The following article presents the method of determining the ship 's propulsion engine operation basing on the engines work parameters by means of dimensional analysis. The operation of engine is considered as effective energy transfer to ship propeller in the form of work during its operation. According to Girtler engine operation can be considered as, a new physical quantity of dimension Joul multiplied by second [2, 3J. A random type of combustion in engine cylinders makes possible to deal with engine operation as a random variable vectors in the Hilbert space isomorphic with dimension space. The analysis of stochastic engine workprocess is alternatively used as a set of determinist time functions by means dimension analysis. Parametric functions of engine work were determined on the basis of algebraic analysis scheme designed by S. Drobot. This scheme makes possible to control the correctness of conclusion rules regarding mathematics in digital functions describing operation of ship propulsion engine. Additionally the parametric form of function makes possible to investigate the influence of function parameters on correctness of engine operation. It makes possible to forecast the engine operation i given sailing conditions and to estimate steerability of ship during the voyage. It improves the safety of ship operation propelled by single engine propulsion plant.

The article presents identification methods of ship propeller torsional vibrations in dimensional space and ways for their dumping. Propeller torsional vibrations are caused by static, dynamic and hydrodynamic unbalance of propeller itself and its operation in non-uniform velocity field of ship hull. The propeller working in uneven velocity field of the hull creates cyclic thrust forces, peripheral vibrations of shaft as well as flexural and torsional load of propeller shaft. Vibrations cause additional thrust load on shaft bearings and shaft bending moment. Vibrations of ship hull, particularly its stern section cause variation of pressure field created by propeller. Amplitude of particular parts of the hull comes from the action of cyclic forces created by working ship propeller. They can be very large. Therefore, the ways to reduce vibrations caused by running propeller are very important. Given in the article methods of vibration dumping calculations conduct to determination of vibration dumping coefficients. Calculation results are comparable to measuring results in spite of fact they were determined under assumption of different velocity fields of water flowing through propeller circle. Amplitudes of vibrations depend on number of propeller blades and pulsate with the basic frequency equal to product of the rotational speed and number of blades. Causes of such vibrations and additional load of vessel stern are described in the article. An attention was paid to assure the greatest possible uniformity of velocity field by adequate design of stern shape and accessories. The ways to reduce torsional vibrations of propeller by the appropriate selection of blades number and their accurately machining are also given in the article.

In the paper an identification of low speed diesel engine operation in direct propulsion plant equipped with fixed pitch propeller during ship manoeuvring. It was starting of engine and gathering speed of ship. Analysis of engine operation was based on changes of engine torque and time of ship bring up to speed. Operation of reciprocating internal combustion engine consists in converting the supplied fuel energy and delivering it to ship propeller. This condition implicates converting different amounts of energy in different time. The main attention was given to operation of engine caused by crank pin forces in wide range of revolutions and their influence on mechanical load of ship propulsion plant. The torque is the major component determining the engine load. As a matter of fact its mean value is low, but a passing torque can be four times higher than the rated torque. The second important component of propulsion engine operation is the time of ship acceleration from one speed to another. It determines dynamic properties of the ship describing its reductional feature. This time is determined in dependence on other parameters characterizing operation of ship propulsion plant and ship motion by means of dimensional analysis. These parameters were regarded as dimension quantities of three-dimensional space. Thus the three independent in dimension parameters can be noted in digital form in dimensional functions. The knowledge of operation parameters of ship propulsion plant and the knowledge of ship motion dynamics makes possible rational manoeuvring. It increases safety of ship motion and failure-free operation of ship propulsion engine. The proper operation of engine requires delivery to the propeller such amount of energy, which ensure the motion of ship with required speed in given sailing conditions.

