Opis:
In the article the results of simulation and experimental studies of the movement of a four-wheeled mobile platform, taking into account wheel slip have been presented. The simulation results have been based on the dynamics of the four-wheel mobile platform. The dynamic model of the system motion takes into account the relationship between the active and passive forces accompanying the platform motion, especially during wheel slip. The formulated initial problem describing the motion of the system has been solved by the Runge-Kutta method of the fourth order. The proposed computational model including the platform dynamics model has been verified in experimental studies using the LEO Rover robot. The motion parameters obtained on the basis of the adopted computational model in the form of trajectories, velocities and accelerations have been compared with the results of experimental tests, and the results of this comparison have been included in the paper. The proposed computational model can be useful in various situations, e.g., real-time control, where models with a high degree of complexity are useless due to the computation time. The simulation results obtained on the basis of the proposed model are sufficiently compatible with the results of experimental tests of motion parameters obtained for the selected type of mobile robot.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of experimental verification on using a zero-sum differential game and H∞ control in the problems of tracking and stabilizing motion of a wheeled mobile robot (WMR). It is a new approach to the synthesis of input-output systems based on the theory of dissipative systems in the sense of the possibility of their practical application. This paper expands upon the problem of optimal control of a nonlinear, nonholonomic wheeled mobile robot by including the reduced impact of changing operating condtions and possible disturbances of the robot’s complex motion. The proposed approach is based on the H∞ control theory and the control is generated by the neural approximation solution to the Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs equation. Our verification experiments confirm that the H∞ condition is met for reduced impact of disturbances in the task of tracking and stabilizing the robot motion in the form of changing operating conditions and other disturbances, which made it possible to achieve high accuracy of motion.

Opis:
The work presents dynamics of a system of two wheeled mobile robots cooperating in the transport of large-size cargo in the form of a beam. The purpose of modeling of such a system was to obtain a mathematical model in an applicable form. Lagrange equations of the second type were used to describe dynamics, and then the projective method was used to eliminate Lagrange multipliers. Thanks to this approach, unknown dry friction forces at the contact points of robot wheels with the ground were eliminated from the description, and dynamics in controllable coordinates was obtained. In addition, the obtained model has structural properties that enable its use in synthesis of a control system based on the mathematical model.

Opis:
In the paper, a kinematical model of the robot moving on uneven terrain has been presented. Configuration of the robot placed on uneven terrain is described, presenting the redundant set of variables that create the state of the robot. Inverse kinematics tasks have been defined, which as a result of various assumptions, gives the robot configuration. To solve the kinematics tasks, adequate closed-loop equations have been defined. Velocity equations of the point of the wheel contact with the ground have been presented with respect to the velocity of the platform itself and velocities of the robot actuators. Assuming constraints of the wheel movement causing a no-slip condition, dependencies between those velocities have been determined. This allowed one to determine velocities of the robot drives, so that the platform moves in the way specified by the user.

The work presents the dynamic equations of motion of a wheeled mobile robot with mecanum wheels derived with the use of Lagrange equations of the second kind. Mecanum wheels are a new type of wheels used in wheeled mobile robots and they consist of freely rotating rollers attached to the circumference of the wheels. In order to derive dynamic equations of motion of a wheeled mobile robot, the kinetic energy of the system is determined, as well as the generalised forces affecting the system. The resulting mathematical model of a wheeled mobile robot was generated with the use of Maple V software. The results of a solution of inverse and forward problems of dynamics of the discussed object are also published.

This study is devoted to the modeling and control of a 4-wheel, skid-steering mobile platform with coupled side wheels, subject to lateral and longitudinal slips. The dynamics equations of the platform are derived, and 16 variants of motion distinguished. For the variant of motion allowing for all possible slips of the wheels two control problems are addressed: the motion planning problem and the trajectory tracking problem. The former problem is solved by means of a Jacobian motion planning algorithm based on the Endogenous Configuration Space Approach and, complementarily, using the Optimal Control Approach. The Nonlinear Model Predictive Control is applied to the latter problem. Performance of these control algorithms is illustrated by a sort of the parking problem. Significant robustness of the predictive control algorithm against the model uncertainty is revealed.

