This article presents a statistical and comparative analysis of four spelling conventions that represent different stages in the development of the Polish graphic system: the graphic system of a late-medieval manuscript (hand-written text), the standard spelling convention typical for the first half of the sixteenth century, the accepted and standard modern spelling of the first half of the twentieth century and the innovative set of graphic features used in electronic media. The characteristics of the statistical parameters encompasses dispersion and entropy in the first and the second row of letters, as well as in two-element sets (dyads). The analysis proves that: 1) inasmuch as the degree of differentiation of the distribution of signs, the history of Polish spelling convention prior to the solidification of the modern standard practice (accepted standard system) manifested a self-organizing tendency that was based on a reduction of letter signs and two-element letter combinations (ligatures) with the frequency of 1; 2) innovative solutions used in the set of graphic features characteristic for electronic media do not violate the statistical proportion between letters and their dyads operative and specific for modern standard graphic system 3) in respect to theory and information, the transformations of the graphic substance (graphic system) (within the analysed chronological timeframe) depended on neither progress (evolution) nor degradation.

W artykule został przedstawiony problem normy wzorcowej w opozycji do normy użytkowej w nauczaniu języka polskiego jako obcego (jpjo). Analiza kilku, losowo wybranych podręczników do nauczania jpjo pokazuje, że norma realizowana jest tam rozmaicie. Stąd postulat, aby zagadnienie to poddać szerszej refleksji glottodydaktycznej i zastanowić się nad rolą obu norm w nauczaniu jpjo.
The article presents the issue of the difference between standard and common Polish in glottodidactics. The analysis of a few randomly selected Polish as a foreign language textbooks shows various approaches to the problem. Therefore, the author concludes that there is a need to examine the role of both language varieties in teaching Polish as a foreign language.

For several years now the Polish Normalisation Committee (PKN) has been angaged in the process of introduction (and implementation) of international standards complying with the Internationsl Standard Organsation (ISO) into the set of of Polish Standards.At present, in the PKN Commission of Soil Physics, a number of such standards are being prepared (translated) -including a very comprehensive standard dealing with partiele size distribution determination in soil material-ISO 11277 [6], Some principles and requirements included in this standard differ significantly from those commonly accepted and widely in use now in numerous pedologie laboratories in Poland [7,8]. Below there are some of the most important differences: (1 ) the requirement to remove organic matter from test samples (using 30% v/v solution of H2O2), (2) the requirement to remove water soluble salts and gypsum (to electrical conductivity 0,4 dS/m), (3) sample dispersion process must be longer than 18 hours. Many other requirements, of relatively lesser importance, in many cases also do not correlate with those commonly accepted in our laboratories.

The following data were estabilished on the basis of the composition of cheese, butter and milk powder exhibited in 1976 standard deviation of the composition of these products from the Polish Standard, the level of statistical agreement of the products composition with the Polish Standards. Also calculated was a guarantee reserve ensuring statistical agreement of the composition of the exported products with Polish Standards.
Omówiono zgodność składu produkowanych w 1976 r. produktów mleczarskich. Badaniem objęto 8 rodzajów serów (solan, cheddar, edamski, podlaski, gouda, trapist, mazurski, tylżycki) z 7922 warów w 21 zakładach; 3498 partii masła z 8 zakładów i 657 partii proszku z mleka odtłuszczonego. Ustalono: a) odchylenia średniego składu serów, tj. wody, tłuszczu w suchej masie od wymagań PN oraz poziom statystycznej zgodności zawartości wody i tłuszczu w suchej masie serów z wymaganiami PN; b) odchylenia średniej zawartości wody w maśle oraz poziom statystycznej zgodności wody w maśle z wymaganiami PN; c) odchylenia średniego składu wody i tłuszczu w suchej masie proszku oraz poziom statystycznej zgodności tych składników proszku z wymaganiami PN. Wyliczono wielkość zapasu gwarancyjnego, pozwalającego na zapewnienie statystycznej zgodności składu produktów z wymaganiami PN na poziomie ufności 95%.

