The operation process of the complex industrial system is considered and its operation states are introduced. The semi-markov process is used to construct a general probabilistic model of the considered complex industrial system operation process. To build this model the vector of probabilities of the system operation process initials operation states, the matrix of probabilities of the system operation process transitions between the operation states, the matrix of conditional distribution functions and the matrix of conditional density functions of the system operation process conditional sojourn times in the operation states are defined. To describe the system operation process conditional sojourn times in the particular operation states the uniform distribution, the triangle distribution, the double trapezium distribution, the exponential distribution, the Weibull distribution and the normal distribution are suggested. Under these all assumptions from the constructed general model the main characteristics of the system operation process are find. The mean values of the system operation process conditional sojourn times in particular operation states having these distributions are calculated. Moreover, the unconditional distribution functions of the system operation process unconditional sojourn times in the particular operation states, the mean values of the system operation process unconditional sojourn times in the particular operation states, the limit values of the transient probabilities of the system operation process at the particular operation states and the mean values of the system operation process total sojourn times in the particular operation states are determined.

The reliability analysis of a multistate complex system subjected to varying in time its operation process is performed. A semi-Markov process is applied to construct the multistate model of the system operation process and its main characteristics are determined. Analytical linking of the system operation process model with the system multistate reliability model is proposed to get a general reliability model of the complex system operating at varying in time operation conditions and to find its reliability characteristics. The constructed integrated general model of a complex multistate system reliability, linking its reliability model and its operation process model and considering variable at different operation states its reliability structure and its components reliability parameters is applied to the reliability evaluation of an exemplary system.

In the paper the environment and infrastructure influence of the ground ship-rope transporter operating in Naval Shipyard in Gdynia on its operation processes is considered. The results are presented on the basis of a general model of technical systems operation processes related to their environment and infrastructure. The transporter operation process is described and its statistical identification is given. Next, the reliability, risk and availability evaluation of the transporter in variable operation conditions is presented. In addition, the reliability and availability basic characteristics of the system assuming its components’ failure dependence are determined. Finally, the obtained results for the ground ship-rope transporter under the assumption that its components are dependent and independent are compared.

The joint model of the system operation process and the system multi-state reliability is applied to the reliability and risk evaluation of the container gantry crane. The container gantry crane is described and its operation process unknown parameters are identified on the basis of real statistical data. In the paper, definitions and theoretical results on system operations process, multi-state system reliability, risk and availability modelling are illustrated by the example of their application to a bulk cargo transportation system operating in Gdynia Port Bulk Cargo Terminal. The bulk cargo transportation system is considered in varying in time operation conditions. The system reliability structure and its components reliability functions are changing in variable operation conditions. The system reliability structures are fixed with a high accuracy. Whereas, the input reliability characteristics of the bulk cargo transportation system components and the system operation process characteristics are not sufficiently exact because of the lack of statistical data. Anyway, the obtained evaluation may be a very useful example in simple and quick systems reliability characteristics evaluation, especially during the design and improving the transportation systems operating in ports.

There is presented the application of the integrated software tools to the operation and reliability models of an exemplary complex technical system unknown parameters identification. There are performed in the paper, the exemplary system operation and reliability analysis and modelling. The identification of the probabilities of transitions this system operation process between the operation states and the conditional mean values of this process sojourn times at the particular operation states because of the lack of statistical data is performed throw the arbitrary fixing their values assumption. Next using the computer program CP 8.3 the automatic evaluation of the system components unknown intensities of departures the reliability state subsets and the identification of the exponential forms of their multistate reliability functions on the arbitrarily fixed statistical data coming from the system components states changing processes are performed as well.

This work presents a practical and effective method to evaluate the reliability status of an object basing on the observation ofchanges in its functioning (automatics) and its technical condition (diagnostics). It has been observed that changes of the functioning condition potential could serve to determine the symptoms of transient (momentary) damages and the changes in the potential of the technical condition to determine the symptoms of parametric damages (non-total). Such an information, as it turns out, is sufficient to calculate reliability characteristics before dangerous catastrophic damages occur and to calculate reliability characteristics for every single object without having to deal with a numerous set of objects. The paper presents analytical and Monte Carlo simulation methods applied to the reliability evaluation of a system operating in two different operation states. A semi-Markov process is applied to construct the system operation model and its main characteristics are determined. There are presented general safety analytical models of complex multistate technical systems related to their operation processes. They are the integrated general models of complex technical systems, linking their multistate safety models and their operation processes models and considering variable at the different operation states safety structures and their components safety parameters. The conditional safety functions at the system particular operation states and independent of the system particular operation states the unconditional safety function and the risk function of the complex technical systems are defined. These joint models of the safety and the variable in time system operation processes are constructed for multistate series, parallel, “m out of n”, consecutive “m out of n: F”, series-parallel, parallel-series, series-“m out of k”, “mi out of li”-series, series-consecutive “m out of k: F” and consecutive “mi out of li: F”-series systems. The joint models are applied to determining safety characteristics of these systems related to their varying in time safety structures and their components safety characteristics. Under the assumption that the considered systems are exponential, the unconditional safety functions of these systems are determined. The proposed models and methods are applied to the safety analysis, evaluation and prediction of the one subsystem of the port grain transportation system related to varying in time their operation processes, structures and components safety parameters.

There is presented the application of the integrated software tools to the operation and reliability of an exemplary complex technical system prediction. The computer program CP 8.5 is used to determine the unconditional mean sojourn times and the limit transient probabilities of the exemplary system operation process at the particular operation states evaluations. Using the computer program CP 8.6 there are performed the evaluations of the exemplary system unconditional multistate reliability function, the expected values and the standard deviations of its unconditional lifetimes in the reliability state subsets and the mean values of its lifetimes in the particular reliability states. Finally, in the case when the system is repairable, its renewal and availability characteristics are estimated from the results of computer program CP 8.8.

Opis:
Selection and determination of assessment criteria is of great importance for evaluation of the system operation quality. The analysis was made within the research on operation quality of a selected transportation system. This was a real system, operating purposefully, providing passengers with transport tasks, over an assigned urban area and suburbs, according to an established schedule. Such a system of operation is affected by the behaviour of people, functioning of transport means and the environmental impact. On the basis of performed tests, a set of criteria, whose fulfilment degree is crucial for functioning of the analyzed system, has been determined. It must be remembered, though those particular criteria are diversified in terms of their significance for the transportation system assessment. Therefore, the analytic hierarchy process AHP has been applied in this work, in order to establish significance of particular criteria, from the point of view of the set quality requirements for the studied transportation system. The analytic hierarchy process has been used in the papers concerning the problems of quality control and assessment of transportation systems. It is one of several tools supporting the process of selection of the most significant criteria aiming at reduction of the considered vector dimensionality and establishing a set of features, accepted for an assessment of the research object operation quality, while building the resultant model.

Finding the most critical contingencies in a power system is a difficult task as multiple evaluations of load and generation scenarios are needed. This paper presents a mathematical formulation for selecting, ranking, and grouping the most critical N-1 net- work contingencies, based on the calculation of a Power Constraint Index (PCI) obtained from the Outage Transfer Distribution Factors (OTDF). The results show that the PCI is only affected by the impedance parameter of the transmission network, the topology, and the location of all generators. Other methods, such as the Performance Index (PI) and the Overload Index (OL) are affected by the power generation and demand variations. The proposed mathematical formulation can be useful to accelerate the calculation of other methods that evaluate contingencies in power system planning and operation. Furthermore, the fast calculation of indices makes it suitable for online evaluation and classification of multiple events considering the current topology. The results showed that the proposed algorithm easily selected and ranked the expected contingencies, with the highest values of the index corresponding to the most critical events. In the filtering process, the computational calculation time improved without losing the robustness of the results.

The paper objectives are to present the methods and tools useful in the statistical identifying unknown parameters of the operation models of complex technical systems and to apply them in the maritime industry. There are presented statistical methods of determining unknown parameters of the semi-markov model of the complex technical system operation processes. There is also presented the chi-square goodness-of-fit test applied to verifying the distributions of the system operation process conditional sojourn times in the particular operation states. Applications of these tools to identifying and predicting the operation characteristics of a ferry operating at the Baltic Sea waters are presented as well.

This paper deals with the problems connected with evaluation of a technical system and its being later used for decision making in order to provide complex technical systems with appropriate operation quality. The research object is a real municipal transportation system. The assessment quality of the systems operation is based on the changes of the systems features values. The features describe the operation of the systems operators, controlled technical objects and the environment influence. The assessment and the support the demand quality of the systems operation from the safety, efficiency, economic and reliability point of view is the basic factor of the executed exploitation process. The notion of a system operation quality has been defined, a scheme of an assessment model has been presented and a random process, providing the basis for evaluation of a technical system, has been developed. On the basis of carried out experimental tests there have been distinguished four states of a system operation quality reflecting intervals of values of grades that were characteristic for given time moments. A model of system operation qualitative state changes, based on Markov chain, has been considered in this paper. A system of equations has been determined for a distinguished Markov chain on the basis of which a mathematical model for assessment and control of selected types of transportation systems will be developed.