Współczesne wymagania stawiane silnikom spalinowym są ukierunkowane głównie na uzyskiwanie dużych wartości wskaźników ich pracy przy jednoczesnym małym zużyciu paliwa i ograniczonej emisji składników toksycznych spalin. Mimo, że silniki spalinowe wykorzystują zróżnicowane warunki obciążenia, to udział biegu jałowego w całym zakresie ich pracy jest znaczny. Udział silników spalinowych z bezpośrednim wtryskiem benzyny (ZI DI) jest coraz większy w ogólnej liczbie silników o zapłonie iskrowym. Oznacza to, że sposób przygotowania mieszanki jest ważnym czynnikiem w silniku ZI DI również na biegu jałowym. Analizie poddano silnik ZI z tworzeniem mieszanki przez dawkę wtryskiwanego paliwa (typu spray-guided) na biegu jałowym. Określono wskaźniki jego pracy w tych warunkach oraz dokonano oceny nierównomierności cykli z użyciem współczynnika zmienności. Wykorzystując wiele wskaźników eksploatacyjnych silnika wskazano na te, które w najlepszy sposób charakteryzują jego pracę na biegu jałowym.
Contemporary requirements for combustion engines are aimed mainly at obtaining high values of engine operation parameters at simultaneously low fuel consumption and reduced emission of toxic components of the exhaust gases. Despite the fact that internal combustion engines utilise diverse load conditions, the share of idle speed in the whole range of their operation is significant. The percentage of combustion engines with direct gasoline injection (SI DI) in the total number of engines with spark ignition engines is increasing. It means that the method of preparation of the mixture is an important factor in SI DI engine, also for idle speed. In tests was analysed the SI engine creating mixture through a dose of injected fuel (of the spray-guided type) for idle speed. The indexes of engine operation in those conditions were determined, and with the use of coefficient of variation the estimation of the cyclic variation of the cycle was conducted. From many operational indexes of the engine were selected those, which in the best way characterise engine operation for idle speed.

The article presents reasons for generating a non-uniform field of parameters in the compressor inlet of a turbine aircraft engine and its influence on the air jet kinematics at lowering fatigue strength of the compressor blade. Analysis of the engine torque in function of the engine operation time has been performed. Courses of the basic turbine engine operations parameters during compressor stall have been presented. The significant role of changes of the first torque derivative in relation to variation of the rotor acceleration in that assessment has been determined, which may be an important signal of the compressor surge occurring in the compressor. That parameter may be a signal for the control system to eliminate the negative phenomenon. The engine dynamics during the compressor surge has also been presented by developing the phase images of the engine operation basic parameters. The article includes analysis of dynamical changes in temperature of the combustion gases.

Elements of Modern ships' main combustion driven engines are subject to immense heat and mechanical loads. It is therefore advisable to supervise the regularity of heat generation in engine 's cylinder s. In order to diagnose the process of heat generation in engine's cylinder s, this article propagates the use of momentmetre. Described method allows estimating faulty combustion on the basis of autocorrelation of moment temporary values on the shaft after three successive rotations. The paper brings to attention how the work of diesel engine may be usedfor estimation of combustion process correctness in this engine cylinder. The work of diesel engine is connected with transfer of effective energy to ship propeller during its operation. Due to accidental naturę of combustion inside engine cylinder s it stochastic internally stationary process. To say more it is stochastic internally stationary process with ergodic feature. It makes possible to describe expected engine work by means of stochastic second order characteristics. They are autocorrelation functions and spectrum density of self power functions depending on time and frequency. Both above mentioned functions are uniquely connected with combustion in engine cylinders and it is possible to estimate the correctness of engine operation. It is also possible to estimate if the work of engine in given sail conditions is equal to reguirements of imposed tasks. If this reguirement is not met in the case of one propeller ship it can lead to the loss of ship stability and as a result can cause the ship sink.

The work provides a proposal of interpretation showing operation in terms of values being compared to a physical quantity with the unit of measure called joule-second, just like operations of Hamilton and Maupertius demonstrated in classical mechanics. Operation in this interpretation is also considered in quantum mechanics, referring to body electromagnetic radiation source of which operation is characterized by Planck constant. An original method of analysis and evaluation of machine operation is herein presented in the energetic aspect, as the result of applying the theory of semi-Markov processes. In order to give grounds for usability of such interpreted operation it has been employed the model describing changes in energy of combustion engines, in the form of state-discrete and time-continuous semi-Markov process. The process is thus a semi-Markov model of getting worse combustion engine operation run with the lapse of time and regaining the initial energetic state of the engine after its refurbishment. The limiting distribution of the process has been determined with probabilities of occurring the distinguished energetic states of mentioned engines. The paper shows that the proposed interpretation for the operation enables making a graph of operation, which demonstrates engine operation in the form of field. The attention is paid that the engine operation in the presented version has got the advantage that can be expressed as a quantity with the joule-second as a unit of measure and as a graph in the form of operation field. The coordinate system for presenting the operation as a field, proposed in this paper, refers to the known in thermodynamics possibility of expressing the energy conversion sorts like work and heat (according to the conception of Clapeyron and Belpaire) in the form of fields.

