A purpose of this text is to describe how the concept of time is used in pedagogical research. An author characterizes research of educational reality in which the described category is used. Thanks to this, the potential of the concept of time was presented. The author concludes that the possibilities of this category are not used in pedagogical research and that the temporal dimension of education offers enormous exploratory possibilities. The text is completed with the characteristics of time structuring in transactional analysis as one of the ways to temporarily conceptualize interpersonal relationships in educational institutions.

The purpose of the article was to draw attention to usefulness of a relatively recently separated, additional time structuring category: play. This category refers to Natural Child’s activity state, under which a person consciously takes actions with a high level of spontaneity, which is a source of pleasant emotions. This way of time structuring, despite having some common points, differs both from pastimes, games, activities and intimacy, covering some categorisation gaps in Berne’s categorisation system. It was confirmed by my own study on the link between students’ style of living and time structuring, which showed that play has an important role in their lives.

The problem structuring method of General Morphological Analysis was used to explore the factors and uncertainties to be considered in the proposed building of a canal linking the Morava and Vardar Rivers, which in recent years has taken on greater importance given its possible link in China’s one belt initiative. Facilitated workshop sessions identified five main factors - investors, risks, the motivation to invest, type of investment and long-term benefits - and 19 conditional states resulting in 1440 unique scenarios. Using specialist software and input from subject matter specialists from the fields of geography, environment and security, 81 scenarios were isolated. Modelling indicated that over two-thirds of scenarios did not feature the impact on environmental damage such as raised pollution and effect on biodiversity. Interestingly, while financial institutions and the EU did feature because of reputational and ethical reasons, non-EU governments, construction firms and some regional governments did not. The implications of these findings warrant additional research but results of this study suggest that strengthening of governance would be required to mitigate impact on the local environment.

The joint statutory recommendations developed by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), the greater consumer awareness, and environmental considerations confirm the need to reduce the consumption of saturated fatty acids in the human diet. This has contributed to the development of innovative methods for replacement of saturated fats in food products. Oleogels obtained with various methods are such an alternative. Therefore, the study was focused on the analysis of the current applications of oleogels in selected food products and elucidation of the mechanisms of oleogel formation. As indicated by many researchers, oleogels (structured oils) can replace trans and saturated fats in food products and can be used in the production of spreads as well as bakery, confectionery, and dairy products. However, there are still many challenges and technological problems preventing commercial application of oleogels in the industry. It is also important to develop oleogels with higher physical and antioxidant stability, which will be used in a wide range of food products manufactured in varying production conditions and give the final products the desired sensory properties. Nevertheless, given its nutritional and environmental values, oleogelation has great potential for future industrial use.
Wspólne zalecenia ustawowe opracowane przez Organizację Narodów Zjednoczonych do spraw Wyżywienia i Rolnictwa (FAO) i Światową Organizację Zdrowia (WHO), większa świadomość konsumenta, względy środowiskowe potwierdzają konieczność ograniczenia spożycia nasyconych kwasów tłuszczowych w diecie człowieka. Doprowadziło to do opracowania innowacyjnych metod zastępowania nasyconych tłuszczów w produktach spożywczych. Taką alternatywą są oleożele otrzymywane różnymi metodami. Stąd w pracy dokonano analizy aktualnych zastosowań oleożeli na wybranych produktach spożywczych wraz z mechanizmami ich powstawania. Na podstawie dokonanej analizy badań prowadzonych przez wielu autorów, oleożele (oleje strukturyzowane) mogą zastąpić tłuszcze trans i nasycone w produktach spożywczych i mieć zastosowanie w rozwoju takich jak produkty do smarowania, pieczywo, słodycze czy nabiał. Jednak nadal istnieje wiele wyzwań oraz problemów technologicznych, które uniemożliwiają komercyjne zastosowanie opracowanych oleożeli w przemyśle. Ważne jest także opracowanie oleożeli o wyższej stabilności fizycznej i antyoksydacyjnej, które mogą być stosowane w szerokim zakresie żywności w różnych warunkach produkcyjnych i nadać produktom końcowym pożądane właściwości sensoryczne. Oleożelifikacja daje jednak duży potencjał do zastosowania przemysłowego w przyszłości ze względu na wartości żywieniowe i środowiskowe.