Using the computer program CP 8.12 there is obtained the evaluation of the cost before and after the exemplary system operation process optimization and next the computer program CP 8.13 is applied for operation cost analysis of the improved exemplary system. The methods of corrective and preventive maintenance policy maximizing availability and minimizing renovation cost of the complex technical systems in variable operation conditions are illustrated for the analyzed exemplary system using equivalently the computer program CP 8.14 for maintenance policy maximizing system availability and CP 8.15 for minimizing system renovation cost.

Na podstawie badań zrealizowanych w Firmie Handlowo Usługowej Zapałów przedstawiono funkcjonowanie obsługi technicznej ciągników marki Massey Ferguson i Fendt. Omówiono strukturę sieci dystrybucyjno-serwisowej w województwie podkarpackim w aspekcie obsługi technicznej ciągników rolniczych. Zaprezentowano analizę poziomu usług technicznych, wykonanych w FHU Zapałów w latach 2010–2013, podczas których prowadzono badania rynkowe. Badaniami dokumentacji warsztatowej objęto grupę 513 zleceń usług serwisowych, które były realizowane na terenie firmy, w gospodarstwach rolników oraz w warunkach polowych. Wyniki uzyskane z analizy danych wskazują na potrzebę optymalizacji działań w zakresie zarządzania obsługą serwisową. Głównym problemem dla firmy handlowo-usługowej jest okresowość popytu na części zamienne i obsługę techniczną, wynikająca z sezonowości prac agrotechnicznych.
Based on research carried out in the Company of Commerce and Service Zapałów, the functioning of the Massey Ferguson and Fendt’s tractors support service is shown in the article. The structure of distribution and service network in Podkarpackie province is discussed in the aspect of servicing tractors. The analysis of the level of servicing in the Company of Commerce and Service Zapałów for the years 2010–2013 during which market research was carried out is presented further. Research of workshop documentation covered a group of 513 commissions of servicing, which the company had executed both on farms and in fields. The results obtained from the data analysis show the need to optimise measures taken in servicing. The main problem for the commerce and service company is periodicity of demand for spare parts and the support service coming from the seasonality of the agricultural production.

Current power grid and market development, characterized by large growth of distributed energy sources in recent years, especially in Europa, are according energy storage systems an increasingly larger field of implementation. Existing storage technologies, e.g. pumped-storage power plants, have to be upgraded and extended by new but not yet commercially viable technologies (e.g. batteries or adiabatic compressed air energy storage) that meet expected demands. Optimal sizing of storage systems and technically and economically optimal operating strategies are the major challenges to the integration of such systems in the future smart grid. This paper surveys firstly the literature on the latest niche applications. Then, potential new use case and operating scenarios for energy storage systems in smart grids, which have been field tested, are presented and discussed and subsequently assessed technically and economically.

The article presents a project of an autonomous transport system that can be deployed in coastal waters, bays or between islands. Presented solutions and development trends in the transport of autonomous and unmanned units (ghost ships) are presented. The structure of the control system of autonomous units is discussed together with the presentation of applied solutions in the field of artificial intelligence. The paper presents the concept of a transport system consisting of autonomous electric powered vessels designed to carry passengers, bikes, mopeds, motorcycles or passenger cars. The transport task is to be implemented in an optimal way, that is, most economically and at the same time as safe as possible. For this reason, the structure of the electric propulsion system that can be found on such units is shown. The results of simulation studies of autonomous system operation using simulator of marine navigational environment are presented.

This paper presents a comparative study of Robot Operating System (ROS) packages for mobile robot navigation on an embedded system. ROS provides various libraries and tools in developing complex robot software. We discuss the process of porting ROS to an open embedded platform, which serves as the main controller for a mobile robot. In the case of driving the robot, ROS provides local path planners such as the base, elastic band, and timed elastic band. The local planners are compared and analyzed in terms of accuracy in tracking the global path conducted on a robot model using Gazebo, 3D simulation tool provided by ROS. We also discussed the difference in performance of deploying ROS packages on a personal computer and on the embedded environment. Experiments were performed by controlling two different mobile robots with results showing that tracking error is highly dependent on the goal tolerance. This study will serve as a promising metric in improving the performance of mobile robots using ROS navigation packages.

W artykule przedstawiono rozwiązania konstrukcyjne układów chłodzenia oraz poddano identyfikacji i przeanalizowano wybrane przykłady występowania niezdatności układu chłodzenia w silnikach spalinowych nowoczesnych ciągników rolniczych po różnych przebiegach. Przedstawiono metody diagnozowania i rozwiązywania problemów związanych z niesprawnością podzespołów układu chłodzenia. Analizę wykonano na podstawie znanych i spotykanych rodzajów usterek tych układów. Zaprezentowano wyniki badań niezdatności układów chłodzenia na przykładzie 25 ciągników skierowanych do napraw serwisowych.
The article presents the design solutions of cooling systems and there has been identified and analyzed selected examples of the occurrence of the inability of cooling system in the combustion engines of modern agricultural tractors after various mileage. The methods of diagnosing and solving problems related to the failure of cooling system components are presented. The analysis was based on known and common faults of these systems. The results of the tests of the cooling systems were presented on the example of 25 tractors referred to the service repairs.

Zastosowanie asymptotycznego podejścia do oceny niezawodności i gotowości wielostanowego systemu równoległo-szeregowego w zmiennych warunkach eksploatacyjnych zostało zaprezentowane na przykładzie stoczniowego systemu transportu linowego.
The paper presents the results on systems' reliability related to their operation processes and the results on limit reliability functions of parallel-series systems. The results of the asymptotic approach to the evaluation of multi-state parallel-series system reliability and availability are presented. Finally, their application to the ship-rope transportation system evaluation is given.

Celem pracy była ocena możliwości diagnozowania układu smarowania silników spalinowych ciągników rolniczych za pomocą systemu diagnostyki pokładowej. Oceny dokonano na podstawie wystąpienia usterek układu smarowania w ciągu jednego roku serwisowania ciągników po różnych przebiegach na podstawie znanych i spotykanych rodzajów usterek tych układów. Przedstawiono metody diagnozowania i rozwiązywania problemów związanych z niesprawnością podzespołów układu smarowania w aspekcie zaistniałych konsekwencji - zatarć. Zaprezentowano wyniki badań niezdatności układów smarowania z podziałem na usterki elektryczne i elektroniczne, mechaniczne i inne. W artykule omówiono problem w diagnozowaniu układu smarowania za pomocą systemu diagnostyki pokładowej.
The purpose of the work is to assess the possibility of diagnosing the lubrication system of tractor engines using the on-board diagnostic system. The assessment was based on the occurrence of lubrication system faults during one year of servicing after various runs. The analysis was performed on the basis of known and common types of faults of these systems. Methods of diagnosing and solving problems related to the failure of components of the lubrication system in the aspect of the consequences - seizures. The results of tests of inability of lubrication systems with division into electrical and electronic, mechanical and other defects are presented. The article discusses the problem of diagnosing the lubrication system using the on-board diagnostic system.

W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie kształtowania jakości eksploatacyjnej wózków widłowych czołowych powszechnie stosowanych do transportu materiałów i wyrobów gotowych w zakładach przemysłowych, hipermarketach, składach budowlanych itp. Omawiane urządzenia eksploatowane są w różnych warunkach zewnętrznych, przy oddziaływaniu czynników atmosferycznych i stanie dróg, wpływających negatywnie zwłaszcza na układy kierowniczy i zawieszenia. Jest to powodem zwiększonej awaryjności i przestojów związanych z naprawami, co pociąga za sobą znaczne straty ekonomiczne. Jako podstawową miarę jakości eksploatacyjnej przyjęto wskaźnik gotowości operacyjnej. Zaproponowany sposób wyznaczania wskaźnika gotowości w oparciu o sprawnie funkcjonujący system informacyjny umożliwia weryfikację i usprawnienie procesu obsługiwania wózków widłowych.
The paper presents the problem of modelling process of fork-lift trucks operation systems. Fork-lift trucks are commonly used to transport materials and finished products in industrial plants, hipermarkets and building store houses. The operation processes take place in different surface states of local roads and atmospheric conditions. These factors are frequently the reasons of damages of steering and suspension systems. Standstills for damages repair contributed economic losses. In this situation availability should be the main index of quality operation system. Effective information system used to determine the values of availability index let to verify and modernize the operating systems of fork-lift trucks.

The paper describes railway vehicle operation (OS) and maintenance management (MS) systems. Principles of railway vehicle operation, operation planning, and vehicle features as a subject of the operational use, as well as the impact of the environment on vehicles are discussed. Factors stimulating the maintenance of vehicles are characterized as well as attention is drawn to the potential and the impact of these factors on decision making process regarding vehicle maintenance.

