The paper introduces an approach that allows the user spotting by video camera moving cars between traffic lanes. The syntactic primitives and the description language were defined. The algorithms of the vehicles trajectories movement recognition are also under consideration in this paper.

In this article it is offered the ways to improve the maneuverability of three-link metrobuses by choosing a rational layout scheme and design parameters of its trailer units. Considering that the movement of the metrobus is carried out on direct routes, that is, the maneuverability of the metrobus is appropriate to determine by the overall traffic lane (OTL) size. OTL equal to the difference of the radii of rotation of the points of the train, the farthest and closest to the center, that is, the difference of the overall radii of rotation - the outer (Rz = 12.5 m) and internal (Rv = 5.3 m). The methodology for calculating OTL is based on determining the angles of assembly of the road train links and the offset of the driven links trajectories relative to the trajectory of the master. Maneuverability indicators of the three-link metrobus are defined on elastic in the lateral direction wheels. Studies were performed for one-way rotation and ISO maneuvering with the obtained trajectories of links and the overall traffic lane of a metrobus with guided and unmanaged trailer links.

The paper indicated the results of the vehicle motion trajectory calculations determined on the basis of the recorded waveforms of the acceleration vector and angular velocity components during the double lane change maneuver, taking into account the errors of acceleration sensors reset (zeroing). For the sake of simplicity, it was assumed that the zeroing errors apply only to the linear acceleration sensors, while the angular velocity sensors show exact values at the time t = 0 s (when starting the double lane change maneuver). During the analysis of the results of the experimental research, the vehicle kinematics model was used, in which right-handed coordinate systems were used: global and two local coordinate systems. The differences in the results of the calculations were determined and possible causes of these differences were indicated. The test results indicate that special attention should be paid to zeroing the acceleration sensors, in particular the ay component.

This study addresses the use of non-motorized transportation. The global benefits of the bike paths, bike lanes, and other types of bicycle-specific infrastructure consist of a reduction in traffic congestion and a decrease in emissions of greenhouse gasses and other pollutants that commuters face today. Additional indirect benefits, of no less value, demonstrate the benefits and viability of bicycles and non-motorized transport. These findings suggest that lack of pollutions and low cost of this form of transport for commuting will encourage the adoption and development of similar facilities elsewhere around the world.

The actual motivation of this paper is to develop a functional link between artificial neural network (ANN) with Legendre polynomials and simulated annealing termed as Legendre simulated annealing neural network (LSANN). To demonstrate the applicability, it is employed to study the nonlinear Lane-Emden singular initial value problem that governs the polytropic and isothermal gas spheres. In LSANN, minimization of error is performed by simulated annealing method while Legendre polynomials are used in hidden layer to control the singularity problem. Many illustrative examples of Lane-Emden type are discussed and results are compared with the formerly used algorithms. As well as with accuracy of results and tranquil implementation it provides the numerical solution over the entire finite domain.

Computational intelligence firmly made its way into the areas of consumer applications, banking, education, social networks, and security. Among all the applications, biometric systems play a significant role in ensuring an uncompromised and secure access to resources and facilities. This article presents a first multimodal biometric system that combines KINECT gait modality with KINECT face modality utilizing the rank level and the score level fusion. For the KINECT gait modality, a new approach is proposed based on the skeletal information processing. The gait cycle is calculated using three consecutive local minima computed for the distance between left and right ankles. The feature distance vectors are calculated for each person’s gait cycle, which allows extracting the biometric features such as the mean and the variance of the feature distance vector. For Kinect face recognition, a novel method based on HOG features has been developed. Then, K-nearest neighbors feature matching algorithm is applied as feature classification for both gait and face biometrics. Two fusion algorithms are implemented. The combination of Borda count and logistic regression approaches are used in the rank level fusion. The weighted sum method is used for score level fusion. The recognition accuracy obtained for multi-modal biometric recognition system tested on KINECT Gait and KINECT Eurocom Face datasets is 93.33% for Borda count rank level fusion, 96.67% for logistic regression rank-level fusion and 96.6% for score level fusion.