Introduction. Prenatal physical activity has been increasingly recommended in recent years as the fundamental condition of physiological pregnancy and birth by health promoting organizations throughout the world. Objective. To determine the influence of prenatal physical activity on the course of labour and delivery. The practical purpose was to present prenatal physical activity as an effective tool in the implementation of the new Polish standard for perinatal care. Brief description of the state of knowledge. Reviewed publications report either a positive impact or no impact of physical activity on selected parameters of labour and delivery. The most frequently cited benefits of physical exercise during pregnancy include: shorter delivery, less frequent need for anesthesia, reduced risk of operative births, a lower rate of induction of labor, amniotomy, episiotomy and perineum lacerations, and improved neonatal outcome. Conclusions. A review of the literature shows that regular prenatal physical activity can help reduce medical interventions during labour, without having negative consequences for either the mother or the foetus. It should be an important tool to implement the Polish standard for perinatal care. There is a need to promote regular prenatal physical activity among women, medical personnel, and physical education staff. Detailed instructions for designing prenatal exercise programmes should be included in the new guidelines for physical activity during pregnancy, both in Poland and abroad. To support or negate the hypothesis of the positive effects of physical activity on the course of labour and delivery, well-designed research trials should be conducted with the properly structured prenatal exercise programmes in the intervention groups.

Adaptation of the European standards has brought into the field of design a bunch of new standards which are to be implemented into design practice. In particular, our attention will be focused on the standard PN-EN ISO 5456 – where the definition, some terms and particular properties of a central projection are introduced. A comparison of the terms implemented in this standard to those that have been traditionally used throughout the decades of teaching descriptive geometry courses in Poland will be made. A critical analysis of new definitions and terms has been done.
Przystąpienie Polski do Unii Europejskiej wymusiło proces unifikacji przepisów normatywnych w niemal każdej z dziedzin aktywności człowieka, a zatem również w dziedzinie projektowania. W szczególności, tematem rozważań które poświęcono w niniejszej publikacji, są treści zawarte w normie PN-EN ISO 5456- Część 4 (2006): Rysunek techniczny – Metody rzutowania – Część 4: rzutowanie środkowe. W normie podano definicję rzutu środkowego, zawarto tabele z normatywnymi oznaczeniami poszczególnych elementów rzutowania środkowego, podano klasyfikację różnych metod odwzorowania oraz wymieniono pewne szczególne własności obrazów perspektywicznych konstruowanych za pomocą opisanych metod. W pracy podano analizę terminów i symboli stosowanych w polskojęzycznej normie do opisu obrazu perspektywicznego, a także porównano zastosowane oznaczenia do tradycyjnie używanych w teorii perspektywy w Polsce. Analizie krytycznej poddano terminologię i symbolikę, która jest wprost przeniesiona z literatury anglosaskiej, podczas gdy tradycyjnie nie jest stosowana w typowym kursie Geometrii wykreślnej wykładanej w każdej polskiej uczelni technicznej.

Purpose: The aim of this article is to assess the scale of differences between IFRS 15 and Polish GAAP in terms of revenue recognition. Methodology/approach: The methods used include studies of professional articles and legal acts, including the Polish Accounting Act, Polish Accounting Standards and relevant IAS/IFRS. Findings: The research has proven that Polish regulations can be categorised into two seg-ments. The first segment is KSR 15, which, compared to IFRS 15, contains very similar regulations regarding the general criteria for revenue recognition, including time point and measurement basis. The second segment comprises the Polish Accounting Act and KSR 3, which are based on international standards which are already superseded – IAS 11 and IAS 18, which dealt with revenue recognition over time. Practical implications: The article points out the differences between Polish and interna-tional regulation in terms of revenue recognition, which may play an important role for entities changing the basis for preparing their financial statements from Polish GAAP to IFRS. Originality: The article is the first attempt to compare the scale of similarities between the two sets of regulations in terms of revenue measurement and recognition