Silniki o zapłonie iskrowym z wtryskiem bezpośrednim w coraz większym stopniu zastępują silniki z wtryskiem pośrednim benzyny. Wymusza to konieczność prowadzenia badań tych jednostek w nieustalonych warunkach pracy. Celem badań była analiza nieustalonych w arunków podczas swobodnego przyspieszania silnikiem oraz przyspieszania pojazdem. Wykorzystanie systemu do analizy procesów szybkozmiennych pozwoliło na ocenę wskaźników pracy silnika w warunkach swobodnego przyspieszania i przyspieszania pojazdu przy jednoczesnym oszacowaniu strat i sprawności mechanicznej turbodoładowanego silnika z bezpośrednim wtryskiem benzyny.
Engines with spark ignition and direct injection more and more often replace those with indirect gasoline injection. Due to this it is necessary to conduct tests of those engines in transient operational conditions. The aim of these tests was the analysis of such conditions during free engine acceleration and vehicle acceleration. The use of the system for the analysis of the fast-varying processes enabled estimation of indexes of engine operation during free acceleration and vehicle acceleration and, at the same time, estimation of the losses and mechanical efficiency of the turbocharged engine with direct gasoline injection.

The paper explains how to analyse possible disturbances in the intake air stream and their impact on engine operation. The introduction outlines possible reasons that induce disorders in the intake air stream. Then the substantial differences in operational characteristics between a centrifugal and an axial compressor are enlightened. The phenomenon of an unsteady compressor, referred to as the compressor stall, is explained through presentation of the process phases when air stream detaches from the surfaces of the compressor blades. Then the paper presents how disturbances in the air stream propagate down subsequent stages of the engine compressor with the emphasis on the fact that the air stream is not able to affect the full height of blades but usually only a portion of them. In addition, the mechanism of the unsteady operation of the engine (compressor) is presented on the graph that shows fuel consumption Q as a function of the engine rpm n. Attention is drawn to the fact that the phenomenon of the engine unsteady operation is associated with the so called rotating areas of air detachments that revolute in the same direction as the engine rotor itself but their rotation speed is lower than the rotor rpm. Consequently, flame downstream the area of detachment may go out for a moment and then quickly reappear, since air is kept supplied at quite high rates. If the foregoing process fails to go in phase with the rotating areas of air detachment, it may even lead to a total flameout of the engine. Then the unsteady operation of the intake channel is discussed in details, as it is frequently mismatched with the compressor stall. The mechanism of the phenomenon origination and the consequences it entails is presented with adequate details by means of appropriated graphs. In addition, the paper explains the phenomenon of beats in the intake channel, which is a result of detachment of the wall-adjacent layer of air flow just downstream the perpendicular shock wave in the intake channel. The effect of beats frequency often leads to the engine stall. The paper ends up with conclusions, in which it is emphasized that studies on the phenomenon and familiarity with the process are extremely important for the safety of flights.

