W artykule przedstawiono propozycję katalogu rodzajów elementów i układów, z których budowane są systemy sterowania ruchem kolejowym. Potrzeba opracowania aktualnego katalogu wynika z wielu dyskusji prowadzonych w kontekście procedur certyfikacji typu dla urządzeń srk, gdzie niedokładne definicje lub ich brak powodują niejednoznaczność w interpretacji wymagań dla poszczególnych rodzajów urządzeń. Impulsem dla prac nad przedmiotowym katalogiem jest również rozwój systemów srk zwłaszcza w kierunku urządzeń pokładowych jak również w zakresie automatyzacji prowadzenia pociągu. Autorzy w artykule przedstawiają listę elementów i układów oraz ich definicje. Katalog jest uzupełniony opisem sposobów kategoryzacji, które mogą być pomocne przy poszukiwaniu cech wspólnych rozwiązań.
The article presents proposals of the current catalogue for types of elements and systems from which railway traffic control systems are built. The necesity to develop the current catalogue results from many discussions conducted in the context of type certification procedures for signalling devices where imprecise definitions or lack of them cause ambiguity in the interpretation of requirements for individual types of equipment. The impetus for work on this catalogue is also the development of signalling systems in the direction of development of on-board equipment as well as in the direction of automation of train driving. In the article the authors present a list of elements and systems and their definitions. The supplement contains a list of different categorizations of the catalogue items.

Opis:
Starting from logical structures of classical and quantum mechanics we reconstruct the logic of so-called no-signaling theories, where the correlations among subsystems of a composite system are restricted only by a simplest form of causality forbidding an instantaneous communication. Although such theories are, as it seems, irrelevant for the description of physical reality, they are helpful in understanding the relevance of quantum mechanics. The logical structure of each theory has an epistemological flavor, as it is based on analysis of possible results of experiments. In this note we emphasize that not only logical structures of classical, quantum and no-signaling theory may be treated on the same ground but it is also possible to give to all of them a common ontological basis by constructing a “phase space” in all cases. In non-classical cases the phase space is not a set, as in classical theory, but a more general object obtained by means of category theory, but conceptually it plays the same role as the phase space in classical physics.

Sygnalizator dźwiękowy montowany na przejściach dla pieszych ma ułatwiać osobom z upośledzonym narządem wzroku bezpieczne korzystanie z przejść. Emitowany sygnał dźwiękowy musi być słyszalny. Gdy zmniejsza się poziom hałasu komunikacyjnego, sygnalizator może stać się dla okolicznych mieszkańców źródłem dokuczliwego hałasu. W CIOP-PIB opracowano jego nowy model, zaprezentowany w niniejszym artykule wraz z opisem uwzględniającym efekt maskowania sygnału przez hałas tła oraz badania laboratoryjne i terenowe związane z jego działaniem.
Audible pedestrian signalling device installed at pedestrian crossings is supposed to advise blind people whether it is safe to safely cross the street. The signal it emits should be clearly audible. Decrease in level of the traffic noise may render audible pedestrian signal too loud to inhabitants living nearby. New model of adaptive audible pedestrian signalling device, constructed in CIOP-PIB, has been presented in the article along with the description of its ability to cloak sign in background noise, and laboratory and field tests related to its operation.

DNA is the universal primary target for ionizing radiation; however, the cellular response is highly diversified not only by differential DNA repair ability. The monitoring system for the ionizing radiation-inflicted DNA damage consists of 3 apparently independently acting enzymes which are activated by DNA breaks: two protein kinases, Atm (ataxia telangiectasia mutated) and DNA-PK (DNA-dependent protein kinase) and a poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase, PARP-1. These 3 enzymes are the source of alarm signals, which affect to various extents DNA repair, progression through the cell cycle and eventually the pathway to cell death. Their functions probably are partly over-lapping. On the side of DNA repair their role consists in recruiting and/or activating the repair enzymes, as well as preventing illegitimate recombination of the damaged sites. A large part of the nuclear signalling pathway, including the integrating role of Tp53 has been revealed. Two main signalling pathways start at the plasma membrane: the MAPK/ERK (mitogen and extracellular signal regulated protein kinase family) "survival pathway" and the SAPK/JNK (stress-activated protein kinase/c-Jun N-terminal kinase) "cell death pathway". The balance between them is likely to determine the cell’s fate. When DNA break rejoining is impaired, the cell is unconditionally radiation sensitive. The fate of a repair-competent cell is determined by the time factor: the cell cycle arrest should be long enough to ensure the completion of repair. Incomplete repair or misrepair may be tolerated, when generation of the death signal is prevented. So, the character and timing of the signals are, to a large part, responsible for the cellular intrinsic radiation sensitivity and depend on the characteristics of the cellular signalling web.