W artykule zaproponowano wykorzystanie metody symulacji stochastycznej do oceny niezawodności systemów stacjonarnych w szerszym sensie. Przyjęto, że modelami ewolucji czasowej stanów niezawodnościowych systemu są zmienne losowe o dodatnio skoncentrowanych wartościach. Przedstawiono metodologię modelowania niezawodnościowego i metodologię modelowania symulacyjnego. Przytoczono przykład wykorzystania metody symulacyjnej do oceny niezawodności systemu rozproszonego.
In the paper the use of stochastic simulation method for evaluation of the reliability of weak stationary systems have been proposed. It is assumed that models of the time evolution of the system reliability states are random variables with positively concentrated values. Methodology for reliability modeling and methodology for simulation modeling have been presented. An example of using the simulation method for the distributed system reliability evaluation has been quoted.

Opis:
Wirusy komputerowe mają obecnie wpływ na działanie wielu systemów, tak samo jak wirusy biologiczne na organizm człowieka. Można znaleźć podobieństwa w działaniu virusów komputerowych do biologicznym w wielu aspektach ich działania. Rozwój systemów operacyjnych, funkcji jakie dostarczają, spowodował również ewolucję virusów. Zarażają obecnie różne elementy systemu i są przenoszone za pomocą innych mechanizmów. Zastosowane mechanizmy w systemach operacyjnych jak i rozwój języków programowania spowodował, że pisanie virusów, czy uciążliwych programów stało się prostsze, a stosowanie mechanizmów zabezpieczeń w systemie jest obecnie konieczne. W niniejszym artykule autorzy na bazie dwóch przykładowych kodów virusów przedstawiają ich ewolucję oraz analizują wpływ ewolucji systemów operacyjnych na ich sposoby infekcji.
Computer viruses are currently affecting the operation of multiple systems, as well as biological viruses on the human body. There are many similarities in the operation of a biological and computer viruses in many aspects of their operation. The development of operating systems, functions that they provide, has also led to the evolution of computer viruses. They infect currently various elements of the system and are moved by other mechanisms. Mechanisms used in operating systems and the development of programming languages meant that writing computer viruses or trojans programs has become easier, and the use of security mechanisms in the system is now necessary. In this article the authors on the basis of two examples of viruses source codes show their evolution and analyze the impact of the evolution of operating systems on their modes of infection.

This paper describes the way of modernization of the direct operation fuel feeding system of diesel engine. Effective, ecological and economical characteristics of a modern diesel engine are greatly de-termined by parameters of using fuel-feeding system. Thus, in modern conditions, fuel-feeding systems have to fulfil specified requirements, which are mainly connected with fuel supply process intensification, possibility of adaptable regulation of fuel injection lead angle, cycle fuel delivering and injection characteristic at full range of engine operation regimes. At present time accumulator fuel feeding systems Common Rail type, fulfil these requirements best of all. However, despite its advantages, those kinds of systems have number of disadvantages. The main ones are high price and structural complexity of the system elements. Because of this Common Rail does not have wide using in the diesel engines with number of cylinders less than three. Although that type of diesels exactly is universal mechanical energy, source and can be used in many types of machinery, including ones with strict ecological norms. However, up to now these engines are equipped with the direct operation fuel feeding system that despite its high reliability and low price is worse than accumulator systems in the injection pressure level and possibilities of fuel feeding process control. Thus, main objective of a modernization of the direct operation fuel feeding system is topical. Speed forcing of high-pressure fuel pump was used. Maximal injection pressure is successfully increased 1.42 times. It provides intensification of fuel injection process. Implementation of the electronic control allows counting this method of fuel feeding system modernization promising for small diesel engines.

The aim of the paper is to present the concept of the integrated system dedicated for communication and remote operation of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). In the paper the concept and realization of this kind of wireless communications system is presented. The system consists of two integrated solutions – unidirectional broadcast transmission of video, audio and data from UAV to the operators within the mobile command centre and two‐way communication with the telemetry and control subsystem. The systems are integrated within the single chassis and placed on the UAV to ensure proper operation of the flying robot. The specific elements of the system are presented as well as main requirements and connected with them development methods are also discussed in the paper.

The study deals with operation quality assessment of operating complex systems especially transport ones. It has been established that assessment of their operation quality depends on fulfilment level of specified criteria. Thus, determination of a set of criteria in terms of their quantity and significance is of great importance. Since the considerations refer to socio-technical systems of the type: human machine and environment , and especially municipal transport systems, these criteria account for human actions, machine operation (transport means) and the impact of factors coming from the environment. The basis of their operation quality is provided by a set of significant, variable in time, measurable and independent features whose values, in a given time period, determine the fulfilment degree of the specified criteria. .On the basis of fulfilment degree of the distinguished criteria, an assessment of operation quality and classification of the considered transport systems are made. In this study, one way of choosing the criteria has been proposed. This method is based on square matrixes and questionnaire survey, which are usedfor establishing their influence on the transport system operation quality, for selected transport means, used in urban complexes.

There is presented a practically well grounded approach concerned with the identification, evaluation, prediction and optimization of reliability, availability and safety of technical systems related to their operation processes. The main emphasis of this approach is on multi-state systems composed of ageing components and changing during the operation processes their structures and their components reliability and safety characteristics. There are proposed the convenient tools for analyzing these systems in the form of semi-markov modeling the systems’ operation processes and multistate modeling the systems’ reliability. There are described theoretical results of the proposed approach to reliability and safety analysis of multistate systems with degrading components in their operation processes and the possibility of their practical applications to the reliability and safety analysis and optimization of the complex technical port and maritime transportation systems.

In the article, the DGT-IP R telecommunication system was presented, and then its analysis in terms of the reliability and operation was performed. A particular emphasis was put on the issues related to restoring the state of complete usability. Adopting three states (complete usability R0, impendency over safety QZB and unreliability of safety QB) and certain transitions between them, the relationships allowing for determination of probabilities of the system staying in the above mentioned states.
W artykule zaprezentowano scharakteryzowano system telekomunikacyjny DGT-IP R, zaś następnie dokonano jego analizy w aspekcie niezawodnościowo-eksploatacyjnym. Zwrócono przy tym szczególną uwagę na kwestie związane z przywróceniem stanu pełnej zdatności. Przyjmując trzy stany (pełnej zdatności R0, zagrożenia bezpieczeństwa QZB i zawodności bezpieczeństwa QB) oraz określone przejścia pomiędzy nimi, wyznaczono zależności pozwalające na wyznaczenie prawdopodobieństw przebywania systemu w wymienionych stanach.

The paper addresses the issue of offering hands‐on engineering labs via the web. The hands‐on feature refers to the functionality of the lab, which is preserved whether the lab experiments are done over the web or with student’s physical presence in the lab. After an extensive review of remote labs, examples of lab stations are described from the area of software engineering, where software development is done remotely and then software modules are uploaded and tested on the lab stations. This type of lab can be called invasive, since the essential element of an experiment is the replacement or modification of the software module controlling the remote equipment. This is in contrast to regular remote labs, which are non‐invasive. Two lab stations are presented in more detail, one for a wireless sensor network and another for a remotely accessible microcontroller. Several observations are made regarding the usefulness of this technology and prospects of adoption in software engineering programs.

The paper contains an analysis of the operational process of heat supply system with taking into consideration its reliability. The specific character of the operation of heat-supply systems has been considered in this work. In the process of the exploitation of heat-supply systems there have been distinguished five operational states, assuming as a criterion of the level of indoor temperature decrease in residential rooms. The method of modelling the operational reliability of heat-supply systems is worked out. The methodology of determining the overall index of heat-supply system reliability has been presented. The measure of heat-supply system reliability has been assumed as the scale/quantity of inadequate supply of heat power at a given state. Calculations have been carried out regarding the changeability of exterior conditions for one of the groups of customers – residential users. On the basis of the operational data for the heat supply system with two heat sources shortage quantities of heat power and the probability of their occurrence have been calculated as an application of this methodology.

This paper deals with selected problems connected with transport means operation quality. Basic concepts concerning the problems of quality have been defined, and general characteristics of the elaborated methodology have been made. Description of rules on the basis of which the method was elaborated, has been presented. An algorithm of mathematical model determination has been created and a model for quality assessment of the system operation has been built. This model is supposed to serve as a general abstract form for operation quality assessment of a wide class of real transport systems different in terms of their features, structure and operation. The further part of the paper deals with possibilities of quality control in order to provide the desired level of the transport system operation quality which will be an effect of the carried out research, especially, the results, obtained on the basis of the proposed assessment method. The presented methodology can be found to be a universal tool for diagnostic, prognostic processes, and above all, for optimization and rational control ofcomplex systems of technical object using, especially transport ones through assessment of their states, determined on the basis of changes of significant features characteristic for the system.

In this paper there has been developed a method for the transport system operation quality assessment. The concept of the transport system quality has been defined. There has also been described the proposed evaluation method and the process of an assessment model construction. Basic features of the metrical space have been characterized and a proposition o f a system operation quality evaluation metrics has been presented. Also, studies concerning the choice of assessment criteria and distinction of the most signiflcant set of features accepted for the resultant model of the examined transport system operation quality, have been presented. It should be emphasized that using the presented method it is possible to make an assessment of the same system, in different times, with the assumption that the rating is performed on the basis of homogenous criteria, and with the use of a set of the same features, distinguished for the deser iption of the research object.

