Transportation is an important area of the economy. The transport fills a series of tasks daily functioning of the state. The period of the accession of Central and Eastern Europe countries to the European Union, including Poland is the time of intensive investments financed by structural funds. The countries of the region have gained significant resources to improve the infrastructure and operation of most types of transport modes. This article is a review and ordering information on the functioning and development of major modes of transport. It retains the traditional distinction between road, rail, inland waterways and air transport. Quoted statistics for the period 2005-2015 in order to compare changes in transport infrastructure development.

With the continuous urban expansion of cities around the world, cities have become more crowded as the numbers of all kinds of vehicles have increased, especially due to the inclination of individuals to use personal cars. In this study, we want to identify the different reasons that motivate the populations of the state of Skikda, Algeria, to prefer using cars through a questionnaire. In order to be clearer, we processed and analyzed the survey data using the SPSS analytical program. This article aims to identify the main reasons that motivate individuals to prefer using a personal car when traveling and propose possible solutions, or even identify actions to be taken now and in the future in order to establish a more sustainable exclusive transport. By analyzing the results, it became clear to us that road users prefer cars only for psychological and technical reasons and do not consider the preservation of the environment or the security of people. Although they are aware of the problems arising from their extensive use, they continue to do so because they have no other alternative. Improvements in public transportation means would change the situation.

The purpose of this article is to present the authors' own software for predicting changes in the density and directions of traffic flows and to compare overall results of research on transport accessibility with the results returned in the study of transport accessibility conducted with the software (isochronic accessibility). Developed for research purposes, the authors' application is based on Dijkstra's algorithm, which is classified as one of the greedy ones and does not always return optimum results, even though it is considered to be generally accurate. In the course of the research, it was stated that the implementation of Dijkstra's algorithm in the RoadLoad tool is suitable for studying and prognosing phenomena, under the assumption that there are detailed data on the point of departure and destination for each trip. The tool enables us to research a spatial (cumulated values of network load) as well as time-spatial (network load at virtually any time) dimension of the phenomenon. It cannot be applied, however, without the knowledge of the transport behavior characteristics of the users of the road system.

The aim of the paper is to present the most important results of the research carried out for the case study on the
effects of Rail Baltica investments in the Warsaw Metropolitan Area (WMA) urban node. The research was carried out
as part of the EU project NSB CoRe (North Sea Baltic Connector of Regions). In the article the main conclusions from the
study are presented, describing changes that have supervened in the analyzed area (communes within the boundaries
of the WMA, at a distance of up to 3 km from the E75 railway line and ones crossed by national road 8/S8) in the period
of the E75 line’s modernization. The analysis focuses on changes in settlement structure as well as the functioning of
railway transport, with an assessment of the improvements by its users. Conclusions from the analysis of changes in the
spatio-functional and socio-economical dimensions are described and concern the number of building licenses granted,
changes in population size, changes in the number of registered natural person business entities, changes in the number
of transactions on the real estate market. Moreover, in the area of transport, the paper presents an assessment of the
quality of railway services on the E75 line through passengers’ opinions and the integration of the Baltic railway with
alternative transport modes.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie najważniejszych wyników badań przeprowadzonych na potrzeby Studium
wpływu modernizacji linii kolejowej E75 na rozwój Obszaru Metropolitalnego Warszawy, Przedmiotowe opracowanie
powstało w ramach projektu NSB CoRe (North Sea Baltic Connector of Regions). W artykule zaprezentowano
najważniejsze wnioski z przedmiotowego Studium, opisujące zmiany, które zaszły na obszarze badań (zawartego
w granicach OMW, obejmującego gminy położone w zasięgu 3 km od linii kolejowej E75 oraz gminy, przez które
przebiega droga krajowa nr 8/S8), w okresie trwającej modernizacji linii E75. W tym celu skoncentrowano się na analizie
zmian w przestrzeni osadniczej oraz w zakresie funkcjonowania transportu kolejowego i oceny przez podróżnych
przyjętych usprawnień. Opisano wnioski z analizy zmian w wymiarze funkcjonalno-przestrzennym i społecznogospodarczym
obszaru badań w zakresie: wydanych pozwoleń na budowę, zmiany liczby ludności, zarejestrowanych
podmiotów gospodarczych osób fizycznych, transakcji zawartych na rynku nieruchomości. W artykule przedstawiono
również zmiany, które zaszły w okresie modernizacji w zakresie transportu obejmujące ocenę jakości usług
przewoźników kolejowych realizowanych na linii E75, opinie pasażerów na temat funkcjonowania transportu
kolejowego oraz powiązania kolei bałtyckiej z alternatywnymi środkami transportu.

