    Opis:
    The author addresses the problem of naming the space associated with the Staszic Palace in Warsaw. She argues that along with its name, the square in front of the palace lost its both administrative and social distinctiveness and advocates for its restoration. Her analysis of the naming system, complemented by an investigation of archival sources and a reflection upon the history and cultural significance of selected parts of the palace, reveals a gap in the current naming conventions, which cover only urban areas. The article outlines an original proposal of naming typology for enclosed public places, developed in the course of the work on the selection of names for two auditoria of the Staszic Palace, which remained unnamed until 2020. Furthering the arguments that led to naming the auditoria under the author’s recommendations, she explores the connection between the placename and the meanings inscribed in the imaginary space. The theoretical background of the article has been provided by works of Edward Soja, Michel Foucault and Henri Lefebvre as well as the categories of collective memory of space (Hayden White and Frank Ankersmit) and affective heterotopy, defined by the author in her monograph on the Staszic Palace.

    Podjęta problematyka dotyczy rozważań nad tym, czy nadal istnieje potrzeba semantycznego odznaczania przestrzeni, obiektów i miejsc. Czy na pewno forma i materia muszą być wypełnione treściami, zawierać komunikaty w warstwie znaczeniowej? W świetle rozpatrywanej kształtowanej architektonicznej przestrzeni szans nakładamy wyobrażenia, interpretacje bez roszczeń do bycia jedynie słusznymi. W konfrontacji i dialogu wytracają się raz jedne, innym razem drugie właściwości przestrzeni, obiektów i miejsc, bo te pozostają zależne od czasu, także tego, w jakim znajduje się dany odbiorca.
    The research issues undertaken concern the deliberations on whether the need for semantic designation of spaces, objects and places still exists. Do the form and matter indeed have to be filled with content, contain messages in the layer of significance? In the light of the formed architectural space of opportunities considered here, we superimpose ideas and interpretations, without any claim for them to be the only right ones. In confrontation and dialogue, the properties of space, objects and places disappear alternately, as they remain dependent on time – including the one of the recipient’s location.

    Przedmiotem artykułu jest wielostronne ujęcie dialektyki ciszy i dźwięku w muzyce. Ciszę muzyczną, przejawiającą się między innymi przez pauzę, należy odróżnić zarówno od obiektywnej ciszy fizycznej (nieprzynależącej do muzyki), jak i od tak zwanej ciszy „przymuzycznej”, konstytuowanej w relacji wykonawca–odbiorca, charakterystycznej dla momentu tuż przed rozpoczęciem dzieła i tuż po jego zakończeniu. Wewnętrzna cisza dzieła muzycznego ma różne funkcje, z których na plan pierwszy wysuwa się konstrukcyjna i wyrazowa (energetyczna). Jednak cisza ta może pełnić również funkcje semantyczne i symboliczne; w wyjątkowych wypadkach mogą w oparciu o nią ukonstytuować się również Ingardenowskie jakości metafizyczne. W artykule podjęty został również problem czasoprzestrzennego charakteru muzycznej ciszy, w tym także jej istotnej roli w konstytuowaniu wrażenia głębi w muzyce. Zwieńczeniem artykułu jest krótkie rozpoznanie teologicznych i filozoficznych ujęć dialektyki muzyki i ciszy, w tym fundamentalnej dla tego problemu myśli fenomenologicznej. Egzemplifikacją podjętych interpretacji są odwołania do konkretnych koncepcji i utworów autorstwa kompozytorów dwudziestego wieku, przede wszystkim Antona Weberna, Johna Cage’a, Krzysztofa Pendereckiego, Henryka Mikołaja Góreckiego, Eugeniusza Knapika.
    The subject of the article is a multidimensional approach to the dialectics of silence and sound in music. Musical silence, manifested among others by a rest (pause), should be distinguished both from objective physical silence (which is not part of music) and from the so-called ‘music related’ silence, constituted in the ‘performer–listener,’ relation characteristic of the moment just before and directly after the composition is performed. The inner silence of a musical work has many functions, of which the most important seems to be its constructional and expressional (energetic) role. However, the inner silence of a musical work may also hold semantic and symbolic functions; in exceptional situations Ingardenian metaphysical qualities may also constitute themselves on the basis of such silence. The article also discusses the space and time nature of musical silence, including its crucial role in constituting an impression of depth in music. The article concludes with a short examination of some theological and philosophical approaches to the dialectics of music and silence, including the fundamental treatment of the problem in the phenomenological thought. References to specific concepts and compositions by 20th-century composers (Anton Webern, John Cage, Krzysztof Penderecki, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Eugeniusz Knapik, and others) exemplify the discussed interpretations.