Opis:
This paper analyses a trajectory tracking control problem for a wheeled mobile robot, Rusing integration of a kinematic neural controller (KNC) and a torque neural controller (TNC), in which both the kinematic and dynamic models contain uncertainties and disturbances. The proposed adaptive neural controller (PANC) is composed of the KNC and the TNC and is designed with use of a modeling technique of Gaussian radial basis function neural networks (RBFNNs). The KNC is a variable structure controller, based on the sliding mode theory and is applied to compensate for the disturbances of the wheeled mobile robot kinematics. The TNC is an inertia-based controller composed of a dynamic neural controller (DNC) and a robust neural compensator (RNC) applied to compensate for the wheeled mobile robot dynamics, bounded unknown disturbances, and neural network modeling errors. To minimize the problems found in practical implementations of the classical variable structure controllers (VSC) and sliding mode controllers (SMC), and to eliminate the chattering phenomenon, the nonlinear and continuous KNC and RNC of the TNC are applied in lieu of the discontinuous components of the control signals that are present in classical forms. Additionally, the PANC neither requires the knowledge of the wheeled mobile robot kinematics and dynamics nor the timeconsuming training process. Stability analysis, convergence of the tracking errors to zero, and the learning algorithms for the weights are guaranteed based on the Lyapunov method. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Opis:
This paper concerns an energy efficient global path planning algorithm for a four-wheeled mobile robot (4WMR). First, the appropriate graph search methods for robot path planning are described. The A* heuristic algorithm is chosen to find an optimal path on a 2D tile-decomposed map. Various criteria of optimization in path planning, like mobility, distance, or energy are reviewed. The adequate terrain representation is introduced. Each cell in the map includes information about ground height and type. Tire-ground interface for every terrain type is characterized by coefficients of friction and rolling resistance. The goal of the elaborated algorithm is to find an energy minimizing route for the given environment, based on the robot dynamics, its motor characteristics, and power supply constraints. The cost is introduced as a function of electrical energy consumption of each motor and other robot devices. A simulation study was performed in order to investigate the power consumption level for diverse terrain. Two 1600 m2 test maps, representing field and urban environments, were decomposed into 20x20 equal-sized square-shaped elements. Several simulation experiments have been carried out to highlight the differences between energy consumption of the classic shortest path approach, where cost function is represented as the path length, and the energy efficient planning method, where cost is related to electrical energy consumed during robot motion.

Two kinematic control algorithms - Samson and Morin-Samson - have been tested taking into account their sensitivity to a white noise with a zero mean appearing in the one of state variables. The properties of path following errors have been analysed using statistical techniques. The conclusions related to an acceptable level of noise and a range of applicability of the presented algorithms have been reached.

Opis:
In presented paper a new approach to a collision-free trajectory generating for a wheeled mobile robot with Adaptive Critic Designs and Fuzzy Logic algorithm, is proposed. The presented discrete hierarchical control system consists of a trajectory generating algorithm based on a reactive navigation of the wheeled mobile robot in an unknown 2D environment with static obstacles, and a tracking control system. A strategy of reactive navigation is developed including two main behaviours: an obstacle avoiding behaviour and a goal-seeking behaviour, realised in a form of Adaptive Critic Design algorithms. These simple, individual behaviours are combined by the fuzzy combiner of behaviours that determines influence of the individual behaviours on the trajectory generation process, according to the environment conditions. The tracking control system is composed of two Dual-Heuristic Dynamic Programming algorithms, the supervisory term and the PD controller. Verification of the proposed control algorithm was realised using the mobile robot Pioneer 2-DX, equipped with one laser and eight sonar range finders, that provides object detection.
W prezentowanym artykule zaproponowano nowe podejście do generowania bezkolizyjnych trajektorii ruchu mobilnych robotów kołowych z zastosowaniem algorytmów adaptacyjnego krytyka oraz układów z logiką rozmytą. Weryfikacja zaproponowanego algorytmu sterowania została zrealizowana z zastosowaniem mobilnego robota kołowego Pioneer 2-DX, wyposażonego w dalmierz laserowy i osiem sonarów ultradźwiękowych, służących do wykrywania przeszkód.

The paper presents results of identification of rotational stiffness and damping of small-size tyres of a wheeled mobile robot. The investigation was conducted for two types of non-pneumatic tyres. The values of parameters obtained for the robot tyres were compared to the scaled values for a typical passenger car tyre, which led to the conclusion that simple scaling does not yield accurate results in this case. The work is a step forward on the way to devise the tyre model tailored for the needs of a wheeled mobile robot.