Cel: Celem artykułu było porównanie aktualnie istniejących metod eksploatacji stałych urządzeń gaśniczych wodnych wbudowanych w wielkopowierzchniowe obiekty budowlane oraz wyszukanie między nimi różnic mogących wpływać na niezawodność działania tych urządzeń. Metody: W artykule dokonano analizy porównawczej istniejących metod eksploatacji stałych urządzeń gaśniczych wodnych według różnych wytycznych. Przedstawione tabelarycznie zakresy i terminy okresowych kontroli stanu technicznego wybranych elementów instalacji tryskaczowych pozwoliły wykazać różnice w przedstawionych metodach oraz ujawniły nieznaczne nieprawidłowości w prowadzeniu procesu eksploatacyjnego. Przeprowadzona w ten sposób analiza wskazała potrzebę opracowania nowych wytycznych, lepiej wpisujących się w polskie warunki eksploatacyjne stałych urządzeń gaśniczych wodnych. Stanowi ona podstawę do opracowania koncepcji metody eksploatacji tych urządzeń z uwzględnieniem m.in. wpływu jakości wody zasilającej te urządzenia. Wyniki: Na podstawie zaprezentowanych tabelarycznych zestawień można łatwo zauważyć różnorodność stosowanych metod eksploatacji. Porównanie niektórych sposobów kontrolowania wybranych elementów systemu zabezpieczenia przeciwpożarowego, jakim jest instalacja tryskaczowa, pozwala dostrzec zarówno podobieństwa pomiędzy zaprezentowanymi wytycznymi, jaki i wiele różnic. Kontrola wielu elementów instalacji tryskaczowej wg wytycznych zawartych w polskiej normie i wytycznych VdS 2212 realizowana jest w jednakowym zakresie i z taką samą częstotliwością. Jednakże wytyczne VdS są znacznie bardziej szczegółowe i szerszym zakresem obejmują większą liczbę kontrolowanych elementów, niekiedy w krótszym czasie. Całkiem odmienna sytuacja ma miejsce w przypadku wytycznych przedstawionych w NFPA 25 z roku 2014. Jest to jedyna metoda, która zakłada sprawdzenie stanu technicznego przewodów stałego urządzenia gaśniczego wodnego co pięć lat, łącznie ze sprawdzeniem ich przepustowości. Ponadto wytyczne NFPA 25 uwzględniają znacznie dłuższy czas eksploatacji tego rodzaju zabezpieczenia. Wnioski: Zaprezentowane metody eksploatacji stałych wodnych urządzeń gaśniczych mogą nie zapewnić utrzymania właściwego stanu technicznego przewodów instalacji tryskaczowej. Mimo że w wielu aspektach wskazują szczegółowy zakres kontroli elementów, jak najbardziej istotnych z punktu widzenia niezawodności działania, to niestety pomijają wpływ jakości wody zasilającej na przewody i armaturę stałych urządzeń gaśniczych wodnych. W związku z tym niezbędne jest opracowanie nowej metody eksploatacji tego rodzaju urządzeń przeciwpożarowych, która będzie możliwie prosta, a jednocześnie będzie uwzględniała zmienną jakość wody zasilającej urządzenia tryskaczowe i jej wpływ na stan techniczny przewodów.
Aim: The aim of the article was to compare the currently existing methods of using fixed water firefighting equipment installed in large-format commercial buildings. Moreover, the aim was to find specific differences in existing methods that may affect the reliability of this equipment. Methods: In the article a comparative analysis was carried out of the methods of using fixed water firefighting equipment according to different guidelines. The tabulated ranges and timing of periodic technical inspections of selected elements of a sprinkler system allowed to compare the differences in the present methods and revealed subtle irregularities in the operation process. This analysis also points to the fact that it is necessary to develop new guidelines, which would more efficiently reflect Polish operating conditions of ffixed water firefighting equipment. In other words, the presented analysis is the basis for developing a concept of the operation method of operation this equipment, taking into account the impact of water quality supply in these devices. Results: Based on the presented tabular summaries it is easy to see the diversity in the applied operation methods. While comparing the ways to control elements of the fire protection sprinkler system, it is possible to observe certain similarities between the presented guidelines, but also many differences. Many elements of the sprinkler system, according to the guidelines contained in the Polish Standard and VdS 2212, has a common term and scope of control. However, presented VdS guidelines are much more detailed and include a wider range of more controllable elements, sometimes in a shorter period of time. Quite a different situation can be observed in the case of guidelines outlined in NFPA 25, 2014. It is the only method that involves checking the technical condition of the inner conductors every five years, including a check of cable capacity of the fixed water firefighting equipment. In addition, NFPA 25 guidelines include a much longer operation period for this type of protection. Conclusions: The presented operation methods of fixed water firefighting equipment might not provide proper maintenance of the technical state of a sprinkler system. Although in many respects the presented methods show a detailed scope of control of the elements, the most important from the point of view of operational reliability, unfortunately ignore the influence of the quality of water supply pipes and fittings for fixed water firefighting equipment. Therefore, it becomes necessary to develop a new method of operation of this type of fire protection equipment, where the operation will be as easy as possible, and at the same time it will take into account the variable quality of water supply for the sprinkler system and its impact on the technical condition of the pipes and fittings.

The following paper presents issues concerning a power supply for the alarm systems used in transport facilities. It describes the guidelines included in the polish standard PN-EN 50131-1:2009 „Systemy alarmowe – Systemy sygnalizacji włamania i napadu – Wymagania systemowe” (Alarm systems – intrusion and hold-up systems – system requirements), a power supply in particular. Then the operational-reliability assessment of a system consisting of a main power supply (230V AC power grid), redundant UPS and diesel generator was made. The aim of that was to obtain formulas for particular state probability values in a symbolic form (Laplace’s). The further assessments taking other types of power supply into account will be presented in the forthcoming papers.

A multi-state approach to defining basic notions of the system safety analysis is proposed. A system safety function and a system risk function are defined. A basic safety structure of a multi-state series system of components with degrading safety states is defined. For this system the multi-state safety function is determined. The proposed approach is applied to the evaluation of a safety function, a risk function and other safety characteristics of a ship system composed of a number of subsystems having an essential influence on the ship safety. Further, a semi-Markov process for the considered system operation modelling is applied. The paper also offers a general approach to the solution of a practically important problem of linking the multi-state system safety model and its operation process model. Finally, the proposed general approach is applied to the preliminary evaluation of a safety function, a risk function and other safety characteristics of a ship system with varying in time its structure and safety characteristics of the subsystems it is composed of.

Opis:
The following article describes energetic states symptoms, included in correct and incorrect performance of crankpiston combustion engines systems. Special attention has been paid to accompanying processes of such performance, with regard to, heat generation effect in combustion chamber and friction in joined frictional movements. Combustion chamber is a moving space formed by connection of the piston through piston rings with the cylinder liner and the engine head. Heat generation process takes place above the piston, generated by burning of fuel. It causes an increase of gas pressure in the combustion space, which results in the movement of the piston tightened by the rings, followed by an increase of the space volume. In this way energy is emitted from fuel burning, influencing the elements of piston-conrod system in the form of heat and work. The ability of such thermodynamical system to convert energy into an effective one is limited. Internal energy of exhaust gases can be divided into the part which cannot be converted into work. The process of heat generation in engine cylinder is of irreversible character which results in the loss of energy. In piston combustion engines, work is performed by heat generated in cylinders. Energetic performance in piston-crank system results from internal exchange of exhaust gases in combustion chamber with the engine surroundings. Analysis of such energetic performances allows us to isolate symptoms of correct operation of piston con-rod combustion engine systems. Such symptoms include: exhaust gases temperature, temperature of piston surface, momentary values of torque and the speed of pressure increase during combustion. Piston-con-rod system is a component part of the engine. Evaluation of its performance allows to identify the present technical condition of the engine. Diagnostic advantages of some, above mentioned symptoms of piston-con-rod combustion engine operation, have been verified by means of adequate laboratory testing and during engine operation on the ship.

The combination of the results on the reliability of complex multi-state systems related to their operation processes and the results concerning the limit reliability functions of the multistate systems is proposed, to obtain the results on the asymptotic approach to the evaluation of the large complex multi-state systems reliability at the variable operation conditions. The asymptotic approach to the large complex system reliability evaluation and the large complex system limit reliability function are defined. Limit reliability functions of selected large complex systems composed of components having Weibull reliability functions are fixed. The way of using this results is illustrated by their application to the evaluation of reliability characteristics of the large complex port grain transportation subsystem composed of three large multistate non-homogeneous series systems and changing its reliability structure and its components reliability parameters at variable operation conditions.