The aim of this paper is to assess the utilization of selected transportation modes in services facilitating Polish foreign trade between 2010 and 2017. Poland’s foreign trade in commodities is characterized generally herein. The contribution of individual transport modes (i.e. road, rail, inland waterways, sea, or air) to facilitating Polish exports and imports is analyzed in terms of quantity and value. As research material, data from the Customs Administration Analytical Centre are used. Simple statistical and graphic methods (e.g., structural and dynamics indicators) are applied. Polish foreign trade in commodities grew between 2010 and 2017. At the same time, the shares of individual transport modes in facilitating exports and imports shifted, with transport by road remaining the largest contributor. Quantitatively, the share of road transport increased, in both exports and imports; however, a reverse trend was observed for its value.

This paper presents an innovation methodology for quantity assessment the safety of dynamic positioning in locally confined area of technological work performance under nonlinear dynamic disturbances of environmental factors. The methodology is based on new integrated paradigm of prediction coordinated components interactions, which form dynamic positioning system. Proposed methodology implementation effect is based on the analysis of complex models that form the knowledge base. The comprehensive reserve of controllable thruster’s reactions was adopted as quantitative characteristic of dynamic positioning safety.

Nowadays cities are affected by the increasing number of cars. Car traffic leads to considerable problems related with congestion, parking, accidents as well as environmental pollution. Thus a very important issue is change of people’s mobility, behaviours towards more sustainable transport modes: public transport, bikes, walking trips or shared car usage – carpooling and carsharing systems. We can shape the travellers’ attitudes and behaviours using the mobility management concept. Mobility management is an approach to the passenger transport, oriented on promotion of sustainable mobility means and on management of demand for car usage. The paper presents the mobility management concept as well as gives examples of instruments applied in UE, North America, but also in Polish conditions, especially in Krakow.
Współczesne miasta dotknięte są wzrastającą liczbą samochodów osobowych. Ruch zmotoryzowany prowadzi do poważnych problemów związanych z kongestią komunikacyjną, kłopotów z parkowaniem, wypadkami oraz zanieczyszczeniem środowiska. Dlatego niezwykle istotną kwestią jest zmiana zachowań komunikacyjnych ludzi w kierunku korzystania z bardziej zrównoważonych środków lokomocji: środków transportu publicznego, rowerów, podróży pieszych oraz współdzielenia samochodów – podróżowania w systemach carpooling i carsharing. Postawy oraz zachowania podróżnych mogą być kształtowane przy wykorzystaniu koncepcji zarządzania mobilnością. Zarządzanie mobilnością to podejście do przewozów pasażerskich, zorientowane na promowanie proekologicznych środków transportu oraz zarządzanie popytem na użytkowanie samochodów prywatnych. Artykuł prezentuje koncepcję zarządzania mobilnością oraz podaje przykłady instrumentów stosowanych w krajach Unii Europejskiej, Ameryce Północnej, ale i również w warunkach polskich, szczególnie w Krakowie.

Współczesne aglomeracje stoją w obliczu wielu problemów, w tym transportowych, związanych z suburbanizacją i rosnącą mobilnością mieszkańców. Kongestia na drogach i jej skutki to wyzwanie dla organizatorów transportu w obszarach zurbanizowanych dla tworzenia takich rozwiązań, które będą mogły realnie konkurować z intensywnie rozwijającym się transportem indywidualnym. Duże znaczenie w tym zakresie przypisuje się wysoce konkurencyjnym i sprawnym usługom transportu zbiorowego, w szczególności kolei aglomeracyjnej. W artykule przedstawiono opis czynników kształtujących konkurencję połączenia kolejowego w przewozach aglomeracyjnych na przykładzie korytarza transportowego Kraków – Wieliczka. W pierwszej części artykułu dokonano charakterystyki obecnej oferty usług transportowych w poszczególnych podsystemach transportu zbiorowego, uwzględniając w szczególności czas i koszt przejazdu, częstotliwość i regularność kursowania, dostępność czasową. W drugiej części artykułu przedstawiono natomiast hierarchizację czynników wpływających na konkurencyjność usług kolejowych w oparciu o wyniki badań sondażowych przeprowadzonych wśród pasażerów połączenia kolejowego, funkcjonującego w analizowanym korytarzu transportowym oraz ich preferencje w zakresie zmiany środka transportu.
Nowadays, agglomeration areas are facing many problems, including transport issues, related to the suburbanization process and increasing mobility of the agglomeration inhabitants. Growing road congestion and its effects is a challenge for the local transport organizers to create solutions that will be able to compete with the continuously increasing usage of individual transport in travelling. The great role in this regard plays highly competitive and efficient public transport services, particularly suburban railway network. The article describes the factors influencing competition of rail connection within the agglomeration transport system, on example of Krakow – Wieliczka corridor. In the first part of the article the current transport services offer characteristics has been presented, in comparison to the characteristics of trips by car. In the second part of the article, authors presented the hierarchy of the factors affecting the competitiveness of rail service together with passenger modal shift preferences. This analysis has been prepared on the basis of the survey study conducted among passengers of rail connection rail link operating in the analyzed transport corridor.

