i politycznym przez metaforę zranienia. Również uwzględniająca kontekst historyczny interpretacja tego regionu może być zbudowana na podstawie metafory rany. Zranienie społeczne jako paradygmat interpretacyjny tego regionu, który pojawia się w publicznych wypowiedziach polityków i przywódców religijnych, stanowi jedno z ważniejszych wyzwań dla miejscowych społeczeństw. Problem opracowania można wyrazić w złożonym pytaniu: jak społeczeństwa regionu radzą sobie z własnymi ranami, w jakim stopniu doświadczenie poniesionych w minionej przeszłości urazów wpływa na kształtowanie się ich zbiorowej tożsamości dzisiaj oraz jak praca nad bolesną przeszłością przyczynia się do budowania jedności z innymi narodami regionu? Doświadczenie zranienia społecznego stanowi dla Kościołów chrześcijańskich i innych wspólnot religijnych duże wyzwanie, które nakazuje ocenić krytycznie dotychczasowe formy praktyki pojednania jako zbyt indywidualistyczne. Współcześnie należy wypracować nowy wspólnotowy model pojednania i budowania pokoju na poziomie lokalnym, krajowym i międzynarodowym, a Kościoły chrześcijańskie mają w tym zakresie wiele do zrobienia.
Since the first quarter after the fall of communism in Central and Eastern Europe religions and bigger and smaller religious communities are one of the most important public players. In every post-communist states there are new laws regarding freedom of religion and church financing. Local religious communities are important players in the rebuilding of civil society. Over the national/nationalistic dimension of the new public presence of religion there are some regional issues of history, identity and live in freedom, which should be analyzed. Contemporary Central and Eastern Europe can be characterized as one multiple cultural region in seeking social and cultural identity. One of the most important dimension of the regional context is the post-genocide experience, the permanent imagination of genocides and other forms of historical wounds. Under genocides I mean the experience of so called bloodlands (Snyder), Holocaust and Srebrenica. In my presentation I try to argue for one particular interpretation of the societies in Central and Eastern Europe dealing with post-genocide public discourses. Religions, theologies and churches play important role in seeking and offering post-genocide identity – that kind of public activity is in my opinion the central and special point in the adequate and appropriate interpretation of contemporary processes in the region; and that approach can be seen as one particular and original theoretical framework for understanding the region today and not at least for one new vision of pastoral care as well.

The  present  paper  analyses  Ivo  Vojnović’s  drama  Maškarate ispod kuplja  by  intending  to emphasize  the  importance  of  carnival  masks  considered  as  instruments  of  liberation  of individuals from social conformism. The protagonists of Vojnović’s  Maškarate show their non-conformist faces and experience freedom only incarnival season. The carnival is described  as  the allegory  of  surreal  and  phantasmagoric  world  displaying  pseudo-realistic situations that represent the deformed face or, rather, the alter of the masked reality. Masks are,  therefore, perceived  as  shields  from  the  frustrating  reality  and  external  influences, whereas life under masks is understood as the perfect model of concealing internal weaknesses and insecurities. The enchanting carnival atmosphere enables the protagonists to openly show the suppressed personality and personal choices. The clear model of searching for the illusion of the truth and the truth of the illusion is also shown, notwithstanding the complicating conditions of the emotional world of the protagonist-symbol who creates false identity provoked and conditioned by external factors. The influence of the Italian grotesque theatre has been reported as well, whereas the similarities have been perceived in particular in the behavioral pattern of the protagonists and perception  of  time and  place  as  metaphysical  categories.  The  determination  of  the  level of  interdependence between  the  Croatian  author  and  the  Italian  role models  has  also  been possible.  The comparison  with  the  Italian  literary  contemporaries  has  been  performed  by examining the intertextual correspondences in particular related to the selection of the „carnivalesque” motives.