During interactions, system actors may face up misunderstandings when their local states contain inconsistent data about the same fact. Misunderstandings in interactions are likely to reduce interactivity performances (deviation or deadlock) or even affect overall system behavior. In this paper, we characterize misunderstandings in interactions between system actors (that may be human users or system agents) in interactive adaptive systems. To deal with such misunderstandings and ensure state consistency, we present an agent-based architecture and a scenario structuring approach. The system includes several agents devoted to scenario unfolding, plot adaptation and consistency management. Scenario structuring is based on the notion of a situation that is an elementary building block dividing the interactions between systems’ actors into contextual scenes. This pattern supports not only scenario execution but consistency management as well. In order to organize and control interactions, the situation contextualizes interactions and activity of the system’s actors. It also includes prevention and tolerance agent-based mechanisms to deal with the misunderstandings and their causes. We validate our consistency management mechanisms using Uppaal simulation and provide some experimental results to show the effectiveness of our approach on an online distance learning case study.

This study examines improving student learning outcomes through a structured approach to technology utilization in the design of the course. A process was developed to actively integrate laptops into two Business Intelligence classes where numerous software applications were introduced in order to build student skills with analysis. In addition the implications of a teaching lab with uniform hardware and software versus the variety that results when students bring their own laptops is also considered. Results showed students’ evaluations of the process was positive and some significant improvements in skill development over the previous semester resulted. Insights and suggestions are explored.

For the entire period of state construction in Ukraine, the strategy of stable economical growth of country’s freight potential has been practically ignored. The solution to this problem requires systematic study of mechanisms and methods of growth and operation of the most important sectors of international freight market. Despite world’s freight statistics being systematic, there is practically no established methodology to assess its sustainable development in the times of globalization. Typically, all that is available are in-sights into certain aspects of freight market parameters formation. Thus, this article focuses on systematization of the general principles of world’s marine trade development and evaluation of the most realistic directions for establishing Ukraine as a full-scale maritime state.

This editorial outlines the theoretical and methodological underpinnings of the current special issue, signalling some of the practical implications of the problems investigated. As the title of the collection highlights the convergence of “translation” and “cognition”, emphasis is here first placed on what “cognitive” can be taken to stand for in translation-centred research. I then discuss the other identifying idea of the issue – that of asymmetry – i.e. the observation that conceptual-semantic content is variably partitioned as it gets coded in different languages. Special attention is paid to cross-linguistic conventionalisation misalignment which requires sensitisation to translation scenarios where the symmetry of the source and target structures is only illusory.

Opis:
Seeding of cells on functional, biocompatible scaffolds is a crucial step in achieving the desired engineered tissue. The authors show the constructional solutions of the Nd:YAG pulse laser system with the Q-switch modulation for direct and interferential shaping of the surface of biocompatible materials. The two-channel interference system is distinguished by high control, simplicity and repetitiveness regarding laser energy level and dimensions of the surface structures. The experiments were conducted on hard, biocompatible substrates of amorphous carbon (diamond-like carbon, DLC) and were preliminarily tested on smooth muscle cell depositions.

The article is devoted to the description of the methods of correction of the semantic fields of words. We defined its main tasks, linguistic material and conditions of its use, substantiated the principles of the division of material into educational directions, specified the aims of this choice, defined the criteria for selecting the material (thematic principle, linguistic, morphological, frequency, hierarchical, etc.). These principles enabled us to form pivotal vocabulary groups for secondary school children, taking into account their linguistic experience and the curricula requirements for children with severe speech disorders. We described three main stages of the implementation of the remedial program, their purpose and directions of work, namely, the actualization of the existing knowledge of the child, the expansion of the lexical meaning through the accumulation of new words and the use of semantic ties to integrate them into existing semantic fields. The most critical and most important was the stage of harmonization, structuring and repolarization of semantic fields, in which conditions for independent construction and modification of semantic fields were created, as it provided for independent, competent work of children in selecting, processing and using the information obtained from different sources and branches of knowledge, as well as acquiring skills by one’s own choice or instruction to transform existing semantic fields. The article gives a list of practical tasks offered to children at different stages of remedy for individual and group work. Students worked with ready-made graphic structures of expressions and dynamic models. In order to visualize the process of forming semantic fields, in addition to the generally accepted models (associative chains), we proposed some projective models (“the snowball tree cluster", “the sundial", “the associative bush", and the “ multi-stage pyramid", which allowed to study quantitative and qualitative characteristics of semantic fields.