W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie poziomów szczegółowości modelu LOD (ang. Levels of Definition) wykonanego w technologii BIM (ang. Building Information Modeling) w aspekcie projektowania infrastruktury systemu sterowania ruchem kolejowym (srk). Przeprowadzono analizę struktury projektu systemu srk oraz podział projektu na etapy, do których należy dopasować łaściwy zakres informacji zawartej w modelu. Zaproponowano podział na sześć poziomów szczegółowości graficznej modelu LOGD oraz nasycenia modelu informacją niegraficzną LOMI, opisując wymagania dla każdego poziomu. Podkreślono różnicę między poziomem szczegółowości modelu a poziomem szczegółowości wizualizacji danych z modelu, dobieranej w zależności od wymagań i potrzeb dla danego etapu projektu. Każdy obiekt, raz zdefiniowany w bazie danych, może być wizualizowany w różny sposób, na dowolnym poziomie szczegółowości. Zaproponowany standard zilustrowano przykładami różnych typów obiektów srk – urządzeń zewnętrznych i wewnętrznych oraz sieci kablowej.
In the article the Levels of Definition (LOD) made in BIM (Building Information Modelling) technology, in the aspect of the application of the railway signalling have been presented. The structure of the signalling system project has been analysed and the division of the project into stages to which the appropriate scope of information contained in the model should be adjusted has been executed. The division into six levels of graphical development/detail (LOGD) and six levels of model information (LOMI), describing the requirements for each level have been proposed. The difference between detailed models and detailed details of visualization of data from the model has been emphasized, adjusting depending on the needs and needs for the needs of a specific project. Each object, once specified in the database, can be visualized in different ways, at any level of detail. The used standard has been illustrated with examples of various types of railway traffic control devices - external devices, internal devices and cable networks.

Signalling concerns the transfer of information from one body, a source, to another, a receiver in order to stimulate activity. The problem arises with the word information. It is defined as what is transferred in a sequence of things, say between people, e.g. words or signs. The idea of signalling between people is then obvious but it is not clear in cell biology. Information transfer, signalling, is required for the organisation of all cellular activity but we must ask what is transferred and how is it transmitted and received? Sometimes it is assumed that all information, i.e. organisation in a cell, is represented in the DNA sequence. This is incorrect. We shall show that the environment is a second source of information concerning material and energy. The receiving party from both DNA and the environment is general metabolism. The metabolism then signals back and sends information to both DNA and uptake from the environment. Even then energy is needed with machinery to send out all signals. This paper examines the way signalling evolved from prokaryotes through to man. In this process the environmental information received increased to the extent that finally the brain is a phenotypic as much as a genotypic organ within a whole organism. By phenotypic we mean it is organised by and interactive with information from the environment.

Relay-based railway signalling systems are constructed with safety relays, which are produced by the main signalling manufacturers. Such safety relays are hard to find on the market. Therefore signalling contractors frequently use small-sized, easily-available relays of the SF4 and H-464 type, which conform with the UIC736 normative requirements. The paper presents safety relays of the H-464 type as well as three-phase switch point control circuits, which are based on such relays cooperating with switch point transducers and utilized in centralised mechanical signalling systems with electrical switch-over of the switch points.

The paper deals with new software ensuring the ride of some interdependent tram vehicles in accordance with the criterion of the minimum energy consumption. All trams have been driven by vectorially controlled and field oriented three-phase induction motors supplied from the modern inverters. First of all, the influence of light signalling on the coordinated energy-saving traffic of trams has been taken into consideration. In one example there was shown the possible case for three trams ride free from the possibility of collisions. Here the energy savings were the biggest. Every time it is very difficult to ensure the green light for every tram vehicle at the same crossing. There were analysed two variants of disturbances caused by the light signalling: additional short and long tram stop. In the instance of large time lags of the traffic, the ride delay must be liquidated during the run between some succeeding stops.