A convenient new tool for solving the problem of reliability and availability evaluation and optimization of complex technical systems is presented. Linking a semi-markov modeling of the system operation processes with a multi-state approach to system reliability and availability analysis is proposed to construct the joint general model of reliability and availability of complex technical systems in variable operation conditions. In this work, a method for assessment and control of availability of executive subsystem consisting of elementary subsystems of the type has been presented. The goal of the executive subsystem is to perform the assigned transport tasks over set routes, with a given frequency, according to a set schedule. A proper accomplishment of the transport task is possible only if the required number of technical objects (transport means) is prepared to perform the assigned task in a given time. Among many significant criteria used for assessment of a transport system operation there is one of special importance that is availability of the executive subsystem to perform the assigned tasks. Availability of the executive system to perform the assigned tasks depends on availability of particular technical objects (transport means) used in the system of transportation and their number. On the basis of the above statement, it can be said that control of the executive subsystem availability can be carried out both by selecting technical objects with the required availability and matching the required number of the objects which are to be used in the system in order to ensure proper accomplishment of the transport tasks. In this work there has been discussed a method for determination of the required availability of a single object as well as the required number of technical objects indispensable to perform appropriately the assigned transport task, on the basis of the transportation system availability assessment. Availability of the transportation system is determined on the basis of a mathematical model of the operation and maintenance process of technical objects, in the studied transportation system. Exemplary results have been presented on the basis of experimental data, obtained from the tests carried out in a real operation and maintenance system of transport means.

In the article, a method for assessment of risks connected with a technical object functioning has been studied, in a selected operating system. An urban system of bus transportation, in a selected urban complex, has been chosen as the research object. Functioning of each technical object operating system, including transportation systems, is dependent on its possibility to perform properly the assigned transport task. One of the methods for assessment of the transportation system ability to accomplish the assigned transport task in a proper way is determination of the transport means operation risk. The presented approach involves determination of indexes defining the risks connected with functioning of one technical object (transport means) in an executive subsystem. Indexes of the risk connected with functioning of a single technical object have been determined on the basis of a mathematical model of the operation process, in the studied transportation system. On the basis of the identification of the authentic transport system and the means of transport operation process carried out in it, crucial operational states were designed as well as the possibilities of transferring between the particular states. Based on that, an event-centered model of the use of the means of transport was built, followed by a mathematical model of that process. A Mathematical model of the operation process has been developed with acceptance of an assumption that the process model is to be represented by a homogeneous Markov model X(t). In this paper, the transport means operation risk is determined as a product of probability (or sum of probabilities) of its being in an undesirable state (states) of the Markov model of transport means operation process and the size of the damage in effect of being in the state (states). The size of the suffered damage is measured by a product of time and unit cost whose quantities are connected with being in the operation process undesirable state or states. Assessment of risk connected with technical objects operation and maintenance can be the point of reference to formulate design requirements concerning durability and reliability of the operated objects (transport means) as well as assumptions concerning design or modernization of the technical means necessary for assurance of the vehicle availability in a given transport system.

Opis:
Continuous and dynamic development of freight transports, especially in the road sector, results in generation of negative effects on the environment and poses hazards to human health and life and by generating high costs it creates significant economic, social and environmental problems. Therefore, it is necessary to take actions aiming at promotion of development of sustainable and efficient transport systems, integrating different transport branches and technologies. Such requirements are fulfilled by the subsystem of inter-mode transport system, that is, combined transport which is an alternative for a traditional road transport, and can also play a very important role in achieving goals of the European policy for sustainable development of transport. Its promotion can largely contribute to solving present and future problems connected with transport in Europe through relieving excessively loaded roads from a certain portion of freight transports which will result in improvement in the traffic safety and reduction of its negative impact on the humans and the environment. Providing high quality of inter-mode transport operation, especially in terms of reliability, punctuality, safety and keeping delivery terms depends on the infrastructure state, modern equipment of terminals and efficiency and effectiveness of their functioning. It should be emphasized that promoting inter-mode transport provides social benefits on a big scale as shifting a part of international road transports into a combined one inter-mode can have a significant influence on reduction of the road transport external harmful effects. In this paper, there has been made an analysis and assessment of inter-mode transports in Poland, taking into consideration the motor and railway (linear and point) infrastructure. Also, a suggestion concerning the location and construction of terminals for the service of inter-mode transports has been considered. Moreover, a technical-economic analysis of implementation of the discussed solution purposefulness has been made as well.

Opis:
Improving safety and reliability of ship propulsion system during dynamic positioning (DP) operations of multipurpose vessels is an essential advantage. It may be such possibilities obtained by application the considered solutions of propulsion systems and all other elements of energetic system. The minimum requirements were determined by creating the regulations of dynamic positioning systems and their levels. Applying the solutions, which were exceeded the limits of basic requirements, allows to increase the safety and reliability levels with a low rise the investment costs. Many marine companies try to invent so low cost solutions. An example analysed in the paper is the Wartsila LCC system. The applications of more complicated solutions in comparison to required duplicated systems are expensive. The cheaper solution is an investing in the development of automatics configurations (for those systems it was applied the triple and quadruple configurations) which in transient or emergency conditions may obtain the time delay making possible a support of industry part work and DP systems. In emergency situation, after the loss of position by DP system, the power management system allow the safe break of work the industry part and return to work after elimination the critical condition.

Do kompleksowej ochrony przeciwpożarowej w budynkach, gdzie wykorzystuje się serwerownie jako środek gaszenia pożaru, stosuje się system gaszenia gazem (SGG). Wtedy środek gaśniczy (gaz) należy przechowywać w miejscu, które określone jest przez opracowany scenariusz pożarowy. Wszystkie czynności mają na celu ugaszenie pożaru już w fazie początkowej. Centrala sygnalizacji pożaru (CSP) otrzymuje informację o pożarze z grupy czujek zlokalizowanych w ochranianym pomieszczeniu i jednocześnie wysyła powiadomienie do Państwowej Straży Pożarnej (PSP). Centrala podrzędna uruchamia samoczynnie proces gaszenia gazem. Dzięki wykorzystaniu takiego procesu powiadamiania i gaszenia pożaru powstaje system nadmiarowy. Powoduje to zwiększenie niezawodności systemu sygnalizacji pożaru (SSP), który jest odpowiedzialny za bezpieczeństwo w budynku.
Fire protection of server rooms and data processing centres, located in public buildings, uses fire extinguishing equipment known as fixed gas fire extinguishing devices (SUG-G). The extinguishing medium (gas in tanks) should be stored at a location indicated in the fire scenario and in the technical contractor project for SUG-G. SUG-G is intended to extinguish a fire in its initial stages and to prevent fire spreading. The fire signalling central station (CSP) receives a fire signal from a group of sensors located in the protected premise and notifies the Fire Brigade (PS), whilst the fire extinguishing control room automatically starts the gas extinguishing process. Such use of a signalling and extinguishing system results in a redundant system. This improves reliability of the fire signalling system (SSP), which is responsible for safety inside the building.

The publication presents problems concerning to the implementation of the diagnosis process in the FAS with different functional structures supervising fire safety in transport facilities. The implementation of this process and the test results should be visualized at the FAC installation site (LCD panel) and sent via two independent ICT channels to the ARC. The results of diagnostic tests will enable immediate renewal of the system, and the remote service located in ARC has the ability to identify the type of inoperability and start repair using spare parts from a handy warehouse. This approach makes it possible to rationalize the value of the FAS readiness indicator in transport facilities.
W publikacji zaprezentowano problematykę dotyczącą realizacji procesu diagnozowania w SSP o różnych strukturach funkcjonalnych nadzorujących bezpieczeństwo pożarowe w obiektach transportowych. Realizacja tego procesu oraz wyniki badań powinny być zobrazowane w miejscu zainstalowania CSP (panel LCD) oraz przesyłane dwoma niezależnymi kanałami teleinformatycznymi do ACO. Wyniki badań diagnostycznych umożliwią podjęcie natychmiastowej odnowy systemu, a serwis zdalny znajdujący się w ACO ma możliwość identyfikacji rodzaju niezdatności i podjęcia naprawy z wykorzystaniem części zapasowych z podręcznego magazynu. Takie podejście umożliwia racjonalizacje wartości wskaźnika gotowości SSP w obiektach transportowych.

The paper presents Monte Carlo simulation method applied to the reliability evaluation of a multistate system subjected to a variable multistate operation process. The system operation process model is linked with the system reliability model and proposed to get a general reliability model of the complex system operating at varying in time operation conditions and to find its reliability characteristics. The Monte Carlo simulation algorithm based on the integrated general model of a complex multistate system reliability, linking its reliability model and its operation process model and considering variable at different operation states its reliability structure and its components reliability parameters is applied to the reliability evaluation of port grain transportation system. Next the results of this simulation method application are illustrated and compared with the results obtained by the analytical method.