Warsaw has the most developed public transportation system in Poland and, therefore, the longest network of bus only lanes. The studies show a significant number of their violations made by individual vehicles, mostly because of complex traffic conditions and lack of physical separation from the other road lanes. This situation leads not only to road traffic law violations, but also mainly to disturbance in regularity and efficiency of bus connections. According to similar solutions implemented in other cities, Motor Transport Institute designed a concept bus lane enforcement system for Warsaw, which comprises the analysis of state-of-the-art law regulations on using monitoring systems in Poland, as well as operational and technical conditions for implementing the designed system and the concept of the system and system architecture itself. During the research, Motor Transport Institute conducted a complex audit of the bus lanes, in result of which the desired locations for ANPR camera points were identified. The article thoroughly describes the Polish law regulations on ANPR cameras location and confronts is with the actual needs regarding specific urban road sections. It also presents the methodology adopted for localizing the camera points. As a result, several examples of proposed locations are presented and discussed in terms of their compliance with the regulations, necessity for changing the traffic system on the specific road section and efficiency in bus lane enforcement.

After designing the final range of open pit mines, one of the first essential decisions to be made in the production planning framework is to determine the cutoff grade. The cutoff grade of mines, due to interconnections with technical and economic parameters, is one of the most important parameters for the design of open pit mines. Considering the fundamental role of plant cutoff grade on the economical operation of a mine, the optimal selection of this grade is of great importance. One of the main problems in mining operations is how to determine the optimal cutoff grades of ore deposits at different periods during the life of a mine, it can be considered based on one of the goals of maximizing annual profit or net present value extraction during the mining period. Despite the existence of a range of different techniques for determining the optimal cutoff grade, Lane's algorithm is usually the most widely used cutoff grade optimization technique, which is calculated taking into account the technical and economic factors of production. Cutoff grade optimization with the goal of maximizing the net present value over the years of the mine's life, as well as the correlation with the distribution of the grade and tonnage of the remaining ore, requires a long calculation process, especially for large mines. In this research, optimal cutoff grade programming based on Lane's theory and aimed at maximizing the net present value in MATLAB software (computer model) has been carried out. Mineral operations consist of three phases: mining, processing, and refining. In single-product and single-process mode, the optimum cut-off grade and the net present value of production are calculated for each year of the mine's life. After validating the outputs of the model, the implementation of the computer model based on the data of Gol Gohar iron mine No.1 in a five-year plan was carried out. The changes in optimal cutoff grade and changes in net present value from 48.65% to 18,582 billion rials in the early years of the mine increased to 40.5% and approximately 3000 billion rials at the end of the mine's life.

Autonomous driving vehicle could increase driving efficiency, reduce traffic congestion and improve driving safety, it is considered as the solution of current traffic problems. Decision making systems for autonomous driving vehicles have significant effects on driving performance. The performance of decision making system is affected by its framework and decision making model. In real traffic scenarios, the driving condition of autonomous driving vehicle faced is random and time-varying, the performance of current decision making system is unable to meet the full scene autonomous driving requirements. For autonomous driving vehicle, the division between different driving behaviors needs clear boundary conditions. Typically, in lane change scenario, multiple reasonable driving behavior choices cause conflict of driving state. The fundamental cause of conflict lies in overlapping boundary conditions. To design a decision making system for autonomous driving vehicles, firstly, based on the decomposition of human driver operation process, five basic driving behavior modes are constructed, a driving behavior decision making framework for autonomous driving vehicle based on finite state machine is proposed. Then, to achieve lane change decision making for autonomous driving vehicle, lane change behavior characteristics of human driver lane change maneuver are analyzed and extracted. Based on the analysis, multiple attributes such as driving efficiency and safety are considered, all attributes benefits are quantified and the driving behavior benefit evaluation model is established. By evaluating the benefits of all alternative driving behaviors, the optimal driving behavior for current driving scenario is output. Finally, to verify the performances of the proposed decision making model, a series of real vehicle tests are implemented in different scenarios, the real time performance, effectiveness, and feasibility performance of the proposed method is accessed. The results show that the proposed driving behavior decision making model has good feasibility, real-time performance and multi-choice filtering performance in dynamic traffic scenarios.