W artykule przedstawiono analizę porównawczą oprogramowania BIM (programów Revit Architecture i ArchiCAD) w kontekście zastosowania w projektowaniu systemów srk, z odniesieniem do programu AutoCAD. Wskazano na możliwości oraz ograniczenia związane z wprowadzeniem technologii BIM w projektowaniu systemów kolejowych w Polsce. W celu dokonania weryfikacji i sformułowania praktycznych wniosków z porównania narzędzi wykonano model mijanki wraz z urządzeniami srk (sygnalizatorami, napędami zwrotnicowymi, czujnikami koła). Opisano strukturę obiektów i tworzonych na ich bazie modeli w każdym z analizowanych programów. Do analizy porównawczej wybrano kryteria istotne w projektowaniu, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem projektowania systemów kolejowych. Każde z kryteriów poddano weryfikacji i oceniono. Analiza wykazała przewagę technologii BIM nad technologią CAD w większości aspektów. Zwrócono jednak uwagę na działania, jakie należy dopiero podjąć w celu faktycznego wdrożenia BIM w projektowaniu systemów kolejowych w Polsce.
The article presents a comparative analysis of BIM software (Revit Architecture and ArchiCAD) in the context of its application in the design of signalling systems, with reference to AutoCAD. The possibilities and limitations related to the introduction of BIM technology in the design of railway systems in Poland were indicated. In order to verify and formulate practical conclusions from the comparison of tools, a passing model was made together with signalling devices (signals, point machines, wheel sensors). The structure of the objects and the models based on them in each of the analysed programs were described. Criteria important in design were selected for the comparative analysis, with particular emphasis on the design of railway systems. Each of the criteria was verified and assessed. The analysis showed the advantage of BIM technology over CAD technology in most aspects. However, attention was drawn to the actions that still need to be taken in order to actually implement BIM in the design of railway systems in Poland.

The majority of patients are diagnosed with locally advanced or metastatic disease, and curative surgery is rarely an option. Over the recent years, an increase in the demand for passenger and freight rail transport services has been observed. This is mainly owing to the policy objectives related to the use eco-friendly means of transport and the investment causing the quality of rail services to grow. Along with the growing demand for rail transport, a problem of railway capacity utilisation has emerged. Although the implementation of the new Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system increases the safety level, but under some scenarios, it may decrease the headways between trains. At the same time, the ATP systems enables train positioning based on odometry calculation and reporting it to the trackside system. This paper proposes a solution that involves application of virtual block sections which use the train position reporting feature of the ATP system for the determination of non-occupancy. Virtual blocks can successfully reduce headways in railway lines without increasing the number of trackside signalling devices. The capacity assessment proposed under the study was performed to calculate the average headway depending on the signalling system configuration.

Opis:
Endogenous peptide antibiotics are known as evolutionarily old components of innate immunity. Due to interaction with cell membrane these peptides cause permeabilization of the membrane and lysis of invading microbes. However, some studies proved that antimicrobial peptides are universal multifunctional molecules and their functions extend far beyond simple antibiotics. In this review we present an overview of the general mechanism of action of antimicrobial peptides and discuss some of their additional properties, like antitumour activity, mitogenic activity, role in signal transduction pathways and adaptive immune response.

Th e automatic line block system may be constructed as a chain of autonomous distributed set of functional blocks located along a railway line section, interlocked by the data transmission subsystem and controlled from two ends of the section. Thus, a certain possibility of simultaneously issued contradictory commands creating conflicts during their execution to be settled by a functional block controlled by them particularly while the data transmission subsystem failure occurs have to be considered. Testing of automatic line block system proper functioning in a range of reaction to contradictory commands and examples of typical conflicts and general rules of solving them are discussed in the paper.

Although the implementation of a new Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system increases the safety level, it also exerts some impact on the blocking time in block sections, and consequently, on the headway between trains. At the same time, ATP systems introduce a train positioning system based on odometry calculation and reporting back to the trackside system. This paper describes the concept of using virtual blocks based on train position reporting in the ATP system for purposes of non-occupancy determination. Virtual blocks can be used to reduce headways on railway lines without increasing the number of trackside signalling devices. Preliminary capacity assessment was performed to calculate the average headway depending on the signalling system with reference to a case study.