W artykule opisano wyniki badań wykonanych dla oceny wpływu dodatków paliwowych do oleju napędowego na działanie elektromagnetycznych wtryskiwaczach paliwa. Dodatki tego typu stosowane są w celu ograniczenia powstawania osadów oraz usuwania już powstałych z precyzyjnie pasowanych elementów aparatury wtryskowej. Pomiary zostały wykonane na stanowisku badawczym z zasobnikowym układem wtryskowym. Przeprowadzono analizę dawkowania paliwa w różnych warunkach pracy układu, to znaczy wartości ciśnienia zasilania i czasu trwania wtrysku. Ocenie poddano również zmianę własności fizycznych paliwa po dodaniu modyfikatora. Wprowadzane są coraz bardziej rygorystyczne normy związane z emisja zanieczyszczeń przez silniki spalinowe, w tym związane z emisją cząstek stałych. Najszersze możliwości zmniejszania emisji szkodliwych składników spalin i tym samym spełnienia nakładanych norm dają zasobnikowe systemy wtrysku. Możliwości te wynikają z dużego zakresu możliwości sterowania czasem wtrysku i momentem początku wtrysku. Duże znaczenie ma również wartość ciśnienia rozpylania paliwa uzyskiwana w tego typu układach. Uzyskanie precyzyjnego dawkowania paliwa wpływającego na przebieg jego spalania w dużej mierze uzależnione jest od szybkości i poprawności działania wtryskiwaczy. Od ich hydraulicznej charakterystyki uzależniona jest wrażliwość na zmiany właściwości paliwa wynikające z wprowadzenia modyfikatora.
The article describes the results of the research carried out in order to evaluate the influence of detergent additives to diesel engines fuel on the operation of diesel engines injection systems. This type of additives is applied in order to restrict the formation of deposits and to remove those already formed from the elements of fuel injectors. The measurements were carried out on the test stand for solenoid controlled high pressure common-rail fuel injection systems. The analysis of fuel dosing was conducted in various conditions of the work of the system, ie. the value of fuel outflow pressure from the injection nozzle and injection duration. Change of fuel physical properties after adding modifier was also evaluated. There are introduced more and more rigorous norms in relation to the emission of fumes by diesel engines, including those associated with the emission of particles. Solenoid controlled common-rail fuel injection systems give the broadest possibilities of reducing the emission of detrimental fume concentrations and all the same fulfilling the imposed norms. The possibilities result from a wide range of the capability of steering the time of injection and the moment it begins. Value of pressure of spraying fuel, obtained in this type of systems is also very significant. The obtainment of precise fuel dosing, having the influence on the course of burning, depends to a large extent on the velocity and correctness of the operation of the injection systems. The proneness to the changes of fuel properties resulting from the introduction of a modifier depends on their hydraulic characteristics. In other side due to clearances 1 to 2 microns even minimal internal diesel injector deposits on the injector pintal or other components can lead to sticking and even seizure.

The purpose of the paper is to compare selected operation parameters of an engine supplied with, respectively, commercial diesel oil and the B20 mixture (80 v/v % of diesel oil and 20 v/v % of rape oil fatty acid methyl esters). During the tests, the engine was running following the load characteristics at crankshaft rotational speed of 1750 rpm and 4000 rpm, respectively. The paper describes the test stand and block diagram of a system designed for measuring cylinder pressure, injection line pressure and injector operation control current. The emissions of nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide were measured during the tests.
Celem artykułu jest porównanie wybranych parametrów pracy silnika zasilanego handlowym olejem napędowym i mieszaniną B20 (80 % V/V oleju napędowego i 20 % V/V estrów metylowych kwasów tłuszczowych oleju rzepakowego). Podczas badań silnik pracował według charakterystyk obciążeniowych przy prędkościach obrotowych wału korbowego 1750 obr/min i 4000 obr/min. W artykule opisano stanowisko badawcze oraz schemat blokowy układu do pomiaru ciśnienia w cylindrze, ciśnienia w przewodzie wtryskowym i prądu sterującego pracą wtryskiwacza. Podczas badań mierzono emisję tlenków azotu, węglowodorów, tlenku węgla i dwutlenku węgla.

A piston-rings-cylinder (PRC) assembly determines the blowby, engine oil consumption, and friction and wear processes accompanying the system's operation. Thus, it is crucial for the whole IC engine efficiency and lifetime. A lot of research effort is put into increasing the performance of this complex and highly dynamic system. Advanced, comprehensive models play an important role in understanding and improving the PRC system. In the presented work, the effect of load on the operation of the ring pack of an automotive gasoline engine is analyzed. A comprehensive model that covers the gas flow through the crevices of the PRC system, ring displacements in the groove, and ring lubrication was used for this analysis. The results of the simulations show that the local thickness of the oil film, especially near the piston top dead center is compared to the height of the combined surface roughness of a cylinder liner and piston rings, and friction-related asperity contact strongly increases as the engine load increases. The simulations also show that the engine load affects the axial displacements of the rings in the grooves but practically does not affect the thickness of the oil film left by the ring pack on the cylinder liner.