Roundabouts are commonly used worldwide because they offer several advantages over traditional intersections. The capacity that a roundabout can handle is an important factor in ensuring smooth traffic flow at a particular location. Therefore, various models have been developed to describe traffic conditions and driver behaviour at different sites or countries. However, existing models cannot be directly applied to other countries without proper calibration of the models to ensure an accurate estimation of capacity. In this study, five roundabouts in Hungary were selected to develop a general capacity model and compare it with international models. First, all sets of entry and circulating data were obtained from video recordings of each roundabout entry. These data were used to develop a model for each entry and then for each roundabout separately. Finally, all the data sets from all sixteen entries were used to develop a general capacity model (GM). The general capacity model (GM) was compared with the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) 2016, the Brilon-Bondzio, and the Brilon-Wu models. The maximum capacity of the general capacity model (GM) was 1390 pcu/h, slightly higher than the maximum capacity of the HCM 2016 model of 1380 pcu/h. The percentage differences between the generated general capacity model (GM), HCM 2016, Brilon-Bondzio, and Brilon-Wu models were +0.71%, +12.4%, and +10.7%, respectively.

The topic of the paper is relevant in the field of optimal growth theory and therefore might be seen as an intellectual underpinning for research and practice in the field of transition economies and sustainable long-time development as well. It refers to the papers Panek (2015a, 2018) devoted to asymptotic properties of optimal growth properties in the non-stationary Gale type economy with single and multi-lane turnpikes in which it was assumed that changing production technology converges in time with certain limits of technology. As far as the postulate of a non-stationary economy (here: technology change) is consistent with real processes, the hypothesis of the existence of some limiting technology may raise controversies and be difficult to verify. In the paper, referring to the above mentioned publications and Panek (2014), a Gale-type economy with changing technology, multi-lane turnpike and time-increasing production efficiency, with no assumption concerning the existence of a limit technology will be examined.

The paper presents study results about determination Wide-Lane Hardware Delays in GPS system. For this purpose GPS data from RYKI reference station were used. Melbourne-Wübbena linear combination were applied for estimation WHD. Computations were executed in SciTEC software, which code source was written in Scilab 5.4.1. Firstly, results from SciTEC software show that WHD are very stable over few days. In this paper 4 experiments are presented. Accuracy of WHD in submitted paper is less than 2 ns. Over few days, magnitude order of mean SWHD is ± 1 ns, what corresponds to 0.3 cycle of wavelength in L6 combination. Difference between maximum and minimum value of SWHD over 6 days is about ± 2.5 ns. RWHD over few days are so very stable, with mean value about 0.154 ns. Standard deviation of daily repeatability RWHD parameter is less than 0.07 ns, what corresponds to 2% of wavelength in L6 combination.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to refine a commercial car driving simulation for occupational research. As the effects of ethanol on driving behavior are well established, we choose alcohol as a test compound to investigate the performance of subjects during simulation. Materials and Methods: We programmed a night driving scenario consisting of monotonous highway and a rural road on a Foerst F10-P driving simulator. Twenty healthy men, 19-30 years, participated in a pilot study. Subjects were screened for simulator sickness, followed by training on the simulator one hour in total. Experiments were performed in the morning on a separate day. Participants were randomized into either an alcoholized or a control group. All subjects drove two courses consisting of highway and rural road and were sober for the first course. During a 1 h break the ethanol group drank an alcoholic beverage to yield 0.06% blood alcohol concentration (BAC). Generalized linear mixed models were used to analyze the influence of alcohol on driving performance. Among others, independent variables were Simulator Sickness Questionnaire scores and subjective sleepiness. Results: Subjects did not experience simulator sickness during the experiments. Mean BAC before the second test drive was 0.065% in the mildly intoxicated group. There was no clear-cut difference in the number of crashes between 2 groups. BAC of 0.1% would deteriorate mean braking reaction time by 237 ms (SE = 112, p < 0.05). Ethanol slightly impaired the tracking in the righthand curves (p = 0.058). Braking reaction time improved by 86 ms (SE = 36, p < 0.05) for the second test drive, indicating a learning effect. Conclusions: In sum, a clear ethanol effect was observed in the driving simulation. This simulation seems suitable for occupational research and produces little simulator sickness. Controlling for possible learning effects is recommended in driving simulation studies.