W artykule przedstawiono przegląd aktualnych trendów w zakresie postępującej modularyzacji i standaryzacji architektury systemów kierowania i sterowania ruchem kolejowym. Podział systemów komputerowych na standardowe komponenty jest procesem trwającym od wielu dekad. Przykładem systemu zgodnego z tym podejściem jest ERTMS/ETCS, a ostatnio rozszerza się on na wiele innych systemów kierowania i sterowania ruchem kolejowym, w tym systemy zależnościowe oraz nadrzędne. Podejmowane są w tym celu kolejne ponadnarodowe inicjatywy standaryzacyjne takie jak: EULYNX, RCA, smartrail 4.0 oraz OCORA. W artykule przedstawiono założenia każdej z nich oraz istotne korzyści płynące z ich wdrożenia, np. standaryzacja interfejsów, zwiększenie wymienności sprzętu i oprogramowania oraz efektywne projektowanie i zarządzenie systemem. Podano również przykłady zastosowania standardowych modułów i interfejsów w warunkach polskich (rmCBTC, standardowe interfejsy BRIK).
The article presents an overview of the current trends in the field of progressive modularization and standardization of the architecture of railway signalling, command and control systems. Modularization of computer systems into standard components has been a decades-long process. An example of a system compatible with this approach is ERTMS / ETCS, and has recently been extender to many other rail command and control systems, including interlocking and train management systems. For this purpose, further transnational standardization initiatives are taken, such as: EULYNX, RCA, smart-rail 4.0 and OCORA. The article presents the assumptions of each of them and the significant benefits of their implementation, e.g. interface standardization, increasing the interchangeability of hardware and software, and effective design and management of the system. Examples of the use of standard modules and interfaces in Polish conditions (rmCBTC, standard interfaces BRIK) are also given.

Coraz częściej do stwierdzania niezajętości toru stosowane są urządzenia licznikowe, których zasadniczymi elementami są czujniki koła. Równocześnie coraz bardziej złożony tabor kolejowy, szczególnie pojazdy trakcyjne, stanowią źródło potencjalnych zakłóceń mogących oddziaływać na pracę takich urządzeń detekcji taboru. W procesie dopuszczania nowych pojazdów szynowych do eksploatacji prowadzona jest więc weryfikacja ich kompatybilności elektromagnetycznej (EMC) ze stosowanymi urządzeniami sterowania ruchem kolejowym, zwłaszcza z systemami stwierdzania niezajętości toru. Jednym z elementów prowadzonych badań jest ocena zakłócających pól magnetycznych wytwarzanych przez tabor. Dla ujednolicenia i uproszczenia metod pomiaru takich zakłóceń prowadzono prace nad normą EN 50238 i opracowano specyfikację techniczną TS 50238-3. Specyfikacja ta określa jednolitą metodę pomiarową. Stosowanie jej wymaga sprawdzenia, czy może ona zastąpić różne sposoby pomiaru stosowane w poszczególnych krajach europejskich. W tym celu realizowany jest europejski projekt badawczy, finansowany ze środków europejskiej sieci transportowej TEN-T w ramach projektu mającego ułatwić i przyspieszyć wprowadzanie europejskiego systemu zarządzania ruchem kolejowym – ERTMS. Jedna z dziewięciu kampanii pomiarowych zaplanowanych w ramach projektu przeprowadzona została w Polsce. Po rozwinięciu opisanego powyżej wprowadzenia, w artykule omówiono cechy wykorzystywanej, specjalistycznej aparatury pomiarowej, zgodnej ze specyfikacją TS 50238-3. Przedstawiono także przebieg i wyniki polskiej kampanii pomiarowej oraz docelowe przeznaczenie rezultatów całego projektu.
Axle counters are more and more often applied in train detection systems. The wheel sensor is a main part of each axle counter system. In parallel, more and more complex railway vehicles, especially traction ones, are a potential source of interferences influencing the operation of these train detection systems. It is the reason to verify the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) between the signalling equipment, particularly train detection systems, and new vehicles in the process of obtaining the permission for their exploitation. The measurement of interfering magnetic fields generated by vehicles is one of tests to be carried out. For the simplification and unification purpose of the applied interference test methods the EN 50236 standard and TS 60238-3 technical specification have been developed. The specification defines unified testing procedures. However, it is necessary to verify if it may replace different testing methods used in particular European states. It is the goal of the European research project financed from the TEN-T network resources. This project is part of the larger project aiming to facilitate and speed up the ERTMS system deployment. One of nine measurement campaigns planned in the frame of this project was conducted in Poland. After a detailed description of the introduction shortly presented above, the specialized measurement equipment applied in accordance with the TS 50238-3 is presented in the paper. The Polish measurement campaign course and results as well as the final purpose of the whole project achievements are also included in the paper.