Internal combustion engines represent the largest share of motor vehicle propulsion types. Despite the introduction of alternative drives (hybrid and electric), combustion engines will continue to be the main factor in the development of transport. Therefore, work related to their technological development and reduction of their harmful effects on human health and the environment is required. The development of internal combustion engines can be seen in two directions: technological changes resulting in increased efficiency of such engines and the second direction connected with limitation of exhaust gas emission. The present work is included in the second direction of research interests and concerns the analysis of various operating conditions of internal combustion engines. The operating states, both static and dynamic, determine the operational properties of internal combustion engines, such as fuel and energy consumption as well as pollutant emissions. Sofar, such operating conditions have only been mapped on a chassis dynamometer in various homologation tests. The course of the type approval test was known and the conditions of measurement were also known, which made it impossible to introduce a random factor into such tests. Currently, these properties are determined in tests performed in real vehicle operating conditions – RDE (Real Driving Emissions). Such tests are representing real operating conditions of motor vehicles. Limitations for performing tests in real traffic conditions are, apart from formal requirements concerning the duration and distance of individual parts, the dynamic conditions of vehicles determined by the speed and acceleration of the vehicle. The study analyzed the properties of vehicle speed processes and engine operating states in the RDE test, taking into account its individual phases – driving in urban, rural and motorway conditions. Engine operation states are the processes of the engine rotational speed and its relative torque. It was found that the dynamic properties of the vehicle speed process are much more significant than the engine operating states. It was also found that the road emission of pollutants in the RDE test, which is the property of vehicles measured in the test, the motorway phase properties have greatest impact.

This paper describes the way of modernization of the direct operation fuel feeding system of diesel engine. Effective, ecological and economical characteristics of a modern diesel engine are greatly de-termined by parameters of using fuel-feeding system. Thus, in modern conditions, fuel-feeding systems have to fulfil specified requirements, which are mainly connected with fuel supply process intensification, possibility of adaptable regulation of fuel injection lead angle, cycle fuel delivering and injection characteristic at full range of engine operation regimes. At present time accumulator fuel feeding systems Common Rail type, fulfil these requirements best of all. However, despite its advantages, those kinds of systems have number of disadvantages. The main ones are high price and structural complexity of the system elements. Because of this Common Rail does not have wide using in the diesel engines with number of cylinders less than three. Although that type of diesels exactly is universal mechanical energy, source and can be used in many types of machinery, including ones with strict ecological norms. However, up to now these engines are equipped with the direct operation fuel feeding system that despite its high reliability and low price is worse than accumulator systems in the injection pressure level and possibilities of fuel feeding process control. Thus, main objective of a modernization of the direct operation fuel feeding system is topical. Speed forcing of high-pressure fuel pump was used. Maximal injection pressure is successfully increased 1.42 times. It provides intensification of fuel injection process. Implementation of the electronic control allows counting this method of fuel feeding system modernization promising for small diesel engines.

The article presents complexity of the problem concerning development of diagnosis with defined reliability by a diagnosing system (SDG) on technical condition of marine combustion engines, especially main engines. It was shown that development of the final diagnosis, the so-called initial operation diagnosis, on the operational usability (fDG on PEx) of a main engine in particular, is not possible without prior development of reliable diagnoses such as: diagnosis on correctness of diagnostic signals, diagnosis on correctness of values of the measured diagnostic parameters of an engine (DG on pWM), diagnosis on technical condition of an engine (DG on ST) and initial diagnosis on operational usability of an engine (wDG on PEx), the so-called initial operation diagnosis. Difficulties in development of the diagnoses were emphasized herein due to the fact that the process of acquisition of information needed to develop diagnoses with certain reliability or accuracy is a two-dimensional stochastic process with components: B(t) – being considered during operation (use) of SDG (at so-called long time - quasistatic) and C(ʋ) – being considered while measuring diagnostic parameters and diagnostic inference (at so-called short time - dynamic). The need to determine reliability or accuracy rate of each diagnosis in the form of conditional probability P(S/K) was also indicated, where S – technical state of the engine and K – vector of values of diagnostic parameters reflecting state S. Diagnostic status of marine engine as a diagnosed system (SDN) was characterized in general, on the example of an engine operation process with regards to input (X), output (Y), constant (C) and interference (Z) values. Also there was explained how to understand the terms: diagnostic test, signal inference, measurement inference, structure inference and operation inference, and how inductive inference can be used to verify, for example, the hypothesis H on engine state S when vector K of values of engine diagnostic parameters is observed.

