Using the methods of differential subordination and superordination, sufficient conditions are determined on the differential linear operator of meromorphic functions in the punctured unit disk to obtain, respectively, the best dominant and the best subordinant. New sandwich-type results are also obtained.

The zero-term rank of a matrix is the minimum number of lines (row or columns) needed to cover all the zero entries of the given matrix. We characterize the linear operators that preserve the zero-term rank of the m × n integer matrices. That is, a linear operator T preserves the zero-term rank if and only if it has the form T(A)=P(A ∘ B)Q, where P, Q are permutation matrices and A ∘ B is the Schur product with B whose entries are all nonzero integers.

For a rank-1 matrix $A = a ⊗ b^{t}$ over max algebra, we define the perimeter of A as the number of nonzero entries in both a and b. We characterize the linear operators which preserve the rank and perimeter of rank-1 matrices over max algebra. That is, a linear operator T preserves the rank and perimeter of rank-1 matrices if and only if it has the form T(A) = U ⊗ A ⊗ V, or $T(A) = U ⊗ A^{t} ⊗ V$ with some monomial matrices U and V.

Opis:
Expressing a linear operator ƒ on a finite-dimensional vector space over any field K as a sum of two commuting operators – semisimple and nilpotent – is called the Jordan-Chevalley decomposition of ƒ. It is known that this decomposition exists for an arbitrary ƒ if only K is perfect. In this paper we give some methods for determining the decomposition.
Zapis operatora liniowego działającego na skończenie wymiarowej przestrzeni wektorowej nad dowolnym ciałem K w postaci sumy dwóch przemiennych operatorów – półprostego i nilpotentnego – nazywamy rozkładem Jordana-Chevalleya tego operatora.Wiadomo, że jeśli K jest ciałem doskonałym, to taki rozkład istnieje dla dowolnego operatora. Celem artykułu jest omówienie metod wyznaczenia postulowanego rozkładu.

A certain non-linear differential equation containing a power of unknown function being the solution is considered with application to selected geotechnical problems. The equation can be derived to a linear differential equation by a proper substitution and properties of operations G and S.
Pewne nieliniowe równanie różniczkowe jest analizowane pod kątem zastosowań do rozwiązywania wybranych problemów geotechnicznych, które modelowane są jako nieliniowe, bądź liniowe o współczynnikach funkcyjnych. Dane równanie różniczkowe jest sprowadzane analitycznie do równania różniczkowego liniowego i odwrotnie dzięki właściwościom iteracji operacji G oraz właściwościom operacji S.

The gradient method is developed for non-injective non-linear operators in Hilbert space that satisfy a translation invariance condition. The focus is on a class of non-differentiable operators. Linear convergence in norm is obtained. The method can be applied to quasilinear elliptic boundary value problems with Neumann boundary conditions.

This paper investigates the notion of practical feedback stabilization of evolution equations satisfying some relaxed conditions in infinite-dimensional Banach spaces. Moreover, sufficient conditions are presented that guarantee practical stabilizability of uncertain systems based on Lyapunov functions. These results are applied to partial differential equations.

This paper provides sufficient conditions on a quasisymmetric automorphism γ of the unit circle which guarantee the existence of the smallest positive eigenvalue of γ. They are expressed by means of a regular quasiconformal Teichmüller self-mapping φ of the unit disc Δ. In particular, the norm of the generalized harmonic conjugation operator $A_γ:ℍ → ℍ$ is determined by the maximal dilatation of φ. A characterization of all eigenvalues of a quasisymmetric automorphism γ in terms of the smallest positive eigenvalue of some other quasisymmetric automorphism σ is given.

This paper concerns two notions of rank of fuzzy matrices: maximal column rank and column rank. We investigate the difference of them. We also characterize the linear operators which preserve the maximal column rank of fuzzy matrices. Using tools of approximation theory, we evaluate rates of bias convergence for sequences of generalized L-statistics based on i.i.d. samples under mild smoothness conditions on the weight function and simple moment conditions on the score function. Apart from standard methods of weighting, we introduce and analyze L-statistics with possibly random coefficients defined by means of positive linear functionals acting on the weight function.

In this paper, we study multivalued linear operators (MLO's) and their resolvents in non reflexive Banach spaces, introducing a new condition of a minimal growth at infinity, more general than the Hille-Yosida condition. Then we describe the generalized semigroups induced by MLO's. We present a criterion for an MLO to be a generator of a generalized semigroup in an arbitrary Banach space. Finally, we obtain some existence results for differential inclusions with MLO's and various types of multivalued nonlinearities. As a consequence, we give theorems on the existence of local, global and bounded solutions of the Cauchy problem for degenerate differential inclusions.