This paper focuses on monetary policy transparency. Central banks’ practice in the field of communication, especially while signalling their intentions, is not reflected in most known transparency measures. The following paper presents a comparison of the best-known transparency indices and offers an extension to them that focuses on the forward-lookingness of the central bank. A more elaborate approach to signalling intentions is not covered by transparency measures developed in the pre-crisis period. Thus the purpose of this paper is methodological: developing extended transparency measures. Additionally, the application of these extensions is presented. The empirical part of the research covers the Czech Republic and Poland.

Novelty of this paper consists in simultaneous analysis of the traffic of some tram vehicles taking into consideration the criterion of the electric energy consumption minimum. Problems of traffic disturbances have been also included. First of all the influence of the light signalling at the crossing has been analysed to reduce the energy use caused by long stops forcing necessity of quicker subsequent ride to liquidate delay in relation to the time-table. Within the elaborated methodology, the tram route is divided into parts in keeping with different motion resistances for individual route fragments. Such simulation is more real and precise for tram ride conditions in the city. The paper deals with modernized trams driven by DC series motors supplied from modern choppers. For the stage of the vehicle running with the constant speed, the best choice of the value of the field-weakening coefficient can increase the motor efficiency.

Nawiązano do prac statutowych prowadzonych w Instytucie Łączności. Scharakteryzowano mechanizm transportowy aplikacji APM, stanowiący uniwersalne rozszerzenie protokołu części użytkownika ISDN (ISUP) systemu sygnalizacji CCITT nr 7 (SS7). Opisano zasady działania mechanizmu, umożliwiające przesyłanie w wiadomościach protokołu ISUP informacji sygnalizacyjnych dotyczących aplikacji, zaimplementowanych w centralach publicznych sieci ISDN, bez konieczności naruszania struktury tego protokołu. Podano przykłady standardowych zastosowań mechanizmu APM (wg standardów opracowanych przez ITU-T i ETSI). Wskazano, że mechanizm APM znajduje zastosowanie zarówno w dotychczasowych wąskopasmowych sieciach ISDN (N-ISDN), jak i w szerokopasmowych sieciach ISDN (B-ISDN) oraz w sieciach nowej generacji, złożonych z sieci lokalnych i szerokopasmowej sieci szkieletowej, wykorzystującej różne techniki transmisji (ATM/IP/...).
Statutory projects developed by the National Institute of Telecommunications have been referred to. The transport mechanism of the APM application that represents an universal extension of the ISDN (ISUP) user part protocol of the CCITT No 7 (SS7) signalling system has been characterised. The operational principles of the mechanism that enable it for the signalling information concerning the applications implemented in the ISDN network public exchanges to be transmitted in the ISUP protocol messages without having to disturb the structure of such protocol. Some standard applications of the APM mechanism (according to the standards developed by ITU-T and ETSI) have been shown. It has been pointed out that the APM mechanism can be employed both in the existing ISDN (N-ISDN) narrow-band networks and in the ISDN (B-ISDN) broadband networks as well as in the new generation networks composed of local networks and a broadband backbone network where various (ATM/IP/... ) transmission techniques are applied.

Opis:
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is produced predominantly in plant cells during photosynthesis and photorespiration, and to a lesser extent, in respiration processes. It is the most stable of the so-called reactive oxygen species (ROS), and therefore plays a crucial role as a signalling molecule in various physiological processes. Intra- and intercellular levels of H2O2 increase during environmental stresses. Hydrogen peroxide interacts with thiol-containing proteins and activates different signalling pathways as well as transcription factors, which in turn regulate gene expression and cell-cycle processes. Genetic systems controlling cellular redox homeostasis and H2O2 signalling are discussed. In addition to photosynthetic and respiratory metabolism, the extracellular matrix (ECM) plays an important role in the generation of H2O2, which regulates plant growth, development, acclimatory and defence responses. During various environmental stresses the highest levels of H2O2 are observed in the leaf veins. Most of our knowledge about H2O2 in plants has been obtained from obligate C3 plants. The potential role of H2O2 in the photosynthetic mode of carbon assimilation, such as C4 metabolism and CAM (Crassulacean acid metabolism) is discussed. We speculate that early in the evolution of oxygenic photosynthesis on Earth, H2O2 could have been involved in the evolution of modern photosystem II.