Operation of ship propulsion system is associated with realization of definite operational goals. If to elements of the system the operational reliability strategy could be applied, the situation would be very simple as existing conditions would unambiguously determine application of means being on hand. However decision to reject application of the strategy (even if hypothetical) becomes obvious with a view of necessity of ensuring an acceptable level of safety to ship and environment as well as presence of associated formal and legal limitations. Therefore complexity of operational reality makes that means intended for operation may be used in various ways. Objectivity and rationality in making decision, assumed optimal in given conditions, forces to apply an evaluating (quantitative) approach to the problem, hence to search for such their parameters (indices) which, in a given decision situation, can be deemed most adequate. To precisely determine the task it is necessary to specify also its duration time, apart from conditions in which it will be realized. When considering propulsion engine, i.e. the main element of ship propulsion system, especially important becomes not only the problem which amount of energy could be at one's disposal but also within which time interval it could be delivered. Therefore apart from applying the commonly used reliability indices, it seems sensible to consider the operation in such evaluating approach as it could be determined by energy and time simultaneously.

Artykuł przedstawia wyniki badań drgań silnika o zapłonie samoczynnym stosowanym w ciągniku rolniczym, wykorzystującym zmodyfikowaną klasyczną rzędową pompę wtryskową. Celem przeprowadzonych pomiarów było wyznaczenie wartości przyspieszeń drgań silnika oraz określenie wpływu sterowania procesem wtrysku paliwa na nierównomierność pracy silnika o zapłonie samoczynnym. Badania wykonano dla różnych trybów pracy silnika, sterowania dawką wtryskową oraz obciążenia. Do badań wykorzystano sygnały z czujników przemieszczenia oraz czujnika prędkości obrotowej wału korbowego silnika. Przedstawione w pracy wyniki badań potwierdzają, że odpowiedni dobór parametrów wtrysku paliwa wpływa na poprawę równomierności pracy silnika o zapłonie samoczynnym. Dodatkowo potwierdzają celowość podjętych modernizacji klasycznej rzędowej pompy wtryskowej, dzięki możliwości tego systemu do dowolnego kształtowania przebiegu wtrysku paliwa oraz realizacji wtrysku wielofazowego.
The article presents research results of a compression ignition engine used in a farm tractor using a modified classic row injection pump. The purpose of the measurements, which were carried out was to determine the value of acceleration of engine vibrations as well as to assess the influence of controlling the process of fuel injection on unevenness of a compression ignition engine operation. The research was carried out for different modes of engine operation, controlling an injection dose and a load. Signals from movement sensors and from a rotational speed sensor of an engine crankshaft speed sensor were used for the research. The research results, which have been presented in the paper, confirm that a suitable selection of fuel injection parameters influences the improvement of a compression ignition engine operation. Additionally, they prove the purposefulness of modernisation of a classic row injection pump due to ability of the system to shape the course of fuel injections voluntarily and to carry out a multi-phase injection.

A method is presented for evaluating the performance of piston internal combustion engines used as the main engines on sea-going ships and acting in typical operating conditions. These conditions are described taking into account the performance area of engines of this type. The presented method provides opportunities for calculating the numerical effect of the action using the integral calculus. The above effect is presented as a physical quantity expressed by a number with the metric unit called the joule-second. Proposed is the use of types of integrands (which are functional dependences of the energy converted in these engines on time) which make it possible to use the second fundamental theorem of calculus justifying the use of the Newton-Leibniz formula. The object of the analysis is the process of changes of the energy converted in the internal combustion engines during their operation, described with the aid of a deterministic model of the real process taking into account its sample realisation.

The article presents an issues concerning selection of controlling algorithms for operation of supercharged compression ignition engine fueled additionally with CNG gas, including implemented control procedures, adjustment algorithms and operational algorithms. As the result, the engine which is run in dual fuel system operates under control of two controllers, factory ECU controller, governing fueling with the base fuel (Diesel oil) and all fueling parameters, and the second controller for gaseous fuel supply. Priority of operation of the controllers relates to fueling with Diesel oil, while the gas is treated as supplementary fuel. Due to possibility of usage of factorymade original ECU controller as used with Diesel oil supply; it has been presented proposal of its software in form of array algorithms.

W artykule przedstawiono metodę analizy przyspieszeń drgań zarejestrowanych na obudowie wytwornicy spalin silnika turbinowego LM 2500 w różnych stanach pracy (ustalonych i nieustalonych). Jedną z zalet metody jest wykorzystanie informacji o rzeczywistej prędkości obrotowej wału wytwornicy spalin z sygnału czujnika obrotów wykorzystywanego przez układ sterowania silnikiem. Poprawność działania algorytmów przetwarzania zarejestrowanych sygnałów, opartych na przedstawionej metodzie, sprawdzono podczas badań na obiektach rzeczywistych. Zaproponowana metoda może być wykorzystana w systemach monitorowania pracy oraz diagnozowania stanu technicznego silnika.
The paper presents a method used to analyze of vibration acceleration recorded on gas- -turbine housing of LM 2500 in different operation conditions (stationary and transient states). One of the advantages of this method is that it can use the information related to the true rotational speed of the turbine shaft. The correctness of the process algorithms was verified during a test done on a real object. The method proposed could be used in systems monitoring performance and technical condition of an engine.