In the case of longwall ventilation, in the underground hard coal mines, a phenomenon related to the migration of a certain amount of the air stream supplied to the longwall deep into goaf zones occurs. One of the wall ventilation systems, in which this phenomenon is quite intense, is the so called “Y” ventilation system. This migration is immensely unfavorable because it can lead to the self-heating process of coal left in a goaf and, consequently, to an endogenous fire. Such a fire is a great threat to both the safety and continuity of operation processes. For this reason, various activities are undertaken to prevent such a fire from occurring in goaf zones. One solution is a method presented in this article. It aims at determining an area in goaf zones, where an endogenous fire may occur. The study focused on the longwall ventilated with the Y system. This area was determined based on two criteria, namely air velocity and oxygen content. The study was carried out for various volumes of air supplied to the longwall. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to develop research methodology and determine the location of an area at the risk of an endogenous fire. The location of this area was determined for three different volume expenditures of air supplied to the longwall ventilated with the Y system.

The method of the statistical data sets uniformity analysis based on Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is presented. The procedure of statistical data sets uniformity testing is proposed to be applied to the empirical sojourn times in operation states coming from the operation processes of the complex technical systems. The proposed procedure is practically applied to the analysis and uniformity testing of the maritime ferry spring and Winter sets of realizations of the sojourn times in particular operation states.

An analysis of experimental tests and a literature survey of the issue revealed that the problems connected with assessment of costs and effectiveness of transport means repairs has a significant influence on their operation efficiency. Operating factors affecting the elements of technical objects cause negative changes in their features resulting in failures. The failures are referred to as events which significantly impair the vehicle operation efficiency, safety and reliability. On the basis of experimental tests concerning times of failures occurrence, it was found that the set of failures can be divided into subsets of primary and secondary failures. The tests results revealed that the most frequent cause of secondary failures occurrence was improperly performed primary repairs. Primary failures are not related to each other and they appear randomly. However, secondary failures are related to each other as their occurrence is conditioned by the primary failure and results from an inappropriate performance of the successive secondary failure. Basing on an analysis of the author 's own tests results, it was established that failures of transport means used in real transport systems are the effect of impact of various forcing factors. Some failures result from the natural wear of machine elements, whereas, other failures can be caused by inappropriate repair of the previous damage. Thus, there occur the so called secondary failures in a short period of time. In connection with this, high efficiency of the repair performance is of primary importance as it largely affects efficiency of transport tasks accomplishment. In this article, there has been discussed a method developed for assessment of repair costs connected with elimination of secondary failures and its influence on the studied transport system operation efficiency. Familiarity with available technologies for repairs of primary failures as well as with costs of work and costs connected with technical equipment of the repair stations enables specification of the lowest costs necessary for reduction of the number of secondary failures and the average time of their repairs.

In the article, a method for determination of the technical object availability, GO (r) in a finite time interval x, defined by the time of the transport task duration, has been discussed. All of the study has been presented on the example of a selected system of technical object operation - a system of transport means operation, in a big urban complex (more than 400 thousand inhabitants). Direct performance of the transport tasks in the analyzed system is the responsibility of an executive system consisting of elementary subsystems of the type operator- transport means. Availability of transport means elementary subsystems is crucial for efficient accomplishment of transport tasks. The presented method involves determination of the technical object availability, on the basis of a mathematical model of the operation process which takes place in the studied system, taking into consideration the technical object reliability characteristics. For this purpose, significant states of the transport means operation have been determined and they have been classified in terms of the availability criterion. Basing on this, an event and mathematical models of transport means operation process have been developed, with the semi Markov homogenous model serving as a mathematical model of the studied operation process. Also, values of the analyzed characteristics have been determined.

Modern organizations commonly use the strategy of a learning organization, and therefore operate with not only material resources, but also information resources. The collected data resources become the basis for generating business and management information. This database is maintained on various platforms using integrated BI (Business Intelligence) systems enabling knowledge to be generated through the data-mining mechanisms embedded in the artificial intelligence models. In this article, the authors focus on AI (Artificial Intelligence) models and systems based on ANN's (Artificial Neural Networks) and fuzzy set theory, which can be useful in solutions dedicated to supporting the complex management of modern organisations, and in particular the support of active functions (forecasting, planning and monitoring activities, as well as risk analysis and system effectiveness).

The multi-state reliability function of complex system is defined and determined for the shipyard rope ship elevator. The paper explores the mathematical and computer modeling of complex technical systems related to their operation processes. The complex technical system with the reliability structure and components’ reliability parameters changing at the various operation states is defined. The selected system operation process parameters and the hypothetical distribution functions of the conditional sojourn times at the operation states are defined and identified. The reliability functions of the multistate system and components are introduced and their parameters are identified. The Monte Carlo simulation method is proposed to the complex system reliability evaluation. Moreover, the proposed theoretical and simulation tools are supported with the practical application to the multi-state port oil piping transportation system reliability analysis.

W artykule przedstawiona jest metoda optymalizacji procesu eksploatacji i niezawodności złożonych systemów technicznych oraz program komputerowy pozwalający na automatyczne zastosowanie proponowanej procedury. Program wyznacza chwilowe prawdopodobieństwa przebywania systemu w poszczególnych stanach eksploatacyjnych, które maksymalizują czasy przebywania systemu w podzbiorach stanów niezawodnościowych nie gorszych niż stan krytyczny, a następnie korzystając z otrzymanych rezultatów pozwala na predykcję optymalnych charakterystyk niezawodności i ryzyka złożonych systemów technicznych. Program jest zastosowany do optymalizacji niezawodności i ryzyka lądowego linowego transportera statków. Ustalone są następujące optymalne charakterystyki: optymalna bezwarunkowa funkcja niezawodności systemu, optymalne wartości średnie bezwarunkowych czasów przebywania systemu w podzbiorach stanów niezawodnościowych, optymalna funkcja ryzyka systemu oraz optymalny moment, kiedy funkcja ryzyka przekroczy ustalony poziom.
The presented computer program for the evaluation and prediction of the complex technical system reliability and risk of optimal characteristics is based on methods and algorithms of optimisation presented in [2, 6, 7]. The computer program determines the transient probabilities in particular operation states maximising the system lifetimes in the reliability-state subset not worse than the system critical reliability state and then using the obtained results to evaluate optimal reliability and risk characteristics of the complex technical systems. In order to illustrate the application of the computer program, we determined optimal reliability and risk characteristics of a ground ship-rope transporter. Presented in the paper is the reliability and risk optimisation of a real shipyard system that can be an example of a computer aid for the operation process of transportation systems.

W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie oceny stanu granicznego oleju silnikowego w eksploatacji. Dokonano analizy stanu granicznego obiektu technicznego przyjmując, że olej silnikowy stanowi element systemu tribologicznego. Wyznaczono graniczne parametry stanu oleju i porównano je z wartościami charakteryzującymi stan w eksploatacji. Na tej podstawie określono stan niezawodnościowy oleju w chwili jego wymiany w silniku.
In this article, the problem of the border state of the engine oil during operation has been presented. An analysis of the condition of the technical object was made assuming that the engine oil is part of the tribological system. Limit values were determined and compared with the values characterizing the condition of the oil in operation. On this basis, the reliability of the oil was determined at the point of time when the oil in the engine is being changed.

W artykule przedstawiono nowe praktyczne narzędzie do rozwiązania zagadnienia optymalizacji procesu eksploatacji i niezawodności złożonych systemów technicznych. Wykorzystano zintegrowany ogólny model niezawodności złożonych systemów technicznych w zmiennych warunkach eksploatacyjnych, łączący wielostanowe podejście do analizy niezawodności systemów z modelem semi-markowskim ich procesu eksploatacji. Ten łączny model oraz programowanie liniowe zaproponowane są jako narzędzie do optymalizacji procesów eksploatacji złożonych systemów technicznych skutkującej maksymalizacją średnich czasów przebywania systemów w podzbiorach stanów niezawodnościowych.
A convenient new tool for solving the problem of reliability and availability evaluation and optimisation of complex technical systems is presented. Linking a semi-Markov modelling of the system operation processes with a multi-state approach to system reliability analysis is proposed to construct the joint general model of the reliability of complex technical systems in variable operation conditions. This joint model and linear programming are proposed for complex technical systems for the optimisation and maximisation the system lifetimes in the reliability state subsets.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki identyfikacji procesu eksploatacji, realizowanego w wybranym systemie transportu drogowego. Jako obiekt badań wybrano przedsiębiorstwo transportowo-spedycyjne zajmujące się przewozem ładunków na terenie Unii Europejskiej, krajów skandynawskich i Rosji. Na podstawie wyników badań eksploatacyjnych zdefiniowano istotne stany analizowanego procesu oraz możliwe przejścia między tymi stanami. Następnie opracowano graf skierowany odwzorowania procesu eksploatacji oraz wyznaczono wartości wybranych parametrów opisujących badany proces. Rezultaty badań stanowią podstawę do założeń służących opracowaniu matematycznego modelu procesu eksploatacji środków transportu drogowego.
In this article there are presented results of the process of operation and maintenance identification on the basis of a selected system of road transportation. The research object is a transportation-shipping company carrying loads on the territory of the European Union, Scandinavian countries and Russia. Significant states of the analyzed process and possible transitions from state to state have been identified on the basis of the experimental tests results. Also a directed graph of the operation process mapping has been developed as well as values of selected parameters, describing the considered process, has been determined. The results of tests provide basis for elaboration of assumptions to build a mathematical model of road transport means operation process.