Within recent years the percentage of students in relation to the total population of young adults has been increasing in Poland. In search of the psychological consequences of this situation a study has been conducted on the relation between the level of activity of students and both the objective and subjective indicators of their effectiveness and the level of autotelism/calculation of the initiated activities. The study in question has been performed among a group of 473 students of the University of Silesia, and the results thereof indicate differences between the non-active, averagely active and above-averagely active students in the scope of grade point averages, the amount of granted scholarships, subjectively perceived attractiveness for colleagues as well as for the potential employer, the level of identity integration and the position in group hierarchy. The theoretical concept for analyses is constituted by the concept of emerging adulthood, the evolutionary approach and the concept of career capital.

Do kompleksowej ochrony przeciwpożarowej w budynkach, gdzie wykorzystuje się serwerownie jako środek gaszenia pożaru, stosuje się system gaszenia gazem (SGG). Wtedy środek gaśniczy (gaz) należy przechowywać w miejscu, które określone jest przez opracowany scenariusz pożarowy. Wszystkie czynności mają na celu ugaszenie pożaru już w fazie początkowej. Centrala sygnalizacji pożaru (CSP) otrzymuje informację o pożarze z grupy czujek zlokalizowanych w ochranianym pomieszczeniu i jednocześnie wysyła powiadomienie do Państwowej Straży Pożarnej (PSP). Centrala podrzędna uruchamia samoczynnie proces gaszenia gazem. Dzięki wykorzystaniu takiego procesu powiadamiania i gaszenia pożaru powstaje system nadmiarowy. Powoduje to zwiększenie niezawodności systemu sygnalizacji pożaru (SSP), który jest odpowiedzialny za bezpieczeństwo w budynku.
Fire protection of server rooms and data processing centres, located in public buildings, uses fire extinguishing equipment known as fixed gas fire extinguishing devices (SUG-G). The extinguishing medium (gas in tanks) should be stored at a location indicated in the fire scenario and in the technical contractor project for SUG-G. SUG-G is intended to extinguish a fire in its initial stages and to prevent fire spreading. The fire signalling central station (CSP) receives a fire signal from a group of sensors located in the protected premise and notifies the Fire Brigade (PS), whilst the fire extinguishing control room automatically starts the gas extinguishing process. Such use of a signalling and extinguishing system results in a redundant system. This improves reliability of the fire signalling system (SSP), which is responsible for safety inside the building.

The paper reviews selected examples of the bystander effect, such as clonogenic survival decrease, chromosomal aberrations and mutations. The similarities and differences between the biological effects in directly targeted and bystander cells are briefly discussed. Also reviewed are the experimental data which support the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS), especially *O2-, as mediators of the bystander effect. Endogenously generated ROS, due to activation of NAD(P)H oxidases, play a key role in the induction of DNA damage in bystander cells. All the observed effects in bystander cells, such as alterations in gene expression patterns, chromosomal aberrations, sister chromatid exchanges, mutations, genome instability, and neoplastic transformation are the consequence of DNA damage.

Istotnym rysem ewolucji współczesnego ładu akademickiego jest odejście od kultury zaufania na rzecz kultury audytu z jej centralną kategorią rozliczalności. Celem artykułu jest przedyskutowanie problemów związanych z rozliczalnością w kontekście ekonomii informacji. W artykule zastosowano metodę przeglądu literatury z zakresu asymetrii informacji, mechanizmów sygnalizowania i screeningu oraz analizę dedukcyjną. Wykazano, że specyfika pracy akademickiej wiążę się z istotną asymetrią informacji, która rodzi szereg wyzwań wobec zarządzania kadrą naukowo-dydaktyczną. Metody sygnalizowania i screeningu stosowane w relacjach zatrudnienia w biznesie i adekwatne do kultury audytu mogą napotkać trudności w zastosowaniu na uczelniach, w związku ze specyfiką pracy akademików, która nosi znamiona tzw. produktu zaufania. A change can be observed in contemporary academic governance – from a trust-based culture towards the audit culture based on accountability. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the problems of such accountability from the economics-of-information perspective. The approach of the article is founded on a review of the most relevant contributions in the area of information asymmetry, signalling and screening and on the analysis based on deductive reasoning. The main finding of the paper is that asymmetrical information embodied in academic work challenges the management of academic staff. Signalling and screening methods, which are popular in business and relevant for the audit culture in the case of academic environment, face important obstacles. This is due to the specificity of work of academic professionals, which is in fact a credence good. It is also predicted that the pressure towards accountability could be used for redistribution of resources in favour of privileged groups of academic staff; privileged in the sense of easiness of measurement and signalling of research achievements. null The creation of the English-language version of these publications is fi nanced in the framework of contract No. 607/P-DUN/2018 by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education committed to activities aimed at the promotion of education.