A set of piston rings is used to form a dynamic gas seal between the piston and cylinder wall. Many physical phenomena are associated with the operation of the system piston-ring-cylinder (PRC), such as: inter-ring gas dynamics for the labyrinth seal, hydrodynamic lubrication and mixed friction in gaps between the rings and cylinder liner, oil flow and distribution of lubricant along the liner, twist motion of rings, liner temperature influence on the oil viscosity. A complex model of the PRC system has been developed by the author. Among own models it includes several sub-models taken from literature, like: a model of viscous oil flow between rough gap surfaces formulated by Patir and Cheng and an elastic contact model of Greenwood and Tripp. The main parts of the mathematical model and software have been experimentally verified abroad by the author at the marine engine-designing centre. A relatively good qualitative and quantitative compatibility between the experimental measurements and calculated results has been achieved. In contrast to the previous papers of the author, new calculation results for a marine two-stroke engine have been presented. These results concern influence of engine load on piston ring pack operation of the analysed engine. They include basic physical quantities associated with gas and oil flow in the piston-ring-cylinder system of the engine. The developed model can be utilized for: evaluation of gas leakage through the sealing ring set, prediction of lubrication conditions of piston rings and oil consumption, defining areas of the possible cylinder liner wear and profile changes of piston rings sliding surfaces, and thus can be useful for optimization of the PRC system design.

Recent investigations of micro engines have documented the problem of low efficiency of steady compression devices. As a solution, the application of unsteady processes has been proposed. Closer investigations have shown the applicability of pure unsteady devices for gas compression, but it is also shown that they are practically not applicable for torque generation. A new concept of the wave engine has to be developed. This paper presents such a new concept and numerical investigation of the hybrid wave engine. A hybrid wave engine combines in a single machine components realizing unsteady compression, steady expansion, and mixed unsteady and steady scavenging due to the centrifugal force action. MEMS technology requires or prefers a flat geometry. Therefore, the use of a radial type of wave compression device for air compression is proposed. A numerical, two-dimensional complete model of this device was built, and several numerical simulations of engine operations were performed. The numerical model includes the simplified model of the combustion chamber closing the flow loop between the high-pressure compressed air port and the high-pressure hot exhaust gas port. The model represents the complete flow scheme of the hybrid wave engine. A special type of turbine in radial configuration with serial flow layout is used for torque generation.
Badania prowadzone nad mikrosilnikami przepływowymi ukazały ich główną wadę jaką jest niska sprawność stacjonarnego procesu sprężania wynikająca z ich małych wymiarów. Jako rozwiązanie tego problemu proponuje się zastosowanie nieustalonych procesów sprężania. Dalsze badania wykazały ich przydatność w procesie sprężania lecz nieprzydatność do wytwarzania momentu napędowego. Dlatego też opracowano nową koncepcję falowego mikro silnika łączącego korzystne cechy stacjonarnych i niestacjonarnych procesów przepływu. W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono nową ideę hybrydowego silnika falowego i numeryczne symulacje jego działania. W proponowanym hybrydowym silniku falowym zastosowano elementy konstrukcyjne wywołujące nieustalone sprężanie a stacjonarne rozprężanie, mieszanego typu (nieustalone i ustalone) opróżnianie komór sprężająco-rozprężających wspomagane działaniem sił odśrodkowych. Ponieważ technologia stosowana w przypadku urządzeń typu MEMS preferuje a czasem wręcz wymaga płaskiej geometrii, zastosowano układ sprężający typu promieniowego. Zbudowany został numeryczny, dwu-wymiarowy model silnika zawierający wszystkie typowo modelowane jego elementy oraz uproszczony model komory spalania zamykający obieg sprężonego powietrza pomiędzy wylotem z układu sprężającego a wlotem do układu rozprężającego. Do wytwarzania momentu obrotowego wykorzystano promieniową turbinę specjalnego typu z szeregowym układem stopni rozprężania.