W pracy przeanalizowano gotowość środków transportu eksploatowanych w wybranym rzeczywistym systemie transportu drogowego. Gotowość środków transportu w istotny sposób wpływa na możliwość realizacji zadań przewozowych i utrzymywana jest na odpowiednim poziomie w wyniku realizacji procesów w podsystemie logistycznym, wykonywanych na stanowiskach zajezdni (procesy obsługi, naprawy, diagnozowania i zaopatrzenia). Obiektem badań było przedsiębiorstwo transportowo-spedycyjne zajmujące się przewozem ładunków na terenie Unii Europejskiej, krajów skandynawskich i Rosji. Na podstawie literatury opracowano wzory opisujące gotowość badanych środków transportu oraz dla danych eksploatacyjnych wyznaczono jej wartości. Rezultaty badań stanowią podstawę do opracowania założeń do budowy i skonstruowania matematycznego modelu wyznaczania i oceny gotowości środków transportu drogowego.
In this article there is presented the availability of transport means in the selected system of road transportation. Availability of transport means has a significant influence on the capability of the transport task accomplishment and is maintained at a proper level due to realization of processes carried out within the logistic system on stands of a depot (servicing, repairing, diagnosing and supplying processes). The research object is a transportation-shipping company carrying loads on the territory of the European Union, Scandinavian countries and Russia. Based on the literature developed models which describing the availability of respondents means of transport for operational data and determined its value. The results of tests provide basis for elaboration of assumptions to build a mathematical model of availability of road transport means.

Modelling and prediction of the operation and reliability of technical multistate ageing systems related to their operation processes called complex systems are briefly presented and applied to prediction of the operation processes and reliability characteristics of an exemplary complex non-homogeneous system composed of a series-parallel and a series-“m out of l” subsystems linked in series, changing its reliability structure and its components reliability parameters at variable operation conditions. Further, the linear programming is proposed to the operation and reliability optimization of complex technical systems operating at variable operation conditions. The method consists in determining the optimal values of limit transient probabilities at the system operation states that maximize the system lifetimes in the reliability state subsets. The proposed method is practically applied to the operation and reliability optimization of the considered exemplary complex system.

The paper deals with an analysis and mathematical model of means of transport operation and maintenance. The considerations are based on a selected real transport means system - city bus transport system in a chosen agglomeration. The model has been built on the basis of a real city transport system involving realization of the process of operation and maintenance of means of transport. For this purpose, the process significant states and possible transitions between theses states have been determined. On this basis, an event model of means of transport operational use process was built, and next its mathematical model was made, with the assumption of its being the homogenous Markov 's model. Means of transport values of boundary probabilities for their being in the process particular states, were determined for data concerning their operational use. This serves as the basis for an analysis of the studied process of operational use. The presented Markov's model of the means of transport operational use process is the effect of accomplishmen of the first stage of the resultant model (semi-Markov's model) of operational use. The resultant model will be a part of a wide scale, decision model for creation and assessment of the transport system being ready for operation.

The article presents the fundamental conditions for the logistics system, the task of which is to protect the functioning of weapon systems. In pursuing these requirements and conditions take into account conditions of the NATO military logistics. Article highlights the need to make research and development supporting the effective operation of the logistics system, which protects the use of weapons systems in the armed forces.

Ship propulsion configurations with dynamic positioning systems are commonly used as diesel-electric. In particular, situations for ship transfer on longer distances may be used conventional mechanical propulsion system with controllable pitch propeller. Combination of mechanical and electric propulsion system called hybrid propulsion is met as well, where the thrusters of DP systems are driven through the gear by mechanical engine or electric motor independent or both. For the sake of the necessity of limitation of total installed power on the ship may occurred problems with power distribution between the ship propulsion and industry part. It will especially concern those situations when we need to keep power supply to the industry part and there is a necessity to increase the power delivered to ship propulsion part for the purpose of keeping the ship position or heading. The primary task of power management system (PMS) is blackout prevention in ship energetic network and so power distribution to overcome critical conditions of it. Temporarily it may occur the worsening of positioning operation accuracy without any critical situations of industry part. The possibility of momentary overloading of energetic network is primary condition of safety. The critical duration of overloading is one minute. This is indispensable time for increasing the accessible power in the energetic system through switching on the next genset to work. It is a necessity of quick analysis in critical conditions to value what key-actions ought to do in the aim of overcoming emergency situations. The next one is a usage of energy storage devices. It is possible through AC/DC conversion. It was tried to find solutions of equalization the load of gensets to the ship electric energy demand.

The basis of operation systems functioning is their ability to accomplish set goals, in given conditions, place, quantity and time. Assessment of their operation quality is a summary measurement of their efficiency, reliability, safety, environment friendliness and ergonomics. The analysis of literature on this subject proves, that studying the systems operation quality is one of the main factors, which make up the processes of their service, repairs, control, supply, diagnostics, and most of all, operation of used machines and devices. The studied systems belong to socio-technical systems of the type H–M–E (human–machine–environment), to which the discussed transport system, being the research object of this work, belongs as well. Basing on the author's own research and the identification of processes occurring within the studied object, a method and a model for its operation quality assessment have been developed and discussed in the article. Application of the method enables making an assessment of the research object operation quality, depending on changes of values of features describing the actions of operators, technical objects operated by them and the impact of the environment.
Podstawą działania systemów eksploatacji jest realizacja postawionych im celów w określonych warunkach, miejscu, ilości i czasie. Ocena jakości ich funkcjonowania stanowi zbiorczą miarę zarówno pod względem efektywności, niezawodności, bezpieczeństwa, ekologiczności, jak i ergonomiczności. Z analizy literatury przedmiotowej wynika, że badanie jakości funkcjonowania tych systemów stanowi jeden z podstawowych czynników w procesach obsługowo-naprawczych, sterowania, zasilania, diagnozowania, a w szczególności użytkowania eksploatowanych w nich maszyn i urządzeń. Omawiane systemy zalicza się do systemów socjotechnicznych typu (człowiek–maszyna–otoczenie), wśród których wyróżnić można system transportowy, stanowiący w niniejszym opracowaniu obiekt badań. Na podstawie wyników własnych badań eksploatacyjnych oraz identyfikacji procesów realizowanych w obiekcie badań w opracowaniu przedstawiono metodę oraz zbudowano model oceny jakości działania takich systemów. Zastosowanie tej metody umożliwia ocenę jakości ich działania, realizowaną w zależności od zmian wartości cech opisujących działanie operatorów, sterowanych przez nich obiektów technicznych oraz wpływu otoczenia.

Zaprezentowano strukturę elektronicznego systemu bezpieczeństwa. Zawarto ogólne informacje dotyczące budowy i zasad działania ESB ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem potrzeb ochrony obiektów o szczególnym charakterze. Podano także przykładowe rozwiązanie ESB spotykane w praktycznych rozwiązaniach. Omówiono wyniki przeprowadzonych badań długofalowych, które umożliwiły określenie istotnych wskaźników eksploatacyjnych i niezawodnościowych, tak ważnych dla prawidłowego funkcjonowania ESB (systemu).
The paper presents important reliability and operation aspects of Electronic Security System units, as well as their structure. As the result of the extensive long-term research done by the author, the reliability and operation indicators important for the proper functioning of electronic safety systems have been identified. Particular attention was paid to the needs of the objects of special character.

One of the basic ventilation hazards and, at the same time most dangerous, in hard coal mines is the methane hazard. During the exploitation process using the longwall system with the breaking down of roof rocks, methane is released into mining excavations from both mined coal and the one left in goaves. Significant amounts of methane also flow from the underworked and overworked seams, through cracks and fissures formed in the rock mass. When accumulated at an explosive concentration level in goves and at an appropriate oxygen concentration level and the occurrence of a trigger (e.g. a spark or endogenous fire), methane may either explode or ignite. These are immensely dangerous phenomena. Therefore, the possibility of their occurrence should be limited. The article presents the results of the research aimed at determining the impact of the permeability of goaf zones on the distribution of methane and oxygen concentration levels in these goaves. The study was carried out for the longwall ventilated with the Y system. The model analysis was conducted, the results of which allowed the authors to determine these distributions. On their basis, both the location and size of the areas in which hazardous methane concentrations could occur were designated. The results are of great practical importance as they indicate areas in goaves where preventive measures should be implemented.