W artykule podjęto próbę określenia zakresu ewentualnego zastosowania metod oceny niezawodności człowieka do systemów stosowanych w kolejnictwie. Omówiono podstawowe elementy analizy niezawodności człowieka i przedstawiono charakterystykę wybranych metod wykorzystywanych w tym celu. W podsumowaniu dokonano próby uzasadnienia celowości zmiany dotychczasowej zasady bezwzględnego priorytetu decyzji człowieka nad poleceniami wypracowanymi przez systemy srk. Dotyczy to szczególnie sytuacji awaryjnych.
The human reliability is a factor of great importance for the safe operation of complex technical systems, such as the modern railway signalling equipment and systems, in which an individual is one of elements in processes performed by these systems. The article attempts to define the human reliability assessment possible application in railway signalling systems. The basic human reliability analysis elements and characteristics of selected methods applied for this purpose are discussed. The attempt at justification for reasonableness of the current rule change, which requires the absolute priority of the human decision over the orders worked out by the signalling system is given in the summary. Such a change would be particularly applicable to the degraded mode states.

Niniejszy artykuł opisuje problematykę certyfikacji interfejsów w świetle obowiązujących regulacji prawnych na przykładzie interfejsów związanych z podsystemem sterowanie – urządzenia przytorowe. W opracowaniu umiejscowiono w systemie kolei podsystem sterowanie oraz jego interfejsy. Przedstawiono zagadnienia formalne związane z certyfikacją interfejsów oraz podstawę prawną do realizacji procesu. Na potrzeby artykułu dokonano podziału na certyfikację interfejsów w ramach certyfikacji zgodności typu i zgodności z typem oraz certyfikację interfejsów w kontekście interoperacyjności. Omówiono genezę, wymagania, zakres sprawdzeń i badań, kompetencje jednostek dokonujących certyfikacji oraz przypadki braku precyzyjnych wytycznych zauważonych w dokumentach normatywnych. Przedstawiono także propozycję zmian i uzupełnień w dostępnych aktach prawnych.
This article presents the issue of interfaces certification in the light of the applicable legal regulations on the example of interfaces related to the control- command and signalling subsystem - track-side equipment. In this study, the control-command subsystem and its interfaces are located in the railway system. Formal issues related to the certification of interfaces and the legal basis for the process implementation are presented. For the purpose of the article, a distinction between the certification of interfaces under type-certification and type conformity and certification of interfaces in the context of interoperability has been made. The genesis, requirements, scope of tests and inspections, competences of certification bodies and cases of lack of precise guidelines noted in normative documents are discussed. The amendments and additions to the available legislation are also proposed.

This article is dedicated to sound signalling in the history as one of the ways of non-verbal communication of a community. Due to the extensiveness of the subject matter, the author significantly narrowed down the analysis. She based her description on word formation issues rather than phraseological units, metaphorisations. She endeavoured to demonstrate that the point of view is also important in descriptions of phenomena bordering on language and culture. Her interests include word-formation nests of three instrument names: a bell, a trumpet, and a drum. The analysis concentrated on three fundamental functions of the enumerated instruments, functions displayed by word-formation devices: announcing, publicising information; summoning, gathering, calling people; excluding from the community. The material was collected from old and historical dictionaries, their corpora and files.