Investigations were carried out at timber storage sites (depots) on large-sized pine (110 pieces) and beech (130 pieces) wood from three forest districts within the territory of the Regional Directorates of the State Forests (RDSF) of Łódź, Lublin and Kraków. As a result of a comparison of both classification systems, it was proved that in the case of pine wood classified according to EU norms, the shares of the number of pieces and volume in classes B and C decreased, whereas they increased in class D when compared with Polish classification. Analogically, in the case of beech wood, a decrease in the share of the number of pieces and volume in classes A, B and D, and an increase in class C were recorded. Among the most common defects that influence the classification of both sorts of wood, open and burl knots as well as curvatures are recognised, while in the case of beech wood, shakes and galls (disease T stains) are encountered. The results of the classification determined differences in the wood value. According to the pricelists for wood standing in forest districts where the raw wood under investigation originated, it was established that the value of the pine wood classified according to the EU norm decreased by ca. 7.6% when compared with the value estimated using the Polish norm. The value of the beech wood was nearly identical in both cases, which was mainly due to the higher share of wood of class C and lower share of class D upon applying the EU standards, in comparison with the Polish classification system.

The paper presents the case study of geotechnical investigations reporting connected with expert’s opinion on undrained shear strength of organic sediments in the river valley at the north of Poland according to reinforcement methodology of c.a. 0,7 km highway embankment. Diversification of primary results caused additional research which revealed and confirmed liquid consistency of organic soils - several meters of organic and calcareous sediments - gyttja under the thin cover of peat. The main goal of the paper is a discussion on standardization of consistency of organic soils itself and additionally to point out very rare possibility of liquid consistency, finally not pointed in International Standards ISO 14688. The application of Atterberg limits in organic sediments is moot but even organic soil with water content higher than liquid limit can’t be classified and interpreted as very soft with description as soil which exudes between the fingers when squeezed in the hand. Such identification is practically impossible when it’s hard to squeeze because of gravitationally leaking through the fingers.
Artykuł przedstawia analizę przypadku, w której podjęto się weryfikacji warunków gruntowych podłoża projektowanej budowy drogi ekspresowej w północnej Polsce. Zadanie projektowe utrudniła istotna rozbieżność w modelu geologicznym i parametryzacji geotechnicznej udokumentowanych gruntów organicznych w dolinie rzecznej na odcinku ok. 700 m, uwzględniającym posadowienie mostu w centralnym odcinku doliny. Rozpoznane w podłożu torfy i namuły w stanie na granicy plastycznego i miękkoplastycznego z kolejnymi etapami weryfikacji rozszerzono w modelu geologicznym o wydzieloną niezależnie warstwę gytii. Przypisywane gytiom parametry stanu aktualizowano na miękkoplastyczny i bardzo miękkoplastyczny aż do wartości stopnia plastyczności IL>1,0 (w świetle nomenklatury bieżących standardów klasyfikacyjnych wskaźnika konsystencji IC<0,0), co świadczy o wilgotności naturalnej gruntu przekraczającej wartość procentową wilgotności granicy płynności według Atterberga. Analizę przypadku przeprowadzono dwutorowo, w pierwszej kolejności sprawdzając udokumentowane archiwalnie istotne rozbieżności. W drugim przypadku podniesiono kwestie klasyfikacyjne gruntów organicznych. Badania terenowe sondą ścinającą FVT potwierdziły ekstremalnie małe wartości wytrzymałości na ścinanie w warunkach bez odpływu, nieprzekraczające często 15 kPa. Na podstawie badań granic konsystencji wyprowadzono także normowe i/lub literaturowe współczynniki korekcyjne redukujące mierzone wartości. Współczynnik korekcyjny μ wahał się w granicach od 0,5 do 0,8 przy uśrednionej wartości μ = 0,7. Pomiary parametrów granic konsystencji wykorzystano dalej do klasyfikacji stanu gruntów na podstawie pomiarów wilgotności naturalnej.

Opis:
The classification into soil fractions found in the new Polish Standard PN-R-04033 is fully comparable- with the international classifications (FAO/USDA) in question. The following diameters were adopted as the main groups of soil fractions: stones >75 mm, gravel 75-2 mm, sand 2.0-0.05 mm, silt 0.05-0.002 mm and clay <0.002 mm. On the other hand, soil fractions classification according to the Polish Soil Science Society (PTG), including so-called fine particles (<0.02 mm), is not compatible with both the new Polish Standard and the discussed international classifications. This also refers lo the classification into textural groups according to PTG. However, the classification into textural groups according lo Polish Standard is quite similar to international classifications.