This paper presents operability guidelines for seafarers on a product tanker which navigates in the Adriatic Sea during heavy weather. Tanker route starts from the Otranto strait in the south to the island Krk in the north of Adriatic Sea. Heavy weather is caused by south wind called jugo (blowing from E-SE to SS-E, sirocco family). Operability guidelines are given based on an operability criteria platform for presenting ship seakeeping characteristics. Operability criteria considered in this paper are propeller emergence, deck wetness and bow acceleration of a product tanker. Limiting values of mentioned criteria determine sustainable speed. Heavy weather is described by extreme sea state of 7.5 m wave height. Wave spectrum used in this paper is Tabain spectrum which is developed specifically for Adriatic Sea. Seafarer’s approach of decisions making in extreme weather is also shown and servers as a guideline for further research of the authors.
W artykule przedstawiono propozycję wytycznych operacyjnych dla żeglugi tankowca na Morzu Adriatyckim podczas pogody sztormowej. Rozpatrywany szlak zaczyna się w cieśninie Otranto na południu i prowadzi do wyspy Krk na północy. Założono, że pogoda sztormowa jest spowodowana przez wiejący z kierunku SS-E wiatr południowy Jugo z grupy wiatrów lokalnych Sirocco. Zalecenia operacyjne zostały opracowane na podstawie kryteriów użytecznych dla osób odpowiadających za wachtę morską. Za takie uznano przede wszystkim: aspekt wynurzania się śruby napędowej, czynnik zalewania pokładu i przyspieszenia rejestrowane na dziobie statku. Wartości graniczne wspomnianych kryteriów określają dopuszczalną prędkość statku. Pogoda sztormowa została opisana przez dopuszczalny stan morza wyrażony wysokością fal (7.5 m). Dla opisu spektrum fal zastosowano kryterium Tabaina, najlepiej opisujące specyfikę Morza Adriatyckiego. Zaproponowane podejście zostanie również wykorzystane przez autora w dalszych badaniach.

Can is widely distributed network in the industry and automotive applications with high availability enable its electronic components and the easy integration projects with software engineering research Matlab type, tends to encourage the use of these precious features of CAN to build research stands. The article presents a data transmission system using the CAN protocol as a test of a new generation of cooling systems for internal combustion engines. Adopted for the object of research methodology which involves the simulation of variable parameters of the different control strategies require data processing in real time. A large number of recorded and interpreted online information about the temperatures in many parts of the facility and other variables such as instantaneous fuel consumption, secreted mechanical power, crankshaft and throttle position together with the need to control the plant justify departure from the traditional methods of transmitting signals in separate lines , for the application data exchange network, adopted by the authors as a way of organizing the flow of data based on the CAN protocol using the Matlab Simulink Real Time. The article contains a description of the implementation of networks in the context of very specific features for Controller Area Network particularly regarding mechanisms such as arbitration on the bus, the method of initiation and the provision of sufficient transmission capacity. The presented graphs and diagrams illustrate the proposed and implemented solutions and the results obtained from stucties measuring temperatures for the warm-up and cooling of the engine.

During an operation phase, a technical system accomplishes goals for the purpose of which it was designed and created. The execution of the system operation tasks induces changes in the system feature values. The changes origin from an impact of wearing factors, which can be divided into two groups, dependent on and independent, from the system operation. The state of the system is determined by the values of the system features. Therefore, during the operation phase, the state of the system is changing. If the physical features of the system reach the boundary values due to the wearing factors, the system switches to a boundary state and the further operation is not possible because of a risk of a failure appearance. The changes of the system state can be expressed in the system feature space. The dimensions of the space are the cardinal features of the system. In this paper, the space of cardinal features of the system was defined. The points in that space are the technical states of the system. For the dimensions of the space, the characteristic points and ranges were introduced. Within the space, the areas of ability, disability and limited ability of the system were formulated as well. The representation of system technical states in the defined space makes it possible to develop the numeric model of the system-operating task for an exemplary research object.
W fazie eksploatacji system techniczny realizuje cele, dla których został zaprojektowany i wytworzony. Realizacja celów użytkowania systemu powoduje zmianę wartości cech systemu na skutek działania czynników wymuszających zależnych i niezależnych od jego działania. Stan systemu determinowany jest wartościami jego cech, co oznacza, że w fazie eksploatacji zmienia się stan systemu. Jeżeli na skutek oddziaływania czynników wymuszających wartości cech fizycznych opisujących stan systemu osiągną wartości graniczne, to system znajdzie się w stanie granicznym i jego dalsze użytkowanie doprowadzi do wystąpienia stanu niezdatności. Zmiany stanu systemu można wyrazić w przestrzeni jego cech, której wymiarami są cechy kardynalne. W pracy zdefiniowano przestrzeń cech kardynalnych systemu, której punktami są stany techniczne systemu. W przestrzeni tej wprowadzono wartości i przedziały charakterystyczne dla każdego wymiaru, określając tym samym obszary stanów zdatności, niezdatności oraz ograniczonej zdatności systemu. Dzięki odwzorowaniu stanów technicznych systemu w zdefiniowanej przestrzeni wykonano numeryczne modelowanie zadania eksploatacyjnego przykładowego obiektu badań.

A new approach is proposed for safety investigations of complex multistate systems. These systems have dependent components, called critical infrastructures, with variable operating conditions. The safety function of the critical infrastructure system is defined and determined for an exemplary “m out of l” critical infrastructure. In the fully-developed model, it is assumed that system components have multistate exponential safety functions with interdependent departure rates from subsets of safety states. A critical infrastructure safety model is adopted for an oil pipeline transportation system operating in a maritime port.

Basic concepts of the safety analysis of ageing multistate systems are introduced. The system components and the system multistate safety functions are defined. The mean values and variances of the multistate systems’ lifespans in the safety state subsets and the mean values of their lifespans in the particular safety states are defined. The multistate system risk function and the moment of exceeding the critical safety state are introduced. A series safety structure and a parallel-series safety structure of the multistate systems with ageing components are defined and their safety functions are determined. The multistate system safety models are applied to the prediction of safety characteristics of a maritime ferry.

The paper is concerned with an application of the critical infrastructure operation process related to climateweather change model to identification and prediction of this process for the port oil piping transportation system. There are distinguished three different processes for the corresponding piping operating area. Further, using identified parameters of the piping operation process and the piping operating area climate-weather change processes, there are determined the unknown parameters of those processes. Namely, there are determined the probabilities of the processes staying at the initial states, the probabilities of the transitions between the states and the mean values of the processes' conditional sojourn times at particular states. Finally, there are predicted the main characteristics of the piping operation process related to climate-weather change processes at the distinguished operating area.

Opis:
Efficient diagnosis and prognosis of system faults depend on the ability to estimate the system state on the basis of noisy measurements of the system dynamic variables and parameters. The system dynamics is typically characterized by transitions among discrete modes of operation, each one giving rise to a specific continuous dynamics of evolution. The estimation of the state of these hybrid dynamic systems is a particularly challenging task because it requires keeping track of the transitions among the multiple modes of system dynamics corresponding to the different modes of operation. In this paper a Monte Carlo estimation method is illustrated with an application to a case study of literature which consists of a tank filled with liquid, whose level is autonomously maintained between two thresholds. The system behavior is controlled by discrete mode actuators, whose states are estimated by a Monte Carlo-based particle filter on the basis of noisy level and temperature measurements.

The paper presents an attempt to develop better and cheaper methodology for evaluation of the quality of the ships’ computerized Planned Maintenance System databases. A concept for the better methodology has been developed following many times verified rule that faster and cheaper is better. The concept of the methodology has been checked in operation, tested on four different databases. Results of the evaluation performed by the concept are compared with an expert evaluation using old, verified methodology, performed on same databases. Comparison valuated the concept, bringing the verdict if it is functioning or not, showing that the old and verified rule is not functioning every time.

The transport is an important part of logistic systems. Improper management of transport operations may contribute to the low level of the usage of vehicles and to high transport costs, as well as to the formation of unnecessary high inventory at each location of storage, as well as prolonged time of order realization and not full use of company capacity. It is therefore important the appropriate dimensioning, planning of the transport system and performed transport operations so as to allow the supply of certain goods at the right time and the amount to the appropriate points of the system. The article presents the methods of transport operations modelling, taking into account different criteria based on discrete event simulation. In the article the case study of modelling transport operations in the small cross-docking centre is also presented.

This publication show issue of decision process for safety air activity connected with correct service and using of aircraft. Model-decisional loop is very good indication, which should be used by technical staff and pilots during aircraft maintenance and operation. System constructed according to model of decision loop helps to select essential information and analyze current situation on aviation market, what allow on quick and efficient planning next technical activities.
W publikacji przedstawiono istotę procesu decyzyjnego dla bezpieczeństwa lotniczego oraz działalność związana z prawidłowym obsługiwaniem i użytkowaniem statków powietrznych. Model-pętla decyzyjna stanowi bardzo dobry wskaźnik, jakim powinien się kierować personel lotniczy podczas eksploatacji statków powietrznych. Systemy konstruowane wg pętli decyzyjnej pomaga selekcjonować istotne informacje, analizować aktualna sytuacje na rynku lotniczym, co pozwala na szybkie i skuteczne zaplanowanie racjonalnych, technicznych działań.