Artykuł prezentuje problem naukowy, jakim jest ergonomiczna ocena procedur obsługi urządzeń sygnalizacyjnych i związanych z nimi urządzeń sterowniczych. Kluczowym zagadnieniem w procesie przepływu informacji pomiędzy urządzeniami sygnalizacyjnymi, a operatorem jest tzw. kompatybilność, tj. jednoznaczna interpretacja sygnałów przekazywanych (zwykle wizualnie) operatorowi w umownym kodzie (np. cyfr, liczb, liter, lub tzw. piktogramów). W przypadku maszyn rolniczych jednoznaczna interpretacja sygnałów jest utrudniona, ponieważ sygnały przekazujące informację tego samego rodzaju (np. o prędkości jazdy) kodowane są w różny sposób. Problem operatora polega na tym, że obsługuje różne maszyny rolnicze, w których te same czynności sygnalizowane są w różny sposób. Prowadzić to może nie tylko do pomyłek, ale także powoduje niepotrzebne obciążenie informacyjne operatorów. Poruszony w artykule problem polega na wykazaniu różnic w kodach przekazu informacji, a także w procedurach obsługi wybranych trzech maszyn rolniczych (sieczkarnia Claas Jaguar - model 900, opryskiwacz MAC - modele 4000-5000S oraz kombajn zbożowy Claas Lexion - modele 410-460) oraz wstępnej, ergonomicznej ocenie przekazu informacji na tych maszynach.
The article presents a scientific issue, that is an ergonomic assessment of operational procedures of signalling devices and controlling devices related to them. Compatibility, i.e. clear interpretation of signals transferred (usually by visual means) to the operator in a conventional code (e.g. digits, numbers, letters or the so-called pictograms) is a key issue in the process of information flow between signalling devices and an operator. In case of agricultural machines, explicit interpretation of signals is impeded since signals that transfer information of the same type (e.g. on the speed of driving) are coded in a varied manner. The operator's problem is that he operates different agricultural machines, in which the same operations are signalled in a different manner. It may lead no only to mistakes but also causes unnecessary information loading for operators. The issue, undertaken in this article consists in proving differences in codes of transferring information and also in procedures of operation of the selected agricultural machines (Class Jaguar-model 900 chaff-cutter, MAC sprayer - models 4000-5000S and Class Lexion combine harvester - models 410-460) and initial, ergonomic assessment of information transfer on these machines.

Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na procesy adaptacyjne struktury sieci inteligentnej do świadczenia usług dodatkowych przez operatorów sieci komórkowych (koncepcja CAMEL).
The paper describes directions of intelligent networks evolution. The analysis is based on the latest issues of standardization documents defining the Capability Set 2 and contains proposals of solutions offered by suppliers. The main adaptation trends of IN to mobile networks are underlined and an example of implementation of IN functionality in mobile network based on ETSI CAMEL standard is given.

Systemy sterowania ruchem między poszczególnymi gałęziami transportu różnią się bardzo znacząco. W transporcie drogowym sterowanie opiera się na przekazywaniu kierowcom sugestii właściwego zachowania, w zasadzie bez kontroli ich bieżącego postępowania (przykładem może być wyświetlanie sygnału zezwalającego na wjazd na skrzyżowanie nawet, gdy jest ono całkowicie zastawione pojazdami). W transporcie szynowym osoba prowadząca pojazd ma z kolei dużo mniejszy wpływ na ruch pojazdu - najczęściej tor jazdy jest narzucony, regulacji podlega jedynie prędkość przemieszczania. Na pograniczu tych systemów znajduje się miejski transport zbiorowy - do którego należą zarówno pojazdy drogowe, jak i szynowe.

Railway line capacity is growing in importance as a criterion for the assessment of railroad infrastructure performance. This problem is becoming more and more relevant as the demand for rail transport increases, especially considering the transport policy related to the promotion of climate-neutral means of transport. Insufficient capacity affects the stability and reliability of railway traffic operations. The analytical methods used for capacity estimation are typically insufficient to solve problems of a multicriteria nature (i.e. problems which take traffic heterogeneity and human factors into account). Optimisation methods, on the other hand, usually yield the best results if the current timetable for a given line is known. Additionally, they do not strongly consider the impact of the running characteristics of a specific train type and of the system or several systems in operation on the line (e.g. national Class B system and ERTMS/ETCS system). Therefore, this paper proposes a model and a simulation program developed in the Matlab and Simulink environment to be used to simulate on-route train movement, to study railroad capacity with different control systems, as well as for predictive train control to minimise energy losses. The authors described the assumptions adopted for the simulation program and the input parameters configurable against a specific line segment. They also discussed selected results derived from simulations of controlling the departure of trains to a railway line with the purpose of energy loss reduction.

Opis:
This paper focuses on practical aspects of gigabit passive optical networks (GPON) diagnostics during deployment, for root-cause analysis and for research purposes. While GPON signalling analysis is already quite commonly used for diagnostics, the aim of this work is a holistic approach, including both signalling and user plane (payload) analysis. User plane analysis, especially if targeted at payload Ethernet, IP and transport layers, enables detection of additional group of problems that could limit or even prevent GPON internetworking and thus degrade the user perceived service quality. Integrated signalling and payload analysis is also interesting from the research point of view, leading to the ability to study equipment idiosyncrasies that would be hard to detect otherwise and it is also one of the enablers of equipment security verification. The mentioned theories were tested during a practical diagnostic session on a real GPON network deployment and this paper presents the findings.