    Artykuł przynosi analizę werbalno-semantycznych środków wcielenia semantyki futuralnej w opowieści Kółko autorstwa jednego z przedstawicieli literatury postmodernizmu – Mychała Welera. Autorka opisuje specyficzne sposoby zbudowania w powieści linii fabularnej, prowokującej semantykę futuralną. Autorka akcentuje właściwości takie jak: fragmentaryczne wyznaczenie przestrzeni, nieobecność imienia u bohaterów, temporalna trajektoria przeistoczenia obiektu. Jeśli chodzi o semantykę futuralną, jak podkreśla autorka, szczególnie aktualizuje się siema prognoza. Autorka artykułu wyznacza również współzależność semantyki futuralnej z semantyką wirtualnego świata i znaczenie tej współzależności dla ujawnienia ideowego zamysłu autora. Polega on na tym, że nieświątobliwe działania, zniekształcona interpretacja ludzkich wartości, zignorowanie ich w przeszłości i teraźniejszości nieuchronnie pozbawiają człowieka przyszłości. Idea ta wpisuje się do postmodernistycznego paradygmatu kulturowego wraz z charakterystyczną dla niego neutralizacją zasięgów przeszłości, terażniejszości i przyszłości w filozoficznym i lingwistycznym rozumieniu kategorii czasu.
    The article deals with verbal and semantic means of embodying futural semantics in the story Ring one of the representatives of postmodern literature – Mikhail Veller. The author reveals special ways of presenting the storyline, provoking futural semantics. Particular attention is paid to such features as the fragmentation of the image of space, the lack of a name for the pt, the temporal pathway of the reincarnation of the object. In the composition of the spectrum of futural semantics, the seme forecast is especially activated. In addition, the correlation of futural semantics and the semantics of possible worlds is described and the value of this ratio for revealing the author's ideological intent. It consists in the fact that unrighteous actions, a distorted interpretation of human values as well as ignoring them in the past and present inevitably deprive a person of the future. This idea fits into the postmodern cultural paradigm, which is characterized by the neutralization of the boundaries of the past, present and future in the philosophical and linguistic apprehension.

    У статті на прикладі двох держав – Республіки Туреччина та Республіки Індія – розглянуто форми і способи здійснення перетворень у політиці пам’яті в останні десятиліття, виявлено їх напрями, проаналізовано позитивний і негативний вплив на соціум. Показано, що політика історичної пам’яті жорстко корелює з політичним дискурсом країни, однак дедалі більше реагує на зовнішні виклики. Зміни в політиці пам’яті означають і зміни в семантичній організації простору країни. Водночас широкий політико-культурний і, відповідно, меморіальний плюралізм не є гарантією соціальної злагоди. Встановлено важливі складники досвіду здійснення політики пам’яті в зазначених країнах, які можуть бути враховані в розбудові відповідного напряму державної політики України.
    In the article on the example of two states, the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of India, the forms and methods of implementing the changes in the policy of memory in recent decades have beenexamined, their directions have been revealed, their positive and negative impact on society has been analyzed. It is shown that the policy of historical memory strongly correlates with the politicaldiscourse of the country, but increasingly responds to external challenges. Changes in the policy of memory mean changes in the semantic organization of the country’s space. At the same time, broadpolitical, cultural and, accordingly, memorial pluralism is not a guarantee of social harmony. Important components of the experience of implementing the policy of memory in these countries have been established, they can be taken into account in the development of the corresponding direction of the state policy of Ukraine.

    Opis:
    Communication of architecture is a multi-dimensional phenomenon, with elements of message decoded only by a limited group of experts, and the general message understood by the vast audience. These two categories are compared within the paper to semantic and semiotic message systems, derived from dialectic interpretation of meaning, as a function of understanding and consciousness. Further investigation of verbal and non-verbal communication leads to recognition of similarities with architectural discipline. Ability of meaning transmission through space is then analysed in context of limita¬tions of human perception and understanding. Formal discursive communicative methods of architecture are described as semantic, whereas non-formal communication are described as semiotic, along with phenomena of grammar and genius loci. This leads to description of both ability and limitations of spatial communication.
    Przekaz architektoniczny jest zjawiskiem wielowymiarowym, z pewnymi elementami przekazu czytelnymi wyłącznie dla ograniczonej grupy specjalistów i ogólnym przekazem rozumianym przez ogół odbiorców. Te dwie kategorie odniesiono w artykule do semantycznego oraz semiotycznego systemu przekazu. Formalne, dyskursywne metody komunikatywne architektury są opisane jako semantyczne, podczas gdy metody nieformalne opisywane są jako semiotyczne, wraz z aspektami gramatyki i genius loci. Te dwie metody komunikacji rozumiane są jako funkcje rozumienia oraz świadomości, wywodzące się z dialektycznej interpretacji znaczenia. Dalsze badanie komunikacji werbalnej i niewerbalnej przeprowadzone w artykule prowadzi do odkrycia podobieństw z architekturą. Zdolność do rozumienia przekazu za pomocą przestrzeni jest następnie analizowana w kontekście ograniczeń ludzkiej percepcji i rozumienia. Analiza ta prowadzi do opisu zarówno potencjału jak i ograniczeń przekazu przestrzennego.