The global community has been overcoming the crisis of being in the city for almost a century. And we are trying to answer the problems of urban crises - how and why do they arise, which development path should the city take and is this step justified? The simplest way of overcoming the crisis by the city authorities is an irrational solution - to erase the past, and build a new one. In such cases, the historical layering of images of the city, which have a great cultural value, is not taken into account. The city government alone and the bunch of institutions interested exclusively in their own financial issues do not have the right to carry out any transformations of the urban image without the participation of the city society and persons competent in this matter. It is culturology, on the one hand, that makes it possible to implement a comprehensive understanding of transformations in the urban space, excluding the one-sided development of transformations from a technical and aesthetic point of view of urban planning. On the other hand, it allows awareness-raising activities among urban residents, teaching them a kind of literacy and critical thinking about the center of their existence. However, for this purpose there must be a certain strategy of work and social cohesion. So, having faced the problem of lack of convenient and at the same time comprehensive definition of the above-mentioned historical layering and the feasibility of transformations in the urban image, in this article I propose, in my opinion, mandatory and at the same time the main stage of work for institutions involved in urban planning. I have developed a model of systematization of concepts of the image of the city, which at this time have already formed a historical multi-layer of the city. This development demonstrated the ability to predict the “behavior” of urban transformations in the future, especially young cities, whose historical layers of images are still ahead, based on the calculation of adaptation maxima in the life of the concept of the city image.

Testy psychologiczne to narzędzia służące do pomiaru natężenia danej cechy psychicznej u osoby badanej. Pomiar ten w wielu przypadkach odbywa się za pośrednictwem pytań lub stwierdzeń, do których ustosunkowują się badani. Choć narzędzia psychologiczne podlegają wysokiej standaryzacji i przykłada się dużą wagę do ich parametryzacji, sfery językowa testów zdaje się być uznawana za drugoplanową. Sposób sfomułowania pytań testowych, w zależności od tego, czy oparte będą na hiponimach lub hiperonimach, może w znacznym stopniu wpłynąć na udzieloną przez badanego odpowiedź, a przez to obniżyć trafność teoretyczną narzędzia. Autorki artkułu przeprowadziły badanie, w którym 637 osób wypełniało test psychologiczny FCZ-KT (Strelau, Zawadzki 1995), a następnie opisywało sytuacje, które przywołali w pamięci ustosunkowując się do 20 ze 120 pytań z tegoż testu (pytania zostały wyłonione wcześniej podczas badania pilotażowego). Odpowiedzi otwarte udzielone przez badanych zostały skategoryzowane przez sędziów kompetentnych. W niniejszym artykule przedstawione zostanie spektrum różnorodnych skojarzeń jakie u osób badanych budzi ten sam item. Refleksji poddana zostanie sfera językowa testów psychologicznych jako wpływająca w sposób istotny na wiarygodność narzędzia.
Psychological inventories are tools used to measure intensity of a given trait in an examined person. Many inventories are based on written questions to which people respond. Although psychological inventories are standardized and their parameterization is a matter of great importance, the linguistic sphere of tests seems to be considered as secondary. The way in which the inventory questions are structured, depending on whether they are based on hyponyms or hyperonyms, has a significant impact on the response given by people diagnosed. Moreover, it can reduce theoretical validity of the tool. The authors of the article conducted a study in which 637 people completed the FCZ-KT inventory (Strelau, Zawadzki 1995). Next, the respondents described situations in which they recalled answering 20 out of 120 questions from the inventory (questions were selected earlier during the pilot study). Open answers given by the respondents were categorized by competent judges. This article presents the spectrum of various associations that the same item evokes in different respondents. The linguistic aspect of psychological tests and the issue of credibility of tools related to it is the main subject of the article.