The problem presented in this article concerns the impact of demand characteristics for consumer goods on the profitability of purchasing strategy, including the choice of both the source of supply and transport technology (deliveries in containers by sea, rail, air, and road transport). To assess the profitability of applying a specific strategy, the author developed a model to conduct simulations using the Monte Carlo approach for two demand distributions (Gaussian and Gamma), various sales fluctuations, and changes in demand during the delivery time. Calculations were carried out considering the costs of transport, storage, capital costs related to maintaining stocks, and costs of lost sales. The simulation results show that the greater the fluctuations and the lower the predictability of the demand, the greater the profitability of deliveries using air transport and local deliveries. However, concrete decisions depend on knowledge of the consequences of making these decisions and whether appropriate cost accounting is used in enterprises. The results of the calculations also indicate that the strategy of outsourcing production in low-cost countries will, in many cases, become unprofitable if production costs in these countries increase even slightly.

The article discusses the problem of choosing individual means of transport by urban residents when planning trips. Types and benefits of using alternative means of individual transport in cities were demonstrated. Then the decision-making process of users as well as motivations and transport needs of the population were presented. The aim of the research article was to analyze the preferences of residents in the field of choices for alternative, environmentally friendly means of transport.
W artykule omówiony został problem wyboru środków transportu indywidualnego przez mieszkańców miast podczas planowania podróży. Wykazano rodzaje i korzyści wykorzystywania alternatywnych środków transportu indywidualnego w miastach. Następnie przedstawiono proces decyzyjny użytkowników oraz motywacji i potrzeb transportowych ludności. Celem badawczym artykułu była analiza preferencji mieszkańców w zakresie wyborów dotyczących alternatywnych, proekologicznych środków transportu.

This article presents the results of the calculation of energy and CO2 emission intensities in relation to the unit of passenger transport activity for various modes of public transport, cars and motorcycles for Warsaw in 2015. The results are compared with similar information from other countries and regions that comes from international comparisons and are summarized in this article. The results for Warsaw show that intensity indicators are comparable to other cities, with noteworthy lowintensity indicators for city public transport buses. An important achievement of the author is calculation of the energy and CO2 emission intensities for various modes of transport in Polish conditions and for a single city: Warsaw.

Transportation is one of the main aspect of logistics development in Poland, even if this is due to the fact that the costs for transportation are from 25% to 40% of total costs in the total cost of logistics. This causes that it is transportation, in addition to procurement processes, production, storage and distribution is the most important process within the logistics supply chain. This article on production and transport being the type used in the Polish logistics, presented as in the period 2009-2011 was as its dynamics and development.
Transport jest jednym z najważniejszych aspektów rozwoju logistyki w Polsce. Jest to spowodowane chociażby faktem, że koszty ponoszone z tytułu transportu stanowią od 25% do 40% ogółu kosztów w całkowitych kosztach logistycznych. To powoduje, że właśnie transport, obok procesów zaopatrzenia, produkcji, magazynowania czy dystrybucji jest najważniejszym procesem w obrębie logistycznego łańcucha dostaw. Niniejszy artykuł po przedstawieniu istoty transportu i jego rodzajów wykorzystywanych w obszarze polskiej logistyki, prezentuje jak w okresie 2009-2011 kształtowała się jego dynamika i rozwój.

Artykuł prezentuje czynniki wyboru modelu świadczenia lokalnego transportu zbiorowego w Polsce w 2017 roku. Jest to pierwsze przekrojowe badanie ilościowe, które zostało przeprowadzone na reprezentatywnej próbie 1089 gmin, spośród których 382 świadczą usługę w jednym z trzech modeli: kontraktowania, współpracy lub korporatyzacji. Większość samorządów nie angażuje w ten proces zasobów własnych, najczęściej gminy występują w roli regulatora rynkowej podaży, kontraktując usługę z prywatnym przedsiębiorcą. Gminy charakteryzują się pragmatycznym podejściem podczas świadczenia usługi – ograniczają angażowanie zasobów własnych oraz włączają się w powiązania funkcjonalne w obszarach metropolitalnych. Bogatsze i gęściej zaludnione miasta inwestujące swoje zasoby korzystają z pozwalającego na zachowanie większej kontroli politycznej modelu korporatyzacji. Przedstawione wyniki badania są użyteczne w procesie podejmowania decyzji o sposobie świadczenia usługi lokalnego transportu – wskazują cechy, jakimi charakteryzują się gminy, które w 2017 roku korzystały z jednego z trzech modeli.
The article presents the factors influencing the choice of local transport delivery modes in Poland. It is the first quantitative study conducted on a representative sample of municipalities since the 1990s, and it concerns three service delivery modes: contracting-out, cooperation, and corporatization. Most local governments do not invest their own resources to deliver local transport, but rather act as a private market supply regulator and contract the service out to private enterprises. Some of them act based on functional connections within metropolitan areas, joining forces with other local governments. More affluent and densely populated cities opt for corporatization, which gives them greater political control over the delivery process. The presented results are useful for decision-makers who have to select the mode of local transport service provision, as they characterize the municipalities which, in 2017, chose one of the three analyzed modes.
